Active Listening Vs. Everybody Love Raymond
I watched two different YouTube videos today on active listening. The two videos were both clips
from the television show Everybody loves Raymond . Clip one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?

parents in a class for understanding there children s behaviors better. The video was a good
representation of parents not understanding why kid act out or how to handle it. Active listening is
making a decision to put your feelings and thoughts aside and understanding what the other person has
to say. When Ray was trying to convince the teacher she needed to go to grandma s party it showed
the usual route some people take. If the kid says no, take something away so

The Fear and the Need for Nuclear Power
 Introduction
Despite the fear of nuclear disasters and proliferation of nuclear weapons, the 435 nuclear power
reactors around the world produce approximately 16 percent of the world s electricity and 19 percent
of electricity in the United States (WIT, 2013). In a world increasingly affected by global warming,
with increasing energy consumption, it is important to acknowledge that nuclear power is a safe,
clean, reliable, and sustainable source of energy, unlike our presumptions. This paper analyzes
potential risks and benefits of nuclear power as a fuel source and why the United States should
continue nuclear power production.
 How Nuclear Power Works
Natural uranium undergoes the steps of mining and milling, conversion, enrichment, and fabrication to
convert it from ore to fuel pellets. Uranium isotopes are enriched, separating the fissionable uranium
from the unfissionable, and a fuel fabricator presses it into fuel rods (WIT, 2013). The atoms in
uranium fuel are split apart to release heat energy, which makes steam and drives a turbine to produce
electricity. Used nuclear fuel is stored in a deep pool of water afterward (WIT, 2013).
Ther two types of commercial nuclear power plants are boiling water reactors and pressurized water
reactors. Out of the 100 reactors in the United States, 65 are pressurized water reactors and 35 are
boiling water reactors (IEA). Boiling water reactors heat the water in the reactor vessel directly into
steam while pressurized water

Evolution Of Tennis Research Paper
Over 17 million people played tennis in 2012, according to the Outdoor Foundation.
Tennis is a steadily growing sport and industry with millions of people joining every year.
The ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans started a form of what we call tennis today. Many people
want to know how tennis evolved from being the game of kings to being played by many different
people. Tennis evolved from being played by kings in England and France which then has
matriculated throughout many years to many different people and places in the world.
What has shaped the growth of tennis to what it is today from all different aspects socially, physically,
culturally and historically? Socially, tennis has grown from being played by socio economically

The United States Tennis Association(USTA) was founded in 1881, but the Women s Tennis
Association was only started in 1973. Tennis is one of the main sports that has different playing rules
with men and women, men play best of five sets and women play best of three sets, meaning that the
first person to win six games with at least a difference of two will win that set. A match consists of the
person who wins the most games out of five for men and three for women. Women were said to be
weaker, by men, because at the first Wimbledon tournament a woman wearing the extremely hot
uniforms, that consisted of long multi layered skirts, long sleeved blouses and corsets, passed out
during a match. Recently there has been talk about making the the women s matches 5 sets instead of
three as long as people are talking about and want it, it can always happen. The oldest wimbledon
match played was only available for males to compete. Although it didn t take long for women to join
in and that was in 1884. During this time a lot of people saw men as being the stronger sex and more
capable, but it only took about six years to add females into the tennis community. While the game has
come very far with equality, it s still not perfect. In 2014 a Forbes article discusses the wage gap in
professional tennis between male and female solely with prize money earnings. Recently women s
tennis has been broadcasted on television just as much as men s

Analysis Of The Film Gibber Eidolon
Greetings from the Abyss. The name s Charles Chadwick, and for the last 7 years I have poured
thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours of labor into my film Gibber Eidolon. The film is shot
entirely on black and white Super8 film, and uses a myriad of techniques. From hand painted film, to
video generation loss, to hand processing, to found footage and traditionally shot sequences.
The title of the film roughly translates to Babbling Ghost. Babbling from fear or shock. The Gibber
Eidolon is a being that is not quite there because it is suffused with terror. Its perspective is of diffused
chaos.
Concretely, the film is a tour of various San Francisco Bay Area graveyards; almost all of them have
residents going back to the 18th and 19th centuries. Also, the film contains live footage of historic
computer technology, both operational and not. Found footage/archival footage in this same vein is
used as well, in addition to appropriated visual material whose subject matter differs...used mainly for
metaphoric illustration. The work contains footage shot over the last 15 years, as well as found
footage acquired over a period of roughly 13 years.
This movie is first and foremost diaristic. It contains my life: the places I ve been and the way I ve
responded to them, and the ideas I ve had along the way. It is a work of spirit.
The film also is a collaboration between myself and my dear friend Matthew Bambas, who I ve been
working with both on films and music for nearly

Escape Through The Red Sea
Exodus 14: 10 20
10 As Pharaoh drew near, the Israelites looked back, and there were the Egyptians advancing on them.
In great fear the Israelites cried out to the LORD. 11They said to Moses, Was it because there were no
graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? What have you done to us,
bringing us out of Egypt? 12Is this not the very thing we told you in Egypt, Let us alone and let us
serve the Egyptians ? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the
wilderness. 13But Moses said to the people, Do not be afraid, stand firm, and see the deliverance that
the LORD will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians whom you see today you shall never ...

The period of oppression followed; the Pharaoh ordered the Jews to build the cities of Pithom and
Ramesses. To avoid a population explosion among the Hebrews, Pharaoh ordered each newborn son to
be thrown into the river. Moses was nevertheless preserved by his mother for the first three months of
his life before she finally decided to put him in a rush basket on the river s edge. The Pharaoh s
daughter discovered him, rescued him and gave him to a nurse, none other than his own mother. This
was because Moses s sister had watched to see who would find the baby, had pretended not to
recognize him and then recommended to the Princess a nurse who was really the child s mother. He
was treated as one of the Pharaoh s sons and given the name Moses .
God ordered Moses to go and find the Pharaoh and lead his brothers out of Egypt. Aaron, Moses s
brother, helped him in this task. This is why Moses, once he had returned to Egypt, went with his
brother to visit the Pharaoh who was the successor of the king under whose reign he had long ago
been born.
The Pharaoh refused to allow the Jews in Moses s group to leave Egypt. God revealed Himself to
Moses once again and ordered him to repeat his request to Pharaoh. According to the Bible, Moses
was eighty years old at this time. Through magic, Moses showed the Pharaoh that he had supernatural
powers. This was not enough however. God sent the famous plagues down upon Egypt. The rivers

Opportunities come with risks.9 Accepting this risk is often the key to the success and especially when
we are talking about fighting insurgents. To accept the risk means that you as commander have to
make a detailed analysis of the situation taking in consideration all probable results and selecting at
the end the course of action that meets best the desired result. The responsibility for what a unit does
is always falls on the commander. As Gabbard said In the military, I learned that leadership means
raising your hand and volunteering for the tough, important assignments. Often commanders do not
take the risk because they fear the failure and want to stay in the safe zone, but there is no victory
without sacrifice. Personally, I think that one of the most difficult problems he had to think about was
the possible destruction of the supply lines. What LG Natonski did was instructing the creation of a
resupply point, which would be able to give them supplies for 15 days. He also made the decision to
request a supply for 8,000 beers to celebrate the Marine Corps 229th birthday, which were distributed
after the campaign, had stopped. This may sound as a crazy decision in a time like that but the moral

