Paul Tarsus Impact On People s Philosophical Ideas
Saul was born on 5 AD in Tarsus and died on 67 AD in Rome. He changed his name to Paul after he
was baptized to reflect on his new persona and to begin travelling and preaching. He was a prosecutor
that would punish people who were following Jesus and his new religion back then. Paul was changed
into a follower and became one of Jesus Apostle(13th) by having a vision from God which blinded
him(also known as the road to Damascus). He was then saved by the followers of God who also
helped him, and made him better. Paul changed religions to Christianity after he got a vision from
Jesus. This converted him into a follower of God and he started spreading the words of God instead of
patronizing the religion and the people. Paul taught the Gospel of Christ to the first century world. He
is one of the most important figures in the Apostolic Age. He ministered both Jews and Romans since
he was appreciated by both groups. He is also known as the 13th apostle.
Paul s strongest emphasis was on the death, resurrection, and lordship of Jesus Christ. He preached ...

Paul of Tarsus had many historical impacts on people s philosophical ideas. Some examples of these
historical impacts are; spreading Christianity into Europe, creating Christian communities amongst the
gentiles, and preaching the Gospel message primarily to the Romans of the Roman Empire while Peter
reached Jewish believers and brought them into the Christian church. Lastly, Paul established how
these communities should see themselves. Paul had impacts to the Christian people even before he
was baptized and converted. Due to the fact that he was the one who would prosecute the Christian
people and send them to their death; this lead to the Christian people spreading out hundreds of
kilometers in every direction spreading God s

Social Class Vs. Upper Class
Based on which social class an individual falls into, the parenting style that they display or experience
may vary. Are these differences in social classes affecting the way children in these households are
brought up? If so, are these parenting styles reinforcing social class division? It is inevitable that the
occupation, education, and income or wealth that an individual possesses will define their social class.
This paper claims that children of different socioeconomic classes go through different socialization
processes due to varying parenting styles that emerge in these distinct social classes. The parental
behaviors and the social interaction between the parent and the child is linked to the social class that
the family is a part ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the values that these parents live their lives by the same values are the ones they are passing on
to their children. When these children grow up they are likely to be expected to work in places much
like the ones their parents are working in and hopefully with the values instilled in them they will be
able to hold onto their jobs.
Parents in the lower and working social class tend to believe that they can never be too involved in
their children s education. (Pew) This provides an interesting contrast because based off of another
survey parents in this class are the least likely to read out loud to their children. This is likely a matter
of time management. Parents in this class are often working 2 or 3 jobs to make ends meet. These
children spend a majority of their childhood in the care of extended family, seeing as most of these
families live in poor neighborhoods and childcare is not readily available or affordable. But these
parents still feel that their kids should be doing well in school, education is an important part of being
able to get better jobs, and if the parents want their children to be able to socially move up in the
society than they will be more likely to want to be involved in their children s education. Based on a
survey conducted it was also found that parents of this social class

Non Profit Organization Analysis And Financial Evaluation
There are many indexes regarding non profit organization analysis, and financial evaluation focus on
below aspects.
Financial Management
The foundation maintained a total revenue of 64 million, and a total expense of 77 million, which
meant the foundation was a mid sized non profit organization.
Based on the given financial data, and the foundation s previous IRS 990 filings, the foundation ended
in negative for the year of 2012 as 8 million, but they recovered in 2013 with a black ending of 47
million, however they ended at 48 million which was still a negative result for the organization. This
alarming situation showed the deficient ability of the foundation to prepare its budget.
Data of 2014
(Form 990 PF 2014)
Data of 2013
(Form 990 PF 2013)
Data of 2012
(Form 990 PF 2012)
As shown in the Form 990 PF for the past 3 years, the foundation managed positive cash reserves as
its total liabilities and net assets/fund balances were positive. The foundation was in relatively good
financial position during the 3 years.
During the year of 2014, total net assets or fund balances reduced from 72 million to 17 million. A
lower fund balances means the organization is efficiently in employing its resources to the mission
related work. The data showed the foundation was probably more actively spending its cash on their
mission in 2014 than in 2013.

Earvin Magic Johnson
The Nineties seemed to be a fun era, you had the greatest athletes, like Michael Jordan, Charles
Barkley, Shaquille O Neal, Patrick Ewing, and Hakeem Olajuwon. That was just some of the stars
from the NBA. The NBA in the eighties had the most fun to watch athletes, which also had a young
Michael Jordan, but you had dominate players as well. Larry Bird from the Boston Celtics, Dominique
Wilkins from the Atlanta Hawks, and the toughest team in the league the Bad Boys, Detroit Pistons.
However, the main man of the era was Earvin Magic Johnson. He redefined the point guard spot and
changed the game forever. Point guards were mostly little guys around 6ft but Magic was standing at 6
9 ft. and was dominating the league. He took his team to five ... Show more content on

remember how horribly sad everybody was accept for Magic and it just seemed as though he was

lose him David Stern (1991). Magic after started to look for treatment and started to live healthy. He
was working out again and would occasionally try to play one on one with his old teammates but no
one wanted to get close to him or even talk to him. People started to treat him different but his old
coach, Pat Riley started to work him out again like the old days. That changed his mind set and later
returned to the NBA to play in the 1992 All star game which he won the all star MVP. But at the same
time some of the players did not feel comfortable playing with or against Magic Johnson. The fact of
the matter is, if you got the Aids virus, it would be hard for me to play as hard as I m capable of

