High School With Female And Male Learners With Special...
Where/what is the research site? The site for this study will be a local high school with both female
and male learners with Special Education Needs (SEN) and learning disability. The research will
target or focus on one of the schools with a high number of disabled students to ensure the statistics
taken are more conclusive for the study. Together with the school administration, 9 12th grade
teachers, students, and counselors we will attempt to come up with the best and efficient mode of
conducting the research. Addressing the issue of young people with disabilities requires the inclusion
of a larger audience such as the students, teachers, and administrators (Supports Center, 2004).
According to Milsom, counselor s assigned the role of preparing students for the job and life outside
school has failed to adequately present the disabled students with skills to cope with life after school
(2002). The research records the type of instruction and skills taught to the students, looking for the
relation of the information and survival in the outside world. The study will collect data by asking the
students questions related to survival outside the school and rate students according to the level of
preparedness. Through such information, the research can offer a clear understanding of the issue to
be discussed as well as the culture in the schools today concerning their ability to prepare learners for
employment environment and real life after school. Target Group The

Simone Dubnow s Pale Of Settlement
The largest immigration of Jewish citizens to Eastern Europe occurred between 965 and 1795. From
1772 to 1795 Russia expanded its territories westward. Czarist Catherine the Great encouraged
Russian territorial expansion in 1772. She pushed the Border of Russia into the weak and under
developed Commonwealth of Polish Lithuania. Lithuania, Belarus, Poland and the Ukraine were all
part of Polish Lithuania. After acquiring new territory, the Russian nobility needed to decide how to
deal with a new culturally diverse citizenry. The Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth lands acquired in
the 1700 s, contained significant populations of Jewish citizens, which was a problem since the

Jews were charged with killing Christian children to use their blood for making unleavened bread
(matzah) for Passover. Blood libels peppered Europe throughout the twelfth and thirteenth centuries,
as well as the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Jews were accused during the thirteen through
sixteenth centuries of desecrating the Host, the blessed bread distributed during the Eucharist.
In the fourteenth century famines and plaques struck Western Europe with a vengeance, in reaction to
the problem many kings blamed and expelled the Jews from countries like, Spain, Germany, France,
and Hungary. Jewish communities fled eastward to escape persecution, until the late 1700 s when

Essay on Dealing with Aggression
Dealing with Aggression
Abstract
We live in a society where aggressive acts happen every day, but do we really know what causes it?
How can we help ourselves and others to understand what aggression is? First off, we need to define
aggression, tell it s causes and effects and determine the best way to deal with it. For example,
aggression can be positive or negative, accidental or intended and physical or mental. Aggression is a
continuing behavior in our world today and I feel that it is very important that we try to start
controlling it now.
Aggression is a critical part of animal existence, which is a driving force to humans, as we too are
animals. The source of aggression within humans is an ongoing list so therefore, ... Show more

Aggression can fall under a number of forms. Due to its relative nature, aggression is extremely hard
to isolate and study. A major distinction made in animal studies of aggression, and one that may well
have profound implications for human aggression, is the difference between offensive and defensive
aggression (Feshbach, Zagrodzka 1997). Much research has already been done indicating that
different brain sites mediate predation and defensive aggression. Aggression can take many different
paths. The act of hitting a wall to release aggression has some of the same roots as playing football
and enjoying hitting the quarterback. A child yelling at their parents could be equated in its
aggressiveness with someone honking their horn when they get cut off driving. Psychologist Arlene
Stillwell performed an experiment where she assigned ordinary college students at random to play the
role of a victim or a perpetrator in a small incident. Then she asked the students to describe the
situation that had just happened. What she found was that both victims and perpetrators deformed the
truth equally to present their sides in a better light. Victims would dwell on their lasting traumas from
the incident while the perpetrator might make the act seem like a one time action provoked by
insurmountable circumstances. The resulting implication is that aggression is in the eye of the

Speech On Our Road Sense
Don t we all remember that famous advertisement by a tyre company where a couple enjoying a late
night ride on their bike are almost rammed into by a car which takes a wrong turn and they are saved
just in time because of the superior tyres? Or the one where a careless guy with a baby in a pram is
talking over the mobile phone while he crosses the road and is almost run over a biker but for his good
brakes and tyres? And to top it all, the one with the pram swears at the biker instead of apologizing and
owning up his fault! I could cite a whole book full of such scenarios that aptly describe India s road
sense. The street are indeed filled with idiots, be it out of lack of civic sense or otherwise. And what s
even more annoying is the fact that we tend not to care much about it and take it all in stride as
something very normal. It is said that just knowing what is wrong lays the foundation of the future
right (if any). Here is a compilation of the sad state of our road sense (remember, brevity is a virtue
which really tested me here, trying to come up with as few examples as I could, given our
inconspicuous road sense).
HORN NOT OK PLEASE! In this lovely country of ours, no driver of an automobile worth his salt

SMEs in Singapore
1. Introduction Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) form the majority of the enterprises in Singapore
s economy. They employ over 70% of Singapore s workforce and generate about 50% of the country s
total GDP. Most SMEs in Singapore grow from small enterprises into large competitive companies.
Manufacturing and wholesale SME sectors have increased impressively with the number of
employees in these sectors increasing by up to 8%. SMEs in the Finance, Property and holdings sector
hold the top three sectors in terms of the amount of profits accrued. Competitive strategies in
Singapore s SMEs are based on the 3MK key success factors; Management, Markets, Money and
Knowhow (Bull Winter, 1991). In this paper, the contribution of SMEs to Singapore, the economic
constraints that face them, and the steps that can be taken to strengthen SMEs to ensure its sustained
contribution to Singapore s economy will be discussed.
2. Contribution of SMEs in Singapore SMEs in Singapore generate a large share of new jobs. The
government handed out $98 million to be used in upgrading projects for small and medium sized
enterprises with the sole aim of increasing a torrent of new jobs. According to the Minister of State for
Trade and Industry, Teo Ser Luck, these projects would create 15,000 new jobs and produce over $4.4
billion to the economy in terms of value added. SMEs employ more labor intensive production

