Apologia In Sports Research Paper
II.Sports and Apologia Commentary Apologia In Sports Commentary #1 Apologia is an
incredibly important field in the media, let alone in sports. A recurring theme in the recent
sports culture is the mistakes of popular athletes. Sports culture has become a huge aspect of our
society. As more time passes, sports become more influential in our communities. It has come to
the point where everyone tunes in or hears about the mishaps of our athletic role model and their
public apologies. It seems like every week there is another tragedy in sports, in the sense that
another star athlete has potentially ruined his career. Every month there are athletes pissing
their opportunities away. And people are always drooling to see what they have to say about it,
if they are sorry or that they denial. Although it is getting more popular now, forms of apologia
have been involved in sports ever since sports became popular. The earliest major form of athletic
apologia was the Black Sox scandal. The Black Sox Scandal has become huge deal in Baseball and
all of the major sports. Allegedly, the World Series of 1919 were fixed by the players of the
Chicago White Sox. This was a huge insult to all of those involved in the... Show more content on

The motif is sleep/dreams which relates to the characterization and mood that the audience feels as

characterization and mood that is overwhelming to the audience. When Lady Macbeth speaks to
Macbeth and says I laid their daggers ready: he could not miss em.... My fathers as he slept, I had

Using A Tool Of Stem Innovation
While working outside with my father building a tuff shed in the backyard, we needed to use a
tool of STEM innovation. Can you guess what that innovation could be? It was the wheel
barrow, now I know what you are saying, The wheelbarrow isn t a lever! Actually the wheel
barrow is an innovation of the lever because it has the components of a fulcrum, load, and effort
force which is exerted. The wheelbarrow falls under first class lever because the fulcrum placed
between the load and effort to give it equal balance according www.ohio.edu. The lever is one of
the simplest mechanical devices ever and has made life so much easier in society.

Yet, though Ancient Egypt has many wonders to offer, let s decide to focus the journey on tools

resources that were provided have been the custom way of life during before Christ and last for
thousands of years. Yet, today in our society we still use what the Egyptians invented, but we have
used their inventions as a foundation for advancement in tools. The Egyptians used their tools to
make life easier, especially in construction, such as building the pyramids, temples, limestone

represents STEM because these tools is considered a form of technology, in a way that it was

As Choi and Meek exemplify, transfers between related business units represent 60 percent of all
international trades (Choi amp; Meek, p. 448). Thus, one can start to understand how important it
is to define accurate transfer prices. As mentioned, the globalization of markets and the rapid
development of communication systems have increased the presence of trades between companies
under common control. However, other factors have also helped highlight the subject. Factors like
the increase of service provided within MNE s, the continuous trading activity and the use of
financial instruments have increased the amount of trade between associated parties. Political
forces have also assisted in the development of transfer pricing regulations, especially now during
this economic crisis as governments try to increase their income through tax collection. For
example, a parent company could pay less income tax in the US by determining a higher transfer
price from the product it purchases from its subsidiary located in China. Since China s corporate
income tax is 25% and the US tax rate is 35%, this arrangement would generate a higher income at
the subsidiary in China and less overall income tax payment for the financial group in question.
Nevertheless, such arrangements can be prevented by tax authorities in the US, since according to
Section 482 of the Internal Revenue Code the Secretary may distribute, apportion, or allocate gross
income, deductions, credits, or

Early Church Writings
I found the early Church writings interesting, because it gave me a clearer understanding of the
lattice weaving between the scriptures, catechetical manuals, witness statements, and liturgical
guides working together supporting each other within the Catholic Church. After the fall of
Jerusalem 70AD, the Holy Spiritwas obviously present for the Jewish rabbis to meet and agree on
what Old Testament books would be considered Sacred Scripture: The Law, or Torah is the first
five books of the Bible, the historical books, the Prophets, and the Writings. Because by the second
century the Church found itself being challenged by Marcion own interpretation of Godgoes against
the dogma of the Church therefore, twenty seven New Testament biblical books... Show more

Origen also taught three ways of interpreting Scripture; the literal (referring to the intention of the
author), the moral (our bodies are temples for the Holy Spirit, we should not desecrate our temple
with bad habits) and the allegorical, (eternal significance, the Church is leading us to Heaven).
1777 years later the Vatican II gave three very similar guidelines for interpreting the Bible: 1.
attention to the content and unity of the whole Scripture 2. adherence to the Church s Tradition 3.
mindfulness of the analogy of Faith. The analogy of Faith means the harmony or coherence of the
truths of Faith relative to one another and within the whole plan of Revelation. (CCC 112 114)
Presently the modern Church does offer a bible that has good footnotes, pictures, maps, and clear
explanation of scripture, more importantly to combat heresy; we must read the bible with a sense of
Tradition, from what the original author means to say, not what I think the reading means. Sadly,
our Protestant siblings have turned away from these sacred

Effects Of Ww1 On Canada
The war united many Canadians in a common cause even though the war widened some divisions
and took a great toll on Canada. Few had expected the long struggle or heavy death toll. Even
though the war was one it came at a cost; compulsory military service, broken promises to farmers
and organized labour, high inflation, deep social divisions, and the suspension of many civil
liberties. Some women had received the right to vote, but other Canadians recent immigrants
associated with enemy countries had seen this right rescinded. Directly after the war Canadawas hit

Politically, the war was also used for political supremacy. Borden s efforts to win the 1917
election and carry the nation to victory succeeded in the short term, but fractured the country
along regional, cultural, linguistic, and class lines. English and French relations were never
lower, and accusations of French traitors and English militarists became a huge social issue. The
Conscription act would tear apart the already existing social divides in Canada. Firstly the French
British divide became more profound during and after the war. The British where more inclined to
join and agree with the conscription act as they had more family and ties to the lands where WW1
was waged. The French on the other hand usually married younger and had families making them
more reluctant to join the war effort. Furthermore the French Canadians did not believe in the war
effort as they where underrepresented in Canada and where therefore less inclined to fight for a
Government that does not fighter for them. The war did not only cause social divisions in Canada

