I think the company would sell my magazine as it contains
contemporary entertainment about chart music and artists. They
don't have any music magazines like mine as NME is a bit more
specialized towards indies. I think the genre of my magazine will be
appealing to a widespread audience from young adult to adult and
could be female orientated. The house style could appeal to men
and women but the content is female orientated. They sell
magazines like More, Bella and Heat who could also be potential
audience of Plugged-in magazine so the company will have some
idea of how to appeal to this audience, making the best people to
distribute my magazine. I could also help them bring in new wider
audiences.
The company has a good reputation as it doesn’t just distribute
magazines, it also owns radio stations, it is very popular and
distributes over 20 different magazines, some being specialised.
This is important in the distribution of my magazine as it will help it
get a good reputation.
As my magazine is quite mainstream I think it will want to distribute it
because it will be popular amongst more people.

5. • I think my magazine fits in well along side other magazines but
stands out in its own way
• I think it could definitely be distributed amongst the rest of these
magazines. It contains content that is typical to a music magazine
but also has its own special features like the background on the
skyline.
• My magazine accentuates features that appeal to my target
audience like the artists used, the image and font, and wouldn’t
have many competitors as it is not the ‘typical indie music
magazine’ it’s a bit of a wider range but targeting girls in particular.
• It is a new change to the magazine industry. The magazine that I
found remotely like mine is Rolling Stone which can be specialized
in some issues and then more widely ranged in others. Also Top Of
The Pops magazine is a chart music magazine but is for the younger
audience of about 12-14.
6. Distribution
• My magazine, in terms of distribution will be sold
directly to newsagents and supermarkets and
also petrol stations to make it easy for people to
acquire. I would also allow it to enter in to the
new era of web 2.0 and allow an online download
of the magazine at a slightly cheaper price as it
wont cost as much to produce (no cost of paper
and printing etc). They could also visit the
website for my magazine which also features on
the magazine front cover. Subscription to the
magazine would also be available, maybe issuing
a free gift when people do subscribe.
7. Advertisement
• My magazine will be advertised in a range of
different places like on TV, in other magazines,
on the radio and online.
• This targets a range of people and also
advertises when people are on the go and
even just sat in their home.
• The financial costs of this will be quite
extreme but if the magazine is advertised in
these places it will become popular. Also
Bauer Media’s reputation could help it sell.
