My Thoughts On My Parent Fears
There is a risk, big or small, when you do something spontaneous. I am no stranger to danger or
outrageous circumstances, unfortunately most of these events happened in my home. I ve been
sheltered all my life as if I was a bird in a caged not allowed to venture out in the world. My parent
fears for my well being and meant well; however, they never expressed it in a healthy way. They ruled
with an iron fist and watched me around the clock. My mom dictated most of my weekdays. For
example: if I have to wait for her on campus, if I could stay for a make up test, or on good rare days if
I was granted time hang out with my friends on campus. My father had total control of my weekends

large a list names go off in my head. When I hear the shower water go on, I know who exactly is in
there. Jorge. I whispered to myself. I look a bit further to the left. The pitch black doorway to my
parent s room was darker than usual like a black hole only allowing my father s loud snores escape. I
tipped toed into the livingroom. I passed by Jorge s mattress and walked to the front door. I gripped
the doorknob and realized the front door could give away my location to my sleeping family with its
creakiness. I retreat backwards into the kitchen s light. I felt the butterflies in my stomach find their

quickly but quietly made my way towards the backyard.
I closed the door behind me as I was greeted by our 3 dogs. I pat them all on their head and walked

Becoming A Television Journalist For A Local News Station
I aspire to become a broadcast journalist for a local news station, an author, and an editor. I plan to
confer the most interesting stories out to the world. I also plan to publish my novel that I am currently
working on along with other fiction stories. Although it is not definite how my journey will begin and
end, I do have a certain path I plan to proceed. First, I want to finish my undergraduate at my dream
school, Temple University in the School of Media and Communications. After I finish my four years
with a strong foundation on being a journalist I want to further my knowledge at Emerson College or
Syracuse University.
My goal is not easy and it also is not cheap. Six years of college for me is not free. During college I
am going to face many financial hardships. For starters, going into my freshman year at Temple
University is going to be rough. Not only did my mother not get a pell grant I also did not qualify for
more than 60% of the scholarships that offered full tuition. I live with my mother and sister. My
mother is an educated women who graduated from Bryant University. As of now she works with Dana
Farber as a computer technician. My mother gets paid good money but she also has to provide for my
sister and I alone. Paying for college is going to be a struggle, but it most definitely is a struggle that is
worth it. I always have conversations with my mother, and I often do feel bad for her having to pay for
me to go to college. I have never been able to have a

Constitutional Law Australia
Constitutional Interpretation: Engineers Case and criticisms of Callinan J in the Workchoices Case.
By Mark Walker
Introduction
In the dissenting judgment made by Callinan J in the landmark New South Wales v Commonwealth (
Workchoices Case ), a strong criticism was mounted against constitutional interpretation methods
employed in the judicial forum. Explicitly, this conjecture was focused at Isaacs J s judgement in
Amalgamated Society of Engineers v Adelaide Steamship Co Ltd ( Engineers Case ), where a
textualism approach to constitutional interpretation was adopted. Callinan J expressed the Engineers
Case as less than satisfactory , using detached language to discredit its literal methodology of
interpreting the constitution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such implied rights are only applicable if they are plainly arising from the text of the Consititution,
rather than assumptions upon which it is based, but which is does not express . This supports a more
recent trend to a purposive approach to interpretation of the constitution.
Summary of current position
The High Court of Australia is essentially focused towards textualism, however as it can be seen there
has been a more current relaxation of the rule in recent years.
Textualism as the preferred methodology of interpretation
Although Callinan J in the Workchoices Case does not give full merit to these justifications, a textual
approach to the interpretation of the constitution expressed in Engineers Case it not without its
reasons. There are numerous considerations that need to be weighed when determining the appropriate
methodology for constitutional interpretation. A major determining factor is the practicability of its
legal application, and its ability to appropriately and fairly resolve issues entrenched in the text of the
constitution. The following arguments provide a support for textualism, and a criticism of other
methodologies.
Progression to textualism as a necessity
Through the progression of history the need for the principles articulated in Engineers Case was both
necessary and appropriate. Callinan J in Workchoices Case made

Egan s Explanation Of Oxygen
According to Egan s, ventilation is the process of moving gas (usually air) in and out of the lungs
Egan s 225). If a patient lungs sounds are normal, the respiratory care practitioner is not concerned
due to decrease in obstruction in the airway. Contrary, if the respiratory care practitioner listens to
sounds like wheezes, stridor, rhonchi, rales, the practitioner is mostly concerned due to the fact that an
increase in obstruction is either in the upper or lower airway. This increase obstruction could lead to
decrease tissue oxygenation by causing tissue hypoxia, cyanosis, stagnant or a disease such as chronic
bronchitis.
Oxygen is the part of the gases that is inhaled by mammals, even though it is not the most abundant in
the atmosphere. This oxygen is the function of the blood and the heart, and it is dissolved in the
plasma PaO2 and chemically bound to hemoglobin SaO2. In fact, for every 100 d/L of blood, 0.003ml
of oxygen is dissolved in the plasma, and 1.34 m l of oxygen is carried in every 100 d/l of blood

When the oxygen molecule meets the hemoglobin, it bounds to the heme group of the hemoglobin and
cooperative binding allows the remaining oxygen molecule to bind to the heme group. According to
the nature web, this picture explain the way gases exchange. First the Oxygen is being inspired frim
the air; the oxygen tension (Po2) in air is 21KPa (159 mmHg), which is a concentration of 21%.When
warmed air arrives in the lungs, it loses some pressure: Po2 = 20 kPa (150 mm Hg). The oxygen
pressure continues to decrease in the circulation: Pa2 = 13 kPa (100 mm Hg) in the averli and 5 kPa
(40 mm Hg) in viens that reach the heart. The oxygen pressure in the tissues then decreases with
increasing distance from the blood vessuls: Po2 = 0.5 2.5 KPa (4 20

Research Paper On Milking A Cow
Milking a cow
Tools, equipment and machinery used for milking a cow
Milking machine: The milking machine is a system consisting out of varies parts that work in
combination with each other to milk a number of cows at the same time. The following parts form the
basic framework of the milking machine.
Claw;
Teatcups;
Milk tubes (many different shapes and sizes);
Pulsator;
Bulk tank
Milking machines are used to extract milk from cows when the herd is larger than about 4 cows. The
milking unit is the portion of a milking machine for removing milk from an udder. It is made up of a
claw, four teatcups, long milk tube, long pulsator tube, and pulsator.
The claw is manifold which connects the short pulse tubes and short milk tubes from ... Show more

The two rigid, stainless steel teatcup shells applied to the front two quarters of the cow are visible. The
top of the flexible liner is visible at the top of the shells as are the short milk tubes and short pulsation
tubes extending from the bottom of the shells to the claw.
The bottom of the claw is transparent to allow visualization of milk flow.
When milking is completed the vacuum to the milking unit is shut off and the teatcups are removed
Milking machines keep the milk enclosed and safe from external contamination. The interior milk
contact surfaces of the machine are kept clean by a manual or automated washing procedure
implemented after milking is completed twice or three times per day.
Milk contact surfaces must comply with regulations ensuring that they are food grade materials
(typically stainless steel and special plastics and rubber compounds) and are easily cleaned.
Most milking machines are powered by electricity but, in case of electrical failure, there can be an
alternative means of motive power, often an internal combustion engine, for the vacuum and milk
pumps because milking cows cannot tolerate delays in their scheduled milking without suffering
serious milk production

Robert Schumann
Robert Schumann lived, died, and spent the majority of his long lived, successful life in Germany;
from 1810, until about 1856. He had originally studied law, but had left to become quite prominent as
a composer, as well as a pianist, and was even an influential music critic of his time. He was and still
is widely regarded as one of the greatest composers of the Romantic era. Schumann left the study of
law, intending to pursue a career as a virtuoso pianist. He had been assured by his teacher Friedrich
Wieck that he could become the finest pianist in Europe, but a hand injury ended this dream.
Schumann then focused his musical energies on composing.