The purpose of this lab is to use genetic engineering to transform E. coli bacteria by inserting the
plasmid pGLO, and to then see if the bacteria was transformed by using the antibiotic, ampicillin.
Background Information:
Genetic transformation is the change caused by genes. This transformation includes the insertion of
a gene into an organism, changing one of the organism s traits. There are many other uses for
genetic transformation including the altering of plant genes coding for frostbite, pests and spoilage
resistance. It can also be used to digest oil spills and even alter in gene therapy to transform sick
cells into healthy ones. This particular experiment will include the transformation of the bacteria
with the GFP ( Green ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the bacterial cells do accept the plasmid then the cell will have antibiotic resistance to the
antibodies, and the bacteria will survive.
Pre Lab Questions:
The two most important sequences on the plasmid that will be used are the ORI bacteria and the
antibiotic resistance. The ORI is the origin of the bacteria and is an important part of the
bacteria because it does the job of replication. The antibiotic resistance is equally important
because it is used to see which bacteria take in the plasmid. In the lab there will be two micro
test tubes used. One tube will be labeled +plasmid and the second tube will be labeled plasmid.
Both test tubes will contain the E. coli bacteria and 0.25mL of calcium chloride (CaCl2), but
only the +plasmid tube will receive 10pL of pGLO plasmid. There will also be four agar dishes
used in this experiment. They will be labeled as follows: LB/Amp+, LB/Amp , LB+, and LB .
The LB/Amp+ dish will have luria broth, ampicillin, and the pGLO plasmid. The LB/Amp dish
will contain luria broth, ampicillin, and will not contain any plasmid. LB+ also contains luria
broth, will not contain ampicillin and will contain the plasmid. The last dish, LB , will have the
luria broth, and will not have neither ampicillin nor the plasmid inserted. The LB/Amp and LB
dishes act as the control group because they will be used to observe changes that occur without the
plasmid. The LB/Amp+ and LB+ will act as the experimental dishes because the plasmid will

Abolish Exclusionary Rule
I am arguing in favor to abolish the exclusionary rule, as opposed to the alternative, which is to
continue to believe that the exclusionary rule is part of people s Constitutional right to protect
against illegally obtained evidence in a criminal trial that allows criminals to go free. For those
who are not familiar with the exclusionary rule, the exclusionary is a very debatable topic in the
United Statesand Supreme Courts. The supposed purpose of the exclusionary rule is under the
constitutional law that evidence illegally obtained will be inadmissible in criminal trials. Most
people argue that the abolishment of the exclusionary rule allows citizens to be deprived of life,

Analysis Of The Chicago Tribune And William Randolph...
This pair seized upon the headlines generated from a case involving a woman named Mona
Marshall, who alleged that she had been drugged, raped, and forced into prostitution by a pimp.
There were elements of her story that were genuinely factual and terribly disturbing, but other
parts seemed far fetched. That included a tale in which the police reportedly received a note that
she dropped from the window of the brothel where she worked stating, I am a white slave. In
addition, Marshall s recounting of events included several contradictions with dates and key
details. Nonetheless, The Chicago Tribune and William Randolph Hearst s Chicago American
ran wild with the Mona Marshall story and it quickly gained a national audience. Clifford Roe
gained recognition nationwide as the prosecutor of that case and he leveraged his newfound
fame into more of an activist role. He subsequently published Panders and Their White Slaves
and The Girl Who Disappeared, which was later fact checked by a notable sociologist Walter
Reckless. He found that Roe used heavily altered statements from prostitutes to advance his
agenda. In addition, Reckless studied Chicago s white slave court cases extensively and found
that less than 5% of them actually involved women held against their will. In fairness, although
Roe s methods were deceptive, one positive result manifested from his work as he successfully
lobbied to get much needed sex trafficking laws passed in Illinois. Over a short period of

Amphetamines Essay
Amphetamines were first introduced in 1932 and were originally sold as drugs for nasal
congestion that came in the form of an inhalant or tablet (Abadinsky, 2014). These types of drugs
were the go to for just about any health issue (Abadinsky, 2014). In the 1930s and 1940s,
amphetamines were used medically as treatment for schizophrenia, morphine addiction, low blood
pressure, and caffeine and tobacco dependence (Abadinsky, 2014, p. 216). Toward the end of the
1940s, the drugs were eventually used as stimulants, also known as analeptics (Abadinsky, 2014).
Back then, amphetamines were available without a prescription, therefore anyone could purchase
the drugs without a doctor s permission, and that is how the popularity of the drugs began across

made sure the drug was available to the soldiers (Abadinsky, 2014). At one point in time during the
battle with Korea, increased use occurred when United States soldiers were over seas in Korea and
Japan, where they combined their amphetamines with heroin making speedballs as a form of
treatment during war (Abadinsky, 2014, p. 217). Question 2: Discuss how money laundering is
connected to drug trafficking.
Answer: Money laundering is connected to drug trafficking because the individuals who are
handling the drugs do not want to get caught, therefore attempt to move their funds into an actual
business to seem legitimate (Abadinsky, 2014). Since the money drug traffickers generate through
sales is technically illegal money, they turn to money laundering to protect the revenue (Abadinsky,
2014). Money is laundered through currency exchange houses, stock brokerage houses, gold
dealers, casinos, automobile dealerships, insurance companies, and trading companies and much
more (Abadinsky, 2014, p. 252). When money from drug trafficking is placed in

The Sinaloa Cartel is considered the largest and wealthiest organized crime syndicate in the
Western Hemisphere. Run by drug kingpin Joaquin El Chapo Guzman, the Sinaloa Cartel is the
biggest player in the Mexican drug trafficking trade. Mexican drug trafficking is estimated by
analysts to be worth $13 billion US a year, according to the Canadian Broadcasting Company
(CBC, 2015, par. 2). Heavily involved in the production and distribution of marijuana, cocaine
and opium, the Sinaloa Cartel is also operates prostitution rings and deals in human trafficking.
According to CBC, analysts estimate that since 2006, 70,000 people have been killed in drug
related violence. The Sinaloa Cartel is the United States Government s biggest obstacle in the
international war on drugs and its diabolical leader is once again free. In order to understand the
magnitude of the Sinaloa Cartel, it must be compared with other cartels from the past. In the
1970s and 80s, the marijuana and cocaine trades were dominated by the Columbians, most
notably, the Medellin Cartel. Making its prominent rise under the direction of drug queen pin

legendary drug trafficker Pablo Escobar. A Columbian, Blanco made her name on the streets of

Analysis of Goodwill Impairments and
Their Effects on Financial Statements
The impairment only accounting model for goodwill was initially brought to the table in 2004, to
replace the previous amortization based model. Over the years, research supported the idea that
impairment charges improved the fundamental economic attributes of goodwill than systematic
amortization charges. Research also revealed that such annual changes had minor information value
to users. According to KPMG (2014), this was the key reason why the US Financial Accounting
Standards Board (FASB) replaced straight line amortization of goodwill with this model that was
based exclusively on impairment testing (p. 4). The FASB argued that this approach provides...

