My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke Essay
Any interpretation of this story is due to the reader s personal emotions and feelings toward his or her
own Papa. This story can be either a dance between him and his father, thus bringing them closer
together. However, there is a darker side of this poem, on this side it is an unsettling fight between a
boy and his drunken father and all the intimacy of the dance does not make an impression on the
reader and is overshadowed by the anger they feel. Theodore Roethke manipulates our emotions in
this poem using literary convention. A Waltz is a lighthearted, easily accessible dance. In a waltz, a
couple sways back and forth as they go in a circle. Our emotions of this poem seem to follow this
same path as we can see comforting and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The whiskey on his breath is not necessarily negative due to the factors of the working class culture in
1948 when this poem was published. To add on to this view that he is a hard worker with knuckles
that are battered and a palm caked hard by dirt, the man is a grafter who works long and hard for the
family he loves. The overwhelming joy he feels when he sees his son makes him want to dance in a
waltz. Due to him and his father s height difference, the son s ear scraped on the father s belt buckle.
The longer they dance the happier he get. This causes him to become more and more clumsier due to
his drunken state, and it starts to become too much for the son the handle and begins to become very
rough. This dance becomes so rough that the dancing causes the pans to fall to the floor and causes the
son to, hang on like death to his father. The beating on his son s head is part of joy at the music he
hears in his head. The mother remains an outsider to what is actually happening in front of her and is
naturally unhappy due to the random disturbance the father makes. After the dance is over the son
goes to bed and clings to his father s shirt in love and admiration for him. The negative side of this
poem is an abusive drunken father. This is prevalent to his father s obvious drunkenness. This is tied
together with the image of a knuckle, beating, belt buckle, and negativity in the word death. These

Paleolithic Diet Research Paper
Sara S. Heilman
11/00/17
3rd Hour The Modern Diet
The Paleolithic Era started in about 200,000 BCE and ended in 10,000 BCE. The Paleolithic peoples
were foragers, people who moved around to find food. They hunted and gathered their food.
Paleolithic people ate meat, fruit, and wild grasses. Although the Paleolithic diet may seem more
desirable than what the average person eats today, it is not. The average Modern diet is better than the
Paleolithic diet because it reduces diseases and other disorders and has many added benefits.
The first reason the average Modern diet is better than the Paleolithic diet is that it reduces diseases
and other disorders. The average modern diet reduces the chance of cardiovascular disease,
osteoporosis, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because the Paleolithic diet does not accurately represent Paleolithic people s lifestyle.
According to https://www.precisionnutrition.com humans began eating grasses at least three million
years ago so grasses should be included in the Paleolithic diet. Next, Paleolithic people had a much
more active life style than humans today. This is important because in order to get some of the benefits
of the Paleolithic diet modern people have to not only eat the diet but live the lifestyle of our early
ancestors. Finally, the diet of Paleolithic people depended on where they lived. This is important
because the fruits and vegetables in the Modern diet are the same ones someone could eat if they were
in the Paleodiet except the Modern diet has more

Review Of Related Literature Of Starbucks
Related Literature Truell, Allen, Milbier, Michael (2007) said that promotion is one of the four Ps of
marketing price, product, place, and promotion. Promotion is generally thought of as a sequence of
activities designed to inform and convince individuals to purchase a product, subscribe to a belief, or
support a cause. All of the various tools available to marketing managers for promotional activities
constitute what is known as the promotional mix. The promotional mix includes advertising, personal
selling, public relations and sales promotion.
According to Ingram (2009), advertising on the coffee shop s premises is a must for coffee shops. All

The Starbucks marketing strategy has always focused on word of mouth advertising and letting the
high quality of their products and services speak for themselves. For years, this has been uniquely
Starbucks, and it has played a huge part in making Starbucks Coffee Company a success. The
definition of social media viral marketing speaks to this new word of mouth that Starbucks has run
with and made their own.
There is another coffee shop, the Indian Coffee House, which has been solely dependent on word of

spread the word or suggest it to their friends. And the role of marketing communication in this case

Upper Class And Social Class
Body
Social class profoundly affects an individual s academic achievement in school. In this case, social
class shapes the attitudes and values of an individual which further influences their future both
academically and professionally. Empirical evidence suggests that individuals/students attending
college/university from a lower social class face difficulties when socially integrating into the school
system leading to higher dropout rates and poor academic performance (Darnon, Jury, and Aelenei,
2017; Lehmann, 2007, 90). In comparison, a majority of individuals from a higher social class tend to
succeed in their academic career (they complete university/college, high academic performance rates,
etc.) (Darnon et al., 2017). This further infers that an obvious sociocultural difference continues to
persist among individuals who belong to different social classes.
Individuals from upper classes have the advantage of being at ease when integrating into the schooling
system. This is due to the fact that upper class individuals often have parents who reinforce
educational topics such as politics, world news, history, etc. within the home. This is supported by
findings which indicate that one of the factors related to success among upper class students is their
access to cultural capital (Callender and Mason, 2017, 24 27). Further, it is also important to take into
consideration that individuals from the upper class often have parents with college/university degrees

End Of Life Planning
I often find myself searching for ways to increase efficiency and effectiveness in my professional
environment. When instructed to increase education about advance directives and end of life planning
by leadership, I immediately approached this from a group perspective. I coordinated with Chaplain
Services at the James Quillen VA and began leading a group focused on VA Form 10 0137 and end of
life planning. Each page of the 5 page form was reviewed with every Veteran, questions were
answered, and the Veteran s personal experience with end of life planning were discussed. Afterward,
Veterans wanting to complete the form remained and were given one on one assistance with
completing the form. In one month, we educated approximately 48 Veterans, ... Show more content on