Schumann s wife, the composer and pianist Clara, wrote in her diary about his first visit, that Brahms
was one of those who comes as if straight from God. He played us sonatas, scherzos etc. of his own,
all of them showing exuberant imagination, depth of feeling, and mastery of form ... what he played to
us is so masterly that one cannot but think that the good God sent him into the world ready made. He
has a great future before him, for he will first find the true field for his genius when he begins to write

Unlike Robert s overly dramatic Shakespearean death, Clara Wieck Schumann s death was a bit more
natural, and less theatrical, as she suffered a stroke on the 26th of March 1896; which undoubtedly led
to her death on May 20th, that same year, at the age of 76.
Leibst du um Schönheit ; which translates out to If You Love for Beauty s Sake , was a Romance
composed by Clara Wieck Schumann. It uses a solo voice and piano accompaniment, and is primarily
in strophic form; just like Robert Schumann s Im wunderschönen Monat Mai ( In the Wonderfully
Lovely Month of May ). Little known fact, Clara had composed Leibst du um Schönheit for her
husband; Robert, on his 31st

Metaphors That Poem Means
When writing this poem, it was not an easy easy task but not too hard. When writing metaphorically
and especially a topic where one has strong connections with or lots of knowledge, it s like a journal
where we write our feelings. Likewise, I wrote the poem like that. I wanted it to hide the true
meanings beneath the phrases that the reader may be confused about. However, when uncovering the
meaning it will be much easier to understand and I hope the readers will understand the metaphors
used in the poem is the best way to portray the theme.
I initially started with the color blue to base my poem upon. I brained stormed the different concrete
example of blue things. Then I chose the most symbolic and the ones that carry a lot of emotion with

belonging. However, the speaker takes the jeans off to represent that he or she will enter somewhere

out of their comfort zone and they are frightened. However, they don t realize their afraidness until
they see their reflection the mirror which transitions to the third stanza. The more dark and sad side of
death takes place. I mention two pools which are the color of their eye reflecting their fear. I created

association I wanted to come up with. Similarly, the last line of the stanza states the blood is churning

Descriptive Essay On The Curse
The Curse Which Still Lived
It was a depressing and grey afternoon. James had just turned twenty five, and as adventurous as he
was, he anxiously waited for a task. Next thing he knew, he has found himself scrolling on an LED
screen which entranced him as if he knew nothing more. There he sat, alone in his dusty old room
looking through various websites for interesting locations near him. His fingers stopped with a jerk. A
picture of a castle intrigued him as he stared at the blinding screen. The location was on an island
north of Canada, only about an hour and a half from his hometown near Nunavut. Four words caught
his eyes underneath the section titled Description . The curse never dies, it wrote. This didn t deter
James in the slightest. The next morning James pulled himself out of bed and got ready. The day was
bright and warm with very few clouds in the sky; the fresh scents of summer filled his nostrils as he
prepared to embark on this adventure. For one hour and thirty minutes James drove through the
constant stretch of road until he reached something. It was a boat ramp, but something was off. The
ramp had been consumed by the elements of nature and time and floating near the ramp was an old
wooden paddle boat engraved with the words Katherine Rogers on the side. It seemed to have been
there only a couple weeks. James carefully boarded the small paddle boat and made his way north,
where at a distance, a island could be spotted with a castle like structure

What Cats Should Eat Essay
Many cat owners assume they know what their beloved cats are supposed to eat by reading the
nutrition label on the cat food bags and comparing to what they know about basic human nutrition.
But is that really what they should be doing? The nutrients that cats need is different from what
humans need, and by imposing a cat owner s nutritional views on their cat may be unfair to the cat s
health. What cats eat has a huge effect on the quality of the cat s life. A cat s diet is affected by
commercial cat food makers and cat owners. A bad decision on their behalf can lead to deadly
consequences for the cat. Most domestic cats are fed generic cat food from the local grocery or pet
stores. Others are fed the usually more expensive food from the ... Show more content on

Another study that was conducted in 2012 found that it didn t matter how the cat obtained the
nutrients, but that cats preferred food with more nutrients than food with less nutrients. These cats
were feed liquid nutritional supplement (Vebrugghe). Since cats prefer more nutritious food, it is
probably safe to assume that they know on an evolutionary level that more nutrients are better for
them than fewer nutrients. In the 1958 study, once a cat became sick, the scientists attempted to bring
the cats back to health. The cats that developed severe anorexia died, but the cats who suffered only
from hair loss had their fur grow back once the removed riboflavin was replaced in their diets
(Gershoff). The study also found that cataracts could be developed in cats from a lack of
carbohydrates in their diets (Gershoff). Now more than ever is a good time to learn about the dangers
of malnutrition in cats because human fad diets are often pushed onto the family cat as well. Vegan
diets can be devastating to one s health if the proper vitamins and supplements are not taken. Most
amino acids that humans need come from meats and many fruits and vegetables hold very little true
nutritional value to the human diet. The same is true for cats however there is one major difference:
humans are omnivores, cats are not. Cats are carnivores, which means that they only eat meat (Veggie
Cat Food). They are not evolutionarily suited to eat

addition, the explanation of why the situation presents a dilemma and what is the expected ethical
behavior are also provided. Finally, the essay also contains the description of both unfavorable and
positive outcomes that are possible in this ethical situation. Example of an Ethical Dilemma During a
routine radiology procedure a radiologic technologist finds it very clear that the patient has a rare form
of bone disease. However, the doctor after casually glancing at the image comes to a conclusion that
there is nothing wrong with the patient, and the pain that the patient is complaining about is just a
common pain, that will go away without any medication or procedure. What can the radiologic

Who is to choose in this situation? The problem of conflicting professional duties is also present in
this case. On one side, the doctor is a professional colleague within the same hospital, and also the
expert in understanding the radiographic image and diagnosing the problem. A radiologic technologist
should not cross the professional boundary by questioning the doctor about his/her diagnosis. On the
other hand, it is the right of the patient to know the real problem, and get the medical care that he/she
deserves. Especially in case of radiologic procedures, the patient has no way of determining whether
the procedures have been performed properly or not. The consequence of the misdiagnosis by a doctor
can even be life threatening for the patient, if the appropriate medical care is not provided at the
correct time. Expected Ethical