Analysis Of Harrisburg University Of Science And...
Executive Summary Harrisburg University of Science and Technology located at 326 Market Street,
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania 17101 is a growing major educational hub which is attracting more students
and faculty per every passing year. As a result of which, there is a growing need to accommodate all
the vehicles and cars that the students and faculty uses to get to the University. The current location of
the university is right in the middle of Downtown Harrisburg and therefore the constraints on the
parking situation are pretty stringent. Harrisburg University, apart from regular day to day classes, also
holds executive classes for online students thereby keeping the number of attendees to the school
equally high even on the select weekends. As of January 11, 2016, the University had 400
undergraduate, 2600 graduate students and 150 full and part time faculty and staff. [1] The University
only has one (1) 16 story academic building and the Harrisburg Parking Authority operates a garage
within the same building. This garage, opened in 2005, is a 9 floor parking sandwiched in the 16 story
are hidden from the view so that the building has more of a presence in the Downtown area [2]. Apart
from this allotted parking, Street Parking may be available and is free on the Weekends and after 5:00
PM on Weekdays. This proposal is initiated as a result of the growing need for a more comprehensive
approach to plan the campus parking , both as it relates to current campus activity and

Similarities And Differences Between Confucianism And...
Sometimes, life provides us with a challenge of either conforming to two ideologies or forgoing one
and upholding the other. Being able to be both a Confucian and a Christian depends on how one
weighs the similarities and differences of either part. It is well acknowledged that both Confucianism
and Christianity are significant. Their teachings have aided to form the value systems of Eastern and
Western and cultures, which have navigated millions of people in behavior, spirit, mind, behavior, and
relationships. Going through their doctrines, we can discover something in common. Nevertheless, if
we take a direct look, we can see that the whole structures of their philosophies are completely
different. The composition is aimed at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Christ s teaching tells us to treat others as we would like to be served. There are also similarities in
their lessons about humanity; Christianity holds family sacred, reveres the past and respects order.
Hence, it embraces the truth and goodness of Confucius doctrines. Rishmawy states that he has
learned a different way of viewing Jesus teachings with the help of Confucius (D. Rishmawy 2015).
Before he read Confucius, he had a mentality that loving your enemy involves treating them precisely
as you would entertain your friends. After going through it, he understood that this was unwise in
some situations that required one to protect themselves from such kind of people. Consequently,
through such incidences of both ideologies complementing each other, one can be both a Confucian
and a Christian at the same time. Despite the similarities between the two, differences that may
prevent one from being both a Christian and a Confucian exist. According to Huang (2009),
differences between them are seen in their ways of thinking. One of the apparent striking differences
is in their beliefs. Christians have faith in a single God who created everything in the universe. God is
considered to be distinct from human beings. God is purely spiritual, unlike a human being who has a
physical and spiritual segment. Nevertheless, Confucians have no particular person as their god
(Doyle and Chang, 2014). Confucius never

The Formulation Of Public Policy
Sherri Torjman seems not to answer her own question, What is Policy as she skirts articulating any
concrete definition of policy as she attempts to explain what it is. She attempts to succinctly describe
policy, stating, At the end of the day, the formulation of public policy involves a process of making
good decisions for the public good (2005, p. 18) but this is a description of how policy is made and
fails to define policy. Levison and Sutton (2001) also define policy as a verb by equating policy as a
practice of power (p. 2). This definition implies that policymakers are powerful when in there have
been times in our history that marginalized groups of people acquired more power as a result of policy.
Groups such as the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered community (or communities, depending
on your perspective), could hardly be described as powerful yet they are moving public perception and
policy initiatives in new directions with rapidity politicians either envy or decry. Levison and Sutton
(2001) state that policy is a fluid and negotiated (Levison Sutton, 2001, p. 3) means to govern (p. 3)
diverse people and their values; it is a tug of war contrasting , values, desires, wants, and needs. Yet
this description of what policy is remains insufficient; policy is not just a means to govern. Means or
methods to govern implies lots of things besides or in addition to policy: with a big stick, by coalition
building, or as a compassionate

In the early 1800 s, many of the women in the United States were coming to realize that they wanted
to obtain more rights. The male gender had way more rights than women, and they had run more
things than women. Finally, women began to come forward to voice their opinions about how men
and women are made to be equal; no less, no more. It was now time for women to go out and pursue
whatever they wanted to pursue and not have to worry about the fact that they are females or that they
are weaker or have less education than a man. The Seneca Falls Convention would soon be one of the
biggest victories for women s rights. The Seneca Falls Convention of 1848 was the first women s

The Indians were forced to leave their homes and even families to move to the west, which is now
known as Oklahoma. The trail was not a specific road, trail, route, or river that was traveled. Instead,
the Indians traveled on different routes to get to their destination in Oklahoma. Some of the Indians
traveled upriver on steamboats, and some of the Indians even got into large caravans that carried
wagons full of their belongings and labor animals. A majority of the Indians traveled through Arkansas
to arrive in Oklahoma. Other Indian tribes and regular people would leave food, supplies and firewood
along the way to help the Indians on their treacherous journey to the west. Not only was the route a
long one, but the weather was very harsh. It was often freezing in the winter and very dry and boiling

Civil Liberties vs National Security

In U.S., the bill of rights protects civil liberties. People in the United States, hold civil rights, which
are those privileges, immunities and rights held by all Americans and political rights, which are the
rights that are restricted to those who are entitled to participate in elections, as candidates or voters.
The distinction is important since not all are eligible to vote though they all should enjoy their
freedoms. This may no longer be feasible as majority of the civil rights are taken to include the
political rghts in this age.