Socrates Real Person
Was Socrates Really a Real Person?
(A discussion of how Socrates was influential and intriguing using Plato s Republic) To learn about
the past, people in today s society often consult the internet or history books. To an extent, all we
know about the past is from what we have read or heard, so what is actually truth, and what is just a
captivating story. Scholars believe that some people from history are just made up to portray ideals or
tell a story with an important message. Socrates was a real man, but some scholars believe that some
of Socrates beliefs are truly just Plato, his student, writing things and saying that Socrates believed in
them. The world today has virtually no idea whether Socrates believed everything that is recorded in
Plato s Republic. Socrates, as portrayed in Plato s Republic, is extremely intriguing because of the
way he communicates with people with his sarcasm and use of his Socratic method to teach. In Plato s
Republic, Socrates is portrayed as a man who answers everything in a way that avoids actually
answering any questions. Socrates wants the people he is talking with to think for themselves so he
never gives a definitive answer when asked a question. Instead of talking clearly, Socrates talks with
thick sarcasm. Holding a conversation with someone is a sort of game to Socrates, so almost
everything he says is shrouded with sarcasm and double meanings. Why does Socrates play with
people s minds with sarcasm and intrigue? Socrates was

Specificity In Coding
I think all coding is important, but since I have to choose between level of specificity and impending
or threatened conditions. I would say level of specificity is more important. Level of specificity refers
to the amount of detail included in the code and is important in diagnosis coding. Mrs. Pavey mention
we can t code impending or threatened instead code the signs and symptoms. In order to prove
medical necessity and get reimbursement I will say both are important. I think all topics are relevant to

Manifest Destiny Essay
I shall never forget the impression which our first landing on the beach of California made upon me,
Richard Henry Dana fondly recalls in his book, Two Years Before The Mast
(60). In 1834 Dana, a nineteen year old law student, set sail from Boston to California, by way of
Cape Corn. When Dana set sail on the Pilgrim he could have never conceptualized that which he
would encounter nor could the Spaniards and Indians foresee the ramifications of his journey to their
coast. Six years later, he would publish his book, a memoir of his experience, that would ultimately
persuade many into settling on the California coast. Two years Before The Mast depicted the land as
not only wonderful, but also uninhabited. Furthermore, he explained why the
Spaniards were undeserving of the land. Not only were they squandering California s potential, but
they were creating a negative quality of life for the Indians which were treated as lower than them. In
Dana s mind, Americans were the only people capable of bringing the coast to life.
This mentality of condemnation of other cultures and self importance was a perfect example of the
attitude which would be coined as Manifest Destiny in 1848. This was the belief that by the will of
God, fate, nature, or any other means, America was destined to expand westward and reach its full
power. Essentially, any excuse that could be given to take control over land was explained away as a
positive. For California, depending on the

Racial Undertone s
The study in contrasts between Shakespeare s Othello and Tim Blake Nelson s 2001 movie O have
many prevalent differences. Issues of jealousy and racial tensions are still deeply rooted into our
society and can be examined in theO, Othello, and the Elizabethan era where many of Shakespeare s
plays took place. The racial undertone was more prevalent in the movie, although in each
interpretation Othello/Odin was the only black individual in each setting. However the most prevalent
differences between William Shakespeare s Othello and Tim Blake Nelson s O are the racial
undertones shown through cinematic techniques and Othello/Odin s self perception.
The director used cinematic techniques and different stereotypes to explore the racial tension between
white and black society. Hugo explains the meaning of the hawk in his soliloquy towards the end of
the movie. He expresses the thought that Odin is a powerful and majestic hawk, this is something that
Hugo desires. Which is controversial because in Othello and O black males usually had aspirations to
be seen as a dove. However the image of a black male does not fit into a white ... Show more content

complaints. Tis yet to know Which, when i know that boasting is an honor, i shall promulgate, I fetch

his past and truly believed that it should speak for itself. He did not allow racial stereotypes to define
himself. Othello was perceived as a warrior and leader, which was not the case in Venice. Therefore
Othello did not perceive himself as a stereotypical black male in Venice. In contrast, Odin was more

Endangered Animals Are Endangered
Tigers are primarily killed to supply underground black markets with its organs, pelts, and bones.
These items are highly regarded in eastern medicine (although these treatments have been disproven
and have no real medical value). Innocent endangered animals are being killed for false hopes and
cures within the eastern culture. Poaching has traditionally been defined as the illegal hunting, killing
or capturing of wild animals. The difference between poaching and hunting is one, is that poaching is
hunting without the approval of whomever controls or owns the land. Even though some people
believe poaching creates lots of business and brings in major income for certain smaller, poorer
countries, it endangers our species because it reduces the population of rare or endangered animals,
destroys precious ecosystems within the wild, and poaching is extremely harmful to humans.
Poaching endangers our species because it reduces the population of rare or endangered animals. In
the article Poaching Blamed for Loss of Western Black Rhino , by Frank Jordans states Its loss is
significant because the Western Black Rhino is genetically distinct from other rhino subspecies.
Reintroducing animals born into captivity is costly and may be impossible, experts say. According to
the article, once a species or subspecies goes into extinction within its wild habitat it s near impossible
to recover them back. Introducing the captive species into the area would just cause more harm and be

How Did Tesla Contribute To Modern Society
Nikola Tesla: Inventor Of Modern Society
When Nikola Tesla was born, electricity was a mere theory. There were no light bulbs, lamps,
computers, cell phones, or any form of harnessed energy. Nevertheless, young Tesla had a great mind
that could envision all sorts of possibilities for this force. He invented the alternating current,
induction motor, Tesla coil, as well as laying the foundation for radio, neon lighting, remote control,
radar, and even cell phones. So why don t we think of Tesla as the true inventor of modern society?
Because while Tesla s mind was great, his skills as a businessman were not. Although Tesla was a
poor businessman, his inventions were the driving force behind industrial modernization.