Hurricane Mitch Research Paper
In late October of 1998, Hurricane Mitch landed in Central America, claiming the lives of more than
11,000 people, and causing more than $5 billion in damages of homes, and businesses. Hurricane
Mitch was considered the most ferocious hurricane to hit the Western Hemisphere in over 200 years.
Hurricane Mitch began as a tropical depression on October 22, 1998. Four short days later, on October
26, it had intensified into a Category 5 hurricane. Winds had reached 180 mph, and gusts were
reaching up to 200 mph. First, this hurricane landed on the island of Honduras on the date of October
29. It moved through Central America, and finally reached Florida as a tropical storm on November 4
5. The islands of Honduras and Nicaragua were hit extremely hard by Mitch. In Honduras, entire
villages were washed away by the heavy rainfall causing mudslides and floods. The intensity of the
rain was nearly 75 inches. Nearly all crops were destroyed. The Hurricane also left many affects on
Nicaragua. In one specific area called Posoltega, more than 2,000 people were caught in a huge
mudslide. Many other nations were affected by this hurricane but the death tolls in these places were
much lower and insignificant than Honduras and Nicaragua. In total, 11,000 people died, which places
this storm as the most deadly storm since the Great Hurricane of 1780. Besides the deaths, many

The Great Hunger And The Irish Potato Famine
Intro The Great Hunger, Great Famine, the dreaded calamity, or if your outside of Ireland the Irish
Potato Famine. Occurring between 1847 1852, the famine claimed the lives of around one million
people and caused millions to flee Ireland, in order to escape the bleak situation it was. Today I will be
giving some background of life in Ireland before the famine started of the average citizen, I will
briefly discuss the pathogen that killed the potato crop, the government response to the famine, the
overall consequences and reactions of the Irish people, and finally I will discuss the ethical dilemmas
that the famine raise.
Slide one Land Ownership Starting off I would like to explain what life was like for the average Irish
citizen in the mid 19th century. Most people were tenant agriculture farmers who worked for
landlords, who owned vast estates, but a great deal of them didn t, in fact, live in Ireland, which lead
to them being commonly referred to as absentee landlords. The landlords allotted workers small plots
of land to grow their own food in exchange for working the land growing grain cash crops. In order to
sustain a high calorie diet for themselves and their families, most of these tenant farmers grew
potatoes. This was primarily due to the fact you get a lot of bang for your buck from potatoes as they
yielded quite a bit of calories per acre. Outside of what the tenants ate, Ireland produced quite a bit of
food but this was mostly exported to England where

Behaviourists explain maladaptive behaviour in terms of the learning principles that sustain and
maintain it. Discuss this statement and show how a behaviourists approach to therapy is in stark
contrast to a psychoanalytic one
Behaviorism was originally founded by John B. Watson who believed that behavior had the means to
be measured, trained and changed (1913) The Behavioural theory is firstly based on experiment and
secondly by describing how human behaviour is learnt through principles and rules. Maladaptive
behaviour is when an individual is unable to adjust to situations; psychologists use this term to
describe patterns of emotional disturbance. Both behavioural and psychoanalytic psychologists use

The salivation was now the conditioned response. The dog learnt the association between the food and
the bell and the conditioned response was now the learnt behaviour. Pavlov (1927)Watson and Rayner
(1920) extends Pavlov s study as they wanted to see if it applied to humans as well as animals, they
done this with their little albert experiment. Albert was a nine month old infant, he was tested on his
reactions to various stimuli, he was shown a white rat, and a rabbit, a monkey and various masks, and
he showed no fear to any of these stimuli. They noticed that if a hammer was struck against at steel
bar behind his head he would be startled and he would burst into tears. The noise was the
unconditioned stimuli and Albert crying was the unconditioned response. When Albert was 11 months
old the white rat was presented and seconds later the hammer was struck against the steel bar. This
was done repeatedly over the next 7 weeks, making Albert burst into tears. The white rat was the
neutral stimuli, when paired with the noise it became the conditioned stimuli. When Albert saw the rat
he would show fear and cry. Albert learnt the association between the rat and the noise creating a
phobia. Watson and Rayner (1920)
Systematic desensitisation is a technique associated with classical conditioning; this can be used to

response for a conditioned one. If

Salt in Moderation is Good for the Body
Salt in moderation is actually good for the body. It helps with certain stomach acids, maintains the
balance of fluids, helps in transmitting nerve impulses, and helps muscle control. The kidneys balance
the amount of salt stored by the body for optimum health. If, however, too much sodium is stored in
the body, and the kidneys cannot get rid of it properly; it will cause serious health complications.
Over use of table salt contributes leads to retaining fluid in the body, which in turn contributes to high
blood pressure and heart disease. These are only some of the complications occurring with overuse of
salt. Brittle bones and kidney disease are other examples of consuming too much salt.
The average person needs only 1,500 mg of salt in their daily diet but consumes 3,500 mg of salt or
more every day. Some people do not realize that processed foods and fast foods are very high in salt
and salt additives. For example, pizza, and cold cuts, bacon, and even bread contain high amounts of
salt. Some natural foods contain salt like vegetables and dairy products. Using table salt for cooking
and flavoring foods can have as mc as 1,000 mg of salt in one tablespoon of soy sauce and other
condiments, which are added after cooking. Using sea salt together with different herbs and spices
help lower amount of salt consumed every day and, by using herbs and spices to substitute salt
completely, one can develop better flavor. Natural herbs have many health benefits. Take

The Foundations Of The Canons
The Foundations of the Canons John 14: 26 states but the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father
will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said
to you (). This verse is an explanation from Christ about the role of the Holy Spirit in teaching and
recalling events that took place during his time on earth. It is through the witness of the Spirit that man
can determine the wheat from the chaff. () The early church had the writing of the Old Testament but
did not have a formal set of canonized books regarding the Messiah to draw their inspiration from.
Though they had letters from Apostles there were many heretical writings that were circulating
throughout the lands that were teaching doctrine different from those who knew Christ personally.
Josephus stated that no one had been bold enough to add, take away, or change the wording in the Old
Testament scripture (), this was what the Church was looking for in forming a canon that related to the
teaching of Christ; a type of written text that would be foundational therefore no one would want to
take away or add to it. The early church was using the four Gospels and the letters of many of the
Apostles in their church teachings. The churches focused on the importance of the authors being in a
first hand relationship or direct correlation to a disciple such as Mark was to Peter and Luke was to
Paul (). The Apostles took some time to write down their experiences because

