Coming into community contact week (CCW) I was simultaneously excited and anxious. I was
excited for the adventure side of it and a trip to a place that I hadn t visited before but anxious about
my groups ability to work together due to a lack of vocal enthusiasm and planning prior to the trip.
However, by the time we arrived in Wanganui and had sorted out group dinner for the week I realised
that this group would actually work well together. I found it extremely enjoyable working with

A surprising observation I made of the town itself, was that it was super empty. When comparing it to
my town, it is about double the population but at least half the number of people seen on the streets.

people walking along the riverside, and by a lot I mean about 10 within 10 minutes. I couldn t quite

among all of these schools to include a high percentage of dropouts, a population of almost entirely

teachers, and an excess of students. Kozol also visits schools in the vicinity that are in stark contrast to
the poorest schools. They have an abundance of supplies, space, funds, AP curriculum, extra curricular

The Setting In The Most Dangerous Game
A man falls overboard and is lost at sea. He washes up on a strange island with no means of escape
and no possible way of contacting anyone to rescue him. He is trapped on the island. This is one way
the setting of The Most Dangerous Game enhances the plot by adding suspense, action and mystifying
image in the readers of the setting and adding an atmosphere of mystery.
The first area that the setting enhances the plot is in the feeling of suspense in the story. If the story
hadn t taken in a place with thick forest, a large swamp, and most of all being on an island, this story
wouldn t have as interesting or suspenseful as it is. Since the setting is on an island with only
Rainsford and Zaroff, this gives a feeling of being trapped. As there is no escape but if the story was
on the mainland there would be a much easier means of escape. The forest also adds greatly to the
plot, as without the forest Rainsford could not have hid as well as he did, set many traps to help even
odds, and beat the Zaroff at his own game and ambush him in his own home. Without these key

Due to the fact that age can make it harder to become fluent in a language, his accent never went
away. I did noticed some lexical borrowing when he tried to say something in Spanish, he pretty much

The conflict in Darfur refers to the fighting that is happening in the western region of Sudan known as
Darfur. These fights have been taking place since 2003 and have continued to today. Similarities can
be made to the Rwandan Genocide; there is a government funded and armed militia that is not
officially supported by the government that is killing a local population. The citizens of the region of
Darfur that are being killed are not Arabic, like the majority of the rest of Sudan is, however, they are
more similar in culture and other aspects to the citizens of South Sudan, Sudan s neighboring country
to the south with which Sudan has had multiple wars with. Despite the fact that there is a militia that is
killing citizens, there are also other militias that are fighting for the Darfuri people. These two sides
have been fighting each other for close to ten years. Even though citizens of a certain group are being

For a long time, our nation has been proving their role as couch potatoes. Couch potatoes, people who
are lazy, inactive, or spend their time watching television instead of exercising, have been expanding
in size. There is not a debate of if but a debate of why our nation has succumbed to this form of
laziness. It is true that we are a nation of couch potatoes because most people are lazy, eat too much,
get little exercise, and have formed a habit of being unproductive. Firstly, one cause of becoming a
couch potato is laziness. People are lazy if they are able to do something but are disinclined to do it
because of the effort involved. Instead, they seem to engage in some other, less strenuous or less
boring activity. This can lead to procrastination. To procrastinate is to postpone a task in favour of
other tasks that are typically less important or urgent (Burton). This involves a lack of motivation. For
example, a person is more likely to choose television over a harder job such as exercise. Laziness also
leads to idleness, or the act of doing nothing. In some cases, it seems painful to people to put in effort

expressed through the microcosm of society. Metho Drinker , being an existential work, depicts
Wrights concerns of modern progress and exclusion. Wright exposes the entrapment of both figures
