Political Parties And The Republican Party Platform
Generally speaking, anyone who lives in the United States of America knows that there are two main
political parties the Republicans and the Democrats. Having two main parties has its advantages and,
of course, its disadvantages. For example, in By the People James E. Monroe and Rogan Kersh (301)
point out having this type of system creates predictability and stability. However, they also declare
(301) it can lead to a gridlock. This is not a new concept either as there has been a divide since the
beginning of both parties. The two parties more often than not disagree on various issues, while rarely
agreeing on what is best for the country.
Democrats and Republicans highly differ when comparing views on climate change. The Democrats
accept human role in climate change while many Republicans question if climate change is even real.
In the 2016 Democratic Party Platform (27), they state in the first 100 days of the next administration,
the president will convene a summit of the words best engineers, climate scientists, policy experts,
activists, and indigenous communities to chart a course to solve the climate crisis. This is highlighted
previously when President Obama, a Democrat, traveled to Paris for a convention about climate
change where he met other leaders around the world to make a plan to help fix the issues surrounding
climate change. This shows the basic principles of the Democratic Party as internationalist and having
the large government as it states in the

Analysis Of The Movie American Sniper
U.S. Navy SEAL ,Chris Kyle was just the average die hard Texan. He aspired to become a cowboy,
but it wasn t working out in his favor. After seeing the horrors of terrorism on 9/11 he was ready to
fight for his country and enlisted into the military. He goes on to fight in four tours and becomes the
deadliest sniper in American history. After each tour, he felt that he had to go back. He had two goals
that he couldn t give up on; protecting his team and taking out the deadliest enemy sniper, Mustafa.
Chris would not stop until he achieved his goals, when he finally did, he faced a new battle. He
struggled with normal daily life, but even then he persevered and found a new passion to aid him.
Throughout this film, Clint Eastwood portrays the theme of perseverance through the use of setting,
camera angles, and the main character Chris Kyle. American Sniper is a film that revolves around the
life of a Navy SEAL sniper named Chris Kyle. Chris grew up in an old fashioned southern family and
grew up trying to start his career as a cowboy. After 9/11 that was the last straw for him, so he decided
to become a Navy SEAL. During his training he meets a girl at a bar, at the time it didn t seem too
serious to either of them until they end up getting married. Soon after the wedding Chris was to leave
on his first tour to Afghanistan. Slowly, Chris started to become a legend on the battlefield; all of the

“Evaluate the Claim That Religious Language Is...
In the debate about religious language, it is important that broadly speaking, there are two types of
language, cognitive and non cognitive. Cognitive language conveys facts i.e. things that we can know
or be cognisant of. Non cognitive language conveys information that is not factual; feelings and
emotional claims. Those who believe that religious language is non cognitive and so meaningless stem
their beliefs from the Logical Positivist. The Logical Positivists were a group of philosophers who
were primarily concerned with the truth contained in statements we can make, or in other words, with
what can be logically posited, or stated. The group began in Vienna, Austria in the 1920s and gathered
around a philosopher called Moritz ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Brian Davies further argued that the verificationism principle itself is unverifiable; one cannot verify
whether it is true or false and therefore by its own criteria, it is meaningless. Both Ward and Davies s
arguments significantly weaken verificationism. Hick argued that statements are eschatologically
verifiable, so that after someone dies, they can verify all the statements they made when they were
alive, however this is a weak argument against verificationism, and it does not weaken the verification
principle as much as Hick and Davies. One other philosopher who was influenced by the Logical
Positivists (alongside Karl Popper) was Anthony Flew. Flew believed that when you assert something,
you are also asserting (whether you like it or not) that there are facts/evidence that may count against
your assertion. His Falsification principle proposed that a statement was meaningless if no sense
experience could count against it; a statement is meaningful if it is known what empirical evidence
could count against it. Flew uses the parable of the gardener to illustrate his point; Two explorers
return to come across a garden in which had grown flowers and weeds. Even though there are some
areas which are overgrown, there are certain areas that appear to be tended to. One argues that there is
a gardener on account of the flowers, the other argues that they could be no

Moral Ambiguity in The Stranger Essay
Has there ever existed a person that has not judged someone else over their lifetime? Judging by
reality as well as literature it seems that no person like that has ever existed. It appears that it is human
nature to want to pronounce others as either purely good or evil. But does everyone fit into the mold
of good or evil? In Albert Camus s The Stranger, Meursault is a morally ambiguous character, and this
ethical indistinctness plays a major part in the novel as a whole and the theme that Camus is trying to
portray.
Meursault resists being typecast into an archetypal moral category in many of his deeds and actions.
Many of his actions in Part One of the novel help contribute to the fuzzy picture of the character. For
example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Abstractly, it almost seems as though the other characters in the book look down on his for this not
because he is not mourning, but rather because he is not mourning in the way they are. This sheds
light on the overall theme of the novel, that of people being cast out of society because their views and
methods do not line up with the accepted ways of society.
The same moral ambiguity is also present in Meursault s murder of the Arab and the ensuing trial. As
far as absolute morality goes, the murder is without question an act that falls on the evil side of ethics.
That point is not a topic for debate, but in the reasons behind it the reader can find even more of
Meursault s moral ambiguity. At the time, he does not seem to know why he is doing what he is doing,
but it is certainly not out of spite or malice, nor out of any specific hatred of the Arab himself. He
could be harboring a grudge on behalf of his friend, which would be understandable, since Raymond
is one of the only people we see Meursault truly connect with in the novel, if it can even be called that.
He could be taking preemptive action in self defense, especially after he sees the knife glinting in the
Arab s hand. In truth, it is never truly revealed what his motive for his rash action was, making it hard

Improving Education Through Cultural Diversity
In today s society, I ve learned that cultural diversity is important and it has been for many centuries
ago. The dictionary states that cultural diversity is the cohabitation of different values, cultural, sex
and race in one definite component. In America today cultural diversity has been an everyday
expression in the education world. Some have a misunderstanding of what it may mean. We must have
some type of order if we plan to be successful when it comes to having a diverse school. This happens
within our own learning services where our children and our students are well educated. This thesis is

I think it is a good ideas to teach children about what is right from wrong when they are young. I like
to tell children that they can work better together when they fully understand each other. Now and
days students have tons of technology in the classroom that most people feel that will help them learn.
Others feel like technology blocks student from learning because they depend on google. I ve heard
some students say that if you don t know the answer then you can just google it. Children are being
raised in the technology generation where technology is everywhere. But why stop children from
using technology when that s all that is big shown on television, in the media, magazines, radio, etc.
From reading a new article from Pinellas County School District I learned that the children from
Tarpon Springs Elementary school are via video chatting with student from Greece. I find that to be a
great idea to have children interact through technology. Why? Because the questions that the children
are asking some teacher do not know because they have never been to Greece to experience the things
that the children over there have experienced. In case of emergency, how do you get off the island
(Reeves, 2016). A fifth grader asked that question, I felt that whatever question that the children asked
were all good questions. In the article it did not state all the questions but I m pretty sure that some
students had question about their school activities in

