The Great Cat Massacre Analysis
Overall, the argument of The Great Cat Massacre was that a historian could use the writings of a
particular point in history to determine the psychology of the people of that time. In this case, it
was of the French people in the decades before the French Revolution. Like Natalie Zemon Davis,
Darnton claimed he had the ability to know the mental landscape of the people he studied,
understanding their motives based on the few words that were placed before him. But is this
determination of a people s mindset possible? How much of the catmassacre was Darnton s
thoughts and beliefs and how much were of the people he was studying? The truth is that there is
no way of knowing what is history and what is Darnton s perception of history. Like Davis,
Darnton ran the fine line of telling history as it was, and using that history to support his own
beliefs and opinions, and the critics, as before, had a problem with this practice.
Roger Chartier, in his article Text, Symbols, and Frenchness, began his argument with the belief
that Darnton gave the incident of the cat massacre too many levels of meaning. How could this one
act be a statement about the treatment of the workers, the practice of witchcraft, the cuckolding of
a husband, and a critique of the new lifestyles of the masters all at one time? Chartier starts his
argument against this interpretation by criticizing Darnton s use of a modern definition of symbol.
Chartier believed that, anyone concerned primarily with

The Best Practices Of Determining A Budget
Every company relies on accurate budget estimates in order to provide the correct amount of
allocated dollars in a budget plan that the company develops. Most companies develop budgets
that look at least two years into the future. Each company is different, however typically most
expect their projected budgets to be within 10% less or 25% more of the projected budget
(Schwalbe 281). In order to do this, managers must allocate project costs to individual work items
over the lifetime of the project. Project managers will create a cost baseline (time phased budget)
in order to measure and monitor the performance of their projects over the projects duration. Any
changes or updates that are needed should be changed and reflected in a newly updated budget.
Real time budget updates are vital in order to avoid financial problems. Ultimately, budgeting
provides a prediction of the projects funding requirements. This article will go into detail about the
best practices of determining a budget, and how they can be innovated for a better approach in the
future.
In his book, Tactical Issues Best Practice Solutions in Budgeting, Stephan Hunt discusses five focus
areas that make up the best practice of determining a budget. These areas include: rolling forecasts,
increased participation of operational owners, link detail to accountability, end user analysis, and
driver based forecasting and budgeting (Hunt 3).
First, this paper will explain why rolling forecasts are considered a

Junk Food Should Be Banned
Junk food is currently banned from school to help decrease obesity, but it may turn out that it is
doing more harm than good. Junk food is a favorite amongst students and the ban on it has affected
students as well as the schools themselves. The ban on junk food should be repealed, mainly
because students will get junk foodon their own, but the schools are also suffering from this ban,
and finally, studies show that junk foodis not the only cause of obesity. The first reason why we
need to take away the ban on junk food is kids will get junk food no matter what. According to
Rosenthal, students at some open campus schools have made it a practice to walk to nearby mini
marts and gas stations to buy the same products they used to... Show more content on

This is saying that because the kids are being exposed to older kids then their choices are being
affected by the older kids. The third reason for getting rid of the junk food ban is that schools are
losing large amounts of money because kids will not buy the healthier snacks that are now
provided by the school. Cary states that, Greenville County Schools says forced changes to its in
school food vendors could cost it $1 million in sales this school year. This is saying that schools
could lose up to $1 million because of the changes in vending options. Cary also says that the
ban on junk food could affect the after school tutoring programs because of budget cuts. So
because of the ban on junk food, students grades and success are being limited because of lack of
funding from vending machines and snacks sold throughout and after the school day. Finally,
Cary states, The ban has taken a bite out of fundraisers that sell cookies, candy bars, and popcorn.
It also affects vendors who provide items for sale in schools. This states that the ban on junk food
is also affecting fundraising activities and outside companies who will lose millions of dollars
because they can no longer sell their products to the schools. Though the ban on junk food has
affected schools and students in negative ways, it has also affected them in positive ways. Junk
food was interfering with students actually eating a

Character Analysis Of Esperanza Rising
In the book Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan, Esperanza is the main character who is the
protagonist. Esperanza is a thirteen year old child that has been faced with more tragic events
from the age of nine to thirteen than some may experience their whole life time. Her character is
very smart, determined, and compassionate just like some of the kids you may know. The author
does a great job with allowing the reader to get inside Esperanza s head to understand her thinking
and logic. The author uses Esperanza life to encourage children who may be going through some of
the same experience, that they could make it through to. Although Esperanza is just a normal kid
trying to have fun, the constant tragic events in her life forces her to mature instantly becoming a
strong young adult. This paper will discuss how Esperanza grew up and some of Esperanza
reactions that shows her growth in maturity, while exploring some of the conflicts Esperanza
experienced that causes her to change her thinking.
First, the book starts off telling the story of how Esperanza grew up in a loving wealthy family who
owned El Rancho de las Rosas in Aguascalientes, Mexico. She was surrounded by generations of
family members who loved her. The family had lots of servants who worked for them during the
grape harvest season and they also helped them with everything else during the off season.
Esperanza was a young girl who really didn t understand poverty and was known to have a
snobbish attitude at times when she was little because of her family s wealth. She was
surrounded by families that were just as wealthy as her own so poverty was not a norm in their
community. There are many examples of her snobby ways in the beginning of book like when
she first boarded a train in Mexico and realizes that she and her friend definitely wouldn t be
traveling first class. Her reaction to this was basically like: You expect me to travel coach?! Yeah
right. It was evident Esperanza did not use to a present lifestyle. Esperanza father was her biggest
mentor and she followed his teachings very closely. After the death of her father, it was people like
Abuelita, Mama, and Miguel that help keep Esperanza diva tude in check which helped keep her

Power to the people? web 2.0, Facebook
,and DIY cultural citizenship in Aotearoa New Zealand. By Ian Goodwin.

The aim of Ian
Goodwin s article Power to the people? web 2.0, Facebook ,and DIY cultural citizenship in
Aotearoa New Zealand is to fuel a more informed and critically diverse debate on the values of web
2.0as so far most of the conversation on this topic has been children s safety on the internet .The
target audience is fairly wide however given that the article is from MediaNZ it is safe to assume
that the principle demographic this is aimed toward Media Studies students ,and teachers.
Goodwin uses a range of strategies to fuel the broader discussion on the values of web 2.0:
Repeated words with the purpose of accustoming the audience to the words, Target audience as a
strategy with the purpose to gain a more informed and critical discussion and structural placement
with the purpose of highlighting the global and local importance of web 2.0.

