Curt Morgan Research Paper
According to Google Search, art is the expression or application of human creative skill and
imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be
appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power. This semester in aesthetic expression we
talked about art; the different forms of art and the meaning art has to each individual. For me, art is a
huge part of my life. I say this because I am a filmmaker, cinematographer, editor, graphic designer,
director, etc. In my industry art plays a pivotal roll each and every day. However, when people talk
about art on the daily, they always talk about a painting or a sculpture. I believe that no one really
thinks of film and or music as a piece of art, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Failure Of The Stalemate On The Western Front
The main theatre of fighting in World War One was on the Western Front. The Western Front was a
stretch of land weaving through France and Belgium from the Swiss Boarder to the North Sea. The
belligerents on the Western front consisted of the central powers, Austria Hungary and Germany pitted
against the Entente Powers. This involved the British empire, the Russian empire and the French with
the addition of the United States from 1917 onwards. The creation of the stalemate on the Western
Front is linked to a variety of reasons. These include the failure of the Schlieffen plan, The Battle of
the Marne, Plan 17 and the Race to the Sea and the defensiveness of weapons. Failure of the
Schlieffen Plan To a large extent the failure of the Schlieffen plan was the most significant reason for
the creation of the western front. The Schleiffen Plan was a defensive military strategy to deal with the
French and Russian forces , staunch allies, in order to avoid a war on two fronts. Which was not what
Germany wanted. This plan created by Von Schleiffen Outlined that troops being sent through
Belgium and the Netherlands whilst simultaneously having the bulk of troops travel down to defend
the Alsace Lorraine region which Germany had gained in the Franco Prussian war (1970). The troops
at Belgium would attack as a hammer swing effect for they would travel south and around Paris
capturing the city whilst the French forces were distracted. However, on the contrary

Essay On The Banking Concept Of Education
When it comes to the topic of education, most of us will readily agree that as students, we need to be
dedicated learners. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of how we should
be educated. Some are convinced that we need to stick with what is currently in place. From this
perspective, it is completely unnecessary to do something different if the method being used works.
However, others maintain that we need to change. According to this view, people need to move away
from what we are comfortable and familiar with in order to be better students. In sum, then, the issue
is whether we should keep how our education works the same or not. My own view is that we need to
change the system of education. Though I concede that sometimes it makes sense to keep what is not
broken, I still maintain that for a better learning experience, we must change. Although some argue
that what is already in place is enough for our education, I claim that stepping outside of our comfort

Freire describes that The banking concept of education, which serves the interests of oppression, is
also necrophilic. Based on a mechanistic, static, naturalistic, spatialized view of consciousness, it
transforms students into receiving objects. It attempts to control thinking and action, leads women and
men to adjust to the world, and inhibits their creative power (261). According to Freire, the banking
concept causes oppression. Under it, students are nothing more than objects that receive knowledge.
Therefore, it is necrophilic, treating the students as if they were dead and could not think. I think that
the banking concept of education restricts students and what they are capable of. Rather than actively
involving the students, the students are fed information from the teachers. The goal of education is for
the students to actually learn, and the only way that can be accomplished is through

The Ethics Of Commercial Privacy
The Ethics of Commercial Privacy
In The Right of Privacy, Richard Posner argues that, the law should in general accord private business
information greater protection than it accords personal information. Secrecy is an important method of
appropriating social benefits to the entrepreneur who creates them while in private life it is more likely
to conceal discreditable facts (404). However, his argument is flawed, because it dehumanizes
individuals, disregarding the value of their privacy in order to place the corporate world above their
needs and rights. Posner s claim rests on his economic analysis, which holds that a business has a
greater potential for economic efficiency than an individual if its information is kept private. And it is
crucial to this analysis that privacy and prying be regarded as intermediate goods means to an end
rather than ends in themselves. Indeed Posner believes that we use prying and then work to conceal
our own information so as to come out ahead. Thus he argues that prying into the private lives of
friends is motivated by rational considerations of self interest, for it gives us a more holistic sense of
what kinds of people our friends may be (395). Posner believes that idle curiosity does not exist, then,
because our reasons for seeking out information always serve some greater end. Even gossip columns,
in Posner s opinion, are not, as Warren and Brandeis assert, deplorable. Rather, we use the personal
lives of successful people to

Fraternities and Why They are Misunderstood Essay
Fraternities and Why They are Misunderstood
Fraternities have been a major part of student life at universities all over the world since the beginning
of the 20th century. For many students they have offered an improvement in social life, more friends,
opportunities for athletics, and a great sense of brotherhood. Unfortunately, since their beginning
fraternities have been questioned about their activities. Many people today think that they subject their
members to harmful acts better known as hazing. Massachusetts General law defines hazing as:
[A]ny conduct or method of initiation into any student organization, whether on public or private
property, which willfully or recklessly endangers the physical or mental health of any ... Show more

Fraternity issues like this one are very ugly and truly bring out the worst in everyone. I am completely
shocked that a lawyer would even take a case such as this one where a fraternity member is obviously
guilty. In another incident, university police have arrested three men on the charge of battery. Two of
the men alleged that they were hit on the buttocks 30 times with a 2 by 4, and another student said he
was hit approximately 10 times. The incident has raised numerous questions about the Omega Psi Phi
fraternity, according to campus officials. The event became public knowledge when Edward Pratt, the
dean of students spoke on the topic. Pratt summed the course of events as This incident is particularly
bad because it is part of a secret organization (Anderson). Pratt describes the situation as Underground
organizations feel more immune to regular laws and regulations and any kind of policing....They feel
they can violate peoples rights (Anderson). Pratt says many of the undergraduate pledges initially
would not speak about any of the incidences, because they were maintaining their code of secrecy
(Anderson). This code of honor is one of the main obstacles that investigators have to overcome when
trying to find the truth. What the school and the investigators have to understand is that no fraternity
member wants to be responsible for the possible end of their organization. This act of treason

The Evolution Of Multiple Women s Organizations
Multiple women s organizations formed in diverse communities throughout the country, each with a
different objective. The National Women s Organization focused on political, employment and
governmental equality (National Organization for Women, 1966). The Redstockings called for class
consciousness (Redstockings, 1969), attempting to break down class barriers to unify the cause. In
1975, a group of feminists opened A Women s Coffee House in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was
originally formed as a collective but evolved into a hub for the lesbian community, centering on sexual
oppression and the dominance of men (Enke, 2003). The Coffee House and other small local groups
became prime examples of the divisions within the feminist movement. The

Martin Luther King, The Southern Christian Leadership...
Under the leadership of Martin Luther King, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC),
bought the Black Civil Rights Movement and his desegregation concepts to Birmingham in 1963 for
several reasons. The most pivotal of these reasons being his African American racial status and his
Christian faith which drove him to fight for the rights his people deserved.
He believed that the most racial injustice lay not only in the Southern states of America but in
Birmingham, Alabama as expressed in his 1963 Letter from a Birmingham Jail, to fellow clergymen
who criticized his methods, King stating, I am in Birmingham because injustice is here. In
Birmingham, much like other Southern American States public facilities such as parks, movie theatres,
lunch bars, restaurants, and water fountains were segregated (African Americans had different, lesser
facilities than the Whites) which ultimately led King, SCLC, and ordinary African American citizens
to hold these non violent protests to have the desegregation they had sought after for many years.
His second reason to bring the Black Civil Rights Movement to Birmingham was due to their
Commissioner of Public Safety, Eugene Bull Connor. Connor was greatly opposed to the idea of
segregation and King knew Connor s reaction to the non violent movement he had proposed would be
one of violence and aggression. The town also had a history of extreme violence, not only towards
African Americans but nigger lovers alike. Examples