A.K. Brown, from the Western Union, decided to invest in Tesla s AC theories. In a modest laboratory
not too far from Edison s offices, Tesla crafted the motors just as he imagined them. He had finally
been able to create the machine he had dreamed of for so long, but how would it fare against Edison s
generators? In late 1887, Tesla applied for seven patents affiliated with polyphase AC motors and
power transmission. His ideas were accepted and those inventions proved to be some of the most
valuable ever created. Soon after, a man by the name of George Westinghouse caught wind of Tesla s
incredible ideas. After meeting with Tesla, he purchased the patents for $60,000 dollars, plus he
agreed to pay $2.50 per horsepower of electrical capacity sold. The advancements from Tesla s patents
caused an industrial war to erupt. The future of electricity in the U.S. was at stake, as well as whether
Edison s DC or Westinghouse s AC would prevail as the central form of energy. It was around this
time that Edison began his rampage against alternating current. He told anyone who

Insanity Plea Essay
Insanity Plea Insanity, comes from the Latin word sanus, meaning healthy. Insane is meant to be the
opposite, sick or of unsound mind. # In the court of law, the jury must prove that at the time of the
crime, the defendant was not in a sane mind. The attorneys job is to prove without a doubt, that the
defendant was not in control of their actions, at the time the crime was committed. Once this is done
and the verdict is given, if found guilty by reason of insanity, the person is usually sent to a mental
hospital, where treatment can be give. Once at the hospital the patient is then give therapy and even

A person also can be found not guilty by reason of insanity if he or she did know what was happening
but did not understand that it was wrong. Since this rule requires a disease or defect of the mind, the
lowering of a person s inhibitions by drugs, alcohol, blind hatred, extreme anger or some neurotic
behavior would not provide an insanity defense.
However, more recently states have been adopting a more interpretative view on the insanity plea. The
American Law Institute (ALI) requires the defendants to be judged and found not guilty if either two
of theses points can be adequately established in the court of law. First of all they must show that due
to an mental disease or defect the defendants lacked, at the time, the substantial mental capacity either
to understand what they did, and, secondly to conform their act to the requirements of the law.# In the
court of law you can also plea that at the time of the crime you were in a diminished capacity,
incapable of premeditation. Which means that even though you are sane in your everyday life at the
time of the crime you were in a sudden mad rage, causing you to act the way you did, so therefore you
were temporarily insane. While an insanity defense could be raised in almost

Much like teaching styles adaptability, teachers must accommodate and adapt their teaching to ensure
student understanding and creative thought. Through tactical teaching styles that adapted and fitted the

ABSTRACT
Abrasive Water Jet Machining (AWJM) is a new machining technique. Abrasive Water Jet Machining
is widely used in many industries, including mining and aerospace, for cutting, shaping, and reaming.
AWJM is the extended version of Water Jet Machining. AWJM is a non conventional machining
process where the material is removed by impact erosion of the high velocity, high pressure of water
and entrained high velocity of fine grit abrasives such as sand (SiO2) or beads of glass on a work
piece. The Important process parameters which mainly affect the quality of cutting are hydraulic
pressure, traverse speed, standoff distance, abrasive flow rate and types of abrasive material used in
the process. The Important quality parameters in AWJM are Material Removal Rate (MRR), Surface
Roughness (SR), kerf width and tapering of the kerf. This paper reviews the research work carried out
so far in the area AWJM.
Keywords: AWJM, Material Removal Rate, Surface Roughness, traverse speed, Kerf width

Examples Of Mistakes In Atonement
Good morning, today I am going to talk about the ability to learn from mistakes. I ve based my oral
presentation on the novel Atonement by Ian McEwan. It can be said that it is in the nature of all of us,
human beings, to make mistakes. Of course, there are different kinds of mistakes; there are some that
are innocent and harmless and others that can affect ourselves and/ or other people s lives. Still, it is
mainly by making this second type of mistakes that we can learn important life lessons. They can help
us to identify our flaws, and thus help us mature and achieve personal growth. Yet, not everybody may
be able to learn from mistakes. This seems to be the case of Briony Tallis, one of the main characters
of the novel Atonement by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

they will make concerning their health and well being.
After learning healthy habits in the program, students tend to go home and share what they have
learned with their parents and family. The knowledge that is taught to the youth goes well beyond their
own minds and bodies, but benefits the people around them as well. The 4 H Afterschool programs
seek to not only help the individuals, but their lives as they increase knowledge and skills necessary
for improving physical activity practices and to improve the habits and behaviors of children, youth,
and families (Downey, et al., 2014, p. 14). The goals that have been set forth should ultimately reduce
the health risks that are seen in communities such as obesity and illnesses (Downey, et al., 2014, p.

The Effects of Gender Bias on Elementary School Children...
The Effects of Gender Bias on Elementary School Children
It s a girl! or It s a boy! is typically the first thing parents hear after the birth of a child. This simple
statement of fact sets the groundwork for every interaction they will have with their daughter or son,
and for every experience that child will have throughout her or his life. Gender identity the private
experience of being female or male forms a core part of one s sense of self (Welker). The nature of this
private experience is enormously influenced by what we are taught it means to be a girl or a boy, and
these lessons are typically fraught with instances of gender bias what Beverly Stitt, author of Building
Gender Fairness in Schools, defines as a set of beliefs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In our society, males are the preferred sex. Mothers show a 2:1 preference for male children, and
fathers even more so (The Pinks and the Blues). Parents stereotype their child from birth: they think
that boys are more alert, more coordinated, stronger, bigger, and less attentive, while girls are softer,
weaker, and more attentive (Stockman). Research by Bloch at U. C. Berkeley revealed that parents
encourage differences in their children; with sons, parents emphasize achievement and value
independence and self reliance, while with daughters, parents emphasize proprieties and supervise
their daughters activities more than their sons (The Pinks and the Blues). I observed a videotape, titled
The Pinks and the Blues, of a family interview in which first the son and then the daughter were asked
to solve a puzzle with their parents present. With the son, Dad emphasized the cognitive aspects of the
task and checked for understanding, while Mom looked on. With the daughter, Dad emphasized the
affective relationship (the father daughter interaction) and stressed that the important thing was to
have fun, while Mom provided help to the point of interfering with the daughter s performance.
In addition to parents, the other primary agent influencing children at this age is the media, via
television. Little girls can watch Spiderman swing high

