Jugamos Con Ninos Case Study
Jugamos con Ninos Jugamos con Ninos is a parenting group for Latino mothers at Children Medical
Practice within John Hopkins Bayview Hopsital founded by Joshua Barnes a social worker. Barnes
created the program a social worker at the Children Medical Practice at Bayview Hospital. His
inspiration to build this program at Bayview Hospital was inspire by his colleague Jessica Contreras a
community health worker at Bayview Hospital and the founder of the program Jugamos Con Ninos at
Casey Family Services. Joshua volunteered to work with Jessica and since has noticed how impactful
the program was for new mothers and mothers that don t understand how important it is to build
effective parenting skills. After, observing the influence that the program had on the mothers that
attended the meetings he immediately requested that this program should be created at the clinic for
the mothers in the Hispanic culture. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because in the Hispanic culture mothers are the caregivers. Motherhood is highly valued and
families expect women to care for children as well as family members. Their role is to nurture while
the husband is at work leaving them with no actual support system. This at times can be difficult for
new mothers and mothers who are not aware of the importance of parenting. This program was
created to teach mothers about how their behavior can affect their child, understand the importance of
parenting skills, and keeping mothers aware that their actions impact their child s future. The goal of
the program is family

Johnny Appleseed Essay
The legend of Johnny Appleseed developed from the historical account of John Chapman because the
two characters have many similarities in their traits and their journey. Basically, Johnny Appleseed and
Jonathan Chapman are the same people, but the legend exaggerates his character traits, and the
historical accounts state the facts about him. In both accounts, he is very religious because he has his
Bible, which shows Christian belief, with him. The two people also plant apple trees throughout the
frontiers of America. Johnny Appleseed/John Chapman endured many hardships, but Johnny
Appleseed endured more difficulties than John Chapman. Therefore, the legend of Johnny Appleseed
is an exaggeration of the historical account of John Chapman.

Each year, he traveled hundreds of miles on foot wearing a coffee sack with holes cut out for arms and
carrying a cooking pot, which he is said to have worn like a cap over his flowing hair. This quote is
from the historical account of John Chapman. He encountered many hardships in his journey to the
frontiers of America. Summer and winter he wore only a burlap sack cut with armholes and a cooking
pot as a hat... He slept outdoors and ate only meals of bread and milk so as not to harm any creature in
the pursuit of food. Even those nights when a frontier family took him in, he refused a bed in favor of
the floor and requested only porridge to eat. He carried no weapons and he wore no shoes. Folks
marveled at his ability to walk barefoot through snow and brambles without pain. Once, they say, a
venomous snake failed to bite Johnny s foot because his skin was tough as leather. This quote is from
the legend of Johnny Appleseed, and it shows all of the hardships John Chapman faced, and much
more. This shows that the makers of the legend of Johnny Appleseed used the real John Chapman s
hardship and endurance as well as adding more hardships to make the legend more entertaining. John
Chapman also wore a burlap sack and a cooking pot as a hat, as described in the historical text, but he
didn t do the other things listed above. Therefore, people like to hear Johnny Appleseed more than

Single Sex Classrooms Helps Increase Self Esteem
Single Sex Education is considered to be a teaching system that has been implemented in schools all
over world, from long ago and little still today. That means that girls and boys are instructed in
separate schools or classrooms. How does single sex education benefits students? That is the question
that some parents make themselves when their sons enter school. Researches demonstrate that single
sex classrooms helps increase self esteem; offer an environment that students feel more confortable in
which will lead to better classroom discussions; Increases in subjects that certain genders are usually
not interested can also be beneficial. Nowadays very few schools apply this system, for it is well
known the benefits that Co education offers. Co Education is another teaching system that gained
popularity some years ago and it is about that male and female are in mixed classrooms. What is the
importance of co education in our society? That has become a vital part of every institution, helping
students from both genders to construct a mutual understanding between them. Some benefits of co
education are: it helps and teaches how to be successful by working together; removes thoughts of
superiority and inferiority between students from single sex education; students in co educational
schools grow to be confident expressing their view in the presence of the opposite sex; for both
genders co education provides more realistic way for students to face their places in the wider

Evaluation Of A Business Will Greatly Influence The Course...
Week 4 Reflection: Introduction to Segmentation
The strategy or objectives of a business will greatly influence the course of action they will take. The
most effective and efficient way to segment a market can depend greatly on the type of product or
service and, ultimately, their goals for a strategy. I find it interesting to know that companies will
consider factors such as psychographic and behavioural methods in particular because they are not
things I automatically assume are important to a business. Demographic, benefits and geographic
factors appear much more important to me but on further study i realised that businesses will use a
combination of a the methods to be more effective. Companies such as Black Milk, who earn most of
their profits online consider demographic, behavioural and psychographic much more than geographic
methods as the internet offers them a channel for greater customer scope than if they were to target
particular locations.
Companies will also evaluate the attractiveness of a market to determine whether they should pursue
it. The criteria for this evaluation seems appeal to the universal objectives of businesses so in that
sense, it extremely effective. The identifiably of a customer is important so that companies are able to
strategies effectively. The segment must also be substantial enough for business to be conducted
profitably, which can happen in different scales. For example, my two jobs which both involve fast
food services appear to

Incorporation Of Emotions And The Workplace
Incorporation of Emotions in the Workplace
It is a general understanding that emotions and the workplace do not go along. Nonetheless, emotions
are an imminent part of who we are as humans, and emotions are present in influencing our everyday
activities and decisions. This makes it highly unlikely and utopic to believe that emotions will not be
part of our workplace. The true issue is how to cope with it and how much is in fact too much. Anne
Kreamer is a former high executive at Nickelodeon who wrote a book that deals with these issues and
concerns, and she wisely addresses them by first defining concepts, and then giving alternatives as to
what to do and how to deal with them. She successfully has achieved through her book to reach out to
the entire population, and deal with a taboo issue straightforward without affecting sensibilities, and
instead opening the minds of millions who have had the opportunity to read her book titled It s always
personal: Navigating Emotion in the New Workplace. She manages to incorporate real life experiences
and concerns, as well as biological and scientifically proven facts about emotion, followed by tools
and exercises that help people cope with everyday feelings and emotions at the workplace, and even
more important, she developed four character descriptions, none of which are mutually exclusive and
instead overlap, but all equally important assets to any company. Her book has great impact because
she deals with this topic that has

Rhetorical Analysis Of Founding Brothers By Joseph Ellis
Founding Brothers, written by Joseph Ellis, is an outstanding read for anyone interested in learning
more about the United States Founding Fathers. Published in 2000 by Alfred A. Knopf, many have
recommended the novel. This great book takes the reader through the time where the United States
developed the government that is similar to the one used today. One is able to visualize and perceive
what it was like for all of the Founding Fathers to interact with one another. Founding Brothers hit key
points as well as gave personal information on the Founding Fathers of the United States. By doing
that, it made the reader feel more involved. When Joseph Ellis had written Founding Brothers, he kept
in mind rhetorical appeals such as ethos, pathos, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was extremely helpful throughout reading since Founding Brothers is a historical novel. Using
accurate facts was a great way for Ellis to persuade readers into believing his thoughts while also
being truthful. He included many important dates. One of the most important dates happens to be July
4, 1826. This was a significant date considering it was the day both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson
passed away as well as Independence Day. Not only did Ellis use specific dates when talking about
deaths, but elections as well. One important election mentioned was the election of 1800 where John
Adams, Aaron Burr, and Thomas Jefferson all ran, but John Adams s won the Presidency. Also, Ellis
included other important facts that the average person may or may not know. This could be an event
like The Duel or even the strong friendship between John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. One thing
Ellis really took into consideration was The Farewell Address written by George Washington. Ellis
mentioned that Washington published it in a newspaper rather than just share it with his fellow friends.
Washington had wanted to reach all white men of the United States and not just the people in the
senate. Lastly, Ellis included a lot of evidence throughout his writing. The Farewell Address is in fact
hard evidence of what truly happened as well as the letters exchanged between Adams and Jefferson.
However, another piece of evidence shared were the petitions against slavery, one of which was signed
by Benjamin Franklin. Throughout Founding Brothers, Joseph Ellis made sure to use logos to ensure
his book was full of facts and not just