The Mende Man Pieces Together The Story Of Jesus Christ
Faith plays an important role in the Mende s road to freedom. When the word faith comes to mind, it
is one that concerns a belief in some power and requires perseverance in that belief. The Mende
people certainly showed faith in more ways than one, but an example that is true to the definition
mentioned before is one where Cinque and one of his fellow Mende look over the Bible. After
examining the pictures, the Mende man pieces together the story of Jesus Christ despite knowing very
little English. He shows the story to Cinque, and both men see how Jesus had unrightfully died, yet in
death he had arrived in a place more beautiful than the world on which he lived. As a response, Cinque
and his friend mustered up the faith to propel them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With faith and hope, they entrusted all communications to Cinque and had faith that he would speak
for the best of all the Mende. This faith in Cinque as well as a faith in a better life after the trials
brought unity amongst the Mende people. From then on, they become more than just a tribe. Through
faith, they had grown close enough to consider one another family.
Consequently, family is another prevalent theme in La Amistad. Since the opening scene, the Mende
people considered themselves as one tribe, one people, and one family. This was shown when Cinque
bloodily unlocks his hand and ankle bindings in the bottom of the Amistad, but he does not stop there.
With bloody hands and fatigue overcoming him, he draws out extra strength to free his family around
him. In doing so, the Mende stay as one unit and work together to complete a successful insurrection
against the ship s crew, so that they can reunite with their beloved family members back in Africa.
However, rather than standing still and keeping quiet, they bring their home in Africa to America.
They bring the traditions that run in the Mende family and stay faithful in performing those traditions.
For example, when one Mende died in the prison, they attempted to hold a customary ritual to show
due respect and allow eternal peace for the soul of their recently passed family member. Although the
whites opposed them from doing so, the Mende people were fervent about their African duties and
respects towards

A Paper On Tattoo Culture
Maddie Edwards
Humorous Discourse
Foundations Paper
Tattoo Culture When defining a term it first has to be understood, which is why American studies can
be incredibly difficult to define. Although using different ways of studying popular culture, in this
case tattoo culture, a better understanding of American studies can be formed. Specifically by using
the ideas of researching context to understand the time and surrounding area, self reflexivity to
understand how oneself is affected by this, and studying how the material and visual cultures of
everyday lives. Tattoos are one of these forms of popular culture, and the culture surrounding tattoos
exemplifies many of the characteristics of American Studies. When studying tattoo culture context is
significantly important, because a majority of the time this art form means something to the
individual. As Nash Smith discusses literary analysis only gives us part of the information that is
necessary in understanding where ideas stem from and how they became relevant. He also talks about
how the informations gathered from these sources needs to be interpreted in the light of a thorough
knowledge of class structure, of the stratification of taste according to levels of sophistication, and of
the different audiences in which different magazines and publishing houses addressed themselves. 1
While tattoos are not regulated by publishing houses and different magazines it is still helpful to
interrupt them based on the environment.

Reasons To Visit Venice Essay
The first time I visited Venice, it stole my heart. Recently, I was able to visit for the second time and
loved it even more.
Here are a few reasons to visit Venice, the city known as the Queen of the Adriatic:
1. To see the canals, including the Grand Canal and bridges. See both the majestic Grand Canal with
famous Rialto Bridge, as well as smaller canals in the more intimate residential neighborhoods, to get
a feel for this remarkable city.
2. For the atmosphere of beauty and romance. The architecture and grandeur of Venice is striking, and
the city is picturesque at any time of day.
3. To wander the narrow streets and maybe feel a little lost in time. In a city with a long and legendary
past, it is easy to savor the history. Venice served as a center of commerce for ... Show more content

The main sights, including St. Mark s Square, get crowded during the day. We experienced a calmer
Venice in the early morning and evening hours when the cruise ships weren t in port. We were told
that Venice is a city of about 60,000, with millions of visitors each year. Of course, many tourist cities
are packed with sightseers, so I just expect crowds.
Another complaint I ve heard focuses on the lovely canals themselves; the reality is that the water can
have an unpleasant smell. My visits have been during late October and mid June. In both cases, I
noticed it a couple of times, but it did not detract from my experience. There are disagreeable smells in
other big cities.
On my first visit to Venice about two years ago, I also thought at first that many buildings needed
some paint and repairs. The city can look a little rough around the edges. But that could be seen as part
of its charm. It is not perfectly polished. It is an ancient city, built improbably on 118 small islands in
a lagoon and sieged daily by sea tides.

Why Does Rosalind s Use Of Disguise
Role playing in Shakespeare s As You Like It and Measure for Measure is an important aspect that
extends from actors playing a character to that character playing another character as the same initial
character being played. Rosalind, in As You Like It, is a heroin that disguises herself as the male
Ganymede. Duke Vincentio disguises himself as Friar Peter in Measure for Measure. The use of these
main characters in disguise drives the plot forward in ways that keep the audience entranced and
engaged in the element of disguise. Rosalind and Duke Vincentio, in disguise, create suspense when
they are nearly discovered by the wit of other characters or by being foolish and abusing their
disguise. In each play, their main use of disguise is to test ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lucio is the character that came the closest to knowing that the Friar was the Duke in disguise but the
text never tells if he really knew or not. Lucio provoked the Duke without mercy. In act 3, scene 1,
Lucio continuously insults the Duke while in conversation with him. He says that the Duke has used
vices such as prostitutes and drink. He claims that he knows and loves and is well known to the Duke
(3.1.387). All the while, the Duke remains in disguise as the Friar but he does become angry and
frustrated with Lucio s false words. Because he is unable to act how he would if he were in his ruling
position, he threatens to report Lucio to the Duke for saying these slanderous things (3.1.397). In the
final act, it is Lucio who discovers that the friar is the Duke by unveiling him. Whether Lucio is
surprised by this discovery is unknown and left, again, to the interpretation of the director. In these
moments when Rosalind s and the Duke s ability to stay in disguise were being tested, they both felt
trapped in their disguise due to their inability to show their true emotions towards their

The Characters Of A Samper From The Sniper And The Sniper
When i was in kid, i wanted to learn how to play soccer. All my friend played soccer but i didn t.
Instead of going to my friend for help i grabbed my soccer ball went to the field and played each and
every day. Though i was not that good that year i showed determination to keep going and get better
and by my third year i was one of the best on my team. BY not wanting anyone to help me learn to
play soccer i showed determination. Determination can be how you can keep going when the odds are
against you or how you can handle difficult situations. The characters of the sniper from The sniper,
and alex from Lockdown show determination through their action and their thoughts.
In the story The sniper by Liam O Flaherty, the sniper show determination through making hard
decisions and keep going even if he get injured. One example of how the sniper show he is determined
is that even though he got shot he was determined to kill the enemy sniper. The quote that show this is
when he say s im hit .(Liam O Flaherty p.3).This quote shows that even though the sniper is badly
injured he will still keep going and what he is determined to kill the enemy sniper. Even though his
arm is badly broken and he is bleeding out. Another example of how the sniper showed determination
is when the sniper thinks of plan to kill the enemy sniper. The quote that shows this is when he say s

