This document discusses the implementation of a multilevel inverter system to convert DC voltage from a photovoltaic array into a pure sine wave AC voltage. Multilevel inverters reduce harmonics and increase efficiency by producing stepped voltage waveforms. The proposed system uses sinusoidal pulse width modulation to control insulated-gate bipolar transistors and generate a near-sinusoidal output voltage with low total harmonic distortion for driving non-linear loads. Simulation results show the multilevel inverter can effectively convert DC to high-quality AC voltage.
