The Threats of Cross-Site Request Forgery and Cross-Site...
One click; that is all it takes for hackers to steal the information they desire. As the Internet continues
to grow with new web applications, associated security threats also grow. Two of the most common,
and dangerous, threats to web applications are Cross Site Request Forgery (CSRF) and Cross Site
Scripting (CSS); in fact, both threats appear in the 2013 OWASP Top 10 list of critical security risks.
Understanding the threat of CSRF and CSS is essential to reducing the risk faced by users and
developers of web applications.
CSRF
Cross Site Request Forgery (CSRF) is an attack technique that exploits browser and HTTP
weaknesses to send unauthorized requests to a web server using end user credentials (Maes, Heyman,
Desmet, Joosen, 2009). Often, as a convenience, web applications will store end user information in
cookies managed by a browser; when a web application finds this data in the browser, it is assumed to
be coming from a trusted source (Maes, et al., 2009). This trust, however, is the main exploit of a
CSRF attack. Once a hacker gets access to an end user browser, any web application storing
credentials in the browser becomes vulnerable to attack (Maes, et al., 2009). This access is typically
gained through URL manipulation or injecting hidden form fields into a web page using Cross Site
Scripting.
CSS
Another attack exploiting trust is Cross Site Scripting (CSS). CSS works by adding malicious HTML,
JavaScript, or other client side scripts to a web application

Women Have Shaped Canadian History
Women have shaped Canadian History The proliferation of Canadian women s movements, notably
their redefining role in society, has had a profound propitious impact on Canada s identity in the
twentieth century. The contribution of Canadian women in the cultural life (sports, the arts and dance),
the political impact from the leadership role of a female perspective (Nellie McClung) and women s
economic empowerment all contribute to the shape of Canadian history. Our current Canadian
national identity has been shaped and developed by events from our past by our determination, doing
the impossible , staying dedicated and true. Also by doing what others thought we couldn t, proving
people wrong and being dedicated to our plans and outlines (Vimy Ridge). By gaining more
independence, freedom, equality, rights and responsibilities . By being compassionate, sticking to your
words and seeking for new rights (Pierre Trudeau). Even though there are so many past events that
have shaped and developed our Canadian national identity, negative things have also done the same
but in a negative way. We Canadians are proud of our accomplishments and achievements. We have
shaped and developed a great Canadian national identity from the past which we are still making. We
have made mistakes and we are still trying to mend those today. Overall our Canadian national
identity has been shaped and developed by events in our past by achieving our recognition and
milestones, the cultural life (sports,

Use Of Repetition In Cry The Beloved Country
English Essay
In the novel, Cry, The Beloved Country, the protagonist Reverend Stephen Kumalo, who lives in a
small valley in South Africa, must decide whether to find his family in Johannesburg. In the second
chapter of the book, a lot of his personality is revealed, from when a small child opens the door to give
him a letter, to when he decides he must leave to meet his family again. In order to develop the
character of Stephen Kumalo, Paton uses simile, imagery, repetition and metaphor to explain his
interactions with people, and how he reacts under certain conditions.
In the beginning of chapter two, Stephen is shown to be a very important figure in the village. When a
child knocks on the door of Kumalo, Paton uses simile to show how ... Show more content on

When he needs to use the money, saved up for their child Absalom, to visit his sick sister, Kumalo
replies, How can I use it? He said. This money was to send Absalom to St Chad s. Absalom will never
go now to St Chad s. How can you say that? How can you say such a thing? . Paton uses repetition of
the same question to show how Kumalo can be reluctant to face the facts about his child, who lives in
Johannesburg, and not being able to see him for a long time, which in turn implies his anger. During
his frustration for his family, his naivety is hinted at, when he thinks that his child is going to come
back or write a letter for him to use the money to go to St Chad s, when it is highly unlikely something
such as that would happen. When he realises that he needs to go to Johannesburg to visit his sick
sister, the author uses metaphor to show how hurt and sensitive he is. You have opened a door, and
because you have opened it, we must go through . The doors, representing the fact that he must leave
the tribe and go somewhere else, is something that he does not want to pass through, therefore he
blames it on his wife. He also blames his wife, because he realises what she says is true, which hurts
him the most, causing him to realise that he must go through anyway. Nonetheless, through his

Effective Use Of Sound In Citizen Kane
Citizen Kane may not be in color, but it once you get to the end of the movie you really see just how
black an white the movie really is. The amount of mystery that builds through out the movie is
amazing. At the end of the movie both the way they reveal the mystery and what the mysterious thing
is, is just stunning. That s why I rate this movie five out of five stars.
I give it such a high rating because is uses the color of the film amazingly and well as sound, then the
acting in this movie is very well done, and the story is great and how the director reveals the mystery
and how no one in the movie figures out what rosebud. Last but not least is the way sound is used in
the movie. Multiple times sound is a key aspects on what is

Comparing Goffman s Stigma And Social Identity
Stigma and Social Identity, is one of the chapters from a book called Stigma: Notes on the
Management of Spoiled Identity written by Erving Goffman that discuss in depth about stigma.
Firstly, in this chapter, Goffman discuss about the origins of the word stigma from the Greeks and
Christian perspective that tend to define stigma as bodily evidence of unusualness. Nowadays, the
word stigma is use to label disgrace rather than the bodily evidence of it. There are three types of
stigmas; physical defects, blemishes of individual character and tribal stigmata of race, color and
religion. All of these stigmas can deteriorate the claims of normality .
Besides, in this chapter, Goffman discuss on how people in a society tend to unconsciously ... Show

