Difficulties In The Outsiders
Many teens today face many difficulties similar to the teens in the novel The Outsiders in their
everyday life. It can be very hard for teens and some adults don t do enough to help them. Three
of the many difficulties teens today and teens in The Outsiders are lack of sleep, mental abuse,
and relationships. Every teenager have problems, not just one and adults aren t doing enough to
help these teens to get through them. Many teens struggle with lack of sleep due to having a
tremendous amount of homework. Homework is one of the main things that lead to teenage
stress. It keeps kids from doing what they enjoy and what interests them, they end up staying up
all night trying to finish. Various teens also have to do sports or after school activities. Although,
these activities are fun it takes up a lot of their time. While combining homework and sports
leaves no time for friends to come over and hangout. Now the last thing is texting with friends or
also known as gossip. Teens love to gossip so after they get all of their homework done they go to
bed and txt and before they know it its 12:00am.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kid s everyday get bullied, made fun of, and teased. Being bullied is not a good feeling, it takes
away your self esteem and often leads to depression. Sometimes it goes far enough that kids
choose take their own life because of the things that are happening at school. Another thing is their
body image or reputation, some care to much about how they look and what people think of them.
They get into binge eating, weight loss pills, and many other harmful things to their bodies.
Finally, there is peer pressure, friends persuade people to do things they normally wouldn t do.
They are easy to be manipulated because of the friendship the two have. Peer pressure can really
hurt yourself and others. The result can be drugs, alcohol, or even sexual

My Personal Leadership Challenge Analysis
The new ways of thinking that will help me to readdress my personal leadership challenge involves
better understanding the concepts of values based leadership, situational leadership, and style,
skills, and trait approaches to leadership.
Values based leadership revolves around how the values that people have, influence the decisions
they make and the actions they take. Northouse mentions that because leaders usually have more
power and control than followers, they also have more responsibility to be sensitive to how their
leadership affects followers lives (2013, p. 428). Due to this strong statement, working to further
understand the major types of values that relate to leadership will be important for me to pin
point which values my supervisor distinctively displays and which values he does not. Being
able to understand this information is key as values are important to understanding leadership
because they explain the focus and direction of peoples actions (Fernandez Hogan, 2002) and in
this case, my supervisor s actions. Two values that are particularly interesting are the values of
being just and being respectful. My supervisor strongly portrays the value of equality as he
make[s] it a top priority to treat all of [his] subordinates in an equal manner (Northouse, 2013,
p.433). He displays this when he gathers all instructors for a talk before we go to teach swimming
lessons. On the contrary, although my supervisor has passion, he can come off as being ignorant

At first, I understood the basic principles of what accountants do and how they work. Secondly I
took another step toward my profession by learning some key terms in accounting and improving
my way of thinking about how businesses work. I was amazed by how meticulous accountants
should be, because even the slightest mistake may get a person or even a company in a lot of
troubles.
I believe that my experience during the course helped me improve not only my knowledge and
perception about accounting and the world in general, but also group assignments were a good
practice in communication and teambuilding. In both groups, where I have participated during this
semester, everyone worked on equal conditions. We were trying to assign duties among ourselves
by mutual consent and personal abilities. We were learning from our mistakes, and I believe that
this experience was a worthy investment in our future lives.
Finally, BUS 220 was the most exciting and enjoyable course in this semester for me among other
business courses that I ve taken. Now I do not doubt that Business Administration is a right major

The Manhattan Project Led By J. Robert Oppenheimer
The Manhattan Project led by J. Robert Oppenheimer was the sole responsibility of the most

atomic bombs that destroyed Hiroshima and Nagasaki, arguably started the war like encounter, the
cold war, sparking conflicts and bills that would affect future for centuries to come, and starting a
nuclear arms race between the United States and Russia. Firstly, with substantiation from the many
lives claimed by the atomic bombs, was this an instance in which the US had to explore a lot of

To touch on J. Robert Oppenheimer, it should be shown off a lot about him he was a true genius,

The KCOM Group VRIO Analysis
The KCOM Group VRIO Analysis
The core competency of our laggard, KCOM, is their strong focus on customers; KCOM s entire
organization is structured around the market they serve in order to deliver a high quality customer
experience. The Group focuses not solely on providing low cost for their customer s like TalkTalk
Telecom, but on listening closely to their customer s needs, in turn creating long term customer
relationships. Using Barney s VRIO analytic framework to assess this competency yields the
following:
VALUE? Yes, KCOM s focus on the customer provides an obvious customer value and competitive
advantage amongst its competitors.
RARENESS? Of course KCOM Group isn t the only wireless communication company that focuses
on their customers, but their focus on the customer operates at every level throughout the Group.
IMITABILITY? It isn t costly to focus on customers, but a goodstrategy must be in place in order
for it to be done correctly.
ORGANIZATION? Yes, KCOM as structured their organization around the distinct markets they
serve to deliver a high quality customer experience.
The KCOM Group s distinctive competency is their strategic relationship with BT Wholesale and

Before World War II, the Chinese immigrants to the U.S had many characteristics. First, the Chinese
immigrants mainly came from mainland China, such as the Guangdong province. The Chinese

Also, they were undesirable workers in America. Therefore, one of the characteristics of the
Chinese immigrants was that they were mainly male.
Besides the Page Law, the Chinese exclusion act of 1882 affected the characteristics of Chinese
immigrants the most. In 1882, Chinese people were excluded because they became a threat to
American society. Under the Chinese exclusion act, the number of Chinese was decreased and the
bachelor society was formed. The bachelor society was a reaction to the Chinese exclusion act and a
shelter for Chinese people to live in. A great example of bachelor society is Chinatown. Because of
the influence of the Chinese exclusion act of 1882, Chinese immigrants concentrated in Chinatown
and had special characteristics. In Chinatown, the first characteristic of the Chinese immigrants
were mostly men because Chinese women were excluded. Besides, most Chinese immigrants
formed split households in Chinatown because the Chinese exclusion act prohibited the Chinese
family unification and the interracial marriage between White and Chinese.
Second, the Chinese exclusion act of 1882 caused many illegal Chinese immigrants in America.
The illegal Chinese immigrants were assisted by the CCBA or the six company and entered
America illegally. According to article, the six company, as a transnational Chinese, directed and
managed the illicit smuggling business. For instance, the Chinese immigrants arrived in

Hr Role In The Military Profession
No one is more professional than I, I am a Noncommissioned Officer, a leader of Soldiers . The
NCO creed tells us that the expectation is to be professional. What does being professional consist
of? The Army is an American Profession of Arms, a vocation comprised of experts certified in the
ethical application of land combat power, serving under civilian authority, entrusted to defend the
Constitution and the right and interests of the American people. In this essay, I will identify the
importance of the role of Human Resources (HR) Sergeant in the Profession of Arms.
As you look at the Army and think of it as a profession of Arms, you have to look at the balancing
roles of professional leaders. First, is the role of the strategic leaders, they balance the relationship
between the Army s four fields of expertise and its current and potential future operating
environment. The second area of balance is the relationship between the Army s culture and climate
and its institutional practices. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

pledge an oath we took when we decided to serve as a HR Sergeant. As a member of this special
profession I have experienced frustrations when Soldier have not been informed, but have had the

