Intrinsic And Extrinsic Motivation
An organization may have any number of goals, for example, sales growth, market leadership, profit
maximization and customer satisfaction. It is clear that an organization will only be successful if
employees are performing their tasks at a consistently high level and in line with the company s
objectives. To achieve this, organizations have tended to reward employees who demonstrate this high
level of performance and behavior (Gatenby et al., 2008). These rewards may be intrinsic and/or
extrinsic. Many theorists have critically discussed the core aspects of employee motivation,
concluding that intrinsic and extrinsic rewards will only be motivating if these are of value to the
individual. Intrinsic motivation lies in the internal satisfaction of an individual concerning only the
enjoyment of the task itself. Whereas extrinsic motivation focuses on external outcomes, in particular
financial rewards (Psycnet.apa.org, 2017). In this essay rewards will be regarded as tangible or
intangible assets in response to an individual s achievement (Oxford Dictionaries⎪English, 2017), and
motivation will focus on the behavioral aspects of why an individual s productivity and performance
increases.
The extent to which an individual values a certain reward is entirely dependent on their personal
preferences and circumstances, as well as the composition of the task. When the reward received is the
reward most valued, motivation could increase only to the point where a competitive

The Physics Of Atomic Theory
Science would not be where it is today if not for those who have devoted a great deal of their life to
making new discoveries and figuring different aspects of the universe. Over 30 different scientists
have added on the development of atomic theory, and made science changing discoveries that are still
today quite impressive, even in comparison to modern day scientists. There are countless scientists
involved in the evolution of atomic theory, but less than 50 have majorly impacted the way we view
atomic theory today.
Discovery and experimentation on the atom first began in the Greek Era with scientists as old as
Democritus and Aristotle. Democritus was believed to be the first person to touch on the atomic
theory. He stated that he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also published a table of atomic weights. In 1869, Dmitri Mendeleev created one of the most
important tables in the history atomic development. He arranged the atoms into 7 groups with similar
properties, and published his first periodic table of elements. Not only did it organize things
tremendously, but also allowed Mendeleev to predict new elements. After him in 1873, came James
Clerk Maxwell who proposed that electric and magnetic fields filled the void. Six years later in 1879,
Sir William Crookes made an enormous discovery... He studies the effects of sending and electric
current through a gas in a sealed tube. This electrode was called a cathode and the particles were
cathode rays. He discovered that cathode rays travel in straight lines from the cathode; cause glass to
fluoresce; are deflected by electric fields and magnets to suggest a possible negative charge; cause
pinwheels in their path to spin showing they have mass. In 1896 while studying the effect of x rays on
photographic film, Henri Becquerel discovered some chemicals spontaneously decompose and give
off very penetrating rays. He exposed potassium uranyl sulfate to sunlight, believing that uranium
absorbed the sun s energy and emitted it as x rays. This hypothesis was considered to be a failure
because it was overcast in Paris, however Becquerel developed his plates anyways and the images
were still clear! This proved

Cause And Effects Of The Flopped Crusades
The Flopped Crusade The Crusaders were created by Pope Innocent III in 1889. The Crusaders fought
against Christian blood, just to have more money. The Crusaders were not even in it for religious
purposes. The Crusaders failed to support enough troops, and made a decision to either stick with the
Christians, their own religion, or to ditch their religion and all of its beliefs. In the end, Alexius III, the
person who was going to give the Crusaders the money, did not have any and the Crusaders ended up
not getting any money, but sacking Constantinople. The fourth Crusade was one of the most
unsuccessful events in history. The Crusaders made lots of wrong choices. According to catholic.com,
They did not have the money to pay the Venetians and Dandolo s offer proved problematic, as Zara
was controlled by King Emeric of Hungary, who had previously taken the Cross; therefore, his lands
were protected by the Church, and attacking a Crusader s land resulted in excommunication
(Weidenkopf). The Crusaders chose to be excommunicated over being Christian with a debt they had
to pay off and were acting like peasants. They would take any deal they saw and thought that the
dealers would not scam or rip them off. They were little pawns for the dealer to mess with. They were
not even given the money in the end. The Crusaders were just manipulated the Crusaders to do the
dirty work for Dandolo. Another wrong choice they made was disobeying the letters from the pope.

Industrial Hemp Should be Legal Essay
Just the mention of the word Cannabis in today s society brings about all types of negative
connotations. This is understandable due to the major propaganda campaign that has been waged by
the U.S. government on the plant. Most citizens have no idea what a mature Cannabis plant looks like,
and close to none recognize the thousands of uses it has. This is paper will not discuss whether drug
type Cannabis should be legalized for recreational or medicinal purposes, what it will discuss is the
many environmentally friendly products that can be made from non psychoactive hemp. The

One major issue with Industrial Hemp is its use for BioMass fuel. Believe it or not, but the energy that
Cannabis stores during its growth can be converted into fuel after harvest. Many plants can be used to
make BioMass fuel, yet Cannabis is the top candidate for its supply due to it s abundance of cellulose
and ease of harvesting it. BioMass fuel can be used for absolutely any form of energy, be it fuel to
power an engine (car) or to generate electricity. BioMass fuel burns cleaner than petrochemical fuels.
Paper made from hemp is superior to wood pulp paper in every facet. First, and most importantly,
Cannabis is grown in a field and is planted and harvested in the same year. Forests that are cut down

process that has many toxic byproducts. Cannabis paper requires no bleaching due to its naturally
creamy color. Hemp paper is stronger, lasts longer, and holds ink better than wood pulp paper. Hemp

Volunteering At The Mary Manning Walsh Nursing Home Essay
Volunteering at the Mary Manning Walsh Nursing Home over the summer was an invaluable
experience. As I became more comfortable, I began extending my duties beyond physical tasks such
as serving food or transporting residents. I started interacting with the residents on a more personal
level, not as a volunteer, but more as a friend. In return, the residents became increasingly open, and
the nurses watched as I conversed with residents they had deemed as reserved. Sometimes when I
helped residents they would say nothing, but at the same time they said everything I needed to hear. I
probably appreciated helping those residents, more than they appreciated me. Every night when I went
to bed, I felt I had actually made a difference. This volunteering experience allowed me to realize that
whatever I do in life, I want to go to sleep feeling the same way I did that summer. In a world filled
with problems, why be an observer? I approach life with this mentality and for that reason am enticed
by the problem solving and critical thinking abilities that engineers possess. More specifically, I am
drawn towards bioengineering due to the influence that this area of study has on the medical field, and
on the overall quality of life and health for humans. While the study of medicine can provide the
ability to treat individuals, bioengineering can have a more universal impact, providing the ability to
treat thousands with innovative medical technology. As a student who greatly values

Improving The Work Force Of Apprenticeships
Improving the Work Force Apprenticeships are the next best thing in the work world. Robert I.