The title is
significant in revealing the authors intentions to make the article a debate rather than something
with a correct ,or incorrect answer. The question mark is interesting because it is the first thing that
the reader sees ,and it begins make them question what they already know and don t know about
this topic. It is already making them analyse where they stand on this issue ,and why. I tend to think
that making the given audience already think before they

Warlord Rule and Sun Yat Sen s Inability to Achieve the Aims of the Three People s Principles
I agree with the statement only to a small extent. The period of warlord rule was particularly
chaotic in China. However, even when order was being restored again, the aims of the three
people s principles were not all being achieved. Therefore, I feel that warlord rule is not the most
important reason as to why Sun Yat Sen was unable to achieve the aims of the three people s
principles.
The three people s principles are the principle of nationalism, the principle of democracy and the
principle of the people s well being. The first one is Sun Yat Sen s aim to unite the whole of China.
As for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this period, it was also a time of lawlessness. The warlords fought each other as they
hoped to gain control over a larger territory. This brought about much suffering to the Chinese
people. Sun Yat Sen s principle of democracy is not being upheld as these warlord ruled over
their area like a dictator. These warlords exploited the people under them, like the peasants. Thus
it is clear that Sun Yat Sen s principle s are not being achieved or even upheld. He, himself could
not do anything as his party and government was still too weak. However, this period of warlord
rule is not the only factor that prevented him from being unable to achieve his aims.
Due to the disunity in his party, Kuomintang (KMT), he could not achieve the aims of his three
principles. Before he can actually unite the whole country, he would need to unite his party
members. He often met failure when he tried to reunite the country due to internal squabbles in
his own party. They often argued over the third principle. Some party members wanted the land
of the landlords to be taken away from them, and come under state ownership. However, there
were others who disagreed. Therefore, this made it very difficult for Sun Yat Sen to get his party
members to work together to achieve his aims. He soon realised he had to reorganize his
movement again before he could actually topple warlord rule and unify

The Price of Unethical Behavior Essays
The Price of Unethical Behavior The Price of Unethical Behavior Tyco International as a whole
was no different any other company in that it contained a chief executive officer (CEO) that
wanted to achieve success. But at some point that success turned into greed. Dennis Kozlowski
began working for Tyco in 1975 and was named the CEO in 1992. Kozlowski had a reputation
for being aggressive in his field and during his tenure at Tyco was named one of the Top 25
Managers of the Year and became one of the highest paid CEOs (Kaplan, 2009, p. 14). Along his

by observing and imitating others (O Fallon amp; Butterfield, 2012, p. 118). In the case of Tyco
International, investigations stemming from the indictment of Kozlowski uncovered similar
unethical behavior among many of the board members. Employees...are not likely to report the
behavior to an authority figure, particularly if the peer is a friend (as cited in O Fallon amp;

positions including Tyco s board of directors. These strategically placed individuals observed
Kozlowski, the chief executive officer and friend to some, living a lavish lifestyle, and engaged in
the same behavior whether they thought it was right or wrong. Kozlowski s unethical behavior
did not happen over night, his actions became more prominent and confident over time. Gino and
Bazerman (n.d.) found that people are more likely to accept the unethical behavior of others if the
unethical behavior develops gradually over time than if it occurs abruptly (p. 711). When
Kozlowski began working for Tyco, he worked under CEO Joseph

What Is Lombroso Legacy
Since offenders were more primitive, Lombroso said, they could be recognized by certain physical
qualities, e.g. low, inclining temples; vast jaws; long arms; meaty lips; sneaky eyes. Lombroso s
suspicion that specific individuals were more best in class developmentally than others tied in with
his bigot conviction that specific gatherings of individuals specifically, those of European lineage
were more best in class developmentally than different gatherings, for example, those from Africa.
The thought that a few individuals are conceived culprits had self evident and disagreeable strategy
suggestions. First off, it suggested that restoration was impossible. Somebody hereditarily bound to

legacy has been the inclination of dynamic speculation individuals following the time when to
dismiss the thought that criminal conduct has a hereditary part, since that conviction appeared to
lead specifically to jail, sanitization, or demise for those unfortunates conceived with the wrong

The Subtext Of Sonnet 130 By William Shakespeare
In the 21st century, literature is imperative to societal development; and, as such, particular styles
of writing appeal to diverse groups of people. Although traditional poetry is debatably obsolete
within contemporary backgrounds, current writers and music artists still employ such methods.
William Shakespeare, for instance, expertly composed a collection of 154 sonnets; their
construction, themes and emotions still effectively pave direction for future literature. Constructed
to communicate contrasting ideals of love, the first 126 texts are based upon stereotypical romantic
embellishment, while the remaining 28 focus solely on the feeling of an emotional connection,
rather than that of the physical. Sonnet 130, in particular, is clearly a parody of the conventional
love story, in which Shakespeare creatively pays a pragmatic tribute to the dark lady . While
implying that his love for her is unconditional despite describing her appearance rather viciously, the
authentic subtext of Sonnet 130 heavily relies on language rather than generic poetic techniques,
and positions readers differently based upon their status within society. During the Elizabethan era,
Shakespeare had two major audiences with visibly dissimilar attitudes and morals, driven by that of
the separation between the lower and upper classes. Sonnet 130, therefore, was intended to
communicate independent readings of love based upon a particular social group and their
interpretation. The noble born

Upon my enrollment in high school, I joined multiple student organizations. I have been a
member of my High School s marching band, the Sound of Pride (SOP), since the eighth grade
and have continued to participate every season. I marched both trombone and euphonium
before becoming the Assistant Drum Major as a sophomore in the 2016 season. This past
season, I was named the band s Drum Major, becoming the school s first junior to ever hold the
title. After the conclusion of the marching band season, I perform with the TCHS Symphonic
Wind Ensemble for both a winter and spring concert. During the spring, I also perform with the
TCHS High Tide Steel Pan Band. I have been a member of both bands since freshman year. At
the start of my junior year, I became the pianist for the TCHS Chorus. This year, I also joined the
TCHS Drama Club and participated in the club sponsored One Act Play titled, The Great American
Talent Show. Finally, the my sophomore year, I was chosen to be one of the six members of the
Georgia Secretary of State Student Ambassadors to represent my high school and Tattnall County.
Through this program, my team and I educate our community about how our government works
and volunteer at local voting polls and municipalities. I was chosen to be a part of this team again
at the start of this semester.
I was indicted into the GIFTED Program in 2011, and I continue to take rigorous courses through

Church Industry Analysis Paper
Industry Facts
What is the size of your market? o There are hundreds of thousands of churches here in America,
all of which could benefit from paid social media advertising and expert advice. Although midsize
to mega church sized churches are more likely able to afford such services.
What is the current demand in the target market? o With amount of churches in America and the
church s overall dive in numbers, there is certainly a high demand for effective church social
marketing services. Churches need to relearn how to reach people and how to encourage them to
stay in the house of God within the current culture in America. Taking into account that there are

oThe increasing trend of social media use is also ever present. There were almost 2 billion people
on Facebook in 2016 alone and 400 million on Instagram (Chaffey, 2106, p.1). Furthermore,
approximately one in five Americans share their faith online (Pew Research Center, 2015, p.1)
What is the growth potential? o The growth potential is limitless due to the fact that many churches
are not taking advantage of such services and the overarching mission of each church is to reach
people.
What are barriers do you face in entering this market and how can you overcome them? o
Churches may not be able to afford or feel the need to invest in paid advertising. Their invest into
paid advertising would include my fee of $2,000 $2,500 plus their monthly ad spent of at least
$3,000. This would be a monthly investment of a least $5,000. I would mostly likely limit my
reach to midsize and large churches that already have a strategy that just needs to be further
developed. Furthermore, I have never run church specific advertising so churches may question my
ability because they think church marketing is so different than other verticals and it is not.
Understanding how to effectively reach people is the same no matter the platform. I will overcome
this possible setback by explaining my true expertise is in reaching brand specific target audiences.