Since working in the Caregiver Support Program, my recommendation for implementing team huddles
was accepted. As a result, we have been able to anticipate, plan for, and address the program s needs
while being under staffed. We discuss topics such as the number of reassessments, review newly
implemented changes to ensure they are effective and feasible to maintain, and we restructured work
duties and both tackle those tasks that have been identified as teamwork tasks . These are tasks that
either staff member can address as our schedule allows while both being aware that the task needs to
be completed. While training as the Senior Social Worker for the Caregiver Support Program, I
learned the staff had consistently struggled with obtaining feedback from providers which is mandated
by the program s federal regulations. Utilizing my clinical skills, relationship building skills, and
feedback I began educating providers and requesting feedback within a specific timeframe. It is now
very rare that I am unable to obtain feedback from a treatment team member. I am now consistently
receiving feedback from treatment team members within a few hours to four days for feedback. As a
result, Veterans and Caregivers are receiving timely feedback while we adhere to federal regulations.
As the Activities Coordinator at Bering Omega Community Services (2007 2008), I used client
feedback when selecting and scheduling monthly activities and trips. Ultimately, attendance,
participation, and morale increased. I also used feedback provided by staff and volunteers when
organizing the annual volunteer banquet at Volunteer Baton Rouge (2006 2007). The number of
banquet attendees tripled as a result. I have also led a committee focused on restructuring the HBPC
interdisciplinary team meeting times to increase efficiency. As a result, each teamlet has set monthly

Whoso List To Hunt I Know Where Is An Hind Poem Analysis
Close Reading Exercise: Whoso List to Hunt, I Know Where is an Hind
1. In the poem Whoso List to Hunt, I Know Where is an Hind written by Sir Thomas Wyatt, in my
opinion, the most appropriate meaning of the word hind is the female of the deer, esp. of the red deer
(Oxford English Dictionary Online).
2. Using hind as a metaphor to a charming lady who is flirty but hard to approach is the central
metaphor of this poem. In this sonnet, Sir Thomas Wyatt almost applied this metaphor throughout the
entire poem. The language from line 1 to line 10 seems to focus on the activity of deer hunting: the
speaker is attracted by a female deer and chases the deer from far behind, but he is exhausted and
gives up as the deer flees; however, the use of she and her in these lines may be a suggestion of a
metaphor. The last four lines then revealed the speech of using hind as a metaphor for lady by adding
the components of diamonds , her fair neck and for Caesar s ; thus the readers could understand the
real intention that hidden under the speaker s metaphor by comparing the similarity of a female deer
and a fair lady: both are beautiful but wild. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two enjambments in lines 5 and 6 increases the readers speed of reading, showing the eagerness
and frustration when the speaker is chasing, the losing the deer/lady; meanwhile, the two end stopping
in lines 7 and 8 slows down the readers reading speed, effectively suggesting the speaker s feeling of
helpless and bitter by giving up the effort of pursuing. The rhyme of lines 5 8 follows the format of
abba, which demonstrates the beauty of symmetry together with the consistent rhyme in lines 1 4;
however, visual rhymes appear in the two words mind and wind , which stands out from the text,
possibly showing the potential turbulence of speaker s mind

Two Poem The Dead
When thinking of World War I many different things come to mind. When thinking of the dawn of the
20th century one thinks of its 19th century legacies like the fin de siècle or the belle époque . Both of
these ideas symbolize how the start of the 20th century meant different things to different people. The
same can be said with the feelings and ideas attached to the great war. The feelings of war in the
United States were much different then what was most likely felt among Europe. Also, the views of
the allied powers were distinct from that of the axis power. However, despite all of these differences
when looking at the collection of Great War Poems we see that for the soldiers it was all the same. By
reading the words of the French, German, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even if they survived many of them came home in pieces and maimed. The author talks about the loss
of his leg but then adds how the rats ate his leg and he ate the rats . This shows some of the atrocities
that all of the soldiers had to face during the war. In the end all he got to show for it was the Croix de
Guerre and a wooden leg. This was the unfortunate reality of many of the soldiers who were even
lucky enough to return from the war.
Another poem about death The Dead Beat talks about death in a straightforward and seemingly
insensitive way. In the opening paragraph the author says that when the soldier dropped it Lay stupid
like a cod, heavy like meat. This could seem crude to a reader, but this is how things were in times of
war. In order to survive mentally as well as physically these men had to form a sense of detachment
and at times even become inhumane. This crudeness is seen further in the closing line, That scum you
sent last night soon died.

Rock And Roll In The 1970 s
Rock and Roll all began in the 1950 s and we have the amazingly talented pioneer Chuck Barry to
thank for that. Though Chuck Berry was the start of it all, Elvis Presley was the rebel that gave Rock
and Roll a name and a face! This new genre of music took off once Elvis Presley began performing
and the youth of the time could not get enough. Elvis Presley had introduced and widely popularized
lyrics and dancing of a sexual nature. There was an unfortunate downfall of the rock stars in the 50 s
due to the outrage of the adult community. Rock and Roll in the 1960 s was reborn thanks to the
incredibly famous rock band known as The Beatles. The Beatles appearance on Ed Sullivan s
television show in early 1964 launched Beatlemania in the United States, which led to the British
Invasion . Another one of the big British bands that brought Rock and Roll back to life were The
Rolling Stones. This band was also a part of the British Invasion of the United States. The Rolling
Stones were considered to be an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

mid to late seventies with artists like The Bee Gees and Donna Summer. Disco was a complete and

The Theory Of The Existence Of A God
Theodicy of God
Men always wonder about their own existence. They ask questions that hinted an existence of a God.
Like the common questions that was probably asked by all men; who created me? , what am I? , who
am I? These questions lead to the topics on how Plato and Aristotle came up with their different
theories that supports the idea of the existence of a God. The problem here is that we cannot know the
existence of a God if there really is a God by just thinking by ourselves because we may have the
mind to think but we may also not have the capacity to think like Plato and Aristotle from which they
are the main philosophers that the Medieval philosophers like Saint Bonaventure based their work not
just by simply agreeing on the works of Aristotle or Plato but by commenting on their works and
continuing or extending what their works are. The theory of forms by Plato indicates that there is a
Primary Being that can be perceive through the use of the mind wherein reason is the main instrument
being used in order to see what you cannot perceive using your external senses. The external sense
cognition by Aristotle from which uses the five senses of a human person which are the sight, touch,
smell, hearing, and taste. The world that we perceive by the use of our external senses make us believe
that there is a God that created all that we see, smell, touch, hear, and taste. I propose to assimilate
Saint Bonaventura in my paper because of my elaboration about