The Bloody Chamber
As a feminist, it is almost to be expected that many of Angela Carter s happy ever after endings will
strike the reader with a bold feminist message. However, in The Bloody Chamber, this is not
necessarily the case. Although there are several feminist messages in the stories resolutions, these
messages are not always presented in the way one would expect, and not every female protagonist is
presented as a feminist character. By taking the roles of typically Gothic women and toying with the
presentation of female characters, many of Carter s feminist messages are not as one would expect.
The eponymous story The Bloody Chamber ends with a sense of resolution, love and happiness. The
antagonist of the story is no more, and the narrator is able to live a happy and fulfilling life with Jean
Yves. Whether the ending is truly feminist, however, is open to discussion. In one respect, the actual
resolution to the story is all down to the narrator s mother, who is presented at the story s climax as an
incredibly powerful female figure. Carter uses masculine and bestial imagery to describe the mother,
in a way that is not dissimilar to earlier imagery to describe the Marquis. The narrator refers to her
mother s hair as her white mane ; just as earlier she had referenced the Marquis s dark mane . The
juxtaposition between light and dark here is a typical example of Gothic extremes; while the Marquis
seems to represent darkness the supernatural and evil the mother is

The Use Of Cell Phones While Driving
It is known that the use of cell phones while driving decreases driver awareness and overall road
safety, and in response to this knowledge, some states have passed laws that have prohibited the use of
handheld devices. However, there are no laws banning hands free cell phone usage, despite research
claiming hands free devices are just as dangerous handheld devices, but does their usage distract
drivers enough to the point where states should legally ban the total use cell phones while driving?
The following will introduce arguments for both sides of this topic, one for hands free cell phone
usage and the other against cell phones usage entirely. It should be illegal to use hands free devices
while driving because research from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, the cell phone group rated themselves worse in driving performance before and after the
simulator. This indicates that driver performance is impaired by cell phone use and drivers generally
know their driving is worse when using hands free devices, therefore, the use of such devices should
be illegal. Other evidence against hands free cell phone use while driving is simply that talking on
hands free devices is just as bad as talking on handheld devices in relation to driver performance
(Ishigami Klein, 2009). To determine this, Ishigami and Klein (2009) reviewed the results of several
separate studies that investigated the impacts of handheld and hands free cell phone usage on the
detection reaction times of drivers. These studies were: Abdel Aty (2003), Burns et al. (2002),
Consiglio et al. (2003), Haigney et al. (2000), McEvoy et al. (2005), Patten et al. (2004), Redelmeier
and Tibshirani (1997), Strayer and Johnson (2001), Strayer, Drews, and Crouch (2006), and Törnros
and Boiling (2005, 2006). Consiglio et al. studied the effects of auditory distractions, such as cell
phone, by measuring the reaction time of participants using a non driving, braking task where
participants released an accelerator and applied the brakes if a red light were shown. The control
group performed the task without auditory stimulation. Strayer and Johnson (2001) examined the
effects of phone conversation on reaction time with a computer pursuit tracking task.

Satyam Case
CASE STUDY: MARCH 2012 SEMESTER I. Analyze the case and respond to the following
questions: a) Discuss the earnings management techniques employed by the management of Satyam.
Earning management or creative accounting is referred to the manipulation or misrepresentation of the
company s financial earnings in order to achieve stable and positive financial position. This was
achieve through directly or indirectly use of the accounting methods. Even though the manipulation
may follow all the accounting standards and laws, they may go opposite of what the standards and
laws were originally trying to establish. Therefore, earning management is often considered materially
misleading and referred to a fraudulent activity.

Because of the pressure situation, he finally decided to come into decision to manipulate the company
s earnings and engaged in fraudulent activities.
The other factor that motivated Satyam to manage their earnings is due to the need to maintain a
competitive position within the financial market. Satyam Computer Services is among of the top
leading company in Indian IT industry. If Satyam fails to shows that company is operating in
profitable manner and he discloses the real loss of the company it will cause the investors and public
loss confidence in them. Therefore, they will not be able to place the company s name as the leading
company of IT services and unable to compete with the other top leading IT companies. Because of
this reason, Ramalingam Raju had engaged in fraudulent activities.
In addition, factors that may motivate managers of Satyam want to manage their earnings is because
of their personal gains such as bonus and they might be belief that the laws and regulations can be
easily be bypassed. The managers will be rewarded with bonus if the company shows a high profit. So
in order to get the bonus Satyam was motivated to commit fraud. Since earning management was a
complex techniques that are not easily to trace, this make Satyam feel confident that involving in
earning management will not be caught. But as the consequences, due to too much gap between the
real earnings figures with the reported earnings figures, Satyam was not be able to hide the

Are Classic Cars Reliable And Safe Essay
Are classic cars reliable and safe? Some of us are plagued with the idea that classic cars are unreliable.
Whether it be an idea directly associated to a vehicle s age or a distant memory of an experience we
had with our first used car, the question remains; are classic cars reliable and safe?
The engine
As we ve seen throughout this blog, there is a substantial amount of classic car owners that care for
their classic vehicles as if it were a family member.
They perform regimented pre season preparation, ensuring that all fluids, belts, gaskets and levels are
in check, which would equate to a family member s annual check up.
We would even be bold enough to say that classic cars, with their old school mechanics and
manufacturing are possibly even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whether we re looking at a drum or a disc braking system, or a mix of both, we simply must ensure
that our classic car s braking system provides adequate (safe) braking.
Also, considering that airbags and the standard safety features we find in today s vehicles are simply
absent in classic cars, appropriate awareness and precautions must therefore be exercised when
driving in a classic vehicle with family or children.
Conclusion
We think we ve safely dismissed the notion that classic vehicles are not mechanically reliable as they
tend to be driven less than modern vehicles, while having just as much or more care applied to them
by diligent owners.
Additionally, we concluded that the classic vehicles were held to the safety standards that were in
place at the time of their manufacture, so by and large, are safe.
This being said, as classic cars tend to be driven less frequently, less aggressively, driven during
daylight hours, less far and during better weather, the classic car mishaps tend to be few and far
between.
All in all, from the mechanics and brakes, to the seatbelts, we believe that if you have a classic car on
your hands they tend to be reliable and safe.

The History Of Sexuality, Volume 1, By Michel Foucault
In Part V of The History of Sexuality, Volume 1, Michel Foucault documents the historical shift from
a sovereign power concentrated in death to a normalized, institutionalized regulation of life focused in
part on the control of sexuality. He argues that this movement marks not only a reconceptualization of
the living subject as a valuable source of both labor and production but also a new political interest in
sex as a site of surveillance, classification, and management. Individuals in the contemporary social
order define themselves and are defined through their relation to sex and sexuality, so while sex might
feel taboo and thus appear to subvert social control, it in fact operates within a hegemonic system of
meaning and thus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sex, then, represents a significant locus of power because: It fitted in both categories at once, giving
rise to infinitesimal surveillances, permanent controls, extremely meticulous orderings of space,
indeterminate medical or psychological examinations, to an entire micro power concerned with the
body. But it gave rise as well to comprehensive measures, statistical assessments, and interventions
aimed at the entire social body or at groups taken as a whole. Sex was a means of access both to the
life of the body and the life of the species. (146) The movement from a symbolic of blood to an
analytics of sexuality (148) from a power concentrated in death to one concentrated in life resulted in
an increased concern with naming and documenting individual presentations of sexuality, in part
because sex provided, and continues to provide, a way to access both the life of an individual and the
life of a population. In contemporary society, power operates not only through the surveillance and
categorization of sexualities, but also through a valorization of the act of sex as a key component to
identity formation. Though Western culture often conceives of sex as natural, and thus divorced from
the politics of power, Foucault argues that sex is the most speculative, most ideal, and most internal
element in a deployment of sexuality organized by power (155). What