Analysis Of Drag Representations In Film
As the semester comes to an end, there is so much I have learned about Drag as an art form, and
the community that surrounds it. When I wrote my first journal entry, I talked about how I did not
know much about the Drag community besides watching RuPaul s Drag Race and visiting
different bars and clubs like the Parliament House and Pulse to see different Queens perform once
in a while. After this course, I have learned about how the Drag community is quite diverse and
experimental. A few of the topics that have changed my perspective on Drag, and the community
were looking at Drag Representations in Film, Charles Busch, and Dragula.
When first learning about Drag Representations in Film, I have seen the Hedwig and the Angry
Inch film adaptation, as well as, Mrs. Doubtfire. I always knew that for the most part there were
usually cisgender people representing transgender characters, but it never clicked that there has
been almost no representation of legitimate transgender actors in film. There are some moments
that we discussed during the course that had an impact on my opinion of the representation in film.
While going through the slides, there was a moment where even though cisgender actors plays
transgender characters, performers like Felicity Huffman made sure to at least mention the
importance of the transgender community, whereas Jared Leto did not care to mention a word
about the community. Even though Mr. Leto may not have said anything, this spoke volumes to the

Stimulus And Brand Selection
This study is an attempt to fill the gaps identified in the available literature on the association of
stimulus and brand selection. The present study measured the stimulus and its impact on brand
selection or purchase decision in the Indian online retail. To assess this relationship, different
models have been designed to investigate and measure the stimulus. For investigation purposes, a
qualitative model has been developed and presented in Chapters earlier. This model prioritized the
various factors of stimulus in context of the online retail. Next to this, the measurement aspect of
stimulus was addressed by the development of a quantitative model shown in Chapters earlier.
This model has been used to develop and validate the scale for the measurement of stimulus in the
Indian online retail. The present study comprises of the following: A broad and thorough literature
review has been conducted on the association of stimulus and brand purchase decision. The
literature review consists of the evolution and definitions of individual, technology and societal
groups and brand purchase decision, a classification of available literature, and various factors
which constitute Stimulus in S O R model. Based on this basis of this review, gaps, and a research
agenda was identified which provided a sound base to conduct the present study. A literature review
of the methodologies used in this field of study was also conducted. These methodologies were

The Problem Of A Housing Crisis
In order to prevent another housing crisis we must implement programs that would teach housing
buyers and potential homeowners how to buy homes wisely because most potential homeowners
are unsophisticated and do not know at what rate to buy homes and set personal guidelines for
mortgages. The complexity of buying homes not only affected homeowners and home buyers but
also confused sophisticated securities investors in that these securities investors sold MBS
(Mortgage Backed Securities) at an excessive price range that the MBS should never had been
sold at. We need legislative reforms that makes home mortgages to be more simplified and
transparent market practices such as underwriting standards, in bonds or other security measures
based on these mortgages. There must be oversight in terms of those originating mortgages and
selling them, at an astronomical price. Unless legislature implement legal parameters that set the
structural ground work for simplification we won t be able to stave off another mortgage crisis.
Denmark for instance has set up simplified system of residential lending and finance with logical
costs of capital to borrowing home buyers. Economically speaking it would be great if the United
States government enact reforms that would bring about lower rates of household investments in
home ownership in this country. Households in the United States have long been overinvested in
where they lived. In previous bygone eras residential lending in the United States

EU ASEAN Dialogue relations
Executive Summary
The European Union (EU) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), as two of the
most important regional organizations, have been interacting with each other on the economic,
political and cultural levels for more than four decades. In the 21st century, Asia has become the
most dynamic region in the global economy today. What is more, its regional security and stability
has grabbed increasing global attention as well.
From the EU perspective, after the financial crisis, economy in Europe has not fully recovered
yet. For EU, cooperating with Asia in economic sector is even more important since the latter has
world s largest population that buys almost a quarter of EU exports. Besides, EU has a strategic
interest in regional security in Asia. For example, the EU s interests would be hurt by tensions on
the Korea Peninsula or across the Taiwan Straits. Thirdly, nowadays, the US and Russia even other
emerging powers have further deepened their economic and political relationship with South East
Asia. Under this circumstances, the EU should speed up its pace strengthen its political and
economic presence across the region through comprehensive cooperation lest it would be
marginalized by both Asia and the US in the near future.

Summary Of John Locke s Second Treatise
John Locke, an important political thinker, wrote Second Treatise of Government and A Letter

one of the books that the founding fathers used ideas from. The most significant chapter of the
Second Treatise is Chapter 5. Section 50 of this chapter is one of the core passages. This passage
leads from the to the need for a civil society/government in order to protect the property rights.
Locke is fascinated with the introduction of money in the sense that he was puzzled and curious

Money is something that lasts a long time and will not spoil with time and provided a common
value in which to use in trading. With this agreement, money began to represent wealth in the goods
and services. With money, people were able to expand their possessions creating a vaster amount of
unequal possessions. Locke states that with the use of money, that by mutual consent men would
take in exchange for the truly useful (22). This shows that men, whether they realized it or not,
have consented to having more disproportionate and unequal possessions voluntarily when they
agreed to use money. This was not something that was imposed on the people by stronger men; this
is what the people agreed to. Another problem is when Locke states that there are unequal
possessions with the use of money (23). Before the invention of money, one family might need
more to survive as they have more members than another family. In this situation, there would not
be equal possessions among the families. The family would still be obtaining property through
labor and only taking what was needed; yet they would have more than the other family. This shows
that there was inequality before money was

Title Ix Of The Education
When it comes to Title IX most people just think of it as something that lets women play sports,
or they just don t know what it means. According The United States Department of Justice
website, the definition of Title IX is a comprehensive federal law that prohibits discrimination on
the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity. The principal objective of
Title IX is to avoid the use of federal money to support sex discriminationin education programs
and to provide individual citizens effective protection against those practices. It also mentions
that Title IX applies to the traditional educational institutions like colleges, schools and
universities, but it also applies to and education and training program operated by the use of
federal finances. ( Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. ) The Title IX law came into
effect when the president signed it and made it a law on June 23 1972. ( Title IX of the
Education Amendments of 1972. ) Title IX is a law that allows both genders to have equal
opportunities when it comes to things like education, sports, and financial aid. Before Title IX

My Life At Indian River State College
From a young age I have had a passion for sports. Not just a single sport but all sports. The
understanding of the sport either it be soccer, baseball, football, or rugby came easy to me and I
was always thought of an important player of the team from my coaches. I love being on the
team yet still performing individually. Late in my teens another passion developed and it too
came easy for me. This passion would be the performing on stage; Acting. The beautiful art of
Acting has recently impacted my life in a way I cannot describe. After success with other
performances at my high school, I have been encouraged to seriously step foot into the world of
acting. Being enrolled at Indian River State College will allow me to begin my journey and stay
close to home but not for long. I plan to transfer to seek my Bachelor s Degree in Sports
Management and I may even double with a Bachelor Degree of Fine Arts. I see my future as
being someone who is in the spotlight. I plan on using my Bachelor s Degree to achieving my goal
of becoming a head football coachof an unranked University team and raising them to the top and
proceed to the Professional level. My focus will not be on me but on my players. I will seek to
find what motivates them individually and combine them to produce a winning team. On a
different note, I just might use my Bachelor s Degree to pursue my passion of acting. It is hard to

The Compact Theory, which mostly designed by QuГ©bec Nationalist, indeed, has been the
impact on the federal and provincial relations. Prior to 1867 constitutions, there was not a central

the 1867 was basically an agreement between English and French people in Canada. Provincial

This is a country of different nations and each nation allowed a different territory. Under the BNA
Act those expansive matters fittingly treated nationally, like defence and post office, were under
the federal government, while controls over property, local issues, districts, and most private law
matters went to the provinces. The setting of the constitution was a hierarchy system from the
colonial office to provincial legislatures . The compact theory lets us believe, that the provincial
legislature were the privilege voice and the means of the expression of the people of those
provinces. The federal government does not represent a voice of Ontarian or people of QuГ©bec.
Most Canadian, believe that provinces represent more closely the interest of each their own people
than the federal government does.
The founder of BNA Act created two levels of governments out of political expediency, as a
political convenience. They could not have two countries, but rather, they could have two levels of
government instead. The problem is that by creating two levels of government, the British did not
realize that they are going to give an objective, tangible structure that can be the base of compact
theory. After Confederation, QuГ©bec premiers HonorГ© Mercier and Oliver Mowat allied to
built the strongest record of provincial rights advocacy . Both premiers advocated for compact