Why Is Jack D Ripper Important
Jack D. Ripper is important, because he is the person who gives the orders and the soldiers would not
know what to do without him. He is instructive, bossy, and he tells Mandrake what to do with very

Argumentative Essay On Muscle Cars
Muscle Cars with Shaker Hoods
The Classic Muscle Car with a Shaker Hood
Owning a muscle car with a shaker hood isn t for everybody. Even fans of aggressive looking hood
scoops would sometimes rather see them as part of the sheet metal hood structure as opposed to a
giant sized and oddly shaped air cleaner.
However, for those wanting to see their engine come to life, while sitting in the driver seat, this option
will continue to be a popular one. Here we ll discuss some of the All American muscle cars that made
this option available. We ll also discuss a few problems associated with an air scoop connected to a
moving engine, protruding like a periscope through a large hole cut in the hood.
Background on the Shaker Hood
Although you probably already know where the name comes from, let s quickly give this part a
definition and discuss its origins. In 1969 the [Ford Mustang design team] was looking for a unique
hood scoop to use on their aggressive V8 engines. Customers in the muscle car market liked the idea

Significance of Impressionism
In the 19th century, an art movement called Impressionism had prevailed in France that had hugely
impacted many aspects in the field of art. Not only it had changed the people s perspectives on art but
also it had transformed the status quos in the traditional principles. Its techniques were adopted and
inspired numerous artists to produce new art movements such as Neo Impressionism and Post
Impressionism. In all, Impressionism was a revolutionary departure from the traditions that had
profoundly changed the views on art by exploring ways to capture the fleeting moment. In fact, the
word, Impression came to be used in the name of the movement after Claude Monet s exhibition, a

continued rejection at the official Salon de Paris, which was the annual selection and reward of
artworks held by the juries of artists from the Académie. In order to prevent the enormous protest
among the group who were refused, exhibitions such as Salon des Refusés, which means, Salon of the

their modern, innovative style that was set apart from the established, traditional styles of art. With
their works appearing to be unfinished and simple, the group faced severe criticisms in the Salons

Moving To Springfield Analysis
Assuming that hundreds of former city dwellers do indeed move to Springfield every year, then it is
plausible that the author is correct in that these city dwellers do appreciate Springfield because it has a
rural setting an small town atmosphere . However, the author presents no proof concerning that this is
truly the rationale behind city dwellers move to Springfield. As such, their suggestion that aggressive
planning regulations should be implemented is hogwash because it is based upon a potentially untrue
premise. Additionally, the majority of residents in Springfield may not even want more newcomers to
move in, which further suggests that the author lacks sufficient data to make any sort of suggestion.
The main flaw in the author s argument is the failure to include any sort of evidence or proof
indicating the new Springfield residents reasons for moving to Springfield. The rationale indicated by
the author is plausible, but plenty of other reasons abound concerning why city dwellers would move
to the more rural Springfield. For instance, the cost of living could be cheaper in Springfield and the
new residents may actually think Springfield is a worse location to live in than the city. In addition,
Springfield may have more pristine schools, libraries, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

As previously stated, this is due to the fact that the majority of the world s problems are
interconnected with one another. A specific example of this interconnection can be seen quite easily
when examining two of the world s biggest problems: poverty and population stabilization.
Statistically, there is a correlation between high fertility rates and high poverty rates (Merrick). This
does not imply causation, but does tell us a relationship between the two is present. So what is the
interconnection? First of all, high poverty rates mean less education regarding family planning and
less access to birth control methods. Secondly, high poverty rates might also encourage families to
have more children that will eventually provide supplemental income or physical labor (Merrick). So
population growth cannot be stabilized without addressing problems of poverty and addressing
problems of poverty will mostly likely aid in population stabilization. Figure 1 and 2 in the Appendix
show a visual representation of the poorest countries and the countries with the highest fertility rates.

Analysis Of Ezra Pound s
Ezra Pound s (1885 1972) Homage to Sextus Propertius has stirred controversies after its first
publication in Harriet Monroe s Poetry magazine in March 1919. The poem is consisted of twelve
sections and it was based on Propertius, a great Latin elegiac poet who lived during the first century.
Pound s poem provides a new interpretation of Propertius that differs from his predecessors. Pound
finds a voice to critique the corrupted politics of his time. The poem, However, has enraged the
Classicists for they viewed it as an utter mistranslation of Propertius. Such differing views over the
poem have been, for quite long, the source of contention in the academic circles. This paper, therefore,
discusses the views of the Classicists and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The perception of the poem continued raveling to other classicists. L.P. Wilkinson, a Cambridge
classicist, harshly criticized the poem and he concluded that Homage to Sextus Propertius purged of
the perversities of Ezra Pound (viii). Similarly, Professor Gilbert Highet wrote in Horizon magazine
that Homage was an insult both to poetry and to scholarship, and to common sense (viii). Highet
accused Pound of bad taste and a disgusting misinterpretation of Propertius. Later, Robert Graves, a
classical translator, attacked Pound s inaccuracies in the poem. In the Times Literary Supplement, he
published a comical short play called Dr. Syntax and Mr. Pound mocking Pound s ignorance of Latin
and the radical distortion he made and his claim of producing a free verse translation of the poem. He
concluded that Pound has no respect for Propertius and that he should learn the moral principles in
translation, a reference to his article published in 1965. And finally, Robert Nicholas, a Gregorian
poet, who echoed Hale s review over Pound s mistranslation of Propertius. In Pound s essay, Date
Line, he identifies five different modes of literary criticism and one of them is criticism by translation
(Literary Essays 74). This type