The Final Solution from Witnesses to the Holocaust
The years of 1941 and 1942 paint a vivid description of ugly, taking place events too hard to take in,
and the death of 6 million innocent people. The Final Solution in an excerpt from Witnesses to the
Holocaust: An Oral History, where Sam Bankhalter and Hinda Kibort detail their horrifying account of
Hitler s rash and day to day life in the Nazi concentration camps where they were imprisoned. The
Final Solution was a plan systematically matriculated by the Nazi to exterminate European Jews by
placing them in work camps designed for certain death.
Sam Bankhalter was just fourteen at the time when he was captured by the Nazis in his native land of
Poland and exiled to Auschwitz. In a detailed account he paints the picture of life as a Jew during
Hitler s fury and the unimaginable accounts of terror that occurred. According to Bankhalter, racism of
European Jews was already occurring in Poland even before Hitler invaded, and their slogan was Jew
get out of here and go to Palestine. He accounts of being beaten and spit on the school grounds on a
daily basis, long before Hitler invaded. Bankhalter describes his journey to the ghetto as laced with
barbed wire and Nazi mocking Jews cutting off men s beards and beating them as they yelled at the
Jews to assemble. The Nazi s only gave them about twenty minutes to pack, leaving them time to only
gather the necessities, which would only be stripped from them later. Bankhalter was only in the

Essay on The Fifth Child
The Fifth Child
The word quot;monster quot; has many definitions. Some define it as a creature having a frightening
or strange appearance. It is also defined as one that inspires horror or disgust. Ben certainly fits into all
of these categories.
He was different right from pregnancy. He looks extremely frightening, almost like a Neanderthal.
Ben is an outcast even in an institution for quot;nature s mistakes. quot; From the moment Harriet
became pregnant it was apparent to her that something was obviously wrong. She loved having

None of the other children were more than seven. He was heavy shouldered and hunched over. His

focused on Harriet from the moment he was born. quot;He s like a troll, or a goblin or something.

Although Harriet was apprehensive, David, as well as the entire family, decided it was best if they put
Ben into an institution. A small black van came one morning to take Ben away. This institution was
not a place that prepared children to become part of society. It was a horrific place that kept all their
patients completely drugged and starved them until they eventually died. There were all types of
quot;mistakes quot; here. Numerous cots engrossed the hallways containing children whose
appearances were hideous at best. One child lacked the back of his skull, exposing his brain. Another
was literally split in two.
Amongst these terrible tragedies, Ben still managed to stick out. He was so incredibly strong that he
warranted his own room, more sedatives than any other child had ever received, and had to remain in
a strait jacket 24 hours a day.
quot;He s so strong I ve never seen anything like it. quot; Said the girl at the institution. (p. 83)

Sacrifice Is Sacrifice
Another fact is that no vision can be accomplished without sacrifice. Together with personal discipline
is sacrifice, which is another word that people interpret as meaning that they have to give up some
things for one thing that they enjoy doing. It generally means sacrificing something of a low nature to
get a better thing or a thing of a higher nature.
Sacrifice is really all about making daily choices to stay on the narrow road to success. Instead of
buying a video game to exercise your thumbs, buying instructional books and manuals to improve
knowledge and increase prospects is a sacrifice. Instead of doing what you want to do, doing what is
necessary to become the best is a sacrifice. I wanted to become a good athlete in my secondary school
inter house sport day, so I set a daily routine and stuck with it, even when I did not feel like it. I would
go to a field in the neighborhood, run from one end to the other, day in and day out. In the school inter
house sport day that year, I won two gold medals, 100m race and 200m race. This is sacrifice. Without
the need, desire and determination to improve, people lack the means to develop and therefore will not
make any sacrifices.
Sacrifice is being willing to give up something good for something better. Life is full of boundless

What Caused The 981 Airplane Crash
March 3, 1974 a catastrophe occurred outside of Paris. Turkish Airlines flight 981 out of Paris
experienced a chain reaction of unfortunate events, that lead to the eventual crash of the plane, and the
complete fatality of every passenger on board the plane. The DC 10 aircraft, designed by the plane
company McDonnell Douglas, crashed in a forest 10 minutes after taking off from Paris. People who
have analyzed this accident, have looked into what caused this plane to crash and take the life of all
346 passengers on board? Among the analysts are three different types of accident theories that try to
explain why the plane crashed and how the crash could have been avoided and spared the life of

10 minutes after take off the cargo door on the underside of the plane opened and got ripped off. The
cause for this was the locking pins that were supposed to lock in the latch on the plane locked, but the
latch had not latched onto the bar so the plane s cargo door was not locked and due to the g force on
the plane during takeoff and ascent into the sky the door was compromised. This event caused a chain
reaction of events to occur. After this happened the pressure from the outside acclimated with the

Analysis Of St. Douglas s The Book Of Speed
Chapter ST in the Book of Speed.
Tangerine Scream was the perfect name for the tri coat patina smothering the body of a delicious 2015
Ford Focus ST five door hatchback, a model tasked with teasing and pleasing me recently. Indeed, the
ST s bright finish served as an exclamation point on a model with more attitude between the wheels
than some far more expensive sports cars.
If you aren t familiar with ST, then allow me to rip a chapter from the book of all things speed. ST is a
line of sporty vehicles from Ford Performance, representing the racing arm of the Ford Motor
Company. The ST line is currently composed of the Ford Fiesta ST and the Ford Focus ST. Moreover,
a near ST like Fusion Sport sedan is due for release in 2017.
Both ST models are new to Ford fans in the US, but the line has long been familiar to European fans.
North American car buyers now have access to these models because of the company s One Ford
initiative: in essence, Ford is now selling nearly all its models across multiple markets.
From Europe, With Performance
Previously, some of Europe s best vehicles were held back from the US. Beginning in 2008 that all
began to change as the Euro spec Fiesta and Focus were soon sent across the Atlantic. New ST models
followed and now Ford has a pair of hot hatchbacks to segue to the handsome Mustang.
So, what s the big deal about the Focus ST? Besides its tricked out visage with special skirting, alloy
wheels, summer tires, unique lights and fascias, and

The Mind And The Brain
Over many years, scientists and philosophers have asked the question: is there any difference in the
mind and the brain? These genius minds have searched without sleep trying to figure out this question,
but, the puzzles behind our consciousness remain unsolved and unreachable. Philosophers such as
Peter Carruthers argue that the mind is the brain and that objections like those made by, philosopher,
Frank Jackson, are based on a conflation of know how with knowing that. Again, we are left with the
question of whether or not the mind is the brain or if the mind is a completely separate entity in itself.
In order to figure this, very difficult and confusing question out, an overview of some philosophical
theories can be made, along with an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pluralism is the view that there are many kinds or categories. (Robinson) In a gist, pluralism argues
that, fundamentally, there is a single reality but it may present a different aspect of that reality. Before
evaluating whether there is an existing relationship between the brain and the mind, there should be an
explanation of what the mind is. One answer to the concept of the mind is that it causes a conscious
experience and that it is a program or, wholly a system that monitors behavior. To break it down more
simply, the mind can be defined as consciousness. Consciousness can, most obviously, be defined as
the awareness of the things happening around us as well as the awareness that we exist. If we come to
an assumption that the mind is a conscious happening, does mind control brain or is mind the result of
what the brain is processing? Studies of the cognitive mind have gone so far as to argue that
consciousness may arise from cellular or sub cellular level of organization rather than, what is
scientifically assumed, nerve circuitry. (Thagard) Alternatively, a certain conscious experience, by
itself, cannot reckon for the mind as a major part of the behavior we display unconsciously. Some
things, such as brightness and size, are preserved by our nervous system, falling below widely
changing environmental things such as distance and light. (Thagard) Our consciousness is not
immediately necessary for learning. For example, preparing is usually

Why Wear A Skate Shoe
Introduction
Over the past two decades or so, skater fashion has nonchalantly strolled its way out of the skateparks
and into the mainstream. Because we are so used to seeing people wearing skate shoes in everyday
life, it is easy to forget that they play a pretty important role in the development of a skater s arsenal.
Whether you re a veteran of the half pipe or new to it all, read on to find the best skate shoe for you.
Why Wear A Skate Shoe?
If you re just starting out in the world of skating, you may be a little skeptical about the difference a
pair of shoes can make. After all, doesn t skating encourage you to revolt against the status quo,
embrace your weirdness, and wear what you want? Yes, of course it does, but all of that ... Show more

Of course, owing to the high demands of skating, skaters tend to go through shoes at a rapid pace
anyway, but the most hardcore of skaters would find themselves replacing their skate shoes on an
almost daily basis were it not for the triple stitch.
Cupsoles Or Vulcanized?
Despite the fact millions of people believe they can determine one, there is no clear winner between
cupsole or vulcanized skate shoes. In the end, it comes down to which shoe is better for you, which is
determined by the kind of skating you want to do.
Cupsoles are the heavier, padded shoe of the two and generally provide greater shock absorption and
comfort. Owing to their ability to protect the foot and ankle, cupsoles are generally recommended to
skaters who plan to jump from high distances or perform a lot of aerials while on the board. Cupsoles
tend to last a little longer than their vulcanized counterparts.
While vulcanized skate shoes don t offer the padding of cupsoles, they do make it possible to achieve
greater control of your board, meaning they are perfect for tricks like grinds and slides. Thinner and
more flexible, they are most suited to those who plan to wear their skate shoes both in and out of the
park.
For those who are interested, a video comparison of a cupsole skate shoe and its vulcanized alternative
can be found below.