Critical Analysis Of Some Lessons From The Assembly Line
Has the author s goal changed with this analytical reading of the text? If so, how? If not, why not?
o As I reevaluate the article Some Lessons From the Assembly Line by Andrew Braaksma (2005), I
come to the same conclusions, and overall notes. I notice again, that transitions in life are never easy,
going from an assembly line, punching the clock, and then back to college life. I also took the feeling
that the Author s college life was quite lax in comparison to hit summer work life. Other points I came
across again was a lack of security within that field, not paying attention to repetitive tasks can cause
injury, and the value of an education. I can relate to the value to an education, as it allows you to get
into the door to vet one s abilities. Without education, experience can land you in the same position.
However, at the Author junction in life, many would not have the experience to be able to obtain
secure employment, and with that I felt lucky to have been able to have obtained the experience in the
service. With that, I value an education, and am now perusing that to achieve higher goals.
Additionally, I don t want to ever be in a dying field, that could disappear, or become outsourced.
2. Have you identified new key points that the author uses to try to achieve his or her goal in the
selected article? If so, include them here. If not, explain why the key points from your Writing Notes

Women should be aware about drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes while they are pregnant. At this time,
many women who are pregnant don t realized how dangerous it is consumed all of this things for their

because sometimes women don t know that they are pregnant until is too late. Maybe because they are
not aware or well informed not enough to know that what they are consuming is having such serious

Alcohol, drugs, and cigarettes are teratogens that will cause serious problems and defects in a child.
Unfortunately, teratogens and other harmful substances that the mother consumes not only affect the
baby but also affect her. During pregnancy, mothers are sometimes not aware or well informed enough
to know that what they are consuming is having such as serious effects on their baby, because
teratogens can leave some of the most serious birth defects. Information is very important for a mother
to understand completely what they should do during nine months of pregnancy. There are many
facilities that women can go to in order to receive more information about drugs, alcohol, and
smoking cigarettes and the wide ranging of effects that it has their babies. There are also many
facilities for treat if pregnancy women are addicted of drugs or alcohol. If women are informed about
the defects in children that is caused by alcohol and other drugs then will be less abnormalities in
infants. What the mothers consumes, the baby consumes as well too. The abnormalities and defects
mentioned above can be easily prevent if mothers are more responsibilities and take the proper
measures to become informed and are carefully with their unborn babies. If mothers are planning on

Lesson That Help Me
The Lesson That Helped Me More Than Anything A character in Norton Juster s The Phantom
Tollbooth was taught a something that they didn t was valuable at the time, but later in life found that
it was something that helped him. As we grow up we question a lot of the things that we are taught,
like how is it going to help us in the future. For me it was treating others the way you want to be
treated. To me I thought that we should treat others the way they treat us. My family tried to show me
that that wasn t the answer and that nothing is going to work if you don t know how to move on from
what they have done for you. Today I m in highschool and I can tell you that treating others the way
you want to be treated rather than treating them like they treated you is very important. People mature
and learn from their mistakes and often need to be accepted into a different group. Some kids don t
know where they want to be so they treat some people different than others. In elementary school I
was one of the kids that was bullied and was made fun because I was bigger than everyone else. It hurt
me that I wouldn t ever be able to fit in with all the popular groups. They just didn t accept me. It

Bromophenol Blue Experiment
The plot that is most linear according to the line of best fit is Figure 2, f(x) = 0.00310x 0.4269 with a
R^2 value of 0.9973. Comparatively, Figure 1 (zeroth reaction order) has a best fit line of f(x) =
0.00210(x) + 1.3426 with a R^2 value of 0.9094, and Figure 3 (second reaction order) has a best fit
line of f(x) = 0.00550x+0.2716 with a R^2 value of 0.9559. So, my data suggests that Figure 2, rate
law 1, is the most linear, and hence the correct order of reaction can be assumed first order with
respect to Bromophenol blue. Thus, the slope of Figure 2 s line is 0.00310 and therefore the k value

Also it is important to consider the spectrometers used in this lab, which had capped out above an
initial absorbance of 2 and higher in the lab, which skewed all future readings since it was impossible
to record from that value, which led to inaccurate readouts for the absorbance values. A major source
of error was that a different volumetric pipette was used to measure the initial absorbance and in Trial
1a than the micropipette used in the other four trials. Though both volumetric pipettes were 1 mL, the
possible miniscule differences between the two glassware could have created a significant difference
in the tiny volumes. The experiment could have been improved by use of a UV/Vis rather than a Spec,
which could improve the precision and accuracy of the measured absorbances and thus decrease the
uncertainty. Additionally, measuring the absorbances for a longer duration of time so that a significant
deviation from linearity could be observed could decrease the uncertainty in the reaction order with
respect to Bromophenol blue. The best alternative could involve measuring manipulated
concentrations directly against time instead of absorbance since the values would be in our control
instead of in the machine s control, which tended to show inevitable

The Effect Of Hho On An Internal Combustion Engine
What is the effect of HHO on an internal combustion engine
Introduction [200 words]
What is an internal combustion engine
Combustion, also known as rapid burning, is the basic chemical process of releasing energy from any
fuel and air mixture. In an internal combustion engine, the ignition and combustion of the fuel occurs
within each cylinder of the engine block. The engine then partially converts the energy from the
combustion to push the piston down. The engine consists of a fixed cylinder and a moving piston
(Springfield.mntm.org, 2017). The expanding combustion gases push the piston, which in turn rotates
the crankshaft. Ultimately, through a system of gears in the powertrain, this motion drives the vehicle
s wheels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These benefits include; environmental, money saving, longer lasting engines etc. HHO eliminates
harmful exhaust emissions that pollute the environment, meanwhile not contributing to global
warming (Drive60mpg.com, 2017). Within the experiments that I conducted, I discovered that
supplying HHO to an engine had created many new and different advantages, which provide better
outcomes.
How does it work? (the theory) [250 words]
How do the chemicals react?
When the HHO is fed into the air intake, then into a cylinder, the hydrogen explosion is so rapid, that
it achieves total combustion upwards of three times faster than a gasoline based explosion (Saisantosh
et al., 2017). This subsequently ignites the gasoline from all directions (For example, putting fuel on a
fire), instead of just a spark in one end of the combustion cylinder. Hydrogen behaves like this because
it has a very wide flammability range from 4% to 75% in air (Duncan, 2017) . Due to this there is a
release of energy in a short period of time, causing the mixture to get hot and greatly expand in
volume (Saisantosh et al., 2017). If the fuel is not fully burnt in that short amount of time then it just
goes out the exhaust and is lost. It is also best to ignite all of the gasoline when it is under maximum
compression in a combustion cylinder to get the maximum amount of energy out of it (this is a small
time window). Once the piston starts going down, the energy transfer from the explosion to the

The Basic Principle of Close Range Terrestrial Photogrammetry
The basic principle of close range (terrestrial) photogrammetry will be explained in this section.
Photogrammetry is the art and science of deriving accurate metric and descriptive information from
analog and digital images (Habib et al., 2006; Habib Ghanma Al Ruzouq Kim a; Ayman Paper A.F.
Habib, K.I. Bang, M. Aldelgawy). Wolf, 1983 defined the photogrammetry as the art, science and
technology of obtaining reliable information about physical objects and environment through the
process of recording, measuring and interpreting photographic images and patterns of electromagnetic
radiant imagery and other phenomena. It is obviously stated, in the definition, that photogrammetry
can be used 3D model of real objects for many areas of discipline such as geological and geotechnical
engineering, archeology, architecture, biomedical engineering, civil engineering, and environmental
science. Photogrammetry is non intrusive, cost effective, is ideal for recording data of a complex
nature, has high level of achievable accuracy, uses digital data which results in total flexibility across a
multitude of platforms, plus images may be catalog and compared over time. The 3D data from
imagery reconstructed through a photogrammetric triangulation (bundle adjustment) technique using
converging overlapping images from different viewpoints around the area of interest.
Photogrammetry can be divided into two categories: aerial and close range (terrestrial)
photogrammetry. Aerial photogrammetry