Introduction:
Argo is an American political thriller movie. This movie is adapted from a book named The
master of Disguise written by Tony Mendez (a former CIA operative) and an article named The
Great Escape: How the CIA Used a Fake Sci Fi Flick to Rescue Americans from Tehran written by

Congressional Term Limits
Congressional terms have no limits. Controversy exists between those who think the terms should
be limited and those who believe that terms should remain unlimited. The group that wants to limit
the terms argues that the change will promote fresh ideas and reduce the possibility of decisions
being made for self interest. Those who oppose term limits believe that we would sacrifice both the
stability and experience held by veteran politicians. They also point out that our election process
allows the voter to limit terms, at their discretion. While experience and stability are important
considerations, congressional terms should be limited to a maximum of two. Change is difficult

However, statistics show that currently there is a ninety four percent re election rate in the House
and eighty three percent in the Senate. Because of name recognition and the advantage of money,
it can be easy to stay in office. Representative John Dingell, Jr. of Michigan is an example of a
long serving politician. He is now eighty seven years of age and has been serving continuously in
the House of Representatives for more than fifty seven years. Obviously, Representative Dingell has
the experience. However, age may have impaired some of the effectiveness he exhibited earlier in
his career. More than likely, he would not have the stamina required for the non stop debates that
we witnessed prior to the recent government shut down. Representative Dingell certainly has had no
effective campaign competition during his almost fifty eight years in office. Without legitimate
competition, there are not a lot of incentives for a member of Congress to serve the public.
Furthermore, it is almost impossible for the average citizen to try to campaign against current
members of Congress. 3 Finally, the argument that term limits are unconstitutional is valid as the
Constitution currently reads. However, with the appropriate congressional and voter approval
percentages, the term limits for these representatives could become law.

Facebook now allows users to upload a picture of their choice to show at the top of their online
profile. Aside from customizing the looks of online profiles, the content that users post on
social networking sites also is a form of self expression. Certain people may always seem to have
funny statuses, while another may always post quotes, while another always posts song lyrics,
and another simply posts updates about their everyday life. Users of social networking sites
often use their online profile as a reflection of themselves. This is one of the positive effects of
social networking. It encourages creativity, self expression, and allows people to get inspired
and define themselves. They use it as a way to set themselves apart from the crowd. Being
different is celebrated on social networking sites, because it makes everything more interesting.
Social networking is allowing some users to make friends with people they maybe wouldn t

Ancient Roman Times Research Paper
Reading in the ancient roman times was different and similar from reading in the US today. The
ancient romans read from scrolls made out of sheets of papyrus or wooden tablets covered with
wax. We read from stacks of printed paper fastened together at one side. But there are also
similarities between the two. The first difference between reading in the ancient roman times and
reading in the US today is that the ancient romans would have public reading sessions. Public
reading became the central pillar of Roman literary life. People would recite epics, tragedies,
comedies, and lyrics, but mostly poetry. They d regale crowds, at dinner parties, in plazas/forums,
and during the Games (gladiator fights, fights between animals). This lust for readings did, at least,
begin with a love of words.
To the romans, reciting one s own words was self promoting and egotistical. It was only acceptable

The Yellow Wallpaper, And Desiree s Baby
Not so long ago, there was a time that men s dominance and superiority over women was the
social norm. Men were the accepted authorities in any relationship and held all the say. In the two
stories, The Yellow Wallpaper , and Desiree s Baby , the female protagonists are portrayed as
weak characters who are heavily dependent on their husbands for everything. Without the men in
their lives, the women would be essentially helpless. But the authors of these two stores were
nothing like their characters. They were both strong willed women who had a voice of their own
and wanted to make sure it was heard. Thus, both authors used these stories to give feminisma
voice.
Feminism was a concept birthed and bred during the Progressive Era, and time when women s
suffrage was at its peak. Women had gained the right to own property, own businesses, and some
women even began working outside the home. Both stories, Desiree s Baby and The Yellow
Wallpaper were written in the early 1890s, during this pinnacle time in women s right.
The authors of both stories wrote their stories, either accidentally or on purpose, with the
undertones of feminism, hoping to expose the unequal treatment and expectations of females to
males. Both stories challenged the stereotypical roles of females, and in both, the females ended up
being the one in power of their own destinies and overcame the rule of their dominant male
counterpart.
In The Yellow Wallpaper the narrator, Jane, is a wife and mother.

How Millercoors Creates Up Porter s Five Forces
The fourth force that makes up Porter s Five Forces is the bargaining power of buyers. For

Some of the weaknesses that I could think of are that the company has one very large competitor
that represents 50 percent of the market share instead of several semi large competitors, so gaining
the majority of the market share is a difficult task. The second weakness is that the beer brewing
industry has slow industry growth, while the wine industry is growing much more rapidly. In terms
of opportunities and threats, MillerCoors has several opportunities that it could capitalize on. The
opportunities that stand out to me are the foreign market explosive growth, financial markets,
innovation, and increasing the awareness of sustainability issues among consumers and
employees. If MillerCoors took advantage of these opportunities, it would find great success in
several different realms of the competitive market. As far as threats go, there are three main ones
that face MillerCoors. The first one is the competition that the company faces, the second one is the
overall falling beer consumption that is happening worldwide, and the third one is the growing

Simpson from The Simpsonsfor getting himself into trouble but also mainly because he is a fast
learner, Goofyfor his funny charismatic personality, and Naruto for his determination of never
giving up and proving to people what he is capable of doing.
Firstly I would like to talk about how I think Goofy and I are similar. The A Goofy Moviewas a
movie in which Goofy and his son go on a vacation for the summer. The film has many scenes
where Goofy obviously means well but you see he s funny personality come out in the film as
well as his amiable cluelessness. A particular scene where Goofy shows his characteristics is in the
scene where him and Max go to a concert but Goofy can not seem to find Max. As Goofy is
looking for Max, he gets lost and gets himself to go on stage with the singer and as he s there

Essay on The Handicapper General
It is the year 2081. Because of Amendments 211, 212, and 213 to the Constitution, every American
is fully equal, meaning that no one is stupider, uglier, weaker, or slower than anyone else. The
Handicapper General and a team of agents ensure that the laws of equality are enforced.
One April, fourteen year old Harrison Bergeron is taken away from his parents, George and Hazel,
by the government. George and Hazel aren t fully aware of the tragedy. Hazel s lack of
awareness is due to average intelligence. In 2081, those who possess average intelligence are
unable to think for extended stretches of time. George can t comprehend the tragedy because the
law requires him to wear a radio twenty four hours a day. The government broadcasts ... Show more

Hazel thinks George looks exhausted and urges him to lie down and rest his handicap bag, forty
seven pounds of weight placed in a bag and locked around George s neck. He says he hardly
notices the weight anymore. Hazel suggests taking a few of the weights out of the bag, but he says
if everyone broke the law, society would return to its old competitive ways. Hazel says she would
hate that. A noise interrupts the conversation, and George can t remember what they were talking
about.
On TV, an announcer with a speech impediment attempts to read a bulletin. He can t overcome
his impediment, so he hands the bulletin to a ballerina to read. Hazel commends him for working
with his God given abilities and says he should get a raise simply for trying so hard. The ballerina
begins reading in her natural, beautiful voice, then apologizes and switches to a growly voice that
won t make anyone jealous. The bulletin says that Harrison has escaped from prison.
A photo of Harrison appears on the screen. He is wearing the handicaps meant to counteract his
strength, intelligence, and good looks. The photo shows that he is seven feet tall and covered in
300 pounds of metal. He is wearing huge earphones, rather than a small radio, and big glasses
meant to blind him and give him headaches. He is also wearing a red rubber nose and black caps
over his teeth. His eyebrows are shaved off.