History of the Philippine Agriculture
Philippine Agriculture over the Years: Performance, Policies and Pitfalls 1
Cielito F. Habito and Roehlano M. Briones 2
Introduction Although many still think of the Philippines as an agricultural economy, strictly speaking,
it is not. Agriculture, fishery and forestry directly account for just one fifth (20 percent) of the
economy s aggregate domestic output (GDP). Ever since the 1960s, the direct share of agriculture in
the GDP had fallen below one third, and by 1981, the sector s share had decreased to only 23 percent.
Growth from this level was rather anemic, averaging 1.7 percent per annum during the period 1981
2003, compared to the average overall GDP growth of 2.6% over the same period. While agriculture
output was largely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The last section identifies the pitfalls that have hampered investments in the sector and stifled growth
in the agribusiness industry, and ends with a general indication of the needed interventions to
overcome the sector s current hurdles.
Production and Productivity Trends Labor productivity. Up until the 1970s, the Philippines
agricultural performance, in terms of both agricultural Gross Value Added (GVA) and agricultural
exports, compared well with its neighbors and other Asian countries (Figure 3a). But by the 1980s and
1990s, the country had lagged behind most of the countries in the region (Figures 3b and 3c). This
came as agricultural output growth had slowed down dramatically through the decades (Figure 4).
Moreover, the sector s growth had been rather erratic in the 1990s, especially with the periodic
occurrence of the El Niño phenomenon that had appreciable impact on weather patterns and,
consequently, agricultural performance. Table 1 shows the average annual growth in GVA of major
agricultural commodities since 1960. What is clear from the table is that growth rates of all
commodities, except for livestock and poultry, have been slowing down over time. Furthermore,
growth rates have been below the population growth rate, implying that production has not been able
to keep up with increasing population. Erratic and decelerating growth over the past two decades is a
major concern, as agriculture continues to employ a large

Should 16 Year Olds Be Allowed To Vote Essay
According to Franklin D Roosevelt, Nobody will ever deprive the American people of the right to vote
except the American people themselves and the only way they could do this is by not voting .
(Brainyquote). The right to vote allows the people to have a say and a voice on society and the people
who run it. However, many say young Americans do not understand or care about politics and should
not have an opinion on who runs the country. Lowering the voting age to 16 in the United States will
help today s youth; 16 year olds are old enough to make educated decisions and have a strong voice on
this nation s current issues. Initially, 16 year olds should be allowed to vote because they show they

in local elections will enable them to vote before leaving home and high school, and establish a
lifelong habit of voting. (Fairvote).Furthermore, students are engaged in political discussions and
arguments everyday in school. In high school students start to understand government and realize
what is happening in society. As a student, teens are taught to have an opinion about the world around
them. Society contradicts what they are teaching by denying voting for young Americans. Denying
teens the right to vote is not only unfair, it is violating their 15th Amendment right. The 15th
Amendment states, The right for U.S citizens to vote cannot be denied by State or Federal
Government (Claveau). This clearly states that the right to vote shall not be denied to any citizen.

Causes Of Death In Romeo And Juliet
The Final Push To Fatal Ends
The deaths and conflicts of Romeo and Juliet are thoroughly frustrating, woven around lies, love, and
control. Each generation reading the classic Shakespeare play draws different conclusions and
opinions on the lover s tragedy. The faults and flaws of many characters shifting and altering the
events resulting in six deaths. Romeo, the main character rather impulsive and quick to act, makes
decisions that causes foreseeable conflicts to occur. As bodies drop and conflicts rise society is left to
determine their mistakes. Romeo s infatuations, and recklessness abandons critical thinking that

In addition to the conflict quickly escalates as Romeo pre sways Juliet to marry him the next day and
in his haste he makes way for many misunderstandings. This is evident as Tybalt confronts Romeo,
and Romeo foolishly says,
I do protest, I never injured thee,
But love thee better than thou canst devise,
Till thou shalt know the reason of my love;
And so, good Capulet, which name I tender,
As dearly as mine own, be satisfied (3.1.67 71)
this anatazingses Tybalt as the quotation sounds like mockery and therefore since Romeo knows
Tybalt does not know of his marriage, it is his fault. Mercutio s death is the conflict that results in
Tybalt s misunderstanding when Romeo intervenes the fight between Mercutio and Tybalt
unintentionally causing the death. This is reiterated as Mercutio speaks, Why the devil came you
between us? I was hurt under your arm. (3.1.101 102) hence Romeo is responsible for the deaths that
occurred in the play.
Along with the death of Mercutio, Romeo then violently reacts causing more tragic deaths and poorly
thought out plans to occur. Romeo in a blind fury seeking revenge for Mercutio s death demands
another death to follow, Either thou, or I, or both, must go with him. (3.1.122) he seals his fate as
Tybalt is slain by his hand. This leads to his banishment in Verona. Thus causes his mother s death,
Alas, my liege, my wife is dead to night;/ Grief of my son s exile hath stopp d her breath. (5.3.211

Do The Right Thing Analysis
Do the Right Thing
Films document critical historical events, entertain masses and educate the public on particular
practices. Depending on the theme and intent of the director, films have a substantial contribution to
the human civilization. Do the Right Thing directed by Spike Lee is a1989 American comedy drama
that highlights the racial tension in the ancient society. The film depicts a typical day for Lee in
Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn when strains between the whites, Indians and African Americans were
on the rise. The production of the film took place when the issues regarding the African Americans
were largely ignored. Therefore, the setting of the video in a black dominated community illuminates
the style as well as outcomes of good and bad (Townsend). It addresses the stereotypical notions that
defined Africans as dangerous and violent by portraying a picture of hospitable characters. Other than

including the Afrocentric dressing (Townsend). In terms of regional development, using the local
capitals to build the capacity and participatory approaches to decision making improves the
practicality of the interventions. The film meets this threshold because it explores the individuality of
a particular society, the systems, and institutions. This aspect is useful in designing workable strategies

Augustus Caesar and the Roman Empire Essay
In the antique land of Rome, a shattered visage of a man lies. This statue, in frigid stone, represents a
man who built one of the most formidable empires in human history, all while setting the course for its
eventual downfall. As the morning sun rises over the horizon in a blaze of glory, the statue illuminates
and reveals the somewhat melancholic ivy as it slowly envelops the forgotten emperor. Beside the
statue, hanging on a ruined stone wall, is a painting of the city that once stood tall and proud. The
painting depicts a beautiful scene that shows a joyous crowd watching in awe as colossal wooden

There are no marble arches and no lighthouses. The river has dried up with the memory of the empire
and the bones of a dead leader have long since turned to dust. Colossal galleons and crowds to greet
victorious soldiers are no longer even a memory in the minds of those alive today, simply words on
paper in books gathering dust in the darkest corner of a room. There is no one to remember the beauty
of the vast city; no one to describe the sight of the lighthouses and no one to recall the crisp aroma of
the once majestic river. All that remains are the few paintings and statues that did not dissolve with
time. The dust of the bones of men, women and children long since dead has faded from existence.
There is no one left to remember the man selling wares in the street or the woman grieving over the
soldier she loved. Nobody holds the memory of the child playing in the park or the servant bringing a
pitcher of water to his master. The meaning behind the statue has faded from everyone s mind. The
man, whose wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command secured his victory in every battle he fought, has
dissolved into nothing more than a story in a book. As the impending dawn draws near, a daunting
sight can be seen in the distance. The remains of what was once the centre of this ruined empire glows
in the morning light. Temples have crumbled to dust, leaving only the foundations on

It has been a while since you had to rely on a console to play a high tech game. Nowadays, you can
find incredible games that can work on smartphones and tablets pretty well. Of course, they won t
come with all the graphics and your device won t have the same capacity to process complex
adventures, but it doesn t mean that you won t get hook up and have lots of fun.
And Hollywood knows how hard we fall for our movies and have used games to promote their films

Development Cognitive Neuropsychology A Discipline
Introduction
Cognitive processes are described as the performance of composite cognitive actions. Notably
cognitive processes are operations that influence the content of the brain or the thinking process as
well as the remembering operation (Lamberts Goldstone, 2005). Cognitive processes are crucial
aspects of human behavior and are concerned with how persons utilize their skills. On the other hand,
cognitive neuropsychology is a component of cognitive psychology. Cognitive neuropsychology is
directed into comprehending how brain s function and structure are linked to certain psychological
processes. More significantly, cognitive neuropsychology studies the damaged brain cognitive effects
with the aim of inferring cognitive functioning models. Cognitive neuropsychology is a portion of the
extensive research field known as neuroscience. Neuroscience is multidisciplinary perspective that
combines numerous means of looking at cognition and human brain (Kaye, 2010). It is important to
note that evidence of brain injury, cognitive effects as well as the development of cognitive
neuropsychology is founded on patient case studies.
Understanding Cognitive Processes and Cognitive Neuropsychology Cognitive processes entail
working memory. Working memory is the human capacity to coordinate mental procedures with

