Pike Place Market Landscape
Pike Place Market as a Cultural Landscape
Seattle s famous Pike Place Market has become a prominent symbol within the city over the past
century. The market is not only has significance to Seattle natives, but to the millions of people from
around the country as well as from around world that visit it each year. Over the years, many different
cultures have been imprinted on this market, thus making it the perfect example of a cultural
landscape.
From the the late 19th century to the early 20th century the city of Seattle saw a huge increase in
population. In just the ten years between 1890 and 1900 Seattle s population doubled to a total of
80,000 citizens. As more and more people began to settle in the Seattle area the demand for fresh ...

Rachel is a 550 pound bronze cast piggy bank that has been standing at the main entrance of the
Market since 1986. Over the years she has been considered to be Pikes Place Market s unofficial
mascot. Rachel was designed by local Seattle artist Georgia Gerber who modeled and named the
sculpture after a pig that was the 1977 Island County prize winner. In total Rachel has raised over
$200,000 dollars which has been used to support low income families who live in and around the
Market ( Rachel the Piggy Bank ). Over the past two or three decades the Pike Place has become a
commodity in and of itself. Although many still use it for its intended purpose of buying produce,
flowers or crafts, most venture down to the Market for the experience. Pike provides a very unique
experience that can t be found at any other farmer s market. From the

Siddhartha Journey
Siddhartha was determined to never go back to his life of wealth. Siddhartha approached the same
river where he met the ferryman years before. He saw the water as mirroring the emptiness within
him. About to slip into the water, the word Om emanated from his soul. Siddhartha realized that
destroying his body would not end his suffering. He fell asleep. Siddhartha woke up with a sense of
rebirth and repeats Om to himself. Then Siddhartha noticed Govinda but Govinda had not recognized
him. Govinda left to get back to being a monk.
Siddhartha was completely absorbed by the tranquil presence of the ferryman, as earlier he had been
by that of Gotama Buddha. Siddhartha saw his life s path reflected in the flow of the river. He realized

HarperLargePrint, 2004.
2. Literary Precis: In the novel One hundred years of solitude by Gabriel Marquez Garcia, he suggests
that our fate is written and inevitable. He supports this claim by showing multiple generations do the
same mistakes that their previous generation made. He also supports this by stating that the Buendia
family had there fate written all along and was not able to avoid it by any means. The author s purpose
of this novel is to entertain and inform the reader in order to get across that our fate is written down
even before we are born. The author uses an observational tone with his intellectually capable

What Are The Negative Effects Of Colonizing Australia
The Impact Britain had and a negative side and a positive but we can say that they had more of a

Hemineglect
Hemineglect also known as unilateral spatial neglect, hemispatial neglect, hemi inattention,
hemisensory, parietal neglect or spatial neglect (Kerkhoff, 2000), is a condition in which patients are
unable to attend and respond to the contralesional side of space (Dijkerman, Webling, ter Wal, Groet,
van Zandvoort, 2003). Hemineglect is characterized by the lack of spatial awareness, most commonly
on the left hemispace (Parton Malhotra Husain, 2004). The most common form of hemineglect, is that
of patients who have right hemisphere lesions commonly found to damage the where pathway, most
commonly after a stroke. These kinds of patients tend to neglect the left hand side of space (Driver

PA is considered to be a restitutional treatment approach as it facilitates the mechanisms of recovery.
In theory its main aim is to attempt to alter the damaged function within the brain, that allow for visual
attention. Prism Adaptation is a treatment introduced under the theoretical account of a
representational model of hemineglect. A representational model of hemineglect is a model in which
suggests that there certain brain functions that control both visual imaging and perception (Ogden,
2005). A representational model takes into account that the spatial representation of the patients
contralesional side of space is damaged or distorted (Pouget, Sejnowski, 2001). There is damage to the
way in which the patient internalizes a map of space in relation to where they are and what is around
them (Tilikete, et al., 2001). The method of prism adaptation is relatively simple. Although you cannot
control all the confounding variables, that underlie each individual patient, there is a standard
framework of how prism adaptation occurs. A procedure for a PA treatment begins with a pre test, to
establish a baseline performance; then an active exposure to prismatic goggles to produce an
adaptation in vision; and then lastly a post test to see if there is any after adaptation persistent after
using the goggles (Redding et al, 2005). An example of a PA treatment is through the works of
Rossetti et al. (1998). Rossetti and his team began with a series

Femininity In Antigone
The contrast between the female characters and the male characters within the aspect of masculinity
and femininity is of importance in the play Antigone. The play has been a topic of debate when
analyzing the rebellious female character, Antigone, and its role in society and its effect in the play.
Many contrasts between masculinity and femininity are encountered throughout the play. The constant
battle between gender and its role in society, makes the play of Antigone important to study to further
understand the play and how the Greek society used to be. Throughout the play, Homer, the author,
manages to portray the female characters as more masculine than the male characters through the
burial done by Antigone, Creon s cowardice, and the way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The burial of Polynices, Antigone s brother, is the most fundamental action done by Antigone in the
play because it shows her rebellion against Creon, the king of Thebes and her uncle. Through this
rebellious attitude, Antigone manages to portray certain masculine traits and creates a paradox as to
how she acts and how women were supposed to act in the Greek society. As Antigone said, Ismene, I
am going to bury him. Will you come? Ismene answered back, Bury him! You have just said the new
law forbids it... And Antigone responded, Creon is not enough to stand in my way. (lines 31 35)
Antigone decides to go against all authority and bury her brother, which was surprising in those times
that a woman could challenge a powerful male establishment. Once Antigone unveils her view of
going against her own king, the reader learns that Antigone believes it s more important to follow the
gods rules than those rules imposed by the king. Ismene said, They mean a great deal to me, but I have
no strength To break laws that were made for the public good. (lines 64 65) Homer manages to portrait

department of a business handles how the products will be sold and helping customers find a suitable
product for their needs. They organise sales promotions (or advertising), respond to customer
enquiries about their products, and negotiate discounts for customers; which enhances customer
satisfaction and keeping customer records up to date. E.g. Apple found that distributing their phones to
sell at other shops would broaden their market and create a lot of word of mouth which would be
essential to the growth of the business. The shops they distribute the phones to always try to find ways
to discount their customers which always creates customer satisfaction. Marketing Marketing is the
ways a business approaches a customer in order to persuade them to buy their products. Apple market
in various ways. They use TV adverts, billboards, catalogues and flyers which are all effective ways
on how to approach customers in order to sell products to them. This is effective as it keeps consumers
interested in a business s products and it asks customers on how the business how it could improve,
this could make consumers happier with the store. Finance The financial functional area in Apple

Examples Of The Ontological Argument
Does the Ontological Argument successfully show that God exists? Anselm s ontological argument is
a philosophical argument which aims to prove God s existence. The ontological argument is an
argument for God s existence based on reason alone. According to this argument, there is no need to
go out looking for physical evidence of God s existence; we can work out that he exists simply by
thinking about it logically. (Anon., 2004) Anselm s argument is a reductio argument, it seeks to
demonstrate that a statement is true by showing that an absurd result would follow from its denial. I
will be discussing three objections to Anselm s argument which I will reply to, namely: the perfect
island objection by Gaunilo; existence is not a predicate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Kant, existence is not a predicate/property that a thing can either possess or lack. He
claims that when people say that God exists they are not saying that there is a God who possesses the
property of existence. If that were the case, then when people say that God does not exist they would
be saying that there is a God and he lacks the property of existence. They would then both be
affirming and denying God s existence at the same time. Kant suggests that to say that something
exists is to say that the concept of that thing is exemplified in the world. For example, as long as there
is a Romeo who exists , there is also a Romeo . And, as long as there is a Romeo , there is also a
Romeo who exists . Adding exists has in effect added nothing. (Chapman, 2016) Kant claims that it is
impossible to compare a God that exists to a God that does not. They are both the same. A God that
exists is all powerful, all knowing and all loving. A God that does not exist is also all powerful, all
knowing and all loving. According to Kant, this shows that Anselm s ontological argument

