Alternative Beverages As A Competitive Global Market
Alternative beverages have become global and innovate in recent years. They are everywhere and
most people have tried one or two of these beverages. These alternative beverages have evolves into
what is known to most as energy drinks, sport drinks and vitamin drinks. The international market has
expanded and so have the sales of these products. The market has continued to change through brands
and differentiation from each other over the years. The recognition of the brands and growth are
significant as demands for the alternative beverages increase. Product innovation is one of the market
s drivers of change in this industry. It is said to be one of the most important features. Innovation is
important when creating a competitive global market. Alternative beverages compete to change from
the tradition carbonated drinks because people are becoming more health conscience. Most alternate
beverages have a differentiation in taste and this is how the companies attempt to gain loyal
customers. All the beverages are unique in their own way. As a result of marketing, packaging,
celebrities and endorsements this helps to create an image. Depending on the ads, this can be very
beneficial for the company. The consumers of energy drink are getting younger and younger. This has
a lot to do with the innovation of the brand. The marketing ads show young people enjoying these
beverages after and during sporting events, fitness, or other strenuous activities. These

Cardiac Arrest Analysis
Approximately three hundred thousand cardiac arrests occur annually in the United States, making it
one of the leading causes of death nationally (1). Pulseless electrical activity (PEA) is one of the most
common forms of cardiac arrest and is generally associated with poor patient outcomes. It has been
widely theorized that a focused cardiac ultrasound exam (FoCUS) can play both a diagnostic and a
prognostic role during PEA cardiac arrest; however, it has not been adequately studied to date. This
paper explores the theory and current evidence supporting the utilization of a FoCUS exam during
cardiac arrest presenting with PEA in order to recognize its potential role in resuscitative guidelines.

Laguna Fire 1970
Laguna Fire 1970 On September 26, 1970 due to power lines that were knocked down, and with the
increase of winds near the Kitchen Creek area, the Laguna fire began. Only within twenty four hours
the fire had already expanded towards El Cajon and Spring Valley, which is thirty miles away from the
original spot where the fire began. According to the article titled, Laguna fire, September 26, 1970
published on the website WildFire Today stated that The Laguna fire burned 175,425 acres, killed
eight civilians, and destroyed 382 homes. The Laguna Fire was said to be the second largest fire in
Californian history. Within the same article a firefighter shares his experience to the news of The
Laguna Fire he states, The day the Laguna fire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Laguna Fire was said to be the biggest fire during that particular time. Because of its negative
impact on the communities of Harbison Canyon and Crest it resulted in the construction of The
Modular Airborne Firefighting System. This system allows for firefighters to use aircrafts to contain
and stop wildfires at great lengths and one hundred percent effectiveness. The Laguna Fire resulted in
impactful changes to fire suppression and fire ground tactics. In addition, the design of the five tanks
allowed for quick and effective transitions. Due to its short loading time it allows for faster
preparation for when a wildfire may occur. Which is a key factor when dealing with wildfires.
Furthermore, The Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System was updated to better help the firefighters
when transporting the tanks. The newly developed system which is Modular Airborne Fire Fighting
System II redesigned the tanks. Instead of five huge tanks they changed it and made one ginormous
tank. Referring back to the article titled, MAFFS II Making an Impact it mentions, The MAFFS II
systems allow the MAFFS aircraft to be loaded at the same bases as the larger civilian air tankers due
to the built in compressors used to pressurize their load of fire retardant to be forced out of the aircraft.
this is another reason why the new Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System II is extremely effective
and widely used. The Firefighter s do not have to stop at certain bases to have the tanks pressurized,
because with the new development with the two compressors inside the aircrafts they can just
pressurize the tanks there, and the 24 hour resource allows for better access to these military aircrafts
to be used. Because they are a twenty four hour resource it means that they have twenty four hours to
arrive on the scene of the fire. Furthermore, the process of

How Did Nationalism Cause Ww2
People would do anything in order to ensure that their country would be the greatest in the world.
They do this because of nationalism, a very extreme form of belief and loyalty towards ones country.
This lead to many people believing their country was perfect; unequaled in economic, military, and
political power. Nationalism was very popular in the late 18th and 19th centuries; countries were
promoting nationalism in order to keep their citizens loyal. It played an important role in generating
conflict and revolutions during the World Wars and the Interwar years. WW1 s direct cause was the
assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, an event that was caused specifically because of
nationalism, but many other events that were also rooted by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Germany lost more than 13% of its land due to the limitations set by the treaty of Versailles, and the
people were outraged. It was soon said by Adolf Hitler, the restoration of the frontiers of 1914 could
be achieved only by blood ; showing that he knew that he must wage war if he wanted to regain the
lost land (Hitler, Mein Kampf). Once he came to power, Hitler was able to rally the people using the
idea of Lebensraum, or living space for the German people. The people were excited for Hitler
because they truly believed he would be the one to restore their losses. People soon began to follow
him more willingly, joining his Nazi party and increasing it substantially. He then invaded Poland, the
first step in his plan to conquer all of Germany s former lands. Japan waged war against China for the
same reason. More land was needed for the growing population, and the resources in Manchuria were
needed as well. Japan staged the Mukden incident to legitimize their reason for invasion, and this
depicts the effect that nationalism had on Japan s leader. They went as far as to stage an explosion on
their own train tracks to give them a reason for invading another country. These two ideas, the
Mukden incident and Lebensraum, show that nationalism led to the leaders of Japan and Germany to
go to the extreme in order to make their country a better place for themselves and for the people living

Homosexual Marriage Australia
Why not Australia? Australia is considered to be one of the most accepting country in the world. But
why is homosexual marriage still illegal?
Australia has come along way in regards to accepting and acknowleding gay and lesbian relationships.
Sodomy laws were part of Australian law, from 1788 through to 1994 under Human Rights (Sexual
Conduct) Act 1994. The punishment was reduced from execution to life in prison in 1899. Today,
homophobia still exsists, however being gay or lesbian it is no longer institutionalised or illegal.
Accourding to http://www.australianmarriageequality.org/ Public opinion poll (2009 2012) 64% of
Austrlian support gay marriage and 81% of young people (18 24 years) support marriage equality.

