Roman Aqueducts Research Paper
Roman Aqueducts
Roman aqueducts are still around today and prove the Roman s intelligence of engineering and
knowledge of water structures. Some aqueducts are even operational to this very day! Many of the
aqueducts can be found throughout Rome, and it can really seem impossible that they built them
with how little knowledge and supplies they had at the time. Three notable aqueducts in Rome are
the Porta Maggiore, the Arch of Drusus, and Nero s Aqueducts. Roman aqueducts provided a vast
amount of support to the Roman civilizations. A few of these include drinking water, indoor sewer
systems that swept water away from the city, supplied the bath houses with plentiful water where
the Roman citizens relaxed so often. More uses of aqueducts included ... Show more content on

Waste water was dealt with by the Roman s sewage systems and then released into convenient,
nearby bodies of water. This kept Roman cities free from toxic waste, poisonous chemicals, and
other unwanted materials. It was not uncommon for aqueducts to be used for mining, processing,
manufacturing, and agriculture. Rome s complex water systems ran underneath the city,
throughout 260 miles of rock, and 30 miles of above ground arches. The aqueducts required very
specific positioning for the water to flow at the appropriate speed and direction. Many other
Roman civilizations manipulated and customized this model, tweaking it to fit their needs. It was a
very popular creation. By the 3rd century AD, the city had eleven aqueducts, with sustained an
overwhelming population of over 1,000,000 Roman citizens! If you think about it, this is a great
abundance of water. It s outstanding to think the Roman s developed this with such prehistoric
tools and limited knowledge. The aqueducts provided up to 1 cubic meter of water for every
person in Rome. Most water went to the use of public baths. The aqueduct s conduits were
constructed from many materials, some included stone, brick, and/or concrete. These materials
were used because they were strong and durable enough to carry

Internsment And Japanese Internment Camps
10/17
Claim For years, people have argued over whether Japanese Internment camps( interment means
putting a person in prison or other kind of detention, generally in wartime. During World War II, the
American government put Japanese Americans in internment camps, fearing they might be loyal to
Japan.) are an Americanized version of concentration camps. Some say that the Japanese Internment
camps were just as brutal and inhumane as concentration camps in Nazi Germany. Others will tell
you they were completely different, and I argue the same. The concentration camps and Japanese
Internment camps are completely different.
Let s start by comparing a simple aspect of daily life in concentration camps and internment camps;
wellbeing and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reason 2 Another reason that the concentration camps and Japanese Internment camps are
completely different is because the motive behind creating the camps was incompareable. Japanese
internment camps were created because the United States was scared of connections Japanese
Americans might have to the enemy, and the feared for the safety of the country. On the
contrary, concentration camps were created out because of Hitler s pure hatred for the jews.
When Hell asked Hitler what he intended doing if he ever had full freedom of action against the
Jews, his response was: If I am ever really in power, the destruction of the Jews will be my first
and most important job. As soon as I have power, I shall have gallows after gallows erected, for
example, in Munich on the Marienplatz as many of them as traffic allows. Then the Jews will be
hanged one after another, and they will stay hanging until they stink. They will stay hanging as
long as hygienically possible. As soon as they are untied, then the next group will follow and that
will continue until the last Jew in Munich is exterminated. Exactly the same procedure will be
followed in other cities until Germany is cleansed of the last Jew! (quoted in John Toland, Adolf
Hitler. London: Book Club Associates, 1977, p.116); A quote from Adolf Hitler on his plan to

Personality Analysis Paper
Introduction
Each one of us has his or her judgment about different issues that affect us on a daily basis. It is
because we have different genes that result in different traits to thereby resulting in different
reactions to different situations. While some people are profoundly affected by the death of a
family member, some are strong and gather the courage to move on with life. Personality allows
us to express our emotions differently. In this case, our gene composition will enable us to be in a
position to react to different stimuli influencing daily decisions. The purpose of this paper will be
to define personality at a deeper level while focusing on various personalities domain and how they
apply to different personality theories.
What is Personality?

Comparison Of Paleolithic Societies
Some ways that the paleolithic societies differed from one another were by their religion, ruling,
clothing, diets, and how they survived in certain areas. For example the Austronesian culture were
the start of things and was mostly done over water, taking both men and women, also bringing
domesticated animals. Thus leading to the hunting and gathering society. This particular society
became highly known for its equality because there were no formal rulers. Meaning no one had a
higher rank whether it be by gender or anything else, everyone basically had the same objectives.
Or the San Life, they were apart of the hunting and gathering society. They had fair enough food, a
society based on mobility (nomadic), sharing, and equality. There ways

Meeting 2 Notes From Our Last Meeting Essay
Greetings Team Matadors of Business 302,
I have created Meeting 2 Notes from our last meeting, where you will find all the information
about what we have done and the presentation speech we composed by putting our thoughts
together. I also finished the Contract and imputed all the details we discussed, which I will print
the day before we submit it and turn it in, if there are any issues with it let me know ahead of
time. I added one policy, the work ethic policy, I hope everyone is okay with this, it is basically
what we all discussed, but I felt it should be in the contract to be professional.
I also attached the details of the Real Estate major at CSUN in this email. We have a minor and

Benefits Of Legacy Application Mobility
Legacy Application Mobility, is the Answer Surprisingly Simple?
The significant benefits of mobility were highlighted in a recent Microsoft paper. The paper went
further than most, stating some quantifiable bottom line benefits for mobile application access;
claiming that mobility leads to 30% improvement in processes and 23% more productivity and
100% more satisfied employees . This enthusiasm and willingness to drive value for the business
outside of the typical work hours, or office location, can no longer be dismissed. So, what is
stopping organisations tapping into this extra productivity, and why are organisations that rely on
legacy applications, such as Mainframe, Unix, IBM i, Pick or even Multi Value systems finding it...
Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They have previously been physically guarded, so the idea of making them available on an
unregulated mobile device can be especially jarring. It s important to remember though, that
organisations who choose not to enable employee mobility are not immune to this risk. The latest
Forrester State of Enterprise Mobile Security report, by Chris Sherman points out that employees
are going to continue to purchase and use whatever devices and apps they need to serve customers
and be highly productive, whether or not these devices are company sanctioned . Whether you
embrace of shun mobility, your employees are likely to try and find their own mobile workaround.
Is this a barrier too high, or could there be a solution?
What there was a mobile app that would spontaneously give users a responsive, touch screen,
replica of the on premise applications they use to complete their day to day tasks? The app
would work on all devices and operating systems automatically, even those that haven t been
released yet. It would be as secure and performant as the in house applications and you wouldn t
have to develop it at all. It would just work. That sounds wildly unrealistic and in some ways, it
is. There is no app that will do all of those things, apps by their nature are specifically developed
for their destined OS; but apps are not a requisite for mobility. They are often lumped together and
assumed the same, but there is an alternative route to mobility that allows you