Dead Poets Society Analysis
Dead Poets Society: The Escape for the Independent Minds
As a society we are groomed to be like everyone else, think like everyone else, and act like everyone
else. In 1959 American society, this idea was even more sought after. Even to the point of taking away
young men s freedoms in order to set them on the right career path for their lives. Until one professor
comes into the most highly thought of all boys preparatory school in America and gives these young
men a dose of what a free mind can truly do for one s spirit and soul.
On the first day all professors portray their very stern and unforgiving personalities towards their
classes and what must be done in order to be successful. However, the boys first interaction with Mr.
Keaton, the new english professor, is much less intimidating as he enters the room after the bell has
rung whistling a slight tune. He catches the boys off guard with his speech of how, as humans we are
just food for worms and we must seize the day every day in order to not miss our chance before our
body falls lifeless. Then further adds to his astonishing first impression on the boys by following Neil
Perry s reading of the Introduction to Poetry page by instructing the boys to rip this page completely
out of their text book. Then even more rip out the rest of the introduction and justifying that this book

The Vs. Mathematical Model
V. MATHEMATICAL MODEL Although there are differences between the architectures discussed so
far, they however have 3 similar duties they perform [16] namely; 1) Infrastructure maintenance of the
peer peer system: This task involves handling the periodic arrival and departure of peers to and from
the network. Prompt update of the indices of newly arriving peers and ensuring of connectivity among
peers is also important. 2) Query handling: This involves the use of efficient mechanisms for
propagating queries and returning responses. The target is effective search into the network with
minimum resource usage. 3) File transfer: This has to do with the reliability of the file transfer
between peers. In all the 3 architectures, once the requested file has been located, a direct connection
is set up between the two peers involved and the file download follows. These similarities and
differences are what have been captured by the mathematical model presented in [16]. To capture the
various characteristics, the peer peer system was modelled as a multiple class closed queueing
network [16]. Each class comprises of a fixed number of peers, represented by N= (N (1) .........N(c)),
where C represents the number of classes. Workload is generated by peers online when they generate
queries or download files, they also increase the service capacity of the system as more peers move
from off line

Francis Crick s First Impression
Francis Crick s first impression as per Watson s view, possessed a quick, penetrative mind and

Watson also attributed Crick with fast paced and loud converser and possessor of such a

this coalition between sketchy Watson and intrusive Crick alliance that obtained and used works of
many prominent scientists such as Chargaff, Donohue, Wilkins, Franklin yet failed to give proper

This process often wastes resources because short prison stays do not last long enough for offenders to
benefit from drug treatment and other rehabilitative programs. Moreover, housing low risk inmates
with high risk inmates reduces the likelihood that low level offenders rehabilitate and avoid crime
after release. This will save the State of Illinois Billions of dollars which could be used to services,
which could make a new taxpayer.
Discourage prison for low risk offenders: For low risk offenders, incarceration often isn t a cost
effective use of public resources. Work with judges explains at sentencing why incarceration, rather
than an alternative such as probation, is appropriate when a low level offender hasn t been on
probation previously, and has no history of violent crime.
Expand eligibility for programming credits: Giving inmates the chance to earn time off their sentences
by participating in rehabilitative programs encourages good conduct in prison, and increases the
likelihood that they ll succeed after release. All inmates should be eligible and encouraged to join
these programs, and receive certificates, and skills that might assist them with work in the

Observing A Right Hip Fracture Repair
Operating Room Observation Experience This past week, I was able to observe a right hip fracture
repair. The patient had broken his hip and was undergoing surgery to place screws and plates into his
hip. I was able to see the whole process through the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative
stages. The preoperative stage is when the patient comes to the OR and is being prepped for the
surgery. The patient is verified by the nurse, who needs to check patient identification, patient records
and make sure is calm for the surgery. Before this particular surgery, the anesthesiologist came down
before the surgery to administer a block to the patient. The block is to dull the nerve ending so when
the patients comes out of surgery he will be in less pain. The consent form is signed by two people, the
patient and the doctor performing the surgery. The consent form is the responsibility of the doctor, the
nurse just verifies that both the doctor and the patient signed the form. It is very common for a patient
to be anxious right before a major surgery. My patient didn t seem anxious but just wanted it to be
over and done with. One of the most important part of a nurse s job is to keep the patient calm and
relaxed. That can be accomplished just by talking to them and reassuring them. Keeping the patient
company will also ease their nerves. The nurse makes sure the patient is calm and relaxed right before
surgery. It is also important for the holding area nurse to make sure

John Galbraith Case Study
1. What needs to be re balanced in American society?
Galbraith believe that rebalancing the flow of goods and services with which our wealth each year
rewards us. In the rebalancing process, American society must remedy the poverty which afflicts
public services, those in particular that are unrelated to industrial production, that serve public
purposes rather than private. Through accepting the need to rebalance American society, the United
States can move towards eliminating the various social disorders plaguing domestic life. Galbraith
makes a compelling argument arguing that in order to stimulate demand for new automobiles,
manufactures must continue to innovate and remind the public of the need for these products. Here
Galbraith marks the stark divergence, where public services, schools, hospitals, roads and bridges, are
not updated and individuals in a society are not constantly reminded of the importance of balancing
public services.
2. What are the primary means for achieving this re balance?
Beginning, Galbraith notes a significant impediment to solving the imbalance between public and
private industry, which lies in public policy. Specifically, he stresses that political action for increased
spending on public services will not in turn solve the imbedded dearth of support for government ...

How To Read Literature Like a Professor Chapter 1: Every Trip Is a Quest (Except When It s Not) In

take a trip they take a quest. Structurally a quest has a quester, a place to go, a stated reason to go
there, challenges and trials en route, and a reason to go there. Quests usually involve characters such
as a knight, a dangerous road, a Holy Grail, a dragon, an evil knight, and a princess. The quest also
involves the character to gain self knowledge out of taking the adventure to the stated place where he

Specific injury causes characters to visit on one another or on themselves. Narrative violence cause
the characters to cause harm in general. Chapter 12: Is That a Symbol? Chapter 12 is about
symbolism. The author says that not everybody will think a symbol will mean the same thing and it

let you use your own imagination. Chapter 13: It s All Political Chapter 13 was about how most
writing is political. It was about how writers secretly put their political point of views into their

nearly all writing is political on some level. Chapter 14: Yes, She s a Christ Figure, Too Chapter 14 is