Elizabeth Gaskell s Construction Of The Ideal Man
In Victorian Britain, monumental changes were occurring in regards to class structure and gender
ideals due to social and economic changes sparked by the Industrial Revolution. These changes caused
a new image of masculinity to emerge. The concept of masculinity came to embody a new ideal, self
made man, measured by advances based on personal success rather than birthright(M19). It was
expected that men were to exude manly toughness and independent spirit while providing the financial
support and leadership for the household(m19). Beyond these basic characteristics, Elizabeth Gaskell
s construction of the ideal man incorporates a fusion of gender traits as strengths of masculinity,
notably her emphasis on manly nurturance and tenderness as seen in her novel Mary Barton(wcm334).
While the evolving social structure of 19th century Britain was a cause for the increasing emphasis on
manliness, it was also the source of challenges faced by working class men as they struggled to
achieve and maintain this new sense of masculinity. By analyzing Gaskell s Mary Barton and
additional texts from the period, supplemented by contemporary analysis of the concept of
masculinity, this paper provides insight into the constructions of masculinity in working class men of
Victorian society and discusses the struggles workers faced as they strove to achieve manhood amidst
the changing social climate.
In order to understand the difficulty working class men encountered trying to maintain a

Freidrich Heincke s Paper
Introduction
A paper published in 1898 by the Freidrich Heincke, a German fisheries biologist, influenced
biologists to consider the population as the unit of study instead of the species. Insights from the
Heincke s paper helped to cultivate the influential quantitative methodology to distinguish marine fish
populations. The application of statistical methods and quantification techniques in marine biology
contributed to the generation of an enormous amount of knowledge related to fisheries. The shift of
fishery biologists, Zoologists and wildlife agencies towards numbers and measurement in their
research methodology, shaped modern Fisheries Science and contributed to solving some of the
critical problems associated with fisheries. In 1957, a model published by Beverton and Holt enabled
scientists to predict the future size and yields of fish stock. This quantitative bio economic model
allowed governments to make decisions on the most optimal fishing levels to help reach biological
and economic goals ( Bavington, D.L.Y. 2009).
Cod fishery management systems in Canada incorporated Heincken s population approach and bio
economic system models of the 1950 s to calculate the total allowable catch. An official report that
was the basis for Canada s Cod fisheries management strategy, tremendously overestimated northern
Cod populations. To correct this error in 1990, the Harris report recommended the reduction of Total
allowable Catch from 235, 000 to 190, 000 tonnes. In 1992,

differed from immigrants from Italy, and Russia. Their experiences differed, because of how they

America such as Chinese, Italian, and Russian immigrants. These immigrants came over from other
countries and they traveled on a ship. When the immigrants were on the ship they lived in the steerage,
which was below the deck of the ship. When the European immigrants arrived in America, half had to
be quarantined so they do not get others infected. While the other half were just trying to find jobs,

Sexual Revolution, By Beth Bailey

Bailey, Beth. Sex in the Heartland. Cambridge, Massachusetts, and London, England: Harvard
University Press, 1999.
In the book Sex in the Heartland, the author Beth Bailey provides the reader with a distinct, detailed,
and informative read of the impact in which the sexual revolution had on American culture during the
1960 s.This revolution took place in the town of Lawrence, Kansas, which Bailey refers to as the
heartland of America. As Bailey states in her introduction, Kansas is the quintessential heartland state
(4). The overall themes Bailey introduces are the dynamics of social change, as well as sexual change.
Bailey argues throughout the course of the book that there was in fact, a sexual revolution. Reflecting
of this change, Bailey writes, What were long term events resulted in gradual trends (2). These events
are what make up the sex revolution discussed throughout Bailey s book. The purpose of Sex in the
Heartland is to assess the ongoing change in cultural normalcies, and the impact the sexual revolution
had on university towns such as Lawrence. Bailey encourages readers to gain a deeper understanding
of what the revolution was in the eyes of the 1960 s American society.
Throughout the book, Bailey argues that in cities around the country in the 1960 s, the ordinary person
battled the constant struggle of both private and public sexual behaviors, which came to follow post
WWII in America. Throughout the text, Bailey

Metamorphosis Of Narcissus
The Metamorphosis of Narcissus marks the height of Salvador DalĂ s surrealism and the beginning of
his famous paranoiac critical technique, the painting elegantly illustrates a classic tale through an anti
art perspective. This painting is rich in symbolism and tells the story of Echo and Narcissus in a
unique way compared to previous artworks. The Metamorphosis of Narcissus is a small rectangular oil
painting spanning a size of 20.12 in × 30.75 in. Dalí uses chiaroscuro to his advantage by splitting the
painting between a dark dying Narcissus and a bright stone hand holding a bulb. The Metamorphosis
of Narcissus was the first painting on which DalĂ began to write his name as Gala Salvador DalĂ which

Due to the war, tensions were becoming more prominent and were leading up to a cultural scare.
Davidism began in the 1920 and surrealism derives from it; the textbook describes this movement as
being An artistic movement...that attacked all accepted standards of art and behavior and delighted in
outrageous conduct. Dadisms view of anti art began after the end of World War I when humanity
began to realize that they could exterminate whole nations therefore life was meaningless and art
should be too. Surrealism emerged as a form of dadaism and was impacted tremendously by Freudian
psychology about the id, ego, and superego; they painted epic worlds of wonderland like scenes and
images drawn on impossible landscapes. DalĂ s depiction of Narcissus in his painting was altered after
Freud termed Narcissism as, the displacement of an individual s libido towards that individual s own
body, towards the ego of the subject. In Spain, where DalĂ resided the Spanish Communist Party was
still fairly weak in the early 1930s and therefore no early surrealist movements were sparked until the
party grew in popularity. The Catholic church impacted the culture greatly and from a young age
children were taught under the Jesuits about both the paranoiac and the mystical. André Breton, the
founder of surrealism intended for the movement to be pure, but DalĂ quickly