Due the Potsdam Declaration, Japan was required to revert back to the size of its empire prior to 1894,
subsequently forcing Japan to give up all of the territories they had acquired during World War 2,
(such as French Indochina, Burma, the Philippines, and parts of China) and even before World War 2
like Taiwan and Korea. Since the Korean Empire had dissolved after Japanese annexation, the new
Korea was left without a government. The United Nations decided that the best solution was to split
the Korean peninsula at the 38th parallel, put the Soviet Union in control of the North, the United
States in control of the South, and to hold free democratic elections in both areas. The idea behind this
was to set up a temporary government and eventually the two would merge. In the South, Syngman
Rhee was elected while in the North, the Soviets ignored the United Nation s plan, established a
communist state, and put Kim Il Sung in charge. (Young) The war had begun with North Korean
leader Kim Il Sung s desire to unify the peninsula under communist rule. Before WWII, the peninsula
had been one country (Han). You could say that the Korean War could have been predicted as in 1945,

The Civil War And The American War Essay
The war with the most death of Americans was not the World Wars, Cold War, Vietnam War or Korean
War, but the Civil War. The Civil War is one of the most monumental moments in the United States
that threaten the stability of the Union. The United States was split into two opposing sides, the Union
and the Confederates, with opposing ideas; Americans pinned against one another in combat for their
ideals and goals. The Civil War has multiple causes, but the most renowned reason was the
abolishment of slavery. With the conclusion of the Civil War and the defeat of the Confederates, many
efforts were made to establish the freedom of the slaves, such as the Thirteenth Amendment of the
Constitution, and the status of freedman. However, with the discontent that was harbored in the former
Confederates, white southerners [tried to] reestablished civil authority in the former Confederate states
in 1865 and 1866 ; this thus led to the creation of the Black Codes ( Black Codes. History.com). The
white southerners tried to regain control over freed slaves, acquire cheap labor and establish white
supremacy through the Black Codes. The Black Code was mocking the efforts of the civil war since it
recognized and limited the rights established in the civil war for the freed slaves, and recreated the
slave like working environment before the civil war.
Looking closely at the Black Codes, it was compiled with numerous laws that either granted or
restricted the rights of the freed slaves.

Nitrogen is used by plants in order to synthesize protein...
Nitrogen is used by plants in order to synthesize protein peptide bonds and for cell growth. Not only is
this nutrient required in the largest quantity by plants, but it is also the most frequently limiting factor
when it comes to productivity in crops. Plants cannot use nitrogen in the air and in the soil system it is
lost easily. Because of this plants are forced to obtain nitrogen in the form of nitrate and ammonium
from the soil. Too much nitrate can cause a negative effect on the plant including nitrate toxicity. High
levels of nitrate are not only bad for plants but can also be dangerous to animals or humans in their
presence. Here I discuss the scientific evidence of the effects of nitrate accumulation on plants and the

If the rate at which the nitrate is reduced is lower then uptake, then accumulation of large amounts of
nitrate can occur. No accumulation occurs when the rate of uptake equals the rate of reduction.
Accumulation of nitrate usually results from plant stress, such as drought, and is made more
prominent by excessive soil nitrogen. Other forms of plant stress that cause accumulation of nitrate
involve the restriction of plant growth while the absorption of nitrate from soil still continues. Some of
these forms include certain herbicides, frost, acid soils, deficiencies of essential nutrients, low growing

thinner more succulent leaf tissue, which increases moisture loss. Other effects include predisposing

Oxford University Importance
Oxford University is one of the oldest Universities in existence. It is located in Oxford England about
50 miles northwest of London and is the oldest University in England. Oxford University is important
because it is vital to not just people in England, but to the whole world at large. It has been first and
foremost in setting standards for teaching and learning. Oxford has been known for exceptional
communication skills which were needed in trade between countries and smaller entities for universal
progress among people. What can I say then, Oxford University helped lead the way to
progressiveness internationally and continuing to stand tall amongst the greatest and the best known of
its kind. Oxford is a university to be reckoned with .
The early school of Oxford was a gill, an organization of tradesmen whose chief purpose was to
control teaching by limiting the number of teachers. There are some indicators concerning the origin
of the institution. From all indications the masters elected one of their member as head officer and
gave him the title of chancellor. The head of the university bears this title. The students organized
themselves into groups much like modern college fraternities. Nevertheless there is a record of
lectures from other european countries at oxford as early as 1117. Between 1167 and 1168 foreign
students were expelled from the University of Paris after relations between england and paris broke
off . Consequently, many students from

Purpose And Symbolism Of The Leather Belt
The object that I chose to discuss is the Leather Belt. This object came from one of the most well
known Native American tribes in the United States, the Navajo. The Navajo tribe was, and currently
is, located within the four states of Arizona, Utah, New Mexico and Colorado also known as the Four
Corners of the southwestern United States. Many people in the region still speak the Navajo language,
as well as English. The Leather Belt was originally made of leather and strapped with eight silver
conchas, the Spanish word for shells. Some believe that the Native Americans stole this idea from the
Mexicans. Within each shell, there is a silver coin design that has been stamped onto the concha. In
order to attach the shells to the belt, each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the Mission was initially constructed, many people would depend on the Mission for food and
supplies. They would starve since they were always reliant on additional Missions and New Spain to
send them food. Not only were the living conditions hard at the Mission, but the rules were demanding
as well. The way of life at Mission Santa Barbara comprised of waking up at sunrise each morning for
great prayer then going to work on the Mission. Work was not equal for everyone. Men, women and
children were busy with their own jobs and those kept everyone busy throughout the day. Men would
mostly go through hard labor in the fields and take care of the crops that were being gathered, or
monitor the cattle. On the other hand, women and children classically remained inside the Mission and
finished routine chores. Everyone who lived in the Mission understood that they were likely to follow
the Father s schedule and lifestyle. Not everybody could withstand such a strict lifestyle based on
prayer and work; therefore, many individuals, particularly the Native Americans who were not
accustomed to this lifestyle, would try to escape from Mission

Historical Evolution And The Socio -economic Perspectives...
Intro
The aim of this report is to explore the historical evolution and the socio economic perspectives of
National Health Service (NHS) and Mental Health individuals. The report will explore the history as
far as early Nineteenth Century to the present day. The main focus will be on policies and legislation
influenced the foundation of NHS and how it has progressed to meet mental health individual s needs.
The report will also address the needs of individuals, resourced, stigma and discrimination for the
mental health individuals. Blakemore (2003) Blakemore further questioned social policies intention to
improve human welfare and to meet individual s biopsychosocial needs. Changes were not just
influenced by policies and legislation, they were also influenced by funding, organisation of the
service delivery and influential people who felt the need for change.
During the 19th and beginning of 20th centuries, there was an extension of amendments to the Poor
Law. The health service in the United Kingdom was provided by private care and charities. The 1834
Reform Act Law that focused on developing public health, local government, education and the health
services. In 1842 Edward Chadwick, from Poor Law Commission enquiry, recognised disease as a key
source to pauperism. In 1842, his Report identified sanitation as a primary key to illness and the
Public Health Act was established in 1848. The improvements of the conditions lead to the population
living longer. Nevertheless,

The Decision Making Of An Organization
The Decision making Continuum One of the manager s most important jobs is to determine the
outcome for a task. He has to decide on goals and provide assignments for employees to complete.
However, it is just as important for the manager to be clear about how decisions related to these goals
will be made. In leadership and management theory, decision making power can be examined using a
visual model called the decision making continuum or the Tannenbaum and Schmidt continuum. This
model shows how decisions can be made by the leader s authority or democratically from
subordinates. It is seen that as the team s freedom in the decision making increases, the manager s
authority decreases. On a smaller scale and at a personal level, this can be divided into administrative
and rational decision making. The former process involves satisfycing or simply using immediately
available information to make a solution one deems reasonably acceptable. This is primarily used to
make simpler decisions such as choosing an item at a fast food restaurant. The latter process involves
gathering as much information as possible and using it to make the best decision. It generally involves
larger decisions such as buying a motorcycle or choosing a spouse. It may also be a matter of
perspective. For example, someone who is very health and budget conscious may make a rational
decision even at a fast food restaurant, looking up calories, nutritional information, taste reviews and
prices to make