He saw stigma as a procedure based on social construction of identity. Besides, he also analyzed the
effects of stigma on people and even individuals. In this article it shows on how people who have been
stigmatized internalized the stigma that they had and how it can affects their behavior. Stigma can
cause many negative consequences that can lead people to engage in maladaptive behaviors that can
also lead to mental illnesses. It is really important for us to realize that every human is just human

Bench Press is one of the three work outs we will be...
Bench Press is one of the three work outs we will be discussing in the manual. Out of the three work
outs covered in this manual (performed at the PSU Abington gym) bench press, deadlift, and squat
bench press is the hardest to fully master. This work out will test upper body strength and power.
There are benefits from mastering or trying to master bench press: Bench press helps the upper body
gain muscle and get stronger. Finding a technique that works the best can make benching much easier
for the lifter. People who bench press with the wrong technique will lead to injuries. Injuries can take
time to heal, some people might take up to one week to heal. With the right instructions and technique
there will be no major injuries while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some reasons why injuries occur is because of poor positioning and poor training.
Some quick tips:
Improve bench press technique
Fix posture
Balance muscle
Neck: Make sure lower back and neck are supported properly. Avoid exercises that require arms to go
above the head. Strengthen upper back and improve posture when working out. Make sure to stop any
exercises that causes pain in the neck. Take frequent breaks when this happens and stretch frequently.
Some quick tips:
Stretch neck
Do not raise arms above head
Strengthen muscle around shoulder blade
Instructions for performing a Bench Press
While it is true that it is a great exercise, the bench press isn t the best choice for many lifters and,
unfortunately, the majority don t know how to actually perform it correctly (Smith). Some people do
not know how to bench press correctly. When it is done wrong then there will be serious injuries.
IMPORTANT: Always have a spotter when doing bench press. A spotter is someone who stands
behind and watches the person bench. They also make sure that the person is able to lift that much
amount of weight and if the person cannot lift that amount of weight then the spotter will help the
person. The spotter is there to make sure the person on the bench does not get stuck or fails to finish.
These instructions will help people fully understand how to bench press

Twelfth Night Trickster Quotes
In the play Twelfth Night , Shakespeare presents many tricksters. In fact, the majority of the characters
can somewhat be characterized as a trickster. Some characteristics that you would see in a trickster are
that they are intelligent, ambiguous, deceitful, and self serving. In the play Twelfth Night some
characters that you would classify as tricksters are Viola, Feste, Maria, Sir Toby Belch, and Sir
Andrew Aguecheek. Some tricksters are of higher class/rank while others are of lower class/servants.
In Twelfth Night , the tricksters are used to develop conflict, challenge social order, and create
comedy.
One of the most important tricksters of Twelfth Night would have to be Viola. After being

His character helped create the festive atmosphere with his singing and dancing and excessive
drinking. Sir Andrew is very fond of Olivia, however he knows that he doesn t have a chance. Sir
Toby keeps encouraging him to keep trying with Olivia but he s discouraged because he knows she
has feelings for Cesario. Sir Andrew is so moved by Olivia that he was willing to pick a sword fight
with Cesario but then backs down when Cesario is prepared and ready to go. Sir Andrew backing
down from the dual against Cesario goes to show that strength and masculinity can be masked, as
Cesario is really Viola in disguise. This is another example of how Sir Andrew s main purpose in the
story is just for the laughs. Aguecheek is one of the duller, unintelligent characters of Twelfth Night. It
s obvious Aguecheek isn t very smart because Maria mocks him without him noticing. An you part so,

Reflection On Human Sexuality
This class was, potentially, the most enlightening out of any of our classes this semester. I tend to
think about myself as incredibly open minded and well rounded when it comes to understanding the
different aspects of human sexuality, but this class showed me how little I truly know. Listening to this
class s guest speakers illuminated me to the depth of the BDSM community that I had previously been
blind to. While I had known some about BDSM from simply a fetish/paraphilia/technical standpoint, I
wasn t aware that it also denoted such a rich community. I suppose that I could have expected that
BDSM would have it s own community, but, since it is outside of my realm of sexuality, I was
simplistic in the way that I understood BDSM as only a fetish. My simplistic thinking is made worse
when I consider the fact that one of my closest friends was a professional submissive for a few years
prior to coming to Reno, but I never asked many questions because I felt that it would be too personal
or would show potential holes in my knowledge. This is why I am so glad that we had guest speakers
for this topic in class. When I was reading this chapter in the Lehmiller book, I found it to be
informative on a baseline knowledge level, but it definitely lost a lot of the depth and complexity of
the fetishes and paraphilia themselves, and particularly the people that practice these aspects of
sexuality. Having a guest speaker come in allows for the other students, as well as myself, to

Ancient Egypt Religion Essay
When we think of ancient civilizations the first one that normally stands out is Ancient Egypt. The
Egyptians were one of the very few that arose to civilization independently, and accomplished many
impressive things along the way. The Egyptian civilization stretched along the lower reaches of the
Nile River in Northeastern Africa. Religion was at the core of everything that the Egyptians were and
they stood firm for what they believed in. Their religion was based on polytheism, which was the
belief of many gods. The Egyptians had 2000 or more gods or goddess and each community would
worship their own deities (Ancient Egyptian Religion). As a result of their beliefs, the Pharaoh was
seen as the most powerful person in ancient Egypt and oversaw all state religious activity. What made
the Pharaoh so special was that the people recognized that he was human, and he was subject to
human weakness, but they still viewed him as a divine power of kingship (Religion). The Egyptians
believe that the pharaoh was half human and half god, and would work as an intermediary between the
Egyptian people and the gods (Religion). The Ancient Egyptians also believed that the pharaoh was
the sun god, god Horus. It was believed that when the pharaoh died he would be reunited with the sun,
and a new sun god would rule on Earth (Barrow, Mandy). Death and the afterlife played almost as an
important role in Ancient Egypt as religion. Death was not seen as a final stage of life, but as a

