French As A Native Language
French As A Native Language: An analysis and examination of areas in Western Europe
Language has consistently been a fundamental tool and method in order to communicate with diverse
individuals, who associate themselves and belong to various civilizations of the world. Every human
being born in this world grows up learning a native language. A native language is learned from one s
parents in one s home, and an individual can have more than one native language if they were brought
up speaking different languages at the same time. Native languages cannot be gained later in life, and
a language is only native if one grew up speaking it. The continent of Europe is a conventional way of
thinking of the world. Europe is a grand landmass that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Europe accounts for 39.87% of the French speaking population [...] In Europe (excluding France), the
largest populations of French speakers are essentially to be found in Belgium (45% of the population),
Switzerland (20% of the population) and Luxembourg. French is Europe s second most widely spoken
mother tongue with over 77 million speakers . The French language can be seen spoken in different
environments. It is spoken in homes, schools, the government, such as in the United Nations and most
distinctively in the European Union. In Western Europe a large majority of the population learns more
than one language growing up due to the close proximity to other countries who s official language
may be different. There are five distinct regions in Western Europe where the French language is the
population s native language: the French Republic, Wallonia, the Principality of Monaco, the Swiss
Federation, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The French Republic is characterized as a unitary state
and a semi presidential system enabled by the French Fifth Republic. The French Fifth Republic was
established in 1958 as the aftermath of the French Fourth Republic, which preceded the governmental
system and Republican Constitution set into place. The current President of the French Republic is

In the story Stolen Day , which was written by Sherwood Anderson, a young boy wants attention from
his mother that always ignores him. Another story that is similar, The Night the Bed Fell written by
James Thurber, tells about a young boy who is humorous and thinks his relatives are strange. In both
stories the narrator exaggerates a lot and is very dramatic. In the story Stolen Day the narrator was
feeling neglected by his family. The narrator was walking home one day and he realized that his joints

Definition Of Frames
A frame is a set of contexts and perspectives that defines how an individual perceives and responds to
facts, events or people. Frames are intellectual stereotypes that make the interpretation of the world
around us easy by filtering out details that we believe or have found in the past to be insignificant.
This simplification sometimes has its own problems that can in turn be addressed by reframing. The
deliberate and conscious management, reformation and refinement of frames that aims to address and
minimize the conflict between how things are and how one perceives it, is called reframing.
Reframing, essentially, is a process of analyzing, reshaping and improving frames so that the reflective
practitioners may be able to better understand

Gun Fire Research Paper
The development of weapons is a never ending race driven by fear of another country out gunning you
in a war. It is what countries spend a large portion of their budgets on sometimes upwards of 500
billion dollars. Before supersonic jets or nuclear bombs the advancements in guns and firearms were
revered as breakthroughs that would slaughter hundreds. A big leap in western gun technology came
during the American Civil War as each side struggled to get the upper hand in the war. Born through
this fire of combat came the rifle musket and the minié bullet. What made the weapon so effective was
its ability to fire at a decent distance and actually stand a chance at hitting its target.
These weapons are considered useless compared to more modern ... Show more content on

Rimfire bullets are crushed from the side where a chemical called primer lines the edges. This
chemical ignites the gunpowder inside the casing and fires the bullet. The problem with this method is
that the casing has to be skinny enough to be crushed but still funnel all the energy of the gunpowder
into the bullet without breaking. The centerfire was meant to fix that while it was louder you could
have a much more powerful round but having a small circle of primer stick out the back of the casing.
The firing pin would hit just the primer igniting the gunpowder without crushing the casing. This
meant you could have a thicker casing to fire a larger bullet.
Along with centerfire bullets and guns came another advancement that we still use to this day in
almost every common military rifle. The vertical fed magazine at first they were integrated into the
gun itself. Meaning you loaded the bullets from the top of the gun into the magazine that was attached.
This was very common during WWI and was even seen into WWII. The advantage of these vertically
fed magazines was at first not recognized. The tube magazine was still the most prevalent for quite a
while even after the invention of vertical