The Influence Of Rome On Today s Legal System
The Roman Empire was a vast and powerful one. Stretching from modern day Spain to the Middle
East, and reaching from Britain to the northern tips of Africa, this empire was certainly one of the
largest empires in history. Their strength was also evident in the fact that the Empire lasted over 500
years. Control of such a large area of land and the Mediterranean Sea allowed for the spread of their
Roman culture. Although the Roman Empire and Republic no longer exist today, the ideas and designs
of ancient Rome live on in our modern day art, law, engineering, languages, and literature. The largest
daily influence of Rome appears in the words people speak (Burgan, par. 19 and 20). Latin is
considered a dead language but its words are still ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the Renaissance, artists moved away from Christian ideas and turned to the topics from Greek
and Roman mythology to create their masterpieces. Just like the Romans did with their paintings and
mosaics, Renaissance artists began to paint images that would be seen on an ordinary day (Burgan par.
13). The Renaissance was greatly influenced by Roman artwork. Renaissance artists used techniques
and ideas from Roman art to create their own masterpieces. We still use Roman art today in teachings
and as an example of classical art. Lastly, ancient Roman engineering has still survived in the
technology of today s world. The engineering successes of Rome are still around today. We use the
technology designed by Romans to make some of our technology today. Some of the roads that the
Romans built are still standing today. Rome made many roads, bridges, stadia, public buildings, and
water supply systems that have founded the structure for the technological advances we make today (

The Civil Rights Act Of 1967 And The Age Discrimination
Module 3: Option #1 Employment Law
Introduction
Before the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of
1967 (ADEA), the only substantive protection from discrimination for United States citizens was the
14th Amendment, which states, equal protection of the laws. Seminal cases under this law include,
Brown v. Board of Education, and more recently, Bush v. Gore (Cornell University Law School,
2016). Despite the 14th Amendment, discrimination based on race, sex, and age went uncontested as it
was often difficult to prove and no specific protections existed. Hence, as part of the Civil Rights Act,
the creation of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) allowed federal law to
establish protected classes (The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration, 2016). As a
person who falls under the protected class of age, this paper focuses on age discrimination and the
potential ethical issues for employers involving this protected class. While most employers respect
and follow employment laws, age discrimination is more common than many realize and can be
devastating for the individual and financially problematic for the employer.
Age Discrimination It is somewhat surprising that employers continue to violate employment laws
dealing with discrimination. One case, Catterson v. Marymount Manhattan College, litigated and
settled in 2013, was especially egregious. According to the EEOC (2013), the college had refused,

The History Of The Library Profession
John Ambrosio (2013), reflecting on the history of the library profession, invokes Antonio Gramsci,
who said that a critical understanding of the self also requires the development of an ethical stance, a
set of values, principles, and virtues to guide one s moral conduct (Ambrosio, 2013, p. 328). Lacking
such ethics or praxis, librarians are vulnerable to the dominant political ideology. The way to
overcome paralysis is the consciousness of what one really is and knowing oneself. It begins with
taking an inventory of our historical formation with determining how we have been secretly imprinted
by history; how our language, thoughts and identities have been informed by various currents of
philosophical thought and cultural practices (Gramsci in Ambrosio, 2013, p. 328). By examining the
history of the library profession a history that conflates neutrality with equality and democracy, staffed
by a cadre of professionals who trace their beginnings to a theory of library economy it is easy to
imagine how neoliberal ideology found a home in the library.
Many theorists recognize the fact that librarians have the potential to make progressive reforms to
society (Raber, 2003, p. 47), if they would only break free of the contradictory theoretical
consciousness and hegemonic norms that hold them back from doing so by suggesting that they
should take no action (Bales Engle, 2012, p. 22). Louis Althusser (2009), in particular felt that
librarians had a social and moral

The Importance Of Camping With Small Children
Many people think taking a toddler camping is just asking for stress, headaches and complications.
Actually, your toddler can learn a lot at a young age from a trip into nature. Camping with small
children can be an entertaining experience while giving them the basic skills of life.
Surroundings
For toddlers, life is one huge learning experience. The simplest, most basic functions of the natural
world are fascinating and eye opening to them. Camping provides the opportunity to teach your
toddlers about nature and observing their surroundings. While sitting around the campsite, imagine
your toddler spotting a leaf falling from a tree and the fascination in their eyes as it slowly floats to the
ground. This is an opportunity to teach them about the different trees, leaves, plants and shrubs that
surround them.
Basic Survival Skills
Children are never too young to begin learning basic survival skills. Here s one that can be taught in
the form of a game. Bring some marbles in a bag that the toddler can carry. Other items can be used as
well, but stick with non edible ones for this lesson, or one of mother nature s little creatures may just
eat your lesson materials. Start at the edge of your campsite and choose a path into the woods that is
easy enough for them to walk with you. Have your toddler place marbles on the ground every couple
of feet to leave a trail to follow back to your site. Dropping and re discovering the marbles will not
only be a fun game, but will give

The Debt And Interest Of Student Loans
The amount of student loans that one accumulates throughout post secondary education can become a
heavy burden. In addition, the study conducted by Scheresberg, Lusardi, and Yakoboski (2014) show
that a surprising amount of students are not aware of the financial burden that they have acquired until
they are deep in debt and interest. They summarize that:
Overall, there is a notable mismatch among college educated Millennials between their perceived and
demonstrated levels of financial literacy, with the form exceeding the latter. They also have less
financial knowledge than might be expected given their educational attainment. On the other hand,
given that only 29 percent have received financial education through school or work, perhaps low
financial literacy is to be expected. This indicates a need for increased financial education, as
improved financial literacy would mean more informed financial decision making. (p. 18)
Most often, students sign up for loans without fully understanding the interest rates that come with
them. At the end of their post secondary education, students come to fully understand what financial
burden they have to pay off and they find themselves stuck with high interest rates.
The summation made by Scheresberg, Lusardi, and Yakoboski (2014) of Generation Y is that many
college educated Millennials have low financial literacy levels; many are not aware of their low
financial literacy; many have not received any formal financial

of friends for the moment. 1.3 Narrative Overview For using this platform, each user has to register as
a member. Users can set up a new account and choose to use their contact on Facebook to connect on
FitTrackr. However, they cannot login using their social media account such as Facebook or Twitter
with FitTrackr for the moment since Gemma and Todd prefer to maintain control of their users as
much as possible. Members can be creative on their profile but it might be better using their real name
so that their friend can easily find them. More importantly with privacy setting, the user profile and
diary entries will be public visible by default, if users choose to open up their profile only to the
friends on FitTrackr, in this case, user s activities can only be visible to the friends on FitTrackr.
Nevertheless, their setting can only be private to themselves, then no one could access their
information and data. The platform is not a fitness device, it is a social media fitness network which
allows users to share their physical fitness data. Users can estimate how much calories

Excuse #1: It s too risky to quit my job
This would have been a valid excuse 10 years back before we all witnessed the recession in 2008, but
not anymore. We all saw how millions of people lost their jobs and became unemployed overnight.
Job security is a myth. The biggest risk you can take in life is to hand over the steering wheel of your
life to your employer.
When you totally depend on your employer for your monthly salary, you are literally at the mercy of
the company. Even if you are one of the top performers in your company, there could be a lot of
external factors that can put your job at risk. The company s shares may go down in the stock market
due to some negative PR and they may have to downsize. The management policies of the company
may change due to their collaboration with a foreign partner. Or you may just end up fighting with
your boss over a trivial issue and get fired! Anything is possible.
On the other hand, if you are an entrepreneur, you take total control over your life.
You can set targets for your business and get the resources to achieve it. If you can see some great
opportunities coming up in your industry, you can take the action steps that can double or triple your
business. You need not wait for a pay raise! If you foresee some challenges in the market, you can
quickly take the necessary steps to diversify your portfolio and safeguard your

Before the conquest, nomadic tribes entered North America on the strip of land called the Beringa.
The paleo Indians were the first to set foot on the continent. However, because they did not

paleo Indians hunted large mammals which soon became scarce due to their growing population. They
soon adapted to eating smaller animals, fish, nuts and soon they learned to cultivate certain plants. The
native Americans also began to make ceramics. Agricultural revolution allowed for more complex

around 15.7 million adults age 18 or older in the U.S. had experienced at least one major depressive

Sexual Orientation Influence
The study of the development of sexual orientation has transformed greatly in the past few decades.
Beliefs such as homosexual attraction being a choice and homosexuality being the result of faulty
psychological development caused by sexual abuse and other troubling childhood experiences have
been labelled as prejudice, incorrect and have been discarded by most scientists. But what does cause
a person to develop one sexual orientation over another? The truth is that the exact causes for the
development of a particular sexual orientation have not been discovered yet. A lot of research has been
conducted to determine the influence of genetics, hormones, development, and social and cultural
influences. These studies have led many to believe that biology and environment play a complex role
in forming a person s sexual preference. This goes along with what has been discussed in class
regarding nature vs. nurture; what determines sexual orientation more than likely lies somewhere on
the spectrum between the two extremes of nature and nurture.
There is strong evidence of the role of genes in the determining of sexual orientation. ... Show more

sexual differentiation, namely testosterone and DHT (LeVay, 2011). Support for this comes from the
fact that the brain structures of homosexuals differ from their same sex heterosexual counterparts.