The Media Of The Oil Spill Of 2010 From China, The United...
Modern culture thrives on news media as our primary source of information, but this creates an
information overload from all of the various perspectives in coverage. Media coverage is
essential is our development and understanding of international affairs. Therefore, the biases in
coverage can have drastic effects in our interpretation of world s news. Countries tend to present
their news in a way that favors them and their governmental responses, but coverage of other
nations can be telling of their relations. The use of word choice, tone, and even selective use of
quotes can have drastic effects on people s perceptions of the information from the media. This
can be observed in the media analysis of the Xingang Port oil spill of 2010 through news sources
from China, the United States, and Ireland. While some nuances of American news mediastill
portray competition between the United States and China, the portrayal of the oil spill proves that
both countries are working toward improving relations with each other.
The relationship between China and United States previous to the spill was pretty stable in
regards to oil and energy. But the United States was feeling increasingly frustrated with the
Chinese trade policy as they refused to revalue the Yuan. In 2010, China was both the second
largest consumer and the second largest importer of crude oil behind the United States (Hays).
China had begun collecting oil for its national oil reserve in 2004 and most of this oil is

The Logistics Plaza of Zaragoza is the largest logistic park in Europe. It is a ten year project that
started in 2000, which is now at the middle of its completion. There are not many articles on
logistic parks up till now because it is a very recent development. Generally, logistic activities
would grow around strategic part without any pre planning. Due to overcrowding of those areas,
governments are now trying to place logistics in more decentralized regions and are trying to create

They might give Plaza the option of easily taking back the initial investment, however, they would
not be a focus for FDI nor would help in promoting Zaragoza as an important logistic European
center. International companies are still doubtful of settling down in PLAZA.
They still do not see the advantage of committing to a place where none of the services offered
are already up and running. Despite the facility, the airport still has very small cargo activity.
Railways are being built, but not a single train stops at PLAZA, therefore opportunities of linking
with ports are still to be exploited. Intermodality is still at the planning stage and the direct
connection to Europe through the Pyrenees is seemed as a long term project.
The brightest view of opening a tunnel through the Pyrenees is ten years away, due to the sudden
investment necessary to both Spain and France. The pillars of PLAZA cannot be built without the
necessary infrastructure. Up till now it is not a strong strategic area and is unable to apply
Intermodality; the only benefit is the comparatively low cost of land.
However, the cheaper land is not a very attractive choice for multinational companies; this will not
draw them to the park. The achievement of the project is still at risk. Managers, backed by the
government, still have to work tough to build up strong reliability and make sure that the essential
infrastructure is put in place so that Plaza becomes the best logistic park in

Theme Of Nobility In Julius Caesar
The Noblest of Rome
How could one determine whether a man is noble or not? How could one judge the extent of
someone s nobility? Throughout history, there are plenty of stories where the nobility of men have
been tested. William Shakespeare is known for writing stories where the nobility of men is heavily
tested. In Shakespeare s play, Julius Caesar, there are plenty of men who love Rome and would do
anything for the goodness of Rome. Caesar was willing to give up lots of his money for the
Roman citizens. Brutus killed his best friend because he felt that he was doing good for
Rome. But Antony is the noblest of them all because he avenges Caesar s death, he stays loyal to

However, as he is expressing his feelings to Antony, Antony states, Fear him not, Caesar; he s not
dangerous; He is a noble Roman, and well given (Shakespeare 9). Even though Cassius does turn
out to be behind the plot to assassinate Caesar, Antony views him as a noble man.
Antony sees when someone s intentions are good, even if they have a bad plan of action. Antony is
able to recognize nobility in men even if they have committed treacherous deeds.
Antony shows his nobility by avenging the death of Caesar, staying loyal to Caesar all the time,
and being able to recognize the nobility within a man, even if he is his enemy. Antony is able to
follow through and avenge Caesar s death by convincing the people of Rome that Brutus is not
all honorable and that Caesar did not deserve to die, which allows for the civil war to begin and
ultimately kills Brutus. Antony is loyal from the beginning of the play and after Caesar s death.
Antony will do anything for Caesar while he was alive and continues to take care of his name
after his death. Even though Brutus is Antony s enemy for killing Caesar, he still as the ability to
see that Brutus killed Caesar because he believed it was the right thing for Rome

Shadow In Chad, Africa
In the beginning, prior to the establishment of time and space there was a man named Shadow.
Shadow was the servant of a king by the name of Alexander. King Alexander was a very cruel
king, who found joy in abusing his power. One day, Shadow was ordered to go on a prolonged
journey to the edge of what is now Chad, Africa to deliver a letter to a man who called himself
Salvatore Orlando. King Alexander specifically demanded Shadow to not open the letter.
Shadow, like the obedient servant he was, packed his belongings and headed on to the lengthy
voyage ahead of him. After a few miles of walking, Shadow came across a young woman who was
clothed in rags with two kids on either side. Shadow could not bear to see her suffer, so he reached

Compare And Contrast David And Apoxyomeno
There are many different aspects of sculpture, in terms of the materials and forms that artists used
to express the subjects they wished to present. Sculptures are created in a space that can be viewed
from different angles specifically three direct angles the side, the front and the back. This is what
is known as three dimensional space, and also know as sculpturein the round. There are two
sculptures (three dimensional) works that are excellent choices for discussion, comparison, and
contrasting. These two are Donnatelo s David and Apoxyomenos (the Scraper). The latter was a

Contrapposto is an Italian word for counterpose where the weight distribution is on one foot and the

that Donnatelo s David gives the illusion of mass (possibly because of the femininity and the fact
that it was a bronze sculpture). Apoxyomeno clearly shows the mass of the sculpture, because of the
sculptor s use of marble. Both give the impression of movement. One of the similarities is that the
sculptures represented an asymmetrical body, which was created through observation of actual

The Wing Safety Office At Xyz Afb
Full Range Leadership Model Essay
Introduction
An organization s efficiency and effectiveness can be solely traced to its leader. When a team
within in an organization is found to be at fault, it is a leader s duty to turn it around. In this
particular case, the Wing Safety Office at XYZ AFB needs to rebuild its team into a cohesive unit
in order to successfully attack the safety issues distressing the base. Among other noted events,
their highlighted failures lie within the high rate of off base traffic accidents in relation to service
members and their families. By developing a clear strategy using three Full Range Leadership
Model [FRLM] behaviors, this safety office can ultimately achieve purposeful unity. This paper will
discuss the idea of using transformational and transactional leadership in order to fully understand
and conquer this safety office s meager performance. The safety office is currently comprised of
four members: MSgt Newscomb, TSgt Tilley, SSgt Green and Mr. East. Each person contributes
to the organization in a different and valuable way, which can be attributed to their personality
/behaviors and position. Behaviors of the individuals can be categorized using the FRLM, which
helps a leader s approach to solving a organizational problem. Starting with MSgt Newscomb, his
actions fall into the Laissez Faire [LF] realm of the FRLM. According to Arenas, Connelly, and