Many anti gay people use the argument that if gay marriage was made legal, other changes such as
allowing muliple wives, would have to be made. However this is proven wrong, as seen in the
countries who have already legalised gay marriage have not experience those reprecussions.
The Catholic Church is strongly opposed to legalising gay marriage in Australia. Acoording to the
Don t mess with marriage report A Pastoral Letter from the Catholic Bishops of Australia to all
Australians onthe Same sex Marriage Debate, their definition of marriage is that it involves a
substantial bodily and spiritual union of a man and a woman. The Church believes this union is
centred around and ordered not only to the wellbeing of the spouses but also towards the generation
and wellbeing of children. However it has been found that people in same sex couples are more highly
educated and are more likely to be in highly skilled occupations than people in heterosexual
couples. In measures of general health and family cohesion children aged 5 to 17 years with same sex
attracted parents had significantly better scores when compared to Australian children from all other
backgrounds and family contexts. With regard to academic performance, the evidence is that lesbian
and gay parented children perform as well as or better than their peers raised in hetrosexual couple
families. This information was found on the Australian Governement, Australian institute of family
studies website. These statistics and facts prove that there is so big difference between same sex

Social Media s Impact On Society
In today s society not all people welcome social media into their lives and thus restrict their access and
or involvement when it comes to the abundances of social media outlets. However, social media has
indeed taken the lives of our children, adolescents, and families by the collar. Social media plays a
pivotal part affecting everyday life as we know it today. Despite these claims, the advancements in
technology have evolved, thus creating a society that thrives on the dependency of social media
outlets. This addiction is the craving of being instantly connected to everything and everyone. Being
connected and having instant access to this so called Information Highway, surely allows for
convenience and simplicity, but this also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Over the past years, social media truly has become something much more than just the typical esoteric
jumble of technologies, but instead has driven contemporary culture offering sites and services to
accommodate everyone and everything your heart desires. With advancements in technology
becoming the forefront of our information and communication ecosystem. These social networking
platforms are literally taking over the business arena becoming the driving force in determining
whether a business is staying relevant, not to mention taking advantage of emerging opportunities. As
of today there have been a surge of social media outlets which have made their way into mainstream
society. Today, many of these platforms are commonly known as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram,
Pinterest, Snapchat, LinkedIn, LinkedIn Pulse, Google+, Xing, Renren, Disqus, Tumblr, Twoo,
MyMFB, YouTube and Vine. When browsing these particular sites people become connected to a
much larger community with a press of a button. These online or virtual communities occasionally
trump the populations of countries. However, such ease with these casual connections in a very fast
paced technological world also has many downsides. Social media has made it much more
complicated for people to distinguish between meaningful and productive relationships in which we
foster and cherish for the long haul versus the numerous casual relationships formed through social
media.

Pros And Cons Of Violence In Video Games
Ever since the nineteen eighties people, usually politicians and the news media, have been quick to
blame video games for societal woes, saying violence in video games causes violent behavior and
makes people anti social. Some have even argued video games cause racism, sexism, and cause health
problems, but most research that points towards video games being bad are inconsistent and
sometimes contradictory. And yet people still want to restrict and censor video games, even though
they are an art form just like film or paintings or what have you, and because they are an art form they
are a form of media and are protected under the first amendment. Violent video games do not cause
real world violence like any art form they only mirror the violence of the real world, and it is
contradictory to think that they cause actual violence. Video games have even been shown to be
healthy, they relieve stress and increase hand eye coordination, and are a positive, non violent form of
relieving aggression in a way that does not cause physical harm to others.
The ESRB video game rating system which was introduced in the nineteen nineties and it is not
legally binding and yet most retailers treat video games as if they were alcohol and tobacco corrupting
the youth. Unlike tobacco and alcohol they do not put toxic chemicals into a person s body unlike any
sort of drug legal or otherwise. While a person can die from lack of physical activity video games
alone cannot kill someone, since video

gross margins by manufacturing solely in low cost markets. In March 2002 it closed its factory in

This means that almost half of Burberry s sales at retail value will continue to be produced under

products. Sanyo is now creating to this demand for a snob alternative to the Burberry products made
in its factories across Asia by opening a flagship store in Tokyo s Ginza, where it sells Burberry

The Three Phases Of Siddhartha
next phase, he is met with physical pleasures when he is introduced to Kamala, a beautiful courtesan.
He sheds off all his ascetic ways and becomes a samsara i.e. a worldly man. After some time the
monotony of this life catches up with him and he feels the need to move forward. This marks the end
of the second phase of his life. He plunges into the third phase sorrowful not having found true sense
of freedom and happiness in life. While sitting on a boat chatting with the boatman, he expresses his
grief. The boatman, a simple common man gives the answers to all of Siddhartha s questions by
simply giving the analogy of the river. He explains to Siddhartha that life is like a river. This simple
philosophy that the boatman share with Siddhartha is enough to wake him and jolt him to life. He
realises that running behind happiness will never make one happy. You have to be still and content
with the way life is and happiness will come to you. He then takes over the job of rowing the boat on

The vocabulary is simple and yet striking. The theme is so powerful in itself that probably Orwell
regarded that the use of simple vocabulary would still be equally prominent. It certainly brings out the
beauty of the narrative. The plot unfolds in a way that is easily predictable. There is a definite
beginning, middle and an end. George Orwell primarily uses first person narrative (which is Winston s

use of narrative helps the story to open up on two distinct levels. One is personal, from the point of
view of the character that lives the story. The other is a general perspective which is open to

Answer:
TPG is overwhelmingly acting as a financial buyer.
Firstly, picking up Ducati as its target company is quite opportunistic. From the traditional investment
style s point of view, TPG is interested in those companies that had grown rapidly but still had the
corporate structures of very small companies which caused great stress to the management of the
business, and the assets of their target companies always being considered to be divided in order to

J. D. Salinger s The Catcher In The Rye
Catcher in the Rye is a very confusing book. Usually you can kind of guess what is going to happen
next. For an example when Holden, the main character, is arguing with his roommate Stradlater you
could tell that they were going to get physical with each other. Holden has a lot of conflicts that an
everyday person would not encounter. I have never seen any 16 year old have to deal with the
problems he has had. He is at the weird age where he is becoming an adult but yet he is still a child.
Being 16 is a very awkward stage, most of the time people are very indecisive just like Holden. They
react in their own way not like a child but not like an adult either. He has his ways but usually it is the
wrong way. He is very immature for 16 but yet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

kids to get older and have to see the world for what he thinks it is. Like he says here all he wants is for
kids to be kids not have to go into the adult world which would be like them going off of the cliff like
is says in the quote, he is in the limbo between childhood and adulthood. Anyway, I keep picturing all
these little kids playing some game in this big field of rye and all. Thousands of little kids, and nobody

have to do, I have to catch everybody if they start to go over the cliff I mean if they re running and
they don t look where they re going I have to come out from somewhere and catch them. That s all I d
do all day. I d just be the catcher in the rye and all. Salinger pg.