Go Show Critique
To Go Show 1
There were five performances at this To Go Show. All were amazing, but I will focus on just one for
this critique, I will be talking about my favorite performance. The first one was Conformity vs
Nonconformity (No comfort zone) By Deseree Hook in collaboration with Uriah Huffman. This dance
was about how everything you want lies behind a wall of fear. Power: The Contraction of visibility by
Meredith Yuhas with the dancers Taylor Dumdei, Rekha Letsinger, Ashley French, Naja Copeland,
Demery Trantham, Destiny Smith, Uriah Huffman, and Lydia Ray; This piece was about how people

The overall time and energy of the dance is what I will be discussing next. The time of the piece, it

Imperialism And Militarism
It may be difficult to lay the blame of an entire world war on a singular country, but many historians
agree that Austria Hungary and Germany carry the weight of the blame of for the occurrence of World
War I. The historians Professor John Rohl (University of Sussex), Dr. Annika Mombauer (The Open
University), and Professor Gary Sheffield (University of Wolverhampton) all agree that Germany s
support of Austria Hungary with the blank cheque when they declared war on Serbia forced the hand
of other countries to join. Imperialism and militarism played a large role in the eagerness for Germany
and Austria Hungary to begin a war. Militarism was a large in factor in why both Germany and Austria
Hungary were more than willing to declare war on Serbia. Both countries had knowledge that it would
most certainly escalate into a European war at the very least, given Russia s interest in preventing the
expansion of the Austria Hungary empire further into the Balkans. Dr. Annika Mombauer believes that
war was avoidable; Germany put pressure on Austria Hungary to declare war, viewing it as a

Essay On The Color Of The Physician s Skin
I have seen several occasions online specifically where the nurse or doctor is a person of color and the
patient outright refuses to be seen or touched by them simply because of the color of their skin. In my
opinion, this is a form of anchoring simply because the patient is taking a small amount of
information, the color of the physician s skin without looking at their work experience or
certifications. The specific issue I was referencing pertain to biases regarded the patients being treated
as incompetent because of the color of their skin and a doctor simply began over taking a patient
because the assumption was he knew better than the patients which might be true however, doing so
disrespected their wishes. Schroeder, elaborated on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Normally what is the age demographic of people in this profession? Yes, people should be smart
enough to treat every situation as different however, that is not always the case everyone has biases.
Jill Suttie expanded on these ideas directly pertaining to teachers however, they can apply to almost
any situation. (2016) The first step is admitting you have certain biases or ideologizes pertain to
certain groups of people that you simply don t apply to others. The second step is trying to view
someone else s perspective because at the end of the day they have feelings just like you. Prating kind
affirmations is also ideal don t go into any situation assuming the worst when you don t have all the
facts! (Suttie, 2016). Another form of bias that individuals might generally practice is assuming you
already know the answer with seeing all the variables. This tends to happen when an individual
becomes complacent. For example, if the flu is going around and a child presents some of the
symptoms if the physician was experiencing tunnel vision they would assume the patient had the flu
and not something more serious like meningitis. Or most people that I ve come across right off women

Body Image Of Women
Body image pertains to judgement about themselves or about their body perspective. But, what do you
expect when the media is covered in pictures of perfect models and celebrities? Women s self esteem
is lowering because they look at these women in comparison to themselves and they do not like the
difference between the two, which leads them to belief that they need to change themselves. The
media has gotten way out of hand with body image, and not in a good way. Women believe that the

Models can get a bunch of things worked on to make them appear to be perfect. They can get surgeries
that can fix any flaws that they have. If they hate something about themselves they can pay someone
to fix their flaws. They can get their body parts fixed and they can change anything and they can
improve their perspective of themselves. Magazines can also photoshop and edit pictures to make
people look better than they actually look. They can change what their hair looks like, what their eyes
look like, and their teeth too. They can change heir body shape to make their body figure look better.
Women do not realize that people can change a picture pretty fast and make them look like someone
different. They can edit their photos but they cant always change what their make up and hair color
and everything else looks like because all of the good apps cost a lot of money and require brains and
style to be able to function the app. Women want to be compared to women in a model status and one
day wish they could look like them but if someone as myself could learn how to photoshop pictures
then I would show women that I could change them as fast as other people can change those models
that they look up too. Women body image has horrible out looks on women. It gives them insecurities
and believes that they need to be someone else that they clearly are not but they think they needed to

Security Vs Cold War
In terms of national security and intelligence work the Cold War is truly over. This does not mean the
United States is not currently involved in situations that are similar. During the Cold War the U.S was
involved in political hostility with a major state, the Soviet Union. The Cold War was fought on a
number of different battlefields though proxy wars between major states. The proxy wars involved
direct military actions by one side while the other side funded the enemy. We can see an example of
this type of conflict in the Vietnam War. These conflicts also involved a much larger footprint than we
currently see in examples today. The Cold War utilized different states that had similar political
mindsets, usually communism or democracy. Communist backed political parties continually sided
with other communist states. During the Cuban missile crisis we saw the communist led Cuba allowed
their tactical position against the U.S. available to the Soviet Union. Today we have not seen to that
degree a viable threat to the U.S. homeland.

Introduction The prophecy of the Temple in Ezekiel 40 48 is said to be one of the most difficult
portion of scripture. Many commentators have proposed varying views and approaches. It has even
been reported that the Jews do not allow anyone to read it until they are 30 years of age.
[footnoteRef:1]Despite this difficulty, it is a vital portion of scripture necessary to the understanding
of the Messiah and the principle of salvation. Accordingly, this discussion will examine both the literal
and figurative interpretations of this vision to show their strengths and weaknesses in light of the New

of genre of the this song, how does the cogitation of the song change? Scott Bradlee s version of
Creep suggests a sad person who is explaining the things wrong with them; meanwhile the Radiohead

The major reason why this causes a dramatic difference between the meaning of the songs is that,
again, it changes the relationship of the singer to the woman they are singing about. In this version of
Creep, this causes the listener to view the song to believe that a heterosexual male singing about his
girl of his dreams instead of the homosexual female singing about her girl of her dreams like the
Bradlee s version of Creep suggests. Another big difference between the two songs is the
instrumentals they have in them. In the Bradlee s version of Creep, the main instruments in it are a
piano, a cello, a trombone and a saxaphone. This is part of a common line up of Jazz as stated by an
article title Zydeco . It states, The most important and traditional instrument used in performing

electric bass, saxophone, drums, and rubboard (washboard) (Zydeco) From knowing that this is a line

that taxpayer s money is being wasted on these families. People do not like the idea of paying for

Pros of using violent imagery and language
It brings out the real meaning of the message he intends to pass across to the employees of Nokia
company. For example, when he says that the platform is burning while referring to Nokia, this simply
notifies the employees that unless they take the necessary actions to prevent Nokia from collapsing,
the company may not stand. There are many mistakes committed in the company which must be
arrested to prevent further damage.
The violent imagery awakens everyone to think outside the box immediately.
Cons of using violent imagery and language
The violent imagery may cause panic among the workers. Some of the employees can give up on the
company since it is already burning. The resulting demotivation can lead to further detrimental effects
than intended corrective steps.
Personally, I feel motivated when violent imagery and language is used in the memo. This approach is
unlikely to backfire because the facts are speaking loudly. First, the once leading Nokia company has