Ben Carson s Life
The Life of Ben Carson Shows How People Can Become Successful, and He Has Challenged Me To
Work Harder To Achieve My Dreams. In the book Gifted Hands , Ben Carson s life illustrates several
steps for you to improve in your school education and everyday life. Here are three of the most
important steps. First expanding your knowledge outside of the classroom. When Carson wanted to
learn more about art, he went to art museums and galleries. He got books from the library about art
(Carson 71). You too can learn from outside the classroom. Watching some documentaries, reading
relevant books, and finding some hands on activities, are all great ways to increasing your knowledge.
The second step, working hard and smart at everything you do. One of ... Show more content on

Two reasons why you should read Gifted Hands. First it encourages you to work hard like Carson.
One fine example is when Carson was a little kid he didn t do so well in school, but he was
determined to get better. He worked hard and soon was the top of his class (Carson 38 39). Secondly it
teaches you that no matter where you come from, you can become successful. An example of this is
Carson s own background. He was a quote Ghetto kid from the streets of Detroit. (Carson10). A quote
from Gifted Hands I have found inspiring is, Whatever direction we choose, if we can realize that
every hurdle we jump strengthens us and prepares us for the next one, we re already on the way to
success. (Carson 240). This quote is inspiring because it tells us to look at the bright side. I hope that I

The Importance Of Setting Goals Through Treatment Planning
When a client attends an agency/program for the first time, the attending clinician performs an
assessment. The assessment is essential because it allows the clinician to know and understand the
clients history. The clinician needs to know what the client is here for, if this is a hereditary trait, how
long the client has been dealing with this issue, and etc. After this is performed, the client and clinician
will create a treatment plan. In this paper I will discuss the importance of setting goals through
treatment planning and how through evidence based practice, one will be able to determine of the
client has been reaching their goals. I will be demonstrating this through a client who would be dual
diagnosed. What dual diagnosed means is that an individual has both a mental illness and is using
substance/alcohol. Dual diagnosed is broad because it can mean that someone can be diagnosed with
schizophrenia and alcohol, diagnosed with bipolar and heroin, or diagnosed with obsessive
compulsive disorder and cocaine. It does not matter what their diagnosis and usage is. If the individual
is using and has a mental illness, they are considered dual diagnosed also known as Mentally Ill
Chemical Abusers (MICA). As previously stated, after performing as assessment with the client, a
treatment plan needs to take place. This treatment plan can be devised between client and clinician or
with client and the staff at the program. Treatment planning plays a significant role

Paul Meyer Communication
One of my favorite quote by the greatest success motivational planner, Paul J. Meyer is
communication the human connection is the key to personal and career success. As Meyer stated, it is
indeed crucial to have communication in order to gain success. Communication is an important part of
human life. No matter what we are doing, we are constantly communicating, conversing and
exchanging ideas. So far in my life I have overcome social anxiety, and communicating has been the
weapon I used to break my fear. So when it comes to communication, I take it very seriously that I
communicate effectively with people around me. I have two communication strategies I use to
communicate effectively with professors and friends/peers. These two strategies are, the first being
direct and to the point and the second is always having the reminder that the world doesn t revolve
around me. Strategies I would like to begin using such as encouraging feedback and plans that help
build my communicative toolbox. One of the most effective way I communicate with faculty/staff is
by being direct and to the point. In whole honesty, people don t need to know every single detail when
asking or stating something. When I communicate with staff/faculty, I think about the single most
important point I want to make or the central idea of my question. One of my preferable way to state
my main ideas is to meet face to face. I communicate better and dissolve my confusion, when I am
physically there with that

The Idea of Li and Governing Essay
Li, or rites, has played an integral part in shaping early Chinese philosophy, though not all
philosophers have agreed on its meaning or reason for application. Some will argue that human nature
requires us to us Li to be ethical beings, while others believe that Li will teach and mold us into beings
that will follow the norms of our society. The three major Confucian philosophers whom used the idea
of Li to shape their theories were Confucius, Mencius, and Xunzi. All three of these philosophers used
Li to shape their ideal government, but it was Xunzi who would have the most applicable form of an
ideal government. Confucius was alive and teaching during the Spring and Autumn period. The power
of the Zhou king was on the decline and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Looking back at the social norm of a man holding a door open, even though there is no direct
punishment for not holding the door open, a man will naturally feel a sense of shame when not
adhering to the social ritual that is ascribed to a man. He wanted men to do the right thing not out of
fear, but out of shame. This would lead the common folk to follow the Li and become gentlemen in
their own right. There would be no chaos due to lack of basic needs because the everyone in the
society was fulfilling their personal role, whether it be to provide food or provide governance.
Confucius also put a large emphasis on the Zhou kings of the past, calling them sage kings and
praising their ability to keep order through promoting Li to their subjects, which caused peace and
security to their fellow man (The Analects, 22). Mencius, a stark follower of Confucius s teachings,
viewed Li in a different light. Living in the time called the Warring State Period, Mencius saw the
discourse and chaos that Confucius had worked hard to fight against. While rulers fought amongst
themselves for power, Mencius sought to find what was the cause of this chaos and what could
alleviate it. Mencius had a nearly identical description of Li as Confucius, yet his Li was largely tied
in with human nature and the internal struggle to be a moral person. Li was just one of the

The Machiavellian Struggle in Spain and England during the...
The time of the reformation was a time of heavy politics, political wars, and religious attacks and
conflicts. This was a period of growth for some countries, such as England, and a time of decline for
other countries like Spain. These two particular countries, England and Spain, had two very powerful
rulers who helped determine the fate of their nations. Phillip II of Spain was born into a very powerful
family of extremely Machiavellian heritage. He had control of the Netherlands, Spain, parts of the
North and South Americas, and parts of Asia and Brazil. He was also extremely Catholic and loyal to
the Catholic Church. Queen Elizabeth I of England inherited a small country divided between
Lutherans and Catholics, but she would turn out to be one of the greatest rulers of England in history.
These two rulers would go head to head until their deaths, and while England rose up, Spain began to
decline. Although Phillip II of Spain was a very Machiavellian ruler, Elizabeth I of England was much
more Machiavellian, for Phillip of Spain was not governed by necessity, as Machiavelli advised; he
was feared by his subjects, not loved; and Queen Elizabeth I of England was an effective ruler and
near perfect example of the Machiavellian Prince. Phillip, though a great ruler, did not allow his
actions to be governed by necessity, but rather his religious ambitions. Phillip, His Most Catholic
Majesty, was very serious about religion. When the Dutch, within his empire, began

Design of Information Quality
Information quality is often a key dimension of end user satisfaction instruments (Ives et al., 1983;
Baroudi Orlikowski, 1988; Doll et al., 1994). Information quality is often not distinguished as a
unique construct to measure success but is measured as a component of user satisfaction. Fraser Salter
(1995) developed a generic scale of information quality, and others have developed their own scales
using the literature that is relevant to the type of information system under study (Coombs et al., 2001;
Wixom Watson, 2001; Gable et al., 2003) whereby the domain basically depend a lot on the dimension
of user satisfaction, how they perceive the information quality and whether it increases their job
effectiveness.
Ackoff (1967) mentions five misconceptions underlying the design of information quality and states:
The most important informational deficiency the managers suffer from is abundance of irrelevant
information . Information quality dissatisfaction, such as incorrect information due to data errors and
irrelevant information still exist even today (Strong et al., 1997). In other words, software quality
today is no better than it was decades ago (Whittaker and Voas, 2006; Parnas, 2003), plagued with
problems such as hard to use user interfaces and fragmented software modules that are difficult to
integrate which finally is related to the perceived information of an information quality of an end user.
System quality on the other hand is said to be the