Lord Of The Flies Teamwork Vs Independence Essay
I believe that being in a group is much more beneficial than being independent. Throughout the book
lord of the flies there are two tribes who represent teamwork versus independence. There is Ralph s
tribe who are democratic and work as a group for survival. Then on the other side there is Jacks tribe
where everyone is free to do whatever they want. The definition of teamwork is The process of
working collaboratively with a group of people in order to achieve a goal . This ties in perfectly with
the novel because Ralph s tribe is working together and sharing ideas to achieve their goal of getting
rescued. There are three reasons why I believe working in a group is better than being independent.
The first reason is that two heads are always better than one. The second is that teamwork allows
people to accomplish projects and goals which are difficult to do alone. My final reason is that
teamwork builds morale.

then confidence and trust is quickly gained. Each team member has something special to offer. By
working together, members of a team feel a strong sense of belonging and deep commitment to each
other and their goal. This is seen in the book Lord of the flies where each character brings something
good to the group: Ralphs leadership, Jacks hunting skills, Simons logical thinking and Piggys
innovativness. Piggy is made fun of throughout the whole beginning of the book but once he starts

wave and then leave him. The only way to go to New York in time is to go by plane, but Zeus could
strike them down any minute. Percy then goes up to floor six hundred after going to the lobby and
goes to the plane and returns the lightning bolt without no problem. Poseidon tells Percy that his
mother is at home safe, and Zeus lets Percy return back home to his apartment. Percy then got home
from a taxi ride home, and spent the rest of the summer at camp half blood peacefully.
That is the summary of Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and now I will be

baffled by the idea of her having to disguise herself for basic survival. Moving on, in Incendiary, the
narrator, who is unnamed throughout the entirety of the book, is stripped of her husband and four year
old son after they fall victim of a terrorist attack at a football match. She deals with the everyday
struggles of people within her economic class. Her life is representative to that of the average citizen
in London. On the day of the incident her husband, who works for a bomb squad, takes her son to
watch an Arsenal game. Meanwhile, she goes to a pub to relieve her mind off the everyday pressure
she is constantly under. Consequently, after the bombing, she was suddenly struck by the idea of
terrorism and the murder of innocent civilians. This, similarly to Little Bee, leads her to losing her

Analysis of Three Books About Gorbachev Essay
Analysis of Three Books About Gorbachev
The history of the Soviet Union is complicated and fascinating. In the course of only seventy years
this country has seen the development of the totally new system of state, economic growth, the growth
of hopes for the brighter future , and then the sudden and expected by no one collapse of the whole
system leading to chaos, wars, and confusion. One period is especially important in order to realize
how did things finally started to change after the seventy years of blindly pursuing the dream of
communism which left the Soviet Union in a very bad economical and moral state, and this period is
called perestroika, Russian for restructuring. The main figure behind this process which began in ...

This influence lasted for years and the fact that Gorbachev has become
westernized in his appearance, manners, dress and the image he projects of tolerance and cordial
behavior, all the small signs which mark him as different from the usual Komsomol and Party boss , is
according to Medvedev due to a great extent to the fact that Mlynar was Gorbachev s roommate
(Medvedev, 1986, p. 43).
Although the first part of the book is certainly interesting and important I would like to concentrate on
the second part of the book since it is directly deals with the subject that interests me most, that is the
years when Gorbachev was in power and the development of the new course in the Soviet life called
perestroika. From just reading the first paragraph it is obvious that the author approves of the new
leader. Medvedev writes: For the first time in
Soviet history, the leadership succession has meant more than the arrival of a new leader and the
possibility of the implementation of the new policies. The
Gorbachev succession marks the appearance of a new political generation which differs from the old
guard in style, knowledge and historical vision....Gorbachev represents a younger post war political
generation, a generation which started its professional Party or state career during the more liberal
Krushchev era (p. 165). Medvedev quotes some of the very enthusiastic
Western newspaper comments which called Gorbachev a bright, incisive,

The Essay Writing Process
In Greek legend, the goddess of wisdom, Athena, was born fully armed from the head of Zeus.
Unfortunately, this is the only recorded instance of instant wisdom. Especially in the medium of the
written word, the communication of complex ideas is a process a process that requires thinking and
rethinking, working and reworking. The student who claims to have dashed off an A essay at one in

You must find texts on the subject and use them to support the topic you have been given to explore.
Because it is easy to become lost in a wilderness of outside material, you must take particular care to
narrow your topic.
The greatest danger inherent in the research essay is plagiarism. If your paper consists of a string of
quotations or paraphrases with little input of your own, you are not synthesizing but copying, and you
should expect a low grade. If any of the borrowings are unacknowledged, you are plagiarizing, and the
penalties are severe.
A research paper should demonstrate what you have learned, but it should also show that you have a
perspective of your own on the subject.
The Literary Essay
In the literary essay, you are exploring the meaning and construction of a piece of literature. This task
is more complicated than reviewing though the two are similarly evaluative. In a review you are
discussing the overall effect and validity of written work, while in a literary essay you are paying more
attention to specifics.
A literary essay focuses on such elements as structure, character, theme, style, tone and subtext. You
are taking a piece of writing and trying to discover how and why it is put together the way it is. You
must adopt a viewpoint on the work in question and show how the details of the work support your
viewpoint.