To determine the acceleration of the pendulum, the equation for the period of a pendulum was used.
Acceleration was derived so that g = L / (T / 2)2 (Appendix C Figure 1). The variable L represents the
length of the pendulum to the center of mass, T represents the period of the pendulum, or the time of a
full swing, and g represents the pendulum s acceleration due to Earth s gravity. In measuring the
length of the pendulum, measuring tolerances occurred. The length of the pendulum was found to be
0.450 m, however because a meter stick was used, this measurement is inaccurate by +/ 0.001 m.
Furthermore, L represents the distance to the center of mass of the pendulum. L was measured as the

considered negligible in calculations for L, but because it had a small mass, the center of mass was not
exactly at the center of the pendulum weight. This added additional measurement errors and
inaccuracies in the calculations for finding g. Air resistance, which is affected by surface area, drag,
and velocity, was not accounted for in the calculations. However, the effects of air resistance are
negligible because of the small surface area, drag, and velocity of the pendulum. Due to these sources

What Is The Purpose Of The Alchemist By Paulo Coelho
Analysis on Purpose in the Works of Paulo Coelho Every person has pondered or will at one time
ponder the question of their purpose in life. This is simply because purpose is the sole reason for
existence, so a person must contemplate the question in order to go about their days. And everybody
that has gone looking for the answer, has come back empty handed. The universe allows for life but it
doesn t leave the slightest clue as to why it was provided. It s true that if a person looks to the
universe, they won t find any answer, but what they will find is endless amount of interpretations. And
in this way the universe can take a person on an introspective journey to find their own interpretation.

Realizing one s purpose can be a journey in itself. In two of Coelho s novels: The Alchemist and The
Pilgrimage, he writes of miraculous journeys. In The Alchemist, a boy named Santiago is faced with
fork in his life and must decide how he interprets his own purpose. In The Pilgrimage, A man named
Paulo is very clear on his purpose, but faces many tribulations to realize it. Coelho s writings not only
shows the importance of finding one s own interpretation, but also give uplifting messages about the
hope and perseverance necessary in accomplishing the purpose. In the beginning of The Alchemist, a
very interesting perspective is given on how to interpret one s purpose. Santiago was happy being
shepard and even had the rest of his life mapped out. After years of roaming with his herd he was
beginning to become ready to settle down, and perhaps go to the down of a girl he loved with the
inclination to stay there. But, he had always had a confusing, recurring dream that there was treasure
far away in Egypt. And not only that, after telling this dream to a gypsy, she had told him that he must
go seek out this treasure. Santiago found himself looking at two different paths he could take. One
path was extremely easy and led him only to the next town over, but also promised him

develop new identities to escape the FBI. Sandy talking to Birdie, she confuses her as to why she has
to portray herself as white rather then her normal self. Sandy says, The FBI would be looking for a
white woman on the lam with her black child. But the fact that I could pass, she explained, with my
straight hair, pale skin, my general phenotypic resemblance to the Caucasoid race, would throw them

A Penny Saved
A penny saved is a penny earned is one of the most well known sayings in American culture, or,
perhaps, used to be one of the most well known sayings in America. According to Jenny Che, an
associate business editor at The Huffington Post, America has a serious problem when it comes to
financial literacy and the problem starts with the kids in the school system who are not being taught
how to manage money. Che states in her April 2016 blog post titled, America Is Not Teaching Kids
How To Manage Money. And That s A Problem, that the United States was ranked far lower than most
people would expect when it comes to financial literacy, and little is being done to resolve this issue.
Through alarming observations and data, Che successfully makes her point: America is not integrating
financial curriculum into their education system, and this must change. Although Che s post is fewer
than 500 words, she presents an impressive amount of well supported information. A large portion of
her post focuses on recent studies and research to back her argument, building ethos. All of the sources
have been published in very recent years, adding a consistent and current time period to her argument.
She poses statistics such as the amount of debt American students have accumulated, the staggering
number of people who are behind on their loan payments, and the small number of schools who are
actively incorporating financial education curriculum into their system. She references an extensive

Similarities And Differences Between Thomas More And Utopia
Plato s The Republic and Thomas More s Utopia are both influential texts duringearly socialist period
which explore philosophsical and moral discussions of justice, injustice and freedom in an intension to

Utopia is patterned after Plato s Republic.(Thomas, 1982). Therefore, More was mostly influnenced
by Plato s values and ideas demonstrated in The Republic and borrowed these to write his idealistic
society Utopia, as a roughly framework. Meanwhile, More s Utopia as well as exhibits his own

comparing and contrasting his ideas with that of Plato. More s ideal society concentrated on the main
spirit of equality and justice whereas Plato s desired Republic revolved around the formation of
perfect society, philosopher king leadership to govern the society. Despite More s Utopia was being
written approximately a millennium apart from Plato s The Republic , More simultaneously

Four Major Sociological Paradigms
The four major sociological theoretical paradigms are; structural functional, social conflict, symbolic
interaction, and postmodern perspectives.
Structural functional paradigm is based on the system being stable, where most of the community
believe in the same set of values, beliefs and behavioral expectations (Kendall, 2017, p. 17). Society
has put together social structures that play a large role in aiding in the survival of the society. These
social structures include; family, education, government, religion as well as the economy. If something
unfavorable happens to any of these social structures then the system cannot work properly.
Social conflict is where various groups in society are embarked in a struggle for power or control of
scarce resources (Kendall, 2017, p. 18). It could be in politics and litigation, as well as negotiation, or
even financial issues within the family. It is recognizing the importance of economic conditions which

Symbol is defined as anything that meaningfully represents something else, such as gestures, written
language, values which are shared, as well as signs. It is the interaction that which happens when
individuals communicate using symbols. These interactions could include, facial gestures, tonality of
one s voice, a person s posture. A good example of symbolic interaction is mentioned in our readings,
where if someone yells fire! into a crowd at a movie theater, it generates a response, which is to find

Meanings Are Transmitted Throughferred On By...
Whatever the implications of poems are, its meanings are transmitted throughferred on by
significations and undertones as well as by the writer s game plan of words into expressions,
conditions, and sentences to accomplish specific impacts. The organization of words into significant
verbal arrangements is called sentence structure or syntax. An artist can control the sentence structure
of a line to place stress on a word. This is particularly clear when a writer changes the typical word
order (Weaver, 2014). Word Choice When constructing a poem, the author is very careful in the choice
of words they may use and how they arrange those words. The author/poet uses word tools such as
tone, diction (formal and informal), colloquialism, , denotations and connotations, and whatever
jargons were used during the author specific timeframe. Tone Tone is the author s demeanor toward
the subject, the state of mind made by the greater part of the components that are within the poem.
Composing, similar to dialog, can be portrayed as genuine or light, miserable or glad, private or open,
furious or tender, sharp or nostalgic, or by whatever other states of mind and sentiments that
individuals experience (Weaver, 2014). Diction Like every good writer, poets are distinctly mindful of
lingual authority, their decision of words they utilize. Writers pick words particularly painstakingly on
the grounds that the words in their poems may point to themselves. Poems are generally less lengthy