Quest For Meaning
Throughout the entirety of this course, I was able to truly think critically and deeply about faith, God,
death and meaning. This section of Logos was extremely meaningful for me because I think it is so
important to have faith in something higher in order to find true meaning in life. I choose to live my
life in a way that is significant for me because I do not want to depart this world without leaving
something behind. Legacy is important to me, but so is finding meaning within myself. The works we
read, watched and discussed guided and challenged my reflections so I could develop a clearer
understanding of my quest for meaning. After reading one of the very first readings, The Courage to
Be, I realized how influential death and meaning is on an individual s life. In the past, I always
thought those who feared death were focusing too much on the future and forgetting to live in the
present. I also thought it was senseless to fear death because it is inevitable. We are mortal beings: no
one is indestructible. Furthermore, I do not think I would want to live forever even if I was given the
opportunity; nonetheless, fearing death is a real issue. After reading about ontic anxiety, I developed a
more sympathetic understanding of this issue. Tillich s writing also expanded on my beliefs about fate
and death when he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

damnation and make it to Purgatory, I pictured what that might be like. I personally cannot imagine

Aristotle s meaning of justice is that of a man that does everything that is right lawfully and spiritually
becomes the noblest of all men. Justice is portrayed in a variety of different movies such as: The
Power Of One and To Kill A Mockingbird. The movie The Power Of One demonstrates more justice
when compared to the film To Kill A Mockingbird.
The first film, The Power Of One (TPO), establishes a theme of Peekay trying to help the black

How Did Andrew Carnegie Contribute To Power
Andrew Carnegie is the perfect example of a rags to riches story. Mr. Carnegie started out as an
extremely poor immigrant boy from Scotland. He slowly worked his way up in the world, picking up
random jobs and investing in different companies. Eventually, he took advantage of advancement in
the steel industry and virtually created a monopoly. This made Andrew Carnegie an extremely wealthy
man. His fortunes exceeded what would be 14 trillion dollars in todays currency (Graybar). Because
of Andrew Carnegie s extreme wealth, he was a very powerful person who used his power to benefit
mankind. Andrew Carnegie used the power he had in a very positive way. Carnegie often donated
money to different causes. For example, one of his goals from the time he was a young man was to
help in the accomplishment of world peace. So, after he sold his steel company for $480 million (or in
today s dollars, about 14 trillion dollars), he started attempting to complete his goal. Between the years

Wasted Time In High School
Emily Sellers
Composition 1301 332
Mrs. Kinkead
24 September 2017 Wasted time in High School
Public high schools tend to waste a lot of time in class doing things that aren t related to school at all.
It has been reported that in many schools, teachers make students do chores for them for extra credit
points, while others are learning new things. Jay Mathews wrote A startling waste of precious
classroom time, published in 2014 in the Washington Post, and he argues that so much time is wasted
in low income schools due to teachers and it makes it very difficult for students to learn in that
environment. Mathews begins to establish pathos by stating the names of two girls that go to Compton
High School and want to learn, but their school is unable to give them the education they desire.
Mathews established ethos a little later in his article by stating facts about programs he has
encountered with inner city schools; however, toward the end of his article, he uses facts to establish
logos, which is the appeal of logic, while stating that schools have been sued because low income
students have not been given the right education.
Mathews explains that Wasting time is common in the nation s low income schools. Class schedules
can be a mess at the beginning of the year, forcing students to wait days in the library for their
assignments (Mathews). Mathews establishes ethos through stating the facts of wasted time in low
income schools. Mathews states that at Compton High

Ancient Civilization
All ancient civilisations were very well developed. Discuss.
It is evident that most aspects of life in ancient civilisations were well developed. Many aspects of
society in Ancient Greece were very advanced. Ancient Egypt was a very advanced civilisation in
many different parts of life. Ancient Chinese culture, entertainment and architecture were all well
developed, as well as numerous other things.
Many aspects of Ancient Greek society were well developed. Ancient Greek religion was very
advanced, with many gods and goddesses. All the gods and goddesses represented, or were god of
something, for example, Poseidon was god of the sea, storms, earthquakes and horses. They had many
myths and legends about gods with morals to teach lessons and some to explain things, and some are
still told. To the Greeks, worshiping the gods was a part of daily life. Huge temples and structures
were built to honour the gods, which remain today. Architecture in ancient Greece was very advanced,
with many incredibly well built and designed buildings and sculptures, with some remaining to his
day. An aspect of Ancient Greek architecture that has continued to be used today is columns. Columns
were used in many structures, providing strength and stability. An example of a building from ancient
Greece that used columns is the Parthenon, a temple dedicated to the goddess Athena, which still
stands today. The ancient Greeks were the first known civilization to have a democracy, this shows

shove it in a corner, acting, and hoping that it did not exist. They were embracing it, and were helping
the cause. During WWI Broadway was teeming with servicemen. To help those coming to Broadway

What Is 11-Month-Old Child
Mommy, you are always on your computer!
Is it true that my children observe my passion for technology? Yes, it is correct. However, are they
accurate to conclude that using my electronic device consumes the 24 hours of my day? No, they are
not. The generalizing term, always, omits my other interests, responsibilities, and ways of living.
Therefore, I often coach my children to know the importance of several generalizing terms (all, none,
everyone, never, always), but to not allow those terms to exhaustively classify people or things into a
broad statement.
This same concept of generalizations, that I choose to focus on, impacts the analysis of human
development. For instance, research and theory that came from the middle class communities ... Show