Effects Of Downsizing Of The Army Downsizing Essay
Effects of Downsizing The impact of the Army downsizing is nothing new. This rapid demobilization
of forces has transpired after every major conflict. The most recent downsizing effort was from the
Persian Gulf. The Army was an incredibly powerful force around 730,000 in 1990 and rapidly
downsized to 508,000 in 1995. Once again, the Army is repeating itself, projecting to shrink the active
force from 566,000 during the height in 2011 to a speculated 420,000 reaching this in the fiscal year
2017 (Trice, 2015). A disturbing fact is that the unemployment rate for veterans outpaces that of the
rest of the country at 6.8% rate verses that of the non veterans of 5.7% (Watson, 2014). The strain of a
growing unemployment rate among veterans rapidly increases in small towns throughout the United
States especially those where units are deactivating.
Economic Effects As the downsizing and restructure of the Army continues, cities all over the country
also feel the sting of Soldiers leaving the service. Two cities outside of Fort Benning, Phenix City and
Columbus Georgia, have reported they will miss an estimated $229 million dollars in sales due to the
elimination of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team (Adams, 2015). Other concerning factors are the civilian
employees that currently work on Fort Benning. They may also be out of work due to the restructure.
This ripple effect will continue throughout other privately owned businesses. For instance, the
apartments Soldiers currently

The Horrors of Cannibalism
Cannibalism to say the least is a very taboo word. Cannibalism is known to be very disturbing and sets
off a certain set of powerful emotions when spoken about. One thing about cannibalism is that it used
to be considered a normal part of life, and has only recently been seen as taboo in the recent centuries.
Many people believe Cannibalism should be legal world wide, but only have reasoning s of culture
and religions. Cannibalism should be illegal because of immorality, diseases , and murder by eating
someone s flesh. The History of Cannibalism is small, yet widely spread around the world. The
Korowai Tribe has been around since 1974, they are known for killing outsiders, and to be afraid of
pale skinned people (Raffaele). If Cannibalism stays legal, the isolated tribes could possibly expand,
and want to kill any pale skinned person, or anyone not from their tribe. The Carib tribe was the first
known tribe to commit acts of cannibalism to their enemies, which became increasingly rare once the
introduction of Christianity was introduced in the area (Mind Q). Once the human race became more
active in moral behavior, Cannibalism was outcast, giving it no reason to be legal within our current
society. The Aztecs are known as one of the most brutal tribes to date, the Aztecs would commit
thousands of human sacrifices a year (Mind Q). When you have Cannibals eating live hearts (Mind

Sports Help Younger Kids Build Character
P.E. Sports help Younger Kids Build Character
Going to school is not only about learning and making good grades. It is also about making
relationships and learning how to handle situations. In most schools, sports are a way to learn these
things by participating and making the best of it. Even if one is not good and they always get picked
last, sports can have an impact on their life to get better and shock their classmates. In the article I pity
those children forced to do Zumba at school, Jemima Lewis makes an ineffective argument through
her methods of handling opposing points, giving good sources, and writing an argument that is clearly
understood. Jemima Lewis, who hated sports in school, makes the argument that all schools should
ban sports in PE class because they are a waste of time, especially if someone is not good at them. She
was the kid that was always picked last and hoped that the ball never came her way. Jemima dreaded
going to PE class and throughout her childhood despised every sport that the school had forced the
kids to play during that one hour class. She came across an article written by Neil Rollings stating that
instead of having contact sports, schools should have Zumba or Yoga class so kids would not be
judged on their athletic ability and strengths. Jemima liked the idea that sports should be taken out of
the equation, but she found it worse that the schools would add a Zumba or Yoga class. Being a nerd
in school, Jemima Lewis goes