Historical Perspective Of Django Unchained And Butch...
Ricardo Godinez
Professor Dew
History of Film
November 21, 2017
Wild, Wild West
Intro
Historical Perspective Both films were made for different reasons and made different impacts during
their time of release. For Django Unchained, the film showed the horror of slavery before the civil
war. Showing slaves being eaten by dogs to slaves fighting to the death, makes an unconventional film
for its time and raised a lot of controversy considering the movies historical accuracy. The horror of
slavery is in the dehumanization that slave owners create and the effects placed upon the slave of
having to do whatever is necessary to survive, including killing. The memory of slavery is revisited
and reminds the United States of its shame during the time of the film. Butch Cassidy and the
Sundance Kid is a revisionist western that pays homage to old western movies. Since Westerns were
outdated in the late 60 s, this revised western film is created with New Hollywood elements including
an unhappy ending and film using rock/pop soundtracks to attract the youth.
Theme
Both Django Unchained and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid share a common theme of freedom.
In Django Unchained, there are multiple layers of freedom shown that a man and woman is able to
obtain in life. Django is released from chains of oppression, then is given the right to choose his
costume. After his task with Dr. Schultz, he is given his freedom. Dr. Schultz has a greater

Is King Lear A Tragic Hero Essay
King Lear, one of William Shakespeare s greatest tragedies, depicts a society in grim circumstances.
As with all tragedies, there exists a tragic hero [1] , one who possesses a fatal flaw that initiates the
tragedy and all the sufferings that follow. In this play, the tragic hero is undoubtedly the title character,
King Lear. The plot is driven by the power and consequence of losses, more specifically, the losses of
Lear. In the course the play, King Lear, because of his flaws, loses his authority as a king, his identity

Furthermore, Lear is infuriated when Kent objects and protests to his decision: Thy youngest daughter
does not love thee least, / Nor are those emptyhearted whose low sounds / Reverb no hollowness
(I.i.153 155). This fatal flaw of insecurity and egotism induces Lear to make error in his judgment,
resulting in the improper division of his kingdom and the loss of his two most loyal companions
Cordelia and Kent. The consequences of this error build up throughout the play, leading to Lear s
ultimate tragic fall.
Lear s lost royal authority now transfers to his two daughters, Goneril and Regan, and they deceitfully
use this power against him. Ironically, Lear also falls in status, to a level inferior to that of his own
children. Goneril no longer loves him beyond all manner and Regan no longer is an enemy to all other
joys as they have professed in the beginning (I.i. 61, 73). Instead, Goneril reprimands his father for the
way his servants and knights have infected her home (I.iv.237). Regan follows suit, and insist that The
old man and his people/ Cannot be well bestowed (II.iv.258). His daughters no longer even respect
him. Lear has now lost his identity as a father, since he even confesses that [He] should be false
persuaded / [He] had daughters (I.iv.227 228). Troubled and confused, Lear reveals his weakened
sense of identity when asking Who is it that can tell me who I am (I.iv.224). Stripped of authority as

Security in the Middle East
S11702992 Word count: 2864
This Essay will attempt to evaluate and discuss the belief that the USA and Europe needs a stable Iran
to promote security in the Middle East, but not a nuclear Iran. Firstly, this essay will address Iran s
current status and role in the Middle East, and how Iran is rising to become a regional power. It will
explore the current Iranian regime, and address how politics and policy are being influenced, under the
Ayatollah s leadership. It will also address how radical Islam is currently growing in the Middle East,
how religion has come to the forefront of politics, and what that means for the West. Secondly, this
essay will offer some thoughts on the dangers of a nuclear Iran, which could either create greater
insecurity, due to Iran s motives and objectives for wanting to acquire them, or it could offer possible
benefits of balancing power with Israel, as well as potential benefits for Iran, in pursuing nuclear
development for peaceful means. It will also give a brief history on Iran s stance and support for
terrorism, whether that be through economic means, or giving terrorists a safe haven, and how this
could be a threat if Iran continues to pursue nuclear weapons. Thirdly, this essay will explore the U.S.
and Europe s perspective on Iran s role in the Middle East, and why they do not want to see a

The Wonders Of The Canadian Government Essay
The Wonders Of The Canadian Government
Protection of life is NOT a legitimate use for a firearm in this country sir! Not! That is expressly ruled
out! Justice Minister Allan Rock, 1994. Guns are highly controlled in Canada for a reason, because if
they were not, where would Canada be now? Canada would be in anarchy as they slowly watch their
country slip into violence and on to its impending doom(Hyperbole). To think back on life, whether 19
years of age or 90 years of age, has there ever been a time where safety is found in holding a gun, or a
situation that felt a gun would have been necessary? To start off, Canadian citizens will feel safer
without guns because no one will have guns! Funny how that works now is it not? Firstly, a ... Show

Would Canadian citizens feel safer with the Trudeau government implementing these legislations in?
To be honest, they would, Justin made some very valid points and these did help him win a majority
government.
Lastly, if people feel unsafe with firearms they possess they can simply rid of them, when the right
time comes, through a Gun Amnesty Drive . This is where people can drop off a firearm that you
possess that is inherited or simply, no longer in usage. That means that people can use a gun amnesty
drive to drive away the worry of that weapon crashing into the wrong hands (Verbal Irony). Toronto
Police Inspector Chris Boddy feels that any time the Toronto police removes one gun out of a
neighbourhood, [it is] a good day, and [we have] a lot of good days . Due to Gun laws in Canada,
programs like the Gun Amnesty program in Toronto, and similar ones around the country are able to
happen, which gives the police a chance to get ahead against criminals and gangs. Do listen though,
the guns collected via these programs are not repurposed for the use of police officers, but are
destroyed, ridding of anyway for the guns collected to be brought out onto the street.
To bring this all into a smaller picture, because of the regulations set by the Trudeau government, and
because of the programs available to help destroy unwanted

Needed. That is just one of the many words that pop into my mind when I hear the word
Confederation. My fellow fathers of confederation as many of you may already know I am John. A.
Macdonald and I am very much in favor of confederation. When I was just a little boy I moved from
Scotland to amazing Canada West. That is who I am here representing. Since a young boy I have
always thought that Confederation would be a great idea. I have over the years realized what this
would bring to all of us. My fellow colonies of Nova Scotia New Brunswick and Prince Edward
Island I will tell you today in beautiful Charlottetown P.E.I why I believe so much in confederation. I
will change any doubters to believers of confederation. Today will change history for the next
generations to come, that is your children and all their children to come. One vote could change
everything. It can take us a long way.
Advantages to every colony is what confederation will bring. The first thing that is great is that we can
build a connecting railway from colony to colony, wouldn t that be great, my fellow friends. What is
so great about that you may ask. Every winter the St. Lawrence freezes, we can t take the chance of
falling through, why not build a connecting rail way Well obviously you could move from colony to

Us War Against Terrorism Essay
Stephen Blank another American writer has a perspective that that US should be consistent in its
process of combating against terrorism and other ills in the region with other regional organizations as
he says U.S. policy in Central Asia is embattled and under siege. Moscow and Beijing, as well as to a
lesser degree Tehran, view America s political and strategic presence in Central Asia with unfeigned
alarm. Indeed, Russia and China suspect America s desire for bases there. Despite Russo Chinese
protestations of support for the U.S. war on terrorism, in fact they wish to exclude America from the

On the other hand China is seen to propose the development of inter SCO Development Bank in 2010
as a smaller regional regional version of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund which
means that SCO plans to overcome monetary dependence which is run by the U.S.which will
ultimately lead to developing Russia and Chinese dominance in the region. The proposal is however
pending but there are indications that Russia may be more willing to cooperate with China moving