A Master Mind By Napoleon Hill
The term mastermind is a current buzzword among entrepreneurs. Although it might be nice to have a
supergenius like Lex Luthor on your side, the term mastermind, in the context of business, has nothing
to do with comic book supervillains. The term was first coined by Napoleon Hill in his famous 1925
book The Law of Success. In the book, a master mind (two words at that time) was his way of
describing the benefits of cooperation among business colleagues. The book itself was a good example
of the power of a mastermind, as it was derived from interviews with over 100 of the most highly
successful millionaire business people at that time. Fast forward to the 21st century, and the term is
still popular, although the meaning has changed somewhat. Today the term mastermind refers to a
group of entrepreneurs that come together to lend support and share various resources of knowledge,
contacts and opportunities. There are many kinds of masterminds. Some have membership dues and
some are free. Some are more specifically geared toward specific industries or demographics, while
others are completely open. There are large online groups that interact through social media and small
local groups that meet in person. When a group of talented people with the same goals come together,
there are many ways they can help each other. Masterminds are a primary example of this dynamic at
work. Consider the following reasons why you should join a mastermind. Collaboration People all

Tornado Recovery Summary
This summary will cover the lessons learned and any suggestions necessary concerning the following
disaster. On May 22, 2011 a tornado spawned east of the Missouri Kansas state line from a massive
supercell thunderstorm that quickly escalated into an EF 5 monster. This monster tornado tore a half
mile to three quarter mile wide path of total destruction through Joplin, Missouri claiming 161 lives
(Smith Sutter, 2013). The response by the local and state government was immediate bringing in a
combination of public and private sector efforts. Joplin is one of the few disasters that displayed how
recovery efforts should be executed. Public sectors after the disaster focused mainly on clearing debris
and bringing the community back into normalcy, while the private sector ... Show more content on

One key factor that helped in the timely recovery of Joplin was the massive volunteer sector efforts.
There were more than 92,000 registered volunteers that came from the United States and as far away
as Japan to help restore the community (Smith Sutter, 2013). To house all of these volunteers FEMA
provided temporary housing units for the volunteers and displaced victims. Immediately after the
tornado, the American Red Cross set up shelters for the displaced victims and within two weeks of the
disaster they also had a long term recovery committee functioning. Along with the tremendous
response from public, private, and volunteer sectors the social media network contributed a huge role
in coordinating relief. Most notably the local churches of St. Paul and College Heights utilized
Facebook to contact churches outside of Joplin bringing in faith based organizations from all over the
United States (Smith Sutter, 2013). The most fascinating aspect of Joplin s recovery was the
autonomous nature that the private and public sectors were able to perform under. This can be

Causality and Timeliness Essay
Timeliness
Timeliness is important in all aspects of life. In the army they say 10 minutes prior is on time, and
being on time is late , that is the standard set forth and expected to be accomplished by the armed
forces. By oversleeping I not only failed to meet the standard, I also failed my squad and my platoon
because they did not have accountability of everyone, another main standard of the army. I also took
the time of my team leader, who had to sit and wait for me while everyone else did PT. Missing
movement not only cost me more time in the end, it cost the whole rest of the unit in one way or
another. Timeliness is also the first step in a soldiers task to keep accountability at all times.
Accountability is defined by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By not being able to do something as simple as 10 minutes prior, the soldier can potentially affect the
work of an entire office full of people.
Most important information pertaining to the unit is put out at morning formations, STTs, and
Commanders Calls. Being late to any of these events can not only bring adverse action against a
soldier for that event, it could also cause the soldier to miss pertinent information about upcoming
events; potentially causing more corrective training or even UCMJ action. Article 87 of the Code of
Military Justice Missing Movement states any member of the armed forces who neglect or design to
miss the movement of a ship, aircraft, or unit with which they are required in the course of duty to
move can be punished as a court martial may direct . Untimliness is not only a detriment to the
strategic environment; it can be life altering in the tactical environment. Failure to maintain proper
timelines and accountability of soldiers and equipment during field exercises can result in accidents
and loss of government property. The army has another saying train how you fight , meaning to treat
every exercise just as if it were a real life combat situation so that a soldier would know exactly what
they needed to do if that situation actually came to be. Inability to be on time for training events hit
times, etc; shows that a soldier could potentially not be reliable in a more serious situation. This

Learning Theory, Prior Attachment Experience Within Early...
Within this essay there will be a consideration to one key element in detail, with the intention of
describing a successful mathematics lesson; with reference to relevant learning theory, prior
attachment experience within early years and educational reporters.
A mathematics lesson has many key elements to make it successful within an educational setting, such
as hands on learning, the use of resources and use of assessment. This essay will have a core focus on
children learning through play with regard to Development Matters. (Early Education, 2012).
When planning practical learning activities, practitioners may come across some difficulties with
regards to equal learning opportunities (Atherton, 2013). These issues may include but are not limited
to effective differentiation, assessment and different learning styles. It can be suggested from
observations on attachment, it is apparent that adapting learning activities to suit the needs of all
children can be difficult but these activities can be adapted such as when using number during play,
bigger numbers can be used for the higher ability and smaller numbers for the lower ability, Visser
(1993) concurs, stating that teachers can meet the need for progress by selecting appropriate teaching
methods to match the individual pupil s learning strategies, within a classroom setting.
As children grow they will develop their own, individual learning style and this can be difficult for
teachers to provide for, especially in an