Summary Of Exposure To Violent Crime
Furthermore, evidence as been shown that an individual being exposed to a violent crime within
a specific time period of an assessment ensures them a lower mark. Sharkey, Schwartz, Ellen,
Lacoe (2014) affirm, Black students who are exposed to violent crime in the week prior to the
exam are 2.8 percentage points less likely to pass the exam than black students exposed to violent
crimein the week following the exam, (p. 211). This exposure to crime and lower grades does not
diminish with time. An assumption can be formulated that an exposure over time can perhaps make
an individual immune to some the issues. However, this is assumption is mistaken in that there is
know decline in the negative effects of exposure to crime. McCoy, Roy,

Explain Finnis’ Natural Law Theory Essay
Explain Finnis Natural Law Theory (30 marks)
John Finnis, an Australian legal philosopher has tried to resurrect the natural law tradition in moral
philosophy and law since the mid 1960s. He tries to offer a neo Aquinian natural law philosophy
which does not presuppose a divine being. By focusing attention on goods rather than a single
Good, Finnis skilfully articulates what he calls a theory of moral action for our day. Or, in other
words, he seeks a theory of how to live well. Finnis identifies a number of equally valuable basic
goods or ends, given human nature, there are seven. Three are substantive, existing prior to action
and four are reflexive which is depending on our choices.
The first is human life, including every aspect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Finnis acknowledges that it may not be possible to embrace some of basic goods as
wholesomely as others, one should leave them open to all.
Similar to the second principle, the third is no arbitrary preferences among persons, to respect the
intrinsic integrity of each individual in treating people always as ends in themselves and never as
mere means. This is often referred to as the second formulation of Kant s Categorical Imperative.
The fourth is equilibrium between detachment and commitment, detachment prohibits fatalism or
obsession with specific projects, ensuring life is not drained of meaning if your objective eludes
you. Commitment prescribes that someone engages in projects and pursues them beyond
hardship. You should expand their horizons in seeking out creative ways to pursue their
enterprises or we needlessly waste opportunities for fulfilment. Principle five discusses the
consequences of a decision in particular, the limited relevance of consequences. This principle
speaks to the need for efficiency in pursuit of definite goals. Finnis rejects utilitarian reasoning as
senseless and unworkable because the basic forms of human good are incommensurable . Finnis
holds that the rational agent will prefer less rather than greater damage to a basic good in single
act. The sixth principle of the nine principles of practical reasonableness is respect for every basic
value in every act. Finnis holds that in every act one must respect all

Aldous Huxley s A Brave New World
Aldous Huxley has presented us a compelling story in the 20th century called a Brave New
World. One of the most notable dystopian novels, it calls for a reader to conceptualize a world, in
which society and science are synonymous with each other, history had faded far into obscurity,
and Henry Ford, the creator of the assembly line, becomes a deity to many uniformed individuals.
The book was about how humans are no longer created by the conventional means of mating, rather
artificially, through the process of separating the ovaries and the sperm cells, and utilizing certain
embryos in a biological process called Bokanovskification, the act of stimulating an embryo to
undergo a mitotic process in which the end result being that up to 96... Show more content on

Thus, in our contemporary world that we live in, some could surmise and contend that this book
depicted society culminating to this point right now. As we progress throughout the society s
continuous developments, there is reasonable evidence to conclude that Huxley s dystopian novel
was his premonitions and envisioning that society would be more centric to our technologies and
science, as well as other factors, whilst losing sense of morality. One aspect of the novel that he
would portray over our contemporary society is the oversaturation of technology in the story. For
example, this could be showcased in this quote: ...appalled by the rushing emptiness of the
night...so haggard and distracted among the hastening clouds. (Huxley, p.91). This quote reveals to
the reader that being an observer of nature has some stigma connotated towards it. In essence, it is
looked down upon, as the quote the succeeded it, one of characters urged to turn on the radio, as it
was detracting her from the norms of her society. Another major aspect of technology, as mentioned
previously, was cloning in society. There were many experiments performed on the cloned embryos
as well as attempting to homologate them to the respective castes. For example, the deprivation of
an embryo of a human at seventy percent you got dwarfs. (Huxley, p.14). This is just one of the
multitude of experimentations that have been undergone in order to keep the caste system stable,

Blue Whale Adaptations
Despite its abundance, in quantity the blue whale is now considered to be an endangered species.
Blue Whales have been hunted for centuries, they can also be found in most oceans and because of
this they make an easy target for hunters. A unique feature of the Blue Whale is that they are the
largest mammalin existence they can grow up to 30 meters long and weigh up to 190 tons. Due to
its size they are the hunter s ultimate prize hence why they are endangered. Despite its size, its diet
consists of some of the smallest marine life such as, krill, shrimp and so on.
(Zach s Introduction.)
There are at least three distinct subspecies. The Blue Whale is found in the Indian Ocean and
South Pacific Ocean. Its habitat prefers the open ocean but can sometimes be seen offshore of
coastal states. The change in ocean temperature would also affect the blue whale s food supply.
Stated are three main regions for the Blue Whale which are North Pacific Atlantic also The

Filial Piety In A Devoted Son
Filial Piety in A Devoted Son A Devoted Son is the story of Rakesh, a young Indian man and the
relationship with his family. He receives top honors at school, accolades from his American and
Indian comrades, rises to the director of the local hospital, and becomes the richest doctor in his
town. Critics argue this is Desai s comment about perfect Indian society, where adherence to filial
piety, respecting one s parents, elders, and ancestors, is paramount (Crane). Rakesh s view of it
leads to a breakdown in his relationship with his father. The father feels neglected by his family
because they no longer respect his wishes. To Rakesh, belief in protecting his family from the
ills of society, despite their temptation, proves his dedication to family (Desai). Filial piety in the
abstract is a good standard to live by, but it could lead to destruction because adhering to it
removes emotions. In the beginning, the relationship between Rakesh and his parents was an
admirable one. Rakesh considers his parents feelings prior to making major decisions. From
choosing a wife to becoming the primary caretaker to his father after his mother s death, Rakesh s
sole desire seems to make his parents proud. Though the author does not dwell on the concept of
filial piety regarding the mother, she shows her dedication to the family at the expense of her health.
The mother s death marks a change in the family. The old father very quickly went to pieces,
(Desai) and could not adjust

Hormones, Heredity, and Human Behavior

Why do people behave the way they do? What makes us tick? While our environment molds some
of who we are, much more comes from heredity and hormones. Genes passed on to us from our
parents make up heredity, and glands throughout the body produce hormones. As generations
progress, new psychological and behavioral traits are earned and learned. This paper will explain
hormones and the endocrine system, glands associated with the endocrine system, behavior
genetics, and evolutionary psychology.