Findings and Dissemination
From recent developments it is becoming increasingly evident that SCO s activities are extended
beyond its original mandate. China recent military exercises with Russia and its support for

indicate a growth in military cooperation and scope. Given that the Eurasian heartland is incredibly
rich in natural resources competing powers will continue seeking dominance in the region. It appears
that SCO is a vital platform through which Russia and China seek to counterbalance the influence of

The Wounded Knee Massacre
Wounded Knee was a terrible event in US history. It showed how the US government didn t
understand the Native Americans and treated them badly and unfairly.
Big Foot was the chief of a subtribe of the Lakota called Miniconjou. He was very old and had
pneumonia. He was taking his tribe to the Pine Ridge Reservation in south western South Dakota.
Most of the women and children in Big Foot s tribe were family members of the warriors who had
died in the Plains wars. The Indians had agreed to live on small reservations after the US government
took away their land. At the Wounded Knee camp, there were 120 men and 230 women and children.
At the camp, they were guarded by the US Seventh Cavalry lead by Major Samuel Whitside. During
the year 1890 a new dance called the Ghost Dance started among the Sioux and other tribes. The
Sioux s Christ figure, Wovoka, was said to have flown over Sitting Bull and Short Bull and taught
them the dance and the songs. The Ghost Dance legend was that the next spring, when the grass was
high, the Earth would be covered with a new layer of soil, covering all white men. Wild buffalo and
horses would return and there would be swift running water, sweet grass, and new trees. All Indians
who danced the Ghost dance would be floating in the air when the new soil was being laid down and
would be saved. The Ghost Dance was made illegal after the Wounded Knee massacre though. On

The Specialization Of A Business Model Essay
The Specialization Business
Like the other models the specialization business model can be conflated with freelancers, solution
based businesses, and also first to market models. Like the solution based model, the specialization
model can be scaled up or built with the purpose of being sold. This kind of business model is a step
beyond the solution idea and combines the freelancer and the solution provider. One could even argue
that this is a matured version of the solution business. Whether the specialization business focuses on
a good or a service, the specialization model typically has extremely proprietary knowledge and
techniques which cannot be easily replicated by competing firms. Often, patents and complex legal
barriers to entry are established to protect the specialist s natural advantages. Elements of the
freelance, solution, debt, and first to market business models are present in specialization models, but I
classify this as a unique model of its own because the owners must protect their secrets yet clone
themselves to scale up. There are countless legacy businesses built on industry secrets, and proprietary
knowledge. McDonalds, Chick Fil A, and Kentucky Fried Chicken were all founded on very
specialized formulas and techniques that even to this day are exceptionally protected. Completely
opposite firms like DutchBoy paint, and computer platform firms like Oracle can also be considered
specialization businesses and also have their own secrets to

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Daycare
Fretting over the best way to mind your little one when you are away at work is commonplace for
most working moms. Choosing the right child care and ensuring your child is in safe hands is in no
doubt a hard nut to crack; and once a right choice is made, mothers are liable to be more relaxed and
confident at work.
The family system in Nigeria gives room to having family members around to help with childcare. It
is the norm to always have grannies (paternal and maternal), aunties, and even nieces at hand to assist
in taking care of your little one but in a situation where this isn t possible, getting the right childcare is
unavoidable.
When thinking about childcare the very first question that comes to mind is Nanny or Daycare? Any

With your child at a daycare, rushing to make pickups and drop offs to and fro work can really be time
consuming and tiring. A day care option also means you have to run a rigid work schedule in
compliance with the operational hours of the cr猫che where your child is enrolled (no after hours or
impromptu babysitting).
In choosing a daycare option for your child s care, it s important that you lookout for only registered
day care centres that meet government standards and policies. To also ease the burden, it s advised that
your selected cr猫che should be within the proximity of your office location. By this, drop offs and
pickups are easier and you can also make unannounced visits to the centre for periodic checks.
Giving a child one on one attention in early childhood is important but early interaction with other
kids is also very needful and should not be overlooked. An only child or firstborn that had
personalized nanny care is more likely to have a bit of difficulty interacting with other kids or
adjusting to the outside world (my daughter is a classic example due to the nature of my job at her

Virgil and Dante Essay
Virgil and Dante
In the note to Canto V regarding Francesca and Paulo, the Hollanders exclaim that Sympathy for the
damned, in the Inferno, is nearly always and nearly certainly the sign of a wavering moral disposition
(112). Indeed, many of the touching, emotional, or indignation rousing tales told by the souls in Hell
can evoke pity, but in the telling of the tales, it is always possible to derive the reasons for the damned
souls placement in Hell. However, there is a knee jerk reaction to separate Virgil and, arguably, some
of the other souls in limbo from this group of the damned, though, with careful perusal of the text, the
thoughtful reader can discern the machinations behind their damnation.
Although the dynamic between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Arguably, like the fathers of the Old Testament, he foresaw what would occur though not precisely
knowing the saving details. Also, like the Hebrew prophets, his work is filled with an underlying
sadness. The Aeneid ends, not with the joy or inevitably glory and majesty that would be Rome, but
with the bitter, angry Aeneas plunging his sword into the breast of Turnus, howling for revenge for the
dead Pallas. Thus, it is not surprising that Virgil ends up in precisely the same place as the writers of
the Old Testament: Limbo. While in the first circle of the damned, a list is given of these souls which
include Moses, Noah, Abel, the patriarch Abraham (IV.58), etc. However, Out of our midst [Christ]
plucked [these shades] (IV.55) shortly after the poet s death. These are not the only similarities
between Virgil and the old prophets: as many came to reach goodness in and through the Old
Testament, so did the poet Satius, who appears in Purgatorio reach Christianity only by the help of
Virgil. True, there is some awkwardness when Statius confesses this fact to Virgil, but this
awkwardness translates also to the rift between the old prophets and the new, as depicted in the
Earthly Paradise in Purgatorio:

Analysis of Investigation Regarding Manure and Antibiotics...
Dolliver et al. (2007) investigated the effect of antibiotic usage on concentration of antibiotics due to
manure use in the soil. Many farmers will add manure to their soils; in order to add nutrients to their
crops. The farmer may not be aware that when they are adding the manure they may also be adding
antibiotics. Sulfamethazine, a very important antibiotics used in livestock production, is given to the
livestock and they release the antibiotics in their feces. In 2001, 400 tons of sulfamethazine were
added to livestock yearly. In their experiment they focused on three main food crops; corn, lettuce, and
potato. They wanted to know if the plant would uptake the antibiotics in they were grown in soil
where the antibiotic was found. If the plant did uptake the antibiotics; it could lead to antibiotic
resistance bacteria to be found in the plants. Followed by; an increase amount of antibiotic resistance
bacteria consumed by humans and other animals.
Manure is used extensively in the United State; livestock produce 132 million metric tons yearly for
use in agricultural fields (Dolliver el al. 2007). The antibiotics that are found in the soil can persist for
several hundred days in the soil. Various antibiotics break down at different rates. Phytotoxicity can be
examined to test the effect of antibiotic exposure to the plants. The antibiotic exposure may reduce the
root stalk of the plant or other important features of the plant. Another issue with antibiotic

Environmental Influence On Native American Culture
Environment shaped the Native American culture. The Ice Age occurring 35,000 years ago shaped
oceans into glaciers, lowered sea level, and most importantly exposed the land bridge from Eurasia
(Siberia) to North America (Alaska). In this way, nomads (Asian Hunters) were able to cross the
American continent for 250 centuries and inhabit North and South America into countless tribes,
diverse cultures, and evolving over 2,000 separate languages. The difference of environment shaped
diverse Native cultures as those residing in the Great Plains (Pueblos) settled into agricultural villages
meanwhile tribes situated in mountainous regions (Iroquois) conformed to nomadic hunting.