Epistemological Journeys In The Truman Show
In June 1998, a movie was released that challenged audiences around the world to re examine the
world around them. The brainchild of scriptwriter Andrew Niccol and director Peter Weir, The Truman
Show, starring Jim Carrey, details the life and times of one Truman Burbank. Truman is the star of The
Truman Show, the most popular reality TV show of all time. The town that he lives in is a set. His
friends and family, actors. Everything that happens to him is scripted. Every single moment of his
humdrum existence is broadcast live to the world. The twist? Truman has no idea that this is all
happening. Truman believes that he is just another normal insurance broker living in a quaint little
island town, working hard to make a living. Born and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They challenge concepts that most people would assume as innate and intuitive, namely the validity of
the empirical world that surrounds them. Descartes begins his Meditations of First Philosophy with his
deconstruction, a process in which he uses ultimate skepticism to demolish all of his preconceived
notions about reality hoping to then construct a new, unbiased epistemological system atop an
underlying fundamental axiom. In his deconstruction, he realizes that all [he] has ... accepted [with] ...
the highest truth and certainty, [he] received from ... the senses. This worries Descartes, as realizes that
he might be a madman whose mind tricks him into having vivid, but ultimately imaginary
experiences. Descartes comes to the conclusion that senses [are] mislead[ing], and thus, he rejects that
the world around him is inherently true. Truman arrives at a similar conclusion after undergoing his
own deconstruction. Throughout Truman s life, activists and fame seekers alike had infiltrated Truman
s world and tried to notify him of the nature of his existence. Even though Truman was quickly
escorted away from these outsiders and reassured that they were insane, Truman nevertheless began to
develop a subconscious paranoia that something was wrong with his world. After a few particularly
sloppy slip ups from the showrunners, such as allowing Truman to get a glimpse of his dead father, or
accidentally transmitting a backstage frequency over Truman s radio, Truman starts to act on his
paranoia. He begins to act like a madman, thinking that the world somehow revolves around [him] and
that everyone [around him] is in on it. Just like Descartes, Truman realizes that the world around him
cannot be trusted, and with no more preconceived notions about reality, Truman also begins to seek

The Pros and Cons of Prenatal Screening Essay
Child is a gift from God. Every parent hopes for a healthy child. However, abnormalities in the fetus
growth becoming common nowadays. These may be due to physical, radiation and chemical factors.
These factors will cause deformities such as genetic mutation which causes mental retardation,
abnormal body buildup and other conditions which bring a lot of troubles in the future to the child
themselves and their parents. Modern technologies and innovations in the medical field had developed
a method to detect the abnormality before delivery and prevent this future tragedy to happen. This
method is known as prenatal screening. There are several advantages and disadvantages of prenatal
screening.
Prenatal screening is a test to detect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When parents know the fetus is special , they may be chosen to terminate the pregnancy. Thus, in
general prenatal screening helps to detect congenital disabilities but is also thought to be the remedy
selective abortion (Seller, 1976).
One of the benefits of prenatal screening is to enable early detection of the developmental defect
embryology. This embryology developmental defect may be due to the mutation or genetic
inheritance. Mutation is a condition characterized by permanent change in the DNA sequence that
makes up a gene. It can range in different sizes from a single DNA building block (DNA base) to a
large segment of a chromosome. On the other hand, genetic inheritance is a condition whereby parents
pass traits such as height and other characteristics to the children by chromosomes. Sonograms,
genetic tests and a new test called pre implantation genetic diagnosis which is a genetic test conducted
on embryos for people attempting pregnancy through in vitro fertilization allow women to better
predict if the infant will have a genetic defect (New York Times Magazine, 2006). Thus thorough
these tests, medical practitioners are able to identify and make early preparation toward any
abnormalities of the fetus.
Besides that, prenatal screening also improves lives. This is because prenatal screening is able to
prevent abnormalities which bring difficulties in human life. At this time, no regulations ... prenatal

The Beauty of Adam and Eve
In a world bombarded with technology and constant distractions, society often forgets the importance
and beauty of art. A branch of art, literature, lends a tremendous impact upon society. Marjorie
Pickthall constructs an elegant poem, Adam and Eve, while reinterpreting the well known Biblical
story, Adam and Eve. Similar to Pickthall, a renaissance artist, Masaccio, however, interprets the
Biblical story of Adam and Eve with a different interpretation. In his painting, the expulsion of Eden,
he focuses on Adam and Eve s reaction while leaving the Garden of Eden. Although Pickthal and
Masaccio have different prescripts of the story of Adam and Eve, both adopt the same plot. While
arriving in the perfect garden of Eden, Eve is suddenly attracted to the forbidden fruit. Beguiled by the
serpent , Eve eats the fruit, passing it on to her husband, and is then banished, along with Adam, from
the Garden of Eden. Because Pickthall uses artistic license and a rhyme scheme, she constructs a
poem, indirectly relating to Masaccio s painting, the expulsion of Eden, and directly relating to the
bible.
Due to Pickthall s usage of artistic license in her poem,a new meaning arises in relation to the Bible.
The major instance of artistic license in Adam and Eve, the location in which the whole story takes
place in, The Garden of Eden, changes to Beauty . The first stanza describes, gracefully, Eve s first
interaction with the tree of knowledge, In the clear silence Beauty found them

The Movie Autism
Maureen walked into his head when she looked at his Disney drawing. She was able to know how he
was feeling when he drew his pictures. She caused him to step out of his world and to interact with
others in the class. Once again Disney helped him again with another social hurdle. Owen began
talking to a girl, which is something that he was incapable of controlling his senses. This was a bridge
that was beginning to build with art from Owen s world to the outside world (Suskind, 2015). This is
when he let his families know that he wanted to go to college and he started at Riverview that is a
college life experience. This is also where he was able to meet his girlfriend and is able to
communicate with her by the use of Disney and the help of his older brother.
For many Autist people love is a very hard concept to understand it is not concrete and it is hard to
describe. In the movie Autism in Love it showed the difficulty of letting walls down and trying not to
get hurt or taken advantage of. However, for Owen Disney continues to be his guide he uses the
emotions and directions that he gets from watching these movies. He uses them to let his girlfriend
know that he loves her and that he will spend every day remembering what a treasure she is. He
understands love and understands the important connection to the other person.
The book is of course not finished because Owen is still growing and learning and changing.
However, this book is not just able to the struggles that

The Trial And Magic And Superstition By Michael D. Bailey
Trial Procedures: Questioning When analyzing all of the information provided in the two books,
Witchcraft in Europe by Alan Charles Kors and Edward Peters and Magic and Superstition in Europe
by Michael D. Bailey, there are a multitude of common themes that appear repeatedly in both pieces
of work on the topic of witchcraft. These common themes vary in topic with some relating to the
stereotypical appearance of witches, the actions witches performed, or even the legal procedures
involving the conviction of witches. These themes do not only show themselves in those two pieces of
work, but also in The Trial of Tempel Anneke by Peter A. Morton. While common themes can be seen
in reference to Tempel Anneke s trial, there are also many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea of torture being an important and commonly used way to question accused witches is also
supported by source thirty four in Witchcraft in Europe, which is The Malleus Maleficarum written by
Heinrich Kramer and Jacob Sprenger in 1487. The Malleus Maleficarum is a handbook filled with
many different sections covering a variety of witch beliefs, and its ninth action covers the method of
sentencing that is to be used on the accused witch during questioning (Kors, 211). And while she is
being questioned about each several point, let her be often and frequently exposed to torture... (Kors,
213). This source was the first encyclopedia covering witch beliefs that was available during the
fifteenth century and was used quite often because of the beliefs it contained, which were held by
Catholics and Protestants alike (Kors, 180). With The Malleus Maleficarum being cited often during
that time, it is easy to assess that the wide use and acceptance of this handbook points to a time when
the torture of accused witches was virtually accepted and pretty much commonplace practice.
The common use of torture during trials associated with witchcraft is also supported by a couple