Origins of Criminal Behavior
Tara Olivarez
University of the Rockies
Abstract
We spend a large amount of time learning. It should be important to know something about it.
Everyone is a learner, and everyone is also a teacher. Even as small children will show another child
how to play a game. Most social process theories assume behavior (good or bad) is learned behavior
which means that even criminal behavior can be learned through social interactions.
Origins of Criminal Behavior
In all connections with learning, we find ourselves learning to like or dislike. The learning process is
very complex, when we consider the large variety of idea, viewpoints, values and bits of information
people have. A great deal of learning is a matter of association or conditioning. Criminal behavior has
and will always be a large focus for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

During the novel The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane, Henry fights alongside his comrades

The Effects of Deregulation on Global Economy
Introduction
Thesis: Deregulation has more negative effects on global economy than positive.
Deregulation, this word is heard on the news, economists use this word quite often, and government
officials are somewhat terrified of this word. What does deregulation mean?
Deregulation is the process in which a government may remove or reduce certain restrictions in
matters of business to have a more efficient operation of markets. By observing the effects that
deregulation can cause on an economy, can help later generations not commit the same mistakes that
the past or the current generations have done.

The Federal Reserve is struggling to contain what is already the most severe credit contraction since
the Great Depression . This is the consequence of a series of financial deregulations. This caused the
American economy to depend on asset bubbles. Asset bubbles are overvalued stock, overvalued real
estate, and dubious financial instruments.
What have caused this bubble to grow even larger? Speculative borrowing have caused this bubble to
pump itself up. Just like in the 1920s the borrowing feeds on itself. This causes inflation of assets and
these bubbles are caused by interconnected hedge fund profits that are reliant on high yield sub prime
mortgages. Basically this means that people infest in stocks or funds by borrowing money. When
people borrow this money they are buying from each other which causes the prices to grow or a better
word to use is inflate. That is why the stock market bids could soar by risky private equity deals. So
what would happen if they prices fall?
If the air comes out of this bubble so does the air of others. Prices fall which means people can t sell
their real estate, stocks or funds at the prices they bought it our higher. When this happens then they
would not be able to finish paying their mortgage. So the investors that have borrowed money from
the bank lose money, and the bank loses money. This crisis is hard to manage for the Federal Reserve.

Sociological Issues In Children Of Men
To what extent does Children Of Men(2007), by Alfonso Cuarón, reflect the political/sociological
issues at the time of it s release?
Children Of Men was released in 2007, during the global state of paranoia following the September
11th attack on the World Trade Center, an event that triggered numerous scandals under the Bush
Administration s new military campaign; the War On Terror. This campaign was the government s
hasty response to the terrorist acts of 2001 as part of an attempt to calm the shocked civilian attitude
after September 11th attack on the World Trade Center, but actually resulted in a paranoid public
attitude towards the U.S government.

Released in 2007, in a decade ruled by societal paranoia concerning the U.S government, the film
expresses the future that people feared 2007 was leading into. With governmental authority corrupted
by a xenophobic attitude caused by terrorism that has resulted in a anti immigration sentiment across
Britain, escalated to the point that the world is in utter chaos with numerous problems, it is easy to see
the fingers the film makers were pointing. In sci fi, it is not uncommon to see directors playing upon
people s hopes and fears of the future and portraying them in an exaggerated format, creating a world
that looks uncomfortably familiar to our own. I think this may be the reason for the severe lack of
technological, scientific or alien reference that one would expect to see in a typical sci fi; in keeping
the world of Children Of Men underwhelmingly advanced, it uses realism to hit home the idea of a
dystopian future in 2027. People were more likely to act upon the prophecy Children Of Man held if
they could see that it was personally applicable to their own future. I think advanced technology and
aliens, apart from having ruined the relatable feeling of 2027 Children Of Men has, would have
distracted the audience and dragged the film into more of a fantasy sub genre, disrupting the clever
use of sci fi

The Royal Military College as an Instrument for Molding Military Offices
To view the Royal Military College (RMC) as an instrument for molding military officers for the
nation would be an accurate means of outlining the institutions objective. In the Organizational
Behavior Concepts, Controversies, Applications, textbook by Stephen Robbins and Nancy Langton,
organizational culture is defined as: a system of shared meaning and common perception held by
members of an organization that distinguishes it from other organizations. (Robbins and Langton 316)

While in the early part of the last century some of the original goals of RMC included producing

did not get shut down when the mandate changed. This fact reflects its immortality.
There are many other military academies in the world; an example of one closest to home is that of the
United States Military Academy, WestPoint. RMC and WestPoint have nursed a competitive rivalry
since the early years of RMC. While both institutions are in the business of producing commissioned
officers for their respective nations, the two academies are very different in terms of character and
personality. According to the field of organizational behavior, institutions are said to have personalities
just as people do. This is where culture plays a role in each respective military academy and
determining the atmosphere of the institution. At both RMC and WestPoint there are differing notions
of acceptable behavior. The first years at WestPoint are treated very differently than they are at RMC.

There was also walnut, which was one of the only types of wood grown locally that was considered
fine, or fancy. One type of imported wood was mahogany. It was imported from the Caribbean and
was very expensive. It was usually used for dressers and cabinets, but could be used for tables and
candlestands as well. This shows that only wealthy people would buy finer furniture because it was
fashionable and expensive. Although mostly the English used Woodworking, the Native Americans
did too. Native Americans did some woodworking. The Native Americans made tools out of bone
from dead animals. They made different tools from different bones. One tool they made from bone
was the axe. This shows that Native Americans did not have access to metal and used an alternative
resource for woodworking. Some Woodworkers were well known more than others.
Some noted Woodworkers not only built but sometimes fixed parts of the town. There were famous
woodworkers such as Benjamin Powell, who fixed the Public Gaol. James Morris, who supervised
construction on the Bruton Parish Church. John Wheatley did repairs on the Palace and helped on
Carter s Grove Plantation. A man named Christopher Ford built the 2nd Capital Building in Colonial
Williamsburg. This shows that Woodworkers played an important role in the construction of Colonial
Williamsburg. Such a job does have a good income. The Colonial Woodworker worked on many jobs,
for which he was paid.