Crime and Punishment journal book 1 In Fyodor Dostoevsky s book, Crime and Punishment, he uses a
lot of imagery and uses allusions to enhance his writing throughout the story. In the beginning he
alludes to Jesus Christ when Marmeladov says, I ought to be crucified, crucified on a cross, not pitied!
Crucify me, oh judge, crucify me but pity me! And then I will go of myself to be crucified, for it s not
merrymaking I seek but tears and tribulation (44). Initially, this part is a bit confusing, for you wonder
why somebody would want to suffer as much as he does. He wants to be hung up on a cross to die,

In chapter four of part four of the novel, Sonia and Raskolnikov both focus on things from the bible.
Sonia is a very disturbed woman who has a constant tremor, according to Raskolnikov. The biggest
allusion they make in this passage is when the conversation switches over to Sonia reading the story of
Lazarus. Lazarus, in the bible, was described as being Jesus s best friend. At one point he grew
seriously ill, and his sisters Mary Magdalene and Martha contact Jesus, asking him to come and heal
his friend. Jesus is unable to come, and Lazarus dies, but when Jesus gets there he raises him from the
dead. Out of all of the miracles Jesus performs in the New Testament, raising Lazarus from the dead is
by far the most outstanding thing he does. The only other person to raise from the dead is Jesus, and
that is after he was crucified. This is a significant story in the stories of both Raskolnikov and Sonia.
Sonia and Raskolnikov both need hope in their lives, and the story of Lazarus is all about having hope.
Sonia is in need of hope because she is living in such poverty, and anguish. Raskolnikov needs hope
because he is being trialed over the murder that he committed, and he needs something to look
forward to, in order to pass this tedious time that surrounds him. Another allusion that is made is when
Sonia is talking about Katerina Ivanovna. The way Raskolnikov seems to

Should veterans be able to live on their own with post traumatic stress disorder? Going from living a
great life with nothing wrong to being diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder, also known as
PTSD, is a life changing event for anyone, but should veterans be treated differently from everyone
else? Life of Ted Olsen was normal before he was knocked unconscious by a massive garage door that

a great abundance of free time. Ted would go outside to get fresh air every once in a while, but mainly

caught Ted vandalizing their car. Ted was sent to jail where he proceeded to go untreated, until he was

Order and structure gives me a sense of direction. Process makes me comfortable. The steps and

logical path for taking a client through a productive coaching conversation. Truthfully, while the
process is straight forward and simple, the execution was not as easy as it looked. But I trusted the
process and with a help of a gracious volunteer coaching client, I m growing into a better coach.
Finding a coachable client made the following the process easier and perhaps a better experience for
the client. My client, Geneva, is a Project Manager in the Human Relations Department at the

who suggested that Geneva would be a good volunteer coachee for this project. Kathleen made a brief

her interest in participation. She eagerly accepted my invitation and we set up our first coaching

that first session, I sent Geneva some thought starter questions. These questions were designed to help
me get to know Geneva a little better and customize my coaching style in ways that would benefit her.

encourage policy authorities to avoid relying for their credibility on an asset price (exchange rate)
which is dynamic by the people s expectations. In the next section, we will detail the advantages and
disadvantages of floating and fixed exchange rate regimes. The possible exchange rate regimes are on
a flexibility continuum of exchange rate regimes which Frankel (1999) describes in nine categories
from the most rigid (the currency union) to the least (the clean float):
1.The Currency Union: two or more countries share the same currency. If a country abandons its own
currency and circulates the anchor currency, it is called the Dollarization. It is not only applied to
usage of the US dollar, but generally to the use of any foreign currency as the national currency. For
example Ecuador, El Salvador and Panama are in a currency union with the US dollar. It is the firmest
fixed exchange rate regime.
2.The Currency Board: in contrast to a currency union, the country has its own currency at a fixed rate
of exchange. It maintains unlimited convertibility between its currency and the anchor currency. In a
currency board, the central bank must have enough foreign currency reserves to response to the people
s will to exchange their local currency and to be able to back each unit of the domestic currency.

Aboriginal People Of Canada
Aboriginal peoples of Canada have suffered exponentially throughout the entirety of history and
proceed to do so in modern society. Much of the continued suffrage of aboriginal peoples is as a result
of the Sixties Scoop and the Residential School System, as well as the lack of resources available to
them. This has wreaked extensive havoc on the mental health of Aboriginal peoples, and has left
excessive amounts of stigma and racism attached to Aboriginal Peoples, explicitly seen in the cases of
missing and murdered Indigenous women. The effects that have been left on the aboriginal peoples by
their experiences throughout history have had a profound effect on their quality of life. Many continue
to experience immense struggle in the areas of mental health and addictions. The sixties scoop saw the
removal of thousands of aboriginal children from their homes, leaving them without any of the
traditions they had come to know. This led to a feeling of great confusion as to who they were,
especially during some of the most crucial years of development. As is outlined in the story of one
such child, Lynn Thompson, who stated in an interview with the Saskatchewan Sage, Like many of

community in Manitoba, where I shot myself. I would have given anything to be in a residential

nation. And why shouldn t it be? The articles and television news coverage of celebrities is going to
sell a lot more magazines and draw in a lot more viewers than something depressing and/or hard to
understand like a genocide. Let s face it, when people come home from a long, hard day at work, they
want to be entertained, not forced to think of the bad things happening in the world. Plus, thanks to a
sub par educational system in the United States that teaches to the test and lets important subjects such
as geography and social sciences fall by the wayside, many people don t even know where these
places are that are experiencing humanitarian crises. They can t be expected to be interested in places
of which they have never heard. This, at least, is the common perception among the media today. In

How Literary Fiction Teaches Us To Be Human By Tom Blunt
Educators have long been arguing that literary education, in school and beyond, is crucial for
emotional development. However, until recently, very little evidence existed to scientifically support
this idea. In his article, This is How Literary Fiction Teaches Us to Be Human , author Tom Blunt
makes a concise but persuasive argument about why literature is essential for human emotional
development. In order to effectively prove his point, Blunt cites both scientific and anecdotal evidence
and emphasizes the essential nature of empathy, derived from reading literature, to future generations.
The first way author Tom Blunt attempts to prove his point about literature is through scientific
studies. In one study he describes, researchers found that reading literary fiction led to better results in
subjects tested for Theory of Mind , a budding field that explores the scientific basis for empathy.
Another study he quotes states that participants who had read the fictional story Saffron Dreams by

because of it even though they received the normal amount of medical attention, their organs would
then be of no use because they never gave permission for their organs to be donated to those

Special Interest Personal Statement
My goal in applying to the Master s in Education with a concentration in Special Interest is to expand
upon the skills and knowledge I have acquired through my work in the fields of education and social
justice in order to effectively foster a sense of agency among those in the adult learner population,
particularly those availing themselves of programs offered through public institutions, such as
libraries. The flexibility of the Special Interest concentration, as well as the program s wide offering of
courses available, specifically those that examine issues of culture and equity, will allow me to tailor
my studies so as to gain new strategies and develop deeper insight into how to best effectively
facilitate adult learning.

