This document discusses consensus mechanisms for blockchain networks and the security challenges they present. It begins with an introduction to blockchain technology and its applications like Bitcoin and Ethereum. The properties of blockchain like decentralization and tamper-proof records are described. The document then examines the consensus algorithm used to validate transactions and adds new blocks. It evaluates the performance of different consensus mechanisms and discusses issues like scalability, costs, and attacks. The conclusion is that consensus algorithms need to be tailored to specific blockchain applications and further work is still needed to solve challenges of reliability, throughput, and delays simultaneously.

Coalition of IoT and Blockchain: Rewards and Challengesanupriti
IoT and Blockchain are two evolving technologies which are gradually realizing immense potential to be a decisive part of future of mankind ecosystem. Blockchain and IoT, both are envisaged to bring in a plethora of advantages including better control, communication, transparency and more significantly realizing digital trust without any third party intervention. Both of these technologieshave immense potential for exploitation in a smart nation concept. The advantages being realized are potent enough for definite implementation ahead but they come with an austere package of security concerns which if not taken care at the design stage can lead to pandemonium beyond control because of the billion plus connected things. Even atdesign stage, one can appreciate that it will be envisaging beyond control to close all security vulnerabilities and zero day’s exploits of future. Bitcoin has been a hot topic in the technology industry since its boom in 2017. The underlying technology of bitcoin is the blockchain that has impressed many of the onlookers due to its transparency and usability in this globalized world. In cryptocurrencies, a ledger is operated which contains all the data regarding the transactions and contracts that are to be executed. These ledgers are maintained on multiple nodes around the world. Every node has to maintain a full copy of the ledger which currently is 15 GB for bitcoin. As more and more transactions are carried on the blockchain, this approach becomes slow. Scaling is the only solution to counter this problem, that's where the sharding technology comes into play. In sharding, rather than each node maintaining the full ledger, the ledger is divided or sharded into multiple fragments. So, in short, each node consists of a small part of the ledger rather than the whole ledger which is easy to maintain and in turn helps in scaling the blockchain. So rather than a full blockchain, we have shard chains that consist of multiple node or validator networks which are then assigned multiple tasks like verifying transactions or operations.

Governance in the Blockchain Economy: A Framework and Research Agenda. Roman...eraser Juan José Calderón
ABSTRACT
Blockchain technology is often referred to as a groundbreaking innovation and the harbinger of a new economic era. Blockchains may be capable of engendering a new type of economic system: the blockchain economy. In the blockchain economy, agreed-upon transactions would be enforced autonomously, following rules defined by smart contracts. The blockchain economy would manifest itself in a new form of organizational design—decentralized autonomous organizations (DAO)—which are organizations with governance rules specified in the blockchain. We discuss the blockchain economy along dimensions defined in the IT governance literature: decision rights, accountability, and incentives. Our case study of a DAO illustrates that governance in the blockchain economy may depart radically from established notions of governance. Using the three governance dimensions, we propose a novel IT governance framework and a research agenda for governance in the blockchain economy. We challenge common assumptions in the blockchain discourse, and propose promising information systems research related to these assumptions.

Blockchain (BC) has received high attention from many researchers recently because it has decentralization, trusted auditability, and transparency as its main properties. BC has contributed fundamentally to the development of applications like cryptocurrencies, health care, the internet of things (IoT), and so on. The IoT is envisioned to include billions of pervasive and mission-critical sensors and actuators connected to the internet. This network of smart devices is expected to generate and have access to vast amounts of information, creating unique opportunities for new applications, but significant security and privacy issues emerge concurrently because it does not contain robust security systems. BC provides many services like privacy, security, and provenance to the systems that depends on. This research includes analyzing and a comprehensive review of BC technologies. Moreover, the proposed solutions in academia with the methodologies that used to integrate blockchain with IoT are presented. Also, the types of attacks on blockchain are collected and classified. Furthermore, the main contributions and challenges that are included in the literature are explored, then the relevant recommendations for solving the explored challenges are proposed. In conclusion, the integration of BC with IoT could produce promising results in enhancing the security and privacy of IoT environment.

A survey on security and policy aspects of blockchain technologyTELKOMNIKA JOURNAL
This survey talks about the problem of security and privacy in the blockchain ecosystem which is currently a hot issue in the blockchain community. The survey intended to study this problem by considering different types of attacks in the blockchain network with respect to algorithms presented. After a preliminary literature review it seems that some focus has been given to study the first use case while, to the best of my knowledge, the second use case requires more attention when blockchain is applied to study it. The research is also interested in exploring the link between these two use cases to study the overall data ownership preserving accountable system which will be a novel contribution of this work. However, due to the subsequent government mandated secrecy around the implementation of data encryption standard (DES), and the distrust of the academic community because of this, a movement was spawned that put a premium on individual privacy and decentralized control. This movement brought together the top minds in encryption and spawned the technology we know of as blockchain today. This survey explores the genesis of encryption, its early adoption, and the government meddling which eventually spawned a movement which gave birth to the ideas behind blockchain.
Blockchain-based Security Mechanisms for Internet of Medical Things (IOMT)IJCNCJournal
Traditional standards and security protocols are recognized as unable to solve the security, privacy, and availability of services of the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) ecosystem, especially during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Blockchain technology has then emerged as a distributed ledger technology that can manage many intelligent transactions and ensure greater security in data management. The Blockchain-based security mechanisms with specific adaptation and additional layers of authentication and verification can offer a complete resources' management system. It has demonstrated it’s superlatively as the core component of the Bitcoin cryptocurrency. In this paper, we propose a ThreeTier Blockchain Architecture in a hierarchical clustering network, with a lightweight authentication system-based API Gateway model that provides network and communication security. Reasonable implementation is proposed and the obtained results demonstrate that our approach shows satisfactory performances in terms of transfer time, energy consumption, and CPU impacts. The traffic analysis also shows that the proposed model can meet the requested security, integrity, and confidentiality of user data.

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.

CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!
Work done in cooperation with James Malloy and David Moelling from Tetra Engineering.

Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.
