A COMBINATION OF THE INTRUSION DETECTION SYSTEM AND THE OPEN-SOURCE FIREWALL ...IJCNCJournal
There are many security models for computer networks using a combination of Intrusion Detection System and Firewall proposed and deployed in practice. In this paper, we propose and implement a new model of the association between Intrusion Detection System and Firewall operations, which allows Intrusion Detection System to automatically update the firewall filtering rule table whenever it detects a weirdo intrusion. This helps protect the network from attacks from the Internet.

We are students from SRM University pursuing B.TECH in Computer Science Department. We took a small initiative to make a PPT about how network traffic can be analyzed through Cyber Security. We have also mentioned the known network analyzers and future scope for network traffic analysis with cyber security.
The development of intelligent network forensic tools to focus on specific type of network traffic analysis is a challenge in terms of future perspective.
This will reduce time delays, less computational resources requirement; minimize attacks, providing reliable and secured evidences, and efficient investigation with minimum efforts
Cybercrime is increasing at a faster pace and sometimes causes billions of dollars of business- losses so
investigating attackers after commitment is of utmost importance and become one of the main concerns of
network managers. Network forensics as the process of Collecting, identifying, extracting and analyzing
data and systematically monitoring traffic of network is one of the main requirements in detection and
tracking of criminals. In this paper, we propose an architecture for network forensic system. Our proposed
architecture consists of five main components: collection and indexing, database management, analysis
component, SOC communication component and the database.
The main difference between our proposed architecture and other systems is in analysis component. This
component is composed of four parts: Analysis and investigation subsystem, Reporting subsystem, Alert
and visualization subsystem and the malware analysis subsystem. The most important differentiating
factors of the proposed system with existing systems are: clustering and ranking of malware, dynamic
analysis of malware, collecting and analysis of network flows and anomalous behavior analysis.

Network forensics remains one of the hottest topics in network analysis, especially with the exploding deployments of 10 Gigabit (10G) gear. Though often considered for security analysis, especially the identification of network intrusions, network forensics can and should be used for much more general network analysis purposes.
At 10G, real-time network analysis is essentially unmanageable. The only effective way to deal with 10G traffic is to quickly screen incoming data for key network performance indicators and then to store the data for in-depth analysis of small slices of pertinent data as the need arises. Again, this in-depth analysis need not be security oriented – network forensics works equally well in identifying spikes in utilization, drops in VoIP call quality and increased latency, whether network or application. At 10G speeds this isn’t easy to accomplish, but with network forensics you’ll make quick work of it.
In this web seminar, we cover:
- Key technologies used in network forensics
- Applicability of network forensics in analyzing typical network performance issues
- Combining real-time capabilities with network forensics for effective 10G network analysis
What you will learn:
- How to effectively capture and manage 10G traffic for network analysis
- How to use real-time key network performance indicators to identify potential problems
- How to use network forensics to analyze and solve typical network performance issues
REAL-TIME INTRUSION DETECTION SYSTEM FOR BIG DATAijp2p
The objective of the proposed system is to integrate the high volume of data along with the important
considerations like monitoring a wide array of heterogeneous security. When a real time cyber attack
occurred, the Intrusion Detection System automatically store the log in distributed environment and
monitor the log with existing intrusion dictionary. At the same time the system will check and categorize the
severity of the log to high, medium, and low respectively. After the categorization, the system will
automatically take necessary action against the user-unit with respect to the severity of the log. The
advantage of the system is that it utilize anomaly detection, evaluates data and issue alert message or
reports based on abnormal behaviour.
Network Forensics is scientifically proven technique to accumulate, perceive, identify, examine, associate, analyse and document digital evidence from multiple systems for the purpose of uncovering the fact of attacks and other problem incident as well as performing the action to recover from the attack. Many systems are proposed for designing the network forensic systems. In this paper we have prepared comparative analysis of various models based on different techniques.

Collecting and analyzing network-based evidenceCSITiaesprime
Since nearly the beginning of the Internet, malware has been a significant deterrent to productivity for end users, both personal and business related. Due to the pervasiveness of digital technologies in all aspects of human lives, it is increasingly unlikely that a digital device is involved as goal, medium or simply ‘witness’ of a criminal event. Forensic investigations include collection, recovery, analysis, and presentation of information stored on network devices and related to network crimes. These activities often involve wide range of analysis tools and application of different methods. This work presents methods that helps digital investigators to correlate and present information acquired from forensic data, with the aim to get a more valuable reconstructions of events or action to reach case conclusions. Main aim of network forensic is to gather evidence. Additionally, the evidence obtained during the investigation must be produced through a rigorous investigation procedure in a legal context.

