WHAT IS INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH
• This is research into magazine distributers
• This helps determine who could want to publish the magazine , some company's may
focus on curtain genres of music others may want to have as many as possible or
widen the magazines they distribute to make money.
• I will look into magazine distributers who look into the intended genre of the
magazine I plan to create but others who may not have any magazines of the genre
and want to broaden there distributions as it could be a good decision for the
company.
• Many companies will distribute all kind’s of magazines this is why you need find one
which would be interested in your ideas and the intentions of your magazine
• I will look into distributers of similar magazines such as Kerrang which is a key
magazine to the research
KERRANG
• The distributor of kerrang is Bauer media
• This is a link to there website https://www.bauermedia.co.uk/
• The company owns and publishes a lot of things , there is a page called brands on there
website.
• This is a good publisher to look into as there is so many magazine and radios connected it
is very big and popular within the UK.
• Some examples are
– 4music , absolute radio, the box , kiss , kerrang and many more
• However because they already have kerrang they may not want another magazine which
will take readers away it might be more effective finding a company which has a gap here
as they will be more willing to take on new magazines or genres
THE BENEFITS
• There are many benefits for being part of a large publisher
 It is popular within the UK
 It can become multiplatform , like ;
 TV
 Radio
 Websites
 Tours and concerts ( kerrang 2016 tour )
 The distributor has a good reputation
 This is a positive influence for the magazine and if it is in association to a large distribution
company can look good for the magazine.
 It can be good advertisement
 The importance of things like frontline which do trade and distributes magazines from publishers
and share holders like the company bauer media
OTHER COMPANY'S
• It’s a good idea to look into other company's as they can also help the magazine they
could benefit the magazine more than a popular one as they might want to add more
genres to there distribution to widen there business and this could greatly benefit the
magazine
• They will be less scared of competition for there current magazines and would make a
new magazine a priority
• Has less competition for the new magazine within one distributor

I went onto Future publishing website and through browsing there magazines it seems
they have lots of different magazines which aren’t music magazines this means taking on
a music magazine could be a strategic business move as it would be expanding the types
of magazines, they have. This could attract a new audience along with new investment
and potential.
This could be a wise choice instead of a company which has a lot of magazines as part of
it.

WHAT IS INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH • This is research into magazine distributers • This helps determine who could want to publish the magazine , some company's may focus on curtain genres of music others may want to have as many as possible or widen the magazines they distribute to make money. • I will look into magazine distributers who look into the intended genre of the magazine I plan to create but others who may not have any magazines of the genre and want to broaden there distributions as it could be a good decision for the company. • Many companies will distribute all kind’s of magazines this is why you need find one which would be interested in your ideas and the intentions of your magazine • I will look into distributers of similar magazines such as Kerrang which is a key magazine to the research

KERRANG • The distributor of kerrang is Bauer media • This is a link to there website https://www.bauermedia.co.uk/ • The company owns and publishes a lot of things , there is a page called brands on there website. • This is a good publisher to look into as there is so many magazine and radios connected it is very big and popular within the UK. • Some examples are – 4music , absolute radio, the box , kiss , kerrang and many more • However because they already have kerrang they may not want another magazine which will take readers away it might be more effective finding a company which has a gap here as they will be more willing to take on new magazines or genres

THE BENEFITS • There are many benefits for being part of a large publisher  It is popular within the UK  It can become multiplatform , like ;  TV  Radio  Websites  Tours and concerts ( kerrang 2016 tour )  The distributor has a good reputation  This is a positive influence for the magazine and if it is in association to a large distribution company can look good for the magazine.  It can be good advertisement  The importance of things like frontline which do trade and distributes magazines from publishers and share holders like the company bauer media

OTHER COMPANY'S • It’s a good idea to look into other company's as they can also help the magazine they could benefit the magazine more than a popular one as they might want to add more genres to there distribution to widen there business and this could greatly benefit the magazine • They will be less scared of competition for there current magazines and would make a new magazine a priority • Has less competition for the new magazine within one distributor