Babe Ruth is an American hero. He transformed baseball from a sport, to a national pastime when it
needed it the most. Coming off of the wake of the Black

dead ball era was dragging on, and there were to few baseball purists left to support it. Baseball was in
search of a new audience, and Babe Ruth handed it to them on a silver platter. Babe Ruth started the
Home run era of baseball. In the dead ball scores of 2 1 1 0 was the norm. With the advent of the

Brother Mathias was the one who introduced Babe to baseball, as a recreational game to play during
the spring. It wasn t long until Babe was the only 13 year old playing on the 16 years and older team.
First as a catcher, then later as a Pitcher. It was here that he first established a prowess for hitting. His

his first professional job. Jack Dunn of the then minor league Baltimore Orioles signed him at the
young age of 17. He played a few years for the Orioles, until Dunn sold him to the Boston Red Sox.
Babe pitched well, finally breaking into the Red Sox starting rotation in 1918. Then the Red Sox ran
into some hard luck, and in search of money sold him for the then huge amount of money, 125,000.
It is often said that New York and Babe Ruth were made for one another, and by the way Babe took
New York by storm, it is hard to dispute the saying. He took an instant liking to the big city, enjoying

The Two-Points Flat Tax System
Section Ⅰ: Introduction
My community decided that the best tax system would be to use the 2 point flat tax across our
community. We decided as a group that it would be fair, because each member would be taxed the
same regardless of their role. The treasurer, and myself being mayor could also map out how many
points we would have for the rest of the semester. This would not have been the same if we had
decided a percentage based tax or one that first needed to know the quiz score. I believe that our
preparation for potential threats to our community prepared us for when they did occur.
Community D padded our budget with 1 point for most categories except welfare and allocated the
rest for savings. When the first ice storm came we used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Furthermore, his ideals do not mention acting morally, but for self preservation. Through all the
changes to the budget, I believe that our community s decisions do represent my opinions on human
nature. For example, when we decided to send the immigrants away, that was for self preservation so
that our community could survive. Community D, five in total, was a fantastic community because we
all worked together to do well in the simulation. Free riders as it relates to the community life project

community members. I do not believe we had any free riders in my community, because we all
realized that each other s voice was equally important. Interaction between group members was
collaborative and respectful throughout the process. I know that we are all different students of various
backgrounds but that we can still work together to find common ground, as we did. There was hardly
any discussion for budget concerns about roads, hospital and welfare because generally we all posted
similar thoughts and someone, Melinda and I would synthesis the thoughts for a vote.
The common good as it related to the community project was

Online Gaming and Fraud in Massive Multiplayer Online...
1. Online Gaming Security and Fraud Throughout the evolution of gaming, there has been a
movement of large communities to online gaming. With that high amount of traffic, these online
games have become prime targets for crime to emerge from. Due to the online nature and virtual
elements of this kind of community, the most common type of crime committed was theft, followed
closely by fraud (Chen 2005). With the increase in online communities from online gaming,
businesses have started advertising both to these markets and through them. This has opened up not
only the online communities to the threat of fraud, but also those businesses and their competitors.
This paper will focus primarily on the Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG)
community, and the ways that fraud is committed in that type of gaming. 2.1 Fraud in MMORPGs
Fraud has been influencing MMORPGs and online gaming for years. The world of online has moved
from being a software license industry to an uplink time payment model due to illegal sharing and
software copying (Chen 2005). With the move to subscription based gameplay, in game items now
have a monetary value due to the growth of economies that trade the virtual game money or items for
real world currency (Chen 2005). Throughout the MMORPGs there has been a trend of criminals
targeting the users of these online games for purposes of theft and fraud, especially when it comes to
the in game currencies and identities. According to a study

Social Intelligence And Social Quotient
I. Abstract:
Gone are the days when one used to think that IQ EQ are only the two components required in a work
place. To keep up, we must be able to present ourselves as a total package in and outside of work.
Therefore the need of Social Quotient has risen for a working professional which is equally important
as Intelligence Quotient Emotional Quotient. The degree of Social Quotient increases when it comes
to working women. This paper would attempt to find reasons of success in working women due to
their Social Quotient. The paper would also cite differences of SQ in male female in their working