Hamlet s Character Development Throughout his Soliloquies
Soliloquies are common in Shakespeare s plays as it allows characters in the play to speak directly
to the audience and address their true thoughts and feelings. In Hamlet written by William
Shakespeare, Hamlet has several soliloquies that help to form a deeper, more developed character.
These soliloquies give the reader the opportunity to understand how Hamlet is struggling with his
father s death and his mother s new marriage. They also allow the audience to grasp the trouble
Hamlet is having while making the decision to live or die as he falls deeper into sadness. However,
Hamlet s final soliloquies show his newly found determination and growth. Throughout Hamlet s

(Shakespeare 1.2.150 153). Gertrude and Claudius marriage only added to Hamlet s melancholy
mood. Hamlet feels betrayed not only by his mother but also Claudius as he stole Hamlet s

about his uncle becoming King and marrying his mother so soon after his father s death. This
soliloquy is also the start of Hamlet s depression and his descent into madness due to his late
father, Claudius, and his mother s disloyalty. In Hamlet s fourth soliloquy, Hamlet s depression

Reducing the Immunological Reactivity of Food Allergens by Enzymatic Hydrolysis/ Impact of
Enzymatic Hydrolysis on the Allergenic Potential of Foods Introduction (Can contribute depending
on the requirement)
Food allergy represents an abnormal, immune mediated hypersensitivity to certain foods resulting
in the onset of instant or delayed adverse health effects in sensitized individuals. In developed
countries, around 5% and 3 8% of young children and adults respectively have food allergy (Vanga
et al., 2015;..). In addition, recent reports from developed and developing countries seems to
indicate that the prevalence of food allergy is on an alarming the rise (). More than 170 foods
have been identified to have the capacity to elicit immune mediated reactions. However, only a
subset of these foods are known to be responsible for most of the reported cases of allergic
reactions (). Observation of the main allergenic foods from different parts of the world showed
that one food may be a significant contributor to allergic reaction in one region while its
contribution to the prevalence of food allergy may be minimal in another region. Nevertheless,
major allergenic foods can be categorized as seafood, peanut and tree nuts, cereals and
pseudocereals, dairy, egg, legumes, fruits and some oil seeds.

Death Of The Ball Turret Gunner By Randall Jerrell Analysis
During war, there are two possible outcomes for a soldier engaged in battle life or death. In the
poem Randall Jerrell wrote in 1945, The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner , the most significant
thing one notices about the speaker is the fact that he s dead. The airman is telling the story of his
own deathfrom the grave. This gives a different perspective on the poem than if his friend were
the speaker. If the airman s friend were telling the story, it would have a more dramatic detailed
account of the incident; however, since the speaker is dead, he doesn t get too worked up
recounting the graphic events that led to his demise. Speaking from the dead allows the airman to
completely center the account on himself and not the details of how someone

A Study By Brigham And Women s Hospital
A 2010 study by Brigham and Women s Hospital in Boston found that one in five teens suffer from
a hearing impairment, which is an increase of 33% from 1994 (Dignan). Earbuds and headphones
have contributed to these numbers since using these at loud volumes can damage ears over time.
Earbuds and headphones have caused loss of hearing, as a result, there should be a restriction on the
highest volume they can go.
To put this into perspective, hearing is an important function of the body, taking many components
to transfer the sound throughout the ear. There are three parts of an ear, the outer, middle, and inner
ear. The sound starts in the outer ear where it is heard, then transmitted through the auditory system
toward the eardrum. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many international health organizations say that this is the leading disability throughout the
world and much of it can be prevented, since many of the causes can be fixed by changing the
person s approach to it. For example, if someone is attending a concert, it would be a good idea
to get earplugs according to Susan Kaplan, an audiologist with the UC Davis health system
(Meyer). However, not many people do this and as a result, have substantial hearing loss. A
symptom of hearing loss, tinnitus, is being seen in teenagers ever increasingly suggests a study
done in Brazil ( Earbuds Threaten Hearing ). Tinnitus is ear noise like hissing, buzzing, roaring,
beating, pulsing, chirping, ringing, whistling, clicking, or different noises in one or both ears or
in the head, with no external cause. There are two types of tinnitus, objective or subjective.
Subjective is usually connected with hearing loss, since it means only the person experiencing
the problem can hear the sounds. There are many ways to test people to see if they have tinnitus
or some kind of hearing loss. A few ways are a physical examination of the person s head and
neck, The Rinne and Weber tests, magnetic resonance angiography or venography, or a blood count
( Tinnitus ). These can tell which ear is damaged and even

Postmodern Noir Vs Cyber-Noir
Postmodern noir and Cyber noir
Across all noir periods there exists a unifying set of traits that link them all together and at the core
of that set is the desire to destabilize and unsettle the audience while also portraying a world in
which light and dark are in constant battle. As the 21st century furthers technological advancements
in the film industry the boundaries of what can be noir become even more blurred, giving way to
what many scholars call the post modern neo noir, or postmodern noir era. A fundamental aspect of
postmodernism is a propensity to destabilize the genre s realistic grounding. Postmodern film noir
involves a fundamental shift in the conception of artistic production in which creativity is no longer

Profit Margin
This column covers fundamental analysis, which involves examining a company s п¬Ѓnancial
statements and evaluating its operations. The analysis concentrates only on variables directly
related to the company itself, rather than the stock s price movement or the overall state of the
market. Profit Margin Anal ysis A company s stock price, in large part, is driven by the company s
ability to generate earnings. Therefore, it is useful for investors to analyze the profitability of a
company before investing in it. One way to do this is by calculating and tracking various profit
margins, which reflect how efficiently a company uses its resources. Profit margins are
expressed as a ratio, specifically earnings as a percentage of sales.... Show more content on

This is the bottom line that garners most of the attention in discussions of a company s
profitability. The net profit margin (net margin) compares net income to sales, such that: Net
profit margin = net income after taxes ÷ sales A consistently high net margin is often indicative
of a company with one or more competitive advantages. Furthermore, a high net margin provides a
company with a cushion during downturns in its business. Margin Analysis When analyzing
profit margins, it is useful to examine the trends for individual companies over time as well as to
compare a company s levels to its competitors and to industry norms. However, it is important to
note that margins can differ drastically from company to company and industry to industry. Some
industries, historically, have much higher margins relative to others. For this reason, when
comparing companies on the basis of their profit margins, it is vital to compare firms in
similar lines of business. Differences in margins for companies in the same industry provide
insights into industry and company specific cost structures. Table 1 presents the gross margins,
operating margins and net margins for three airlines for the last 12 months (current) and for each of
the last seven п¬Ѓscal years. The companies are AMR Corporation (AMR), parent company of