Comparing Daoism And Confucianism

way like two parallel rivers in governance in aspects of life, in practice the two systems are often flow

humanity from its early state of innocence but realistically as a person or society lives and ages there
is no such thing as innocence as one must grow and learn. The sage practices nonaction, gives up
worldly ambitions, and lives a simple life in accord with nature though that one does. The dedication
to right relationships and a solid social order contrast directly with the inner direct intuition of Taoism.

The Most Dominant And Influential Empires
The Umayyads created the first true Muslim dynasty passing down power strictly within family
boundaries from generation to generation. During their reign lasting from 661 to 750 AD, they built
the early Islamic community up into one of the most dominant and influential empires in the world.
During this time, the Umayyads would create the basis of how the Islamic Empire would be operated
moving forward. They would soon become a dynasty in question because of their lack of descent from
Muhammad, their arguable passage of power from father to son, and their injustice and ill treatment of
non Arab Muslims. Their desecrating rulers overall had a negative impact on Islam and ultimately led
to their fall.

Ali then succeeded Uthman as the next caliph. Muawiya wanted the assassins responsible for Uthman
s death to be handed over, but Ali was unable to comply with his demands. This conflict led to the first

Muhammad s widow, and other prominent Muslims at the Battle of the Camel, but then later lost to
Muawiya at the Battle of Siffin in Syria. The civil war ended with no winner, but shortly after Ali was
assassinated by a kharijite in Kufa. Muawiya emerged as the leader after convincing Al Hasan, Ali s
son, to give up his right to the caliphate establishing himself as the first Umayyad caliph. He was
driven to create a strong, effective, and somewhat centralized government. He moved the capital from
Medina to Damascus and gave Christians, in many cases ex Byzantine officials government positions,
which led to some new financial and administrative systems that were unwelcomed by many.
Muawiya was the beginning of a long line of impious rulers who did not give in to what the people of
the province wanted, had his own personal agenda, and really only gave in to the religion of Islam
around the time they assumed a government position.
Muawiya broke the status quo by appointing his son Yazid his successor. This was a serious problem,

The Causes Of Racial Discrimination In The Rodney King
Los Angeles in the 1990s was plagued by oppression and conflict that thrived in racial divisions.
These divisions created a low level of inter racial acceptance, especially in the highly segregated areas
of LA. When Rodney King was brutally assaulted by white police officers, the trial became a symbol
of racial tensions throughout the city. Minority groups empathized with King, as they too had been
victims of society s neglect. On April 29, 1992, following the verdict of the jury: not guilty on all
counts, Los Angeles burst into violence. Originating at the intersection of Florence and Normandie,
enrage rioters blocked the roads and attacked drivers unable to flee. By the next day, fires were
widespread throughout the city, and there were many casualties and hundreds injured. Police forces
were far overwhelmed so many Koreans storeowners took up arms to defend their shops from looting
and destruction by predominately Blacks rioters. By the third day, the military brought the riots under
control, which had left a toll of 60 deaths, 2,000 people injured, and billions of dollars in property
damage, 40% of which was to Korean own. Although the violence between Koreans and Blacks was
sparked by the Rodney King trial, the strife was primarily fueled by preexisting racial tensions. The
media s nature of embellishment and tendency to stereotype promoted racial prejudices. Many Blacks
in 1990s Los Angeles saw the media as biased towards Whites, thus they lacked a media network that

Theme Of Expressionism In Bury The Dead
The characters, conflicts and physical settings in Bury the Dead are all carefully constructed to initiate
a specific emotional response. They are not created to be analyzed as being apart of reality. However,
expressionism is not a subset of complete fantasy, it is a distilled form of reality in which an artist or
author can focus specifically on an event, person or group of people and the subsequent inner reaction
he or she wants to make aware to the audience. Expressionism can be found throughout literature, art
and theater, therefore it is not difficult to exhibit similar reactions found in Bury the Dead in other
mediums or even settings. A new transposition of Shaw s work would ardently relate the stark themes
to a modern audience. The second facet of Shaw s play that stands out as essential is the use of
sardonic wit in his dialogue. Verbal quips can be described as sardonic if they are intended to criticize
or demean a person or group of people. For example, in Bury the Dead, the Doctor references the
apathy of the Generals during his examinations.
Shaw, primarily because the play is a form of propaganda, constructs the dialogue of every character
to carry the weight of his thesis of dichotomy. This realization connects the sardonic wit back to the
expressionistic characteristics. The characters and the setting are literary marionettes dancing to the
music of propaganda, holding no free intelligence unaligned to Shaw s themes. In a vast sea of
consumerism and

Mosaics in Early Byzantine Era
The increase in mosaics in churches in Late Antiquity and the Byzantine Era was largely due to the
influence of the Roman Emperor Constantine (ruled from 306 to 337 AD). During his rule as emperor,
Christianity became the major religion and there was a push for more buildings to house the followers
of Christ. Along with the new buildings there was a need to decorate these places of worship
accordingly and express the religion in a grandiose sort of way. Mosaics were generally the
inexpensive and impressive answer that was used to convey the church s message. Through mosaics,
the people of the church could learn and be informed of the spiritual and cultural symbolism (Kleiner
and Mamiya 313).