Mexico s Current Political System
Mexico s official name is the United Mexican states. Mexico s current political system derives from
the Constitution of 1917, which arose from the Mexican Revolution. The Constitution captures the
ideals of the Revolution and reflects three centuries of Spanish colonial rule. The Constitution protects
the rights of workers, peasants, and organizations. It guarantees the right to have an eight hour
workday, rights for women and children workers, and rights for minimum wage being sufficient
enough to satisfy the necessities of life. In order to make a change to the constitution requires there
needs to be the approval of both houses of the federal legislature and the approval of at least 17 of the
32 state legislatures. (Geo Mexico) Mexico s political system is a federal republic based on
presidential democracy. The government has three branches: executive, legislative, and judicial. The
executive branch is the most important. The president serves a six year term and cannot be re elected.
The president appoints the 18 cabinet secretaries who run their ministries and they rarely ever meet.
Only the president is has the power to veto bills and enforce/execute laws. Mexico does not have a
vice president, the constitution provides a process by which, in the case that the president becomes
vacant before the election, the Congress chooses a temporary president and then holds a new election.
The Mexican legislature is composed of a lower house called the Chamber of Deputies and an

When a rabbit is involuntarily taken into a home with minimal notice and insufficient means to

home of tranquil cats and placed into one of chaotic dogs, total objection is warranted and granted.
Each pet has earned their own God given right to feel safe and loved in their home. In this event,
Penelope (Penny) the rabbit requests separation from the dogs of the Guyer household on the grounds
that those individuals are a source of stress and potential emotional and physical harm for her. Thus

He chases Penelope into her cage when he mistakes her binkies for a game, causing her extensive
stress and engaging her predator recognition instincts.
After silent pleas to her humans and obvious distress around the dogs, there has been no improvement
in the living situation. The only solution to her appeals is to keep Penelope encaged more often, thus
keeping her separate from the dogs. This solution only causes the rabbit more stress and
dissatisfaction as she is deprived from the exercise and recreation she requires. Should Penelope
continue to have interaction with the dogs or be fixed into her cage for extended periods of time, she
will have increased stress levels, poor health, and a shortened lifespan.
I, therefore, as Penelope s caretaker and voice, appeal to both the dogs, Rocky and Sammy, and the
owners of the Guyer household, Jeremy and Amy, for Penelope to be allowed free reign of a dog free
space and unlimited exercise for the sake of her physical and mental well being. I stand in solidarity

any culture or tradition. Seeing how the dancers and the powwow itself have adapted to contemporary

During the time period that the Phar Mor fraud took place it was one of the most elaborate frauds of
the 1980 s so could SOX prevented the fraud? The answer is debatable because of the extent that Phar
Mor went to cover up the fraud it may have taken several years still to uncover it however, in the long
run I do believe SOX would have prevented the fraud from lasting almost a full decade without being
detected, and would not have been uncovered had it not been for a whistle blower. I think the most
important sections of SOX that would have helped uncover the fraud at Phar Mor are as follows
Section 203 Which deals with the auditors and any possible conflict of interest if they had worked
with Phar Mor in the last calendar year they would have not been able to be the same auditors doing
final audits of the company.
Section 206 Which states that any auditor who had previously worked for the firm and now works for
Phar Mor would cause the firm to not be able to have Phar Mor as a client. Phar Mor had 3 former
employees of the audit firm who worked for them which allowed them the knowledge to know that the

South Asian region is considered the heartland of present times owing to its geo strategic location. Its
location has evoked much interest among the major powers of the world. Conventionally, the region of
South Asian has served as a hub of attractive economic activity for the other states out of the region. It

quite insightful and purposefully significant regions of the world. China, Central Asia and Russia are

Its importance has further increased after the incident of 9/11 which posed a direct threat to the
security of this region and due to extremist element and US presence in this region. Apart from the
external factors that are causing serious security threats to the South Asian region, one cannot turn a
blind eye from the growing internal conflicts and their impacts in the regional security and strategic
stability of this region. Particularly, one cannot deny the fact that South Asian security is directly
associated with the relations between the two significant South Asian states i.e. India and Pakistan.
The Issue of security dates back to 1947 when the sub continent was divided between India and
Pakistan. So the division created the problems of land dispute between two countries including
Kashmir, Siacheen and Sir Creek. The geographical division also created water dispute between two
countries because of handing over Ferozpur headwork to India that led to India s control of water. This
situation was later on resolved by World Bank through Indus Basin Treaty through which the two
western rivers were given to India and Pakistan was given a specific Share in water of Indus. Now that
share of water is being disputed by India.
The two South Asian neighboring countries Pakistan and India have a unmitigated record of tensions
for number of assorted issues including Kashmir dispute, cross border terrorist activities,

Louis Armstrong Song Analysis
Summary: Louis Armstrong singing is remarkable. I can understand why he inspired so many people
in the music industry. What I love about this album is his singing and his form in trumpet playing.
Listening to Armstrong voice, as well as his lyrics, flushes away my sorrow when I listen to What a
Wonderful World and Sittin in the Sun. These types of songs help me appreciate what I have.
Armstrong duet with Bing Cosby is adorable. Gone Fishin song has humor, in addition, both man
scats singing makes me smile. Armstrong and Cosby voices work well in numerous levels together.
When you Smile (The World Smile with you) is one of my favorites. I can never get enough of this
song. The way Armstrong plays his trumpet is truly tremendous the timing of his trumpet playing with
his notes is on point.