Robert I. Lerman is in favor of using apprenticeships in today s workforce for millions of Americans.
He uses rhetorical analysis to appeal to the readers. The first one is pathos which is using feelings,
desires, or fears to influence readers. A large scale apprenticeships system will help the United States
deal with several chronic problems. They include disengagement among high school students;
stagnant wages among those without a bachelor s degree; declining participation among men in the
workforce; and skill shortages in a range of occupations (Lerman 857). Apprenticeships will help the
world with the problem of people not being qualified when the start their job. If people do
apprenticeships in high school and college, they will be more qualified for the job and will succeed
more than their coworkers if they do a work study program. The second one he uses is logos which is

Positive Behavioral Intervention In Schools
It is exceedingly important for schools to ensure a balanced and stable environment that provides
safety, well being, and acceptance to all students. In order to do this, as well as generate a positive
communal learning atmosphere that empowers the entire student body of the school and the individual
classroom, there needs to be a school wide positive behavioral intervention and support (PBIS) system
implemented. The defined explanation of PBIS is a framework for enhancing the adoption and
implementation of a continuum of evidence based interventions to achieve academically and
behaviorally important outcomes for all student (Sugai and Simonsen, 2012). The goal of a PBIS

In order to do this, there needs to be a system established that collects data through detecting and
monitoring individual, as well as situational, behavioral issues (Marzano, R., Marzano, J., Pickering,
2003, pg.112); these may be a recurring, or severe, behavioral problems that happen in the school s
hallways, cafeteria, or on school grounds. To help in gathering this information the school can
establish different charts and individual folders for each student. For example, a chart for behavioral
referrals may be used to identify the student, the date, the teacher involved, the reason for
involvement, and the student s consequence (Marzano, R. J., Association for Supervision and
Curriculum, D., 2005, pg. 164). Another chart that can be useful and successful monitors individual
student behaviors; this report will give data on a singular student, and it contains the date of incidents,
the teacher involved, the behavioral offense, and the consequence given (Marzano, R. J., Association
for Supervision and Curriculum, D., 2005, pg. 165). This graph gives similar data to the behavioral
referrals; however, it is more specific aiming detection on one student, not the entire grade or class
level. The safety and disciplinary team

Brief Description Of Public Policy
Part A: Brief description of public policy
Policy refers to a distinct path of action that is suitable for the pursuit of desired goals within a
particular context, directing the decision making or behavior of an organization or individual. There
are three key elements of policies: problem definition, goals to be achieved, and policy instruments to
address the problem and achieve the goal. The policy process is an activity of balancing different
solutions that address aspects of complex problems: the policymaking is typically described as messy
(CITE). Important components of the policy process include identification of a policy problem along
with framing the problem for solutions (also known as policy formulation), implementation of policy
strategies, and establishing outcomes for evaluation of policy effectiveness.
Policies come from those who have legitimate authority to impose normative guidelines for action
(i.e., elected officials). Formulation of health related policies is complex and depends on a variety of
scientific, economic, social, and political forces. As a result, there is a considerable gap between what
public health research shows is effective and the policies that are enacted and enforced (Brownson,
Chriqui, Stamatakis, 2009).
Non elected officials (i.e., practitioners) are generally required to implement the policy through
programs (i.e., interventions). There are many barriers to effective policy implementation. For
example, insufficient

another stage that this investigation is combined with is the fully developed stage it occurs when the

Compare And Contrast Chesapeake And New England
The 17th century saw the foundation and expansion of nearly all of Britain s colonies on the Atlantic
seaboard. This time saw the development of two distinct regions in this New World: the northern New
England and the southern Chesapeake Bay region. Both regions attempted to recreate some aspects of
English economy, society, and religion in their settlements, but they only did so to the extent which
they felt fit for their new way of life. As such, the Chesapeake and New England regions, in the 17th
century, developed similarities through their English heritage, but distinct differences as they pursued
different goals and adapted to the specific demands of their unique environment. Both regions

easier. Their Puritan background also proved helpful in the propagation of literacy because of their
emphasis on being able to read the Bible. School was so integral to the early New England experience
that the Massachusetts Bay Colony enacted the Old Deluder Satan act (1647) which required towns

THE FIRST BATTLE OF BULL RUN
BY COLLINS MCKAY
On July 21, 1861, two armies, one confederate and the other Union, prepared for the first major land
battle of the Civil War. In 1861 Abraham Lincoln was sworn in as President.
The Southern states had seceded and the South had fired on and captured Fort Sumter on April 12
1861.
After the Fort Sumter battle, both the North and the South began preparing for war by raising armies.
This was done quickly and neither side spent much time training the troops. Both sides also did not
know what a long and terrible war was ahead.