Examples Of Social Darwinism In The Jungle
In Sinclair s novel, the jungle, you get a closer look into the societal classes and the struggles that
immigrants face when they come to America. In this essay, I will be talking about all the things that
Jurgis as well as his family have overcome. Such as their downfalls as well as how they prospered and
managed to stay together through most of the novel. Social Darwinism helps you get a different
perspective of all the things going on in the societal classes.
When someone has no motivation they really have no want to succeed. Being an immigrant and
coming to the United States doesn t mean you re going to get rich at the instant. Even by working, you
won t get at the level of the upper class rich people. Dishonesty is shown a lot among immigrants.
Jurgis for example at the beginning of the novel had his family, his wife Ona, which made him the
happiest man alive. No matter how rough the situation was he wouldn t care because he had his wife.
Life put Jurgis through some pretty tough obstacles like the death of Ona and then shortly after the
death of his baby. The so called real estate agent offered them a deal on this supposed great house that
was cheap and exactly what they were looking for but little did Jurgis know that with that house came
many more little pricy things that the agent forgot to tell them. Since that point on every day living in
that house was hell. Everyone in that household worked and they barely made it through the month.

Brandix I4 Case Study
With the formation of Brandix i3 since 2012, the Brandix group had to face a drastic change in the

management is a process of transitioning individuals, groups of organizations to the expected future

considered that major change is never successful unless the complacency level is low. However,
change is a common thread that runs through all organizations regardless of size of the organization,
industry or history. The key part of managing change depends on how far the people within it
understand the process of change. Change is a constant feature of organizational life and the ability to

The Russian Mafia
The Russian Mafia, also known as Bratva (Brotherhood) is a collection of various organized crime
groups that originated during the former Soviet Union era. It is made up of underworld leadership in
which engages in providing illegal goods and services that range anywhere from drugs and weapons
smuggling to gambling and human trafficking. As in the U.S, there is no universally accepted
definition of organized crime in Russia. However, the Bratva shares many basic characteristics with
other well known criminal organizations such as the Italian Mafia. Therefore, the definition that has
been commonly used in the U.S will be fitting for the Bratva as well. The FBI defines organized crime
as, any group having some manner of a formalized structure and whose primary objective is to obtain
money through illegal activities (FBI). The Bratva falls under this definition with one of its many
groups, the Vory v Zakone , which translates to Thieves in law . They are bound by a code of honor in
which states that one is not to make a living on anything other than thievery, complete submission to
the laws of criminal life, including obligations to support the criminal ideal and refusal to participate
in all political activities (Omics).
Give a history of it s formation, growth, and key events (prosecutions etc.)
Criminal organizations existed long before the economic disaster and fall of the Soviet Union in the
1990 s which resulted in a break through for organized crime. During

Installing Convergent Encryption By Aes Encryption
CHAPTER5 PROPOSEDARCHITECTUREANDMETHODOLOGY 5.1Proposed Architecture Inthis
section, wedescribetheproposedarchitecture of deduplication system. In our proposed architecture we
replace some technique with new technique like we replaced convergent encryption by AES
encryption. We eliminate some steps that are not necessary to be there. That will help to reduce
execution time. Mainly we made three changes in our proposed architecture: 1. We use AES
encryption in place of convergent encryption. 2. We eliminate secret key encryption between server
and metadata manager. 3. We proposed to check duplication at starting stage. In old architecture
duplication checked when data converted in another form means after encryption. These three changes

So we eliminate one secret encryption layer that was present between server and metadata manager.
System takes so much time every time to check integrity and address of file because of that secret
encryption layer. So clearly this step will reduce execution time. And at last we check duplication at
starting stage. Now, there is no need to encrypt every data for integrity checking. This also eliminates
extra overload from system. 5.2 COMPONENTS: In this section we describe the role of each
component. A. User The role of the user is limited to uploading files to the system, encrypting them
with the AES encryption technique, signing the resulting encrypted files and creating the
storagerequest. In addition, the user also generates the key to AES system by his ID and PASSWORD.
It works as file identifier to the system. For each file, this key will be used to decrypt and re build the
file when it will be retrieved. Instead, thefile identifier is necessary to univocally identify a file
overthe whole system. Finally, the user also signs each files with a special signature scheme. In order
not to apply costly signatureoperations for the file, for all it adds owner name to a separate MM. The
main architecture is illustrated in Fig. 5.1. B. Server The server has three main roles: authenticating
users duringthe storage/retrieval request, performing access control byverifying block signatures
embedded in the data, encrypting/decrypting data traveling from users to the cloud