Initial Counseling Session
The Initial Counseling Session When a client attends therapy there are various elements to this
process. All of them are required in order for the client to gain the most out of this experience. In
doing so, this kind of song and dance is created and maintained by the client and therapist. The nature
of this dance is imperative to the clients condition and most often their life, so the therapist must
decide which concepts are appropriate for the issues the client presented with for treatment. How do
we decide what the first and the last move will be? It all begins with an initial counseling session, the
client and therapist get to know each other and learn what is necessary in order for therapy to be
beneficial and effective. What is the initial counseling session? According to Corey (2016), the initial
counseling session is imperative and determines if the client will return to see you. It should be

The Emancipation Proclamation By President Abraham Lincoln
After the Civil War the Emancipation Proclamation was signed in 1863 by President Abraham
Lincoln. The first paragraph of the Emancipation Proclamation states, That on the first day of January,
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty three, all persons held as slaves within
any State or designated part of a State, the people whereof shall then be in rebellion against the United
States, shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free; and the Executive Government of the United
States, including the military and naval authority thereof, will recognize and maintain the freedom of
such persons, and will do no act or acts to repress such persons, or any of them, in any efforts they
may make for their actual freedom. These words to the African Americans were their saving grace.
This first section of the Emancipation Proclamation promises the freedom of African Americans
through the protection of the American Government and the United States military. This was the first
time this had been promised to African Americans because during the time of slavery all the protection
that they had was from their master, so the promise of protection from the American Government was
a step forward that many African Americans did not think that they would ever achieve.
Along with the Emancipation Proclamation came three Constitutional amendments. The very first
amendment added to the Constitution was the thirteenth amendment, and to fully understand the

Essay on Problems in Maintaining Biodiversity in the...
Problems in Maintaining Biodiversity in the Modern World
Biodiversity is the term used to describe the range of habitats and variety of species of animals and
plants within them. (2) The maintenance and increase of biodiversity is important to keep an
environment stable. If there is a loss of biodiversity then a population of a species will decrease and
can only breed with each other. However, as inbreeding takes place genetic defects are caused leading
to populations gradually becoming extinct. If this takes place soon most species in an environment
will die out creating less diverse habitats.
Problems arise with the maintenance of biodiversity when a balance needs to be reached with human

Grazing involves the introduction of grazing animals onto grassland, they eat tree seedlings so the
trees are not established. This means that the land does not develop in to woodland but remains as
grassland. However, overgrazing may take place after a period of time so desertification begins to take
place. This may be overcome by introducing a natural predator of the grazing animals.
Mowing of the grassland is another method used to maintain grassland. The point from where trees
grow, the apical meristem is above the mowing level. Therefore when mowing takes place the
seedling dies, grasses have meristems above mowing level so they remain undisturbed from the
mowing. When using this method as a control great care has to be taken, mowing cannot take place
too frequently otherwise this will lead to low biodiversity. If the grassland is mowed every six months
then there has been a sufficient amount of time for other plants to grow amongst the grass leading to
an increase in biodiversity.
Scrub clearance is used as a final alternative for maintaining biodiversity within grassland that has
already started to develop into woodland. Seedlings, bushes, bracken, bramble or any plant species
related to woodland are pulled out of the ground by their roots. This is a temporary measure to ensure
grassland is maintained.
As woodland is not as biologically

The Separation Of The Churches Of Eastern Orthodox And The...
What actually led to the separation of the churches of Eastern Orthodox and the Roman Catholic?
What are the many differences between these two churches? While there are very few similarities in
these two churches: the Roman Catholic church and the Eastern Orthodox church, there are mostly
differences; however, taking a closer look at the split in 1054 will help determine this and will give
insight as to just what those similarities and differences are, how they came about, and what may have
caused the spilt to happen. So what actually led to the split? Between the two churches there were
several disputes that had to do with theological and political differences. For example, the Investiture
Conflict, a clash that started between Pope Gregory VII (1073 85) and Emperor Henry IV (1084 1105)
over the investment of bishops with the symbols of their office. Who held what office and ruled over
whom, was the major dispute. The Roman Catholic pope claimed he held authority over all. In the
year 1054 everything was split from the stand points of theological and hierarchical structures and it
has not been the same since.
To begin, when it came to the theological similarities and differences there were definitely more
differences. First, the only similarity was the leadership that each one had. They had disputes over
everything else. Second, the church and the leaders in the Eastern Orthodox Church believed that all
popes were equal and there was no real focus or

Turning Points In Film History
When looking back on the Film history s turning points there are some few events that come to mind
such as the first edited film called Jazz Singer including the transition to sound or to the first feature
film that is presented in colour. Other also mention the use of deep focus from the film called Citizen
Kane While all these events completely revolutionize the development of films, there is one element
that is always overlooked when it comes to film which is the creative use of lighting. By exploiting the
significance of light and shadow Orson Welles Citizen Kane expressed a whole lot of meaning and
established a desired atmosphere which impacted the audience as well as the film genre in a lot of
ways.
Light and shadow was used by Orson Welles not as a requirement but to give certain scenes a meaning
and atmosphere. He used lighting in a meaningful way to make the viewers filled with emotions. Prior
to that moment movies conveyed it s messages from the screen to the audiences through the content
rather than how the film was shot. You can say that for Filmmaker Citizen Kane was the first one to
technically use filmmaking with combination of the content delivering to the audience what
filmmakers are trying to create. An example of a scene where light was use to show the meaning was