Personal, Social And Institutional Power
1. Define personal, social and institutional power. Give an example of each type of power that is
displayed in the movie.
a. Personal power is the degree of control an individual has over their own decisions. In Remember
the Titans, an example of personal power was when the white boy made a decision to start a fight with
Petey Jones (a black boy) because Petey was talking to his girlfriend and threw the first punch.
b. Social power is expressed in the way different people relate to each other, or in social dynamics .
An example of social power in the film is when the white team captain, Gerry Bertier took the advice
of his fellow teammate and black team captain when he disciplined one of his team members for not
defending adequately.
c. Institutional power is when some people have authority over others because of their position of
responsibility, usually based on their expertise or experience. Institutional power is when Coach
Herman Boone says, This is no democracy. It is a dictatorship. I am the law, as he is the head of power
in the football team and was asserting his dominance.
2. Belonging, stereotyping and discrimination are 3 key issues explored in Remember the Titans. Why
is it important for young people to develop an understanding of these three concepts in today s
society? (Link your response with examples from the movie and/or personal experience.)
It is essential for adolescents to acquire an awareness of belonging, stereotyping and discrimination as

Behavioral Mimicry in Superior Subordinate Exchanges
Introduction
Communication extends far past the act of speaking. From the time we are born, we communicate
with the people around us without having language as a medium. Instead, babies convey their
thoughts, emotions, wants, and needs with their face and body. As babies turn into children, and
children into adults, this facet of communication is marginalized and body language seems to become
something far less important than spoken language. Subconsciously, however, the ways other s bodies
and faces are held have a great impact on the way people interpret words. One nuanced aspect of body
language is behavioral mimicry s place in forming bonds between people. This paper will discuss the
effects, and a potential application, of unconscious mirroring and mimicking in social interactions. To
clarify any confusion, usage of mirroring and mimicking are synonymous throughout the paper.
Unconscious mirroring would not be possible without body language. This unspoken communication
is most commonly split up into two classifications: facial cues, and bodily cues or movements.
Unfortunately, the complexity of human movements has yielded experiments that operationalize each
drastically differently. For simplicity, we will use Peter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Severity Of Parkinson s Disease
Muhamad Ali, Michael J. Fox, and Linda Ronstadt are just a few celebrities that have been diagnosed
with a disease called Parkinson s. Most people have heard the name of this disease but do not exactly
know what it is. Although it is not well known, it is a very common neurodegenerative disease. Much
of the information about Parkinson s is not prominent, although the disease is the second most
common of its kind, next to Alzheimer s (Surguchov, 2013, p.116). The disease can be debilitating if
not treated properly. Because PD is such a real issue, efforts to research its cause and treatment have
been extensive and continue to be. Only one medication known to ease the suffering of its victims has
been found effective thus far (Surguchov, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Symptom severity varies person to person and early signs sometimes go unnoticed. Usually the
symptoms will begin unilaterally and eventually progress to both sides, with the original side
remaining worse (Tagliati, 2007). People with PD also have a slumped posture with an abnormally
slow gait with shuffling feet. They also may suffer from an issue called freezing. Freezing causes the
person to be frozen in place involuntarily for a moment (National Parkinson s Foundation). Because
Parkinson s causes bradykinesia, or slowing in motion, everyday task take more energy and time to
complete. Tasks that seem simple to the healthy individual like getting out of bed is an
accomplishment to those suffering with this disease. Not only does Parkinson s take away your ability
to control your muscles, it also affects the control of your mind. These non motor symptoms cause
disabilities as well as lower the health related quality of life for patients who are affected (Chaudhuri,
2011). Developing neuropsychiatric and other non motor symptoms is not uncommon. Depression,
anxiety, reduced cognitive function, insomnia, fatigue, and autonomic disturbances have been found in
these patients (Poewe). Dementia is another major concern when dealing with Parkinson s patients.
The incidence of dementia occurring is close to eighty percent (Parkinson s, 2010). Risk factors for

new Jersey cannot afford. Several of the articles discussed the aspect of cost, from electricity, to
janitorial services, to adding additional meals and meals cost, along with salary and supplies. Cost are

Circular Economy Conceptualization, Fundamental Principles...
Faced with the evidence, that finite resources are being depleted; that we are using more than we can
replace (D. Meadows et al. 1972); and that climate change is likely to worsen the situation for many
people of the world (Stott et al. 2010), business models have to change toward a more sustainable way
of living, manufacturing and consuming; moving away from neoclassical industrial approaches. This
represent the need for a fundamental conceptual shift away from current take make dispose system,
which generate toxic, one way, cradle to grave material flows, moving toward a cradle to cradle
system that can be conceptualized and represented in the Circular Economy; integrating economic
activity and environmental welfare in a sustainable way.
Therefore, the aim of this paper is to concentrate on circular economy conceptualization, fundamental
principles and design process. Exploring some of the strengths and weaknesses in its application in
contemporary business practice, that assisted in proposing and identifying five business models that
can contribute in realizing circular businesses using recent case studies. Showing that potential
sustainable development contributions can be gained, but substantive revision aspects are
recommended, due to the lack of concerns related to barriers and other factors discussed on the
implementation.