White People In Sports
White people did not allow black people at first in the sport activity. White people did not want to
have any contact with black community. Black people were only allowed to have their own leagues.
They were not allowed to be in the leagues that they had white athletes. The black people could only
compete with themselves. It was very hard for black people to even have any competition with other
races in that period of time. After a while when white people started noticing that black people were
actually very good at sports, at first they tried to not let them compete with white people. After some
time that black people compete with white people, then they were sure that black people were actually
better than white people at specific sports. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The black people were catchers and in quarterback while there were no black people holding the
position of authority or being a coach. The problem is that most of the heads of these leagues and
sport activities were racist at that time. The reason that most black people were about to get into sport
society was that during that time they really wanted to have a good social standing and the only way
that black kid could get it was through their participation in sport. It is really sad that their signing in
and hiring process was different than white people. They were getting paid less and they could get fire
faster than white people. Although Bill White, a Black man, was President of the National League of
Professional Baseball, from April 1989 to February 1994, very few Black men have ever had the
opportunity to manage baseball teams. The Chicago White Sox hired Larry Doby, one of the two

Socioeconomic Factors In The Philippines
Socioeconomic factors
Enmeshed in the reliance of remittances, particular socioeconomic and environmental factors
contribute to the impetus of migration and trafficking. While profitable employment and increased
opportunities abroad serve as pull factors, there are many push factors that motivate migrants,

landlessness, and unemployment) (Kempadoo, 212). Currently, about 26% of Filipinos continue to
live in poverty, the percentage of poor has hovered between 20% and 30% for at least the past 10

Widespread disparities in income and quality of life persist across regions and sectors (UNDP).
The most impoverished regions in the country are rural and agricultural areas, specifically in the

insurgents and government forces for decades (Suansing). The Autonomous Region of Muslim

Critical Race Theory Essay
Firstly, when it comes to describing women that are non white, different terminology is used by
different authors or researchers, however in doing so this generally creates inconsistencies and in
some form it loses value. For example , the term women of colour can be used to refer to ,African
American women, Asian, Hispanic, Native American and Indian ( generally used in the USA)
(Davidson, 1997). Similarly Lee (2014) Refers to African American women as blacks whereas Duff
(2011) refers to south Asian, afro Caribbean and African groups as Blacks On the other hand.
Deakinns et al (1996) cited in Davidson (1997) use the term ethnic minority to incorporate various
ethnic minority groups excluding the world black , Somehow signifying the issue at Hand.
Therefore in attempt to avoid any inconsistences the term women of African descent will be used to
refer to black women throughout this assignment.
In reference to Hite, (1996), studies have indicated that race and gender are pervasive factors in career
progression and therefore influences opportunities for those who are not of dominate culture .

Founded by Derrick Bell, critical race theory is an academic discipline, which maintains that
American society is still divided in terms of race. CRT states that in terms of race, exists the
oppressors (Whites) and victims (Blacks). CRT contends that America is racist at the core. Many
scholars including Delgado and Stefancic support this as they question the systems that are in place in
America. By examining past and existing power structures, Delgado Stefancic, (2001) conclude that
the nation s legal structures are racist and invalid. These scholars also suggest that the legal systems
and power structures are built upon white supremacy. As a result, they are not neutral or objective as
they support the subordination of people of

United for One
In the book, Outcasts United, by St. John, my favorite chapter is actually the first one. Chapter one is
all about Luma, the soccer coach of the refugees. The reason chapter one is my favorite is because she
reminds me a lot of myself. Luma wants to part from her parents and stay in the United States of
America. Her choice came with the consequences of her parents and sister not communicating with
her again if she chooses to stay in the US. Her grandma would still communicate about the family
until she passes away in a later chapter. Another example of why this is my favorite is because I can
relate to tons of it. My dad no longer talks to me due to me moving out at too young of an age. I
moved to the city to be closer to work and school but in his eyes I was sinning. This is also why I
think I relate most to Luma. There are other reasons why I think that I relate to Luma. Throughout the
whole book, Luma never wants to give up. For example in chapter nine, Get Lost , when Luma knows
she has to find a new field for her fugees to play on. According to St John, on page 93, the YMCA
calls and lets Luma know they found a field for her. She never gave up on her high hopes. Luma
always wanted the best for her players. I am just like Luma, as I never give up on things. My number
one struggle I never give up on is my exercise. Luma has a great strength in her hopes. She honestly
doesn t care about anyone s negative opinions. It is crazy how much I think I relate to Luma. Just

Simone De Beauvoir And Frantz Fanon And The Oppression Of...
The majority dictates history, policy, science and general education. With the view of the minority so
firmly permeating society s mind, the voice of the minority falls to the wayside. Simone de Beauvoir,
Frantz Fanon, and Michel Foucault all seek to establish a voice for the minority, and a path to freedom
and liberation from the dominance of the normalized majority. In her work The Second Sex. De
Beauvoir tackles the oppression of women. While not a minority, women are written out of society by
a more dominant male society, and experience oppression like that felt by the minority. Like minority
groups, women are relegated to a status of otherness in society, which defines them as outside the
bounds of the accepted and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Simone de Beauvoir defines the lived experience of women as one of otherness, and from this stems
the oppression of women. De Beauvoir explains the lived experiences of women when she states that
he is the Subject; he is the Absolute. She is the other. The man constitutes himself at the subject and
the absolute, both descriptors place complete emphasis and importance on the man, the women are
only relevant in their existence as the other. Since women are presently regulated to the category of
the other, humanity is male, and man defines women, not in herself, but in relation to himself; she is
not considered an autonomous being. Without a form of autonomy women have no basis for
understanding themselves as women. If women must identify themselves through men, there is no
way to escape a society in which men are the center of society and women are merely peripheral
beings that conflate themselves to the wills and wishes of the more relevant man. De Beauvoir s
notion of liberation and freedom called on women to reclaim the category of womanhood to create an
autonomous and working woman who can break out of the master slave dynamic created by the

Spirit Of Offense
Do you walk in the spirit of offense?
The truth is, all of us at one time or another, have either been offended or offended someone.
And the good news is, we all have the opportunity to SHIELD UP!
How Do I know if I have the spirit of offense?
Before we get into what it means to Shield Up, let s first identify if we have the spirit of offense.
Even though we are told in James 1:19 to be slow to take offense, we have seen relationships
destroyed and people leave their church family over the spirit of offense. (Block Quote)
Understand [this], my beloved brethren. Let every man be quick to hear [a ready listener], slow to
speak, slow to take offense and to get angry. ~ James 1:19 (AMPC)
So how can we tell if we walk in the spirit of offense? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Submission is meant for every believer. As God expects us to submit to Him, to each other, to our
spouses, employers, and our government!
Remind the believers to submit to the government and its officers. They should be obedient, always
ready to do what is good. ~ Titus 3:1(NLT)
The slippery slope here is that without submission, we can almost guarantee that we will walk in the
spirit of offense.
That s because to be discipled is to be mentored. To be mentored is to be held accountable.
However, you cannot be discipled without being teachable. You cannot be mentored without yielding
to submission. And you cannot receive accountability without humility.
In other words, when you walk in humility you will avoid walking in the spirit of offense!