The Development of Anglo-Saxon Village West Stow Essay...
West Stow is an area in Britain located within modern day Suffolk, which through the mid 5th
century to early 7th century CE, housed a small Anglo Saxon village. The setting for the
formation of West Stow, and for Anglo Saxon Britain in general, begins around 407 CE with the
exit of Roman troops from Britain. In this paper, I will provide an overview of the circumstances
that led to the Angles and the Saxonsinvading/migrating to Britain, what they built in West Stow,
and whether/how we know what we do about this time period from archaeological findings, or from
primary text sources. To begin, as stated in the introduction, the Roman empirepulled it s armies

One of the big things from a cultural standpoint is the approximate social order of the Anglo Saxons
, as determined from references to various laws regarding them in the Salic Law. At the top of
the order were the Kings in the various kingdoms within Britain, under them were freemen in the
king s service, clergy, regular freemen, freedmen (Freed slaves), and at the bottom, slaves.
These texts also give us some idea of the economy and currency, especially when mentioned in
relation to various fines, as evidenced here; ...if any one be summoned before the court by the
king s law and does not come, he shall be sentenced to 600 denarii, which make 15 solidi. , and
other such laws from the text. A good portion of our historical evidence also comes from
archaeological excavation of various sites in West Stow. One of the most significant
archaeological locations has been Sutton Hoo, grave mounds dating back to the 6th and early 7th
centuries. It contains 17 different burial mounds, the most notable of which (Mound 1) contained
an undisturbed ship burial containing art, jewelry, weapons, armor, textiles, and fine clothing
/accessories. It s clear from the richness of the burial that whoever was buried there was royal and
extremely wealthy, there is no direct evidence of this, but one theory is that it could be Rædwald s

Ruth Madoff s Case Summary
Ruth Madoff felt that the cause of her son s suicide was her husband Ponzi scheme. She also felt
isolated, cut off ties to all her friends, because of her husband s actions.
There are three factors that will negatively impact her ability to deal with her son s suicide:
depression, shame, and humiliated. She is currently depressed and as Kanel (2015) described
depression is A state of being in which the client is sad, low energy, and suicidal, he or she feels
worthless, helpless, and hopeless; the person lacks desire, is socially withdrawn, and is slowed
in processes such as thinking and concentrating (p.80). Her shame from her husband s action
made her isolate herself, humiliated, and her children also refused to talk to her , because she
was on their father s side. Currently depressed client has low self esteem. Lakely, Hirsch, Nelson,
Nsamenang (2014) claimed, high self esteem is associated with satisfaction of psychological
needs and general psychological well being. It promotes a sense of control and certainty over
individuals lives and is related to less psychopathology, including depression, anxiety, and suicidal
behavior (p.563). She should get help from psychiatry or crisis worker to regain her self esteem.

The Movie Wit Exemplifies How Vulnerable Patients During...
The movie Wit exemplifies how vulnerable patients in an outpatient and hospital setting can often
be treated unfairly. Vivian is an English professor of 17 century (John Dunn) poetry. She was newly
diagnosed with stage four metastatic ovarian cancer. Her doctor, Dr. Kelekian has explained to her
that the best choice of treatment would be experimental chemotherapy. He offered her no
alternatives or second opinions and made the decision right then and there that she should do the
experimental study because it was the strongest treatment they could offer her. The main
stockholders in the movie I would like to focus on Dr.Kelekian and Jason. The way in which he
acted towards Vivian was unjust and he was very much in the wrong in countless situations. The
movie Wit displays many ethical issues and dilemmas that often happen in healthcare, the physician
and resident acted in many ways that were morally wrong.
When looking at this dilemma through multifaceted lens I see many different sides that on can
pick. I think the issue is tough but there is a clear picture in my head that the physician had made
the decision to advise Vivian to do this experimental treatment for his own personal gain. I do not
believe that Jason or Dr. Kelekian were thinking of the best interest of their patient. The physician
s role allowed him to have much to gain in terms of research but he did not have any person gain
or loss with the death of Vivian. The only major impact was on the nurse who had

Al-Shabaab Terrorist Group
Introduction:
Al Shabaab as a terrorist group poses a significant threat in Somalia and in the global community.
This paper will start by discussing the background. In this part the paper will show how the group
has evolved from Al Ittihad Al Islam (AIAI) to the Islamic Court Union (ICU) and lastly to Al
Shabaab. Before discussing the group s threat of national security, homeland and international, this
paper will provide the conceptual meaning of key terminology, such as national security, homeland
security, international security and globalization. It is important to understand these concepts
before moving toward the main argument of the paper. After providing the framework for key
concepts, the paper will discuss the group s threat to Somalia in two areas, national security and
homeland security. The paper will go further and identify the threats posed by the group on other
nations homeland security and international security. We will use East African countries and the
United States examples. The paper will provide evidence to support how globalization has shaped
and fueled the threats from Al Shabaab. It will then discuss the primary response from the United
States and from African countries through AMISOM. The paper will provide the way forward and
suggestions for the response of the international community to Al Shabaab. In conclusion, we will
try to alert the international community that although the group has been experience hard times in
Somalia, it is unwise to

Business Intelligence Plan
Executive Summary
The purpose of this report is to explain the importance of Business Intelligence and all of its
components for implementation into the business structure. During the recent years obtaining
useful information in real time has become something that is extremely important, if not even a
critical, factor of success for companies. The time managers have available for use in making
business decisions has been reduced dramatically. Competitive pressures are now requiring that
businesses make intelligent decisions based on their incoming business data, and these decisions
must be made immediately (Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing, 2005, p.5; Hocevar ...

This is an essential component of BI for arriving at valid business decisions. Similar data can be
stored in multiple repositories within a single business; one example would be the inventory of
items for sale. When considering data sources, it is important to understand if there is a
recognized authoritative source for a specific type of data. In many enterprises, the data required
for making business decisions is created by wide ranging applications, perhaps from separate lines
of business (Theme 1).
BI systems today have the capacity to work with numerous types of data such as numerical or non
numerical data. The quality of this data is as important as any other data. The difference in the
level of data quality is one of the many factors that may explain why some organizations are
successful with their BI initiative while some are not so successful (Isik, O., Jones, M.C.,
Sidoroya, A. 2011).
Component three is Data Analytics. This component is used for the analysis of data. Data analytics
refers to the business intelligence technologies that are grounded for the most part in data mining
and statistical analysis. Due to the success that has been achieved overall by the data mining and
statistical analysis community, data analytics continues to be an active area of research (Hsinchun,
Chiang, Storey, 2012).
Data analytics are structured in statistical theories and models, multivariate statistical analysis. It