Hypothyroidism often causes a person to sleep a lot, but the person is still tired. The parathyroids
are located within the thyroid, secrete parathormone, and controls levels of calcium and phosphates
in the body. The parathyroids are also involved with controlling excitability levels (Morris and
Maisto, 2002).
The pancreas is located between the stomach and small intestine, and secretes insulin and
glucagon to balance blood sugar levels in the body. When the pancreas does not work properly, a
person may be diagnosed with diabetes mellitus, which is more commonly known simply as
Diabetes (Morris and Maisto, 2002). People with diabetes suffer from extreme thirst, fatigue, lack
of or increased appetite, and a myriad of other symptoms if their condition is not controlled
properly with diet, exercise, and medications (if needed) (Steadman s Concise Medical Dictionary,
2001).
The gonads are the male and female reproductive organs, the testes (males) and ovaries (females).
The testes and ovaries produce androgens (testosterone) and estrogens, these hormones affect
aggressiveness, mood, and sexual interest and behavior. Higher levels of these hormones have been
shown to promote aggressiveness in both sexes (Morris and Maisto, 2002).
The last glands are the adrenal glands, which are located above the kidneys, and have an inner
core and an outer layer. The inner core is called the adrenal medulla, and the outer layer is known
as the adrenal cortex.

For example, before September 11, if a mother and her two children were traveling and running
late for the flight the airport attendants were willing to lend a helping hand. As the struggling
mother and children hurry to the ticket counter the airport personnel help with her bags, quickly
check her in, and ask as no questions. The attendant moves her to the front of the line, grabs her
bag and the baby carrier, and carries them through for her. Nothing is said about the nail file or the

Those days of helping a mother with two children are long gone. Instead, the government has

Americans. In her essay, Zeltser discusses how people are now examined with a fine tooth comb.
She talks about her brother recently returning from a vacation in Mexico. He was pulled aside and

kind to be protective measures?

Campaign Finance Reform Should Be Restricted And Monitored
In American society, campaign finance reform is continuously a topic of discussion. This year s

and Hilary Clinton is running for office. By this coming November, campaign spending for all
candidates spending for all candidates who ran in this year s election will be an estimated total of

first acknowledge that the current system is broken. Campaign finance should be restricted and

Understanding Thermal or Solar Heat Gain Coefficients
In order to understand the word thermal within a building, then SHGC which is solar heat gain
coefficients had to be known to known the property of thermal insulation and conductivity in a
whole manner. Solar heat gain coefficient is widely use in the United State in designing building.
SHGC may refer to the transmittance of solar energyof windows or even walls, every object can be
evaluate by using solar heatgain coefficient method by knowing the properties of each material.
If a material have high solar heat gain coefficient, then the material is a good absorbent of solar
heat. For material that is black in colour, inevitably it absorb heat faster because of the colour
doesn t reflect the wavelength that comes directly from the source of light. So, low e components
of a building that comes with low solar heat gain coefficient will reflect and keep heat source that
came from sunaway from the house and that will probably makes a house cooler. Solar heat gain
coefficient usually dealt with windows that possess a low e property. Low e may regard to the
emissivity of one s material. Nowadays window mostly is transparent, and that makes it vulnerable
for sunlight to penetrate easily into a house without any reflection. We have to be notice that if a
window is place facing the unsuitable direction such as west or east, it will have an adverse effect
towards the thermal comfort of a house especially terraced house in Malaysia that cant undergoes

When thinking about which theory to do for my theory of change experiential pop in my head
for more than one reasons. First reason, is this theory is the one that stands out for me the most.
Secondly, I wanted to research more about experiential theory, in order to form a better
understanding. Experiential therapy, is the type of theory that help encourage their client s to
become more aware of their hidden or subconscious issues through their experiences. The
therapist dose this by role playing and through imagery. Therefore, there are more than one way
for experiential therapist to help their client to be able to identify key issues in their life.
Furthermore, experiential allows there to be space for the client to open up and talk about their
experiences. By doing this it provide a safe haven for the client s to address their underlying
issues they have bottle deep inside of them. It also allows for them to have a place to share these
unsure emotions through their own experiences and how it had impacted not only them, but their
relationships with loved ones and or friends. Having this type awareness is vitally to this approach
and help them to further develop and grown from these experiences that provided them with the
opportunity to grow from them. The role of the therapist is, to help guide their client s to work
through their issues through the use of their experience. Therefore, as the therapist it s up to them

Respiratory Exchange Ratio Analysis
At rest our body s energy expenditure results from our basal metabolic rate (sleeping metabolic
rate) and our arousal (wakefulness). At the onset of exercise, VO2 cannot initially support or new
metabolic demands at sub maximal level, so an oxygen deficit is created and must be compensated
by our anaerobic metabolic systems. As exercise continues, for about 3 5 minutes, our aerobic
system syncs in and supplements VO2, and a steady state is achieved. Heartrate increases as
exercise increases in order to support an increase in VO2 and the metabolic demands required to
pump more blood; this represents and linear relationship. Heart rate and VO2 are also linearly
related, as the maintenance of a steady state during exercise is largely dependent on the heart s
ability to stimulate the metabolic activities that result in increased ventilation and a subsequent
increase in VO2.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This ratio is measured at the tissue level of the mouth or nose, and can be used to estimate RQ.
Respiratory quotient (RQ): is the proportion of carbon dioxide (CO2) produced, in relation the
amount of oxygen consumed by the body, at the cellular level, during exercise. We need to wait
until exercise reaches a steady state before we can use RER to estimate RQ because RER can be
used to calculate the number and type of calories being released when a liter of oxygen is used;
and at low levels more fat is consumed, while at higher intensities carbohydrates are consumed.
Waiting for a steady state to be achieved ensures us the proper estimation of the type of calorie being

America s Deep Puritan And Calvinist Roots
The early 1800s in America were a tumultuous time. Fresh off the Revolutionary War, America
was faced with the daunting task of finding her identity and creating new government and new
ways of life. This was also a time of great religious change, in that the Second Great Awakening
was sweeping the nation. America s deep Puritan and Calvinist roots were being challenged
head on as the Evangelicals spread a new message that salvation was no longer predestined, but
was available to all if one chose it. A great duality was emerging in the ideas of boundless
freedom versus the need for a central government, demand for security in the form of
Constitutional rights versus the hypocrisy that inferior races were not included as all men , and
the new idea that God s love was available to all instead of the chosen few. The shedding of old
ideas created a sense of excitement and possibility, yet also a fear of the unknown. If we apply
Mary Russell Mitford s observation that there are few things that give a completer [sic] picture of
the habits of living, and the ways of thinking of a foreign country, than it s lighter literature to this
period in American History, we get a sense of the loss of certainty, discontent, and hypocrisy that
was present at the time.