Rhetoric In Waiting For Superman
The political documentary, Waiting for Superman investigates and criticizes the American public
education system. Directed by Davis Guggenheim and produced by Lesley Chilcott in 2010, the goal
of this artifact is to look at the role of charter schools in comparison to different educational reforms.
The film connects how these factors are producing results that may change the future of education for
students within the United States. The plot of this documentary focuses in on the stories of 5 regular
public education students Bianca, Emily, Anthony, Daisy, and Francisco who are from across the
country and all strive to be accepted into a charter school system. Through the perspectives of the 5
children and their families, the audience observes how they each individually struggle to succeed
under various circumstances. Guggenheim introduces the different and difficult options that he
believes contains the hope to change the American education system and its repercussions. ... Show

Causes Of Dropouts In The UAE
Should I really drop out? he sadly said I think have no other choice, besides I cannot even afford it In
the recent years of UAE, a good amount of students are dropping out of universities. Why are the
classes getting empty? Where are the students leaving? Setting the education off the priorities is
something normal now in the UAE, but from a logical point of view it should not be normal. It is safe
to say that increase rate of dropouts can be added to the list of problems that UAE faces. For instance,
the American University of Sharjah once showed that 30% of students drop out after the freshmen
year, and this is just one university out of many in the UAE. There are many different causes behind
this problem for sure. The most important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, Analysts polled by Reuters in 2014 showed that the average inflation in the UAE would
rise by 2.5 percent in 2014, 2.7 percent 2015, and expected to accelerate more in the incoming years (
UAE Inflation, 2014, para. 2). In other words, inflation is striking in all over UAE, and paying for
tuition fees is becoming harder than ever. For example, the American University of Sharjah office of
registrar stated on the undergraduate catalog of 2010 2011 that the tuition fee per semester is
approximately 37,000 dhs whereas the tuition fee per semester of 2016 2017 is about 50,000 dhs. A
probable reason why students are dropping out is they come from a poor financial background, where
the parents find some difficulties to pay the tuition fees, or they have other expenses to commit to such
as rents, debts, and regular consumptions. Furthermore, a second reason could be the lack of earning
scholarships or financial aids. In the recent years, universities lean towards to be pickier in the
admission of the scholarships; as a result, students are forced to drop out as they rely fully on the
scholarships. In my case, I had the same problem and I was not able to maintain the scholarship. I was
about to drop out, but thank god I did

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Tax Havens
The central argument of this paper is that tax havens are not only mediums for tax avoidance and
evasion but belong more broadly to the world of finance. Viewed individually, tax havens may appear
small and insignificant; combined, they play a central role in the world economy, where liberalization
and deregulation of the financial sphere has caused an exponential growth of tax havens in the last 40
years. I would define tax havens as jurisdictions that have sufficient autonomy and most importantly a
deliberate interest to write their own tax, finance, and other laws and regulations. Their purpose is to
ease transactions undertaken by nonresidents who have the intention to avoid taxations and other
regulations in their home country by providing a legally backed veil of secrecy to make it hard to

essential impact on the tale is her Southern experience. During her life time, Southerners were

This research was performed in order to investigate the processes relating to the post discharge MUR

was carried out using questionnaires, distributed by hand to community pharmacists in three boroughs
of South West London. The aim of the questionnaire was to achieve a rapid response from a diverse
range of community pharmacies. This study had a response rate of 50% (59 out 118 questionnaires
were received back) which was lower than originally expected. It would appear that one of the main
reasons could be attributed to time restraints of the role as many pharmacists identified that they did
not have the time to complete the questionnaire. To further compound the lower than expected
completion rate, some of the pharmacists approached were locum pharmacists who were reluctant to
participate on the basis of their limited knowledge of the way that particular pharmacy functioned and
their lack of familiarity with the community surrounding the pharmacy in which they were working.
Another factor which contributed to the low response rate was that some of the returned
questionnaires were not fully completed and therefore could not be included in the data analysis.
100% of the respondents provided MUR and NMS services and just over half of the participants 52%,
provided post discharge MUR/NMS. It was found from the responses that it is consistently difficult to

Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) consist of two or more benzene ringed compounds made
of only carbon and hydrogen. Compounds which are made of two rings are known as di aromatics
whereas those made of three benzene rings are known as tri aromatics and so forth. As the number of
rings increase, molecular weights of these compounds also increase and the compounds tend towards
higher thermodynamic stability. Most common examples of PAHs are naphthalene, phenanthrene,
pyrene etc.
Further, as these compounds become heavier, the particle s size increases and hence these compounds
are also known to be pre cursors of soot formation. In this report we will only be studying PAH in the
vapour phase whose particle sizes will be restricted to less than 1.5 nm. Following diagram shows the
formation of PAH resulting in soot, in a premixed flame. Figure 1: Formation of PAH followed by
soot. (Howard originally in Bockhorn) In a study carried out by Y. Lev et al, it is seen that the
concentration of total PAH is around 0.25 ng to 1 ng per µg of total particulate matter depending on
the number of rings, which is a very small quantity of the total hydrocarbon emission from
automotive. Figure 2: Ratio of total PAH to PM depending on the size of the compound [Y.Lev]

Shrek Research Papers
DreamWorks Animation has released over 30 animated films since 1998. Among their highest
grossing films are the Shrek franchise, Madagascar 3, and Kung Fu Panda 2. For this analysis I shall
be looking at Shrek 2 and Kung Fu Panda 2, and examining what may make these movies a bit
unsuccessful despite their success. Shrek 2 is DreamWorks highest grossing film at $919.8 million
worldwide, topping its first film Shrek. This film may be the highest grossing film but what about it
may have fallen short? I found the opening of the movie using a storybook to not be as successful as
its usage in the first Shrek. The issue of using the storybook may have stemmed from how they
transitioned to the actually movie, having the 2D storybook picture of Prince Charming suddenly
change into the 3D model was a bit jarring and could have been done better. Using a different way to
deliver the opening monologue, or even changing the dialogue so it didn t have to be read as if it were

Advertising Strategies For The Highest Product Sales
Thesis: Advertising strategies that lead to the highest product sales are the ones that utilize effective

form of advertising, enables both audio and video advertising messages. Unlike other means of

One of the television advertising strategies that leads to the highest product sales is to utilize effective
branding and represent products honestly and clearly so that the product is represented clearly in the
commercial. An example of this is Tony the Tiger for Kellogg s cereal. Tony the Tiger appears in
commercials as an animated character interacting with children in a live action world. To be able to do
this, Kellogg and other cereal companies spend millions of dollars annually in advertising. By having
characters like these, viewers are able to immediately identify what brand is being presented. Another
example is the Bounty commercial form Procter and Gamble. This commercial compares Bounty and
bargain paper towels by showing them being used beside each other. This Bounty commercial shows
that Bounty paper towels are 50% stronger and more absorbent than bargain paper towels because the
commercial creators know that consumers would choose the brand that is known as the strongest.
Bounty is a little higher priced, but the commercial indicates that a person can use the towels longer
than the bargain brand towels. These commercials make people aware of the brand and cause the
viewers to be more likely to choose it over others. Many commercials do not present their brand name
clearly, and this leaves viewers confused as to what the commercial is selling. For