Although strong tensions between the Natives and Europeans caused mass death over both
populations, other commodities can take the blame for the Native s demise. Alongside the animals and
plants Europeans brought from Europe, ominous germs were also carried in their travels to the New
World. This caused an epidemic of smallpox, yellow fever, and malaria within the Native American
population, who were not immune to the maladies. Within 50 years, 1 million of Taino natives in
Hispaniola dwindled to 200. A century after Columbus s arrival, over 90% of the Native population

Natives provided laboratories for testing techniques, overwhelming the advanced natives of Mexico

Themes Of Home Alone And Ransom Of Red Chief
The theme of a story is the moral message or lesson of a story. There are many themes in Home Alone
and Ransom of Red Chief but the one that stood out to me the most was that the looks of people can
be extremely different from their actions. In the story Ransom of Red Chief the story states The kid
was a freckle faced boy of ten with freckles that stood out. His hair was the color of the cover of the
magazine you buy at the newsstand when you want to catch a train. Hey little boy! Says Bill Would
you like to have a bag of candy and a nice ride? The boy hits Bill square in the eye with a piece of
brick . This illustrates that most people who read this story think he is a good kid by his looks until
you read where he hits Bill in the head with a brick. Bill thought he was a good kid but Bill learned
the hard way. In a scene from Home Alone the bad guys are looking through the house window and
think he s a helpless little boy, but when they try to get into the house they see he s not at all what he
looks like. Kevin made the steps icey so they would slip, put a blow torch above the door so it would
burn their hair and made an iron fall on Marv s face. This reveals that people first judge others based
on their looks but they don t truly know what they are like. Kevin and Johnny look like innocent
people but they have another side.
The characters in Ransom of Red Chief and Home Alone are very similar. Kevin and Johnny are both
very mischievous and very rowdy. In the story Ransom of Red Chief it states He was throwing rocks
at a kitten on a fence. This reveals the actions Johnny does and how he can be mischievous. Johnny
was throwing rocks at a kitten for no reason. In one scene from the movie Kevin was using cardboard
people or dummy s and hooked them up with string so the fake people could move when the bad guys
drove past the house. This shows Kevin was thinking outside the box but was also being mischievous
at the Same time. Kevin hooked the strings onto the dummy s so the bad guys would think someone
was home when they drove by because Kevin would be pulling the strings and they would be
constantly moving. Kevin was thinking outside the box when he used his brother s cardboard cutout of

Pursuing the American Dream in My Antonia by Willa Cather In the novel, My Antonia, by Willa

wrong man and ruin her life, but Lena had different plans. She did not listen to anything that they said
about her. As soon as she could, she got her own dress shop in Lincoln and thrived with it. After a

Essay On Peer Pressure
Peers are equal in abilities, age, background and even social stature. Peer Pressure is society
pressuring a member of a peer group to undertake certain actions, adapt values, and do what they
believe will allow them to be accepted into such a group. In the Bible, the Old Testament, the Gospels,
and the New Testament provides examples of Peer Pressure. The ability to either fall into or steer clear
of peer pressure is through the virtues of courage, temperance and prudence. We are followers of Jesus

Mark 15:15 states that Pilate was peer pressured into doing an act that he knew was not just, Wishing
to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas for them, and after having Jesus scourged, he handed
Him over to be crucified. This Gospel passage shows that our common sense can be easily altered by a
crowd of people wishing for a specific outcome. Pilate makes the ultimate decision and worries that if
the people do not get this outcome, they will riot and harm the one that made the decision. This
happens within our current society as well, regarding politics and how the government feels pressured
to do what the people want and if they do not, they fear of rebelling occurring within their nation.
Matthew 27:24 26 is alike to Mark because he too uses Pilate and his actions as an example. Matthew
writes, When Pilate saw that he was accomplishing nothing, but rather that a riot was starting, he took
water and washed his hands in front of the crowd, saying, I am innocent of this Man s blood; see to
that yourselves. And all the people said, His blood shall be on us and on our children! Then he
released Barabbas for them; but after having Jesus scourged, he handed Him over to be crucified.
These verses precede an important beginning. Yes, Pilate succumbs to the crowds and wishes to please
them, but the crowd would not have yelled Barabbas to be freed if it were not for

What Does It Mean To Be A Professional
The idea of what it means to be a professional varies in the diverse types of careers. To be a
professional can either be based on the amount of experience and qualifications a person has or how a
person behaves and acts in the workplace. A person who is disrespectful and immature, with several
certifications, is not a professional; similarly, to a person who has little qualifications, even though
they may be kind and respectful, are also not professionals. Being a professional means that you are
committed to your career in every aspect, including both qualifications and behaviour. In my specific
career, in medicine, what it means to be a professional is extensive. Doctors are responsible for
peoples lives and must be very trustworthy. To do this, they must be very knowledgeable and
confident in their abilities. To be a professional as a doctor, you must be qualified, experienced,
confident, and good behaviour.
To be qualified, you must have sufficient education to be certified in a career. Doctors require a

each group is significantly growing, but the oldest old seems to be growing the fastest among the three

is rising more by each generation. This advancement is greatly affecting the field of gerontology
(Hooyman and Kiyak, 2011). A vastly growing practice area that is much needed because by the

the U.S. was around 47 years old, and from 47 to today s 78.1 years (Hooyman and Kiyak, 2011).
When Hooyman and Kiyak (2011) examined the life expectancies from 1990 and 2005, they noticed a

1930s; however, they expect a rise in this age population because most of the baby boomers will be
turning 60 in the years following. During U.S. events like the 1930s Great Depression, and the late
1940s and early 1960s baby boomers years, these historical events has shifted the demographics of the
older population. The advancement of old age is a huge milestone today, and as this extremely diverse
population continues to grow associated risk factors are assumed to follow such as economic hardship,
and disabling illnesses or health conditions for the older

A Comparison Of Detective Marvel And Detective Comics
It is without a doubt that DC and Marvel, these gigantic comic book companies, have been extremely
influential. Both creating characters, stories, and lores, that will surely stand the test of time. Creating
references and influencing our pop culture to great lenghts. However, it is quite evident which of the
two companies has had, not just the most successful run, but the most influential run. Detective
Comics, better known as DC, is superior due it s content, film production, and overall impact on
history. First of all, DC comics has some of the most recognized icons and characters. Just to name a
few, there is Batman and his infamous The Batsignal . The Batsignal first appeared in the February
1942, in the comic book Detective Comics #60. DC comics also have the rights to Superman, one of
its first comic book superheroes, a well known icon. DC has a great collections of characters, and a
plethora of superheroes. Some of such heroes being, Superman, Batman, Zatman, the Flash, Captain
Atom, Robin, Wonder Woman, and the list continues. All of these Superheros have something in
common, emphasises on the super, they all are extremely godlike. They were all born super, either by
inheritance in the case of Batman, or powers at birth. They are born powerful, and are deeply
motivated by justice. This philosophy is quite interesting, however at time sound unattractive, where
the audience finds it hard to relate to these heroes. In spite of this gap between audience and hero,