General McDonnell attempted to flank the Confederates by moving north and west, and began several
attacks on the Confederates right flank and the center of the Confederate line at Henry House.
As the battle wore on, the superior numbers of the Union Army began to wear down the Confederate
lines. At a critical point, as the Confederates began to fall back, an officer pointed out a line of rebels
who were still strong. He said, look at Jackson s men standing like a stone wall . He was talking about
General T. J. Jackson s men. Jackson would from then on be known as Stonewall Jackson , one of the
most famous of all Confederate generals. This seemed to inspire the Southern troops at Henry House
who held their ground and began to beat back the Union forces.
On the west flank the Union troops who had been moving slowly were pushed back by General
Johnston s troops who arrived in the afternoon by railroad. Civilian spectators had come out from
Washington to watch the battle. They thought it would be like a sporting event. As the battle turned
against the North, they panicked and the one road back to Washington became clogged with
overturned carriages and wagons. The Union retreat had turned into panic by early evening.
In the end, the North had suffered 2,896 men killed wounded or missing; the South had lost 1,982. The

Essay On Canada s Transportation System
Canada s Transportation System.
Transportation is the movement of people, animals and goods from one location to another.
Transportation is the system of road transportation, rail transportation, marine transportation and air
transportation.
Transportation always played an important role in the history of Canada because of building the
railway system many provinces such as British Columbia and Prince Edward Island agreed to join
Confederation. The first Canada s railway line was built in 1836 and the first railway system was
completed and opened in 1885. November 8, 1885, the first rail train traveled across Canada from sea
to sea. There were the first steps of transportation s history of Canada.
Transportation is an essential component of the Canadian economy. The transportation s system makes
possible to Canada to trade and develop local and international businesses. Canadians like to think of
themselves as residents of an autonomous nation, but increasingly, local and national politics are
dictated by the global shipping network. Without foreign buyers of raw materials like softwood and
oil, Canada would be a much poorer place. Shelves would go bare and the economy ... Show more

economy, which was starting to show recovery from the French colonial control. Back in the late
1940s, American involvement in Vietnam was driven by the Cold War, in an effort to contain
communism, as expressed by the Domino Theory. America s military invasion into Vietnam came in
the 1960s, in an effort to protect the Southern region from the invasion of the communist North
authority. Nevertheless American troops were being overpowered by a peasant Vietnam army who had

What is a recession? A recession is declared once the GDP is negative for two consecutive quarters or
more, a few quarters before is actually the start of an economic downturn. GDP is defined as gross
domestic product and that basically means the total value of goods the United States has produced, for
the year. The first few signs of a recession are negative growth followed by a miniature positive
growth. Because American citizens don t have the money to spend they don t spend and the consumer
spending aspect of the economy takes a drastic downfall. Unemployment rates also have play in
determining a recession (22). Proper money management and finances could bring an economy out of

Then depending on the person they could take years to pay off that one bill out of the other 20 that
they have. So what I am saying here is that if many people do this then, the economy will inflate,
causing the value of money to go down prices to go up and so on and so forth.
One of the hardest and most difficult economic recessions in history was accomplished using
Keynesian economics by John Fredrick Kennedy. Keynesian economics is a theory of total spending
in the economy (called aggregate demand) and its effects on output and inflation. Although the term
has been used (and abused) to describe many things over the years there is six principal systems or
beliefs that are what a Keynesian believes. (20) A Keynesian believes that total demand is inclined by
a swarm of financial decisions public and private. The public decisions include, financial and
economic policies. Nearly all Keynesians and monetarists believe that both financial and economic
policies affect total demand. Secondly changes in total demand have their affect on output and on
employment not on prices. Keynesians believe that it must get worse for it to get better. Also they
believe that we live in the short run of things not in the long run. Keynes s famous statement, In the
long run, we are all dead. Thirdly Keynesians believe that prices, and more

Importance Of Community Service In Education
This semester I engaged in many different community service and civic engagement activities. The
activity that I did the most frequently would be volunteering in a special needs class room at Vandever
Elementary in Broken Arrow. I went to Broken Arrow Public School and actually know that teacher
that I volunteering with from when I used to peer tutor when I was younger. I peer tutored from 3rd
grade through 10th grade, switching between three main classrooms. It was so nice to see one of the
teachers that I looked up so much to when I was younger and who instilled in me the joys of teaching.
Volunteering in her classroom was very fun and nostalgic, but I do think that she could have been
more proactive with her time management skills. While volunteering in the classroom, I became very
familiar with the classroom s daily schedule and their routines. I found that there was quite a bit of
time wasted in the afternoon. I was not entirely sure if maybe this had to do with her students and their
limits because most of them are only a half day or if it was poor time management. Although, I think
the schedule could easily be accommodated to include more instructional time if the students in the
classroom were able to adjust to that. In the afternoon they spend a majority of their instructional time
watching Paw Patrol, Peppa Pig, or Bookflix. I feel like if they divided their time as well they did in
the morning they could get in a lot more instructional time. In the mornings

Chiari Malformation Research Paper
There are 4 different types of Chiari malformations. Type 1 is the most common and occurs when the
cerebellar tonsil is found below the forman magnum; usually affecting older children or adults and is
the only type of malformation that can be acquired. Type II involves both the brainstem and
cerebellum below the forman magnum, this type is usually associated with other diseases such as
spina bifida and myelomeningocele. This is usually found in children and this type is responsible for
the name Arnold Chiari malformation. Type III is the most severe it results in the cerebellum and the
brain stem producing a pouch like structure that protrudes from the back of the head and upper neck.
This pouch contains brain matter and causes severe neurological deficits. Finally, Type IV is
extremely uncommon and involves the complete underdevelopment of the cerebellum ( Different ,
n.d.).
There are several causes that can be associated with a Chiari malformation. Some of those causes are
associates with a structural defect of the spinal cord during fetal development, injury, or even a lack of

I want to start by addressing the topic of productivity. John Muir claims one of the reasons for my
termination was due to a significant lack of productivity, yet doesn t have evidence to support that
claim. It s impossible to falsify productivity due to weekly audits conducted by supervisors, which I
review and sign.
Enclosed are my productivity records submitted by Ann Marie Hartmann which proves the
information on the termination letter was altered and fabricated to intentionally misrepresent the
amount of work I completed.
In addition to weekly audits, the Epic program John Muir uses for patient charting, records (with a
time stamp) everything I do within the account. There s records of every account I worked and