I have had to opportunity to research the implementation of integrated education in an occupied,
ethnically divided community. In assisting in special education classroom for developmentally
disabled youth and adults I learned to meet people where they are are and reinforce for learners the
ideals of personal best . As an advocate for families who had loved ones incarcerated (as well as
through the incarceration of my own child) I have insight into the unseen needs those who were
formally incarcerated. Theses experience have served me well. Working the Berkeley Reads Adult
Literacy Program as a BAE Tutor and ESL Conversation Club Group Leader, allows me to employ the
skills gained through my experience I have and showed me a clear path in how to support all my
ideals in one place. The program has close ties with the local adult school as well as a very dynamic
program lead, who fully supports my educational goals. Creating an atmosphere of respect and
excitement, helping the participants access and increase their own agency, and offering a safe and
helpful space within for the wide range of adult learners taking part in the programs will help realize
these goals. My background in working with marginalized communities coupled with my own past
experiences and current work with Berkeley Reads, as both Adult Literacy settings, I feel as if I have
absolutely found my calling in working with the adult literacy population.

A Film Review Of Night And Fog
The movie, Night and Fog was filmed in 1955 portraying all of the disgusting acts that were
performed and happened to the people throughout the Nazi Concentration Camps. This movie
captured many pictures and multiple clips containing the horror that the Nazi s were put through. I
really enjoyed this movie because it was compelling and hit pretty close to home. My father, who is
Jewish, had ancestors that were involved in the concentration camps and it pains him every time he
has to talk about it. Me on the other hand, I find it fascinating to talk about the past events. Watching
this movie really opened my eyes to say the least. The movie, being in French, made the movie more
mysterious and very puzzling. It made me leave with questions,

4 Kinds Of Students
4 Kinds of Students The author uses the analogy of the cup to represent the different kinds of students
by showing separate ways the cup is being used and if it is useful. The first cup the author talks about
says that the cup is upside down. That the student is there to learn but pays no attention. In this way
using the analogy of the cup shows that the cup is there but it is upside down therefore it cannot be
used or filled up because for example if its upside down on a table it is shut out and closed but it s
there. Like a student would be there but it would be no help to the teacher or themselves and they are
shut everything out and no information can be spilled in. I used to be like the first cup when I was in
kindergarten. I was like

Analysis Of A Rose For Emily By Faulkner
In A Rose for Emily, Faulkner aims to commemorate Emily Grierson by illustrating the past events
throughout her life. Through Faulkner s perspective, Emily begins her life as a normal girl who had
high hopes and definite goals to find love; however, Emily experiences several hardships during her
youth that severely alters the person she hopes to become and signifies herself as an object of pity.
Faulkner subtly reveals her pity and regret towards Emily through the portrayal of the toxic
relationship she has with Homer. It is evident in the story that Emily is whole heartedly incapable of
letting Homer leave her. When Homer meets Emily, he seemingly fills a void that she has been
enduring since her father died. In response to being sheltered ... Show more content on

In the same way that Emily s father regulated her own life, she expresses this same control over
Homer in hopes of maintaining her newfound happiness. The narrator affirms one aspect of control
that Emily expresses: ...within three days Homer Barron was back in town. A neighbor saw the Negro
man admit him at the kitchen door at dusk one evening. And that was the last we saw of Homer
Barron (Faulkner 82). In this scenario, Emily illustrates her inability to let Homer leave her by forcing
him at her house. Irrational control cannot be present in order for a healthy, productive relationship.
Even worse, readers discover at the end of the story that Emily is satisfied when she finally achieves
full control over Homer. The narrator exclaims, The man himself lay in the bed. For a long while we
just stood there, looking down at the profound and fleshless grin (Faulkner 83). Emily, who is never
satisfied with her control over Homer, did the one thing she thought was best in order to make him a
part of her life forever. Faulkner considers Emily a subject of pity because she feels she had to go to
extremities murdering her true love to achieve

Social Lenses Research Paper
Where we are, and what we believe affect the way we view society. Social lenses are the
preconceptions we make about the world around us. It is what makes people come across the same
situation have different perspectives and understandings it. They are caused by gender, sex, race,
ethnicity, socioeconomic class, and all in all experiences. As life goes on, a perspective over a
situation can change because of the experiences faced in life. Social lenses have affected my
perspective on the education system, the Black Lives Matter movement, and the lesbian, gay, bisexual,
and transgender community.

My sex is female, and I also identify my gender as being a heterosexual female. As far as religion
goes, I identify as a non denominational Christian who basically almost lives at church. All of these
aspects of my life affect my perspective on the LGBT community. I believe that being homosexual is
wrong and should not be done because only man and woman should be together, but because of my
religion, I also believe in accepting those people apart of the LGBT community. Many people would
say that I am wrong or confused for thinking this way because I am Christian and believe in God
because the bible says in 1 Corinthians 6:9 10, Surely you know that people who do wrong will not
get to enjoy God s kingdom. Don t be fooled. These are the people who will not get to enjoy his
kingdom: those who sin sexually, those who worship idols, those who commit adultery, men who let
other men use them for sex or who have sex with other men, those who steal, those who are greedy,
those who drink too much, those who abuse others with insults, and those who cheat. Many people
who are not truly rooted in their faith will see this scripture and will shun away all people apart of the
LGBT community or just stop believing in God because they are in that community. I, on the other
hand, know that even though that is said in the Bible there is more to this statement. The Bible also

Futurist Religion
It was Ali Muhammad As Sallaabee who posed on his book The Noble life of a prophet that a prophet
is someone called by God and filled with God s Spirit, a prophet spoke God s word to people who had
in one way or another distanced themselves from God. The prophet has for its task not only to deliver
the message from God to the people but also to predict the future. For the bible informs us that surely
the Lord God will do nothing, but he reveals his secret unto his servants the prophets.
Through the ministry of the prophets, we are introduced to prophecies, dreams, visions and account of

Instead, prophecy is to be regarded as purely a symbolic form of instruction regarding eternal truths
about good and evil. Most idealists are preterists. This suggests that the fulfillment of all prophecies is
of the past.
3) HISTORICISM: This system of interpretation is also known as the Protestant system because it was
cherished during the time surrounding the Reformation. It emphasizes the fact that prophecy has
continuity as its chief characteristic and that therefore the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation are to
interpreted as signifying events commencing at the time of the prophecy but surveying all centuries
until the end of time.
It is important for one to know, despite of the many schools of thought that may differ in their
interpretation. God has already made his message clear to us by the ministry of his prophets. Ellen G.
White, in her writings brings back to our memory that prophecy has its fulfilment in the past, present
and future. Some prophecies are already fulfilled, some are fulfilling in these actual days while some
are for the future. Therefore she says in her book Child Guidance that we cannot afford to live with no
reference to the Day of Judgment; for though long delayed, it is now near, even at the door, and
hasteth greatly. The trumpet of the Archangel will soon startle the living and wake the

Of Mice And Men Symbolism Essay
Songtai Liu English Essay Symbols in Of Mice and Men Of Mice and Men is a novella that was
written by John Steinbeck. It was published in the 1930s and it basically tells a story during the Great
Depression period about of two migrant workers, George and Lennie, traveled around and look for
new job opportunities; they arrived at a ranch in California and started to work at there. In fact, I
found that Steinbeck used the technique of symbolism very constantly throughout the story. So I am
going to introduce about some interesting symbols that I found in the book to write about. First of all,
George and Lennie s dream farm. This imaginary farm is basically what pushes the whole story line
since the whole story is about George and Lennie working while achieving their dream which is ...

about what we re gonna have in the garden and about the rabbits in the cages and about the rain in the
winter and the stove unquote. For George and other workers like the old Candy, as I mentioned, the
farm mainly symbolized as a chance of freedom, but for Lennie, since he is not smart enough, it is just
as simple as the soft things that he enjoys feeling over the course of the years. However, as the old
saying says Every coin has two sides. , behind the symbol of nice and lovely rabbits, we also know
that Lennie always hurts whatever he pets. Lennie clearly realized that as well. In the ending part of
the story, he saw a gigantic rabbit who told him that he just forget about the rabbits and just let them
go hungry. Of course that is all in Lennie himself s voice. This rabbit of warth basically showing that
in the deepest down of Lennie s heart, he will never achieve this fantasy, and the good side of the
rabbits are nothing but a shallow and childish