Home Modifications For A Person s Environment
Home modifications are changes made to a person s environment to increase their level of
independence, heighten occupational performance, and to prevent possible accidents. There are many
ways to modify a home such as architectural (ramp), adaptive equipment (reacher), major home
renovations (bathroom/bedroom), and even simple safety modifications such as removal of throw rugs
and wearing shoes when walking (Stark, Landsbaum, et al., 2009).
Among the many OT interventions available for baby boomers, and others that are getting older, one
of the most beneficial ones is home modifications. How can home modifications impact someone s
life? According to Aplin, Jonge, and Gustafsson (2015), home modifications can impact five areas
(dimensions): the personal, occupational, physical, temporal, and social aspects. During a study of 42
modified households, these dimensions were investigated in depth. The personal aspect represented
safety, appearance, independence, and freedom. Are home modifications always readily accepted by
the client? Participants enjoyed the ability to do activities on their own in a secure manner. However,
some people stated that the modifications were not up to their home appearance standards.
Furthermore, some participants were disappointed in the amount of control they had over their
modifications. They stated that insurance had guidelines and restrictions that hindered what they had
expected. The occupational dimension allowed many people to perform

Alternative Dispute Resolution, Or Adr
Alternative Dispute Resolution, or ADR is the phrase used to describe the different methods of ways
to resolve legal disputes outside of the court system. There are many advantages and disadvantages to
it, and they come in many different forms in England and Wales. These include administrative
tribunals, arbitration, mediation, adjudication, conciliation, negotiation, expert determination and the
ombudsmen services.
Administrative Tribunals come in many different forms and can cover many areas including
employment tribunals, lands tribunals and rent tribunals. The most common one being employment
tribunals. The distinction between Tribunals and the Courts have sometimes be blurred because it has
long been held that tribunals are just an administrative extension to the Court system and therefore
some argue that Tribunals are not a separate entity, There is some debate as to whether tribunals are
merely part of the machinery of administration of particular projects or whether their function is the
distinct one of adjudication, 1 However the main difference between tribunals and the courts is that
tribunals are much more specialised in nature, coming in many forms, some of which are stated above.
Administrative tribunals are also not staffed by judges, and are staffed be specialists in the particular
field in which the administrative tribunal is being held. For example, an employment tribunal would
be chaired by a panel of people who specialise in employment law.

The Chorus In Medea
In Euripides tragedy Medea, he displays the Chorus feelings towards children; the Chorus talks about
how the people who never have children live life with less troubles before stating their opinion and
questioning those who thank the gods for children. The Chorus is justified in saying people who never
have children live life with less troubles. The Chorus believes that people [w]ho had never had
children of their own can [e]njoy the advantage in good fortune, for children are a burden (990, 991,
994). There are many advantages that people without children can enjoy because children are a burden
to raise and care for. The Chorus explains that parents are [b]urdend and worn with incessant worry

Essay On Mass Media
Delores Alston
HUM/186
September 25, 2017
Allyson Wells
INTRODUCTION Mass Media reaches a large part of our audiences today, whether it be from the
movies, advertising, the internet, newspapers, magazines, twitter, you tube, Instagram, Facebook and
so forth and because of this it can affect how we think and believe, both personally and as a society.
Today, I will address three specific areas that product mass media channels have been used and has
made a difference, either to me personally, or in society in general.
A biography of D. W. Griffith, film director of The Birth of a Nation. The channel of mass media is
PBS or specifically, American Masters.

...
So yes, it did, and still can shape and change, the part of our society that has turned against such
hatred. These days, it only needs a spark.
The second choice is Empire a television series that plays weekly. The product mass media channel is,
twitter, Facebook, and Instagram and that is due to people wanting to be a part of the action. Because
the networks are creating more shows where you can use your DVR viewing, this can mean the
difference between 100 episodes to 10 for social media.
1. In what way did your example shape, change, or reinforce your own cultural values?
This was a change in my cultural values, Empire has a lot of sexual issues in their episodes and It
doesn t portray who or what I stand for, therefore it made me feel like I must explain myself, or
express my values. If you read some of the responses on twitter and face book, it can get nasty and
yet, not all responses are bad, it s just the language they can use on these channels.
2. In what ways do you think they shape, change, or reinforce the cultural values of our society in
general.
It s obvious that it has changed how society use to be. When there wasn t anyone of these outlets,
society tried to watch what they said, and how they said it, but now, when you have a channel where
you can freely express and show your other side, it has become a welcome mat for a group in society
that doesn t see the wrong in what they say or do.
The third choice is Dancing with the Stars, a show that comes

Interview Evaluation
Evaluation of Personal Experiences with Interviews
As an interviewee or a client in psychotherapy I have noticed several things that helped me to feel
more comfortable and some that made me feel reserved. One of the things that I found beneficial was
an intake assessment questionnaire about my current life and prior history, which allowed me to
choose the degree of transparency that I was comfortable with. Disclosing certain information was, in
a way, my permission for my therapist to talk about it much sooner in therapy, than waiting for it to
eventually come out. I also appreciated the matter of fact demeanor of my therapist when discussing
my experiences because it allowed me to think that they were commonplace and she has dealt with
things ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I struggled with keeping clients on point when they just wanted to talk about other topics, because I
could see how valuable it was for them to share their struggles. These check ups felt impersonal and I
felt that I was not providing them with what they needed. I realized that counseling was not my job,
but I felt that there was a certain disconnect in this process. To tackle this problem I found it a bit more
helpful to inform the client that first we are going to go over a standard questionnaire and then in the
remaining time I would answer any questions or talk about a topic of their choosing. I also went into
the common area to find my clients instead of having them wait by the door, which allowed for a few
extra minutes for informal rapport building. I realized that the homeless clients in the shelter do not
have expectations of psychotherapy, however, I felt that these interviews were one sided; they
provided the agency with information and had no value for the client. I would have changed that by
spending remaining time talking about referrals, available community resources, or anything that
could have been potentially beneficial for the client. I would also assign one volunteer for these
interviews to allow the best ongoing rapport building experience.
The context and the environment often impact the interview. In a comfortable office of a therapist I
felt open to talking about personal things, yet in the midst of strong emotions I felt invalidated by a
therapist who has chosen a formal style of an interview. In a homeless shelter, I have managed to
make some clients feel more comfortable than others, but the fact that this process was an unbeneficial
formality was always apparent to both

Marching Through A Novel By John Updike
Tolerance and tenacity are two characteristics that most writers and poets struggle to maintain. They
must summon the will to push themselves in order to do their work and produce meaningful art. The
same goes within society, individuals have to choose whether or not to continuing trying to fight for
what they want or give into all the objects that are restraining them. In the poem Marching Through a
Novel , John Updike contrasts his characters undying devotion with his own lack of power through the
use of a forceful tone and imagery that is homogenous with life in the military in order to prove the
importance of persistence and perseverance. Updike personifies his characters as real individuals
whom always are obeying his decisions and

This research paper is about social media and mobile connectivity and its importance to graphic