Reduction In Force Process
Administrators are very important for all companies as they are assigned sensitive and specific roles
that make certain the company operates at its optimum capacity. At the same time, administrators
ensure all employees perform their expected duties within the company. Among all the roles the
administrators are assigned, conducting a Reduction In Force (RIF) in the company is one of them.
Reduction in the workforce in any company should be handled professionally and amicably whilst
ensuring that the company, the administration, and the employees are all in understanding at that
point. The termination of an employee s employment or contract should only take place when a
company can no longer sustain the entire workforce in addition to not meeting its goals and objectives.
As an administrator, there are several ways that the reduction in force process should be conducted at
the same time as observing various laws that protects employees from sudden termination of their
employment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

chances of litigation if an employee feels he has been unfairly dismissed by the company (Gray,

creating a logical timeline that states how the RIF will be done. The timeline ensures that all decisions
that are made will have been thoroughly deliberated, the creation of proper documentation, and
ensuring all involved parties work together. The timeline also ensures that the employer studies the
timeline accurately to make sure that specific groups of employees will not suffer in this

Social-Emotional Development And Social Emotional Development
What is Social Emotional Development?
Social emotional development is the ability of a child to identify and understand own and others
feelings, manage own feelings and behaviours, develop empathy for others and establish positive and
rewarding relationships with peers. Social emotional development encompasses both intrapersonal and
interpersonal processes.
A child must have social emotional skills, so that he/she can gain the basic skills they need. These
basic skills include cooperation, following directions, demonstrating self control and paying attention.
Feelings of trust, confidence, pride, friendship, affection and humour are all a part of a child s social

Why should you adopt a shelter dog? Every year 3.9 million dogs nationwide are brought into
shelters. Of those 3.9 million 31% are euthanized. I think that you should adopt shelter dogs because
lots of them die and you could save them, they are affordable, and they are good for your health. One
reason is that many dogs die everyday in shelters. 3.9 million dogs nationwide are brought into

people aren t adopting them they will eventually be killed so new dogs can be brought in. If more

Growing Population In Uk Essay
Briefing Note for The Minister: Report on the issues caused by the growing population of Deer within
the UK
The occupants of Great Britain are well accustomed to the species of deer often sighted around its
country sides and nature reserves. However, increasing numbers are causing great strains on parks and
causing an alarming rate of injuries to people and even fatalities due to road accidents involving deer.
In the coming years the number of accidents is expected to exceed the over 30,000 recorded in 2006 in
Great Britain (Pokorny, 2006). The Red Deer (Cervus elaphus) and Roe Deer (Capreolus capreolus)
populations are increasing in number, as well as increasing their distribution throughout the UK
(PostReport, 2009). In addition to these two native species, there are a further four species of deer that
had been introduced to private parks in the UK in the past. The Sika, Muntjac and Chinese water deer
have made the UK their home for the past 150 years, as well as the Fallow Deer which has been
around much longer. The growing populations of deer are affecting the biodiversity, ecology (Fuller
Gill, 2001) and economy within the surrounding areas. Human health and safety, as well as the
animals own welfare is also at risk. I encourage The Minister to heed this information regarding the

The Impact Of Retail Industry On The Retail Sector
I. Introduction The retail sector plays a pivotal role in the development of UK economy, contributing
£180 billion to GDP in 2014, 11% of the total. This industry employed about 4.4 million people in
2014, 15.8% of the UK labour, becoming the largest broad industrial group by the quantity and
proportion of employees. 539,000 enterprises operating in the retail industry in the UK makes account
for 10.3% of all UK businesses. Therefore, the failure of retail companies can lead to adverse impact
on not only shareholders, employees but also the whole economy. Those are the reasons why the UK
government has focused on the development of this industry and also made an effort to prevent the
bankruptcy in the retail sector. Figure 1. % change on the previous year of economic output in retail
sector and whole economy According to Niemira (1996), retail industry tends to be more vulnerable to
the ups and downs of the economy than other industries. To illustrate by Figure 1, in 2007, the retail
sector grew faster than the UK economy. Nevertheless, when the recession began in late 2007, a
quicker and deeper decline than the whole economy could be seen. At the bottom in Q2 2009, output
from the retail industry dropped by 9.3% compared with 2008 while the output from the whole
economy decreased by 5.8% in that quarter (Rhodes, 2014) The history witnessed many notable

The Relationship Of Emotions And Investment Essay
Introduction
This paper is provided as an analysis between the relationship of emotions and investment.
Specifically, there will be an emphasis on the feelings, self control, and how our decision making play
a role in investing. This paper will also include a detailed summary of the emotional states of
misattribution bias, positive and negative emotions, pessimism and optimism. Lastly, this paper will
contain an explanation of how this behavior influences investing, and how to alleviate this
comportment through self control.
Emotional states, feelings
Our emotions can control how we think and how we go about specific situations. This can be about
work, personal, or more specifically investment decisions. Essentially, an individual who is in a good
mood will feel more lenient in their financial decisions, and act more loosely with their finances in
regards to investments. Individual who are in a good mood as opposed to those in a bad mood have a
more positive outlook on their future. However, this is not always a good thing. The individuals who
embrace investments with a more positive outlook are more likely to take on riskier investments, thus
opening the door to more susceptible losses. This is known as misattribution bias, and can lead
individual investors astray during the course of their initial investments (Nofsinger, J., 2014, pp. 108
113).
Needless to say, the influence of emotions and feelings have an impact on the investment decisions of
individuals. A

Restaurant Risks include ADA Compliance and Off Premises Utility Outages Restaurant risks are an
inevitable part of doing business, but I believe that savvy restaurateurs, managers and chefs can
manage these risks proactively with proactive preparation, careful planning and implementing the
right risk management techniques. People use restaurants as social hangouts, places for business
meetings and homes away from home, so any restaurant s customers might seem more like family
than customers, but when something goes wrong, I ve found that restaurateurs quickly realize that
these family members are actually part of a long term business relationship that generates high levels
of risk and legal liabilities. I ve worked in the restaurant business for many years as a cook, server,
chef, manager and restaurant owner and sold advertising to fine dining restaurants and major
hospitality venues, so I ve learned a few things about the restaurant business that even experienced
restaurateurs might miss. Restaurants face risks that can be roughly classified into financial, operating
and marketing perils, and I urge restaurant owners to address each of these potential risks proactively.
In today s social sharing, instant communications and litigious ecosphere, even the most scrupulous
and painstaking management practices can fall short of anticipating and preventing all risks. Upscale