Scarlet Letter And The Other Wes Moore Analysis
When Swami Sivananda said, A mountain is composed of tiny grains of earth. The ocean is made up
of tiny drops of water. Even so, life is but an endless series of little details, actions, speeches, and
thoughts. And the consequences whether good or bad of even the least of them are far reaching. He
was correct because every microscopic action that we commit has an unintended consequence. Some
consequences, are good. Other consequences, on the other hand, can be miserable. In The Scarlet
Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, and The Other Wes Moore, by Wes Moore, both stories exhibit that
each choice a person makes has a consequence, good or bad. Each book is based around choices; The
Scarlet Letter narrates the life of a young puritan woman, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Other Wes Moore, the author Wes Moore used direct and indirect characterization to get his
point across that every action has a consequence. Whether it is going to military school, selling drugs,
or skipping class, every action has a consequence. The other Wes Moore got involved in the drug game
at a young age. He started out in the business by telling his boss (the drug dealers) if there were
policemen nearby the street corners where they would sell. Wes couldn t think of a reason why not to
get involved, Wes was sold. It seemed like a sweet setup, simply wear a headset, hang out with new
friends, notify people when you see police coming, and get paid at the end of the day. ( Moore 58)
(direct characterization.) besides the possibility of him getting incarcerated as a teenager. Within a few
years, Wes moved up in ranking within the drug trade business, and was actually dealing. One day he
accidentally sold to an undercover police officer, and got arrested for it. If Wes had never started in the
drug business, he would not have gotten incarcerated at such a young age. Not all consequences are
something bad, though, after the author of the book, Wes Moore, was caught skipping school
frequently, his mother sent him away to military school. It wasn t that big of a surprise to him, but he
was not happy when she

The Federal Rules Of Civil Procedure Essay
I. FOLLOWING RULE 56 OF THE FEDERAL RULES OF CIVIL PROCEDURE, THIS COURT

Literary Analysis Of A Farewell To Arms
Haunting yet passionate, A Farewell to Arms allows readers to perceive the story from a soldier s point
of view. Hemingway depicts the harsh war with sensory but blunt details. His expression of words has
an emotional appeal on the reader, allowing his or her to put themselves in the shoes of any character.
For example, on page 73 Hemingway writes, There was sunlight coming through the shutters. I saw
the big armoire, the bare walls, and two chairs. My legs in dirty bandages, stuck straight out of the
bed. Hemingway fully describes what is seen and this permits his audience to have a full picture in
their mind.
Hemingway includes important quotes throughout the novel. On page 26, Miss Barkley starts, You did
say you loved me, didn t you? and Henry replies, Yes, I lied, I love you. I had not said it before. Later,
she brings up the rotten game they play as their affection isn t completely real. The men at the mess
begin to talk about protesting war on page 61, You are a foreigner. You are a patriot. And the ones who
would not make war? Can they stop it? I don t know. They speak of this earlier in the book (page 43)
as well but they can never fully understand how war starts or ends. On page 99, Henry and Barkley
speak of their love, I only wanted it for you. There isn t a me. I m you. Don t make up a separate me.
Another quote on page 200, Henry explains that he is over his obligation of being a part of the army
by saying, Anger was washed away in

The Home Care Solution And Outpatient Family Therapy For...
(900)The Home Care Solution and Outpatient Family Therapy for the Treatment of the Mentally
Disabled This psychological analysis will define the necessity of home care for mentally disabled
persons for long term term treatment and family based outpatient treatment for the individual. The
historical examples of Bethlem Hospital and Charcot s Pitié Salpêtrière Hospital define the abuses and
freak show environment that did very little to house, treat, and car for the mentally disabled through
large scale institutional care. In fact, the neglect and mismanagement of these institutions set a
negative precedent for treating the mentally disabled as prisoners or social deviants from the late 17th
century to the 20th century. This study will argue in favor of a family based home care solution for
housing the mentally disabled, which will be accented by psychiatric and therapeutic evaluations and
treatments for the individual outside of large scale institutions. In essence, the historical neglect of
major psychological institutions defines the important necessity of home care and outpatient treatment
for the mentally disabled in the 21st century. One of the major problems of mental health institutions
is the abuse that many patients endured due to the historical problem of mental illness as a threat to
society. In the case of mental institutions of Europe throughout the Middle Ages to the 18th century,
these institutions were meant to house disruptive individuals that were