What Is The Central Idea Of The Wife s Story
The central idea of the short story, The Wife s Story, by Ursula Le Guin, is a wolf who finds out
she is the wife of a werewolf. To support this the author states, I saw him, I had to see him, my
own dear love, turned into the hateful one (LeGuin 7, lines 95 96). This quote shows the wife
finding out about her husband s curse, which is the central idea. The character vs. character
conflict of the family finding out about the husband and the character vs. self conflict of the
husband changing into a human and or wolf helps develop the central idea because, without these
conflicts there would be no story. In the short story, The Wife s Story, by Ursula LeGuin, there are
many different forms of conflict. Some examples of those are, character vs. character when the
family finds out about the husband being a werewolf, and character vs. self with the husband
dealing with him being a werewolf and changing between man and wolf. To support this the author
states, I saw him, I had to see him, my own dear love, turned into the hateful one (LeGuin 7, lines

Watergate Scandal Essay
On June 18, 1972, the Washington Post published an article under the title 5 Held in Plot to Bug
Democrats Office Here . The author, Alfred E. Lewis, claimed that five men, one being an ex CIA
agent, three being native born Cubans, and the last being said to have trained Cuban exiles for
guerilla warfare, were caught planting bugs in the offices of the National Democratic Committee.
This article sparked an important breakthrough in American journalism. Catching the attention of
Post writers Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward, they began to pursue the story. The works later
published by Bernstein and Woodward unmasked the man behind the bugging plot, Richard Nixon,

In their conversation, which is written in Dennis Lythgoe s article Tapes Show Nixon Weighed
Pros and Cons of Hush Money , Dean said it would take one million dollars to pay off the five
men, an amount that would be hard to raise. Nixon replied, you could get a million dollars. You
could get it in cash. I know where it could be gotten. It is not easy, but it could be done. The
president s own words proved that he was involved with the break in and that he used hush money
to keep witnesses silent. Another tape recording, called the smoking gun , uncovered Nixon s
exploitation of the CSI. In the tape, Nixon plans to have Richard Helms, the Director of the CIA,
and Vernon A. Walters, the Deputy Director of the CIA, call the Director of the CIA, Patrick Gray,
and demand that he stop the Watergate investigation. This crime was more severe than the hush
money crime, and it was the prime reason Nixon was charged with obstruction of justice.
Nixon was secondly charged with Abuse of Power (Article II), essentially because of his misuse of
executive personnel (historyplace.com). He used the FBI to harass enemies that he saw as political

3). Airport design has always been an important part of any renovation project or new
construction, yet even more light has been shed on this part of the process as the A380 and
future models will require larger gates, bigger hangers and improved baggage collection and
passenger transport services. Yeaman states that due to the aircraft s high passenger volume...gate
hold rooms may have to double in size, concourses need to be widened and capacity of ticket
processing and customs areas may need to be expanded (2001, p. 4).
Taxiway and apron separations may be one of the biggest challenges large airports are going to
face when analyzing how to accommodate the new large aircraft. Due to the lack of space that
most airports already suffer from to expand, the NLA s wingspan will require even more room
to maneuver. Mollman describes how Airbus A380 model will be able to operate at most
airports that currently serve the B747 400s, however, as its wingspan is close to 262 feet, the

Finding yourself and one s individuality is apart of each person s journey throughout life. In the

Avoid Processed Foods
1. Avoid processed foods. If you do nothing else to change your diet, this healthy eating tip is the
most important if you want to eat healthier. Processed foods are packed with unhealthy ingredients
like hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup, refined flour and excessive amounts of sodium
that contribute to weight gain and chronic diseases.
2. Eat moderate portions. Serving sizes have gotten huge in recent years to the point where you
can get all your calories for one day in a single meal. Plates and cups are much larger, resulting in
what s called portion distortion You think you re eatingthe same amount you always have, but it is
actually another 50 to 150 calories per meal you are taking in, which can result in major weight
gain. Don t ever supersize anything you order.

Get a little exercise every day. The more exercise you get, the better these healthy eating tips will
work, and the more great food you can eat and remain healthy. You don t necessarily have to join
a gym, just be more active in your daily activities. For instance, take the stairs instead of the
elevator, park at the farthest end of the parking lot, walk or bike to work, or go dancing.
5. Eat organic as much as possible. Eat as many organic foods as your budget will allow. The most
important organic foods to eat are meat and chicken, as conventionally raised meat usually contains
hormones and antibiotics that you don t want in your body. And certain fruits and vegetables are
worse than others in terms of how much pesticide residue they carry, such as celery and apples,
which you should try to buy organic.
6. Eat a wide variety of colorful, fresh foods. This is one of the best healthy eating habits to
adopt. The wider the variety of foods and rainbow of colors you eat, the more likely it is you will
get all the nutrients you need. And by trying different foods you may not have tried before you can

Psycho is a suspense horror film written by Joseph Stefano and directed by Alfred Hitchcock.
This film was loosely adapted from Robert Bloch s 1959 suspense novel, Psycho. A majority of
the movie was filmed in 1960 at Universal Studios in Los Angeles. Psycho is about Marion Crane
(Janet Leigh), a secretary from Arizona who steals $40,000 from her employer s client. She takes
that money and drives off to California to meet her lover Sam Loomis (John Gavin) in order to

This scene makes the viewer believe that she may be the possible psycho referred to by the title
of the film. Another instance that manifests this idea is when ever the camera is on Norman
Bates. Though he seems polite and amiable towards Crane, the shadows on his eyes represent
something more dark and sinister about him. These creative uses of birds and eyes help make
the film have more sharp twists and suspense by subtlety hinting at fear and death. The
characters of the film present another approach that shapes suspense in the film by making the
audience think that Norman Bates is a shy and caring, man who loves his mother no matter
what. Bates is first introduced to the audience when he checks in Marion Crane. He acts polite
towards her even offers her dinner. She exits to her room and this is when the opinion that he
viewers have of Norman Bates changes. He voyeurs through a peephole into her room watching
what she is doing and his actions become questionable. After the shower scene he finds Crane
dead on her bathroom floor. He hides the body because he cares for his mother that much. He
continues to conceal the truth even when a detective comes to question him. His mother kills the

How Students Adopt Social Media

review will provide information of the American and Scandinavian culture, with the focus on the
differences in the use of technology between them. The forth section will provide Social Media and

The definitions explain that culture as human made and that it is learned, it highlights subjective
elements such as values, beliefs and behaviors. However, culture is a term that is difficult to define
and it is difficult to identify all the factors that it encompasses (Davey, 2011). Culture includes
gender, sexual orientation, race, socioeconomic status, and cultural background (Peters Williams,
2009). Other terms such as mainstream, minority, ethnicity religion and race are used to describe
how a group of people, a community or a nation lives in their social and physical environment