Stevenson Create a Sense of Mystery and Horror in Mr Hyde...
Stevenson Create a Sense of Mystery and Horror in Mr Hyde and Dr Jekyll In this essay I am going to
look at Mr Hyde and Dr Jekyll, the first two chapters, and explain using quotes and information from
these chapters how the writer creates a sense of mystery and horror. I will be focussing on the
descriptions given about the characters and the house which plays a significant part in this story. This
novel is about a highly classed doctor of science, named Dr Jekyll. Dr Jekyll is a very clever professor
who makes a mixture of chemicals, which can turn him into a totally different person for a short
period of time. This power to become someone else lets Dr Jekyll live two different lives, without ...

A man of a rugged countenance that was never lighted by a smile This could suggest to the reader that
Mr Utterson is a grim or evil character, which creates a sense of mild horror and mystery already
about this character. Now the writer again informs the reader about uttersons look, lean, long, dusty,
and dreary. This could imply that utterson is a creepy dark person, therefore again creating a sense of
horror and mystery about him. This sense of mystery is portrayed again by Stevenson, in the way he
describes uttersons lifestyle and personality. He never marked a shade of change in his demeanour.
This makes utterson sound like an old fashioned, cold hearted man, therefore creating a sense of
mystery. Now the reader has been told of uttersons looks and what his personality is like, now the
writer informs the reader about uttersons stature and influence on people around him. The last good
influence of the lives of down going men. This foreshadows what is going to happen later on in the
novel and that Mr Utterson may be involved, this creates a sense of mystery and horror about what is
to come. These quotations about the lawyer, utterson, from the opening page, act as an early piece of
foreshadowing because why else would Stevenson want to tell the reader these facts about

True To The Game Essay
One week removed from the movie industry pulling a Colin Kapernick on movie theaters and taking a
knee for the Labor Day weekend. Hollywood is back with a bang, and by bang I mean fart. The
Hollywood Struggle Season, also known as fall, continues and after a record low drop in box office
sales, they continue to give you no reason to leave your house. This week we have terrible Romantic
comedy starring Reese Witherspoon, a low budget dumpster fire called True to the Game where the
vision of black success is selling drugs and shooting people a bunch, then you have a 9/11 movie
starring Charlie Sheen...nothing more needs to be said. With the 2017 box office coming off its worst
summer in 25 years, Hollywood isn t exactly giving people reason to ... Show more content on

If you are wondering how this stacks up to the original, the film hits all the bullet point check marks of
the original novel so you don t have to worry about the film taking liberties here. Pennywise in this
film is played straight, for the most part, he doesn t have that campy charm that Tim Curry had years
ago. When it comes to the villain, the film takes a more modern horror approach with him. You can
tell that film was inspired by it scares but films like the Conjuring series but doesn t pull off the scares
quite as well. As for the kids in the film, they hit it out of the park. Casting young teens in a role like
this where they need to carry your film could be a disaster, however, the cast here easily carry the
weight. Smart, crass, and sometimes extremely crude the cast here excel at what is needed for them to
relive those characters from the original. Now, this film only gives you the perspective of the
characters as kid, if you want the adult story of them coming back to town and fighting a spider
demon (possible spoilers, I dunno, the book came out over 3 decades ago, get over it) then you have to
wait for the sequel. It s easy to forget the original IT was actually a miniseries and despite this film s
135 minute runtime, that part of the story isn t featured here. As entertaining as the cast is,

Responsibility In Animal Farm
And so almost before they knew what was happening, the rebellion had been successfully carried
through: Jones was expelled, and the Manor Farm was theirs. this quote from the novel Animal Farm
represents when during the russian revolution riots broke out in Russia because of Tsar s unjust rule.
Tsar(The Emperor of russia before 1917) was forced to abdicate. Tsar was a very unfair leader (just
like Mr.jones) and Russia s minorities became hard to control under his domination. When his brother
(Michael Alexandrovich) refused to rule, over 300 years of Romanov dynasty ended. In animal farm
the author George Orwell uses persuasiveness of the leaders and gullibility of the followers to
contribute to theme:loss of freedom and equality in order to show even after the revolution animal
farm fell back into tyranny, dictatorship, inequality ,and subservience.
Although the animals at Manor Farm had a revolution they quickly fell right back into tyranny which
led to loss of freedom and equality. After Mr. Jones was expelled two pigs Snowball and Napoleon
became the leaders of the farm. Soon after the revolution Napolean expelled Snowball! Unfortunately
Napoleon did not have the animal s best interest at heart. Three hens who had been the ringleaders in
the attempted rebellion over the eggs now came forward and stated that snowball had appeared to
them in a dream, and incited them to disobey Napoleon s orders. They too were slain on the spot.
When the animals expelled Mr. Jones they

Western Films In The Good, The Bad And The Ugly
In order to make an iconic western film, directors and filmmakers need to have three very important
characteristics in their films. These traits are having a cowboy who roams the western frontier, a
conflict between multiple groups, and a shootout to end the film. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly by
Sergio Leone is considered one of the greatest western films of all time. Another Sergio Leone film A
Fistful of Dollars should be considered one of the greats as well due to the presence of the three major
traits of western films.
The first major characteristic of a western film is a nomadic cowboy as the main character that the
audience does not know much about. In The Good, The Bad and The Ugly the main character was a
nomadic cowboy who made a living by turning a criminal in to the sheriff and then later setting the
bandit free. He would go ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The shootout scene consists of two shooters that partake in standard shootout procedures. This
includes the shooters to stand a few yards away from each other. Each shooter will get one bullet and
try to shoot to kill the other. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly ends with final shootout between all
three of the important characters. This film provides a little twist to the standard shootout since it has
three people facing off against one another. Each of the characters is trying to get the gold that drove
the film up until the final scene. Nevertheless, the scene is still recognized as a shootout by all who
watch the film. In A Fistful of Dollars, The Man With No Name is in a shootout between himself and
Ramon, a member of the Rojos family. This came after thee Rojos burned the house of the Baxter s
and killed everyone in the family and crime partnership. The shootout scenes in these two films
provide a very suspenseful and action filled climax. Shootouts are very iconic in western movies and
have to be included in order to make a true