  • 2. Political Parties And The Republican Party Platform Generally speaking, anyone who lives in the United States of America knows that there are two main political parties the Republicans and the Democrats. Having two main parties has its advantages and, of course, its disadvantages. For example, in By the People James E. Monroe and Rogan Kersh (301) point out having this type of system creates predictability and stability. However, they also declare (301) it can lead to a gridlock. This is not a new concept either as there has been a divide since the beginning of both parties. The two parties more often than not disagree on various issues, while rarely agreeing on what is best for the country. Democrats and Republicans highly differ when comparing views on climate change. The Democrats accept human role in climate change while many Republicans question if climate change is even real. In the 2016 Democratic Party Platform (27), they state in the first 100 days of the next administration, the president will convene a summit of the words best engineers, climate scientists, policy experts, activists, and indigenous communities to chart a course to solve the climate crisis. This is highlighted previously when President Obama, a Democrat, traveled to Paris for a convention about climate change where he met other leaders around the world to make a plan to help fix the issues surrounding climate change. This shows the basic principles of the Democratic Party as internationalist and having the large government as it states in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. “Evaluate the Claim That Religious Language Is... In the debate about religious language, it is important that broadly speaking, there are two types of language, cognitive and non cognitive. Cognitive language conveys facts i.e. things that we can know or be cognisant of. Non cognitive language conveys information that is not factual; feelings and emotional claims. Those who believe that religious language is non cognitive and so meaningless stem their beliefs from the Logical Positivist. The Logical Positivists were a group of philosophers who were primarily concerned with the truth contained in statements we can make, or in other words, with what can be logically posited, or stated. The group began in Vienna, Austria in the 1920s and gathered around a philosopher called Moritz ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Brian Davies further argued that the verificationism principle itself is unverifiable; one cannot verify whether it is true or false and therefore by its own criteria, it is meaningless. Both Ward and Davies s arguments significantly weaken verificationism. Hick argued that statements are eschatologically verifiable, so that after someone dies, they can verify all the statements they made when they were alive, however this is a weak argument against verificationism, and it does not weaken the verification principle as much as Hick and Davies. One other philosopher who was influenced by the Logical Positivists (alongside Karl Popper) was Anthony Flew. Flew believed that when you assert something, you are also asserting (whether you like it or not) that there are facts/evidence that may count against your assertion. His Falsification principle proposed that a statement was meaningless if no sense experience could count against it; a statement is meaningful if it is known what empirical evidence could count against it. Flew uses the parable of the gardener to illustrate his point; Two explorers return to come across a garden in which had grown flowers and weeds. Even though there are some areas which are overgrown, there are certain areas that appear to be tended to. One argues that there is a gardener on account of the flowers, the other argues that they could be no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Moral Ambiguity in The Stranger Essay Has there ever existed a person that has not judged someone else over their lifetime? Judging by reality as well as literature it seems that no person like that has ever existed. It appears that it is human nature to want to pronounce others as either purely good or evil. But does everyone fit into the mold of good or evil? In Albert Camus s The Stranger, Meursault is a morally ambiguous character, and this ethical indistinctness plays a major part in the novel as a whole and the theme that Camus is trying to portray. Meursault resists being typecast into an archetypal moral category in many of his deeds and actions. Many of his actions in Part One of the novel help contribute to the fuzzy picture of the character. For example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Abstractly, it almost seems as though the other characters in the book look down on his for this not because he is not mourning, but rather because he is not mourning in the way they are. This sheds light on the overall theme of the novel, that of people being cast out of society because their views and methods do not line up with the accepted ways of society. The same moral ambiguity is also present in Meursault s murder of the Arab and the ensuing trial. As far as absolute morality goes, the murder is without question an act that falls on the evil side of ethics. That point is not a topic for debate, but in the reasons behind it the reader can find even more of Meursault s moral ambiguity. At the time, he does not seem to know why he is doing what he is doing, but it is certainly not out of spite or malice, nor out of any specific hatred of the Arab himself. He could be harboring a grudge on behalf of his friend, which would be understandable, since Raymond is one of the only people we see Meursault truly connect with in the novel, if it can even be called that. He could be taking preemptive action in self defense, especially after he sees the knife glinting in the Arab s hand. In truth, it is never truly revealed what his motive for his rash action was, making it hard again to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The dictionary states that cultural diversity is the cohabitation of different values, cultural, sex and race in one definite component. In America today cultural diversity has been an everyday expression in the education world. Some have a misunderstanding of what it may mean. We must have some type of order if we plan to be successful when it comes to having a diverse school. I think it is a good ideas to teach children about what is right from wrong when they are young. I like to tell children that they can work better together when they fully understand each other. I ve heard some students say that if you don t know the answer then you can just google it. Children are being raised in the technology generation where technology is everywhere. But why stop children from using technology when that s all that is big shown on television, in the media, magazines, radio, etc. From reading a new article from Pinellas County School District I learned that the children from Tarpon Springs Elementary school are via video chatting with student from Greece. • 10. History of the Philippine Agriculture Philippine Agriculture over the Years: Performance, Policies and Pitfalls 1 Cielito F. Habito and Roehlano M. Briones 2 Introduction Although many still think of the Philippines as an agricultural economy, strictly speaking, it is not. Agriculture, fishery and forestry directly account for just one fifth (20 percent) of the economy s aggregate domestic output (GDP). Ever since the 1960s, the direct share of agriculture in the GDP had fallen below one third, and by 1981, the sector s share had decreased to only 23 percent. Growth from this level was rather anemic, averaging 1.7 percent per annum during the period 1981 2003, compared to the average overall GDP growth of 2.6% over the same period. The last section identifies the pitfalls that have hampered investments in the sector and stifled growth in the agribusiness industry, and ends with a general indication of the needed interventions to overcome the sector s current hurdles. Production and Productivity Trends Labor productivity. Up until the 1970s, the Philippines agricultural performance, in terms of both agricultural Gross Value Added (GVA) and agricultural exports, compared well with its neighbors and other Asian countries (Figure 3a). But by the 1980s and 1990s, the country had lagged behind most of the countries in the region (Figures 3b and 3c). This came as agricultural output growth had slowed down dramatically through the decades (Figure 4). Moreover, the sector s growth had been rather erratic in the 1990s, especially with the periodic occurrence of the El Niño phenomenon that had appreciable impact on weather patterns and, consequently, agricultural performance. Table 1 shows the average annual growth in GVA of major agricultural commodities since 1960. What is clear from the table is that growth rates of all commodities, except for livestock and poultry, have been slowing down over time. Furthermore, growth rates have been below the population growth rate, implying that production has not been able to keep up with increasing population. Erratic and decelerating growth over the past two decades is a major concern, as agriculture continues to employ a large ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Should 16 Year Olds Be Allowed To Vote Essay According to Franklin D Roosevelt, Nobody will ever deprive the American people of the right to vote except the American people themselves and the only way they could do this is by not voting . (Brainyquote). The right to vote allows the people to have a say and a voice on society and the people who run it. However, many say young Americans do not understand or care about politics and should not have an opinion on who runs the country. Lowering the voting age to 16 in the United States will help today s youth; 16 year olds are old enough to make educated decisions and have a strong voice on this nation s current issues. Allowing 16 and 17 year olds to vote in local elections will enable them to vote before leaving home and high school, and establish a lifelong habit of voting. In high school students start to understand government and realize what is happening in society. As a student, teens are taught to have an opinion about the world around them. Society contradicts what they are teaching by denying voting for young Americans. Denying teens the right to vote is not only unfair, it is violating their 15th Amendment right. Mercutio s death is the conflict that results in Tybalt s misunderstanding when Romeo intervenes the fight between Mercutio and Tybalt unintentionally causing the death. This is reiterated as Mercutio speaks, Why the devil came you between us? I was hurt under your arm. (3.1.101 102) hence Romeo is responsible for the deaths that occurred in the play. Along with the death of Mercutio, Romeo then violently reacts causing more tragic deaths and poorly thought out plans to occur. Romeo in a blind fury seeking revenge for Mercutio s death demands another death to follow, Either thou, or I, or both, must go with him. (3.1.122) he seals his fate as Tybalt is slain by his hand. Do the Right Thing directed by Spike Lee is a1989 American comedy drama that highlights the racial tension in the ancient society. The film depicts a typical day for Lee in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn when strains between the whites, Indians and African Americans were on the rise. The production of the film took place when the issues regarding the African Americans were largely ignored. Therefore, the setting of the video in a black dominated community illuminates the style as well as outcomes of good and bad (Townsend). This statue, in frigid stone, represents a man who built one of the most formidable empires in human history, all while setting the course for its eventual downfall. As the morning sun rises over the horizon in a blaze of glory, the statue illuminates and reveals the somewhat melancholic ivy as it slowly envelops the forgotten emperor. Beside the statue, hanging on a ruined stone wall, is a painting of the city that once stood tall and proud. The river has dried up with the memory of the empire and the bones of a dead leader have long since turned to dust. Colossal galleons and crowds to greet victorious soldiers are no longer even a memory in the minds of those alive today, simply words on paper in books gathering dust in the darkest corner of a room. There is no one to remember the beauty of the vast city; no one to describe the sight of the lighthouses and no one to recall the crisp aroma of the once majestic river. All that remains are the few paintings and statues that did not dissolve with time. The dust of the bones of men, women and children long since dead has faded from existence. There is no one left to remember the