Homework Isn t The Answer Prioritize; this is an idea that I was taught to make use of at a very young
age. I was instructed to analyze what was on my agenda and decide what task had the most value at
that current time. It is an unrealistic idea for college bound students to be able to complete all of the
home learning as well as all of our other daily expectations. Over the last ten years, children in grades
3 12 have seen assigned homework increase up to 40%. I personally have four teachers who told me to
expect 2 hours of homework a night. At least I have a choice though, right? I can do the work or drop
the class , but unfortunately our classrooms are overcrowded so I can t switch to a more reasonable
teacher of the subject... and too bad I need these credits to graduate. There s that word prioritize again.
Assuming I went to school and only 3 of my teachers assigned me the said homework I would be left
with 12 hours in my day (6 hours were spent at school and supposedly 6 hours were spent on
homework). Now, According to the National Sleep Foundation, teenagers need 9.5 hours of being
unconscious to not suffer from sleep deprivation (1). SO lets say I got my 9 hours of sleep, did my
homework, and went school. That would leave me with less than 3 hours to eat, practice personal
hygiene, commute, go to work, and do everything else expected from schools and colleges; extra
curricular activities, sports, volunteering, studying, applying to universities...

Dilemma may forever change the way you think about food. I enjoyed Mr. Pollan s book, The
Omnivore s Dilemma and learned a great deal of information. Pollan s book is a plea for us to stop and
think for a moment about our whole process of eating. Pollan sets out to corn fields and natural farms,
goes hunting and foraging, all in the name of coming to terms with where food really comes from in
modern America and what the ramifications are for the eaters, the eaten, the economy and the
environment. The results are far more than I expected them to be.
I had no idea we used so much fossil fuel to get corn to grow as much as it does. There is a
widespread of obesity today due to the need of agricultural excesses of corn. I hadn t thought, for
example that anyone could give me any more reasons not to eat HOT French fries at McDonalds, but
Pollan did!
The first section of this book traces a meal at McDonalds back to its basic ingredient corn. From the
corn that feeds the chickens to the xanthan gum in the milkshake to the sweetener in the ketchup and
oil in which the fries are cooked, McDonalds is mostly corn. Since Fast Food Nation and the other
exposes, I don t think there s anyone who cares who doesn t know how gross fast food is, and Pollan

college students? To explore the research questions this review will use the Calling and Vocation
Questionnaire (CVQ; Dik, Eldridge, Steger, Duffy, 2012) to measure calling. Measurement of the
variable of academic satisfaction will be facilitated by a seven item measure developed by Lent, et al.
(2005). Withdrawal deliberation measures will be adapted from Pleskac, et al. (2009). The variable of
major commitment will be measure through the academic major satisfaction survey (Nauta, 2007).
Review of Instrument The CVQ is a 24 item, self report measure that assesses an individual s belief
that they have a calling, and/or the individual is searching for a calling (Dik, et al., 2012). The
instrument s purpose as described by its authors is to assess calling in the domain of work (Dik, et al.,
2012, pg. 243). The CVQ includes three subscales that relate to the search for a calling (Search
Transcendent Summons, Search Purposeful Work, and Search Prosocial Orientation) and three

Earthquakes are a marvel of geology. When faults under the surface of the earth move, the ground
moves. These earthquakes can be very mild, barely registering or they can be horrific with far
reaching consequences. Scientists have become fascinated with the study of earthquakes for centuries
but it is only in recent years that quantified data has been collected and analyzed by scientists
regarding these geologic phenomena. Before the invention of the Richter scale, less accurate means of
measuring an earthquake s intensity were used by geological scientists.
Until the early 1900s, earthquakes could only be measured after the earthquake had ended and then

The purpose of this investigation is to examine the extent to which the Chinese Cultural Revolution
impacted China s economy from 1966 to 1970. The main body of the investigation will focus on the
persecution and violence towards high level party officials and capitalists by the Red Guards and the
Destroy the Four Olds campaign. The Destroy the Four Olds campaign was significant because it
inhibited industrial and agricultural innovation and production of an entire country for a decade as it
placed the country s economy and industry into the hands of inexperienced revolutionaries. Two
sources that will be used will be China: A New History and Modern China: The Fall and Rise of a
Great Power, 1850 to the Present, and they will be evaluated in regards to their purpose, value, and