Hayek acknowledged trade cycles as monetary authorized by the government, a semi monopoly

central bank independently decides to cheapen credit, and expand the supply of loanable funds. In
like manner, investors become more optimistic in new technology they want to invest in. They

Sociology of the Body Pierre Bourdieu coins the term habitus to explain the role of the body in class
reproductive dynamics. Summarize his position Introduction Pierre Bourdieu s account of class
reproductive dynamics stems from his belief that your habitus dictates how your body engages in
the reproductive dynamics of class theory. This notion of habitus has become central to the studies
on social inequality. Bourdieu and Structuralism Bourdieu is a typical example of a structuralist.
Structuralism is concerned with macro theories and the functionalist school of thought along with
conflict theories, which were illustrated by Durkheim and Marx, respectively. Structure confines the
person to a certain area, and restrains them to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other words, the habitus enables sociologists, more or less, to resolve the troublesome dichotomy
between subject/object and structure/agency. The habitus is rooted in the body and exists through
the practice of actors and their interactions with each other and their environment. It does not
comprise manifestations of social behaviour but is integral to that behaviour and a combination of
the personal and the systemic (Jenkins 1992: 74) (Butler Robson, 2003, p 37) The power of habitus
derives from the thoughtlessness of habit and habituation, rather than consciously learned rules and
principles (Jenkins, 1992, p76) Reproduction Theory The reproduction theory, started by the left
Neo Marxist phase in the 60 s concentrates on the concept of ideology and the nature of capitalism
and the state apparatus The ideology of capitalism is what holds together the exploitative system of
social inequality. Schools are perpetuated by capitalism, which leads to a meritocracy society. All of
these class structures and inequalities are produced by institutional systems like education, religion
and family. These internal workings of such institutions send the tacit message that people are in the
place they deserve in society. This can be compared to the far right, chain of thought Thatcherism,

The Absurdity Of Venus By William Shakespeare
Shakespeare quickly manifests Venus as a desire driven being. In order to convince Adonis to give
in to her lust, Venus attempted to persuade Adonis with grand exaltation, forced contact, and even a
fraudulent fainting episode. All throughout these lustful demonstrations of love , Venus
hyperbolizes both her love for Adonis and his beauty. Despite her best efforts, Venus fails in her
efforts to gain both his love and lust. Furthermore, her falsified claims reveal to us a character
whose desire is not constructed as a stable force, but as an (...) attempt to reshape reality
(Stanivukovic 293). The absurdity of Venus acts hint at Shakespeare s attempt to implement Venus
as the personified emotion of desire . Her attempts to reshape the reality of Adonis disdain indicate
that a different force, more powerful than Venus lust, is preventing Adonis from complying. Many
events throughout the poem indicate nature s prominence as this preventive and controlling force.
Many indications that nature encompasses all lie within Venus coercion. Early on, Venus tries to
convince Adonis that failing to reproduce is an abuse of his gifted life: The first line argues against
individuals being selfish and living just for themselves quite ironic in itself given that she never
grows due to immortality. Whether she believes in what she says or says it to manipulate Adonis,
desire clearly controls her actions. Previewing her thoughts in the next stanza, the next two lines

Characteristics Of Understanding The Culture And Society...
The mother art is architecture. Without an architecture of our own we have no soul of our own
civilization.
Frank Lloyd Wright
Architecture is an important aspect of understanding the culture and society of any civilisation.
Today I will be looking what similarities and differences can be seen between the Minoan
architecture from 1900BC to 1150BC and the Roman architecture from 27BC to 180AD. I ll be
mainly focusing on the palaces of Knossos and Phaistos of Minoan, Crete and The Colosseum ad
the Pantheon of Rome.

Occupation continued in Knossos until 1200 BC when it was destroyed by fire, Knossos
appears to have been kept intact until the fire as a sort of headquarters while all the other palaces
were destroyed. The ruins we have today from discoveries made by Sir Arthur Evans in 1900 AD
are the remains from after the Palace of Knossos was burnt down. Knossos is a clear example of
monumental (of great importance or size) Minoan architecture.
There are several major courts that make up the Knossos palace; these include the large,
rectangular Central Court, the West Court, the West and East Wings, the theater, royal chambers,
shrines and the Throne Room. Like most Minoan buildings the Central Court seems to be the
main focus of the building. Stone was the primary building material, but also included a timber
frame for flexibility. Mortar linked the stones together and wood was used for all the columns,
doors, windows and roofs. The interior walls were plastered with clay and often had bright
frescoes painted on them. The floors were generally beaten down earth, but sometimes had small
pebbles stuck into them. Lighting and ventilation was primarily utilized through light wells, vertical
airshafts that ran the full height of the buildings. Drainage was controlled through a series of
terracotta pipes and stone ductwork. The best preserved section of this drainage system is below
the East Wing. Polythyron doors are common feature of Minoan palaces and Evans

homelessness within a six year time frame (National Alliance to End Homelessness, 2015). While

Formulate a talent management strategy to encompass the entire talent requirements of the
organization. When discussing and planning your organization s future, it s important to consider
not just the goals, objectives, and initiatives, but clearly how to accomplish them. The most
important contributor is undoubtedly your employees. Aligning the organization s business strategy

Strategic Employee Planning is the practice of developing your organizational goals and strategic
plan. It is also knowing how to achieve your goals and implement the plan. Another responsibility of
employee planning is identifying the key roles and personnel who will assist you in attaining them.
Talent Acquisition and Retention is hiring new talent into your organization and recognizing and
cultivating talent you already have in the organization. Promoting from within your organization is
more cost effective and encourages employee engagement and loyalty. Performance Management is
when the right person is aligned with the right role and position within the organization. Its end
goal is to make sure that roles align with your business strategy to achieve its goals. It develops
goals for success, supports employee development, and moves the organization in a positive
direction. Learning and Motivating sounds like two components but they actually go hand in hand.
Learning is more than just training it is the acquirement of information and skills, which in turn
gives way to knowledge and experience. To be effective learning programs need to include
behavior based activities and tasks that support the organization s culture and proposals. The
motivation comes in when employees see how their growth impacts the organization, and realize
just how valuable their role is. Career Development

Interpretation of Giovanni Bellini’s Madonna and Child
Giovanni Bellini, (born c. 1430, Venice [Italy] died 1516, Venice), Italian painter who, in his work,
reflects the increasing interest of the Venetian artistic milieu in the stylistic innovations and
concerns of the Renaissance (metmuseum). Bellini was one of the most influential Venetian artists.
He lived and worked in Veniceall his life; his career spanned 65 years. Little is known about
Bellini s family. Bellini s father, Jacopo, a painter was a pupil of the Gentile da Fabriano, in any
case, Jacopo introduced the principles of the Florentine Renaissance to Venice before either of his
sons (Britannica). Jacopo strove to ensure that his sons would become distinguished painters as well
and, it is said, often pitted them each other.
In Bellini s depiction of the Madonna and Child (One of Bellini s mature works), the Madonna,
with her face calm and collective, is tenderly holding the Christ Child on her knee, the Madonna
is seated improbably in front of a velvet curtain set in a landscape with a city and rolling
mountains in the distance. The transition from a dormant to a verdant nature and a dawn sky is a
metaphor for death and rebirth (metmuseum) . The landscape seems to allude to the theme of death
and resurrection: the trees are barren in the foreground and while the fields follow behind in the
background is all green, the effect is somewhat a little over the top with some of the brownish color
in the middle having been faded over the time (metmuseum). The path

Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Social Media And Social...
Social Media By: Raven Dawn Mount HUM/186 Allyson Wells
From as long as I can remember I have always used the internet to do my book reports or any

only takes a minimum amount of time to find what you are looking for and incredibly easy to
find the answers to the questions one is looking for. Now a day s not only is it easy you have a
guide on your phone and computer such as Siri, Cortana and Bixby, to help you. All you have to
do is ask your device a question and they go through the web and find the best sites fitted to answer
the question asked or give the direct answer.
The problem with being able to easily obtain information is not knowing if it is true or not and
being able to separate opinion from fact that it has a credible resource to it, that is a disadvantage.
The reason it is a disadvantage is because when doing assignments and the directions ask for a
credible resource you don t want to put down just any resource that got looked up. The site used
needs to have an author or author s whose name can be credited for the information that was