The Death Of A Master
Her only hope was her Master. She knew him well. He would eventually come to his senses, she
thought. It was his illness talking not the loving, kind man that helped everybody.
She positioned herself so that she could take a better look into her Master s eyes. She wanted to peer
into the soul of the man that had given her hope in God. She listened as he spoke.....
My eyes have seen all this, my ears have heard and understood it. What you know, I also know; I am
not inferior to you. But I desire to speak to the Almighty and to argue my case with God. You,
however, smear me with lies; you are worthless physicians, all of you! If only you would be altogether

Descriptive Essay On The Osprey
The Osprey
As I walked on a sandy path, I took a moment to admire the scenery. The mountains and their snow
capped tips looked so mighty and big, that I felt small and inconspicuous. The pine trees swayed back
and forth, and pronghorn pranced on the brilliant green grass. Everything seemed so beautiful. Bison
wallowed across the cold rocks as the geysers spouted hot water. It was an animal s paradise.I tried to
imagine the whole world being this peaceful and spectacular. The misty morning air tickled my face as
I started to strut down the path again.
I was in Yellowstone National Park and that morning my family had woken up very early. I kept my
eyes wide open just in case I could spot some wildlife out of the corner of my eye. Everything was
gorgeous, but now that our trip was coming to an end, I had seen almost everything, and quite frankly,
I was getting a little bored.
When I had arrived though everything was new and mysterious. It felt like a different world. There
were animals I had never seen before and things that would never have happened in California. I had
to see everything.
When I did though, I started to tap my feet and twiddle my thumbs. The same old misty air, big
mountains and bisons, was just not interesting more. Except I had not seen an osprey yet. It was like a
lightbulb went off in my head, a spark of imagination. Thinking about the past gave me ideas for the
future. If I just had the chance to see the bird, it would make our trip that much

This is however broken at the end of this verse as there is one bar added. Harmonically to do this the
final verse chord is turned into a V/IV allowing the chordal structure to smoothly transition from verse

Bridge 1:
As a result of the verse having a bar added to the end, the first phrase of both bridges have 5 bars thus
mimicking the lead in from verse to bridge making the song stable again. Harmonically the start and
the end of both bridges tonally are quite unstable. The bridge is an unusual 11 and a half measures

Melodically the main vocal tends to fall throughout the most part of the bridge, barely rising until the

Verse 3 has the addition of backing vocals in thirds. There is also the introduction of a stray backing
vocal as well. The stray vocal so let it out and let it in leads into the lyrical ideas found in the next

Bridge 2: Bridge 2 mirrors bridge 1 harmonically and musically with only slight variance in lyrics and
slightly more ornate lead vocals with more passing notes but still sticking to the diatonic Fmajor the

Women Are Cunning And Beast Like From The Waist They Are...
With a riotous appetite.
Down from the waist they are centaurs,
Though woman all above.
But to the girdle do the gods inherit;
Beneath is all the fiend s. There s hell, there s darkness [4.6.121 125]
Why call women centaurs? Aren t Centaurs male? This use of the word makes the passage lose all of
its intended meaning. To justify the use of this word, readers jump to the easy conclusion that Lear is
trying to say that women are cunning and beast like or that analyzing this may be going a little too
deep. But, if King Lear chooses to overlook the entire picture that surrounds centaurs, there will be
those who choose to question his choice of words and his credibility; which weakens his plea for pity
and tarnishes his image as the wronged father. By referring to his daughters as centaurs, he fails to
take the history and the entire construct of centaurs and creates a very distorted image, unintentionally
proving to himself and the audience that he is weakened, scared and undeserving of sympathy. With
the use of one word, he has tarnished his image as a king and a wronged protagonist on many levels.
To start, the history and etymology of the word needs to be taken into consideration. According to the
OED, a centaur referred to A member of a people of ancient Thessaly renowned for their skill with
horses . The OED also mentions that that the Greeks coined this term to refer to a partnership that was
not familiar to them; a partnership between man and horse that would become

The Born Free Usa Task Force
Recommendations The members of the Born Free USA Task Force have a common goal to provide a
solution to increase restrictions for exotic pet ownership, which allows for more responsible exotic pet
ownership and the decreased capacity of danger to the public. In addition, it will provide for more
safety precautions and ensure those exotic animals in captivity are provided for every day. The first
step in our process of analyzing the recommendations of exotic pet ownership in Missouri was
researching the current regulations in other states and what was working and not working in those
states. Currently, every state has varying regulations and within those states, many cities and counties
have assorted regulations as well. Based on the success of the drastic changes the state of Ohio has
made in the exotic animal ownership regulations, their platform for change is one to model. Ohio was
once a state with no restrictions on exotic animal ownership prior to the 2011 incidence of Terry
Thompson, who set free his exotic animal farm of fifty plus animals before committing suicide. This
incident pushed the already in question exotic pet ownership regulations into national limelight. Our
task force has researched the current restrictions and the process of implementing them along with the
undesirable potential side effects of these new laws. With this information, we were prepared to
present a solid foundation for the state of Missouri to create a new movement in the exotic pet

Stanley s Last Letter
Hello professor I hope you are in good spirits as you read this letter. The email you sent me regarding
my interruptions in class, lateness in class, and my interruptions in your class have been a wake up
call for me. I know I wrote an email apologizing but I felt that writing a letter would be the best way
to express my sincerest apologies. You made me realize that I haven t been putting as much of an
effort as I should in your class. I cannot afford to fail your class as that would cancel my scholarships
which would then stop me from attending college and would seriously affect my future and family. I
understand that the final grade I receive in your class is ultimately decided by you. I know you have
deducted 6 points from my course grades ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have adjusted my schedule to where you no longer have to worry about me being late to your class. I
have also decided to move away from people who distract me in your class and get to a place where I
can focus. I will continue to read the chapters and try to perform my highest on the assignments that
you give to us. I wanted you to know that I have learned from my mistakes and will not repeat it as
Winston Churchill stated Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. When the
semester first started I was striving for an A in your class but lost focus. I now am back on track and
though extra credit assignments and paying attention in your class I will continue to strive to get an A.
I want to thank you for taking out the time to read this letter and will be turning in my first extra credit
essay to you next class. My sincerest apologies for disrupting your class the other day and I hope you
see it in me to give me another shot at my goal of getting an A though hard work and hope you have a
great day ahead of

Civic Virtue
Civic virtue is morality or a standard of righteous behavior in relationship to a citizen s involvement in
society. An individual may exhibit civic virtue by voting.
For people that have civic virtue they contribute and help out our country for the greater good. They
also have to be selfless and caring to the citizens of their country. It is for them to do something that
benefits the country from ending a war to helping out a good cause or organization.
This selfless organization shows its civic virtue by giving toys to little kids in need at the hospital.
These kids are in the hospital to have brain injuries from various accidents. Now since the kids are in
the hospital they can not celebrate Christmas normally. By donating toys we can