The Woman Card Was Written By Jill Lepore 27 Essay
The woman card was written by Jill Lepore 27 june 2016, and I have found several of her articles
relevant to my research. Lepore seems to be very educated in politics, and I find her articles to
be very well researched and informative. Her articles seem to be relevant to everyone in general,
she wants the readers to be informed and make educated opinions. Lepore likes to talk about the
past and contrast it to the present. This is a very great way to inform readers of the history and
sacrifices women had to go through to get where we are today. The women s party has only been
around 100 years, this year, and without it, our country would not be where it is today. I thought
that Hillary was going to be the first women president, instead we have the first president who
has never held a political office. Clinton spoke to women when she debated and when she was at
rallies. She reached out to women specifically trying to earn their vote, and with all the protests
lately she seemed to have reached a lot of women, as well as men. Most of the time women are
more compassionate, understanding, and motherly, whereas men are not. It has taken a long time
for women to accomplish the things we have, and Lepore talks about this in several of her articles.
This article illuminates my bibliography topic because it lets people know the history behind
women and voting as well as each of the candidates and their affiliations. This article even talks
about the Republican Party that was

The Four Pillars Of The Dominican Order

Dominicans, also known as the Order of Preachers, are a Catholic religious Order founded by St
Dominic in 1216 and which still exists in over a hundred countries today. Whilst travelling through
France, Dominic encountered a group called the Albigensians, who believed that an evil God
created the world and thus all physical matter was bad. The belief system of the Albigensians
conflicted with the Dominican belief that the true God created all, and that human interactions with

Being involved in a community does not simply mean being present within it, but to also be
willing to share your life with other people. To Dominicans, community life should be a
celebration of unity despite diversity, and finding the common good. Dominicans are called to
share their lives with all people of the world, because God loves all people. By fulfilling the
pillars of prayer, study, and community, we are enabled to give service to the world. Giving
service involves preaching the Word of God, which is represented by how we serve others, as
well as who we are as individuals. Therefore, we are also called to look after ourselves. 3.Reflect

with a simple interface and is USB compatible for the connection. The Micro 3D printer comes
with the M3D software, USB cable, instructions manual, country specific power adapter and one

created by the M3D. This 3D printer can work for hours consistently providing auto leveling and
auto calibration without any maintenance other than changing the filament spools or the print bed.
This could be used for business, education or personal purpose. The M3D can be used to create
products like the glasses, jewelry, planes, cars, small models or any other creative products that the

The Capitalists Who Shaped Post-Civil War America
Accurately established by many historians, the capitalists who shaped post Civil War industrial
America were regarded as corrupt robber barons . In a society in which there was a severe
imbalance in the dynamics of the economy, these selfish individuals viewed this as an opportunity
to advance in their financial status. Thus, they acquired fortunes for themselves while purposely
overseeing the struggles of the people around them. Presented in Document A, as liveried carriage

hopes of rebuilding America, the capitalists hunger for wealthonly widened the gap between the

As the capitalists continued their corruption, the wealthy class became wealthier; but the poorer
class became more dependant. The gulf between the employed and the employer was growing
wider (Document A). Similarly, many actions performed by these capitalists, contributed to the
sorrowful lives of many farmers, who were struggling to survive. Pursuing this further, the rich soil
of the West was becoming poor, and floods contributed to the problem, and, eventually caused
erosion. Beginning in the summer of 1887, a series of droughts forced many people to abandon
their farms and towns. As circumstances worsened, farmers were beginning to be controlled by
corporations and processors. The farmers were at the mercy of many trusts, which, in turn, could
control the productivity and raise prices to high levels. Furthermore, during the late 19th century,
many farmers considered monopolies, trusts, railroads, and money shortages as evident threats to
their lifestyle. The rise of these monopolies and trusts worried many farmers because they felt that
the disappearance of competition would lead to erratic and unreasonable price rises that would
harm consumers. Oftentimes, these robber barons would prevent competitors from reaching the
markets by restricting their ability to transport their goods. In Document E, James B. Weaver wrote
of the main weapons of the trust organized commerce: threats, intimidation, bribery, fraud,

The Importance Of Minority Rights In America
America is the number 1 nation in the world! is a common phrase we hear time and time again.
American citizens, in my opinion, have a distorted view on how awesome our country is. America
was founded on the idea of freedom at least freedom for white men at the time. While we have
grown and made bounds for the rights of minoritieslike African Americans, Hispanics and women;
there is still room to grow. So many of our citizens feel disenfranchised by our government and that
our implemented democracy doesn t grant them the same rights as others. This is usually a feeling
felt by those in minoritygroups. Many in the majority don t realize that there are these
discrepancies in our democracy because it s not something that affects them. That is one of the
obstacles, many turn a blind eye to the injustices they see within our democracy because they do
not want to get involved or they want the status quo to stay intact. The majority s desire to stay on
top in our country is a huge influence in how those in the minority then view their abilities. Many
minority members feel hopeless and that despite speaking up a power shift to equality will never
be attainable. There is a profound lack of representation of minority groups in offices of power. As
discussed in this class, there have only even been eight African American US Senators, and only
two currently in the Senate now. This lack of representation harms minority youth because when
they have grand dreams of changing the

How Did World War 1 Affect The World
World War I was the war that changed and affect the world in many different ways. It changed the
views of the people of the world, by whom to trust and who not to trust. Countries turned on each
other and chose sides in World War I. The source of the beginning of World War I is the
assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Ferdinand was an Austrian Hungarian and the
assassinator was a Serbian. Austria Hungary fought in revenge for their killing of their Archduke.
However, when they fought, other countries joined too. France, United Kingdom, Russia was
known as the Triple Entente before the war. However, they joined the World War and they all
fought Austria Hungary and sided with Serbia and called themselves the Allied Power. Before the
war, Austria Hungary was in an alliance called the Triple Alliance, and the alliance included the
Germans and the Italians. Germany and Austria Hungary created the Central Powers along with the
Ottoman Empire. The Italians did not side with the Central Powers and became neutral until they
decided to betray the alliance and join the Allied Powers. During the beginning of the war, the
Germans decided to play hard and decided to fight from not just one front, but two fronts. The