Term Limit Essay
John Dingell, a member of the United States House of Representatives, served fifty nine years and
twenty one days at this position. With no term limits set for the federal legislative positions in the
United States, is this representation becoming redundant? Term limits can potentially be crucial in
political reform of the United States that would bring new perspectives to federal legislative positions,
warrant regular federal legislative turnover, and reduce incentives for wasteful election related federal
spending. Term limits can also pervert the entire understanding of what democracy is, by substituting

officials within the Arkansas state government, the amendment also stated that any person having

would no longer be eligible for re election as a United States Representative from Arkansas. The
amendment also provided that any person who has served two or more terms as a member of the

Constitution. Using the residual clause, Arkansas argued that the states had the power to limit terms.
The Supreme Court, in a five to four decision, ruled against Arkansas. The court justified their ruling
by showing that the Constitution prohibits states from adopting Congressional qualifications in

The Effects of Video and Video Games on Children
The process of animation can be defined as a series of drawings, photographs, or images constructed
in a computer program in order to form a scene or action, usually in a cartoon, movie, or video game.
For many of us, Disney is where we refer back to early forms of animation with the idea of using
thousands of consecutive drawings; through Disney, we can now see how far this idea of breathing life
into static objects has advanced. Today, animation is becoming more and more realistic. With highly
advanced technology and computer programs, it has become easier for simple cartoons to develop into
what children see as real life. These animated cartoons and movies are surrounding our youth every
where and it is important to observe the effects of increasingly realistic animation on children and
their perspective on life brought on by advancing technology and computer programs, for some of
these effects pose a negative threat. Through exposing and observing these possible threats, the people
involved in a child s life can perform what is necessary to avoid them.
In order to clearly define what effects are occurring and how, a brief history of animation and the way
it is done today must be defined. Animation s beginning can be found in France; it started as a series
of pictures drawn directly onto what is know as a celluloid, an idea made by Émile Reynaud. As
animation continued to grow in popularity throughout most of the 1900s, techniques remained chained

Background Of An Authorised Firearms Officer
Chapter 1
Background
When an authorised firearms officer in the police is involved in a shooting, procedures and guidelines
are firmly incorporated to ensure that investigations are thoroughly carried out. However, most police
officers in England and Wales will never possess a firearm, face a gun or discharge one as this
supports the ideology that police officers in England and Wales have no desire to carry a firearm
routinely (Rostker, 2008, p. 78)
It is not a common occurrence for a weapon to be discharged in any firearms incident in England and
Wales, for example if a firearm is discharged following an alert, over half the rounds fired are believed
to miss their intended target and of those people hit by a round, more than half survive (Punch, 2011,
p. 1). A similar situation also exists in the United States of America.
The United States are viewed in the Western society as extreme in relation to weapons and violence
because of its high police response rates to its widespread strong gun culture (Crank, 1998, p. 152).
The United States will be introduced as a comparator to this research as it is already highly compared
to other societies where the sale of weapons and its regulation is minimal, with only local law
enforcement agencies setting the policy with no national policing system.
A report released in 2012 by the Federal Bureau of Investigation stated that 410 Americans were
lawfully killed by the police with only one victim unarmed (2013). However, during

Negative Effects Of Technology In Family Life
It is now possible to earn a college degree from home. Making it possible for anyone to attend a
college that could not make it to a campus in person. Most Universities and colleges offer degree
programs that can be earned online. Students can fit school into their schedules easier because course
material is available anywhere at any time (Irby Li, 2008). In the past, it was challenging for people,
especially older adults, to fit college into their busy schedules. People that had full time jobs and
families just did not have the time to fit college into their busy lives, even if they wanted to.
Technology has allowed people to work towards a college degree while working full time and caring
for their families. Some jobs offer incentives for their employees to return to college, which can help
them advance in their career; therefore earning more money. Older college students are finding this
method of college more attractive over the traditional campus classes, which is an incredible benefit
for people and their families. People are now able to keep in contact with people through social media
sites and text messaging. The negative impacts are often discussed how technology has interfered in
family life, but there are positive benefits to families, too. A recent study revealed that the majority of
families feel that technology has affected their relationships in positive ways (McDaniel Coyne,
2016). Couples are now able to communicate throughout their day while they are

Buddhist teachings and tradition strongly emphasize the ideas of virtue, kindness and compassion.
These ideals are at the core of Buddhist tradition and they exemplify right ways of living in relation to

current Refugee Crisis, and provide us with salient understandings and conceptions of how to directly
deal with the influx of refugees from a moral and virtuous center. In regards to the responses that both
Canada and the USA have taken, Buddhist teachings can shed light onto how these approaches are

Co Operative Education And Traditional Education

people must experience in life. So that, the choices associated with major, future job or kind of

As evidence of this, according to Learning to Learn, College teachers have expressed frustration about
attendance in class, uncompleted reading assignments, and student focus on grades rather than

value of what they are learning, and that many faculty rely too heavily on lectures for transmitting
information (Wirth and Perkins 2 3). Moreover, the rote learning style, which is the memorization of
information based on repetition, though might not understand basic content deeply or may

Duality Of Apollo And Dionysus
This is particularly evident in the Ecce Homo s passages devoted to the duality of Apollo and
Dionysus. Here Nietzsche openly attacks this concept as a crypto Hegelian idea ruling over the course
of history. Moreover, he brands the same with the here clearly negative label of metaphysicslii. Thus,
as of 1888 and just before his eventual psychological collapse, we can see how Nietzsche chastised
some of his own early positions in the same way he did with Socratism . These too are now nothing
but expressions of dogmatic and one sided blindness, and thus obstacles to the necessary self
overcoming of humanity. However, we might ask how these criticisms square with the appreciative

What changes is rather the understanding of art s content what in the late stages of his work Nietzsche
calls the Wisdom of Dionysus , an expression he already employs in BTlvii. However, now this
wisdom is not a source of consolation anymore, but rather of an attitude pushing toward the
affirmative overcoming of oneselflviii. This wisdom, flows from a proper metaphysical understanding
of life, which is now finally unbounded by any suspect metaphysical duality. Hence, I hold that it is
not too daring to see in this wisdom a new unblinded metaphysics that the author resorts to herald in
his 1880 s writings, and which also springs from the Will, now conceived as Will to Power. If now the
tension of Apollo and Dionysus falls in the field of Socratism , we can still see in the satyrs chorus an
anticipation of Nietzsche s later themes as he himself aknowledges toward the end of the Attempt to

metaphysical framework smelling of Socrates or even Hegel, but rather in the drive of the Will to

Lean Manufacturing Is An Approach
Introduction Lean Manufacturing is an approach taken by manufacturing organization to increase
efficiency through optimization and maximize customer value while minimizing waste. Traditionally,
Lean principles were applied to manufacturing industries especially automotive companies. However,
with the success in automotive industry, it no longer limited to automotive sector and can be applied in
other manufacturing sectors as well as services industries (Balle, et al., 2006). The drivers for
implementing Lean in both manufacturing and service sectors are customer demands for better quality
products and services, managerial demands for cost reduction and sustaining in an increasing market
competitiveness. Lean implementation and various success stories has led companies worldwide to
introduce lean in their operations and services but majority of these companies achieved only modest
levels of success (Womack Jones, 2003). It is reported that many organizations are not able to
transform themselves to lean organization and thus at some point of time, lean implementation is
destined to fail (Farris, et al., 2009). Some of the main factors for lean failures are poor
communication, lack of strong leadership, lack of learning, staff resistance to change, and lack of clear
direction (Emiliani Stec, 2005). Researchers have argued that transition to lean environment and
sustaining lean improvements requires cultural change in the organization rather than changing the