For instance, when asked to clarify how many interruptions I had per day, I declared each day was
different. Some days there were quite a few and other days not too many.
Interruptions depended on things like how many patients put valuables in the safe, or how many
employees collected payments that day, or if patients came in with billing questions, or whether the
gift shop and cafeteria needed change or needed to make deposits, and so forth. Secondly, I would like
to discuss the issue of accessing work from home. John Muir has record of a work ticket and
documentation showing that IT installed the program on my home computer which granted me access.
At no point was I ever told not to access work from home or talked to regarding my access from
home. In fact, the opposite was true. When IT installed the program on my home computer around the
beginning of March, IT stated this was the new system where all employees were going to be required
to use in order to access John Muir s system from home. Employees access John Muir s system for
multiple reasons such as, paystubs, W 2 forms, email, learning points, and so on. IT stated I could
access Epic (patient charting) and many employees have already started using this program. Enclosed

`` Hills Like White Elephants `` By Ernest Hemingway
In his short story Hills like White Elephants, Ernest Hemingway uses symbolism and landscape subtly
but effectively to emphasize the tension between the main characters. The reader is asked to
extrapolate much of the information in an indirect fashion. The reader must look into the symbolism
and imagery used alongside the words the characters share and don t share. The natural landscape
covers almost the entire story, offering vivid images that contain a large amount of interpretive insight
into the story. The setting puts the couple at a crossroads, a stopping place in their journey through not
just Spain, but through their lives as well. Though the exact location of the train station is not given, it
is often thought to be in Zaragoza, Spain. The train station is a midpoint between their past time
together and the future time that they will move toward when they leave on a train. Train stations,
airports, bus stations, and ports give us a sense of transition, of being between worlds, and between
experiences. Placing the stage for the drama in such a locale really grabs the reader s attention and
drives further symbolism in the story. Joseph Urgo points this out in his writing quite well by stating
the junction where the train will stop in the story is not just the meeting of the Barcelona and Madrid
lines, but the clash of male and female sources of power and authority. (Urgo 36)
Hemingway stresses a few main elements of the story s setting. The oppressive heat,

Segregation In A Soldier s Play By Charles Fuller
A Soldier s Play by Charles Fuller which is set during 1944 on a segregated US Army Base called Fort

way to solving the murder must go through numerous obstacles including racism. The damage caused
by segregation makes brother despise another, makes empathy an impossibility, and blocks off the
ability to be cognizant of each other struggles.
Furthermore, the damage caused by the segregation of makes the same race, brothers in the same

hatred for other people in the same battle, that are fighting for a common goal. Segregation brings on
the worst characteristics that stereotypes people in category. Making individuals to be susceptible to

Essay On God And Providence In The Canterbury Tales By...
According to Chaucer all literature must have sentence and solace , it must delight and instruct its
readers. Chaucer explores the roles of God and Providence in relation to Boethian consolation within
the Knight s tale. This essay will describe Chaucer s use of parallel structural elements, in relation to
human and celestial characters. The human characters at the center of the conflict are Palamon and
Arcite, and the object of their disagreement is the fair lady Emely. The final character, Thesus acts as
the moving character in the poem, driving the actions of the tale. This character structure is balanced
by four parallel celestial characters. Palamon balanced by Venus, Emely by Diana, Arcite by Mars,
and Thesus by Saturn.
As the opening tale of The Canterbury Tales, the Knight s tale lays the foundation of heroic love and
chivalry, themes that are later challenged by subsequent tales. The tale centers about two loyal
cousins, Palamon and Arcite. These two young men have been captured during battle and are being
held by Thesus in a tower. While noble Palamon was risen and romed in a chamber on heigh (Chaucer
207) he looks out and sees the mysterious Emely wonder around a garden. Immediately infatuated
with her beauty he cries aloud as though he strongen were unto the herte (221). This relates the

Communication Theories And Concepts Of The Film Outsourced
When talking about communication, it is essential to understand what this term really means. There
are many different definitions pertaining to this word, but none of them can be considered right or
wrong. On the other hand, Samovar and Porter suggested one of the most basic and influential
definitions: communication is the ability to share our ideas and feelings (Samovar and Porter, 1995, p.
27). Mr. Todd s journey in the film Outsourced greatly reflects on a wide variety of communication
theories and concepts, as well as my personal experience in the same country, India. When referring to
communication, it is fundamental to grasp The Shannon and Weaver Model that was invented in 1947.
This is basically an exemplary of a few stages in which the information source called sender, sends the
information to its destination, the receiver. Information obviously does not get to the receiver
magically; this is why this model was invented. It is a way to illustrate how a person shares beliefs and
ideas, and how they reach their destination. For example, at the beginning of the movie Outsourced,
the employee called Todd Anderson asks his boss named Dave: Is this gonna take a while? when he
was called to privately speak inside his office (Jeffcoat, 2006, 1:26). In this case, the sender is Dave
who sends the information through a place called channel, which then gets decoded before reaching its
destination, Todd. On the other hand, it is also important to underline the fact that

The Link Between An F Oversupply And Cdr
To analyze the link between an F oversupply and CDR, in situ analyses were conducted in a 400 km²
area near Kaduna City, Nigeria (see Fig. 2 1), where endemic cases of active CDR have been reported
since the early 2000s, with a prevalence rate of 5.0% (HVCF 2010). Epidemiological studies in
this area revealed that compared to a control group of peers who live in the same region, the cases
show a lack of Ca in the blood (1.90 vs. 2.19 mmol L 1) as well as significantly higher 1.25(OH)2D
serum levels (442 vs. 347 pmol L 1). The 25(OH)D levels are normal within both groups (46 vs. 57
nmol L 1), which overall is a typical sign for CDR and not for vitamin D deficiency rickets. Although
no clinical signs of either dental or skeletal fluorosis were found in any of the CDR affected children,
biochemical measurements on the F concentrations in the serum of the CDR affected children in the
Kaduna area are still missing, and as a result, an underlying fluorosis disease cannot entirely be
excluded (Emmert 2010). The study area is located in the north central of Nigeria, where the
climate is affected by the annual shift of the Intertropical Convergence Zone. The mean annual
precipitation rate in this area amounts to 1300 mm, and the average annual temperature is 25.6 °C
(Wall 1979). The natural vegetation is the savanna trees and grasslands of the northern guinea
savanna, which nowadays has mostly been deforested in favor of agricultural use (Blair Rains et al.
1977).