Models of Customer Satisfaction
Models of Customer Satisfaction Adriadne Aaron Hill Peru State College Executive Summary This
paper presents different models of customer satisfaction. Models are needed in customer satisfaction
so that when measurements are taken there is a way to analyze the results. Companies who want to
compete in their field must understand the purpose of customer satisfaction. The beginning stage of
customer satisfaction is distinguishing between the customer and the consumer. A customer is an
individual or business that purchases a product or service. A consumer is an individual that actually
uses the product or service. Even though research is generally termed customer service satisfaction
as the customer is the purchaser, it is important to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
High performance businesses understand the importance of meeting these demands in order to
retain customers and to build new customer relationships. Businesses that are mindful of customer
satisfaction try to eliminate product and service failures, exchanges in which the customer
experiences losses (Smith, Bolton, Wagner, 1999). Businesses choose to measure customer
satisfaction so that they can determine their customer loyalty, the business revenue, and costs.
Gaining a profit is the ultimate goal of businesses, however, great businesses focus on the customer,
and their needs and making sure that quality demands are met. There are different models used to
measure customer satisfaction that are dependent upon the particular information desired. Models
can focus on value, quality, performance, and expectations. Models are needed to analyze the
validity of measurements for customer satisfaction. Literature Review Deros, Rahman, Rahman,
Ismail, and Said examined Quality Function Deployment (QFD). A study was done to measure
service quality performance. Initially the research began with surveying with questionnaires for
feedback. They believed that it was necessary to be able to adapt to the changing market in order to
compete. Study revealed that QFD can be used can be used to effectively improve in quality,
performance, and customer satisfaction (Deros, Rahman, Rahman, Ismail, Said, 2009).

Theme Of Human Relationships By Anita Desai
Anita Desai presents to reader her opinion about complexity of human relationships as a big
contemporary problem and human condition. At the level of inner consciousness words are not
mere meanings recorded in a dictionary but are symbolic which trigger feelings and meanings that
an individual draws out of one s subconscious storehouse. Her women characters make a reader look
at them with awe with their relationship to their surroundings, their society, their men, their
children, their families, their psychological make ups and themselves. Though not admittedly a
feminist, Anita Desai is well aware of the predicament of the Indian women and their relationship
with men. Running inward her fictiongrapples with the intangible realities of life. Man woman
relationship in the urban society is her concern and in novelafter novel she delves deeper and deeper
in this dilemma. D.H. Lawrence rightly points out that The great relationship for humanity will...

Why Slavery Was Important for America Essay
Slavery Everyone knows a little about slavery, but do they know that Indians were slavers as well
as Africans? Slavery had a huge impact on the world for many reasons. What if the people in
America at this time had found another way or something other than slavery? Also what would
have happened if slavery never existed? I feel that America would not have survived without slavery
. Without slavery the world would not have been the way it is today, it would be a lot different.
The three reasons I feel that America would have not have survived without slavery are because of
the following: the early settlers had no idea how to harvest enough foods, that there would not have
been enough manpower to win the Revolutionary War, and lastly the... Show more content on

The settlers put the slaves into the fields to do all of the work. Think about it this way, in today s
world it takes a two hundred thousand dollar machine to do what the slaves had to do. In the South
there were 3,953,760 slaves in 1860(Funk Wagnalls). The Caribbeanand Brazilian sugar plantations
required a consistently high supply of labor for centuries (Funk Wagnalls). Europeans needed more
laborers than they could recruit from among their own metropolitan masses (Funk Wagnalls). This
proves that the setters could not survive without slavery. How did America become America? Well
America had to fight a war to brake away from Great Britain. By 1921 the British Empire held sway
over a population of about 470В–570 million people, which was roughly a quarter of the world s
population (wikipedia). This war was the Revolutionary War or some people call it America s
war for independence, and without the help from the slaves America might have lost this war.
America was a small little nothing compared to Great Britain. The people in America had no way
of beating the most powerful country in the world at this time. How was the America going to be
able to defect this country? The army of the Americas or the rebels wasВ… and В…. were the
number slaves fighting in this war. If the slaves were not apart of the North and more importantly
apart of the South they army would

Sql Vs. Relational Databases
To SQL or Not to SQL
Relational databases play a major role in making many apps and programs work. They provide an
easy way to store large amounts of data in a consistent, non duplicating, and maintainable way to
be used by developers for analytical or software use ( Advantages of a relational database , n.d.).
However, more and more applications and companies with a tremendous amount of data such as
search engines, social networks, and e commerce sites have been requiring a level of speed and
scalability that relational databases can not provide ( Why NoSQL? , n.d.). NoSQL is a name
given to a quickly growing type of database known as non relational databases, which are being
used to store and manage huge amounts of structured, semi structured, and non structured data
known as Big Data ( Why NoSQL? n.d.). With the advent of social networks and apps with
millions of users, the rate of growth of non structured and semi structured data is exponential, and
the value in being able to quickly traverse it, analyze it, and use it for development is also growing
quickly (McGuire, Manyika, Chui, 2012).
Fundamentally, relational and non relational databases are very different. Relational databases
generally follow the ACID transaction principles, while non relational databases generally follow
BASIC principles (Sasaki, 2015). ACID stands for atomic, consistent, isolated, durable; and
prioritizes data consistency, stability, and accuracy over speed and scalability (Sasaki,

Pasteurization Is Not Sterilization Essay
1. Explain, in detail, the meaning of the following statement. Pasteurization is not sterilization
These two method of microbial control are used for different purpose, while sterilization is used to
keep instruments, equipment, materials and objects free from harmful microorganisms, viruses and
bacterial endospores, pasteurization is used keep food and beverages from spoiling by killing
pathogens and reducing the number of spoilage microorganism. During the pasteurization of food
products, not all microorganism is destroyed, thermoduric and thermophilic prokaryotes can
survive. However, they do not represent a health risk for consumers because theses prokaryotes are
not commonly pathogenic. Also, pasteurized foods are refrigerated right away and stored until
consumption.2. Describe at least two methods of microbial control in depth and give examples of
their uses (use the unit 7 PowerPoint as guidance)

To sterilize items, they must be immersed in a solution for the required time specified by the
manufacturer to be sporicidal. All chemical solutions have pros and cons. These chemicals are:
peracetic acid, glutaraldehyde, and formaldehyde.
B)Disinfection is a less lethal process than sterilization and is intended to kill disease producing
microorganism but not bacterial endospores. A chemical that kills microorganism but not spore is
called a disinfectant. Several types of disinfectant are available:
Phenol and phenolics: They are intermediate to low level disinfectant. They work by denaturing
proteins and disrupting the cell membranes of microorganisms. They are used in healthcare
settings, but they have disagreeable odor and may cause skin irritation in some patients. EX.