The International Whaling Regime Essay
The International Whaling Regime
In his article, Whale Mining, Whale Saving, Sidney Holt states, saving the whales is for millions of
people a crucial test of their political ability to halt environmental destruction (Holt 1985). In a world
where environmental issues are often so vast that solving them seems impossible, it is rare to
encounter a regime which successfully addresses these problems. If we judge a regime s effectiveness
by its ability to change the behavior of its members and possibly even encourage others to join, then
the whaling regime was in fact quite effective. The significant decrease in commercial whaling
brought about by the International Whaling Commission (IWC) s 1982 moratorium is proof in itself of
the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This stipulation proved important in the evolution of the IWC over time because as non whaling
nations began to join in the 1960s and 1970s, they increased the pressure on the IWC to turn its focus
from that of market regulation to a preservationist or conservationist standpoint (Andressen in
Implementation and effectiveness... 1998). But why would nations who did not participate in the
whaling industry want to join the IWC? One reason might be that IWC membership was an easy (and
cheap) way to improve their reputation as green minded without having to make any significant
changes in policy. Furthermore, the decades between the 1960s and 1980s saw an increase in the
number of NGO s taking on the cause of whale conservation which also drove the IWC to re evaluate
its goals and objectives. As a result, the IWC agreed upon a 10 year moratorium on commercial
whaling in1982 and put it into effect in 1986. The moratorium prohibited all commercial whaling, and
granted certain quotas to indigenous peoples who needed the whales for subsistence, and to scientific
research efforts. After the10 year period, it was decided that a Comprehensive Assessment would be
conducted and enough data would be collected in order to reconsider the moratorium.
The moratorium proved largely successful in that many stocks of larger whales such as the Bowhead
whale began

Midterm Patient Quality And Safety Paper
Midterm Patient Quality and Safety Paper Over time the health care industry has become more
complex. Health care is rapidly evolving and continuing to complicate our delivery of care, which in
turn has the same effect on quality of care. This steady evolution and change results in nursing
shortages and an increase in the prevalence of errors being made. In hopes of preventing these errors
and creating safe and high quality patient care, with the focus on new and improved ways of thinking,
The Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) initiative was developed. The QSEN focuses on
the following competencies: patient centered care, quality improvement, safety, and teamwork and
collaboration. Their initiatives work to prepare and develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that
are necessary to make improvements in the quality and safety of health care systems (Qsen.org, 2014).
Question One Patient Centered Care Patient centered care refers to the view that patients and their
family members are partners in developing a care plan. This stems from the belief that the patient is in
control and that the care provided is rooted in respect that addresses the patient s personal needs and

the goals and methods of their plan of care and includes them in the decision making process can

Individualism Vs Collectivism
When introduced to the concept of individualism, it is obvious by the name collectivism would be the
polar opposite of such a philosophy. Collectivism is essentially the concept people should be viewed
as a collective rather than individuals, hence the name. Collectivism is the root of what most citizens
deem to be a corrupt government. The idea can be summed up in Black Sabbath s song War Pigs, in
which lead singer John Ozzy Osbourne exclaims in reference to the government, treating people just
like pawns in chess . Governments opting to go the route of a collective view of their population tend
to be indifferent to the struggles of their people, often seeing them as ants, or as Geezer Butler
(Sabbath s main lyricist) puts it, pawns in chess. Whereas a nation would be viewed as millions, or
perhaps billions, of individuals according to individualism, they are seen as possessing one collective
body in the case of collectivism. Citizens are no more than statistics on a page (or in today s case, on a
screen) to the governing bodies conforming to collectivism, and as such are no longer human beings
whose feelings and opinions matter. Rather that accepting a mob rules mentality, these governments
choose to manipulate the people to be the collective they want them to be. A worthy modern example
would be North Korea, in which Kim Jong Un sees his people as a wave of biological matter. North
Koreans are forced to wear certain clothes, have certain haircuts, and essentially

Relationship between Athena and Odysseus By looking at the epic The Odyssey by Homer, there are a
lot of contacts between human and immoral, the relationship between Athena and Odysseus, which
make me interesting, also this is important for the story. The relationship between Athena and
Odysseus is the key for the story, because Odysseus had received a lot of help from Athena, their
relationship is the reason to explain why would an immortal Athena who never interesting or attracted
by any male either mortal or immortal, but only a human male, Odysseus, and helps Odysseus in
either direct and indirect ways to get back home and take average to all the suitor in order for
Odysseus to get back his family and his land. The beginning of ... Show more content on

Tell me the truth now, have I really reached the land I love? (368 373)Odysseus thinks Athena is lying
to him and is playing him as a fool; he wants Athena to tell him the truth. After Athena explains
Odysseus his son s situation, Odysseus had blame Athena again Why not tell him the truth? You know
it all. Or is he too like father. Like son condemned to hardship, roving over the barren salt sea while

his son Telemachus and let Telemachus knows that he has returned to Ithaca earlier, so Telemachus
doesn t need to have any hard time.
By looking that the contacts between Athena and Odysseus from their conversation, I can easily define
the personality of Athena and Odysseus. For Athena s personality basic on chapter thirteen, I can
define as helpful and lovely, she brave to love a guy who blinded her cousin Polyphemus (son of
Poseidon), she doesn t fear her uncle Poseidon to challenge Poseidon to help Odysseus to return home.
Also as a god of Greek she doesn t has the haughtiness of a god, she talks like a human kind. For
Odysseus s personality basic on chapter thirteen I would say he is a tricky man, who always want to

is helpful to have a clear understanding of its role in the past and how it emerged. The purpose of this
assignment is to outline the history of physical education since time immemorial. The text begins with
the beginning of the humankind engaging in physical activities, showing the history of physical