My Experience In College Students, Being A College Student
Being a college student who is taking 18 credits this semester as well as working 15 hours a week, I
experience multiple stressors every week that I try my best to deal with. Two stressors I have dealt
with the past two weeks are struggling to manage my time and arguing with my boyfriend. The past
two weeks I had a lot of assignments due as well as a major test and a quiz. I realized it was a stressor
when I got assigned our extra credit paper that was due the day before my major exam. I was already
thinking of how I was going to spend the rest of the week and the weekend to study for my exam and
quiz, prepare for my presentation, keep up with the chapters my classes are reviewing, and work.
When we got assigned the extra credit paper, I panicked a little and realized trying to figure out how to
fit all of it into my schedule was a stressor. I noticed that my heart rate slightly increased from
panicking a little and I got antsy, as in I could not sit still. I have confronted managing my time before,
when I first got my job this semester. Like I said, I am taking 18 credits, so adding working 15 hours a
week took away a lot of study time that I had to figure out how to make up. It actually cuts into my
social life a decent amount, but I live with all of my closest friends and study with them, so I see them
a decent amount. What I typically do when I freak out about how much stuff I have to do and how
little time I have, I start to plan out my days by hour in my planner. I

Argumentative Essay On Color Blind People
Steve Jobs, an inventor, entrepreneur and industrial designer of Apple, once said, The ones who are
crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones that do. While new inventions often do
change the whole world, some change the world for one. Technology has changed the world for
everyone; it has changed the difficulties of life and made them easier for mankind. For the colorblind
person, the invention of the Enchroma color blind assist glasses has not only changed the way people
see, but also changes their lives and the way they interact with the world around them.
Although color blindness affects only a small portion of individuals, it makes a huge impact on their
lives. Color blindness affects approximately eight and a half percent of the world, eight percent of men
and a half percent of women (1). Even though the color blind population is very small, it can be
detrimental to our society. This deficiency should be considered a disability. Some people who suffer
from color blindness can t even tell the difference from a red traffic light to a green traffic light; this
can cause automobile crashes which endanger the life of the color blind and everyone else involved. In

Profitability and liquidity ratios are impressive and continue to reflect the company s ability to

The Married Life
Marriage is crucial to all adults. Couples need to value their marriage so that they can remain happy
and enjoy life while they are married. For a family to be well established, the couples need to place
more value in their marriages. The reason why most families break up is that most of the couples do
not value or prioritize their family issues. Most of the couples take their personal interests as their first
priority, which make them to neglect their families and this becomes the source of conflict. A good
example is seen in families where the husband loves football more than his family thus, he spends a
lot of time watching football. Such a husband will most likely neglect his family because family just
in order to enjoy watching football. If there are problems in such a family, the wife will not solve them
alone, as she requires the husband s effort. For a family to live well, both husband and wife need to
commit themselves to each other first in their relationship. This is very important in every marriage
because good relationship between the husband and wife helps to ensure unity and success of the
family.
There is need to establish a good relationship between couples because this helps them in solving their
marriage and family problems harmoniously. Statistics show that a family with good relationship
among the partners will solve their problems harmoniously (Guest, 32). The reason for a couple to get
married is to give each other mutual relationship where each of

Analysis of Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird, by...
Wallace Stevens is not an easy poet to understand. His work is purposely twisted and tangled so one is
forced to thing whether they want to or not. Stevens poetry ranges from real life situations to
situations which are simply a depiction of his imagination. One thing can be concluded though,
Stevens does not allow his work to have a single meaning. Why should he? This is the upmost quality
that makes his stand out from his competitors in the poetic industry. An interesting theme though
which Wallace truly enjoys writing about, in all seriousness, is something thought provoking
perception. The book definition of perception is appending [something] by the means of senses or the

This is where one can see the new role the blackbird is playing. A new perception of the bird. It is now
part of one s conscious. It does not have an on or off button that any human can control just like a

couple more times in the work. It is choices. It this specific case it is clear that the individuals the
speaker is referring to do not have a choice but to acknowledge the bird. In the fifth part on the other
hand, once again a new idea is presented and this is not the case. Here the bird becomes an objectified
beauty but this doesn t last long because as the sixth part approaches, the readers once again return to
the winter time filled with icicles (Stevens 17 19). A circular pattern can now be seen with the seasons.
Another hint of a continuous process occurring the process of perception.
In the seventh stanza the speaker calls up the thin men of Haddam (a city in Connecticut) and asks
about the golden birds (Stevens 25 26). He goes on to say that the Blackbird walks around the feet of
the women about [them] (Stevens 28 29). What could he possibly mean? Loazi, a philosophical
author, wrote in his book that one should Know the masculine, keep to the feminine. With that being
said, when the lines from the poem are re evaluated, it can be seen that the