Examples Of Mall Observation
I chose to observe the library I work for, which is the Squirrel Hill location of the Carnegie Library
of Pittsburgh system. I performed my observation around 3:30 PM on Monday, September 19th.
There are technically three outdoor entrances, but two of them actually lead to the main inner
entrance. You can see the main entrance from the street, which allows paid parking. The library
itself is positioned above a parking lot (also paid parking), which is where the second main
entrance is seen. Both of these two main entrances lead to the same lobby area where you can
either take the steps or the elevator to the library floor. The third entrance is located on the
opposite side of the branch along the side street, which is residential and free parking, but you can t
see the entrance until you physically walk up the driveway.
Upon entering, there are no signs indicated the layout of the library. At potentially strategic
locations as determined by the Facilities department, there are extremely vague maps indicating
emergency exits for the building, but they are small and not very noticeable. By the main outer
entrances, there is an elevator, stairs, and a space for flyers (bulletin board and a shelf); by the
inner main entrance, there s a bench outside. Upon entering the library, the magazine collection and
first security stand is immediately to the left. On the right are New books in paperback format that
are strung up in display. Ahead is the New and Bestseller collection

Essay Legalize Stem Cell Research
Stem cell research should be legal and funded by the government in all 50 states. There are
several types of stem cells that we have available to use for research. The controversy comes
from the use of Embryonic Stem Cells (ESC) and how they are obtained. The funding is very
unstable for stem cell research due to the use of ESC, combined with the message they send.
There have been several arguments in regards to the right to life. In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
clinics have never been funded by the government and that is not the plan for this research either.
Even if the research was funded by the government, the stem cells would continue to live on. Stem
cells are used to find cures for life threatening diseases. Research of stem cells is... Show more

Somatic Stem Cells show they are resourceful and have been in use for a very long period of
time, Somatic Stem Cells can help cure disease. Without continued funding for this, researchers
would be unable to find other cures, like the already in process bone marrow transplants. The
rejection rate theory is very powerful, being able to save lives with low complications; however,
if the research is not funded, we might not be able to stop the person from getting the illness
again, considering the illness is most likely in the genetic makeup of the individual. Three is a
need for continued funding for this research, at least until researchers have exhausted all avenues,
finding every possible capability of these Somatic Stem Cells. The second type of stem cell in use is
the Umbilical Cord Blood Stem Cells. These stem cells come from the umbilical cord of a
newborn which generally would get discarded. Otherwise, these cords are frozen and stored in a
private blood bank, in case the stem cells should ever be needed by the donor or their family (
Umbilical Cord Blood , par. 23). The processes to save these cells is; something like this, the
parents pay a onetime fee and they receive a package for sending the cord in after delivery, after

6. What advantages do fuel cells offer batteries for use in portable electronic devices? Do they have
any disadvantages?
Fuel Cells generate electricity by consuming fuel (often methanol), while traditional batteries store
electricity and release it through a chemical reaction. A spent fuel cell is replenished in moments
by simply refilling its reservoir or by replacing the spent fuel cartridge with a fresh one.
Benefits of Fuel Cell:
пѓ Because there is no combustion in a fuel cell, fuel is converted to electricity more efficiently
than any other electrical generating technology available today.
пѓ There are no moving parts in a fuel cell stack, making them more reliable and quieter than
generators. Even the ancillary systems (fans, pumps, controls, etcetera) in a complete fuel cell unit
are relatively mature and simple technologies that should prove extremely reliable.
пѓ Unlike batteries that must be disposed of once their chemicals are used up, fuel cell reactions
do not degrade over time and can theoretically provide continuous electricity.
пѓ Traditional power plants must be large in order to gain efficiency, but fuel cells can achieve
higher efficiencies at any scale, making them perfect for small portable, residential, and
transportation uses.
пѓ Because fuel cells are clean and efficient at any size, they can be located almost anywhere,
including dense urban areas where both air quality and

Skepticism About The External World
Skepticism about the external world is one of the most widely discussed arguments in the history
of philosophy. Barry Stroud defines skepticism as the idea that we cannot have knowledge about
the external world (Stroud, page 1). This conclusion is the result of Rene Descartes Dream
Argument and has been a topic of discussion ever since. No matter how we attack the argument, it
seems that we inevitably arrive at skepticism. In this paper, I will argue that the skeptical
conclusion is true and why it seems to be compelling as a necessary condition for knowledge. I
will describe the Dream Argument and take a look at Moore s promising response to the
conclusion as an inconsistent proof. In the end, Moore s argument for evidence of an external
world will fail to disprove the skeptical conclusion due to its lack of justified belief. Although I am
intuitively inclined to deny the skeptical argument, I cannot logically do so but will argue against
full blown skepticism and explain how mild skepticism is a more approachable route to
knowledge. In our everyday conversation, we do not generally question the validity of small claims
that we make during normal interactions. In Meditation 1, Descartes decides that it is the right time
to reevaluate the foundation of knowledge that he will rest his life upon from that point forward.
He puts in question the things that he thinks he knows for certain. He acknowledges that everything
he knows has been perceived from the senses or through

Insurance Analysis in Kenya
Introduction
Insurance in Kenya is known to have been in existence for over sixty years now with the first
insurance companies believed to have been owned by British insurers during the colonial times.
The industry is governed by the Insurance Act and regulated by the Insurance Regulatory Authority.
The Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) was created by the Insurance (Amendment) Act of 2006
and came into operation on 1st May 2007.
The Authority was established with the mandate of regulating, supervising and developing the
insurance industry. Before the establishment of IRA, these functions were performed by the
Department of Insurance in the Ministry of Finance. (IRA 2010)

Medical insurance is divided into three segments, one health cover operated by employers, the
second individual cover and the third coverage operated by the government targeting low income
earners through the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF). Health insurers have raised concern
about clients who view cover value as expensive as opposed to the benefits. That s why insurers

poor health infrastructure in the country, rural hospitals have inadequate facilities and are
understaffed, thereby making people to travel to major city for treatment; this has also contributed
to the rise in health insurance cost. Many insurers have shied away from HIV AIDs insurance
because of the risks involved.