My Family Are Having A Wonderful Christmas Season !
Hey there Gina, I hope you and your family are having a wonderful Christmas season! I was going
though a bin of old photos a while ago and found some photos of your baptism, I thought I d give
them to you in case you didn t get a copy, or if you did and they got lost or something. As for the
book... Well a few months ago I was looking at deals in the kindle store in the Christian section, and
after reading the introduction chapter within the book, I was encouraged and impressed so I bought the
kindle version for myself for a couple of dollars. I was reading it a few weeks ago, and was like, Wow,
the content here is so good! I should totally get a couple of copies to give to some of the moms that I
know who have their hands full with young ones. And anyways, you were one of the people I thought
of I think I had watched the video of Wesley frustrated with writing the letter B a few days before, so
that might explain it. Haha. I remember during a sermon hearing the pastor say that 10% of the words
that Jesus used in the gospels were direct quotes form the scriptures (the old testament), I say that
because one of the reasons I find Treasuring Christ When Your Hands Are Full to be so encouraging is
because it seems to me (from what I ve read so far) that about 50% of the words that Gloria uses are
direct quotes from scripture. It s rare for me to find a book so encouraging, and that illuminates my
heart to the word of God, books like this only seem to come along every few

The beginning of this new jazz age sparked a time of immense change, changes that gave this decade a

a social war. The Nineteen Twenties were a turning point in society due to many reasons; those being
social and cultural changes, new literature and authors emerging, and the economy on the brink of
greatness.
This time period brought significant changes in lifestyle and culture. Social and cultural innovations
began in leading metropolitan centers such as Chicago, New York, New Orleans, Los Angeles, and
Philadelphia, then spread more widely (Culture). Traditionalist, however, were opposed to moving to a

The United States economy prospered during the war, factories became very efficient. They made
weapons and turned out supplies for the war. After the fighting ended, the same factories began
making peace time products. (Corrigan 6) Before the war, many jobs were confined to either farms or
handyman jobs. With the demand of wartime products such as guns, ammunition, and uniforms,
factories provided americans with millions of jobs. Young, old, skilled, and unskilled, were working
long hours in these factories; and they were working for little or no pay. As well as these factories
providing jobs for Americans, they also provided jobs to the millions of immigrants, who also worked
for little to no pay. Also due to the improvement of technology, came the invention of the assembly
line which brought mass production and jobs. Washing machines, microwaves, radios, and
automobiles were some of many of the new modern conveniences. The rich became much richer
during this decade, but many poor people did not benefit at all from the country s growth. (Corrigan 6)
The social classes stayed the same, this was a result of the new American Dream . The wealthy began
to be driven by wealth and money. The two upper classes split into two: ones with new money, and
those with old. Those with old money usually inherited it in the form of land, investments, or money.
Ones with new money, were often very young and spent their money

Internship Interflection
My end of internship impression of Menards has changed a lot over the duration of my time in many
ways that the corporate office does actually care about its team member by offering a benefits
package, offering team members on weeks adding an extra $2.50 to the hourly wage, whenever a
national holiday comes around John Menards Jr. will send a letter with a card that offer you to buy
something in the store for free or offers a check that can be used in the store, and every team member
also can receive a 10% discount on any purchase with the store too. Another way that surprised me
was if you hard work, your managers notice, and inform corporate office that you make receive a
small pay increase. My opinion of the workplace knows I have realized that the strict with their
policies and procedures, but honestly, they seem to be more of a guideline on what to follow, it is
actually more of a laid back work environment but in a good that managers don t micromanage. Some
takeaways from my internship at Menard, is I have discovered that I have a hidden talent for sales that
did not know about. An example of this they have been guest that have asked have you worked retail
before because I was impressed with quality of service you just offered. I learned a lot about myself
that I have more patients than I give myself credit for because they are days I am working with a guest

High Stakes Testing In Schools Summary
Summary This article discusses the various effects that high stakes testing has on different schools
throughout the country. This article focuses mainly on the negative aspects regarding high stakes
testing; however, the article also has a few positive aspects regarding high stakes testing as well. A
few examples of effects that occurs with high stakes testing are things such as the following: cheating
(in many different forms), misinterpretation and misrepresentation, pressure amongst students and
faculty, as well as many other examples. This article discusses how not only the students were being
caught cheating, but the teachers and even the administration in the school. Most of the staff would

There were some interesting points that were made throughout the article, some that I totally agree
with and some that were very surprising to me. One of the main points discussed is how the pressure
is steadily rising among students to have the best scores as they possibly can on the tests. With an
incline in technological advances, students have more accessibility to sources that can be very
beneficial to them at the time. However, it can also lead to be very dangerous and consequential to
them. I am sort of indecisive about high stakes testing. I agree with high stakes testing in the sense that
it prepares students for college, enhances their test taking skills, and assesses their learning. On the
other hand, is it really worth stressing students and teachers out to the max when it is just a test? Is this
perfection that students strive so hard for leading to cheating so that they can have the better score
than the others? I believe that schools in general should focus on the achievement of students instead
of the number that they scored on a test that they took. Some schools even go as far as cutting subjects
such as history, art, music, and geography out of the curriculum because they are not important.
Another main topic in this article was teaching to the test. We discussed in lecture, Is it really teaching
to the test if you are teaching the material, and it just happens to be covered on the test? The answer
was no. I don t agree with teaching to the test. I think students should know more information than
what is just going to be on the test. There is a fine line between teaching to the test and actually
teaching the test itself. The most surprising information in this article to me was that approximately
forty percent of teachers either gave students hints, encouraged them to change their answers on the
test, allocated the students more time for the tests or simply taught

Maternal Depression in Women and Its Effect on the Family
Maternal Depression
Depression is a prevalent issue among women. Approximately 25% of women in will have a major
depressive disorder at least once in their lifetime and 15% of the female population will experience
post partum depression. (Women and Mental Illness, 2003) With these numbers, it is obvious that
maternal depression has profound effect on the Canadian family. Mother have the most influence in a
child s life, since they generally more involved in raising the children then men are. In most cases, this
influence serves to direct the child to healthy development. But when the mother is suffering from
depression, what effect does it have on the intellectual and emotional development of her child? The
child is definitively affected starting as early as infancy and through adolescence.
Depression: Symptoms and Causes
Depression may be simply defined as a state of sadness. Many may feel depressed for a short time
when things do not go their way, but when this feeling persists and interferes with daily activity a
doctor may diagnose an individual with clinical depression and order medication. Genetic
predisposition, personal problems, and seasonal hormonal changes are some of the many things that
may trigger depression. A depressed individual may encounter feelings of despair and sadness,
constant fatigue, constant headaches, among other things. If left untreated, depression may lead to
suicide. (Mood Disorders, 2003)

Essay On The Temperance Movement
The Temperance Movement was a part of a social campaign in America during the 1840 s that focused
on educating the public on the dangers of excessive drinking. This movement used both legislation
and exhortation to prohibit the manufacture, use and sale of alcohol. In 1840 Baltimore, a temperance
organization called the Washingtonians was formed made up originally6 of six former hard drinking
artisans and laborers who agreed to support one another in their efforts to remain sober. The
Washingtonian movement quickly caught on and provided a place not only for reforming drunkards
but also for non drinking working class men and women within the reform community. There were a
number of reasons people sought out the movement. Some wanted to stop drinking, plain and simple.