Social organization became more complex in the first villages, and then towns. Different kind of
chiefs appeared and gave rise to a political system. There was class system whereby society was
divided into rich and poor. A specialization of work took place. Apart from peasants and cattle
farmers, new economical activities such as craftsmanship (fabric, pottery) were born. This era in
history symbolizes the beginning of a more sedentary lifestyle, as man began to lessen some hardships
of life while simultaneously decreasing daily physical activity. ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS (2500
250 B.C.) (i) China In China, the participation of regular physical activity was encouraged by the
philosophical teachings. There were no such words in the Chinese vocabulary entirely corresponding
to the Western terms of sport and physical education . Such physical exercises as wrestling, swordplay,
archery, charioteering and horse racing were all incorporated in the military training and therefore
came under the general term of wuyi, or martial arts. Kung Fu gymnastics was developed to keep the
body in good and working condition. It consisted of various stances and movements, patterned by
separate foot works and imitations of different kind of animals fighting styles. (ii) India India has a
long recorded history of civilization but physical activity was not encouraged because of the religious
teachings over there. The teachings of Buddha restricted

Fish also play a large role in the celebrations. The word for fish, Yu sounds like the words both for and

Marina Abramovic Research Paper
Marina Abramovic and Ulay is often called the grandmother of performance art In 2005(?), after
parting ways with Ulay both romantically and artistically, Marina Abramovic started a new group of
work Seven Easy Piece. In this work she mostly reenacted performances both hers and other artists
(Marina Abramovic, Kristine Stiles, Klaus Biesenbach, Chrissie Iles). This decision shows Abramovic
desire to find herself a new voice by using those of others. Contrary to her past work she is not the
creator but the actor in those performances. The choice to reanact her piece Thomas Lips whom she
created before meeting Ulay is particularly interesting as it express the desire to trace back who she
was before her heavily emotional collaboration. Abramovic and Ulay s time together had indeed been
They were born on the same day (November 30th) and thus felt as if they had just found a long lost

young performance artists whom she hand picked and trained herself. This decision shows the artist
was ready not only to pass on the baton to a new generation of performance artists but also of creating
a final distance between the personal aspect of her relationship with Ulay and the work they created as
a pair. By having the work performed by someone else the personal story in which it was created
disappears to make way for a more literal interpretation of the piece. Her performances where then not
a story of her personal struggles but a exercise for people to try

A Thousand Acres Analysis
A gust of damp, hot air greeted my skin when I entered the room. The fan, in its futile effort to cool
the sweltering room, accomplished no purpose other than rustling the shrew pages of Moroccan
National News and causing the bed linen to shiver. I flung open to the first chapter of my summer
reading novel, A Thousand Acres. As I half heartedly scanned the pages, my gaze drifted over to the
servant girl working in the room. Beads of perspiration dipped unnoticed down her temples and the
scarf over her head clung wearily to her neck, only adding to the feeling of being suffocated by the
humid heat. The warmth did not seem to affect me as much as it did her, but then, I lounged beneath a
ceiling fan. She crouched low on the floor with a hand made broom of pine needles bound together by
a copper cord. Her expression appeared stoic and her movement robotic. For an instance her eyes rose

She and I shared the same thick, black hair, dark eyes, olive complexion. Full lips and even the slight
dimples on our right cheeks matched. But there were unavoidable differences. We both wore a shelver
and kamis, the typical garb of a Moroccan Muslim, but my attire was new and freshly laundered,
while hers was a shabby, threadbare hand me down. I reclined on a plush sofa in my grandfather s
home in Morocco, lolling in the relaxation and luxury of what I considered weep deserved summer
vacation from a rigorous academic schedule. Meanwhile, this young girl barely sixteen, labored as a
maid in my grandfather s house, a coveted and lucrative occupation for a girl from an impoverished
village. It struck me, she and I shared identical smiles nationalities and faiths, yet she stood on the
outside, longingly watching me seize the endless stream of opportunities that came my way. Sheer
circumstance separated this girl from

Barbaric Masculinity In Anthony Burgess A Clockwork Orange
A clockwork orange by Anthony Burgess is commonly(different verb) praised for shedding light on
Toxic masculinity even in 2018 when in fact perpetuates and even normalizes this toxic form of
masculinity. The form of barbaric violent masculinity alex portrays is just that, barbaric and violent to
men and women today. However a Clockwork orange almost inspires some to adopt this toxic
masculinity. Anthony Burgess tries to raise awareness for a reality he unknowingly inaugurates.
I cannot speak for the 1960 s or 1970 s when the book and movie were released, but in 2018 toxic
masculinity is neither common nor promoted in society. The type of masculinity promoted in modern
movies is a direct reflection of the values masculinity holds today.