Significant Changes In The Forager Society
When humans transitioned from foragers to farmers, there were a few noticeable changes.
Materialistic values emerged. People became kinder and less kind simultaneously as sharing and
violence became less commonplace. More structure started to evolve in the society as it was necessary
to establish leaders. Energy consumption increased and was spent on work instead of travelling to
areas of abundance. Although some of these differences may not seem drastic, there was and is a
considerable difference between the ways the lifestyles are lead. In the forager society, travel was
necessary to survive. Although this did not allow people to possess many physical belongings, it also
provided basic essentials without a large amount of work. Hunters would kill deer, feed their
community, and shortly move on to the next place with a high deer population. The women would
gather berries and again share. There were limited ways to store food, so abundances were spread
amongst the community to avoid waste. Labor and skills were divided equally because there were few
people in each travelling group. Overall, foragers shared, had ... Show more content on

structure and a willingness to compromise in order to avoid conflict that wasn t present in foraging

were not accustomed to living in close proximity for long periods of time and as a result, early
farming societies were often brutal in their lifestyles, with hard work and fear being the center place.

Qualitative amp; Quantitative Research Methods
There are two types of research methods: qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative research methods
are complex meaningful analyses characterized by processes and meanings that are not measured in
terms of mathematical measurements. Quantitative research however, relies and builds on
mathematical procedures and methods, such as frequency, quality, amount and statistical procedure.
There are unique characteristics which distinguish one research process from the other.

Because the data obtained by qualitative and quantitative research methods are different, they must be
evaluated differently also.
In order to ensure the quality and establish the trustworthiness of qualitative data, researchers may call
upon their peers to evaluate the narrative in order to determine if there are inconsistencies,
contradictions, or other instances of researcher bias (researcher proving only that which they choose or
anticipate)(Smith amp; Davis, 2010). Additionally, qualitative researchers also indicate the procedures
they used to validate data. This process is called confirmability. In addition to confirmability,
qualitative researchers are also concerned with credibility. Credibility refers to the accuracy of the
study. Because qualitative research is social or human in nature, it is best to allow the subjects of the
study determine accuracy. However, quantitative data is evaluated in a different manner.
In order to ensure that quantitative data is obtained from an acceptable instrument, it is necessary to
determine the validity and reliability of the instrument being used. It is important to minimize
subjectivity in quantitative research. The researcher must ensure that the surveys, questionnaires, and
tests, used are not open for interpretation or the results may be skewed. Researchers can verify the
usefulness of an instrument through validity and reliability. Validity refers to the extent to

The Theme of Lord of the Flies Essay
When a group of children become stranded on a deserted island, the rules of society no longer apply to
them. Without the supervision of their parents or of the law, the primitive nature of the boys surfaces.
Consequently, the boys live without luxury that could have been obtained had they maintained a
society on the island. Instead, these young boys take advantage of their freedom, and life as they knew
it deteriorates. Lord of the Flies is influenced by the author s life and experiences. Golding s outlook

A rule is made that the boys will work as a group to build the huts for protection from weather and to
act as a home for the littl uns. The boys ignore the task and become preoccupied with hunting,
swimming and eating, leaving the huts unfinished and rank. Therefore, the neglecting of the shelters is
an example of the deterioration of rules in the novel.
Deterioration is also shown when Jack alters the use of fire. The rule that Ralph, the leader, makes at
the beginning of the novel is that Jack and the other choir boys have a duty to keep the signal fire
going at all times. When a ship passes, Ralph is enraged to find that Jack let the fire burn out; Jack
breaks his promise and the rule. As a result, the boys on the island are unnoticed and fail to be rescued
by the ship; there is no fire smoke to signal it. Although the intentions of the fire are good, Jack causes
chaos when he uses it against Ralph. At the end of the novel Jack sets the whole island on fire in order
to kill Ralph. quot; They had smoked him out and set the whole island on fire quot; (Golding, p.197).
The fire that at one point symbolizes hope, has now turned to destruction. When the savage instincts
are controlled by civilization it leads to good, but when they are out of control it leads to evil. Thus,
Jack abuses the advantage of fire and his actions contribute the deterioration of rules.