Gentrification Of Death Essay
Gentrification of death: Behind London s burial crisis Seven boroughs in London contain no new
grave space, and a further 19 will be unable to meet expected demand for burials over the next 20
years, according to local authorities. The shortage of burial space in the capital is reaching a critical
stage in many of its 32 boroughs. Data shows that the majority of them currently lack the capacity to
supply enough graves to meet the level of demand suggested by mortality projections over the next

The Council doesn t even have to get permission from families of the private graves, or even actually
find the families. Councils only have to show they tried to find them. However, Council spokesman
John Wade, said the local authority does not currently reuse graves but may in the future. A similar
scheme is already in place in the City of London, Cemetery Crematorium, where more than 1,500
graves have been reused. The 161 year old cemetery was on the verge of running out of space when
officials decided to begin reusing graves in 2009. It has proven to be a popular choice, with over 60
per cent of burials there now in reused graves. Trevor Davis, Westminster cemeteries manager,
believes the most effective way to stop cemeteries from overflowing is by reusing graves. He said:
New graves can continue to be developed on an indefinite basis as required through
overfill/overvaulting and through reuse. To avoid reusing graves, some cemeteries in London have
created new burial plots. A Greater London Authority audit from 2010 reported that Brockley
Ladywell Cemetery in Lewisham found new burial space by demolishing chapels and clearing land.
Even so, the entire authority of Lewisham will run out of spaces at its four cemeteries in between eight
and 10 years, said Council spokeswoman Alison Beck. Death by the numbers The shortage of burial

Everyday Life Sociology
All interpretation of our world is based on previous experiences of it both our own and others. It is
given to us when we are born to experience and interpret. The world of everyday life, or everyday
social world, is an intersubjective world that existed long before our birth, experienced and interpreted
by Others, our predecessors, as an organised world. (Schutz, 1962 1996: 208) This world isn t a
private world, it is common to all of us, and provides the scene and object of our actions and
interactions. Our everyday social world is shaped by our actions, our actions are influenced by the
environment we exist in. Understanding this world gives us a chance to view how personal and
interpersonal relationships intersect with relations of power and broader social identities. (Robin

Canadian Identity In Canada
Canadian identity refers to the unique culture, characteristics and the condition of being Canadian, as
well as the many symbols and expressions that set Canada and the citizens apart from other people and
cultures of the world. There is an enormous amount of factors when it comes to Canada s identity and
as time goes one it becomes stronger and stronger. As mentioned above, people have been
immigrating to the nation for centuries, and with them they bring their cultures and traditions
strengthening the multicultural aspects of Canadian identity. No nation has a set identity, every day the
world is changing and with it so does the identity of the people. In an instant a nation could change its
values and other aspects. For example, pre American Revolution the identity that the United States had
included how it was a colony of Great Britain, after the revolution is garnered a new identity as its
own nation.
As well of opportunities there is a great deal of challenges that affect identity on a daily basis. Canada
has had a lot of challenges towards its identity to overcome, regional alienation, American influences,
and separatism. For instance, Canada has always experienced alienation, whether it be due to
geography or one s heritage. Regional alienation occurs due to the fact that Canada is such a large and
vast country, which only furthers the feeling of separation between Canadians. The western provinces
of Canada British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and

A child holds innocence from a young age and does not understand the importance of having

Lizabeth does not care about Miss Lottie s feelings until after she destroyed the flowers. In effect,
having Lizabeth destroy the marigolds gives Lizabeth a lesson that would turn her into a
compassionate person. The night that the flowers became destroyed, Lizabeth had heard an argument
between her parents. Significantly, she did not like how her father was being weak while her mother
was being strong. Then, to let all her emotions out, she went to Miss Lottie s house to destroy the
marigolds. After her deed, Lizabeth calms down and realizes Miss Lottie saw the mess. This moment
was when Lizabeth realizes her destruction on the marigolds. The moment she saw Miss Lottie and
her expression of the mess, Lizabeth comes to a realization of why Miss Lottie planted marigolds.
Thinking back on her past, Lizabeth said Yet, there are times when the image of those passionate
yellow mounds return with a painful poignancy. For one does not have to be ignorant and poor to find
that one s life is barrens the dusty yards of one s town. And I too have planted marigolds (30). Every

government agencies such as the Labor Department is not doing its job to enforce the regulations. I
agree with Nir s argument, the government relevant agencies, in this case the Labor Department failed
to fulfil its primary duty and enforce the regulations on nail salons in order to prevent them from
illegal business practices. If The New York Times reporter would not have done her job as a
responsible citizen and a journalist, the situation would have continued in these nail salons without