  • 2. The Threats of Cross-Site Request Forgery and Cross-Site... One click; that is all it takes for hackers to steal the information they desire. As the Internet continues to grow with new web applications, associated security threats also grow. Two of the most common, and dangerous, threats to web applications are Cross Site Request Forgery (CSRF) and Cross Site Scripting (CSS); in fact, both threats appear in the 2013 OWASP Top 10 list of critical security risks. Understanding the threat of CSRF and CSS is essential to reducing the risk faced by users and developers of web applications. CSRF Cross Site Request Forgery (CSRF) is an attack technique that exploits browser and HTTP weaknesses to send unauthorized requests to a web server using end user credentials (Maes, Heyman, Desmet, Joosen, 2009). Often, as a convenience, web applications will store end user information in cookies managed by a browser; when a web application finds this data in the browser, it is assumed to be coming from a trusted source (Maes, et al., 2009). This trust, however, is the main exploit of a CSRF attack. Once a hacker gets access to an end user browser, any web application storing credentials in the browser becomes vulnerable to attack (Maes, et al., 2009). This access is typically gained through URL manipulation or injecting hidden form fields into a web page using Cross Site Scripting. CSS Another attack exploiting trust is Cross Site Scripting (CSS). CSS works by adding malicious HTML, JavaScript, or other client side scripts to a web application ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Women Have Shaped Canadian History Women have shaped Canadian History The proliferation of Canadian women s movements, notably their redefining role in society, has had a profound propitious impact on Canada s identity in the twentieth century. The contribution of Canadian women in the cultural life (sports, the arts and dance), the political impact from the leadership role of a female perspective (Nellie McClung) and women s economic empowerment all contribute to the shape of Canadian history. Our current Canadian national identity has been shaped and developed by events from our past by our determination, doing the impossible , staying dedicated and true. Also by doing what others thought we couldn t, proving people wrong and being dedicated to our plans and outlines (Vimy Ridge). By gaining more independence, freedom, equality, rights and responsibilities . By being compassionate, sticking to your words and seeking for new rights (Pierre Trudeau). Even though there are so many past events that have shaped and developed our Canadian national identity, negative things have also done the same but in a negative way. We Canadians are proud of our accomplishments and achievements. We have shaped and developed a great Canadian national identity from the past which we are still making. We have made mistakes and we are still trying to mend those today. Overall our Canadian national identity has been shaped and developed by events in our past by achieving our recognition and milestones, the cultural life (sports, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Use Of Repetition In Cry The Beloved Country English Essay In the novel, Cry, The Beloved Country, the protagonist Reverend Stephen Kumalo, who lives in a small valley in South Africa, must decide whether to find his family in Johannesburg. In the second chapter of the book, a lot of his personality is revealed, from when a small child opens the door to give him a letter, to when he decides he must leave to meet his family again. In order to develop the character of Stephen Kumalo, Paton uses simile, imagery, repetition and metaphor to explain his interactions with people, and how he reacts under certain conditions. In the beginning of chapter two, Stephen is shown to be a very important figure in the village. When a child knocks on the door of Kumalo, Paton uses simile to show how ... This money was to send Absalom to St Chad s. Absalom will never go now to St Chad s. How can you say that? How can you say such a thing? . Paton uses repetition of the same question to show how Kumalo can be reluctant to face the facts about his child, who lives in Johannesburg, and not being able to see him for a long time, which in turn implies his anger. During his frustration for his family, his naivety is hinted at, when he thinks that his child is going to come back or write a letter for him to use the money to go to St Chad s, when it is highly unlikely something such as that would happen. When he realises that he needs to go to Johannesburg to visit his sick sister, the author uses metaphor to show how hurt and sensitive he is. You have opened a door, and because you have opened it, we must go through . The doors, representing the fact that he must leave the tribe and go somewhere else, is something that he does not want to pass through, therefore he blames it on his wife. He also blames his wife, because he realises what she says is true, which hurts him the most, causing him to realise that he must go through anyway. Nonetheless, through his ... • 11. Reflection On Human Sexuality This class was, potentially, the most enlightening out of any of our classes this semester. I tend to think about myself as incredibly open minded and well rounded when it comes to understanding the different aspects of human sexuality, but this class showed me how little I truly know. Listening to this class s guest speakers illuminated me to the depth of the BDSM community that I had previously been blind to. While I had known some about BDSM from simply a fetish/paraphilia/technical standpoint, I wasn t aware that it also denoted such a rich community. I suppose that I could have expected that BDSM would have it s own community, but, since it is outside of my realm of sexuality, I was simplistic in the way that I understood BDSM as only a fetish. My simplistic thinking is made worse when I consider the fact that one of my closest friends was a professional submissive for a few years prior to coming to Reno, but I never asked many questions because I felt that it would be too personal or would show potential holes in my knowledge. This is why I am so glad that we had guest speakers for this topic in class. When I was reading this chapter in the Lehmiller book, I found it to be informative on a baseline knowledge level, but it definitely lost a lot of the depth and complexity of the fetishes and paraphilia themselves, and particularly the people that practice these aspects of sexuality. • 14. Ancient Egypt Religion Essay When we think of ancient civilizations the first one that normally stands out is Ancient Egypt. The Egyptians were one of the very few that arose to civilization independently, and accomplished many impressive things along the way. The Egyptian civilization stretched along the lower reaches of the Nile River in Northeastern Africa. Religion was at the core of everything that the Egyptians were and they stood firm for what they believed in. Their religion was based on polytheism, which was the belief of many gods. The Egyptians had 2000 or more gods or goddess and each community would worship their own deities (Ancient Egyptian Religion). As a result of their beliefs, the Pharaoh was seen as the most powerful person in ancient Egypt and oversaw all state religious activity. What made the Pharaoh so special was that the people recognized that he was human, and he was subject to human weakness, but they still viewed him as a divine power of kingship (Religion). The Egyptians believe that the pharaoh was half human and half god, and would work as an intermediary between the Egyptian people and the gods (Religion). The Ancient Egyptians also believed that the pharaoh was the sun god, god Horus. It was believed that when the pharaoh died he would be reunited with the sun, and a new sun god would rule on Earth (Barrow, Mandy). The works we read, watched and discussed guided and challenged my reflections so I could develop a clearer understanding of my quest for meaning. After reading one of the very first readings, The Courage to Be, I realized how influential death and meaning is on an individual s life. In the past, I always thought those who feared death were focusing too much on the future and forgetting to live in the present. I also thought it was senseless to fear death because it is inevitable. We are mortal beings: no one is indestructible. Furthermore, I do not