A White Man s Burden, And Achebe s Things Fall Apart
In history, colonization was a truly popular tradition practiced by great and powerful empires in order
to extract and retrieve all materials necessary to support their homeland. However, in order to achieve
such sense of commerce and well being, those colonists who had the power, had to colonize weaker
and far less advanced societies. Great powers such as Britain and France would then travel to these
societies and implement their rule in order to gain prosperity. Some, those who benefited from
colonization, felt that the practice of colonization was an obligation to better the uncivilized, societies
and help them advance, but the emotional and physical hurt that came from colonizing outweighed the
positive aspects. The intention was good, but the manner in which colonization was carried out was
poor. This topic is immensely controversial that pieces such as Kipling s poem, A White Man s
Burden, and Achebe s Things Fall Apart, have been written in order to support or go against
colonization. But despite much debate, colonization has been a tradition that has caused those regions
being colonized much struggle and negativity. The novel Things Fall Apart, speaks of the life of
Umuofia2, a fictional Nigerian village, and its traditions before colonization and then the changes it
faces at the initiation of colonization. It is based around the life of a man named Okonkwo before the
colonists come and the struggles he faces when they arrive. Just as all other regions, Umuofia

Pakistan s economy faced depression in 2012. In 2013, the political scenario was quite unpredictable

year. It was due to the success of the agricultural sector. Generally the political scenario does not have
a deep impact on the real estate market because the economy of Pakistan is quite informal and
investors are attracted to invest in the property market. The year 2014 was also positive for the
economy of Pakistan and since the beginning of this year, real estate market of Pakistan showed
stability in both residential and commercial terms.
Now the real estate market is showing positive results. The demand of the properties in the leading

The Death Penalty And The United States
The death penalty, as we know it today, didn t exist in the United States until 1976. However, the
American penal system has incorporated capital punishment since the earliest settlements were
founded in the early 1600 s. The first recorded execution in the United States occurred in 1608 in
Jamestown, Virginia when Captain George Kendall was executed just one year after the Jamestown
settlement had been established after he had been convicted of being a spy for Spain (Part I: History of
the Death Penalty). Over the next 250 years, several states moved toward abolishing capital
punishment altogether. While there has been serious push towards ending capital punishment, more
than half of state governments within the United States cling onto their right to execute criminals who
perform truly heinous crimes. While many states have maintained their Constitutional right to perform
actions outside of the realm of the Federal government, public opinion of the death penalty began to
dwindle within the United States as many of its allies emerged from World War II. The United States
and her allied nations bore witness to the devastating actions performed by Nazi Germany and the
Concentration Camps and must have therefore felt a great desire to ensure that no such actions could
be decreed by a government over its people. The landmark case for capital punishment in the United
States occurred in 1972 in Furman v. Georgia. In the case, ...prisoners were sentenced to death after

Breaking Point In I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings
Merriam Webster Dictionary defines breaking point as The point at which a person gives way under
stress. When one does reach a breaking point, they feel overwhelmed by all the stressful situations
around them. There are many solutions to move on from a breaking point. The most successful
strategy that one can use to move on from a breaking point is surrounding one s self with people that
he/she trusts. Marguerite surrounds herself with people that make her feel safe, after her mom s
boyfriend assaults her, in the novel I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings. For example, after her mom s
boyfriend assaults her, Marguerite returns to Stamps and she does not talk as much as she once did.
She does not start talking until she meets Mrs. Flowers. Mrs.

explicitly to this type customer, based on their interests and personal data details. These people also
feel intruded on when their personal information is sold to businesses that they never gave approval to.
Online driven marketing is the most famous use of collected personal data. There is, however, a
growing apprehension and a captivating backlash from the public over online targeted advertising.
One of the more blemished examples of the public uproar from online targeted advertising is Amazon

Stealing one s identity and also stealing one s person information actually continues to occur in leaps
and bounds every year. These occurrences cause customers to lose large amounts of money as well as
it is costing them their privacy. Consumers then become distraught with the companies that collected
their personal information which actually led to the data breach and discipline them in the market
(Beckett, 2014, p. para.1)
Conclusion
The gathering of personal data does unfortunately also have many benefits for both the consumers and
business, but when used dishonorably they can become very concerning and harmful to the actual
consumer. However, consumers who do visit these websites and then knowingly consent to allow that
corporation to collect their personal data for marketing purposes has been proven to benefit all parties
involved. By doing this it allows the specific company be able to follow interests and purchases of the
customer and then to provide these customers with personalized advertisements and recommendations
that may increase the possibility that the consumer will spend more with the business. It also benefits
the customer by providing them with specific goods and services that could in the long run, increase
their quality of life and that they may not have known about otherwise. It also can create a better

Why Is Supply-Side Economics Important
To overcome poverty and the flaws of the economic crisis in our society, we need to envision our
social life. We have to free our mind, imagine what has never happened before and write social fiction.
We need to imagine things to make them happen. If you don t imagine, it will never happen.
(Muhammad Yunis) Economic policy refers to the actions that governments take in the economic
field. It covers the systems for setting levels of taxation, government budgets, the money supply. The
three topics I will be discussing are supply side economics, demand side economics, and monetary
policy, and how they affect the economy and why they are important. Supply side economics is a
macroeconomic theory which argues that economic growth can be

Analysis Of Recitatif By Toni Morrison
Songtai Liu ESL Essay Recitatif is a short story that was written by an African American writer Toni
Morrison. It was first published in 1983 in California and it basically tells a story during the late 50s
about of two girls of different races, Twyla and Roberta, meeting each other in different places and
during different time periods. Even though they meet each other constantly. But their thoughts and
mind were keeping changing during the whole story. In fact, I found that Morrison did not clearly
indicate the races of the girls, but I do discover some hints about the races in the story. So I am going
to introduce to you about some interesting evidence that I found in the book to ... Show more content

with the tragedy lining to shake hands, I guess. Roberta s mother looked down at me and then looked

out of line, walking quickly to the rear of it. unquote. This small part of the story made me think that
Twyla and her mother were black immediately. I think so because I noticed that Roberta s mother
refused to shake Twyla and Mary s hand. Moreover, considering the background information that back
in those days, the 50s, there was still a mass amount of racial segregation going on in America.
Furthermore, it is undeniable that all people have stereotypes in their mind, even they may even not
noticed that, and the white people weren t willing to touch and even associate with them because they
just felt the blacks are racially inferior. Therefore, I think Twyla and her mom are both black

Effects Of Poverty On Middle Childhood Development
Poverty can have a strong influence on various kinds of development throughout middle childhood. It
can alter socioemotional development, cognitive development, and physical health. (Evans, 2013).
Parenting practices, neighborhoods, and overall environment play a significant role regarding to the
emotional and physical health during development in middle childhood. Disruption with physical and
emotional health could potentially cause harm to the child. In this essay, I will explain how poverty
affects children throughout development and the different consequences that can occur. I will also
discuss the many different factors that contribute to poverty.
I have found that environment can have a rather serious effect on a person s emotional and physical
growth. Not only that, but children can show signs of developmental issues through academics as
well. All of these issues have been looked at and researched by many different scholars. There are
various data and evidence supporting the fact that poverty has a harsh impact on middle childhood
development. Within the past 20 years poverty rates have risen among children of the United States.
According to Duncan and Brooks Gunn, Poverty rates among U.S. children are one third higher than
they were two decades ago and 1.5 to 4 times as high as the rates for children in Canada and Western
Europe (Rainwater and Smeeding 1995). Rising poverty rates can negatively impact the United States
economy. It is something that has