Analysis of IT Monitoring Using Open Source Software Techniques: A ReviewIJERD Editor
The Network administrators usually rely on generic and built-in monitoring tools for network
security. Ideally, the network infrastructure is supposed to have carefully designed strategies to scale up
monitoring tools and techniques as the network grows, over time. Without this, there can be network
performance challenges, downtimes due to failures, and most importantly, penetration attacks. These can lead to
monetary losses as well as loss of reputation. Thus, there is a need for best practices to monitor network
infrastructure in an agile manner. Network security monitoring involves collecting network packet data,
segregating it among all the 7 OSI layers, and applying intelligent algorithms to get answers to security-related
questions. The purpose is to know in real-time what is happening on the network at a detailed level, and
strengthen security by hardening the processes, devices, appliances, software policies, etc. The Multi Router
Traffic Grapher, or just simply MRTG, is free software for monitoring and measuring the traffic load
on network links. It allows the user to see traffic load on a network over time in graphical form.
This project mainly focuses on remotely scanning the organization’s internal network using precise, advanced and most efficient tools built installed on the Raspberry Pi. Keeping all the security aspects in scope, this tool is built and configured to meet and protect one’s required operations through the process. The whole scanning operation is done through the Secured Shell because it’s open source and uses open protocol, so it’s hard to plant a backdoor attack. The encryption will provide privacy and maintain integrity throughout the operation and will protect against network sniffers, eavesdropping and Man in the Middle Attack. This tool is made to completely eliminate the physical traveling of security team to the client’s location and to perform any contractual based security operations. Routers and switches give the availability, both inside the demilitarized Zone (DMZ) environment and to different tareas of the system to which the DMZ is connected. This makes Routers and switches prime targets for hackers to exploit and gather data about the system or just use as springboards on other devices. This section presents data on the best way to information and arrange some significant router and switch security includes that enable run safely and ensure the devices that they associate. Routers direct traffic all through the undertaking system and are normally the first line of barrier when the system is associating with the Internet. Hackers try to infiltrate routers to gather data or use them as launching pads for further attacks. This is the reason it is critical to secure switches' management interfaces and services to make them trouble for an interloper to hack. Similarly as with routers, switches have an expanding job in system security. The switch gives numerous highlights, including port security. VLANs and PVLANs give the tools to keep the devices on the DMZ secure. It is additionally imperative to secure the switch's management interfaces and services with the goal that hackers can't break into the switch to change VLAN designs, change port settings, or utilize the switch to connect with different parts of the network.
Network forensics is capture, recording and analysis of network packets in order to determine the source of network security attacks. The major goal of network forensics is to collect evidence. It tries to analyze network traffic data, which is collected from different sites and different network equipment, such as firewalls and IDS. In addition, it monitors on the network to detect attacks and analyze the nature of attackers. Network forensics is also the process of detecting intrusion patterns, focusing on attacker activity.
Computer documents, emails, text and instant messages, transactions, images and Internet histories are examples of information that can be gathered from electronic devices and used very effectively as evidence. For example, mobile devices use online-based based backup systems, also known as the “cloud”, that provide forensic investigators with access to text messages and pictures taken from a particular phone. These systems keep an average of 1,000–1,500 or more of the last text messages sent to and received from that phone. In addition, many mobile devices store information about the locations where the device traveled and when it was there. To gain this knowledge, investigators can access an average of the last 200 cell locations accessed by a mobile device. Satellite navig ...
Modern information security management best practices dictate that an enterprise assumes full
configuration control of end user computer systems (laptops, deskside computers, etc.). The benefit of this
explicit control yields lower support costs since there are less variation of machines, operating systems,
and applications to provide support on, but more importantly today, dictating specifically what software,
hardware, and security configurations exist on an end user's machine can help reduce the occurrence of
infection by malicious software significantly. If the data pertaining to end user systems is organized and
catalogued as part of normal information security logging activities, an extended picture of what the end
system actually is may be available to the investigator at a moment's notice to enhance incident response
and mitigation. The purpose of this research is to provide a way of cataloguing this data by using and
augmenting existing tools and open source software deployed in an enterprise network.

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.

Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.