2.2 American Culture and Technology
From a historic viewpoint, the American culture has dominated global culture based on its
technological leadership of Web based and consumer technology (Ashby, 2006). While these
innovations are adopted outside the United States, in America it becomes less and more global.
Cortada (2009) explains that American Web sites, applications and high tech gadgets are dispersed
worldwide, which results that it becomes less US centric, even though they remain influenced by
American culture. By using Facebook in this thesis, one sees that this technology is clearly a part
of American culture, but worldwide adoption causes them to become less American. Nye (1997)

Examples Of Constructive Dividends
Constructive dividends are a common occurrence in most small companies since they often conduct
their business in an informal way. They can attract penalties from IRS for both the company and the
shareholders involved. Situations that result in constructive dividends are described in the essay.
Examples of constructive dividends and how to minimize them in a corporationare also highlighted.
Concept of Constructive Dividends
The term constructive dividend is used to describe a disbursement made by companies that benefit
a shareholder though the instalment is not carried out specifically to that shareholder and
regardless of the possibility that no official dividend has been announced (Ault Arnold, 2010).
These types of dividends take place in organisations that are closely held and transactions between
shareholders, and the company is often informal. There are situations when a shareholder is

With An Estimated 9.3% Of Americans Currently Living With
With an estimated 9.3% of Americans currently living with major depression or bipolar disorder,
according to the NIMH, the safety of antidepressant drugs is at the forefront of many
pharmaceutical discussions. At present, the most common drugs used to treat the debilitating
lethargy, anxiety, and fatigue often associated with major depression fall into three key categories
based upon mechanism of action: SSRIs, Tricyclics, and MAOIs. Since major depression and
bipolar disorder are characterized by imbalances of certain chemicals within the brain, prescription
medications are often the best way of relieving the symptoms of these disorders. As with any
medication, antidepressants carry risks of side effects, which usually relate to the drug... Show more

Usually, due to the risk of these side effects, tricyclics are prescribed only after SSRIs have
proved ineffective. MAOIs MAO inhibitors (MAOIs) are a relatively volatile class of
antidepressants, which must be taken with utmost care. MAOIs stop the breakdown of NE, serotonin
, and the chemical dopamine in the brain, thereby increasing the availability of all three. Those
taking MAOIs should not consume any foods containing the chemical compound tyramine this
includes foods such as red wine, sour cream, and bananas. The mix of MAOI and tyramine can
cause an acute crisis of high blood pressure, which can lead to a stroke or heart attack. In
addition, MAOIs should not be taken in conjunction with an SSRI, as Serotonin Syndrome can
result. MAOIs are usually reserved for special cases, in which all other classes of antidepressants
have been unsuccessful. Since chemical activity in the brain can fluctuate on a daily basis,
keeping close tabs on your moods can signal the warning signs of severe adverse mood effects,
such as suicidal thinking. Ask your Doctor for a mood chart similar to the Wong Baker Faces
Pain Rating Scale which can help you interpret the severity of your depression on a daily basis.
Understanding mood trends can help you identify warning signs of serious side effects, as well as

After Enkidu s passing, Gilgamesh develops a fear for death, believing his fate will be like that of
his friend. When Siduri confronts Gilgamesh, he makes clear his overwhelming fear of death from
Enkidu.
Because of my brother I am afraid of death, because of my brother I stray through the wilderness
and cannot rest. But now, young woman, maker of wine, since I have seen your face do not let me
see the face of death which I dread so much.
She answered, Gilgamesh, where are you hurrying to? You will never find that life for which you
are looking. When the gods created man they allotted to him death, but life they retained in their
own keeping. (102 Epic of Gilgamesh)
After being told this, Gilgamesh still will not accept this fate, his fear of death and longing for
eternal life too strong in his heart. Utnapishtim puts Gilgamesh to a test to become a god and
upon failing, he begins to realize he is not worthy to be a god or have everlasting life. Again he is
denied everlasting life when the serpent snatches the flower that restores youth from Gilgamesh s
grasp. After Gilgamesh is denied everlasting life when the serpent snatches the flower that restores
youth from his grasp, the realization that he will never be immortal comes over him and he begins
his journey home. Upon arrival to the city of Uruk, Gilgamesh swells with pride

Types Of Videogames
Which are the best videogames? For the past 40 plus years, videogames have taken over
entertainment. With genres like first person shooters, horror, massive multiplayer online role
playing, open world, and strategy games being the biggest of them all. Many argue about which
of these genres is the best, with most arguments ending in torn friendships or just any negative
ending there is to offer. With these genres in mind, there are plenty sub genres. For now, we will
focus on the general genre of each game and the other games of that genre that did well. Having

It has become fan favorites all over the world. It will literally take you out your seat in fear. Can
you guess which one it is? It is indeed the genre of horror. Horror has been around for ages in
entertainment and when it hit the games back in the late 1980s it wasn t as popular as it is now.
The game that started it all was Resident Evil 1 for PlayStation 1. As a kid, most remember
playing this game and enjoying every moment of the jump scares and total rampage. It was a
horror game that also added the factor of a third person shooter, surviving in a whole lot of
different scenarios, having you stay up for hours trying to complete the whole game and explore
every crevice of the game. The franchise is one of the most popular of them all. Another
example of the more popular games that came out back in 2014 is Five Nights At Freddy s. The
franchise has then released many more games after that ranging from Five Nights At Freddy s 1
all the way to 4, Five Nights At Freddy s World and Five Nights At Freddy s : Sisters Location.
(Five Nights at Freddy s)Every kid knowing this game and having played it, it shows how horror
and the aspect of not knowing can introduce curiosity in a person and have you playing these
horror games for hours at a time. To give a better perspective of how big this genre is we can talk
about even another very very big game, Outlast. Outlast being one of the biggest games of the year

Shakespeare and Chopin
In one of the William Shakespeare s greatest plays, Macbeth, we can see an influence years later
in Kate Chopin s novel The Awakening. At the end of the tragedy Lady Macbeth folds under the
pressure paralleling some the burdens Edna Pontellier suffers from. Many of Lady Macbeth s
personalities are reflected in Edna. Through the suicidal acts taken by both characters at the
conclusion of the books, we can see the how Lady Macbethinfluenced Chopin. Macbeth also has a
great influence upon the personality of Edna. Edna has a similar battle, hers being between society
and her desire to fulfill her sexual desires and be independent. Theses unwritten rules of society
determine the fate for both of these characters. Clearly Chopin has taken... Show more content on