After the value is determined, if the goodwill s fair value is less than the carrying value, the
goodwill is considered impaired and must be charged off. Essentially, the charge off reduces the
value of goodwill to market value, reflecting a mark to market charge.
Essentially, goodwill is the value of an asset that is considered intangible but has a quantifiable
prudent value in a business (Boundless, 2014). An example of goodwill could be the reputation a
firm has with its client. It is important to remember that although goodwill is technically an
intangible asset, it typically is listed separately on a business balance sheet.
Goodwill impairments under SFAS 142, has been the subject of many controversies. Opponents
worry that specific aspects of the standard are complicated and require judgment (Boundless,
2014). Therefore, a goodwill impairment charge has the ability to increase the uncertainty of the
analysts forecasting. Goodwill is recorded at the time of a business combination by an acquiring
entity, and is defined as the excess of the consideration transferred plus te fair value of any non
controlling interest in the acquire at the acquisition date over the fair values of the identifiable net
assets acquired (FASB, 2007). Prior to the SFAS 141 and SFAS 142, APB Opinion No.17 regulated

Micro marketing
Refers to the internal controllable factors or forces which affects the ability of a company to serve

nature, however the company has an element of control over how it operates within this

c)Social cultural environment
The social cultural forces influence the organization in the long run. Society keeps on changing
now and then. New demands are emerging and old ones lost, this adversely affects the marketing
plans of a business enterprise. There are three aspects of social environment namely:
i.Change in life styles and social values. e.g. changing role of women, emphasis on quality of the
goods instead of quantity. ii. Major social problems. E.g. concern on pollution of our environment,
social responsible marketing, concern of safety in occupation and in products etc. iii. Growing
consumerlisation. This is concern with the customer satisfaction. The marketers are now called
upon not only to deliver goods of high standards but also assure quality of life of its customers and
all citizens.
d)Political and legal forces
The government activities and legal forces affect the marketing activities of an enterprise because a
change in law relate to production a certain product forces an enterprise to comply in order to carry
out its activities. This means the organizational has to make some adjustment to its marketing
which may cause delay of the products to its consumers. eg Anti pollution laws influence marketing

Hinduism is a religion that originated in India and is still practiced by most of the Natives as well

religion. A man named Chaitanya came into power and claimed to have a god reincarnated inside
of him. In the

ideas of the day took place. Many people where sent out to Europe and Asia preaching and

with the times and as it did it just kept gathering more and more followers.
Hinduism Today Today there are numerous self proclaimed teachers who have migrated to Europe

Advantages Of Top Up Budgeting
QUESTION 1 In developing an annual budget accompanies may choose to adopt either top
down budgeting approach or bottom up budgeting approach. In the finance ministry bottom
down budgeting was a traditional way used in budget formulation. Top down budgeting came in
the 1990s as a motivation to curb the fiscal deficits in which it lead to fiscal crisis in other
countries. Top down budgeting was found that it helps and manages well the fiscal deficit
efficiently unlike bottom up budgeting approach. Countries like Denmark, Korea Sweden,
Australia, Netherlands, and Chile etc actively use top down budgeting because it helps in
getting information for the evaluation of new initiatives and also in reviewing of programs for
monitoring purposes. Sweden adopted top down budgeting approach because of the series of
huge fiscal deficits it used to incur and it came to be that top down budgeting saved them. Top
down budgeting is advantageous since it is done multiyear unlike bottom down budgeting which
is annually. Top down Budgeting saves on time since it has delegated authority to take care of
the budgeting process unlike Bottom down approach which is time consuming. Bottom up
approach ignores economic forecast since it involves ministry by ministry analysis unlike top
down approach which focuses on economic forecast as it is bases more in fiscal analysis. In top
down budgeting there is ownership of proposal whereby the ownership is joint unlike bottom up
approach where the ownership proposal is specific. We are able to see that top down budgeting is
more advantageous to use in budgeting approach. Countries like Netherlands, Chile and Canada

Poe also uses deep, dark adjectives to give the reader a chance to imagine what the setting looks
like this is through the use of imagery. Poe uses imagery most when describing the old man s
eye, I think it was his eye! yes, it was this! He had the eye of a vulture a pale blue eye, with a
film over it, (691). When Poe describes the eye as the eye of a vulture the reader thinks of death,
darkness, and spookiness. A form of dark romanticism that Poe relates to imagery is man s soul.
Poe s narrator makes his hatred for the old man s eye evident in the diction he chooses to use when
describing the eye and the time creeping into the old man s chamber. As the narrator begins to kill
the old man, both the narrator and old man feel a sense of anxiety and nervousness. The narrator
becomes unsettled and anxious because he kept hearing the old man s beating heart; the beating
grew louder, louder! I thought the heart must

Critically Analyzing the Main Issues in the Case Study Using Relevant Theories Related to
Organization and Management This case study deals with the Oticon s organizational change, a
Danish firm specialised in hearing aids. Due to an instable environment, the firm has transformed
the organisation of the structure in order to be competitive in an international market and
consequently it has changed the work, the hierarchy, the organisational culture and patterns. The
case study shows us with the real example of Oticon how that change can affect the organisational
behaviour of the employees and how Lars Kolind manage them in order to stimulate their
motivation and increase the productivity. According... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The change process was quite long and has totally affected the organizational behaviour of the
employees. Lewin states that the change allows three separate activities: Unfreezing, change or
movement, and refreezing (Hatch 1997 p.353/354). In Oticon, unfreezing did occur with the
meetings and negotiation with the employees in order to reduce the resistance because the
change was not without some resistance of the employees. Unfreezing activity took three years
because Oticon took its time to prepare the employees to the transformation in adopting a
planned change. Then occurred the change or move stage, introducing a new way of work like
the use of a personal computer at work and at home, a new organisational culture turn down the
wall to create a big open plan office , with a different style of management requiring the
participation of the employees. Finally, refreezing occurs when the new patterns stabilize or
become institutionalised like the implement of a reward system in Oticon with the possibility to
obtain scarces resources if someone is successful in the promotion of projects. An organisation can
be viewed as a culture in its own right, as a set of subcultures, or as an artifact through which an
even larger culture expresses itself (Hatch 1997, p.235). We can say that Oticon has successfully

Native American Culture In The 18th And 19th Century
In the United States, there are over 500 federally recognized American and Native tribes. All which
study and practice their own set of cultures and values. Religion, language, food and way of dress
are what makes every tribe different in their own unique way. The Indian Wars of both the 18th and
19th century caused many of these tribes to relocate thus causing them to not only lose their
homelands but also their cultural identity. Native Americans were prohibited from practicing
religion and cultural ceremonies. This caused a recession in youth obtaining the knowledge to keep
their cultural renaissance alive and pass on their tribal dialects to future generations. Today,
however Native Americans are thriving at branding their youth with generation after generation of
language, religion, ceremonial tradition etc. The Native American culture... Show more content on