Television s Effect On Children
Television a Tool for Education or a Harmful Obstacle
Television is it a tool for education or a distraction that is an obstacle? Television is often blamed for
having a harmful effect on children. Is this true or is it a hoax, there has been repeated studies and
theory s on the effects of TV on children and adults.
Television was designed for entertainment and to relax and to inform the masses. Back in the 1900s
TV was a rare item in a house hold but. According to the website Salon.com Sociologist Robert
Putnam in Bowling Alone (2000) reported that in 1950, about 10 percent of American homes had
television sets, but this has grown to more than 99 percent over the 50 years. Nearly every home in the
United States has a TV set inside their home. Putnam also reported that the number of TVs in the
average U.S. household had grown to 2.25 sets, with 66 percent of households having three or more
sets; the TV set is turned on in the average U.S. home for seven hours a day; two thirds of Americans
regularly watch TV during dinner; and about 40 percent of Americans leisure time is spent on
television. Time that could be spent on more productive activities, especially when it applies to small
children.
TV can harm the child however it has been used as an educational tool as well. The creation of one of
the first educational programs was Sesame Street, with Elmo and his friends. This program entertained

Analysis Of Flamingo By Jennifer Price
In Jennifer Price s The Plastic Flamingo she illustrates the cultural impact the pink flamingo had on
the United States. Price conforms her idea of the United State s culture by providing important
historical details to better portray and reveal the true passions of America during the rapid rise of the
plastic flamingo. Price s overall view towards the United States would be that Americans are self
conceited and obsessed with wealth. In the first passage Price describes the growing population of the
flamingo, throughout the United states, starting in Miami. Price uses historical context to emphasize
the central idea that flamingos had a rapid growth in a short period of time. She uses the quote, In the
1910s and 1920s, Miami beach s first grand hotel, The Flamingo, had made the bird synonymous with
wealth and pizzazz. to show how the growing fad would start. The quote, Since the 1930s ,
vacationing Americans had been flocking to Florida and returning home with flamingo souvenirs.
illustrates that after the hotel had been built, Americans instantly caught on to flamingos, most likely
because it symbolized wealth. The historical context portrays that Americans are obsessed with wealth
and strive to climb higher on the social ranking ladder. This ultimately reveals Price s view towards
the United States as materialistic and wealth hungry.
In the second passage Price continues the timeline of the flamingo popularity. Price starts off the
paragraph by introducing irony to

The first definition mentions external environment to adapt. The second one declares the

meaning about workforce flexibility and its advantages will be drawn out.
3. Model explanation: Figure 1 Atkinson model workforce flexibility
To reflect the workforce flexibility, Atkinson (1894) came up with the model which also comprises
ways in which flexibility can be shown. Flexibility can be seen on part time jobs. This is applied for
many employees being students at school in both Vietnam and other countries. This kind of employee
need time for studying and still consider them to be able to contribute to labor force for extra money.
Part time job is one of the choices when employers only have to spend fewer hours compared to full
time jobs of working (Dutta, n.d). Or employees can seek for job sharing workplace in which 2 people
share the same job/task. Job sharing is basically a form of part time work that provides staff with the
equivalent of one full time employee while giving the job sharing employees the ability to keep their
careers on track while allowing more time for family responsibilities or other activities (Entrepreneur,
n.d). Working under these kinds of jobs gives employees enough time to balance all their
commitments. In other words,

Descriptive Essay About A Birthday
Daddy s home! I yelled from the couch in front of the window where I was waiting for him.
I unlocked the front door and ran as fast as I could towards him, embracing him in a hug, Daddy!
He knelt down so that his eyes were level with mine and said with a mischievous smile, I have a

What is it? what is it? I pleaded.
It s a birthday present, but we have to wait for mommy, cause I know she ll want to be there when you

Okay, I replied slightly disappointed.
Let s go inside, it s going to get dark soon.
Okay, daddy.
He stood up and opened the passenger side door and got a huge box, wrapped in pink wrapping paper
off the seat and took it inside, while I marveled at size of the box and pondering what it could be.
I stepped inside and closed the door, Mommy! Daddy got me a present! Did you see it?
Yeah, I did! I wonder what it could be, she added with that loving smile that only she could give.
I sat down on the couch, in front of the pile of presents on the coffee table, with the bigger presents on
the floor. In the kitchen I could see a cake with many frosted and colorful flowers on it and a big

Can we do presents now? I asked with excitement.

Analysis Of George Orwell s Animal Farm
1A. Mr. Jones is a significant character because his actions and bad deeds provoked the animal
rebellion, similarly to how Tsar Nicholas II ignorance led his abdication, ending the Romanov rule and
replacing it with the new Bolshevik government (Krieger 185). Moreover, in the story, the animals
replaced what used to be Manor Farm to Animal Farm , and Orwell does this to resemble the
transformation of Russia s government. There are other events in the story that parallel the true events
that resemble Tsar Nicholas. For example, similarly to how Nicholas II failed to help the Russian

1C. In the story, Snowball is Leon Trotsky given that he and Joseph Stalin were for a period of time
leaders of Communist Russia, just as Snowball and Napoleon were of Animal Farm. Moreover, there
are many specific events that occur in the story that parallel the two Communist leaders. Take
Snowball s purge as an example; in this situation, Napoleon had eliminated Snowball because they
often argued and had many disputes (Orwell 71). Similarly, Joseph Stalin had purged Trotsky out of
the Soviet Union because of the power struggle between the two, after Vladimir Lenin had died
(Krieger 201). Moreover, before Snowball s expulsion, Napoleon had him arrested and portrayed him
as a threatening figure; Snowball... was no better than a criminal (Orwell 69). Similarly, Stalin and his
followers arrested Trotsky because they had seen him as a major threat (Biography, Leon Trotsky ).