Macbeth also has some paralleling qualities reflected in Edna that are discovered during Act V
Scene 5 of Macbeth. In Shakespeare s famous quote,
To morrow, and to morrow, and to morrow, Creeps in this petty pace from day to day to the last
syllable of recorded time And all out yesterdays have lighted fools The way to dusty death.
(Shakespeare 177), Shakespeare conveys a dim reality that nothing is worth living for anymore.
Enda Pontellier finds herself in the same situation at the end of The Awakening, with a
melancholy existence and nothing left to live for: There was no despondency when she fell
asleep that night; nor was there hope when she awoke in the morning. (Chopin146). She goes
through the motions the last few days before she makes her trip into the deep seas. Macbeth lives
his last few hours with a sense of hopelessness, which Chopin entwines as a basic sentiment for
Edna. Another similarity can be seen between Macbeth and Edna through their similar desires.
Macbeth s desires of becoming king are inspired by the three withes. Robert arouses Edna s desires
to engage in sexual activity. Macbeth and Edna both these desires that go against the norm of
society. In order for Macbeth to rise to king he must murder King Duncan, which the society does
not consider to be moral. In Act V Scene 5 we see a defeated Macbeth, as he was able to overcome
or live above the rules of society.

Sexual Promiscuity In Rome
To all appearances, it remains underrated how much sexual pleasure surrounds the general Roman
populace as the spirit of lust happens as part of everyday life in early Rome and invasively arises
encircling everything. Essentially, the Empire s resident s experiences the visual manifestation in
hundreds of statues of false gods, and pagan temples. Furthermore, the assortment of continuous
festivals for the gods and goddesses helps excite its countless worshippers that were always
swarming the streets. Carved friezes decorate building frontages, depicting everything from daily
activities to nude pagan gods. Wall, floor and ceiling murals in homes and buildings commonly

in a new way of thinking about people s sexual beings. More than any other religious leader,
Jesus Christ consistently forewarns how spiritually real the evil of Satan/devils were and verbally
addresses the issue. The authors of the Gospels intertwine Jesus attacks toward Satan s spiritual
presence that is magnified in His teachings. On the other hand, within most other religions, such as
the Jewish Old Testament, the surface position of Satan is significantly lacking; besides the Book
of Job, the name of Satan occurs in just a few other books. In addition, note the word devils comes
forth in only four other verses; seemingly having a direct connection with goat devils about
whoring, sacrificing, and murdering children. On the contrary, in the King James Version of the

The Pros And Cons Of Kyoto Protocol
Global warming influences every country in the world adversely. In order to relieve this issue, in
1997, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC) formulated and
enacted Kyoto Protocol in Japan. At the beginning, more than 150 countries joined the conference.
After that, other countries ratified Kyoto Protocolin succession. Until now, there are about 192
countries have already ratified the protocol. The United States, however, chose to drop out in 2001
after becoming one of the participants for four years. (Cable News Network Library, 2017)
Drawbacks of Kyoto Protocol and negative impacts on the economy are two main reasons why the
United States dropped out.
Kyoto Protocol is an agreement that forces all the signatory countries to make great efforts to
relieve global warming. It is widely accepted that greenhouse gases are able to heat earth since they
can prevent heat from escaping from the atmosphere, a reasonable amount of greenhouse gases is
needed to keep the earth warm at a constant and comfortable level, but the overabundance of those
gases can influence earth adversely and thus increase the temperature beyond desirable level. Kyoto
Protocol is aimed at solving this kind of problem. Therefore, we can say that Kyoto Protocol is an
international treaty among industrialized nations that sets mandatory limits on greenhouse gas
emissions. (Rouse, M., 2013) The countries who ratified the protocol will be a member of the

The Impact Of Journalism On Society
The media and the public have had a relationship that has existed for centuries. Through the media,
people become aware of events and issues occurring around them. As a result, they make educated
decisions. Therefore, the media serve as witnesses of the events happening within our societies and
then report them to us. That said, could journalismhave a significant political impact in our
societies? It is through the media that governments and their citizens communicate. For instance,
people communicate by protesting and voting, governments respond by amending the issues
affecting the public. It is also through the media that potential political leaders gain recognition.

Without the media, how would the citizens be able to hold the government to account for their
actions? A fair and just society is built by transparency and accountability of the leaders. The
media serve to promote this, by acting as a witness of government actions. Politicians make
decisions and take action on behalf of the public. Journalists analyse those decisions and give
reports of the consequences to the public. Photographs, drawings, cartoons and videos cover
significant political matters. Photojournalists such as Lynsey Addario present critical political
issues that affect the world today. In her book, It s What I Do, she presents scenes surrounding
the fall of prominent political leaders such as Muammar el Qaddafi. The pictures on pages 4 and
5 of her book, for instance, show the struggles that the rebels went through in their quest to
dethrone Qaddafi. She quotes Robert Capa, who once said, If your pictures aren t good enough,
you re not close enough (Lynsey 7) which shows that photographs are significant in the world of
journalism. A video such as Shouting In The Dark reveals the heinous acts done by the government
of Bahrain towards its own citizens. In the video, we see the brutal force used by the government to
silence the peaceful protesters. People were beaten, shot, imprisoned, and killed. In this generation,

Samuel Colt and the Colt Revolver Essay
The Wild West is known for its cowboys and gunslingers. In the Wild West the pistol was an

So the raft drifted away from the mine so when Colt set off the mine it blew mud and water all

about to be thrown into the river when a young man by the name of Elisha K. Root came and
stopped them. This man would later help Colt by designing most of the different machines that
would make revolvers (Peterson 209). In 1836 Samuel Colt was granted a U.S. patent for a cap
and ball pistol with a revolving cylinder that could fire five or six shots before reloading (Silva).
After finally getting the patent, Colt bought a large tract of land about two hundred acres in
Hartford Connecticut where he built a giant new factory where he started producing many
revolvers. Colt made three different models of his revolvers and he also made carbines, rifles,
and shotguns. Colt s revolvers became big. The Connecticut River was next to Colt s land and
would flood that land every spring. So Colt hired hundreds of laborers to work on building a dyke
to keep it from flooding. The dyke was one of the biggest in America at a mile and three quarters
long. Colt s dyke was completed in 1854 (Haven). The United States was the first nation to give its
troops a revolver. Colt s revolvers were used in the Mexican war. After the massacre at the Alamo,
the Texas Rangers, with Colt revolvers in hands charged the Mexicans shouting remember the