Mapp vs Ohio Essay
On May 23rd 1957, three police officers representing Cleveland Ohio came to the door of Miss Mapp
s residence with the suspicion of a bombing suspect hiding out in her home. Miss Mapp and her
daughter lived in a two family two story home. Upon their arrival at the house the police knocked on
the door and demanded entrance from Miss Mapp. However Miss Mapp didn t open the door and
instead asked them to provide a search warrant after she called her attorney. The officers advised their
headquarters of the situation and established surveillance of the home over the next few hours. The
officers once again sought entrance three hours later when they forced open one of the doors to the
home and went inside. It was around this time that miss ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ohio at the time, being lewd and lascivious material, Mapp was arrested and charged with having
obscene materials. In the first trial she was given, the prosecution did not provide the search warrant
that was used. The prosecution also failed to state why the warrant was not submitted, In fact the
prosecution avoided the subject almost entirely. There was a reasonable belief that there was never a
search warrant made in the first place, However the courts convicted her guilty anyways, on the
grounds that she had broken the law whether the evidence was legally seized or illegally seized. The
court also determined that the evidence had not been taken from the defendant s person by use of
brutal force against the defendant. They also stated that there was no law in the state of Ohio that
prevented the use of illegally seized evidence, which was also stated in wolf v Colorado, In which the
court held that in a prosecution in a state for a state crime the fourteenth amendment doesn t prevent
the use of evidence obtained by an illegal search and seizure. She was then sentenced to a women s
reformatory for a year, where she began to make her appeal to the Supreme Court. The case was
argued in front of the Supreme Court on March 29 1961. Miss Mapp s attorney A.L.

20 000 Leagues Under The Sea Research Paper
In 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne, three men are captured by a captain the forces them
on an underwater adventure. Captain Nemo uses his advanced technology and thinking to run away
from society. The underwater coal mine and how he used it was very helpful to not have to get in
contact with humans. Coal is most thought of as a land resource, and because he can get it underwater
he doesn t have to get it from land. Back in the 1860s the ocean was not a very discovered place, so
Nemo could go there without being discovered. Nemo says on page 311, Thereby making me

Another technological advancement Nemo uses to get as far away from people is the SCUBA suit.
Nemo can use it to hunt underwater. Also, you never hear Arronax describing the suit as
incommodious. You can see it is very unknown on page 126 On foot? Without your feet even getting
wet. may seem simple to us, but when the book was written, it was very new and even fictional!
Finally, The most recurring piece of technology Nemo uses is his submarine, the Nautilus. The
Nautilus protects Nemo from outside people that may want to get in and limits his contact with
humans. It is a submarine, which is totally new and not many people go to the depth it does. Also, the
electricity in the hatches shoots people backwards even if they do get on top. on page 192 it says, ...

The Media And The Issue Of Illegal Immigration
Paper #1: Discuss how the different media outlets frame the issue of illegal immigration?
It is commonly known that media coverage of anything controversial can be faulty, and biased. ABC
News and CCN News could cover the same story, in different ways. This is amplified in cases that
affect different audiences (as in age, race, financial class), because certain stations are aimed towards a
certain audience. A great example of this is FOX and FOX Latino. The two stations, though sister
stations, have very different approaches on certain topics, one being illegal immigration. FOX tends to
be very biased, while FOX Latino gives direct facts.
Most people would assume that FOX and FOX Latino, sister stations, would have rather similar ...

They covered the controversy very differently. FOX Latino has an audience that is concerned about
this problem of illegal immigration, and the problems the immigrants themselves are having. This is
obvious by looking at the articles they have.
These articles and news clips gives statistics of the hardships that the immigrants are facing, and
discuss solutions to said difficulties. For example, On September 22nd, 2015 they posted an article
titled Number of immigrant families, children arrested at border jumps more than 50%. Unlike some
of their previous articles (IE What Happens to US Born Kids of Deported Undocumented
Immigrants?) which was very involved and emotional, this one is rather detached. However, it does
discuss theories on why this is a continuing problem, and why it changes throughout the year. FOX
Latino is there to give information on illegal immigration, possible solutions, etc. They give the
unbiased facts.
FOX news has very different coverage on the subject. They are clearly fixated on discussing the
problems that illegal immigration causes to them (middle class (white) America). For example, on
September 14th, 2015 FOX reporter Kimberly Guilfoyle went viral for allegedly comparing
immigrants to a brain tumor. In the next few days (September 16th, 2015) they publish an article
Elusive crime wave data shows frightening toll of illegal immigrant criminals. This article was very

Literary Analysis Of Snakes By Danielle Evans
Using Setting to Reveal Character s Isolation: Literary Analysis of Danielle Evans Snakes In the book
collection Before You Suffocate Your Own Fool Self, author Danielle Evans suggests that the issue of
race and how it affects families is still relevant in today s society in a particular piece known as
Snakes. Evans, an American writer, and educator set up the story Snakes to where the setting is
constantly changing, which is reflective of the character changing as a whole. Evans suggests that at
the beginning of this story, relationships between characters is shown through the layout of the setting.

For example, [...] there had been no push, no one s hands on [her] back simulates what many readers
may feel, confusion and allows them to come to the conclusion that Tara represents deceit (63). The
different settings Evans presents throughout the story exhibit how all characters will feel this deceit
brought upon them from one character, Tara. Tara holds in this information from others, causing them
to be at fault in the end. According to an edited version of Deception, by Robert W. Mitchell and
Nicholas S. Thompson, deceit is hard to understand when looking into the situation; however,
understanding the child s knowledge, or motivation is essential. Tara has a motive behind hiding the
facts of what truly happened the night of her fall, and that, in the viewer s eye can be to be recognized
by her family and friends finally. In the end, standing out and being herself is significant for Tara, as
[she] remembered quite clearly [...] there had been nothing but [her], looking down at [her] own
reflection, and seeing, at last, a way toward what [she] wanted most (63). Tara wanted a way out and
jumping appeared to be a quick resolution. Never knowing what is meant by this ending, readers may
question if the little girl is finally escaping reality, and or rather it was her seeing herself just like
everyone else, equal at last. The setting, in the end, represents the amount of deceit Tara portrays
without anyone realizing; however, Tara will finally be at