With research, one can find the demographic portrait of users throughout technology.
Popescu (2013) gives an easy to follow infographic that tells us the type of people who use certain
networking sites, social media most often used by adults and a few interesting facts pertaining to age
and social media. With that being said, when it comes to targeting an audience through technology, it s
possible to be approaching the situation from all the wrong angles. One could be using a site to target
men in their forties when it is primarily used by women in their teens and twenties.
Seniors have proven to be a growing demographic in the world of technology in which they find cell
phones and computers as beneficial ways of communication. And, of course, the demographic
contributes to the continued use of healthy, security and home safety technology
(Orlov, 2011). Technology isn t limited to a single specific demographic, it is constantly evolving
3
and becoming a primary source of communication for the community. Being able to connect to an
audience through technology is to be connecting to the world and all the different people it has to
offer.
Technology of all kinds are being used by the diverse people of today. From teens to seniors, the
ability to connect with such a wide range of people is something that can only be accomplished via
technology. It is something to utilize, something to take

He also supports this by stating that the Buendia family had there fate written all along and was not able to avoid it by any means. PA is considered to be a restitutional treatment approach as it facilitates the mechanisms of recovery. In theory its main aim is to attempt to alter the damaged function within the brain, that allow for visual attention. Prism Adaptation is a treatment introduced under the theoretical account of a representational model of hemineglect. A representational model of hemineglect is a model in which suggests that there certain brain functions that control both visual imaging and perception (Ogden, 2005). A representational model takes into account that the spatial representation of the patients contralesional side of space is damaged or distorted (Pouget, Sejnowski, 2001). There is damage to the way in which the patient internalizes a map of space in relation to where they are and what is around them (Tilikete, et al., 2001). The method of prism adaptation is relatively simple. Although you cannot control all the confounding variables, that underlie each individual patient, there is a standard framework of how prism adaptation occurs. A procedure for a PA treatment begins with a pre test, to establish a baseline performance; then an active exposure to prismatic goggles to produce an adaptation in vision; and then lastly a post test to see if there is any after adaptation persistent after using the goggles (Redding et al, 2005). • 9. Examples Of The Ontological Argument Does the Ontological Argument successfully show that God exists? Anselm s ontological argument is a philosophical argument which aims to prove God s existence. The ontological argument is an argument for God s existence based on reason alone. According to this argument, there is no need to go out looking for physical evidence of God s existence; we can work out that he exists simply by thinking about it logically. (Anon., 2004) Anselm s argument is a reductio argument, it seeks to demonstrate that a statement is true by showing that an absurd result would follow from its denial. I will be discussing three objections to Anselm s argument which I will reply to, namely: the perfect island objection by Gaunilo; existence is not a predicate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Kant, existence is not a predicate/property that a thing can either possess or lack. He claims that when people say that God exists they are not saying that there is a God who possesses the property of existence. If that were the case, then when people say that God does not exist they would be saying that there is a God and he lacks the property of existence. They would then both be affirming and denying God s existence at the same time. Kant suggests that to say that something exists is to say that the concept of that thing is exemplified in the world. For example, as long as there is a Romeo who exists , there is also a Romeo . And, as long as there is a Romeo , there is also a Romeo who exists . Adding exists has in effect added nothing. (Chapman, 2016) Kant claims that it is impossible to compare a God that exists to a God that does not. They are both the same. A God that exists is all powerful, all knowing and all loving. A God that does not exist is also all powerful, all knowing and all loving. According to Kant, this shows that Anselm s ontological argument ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Prompt update of the indices of newly arriving peers and ensuring of connectivity among peers is also important. 2) Query handling: This involves the use of efficient mechanisms for propagating queries and returning responses. In all the 3 architectures, once the requested file has been located, a direct connection is set up between the two peers involved and the file download follows. These similarities and differences are what have been captured by the mathematical model presented in [16]. To capture the various characteristics, the peer peer system was modelled as a multiple class closed queueing network [16]. Each class comprises of a fixed number of peers, represented by N= (N (1) .........N(c)), where C represents the number of classes. In the rebalancing process, American society must remedy the poverty which afflicts public services, those in particular that are unrelated to industrial production, that serve public purposes rather than private. Through accepting the need to rebalance American society, the United States can move towards eliminating the various social disorders plaguing domestic life. Galbraith makes a compelling argument arguing that in order to stimulate demand for new automobiles, manufactures must continue to innovate and remind the public of the need for these products. Here Galbraith marks the stark divergence, where public services, schools, hospitals, roads and bridges, are not updated and individuals in a society are not constantly reminded of the importance of balancing public services. 2. What are the primary means for achieving this re balance? Ricardo Godinez Professor Dew History of Film November 21, 2017 Wild, Wild West Intro Historical Perspective Both films were made for different reasons and made different impacts during their time of release. For Django Unchained, the film showed the horror of slavery before the civil war. Showing slaves being eaten by dogs to slaves fighting to the death, makes an unconventional film for its time and raised a lot of controversy considering the movies historical accuracy. My fellow fathers of confederation as many of you may already know I am John. A. Macdonald and I am very much in favor of confederation. When I was just a little boy I moved from Scotland to amazing Canada West. That is who I am here representing. Since a young boy I have always thought that Confederation would be a great idea. I have over the years realized what this would bring to all of us. My fellow colonies of Nova Scotia New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island I will tell you today in beautiful Charlottetown P.E.I why I believe so much in confederation. I will change any doubters to believers of confederation. Today will change history for the next generations to come, that is your children and all their children to come. One vote could change everything. It can take us a long way. Advantages to every colony is what confederation will bring. The first thing that is great is that we can build a connecting railway from colony to colony, wouldn t that be great, my fellow friends. What is so great about that you may ask. Every winter the St. Lawrence freezes, we can t take the chance of falling through, why not build a connecting rail way Well obviously you could move from colony to colony so much faster. There is also a chance for war outbreak with the U.S, and a key to beating them is to be able to move troops very fast. Trading would be increased simply because for ... Big Foot was the chief of a subtribe of the Lakota called Miniconjou. He was very old and had pneumonia. He was taking his tribe to the Pine Ridge Reservation in south western South Dakota. Most of the women and children in Big Foot s tribe were family members of the warriors who had died in the Plains wars. The Indians had agreed to live on small reservations after the US government took away their land. At the Wounded Knee camp, there were 120 men and 230 women and children. The Sioux s Christ figure, Wovoka, was said to have flown over Sitting Bull and Short Bull and taught them the dance and the songs. The Ghost Dance legend was that the next spring, when the grass was high, the Earth would be covered with a new layer of soil, covering all white men. Wild buffalo and horses would return and there would be swift running water, sweet grass, and new trees. All Indians who danced the Ghost dance would be floating in the air when the new soil was being laid down and would be saved. The Ghost Dance was made illegal after the Wounded Knee massacre though. The Specialization Of A Business Model Essay The Specialization Business Like the other models the specialization business model can be conflated with freelancers, solution based businesses, and also first to market models. Like the solution based model, the specialization model can be scaled up or built with the purpose of being sold. This kind of business model is a step beyond the solution idea and combines the freelancer and the solution provider. One could even argue that this is a matured version of the solution business. Whether the specialization business focuses on a good or a service, the specialization model typically has extremely proprietary knowledge and techniques which cannot be easily