Feminism and Art History
The history of mankind has often been captured in snapshots between the rise and fall of great leaders
and civilizations, by artists all with a common dream of portraying what they saw during their times.
Ideologies reflective of their societies were depicted through sculptures, frescoes, pottery, paintings,
and many other methods. Many of these principals were created, celebrated, and popularized by
constituents of societies where andocentric values were applied not only to social and political mores,
but also to the various art forms as the male body was cherished and praised and the female body was
hidden away from public view. The book Feminism and Art History: Questioning the Litany edited by
Norma Broude and Mary D. Garrad, strives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kampen concludes by discussing how the image of women portrayed the idealistic views of women as
caretakers who stayed at home , and works of art supported this by depicting women as
mythological or entertaining, or as an adjunct to the patron s own status; otherwise she might not
appear. (pg. 74) The author believes that the artists were in denial of the experiences of working
women and that s why the views of working women were limited. The visual portrayals of gender and
status in Roman society stand as a bridge linking the work of art and the work of society together as
one. The final chapter that I read was one I found extremely conflictant and interesting because not
only did we touch on some of these topics in class, but when I visited the Metropolitan Museum I
actually had some of the same issues with the works I saw there. Eve and Mary: Conflicting Images of
Medieval Woman by Henry Kraus, was by far one of the more fascinating chapters and discussed the
distorted views of women as vessels that the Devil could use to entrap a man and cause him to fall
from God s grace, during medieval times and reinforced by the Catholic Church. Monasteries were
places that men could go and abstain from worldly pleasures, proving their dedication to God and
refraining from anything that could cause them to sin either physically, emotionally, and especially
spiritually. During the fourteenth century,

What Is The Colligative Properties Of Salt Dissolved In Water
Colligative properties are those properties of solutions that depend on the number of dissolved
particles in solution, but not on the identities of the solutes. For example, the freezing point of salt
water is lower than that of pure water, due to the presence of the salt dissolved in the water. To a good
approximation, it does not matter whether the salt dissolved in water is sodium chloride or potassium
nitrate; if the molar amounts of solute are the same and the number of ions are the same, the freezing
points will be the same. For example, AlCl3 and K3PO4 would exhibit essentially the same colligative
properties, since each compound dissolves to produce four ions per formula unit. The four commonly
studied colligative properties are freezing point depression, boiling point elevation, vapor pressure
lowering, and osmotic pressure. Since these properties yield information on the number of solute
particles in solution, one can use them to obtain the molecular weight of the solute.
Freezing Point Depression
The presence of a solute lowers the freezing point of a solution relative to that of the pure solvent. For
example, pure water freezes at 0°C (32°F); if one dissolves 10 grams (0.35 ounces) of sodium chloride
(table salt) in 100 grams (3.53 ounces) of water, the freezing point goes down to −5.9°C (21.4°F). If
one uses sucrose (table sugar) instead of sodium chloride, 10 grams (0.35 ounces) in 100 grams (3.53
ounces) of water gives a solution with a freezing point of