Essay on Exercise of Authority in Measure for Measure
At the outset, we find the Duke transferring his power and authority to Angelo. He lends to Angelo his
own terror and dresses Angelo with his love, giving his deputation all the organs of his own power .
He says that from now on mortality and mercy in Vienna would live in Angelo s tongue and heart. The
Duke motive in appointing Angelo to function in his stead is, as he tells Friar Thomas, to rid the
country of the evils which have taken strong roots and which, he thinks, he himself cannot eradicate
because of his reputation as a very lenient man. Now the question is how far the Duke is justified in
appointing a substitute to rule the kingdom and reform the corrupt Vienna society. We do not think
that the Duke is justified in taking such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of course, Angelo does not realize the futility of the step which he is taking because he thinks that,
merely by banning prostitution, he would be able to put an end to this evil. Pimping and prostitution
are evils which can never be eradicated through legislation, just as the evil of alcoholism and drug
taking cannot be ended by means of legislation. Evidently, Angelo believes in employing drastic
methods to eradicate evil. His belief in drastic methods of reform is particularly seen in his sentencing
Claudio to death on a charge of fornication. Now, there is no doubt at all that Claudio is guilty of a
serious moral lapse in having made a girl pregnant without having first married her. But there are
certain extenuating circumstances in Claudio s case; and Angelo errs in not taking into consideration
those extenuating circumstances. Angelo has revived certain laws which had remained in disuse for
several years, and he now proceeds to apply those laws in their full rigour. In other words, he takes a
literal and legalistic attitude towards the law (Marsh 141). He does not realize that the sentence of
death against a fornicator is too severe and that the law, which he has revived, needs to be amended.
He blindly applies the law to Claudio s case, thus showing a lack of realism. He is here undoubtedly