replicated by competing firms. Often, patents and complex legal barriers to entry are established to protect the specialist s natural advantages. Elements of the freelance, solution, debt, and first to market business models are present in specialization models, but I classify this as a unique model of its own because the owners must protect their secrets yet clone themselves to scale up. There are countless legacy businesses built on industry secrets, and proprietary knowledge. Virgil and Dante Essay Virgil and Dante In the note to Canto V regarding Francesca and Paulo, the Hollanders exclaim that Sympathy for the damned, in the Inferno, is nearly always and nearly certainly the sign of a wavering moral disposition (112). Indeed, many of the touching, emotional, or indignation rousing tales told by the souls in Hell can evoke pity, but in the telling of the tales, it is always possible to derive the reasons for the damned souls placement in Hell. However, there is a knee jerk reaction to separate Virgil and, arguably, some of the other souls in limbo from this group of the damned, though, with careful perusal of the text, the thoughtful reader can discern the machinations behind their damnation. Also, like the Hebrew prophets, his work is filled with an underlying sadness. The Aeneid ends, not with the joy or inevitably glory and majesty that would be Rome, but with the bitter, angry Aeneas plunging his sword into the breast of Turnus, howling for revenge for the dead Pallas. Thus, it is not surprising that Virgil ends up in precisely the same place as the writers of the Old Testament: Limbo. While in the first circle of the damned, a list is given of these souls which include Moses, Noah, Abel, the patriarch Abraham (IV.58), etc. However, Out of our midst [Christ] plucked [these shades] (IV.55) shortly after the poet s death. Many farmers will add manure to their soils; in order to add nutrients to their crops. The farmer may not be aware that when they are adding the manure they may also be adding antibiotics. Sulfamethazine, a very important antibiotics used in livestock production, is given to the livestock and they release the antibiotics in their feces. In 2001, 400 tons of sulfamethazine were added to livestock yearly. In their experiment they focused on three main food crops; corn, lettuce, and potato. They wanted to know if the plant would uptake the antibiotics in they were grown in soil where the antibiotic was found. If the plant did uptake the antibiotics; it could lead to antibiotic resistance bacteria to be found in the plants. Followed by; an increase amount of antibiotic resistance bacteria consumed by humans and other animals. Manure is used extensively in the United State; livestock produce 132 million metric tons yearly for use in agricultural fields (Dolliver el al. 2007). The antibiotics that are found in the soil can persist for several hundred days in the soil. Various antibiotics break down at different rates. There are many themes in Home Alone and Ransom of Red Chief but the one that stood out to me the most was that the looks of people can be extremely different from their actions. In the story Ransom of Red Chief the story states The kid was a freckle faced boy of ten with freckles that stood out. His hair was the color of the cover of the magazine you buy at the newsstand when you want to catch a train. Hey little boy! Says Bill Would you like to have a bag of candy and a nice ride? The boy hits Bill square in the eye with a piece of brick . This illustrates that most people who read this story think he is a good kid by his looks until you read where he hits Bill in the head with a brick. Bill thought he was a good kid but Bill learned the hard way. In a scene from Home Alone the bad guys are looking through the house window and think he s a helpless little boy, but when they try to get into the house they see he s not at all what he looks like. Kevin made the steps icey so they would slip, put a blow torch above the door so it would burn their hair and made an iron fall on Marv s face. This reveals that people first judge others based on their looks but they don t truly know what they are like. Kevin and Johnny look like innocent people but they have another side. The characters in Ransom of Red Chief and Home Alone are very similar. Kevin and Johnny are both very mischievous and very rowdy. In the story Ransom of Red Chief it states He was throwing rocks at a kitten on a fence. This reveals the actions Johnny does and how he can be mischievous. Johnny was throwing rocks at a kitten for no reason. In one scene from the movie Kevin was using cardboard people or dummy s and hooked them up with string so the fake people could move when the bad guys drove past the house. The distinction between Tribunals and the Courts have sometimes be blurred because it has long been held that tribunals are just an administrative extension to the Court system and therefore some argue that Tribunals are not a separate entity, There is some debate as to whether tribunals are merely part of the machinery of administration of particular projects or whether their function is the distinct one of adjudication, 1 However the main difference between tribunals and the courts is that tribunals are much more specialised in nature, coming in many forms, some of which are stated above. Administrative tribunals are also not staffed by judges, and are staffed be specialists in the particular field in which the administrative tribunal is being held. For example, an employment tribunal would be chaired by a panel of people who specialise in employment law. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The Chorus In Medea In Euripides tragedy Medea, he displays the Chorus feelings towards children; the Chorus talks about how the people who never have children live life with less troubles before stating their opinion and questioning those who thank the gods for children. The Chorus is justified in saying people who never have children live life with less troubles. The Chorus believes that people [w]ho had never had children of their own can [e]njoy the advantage in good fortune, for children are a burden (990, 991, 994). There are many advantages that people without children can enjoy because children are a burden to raise and care for. The second choice is Empire a television series that plays weekly. The product mass media channel is, twitter, Facebook, and Instagram and that is due to people wanting to be a part of the action. Because the networks are creating more shows where you can use your DVR viewing, this can mean the difference between 100 episodes to 10 for social media. 1. In what way did your example shape, change, or reinforce your own cultural values? This was a change in my cultural values, Empire has a lot of sexual issues in their episodes and It doesn t portray who or what I stand for, therefore it made me feel like I must explain myself, or express my values. If you read some of the responses on twitter and face book, it can get nasty and yet, not all responses are bad, it s just the language they can use on these channels. 2. In what ways do you think they shape, change, or reinforce the cultural values of our society in general. It s obvious that it has changed how society use to be. When there wasn t anyone of these outlets, society tried to watch what they said, and how they said it, but now, when you have a channel where you can freely express and show your other side, it has become a welcome mat for a group in society that doesn t see the wrong in what they say or do. • 48. Interview Evaluation Evaluation of Personal Experiences with Interviews As an interviewee or a client in psychotherapy I have noticed several things that helped me to feel more comfortable and some that made me feel reserved. One of the things that I found beneficial was an intake assessment questionnaire about my current life and prior history, which allowed me to choose the degree of transparency that I was comfortable with. Disclosing certain information was, in a way, my permission for my therapist to talk about it much sooner in therapy, than waiting for it to eventually come out. I also appreciated the matter of fact demeanor of my therapist when discussing my experiences because it allowed me to think that they were commonplace and she has dealt with things ... I struggled with keeping clients on point when they just wanted to talk about other topics, because I could see how valuable it was for them to share their struggles. These check ups felt impersonal and I felt that I was not providing them with what they needed. I realized that counseling was not my job, but I felt that there was a certain disconnect in this process. To tackle this problem I found it a bit more helpful to inform the client that first we are going to go over a standard questionnaire and then in the remaining time I would answer any questions or talk about a topic of their choosing. I also went into the common area to find my clients instead of having them wait by the door, which allowed for a few extra minutes for informal rapport building. I realized that the homeless clients in the shelter do not have expectations of psychotherapy, however, I felt that these interviews were one sided; they provided the agency with information and had no value for the client. I would have changed that by spending remaining time talking about referrals, available community resources, or anything that could have been potentially beneficial for the client. I would also assign one volunteer for these interviews to allow the best ongoing rapport building experience. The context and the environment often impact the interview. In a comfortable office of a therapist I felt open to talking about personal things, yet in the midst of strong emotions I felt invalidated by a therapist who has chosen a formal style of an interview. In a homeless shelter, I have managed to make some clients feel more comfortable than others, but the fact that this process was an unbeneficial formality was always apparent to both ...