Keeping A Dialectic Journal Extremely Mind Opening
I found this experience of keeping a dialectic journal extremely mind opening. I had been keeping a
journal for a few weeks before this assignment began. For those who may not know a dialectic journal
is when for a set number of days a person free writes for a set amount of time, and then for an equal
number or days responds to what they wrote. My focus was supposed to be a tomato, but I quickly
realized that the tomato was only there to begin the conversation. I have always been a person who is
inside their head more often than not, which made some of the entries begin to come from a darker
room within my mind. When I started writing this journal I was okay with the assignment, and it was
fun to come up with the story of Alfredo. Soon after however, my entries started to get more and more
about myself. I jokingly write at one point that if this journal does not end in psych evaluation I did
not do my job correctly , little did I know that the depressive side of my mind would soon bring that
into a possibility. I have bipolar disorder and spend most of the last 4 days writing about it, I found
that putting words on paper helped somewhat. I also found that putting the words on paper became
easier as I wrote more

  • 2. High School With Female And Male Learners With Special... Where/what is the research site? The site for this study will be a local high school with both female and male learners with Special Education Needs (SEN) and learning disability. The research will target or focus on one of the schools with a high number of disabled students to ensure the statistics taken are more conclusive for the study. Together with the school administration, 9 12th grade teachers, students, and counselors we will attempt to come up with the best and efficient mode of conducting the research. Addressing the issue of young people with disabilities requires the inclusion of a larger audience such as the students, teachers, and administrators (Supports Center, 2004). According to Milsom, counselor s assigned the role of preparing students for the job and life outside school has failed to adequately present the disabled students with skills to cope with life after school (2002). The research records the type of instruction and skills taught to the students, looking for the relation of the information and survival in the outside world. The study will collect data by asking the students questions related to survival outside the school and rate students according to the level of preparedness. Through such information, the research can offer a clear understanding of the issue to be discussed as well as the culture in the schools today concerning their ability to prepare learners for employment environment and real life after school. • 3. Simone Dubnow s Pale Of Settlement The largest immigration of Jewish citizens to Eastern Europe occurred between 965 and 1795. From 1772 to 1795 Russia expanded its territories westward. Czarist Catherine the Great encouraged Russian territorial expansion in 1772. She pushed the Border of Russia into the weak and under developed Commonwealth of Polish Lithuania. Lithuania, Belarus, Poland and the Ukraine were all part of Polish Lithuania. After acquiring new territory, the Russian nobility needed to decide how to deal with a new culturally diverse citizenry. The Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth lands acquired in the 1700 s, contained significant populations of Jewish citizens, which was a problem since the Russian Empire did not support religious practices outside of Eastern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jews were charged with killing Christian children to use their blood for making unleavened bread (matzah) for Passover. Blood libels peppered Europe throughout the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, as well as the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Jews were accused during the thirteen through sixteenth centuries of desecrating the Host, the blessed bread distributed during the Eucharist. In the fourteenth century famines and plaques struck Western Europe with a vengeance, in reaction to the problem many kings blamed and expelled the Jews from countries like, Spain, Germany, France, and Hungary. • 4. Essay on Dealing with Aggression Dealing with Aggression Abstract We live in a society where aggressive acts happen every day, but do we really know what causes it? How can we help ourselves and others to understand what aggression is? First off, we need to define aggression, tell it s causes and effects and determine the best way to deal with it. For example, aggression can be positive or negative, accidental or intended and physical or mental. Aggression is a continuing behavior in our world today and I feel that it is very important that we try to start controlling it now. Aggression is a critical part of animal existence, which is a driving force to humans, as we too are animals. The source of aggression within humans is an ongoing list so therefore, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Aggression can fall under a number of forms. Due to its relative nature, aggression is extremely hard to isolate and study. A major distinction made in animal studies of aggression, and one that may well have profound implications for human aggression, is the difference between offensive and defensive aggression (Feshbach, Zagrodzka 1997). Much research has already been done indicating that different brain sites mediate predation and defensive aggression. Aggression can take many different paths. The act of hitting a wall to release aggression has some of the same roots as playing football and enjoying hitting the quarterback. A child yelling at their parents could be equated in its aggressiveness with someone honking their horn when they get cut off driving. Psychologist Arlene Stillwell performed an experiment where she assigned ordinary college students at random to play the role of a victim or a perpetrator in a small incident. Then she asked the students to describe the situation that had just happened. What she found was that both victims and perpetrators deformed the truth equally to present their sides in a better light. Victims would dwell on their lasting traumas from the incident while the perpetrator might make the act seem like a one time action provoked by insurmountable circumstances. The resulting implication is that aggression is in the eye of the beholder ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Speech On Our Road Sense Don t we all remember that famous advertisement by a tyre company where a couple enjoying a late night ride on their bike are almost rammed into by a car which takes a wrong turn and they are saved just in time because of the superior tyres? Or the one where a careless guy with a baby in a pram is talking over the mobile phone while he crosses the road and is almost run over a biker but for his good brakes and tyres? And to top it all, the one with the pram swears at the biker instead of apologizing and owning up his fault! I could cite a whole book full of such scenarios that aptly describe India s road sense. The street are indeed filled with idiots, be it out of lack of civic sense or otherwise. And what s even more annoying is the fact that we tend not to care much about it and take it all in stride as something very normal. It is said that just knowing what is wrong lays the foundation of the future right (if any). Here is a compilation of the sad state of our road sense (remember, brevity is a virtue which really tested me here, trying to come up with as few examples as I could, given our inconspicuous road sense). HORN NOT OK PLEASE! (A discussion of how Socrates was influential and intriguing using Plato s Republic) To learn about the past, people in today s society often consult the internet or history books. To an extent, all we know about the past is from what we have read or heard, so what is actually truth, and what is just a captivating story. Scholars believe that some people from history are just made up to portray ideals or tell a story with an important message. Socrates was a real man, but some scholars believe