The Bundesrat is a body within the German government that represents the interests of the
individual states and thus acts as a link between the Federation and the federal states. The
Bundesrat is made up of appointed representatives of the federal state government with each
state given a certain amount of votes in regards to their population. In total there are 69 seats
with each Lander given between three to six seats. (Reuter 2009, pg. 17) The Bundesrat
democratic legitimacy comes from the fact that its state governments are elected and thus those
appointed to the Bundesrat were theoretically chosen by the people. Thus to be a member of the
Bundesrat the person must have a role in the government at the federal state level. The
Bundesrat does not need to pass every bill, but rather is only required to provide approval to
bills if they directly affect the Lander and currently almost 50% of all bills passed need the
approval of the Bundesrat. (U.S. Library of Congress) The Bundesrat can reject appeal laws to
Federal matters, but the Bundestag can overrule those objections by having the same majority
as in the Bundesrat who rejected it. Review and discussion over the proposals submitted by the
Federal government are two of the Bundesrat s main responsibilities which portray its checks
and balances role in the federal government. If an agreement can not be made between the two
chambers, then a Joint Conference Committee is created to resolve any differences and create a
bill that has been passed by a majority in each chamber. The Bundesrat has a total of 16
committees who are are given certain undertakings in regards to their areas of knowledge and
experience. (Reuter 2009, pg. 25) The Bundesrat only has six weeks to consider a bill so the work

Ex Factor Lauryn Hill Analysis
My favorite piece of art is the song Ex Factor by Lauryn Hill. The song is about being in a
relationship that leads to a dead end and just wanting the same amount of love that is put out. I
love this song, not only because it s a good breakup song but because the message is powerful.
Lauryn Hill s song is very relatable, there are a ton of relationships where people know they
shouldn t stay with their partner but couldn t imagine a world without them. They have worked so
hard on trying to perfect the relationship, that they become dependent on that certain individual
and lose their self worth. Even though it kills them inside to be constantly let down they would
rather have it that way than any other way. The chorus of the song says, No matter how I think
we grow you always seem to let me know it ain t workin ... You d hurt yourself to make me stay
this is crazy, this is crazy .... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also You d hurt yourself to make me stay means that he panicked and made it seem like he was
going to change just so Hill wouldn t leave. This state of panic and confession of love only
happens when she is on the edge of leaving, but he continues to go right back to his ways soon
after. In the last stanza of the song Hill screams Care for me, care for me! I know you care for
me! There for me, there for me! Said you d be there for me! Cry for me, cry for me! You said
you d die for me! Give to me, give to me! Why won t you live for me?! . This is her breaking
point, all the things she is questioning she does for her significant one unconditionally so it s
heartbreaking when he cannot return the same amount of love. The argument being presented in
this song is that staying doesn t always promise love, dedication and the returned feeling of being