The Pollution Of Air Pollution
Most people never stop to think about the sanitation of the air around them. The only places that
people ruminate over air quality are largely populated states and cities. One of these places is
California. Ominous clouds of smog and polluted air constantly hover over the citizens. These people
don t ever look up and worry, because smog is a usual appearance. This issue destroys not only the
earth and its atmosphere, but the very center of our lives: our bodies health. Particulate pollutants are
like the retroviruses of the world: well rounded and dangerous. Air pollution is the largest ecological
issue of our time because the contaminated air lingers all over the world constantly being augmented
to, and further threatening the world and those who lives in it. As a state that is car centric, California
has been harassed by air pollution for decades. Even one of California s most famous cities, Los
Angeles, is known for the cloud of smog. National Geographic even comments on the daily emissions
from factories and automobiles in the city saying, In the past 150 years, such activities have pumped
enough carbon dioxide into the atmosphere to raise its levels higher than they have been for hundreds
of thousands of years. ( Air Pollution Facts, Air Pollution Effects, Air Pollution Solutions, Air
Pollution Causes National Geographic. ) California s air pollution levels are at an all time high and
needs to be redressed. Ozone is one of the most dangerous main types of air

  • 3. The Fear and the Need for Nuclear Power  Introduction Despite the fear of nuclear disasters and proliferation of nuclear weapons, the 435 nuclear power reactors around the world produce approximately 16 percent of the world s electricity and 19 percent of electricity in the United States (WIT, 2013). In a world increasingly affected by global warming, with increasing energy consumption, it is important to acknowledge that nuclear power is a safe, clean, reliable, and sustainable source of energy, unlike our presumptions. This paper analyzes potential risks and benefits of nuclear power as a fuel source and why the United States should continue nuclear power production.  How Nuclear Power Works Natural uranium undergoes the steps of mining and milling, conversion, enrichment, and fabrication to convert it from ore to fuel pellets. Uranium isotopes are enriched, separating the fissionable uranium from the unfissionable, and a fuel fabricator presses it into fuel rods (WIT, 2013). The atoms in uranium fuel are split apart to release heat energy, which makes steam and drives a turbine to produce electricity. Used nuclear fuel is stored in a deep pool of water afterward (WIT, 2013). Ther two types of commercial nuclear power plants are boiling water reactors and pressurized water reactors. Out of the 100 reactors in the United States, 65 are pressurized water reactors and 35 are boiling water reactors (IEA). Boiling water reactors heat the water in the reactor vessel directly into steam while pressurized water ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The United States Tennis Association(USTA) was founded in 1881, but the Women s Tennis Association was only started in 1973. Tennis is one of the main sports that has different playing rules with men and women, men play best of five sets and women play best of three sets, meaning that the first person to win six games with at least a difference of two will win that set. A match consists of the person who wins the most games out of five for men and three for women. Women were said to be weaker, by men, because at the first Wimbledon tournament a woman wearing the extremely hot uniforms, that consisted of long multi layered skirts, long sleeved blouses and corsets, passed out during a match. Recently there has been talk about making the the women s matches 5 sets instead of three as long as people are talking about and want it, it can always happen. The oldest wimbledon match played was only available for males to compete. Although it didn t take long for women to join in and that was in 1884. During this time a lot of people saw men as being the stronger sex and more capable, but it only took about six years to add females into the tennis community. • 5. Analysis Of The Film Gibber Eidolon Greetings from the Abyss. The name s Charles Chadwick, and for the last 7 years I have poured thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours of labor into my film Gibber Eidolon. The film is shot entirely on black and white Super8 film, and uses a myriad of techniques. From hand painted film, to video generation loss, to hand processing, to found footage and traditionally shot sequences. The title of the film roughly translates to Babbling Ghost. Babbling from fear or shock. The Gibber Eidolon is a being that is not quite there because it is suffused with terror. Its perspective is of diffused chaos. Concretely, the film is a tour of various San Francisco Bay Area graveyards; almost all of them have residents going back to the 18th and 19th centuries. Also, the film contains live footage of historic computer technology, both operational and not. Found footage/archival footage in this same vein is used as well, in addition to appropriated visual material whose subject matter differs...used mainly for metaphoric illustration. The work contains footage shot over the last 15 years, as well as found footage acquired over a period of roughly 13 years. This movie is first and foremost diaristic. It contains my life: the places I ve been and the way I ve responded to them, and the ideas I ve had along the way. It is a work of spirit. The film also is a collaboration between myself and my dear friend Matthew Bambas, who I ve been working with both on films and music for nearly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To avoid a population explosion among the Hebrews, Pharaoh ordered each newborn son to be thrown into the river. Moses was nevertheless preserved by his mother for the first three months of his life before she finally decided to put him in a rush basket on the river s edge. The Pharaoh s daughter discovered him, rescued him and gave him to a nurse, none other than his own mother. This was because Moses s sister had watched to see who would find the baby, had pretended not to recognize him and then recommended to the Princess a nurse who was really the child s mother. He was treated as one of the Pharaoh s sons and given the name Moses . God ordered Moses to go and find the Pharaoh and lead his brothers out of Egypt. Aaron, Moses s brother, helped him in this task. This is why Moses, once he had returned to Egypt, went with his brother to visit the Pharaoh who was the successor of the king under whose reign he had long ago been born. The Pharaoh refused to allow the Jews in Moses s group to leave Egypt. God revealed Himself to Moses once again and ordered him to repeat his request to Pharaoh. When the word faith comes to mind, it is one that concerns a belief in some power and requires perseverance in that belief. The Mende people certainly showed faith in more ways than one, but an example that is true to the definition mentioned before is one where Cinque and one of his fellow Mende look over the Bible. After examining the pictures, the Mende man pieces together the story of Jesus Christ despite knowing very little English. Through faith, they had grown close enough to consider one another family. Consequently, family is another prevalent theme in La Amistad. Since the opening scene, the Mende people considered themselves as one tribe, one people, and one family. This was shown when Cinque bloodily unlocks his hand and ankle bindings in the bottom of the Amistad, but he does not stop there. With bloody hands and fatigue overcoming him, he draws out extra strength to free his family around him. In doing so, the Mende stay as one unit and work together to complete a successful insurrection against the ship s crew, so that they can reunite with their beloved family members back in Africa. However, rather than standing still and keeping quiet, they bring their home in Africa to America. What have caused this bubble to grow even larger? Speculative borrowing have caused this bubble to pump itself up. Just like in the 1920s the borrowing feeds on itself. This causes inflation of assets and these bubbles are caused by interconnected hedge fund profits that are reliant on high yield sub prime mortgages. Basically this means that people infest in stocks or funds by borrowing money. When people borrow this money they are buying from each other which causes the prices to grow or a better word to use is inflate. That is why the stock market bids could soar by risky private equity deals. So what would happen if they prices fall? If the air comes out of this bubble so does the air of others. My dad no longer talks to me due to me moving out at too young of an age. I moved to the city to be closer to work and school but in his eyes I was sinning. This is also why I think I relate most to Luma. There are other reasons why I think that I relate to Luma. Throughout the whole book, Luma never wants to give up. For example