The Fall Of The House Of Usher And Other Tales
Many authors try to focus on one thing in their works, and some do succeed. However, others try
to bring out multiple faces of life through their creativity and styles of writing. In the Romantic
period of American literature, several ink slingers bring out specific motifs in their works. Edgar
Allen Poe in his collection, The Fall of the House of Usher and Other Tales , writes in a form that
betrays the Romantic style with his use of symbolism and his focus on the individual in his short
stories.
A major idea in Poe s tales is symbolism. He displays his penchant for this in his story The Cask of
Amontillado with his character named Fortunado. In this story, Fortunado is a man who has
somehow wronged the narrator. The narrator leads Fortunado

Calcium Homeostasis Essay
Calcium Homeostasis
Kayla Smith
Anatomy and Physiology I
BSC 1085C Ref# 82458
Calcium plays a very significant role in our bodies. Approximately 99 percent of the calcium in our
bodies is stored in the teeth and bones. Calcium generates about two percent of our total body
weight. Calcium is crucial in bone formation, keeping strong bones and teeth and is known for
helping to prevent osteoporosis. Although calcium is mostly thought about in the bones and teeth,
it also plays important roles throughout the body. The amount of calcium outside the bones and
teeth may be small in comparison to what is inside the bones and teeth, but is very useful in many
functions in the body. Calcium is required in functions such as the contraction ... Show more content

Calcitriol moves to the nucleus of these cells and boost the role of proteins that carry calcium from
inside the small intestine to the blood. Calcitonin does the opposite of the parathyroid hormone and
vitamin D. While the parathyroid gland and vitamin D raise the calcium levels, calcitonin
decreases it. Calcitonin is a hormone secreted by the C cell of the thyroid gland that lowers
blood calcium levels by inhibiting bone resorption. (Lingohr Smith, 2011). Having high and low
levels of calcium in the body affects the body differently. Hypercalcemia is the medical term for
high blood calcium. Having too much calcium in the body can lead to an increased risk of
kidney stones, constipation, nausea, and high blood pressure. People with hypercalcemia may
also have stomach, muscle and joint pain. Very severe hypercalcemia can cause symptoms of
brain dysfunction such as confusion, emotional disturbances, delirium, hallucinations, and coma.
Irregularly low calcium levels in the blood are known as hypocalcaemia. Your bones and teeth
will begin to deteriorate because your body takes the calcium that is stored in your bones to
carry out the functions that are dependent on calcium. Hypocalcaemia can cause fragile bones,
brittle nails and can cause frequent muscle cramps. It can also cause joint pain, and put you at risk
for bone disease as you age. Low calcium levels can put you at higher risks for high blood pressure
or hypertension as well as poor

The Dangers Of The Foster Care System
Why was I chosen to be alive in a disastrous time where the foster care system has become more
hazardous than ever? The foster care system is dangerous and a risk no child should have to take
regardless of the shields and precautions the system has put up to protect children, I thought and
wondered to myself in the innocent silence of Kayne s snores. It is amazing how the vibrating
sounds much like a bull dozer on its last leg was the only thing that clarified I was safe. At times I
d fault the crappy foster caresystem; however, the system was set up to give minors a home with
folks who were certified caregivers. So, did they essentially intend any harm, I asked myself as I
looked at my phone that read 9:05 P.M. I was full of fear, a fault that I blame on the sick people of
this world who enjoy making the lives of kids thousands of degrees hotter than hell. A pain as
sharp as a needle, though as piercing as a sphere. My mind had begun to clutter like a prison,
very ironic being that s what living here felt like. I heard the sounds *Click Click, Click Clack*
flying through the hall as I sat on my bed in a room so full of expensive items and clothes that
you would be convinced that I am loved. My stomach growled being that I hadn t eaten all day and
it was a Saturday. On Saturdays Kayne is off work and even if he was nice when sober, I was still
scared. Even the social workers would believe that everything here was okay. A realization needs to

Juliet says how her love resembles the sea. My bounty is as boundless as the sea , my love as
deep , the more I give to thee , the more I have, for both are infinite . This statement refers to her

other is compared to as sweet as roses and birds that sing. They are all things to do with nature
signifies purity and beauty . Romeo describes Juliet as a light in darkness. It makes Juliet sound
more beautiful and shows how to Romeo, Juliet stands out from everything. But soft, what light
through yonder window breaks? It is the east , and Juliet is the sun . She is his source of light.
Their love is also referred to radiant and life giving as the sun. Shakespeare uses religious image

calls Juliet a saint and a bright angel . Shakespeare uses these images to show us that Romeo
does not just love Juliet, he worships her. He mentions phrases like eyes in heaven signifying
her beauty , baptised when all sins are washed away therefore one becomes holy and receives new

Causes Of The Los Angeles Riots
The twentieth century brought with it many conflicts, such as both World Wars, the Great
Depression, and civil unrest, the latter of which its effects can still be seen today. The Civil Rights
Movement of the sixties, paved the way for more demonstrations during the last quarter of the
twentieth century. One of the greatest of these demonstrations was the Los AngelesRiots (commonly
known as the Rodney KingRiots) of nineteen ninety two. The Civil Rights Movement had a goal,
which was to end segregation and discrimination of African Americans, and to try to improve the
wellbeing by integrating both communities. This movement had led to many others, both peaceful
and violent. However, the goal between them all was the same. There has been many conflicts in
the past between African Americans and the Anglo community, where most were caused due to the
discrimination or taking out the anger they had after seeing themselves being treated a certain way.
Before the riots, racial tensions had already risen. There was lots of gang related activity and crime
in the poor communities of Los Angeles, where many were unemployed. These communities were
common to drug sweeps, where more than eighty officers tore apart a pair of apartment buildings,
leaving dozens homeless (History.com).
On the night of March third, nineteen ninety one, King had high levels of alcohol in his blood, due
to drinking. He had been involved in a pursuit by the police department of Los Angeles. As King

The Mongol Empire And The Empire Of The Mongol Empire
Mongols Chinggis Khan founded the Mongol Empire in 1206 A.D. this was the rise of nomadic
pastoral societies in the north. The Mongol s established the largest contiguous empire in the
Neolithic era. The Mongol Empire was notable for their military power, their diplomatic
protection, and safe travel. These notable features aided the growth and expansion of the empire.
The Mongols conquest left a trail of blood and destruction. For a century, the Mongol Empire
cultivated for the first time East West contact. I will further discuss the primary sources and
secondary sources of the Mongol Empire. The Mongols encouraged trade and often moved
craftsmen and other specialists from one place to another. Trade was essential to the Mongols,
they started issuing a paizi (modern day passports) to government officials, foreigners they
traded with, and the nobles who would travel along the Mongol territory. The Mongol Empire
encouraged a wider distribution of good and idea, so officials made sure the travel routes were
as safe as possible. In addition, commodities such as silk could be purchased at lower prices
because the cost of travel and security decreased. The primary reason for these passports was to
ensure safety along the trade routes of the Mongol empire. The paizi is a metal plaque made of
iron and silver inlay, it had to worn around the neck, so it was visible. The inscription says, by the
strength of eternal heaven, an edict of the Emperor. He who has not respect shall