  • 3. Failure Of The Stalemate On The Western Front The main theatre of fighting in World War One was on the Western Front. The Western Front was a stretch of land weaving through France and Belgium from the Swiss Boarder to the North Sea. The belligerents on the Western front consisted of the central powers, Austria Hungary and Germany pitted against the Entente Powers. This involved the British empire, the Russian empire and the French with the addition of the United States from 1917 onwards. The creation of the stalemate on the Western Front is linked to a variety of reasons. These include the failure of the Schlieffen plan, The Battle of the Marne, Plan 17 and the Race to the Sea and the defensiveness of weapons. Failure of the Schlieffen Plan To a large extent the failure of the Schlieffen plan was the most significant reason for the creation of the western front. The Schleiffen Plan was a defensive military strategy to deal with the French and Russian forces , staunch allies, in order to avoid a war on two fronts. Which was not what Germany wanted. This plan created by Von Schleiffen Outlined that troops being sent through Belgium and the Netherlands whilst simultaneously having the bulk of troops travel down to defend the Alsace Lorraine region which Germany had gained in the Franco Prussian war (1970). The troops at Belgium would attack as a hammer swing effect for they would travel south and around Paris capturing the city whilst the French forces were distracted. However, on the contrary ... • 4. Essay On The Banking Concept Of Education When it comes to the topic of education, most of us will readily agree that as students, we need to be dedicated learners. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of how we should be educated. Some are convinced that we need to stick with what is currently in place. From this perspective, it is completely unnecessary to do something different if the method being used works. However, others maintain that we need to change. According to this view, people need to move away from what we are comfortable and familiar with in order to be better students. In sum, then, the issue is whether we should keep how our education works the same or not. My own view is that we need to change the system of education. Though I concede that sometimes it makes sense to keep what is not broken, I still maintain that for a better learning experience, we must change. Although some argue that what is already in place is enough for our education, I claim that stepping outside of our comfort zone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Freire describes that The banking concept of education, which serves the interests of oppression, is also necrophilic. Based on a mechanistic, static, naturalistic, spatialized view of consciousness, it transforms students into receiving objects. It attempts to control thinking and action, leads women and men to adjust to the world, and inhibits their creative power (261). According to Freire, the banking concept causes oppression. Under it, students are nothing more than objects that receive knowledge. Therefore, it is necrophilic, treating the students as if they were dead and could not think. I think that the banking concept of education restricts students and what they are capable of. Rather than actively involving the students, the students are fed information from the teachers. • 5. The Ethics Of Commercial Privacy The Ethics of Commercial Privacy In The Right of Privacy, Richard Posner argues that, the law should in general accord private business information greater protection than it accords personal information. Secrecy is an important method of appropriating social benefits to the entrepreneur who creates them while in private life it is more likely to conceal discreditable facts (404). However, his argument is flawed, because it dehumanizes individuals, disregarding the value of their privacy in order to place the corporate world above their needs and rights. Posner s claim rests on his economic analysis, which holds that a business has a greater potential for economic efficiency than an individual if its information is kept private. And it is crucial to this analysis that privacy and prying be regarded as intermediate goods means to an end rather than ends in themselves. Indeed Posner believes that we use prying and then work to conceal our own information so as to come out ahead. Thus he argues that prying into the private lives of friends is motivated by rational considerations of self interest, for it gives us a more holistic sense of what kinds of people our friends may be (395). Posner believes that idle curiosity does not exist, then, because our reasons for seeking out information always serve some greater end. Even gossip columns, in Posner s opinion, are not, as Warren and Brandeis assert, deplorable. Rather, we use the personal lives of successful people to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Two of the men alleged that they were hit on the buttocks 30 times with a 2 by 4, and another student said he was hit approximately 10 times. The incident has raised numerous questions about the Omega Psi Phi fraternity, according to campus officials. The event became public knowledge when Edward Pratt, the dean of students spoke on the topic. Pratt summed the course of events as This incident is particularly bad because it is part of a secret organization (Anderson). Pratt describes the situation as Underground organizations feel more immune to regular laws and regulations and any kind of policing....They feel they can violate peoples rights (Anderson). Pratt says many of the undergraduate pledges initially would not speak about any of the incidences, because they were maintaining their code of secrecy (Anderson). Under the leadership of Martin Luther King, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), bought the Black Civil Rights Movement and his desegregation concepts to Birmingham in 1963 for several reasons. The most pivotal of these reasons being his African American racial status and his Christian faith which drove him to fight for the rights his people deserved. He believed that the most racial injustice lay not only in the Southern states of America but in Birmingham, Alabama as expressed in his 1963 Letter from a Birmingham Jail, to fellow clergymen who criticized his methods, King stating, I am in Birmingham because injustice is here. In Birmingham, much like other Southern American States public facilities such as parks, movie theatres, lunch bars, restaurants, and water fountains were segregated (African Americans had different, lesser facilities than the Whites) which ultimately led King, SCLC, and ordinary African American citizens to hold these non violent protests to have the desegregation they had sought after for many years. His second reason to bring the Black Civil Rights Movement to Birmingham was due to their Commissioner of Public Safety, Eugene Bull Connor. Connor was greatly opposed to the idea of segregation and King knew Connor s reaction to the non violent movement he had proposed would be one of violence and aggression. Though both volumetric pipettes were 1 mL, the possible miniscule differences between the two glassware could have created a significant difference in the tiny volumes. The experiment could have been improved by use of a UV/Vis rather than a Spec, which could improve the precision and accuracy of the measured absorbances and thus decrease the uncertainty. Additionally, measuring the absorbances for a longer duration of time so that a significant deviation from linearity could be observed could decrease the uncertainty in the reaction order with respect to Bromophenol blue. • 13. The Effect Of Hho On An Internal Combustion Engine What is the effect of HHO on an internal combustion engine Introduction [200 words] What is an internal combustion engine Combustion, also known as rapid burning, is the basic chemical process of releasing energy from any fuel and air mixture. In an internal combustion engine, the ignition and combustion of the fuel occurs within each cylinder of the engine block. The engine then partially converts the energy from the combustion to push the piston down. The engine consists of a fixed cylinder and a moving piston (Springfield.mntm.org, 2017). The expanding combustion gases push the piston, which in turn rotates the crankshaft. Ultimately, through a system of gears in the powertrain, this motion drives the vehicle s wheels ... Within the experiments that I conducted, I discovered that supplying HHO to an engine had created many new and different advantages, which provide better outcomes. How does it work? (the theory) [250 words] How do the chemicals react? When the HHO is fed into the air intake, then into a cylinder, the hydrogen explosion is so rapid, that it achieves total combustion upwards of three times faster than a gasoline based explosion (Saisantosh et al., 2017). This subsequently ignites the gasoline from all directions (For example, putting fuel on a fire), instead of just a spark in one end of the combustion cylinder. Hydrogen behaves like this because it has a very wide flammability range from 4% to 75% in air (Duncan, 2017) . Due to this there is a release of energy in a short period of time, causing the mixture to get hot and greatly expand in volume (Saisantosh et al., 2017). If the fuel is not fully burnt in that short amount of time then it just goes out the exhaust and is lost. It is also best to ignite all of the gasoline when it is under maximum compression in a combustion cylinder to get the maximum amount of energy out of it (this is a small time window). Once the piston starts going down, the energy transfer from the explosion to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Habib, K.I. Bang, M. Aldelgawy). Wolf, 1983 defined the photogrammetry as the art, science and technology of obtaining reliable information about physical objects and environment through the process of recording, measuring and interpreting photographic images and patterns of electromagnetic radiant imagery and other phenomena. It is obviously stated, in the definition, that photogrammetry can be used 3D model of real objects for many areas of discipline such as geological and geotechnical engineering, archeology, architecture, biomedical engineering, civil engineering, and environmental science. Photogrammetry is non intrusive, cost effective, is ideal for recording data of a complex nature, has high level of achievable accuracy, uses digital data which results in total flexibility across a multitude of platforms, plus images may be catalog and compared over time. The Civil War is one of the most monumental moments in the United States that threaten the stability of the Union. The United States was split into two opposing sides, the Union and the Confederates, with opposing ideas; Americans pinned against one another in combat for their ideals and goals. The Civil War has multiple causes, but the most renowned reason was the abolishment of slavery. With the conclusion of the Civil War and the defeat of the Confederates, many efforts were made to establish the freedom of the slaves, such as the Thirteenth Amendment of the Constitution, and the status of freedman. However, with the discontent that was harbored in the former Confederates, white southerners [tried to] reestablished civil authority in the former Confederate states in 1865 and 1866 ; this thus led to the creation of the Black Codes ( Black Codes. Not only is this nutrient required in the largest quantity by plants, but it is also the most frequently limiting factor when it comes to productivity in crops. Plants cannot use nitrogen in the air and in the soil system it is lost easily. Because of this plants are forced to obtain nitrogen in the form of nitrate and ammonium from the soil. Other forms of plant stress that cause accumulation of nitrate involve the restriction of plant growth while the absorption of nitrate from soil still continues. Some of these forms include certain herbicides, frost, acid soils, deficiencies of essential nutrients, low growing temperatures, and finally reduced sunlight. Due to the fact that nitrate accumulation builds up the most in plant stems instead of leaves. (3) Nitrate content in vegetables is influenced primarily by light intensity and nitrogen fertilization. There are some indicators concerning the origin of the institution. From all indications the masters elected one of their member as head officer and gave him the title of chancellor. The head of the university bears this title. The students organized themselves into groups much like modern college fraternities. Nevertheless there is a record of lectures from other european countries at oxford as early as 1117. • 22. Purpose And Symbolism Of The Leather Belt The object that I chose to discuss is the Leather Belt. This object came from one of the most well known Native American tribes in the United States, the Navajo. The Navajo tribe was, and currently is, located within the four states of Arizona, Utah, New Mexico and Colorado also known as the Four Corners of the southwestern United States. Many people in the region still speak the Navajo language, as well as English. The Leather Belt was originally made of leather and strapped with eight silver conchas, the Spanish word for shells. Some believe that the Native Americans stole this idea from the Mexicans. Within each shell, there is a silver coin design that has been stamped onto the concha. Men, women and children were busy with their own jobs and those kept everyone busy throughout the day. Men would mostly go through hard labor in the fields and take care of the crops that were being gathered, or monitor the cattle. On the other hand, women and children classically remained inside the Mission and finished routine chores. Everyone who lived in the Mission understood that they were likely to follow the Father s schedule and lifestyle. • 24. The Decision Making Of An Organization The Decision making Continuum One of the manager s most important jobs is to determine the outcome for a task. He has to decide on goals and provide assignments for employees to complete. However, it is just as important for the manager to be clear about how decisions related to these goals will be made. In leadership and management theory, decision making power can be examined using a visual model called the