  • 4. My Thoughts On My Parent Fears There is a risk, big or small, when you do something spontaneous. I am no stranger to danger or outrageous circumstances, unfortunately most of these events happened in my home. I ve been sheltered all my life as if I was a bird in a caged not allowed to venture out in the world. My parent fears for my well being and meant well; however, they never expressed it in a healthy way. They ruled with an iron fist and watched me around the clock. My mom dictated most of my weekdays. For example: if I have to wait for her on campus, if I could stay for a make up test, or on good rare days if I was granted time hang out with my friends on campus. My father had total control of my weekends and had the last say in everything. As I grew up, I ... My grandparents door was closed as usual. I looked to my left. The light under the bathroom door illuminated the dark hallway. The shadow is large a list names go off in my head. When I hear the shower water go on, I know who exactly is in there. Jorge. I whispered to myself. I look a bit further to the left. The pitch black doorway to my parent s room was darker than usual like a black hole only allowing my father s loud snores escape. I tipped toed into the livingroom. I passed by Jorge s mattress and walked to the front door. I gripped the doorknob and realized the front door could give away my location to my sleeping family with its creakiness. I retreat backwards into the kitchen s light. I felt the butterflies in my stomach find their way to my throat. I had no idea what I was going to do. I plug in my headphones and played my NiteTimezJamz3 Playlist to help me relax. I quickly braided my hair and stuffed into my hoodie. I quickly but quietly made my way towards the backyard. I closed the door behind me as I was greeted by our 3 dogs. I pat them all on their head and walked over to the gate. I got to my knees and say my goodbyes to our 3 dogs. I let myself out the gate. • 5. Becoming A Television Journalist For A Local News Station I aspire to become a broadcast journalist for a local news station, an author, and an editor. I plan to confer the most interesting stories out to the world. I also plan to publish my novel that I am currently working on along with other fiction stories. Although it is not definite how my journey will begin and end, I do have a certain path I plan to proceed. First, I want to finish my undergraduate at my dream school, Temple University in the School of Media and Communications. After I finish my four years with a strong foundation on being a journalist I want to further my knowledge at Emerson College or Syracuse University. My goal is not easy and it also is not cheap. Six years of college for me is not free. During college I am going to face many financial hardships. For starters, going into my freshman year at Temple University is going to be rough. Not only did my mother not get a pell grant I also did not qualify for more than 60% of the scholarships that offered full tuition. I live with my mother and sister. My mother is an educated women who graduated from Bryant University. As of now she works with Dana Farber as a computer technician. My mother gets paid good money but she also has to provide for my sister and I alone. Paying for college is going to be a struggle, but it most definitely is a struggle that is worth it. • 6. Constitutional Law Australia Constitutional Interpretation: Engineers Case and criticisms of Callinan J in the Workchoices Case. By Mark Walker Introduction In the dissenting judgment made by Callinan J in the landmark New South Wales v Commonwealth ( Workchoices Case ), a strong criticism was mounted against constitutional interpretation methods employed in the judicial forum. Explicitly, this conjecture was focused at Isaacs J s judgement in Amalgamated Society of Engineers v Adelaide Steamship Co Ltd ( Engineers Case ), where a textualism approach to constitutional interpretation was adopted. Callinan J expressed the Engineers Case as less than satisfactory , using detached language to discredit its literal methodology of interpreting the constitution. ... Such implied rights are only applicable if they are plainly arising from the text of the Consititution, rather than assumptions upon which it is based, but which is does not express . This supports a more recent trend to a purposive approach to interpretation of the constitution. Summary of current position The High Court of Australia is essentially focused towards textualism, however as it can be seen there has been a more current relaxation of the rule in recent years. Textualism as the preferred methodology of interpretation Although Callinan J in the Workchoices Case does not give full merit to these justifications, a textual approach to the interpretation of the constitution expressed in Engineers Case it not without its reasons. There are numerous considerations that need to be weighed when determining the appropriate methodology for constitutional interpretation. A major determining factor is the practicability of its legal application, and its ability to appropriately and fairly resolve issues entrenched in the text of the constitution. The following arguments provide a support for textualism, and a criticism of other methodologies. Progression to textualism as a necessity Through the progression of history the need for the principles articulated in Engineers Case was both necessary and appropriate. • 7. Egan s Explanation Of Oxygen According to Egan s, ventilation is the process of moving gas (usually air) in and out of the lungs Egan s 225). If a patient lungs sounds are normal, the respiratory care practitioner is not concerned due to decrease in obstruction in the airway. Contrary, if the respiratory care practitioner listens to sounds like wheezes, stridor, rhonchi, rales, the practitioner is mostly concerned due to the fact that an increase in obstruction is either in the upper or lower airway. This increase obstruction could lead to decrease tissue oxygenation by causing tissue hypoxia, cyanosis, stagnant or a disease such as chronic bronchitis. Oxygen is the part of the gases that is inhaled by mammals, even though it is not the most abundant in the atmosphere. This oxygen is the function of the blood and the heart, and it is dissolved in the plasma PaO2 and chemically bound to hemoglobin SaO2. Most people were tenant agriculture farmers who worked for landlords, who owned vast estates, but a great deal of them didn t, in fact, live in Ireland, which lead to them being commonly referred to as absentee landlords. The landlords allotted workers small plots of land to grow their own food in exchange for working the land growing grain cash crops. In order to sustain a high calorie diet for themselves and their families, most of these tenant farmers grew potatoes. This was primarily due to the fact you get a lot of bang for your buck from potatoes as they yielded quite a bit of calories per acre. If, however, too much sodium is stored in the body, and the kidneys cannot get rid of it properly; it will cause serious health complications. Over use of table salt contributes leads to retaining fluid in the body, which in turn contributes to high blood pressure and heart disease. This is particularly clear when a writer changes the typical word order (Weaver, 2014). Word Choice When constructing a poem, the author is very careful in the choice of words they may use and how they arrange those words. The author/poet uses word tools such as tone, diction (formal and informal), colloquialism, , denotations and connotations, and whatever jargons were used during the author specific timeframe. Tone Tone is the author s demeanor toward the subject, the state of mind made by the greater part of the components that are within the poem. Composing, similar to dialog, can be portrayed as genuine or light, miserable or glad, private or open, furious or tender, sharp or nostalgic, or by whatever other states of mind and sentiments that individuals experience (Weaver, 2014). Diction Like every good writer, poets are distinctly mindful of lingual authority, their decision of words they utilize. Writers pick words particularly painstakingly on the grounds that the words in their poems may point to themselves. Poems are generally less lengthy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Term Limit Essay John Dingell, a member of the United States House of Representatives, served fifty nine years and twenty one days at this position. With no term limits set for the federal legislative positions in the United States, is this representation becoming redundant? Term limits can potentially be crucial in political reform of the United States that would bring new perspectives to federal legislative positions, warrant regular federal legislative turnover, and reduce incentives for wasteful election related federal spending. Term limits can also pervert the entire understanding of what democracy is, by substituting the people s will with term limits that may go against what the people want. This amendment is known as the Term Limitation Amendment, in addition to limiting terms of elected officials within the Arkansas state government, the amendment also stated that any person having served three or more terms as a member of the United States House of Representatives from Arkansas would no longer be eligible for re election as a United States Representative from Arkansas. The amendment also provided that any person who has served two or more terms as a member of the United States Senate from Arkansas would be ineligible for re election as a United States Senator from Arkansas. Arkansas justified their 73rd amendment by citing the tenth amendment of the United States Constitution. Using the residual clause, Arkansas argued that the states had the power to limit terms. The Supreme Court, in a five to four decision, ruled against Arkansas. The court justified their ruling by showing that the Constitution prohibits states from adopting Congressional qualifications in addition to those enumerated. • 29. The Effects of Video and Video Games on Children The process of animation can be defined as a series of drawings, photographs, or images constructed in a computer program in order to form a scene or action, usually in a cartoon, movie, or video game. For many of us, Disney is where we refer back to early forms of animation with the idea of using thousands of consecutive drawings; through Disney, we can now see how far this idea of breathing life into static objects has advanced. Today, animation is becoming more and more realistic. With highly advanced technology and computer programs, it has become easier for simple cartoons to develop into what children see as real life. These animated cartoons and movies are surrounding our youth every where and it is important to observe the effects of increasingly realistic animation on children and their perspective on life brought on by advancing technology and