Cultural Impact On Hurricane Katrina
Hurricane Katrina was one of the most devastating natural disasters on record in the United States
(Skinner, 2006) In August of 2005, Hurricane Katrina made landfall along the Gulf Coast
destroying buildings, homes and communities (Skinner, 2006). Storm surges and levee failures
resulted in an estimated $108 billion in physical property damage, specifically in the areas of
Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama (Skinner, 2006). Furthermore, Katrina proved itself to be one
of the deadliest disasters in U.S. history as it claimed the lives of more than 1,800 people (Skinner,
2006).
The impact of natural disasters is often discussed in the context of physical destruction, economic or
financial consequences, or loss of human lives. While all of these factors are certainly important in
gaining a complete understanding of the devastation caused by natural disasters, the psychological
impact these traumatic events have on survivors is often overlooked. Likewise, it is essential to
consider the impact that local culture impact the government s response to disasters such as
Hurricane Katrina in order to understand why black residents reported higher incidences of
psychological distress than any other racial group. The areas most profoundly impacted by
Hurricane Katrina have a history rooted deeply in racial discrimination and segregation (Chia Chen

The novel Red Star Rogue is a novel about a particular submarine that served in the Soviet Pacific
Fleet during the Cold War. The book follows the Golf Class submarine K 129 on her final mission
which occurred in the spring of 1968. K 129 was a Soviet ballistic missile submarine whose
purpose was to launch nuclear weapons at the United States in case of the commencement of
hostilities between the two superpowers. The author Kenneth Sewell, who is a former submarine

Another strange occurrence is that 15 extra sailors boarded shortly before departure. This was
rare in that the crew of 83 men was already at full muster. The submarine set sail, and things
appeared to be going smoothly. The submarine is heading to its assigned patrol area in the
central Pacific. Suddenly, on March 1st, after a week at sea, the first indication that something

the mission, K 129 keeps sailing towards Pearl Harbor. (78) After two weeks at sea, the
submarine surfaces and then proceeds to attempt a nuclear missile launch at Pearl Harbor. The
author points out that what exactly happened will never be known unless Russian files are

America. What was the name of this rebellion? It was the Stono Revolt. According to (......)
twenty slaves (the exact number is unknown) attacked the Hutchenson s near the Stono River,
beheaded the storekeeper, seized weapons, and started matching towards Florida. This owes to
the reality that freedom had been promised by Spanish at St. Augustine. More slaves joined the
rebellion and killed almost twenty five whites before a British militia quashed the rebellion.
Historians like Hofer (2010) and Rodriguez (2007) have different explanations for the causes of
this revolt. This paper analyzes two reasons for the Stono revolt by explaining how they are
different, evaluating, describing, and interpreting the reasons. To begin with, Hofer (2010) argues
that the main reason for the Stono was a promise from the Spanish King. The author asserts that
the King of Spain had promised freedom and protection to all fugitive slaves. Consequently,
slaves belonging to Captain Davies escaped to Augustine where they were received as promised.
Other slaves belonging to Captain Macpherson ran away with an advantage of having knowledge
of the terrain to Augustine. They too, were received with honor and praise. In fact, Shuler (2009)
asserts that one of them was given a velvet coat. The news of warm reception of slaves (at

Sacrifice In Crime And Punishment By Raskolnikov
Sacrifice is the act of giving up something that you want to keep especially in order to get or do
something else or to help someone. The novel Crime and Punishment expressed the hardships of
the characters to obtain money at the time. Everyone was poor and had to give up valuables in
order to receive grace on their rent payments from Alyona Ivanovna, the landlady. It was a constant
struggle for Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov, who occupied the housing development of Alyona.
Raskolnikov had difficulty making ends meet and others complained about Alyona s unfair
behaviors. He believed in he would sacrificehis freedom and murder Alyona, it would save others
whom have dealt with the same poverty issues. The choice that Raskolnikov chose changed... Show

and can I, can I possibly....No, it s nonsense, it s rubbish! he added resolutely. And how could
such an atrocious thing come into my head? What filthy things my heart is capable of. (P1, Ch1)
Even his own thoughts of the murder disgusted him. Raskolnikov can not even comprehend his
urgency to kill yet he continues to plot Alyona s death meticulously. Almost from the first, while
he read the letter, Raskolnikov s face was wet with tears; but when he finished it, his face was
pale and distorted and a bitter, wrathful and malignant smile was on his lips. (P1, Ch3) Although
Raskolnikov has a hatred for his small flat and how disgusting his living conditions are, he
enjoys his bitter isolation. After he receives a letter from his mother, Pulcheria Alexandrovna,
and sister, Avdotya Romanovna (Dounia), his anxiety levels rise. Raskolnikov has still not paid
his rent to his new landlady, Praskovya Pavlovna, and yet his family sends him prayers of good
will. This idea of a religious merry message makes him cringe for he knows he has sinned. His
emotions are distorted and can not be changed, for the murder has maliciously embalmed his very
thoughts of what is right and

Social Learning Theory And Cognitive Developmental Theory
Abstract
Gender roles are the socially characteristic activities that men and women engage in with different
constancy. It can be challenging for either a male or female being trapped in a body they are no
longer comfortable with. Negative attitudes toward transgender persons may result in transphobia
as well as discriminatory treatment of transgender individuals. This gender identity disorder can be
due to social influences as well as within one s household. At younger ages it is believed that kids
are more pressured to adopt gender typical behaviors. Through examination of two important
sources social learning theory and cognitive developmental theory I will identify gender identity
and the internal and external struggles transgender individuals face.
Introduction of Topic in relations to Gender Psychology Visualize life in a society that refuses to
allow individuals to act in an assertive way because of how they choose to behave is not
considered suitable for their gender. Imagine individuals being around family, friends, peers but
they re not able to be their true selves. The point is it s nothing to imagine because this is the
society that we live in. Society should accept individuals for who they are or what they want to
become, not make them accountable to the traditional gender roles that society has constructed.
Men and women have been treated in a different manner for centuries, according to how people
believe both genders should behave. In today s

At the same time, Brexit means that the UK might exit the EU Free Trade Area (FTA),which means
that most agreements, regulations and legal basis, the British economy relying on their to develop,
will be broken and economic volatility will occur. Accounting to the estimation of WTO (World
Trade Organization), these potential failure agreements occupy about 80% of UK s trade around
the world. For example, the UK need to try its best to get access to European single market, need
to negotiate with other 60 countries and regions for the EU trade agreement etc.. In addition, if
Brexit succeed, the right of Britain in the EU trade policy will be reduced, for example, the UK is
difficult to take part in the negotiations about Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership
(TTIP) directly.
As from different industries, the strongest influence will happen in financial industry. Londonis an
international financial centre, because of the Brexit, its status around the world will decline
gradually. Currently, the UK accounts for more than 40% of global foreign exchange transactions,
and lots of European financial institutions set up their headquarters in London, therefore most
European countries derivative trading and risk hedging activities are carried out in the UK. Britain
occupies around 80% of the EU capital market activity, and there are 75% of European hedge fund