  • 2. Paul Tarsus Impact On People s Philosophical Ideas Saul was born on 5 AD in Tarsus and died on 67 AD in Rome. He changed his name to Paul after he was baptized to reflect on his new persona and to begin travelling and preaching. He was a prosecutor that would punish people who were following Jesus and his new religion back then. Paul was changed into a follower and became one of Jesus Apostle(13th) by having a vision from God which blinded him(also known as the road to Damascus). He was then saved by the followers of God who also helped him, and made him better. Paul changed religions to Christianity after he got a vision from Jesus. This converted him into a follower of God and he started spreading the words of God instead of patronizing the religion and the people. Paul taught the Gospel of Christ to the first century world. He is one of the most important figures in the Apostolic Age. He ministered both Jews and Romans since he was appreciated by both groups. He is also known as the 13th apostle. Paul s strongest emphasis was on the death, resurrection, and lordship of Jesus Christ. He preached ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Paul of Tarsus had many historical impacts on people s philosophical ideas. Some examples of these historical impacts are; spreading Christianity into Europe, creating Christian communities amongst the gentiles, and preaching the Gospel message primarily to the Romans of the Roman Empire while Peter reached Jewish believers and brought them into the Christian church. Lastly, Paul established how these communities should see themselves. Paul had impacts to the Christian people even before he was baptized and converted. Due to the fact that he was the one who would prosecute the Christian people and send them to their death; this lead to the Christian people spreading out hundreds of kilometers in every direction spreading God s ... • 3. Social Class Vs. Upper Class Based on which social class an individual falls into, the parenting style that they display or experience may vary. Are these differences in social classes affecting the way children in these households are brought up? If so, are these parenting styles reinforcing social class division? It is inevitable that the occupation, education, and income or wealth that an individual possesses will define their social class. This paper claims that children of different socioeconomic classes go through different socialization processes due to varying parenting styles that emerge in these distinct social classes. The parental behaviors and the social interaction between the parent and the child is linked to the social class that the family is a part ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to the values that these parents live their lives by the same values are the ones they are passing on to their children. When these children grow up they are likely to be expected to work in places much like the ones their parents are working in and hopefully with the values instilled in them they will be able to hold onto their jobs. Parents in the lower and working social class tend to believe that they can never be too involved in their children s education. (Pew) This provides an interesting contrast because based off of another survey parents in this class are the least likely to read out loud to their children. This is likely a matter of time management. Parents in this class are often working 2 or 3 jobs to make ends meet. These children spend a majority of their childhood in the care of extended family, seeing as most of these families live in poor neighborhoods and childcare is not readily available or affordable. But these parents still feel that their kids should be doing well in school, education is an important part of being able to get better jobs, and if the parents want their children to be able to socially move up in the society than they will be more likely to want to be involved in their children s education. Their teachings have aided to form the value systems of Eastern and Western and cultures, which have navigated millions of people in behavior, spirit, mind, behavior, and relationships. There are also similarities in their lessons about humanity; Christianity holds family sacred, reveres the past and respects order. Hence, it embraces the truth and goodness of Confucius doctrines. Rishmawy states that he has learned a different way of viewing Jesus teachings with the help of Confucius (D. Rishmawy 2015). Before he read Confucius, he had a mentality that loving your enemy involves treating them precisely as you would entertain your friends. After going through it, he understood that this was unwise in some situations that required one to protect themselves from such kind of people. Consequently, through such incidences of both ideologies complementing each other, one can be both a Confucian and a Christian at the same time. Despite the similarities between the two, differences that may prevent one from being both a Christian and a Confucian exist. According to Huang (2009), differences between them are seen in their ways of thinking. One of the apparent striking differences is in their beliefs. Christians have faith in a single God who created everything in the universe. God is considered to be distinct from human beings. God is purely spiritual, unlike a human being who has a physical and spiritual segment. Nevertheless, Confucians have no particular person as their god (Doyle and Chang, 2014). Confucius never ... She attempts to succinctly describe policy, stating, At the end of the day, the formulation of public policy involves a process of making good decisions for the public good (2005, p. 18) but this is a description of how policy is made and fails to define policy. Levison and Sutton (2001) also define policy as a verb by equating policy as a practice of power (p. 2). This definition implies that policymakers are powerful when in there have been times in our history that marginalized groups of people acquired more power as a result of policy. Groups such as the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered community (or communities, depending on your perspective), could hardly be described as powerful yet they are moving public perception and policy initiatives in new directions with rapidity politicians either envy or decry. A specific example of this interconnection can be seen quite easily when examining two of the world s biggest problems: poverty and population stabilization. Statistically, there is a correlation between high fertility rates and high poverty rates (Merrick). This does not imply causation, but does tell us a relationship between the two is present. So what is the interconnection? First of all, high poverty rates mean less education regarding family planning and less access to birth control methods. Secondly, high poverty rates might also encourage families to have more children that will eventually provide supplemental income or physical labor (Merrick). So population growth cannot be stabilized without addressing problems of poverty and addressing problems of poverty will mostly likely aid in population stabilization. Highet accused Pound of bad taste and a disgusting misinterpretation of Propertius. Later, Robert Graves, a classical translator, attacked Pound s inaccuracies in the poem. • 22. Elizabeth Gaskell s Construction Of The Ideal Man In Victorian Britain, monumental changes were occurring in regards to class structure and gender ideals due to social and economic changes sparked by the Industrial Revolution. These changes caused a new image of masculinity to emerge. The concept of masculinity came to embody a new ideal, self made man, measured by advances based on personal success rather than birthright(M19). It was expected that men were to exude manly toughness and independent