  • 2. The Great Cat Massacre Analysis Overall, the argument of The Great Cat Massacre was that a historian could use the writings of a particular point in history to determine the psychology of the people of that time. In this case, it was of the French people in the decades before the French Revolution. Like Natalie Zemon Davis, Darnton claimed he had the ability to know the mental landscape of the people he studied, understanding their motives based on the few words that were placed before him. But is this determination of a people s mindset possible? How much of the catmassacre was Darnton s thoughts and beliefs and how much were of the people he was studying? The truth is that there is no way of knowing what is history and what is Darnton s perception of history. Like Davis, Darnton ran the fine line of telling history as it was, and using that history to support his own beliefs and opinions, and the critics, as before, had a problem with this practice. Roger Chartier, in his article Text, Symbols, and Frenchness, began his argument with the belief that Darnton gave the incident of the cat massacre too many levels of meaning. How could this one act be a statement about the treatment of the workers, the practice of witchcraft, the cuckolding of a husband, and a critique of the new lifestyles of the masters all at one time? Chartier starts his argument against this interpretation by criticizing Darnton s use of a modern definition of symbol. Chartier believed that, anyone concerned primarily with ... • 3. The Best Practices Of Determining A Budget Every company relies on accurate budget estimates in order to provide the correct amount of allocated dollars in a budget plan that the company develops. Most companies develop budgets that look at least two years into the future. Each company is different, however typically most expect their projected budgets to be within 10% less or 25% more of the projected budget (Schwalbe 281). In order to do this, managers must allocate project costs to individual work items over the lifetime of the project. Project managers will create a cost baseline (time phased budget) in order to measure and monitor the performance of their projects over the projects duration. Any changes or updates that are needed should be changed and reflected in a newly updated budget. Real time budget updates are vital in order to avoid financial problems. Ultimately, budgeting provides a prediction of the projects funding requirements. This article will go into detail about the best practices of determining a budget, and how they can be innovated for a better approach in the future. In his book, Tactical Issues Best Practice Solutions in Budgeting, Stephan Hunt discusses five focus areas that make up the best practice of determining a budget. These areas include: rolling forecasts, increased participation of operational owners, link detail to accountability, end user analysis, and driver based forecasting and budgeting (Hunt 3). First, this paper will explain why rolling forecasts are considered a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Junk Food Should Be Banned Junk food is currently banned from school to help decrease obesity, but it may turn out that it is doing more harm than good. Junk food is a favorite amongst students and the ban on it has affected students as well as the schools themselves. The ban on junk food should be repealed, mainly because students will get junk foodon their own, but the schools are also suffering from this ban, and finally, studies show that junk foodis not the only cause of obesity. The first reason why we need to take away the ban on junk food is kids will get junk food no matter what. According to Rosenthal, students at some open campus schools have made it a practice to walk to nearby mini marts and gas stations to buy the same products they used to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is saying that because the kids are being exposed to older kids then their choices are being affected by the older kids. The third reason for getting rid of the junk food ban is that schools are losing large amounts of money because kids will not buy the healthier snacks that are now provided by the school. Cary states that, Greenville County Schools says forced changes to its in school food vendors could cost it $1 million in sales this school year. This is saying that schools could lose up to $1 million because of the changes in vending options. Cary also says that the ban on junk food could affect the after school tutoring programs because of budget cuts. So because of the ban on junk food, students grades and success are being limited because of lack of funding from vending machines and snacks sold throughout and after the school day. Finally, Cary states, The ban has taken a bite out of fundraisers that sell cookies, candy bars, and popcorn. It also affects vendors who provide items for sale in schools. This states that the ban on junk food is also affecting fundraising activities and outside companies who will lose millions of dollars because they can no longer sell their products to the schools. Though the ban on junk food has affected schools and students in negative ways, it has also affected them in positive ways. Junk food was interfering with students actually eating a ... • 5. Character Analysis Of Esperanza Rising In the book Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan, Esperanza is the main character who is the protagonist. Esperanza is a thirteen year old child that has been faced with more tragic events from the age of nine to thirteen than some may experience their whole life time. Her character is very smart, determined, and compassionate just like some of the kids you may know. The author does a great job with allowing the reader to get inside Esperanza s head to understand her thinking and logic. The author uses Esperanza life to encourage children who may be going through some of the same experience, that they could make it through to. Although Esperanza is just a normal kid trying to have fun, the constant tragic events in her life forces her to mature instantly becoming a strong young adult. This paper will discuss how Esperanza grew up and some of Esperanza reactions that shows her growth in maturity, while exploring some of the conflicts Esperanza experienced that causes her to change her thinking. First, the book starts off telling the story of how Esperanza grew up in a loving wealthy family who owned El Rancho de las Rosas in Aguascalientes, Mexico. She was surrounded by generations of family members who loved her. The family had lots of servants who worked for them during the grape harvest season and they also helped them with everything else during the off season. Esperanza was a young girl who really didn t understand poverty and was known to have a snobbish attitude at times when she was little because of her family s wealth. She was surrounded by families that were just as wealthy as her own so poverty was not a norm in their community. There are many examples of her snobby ways in the beginning of book like when she first boarded a train in Mexico and realizes that she and her friend definitely wouldn t be traveling first class. Her reaction to this was basically like: You expect me to travel coach?! Yeah right. It was evident Esperanza did not use to a present lifestyle. Esperanza father was her biggest mentor and she followed his teachings very closely. After the death of her father, it was people like Abuelita, Mama, and Miguel that help keep Esperanza diva tude in check which helped keep her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Using Web 2.0, Facebook, And Diy Cultural Citizenship Essay Writing and Inquiry Assignment 2 Dylan Hannah.

Power to the people? web 2.0, Facebook ,and DIY cultural citizenship in Aotearoa New Zealand. By Ian Goodwin.

The aim of Ian Goodwin s article Power to the people? web 2.0, Facebook ,and DIY cultural citizenship in Aotearoa New Zealand is to fuel a more informed and critically diverse debate on the values of web 2.0as so far most of the conversation on this topic has been children s safety on the internet .The target audience is fairly wide however given that the article is from MediaNZ it is safe to assume that the principle demographic this is aimed toward Media Studies students ,and teachers. Goodwin uses a range of strategies to fuel the broader discussion on the values of web 2.0: Repeated words with the purpose of accustoming the audience to the words, Target audience as a strategy with the purpose to gain a more informed and critical discussion and structural placement with the purpose of highlighting the global and local importance of web 2.0.