It can be very hard for teens and some adults don t do enough to help them. Three of the many difficulties teens today and teens in The Outsiders are lack of sleep, mental abuse, and relationships. Every teenager have problems, not just one and adults aren t doing enough to help these teens to get through them. Many teens struggle with lack of sleep due to having a tremendous amount of homework. Homework is one of the main things that lead to teenage stress. It keeps kids from doing what they enjoy and what interests them, they end up staying up all night trying to finish. Various teens also have to do sports or after school activities. • 3. My Personal Leadership Challenge Analysis The new ways of thinking that will help me to readdress my personal leadership challenge involves better understanding the concepts of values based leadership, situational leadership, and style, skills, and trait approaches to leadership. Values based leadership revolves around how the values that people have, influence the decisions they make and the actions they take. Northouse mentions that because leaders usually have more power and control than followers, they also have more responsibility to be sensitive to how their leadership affects followers lives (2013, p. 428). Due to this strong statement, working to further understand the major types of values that relate to leadership will be important for me to pin point which values my supervisor distinctively displays and which values he does not. Being able to understand this information is key as values are important to understanding leadership because they explain the focus and direction of peoples actions (Fernandez Hogan, 2002) and in this case, my supervisor s actions. Two values that are particularly interesting are the values of being just and being respectful. My supervisor strongly portrays the value of equality as he make[s] it a top priority to treat all of [his] subordinates in an equal manner (Northouse, 2013, p.433). He displays this when he gathers all instructors for a talk before we go to teach swimming lessons. On the contrary, although my supervisor has passion, he can come off as being ignorant ... • 13. Explain Finnis’ Natural Law Theory Essay Explain Finnis Natural Law Theory (30 marks) John Finnis, an Australian legal philosopher has tried to resurrect the natural law tradition in moral philosophy and law since the mid 1960s. He tries to offer a neo Aquinian natural law philosophy which does not presuppose a divine being. By focusing attention on goods rather than a single Good, Finnis skilfully articulates what he calls a theory of moral action for our day. Or, in other words, he seeks a theory of how to live well. Finnis identifies a number of equally valuable basic goods or ends, given human nature, there are seven. Three are substantive, existing prior to action and four are reflexive which is depending on our choices. The first is human life, including every aspect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Finnis acknowledges that it may not be possible to embrace some of basic goods as wholesomely as others, one should leave them open to all. Similar to the second principle, the third is no arbitrary preferences among persons, to respect the intrinsic integrity of each individual in treating people always as ends in themselves and never as mere means. This is often referred to as the second formulation of Kant s Categorical Imperative. The fourth is equilibrium between detachment and commitment, detachment prohibits fatalism or obsession with specific projects, ensuring life is not drained of meaning if your objective eludes you. Commitment prescribes that someone engages in projects and pursues them beyond hardship. You should expand their horizons in seeking out creative ways to pursue their enterprises or we needlessly waste opportunities for fulfilment. Principle five discusses the consequences of a decision in particular, the limited relevance of consequences. This principle speaks to the need for efficiency in pursuit of definite goals. Finnis rejects utilitarian reasoning as senseless and unworkable because the basic forms of human good are incommensurable . Finnis holds that the rational agent will prefer less rather than greater damage to a basic good in single act. The sixth principle of the nine principles of practical reasonableness is respect for every basic value in every act. Finnis holds that in every act one must respect all ... • 14. Aldous Huxley s A Brave New World Aldous Huxley has presented us a compelling story in the 20th century called a Brave New World. One of the most notable dystopian novels, it calls for a reader to conceptualize a world, in which society and science are synonymous with each other, history had faded far into obscurity, and Henry Ford, the creator of the assembly line, becomes a deity to many uniformed individuals. The book was about how humans are no longer created by the conventional means of mating, rather artificially, through the process of separating the ovaries and the sperm cells, and utilizing certain embryos in a biological process called Bokanovskification, the act of stimulating an embryo to undergo a mitotic process in which the end result being that up to 96... As we progress throughout the society s continuous developments, there is reasonable evidence to conclude that Huxley s dystopian novel was his premonitions and envisioning that society would be more centric to our technologies and science, as well as other factors, whilst losing sense of morality. One aspect of the novel that he would portray over our contemporary society is the oversaturation of technology in the story. For example, this could be showcased in this quote: ...appalled by the rushing emptiness of the night...so haggard and distracted among the hastening clouds. (Huxley, p.91). This quote reveals to the reader that being an observer of nature has some stigma connotated towards it. In essence, it is looked down upon, as the quote the succeeded it, one of characters urged to turn on the radio, as it was detracting her from the norms of her society. Another major aspect of technology, as mentioned previously, was cloning in society. There were many experiments performed on the cloned embryos as well as attempting to homologate them to the respective castes. For example, the deprivation of an embryo of a human at seventy percent you got dwarfs. (Huxley, p.14). A unique feature of the Blue Whale is that they are the largest mammalin existence they can grow up to 30 meters long and weigh up to 190 tons. Due to its size they are the hunter s ultimate prize hence why they are endangered. Despite its size, its diet consists of some of the smallest marine life such as, krill, shrimp and so on. • 16. Filial Piety In A Devoted Son Filial Piety in A Devoted Son A Devoted Son is the story of Rakesh, a young Indian man and the relationship with his family. He receives top honors at school, accolades from his American and Indian comrades, rises to the director of the local hospital, and becomes the richest doctor in his town. Critics argue this is Desai s comment about perfect Indian society, where adherence to filial piety, respecting one s parents, elders, and ancestors, is paramount (Crane). Rakesh s view of it leads to a breakdown in his relationship with his father. The father feels neglected by his family because they no longer respect his wishes. To Rakesh, belief in protecting his family from the ills of society, despite their temptation, proves his dedication to family (Desai). Filial piety in the abstract is a good standard to live by, but it could lead to destruction because adhering to it removes emotions. In the beginning, the relationship between Rakesh and his parents was an admirable one. Rakesh considers his parents feelings prior to making major decisions. From choosing a wife to becoming the primary caretaker to his father after his mother s death, Rakesh s sole desire seems to make his parents proud. Though the author does not dwell on the concept of filial piety regarding the mother, she shows her dedication to the family at the expense of her health. The mother s death marks a change in the family. The old father very quickly went to pieces, (Desai) and could not adjust ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The attendant moves her to the front of the line, grabs her bag and the baby carrier, and carries them through for her. Nothing is said about the nail file or the can of mace in her purse. After all, she is a mother of two and she is traveling alone; she is not a threat. Those days of helping a mother with two children are long gone. Solar heat gain coefficient is widely use in the United State in designing building. SHGC may refer to the transmittance of solar energyof windows or even walls, every object can be evaluate by using solar heatgain coefficient method by knowing the properties of each material. At the onset of exercise, VO2 cannot initially support or new metabolic demands at sub maximal level, so an oxygen deficit is created and must be compensated by our anaerobic metabolic systems. As exercise continues, for about 3 5 minutes, our aerobic system syncs in and supplements VO2, and a steady state is achieved. Heartrate increases as exercise increases in order to support an increase in VO2 and the metabolic demands required to pump more blood; this represents and linear relationship. Heart rate and VO2 are also linearly related, as the maintenance of a steady state during exercise is largely dependent on the heart s ability to stimulate the metabolic activities that result in increased ventilation and a subsequent increase in VO2.... Fresh off the Revolutionary War, America was faced with the daunting task of finding her identity and creating new government and new ways of life. This was also a time of great religious change, in that the Second Great Awakening was sweeping the nation. America s deep Puritan and Calvinist roots were being challenged head on as the Evangelicals spread a new message that salvation was no longer predestined, but was available to all if one chose it. A great duality was emerging in the ideas of boundless freedom versus the need for a central government, demand for security in the form of Constitutional rights versus the hypocrisy that inferior races were not included as all men , and the new idea that God s love was available to all instead of the chosen few. The shedding of old ideas created a sense of excitement and possibility, yet also a fear of