Banquet Scene In Macbeth
It was also a very risky but appropriate play to show Taiwan audiences at the time as it made political
comments on Taiwan s recent history as a political leader called Chiang Kai shek s tried to take over
Taiwan, the parallels are quite evident. Chiang Kai shek was a military and political leader who joined
the Chinese Nationalists Party in 1918, known as KMT. The people of Taiwan were under control of
the KMT military forces and Chiang was the cause of hundreds of bloody and violent deaths. In order
for Chiang, not unlike Macbeth, he wanted to keep control of his totalitarian regime so there was a
massacre, riots and a famine, they ruled for over 40 years. KMT were still at war with the mainland
communists so they enacted the Mobilization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The scene was set with fog with blue and purple tones with her weary high pitched voice coming from
the unknown at first, ultimately holds our attention in suspense. It was visually haunting as she looked
like a corpse in rags. Another thing I noticed in the banquet scene a female performer comes in to
entertain Macbeth and does a dance with a mask. Throughout the dance she is holding two other
masks and alternately covers her face with them as she swirls, bends and crosses the stage. The masks
change with such fluidity you would hardly notice, even the type of masks and the character they
express; happy, fearful and angry. For me she was almost telling Macbeths prophecy. All of the
elements of this production made it a continuous seamless, ever growing, rhythmic sweep , especially
the final scene when Au Shu is up on his perch telling his soldiers they cannot lose as the prophet told
him so, unless the forest moves. It was then that his own soldiers fire arrows at him creating a slow
death with Au Shu doing a back flip from a raised level to stage level in full view. It was incredible
and symbolized his fall from grace. His own soldiers took Macbeths head and brought it to the rebel
army to save themselves as they could see Macbeth had gone mad. It was certainly a tragedy, from
start to finish the psychological and emotional values were apparent. Even though the play was in
Taiwanese and the subtitles were simple English the two different styles blended together so nicely
that the relationship, goals, the guilt and fear then the demise of the Macbeths was created with such

The Roles Of The Elizabethan Period
The Elizabethan period, named after the greatest Queen of England Queen Elizabeth I who ruled
England during that time, is considered to be the most splendid age of the history of English
Literature, the golden age of English history and one of the greatest periods of world history. It was a
time of many changes and developments and remarkable feats were achieved during this time. But
how different is it exactly from the present? At the same manner, how is it akin to the present?
Monarchy, a political system based upon the undivided sovereignty or rule of a single person, were a
dominant form of government during the Elizabethan Period, not only in England, but in the
surrounding countries as well. The monarch of England during the Elizabethan ... Show more content

The role of both men and women at that time were hardly any different than it was before. The
Elizabethan women from wealthy and noble families were sometimes allowed the privilege of an
Education but the Elizabethan women who were commoners would attend school not receive any
formal type of education. Their education would be for the preparation of the only real career option
for a girl that was considered at that time marriage. Being married was immensely desirable by all
women of the lower classes. Living their life in a convent or nunnery was no longer an option to
remain single as a result of the dissolution of the monasteries. Therefore, the only alternative to
marriage for Elizabethan women of the lower classes was domestic service. Those women who did not
marry or haven t married were thought about by their neighbors as witches and were subject to
suspicion. Due to this, all Elizabethan women would be expected to marry, wives were regarded as
property of their husbands and the women were expected to get married and be dependent on the male
population all their life. Though the role of women in the present is still not equal as that of men, the
role of women has immensely changed over the generations. Much restrictions were either removed or
loosened. Nowadays, women can receive formal education and go to exclusive schools, marrying is
not the only career option for them as they can now work professional jobs and do much of what they
weren t allowed to do in the

Blindness In Oedipus The King Essay
Even those who acquire the physical ability to see may be blind to truth and the comprehension of it.
Although humans have a large capacity for knowledge, even the smartest individual is prone to error
and may be ultimately sightless to the obvious solution due to what they chose not to see. This theme
of constant and initial blindness becomes recurring in Sophocles Oedipus the King. This recurring
theme seems to play an important role in the development of the events and characters in Oedipus the
King. The tragic hero Oedipus, for example, is the quintessential example of a character who
experiences continual blindness. This continual blindness contributes to the dire fate of Oedipus when
at the conclusion of the play he finally realizes that he had actually been blind to the truth for many
years. Jocasta, Oedipus mother and wife, is another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the plague in Thebes is revealed to Oedipus in the beginning of the play, he immediately tries to
solve the murder mystery by sending for the blind prophet Teiresias. Oedipus refuses to believe
Teiresias accusation that his dreadful prophecy is true and he is in fact the murderer. Oedipus constant
mocking of Teiresias in this scene leads him to stating the harsh reality that You (Oedipus) have your
eyes but see not where you are in sin, nor where you live, nor whom you live with. (Teiresias, lines
465 468.) As the play progresses, it is revealed that Teiresias accusation about Oedipus prophecy is
indeed correct. The irony that is held in this particular scene involving Oedipus and Tiresias becomes
a significant element in the theme of blindness throughout the play. Although Teiresias is physically
blind, he can accurately see the horror of Oedipus past, present and future. On the contrary, Oedipus
can physically see clearly but is absolutely blind towards his inevitable fate that the gods placed upon