spirit while providing the financial support and leadership for the household(m19). Beyond these basic characteristics, Elizabeth Gaskell s construction of the ideal man incorporates a fusion of gender traits as strengths of masculinity, notably her emphasis on manly nurturance and tenderness as seen in her novel Mary Barton(wcm334). While the evolving social structure of 19th century Britain was a cause for the increasing emphasis on manliness, it was also the source of challenges faced by working class men as they struggled to achieve and maintain this new sense of masculinity. By analyzing Gaskell s Mary Barton and additional texts from the period, supplemented by contemporary analysis of the concept of masculinity, this paper provides insight into the constructions of masculinity in working class men of Victorian society and discusses the struggles workers faced as they strove to achieve manhood amidst the changing social climate. • 23. Freidrich Heincke s Paper Introduction A paper published in 1898 by the Freidrich Heincke, a German fisheries biologist, influenced biologists to consider the population as the unit of study instead of the species. Insights from the Heincke s paper helped to cultivate the influential quantitative methodology to distinguish marine fish populations. The application of statistical methods and quantification techniques in marine biology contributed to the generation of an enormous amount of knowledge related to fisheries. The shift of fishery biologists, Zoologists and wildlife agencies towards numbers and measurement in their research methodology, shaped modern Fisheries Science and contributed to solving some of the critical problems associated with fisheries. In 1957, a model published by Beverton and Holt enabled scientists to predict the future size and yields of fish stock. This quantitative bio economic model allowed governments to make decisions on the most optimal fishing levels to help reach biological and economic goals ( Bavington, D.L.Y. 2009). Cod fishery management systems in Canada incorporated Heincken s population approach and bio economic system models of the 1950 s to calculate the total allowable catch. An official report that was the basis for Canada s Cod fisheries management strategy, tremendously overestimated northern Cod populations. In the book Sex in the Heartland, the author Beth Bailey provides the reader with a distinct, detailed, and informative read of the impact in which the sexual revolution had on American culture during the 1960 s.This revolution took place in the town of Lawrence, Kansas, which Bailey refers to as the heartland of America. As Bailey states in her introduction, Kansas is the quintessential heartland state (4). The overall themes Bailey introduces are the dynamics of social change, as well as sexual change. Bailey argues throughout the course of the book that there was in fact, a sexual revolution. Reflecting of this change, Bailey writes, What were long term events resulted in gradual trends (2). These events are what make up the sex revolution discussed throughout Bailey s book. The purpose of Sex in the Heartland is to assess the ongoing change in cultural normalcies, and the impact the sexual revolution had on university towns such as Lawrence. Bailey encourages readers to gain a deeper understanding of what the revolution was in the eyes of the 1960 s American society. Throughout the book, Bailey argues that in cities around the country in the 1960 s, the ordinary person battled the constant struggle of both private and public sexual behaviors, which came to follow post WWII in America. Davidism began in the 1920 and surrealism derives from it; the textbook describes this movement as being An artistic movement...that attacked all accepted standards of art and behavior and delighted in outrageous conduct. Dadisms view of anti art began after the end of World War I when humanity began to realize that they could exterminate whole nations therefore life was meaningless and art should be too. Surrealism emerged as a form of dadaism and was impacted tremendously by Freudian psychology about the id, ego, and superego; they painted epic worlds of wonderland like scenes and images drawn on impossible landscapes. DalĂ s depiction of Narcissus in his painting was altered after Freud termed Narcissism as, the displacement of an individual s libido towards that individual s own body, towards the ego of the subject. In Spain, where DalĂ resided the Spanish Communist Party was still fairly weak in the early 1930s and therefore no early surrealist movements were sparked until the party grew in popularity. These divisions created a low level of inter racial acceptance, especially in the highly segregated areas of LA. When Rodney King was brutally assaulted by white police officers, the trial became a symbol of racial tensions throughout the city. Minority groups empathized with King, as they too had been victims of society s neglect. On April 29, 1992, following the verdict of the jury: not guilty on all counts, Los Angeles burst into violence. Originating at the intersection of Florence and Normandie, enrage rioters blocked the roads and attacked drivers unable to flee. By the next day, fires were widespread throughout the city, and there were many casualties and hundreds injured. Police forces were far overwhelmed so many Koreans storeowners took up arms to defend their shops from looting and destruction by predominately Blacks rioters. By the third day, the military brought the riots under control, which had left a toll of 60 deaths, 2,000 people injured, and billions of dollars in property damage, 40% of which was to Korean own. Although the violence between Koreans and Blacks was sparked by the Rodney King trial, the strife was primarily fueled by preexisting racial tensions. • 36. Theme Of Expressionism In Bury The Dead The characters, conflicts and physical settings in Bury the Dead are all carefully constructed to initiate a specific emotional response. They are not created to be analyzed as being apart of reality. However, expressionism is not a subset of complete fantasy, it is a distilled form of reality in which an artist or author can focus specifically on an event, person or group of people and the subsequent inner reaction he or she wants to make aware to the audience. Expressionism can be found throughout literature, art and theater, therefore it is not difficult to exhibit similar reactions found in Bury the Dead in other mediums or even settings. A new transposition of Shaw s work would ardently relate the stark themes to a modern audience. The second facet of Shaw s play that stands out as essential is the use of sardonic wit in his dialogue. Verbal quips can be described as sardonic if they are intended to criticize or demean a person or group of people. For example, in Bury the Dead, the Doctor references the apathy of the Generals during his examinations. Shaw, primarily because the play is a form of propaganda, constructs the dialogue of every character to carry the weight of his thesis of dichotomy. This realization connects the sardonic wit back to the expressionistic characteristics. The characters and the setting are literary marionettes dancing to the music of propaganda, holding no free intelligence unaligned to Shaw s themes. In a vast sea of consumerism and ... This also eliminates extra overload from system. 5.2 COMPONENTS: In this section we describe the role of each component. A. User The role of the user is limited to uploading files to the system, encrypting them with the AES encryption technique, signing the resulting encrypted files and creating the storagerequest. Finally, the user also signs each files with a special signature scheme. In order not to apply costly signatureoperations for the file, for all it adds owner name to a separate MM.