How The Skin Is Made Up Of Two Layers
The skin is made up of two layers: the epidermis and the dermis. The epidermis consists of
keratinocytes, melanocytes, dendritic cells, and tactile cells (Marieb Hoehn 153). The epidermis
consists of four to five layers, including stratum basale, stratum spinosum, stratum granulosum,
stratum lucidum, and stratum corneum. The deepest layer, stratum basale lies on top of the dermis and
contains mitotic cells that help repair the skin when it is damaged (Marieb Koehn 153). Stratum
spinosum is the house for Langerhan s cells, and can be characterized as the prickly layer on top of the
stratum basale (Poonawalla Diven). Stratum granulosum is where keratinization begins, and the cells
will flatten and the organelles will die (Marieb Koehn 153). The next layer is the stratum lucidum,
which is only in thick skin. The most superficial layer of the epidermis is the stratum corneum, and it
is made up 20 30 dead cell layers that help give the skin its protective function (Marieb Koehn 154).
The epidermis is avascular, meaning this layer contains no blood vessels. Each epidermal layer has its
function and they work together when repair is needed and they protects the underlying dermis
structures.
The dermis layer sits on top of the hypodermis and under the epidermis. The dermis consists of the
papillary layer and the reticular layer. The papillary layer is made up of loose connective tissue that
are vascularized, it contains sensory nerve endings and provides

The Effect Of Vitamin C On Food
Introduction: I began researching for my IA fairly soon after it was assigned, specifically by googling
IA ideas for chemistry. I stumbled upon a site that described a variety of ideas concerning food.
Naturally I have an interest in food and different food varieties, and my mother has constantly instilled
ideas of eating healthily into me. So, I wanted to combine the two ideas in the field of chemistry. As I
continued my research, I discovered some labs mentioning vitamin C concentrations in food, and that
there might be changed in concentration based on cooking method. When I saw this, I decided that
this was precisely the kind of IA that I was looking for. Before beginning additional research, I had not
given much thought to vitamin C at all when consuming foods. As I began more research, I learned
quite a bit about the importance of vitamin C consumption. As it turns out, it prevents against illnesses
such as scurvy, which was extremely prevalent amongst sailors due to the amount of time they spent
away from land and most fruits, which would spoil on a ship. This only furthered my interest in the
subject of vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, and as such, my IA became entirely about vitamin C, and the
concentrations of it based on cooking method. In order to obtain good data, I quickly researched what
fruits might have the greatest concentrations of vitamin C. I quickly came across the bell pepper,
which then varies in colour from red to green to yellow. This is where things

Irish in America Essay
Irish in America
America is a melting pot of different cultures, religions, ideas and identities, a country which over the
years has been molded, shaped and changed by its people. There are many historical factors that gone
into creating the country as we know it today, but none so influential as the immigration of millions to
the land of opportunity . The millions of people who came to the United States in hopes of finding a
better life greatly affected the course of American history, bring the the country new cultures, customs

They had no money to push West and did not have the knowledge and skill to undertake large scale
farming in the South.(6) Settling in the urban areas caused great crowding of the cities. The native
inhabitants quickly chose to move out of the neighborhoods newly settled by Irish immigrants.(7)
Their movement was influenced by the poverty of the newcomers; they did not want to live amongst
the immigrant s squalor. However, the Irish took this unwelcoming behavior in stride, they, . . . had a
sense of identity and cohesion as a people oppressed by foreigners in their native land, (8) which
helped them to stay together during the rough transition to American life. Irish Catholics lived in the
slums, often cramming 4 families into a 1 family apartment. Although the basement, attic and tar paper
urban dwellings were bleak and depressing, at least American cities provided the company of their
own misery sharing people. (9) Irish Catholics depended greatly on their community and so it was a
great relief to have support groups in their new home, even if the quality of life was extremely low.
The streets were full of garbage and raw sewage flowed through open trenches. Disease was rampant,
as were rats and mice. Concentrated almost exclusively in Irish neighborhoods, cholera swept through
Boston, along with tuberculosis and typhoid.(10) Life expectancy was 40, but many did not even live

Comparing The American Revolution and The American Civil...
As we study American history we see that the saying, History repeats itself reveals much truth. As we
look closer at the American Revolution and the American Civil War, we can find many similarities
between the two. Another saying that is made known is that We learn from our mistakes, ; but even the
greatest men and women of our history did not follow. The main causes for both wars were the fight
for liberty. If we are to analyze this issue in both wars, we see that the conclusion of one war leads to
the beginning of another. As Semisonic sings, Every new beginning comes from some other

A pamphlet authored by Thomas Paine, became a real best seller and many after reading such
literature were ready to fight for their freedom. These legislatures were derived from the King of

brought the people together in a patriotic manner. Soon, a document that would change the lives of
many was constituted for the citizens of America. The Declaration of Independence was then formed
and granted all men freedom and equality.
Freedom was finally rewarded to Americans, but how they manipulate, it was up to them. Was
freedom and equality guaranteed for all men and women? Studying history we see that it does differ
and in the Declaration it states, all men are created equal. ; This gets interpreted as all white men are
created equal. In having such frame of mind, civilians began disputing. Not for the equal rights
primarily, but for the unlawful slavery that was occurring. This time in history many laws and acts