How To Juggle Three Tennis Balls
The past weeks we have been learning how to juggle in class with three tennis balls. We were
given the balls and were told to juggle with no instruction. However, there were a few people in
the class that were able to juggle because they were taught at a younger age or already knew how
to do so. We were trying to get through the three stages of motor learning, cognitive, associative,
and automaticity stages. During the first stage, cognitive, I was confused and had no idea what
was going on in the situation. I was in completely lost when it came to juggling. I never really
understood how to juggle three tennis balls, but I had an idea on how to do so and I tried it and it
was not the right way. In the second stage, associative, I was starting... Show more content on

With more practice the better you will get at the skill and the easier it will come to you. If the
student is at the cognitive or even the associative stage they need practice to get to the automaticity
stage. Another strategy is to give them hints on how to do the skill, with other people telling you
how to do it helps you understand it more and eventually get it to the automaticity stage. The last
strategy is that the student will be able to experiment the skills on their own, by that I mean trying
different techniques to accomplish the task at hand. For example, while juggling have the students
try different ways to start throwing the ball and catching them with different hands to see what feels
more comfortable for them and what way you have the most

Techniques Used In The Film Full Metal Jacket
You climb like old people fuck Private Pyle , Well any fucking time sweetheart! These two quotes
from the movie Full Metal Jacket are common techniques that most directors of war genre films
use to either grasp the attention of the audience or emphasize the scrounginess of war. War in many
cases takes the perception of life out of many soldiers. When soldiers return home, they are
desensitized to killing. Wargenre films use fast cutting scenes, captivating descriptions of scenery ,
and aggressive degrading language to promote the negative connotations of war.
Like many war films, fury doesn t stray far from the norm. The director uses aggressive and vulgar
language, combined with fast cutting and high paced shooting scenes, to convey many messages to

where he was brought up by an architect. Mark Haddon was educated at Uppingham School he then
went on to his English Literature major at Oxford, Merton College. After completing his studies, he
went to Scotland where he spent his time working with MENCAP which was an organisation that
helped disabled people, this experience of looking after individuals who were diagnosed with
autism and various sclerosis soon influenced him with his fictional writing. Having an interest in
mental and physical health issues it encouraged Mark Haddon to start seeing the commonalities...

Some of the characteristics of those who have autism consist of repetitive thinking and compulsive
attention in things like symbols, languages and numbers. The cause of autism is not yet known as
of now, however, many people consider it a genetic disorder which takes place at birth. Christopher
Boone has one specific form of autism known as Asperger s syndrome, his disorder is reflected
through his fascination with mathematics, detail, astronomy and colours; his thoughts on routine
and violent hatred to interaction, even though it is not specified in the book. In 1943 Leo Kanner a
psychiatrist published a paper surrounded around the research of 11 young patients that fit into a
fine variety of diagnostic principles that he measured out to be autistic. During Kanner s career he
has seen fewer than 150 cases that go with the description he came up with of the syndrome, he
theorised that autism was very unsupported and rare. Autism turned out to be a foundation of
embarrassment and several of those who were diagnosed were certified; in the 1970s everything
started to change (Kennedy Krieger Institute and the Simons Foundation, n.d.). Hans Asperger and
Leo Kanner both used the word autism, in the 1940s when they were doing

Polyaniline Essay
Much waste heat of low temperature is released and no viable technology exists can produce
electricity from this low energy density heat, so the long sought after class thermoelectric (TE)
material which directly achieve conversion between thermal and electrical energy obtain many
attention. However, the traditional TE materials are alloys of inorganic materials and expensive,
and most of them have some level of toxicity, so the research about organic TE materials is very
important. The polyaniline (PANI, i.e. one kind of conducting polymer) and PANI matrix

and TE properties were investigated by FTIR, XRD, SEM and ZEM. Results showed that the...

Additionally, some inorganic elements have some level of toxicity for the environment follows
with the low natural abundance. Thereby, in the present scenario it is unrealistic to enable a
widespread use of thermoelectric installations forwaste heat recovery. However, organic electronic
materials, especially conducting polymers (i.e. basing on abundant elements, light weight, low cost
large area flexible and non toxic), start to draw attention asmore economical alternatives to
conventional TE materials [19 21].
To evaluate the energy conversionefficiency of a TE material, a dimensionless Figure of merit
(ZT), is introduced to quantify the performance of TE materials and is defined as

Good TE materials require ahigh power factor, a high Пѓ and a lowОє, so the polymers are
expected to play an important role in the TE materials because of its low Оє.

also the generalbehaviors of polymers. Polyaniline (PANI), oneof the most extensively investigated

Organized Chaos
Society, on the outside, is organized chaos. Take Chicago for instance, if we removed rules and
time, it would be in turmoil. Crime, chaos, disorder; the city would not last more than aday. If we
add in laws, and enforced them with police, much of that chaos would subside. However, the city
would still crumble, and again, would die within the first 24 hours. The fundamental rule which
keeps a society together is time. Time holds society together, but in doing so controls what we can
and cannot achieve in our short lives.
If humans never accepted the concept of time, how would we function? We take for granted that

Comparing Christian Bible And The New Testament
The Christian Bible is split into two divisions, the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old
Testament, the first division, focuses mainly on the history of the creation of our world,
specifically the history and religion of the people of Israel. The second division, the New
Testament, mainly focuses on the life and religious teachings of Jesusand the beliefs of the Christian
church. Although the New Testament acts as an extension/continuation of the Old Testament, a
main difference between the two if the characterization of God and his relationship with humanity.
In both divisions, although God condemns those who are guilty of sinning and does so in a way
that can often be seen as quite wrathful, his loving side is depicted a lot more in the New Testament
than in the Old Testament.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Old Testament, in the Creation Story (Genesis), God proves how vicious he can be with his
punishments when he punishes the serpent for allowing Eve to touch the tree of knowledge. The
Bible states, And the lord God said unto the serpent, because thou hast done this, thou art cursed
above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt
thou eat all the days of thy life, (Gen. 3.14). Right then and there God exhibits his power over all
living things. God has a very strong opinion about the life that he s created and always has
consequences for things that he finds wrong with the world. In the Flood, while conversing with
Noah, God says, The end of all flesh is come before mel for the earth is filled with violence
through them and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth, (Gen. 6.13). The God being depicted
in the Old Testament is very merciless and seeks full divine judgment for all things he