The title is significant in revealing the authors intentions to make the article a debate rather than something with a correct ,or incorrect answer. The question mark is interesting because it is the first thing that the reader sees ,and it begins make them question what they already know and don t know about this topic. • 7. Warlord Rule and Sun Yat Sen s Inability to Achieve the... Warlord Rule and Sun Yat Sen s Inability to Achieve the Aims of the Three People s Principles I agree with the statement only to a small extent. The period of warlord rule was particularly chaotic in China. However, even when order was being restored again, the aims of the three people s principles were not all being achieved. Therefore, I feel that warlord rule is not the most important reason as to why Sun Yat Sen was unable to achieve the aims of the three people s principles. The three people s principles are the principle of nationalism, the principle of democracy and the principle of the people s well being. The first one is Sun Yat Sen s aim to unite the whole of China. As for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During this period, it was also a time of lawlessness. The warlords fought each other as they hoped to gain control over a larger territory. This brought about much suffering to the Chinese people. Sun Yat Sen s principle of democracy is not being upheld as these warlord ruled over their area like a dictator. These warlords exploited the people under them, like the peasants. Thus it is clear that Sun Yat Sen s principle s are not being achieved or even upheld. He, himself could not do anything as his party and government was still too weak. However, this period of warlord rule is not the only factor that prevented him from being unable to achieve his aims. Due to the disunity in his party, Kuomintang (KMT), he could not achieve the aims of his three principles. Before he can actually unite the whole country, he would need to unite his party members. He often met failure when he tried to reunite the country due to internal squabbles in his own party. They often argued over the third principle. Some party members wanted the land of the landlords to be taken away from them, and come under state ownership. However, there were others who disagreed. Therefore, this made it very difficult for Sun Yat Sen to get his party members to work together to achieve his aims. He soon realised he had to reorganize his movement again before he could actually topple warlord rule and unify ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Price of Unethical Behavior Essays The Price of Unethical Behavior The Price of Unethical Behavior Tyco International as a whole was no different any other company in that it contained a chief executive officer (CEO) that wanted to achieve success. But at some point that success turned into greed. Dennis Kozlowski began working for Tyco in 1975 and was named the CEO in 1992. Kozlowski had a reputation for being aggressive in his field and during his tenure at Tyco was named one of the Top 25 Managers of the Year and became one of the highest paid CEOs (Kaplan, 2009, p. 14). Along his rise to the top, Kozlowski became subjected to a lavish lifestyle of extravagant vacations, company jets and cars, and memberships. During this rise, he also treated himself to a... A fundamental component of [Social Learning Theory] SLT is the notion of vicarious or observational learning; individuals learn which behaviors are acceptable and/or unacceptable by observing and imitating others (O Fallon amp; Butterfield, 2012, p. 118). In the case of Tyco International, investigations stemming from the indictment of Kozlowski uncovered similar unethical behavior among many of the board members. Employees...are not likely to report the behavior to an authority figure, particularly if the peer is a friend (as cited in O Fallon amp; Butterfield, 2012, p. 117). Kozlowski handpicked individuals he trusted and placed them in key positions including Tyco s board of directors. These strategically placed individuals observed Kozlowski, the chief executive officer and friend to some, living a lavish lifestyle, and engaged in the same behavior whether they thought it was right or wrong. Kozlowski s unethical behavior did not happen over night, his actions became more prominent and confident over time. Gino and Bazerman (n.d.) found that people are more likely to accept the unethical behavior of others if the unethical behavior develops gradually over time than if it occurs abruptly (p. 711). What Is Lombroso Legacy Since offenders were more primitive, Lombroso said, they could be recognized by certain physical qualities, e.g. low, inclining temples; vast jaws; long arms; meaty lips; sneaky eyes. Lombroso s suspicion that specific individuals were more best in class developmentally than others tied in with his bigot conviction that specific gatherings of individuals specifically, those of European lineage were more best in class developmentally than different gatherings, for example, those from Africa. • 10. The Subtext Of Sonnet 130 By William Shakespeare In the 21st century, literature is imperative to societal development; and, as such, particular styles of writing appeal to diverse groups of people. Although traditional poetry is debatably obsolete within contemporary backgrounds, current writers and music artists still employ such methods. William Shakespeare, for instance, expertly composed a collection of 154 sonnets; their construction, themes and emotions still effectively pave direction for future literature. Constructed to communicate contrasting ideals of love, the first 126 texts are based upon stereotypical romantic embellishment, while the remaining 28 focus solely on the feeling of an emotional connection, rather than that of the physical. Sonnet 130, in particular, is clearly a parody of the conventional love story, in which Shakespeare creatively pays a pragmatic tribute to the dark lady . While implying that his love for her is unconditional despite describing her appearance rather viciously, the authentic subtext of Sonnet 130 heavily relies on language rather than generic poetic techniques, and positions readers differently based upon their status within society. During the Elizabethan era, Shakespeare had two major audiences with visibly dissimilar attitudes and morals, driven by that of the separation between the lower and upper classes. Sonnet 130, therefore, was intended to communicate independent readings of love based upon a particular social group and their interpretation. The noble born ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Analysis Of Drag Representations In Film As the semester comes to an end, there is so much I have learned about Drag as an art form, and the community that surrounds it. When I wrote my first journal entry, I talked about how I did not know much about the Drag community besides watching RuPaul s Drag Race and visiting different bars and clubs like the Parliament House and Pulse to see different Queens perform once in a while. After this course, I have learned about how the Drag community is quite diverse and experimental. A few of the topics that have changed my perspective on Drag, and the community were looking at Drag Representations in Film, Charles Busch, and Dragula. When first learning about Drag Representations in Film, I have seen the Hedwig and the Angry Inch film adaptation, as well as, Mrs. Doubtfire. I always knew that for the most part there were usually cisgender people representing transgender characters, but it never clicked that there has been almost no representation of legitimate transgender actors in film. There are some moments that we discussed during the course that had an impact on my opinion of the representation in film. While going through the slides, there was a moment where even though cisgender actors plays transgender characters, performers like Felicity Huffman made sure to at least mention the importance of the transgender community, whereas Jared Leto did not care to mention a word about the community. The Problem Of A Housing Crisis In order to prevent another housing crisis we must implement programs that would teach housing buyers and potential homeowners how to buy homes wisely because most potential homeowners are unsophisticated and do not know at what rate to buy homes and set personal guidelines for mortgages. The complexity of buying homes not only affected homeowners and home buyers but also confused sophisticated securities investors in that these securities investors sold MBS (Mortgage Backed Securities) at an excessive price range that the MBS should never had been sold at. We need legislative reforms that makes home mortgages to be more simplified and transparent market practices such as underwriting standards, in bonds or other security measures based on these mortgages. There must be oversight in terms of those originating mortgages and selling them, at an astronomical price. Unless legislature implement legal parameters that set the structural ground work for simplification we won t be able to stave off another mortgage crisis. Denmark for instance has set up simplified system of residential lending and finance with logical costs of capital to borrowing home buyers. With this agreement, money began to represent wealth in the goods and services. With money, people were able to expand their possessions creating a vaster amount of unequal possessions. Locke states that with the use of money, that by mutual consent men would take in exchange for the truly useful (22). This shows that men, whether they realized it or not, have consented to having more disproportionate and unequal possessions voluntarily when they agreed to use money. This was not something that was imposed on the people by stronger men; this is what the people agreed to. Another problem is when Locke states that there are unequal possessions with the use of money (23). Before the invention of money, one family might need more to survive as they have more members than another family. In this situation, there would not be equal possessions among the families. The family would still be obtaining property through labor and only taking what was needed; yet they would have more than the other family. This shows that there was inequality before money was ... Men were the accepted authorities in any relationship and held all the say. In the two stories, The Yellow Wallpaper , and Desiree s Baby , the female protagonists are portrayed as weak characters who are heavily dependent on their husbands for everything. Without the men in their lives, the women would be essentially helpless. But the authors of these two stores were nothing like their characters. They were both strong willed women who had a voice of their own and wanted to make sure it was heard. Thus, both authors used these stories to give feminisma voice. Feminism was a concept birthed and bred during the Progressive Era, and time when women s suffrage was at its peak. Women had gained the right to own property, own businesses, and some women even began working outside the home. Both stories, Desiree s Baby and The Yellow Wallpaper were written in the early 1890s, during this pinnacle time in women s right. The authors of both stories wrote their stories, either accidentally or on purpose, with the undertones of feminism, hoping to expose the unequal treatment and expectations of females to males. Both stories challenged the stereotypical roles of females, and in both, the females ended up being the one in power of their own destinies and overcame the rule of their dominant male counterpart. In terms of opportunities and threats, MillerCoors has several opportunities that it could capitalize on. The opportunities that stand out to me are the foreign market explosive growth, financial markets, innovation, and increasing the awareness of sustainability issues among consumers and employees. If MillerCoors took advantage of these opportunities, it would find great success in several different realms of the competitive market. As far as threats go, there are three main ones that face MillerCoors. The first one is the competition that the company faces, the second one is the overall falling beer consumption that is happening worldwide, and the third one is the growing popularity of microbreweries and craft beer. The rise of these monopolies and trusts worried many farmers because they felt that the disappearance of competition would lead to erratic and unreasonable price rises that would harm consumers. Oftentimes, these robber barons would prevent competitors from reaching the markets by restricting their ability to transport their goods. In Document E, James B. • 55. The Importance Of Minority Rights In America America is the number 1 nation in the world! is a common phrase we hear time and time again. American citizens, in my opinion, have a distorted view on how awesome our country is. America was founded on the idea of freedom at least freedom for white men at the time. While we have grown and made bounds for the rights of minoritieslike African Americans, Hispanics and women; there is still room to grow. This lack of representation harms minority youth because when they have grand dreams of changing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

France, United Kingdom, Russia was known as the Triple Entente before the war. However, they joined the World War and they all fought Austria Hungary and sided with Serbia and called themselves the Allied Power. Before the war, Austria Hungary was in an alliance called the Triple Alliance, and the alliance included the Germans and the Italians. Germany and Austria Hungary created the Central Powers along with the Ottoman Empire. The Italians did not side with the Central Powers and became neutral until they decided to betray the alliance and join the Allied Powers. During the beginning of the war, the Germans decided to play hard and decided to fight from not just one front, but two fronts. The Germans started to make deals with other countries, including signing the blank check in 1914 with the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