Analysis Of Rogier Van Der Weyden s Virgin And Child
In the painting, Virgin and Child , by Rogier van der Weyden, it can be observed that the artist chose
to use the medium of oil on wood. Despite the fact that Rogier van der Weyden created this painting in
the Netherlands and was born in Tournai, Belgium, their primary influence appeared to stem from the
Italian Renaissance, which had begun to use the technique of oil paintings with increasing frequency
by turn of the 15th century. The subject of the painting itself, Madonna and her virgin child, were a
common theme in the Renaissance, where religious subjects and topics were the primary choice for
any prominent artist during this historical artistic period.

sense of piousness. During this period, artists commonly employed the technique of elongating the
limbs and physical features of certain subjects to emphasize their overall importance. As noted by
anyone familiar with the tradition of Christianity, these two figures are of great importance within the
religion. Thus, the use of elongate elongated limbs and fingers is logical in this context.
The painting, Virgin and Child with Donor , by Antoniazzo Romano, despite painting a similar scene,
possesses several differences. The most notable difference is the fact that the work of art was crafted
on an entirely different medium, which was the Tempera and gold leaf on wood , according to the
museum s description. The painting is similar to Rogier van der Weyden s work in its depiction of the
Virgin Mary with very soft, blended features. The facial expression of the Virgin Mary is also very

Wireless Sensor Networks Are Formed By Autonomous Nodes
ABSTRACT
Wireless Sensor Networks are formed by autonomous nodes containing partial memory, better range
of communication, power and capable bandwidth. WSN are used to inspect the corporal and
environmental conditions through a system and perform data processing. However, during data
acquisition different types of issues and circumstances are to be resolved.
In this study, we have discussed about the data acquisition from wireless sensor networks having some
faulty nodes. Here, we perform removal of transfaulty nodes from a defined wireless sensor network
and acquire the efficient and reliable data from the nodes. INTRODUCTION
Networking is a vast area and it is further divided into different categories. Mainly we describe a
network as wired and wireless. Wired network or Ethernet networks are the LANs (local area
networks) which are basically a connection between two or more computers defined in a managed
topology. It is the fastest network having connection speed of 10 Mbps to 100 Mbps or higher than
that. For using a wired connection, a system must have a NIC (network interface card).
WIRED NETWORK
Wireless network are implemented by high frequency radio waves instead of cables and wires.
Individuals and organizations use it for developing a better network connection. Wireless networks are
further divided into many categories but we mainly focus on wireless sensor networks.

Pulseless electrical activity (PEA) is one of the most common forms of cardiac arrest and is generally associated with poor patient outcomes. It has been widely theorized that a focused cardiac ultrasound exam (FoCUS) can play both a diagnostic and a prognostic role during PEA cardiac arrest; however, it has not been adequately studied to date. This paper explores the theory and current evidence supporting the utilization of a FoCUS exam during cardiac arrest presenting with PEA in order to recognize its potential role in resuscitative guidelines. Only within twenty four hours the fire had already expanded towards El Cajon and Spring Valley, which is thirty miles away from the original spot where the fire began. According to the article titled, Laguna fire, September 26, 1970 published on the website WildFire Today stated that The Laguna fire burned 175,425 acres, killed eight civilians, and destroyed 382 homes. The Laguna Fire was said to be the biggest fire during that particular time. Because of its negative impact on the communities of Harbison Canyon and Crest it resulted in the construction of The Modular Airborne Firefighting System. This system allows for firefighters to use aircrafts to contain and stop wildfires at great lengths and one hundred percent effectiveness. The Laguna Fire resulted in impactful changes to fire suppression and fire ground tactics. In addition, the design of the five tanks allowed for quick and effective transitions. Due to its short loading time it allows for faster preparation for when a wildfire may occur. Which is a key factor when dealing with wildfires. Furthermore, The Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System was updated to better help the firefighters when transporting the tanks. The newly developed system which is Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System II redesigned the tanks. Instead of five huge tanks they changed it and made one ginormous tank. Referring back to the article titled, MAFFS II Making an Impact it mentions, The MAFFS II systems allow the MAFFS aircraft to be loaded at the same bases as the larger civilian air tankers due to the built in compressors used to pressurize their load of fire retardant to be forced out of the aircraft. this is another reason why the new Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System II is extremely effective and widely used. The Firefighter s do not have to stop at certain bases to have the tanks pressurized, because with the new development with the two compressors inside the aircrafts they can just pressurize the tanks there, and the 24 hour resource allows for better access to these military aircrafts to be used. Because they are a twenty four hour resource it means that they have twenty four hours to arrive on the scene of the fire. Furthermore, the process of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They do this because of nationalism, a very extreme form of belief and loyalty towards ones country. This lead to many people believing their country was perfect; unequaled in economic, military, and political power. Nationalism was very popular in the late 18th and 19th centuries; countries were promoting nationalism in order to keep their citizens loyal. It played an important role in generating conflict and revolutions during the World Wars and the Interwar years. It was soon said by Adolf Hitler, the restoration of the frontiers of 1914 could be achieved only by blood ; showing that he knew that he must wage war if he wanted to regain the lost land (Hitler, Mein Kampf). Once he came to power, Hitler was able to rally the people using the idea of Lebensraum, or living space for the German people. The people were excited for Hitler because they truly believed he would be the one to restore their losses. People soon began to follow him more willingly, joining his Nazi party and increasing it substantially. He then invaded Poland, the first step in his plan to conquer all of Germany s former lands. Japan waged war against China for the same reason. More land was needed for the growing population, and the resources in Manchuria were needed as well. Japan staged the Mukden incident to legitimize their reason for invasion, and this depicts the effect that nationalism had on Japan s leader. They went as far as to stage an explosion on their own train tracks to give them a reason for invading another country. These two ideas, the Mukden incident and Lebensraum, show that nationalism led to the leaders of Japan and Germany to go to the extreme in order to make their country a better place for themselves and for the people living ... Pros And Cons Of Violence In Video Games Ever since the nineteen eighties people, usually politicians and the news media, have been quick to blame video games for societal woes, saying violence in video games causes violent behavior and makes people anti social. Some have even argued video games cause racism, sexism, and cause health problems, but most research that points towards video games being bad are inconsistent and sometimes contradictory. And yet people still want to restrict and censor video games, even though they are an art form just like film or paintings or what have you, and because they are an art form they are a form of media and are protected under the first amendment. Violent video games do not cause real world violence like any art form they only mirror the violence of the real world, and it is contradictory to think that they cause actual violence. Firstly, picking up Ducati as its target company is quite opportunistic. From the traditional investment style s point of view, TPG is interested in those companies that had grown rapidly but still had the corporate structures of very small companies which caused great stress to the management of the business, and the assets of their target companies always being considered to be divided in order to improve the business riping for LBO. For an example when Holden, the main character, is arguing with his roommate Stradlater you could tell that they were going to get physical with each other. Holden has a lot of conflicts that an everyday person would not encounter. I have never seen any 16 year old have to deal with the problems he has had. He is at the weird age where he is becoming an adult but yet he is still a child. Being 16 is a very awkward stage, most of the time people are very indecisive just like Holden. • 13. Mexico s Current Political System Mexico s official name is the United Mexican states. Mexico s current political system derives from the Constitution of 1917, which arose from the Mexican Revolution. The Constitution captures the ideals of the Revolution and reflects three centuries of Spanish colonial rule. The Constitution protects the rights of workers, peasants, and organizations. It guarantees the right to have an eight hour workday, rights for women and children workers, and rights for minimum wage being sufficient enough to satisfy the necessities of life. In order to make a change to the constitution requires there needs to be the approval of both houses of the federal legislature and the approval of at least 17 of the 32 state legislatures. (Geo Mexico) Mexico s political system is a federal republic based on presidential democracy. The government has three branches: executive, legislative, and judicial. The executive branch is the most important. The president serves a six year term and cannot be re elected. The president appoints the 18 cabinet secretaries who run their ministries and they rarely ever meet. Only the president is has the power to veto bills and enforce/execute laws. Mexico does not have a vice president, the constitution provides a process by which, in the case that the president becomes vacant before the election, the Congress chooses a temporary president and then holds a new election. Phar Mor Inc established in 1982 Phar Mor was a small little known discount drugstore. Phar Mor became well known for offering medications at a 25 40% discount rate compared to your normal pharmacy store prices. Phar Mor s first six years of existence seemingly were fraud free and saw the company grow at a decent pace for their field. By 1987 Phar Mor almost had 100 stores and was expanding even more rapidly at this point. The first hint of fraud came up and was discovered being a billing type scheme ... Could SOX have prevented the Phar Mor fraud? How? Which specific sections of SOX? The answer is debatable because of the extent that Phar Mor went to cover up the fraud it may have taken several years still to uncover it however, in the long run I do believe SOX would have prevented the fraud from lasting almost a full decade without being detected, and would not have been uncovered had it not been for a whistle blower. I think the most important sections of SOX that would have helped uncover the fraud at Phar Mor are as follows Section 203 Which deals with the auditors and any possible conflict of interest if they had worked with Phar Mor in the last calendar year they would have not been able to be the same auditors doing final audits of the company. Section 206 Which states that any auditor who had previously worked for the firm and now works for Phar Mor would cause the firm to not be able to have Phar Mor as a client. Phar Mor had 3 former employees of the audit firm who worked for them which allowed them the knowledge to know that the