If the powder dissolves then to make sure it is ionic or a type of covalent pour the 150 ml of ethanol
into a beaker and pour 1.5 grams of the same powder into the chemical, if the powder dissolves it is
covalent but if it doesn t dissolve its ionic.
8. Record all observations on the reaction of the water and ethanol
9. Repeat steps 1 8 for other 5 powders
Melting Point procedure:
1. Take the aluminum dish and separate the middle using a pencil
2. Put 3 grams of two different powders in the separate panels
3. Put the retort stand over the Bunsen burner
4. Turn the Bunsen burner on and set a specific temperature(start low) place the aluminum dish on the
retort stand above the Bunsen burner
5. If the powder does not burn then raise the temperature to a very high temp.
6. If the powder melts at a high temperature (800 plus) then its ionic but if it melts at a low temp its
covalent
7. Make sure to use the infrared thermometer to check what temperature the powder started melting at
and record the reaction and what temperature the powder melted at
8. Repeat steps 1 7 for the other powders

How Star Trek Revolutionized American Television
How Star Trek revolutionized american television In the late 1960 s, America was at a turning point in

Johnson had just passed the fair housing act (the last bill to be passed in the civil rights act of 1968),
fully recognizing african americans as legal citizens attentions. From the start the show was like
nothing else on television at the time. Gene Roddenberry the creator of Star Trek was all about the

The cast thought was that it was ridiculous, but a decision was made with Gene Roddenberry to film
two alternate versions of the scene. In the first version Captain Kirk kissed Uhura in front of the
camera to the directors dissatisfaction. In the second version Captian Kirk turned Uhura around
obscuring her from the view of the director, but also purposely ruined the scene by crossing his eyes
forcing the episode to go with the kissing scene. Thus, the first african american to caucasian kiss was
aired on american television. The National Broadcasting Company (NBC) had concerns the episode
would anger TV stations in the Deep South (Gerogia, Alabama, South Carolina, Mississippi Louisiana
and in Texas), and had had similar concerns with musical sequence earlier that year featuring the first
direct physical contanct between a afrian american and a caucasian. The actual reception from the fans
was extremely positive, with only one mildly negative letter from one white southerner who wrote I
am totally opposed to the mixing of races. However, any time a red blooded American boy like
Captain Kirk gets a beautiful dame in his arms that looks like Uhura, he ain t gonna fight it. . Nichols

Stages Of Cellular Respiration In Plants
All of the following compounds are required at some stage of cellular respiration in plants, except
A. NAD.
B. sugar.
C. adenosine diphosphate.
D. oxygen.
E. carbon dioxide.
Cellular respiration occurs in both plant and animal cells. Both types of cells are very similar,
containing similar organelles such as the mitochondria. The mitochondria is the site of cellular
respiration, where glucose and oxygen can be used to produce ATP and carbon dioxide. In plant cells
energy is created through the process of photosynthesis, the conversion of energy from the sun into
chemical energy. Autotrophs are able to utilize photosynthesis to sustain themselves without
consuming food to obtain energy. The site of photosynthesis takes place in the cell s chloroplast
(Citovsky, Lecture 20). A large, concentrated portion of chloroplast can be found within the plant s
mesophyll, the interior of a leaf. Photosynthesis is broken down into two stages: light reactions and
the Calvin cycle. Through light reactions, solar energy can be converted into chemical energy
(Campbell, pg. 189). In the Calvin cycle, usable energy in the form of sugars are synthesized from
carbon dioxide.
Choice A NAD is incorrect. NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme which
functions as an intermediate for energy transport during cellular respiration (Citovsky, Lecture 18). In
the first phase of photosynthesis, light reactions, solar energy is converted into NADP+ (nicotinamide
adenine dinucleotide

The Rise of National Socialism Essay
The Rise of National Socialism The rise of National Socialism in Germany resulted in World War II
and the Holocaust. The signing of the Treaty of Versisad in 1919 proclaimed that over 10 million were
killed in the first World War and Germany must take the blame and pay for all the damage. This
meeting set up three goals: Repayment from Germany for all the damage occurred (12 13 billion

this situation could never happen anywhere ever again. To help accomplish these three tasks they put

By the end of 1933, 37,000 Jews had fled the country. On August 2, 1934 the president, Hindenberg,
died and the very next day Hitler ,the chancellor, was appointed president until an election could be
held. This made Hitler the absolute head of Germany. This is the setting and scene which Hitler (1889
1945), Frankl (1905 1997), and Sartre (1905 1980) wrote their different opinions on life and how their
lives had been affected by the conditions all around them. The Holocaust was a terrible event in
history, but if we take the information and learn from the mistakes made perhaps we can keep this
from happening again in the future. Three influential men wrote books on this event each with a
different point of view. Hitler, in his book Mein Kampf, shows us a great demonstration of the power
of persuasive writing. While very few agree with what he did, he was able to convince an entire nation
that what he was saying was right. Frankl wrote about his concentration camp experience and was a
tremendous witness to people that you always have a choice. He believed that life is taking
responsibility to find answers to your problems. How you react to your problems is always up to you.
Finally Sartre also believed that man has an active roll in his own destiny. Sartre wrote Existentialism
is a Humanism, and in his book he addresses his belief that being in itself has no meaning we must
assign a meaning to it. His belief in

Australian Aborigines and their Crisis
Australia s Aborigines are often hailed as the world s longest surviving culture, easily dating back
60,000 years, existing long before many ancient societies such as the Greeks and Romans. Since they
are such an old culture many people wonder how they were able to remain in existence for so long
while of culture perished around them. The answer can be found in their adaptive nature; having such
a close bound with the land around them, taught the aboriginals the importance of change and
adapting (Australia.gov.au). While it might be debatable that Australia s natives are the longest
surviving culture, there is no doubt that the Aborigines animistic religion is the oldest existing. Their
religion is ripe with multiple different gods, often represented in the forms of animals or notable
landscape features. There is no one central god, instead many deities were spread across the continent
of Australia, each spirit fulfilling their role in the world. Creation beings were involved in the creation
of the world, ancestral beings taught humans how to hunt and make weapons, totemic beings were the
original form of animals. Being a culture that places high emphasize on their religion, many of the dot
art, a form of painting or drawing that involves creating hundreds of small dots to create the overall
picture, is often found in caves or the sides of rocks, the some