  • 3. Intrinsic And Extrinsic Motivation An organization may have any number of goals, for example, sales growth, market leadership, profit maximization and customer satisfaction. It is clear that an organization will only be successful if employees are performing their tasks at a consistently high level and in line with the company s objectives. To achieve this, organizations have tended to reward employees who demonstrate this high level of performance and behavior (Gatenby et al., 2008). These rewards may be intrinsic and/or extrinsic. Many theorists have critically discussed the core aspects of employee motivation, concluding that intrinsic and extrinsic rewards will only be motivating if these are of value to the individual. Intrinsic motivation lies in the internal satisfaction of an individual concerning only the enjoyment of the task itself. Whereas extrinsic motivation focuses on external outcomes, in particular financial rewards (Psycnet.apa.org, 2017). In this essay rewards will be regarded as tangible or intangible assets in response to an individual s achievement (Oxford Dictionaries⎪English, 2017), and motivation will focus on the behavioral aspects of why an individual s productivity and performance increases. The extent to which an individual values a certain reward is entirely dependent on their personal preferences and circumstances, as well as the composition of the task. When the reward received is the reward most valued, motivation could increase only to the point where a competitive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Physics Of Atomic Theory Science would not be where it is today if not for those who have devoted a great deal of their life to making new discoveries and figuring different aspects of the universe. Over 30 different scientists have added on the development of atomic theory, and made science changing discoveries that are still today quite impressive, even in comparison to modern day scientists. There are countless scientists involved in the evolution of atomic theory, but less than 50 have majorly impacted the way we view atomic theory today. Discovery and experimentation on the atom first began in the Greek Era with scientists as old as Democritus and Aristotle. Democritus was believed to be the first person to touch on the atomic theory. He stated that he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also published a table of atomic weights. In 1869, Dmitri Mendeleev created one of the most important tables in the history atomic development. He arranged the atoms into 7 groups with similar properties, and published his first periodic table of elements. Not only did it organize things tremendously, but also allowed Mendeleev to predict new elements. After him in 1873, came James Clerk Maxwell who proposed that electric and magnetic fields filled the void. Six years later in 1879, Sir William Crookes made an enormous discovery... He studies the effects of sending and electric current through a gas in a sealed tube. This electrode was called a cathode and the particles were cathode rays. He discovered that cathode rays travel in straight lines from the cathode; cause glass to fluoresce; are deflected by electric fields and magnets to suggest a possible negative charge; cause pinwheels in their path to spin showing they have mass. In 1896 while studying the effect of x rays on photographic film, Henri Becquerel discovered some chemicals spontaneously decompose and give off very penetrating rays. He exposed potassium uranyl sulfate to sunlight, believing that uranium absorbed the sun s energy and emitted it as x rays. This hypothesis was considered to be a failure because it was overcast in Paris, however Becquerel developed his plates anyways and the images were still clear! This proved ... • 5. Cause And Effects Of The Flopped Crusades The Flopped Crusade The Crusaders were created by Pope Innocent III in 1889. The Crusaders fought against Christian blood, just to have more money. The Crusaders were not even in it for religious purposes. The Crusaders failed to support enough troops, and made a decision to either stick with the Christians, their own religion, or to ditch their religion and all of its beliefs. In the end, Alexius III, the person who was going to give the Crusaders the money, did not have any and the Crusaders ended up not getting any money, but sacking Constantinople. The fourth Crusade was one of the most unsuccessful events in history. The Crusaders made lots of wrong choices. According to catholic.com, They did not have the money to pay the Venetians and Dandolo s offer proved problematic, as Zara was controlled by King Emeric of Hungary, who had previously taken the Cross; therefore, his lands were protected by the Church, and attacking a Crusader s land resulted in excommunication (Weidenkopf). The Crusaders chose to be excommunicated over being Christian with a debt they had to pay off and were acting like peasants. They would take any deal they saw and thought that the dealers would not scam or rip them off. They were little pawns for the dealer to mess with. They were not even given the money in the end. The Crusaders were just manipulated the Crusaders to do the dirty work for Dandolo. Another wrong choice they made was disobeying the letters from the pope. According to ... • 7. Industrial Hemp Should be Legal Essay Just the mention of the word Cannabis in today s society brings about all types of negative connotations. This is understandable due to the major propaganda campaign that has been waged by the U.S. government on the plant. Most citizens have no idea what a mature Cannabis plant looks like, and close to none recognize the thousands of uses it has. This is paper will not discuss whether drug type Cannabis should be legalized for recreational or medicinal purposes, what it will discuss is the many environmentally friendly products that can be made from non psychoactive hemp. Believe it or not, but the energy that Cannabis stores during its growth can be converted into fuel after harvest. Many plants can be used to make BioMass fuel, yet Cannabis is the top candidate for its supply due to it s abundance of cellulose and ease of harvesting it. BioMass fuel can be used for absolutely any form of energy, be it fuel to power an engine (car) or to generate electricity. BioMass fuel burns cleaner than petrochemical fuels. Paper made from hemp is superior to wood pulp paper in every facet. First, and most importantly, Cannabis is grown in a field and is planted and harvested in the same year. Forests that are cut down for paper destroy natural habitat that take many years to grow. Wood pulp paper is bleached in a process that has many toxic byproducts. Cannabis paper requires no bleaching due to its naturally creamy color. Hemp paper is stronger, lasts longer, and holds ink better than wood pulp paper. • 10. Volunteering At The Mary Manning Walsh Nursing Home Essay Volunteering at the Mary Manning Walsh Nursing Home over the summer was an invaluable experience. As I became more comfortable, I began extending my duties beyond physical tasks such as serving food or transporting residents. I started interacting with the residents on a more personal level, not as a volunteer, but more as a friend. In return, the residents became increasingly open, and the nurses watched as I conversed with residents they had deemed as reserved. Sometimes when I helped residents they would say nothing, but at the same time they said everything I needed to hear. I probably appreciated helping those residents, more than they appreciated me. Every night when I went to bed, I felt I had actually made a difference. This volunteering experience allowed me to realize that whatever I do in life, I want to go to sleep feeling the same way I did that summer. In a world filled with problems, why be an observer? I approach life with this mentality and for that reason am enticed by the problem solving and critical thinking abilities that engineers possess. More specifically, I am drawn towards bioengineering due to the influence that this area of study has on the medical field, and on the overall quality of life and health for humans. While the study of medicine can provide the ability to treat individuals, bioengineering can have a more universal impact, providing the ability to treat thousands with innovative medical technology. Positive Behavioral Intervention In Schools It is exceedingly important for schools to ensure a balanced and stable environment that provides safety, well being, and acceptance to all students. In order to do this, as well as generate a positive communal learning atmosphere that empowers the entire student body of the school and the individual classroom, there needs to be a school wide positive behavioral intervention and support (PBIS) system implemented. The defined explanation of PBIS is a framework for enhancing the adoption and implementation of a continuum of evidence based interventions to achieve academically and behaviorally important outcomes for all student (Sugai and Simonsen, 2012). To help in gathering this information the school can establish different charts and individual folders for each student. For example, a chart for behavioral referrals may be used to identify the student, the date, the teacher involved, the reason for involvement, and the student s consequence (Marzano, R. • 14. Brief Description Of Public Policy Part A: Brief description of public policy Policy refers to a distinct path of action that is suitable for the pursuit of desired goals within a particular context, directing the decision making or behavior of an organization or individual. There are three key elements of policies: problem definition, goals to be achieved, and policy instruments to address the problem and achieve the goal. The policy process is an activity of balancing different solutions that address aspects of complex problems: the policymaking is typically described as messy (CITE). Important components of the policy process include identification of a policy problem along with framing the problem for solutions (also known as policy formulation), implementation of policy strategies, and establishing outcomes for evaluation of policy effectiveness. Policies come from those who have legitimate authority to impose normative guidelines for action (i.e., elected officials). Formulation of health related policies is complex and depends on a variety of scientific, economic, social, and political forces. As a result, there is a considerable gap between what public health research shows is effective and the policies that are enacted and enforced (Brownson, Chriqui, Stamatakis, 2009). Non elected officials (i.e., practitioners) are