Basically, Johnny Appleseed and Jonathan Chapman are the same people, but the legend exaggerates his character traits, and the historical accounts state the facts about him. Summer and winter he wore only a burlap sack cut with armholes and a cooking pot as a hat... He slept outdoors and ate only meals of bread and milk so as not to harm any creature in the pursuit of food. Even those nights when a frontier family took him in, he refused a bed in favor of the floor and requested only porridge to eat. He carried no weapons and he wore no shoes. Single Sex Classrooms Helps Increase Self Esteem Single Sex Education is considered to be a teaching system that has been implemented in schools all over world, from long ago and little still today. That means that girls and boys are instructed in separate schools or classrooms. How does single sex education benefits students? That is the question that some parents make themselves when their sons enter school. • 5. Evaluation Of A Business Will Greatly Influence The Course... Week 4 Reflection: Introduction to Segmentation The strategy or objectives of a business will greatly influence the course of action they will take. The most effective and efficient way to segment a market can depend greatly on the type of product or service and, ultimately, their goals for a strategy. I find it interesting to know that companies will consider factors such as psychographic and behavioural methods in particular because they are not things I automatically assume are important to a business. Demographic, benefits and geographic factors appear much more important to me but on further study i realised that businesses will use a combination of a the methods to be more effective. Companies such as Black Milk, who earn most of their profits online consider demographic, behavioural and psychographic much more than geographic methods as the internet offers them a channel for greater customer scope than if they were to target particular locations. Companies will also evaluate the attractiveness of a market to determine whether they should pursue it. The criteria for this evaluation seems appeal to the universal objectives of businesses so in that sense, it extremely effective. The identifiably of a customer is important so that companies are able to strategies effectively. The segment must also be substantial enough for business to be conducted profitably, which can happen in different scales. For example, my two jobs which both involve fast food services appear to ... • 6. Incorporation Of Emotions And The Workplace Incorporation of Emotions in the Workplace It is a general understanding that emotions and the workplace do not go along. Nonetheless, emotions are an imminent part of who we are as humans, and emotions are present in influencing our everyday activities and decisions. This makes it highly unlikely and utopic to believe that emotions will not be part of our workplace. The true issue is how to cope with it and how much is in fact too much. Anne Kreamer is a former high executive at Nickelodeon who wrote a book that deals with these issues and concerns, and she wisely addresses them by first defining concepts, and then giving alternatives as to what to do and how to deal with them. She successfully has achieved through her book to reach out to the entire population, and deal with a taboo issue straightforward without affecting sensibilities, and instead opening the minds of millions who have had the opportunity to read her book titled It s always personal: Navigating Emotion in the New Workplace. She manages to incorporate real life experiences and concerns, as well as biological and scientifically proven facts about emotion, followed by tools and exercises that help people cope with everyday feelings and emotions at the workplace, and even more important, she developed four character descriptions, none of which are mutually exclusive and instead overlap, but all equally important assets to any company. Not only did Ellis use specific dates when talking about deaths, but elections as well. One important election mentioned was the election of 1800 where John Adams, Aaron Burr, and Thomas Jefferson all ran, but John Adams s won the Presidency. Also, Ellis included other important facts that the average person may or may not know. This could be an event like The Duel or even the strong friendship between John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. One thing Ellis really took into consideration was The Farewell Address written by George Washington. Ellis mentioned that Washington published it in a newspaper rather than just share it with his fellow friends. Washington had wanted to reach all white men of the United States and not just the people in the senate. Lastly, Ellis included a lot of evidence throughout his writing. The Farewell Address is in fact hard evidence of what truly happened as well as the letters exchanged between Adams and Jefferson. • 8. The Bloody Chamber As a feminist, it is almost to be expected that many of Angela Carter s happy ever after endings will strike the reader with a bold feminist message. However, in The Bloody Chamber, this is not necessarily the case. Although there are several feminist messages in the stories resolutions, these messages are not always presented in the way one would expect, and not every female protagonist is presented as a feminist character. By taking the roles of typically Gothic women and toying with the presentation of female characters, many of Carter s feminist messages are not as one would expect. The eponymous story The Bloody Chamber ends with a sense of resolution, love and happiness. The antagonist of the story is no more, and the narrator is able to live a happy and fulfilling life with Jean Yves. Whether the ending is truly feminist, however, is open to discussion. In one respect, the actual resolution to the story is all down to the narrator s mother, who is presented at the story s climax as an incredibly powerful female figure. Carter uses masculine and bestial imagery to describe the mother, in a way that is not dissimilar to earlier imagery to describe the Marquis. The narrator refers to her mother s hair as her white mane ; just as earlier she had referenced the Marquis s dark mane . The juxtaposition between light and dark here is a typical example of Gothic extremes; while the Marquis seems to represent darkness the supernatural and evil the mother is ... Additionally, the cell phone group rated themselves worse in driving performance before and after the simulator. This indicates that driver performance is impaired by cell phone use and drivers generally know their driving is worse when using hands free devices, therefore, the use of such devices should be illegal. Other evidence against hands free cell phone use while driving is simply that talking on hands free devices is just as bad as talking on handheld devices in relation to driver performance (Ishigami Klein, 2009). To determine this, Ishigami and Klein (2009) reviewed the results of several separate studies that investigated the impacts of handheld and hands free cell phone usage on the detection reaction times of drivers. Conclusion We think we ve safely dismissed the notion that classic vehicles are not mechanically reliable as they tend to be driven less than modern vehicles, while having just as much or more care applied to them by diligent owners. Additionally, we concluded that the classic vehicles were held to the safety standards that were in place at the time of their manufacture, so by and large, are safe. The History Of Sexuality, Volume 1, By Michel Foucault In Part V of The History of Sexuality, Volume 1, Michel Foucault documents the historical shift from a sovereign power concentrated in death to a normalized, institutionalized regulation of life focused in part on the control of sexuality. He argues that this movement marks not only a reconceptualization of the living subject as a valuable source of both labor and production but also a new political interest in sex as a site of surveillance, classification, and management. Individuals in the contemporary social order define themselves and are defined through their relation to sex and sexuality, so while sex might feel taboo and thus appear to subvert social control, it in fact operates within a hegemonic system of meaning and thus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sex, then, represents a significant locus of power because: It fitted in both categories at once, giving rise to infinitesimal surveillances, permanent controls, extremely meticulous orderings of space, indeterminate medical or psychological examinations, to an entire micro power concerned with the body. But it gave rise as well to comprehensive measures, statistical assessments, and interventions aimed at the entire social body or at groups taken as a whole. Sex was a means of access both to the life of the body and the life of the species. (146) The movement from a symbolic of blood to an analytics of sexuality (148) from a power concentrated in death to one concentrated in life resulted in an increased concern with naming and documenting individual presentations of sexuality, in part because sex provided, and continues to provide, a way to access both the life of an individual and the life of a population. In contemporary society, power operates not only through the surveillance and categorization of sexualities, but also through a valorization of the act of sex as a key component to identity formation. Though Western culture often conceives of sex as natural, and thus divorced from the politics of power, Foucault argues that sex is the most speculative, most ideal, and most internal element in a deployment of sexuality organized by power (155). Pluralism is the view that there are many kinds or categories. (Robinson) In a gist, pluralism argues that, fundamentally, there is a single reality but it may present a different aspect of that reality. Before evaluating whether there is an existing relationship between the brain and the mind, there should be an explanation of what the mind is. One answer to the concept of the mind is that it causes a conscious experience and that it is a program or, wholly a system that monitors behavior. To break it down more simply, the mind can be defined as consciousness. Consciousness can, most obviously, be defined as the awareness of the things happening around us as well as the awareness that we exist. If we come to an assumption that the mind is a conscious happening, does mind control brain or is mind the result of what the brain is processing? Studies of the cognitive mind have gone so far as to argue that consciousness may arise from cellular or sub cellular level of organization rather than, what is scientifically assumed, nerve circuitry. After all, doesn t skating encourage you to revolt against the status quo, embrace your weirdness, and wear what you want? Yes, of course it does, but all of that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of course, owing to the high demands of skating, skaters tend to go through shoes at a rapid pace anyway, but the most hardcore of skaters would find themselves replacing their skate shoes on an almost daily basis were it not for the triple stitch. Cupsoles Or Vulcanized? Despite the fact millions of people believe they can determine one, there is no clear winner between cupsole or vulcanized skate shoes. In the end, it comes down to which shoe is better for you, which is determined by the kind of skating you want to do. Cupsoles are the heavier, padded shoe of the two and generally provide greater shock absorption and comfort. Owing to their ability to protect the foot and ankle, cupsoles are generally recommended to skaters who plan to jump from high distances or perform a lot of aerials while on the board. Cupsoles tend to last a little longer than their vulcanized counterparts. While vulcanized skate shoes don t offer the padding of cupsoles, they do make it possible to achieve greater control of your board, meaning they are perfect for tricks like grinds and slides. Thinner and more flexible, they are most suited to those who plan to wear their skate shoes both in and out of the park. For those who are interested, a video comparison of a cupsole skate shoe and its vulcanized alternative can be found below. https://youtu.be/XUsMWLak2PE Skate