computer programs, for some of these effects pose a negative threat. Through exposing and observing these possible threats, the people involved in a child s life can perform what is necessary to avoid them. In order to clearly define what effects are occurring and how, a brief history of animation and the way it is done today must be defined. Animation s beginning can be found in France; it started as a series of pictures drawn directly onto what is know as a celluloid, an idea made by Émile Reynaud. As animation continued to grow in popularity throughout most of the 1900s, techniques remained chained to two dimensional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Background Of An Authorised Firearms Officer Chapter 1 Background When an authorised firearms officer in the police is involved in a shooting, procedures and guidelines are firmly incorporated to ensure that investigations are thoroughly carried out. However, most police officers in England and Wales will never possess a firearm, face a gun or discharge one as this supports the ideology that police officers in England and Wales have no desire to carry a firearm routinely (Rostker, 2008, p. 78) It is not a common occurrence for a weapon to be discharged in any firearms incident in England and Wales, for example if a firearm is discharged following an alert, over half the rounds fired are believed to miss their intended target and of those people hit by a round, more than half survive (Punch, 2011, p. 1). A similar situation also exists in the United States of America. The United States are viewed in the Western society as extreme in relation to weapons and violence because of its high police response rates to its widespread strong gun culture (Crank, 1998, p. 152). The United States will be introduced as a comparator to this research as it is already highly compared to other societies where the sale of weapons and its regulation is minimal, with only local law enforcement agencies setting the policy with no national policing system. A report released in 2012 by the Federal Bureau of Investigation stated that 410 Americans were lawfully killed by the police with only one victim unarmed (2013). However, during ... • 31. Negative Effects Of Technology In Family Life It is now possible to earn a college degree from home. Making it possible for anyone to attend a college that could not make it to a campus in person. Most Universities and colleges offer degree programs that can be earned online. Students can fit school into their schedules easier because course material is available anywhere at any time (Irby Li, 2008). In the past, it was challenging for people, especially older adults, to fit college into their busy schedules. People that had full time jobs and families just did not have the time to fit college into their busy lives, even if they wanted to. Technology has allowed people to work towards a college degree while working full time and caring for their families. Some jobs offer incentives for their employees to return to college, which can help them advance in their career; therefore earning more money. Older college students are finding this method of college more attractive over the traditional campus classes, which is an incredible benefit for people and their families. People are now able to keep in contact with people through social media sites and text messaging. The negative impacts are often discussed how technology has interfered in family life, but there are positive benefits to families, too. A recent study revealed that the majority of families feel that technology has affected their relationships in positive ways (McDaniel Coyne, 2016). • 36. Duality Of Apollo And Dionysus This is particularly evident in the Ecce Homo s passages devoted to the duality of Apollo and Dionysus. Here Nietzsche openly attacks this concept as a crypto Hegelian idea ruling over the course of history. Moreover, he brands the same with the here clearly negative label of metaphysicslii. Thus, as of 1888 and just before his eventual psychological collapse, we can see how Nietzsche chastised some of his own early positions in the same way he did with Socratism . These too are now nothing but expressions of dogmatic and one sided blindness, and thus obstacles to the necessary self overcoming of humanity. What changes is rather the understanding of art s content what in the late stages of his work Nietzsche calls the Wisdom of Dionysus , an expression he already employs in BTlvii. This wisdom, flows from a proper metaphysical understanding of life, which is now finally unbounded by any suspect metaphysical duality. Hence, I hold that it is not too daring to see in this wisdom a new unblinded metaphysics that the author resorts to herald in his 1880 s writings, and which also springs from the Will, now conceived as Will to Power. If now the tension of Apollo and Dionysus falls in the field of Socratism , we can still see in the satyrs chorus an anticipation of Nietzsche s later themes as he himself aknowledges toward the end of the Attempt to Self Criticismlix. • 37. Lean Manufacturing Is An Approach Introduction Lean Manufacturing is an approach taken by manufacturing organization to increase efficiency through optimization and maximize customer value while minimizing waste. Traditionally, Lean principles were applied to manufacturing industries especially automotive companies. However, with the success in automotive industry, it no longer limited to automotive sector and can be applied in other manufacturing sectors as well as services industries (Balle, et al., 2006). The drivers for implementing Lean in both manufacturing and service sectors are customer demands for better quality products and services, managerial demands for cost reduction and sustaining in an increasing market competitiveness. Lean implementation and various success stories has led companies worldwide to introduce lean in their operations and services but majority of these companies achieved only modest levels of success (Womack Jones, 2003). It is reported that many organizations are not able to transform themselves to lean organization and thus at some point of time, lean implementation is destined to fail (Farris, et al., 2009). Some of the main factors for lean failures are poor communication, lack of strong leadership, lack of learning, staff resistance to change, and lack of clear direction (Emiliani Stec, 2005). Researchers have argued that transition to lean environment and sustaining lean improvements requires cultural change in the organization rather than changing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Significant Changes In The Forager Society When humans transitioned from foragers to farmers, there were a few noticeable changes. Materialistic values emerged. People became kinder and less kind simultaneously as sharing and violence became less commonplace. More structure started to evolve in the society as it was necessary to establish leaders. Energy consumption increased and was spent on work instead of travelling to areas of abundance. Although some of these differences may not seem drastic, there was and is a considerable difference between the ways the lifestyles are lead. In the forager society, travel was necessary to survive. Although this did not allow people to possess many physical belongings, it also provided basic essentials without a large amount of work. Hunters would kill deer, feed their community, and shortly move on to the next place with a high deer population. The women would gather berries and again share. There were limited ways to store food, so abundances were spread amongst the community to avoid waste. Labor and skills were divided equally because there were few people in each travelling group. Qualitative Quantitative Research Methods Qualitative amp; Quantitative Research Methods PSY 326 Dr. Willow Aureala March 29, 2011 Qualitative amp; Quantitative Research Methods There are two types of research methods: qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative research methods are complex meaningful analyses characterized by processes and meanings that are not measured in terms of mathematical measurements. Quantitative research however, relies and builds on mathematical procedures and methods, such as frequency, quality, amount and statistical procedure. There are unique characteristics which distinguish one research process from the other. Because the data obtained by qualitative and quantitative research methods are different, they must be evaluated differently also. In order to ensure the quality and establish the trustworthiness of qualitative data, researchers may call upon their peers to evaluate the narrative in order to determine if there are inconsistencies, contradictions, or other instances of researcher bias (researcher proving only that which they choose or anticipate)(Smith amp; Davis, 2010). Additionally, qualitative researchers also indicate the procedures they used to validate data. This process is called confirmability. In addition to confirmability, qualitative researchers are also concerned with credibility. Credibility refers to the accuracy of the study. Because qualitative research is social or human in nature, it is best to allow the subjects of the study determine accuracy. However, quantitative data is evaluated in a different manner. In order to ensure that quantitative data is obtained from an acceptable instrument, it is necessary to determine the validity and reliability of the instrument being used. It is important to minimize subjectivity in quantitative research. The researcher must ensure that the surveys, questionnaires, and tests, used are not open for interpretation or the results may be skewed. Researchers can verify the usefulness of an instrument through validity and reliability. Validity refers to the extent to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Instead, these young boys take advantage of their freedom, and life as they knew it deteriorates. Lord of the Flies is influenced by the author s life and experiences. The boys ignore the task and become preoccupied with hunting, swimming and eating, leaving the huts unfinished and rank. Therefore, the neglecting of the shelters is an example of the deterioration of rules in the novel. Deterioration is also shown when Jack alters the use of fire. The rule that Ralph, the leader, makes at the beginning of the novel is that Jack and the other choir boys have a duty to keep the signal fire going at all times. When a ship passes, Ralph is enraged to find that Jack let the fire burn out; Jack breaks his promise and the rule. As a result, the boys on the island are unnoticed and fail to be rescued by the ship; there is no fire smoke to signal it. At the end of the novel Jack sets the whole island on fire in order to kill Ralph. quot; They had smoked him out and set the whole island on fire quot; (Golding, p.197). The fire that at one point symbolizes hope, has now turned to destruction.