25 Million Car Research Paper
When you decide to start looking for a new car, you normally have a price range that you would like
to stay in. Of course, when it comes to different add ons and features, the price may seem to get way
out of hand very fast. However, surely there is a car out there that is more expensive than what you are
planning on getting. Of course there are. Some cars manage to rank up the price to over and above a
million dollars. Can you imagine getting a car loan for that? The 2012 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 can cost
you about $2.25 million. So, for those of you who are billionaires, that is probably just pocket change
right? What makes this a $2.25 million car is not only its sleek stylish design that would take James
Bond s breath away, but it would probably blow his hair off of his head. The Veyron has a 16 cylinder
engine and 1001 horsepower. Its top speed is 253 and can reach it in about 42.3 seconds, which is
pretty impressive seeing as the car weighs around 4,160 pounds. For those of you who don t have
$2.25 million to spend on the Veyron, perhaps you may want to look at the Pagani Zonda F Coupe,
which is only $1.4 million. This Italian car is well worth the million though. It has a V12, 6 speed
engine with twin plate clutch. With a 214 mph top speed, the Zonda Coupe is a little shy of matching
the Veyron s top speed, but does go ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Mussel Research Paper
Mussels are incredibly fascinating creatures that deserve some investigation. I ve had the opportunity
to learn about mussels from local experts in state and federal government agencies and from my
colleagues in academia, who can speak much more accurately to mussel biology than I, but I will
enumerate some key points that make mussels worth thinking about. Mussels are much more than
living rocks (although this is what they most resemble); mussel shells come in a wide variety of
shapes, sizes, and surface textures. Adult mussel shell length ranges from 1 to 10 inches for different
species. With common names like warty back , threeridge , heelsplitter or pocketbook , you can
imagine the shell sculpture for each of these species with bumps, ... Show more content on

Mussels do have one foot, which allows them to anchor into sediment or crawl along slowly
(generally inches to feet a day at most). Unlike oysters or clams, freshwater mussels have a unique life
cycle that depends on a parasitic relationship with a host fish. It is this relationship that allows mussels
to spread throughout a river network. Female mussels release mussel larvae (called glochidia) which
must attach to the gills of a suitable host where they will grow and develop for several weeks before
dropping off of the fish as juvenile mussels. Many mussel species have evolved intricate methods to
attract the appropriate fish host to ensure successful attachment of glochidia. These methods range
from displaying elaborate lures that mimic fish, to developing packages of glochidia that resemble fish
food, to physically capturing the unsuspecting fish host long enough to infest the fish with glochidia.
These adaptations are next to impossible to observe in the wild without a snorkel, scuba gear, and/or
lots of time and the expertise on when and where to look, but the curious can check out the array of
videos online (http://molluskconservation.org/MUSSELS/Adaptation.html). As they grow, mussels
can keep a record of the water chemistry and environmental conditions in their shells. Like trees,
mussels develop rings as they grow. The size of each grow ring can show