  • 2. Roman Aqueducts Research Paper Roman Aqueducts Roman aqueducts are still around today and prove the Roman s intelligence of engineering and knowledge of water structures. Some aqueducts are even operational to this very day! Many of the aqueducts can be found throughout Rome, and it can really seem impossible that they built them with how little knowledge and supplies they had at the time. Three notable aqueducts in Rome are the Porta Maggiore, the Arch of Drusus, and Nero s Aqueducts. Roman aqueducts provided a vast amount of support to the Roman civilizations. A few of these include drinking water, indoor sewer systems that swept water away from the city, supplied the bath houses with plentiful water where the Roman citizens relaxed so often. More uses of aqueducts included ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Waste water was dealt with by the Roman s sewage systems and then released into convenient, nearby bodies of water. This kept Roman cities free from toxic waste, poisonous chemicals, and other unwanted materials. It was not uncommon for aqueducts to be used for mining, processing, manufacturing, and agriculture. Rome s complex water systems ran underneath the city, throughout 260 miles of rock, and 30 miles of above ground arches. The aqueducts required very specific positioning for the water to flow at the appropriate speed and direction. Many other Roman civilizations manipulated and customized this model, tweaking it to fit their needs. It was a very popular creation. By the 3rd century AD, the city had eleven aqueducts, with sustained an overwhelming population of over 1,000,000 Roman citizens! If you think about it, this is a great abundance of water. It s outstanding to think the Roman s developed this with such prehistoric tools and limited knowledge. The aqueducts provided up to 1 cubic meter of water for every person in Rome. Most water went to the use of public baths. The aqueduct s conduits were constructed from many materials, some included stone, brick, and/or concrete. These materials were used because they were strong and durable enough to carry ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Internsment And Japanese Internment Camps 10/17 Claim For years, people have argued over whether Japanese Internment camps( interment means putting a person in prison or other kind of detention, generally in wartime. During World War II, the American government put Japanese Americans in internment camps, fearing they might be loyal to Japan.) are an Americanized version of concentration camps. Some say that the Japanese Internment camps were just as brutal and inhumane as concentration camps in Nazi Germany. Others will tell you they were completely different, and I argue the same. The concentration camps and Japanese Internment camps are completely different. Let s start by comparing a simple aspect of daily life in concentration camps and internment camps; wellbeing and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reason 2 Another reason that the concentration camps and Japanese Internment camps are completely different is because the motive behind creating the camps was incompareable. Japanese internment camps were created because the United States was scared of connections Japanese Americans might have to the enemy, and the feared for the safety of the country. On the contrary, concentration camps were created out because of Hitler s pure hatred for the jews. When Hell asked Hitler what he intended doing if he ever had full freedom of action against the Jews, his response was: If I am ever really in power, the destruction of the Jews will be my first and most important job. As soon as I have power, I shall have gallows after gallows erected, for example, in Munich on the Marienplatz as many of them as traffic allows. Then the Jews will be hanged one after another, and they will stay hanging until they stink. They will stay hanging as long as hygienically possible. As soon as they are untied, then the next group will follow and that will continue until the last Jew in Munich is exterminated. Exactly the same procedure will be followed in other cities until Germany is cleansed of the last Jew! (quoted in John Toland, Adolf Hitler. London: Book Club Associates, 1977, p.116); A quote from Adolf Hitler on his plan to Reason 3 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Benefits Of Legacy Application Mobility Legacy Application Mobility, is the Answer Surprisingly Simple? The significant benefits of mobility were highlighted in a recent Microsoft paper. The paper went further than most, stating some quantifiable bottom line benefits for mobile application access; claiming that mobility leads to 30% improvement in processes and 23% more productivity and 100% more satisfied employees . This enthusiasm and willingness to drive value for the business outside of the typical work hours, or office location, can no longer be dismissed. So, what is stopping organisations tapping into this extra productivity, and why are organisations that rely on legacy applications, such as Mainframe, Unix, IBM i, Pick or even Multi Value systems finding it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They have previously been physically guarded, so the idea of making them available on an unregulated mobile device can be especially jarring. It s important to remember though, that organisations who choose not to enable employee mobility are not immune to this risk. The latest Forrester State of Enterprise Mobile Security report, by Chris Sherman points out that employees are going to continue to purchase and use whatever devices and apps they need to serve customers and be highly productive, whether or not these devices are company sanctioned . Whether you embrace of shun mobility, your employees are likely to try and find their own mobile workaround. Is this a barrier too high, or could there be a solution? What there was a mobile app that would spontaneously give users a responsive, touch screen, replica of the on premise applications they use to complete their day to day tasks? The app would work on all devices and operating systems automatically, even those that haven t been released yet. It would be as secure and performant as the in house applications and you wouldn t have to develop it at all. It would just work. That sounds wildly unrealistic and in some ways, it is. There is no app that will do all of those things, apps by their nature are specifically developed for their destined OS; but apps are not a requisite for mobility. They are often lumped together and assumed the same, but there is an alternative route to mobility that allows you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Media Of The Oil Spill Of 2010 From China, The United... Modern culture thrives on news media as our primary source of information, but this creates an information overload from all of the various perspectives in coverage. Media coverage is essential is our development and understanding of international affairs. Therefore, the biases in coverage can have drastic effects in our interpretation of world s news. Countries tend to present their news in a way that favors them and their governmental responses, but coverage of other nations can be telling of their relations. The use of word choice, tone, and even selective use of quotes can have drastic effects on people s perceptions of the information from the media. This can be observed in the media analysis of the Xingang Port oil spill of 2010 through news sources from China, the United States, and Ireland. While some nuances of American news mediastill portray competition between the United States and China, the portrayal of the oil spill proves that both countries are working toward improving relations with each other. The relationship between China and United States previous to the spill was pretty stable in regards to oil and energy. But the United States was feeling increasingly frustrated with the Chinese trade policy as they refused to revalue the Yuan. In 2010, China was both the second largest consumer and the second largest importer of crude oil behind the United States (Hays). China had begun collecting oil for its national oil reserve in 2004 and most of this oil is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They might give Plaza the option of easily taking back the initial investment, however, they would not be a focus for FDI nor would help in promoting Zaragoza as an important logistic European center. International companies are still doubtful of settling down in PLAZA. They still do not see the advantage of committing to a place where none of the services offered are already up and running. Despite the facility, the airport still has very small cargo activity. Railways are being built, but not a single train stops at PLAZA, therefore opportunities of linking with ports are still to be exploited. Intermodality is still at the planning stage and the direct connection to Europe through the Pyrenees is seemed as a long term project. The brightest view of opening a tunnel through the Pyrenees is ten years away, due to the sudden investment necessary to both Spain and France. The pillars of PLAZA cannot be built without the necessary infrastructure. Up till now it is not a strong strategic area and is unable to apply Intermodality; the only benefit is the comparatively low cost of land. However, the cheaper land is not a very attractive choice for multinational companies; this will not draw them to the park. The achievement of the project is still at risk. Managers, backed by the government, still have to work tough to build up strong reliability and make sure that the essential infrastructure is put in place so that Plaza becomes the best logistic park in ... Throughout history, there are plenty of stories where the nobility of men have been tested. William Shakespeare is known for writing stories where the nobility of men is heavily tested. In Shakespeare s play, Julius Caesar, there are plenty of men who love Rome and would do anything for the goodness of Rome. Caesar was willing to give up lots of his money for the Roman citizens. Antony is able to recognize nobility in men even if they have committed treacherous deeds. Antony shows his nobility by avenging the death of Caesar, staying loyal to Caesar all the time, and being able to recognize the nobility within a man, even if he is his enemy. Antony is able to follow through and avenge Caesar s death by convincing the people of Rome that Brutus is not all honorable and that Caesar did not deserve to die, which allows for the civil war to begin and ultimately kills Brutus. Antony is loyal from the beginning of the play and after Caesar s death. Antony will do anything for Caesar while he was alive and continues to take care of his name after his death. • 54. Upper Houses In Canada Thirdly, the structure of the Canadian parliament is not the only method that can be used. Types of reforms that have been proposed have been based off of other country upper house configurations. Those countries have shown working alternative ways of how to separate powers over the legislative bodies. The Federal Republic of Germany has an alternative approach to federalism which differs to that of Canada and so does the United Statesof America. Those two countries have been very successful with their unique forms of parliament and offer an alternative structure to what Canada currently has. The history of the formation of upper houses in certain countries comes with the necessity to correct the injustices of their pasts. The institutional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Bundesrat is a body within the German government that represents the interests of the individual states and thus acts as a link between the Federation and the federal states. The Bundesrat is made up of appointed representatives of the federal state government with each state given a certain amount of votes in regards to their population. In total there are 69 seats with each Lander given between three to six seats. (Reuter 2009, pg. 17) The Bundesrat democratic legitimacy comes from the fact that its state governments are elected and thus those appointed to the Bundesrat were theoretically chosen by the people. Thus to be a member of the Bundesrat the person must have a role in the government at the federal state level. The Bundesrat does not need to pass every bill, but rather is only required to provide approval to bills if they directly affect the Lander and currently almost 50% of all bills passed need the approval of the Bundesrat. (U.S. Library of Congress) The Bundesrat can reject appeal laws to Federal matters, but the Bundestag can overrule those objections by having the same majority as in the Bundesrat who rejected it. Review and discussion over the proposals submitted by the Federal government are two of the Bundesrat s main responsibilities which portray its checks and balances role in the federal government. If an agreement can not be made between the two chambers, then a Joint Conference Committee is created to resolve any differences and create a bill that has been passed by a majority in each chamber. The Bundesrat has a total of 16 committees who are are given certain undertakings in regards to their areas of knowledge and experience. (Reuter 2009, pg. 25) The Bundesrat only has six weeks to consider a bill so the work in the Bundesrat is generally done ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. Ex Factor Lauryn Hill Analysis My favorite piece of art is the song Ex Factor by Lauryn Hill. The song is about being in a relationship that leads to a dead end and just wanting the same amount of love that is put out. I love this song, not only because it s a good breakup song but because the message is powerful. Lauryn Hill s song is very relatable, there are a ton of relationships where people know they shouldn t stay with their partner but couldn t imagine a world without them. They have worked so hard on trying to perfect the relationship, that they become dependent on that certain individual and lose their self worth. Even though it kills them inside to be constantly let down they would rather have it that way than any other way. The chorus of the song says, No matter how I think we grow you always seem to let me know it ain t workin ... You d hurt yourself to make me stay this is crazy, this is crazy .... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also You d hurt yourself to make me stay means that he panicked and made it seem like he was going to change just so Hill wouldn t leave. This state of panic and confession of love only happens when she is on the edge of leaving, but he continues to go right back to his ways soon after. In the last stanza of the song Hill screams Care for me, care for me! I know you care for me! There for me, there for me! Said you d be there for me! Cry for me, cry for me! You said you d die for me! Give to me, give to me! Why won t you live for me?! . This is her breaking point, all the things she is questioning she does for her significant one unconditionally so it s heartbreaking when he cannot return the same amount of love. The argument being presented in this song is that staying doesn t always promise love, dedication and the returned feeling of being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