  • 2. My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke Essay Any interpretation of this story is due to the reader s personal emotions and feelings toward his or her own Papa. This story can be either a dance between him and his father, thus bringing them closer together. However, there is a darker side of this poem, on this side it is an unsettling fight between a boy and his drunken father and all the intimacy of the dance does not make an impression on the reader and is overshadowed by the anger they feel. Theodore Roethke manipulates our emotions in this poem using literary convention. A Waltz is a lighthearted, easily accessible dance. In a waltz, a couple sways back and forth as they go in a circle. Our emotions of this poem seem to follow this same path as we can see comforting and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The whiskey on his breath is not necessarily negative due to the factors of the working class culture in 1948 when this poem was published. To add on to this view that he is a hard worker with knuckles that are battered and a palm caked hard by dirt, the man is a grafter who works long and hard for the family he loves. The overwhelming joy he feels when he sees his son makes him want to dance in a waltz. Due to him and his father s height difference, the son s ear scraped on the father s belt buckle. The longer they dance the happier he get. This causes him to become more and more clumsier due to his drunken state, and it starts to become too much for the son the handle and begins to become very rough. This dance becomes so rough that the dancing causes the pans to fall to the floor and causes the son to, hang on like death to his father. The beating on his son s head is part of joy at the music he hears in his head. The mother remains an outsider to what is actually happening in front of her and is naturally unhappy due to the random disturbance the father makes. After the dance is over the son goes to bed and clings to his father s shirt in love and admiration for him. The negative side of this poem is an abusive drunken father. This is prevalent to his father s obvious drunkenness. This is tied together with the image of a knuckle, beating, belt buckle, and negativity in the word death. These ... • 3. Paleolithic Diet Research Paper Sara S. Heilman 11/00/17 3rd Hour The Modern Diet The Paleolithic Era started in about 200,000 BCE and ended in 10,000 BCE. The Paleolithic peoples were foragers, people who moved around to find food. They hunted and gathered their food. Paleolithic people ate meat, fruit, and wild grasses. Although the Paleolithic diet may seem more desirable than what the average person eats today, it is not. The average Modern diet is better than the Paleolithic diet because it reduces diseases and other disorders and has many added benefits. The first reason the average Modern diet is better than the Paleolithic diet is that it reduces diseases and other disorders. The average modern diet reduces the chance of cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because the Paleolithic diet does not accurately represent Paleolithic people s lifestyle. According to https://www.precisionnutrition.com humans began eating grasses at least three million years ago so grasses should be included in the Paleolithic diet. Next, Paleolithic people had a much more active life style than humans today. This is important because in order to get some of the benefits of the Paleolithic diet modern people have to not only eat the diet but live the lifestyle of our early ancestors. Finally, the diet of Paleolithic people depended on where they lived. This is important because the fruits and vegetables in the Modern diet are the same ones someone could eat if they were in the Paleodiet except the Modern diet has more ... • 4. Review Of Related Literature Of Starbucks Related Literature Truell, Allen, Milbier, Michael (2007) said that promotion is one of the four Ps of marketing price, product, place, and promotion. Promotion is generally thought of as a sequence of activities designed to inform and convince individuals to purchase a product, subscribe to a belief, or support a cause. All of the various tools available to marketing managers for promotional activities constitute what is known as the promotional mix. The promotional mix includes advertising, personal selling, public relations and sales promotion. According to Ingram (2009), advertising on the coffee shop s premises is a must for coffee shops. All coffee shops should have a facade that clearly distinguishes the establishment for what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On their website, on Facebook, on Twitter and in their blogs: individuals are encouraged to express their experiences with Starbucks history, and the company strives to personally join in the discussions. The Starbucks marketing strategy has always focused on word of mouth advertising and letting the high quality of their products and services speak for themselves. For years, this has been uniquely Starbucks, and it has played a huge part in making Starbucks Coffee Company a success. The definition of social media viral marketing speaks to this new word of mouth that Starbucks has run with and made their own. There is another coffee shop, the Indian Coffee House, which has been solely dependent on word of mouth advertising until now. It has been hugely successful because its patrons either blog about it and spread the word or suggest it to their friends. And the role of marketing communication in this case would be thus remind the consumer of the rich heritage of ICH by extending their word of mouth strategy through tools such as PR, social media and good will of the patrons. • 5. Upper Class And Social Class Body Social class profoundly affects an individual s academic achievement in school. In this case, social class shapes the attitudes and values of an individual which further influences their future both academically and professionally. Empirical evidence suggests that individuals/students attending college/university from a lower social class face difficulties when socially integrating into the school system leading to higher dropout rates and poor academic performance (Darnon, Jury, and Aelenei, 2017; Lehmann, 2007, 90). In comparison, a majority of individuals from a higher social class tend to succeed in their academic career (they complete university/college, high academic performance rates, etc.) (Darnon et al., 2017). This further infers that an obvious sociocultural difference continues to persist among individuals who belong to different social classes. Individuals from upper classes have the advantage of being at ease when integrating into the schooling system. This is due to the fact that upper class individuals often have parents who reinforce educational topics such as politics, world news, history, etc. within the home. This is supported by findings which indicate that one of the factors related to success among upper class students is their access to cultural capital (Callender and Mason, 2017, 24 27). Further, it is also important to take into consideration that individuals from the upper class often have parents with college/university degrees in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. End Of Life Planning I often find myself searching for ways to increase efficiency and effectiveness in my professional environment. When instructed to increase education about advance directives and end of life planning by leadership, I immediately approached this from a group perspective. I coordinated with Chaplain Services at the James Quillen VA and began leading a group focused on VA Form 10 0137 and end of life planning. Each page of the 5 page form was reviewed with every Veteran, questions were answered, and the Veteran s personal experience with end of life planning were discussed. Afterward, Veterans