How Is Schindler s List Related To Steve Spielberg
Steven Spielberg is well known for creating absolute masterpieces, and Schindler s List is no
exception. Throughout the film we are presented with characters, such as Oskar Schindler, that we
get to witness grow as they are forced to live with the decisions they make. Schindler s List takes us
through the Holocaust; we see heartbreak, murder and we witness a single man become a hero to
generations.
Liam Neeson ( Taken ) portrays Oskar Schindler, a German businessman who sets off to make his
fortune in enamelware. Schindler, in this film, is similar to an onion lots of layers that all make
us want to cry by the end of it. Neeson s character is supported by Amon Goeth, the monster
known to shoot people at random, played by Ralph Fiennes ( Lord Voldemort from the Harry
Potter series). The film finishes just short of three and a half hours and there isn t a single moment
that feels dragged out (unlike The Da Vinci Code which lasted a little under ... Show more content

This is to bring it back to the modern day, as if to touch down on where it is based on our history
timeline. Throughout the film Spielberg has also chosen to highlight a symbol of hope, we see
this symbol in red as if it is in relation to the blood shed throughout this horrible time. As
Schindler s List was filmed in black and white, to insert this coloured symbol they had to go in
post film and highlight it which meant that not every single frame was perfectly coloured. I
personally believe this was the right decision, and an effective one at that, as it gives the symbol
more of an aura instead of being simply coloured. It stops being just an item and truly becomes a
symbol that represents the film even in today s society. When I see this symbol I am able to
identify where it is from and recognise its meaning. Spielberg has had to be successful when
creating this symbol so that the story he has created can live on in generations to