man selling wares in the street or the woman grieving over the soldier she loved. Nobody holds the memory of the child playing in the park or the servant bringing a pitcher of water to his master. The meaning behind the statue has faded from everyone s mind. The man, whose wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command secured his victory in every battle he fought, has dissolved into nothing more than a story in a book. As the impending dawn draws near, a daunting sight can be seen in the distance. The remains of what was once the centre of this ruined empire glows in the morning light. Notably cognitive processes are operations that influence the content of the brain or the thinking process as well as the remembering operation (Lamberts Goldstone, 2005). Cognitive processes are crucial aspects of human behavior and are concerned with how persons utilize their skills. On the other hand, cognitive neuropsychology is a component of cognitive psychology. Cognitive neuropsychology is directed into comprehending how brain s function and structure are linked to certain psychological processes. More significantly, cognitive neuropsychology studies the damaged brain cognitive effects with the aim of inferring cognitive functioning models. Cognitive neuropsychology is a portion of the extensive research field known as neuroscience. Neuroscience is multidisciplinary perspective that combines numerous means of looking at cognition and human brain (Kaye, 2010). • 23. The Importance Of Setting Goals Through Treatment Planning When a client attends an agency/program for the first time, the attending clinician performs an assessment. The assessment is essential because it allows the clinician to know and understand the clients history. The clinician needs to know what the client is here for, if this is a hereditary trait, how long the client has been dealing with this issue, and etc. After this is performed, the client and clinician will create a treatment plan. In this paper I will discuss the importance of setting goals through treatment planning and how through evidence based practice, one will be able to determine of the client has been reaching their goals. I will be demonstrating this through a client who would be dual diagnosed. What dual diagnosed means is that an individual has both a mental illness and is using substance/alcohol. Dual diagnosed is broad because it can mean that someone can be diagnosed with schizophrenia and alcohol, diagnosed with bipolar and heroin, or diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder and cocaine. It does not matter what their diagnosis and usage is. If the individual is using and has a mental illness, they are considered dual diagnosed also known as Mentally Ill Chemical Abusers (MICA). These two strategies are, the first being direct and to the point and the second is always having the reminder that the world doesn t revolve around me. Strategies I would like to begin using such as encouraging feedback and plans that help build my communicative toolbox. One of the most effective way I communicate with faculty/staff is by being direct and to the point. In whole honesty, people don t need to know every single detail when asking or stating something. The Idea of Li and Governing Essay Li, or rites, has played an integral part in shaping early Chinese philosophy, though not all philosophers have agreed on its meaning or reason for application. Some will argue that human nature requires us to us Li to be ethical beings, while others believe that Li will teach and mold us into beings that will follow the norms of our society. The three major Confucian philosophers whom used the idea of Li to shape their theories were Confucius, Mencius, and Xunzi. There would be no chaos due to lack of basic needs because the everyone in the society was fulfilling their personal role, whether it be to provide food or provide governance. Confucius also put a large emphasis on the Zhou kings of the past, calling them sage kings and praising their ability to keep order through promoting Li to their subjects, which caused peace and security to their fellow man (The Analects, 22). Mencius, a stark follower of Confucius s teachings, viewed Li in a different light. Living in the time called the Warring State Period, Mencius saw the discourse and chaos that Confucius had worked hard to fight against. While rulers fought amongst themselves for power, Mencius sought to find what was the cause of this chaos and what could alleviate it. This was a period of growth for some countries, such as England, and a time of decline for other countries like Spain. These two particular countries, England and Spain, had two very powerful rulers who helped determine the fate of their nations. Phillip II of Spain was born into a very powerful family of extremely Machiavellian heritage. He had control of the Netherlands, Spain, parts of the North and South Americas, and parts of Asia and Brazil. He was also extremely Catholic and loyal to the Catholic Church. Queen Elizabeth I of England inherited a small country divided between Lutherans and Catholics, but she would turn out to be one of the greatest rulers of England in history. These two rulers would go head to head until their deaths, and while England rose up, Spain began to decline. Although Phillip II of Spain was a very Machiavellian ruler, Elizabeth I of England was much more Machiavellian, for Phillip of Spain was not governed by necessity, as Machiavelli advised; he was feared by his subjects, not loved; and Queen Elizabeth I of England was an effective ruler and near perfect example of the Machiavellian Prince. At one point he grew seriously ill, and his sisters Mary Magdalene and Martha contact Jesus, asking him to come and heal his friend. Jesus is unable to come, and Lazarus dies, but when Jesus gets there he raises him from the dead. Out of all of the miracles Jesus performs in the New Testament, raising Lazarus from the dead is by far the most outstanding thing he does. The only other person to raise from the dead is Jesus, and that is after he was crucified. This is a significant story in the stories of both Raskolnikov and Sonia. Sonia and Raskolnikov both need hope in their lives, and the story of Lazarus is all about having hope. Sonia is in need of hope because she is living in such poverty, and anguish. Raskolnikov needs hope because he is being trialed over the murder that he committed, and he needs something to look forward to, in order to pass this tedious time that surrounds him. The possible exchange rate regimes are on a flexibility continuum of exchange rate regimes which Frankel (1999) describes in nine categories from the most rigid (the currency union) to the least (the clean float): 1.The Currency Union: two or more countries share the same currency. If a country abandons its own currency and circulates the anchor currency, it is called the Dollarization. It maintains unlimited convertibility between its currency and the anchor currency. Comparing it the Royal Ballet, their feet are positioned slightly over crossed, positioning their legs over their knee or on their knee rather then beside. Though from personal experience in training in the RAD system, we are told to position our feet at the side of the knee where it is a little hollow. Though this from personal experience can be tough, because it is hard to find that area where there are other things you are concentrating on while dancing. Therefore I still think that positioning the feet at the very side of the knee is a lot easier to maintain, and it also prevents you from over crossing, which in turn makes things look a lot neater. • 37. News Media and the Coverage of Darfur News Media and the Coverage of Darfur Our news media is as celebrity obsessed as the rest of the nation. And why shouldn t it be? The articles and television news coverage of celebrities is going to sell a lot more magazines and draw in a lot more viewers than something depressing and/or hard to understand like a genocide. Let s face it, when people come home from a long, hard day at work, they want to be entertained, not forced to think of the bad things happening in the world. Plus, thanks to a sub par educational system in the United States that teaches to the test and lets important subjects such as geography and social sciences fall by the wayside, many people don t even know where these places are that are experiencing humanitarian crises. They can t be expected to be interested in places of which they have never heard. This, at least, is the common perception among the media today. In 2005, the collective news media channels of this country ran 55 times as many stories about Michael Jackson and his trial for alleged child sexual abuse than they did regarding the genocide going on in Darfur. In fact, MTVu, which is the university station for MTV, did a more thorough job of covering Darfur than any of the major media outlets in the United States. Further, while the news media in other countries, most notably the BBC in Great Britain, do a generally good job of covering important world events (proving it can be done), the news media in the United States tends to ... • 38. How Literary Fiction Teaches Us To Be Human By Tom Blunt Educators have long been arguing that literary education, in school and beyond, is crucial for emotional development. However, until recently, very little evidence existed to scientifically support this idea. In his article, This is How Literary Fiction Teaches Us to Be Human , author Tom Blunt makes a concise but persuasive argument about why literature is essential for human emotional development. In order to effectively prove his point, Blunt cites both scientific and anecdotal evidence and emphasizes the essential nature of empathy, derived from reading literature, to future generations. The first way author Tom Blunt attempts to prove his point about literature is through scientific studies. In one study he describes, researchers found that reading literary fiction led to better results in subjects tested for Theory of Mind , a budding field that explores the scientific basis for empathy. Another study he quotes states that participants who had read the fictional story Saffron Dreams by Shailah ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although an individual may not believe becoming an organ donor can have an effect on a person s life, they are tragically mistaken. For instance, if an individual believed they would receive a lesser amount of medical attention and decided not to become an organ donor, then one day contracted a life threatening medical problem and passed away because of it even though they received the normal amount of medical attention, their organs would then be of no use because they never gave permission for their organs to be donated to those individuals who needed them. Faulkner subtly reveals her pity and regret towards Emily through the portrayal of the toxic relationship she has with Homer. Hemingway depicts the harsh war with sensory but blunt details. His expression of words has an emotional appeal on the reader, allowing his or her to put themselves in the shoes of any character. For example, on page 73 Hemingway writes, There was sunlight coming through the shutters. I saw the big armoire, the bare walls, and two chairs. Hemingway includes important quotes throughout the novel. On page 26, Miss Barkley starts, You did say you loved me, didn t you? and Henry replies, Yes, I lied, I love you. I had not said it before. (900)The Home Care Solution and Outpatient Family Therapy for the Treatment of the Mentally Disabled This psychological analysis will define the necessity of home care for mentally disabled persons for long term term treatment and family based outpatient treatment for the individual. The historical examples of Bethlem Hospital and Charcot s Pitié Salpêtrière Hospital define the abuses and freak show environment that did very little to house, treat, and car for the mentally disabled through large scale institutional care. In fact, the neglect and mismanagement of these institutions set a negative precedent for treating the mentally disabled as prisoners or social deviants from the late 17th century to the 20th century. This study will argue in favor of a family based home care solution for housing the mentally disabled, which will be accented by psychiatric and therapeutic evaluations and treatments for the individual outside of large scale institutions. In essence, the historical neglect of major psychological institutions defines the important necessity of home care and outpatient treatment for the mentally disabled in the 21st century. One of the major problems of mental health institutions is the abuse that many patients endured due to the historical problem of mental illness as a threat to society.