wanting to complete the form remained and were given one on one assistance with completing the form. In one month, we educated approximately 48 Veterans, ... As a result, we have been able to anticipate, plan for, and address the program s needs while being under staffed. We discuss topics such as the number of reassessments, review newly implemented changes to ensure they are effective and feasible to maintain, and we restructured work duties and both tackle those tasks that have been identified as teamwork tasks . These are tasks that either staff member can address as our schedule allows while both being aware that the task needs to be completed. While training as the Senior Social Worker for the Caregiver Support Program, I learned the staff had consistently struggled with obtaining feedback from providers which is mandated by the program s federal regulations. Utilizing my clinical skills, relationship building skills, and feedback I began educating providers and requesting feedback within a specific timeframe. It is now very rare that I am unable to obtain feedback from a treatment team member. I am now consistently receiving feedback from treatment team members within a few hours to four days for feedback. As a result, Veterans and Caregivers are receiving timely feedback while we adhere to federal regulations. As the Activities Coordinator at Bering Omega Community Services (2007 2008), I used client feedback when selecting and scheduling monthly activities and trips. Ultimately, attendance, participation, and morale increased. I also used feedback provided by staff and volunteers when organizing the annual volunteer banquet at Volunteer Baton Rouge (2006 2007). The number of banquet attendees tripled as a result. I have also led a committee focused on restructuring the HBPC interdisciplinary team meeting times to increase efficiency. • 7. Whoso List To Hunt I Know Where Is An Hind Poem Analysis Close Reading Exercise: Whoso List to Hunt, I Know Where is an Hind 1. In the poem Whoso List to Hunt, I Know Where is an Hind written by Sir Thomas Wyatt, in my opinion, the most appropriate meaning of the word hind is the female of the deer, esp. of the red deer (Oxford English Dictionary Online). 2. Using hind as a metaphor to a charming lady who is flirty but hard to approach is the central metaphor of this poem. In this sonnet, Sir Thomas Wyatt almost applied this metaphor throughout the entire poem. The language from line 1 to line 10 seems to focus on the activity of deer hunting: the speaker is attracted by a female deer and chases the deer from far behind, but he is exhausted and gives up as the deer flees; however, the use of she and her in these lines may be a suggestion of a metaphor. The last four lines then revealed the speech of using hind as a metaphor for lady by adding the components of diamonds , her fair neck and for Caesar s ; thus the readers could understand the real intention that hidden under the speaker s metaphor by comparing the similarity of a female deer and a fair lady: both are beautiful but wild. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The two enjambments in lines 5 and 6 increases the readers speed of reading, showing the eagerness and frustration when the speaker is chasing, the losing the deer/lady; meanwhile, the two end stopping in lines 7 and 8 slows down the readers reading speed, effectively suggesting the speaker s feeling of helpless and bitter by giving up the effort of pursuing. The rhyme of lines 5 8 follows the format of abba, which demonstrates the beauty of symmetry together with the consistent rhyme in lines 1 4; however, visual rhymes appear in the two words mind and wind , which stands out from the text, possibly showing the potential turbulence of speaker s mind ... • 8. Two Poem The Dead When thinking of World War I many different things come to mind. When thinking of the dawn of the 20th century one thinks of its 19th century legacies like the fin de siècle or the belle époque . Both of these ideas symbolize how the start of the 20th century meant different things to different people. The same can be said with the feelings and ideas attached to the great war. The feelings of war in the United States were much different then what was most likely felt among Europe. Also, the views of the allied powers were distinct from that of the axis power. However, despite all of these differences when looking at the collection of Great War Poems we see that for the soldiers it was all the same. By reading the words of the French, German, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even if they survived many of them came home in pieces and maimed. In the end all he got to show for it was the Croix de Guerre and a wooden leg. This was the unfortunate reality of many of the soldiers who were even lucky enough to return from the war. Another poem about death The Dead Beat talks about death in a straightforward and seemingly insensitive way. In the opening paragraph the author says that when the soldier dropped it Lay stupid like a cod, heavy like meat. This could seem crude to a reader, but this is how things were in times of war. In order to survive mentally as well as physically these men had to form a sense of detachment and at times even become inhumane. This crudeness is seen further in the closing line, That scum you sent last night soon died. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Rock And Roll In The 1970 s Rock and Roll all began in the 1950 s and we have the amazingly talented pioneer Chuck Barry to thank for that. Though Chuck Berry was the start of it all, Elvis Presley was the rebel that gave Rock and Roll a name and a face! This new genre of music took off once Elvis Presley began performing and the youth of the time could not get enough. Elvis Presley had introduced and widely popularized lyrics and dancing of a sexual nature. There was an unfortunate downfall of the rock stars in the 50 s due to the outrage of the adult community. Rock and Roll in the 1960 s was reborn thanks to the incredibly famous rock band known as The Beatles. The Beatles appearance on Ed Sullivan s television show in early 1964 launched Beatlemania in the United States, which led to the British Invasion . Another one of the big British bands that brought Rock and Roll back to life were The Rolling Stones. This band was also a part of the British Invasion of the United States. By the late 1970 s the rise of Black Pop, Reggae, and Disco had begun. A notable shift that took place in this era is Black Pop or Funk. James Brown was the father of Funk. His aggressive singing and rhythmic groove created what we know as funk today. A prime example of an artist of the Reggae style that was introduced in this decade was the one and only Bob Marley. • 10. The Theory Of The Existence Of A God Theodicy of God Men always wonder about their own existence. They ask questions that hinted an existence of a God. Like the common questions that was probably asked by all men; who created me? , what am I? , who am I? These questions lead to the topics on how Plato and Aristotle came up with their different theories that supports the idea of the existence of a God. The problem here is that we cannot know the existence of a God if there really is a God by just thinking by ourselves because we may have the mind to think but we may also not have the capacity to think like Plato and Aristotle from which they are the main philosophers that the Medieval philosophers like Saint Bonaventure based their work not just by simply agreeing on the works of Aristotle or Plato but by commenting on their works and continuing or extending what their works are. The theory of forms by Plato indicates that there is a Primary Being that can be perceive through the use of the mind wherein reason is the main instrument being used in order to see what you cannot perceive using your external senses. The external