think I would want to live forever even if I was given the opportunity; nonetheless, fearing death is a real issue. Wasted Time In High School Emily Sellers Composition 1301 332 Mrs. Kinkead 24 September 2017 Wasted time in High School Public high schools tend to waste a lot of time in class doing things that aren t related to school at all. It has been reported that in many schools, teachers make students do chores for them for extra credit points, while others are learning new things. Jay Mathews wrote A startling waste of precious classroom time, published in 2014 in the Washington Post, and he argues that so much time is wasted in low income schools due to teachers and it makes it very difficult for students to learn in that environment. Mathews begins to establish pathos by stating the names of two girls that go to Compton High School and want to learn, but their school is unable to give them the education they desire. Mathews established ethos a little later in his article by stating facts about programs he has encountered with inner city schools; however, toward the end of his article, he uses facts to establish logos, which is the appeal of logic, while stating that schools have been sued because low income students have not been given the right education. Mathews explains that Wasting time is common in the nation s low income schools. (1) Grazing involves the introduction of grazing animals onto grassland, they eat tree seedlings so the trees are not established. This means that the land does not develop in to woodland but remains as grassland. However, overgrazing may take place after a period of time so desertification begins to take place. This may be overcome by introducing a natural predator of the grazing animals. Mowing of the grassland is another method used to maintain grassland. The point from where trees grow, the apical meristem is above the mowing level. Therefore when mowing takes place the seedling dies, grasses have meristems above mowing level so they remain undisturbed from the mowing. When using this method as a control great care has to be taken, mowing cannot take place too frequently otherwise this will lead to low biodiversity. If the grassland is mowed every six months then there has been a sufficient amount of time for other plants to grow amongst the grass leading to an increase in biodiversity. Scrub clearance is used as a final alternative for maintaining biodiversity within grassland that has already started to develop into woodland. Seedlings, bushes, bracken, bramble or any plant species related to woodland are pulled out of the ground by their roots. This is a temporary measure to ensure grassland is maintained. • 29. The Separation Of The Churches Of Eastern Orthodox And The... What actually led to the separation of the churches of Eastern Orthodox and the Roman Catholic? What are the many differences between these two churches? While there are very few similarities in these two churches: the Roman Catholic church and the Eastern Orthodox church, there are mostly differences; however, taking a closer look at the split in 1054 will help determine this and will give insight as to just what those similarities and differences are, how they came about, and what may have caused the spilt to happen. So what actually led to the split? Between the two churches there were several disputes that had to do with theological and political differences. For example, the Investiture Conflict, a clash that started between Pope Gregory VII (1073 85) and Emperor Henry IV (1084 1105) over the investment of bishops with the symbols of their office. Who held what office and ruled over whom, was the major dispute. The Roman Catholic pope claimed he held authority over all. In the year 1054 everything was split from the stand points of theological and hierarchical structures and it has not been the same since. To begin, when it came to the theological similarities and differences there were definitely more differences. First, the only similarity was the leadership that each one had. They had disputes over everything else. Second, the church and the leaders in the Eastern Orthodox Church believed that all popes were equal and there was no real focus or ... By exploiting the significance of light and shadow Orson Welles Citizen Kane expressed a whole lot of meaning and established a desired atmosphere which impacted the audience as well as the film genre in a lot of ways. Light and shadow was used by Orson Welles not as a requirement but to give certain scenes a meaning and atmosphere. He used lighting in a meaningful way to make the viewers filled with emotions. Prior to that moment movies conveyed it s messages from the screen to the audiences through the content rather than how the film was shot. • 33. The International Whaling Regime Essay The International Whaling Regime In his article, Whale Mining, Whale Saving, Sidney Holt states, saving the whales is for millions of people a crucial test of their political ability to halt environmental destruction (Holt 1985). In a world where environmental issues are often so vast that solving them seems impossible, it is rare to encounter a regime which successfully addresses these problems. If we judge a regime s effectiveness by its ability to change the behavior of its members and possibly even encourage others to join, then the whaling regime was in fact quite effective. The significant decrease in commercial whaling brought about by the International Whaling Commission (IWC) s 1982 moratorium is proof in itself of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This stipulation proved important in the evolution of the IWC over time because as non whaling nations began to join in the 1960s and 1970s, they increased the pressure on the IWC to turn its focus from that of market regulation to a preservationist or conservationist standpoint (Andressen in Implementation and effectiveness... 1998). But why would nations who did not participate in the whaling industry want to join the IWC? One reason might be that IWC membership was an easy (and cheap) way to improve their reputation as green minded without having to make any significant changes in policy. Furthermore, the decades between the 1960s and 1980s saw an increase in the number of NGO s taking on the cause of whale conservation which also drove the IWC to re evaluate its goals and objectives. As a result, the IWC agreed upon a 10 year moratorium on commercial whaling in1982 and put it into effect in 1986. The moratorium prohibited all commercial whaling, and granted certain quotas to indigenous peoples who needed the whales for subsistence, and to scientific research efforts. After the10 year period, it was decided that a Comprehensive Assessment would be conducted and enough data would be collected in order to reconsider the moratorium. This steady evolution and change results in nursing shortages and an increase in the prevalence of errors being made. In hopes of preventing these errors and creating safe and high quality patient care, with the focus on new and improved ways of thinking, The Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) initiative was developed. • 39. Individualism Vs Collectivism When introduced to the concept of individualism, it is obvious by the name collectivism would be the polar opposite of such a philosophy. Collectivism is essentially the concept people should be viewed as a collective rather than individuals, hence the name. Collectivism is the root of what most citizens deem to be a corrupt government. The idea can be summed up in Black Sabbath s song War Pigs, in which lead singer John Ozzy Osbourne exclaims in reference to the government, treating people just like pawns in chess . Governments opting to go the route of a collective view of their population tend to be indifferent to the struggles of their people, often seeing them as ants, or as Geezer Butler (Sabbath s main lyricist) puts it, pawns in chess. Whereas a nation would be viewed as millions, or perhaps billions, of individuals according to individualism, they are seen as possessing one collective body in the case of collectivism. Citizens are no more than statistics on a page (or in today s case, on a screen) to the governing bodies conforming to collectivism, and as such are no longer human beings whose feelings and opinions matter. Rather that accepting a mob rules mentality, these governments choose to manipulate the people to be the collective they want them to be.