This simplification sometimes has its own problems that can in turn be addressed by reframing. The deliberate and conscious management, reformation and refinement of frames that aims to address and minimize the conflict between how things are and how one perceives it, is called reframing. It is what countries spend a large portion of their budgets on sometimes upwards of 500 billion dollars. Before supersonic jets or nuclear bombs the advancements in guns and firearms were revered as breakthroughs that would slaughter hundreds. A big leap in western gun technology came during the American Civil War as each side struggled to get the upper hand in the war. Born through this fire of combat came the rifle musket and the minié bullet. What made the weapon so effective was its ability to fire at a decent distance and actually stand a chance at hitting its target. These weapons are considered useless compared to more modern ... This chemical ignites the gunpowder inside the casing and fires the bullet. The problem with this method is that the casing has to be skinny enough to be crushed but still funnel all the energy of the gunpowder into the bullet without breaking. The centerfire was meant to fix that while it was louder you could have a much more powerful round but having a small circle of primer stick out the back of the casing. The firing pin would hit just the primer igniting the gunpowder without crushing the casing. This meant you could have a thicker casing to fire a larger bullet. Along with centerfire bullets and guns came another advancement that we still use to this day in almost every common military rifle. The Army was an incredibly powerful force around 730,000 in 1990 and rapidly downsized to 508,000 in 1995. Once again, the Army is repeating itself, projecting to shrink the active force from 566,000 during the height in 2011 to a speculated 420,000 reaching this in the fiscal year 2017 (Trice, 2015). My Experience In College Students, Being A College Student Being a college student who is taking 18 credits this semester as well as working 15 hours a week, I experience multiple stressors every week that I try my best to deal with. Two stressors I have dealt with the past two weeks are struggling to manage my time and arguing with my boyfriend. The past two weeks I had a lot of assignments due as well as a major test and a quiz. I realized it was a stressor when I got assigned our extra credit paper that was due the day before my major exam. I was already thinking of how I was going to spend the rest of the week and the weekend to study for my exam and quiz, prepare for my presentation, keep up with the chapters my classes are reviewing, and work. When we got assigned the extra credit paper, I panicked a little and realized trying to figure out how to fit all of it into my schedule was a stressor. I noticed that my heart rate slightly increased from panicking a little and I got antsy, as in I could not sit still. I have confronted managing my time before, when I first got my job this semester. Like I said, I am taking 18 credits, so adding working 15 hours a week took away a lot of study time that I had to figure out how to make up. It actually cuts into my social life a decent amount, but I live with all of my closest friends and study with them, so I see them a decent amount. Color blindness affects approximately eight and a half percent of the world, eight percent of men and a half percent of women (1). Even though the color blind population is very small, it can be detrimental to our society. This deficiency should be considered a disability. One thing can be concluded though, Stevens does not allow his work to have a single meaning. Why should he? This is the upmost quality that makes his stand out from his competitors in the poetic industry. A new theme is suggested in this part which makes its way up to the top a couple more times in the work. It is choices. It this specific case it is clear that the individuals the speaker is referring to do not have a choice but to acknowledge the bird. In the fifth part on the other hand, once again a new idea is presented and this is not the case. Here the bird becomes an objectified beauty but this doesn t last long because as the sixth part approaches, the readers once again return to the winter time filled with icicles (Stevens 17 19). A circular pattern can now be seen with the seasons. Another hint of a continuous process occurring the process of perception. In the seventh stanza the speaker calls up the thin men of Haddam (a city in Connecticut) and asks about the golden birds (Stevens 25 26). He goes on to say that the Blackbird walks around the feet of the women about [them] (Stevens 28 29). What could he possibly mean? This Italian car is well worth the million though. It has a V12, 6 speed engine with twin plate clutch. With a 214 mph top speed, the Zonda Coupe is a little shy of matching the Veyron s top speed, but does go ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 43. Mussel Research Paper Mussels are incredibly fascinating creatures that deserve some investigation. I ve had the opportunity to learn about mussels from local experts in state and federal government agencies and from my colleagues in academia, who can speak much more accurately to mussel biology than I, but I will enumerate some key points that make mussels worth thinking about. Mussels are much more than living rocks (although this is what they most resemble); mussel shells come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and surface textures. Adult mussel shell length ranges from 1 to 10 inches for different species. With common names like warty back , threeridge , heelsplitter or pocketbook , you can imagine the shell sculpture for each of these species with bumps, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mussels do have one foot, which allows them to anchor into sediment or crawl along slowly (generally inches to feet a day at most). Unlike oysters or clams, freshwater mussels have a unique life cycle that depends on a parasitic relationship with a host fish. It is this relationship that allows mussels to spread throughout a river network. Female mussels release mussel larvae (called glochidia) which must attach to the gills of a suitable host where they will grow and develop for several weeks before dropping off of the fish as juvenile mussels. Many mussel species have evolved intricate methods to attract the appropriate fish host to ensure successful attachment of glochidia. These methods range from displaying elaborate lures that mimic fish, to developing packages of glochidia that resemble fish food, to physically capturing the unsuspecting fish host long enough to infest the fish with glochidia. These adaptations are next to impossible to observe in the wild without a snorkel, scuba gear, and/or lots of time and the expertise on when and where to look, but the curious can check out the array of videos online (http://molluskconservation.org/MUSSELS/Adaptation.html). As they grow, mussels can keep a record of the water chemistry and environmental conditions in their shells. Like trees, mussels develop rings as they grow. The size of each grow ring can show ...