One of the main points discussed is how the pressure is steadily rising among students to have the best scores as they possibly can on the tests. With an incline in technological advances, students have more accessibility to sources that can be very beneficial to them at the time. However, it can also lead to be very dangerous and consequential to them. I am sort of indecisive about high stakes testing. I agree with high stakes testing in the sense that it prepares students for college, enhances their test taking skills, and assesses their learning. On the other hand, is it really worth stressing students and teachers out to the max when it is just a test? Is this perfection that students strive so hard for leading to cheating so that they can have the better score than the others? I believe that schools in general should focus on the achievement of students instead of the number that they scored on a test that they took. Some schools even go as far as cutting subjects such as history, art, music, and geography out of the curriculum because they are not important. Another main topic in this article was teaching to the test. We discussed in lecture, Is it really teaching to the test if you are teaching the material, and it just happens to be covered on the test? The answer was no. I don t agree with teaching to the test. The Washingtonian movement quickly caught on and provided a place not only for reforming drunkards but also for non drinking working class men and women within the reform community. There were a number of reasons people sought out the movement. Some wanted to stop drinking, plain and simple. While many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bur Poe, bein Poe, could never write a straight up experience narrative. Indeed, Poe s story, The Black Cat is a dark, powerful narrative of marital life that goes wrong and to readers of the time this story parodies the traditional temperance story. The story is of the writer s spiral into the abyss of drunkard ness where he tells a tale of animal abuse as well as the physical abuse of his wife. He uses the excuse of excessive drinking as the reason for his actions for all the bad things that happen in this story. Poe writes, I grew, day by day, more moody, more irritable, more regardless of the feelings of other and ...through the instrumentality of the Fiend Intemperance, [I] had (I blush to confess it) experienced a radical alteration for the worse. 1 At the end, the writer is not ... The whole infrared spectrum was analyzed at a scan range of 4000 400 cm 1. Thirty scans were taken with 4 cm 1 resolution. CO2 and H2O corrections were incorporated. Reproducibility of the normalized spectra was ±2%. (Shanthi et al., 2014). 3.16. Testing isolates probiotic properties 3.16.1. Blood hemolysis Hemolysis test was performed according to the method described by Guttmann and Ellar (2000). Overnight cultures of isolated Enterococcus durans and Enterococcus hirae were streaked on blood agar and incubated at 37°C for 24 h. Blood agar plates were examined for signs of hemolysis. Blood hemolysis test was performed in duplicates. 3.16.2. Resistance to low pH Isolates Enterococcus durans and Enterococcus hirae were tested for their ability to resist low pH values as follow, 25 ml of sterile MRS broth adjusted to pH 6.4, 4, 3 and 2 was inoculated using 1% (v/v) of an overnight culture, then incubated at 37ºC for 6 h. The absorbance at 620 nm was monitored using spectrophotometer (Unico, USA) at hourly intervals (Nawaz et al., 2011). 3.16.3. Bile salts tolerance The selected isolates were examined for their ability to grow in presence of different concentrations of bile salts. The two concentrations 0.1% and 0.3% (w/v) were used for this purpose. An aliquots of 20 ml sterile MRS broth supplemented with 0, 0.1% and 0.3% bile salts were inoculated with ... • 35. How The Skin Is Made Up Of Two Layers The skin is made up of two layers: the epidermis and the dermis. The epidermis consists of keratinocytes, melanocytes, dendritic cells, and tactile cells (Marieb Hoehn 153). The epidermis consists of four to five layers, including stratum basale, stratum spinosum, stratum granulosum, stratum lucidum, and stratum corneum. The deepest layer, stratum basale lies on top of the dermis and contains mitotic cells that help repair the skin when it is damaged (Marieb Koehn 153). Stratum spinosum is the house for Langerhan s cells, and can be characterized as the prickly layer on top of the stratum basale (Poonawalla Diven). Stratum granulosum is where keratinization begins, and the cells will flatten and the organelles will die (Marieb Koehn 153). The next layer is the stratum lucidum, which is only in thick skin. The most superficial layer of the epidermis is the stratum corneum, and it is made up 20 30 dead cell layers that help give the skin its protective function (Marieb Koehn 154). The epidermis is avascular, meaning this layer contains no blood vessels. Each epidermal layer has its function and they work together when repair is needed and they protects the underlying dermis structures. The dermis layer sits on top of the hypodermis and under the epidermis. The dermis consists of the papillary layer and the reticular layer. The papillary layer is made up of loose connective tissue that are vascularized, it contains sensory nerve endings and provides ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. The Effect Of Vitamin C On Food Introduction: I began researching for my IA fairly soon after it was assigned, specifically by googling IA ideas for chemistry. I stumbled upon a site that described a variety of ideas concerning food. Naturally I have an interest in food and different food varieties, and my mother has constantly instilled ideas of eating healthily into me. So, I wanted to combine the two ideas in the field of chemistry. As I continued my research, I discovered some labs mentioning vitamin C concentrations in food, and that there might be changed in concentration based on cooking method. When I saw this, I decided that this was precisely the kind of IA that I