decision making continuum or the Tannenbaum and Schmidt continuum. This model shows how decisions can be made by the leader s authority or democratically from subordinates. It is seen that as the team s freedom in the decision making increases, the manager s authority decreases. On a smaller scale and at a personal level, this can be divided into administrative and rational decision making. The former process involves satisfycing or simply using immediately available information to make a solution one deems reasonably acceptable. This is primarily used to make simpler decisions such as choosing an item at a fast food restaurant. The latter process involves gathering as much information as possible and using it to make the best decision. It generally involves larger decisions such as buying a motorcycle or choosing a spouse. It may also be a matter of perspective. For example, someone who is very health and budget conscious may make a rational decision even at a fast food restaurant, looking up calories, nutritional information, taste reviews and prices to make ... • 25. The Influence Of Rome On Today s Legal System The Roman Empire was a vast and powerful one. Stretching from modern day Spain to the Middle East, and reaching from Britain to the northern tips of Africa, this empire was certainly one of the largest empires in history. Their strength was also evident in the fact that the Empire lasted over 500 years. Control of such a large area of land and the Mediterranean Sea allowed for the spread of their Roman culture. Although the Roman Empire and Republic no longer exist today, the ideas and designs of ancient Rome live on in our modern day art, law, engineering, languages, and literature. The largest daily influence of Rome appears in the words people speak (Burgan, par. 19 and 20). Latin is considered a dead language but its words are still ... • 26. The Civil Rights Act Of 1967 And The Age Discrimination Module 3: Option #1 Employment Law Introduction Before the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 (ADEA), the only substantive protection from discrimination for United States citizens was the 14th Amendment, which states, equal protection of the laws. Seminal cases under this law include, Brown v. Board of Education, and more recently, Bush v. Gore (Cornell University Law School, 2016). Despite the 14th Amendment, discrimination based on race, sex, and age went uncontested as it was often difficult to prove and no specific protections existed. Hence, as part of the Civil Rights Act, the creation of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) allowed federal law to establish protected classes (The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration, 2016). As a person who falls under the protected class of age, this paper focuses on age discrimination and the potential ethical issues for employers involving this protected class. While most employers respect and follow employment laws, age discrimination is more common than many realize and can be devastating for the individual and financially problematic for the employer. Age Discrimination It is somewhat surprising that employers continue to violate employment laws dealing with discrimination. One case, Catterson v. Marymount Manhattan College, litigated and settled in 2013, was especially egregious. According to the EEOC (2013), the college had refused, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. The History Of The Library Profession John Ambrosio (2013), reflecting on the history of the library profession, invokes Antonio Gramsci, who said that a critical understanding of the self also requires the development of an ethical stance, a set of values, principles, and virtues to guide one s moral conduct (Ambrosio, 2013, p. 328). Lacking such ethics or praxis, librarians are vulnerable to the dominant political ideology. The way to overcome paralysis is the consciousness of what one really is and knowing oneself. It begins with taking an inventory of our historical formation with determining how we have been secretly imprinted by history; how our language, thoughts and identities have been informed by various currents of philosophical thought and cultural practices (Gramsci in Ambrosio, 2013, p. 328). By examining the history of the library profession a history that conflates neutrality with equality and democracy, staffed by a cadre of professionals who trace their beginnings to a theory of library economy it is easy to imagine how neoliberal ideology found a home in the library. Many theorists recognize the fact that librarians have the potential to make progressive reforms to society (Raber, 2003, p. 47), if they would only break free of the contradictory theoretical consciousness and hegemonic norms that hold them back from doing so by suggesting that they should take no action (Bales Engle, 2012, p. 22). Surroundings For toddlers, life is one huge learning experience. The simplest, most basic functions of the natural world are fascinating and eye opening to them. Camping provides the opportunity to teach your toddlers about nature and observing their surroundings. While sitting around the campsite, imagine your toddler spotting a leaf falling from a tree and the fascination in their eyes as it slowly floats to the ground. This is an opportunity to teach them about the different trees, leaves, plants and shrubs that surround them. Basic Survival Skills Children are never too young to begin learning basic survival skills. Here s one that can be taught in the form of a game. Bring some marbles in a bag that the toddler can carry. Other items can be used as well, but stick with non edible ones for this lesson, or one of mother nature s little creatures may just eat your lesson materials. Start at the edge of your campsite and choose a path into the woods that is easy enough for them to walk with you. In addition, the study conducted by Scheresberg, Lusardi, and Yakoboski (2014) show that a surprising amount of students are not aware of the financial burden that they have acquired until they are deep in debt and interest. They summarize that: Overall, there is a notable mismatch among college educated Millennials between their perceived and demonstrated levels of financial literacy, with the form exceeding the latter. They also have less financial knowledge than might be expected given their educational attainment. On the other hand, given that only 29 percent have received financial education through school or work, perhaps low financial literacy is to be expected. This indicates a need for increased financial education, as improved financial literacy would mean more informed financial decision making. (p. 18) Most often, students sign up for loans without fully understanding the interest rates that come with them. At the end of their post secondary education, students come to fully understand what financial burden they have to pay off and they find themselves stuck with high interest rates. Beliefs such as homosexual attraction being a choice and homosexuality being the result of faulty psychological development caused by sexual abuse and other troubling childhood experiences have been labelled as prejudice, incorrect and have been discarded by most scientists. But what does cause a person to develop one sexual orientation over another? The truth is that the exact causes for the development of a particular sexual orientation have not been discovered yet. A lot of research has been conducted to determine the influence of genetics, hormones, development, and social and cultural influences. These studies have led many to believe that biology and environment play a complex role in forming a person s sexual preference. This goes along with what has been discussed in class regarding nature vs. nurture; what determines sexual orientation more than likely lies somewhere on the spectrum between the two extremes of nature and nurture. But to the girdle do the gods inherit; Beneath is all the fiend s. There s hell, there s darkness [4.6.121 125] Why call women centaurs? Aren t Centaurs male? This use of the word makes the passage lose all of its intended meaning. To justify the use of this word, readers jump to the easy conclusion that Lear is trying to say that women are cunning and beast like or that analyzing this may be going a little too deep. But, if King Lear chooses to overlook the entire picture that surrounds centaurs, there will be those who choose to question his choice of words and his credibility; which weakens his plea for pity and tarnishes his image as the wronged father. By referring to his daughters as centaurs, he fails to take the history and the entire construct of centaurs and creates a very distorted image, unintentionally proving to himself and the audience that he is weakened, scared and undeserving of sympathy. I have also decided to move away from people who distract me in your class and get to a place where I can focus. I will continue to read the chapters and try to perform my highest on the assignments that you give to us. I wanted you to know that I have learned from my mistakes and will not repeat it as Winston Churchill stated Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. When the semester first started I was striving for an A in your class but lost focus. I now am back on track and though extra credit assignments and paying attention in your class I will continue to strive to get an A. I want to thank you for taking out the time to read this letter and will be turning in my first extra credit essay to you next class. My sincerest apologies for disrupting your class the other day and I hope you see it in me to give me another shot at my goal of getting an A though hard work and hope you have a great day ahead of ... • 43. Civic Virtue Civic virtue is morality or a standard of righteous behavior in relationship to a citizen s involvement in society. An individual may exhibit civic virtue by voting. For people that have civic virtue they contribute and help out our country for the greater good. They also have to be selfless and caring to the citizens of their country. It is for them to do something that benefits the country from ending a war to helping out a good cause or organization. This selfless organization shows its civic virtue by giving toys to little kids in need at the hospital. These kids are in the hospital to have brain injuries from various accidents. Now since the kids are in the hospital they can not celebrate Christmas normally. By donating toys we can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Feminism and Art History The history of mankind has often been captured in snapshots between the rise and fall of great leaders and civilizations, by artists all with a common dream of portraying what they saw during their times. Ideologies reflective of their societies were depicted through sculptures, frescoes, pottery, paintings, and many other methods. Many of these principals were created, celebrated, and popularized by constituents of societies where andocentric values were applied not only to social and political mores, but also to the various art forms as the male body was cherished and praised and the female body was hidden away from public view. The book Feminism and Art History: Questioning the Litany edited by Norma Broude and Mary D. Garrad, strives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kampen concludes by discussing how the image of women portrayed the idealistic views of women as caretakers who stayed at home , and works of art supported this by depicting women as mythological or entertaining, or as an adjunct to the patron s own status; otherwise she might not appear. (pg. 74) The author believes that the artists were in denial of the experiences of working women and that s why the views of working women were limited. The visual portrayals of gender and status in Roman society stand as a bridge linking the work of art and the work of society together as one. The final chapter that I read was one I found extremely conflictant and interesting because not only did we touch on some of these topics in class, but when I visited the Metropolitan Museum I actually had some of the same issues with the works I saw there. Eve and Mary: Conflicting Images of Medieval Woman by Henry Kraus, was by far one of the more fascinating chapters and discussed the distorted views of women as vessels that the Devil could use to entrap a man and cause him to fall from God s grace, during medieval times and reinforced by the Catholic Church. Monasteries were places that men could go and abstain from worldly pleasures, proving their dedication to God and refraining from anything that could cause them to sin either physically, emotionally, and especially spiritually. During the fourteenth century, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Is The Colligative Properties Of Salt Dissolved In Water Colligative properties are those properties of solutions that depend on the number of dissolved particles in solution, but not on the identities of the solutes. For example, the freezing point of salt water is lower than that of pure water, due to the presence of the salt dissolved in the water. To a good approximation, it does not matter whether the salt dissolved in water is sodium chloride or potassium nitrate; if the molar amounts of solute are the same and the number of ions are the same, the freezing points will be the same. For example, AlCl3 and K3PO4 would exhibit essentially the same colligative properties, since each compound dissolves to produce four ions per formula unit. The four commonly studied colligative properties are freezing point depression, boiling point elevation, vapor pressure lowering, and osmotic pressure. Since these properties yield information on the number of solute particles in solution, one can use them to obtain the molecular weight of the solute. Freezing Point Depression The presence of a solute lowers the freezing point of a solution relative to that of the pure solvent. For example, pure water freezes at 0°C (32°F); if one dissolves 10 grams (0.35 ounces) of sodium chloride (table salt) in 100 grams (3.53 ounces) of water, the freezing point goes down to −5.9°C (21.4°F). If one uses sucrose (table sugar) instead of sodium chloride, 10 grams (0.35 ounces) in 100 grams (3.53 ounces) of water gives a solution with a freezing point of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