A recurring theme in the recent sports culture is the mistakes of popular athletes. Sports culture has become a huge aspect of our society. As more time passes, sports become more influential in our communities. It has come to the point where everyone tunes in or hears about the mishaps of our athletic role model and their public apologies. It seems like every week there is another tragedy in sports, in the sense that another star athlete has potentially ruined his career. Every month there are athletes pissing their opportunities away. And people are always drooling to see what they have to say about it, if they are sorry or that they denial. Although it is getting more popular now, forms of apologia have been involved in sports ever since sports became popular. The earliest major form of athletic apologia was the Black Sox scandal. As Choi and Meek exemplify, transfers between related business units represent 60 percent of all international trades (Choi amp; Meek, p. 448). Thus, one can start to understand how important it is to define accurate transfer prices. As mentioned, the globalization of markets and the rapid development of communication systems have increased the presence of trades between companies under common control. However, other factors have also helped highlight the subject. Factors like the increase of service provided within MNE s, the continuous trading activity and the use of financial instruments have increased the amount of trade between associated parties. Political forces have also assisted in the development of transfer pricing regulations, especially now during this economic crisis as governments try to increase their income through tax collection. For example, a parent company could pay less income tax in the US by determining a higher transfer price from the product it purchases from its subsidiary located in China. Since China s corporate income tax is 25% and the US tax rate is 35%, this arrangement would generate a higher income at the subsidiary in China and less overall income tax payment for the financial group in question. Nevertheless, such arrangements can be prevented by tax authorities in the US, since according to Section 482 of the Internal Revenue Code the Secretary may distribute, apportion, or allocate gross income, deductions, credits, or ... • 6. Early Church Writings I found the early Church writings interesting, because it gave me a clearer understanding of the lattice weaving between the scriptures, catechetical manuals, witness statements, and liturgical guides working together supporting each other within the Catholic Church. After the fall of Jerusalem 70AD, the Holy Spiritwas obviously present for the Jewish rabbis to meet and agree on what Old Testament books would be considered Sacred Scripture: The Law, or Torah is the first five books of the Bible, the historical books, the Prophets, and the Writings. Origen also taught three ways of interpreting Scripture; the literal (referring to the intention of the author), the moral (our bodies are temples for the Holy Spirit, we should not desecrate our temple with bad habits) and the allegorical, (eternal significance, the Church is leading us to Heaven). 1777 years later the Vatican II gave three very similar guidelines for interpreting the Bible: 1. attention to the content and unity of the whole Scripture 2. adherence to the Church s Tradition 3. mindfulness of the analogy of Faith. The analogy of Faith means the harmony or coherence of the truths of Faith relative to one another and within the whole plan of Revelation. (CCC 112 114) Presently the modern Church does offer a bible that has good footnotes, pictures, maps, and clear explanation of scripture, more importantly to combat heresy; we must read the bible with a sense of Tradition, from what the original author means to say, not what I think the reading means. We had only collected 525 people which isn t even half, but it gives you a rough idea. There was an average of 10% lefties and 90% righties. I learned that different cultures have different results as well. Nothing too shocking though, my results turned out similar to what I thought they were going to. Few had expected the long struggle or heavy death toll. Even though the war was one it came at a cost; compulsory military service, broken promises to farmers and organized labour, high inflation, deep social divisions, and the suspension of many civil liberties. Some women had received the right to vote, but other Canadians recent immigrants associated with enemy countries had seen this right rescinded. Government had intervened in the lives of Canadians to an unprecedented degree, introducing policies that would eventually mature into a fully fledged systems, for example the Canadian patriotic fund which was set up by the populous however was taken over and remained under federal control. Politically, the war was also used for political supremacy. Borden s efforts to win the 1917 election and carry the nation to victory succeeded in the short term, but fractured the country along regional, cultural, linguistic, and class lines. English and French relations were never lower, and accusations of French traitors and English militarists became a huge social issue. The Conscription act would tear apart the already existing social divides in Canada. Firstly the French British divide became more profound during and after the war. The British where more inclined to join and agree with the conscription act as they had more family and ties to the lands where WW1 was waged. The French on the other hand usually married younger and had families making them more reluctant to join the war effort. Furthermore the French Canadians did not believe in the war effort as they where underrepresented in Canada and where therefore less inclined to fight for a Government that does not fighter for them. The purpose of this lab is to use genetic engineering to transform E. coli bacteria by inserting the plasmid pGLO, and to then see if the bacteria was transformed by using the antibiotic, ampicillin. Background Information: Genetic transformation is the change caused by genes. This transformation includes the insertion of a gene into an organism, changing one of the organism s traits. There are many other uses for genetic transformation including the altering of plant genes coding for frostbite, pests and spoilage resistance. It can also be used to digest oil spills and even alter in gene therapy to transform sick cells into healthy ones. If the bacterial cells do accept the plasmid then the cell will have antibiotic resistance to the antibodies, and the bacteria will survive. Pre Lab Questions: The two most important sequences on the plasmid that will be used are the ORI bacteria and the antibiotic resistance. The ORI is the origin of the bacteria and is an important part of the bacteria because it does the job of replication. The antibiotic resistance is equally important because it is used to see which bacteria take in the plasmid. In the lab there will be two micro test tubes used. One tube will be labeled +plasmid and the second tube will be labeled plasmid. Both test tubes will contain the E. coli bacteria and 0.25mL of calcium chloride (CaCl2), but only the +plasmid tube will receive 10pL of pGLO plasmid. There will also be four agar dishes used in this experiment. They will be labeled as follows: LB/Amp+, LB/Amp , LB+, and LB . The LB/Amp+ dish will have luria broth, ampicillin, and the pGLO plasmid. The LB/Amp dish will contain luria broth, ampicillin, and will not contain any plasmid. LB+ also contains luria broth, will not contain ampicillin and will contain the plasmid. The last dish, LB , will have the luria broth, and will not have neither ampicillin nor the plasmid inserted. • 12. Analysis Of The Chicago Tribune And William Randolph... This pair seized upon the headlines generated from a case involving a woman named Mona Marshall, who alleged that she had been drugged, raped, and forced into prostitution by a pimp. There were elements of her story that were genuinely factual and terribly disturbing, but other parts seemed far fetched. That included a tale in which the police reportedly received a note that she dropped from the window of the brothel where she worked stating, I am a white slave. In addition, Marshall s recounting of events included several contradictions with dates and key details. Nonetheless, The Chicago Tribune and William Randolph Hearst s Chicago American ran wild with the Mona Marshall story and it quickly gained a national audience. Clifford Roe gained recognition nationwide as the prosecutor of that case and he leveraged his newfound fame into more of an activist role. He subsequently published Panders and Their White Slaves and The Girl Who Disappeared, which was later fact checked by a notable sociologist Walter Reckless. He found that Roe used heavily altered statements from prostitutes to advance his agenda. In addition, Reckless studied Chicago s white slave court cases extensively and found that less than 5% of them actually involved women held against their will. In fairness, although Roe s methods were deceptive, one positive result manifested from his work as he successfully lobbied to get much needed sex trafficking laws passed in Illinois. • 13. Amphetamines Essay Amphetamines were first introduced in 1932 and were originally sold as drugs for nasal congestion that came in the form of an inhalant or tablet (Abadinsky, 2014). These types of drugs were the go to for just about any health issue (Abadinsky, 2014). In the 1930s and 1940s, amphetamines were used medically as treatment for schizophrenia, morphine addiction, low blood pressure, and caffeine and tobacco dependence (Abadinsky, 2014, p. 216). Toward the end of the 1940s, the drugs were eventually used as stimulants, also known as analeptics (Abadinsky, 2014). Question 2: Discuss how money laundering is connected to drug trafficking. Answer: Money laundering is connected to drug trafficking because the individuals who are handling the drugs do not want to get caught, therefore attempt to move their funds into an actual business to seem legitimate (Abadinsky, 2014). Since the money drug traffickers generate through sales is technically illegal money, they turn to money laundering to protect the revenue (Abadinsky, 2014). Money is laundered through currency exchange houses, stock brokerage houses, gold dealers, casinos, automobile dealerships, insurance companies, and trading companies and much more (Abadinsky, 2014, p. 252). After the value is determined, if the goodwill s fair value is less than the carrying value, the goodwill is considered impaired and must be charged off. Essentially, the charge off reduces the value of goodwill to market value, reflecting a mark to market charge. Essentially, goodwill is the value of an asset that is considered intangible but has a quantifiable prudent value in a business (Boundless, 2014). An example of goodwill could be the reputation a firm has with its client. It is important to remember that although goodwill is technically an intangible asset, it typically is listed separately on a business balance sheet. In the finance ministry bottom down budgeting was a traditional way used in budget formulation. Top down budgeting came in the 1990s as a motivation to curb the fiscal deficits in which it lead to fiscal crisis in other countries. Top down budgeting was found that it helps and manages well the fiscal deficit efficiently unlike bottom up budgeting approach. Countries like Denmark, Korea Sweden, Australia, Netherlands, and Chile etc actively use top down budgeting because it helps in getting information for the evaluation of new initiatives and also in reviewing of programs for monitoring purposes. Sweden adopted top down budgeting approach because of the series of huge fiscal deficits it used to incur and it came to be that top down budgeting saved them. Top down budgeting is advantageous since it is done multiyear unlike bottom down budgeting which is annually. Top down Budgeting saves on time since it has delegated authority to take care of the budgeting process unlike Bottom down approach which is time consuming. Bottom up approach ignores economic forecast since it involves ministry by ministry analysis unlike top down approach which focuses on economic forecast as it is bases more in fiscal analysis. Cultural Impact On Hurricane Katrina Hurricane Katrina was one of the most devastating natural disasters on record in the United States (Skinner, 2006) In August of 2005, Hurricane Katrina made landfall along the Gulf Coast destroying buildings, homes and communities (Skinner, 2006). Storm surges and levee failures resulted in an estimated $108 billion in physical property damage, specifically in the areas of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama (Skinner, 2006). Furthermore, Katrina proved itself to be one of the deadliest disasters in U.S. history as it claimed the lives of more than 1,800 people (Skinner, 2006). The impact of natural disasters is often discussed in the context of physical destruction, economic or financial consequences, or loss of human lives. While all of these factors are certainly important in gaining a complete understanding of the devastation caused by natural disasters, the psychological impact these traumatic events have on survivors is often overlooked. Likewise, it is essential to consider the impact that local culture impact the government s response to disasters such as Hurricane Katrina in order to understand why black residents reported higher incidences of psychological distress than any other racial group. The areas most profoundly impacted by Hurricane Katrina have a history rooted deeply in racial discrimination and segregation (Chia Chen Chen, Keith, Airriess, Leong, 2007). It was a day that marked the beginning of the largest slave rebellion in British North America. What was the name of this rebellion? It was the Stono Revolt. According to (......) twenty slaves (the exact number is unknown) attacked the Hutchenson s near the Stono River, beheaded the storekeeper, seized weapons, and started matching towards Florida. This owes to the reality that freedom had been promised by Spanish at St. Augustine. More slaves joined the rebellion and killed almost twenty five whites before a British militia quashed the rebellion. Historians like Hofer (2010) and Rodriguez (2007) have different explanations for the causes of this revolt. This paper analyzes two reasons for the Stono revolt by explaining how they are different, evaluating, describing, and interpreting the reasons. To begin with, Hofer (2010) argues that the main reason for the Stono was a promise from the Spanish King. The author asserts that the King of Spain had promised freedom and protection to all fugitive slaves. Consequently, slaves belonging to Captain Davies escaped to Augustine where they were received as promised. Other slaves belonging to Captain Macpherson ran away with an advantage of having knowledge of the terrain to Augustine. They too, were received with honor and praise.