sense cognition by Aristotle from which uses the five senses of a human person which are the sight, touch, smell, hearing, and taste. The world that we perceive by the use of our external senses make us believe that there is a God that created all that we see, smell, touch, hear, and taste. Reduction In Force Process Administrators are very important for all companies as they are assigned sensitive and specific roles that make certain the company operates at its optimum capacity. At the same time, administrators ensure all employees perform their expected duties within the company. Among all the roles the administrators are assigned, conducting a Reduction In Force (RIF) in the company is one of them. Reduction in the workforce in any company should be handled professionally and amicably whilst ensuring that the company, the administration, and the employees are all in understanding at that point. The termination of an employee s employment or contract should only take place when a company can no longer sustain the entire workforce in addition to not meeting its goals and objectives. Growing Population In Uk Essay Briefing Note for The Minister: Report on the issues caused by the growing population of Deer within the UK The occupants of Great Britain are well accustomed to the species of deer often sighted around its country sides and nature reserves. However, increasing numbers are causing great strains on parks and causing an alarming rate of injuries to people and even fatalities due to road accidents involving deer. In the coming years the number of accidents is expected to exceed the over 30,000 recorded in 2006 in Great Britain (Pokorny, 2006). The Red Deer (Cervus elaphus) and Roe Deer (Capreolus capreolus) populations are increasing in number, as well as increasing their distribution throughout the UK (PostReport, 2009). In addition to these two native species, there are a further four species of deer that had been introduced to private parks in the UK in the past. The Sika, Muntjac and Chinese water deer have made the UK their home for the past 150 years, as well as the Fallow Deer which has been around much longer. The growing populations of deer are affecting the biodiversity, ecology (Fuller Gill, 2001) and economy within the surrounding areas. Introduction The retail sector plays a pivotal role in the development of UK economy, contributing £180 billion to GDP in 2014, 11% of the total. This industry employed about 4.4 million people in 2014, 15.8% of the UK labour, becoming the largest broad industrial group by the quantity and proportion of employees. 539,000 enterprises operating in the retail industry in the UK makes account for 10.3% of all UK businesses. Therefore, the failure of retail companies can lead to adverse impact on not only shareholders, employees but also the whole economy. Those are the reasons why the UK government has focused on the development of this industry and also made an effort to prevent the bankruptcy in the retail sector. Figure 1. % change on the previous year of economic output in retail sector and whole economy According to Niemira (1996), retail industry tends to be more vulnerable to the ups and downs of the economy than other industries. To illustrate by Figure 1, in 2007, the retail sector grew faster than the UK economy. Nevertheless, when the recession began in late 2007, a quicker and deeper decline than the whole economy could be seen. At the bottom in Q2 2009, output from the retail industry dropped by 9.3% compared with 2008 while the output from the whole economy decreased by 5.8% in that quarter (Rhodes, 2014) The history witnessed many notable bankruptcy cases in the retail industry including Montgomery Ward, Macy s, Zale, Brooks Fashion, Revco, Hooker and Dart ... • 19. The Relationship Of Emotions And Investment Essay Introduction This paper is provided as an analysis between the relationship of emotions and investment. Specifically, there will be an emphasis on the feelings, self control, and how our decision making play a role in investing. This paper will also include a detailed summary of the emotional states of misattribution bias, positive and negative emotions, pessimism and optimism. Lastly, this paper will contain an explanation of how this behavior influences investing, and how to alleviate this comportment through self control. Emotional states, feelings Our emotions can control how we think and how we go about specific situations. This can be about work, personal, or more specifically investment decisions. Essentially, an individual who is in a good mood will feel more lenient in their financial decisions, and act more loosely with their finances in regards to investments. Individual who are in a good mood as opposed to those in a bad mood have a more positive outlook on their future. However, this is not always a good thing. The individuals who embrace investments with a more positive outlook are more likely to take on riskier investments, thus opening the door to more susceptible losses. This is known as misattribution bias, and can lead individual investors astray during the course of their initial investments (Nofsinger, J., 2014, pp. 108 113). Needless to say, the influence of emotions and feelings have an impact on the investment decisions of individuals. A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People use restaurants as social hangouts, places for business meetings and homes away from home, so any restaurant s customers might seem more like family than customers, but when something goes wrong, I ve found that restaurateurs quickly realize that these family members are actually part of a long term business relationship that generates high levels of risk and legal liabilities. I ve worked in the restaurant business for many years as a cook, server, chef, manager and restaurant owner and sold advertising to fine dining restaurants and major hospitality venues, so I ve learned a few things about the restaurant business that even experienced restaurateurs might miss. Restaurants face risks that can be roughly classified into financial, operating and marketing perils, and I urge restaurant owners to address each of these potential risks proactively. Tsar(The Emperor of russia before 1917) was forced to abdicate. Tsar was a very unfair leader (just like Mr.jones) and Russia s minorities became hard to control under his domination. D. oxygen. E. carbon dioxide. Cellular respiration occurs in both plant and animal cells. Both types of cells are very similar, containing similar organelles such as the mitochondria. The mitochondria is the site of cellular respiration, where glucose and oxygen can be used to produce ATP and carbon dioxide. In plant cells energy is created through the process of photosynthesis, the conversion of energy from the sun into chemical energy. Autotrophs are able to utilize photosynthesis to sustain themselves without consuming food to obtain energy. The site of photosynthesis takes place in the cell s chloroplast (Citovsky, Lecture 20). A large, concentrated portion of chloroplast can be found within the plant s mesophyll, the interior of a leaf. Photosynthesis is broken down into two stages: light reactions and the Calvin cycle. Through light reactions, solar energy can be converted into chemical energy (Campbell, pg. 189). In the Calvin cycle, usable energy in the form of sugars are synthesized from carbon dioxide. Since they are such an old culture many people wonder how they were able to remain in existence for so long while of culture perished around them. The answer can be found in their adaptive nature; having such a close bound with the land around them, taught the aboriginals the importance of change and adapting (Australia.gov.au). While it might be debatable that Australia s natives are the longest surviving culture, there is no doubt that the Aborigines animistic religion is the oldest existing.