that some of Socrates beliefs are truly just Plato, his student, writing things and saying that Socrates believed in them. The world today has virtually no idea whether Socrates believed everything that is recorded in Plato s Republic. Socrates, as portrayed in Plato s Republic, is extremely intriguing because of the way he communicates with people with his sarcasm and use of his Socratic method to teach. In Plato s Republic, Socrates is portrayed as a man who answers everything in a way that avoids actually answering any questions. Socrates wants the people he is talking with to think for themselves so he never gives a definitive answer when asked a question. Instead of talking clearly, Socrates talks with thick sarcasm. Holding a conversation with someone is a sort of game to Socrates, so almost everything he says is shrouded with sarcasm and double meanings. • 11. Manifest Destiny Essay I shall never forget the impression which our first landing on the beach of California made upon me, Richard Henry Dana fondly recalls in his book, Two Years Before The Mast (60). In 1834 Dana, a nineteen year old law student, set sail from Boston to California, by way of Cape Corn. When Dana set sail on the Pilgrim he could have never conceptualized that which he would encounter nor could the Spaniards and Indians foresee the ramifications of his journey to their coast. Six years later, he would publish his book, a memoir of his experience, that would ultimately persuade many into settling on the California coast. Two years Before The Mast depicted the land as not only wonderful, but also uninhabited. Furthermore, he explained why the Spaniards were undeserving of the land. Not only were they squandering California s potential, but they were creating a negative quality of life for the Indians which were treated as lower than them. In Dana s mind, Americans were the only people capable of bringing the coast to life. This mentality of condemnation of other cultures and self importance was a perfect example of the attitude which would be coined as Manifest Destiny in 1848. This was the belief that by the will of God, fate, nature, or any other means, America was destined to expand westward and reach its full power. Essentially, any excuse that could be given to take control over land was explained away as a positive. For California, depending on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Othello Racial Undertone Essay Nicholas Anderson Dr. Rex English 150 2/27/2014 Racial Undertone s The study in contrasts between Shakespeare s Othello and Tim Blake Nelson s 2001 movie O have many prevalent differences. Issues of jealousy and racial tensions are still deeply rooted into our society and can be examined in theO, Othello, and the Elizabethan era where many of Shakespeare s plays took place. The racial undertone was more prevalent in the movie, although in each interpretation Othello/Odin was the only black individual in each setting. However the most prevalent differences between William Shakespeare s Othello and Tim Blake Nelson s O are the racial undertones shown through cinematic techniques and Othello/Odin s self perception. The director used cinematic techniques and different stereotypes to explore the racial tension between white and black society. Hugo explains the meaning of the hawk in his soliloquy towards the end of the movie. He expresses the thought that Odin is a powerful and majestic hawk, this is something that Hugo desires. Which is controversial because in Othello and O black males usually had aspirations to be seen as a dove. However the image of a black male does not fit into a white ... • 23. A Master Mind By Napoleon Hill The term mastermind is a current buzzword among entrepreneurs. Although it might be nice to have a supergenius like Lex Luthor on your side, the term mastermind, in the context of business, has nothing to do with comic book supervillains. The term was first coined by Napoleon Hill in his famous 1925 book The Law of Success. In the book, a master mind (two words at that time) was his way of describing the benefits of cooperation among business colleagues. The book itself was a good example of the power of a mastermind, as it was derived from interviews with over 100 of the most highly successful millionaire business people at that time. Fast forward to the 21st century, and the term is still popular, although the meaning has changed somewhat. Today the term mastermind refers to a group of entrepreneurs that come together to lend support and share various resources of knowledge, contacts and opportunities. There are many kinds of masterminds. Some have membership dues and some are free. Some are more specifically geared toward specific industries or demographics, while others are completely open. Within this essay there will be a consideration to one key element in detail, with the intention of describing a successful mathematics lesson; with reference to relevant learning theory, prior attachment experience within early years and educational reporters. A mathematics lesson has many key elements to make it successful within an educational setting, such as hands on learning, the use of resources and use of assessment. This essay will have a core focus on children learning through play with regard to Development Matters. (Early Education, 2012). When planning practical learning activities, practitioners may come across some difficulties with regards to equal learning opportunities (Atherton, 2013). Personal power is the degree of control an individual has over their own decisions. In Remember the Titans, an example of personal power was when the white boy made a decision to start a fight with Petey Jones (a black boy) because Petey was talking to his girlfriend and threw the first punch. b. Social power is expressed in the way different people relate to each other, or in social dynamics . An example of social power in the film is when the white team captain, Gerry Bertier took the advice of his fellow teammate and black team captain when he disciplined one of his team members for not defending adequately. c. Institutional power is when some people have authority over others because of their position of responsibility, usually based on their expertise or experience. Institutional power is when Coach Herman Boone says, This is no democracy. It is a dictatorship. I am the law, as he is the head of power in the football team and was asserting his dominance. 2. Superior-Subordinate Exchanges ERIC LIU A92044372 COGS 14A W16 PROFESSOR ROSSANO Behavioral Mimicry in Superior Subordinate Exchanges Introduction Communication extends far past the act of speaking. From the time we are born, we communicate with the people around us without having language as a medium. Instead, babies convey their thoughts, emotions, wants, and needs with their face and body. As babies turn into children, and children into adults, this facet of communication is marginalized and body language seems to become something far less important than spoken language. Subconsciously, however, the ways other s bodies and faces are held have a great impact on the way people interpret words. One nuanced aspect of body language is behavioral mimicry s place in forming bonds between people. This paper will discuss the effects, and a potential application, of unconscious mirroring and mimicking in social interactions. To clarify any confusion, usage of mirroring and mimicking are synonymous throughout the paper. Unconscious mirroring would not be possible without body language. This unspoken communication is most commonly split up into two classifications: facial cues, and bodily cues or movements. Unfortunately, the complexity of human movements has yielded experiments that operationalize each drastically differently. For simplicity, we will use Peter ... The quote, Since the 1930s , vacationing Americans had been flocking to Florida and returning home with flamingo souvenirs. illustrates that after the hotel had been built, Americans instantly caught on to flamingos, most likely because it symbolized wealth. The historical context portrays that Americans are obsessed with wealth and strive to climb higher on the social ranking ladder.