was looking for. Before beginning additional research, I had not given much thought to vitamin C at all when consuming foods. As I began more research, I learned quite a bit about the importance of vitamin C consumption. As it turns out, it prevents against illnesses such as scurvy, which was extremely prevalent amongst sailors due to the amount of time they spent away from land and most fruits, which would spoil on a ship. This only furthered my interest in the subject of vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, and as such, my IA became entirely about vitamin C, and the concentrations of it based on cooking method. In order to obtain good data, I quickly researched what fruits might have the greatest concentrations of vitamin C. I quickly came across the bell pepper, which then varies in colour from red to green to yellow. This is where things ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the Irish took this unwelcoming behavior in stride, they, . . . had a sense of identity and cohesion as a people oppressed by foreigners in their native land, (8) which helped them to stay together during the rough transition to American life. As we look closer at the American Revolution and the American Civil War, we can find many similarities between the two. Another saying that is made known is that We learn from our mistakes, ; but even the greatest men and women of our history did not follow. The main causes for both wars were the fight for liberty. If we are to analyze this issue in both wars, we see that the conclusion of one war leads to the beginning of another. Soon, a document that would change the lives of many was constituted for the citizens of America. The Declaration of Independence was then formed and granted all men freedom and equality. Freedom was finally rewarded to Americans, but how they manipulate, it was up to them. Was freedom and equality guaranteed for all men and women? Studying history we see that it does differ and in the Declaration it states, all men are created equal. ; This gets interpreted as all white men are created equal. In having such frame of mind, civilians began disputing. Not for the equal rights primarily, but for the unlawful slavery that was occurring. This time in history many laws and acts were distributed but often ignored such as the Fugitive Slave Acts 1850 and the Wilmont Proviso of 1846. • 40. Analysis Of Rogier Van Der Weyden s Virgin And Child In the painting, Virgin and Child , by Rogier van der Weyden, it can be observed that the artist chose to use the medium of oil on wood. Despite the fact that Rogier van der Weyden created this painting in the Netherlands and was born in Tournai, Belgium, their primary influence appeared to stem from the Italian Renaissance, which had begun to use the technique of oil paintings with increasing frequency by turn of the 15th century. The subject of the painting itself, Madonna and her virgin child, were a common theme in the Renaissance, where religious subjects and topics were the primary choice for any prominent artist during this historical artistic period. It also worth noting that the fingers of the Virgin Mary were longer in length than that of the average woman as well. This bolsters evidence to the theory that the elongated arm of the child in the photo was created in a purposeful manner. As noted in the previous paragraph, the elongated arm not only conveys a sense of maturity, strength, and age that is unbecoming of a child this age, it also yields a sense of piousness. During this period, artists commonly employed the technique of elongating the limbs and physical features of certain subjects to emphasize their overall importance. As noted by anyone familiar with the tradition of Christianity, these two figures are of great importance within the religion. Thus, the use of elongate elongated limbs and fingers is logical in this context. The painting, Virgin and Child with Donor , by Antoniazzo Romano, despite painting a similar scene, possesses several differences. The most notable difference is the fact that the work of art was crafted on an entirely different medium, which was the Tempera and gold leaf on wood , according to the museum s description. The painting is similar to Rogier van der Weyden s work in its depiction of the Virgin Mary with very soft, blended features. The facial expression of the Virgin Mary is also very like that of Rogier van der Weyden s painting as well, conveying a sense of peace and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Wireless Sensor Networks Are Formed By Autonomous Nodes ABSTRACT Wireless Sensor Networks are formed by autonomous nodes containing partial memory, better range of communication, power and capable bandwidth. WSN are used to inspect the corporal and environmental conditions through a system and perform data processing. However, during data acquisition different types of issues and circumstances are to be resolved. In this study, we have discussed about the data acquisition from wireless sensor networks having some faulty nodes. Here, we perform removal of transfaulty nodes from a defined wireless sensor network and acquire the efficient and reliable data from the nodes. INTRODUCTION Networking is a vast area and it is further divided into different categories. Mainly we describe a network as wired and wireless. Wired network or Ethernet networks are the LANs (local area networks) which are basically a connection between two or more computers defined in a managed topology. It is the fastest network having connection speed of 10 Mbps to 100 Mbps or higher than that. For using a wired connection, a system must have a NIC (network interface card). WIRED NETWORK Wireless network are implemented by high frequency radio waves instead of cables and wires. Individuals and organizations use it for developing a better network connection. Wireless networks are further divided into many categories but we mainly focus on wireless sensor networks. WIRELESS NETWORK WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORK A particular wireless sensor network ...