generally required to implement the policy through programs (i.e., interventions). There are many barriers to effective policy implementation. Transportation is the system of road transportation, rail transportation, marine transportation and air transportation. Transportation always played an important role in the history of Canada because of building the railway system many provinces such as British Columbia and Prince Edward Island agreed to join Confederation. The first Canada s railway line was built in 1836 and the first railway system was completed and opened in 1885. November 8, 1885, the first rail train traveled across Canada from sea to sea. There were the first steps of transportation s history of Canada. Transportation is an essential component of the Canadian economy. The transportation s system makes possible to Canada to trade and develop local and international businesses. A recession is declared once the GDP is negative for two consecutive quarters or more, a few quarters before is actually the start of an economic downturn. The first few signs of a recession are negative growth followed by a miniature positive growth. One of the hardest and most difficult economic recessions in history was accomplished using Keynesian economics by John Fredrick Kennedy. Keynesian economics is a theory of total spending in the economy (called aggregate demand) and its effects on output and inflation. • 22. Importance Of Community Service In Education This semester I engaged in many different community service and civic engagement activities. The activity that I did the most frequently would be volunteering in a special needs class room at Vandever Elementary in Broken Arrow. I went to Broken Arrow Public School and actually know that teacher that I volunteering with from when I used to peer tutor when I was younger. I peer tutored from 3rd grade through 10th grade, switching between three main classrooms. It was so nice to see one of the teachers that I looked up so much to when I was younger and who instilled in me the joys of teaching. Volunteering in her classroom was very fun and nostalgic, but I do think that she could have been more proactive with her time management skills. While volunteering in the classroom, I became very familiar with the classroom s daily schedule and their routines. I found that there was quite a bit of time wasted in the afternoon. I was not entirely sure if maybe this had to do with her students and their limits because most of them are only a half day or if it was poor time management. Although, I think the schedule could easily be accommodated to include more instructional time if the students in the classroom were able to adjust to that. In the afternoon they spend a majority of their instructional time watching Paw Patrol, Peppa Pig, or Bookflix. I feel like if they divided their time as well they did in the morning they could get in a lot more instructional time. In the mornings ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Chiari Malformation Research Paper There are 4 different types of Chiari malformations. Type 1 is the most common and occurs when the cerebellar tonsil is found below the forman magnum; usually affecting older children or adults and is the only type of malformation that can be acquired. Type II involves both the brainstem and cerebellum below the forman magnum, this type is usually associated with other diseases such as spina bifida and myelomeningocele. This is usually found in children and this type is responsible for the name Arnold Chiari malformation. Type III is the most severe it results in the cerebellum and the brain stem producing a pouch like structure that protrudes from the back of the head and upper neck. This pouch contains brain matter and causes severe neurological deficits. Finally, Type IV is extremely uncommon and involves the complete underdevelopment of the cerebellum ( Different , n.d.). • 25. `` Hills Like White Elephants `` By Ernest Hemingway In his short story Hills like White Elephants, Ernest Hemingway uses symbolism and landscape subtly but effectively to emphasize the tension between the main characters. The reader is asked to extrapolate much of the information in an indirect fashion. The reader must look into the symbolism and imagery used alongside the words the characters share and don t share. The natural landscape covers almost the entire story, offering vivid images that contain a large amount of interpretive insight into the story. The setting puts the couple at a crossroads, a stopping place in their journey through not just Spain, but through their lives as well. Though the exact location of the train station is not given, it is often thought to be in Zaragoza, Spain. The train station is a midpoint between their past time together and the future time that they will move toward when they leave on a train. Train stations, airports, bus stations, and ports give us a sense of transition, of being between worlds, and between experiences. Placing the stage for the drama in such a locale really grabs the reader s attention and drives further symbolism in the story. Joseph Urgo points this out in his writing quite well by stating the junction where the train will stop in the story is not just the meeting of the Barcelona and Madrid lines, but the clash of male and female sources of power and authority. (Urgo 36) Hemingway stresses a few main elements of the story s setting. The oppressive heat, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Essay On God And Providence In The Canterbury Tales By... According to Chaucer all literature must have sentence and solace , it must delight and instruct its readers. Chaucer explores the roles of God and Providence in relation to Boethian consolation within the Knight s tale. This essay will describe Chaucer s use of parallel structural elements, in relation to human and celestial characters. The human characters at the center of the conflict are Palamon and Arcite, and the object of their disagreement is the fair lady Emely. The final character, Thesus acts as the moving character in the poem, driving the actions of the tale. This character structure is balanced by four parallel celestial characters. Palamon balanced by Venus, Emely by Diana, Arcite by Mars, and Thesus by Saturn. As the opening tale of The Canterbury Tales, the Knight s tale lays the foundation of heroic love and chivalry, themes that are later challenged by subsequent tales. The tale centers about two loyal cousins, Palamon and Arcite. These two young men have been captured during battle and are being held by Thesus in a tower. While noble Palamon was risen and romed in a chamber on heigh (Chaucer 207) he looks out and sees the mysterious Emely wonder around a garden. • 28. Communication Theories And Concepts Of The Film Outsourced When talking about communication, it is essential to understand what this term really means. There are many different definitions pertaining to this word, but none of them can be considered right or wrong. On the other hand, Samovar and Porter suggested one of the most basic and influential definitions: communication is the ability to share our ideas and feelings (Samovar and Porter, 1995, p. 27). Mr. Todd s journey in the film Outsourced greatly reflects on a wide variety of communication theories and concepts, as well as my personal experience in the same country, India. When referring to communication, it is fundamental to grasp The Shannon and Weaver Model that was invented in 1947. This is basically an exemplary of a few stages in which the information source called sender, sends the information to its destination, the receiver. Information obviously does not get to the receiver magically; this is why this model was invented. It is a way to illustrate how a person shares beliefs and ideas, and how they reach their destination. For example, at the beginning of the movie Outsourced, the employee called Todd Anderson asks his boss named Dave: Is this gonna take a while? when he was called to privately speak inside his office (Jeffcoat, 2006, 1:26). In this case, the sender is Dave who sends the information through a place called channel, which then gets decoded before reaching its destination, Todd. The Link Between An F Oversupply And Cdr To analyze the link between an F oversupply and CDR, in situ analyses were conducted in a 400 km² area near Kaduna City, Nigeria (see Fig. 2 1), where endemic cases of active CDR have been reported since the early 2000s, with a prevalence rate of 5.0% (HVCF 2010). Epidemiological studies in this area revealed that compared to a control group of peers who live in the same region, the cases show a lack of Ca in the blood (1.90 vs. 2.19 mmol L 1) as well as significantly higher 1.25(OH)2D serum levels (442 vs. 347 pmol L 1). The 25(OH)D levels are normal within both groups (46 vs. 57 nmol L 1), which overall is a typical sign for CDR and not for vitamin D deficiency rickets. Although no clinical signs of either dental or skeletal fluorosis were found in any of the CDR affected children, biochemical measurements on the F concentrations in the serum of the CDR affected children in the Kaduna area are still missing, and as a result, an underlying fluorosis disease cannot entirely be excluded (Emmert 2010). The study area is located in the north central of Nigeria, where the climate is affected by the annual shift of the Intertropical Convergence Zone. The mean annual precipitation rate in this area amounts to 1300 mm, and the average annual temperature is 25.6 °C (Wall 1979). It is commonly known that media coverage of anything controversial can be faulty, and biased. ABC News and CCN News could cover the same story, in different ways. This is amplified in cases that affect different audiences (as in age, race, financial class), because certain stations are aimed towards a certain audience. A great example of this is FOX and FOX Latino. The two stations, though sister stations, have very different approaches on certain topics, one being illegal immigration. FOX Latino has an audience that is concerned about this problem of illegal immigration, and the problems the immigrants themselves are having. This is obvious by looking at the articles they have. For example, On September 22nd, 2015 they posted an article titled Number of immigrant families, children arrested at border jumps more than 50%. Unlike some of their previous articles (IE What Happens to US Born Kids of Deported Undocumented Immigrants?) which was very involved and emotional, this one is rather detached. FOX Latino is there to give information on illegal immigration, possible solutions, etc. They give the unbiased facts. FOX news has very different coverage on the subject.