the unknown. If we apply Mary Russell Mitford s observation that there are few things that give a completer [sic] picture of the habits of living, and the ways of thinking of a foreign country, than it s lighter literature to this period in American History, we get a sense of the loss of certainty, discontent, and hypocrisy that was present at the time. • 31. The Absurdity Of Venus By William Shakespeare Shakespeare quickly manifests Venus as a desire driven being. In order to convince Adonis to give in to her lust, Venus attempted to persuade Adonis with grand exaltation, forced contact, and even a fraudulent fainting episode. All throughout these lustful demonstrations of love , Venus hyperbolizes both her love for Adonis and his beauty. Despite her best efforts, Venus fails in her efforts to gain both his love and lust. Furthermore, her falsified claims reveal to us a character whose desire is not constructed as a stable force, but as an (...) attempt to reshape reality (Stanivukovic 293). The absurdity of Venus acts hint at Shakespeare s attempt to implement Venus as the personified emotion of desire . Her attempts to reshape the reality of Adonis disdain indicate that a different force, more powerful than Venus lust, is preventing Adonis from complying. Many events throughout the poem indicate nature s prominence as this preventive and controlling force. Many indications that nature encompasses all lie within Venus coercion. Early on, Venus tries to convince Adonis that failing to reproduce is an abuse of his gifted life: The first line argues against individuals being selfish and living just for themselves quite ironic in itself given that she never grows due to immortality. Bellini was one of the most influential Venetian artists. He lived and worked in Veniceall his life; his career spanned 65 years. Little is known about Bellini s family. Bellini s father, Jacopo, a painter was a pupil of the Gentile da Fabriano, in any case, Jacopo introduced the principles of the Florentine Renaissance to Venice before either of his sons (Britannica). The problem with being able to easily obtain information is not knowing if it is true or not and being able to separate opinion from fact that it has a credible resource to it, that is a disadvantage. The reason it is a disadvantage is because when doing assignments and the directions ask for a credible resource you don t want to put down just any resource that got looked up. Models are needed in customer satisfaction so that when measurements are taken there is a way to analyze the results. Companies who want to compete in their field must understand the purpose of customer satisfaction. The beginning stage of customer satisfaction is distinguishing between the customer and the consumer. A customer is an individual or business that purchases a product or service. A consumer is an individual that actually uses the product or service. Even though research is generally termed customer service satisfaction as the customer is the purchaser, it is important to... Businesses that are mindful of customer satisfaction try to eliminate product and service failures, exchanges in which the customer experiences losses (Smith, Bolton, Wagner, 1999). Businesses choose to measure customer satisfaction so that they can determine their customer loyalty, the business revenue, and costs. Gaining a profit is the ultimate goal of businesses, however, great businesses focus on the customer, and their needs and making sure that quality demands are met. There are different models used to measure customer satisfaction that are dependent upon the particular information desired. Models can focus on value, quality, performance, and expectations. Models are needed to analyze the validity of measurements for customer satisfaction. Literature Review Deros, Rahman, Rahman, Ismail, and Said examined Quality Function Deployment (QFD). A study was done to measure service quality performance. Initially the research began with surveying with questionnaires for feedback. They believed that it was necessary to be able to adapt to the changing market in order to compete. Study revealed that QFD can be used can be used to effectively improve in quality, performance, and customer satisfaction (Deros, Rahman, Rahman, Ismail, Said, 2009). ... • 39. Theme Of Human Relationships By Anita Desai Anita Desai presents to reader her opinion about complexity of human relationships as a big contemporary problem and human condition. At the level of inner consciousness words are not mere meanings recorded in a dictionary but are symbolic which trigger feelings and meanings that an individual draws out of one s subconscious storehouse. Her women characters make a reader look at them with awe with their relationship to their surroundings, their society, their men, their children, their families, their psychological make ups and themselves. Though not admittedly a feminist, Anita Desai is well aware of the predicament of the Indian women and their relationship with men. In her first novel Cry The Peacock, Anita Desai s style is tinted with a curious compatibility with her theme, because the narrator happens to be a hypersensitive young become, tense and over wrought. Gertrude Steins Influence On Modern Culture Gertrude Stein once said, You can either buy clothes or buy pictures (cite Stein), and it is their affinity for doing the latter that has made Gertrude, Leo, and Michael Stein revolutionaries in the world of visual art. American in origin, but long time residents of Paris, the Stein siblings possessed a drive to change the way the world sees what art is. They were tastemakers and trendsetters, not afraid to express an appreciation for the avant garde artists that the world had previously turned away. Purchases like these completely transformed the lives of artists. Matisse s work was mocked and ridiculed before being discovered by the Stein family, but after Leo purchased Woman with a Hat, the Stein apartment became a major destination for aspiring artists who wanted to view the unique piece. Slavery had a huge impact on the world for many reasons. What if the people in America at this time had found another way or something other than slavery? Also what would have happened if slavery never existed? I feel that America would not have survived without slavery . Without slavery the world would not have been the way it is today, it would be a lot different. The Caribbeanand Brazilian sugar plantations required a consistently high supply of labor for centuries (Funk Wagnalls). • 43. Sql Vs. Relational Databases To SQL or Not to SQL Relational databases play a major role in making many apps and programs work. They provide an easy way to store large amounts of data in a consistent, non duplicating, and maintainable way to be used by developers for analytical or software use ( Advantages of a relational database , n.d.). However, more and more applications and companies with a tremendous amount of data such as search engines, social networks, and e commerce sites have been requiring a level of speed and scalability that relational databases can not provide ( Why NoSQL? , n.d.). NoSQL is a name given to a quickly growing type of database known as non relational databases, which are being used to store and manage huge amounts of structured, semi structured, and non structured data known as Big Data ( Why NoSQL? n.d.). With the advent of social networks and apps with millions of users, the rate of growth of non structured and semi structured data is exponential, and the value in being able to quickly traverse it, analyze it, and use it for development is also growing quickly (McGuire, Manyika, Chui, 2012). Fundamentally, relational and non relational databases are very different. Relational databases generally follow the ACID transaction principles, while non relational databases generally follow BASIC principles (Sasaki, 2015). What advantages do fuel cells offer batteries for use in portable electronic devices? Do they have any disadvantages? Fuel Cells generate electricity by consuming fuel (often methanol), while traditional batteries store electricity and release it through a chemical reaction. A spent fuel cell is replenished in moments by simply refilling its reservoir or by replacing the spent fuel cartridge with a fresh one. Benefits of Fuel Cell: пѓ Because there is no combustion in a fuel cell, fuel is converted to electricity more efficiently than any other electrical generating technology available today. пѓ There are no moving parts in a fuel cell stack, making them more reliable and quieter than generators. Even the ancillary systems (fans, pumps, controls, etcetera) in a complete fuel cell unit are relatively mature and simple technologies that should prove extremely reliable. пѓ Unlike batteries that must be disposed of once their chemicals are used up, fuel cell reactions do not degrade over time and can theoretically provide continuous electricity. пѓ Traditional power plants must be large in order to gain efficiency, but fuel cells can achieve higher efficiencies at any scale, making them perfect for small portable, residential, and transportation uses. пѓ Because fuel cells are clean and efficient at any size, they can be located almost anywhere, including dense urban areas where both air quality and ... Barry Stroud defines skepticism as the idea that we cannot have knowledge about the external world (Stroud, page 1). This conclusion is the result of Rene Descartes Dream Argument and has been a topic of discussion ever since. No matter how we attack the argument, it seems that we inevitably arrive at skepticism. In this paper, I will argue that the skeptical conclusion is true and why it seems to be compelling as a necessary condition for knowledge. I will describe the Dream Argument and take a look at Moore s promising response to the conclusion as an inconsistent proof. In the end, Moore s argument for evidence of an external world will fail to disprove the skeptical conclusion due to its lack of justified belief. Although I am intuitively inclined to deny the skeptical argument, I cannot logically do so but will argue against full blown skepticism and explain how mild skepticism is a more approachable route to knowledge. In our everyday conversation, we do not generally question the validity of small claims that we make during normal interactions. In Meditation 1, Descartes decides that it is the right time to reevaluate the foundation of knowledge that he will rest his life upon from that point forward.