in chapter nine, Get Lost , when Luma knows she has to find a new field for her fugees to play on. According to St John, on page 93, the YMCA calls and lets Luma know they found a field for her. She never gave up on her high hopes. Luma always wanted the best for her players. I am just like Luma, as I never give up on things. My number one struggle I never give up on is my exercise. Luma has a great strength in her hopes. With the view of the minority so firmly permeating society s mind, the voice of the minority falls to the wayside. Simone de Beauvoir, Frantz Fanon, and Michel Foucault all seek to establish a voice for the minority, and a path to freedom and liberation from the dominance of the normalized majority. In her work The Second Sex. De Beauvoir tackles the oppression of women. While not a minority, women are written out of society by a more dominant male society, and experience oppression like that felt by the minority. Like minority groups, women are relegated to a status of otherness in society, which defines them as outside the bounds of the accepted and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Simone de Beauvoir defines the lived experience of women as one of otherness, and from this stems the oppression of women. De Beauvoir explains the lived experiences of women when she states that he is the Subject; he is the Absolute. She is the other. The man constitutes himself at the subject and the absolute, both descriptors place complete emphasis and importance on the man, the women are only relevant in their existence as the other. Since women are presently regulated to the category of the other, humanity is male, and man defines women, not in herself, but in relation to himself; she is not considered an autonomous being. Without a form of autonomy women have no basis for understanding themselves as women. If women must identify themselves through men, there is no way to escape a society in which men are the center of society and women are merely peripheral beings that conflate themselves to the wills and wishes of the more relevant man. De Beauvoir s notion of liberation and freedom called on women to reclaim the category of womanhood to create an autonomous and working woman who can break out of the master slave dynamic created by the ... And the good news is, we all have the opportunity to SHIELD UP! How Do I know if I have the spirit of offense? Before we get into what it means to Shield Up, let s first identify if we have the spirit of offense. Even though we are told in James 1:19 to be slow to take offense, we have seen relationships destroyed and people leave their church family over the spirit of offense. (Block Quote) Understand [this], my beloved brethren. Causes Of Dropouts In The UAE Should I really drop out? he sadly said I think have no other choice, besides I cannot even afford it In the recent years of UAE, a good amount of students are dropping out of universities. Why are the classes getting empty? Where are the students leaving? Setting the education off the priorities is something normal now in the UAE, but from a logical point of view it should not be normal. It is safe to say that increase rate of dropouts can be added to the list of problems that UAE faces. For instance, the American University of Sharjah once showed that 30% of students drop out after the freshmen year, and this is just one university out of many in the UAE. There are many different causes behind this problem for sure. The most important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other words, inflation is striking in all over UAE, and paying for tuition fees is becoming harder than ever. For example, the American University of Sharjah office of registrar stated on the undergraduate catalog of 2010 2011 that the tuition fee per semester is approximately 37,000 dhs whereas the tuition fee per semester of 2016 2017 is about 50,000 dhs. A probable reason why students are dropping out is they come from a poor financial background, where the parents find some difficulties to pay the tuition fees, or they have other expenses to commit to such as rents, debts, and regular consumptions. Furthermore, a second reason could be the lack of earning scholarships or financial aids. In the recent years, universities lean towards to be pickier in the admission of the scholarships; as a result, students are forced to drop out as they rely fully on the scholarships. I would define tax havens as jurisdictions that have sufficient autonomy and most importantly a deliberate interest to write their own tax, finance, and other laws and regulations. It was carried out using questionnaires, distributed by hand to community pharmacists in three boroughs of South West London. The aim of the questionnaire was to achieve a rapid response from a diverse range of community pharmacies. This study had a response rate of 50% (59 out 118 questionnaires were received back) which was lower than originally expected. It would appear that one of the main reasons could be attributed to time restraints of the role as many pharmacists identified that they did not have the time to complete the questionnaire. To further compound the lower than expected completion rate, some of the pharmacists approached were locum pharmacists who were reluctant to participate on the basis of their limited knowledge of the way that particular pharmacy functioned and their lack of familiarity with the community surrounding the pharmacy in which they were working. Another factor which contributed to the low response rate was that some of the returned questionnaires were not fully completed and therefore could not be included in the data analysis. 100% of the respondents provided MUR and NMS services and just over half of the participants 52%, provided post discharge MUR/NMS. Compounds which are made of two rings are known as di aromatics whereas those made of three benzene rings are known as tri aromatics and so forth. As the number of rings increase, molecular weights of these compounds also increase and the compounds tend towards higher thermodynamic stability. Most common examples of PAHs are naphthalene, phenanthrene, pyrene etc. Further, as these compounds become heavier, the particle s size increases and hence these compounds are also known to be pre cursors of soot formation. In this report we will only be studying PAH in the vapour phase whose particle sizes will be restricted to less than 1.5 nm. Following diagram shows the formation of PAH resulting in soot, in a premixed flame. Figure 1: Formation of PAH followed by soot. (Howard originally in Bockhorn) In a study carried out by Y. For this analysis I shall be looking at Shrek 2 and Kung Fu Panda 2, and examining what may make these movies a bit unsuccessful despite their success. Shrek 2 is DreamWorks highest grossing film at $919.8 million worldwide, topping its first film Shrek. This film may be the highest grossing film but what about it may have fallen short? I found the opening of the movie using a storybook to not be as successful as its usage in the first Shrek. The issue of using the storybook may have stemmed from how they transitioned to the actually movie, having the 2D storybook picture of Prince Charming suddenly change into the 3D model was a bit jarring and could have been done better. Using a different way to deliver the opening monologue, or even changing the dialogue so it didn t have to be read as if it were a storybook could have fixed this issue. A White Man s Burden, And Achebe s Things Fall Apart In history, colonization was a truly popular tradition practiced by great and powerful empires in order to extract and retrieve all materials necessary to support their homeland. However, in order to achieve such sense of commerce and well being, those colonists who had the power, had to colonize weaker and far less advanced societies. Great powers such as Britain and France would then travel to these societies and implement their rule in order to gain prosperity. Some, those who benefited from colonization, felt that the practice of colonization was an obligation to better the uncivilized, societies and help them advance, but the emotional and physical hurt that came from colonizing outweighed the positive aspects. The intention was good, but the manner in which colonization was carried out was poor. The first recorded execution in the United States occurred in 1608 in Jamestown, Virginia when Captain George Kendall was executed just one year after the Jamestown settlement had been established after he had been convicted of being a spy for Spain (Part I: History of the Death Penalty). Over the next 250 years, several states moved toward abolishing capital punishment altogether. While there has been serious push towards ending capital punishment, more than half of state governments within the United States cling onto their right to execute criminals who perform truly heinous crimes. While many states have maintained their Constitutional right to perform actions outside of the realm of the Federal government, public opinion of the death penalty began to dwindle within the United States as many of its allies emerged from World War II.