Imperialism And Militarism It may be difficult to lay the blame of an entire world war on a singular country, but many historians agree that Austria Hungary and Germany carry the weight of the blame of for the occurrence of World War I. The historians Professor John Rohl (University of Sussex), Dr. Annika Mombauer (The Open University), and Professor Gary Sheffield (University of Wolverhampton) all agree that Germany s support of Austria Hungary with the blank cheque when they declared war on Serbia forced the hand of other countries to join. Imperialism and militarism played a large role in the eagerness for Germany and Austria Hungary to begin a war. Militarism was a large in factor in why both Germany and Austria Hungary were more than willing to declare war on Serbia. Both countries had knowledge that it would most certainly escalate into a European war at the very least, given Russia s interest in preventing the expansion of the Austria Hungary empire further into the Balkans. This does not mean the United States is not currently involved in situations that are similar. During the Cold War the U.S was involved in political hostility with a major state, the Soviet Union. The proxy wars involved direct military actions by one side while the other side funded the enemy. We can see an example of this type of conflict in the Vietnam War. These conflicts also involved a much larger footprint than we currently see in examples today. The Cold War utilized different states that had similar political mindsets, usually communism or democracy. Communist backed political parties continually sided with other communist states. A branch of art, literature, lends a tremendous impact upon society. Marjorie Pickthall constructs an elegant poem, Adam and Eve, while reinterpreting the well known Biblical story, Adam and Eve. Similar to Pickthall, a renaissance artist, Masaccio, however, interprets the Biblical story of Adam and Eve with a different interpretation. In his painting, the expulsion of Eden, he focuses on Adam and Eve s reaction while leaving the Garden of Eden. Although Pickthal and Masaccio have different prescripts of the story of Adam and Eve, both adopt the same plot. Beguiled by the serpent , Eve eats the fruit, passing it on to her husband, and is then banished, along with Adam, from the Garden of Eden. Because Pickthall uses artistic license and a rhyme scheme, she constructs a poem, indirectly relating to Masaccio s painting, the expulsion of Eden, and directly relating to the bible. Due to Pickthall s usage of artistic license in her poem,a new meaning arises in relation to the Bible. The major instance of artistic license in Adam and Eve, the location in which the whole story takes place in, The Garden of Eden, changes to Beauty . The first stanza describes, gracefully, Eve s first interaction with the tree of knowledge, In the clear silence Beauty found them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Movie Autism Maureen walked into his head when she looked at his Disney drawing. She was able to know how he was feeling when he drew his pictures. She caused him to step out of his world and to interact with others in the class. Once again Disney helped him again with another social hurdle. Owen began talking to a girl, which is something that he was incapable of controlling his senses. This was a bridge that was beginning to build with art from Owen s world to the outside world (Suskind, 2015). This is when he let his families know that he wanted to go to college and he started at Riverview that is a college life experience. This is also where he was able to meet his girlfriend and is able to communicate with her by the use of Disney and the help of his older brother. For many Autist people love is a very hard concept to understand it is not concrete and it is hard to describe. In the movie Autism in Love it showed the difficulty of letting walls down and trying not to get hurt or taken advantage of. However, for Owen Disney continues to be his guide he uses the emotions and directions that he gets from watching these movies. He uses them to let his girlfriend know that he loves her and that he will spend every day remembering what a treasure she is. He understands love and understands the important connection to the other person. The book is of course not finished because Owen is still growing and learning and changing. However, this book is not just able to the struggles that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Trial And Magic And Superstition By Michael D. Bailey Trial Procedures: Questioning When analyzing all of the information provided in the two books, Witchcraft in Europe by Alan Charles Kors and Edward Peters and Magic and Superstition in Europe by Michael D. Bailey, there are a multitude of common themes that appear repeatedly in both pieces of work on the topic of witchcraft. These common themes vary in topic with some relating to the stereotypical appearance of witches, the actions witches performed, or even the legal procedures involving the conviction of witches. These themes do not only show themselves in those two pieces of work, but also in The Trial of Tempel Anneke by Peter A. Morton. While common themes can be seen in reference to Tempel Anneke s trial, there are also many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The idea of torture being an important and commonly used way to question accused witches is also supported by source thirty four in Witchcraft in Europe, which is The Malleus Maleficarum written by Heinrich Kramer and Jacob Sprenger in 1487. The Malleus Maleficarum is a handbook filled with many different sections covering a variety of witch beliefs, and its ninth action covers the method of sentencing that is to be used on the accused witch during questioning (Kors, 211). And while she is being questioned about each several point, let her be often and frequently exposed to torture... (Kors, 213). This source was the first encyclopedia covering witch beliefs that was available during the fifteenth century and was used quite often because of the beliefs it contained, which were held by Catholics and Protestants alike (Kors, 180). With The Malleus Maleficarum being cited often during that time, it is easy to assess that the wide use and acceptance of this handbook points to a time when the torture of accused witches was virtually accepted and pretty much commonplace practice. The common use of torture during trials associated with witchcraft is also supported by a couple ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Banquet Scene In Macbeth It was also a very risky but appropriate play to show Taiwan audiences at the time as it made political comments on Taiwan s recent history as a political leader called Chiang Kai shek s tried to take over Taiwan, the parallels are quite evident. Chiang Kai shek was a military and political leader who joined the Chinese Nationalists Party in 1918, known as KMT. The people of Taiwan were under control of the KMT military forces and Chiang was the cause of hundreds of bloody and violent deaths. In order for Chiang, not unlike Macbeth, he wanted to keep control of his totalitarian regime so there was a massacre, riots and a famine, they ruled for over 40 years. KMT were still at war with the mainland communists so they enacted the Mobilization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The scene was set with fog with blue and purple tones with her weary high pitched voice coming from the unknown at first, ultimately holds our attention in suspense. It was visually haunting as she looked like a corpse in rags. Another thing I noticed in the banquet scene a female performer comes in to entertain Macbeth and does a dance with a mask. Throughout the dance she is holding two other masks and alternately covers her face with them as she swirls, bends and crosses the stage. The masks change with such fluidity you would hardly notice, even the type of masks and the character they express; happy, fearful and angry. For me she was almost telling Macbeths prophecy. All of the elements of this production made it a continuous seamless, ever growing, rhythmic sweep , especially the final scene when Au Shu is up on his perch telling his soldiers they cannot lose as the prophet told him so, unless the forest moves. It was then that his own soldiers fire arrows at him creating a slow death with Au Shu doing a back flip from a raised level to stage level in full view. It was incredible and symbolized his fall from grace. His own soldiers took Macbeths head and brought it to the rebel army to save themselves as they could see Macbeth had gone mad. It was certainly a tragedy, from start to finish the psychological and emotional values were apparent. Even though the play was in Taiwanese and the subtitles were simple English the two different styles blended together so nicely that the relationship, goals, the guilt and fear then the demise of the Macbeths was created with such an ... • 46. The Roles Of The Elizabethan Period The Elizabethan period, named after the greatest Queen of England Queen Elizabeth I who ruled England during that time, is considered to be the most splendid age of the history of English Literature, the golden age of English history and one of the greatest periods of world history. It was a time of many changes and developments and remarkable feats were achieved during this time. But how different is it exactly from the present? At the same manner, how is it akin to the present? Monarchy, a political system based upon the undivided sovereignty or rule of a single person, were a dominant form of government during the Elizabethan Period, not only in England, but in the surrounding countries as well. The Elizabethan women from wealthy and noble families were sometimes allowed the privilege of an Education but the Elizabethan women who were commoners would attend school not receive any formal type of education. Their education would be for the preparation of the only real career option for a girl that was considered at that time marriage. Being married was immensely desirable by all women of the lower classes. Living their life in a convent or nunnery was no longer an option to remain single as a result of the dissolution of the monasteries. Therefore, the only alternative to marriage for Elizabethan women of the lower classes was domestic service. Those women who did not marry or haven t married were thought about by their neighbors as witches and were subject to suspicion. Due to this, all Elizabethan women would be expected to marry, wives were regarded as property of their husbands and the women were expected to get married and be dependent on the male population all their life. Though the role of women in the present is still not equal as that of men, the role of women has immensely changed over the generations. Much restrictions were either removed or loosened. Nowadays, women can receive formal education and go to exclusive schools, marrying is not the only career option for them as they can now work professional jobs and do much of what they weren t allowed to do in the ... • 47. Blindness In Oedipus The King Essay Even those who acquire the physical ability to see may be blind to truth and the comprehension of it. Although humans have a large capacity for knowledge, even the smartest individual is prone to error and may be ultimately sightless to the obvious solution due to what they chose not to see. This theme of constant and initial blindness becomes recurring in Sophocles Oedipus the King. This recurring theme seems to play an important role in the development of the events and characters in Oedipus the King. The tragic hero Oedipus, for example, is the quintessential example of a character who experiences continual blindness. This continual blindness contributes to the dire fate of Oedipus when at the conclusion of the play he finally realizes that he had actually been blind to the truth for many years. Jocasta, Oedipus mother and wife, is another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the plague in Thebes is revealed to Oedipus in the beginning of the play, he immediately tries to solve the murder mystery by sending for the blind prophet Teiresias. Oedipus refuses to believe Teiresias accusation that his dreadful prophecy is true and he is in fact the murderer. Oedipus constant mocking of Teiresias in this scene leads him to stating the harsh reality that You (Oedipus) have your eyes but see not where you are in sin, nor where you live, nor whom you live with. (Teiresias, lines 465 468.) As the play progresses, it is revealed that Teiresias accusation about Oedipus prophecy is indeed correct. The irony that is held in this particular scene involving Oedipus and Tiresias becomes a significant element in the theme of blindness throughout the play. Although Teiresias is physically blind, he can accurately see the horror of Oedipus past, present and future. On the contrary, Oedipus can physically see clearly but is absolutely blind towards his inevitable fate that the gods placed upon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
