Iranian Sexual Revolution
Although family law and official discourse still remain patriarchal, however, globalization, women s
movement activities, improving levels of education, improving new communication technologies
and the implementation of modernization s policies, have led Iranians to confront dominant sexual
discourse through a modern life style and they also try to customize the traditional perceptions of
sexuality with new attitudes.
These transformations are remarkable enough to some scholars who called it a kind of sexual
revolution. For instance, Pardis Mahdavi (2007) after her long time investigation on the private life
style of a part of the urban youth in Iran, stated that in spite of legal prohibitions against pre marital
sex, homosexuality, dancing parties and alcohol consumption, contemporary youths in Iran oppose
these constrains and make their own definitions of life style and relationships. The writer proposed
a kind of revolution to represent the new changes. Mahdavi (2007) argued that the sexual revolution
they believe, they are engaging in, is about changing sexual discourse, pushing the limits with
regards to restrictions on social behaviors (such as style of dress, youth congregation, drinking and
dancing) and attacking the fabric of morality under which the ... Show more content on

Beside increasing the divorce rates and decreasing the marriage and fertility rates, the model of
gender relationships has changed. Today women are active everywhere, in different areas of
social, political and economic dimensions. The traditional model of the family in which male
authority is the core of relationships is going to be abolished and women are challenging their
traditional maternal roles. It seems that gender division of roles and duties are no longer as
established as before. Family values are being replaced by individualism and pre marital
relationships are increasing (Iran, Parlement report,

Delivery Of Punishment In Australia
Delivery of Punishment
Jordan T. Sharp
Charles Sturt University
Word Count:
Australia s colonial beginnings can be described as a penal settlement where our population grew
due to the result of the punishment of offenders through transportation from England and Ireland.
Australia early penal settlements are described as brutal places for most convicts, for many.
Transportation was less onerous than the life of a pauper in the British Isles. In the early nineteenth
century there was a potential deterrent effect of an uncertain voyage and an indeterminate fate that
had been tempered by the system of assignment, tickets of leave and emancipation. However the
authorities in England believed this system gave to much liberty ... Show more content on

Were a man is sent to compulsory labour in the colonies he may become a reformed man but this
would usually only occur by an accident not a design. The chief interest of those for whom he
laboured was to get work out of him, not to amend his morals. (Hirst, 1983) However when NSW
settlement was established in the wake of the American revolutionary war, which had stopped the
practise of transporting British convicts to the different American colonies. There was a decision
made to send convicts to NSW which disappointed Bentham as he had seen the interruption to
transportation in 1776 as an opportunity for penal reform. With intellectual opinion turning against
transportation and now moving in favour of imprisonment and hard labour in as the punishment for

Chain Letter By Christopher Pike
I recently read Chain Letter by Christopher Pike. The plot is that a group of friends receive a
letter telling each person to do a different dangerous, risky task. If they don t do it, they are
threatened with other terrible options, including death. The person who wrote these letters, signed
as Caretaker knows about a crimethey committed, when they were all together that only the group
members know about. Pike makes this story enjoyable by including sequence and structure. The
sequence was substantial because it was present time which was helpful to understand what was
going on in the story. It also has a good amount of flashbacks, but only to parts that are important.
A good example is one page 38 where it starts off as Chapter Three:

Wireless Networks And Network For Future Of Mobile...
Every day the wireless communication is getting more advanced comparing to what is was
yesterday. Every generation of mobile communication get advanced with a higher speed, frequency
band, better connectivity, security and high data rates in transmission. For all these reasons, it s
clear how the 4G is success more than the 3G networks, and the same thing will happen to the 4G
after lunching the 5G in the near future. In this paper, I will try to describe the 4G networks and 5G
networks in contest of future of mobile communications. What are their drawbacks and what are the
main differences between these different generations along with the issues that make the new
network take over that network.
2 Background:
A look back in the history, the first generation of telephony (1G) started in the early of 1980s.
This network was designed to carry analog voice data. The (1G) networks were based on these
standard TACS, NMT, C Nets and AMPS. In the early of 1990s the (2G
) networks came as a digital
network comparing to the analog in (1G). That was the first digital cellular network after the
switches that were supported digital calls by using actual 0s and 1s. The (2G) networks were
supported by these standards D AMPS, Code Division Multiple Access One (CDMAOne) and
Global System of Mobile Communication (GSM). The second generation of telephony (2G) was
offered a higher capacity, improved security and improved the voice quality. The (2G) technology

Dual Language Adoption Paper
Currently, school districts statewide are required to identify limited English Proficiency (LEP)
students and adopt policies in providing programing which is mainly locally funded with some
state aid. The Office for Bilingual Education and Foreign Language Studies were established in
1969. Over the last decade, there has been a growth in the number of dual language programs in
the US with goals of bilingualism and biliteracy but many of these programs are expensive and
exclusive. (Franklin, 2013) Texas has the second largest ELL population and the largest bilingual
educationprogram where there are 7 school districts that offer two way dual language programs
which are offered to both native English speakers and native Spanish speakers. Florida has the
Coral Way School, a genuine bilingual program, which has been successful, receiving many
accolades since 1936. In 2010, Florida had a population of 227,000 LEP students for which their
districts are required to prepare and submit plans for ELL one way developmental bilingual
education or dual language services. (Queens University, 2010) California has more than 1.5

My Personal Christian Beliefs
Here at Colorado Christian University, we are all self proclaimed Christians, but it seems that
everyone believes something different whether it be related to the age of the Earth, if the Bible is
infallible or not, or whether things like alcohol are sinful or not. This is no different when we talk
about the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In the next several pages, I will outline my beliefs about the
Work of Christ, the Person of Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the Trinity, as well as back my beliefs on
these things with Scripture and other theological writings. Starting off, I believe that Christ came
to the Earth as fully God and fully man and performed miracles, ranging from casting out demons
to raising the dead. The main verse that I use to support this claim is Acts 10:38 which states, How
God anointed Jesusof Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing
good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. For me, this verse
shows us that it was God who gave Jesus his power, which he forfeited when He became human,
so that Jesus could deliver people and show them the love and power of God. Likewise, this
verse is one of the only verses that explicitly states that Jesus was given His power from God.
This must mean that, at some time, Jesus had His power taken from Him. As I mentioned before,
I believe giving away His power was one of the many prices He had to pay to become human, but
God gave this power back to Him at this

Freedmen s Bureau Failure
Radical Republicans envisioned the Freedmen s Bureau as an agency that would reshape the
South by providing food and shelter to freed slaves in the immediate aftermath of the war, regulate
black labor as both former slave owners and their freed slaves adjusted to the elimination of
slavery, administer justice in any conflicts between African Americans and Southern whites,
manage land seized from Confederate office holders and distribute it to freed slaved; and finally,
establish schools and promote the education of freedmen and their families. The newly freed slaves,
on the other hand, were clear from the start about what they expected the Freedmen s Bureau to do
for them. As a teacher from the northern states noted in an August 4, 1865 letter... Show more

It provided food, clothing and often shelter to millions of starving freedmen and their families
immediately after the war. It made strenuous efforts to reunite black families that had been
separated before and after the war. Because most Southern white doctors refused to treat African
Americans, the Bureau established hospitals and dispensaries (Freedmen s Bureau, Social Welfare
History Project). But its greatest achievement was in education. During Reconstruction, the bureau
set up hundreds of schools across the South. The bureau had considerable help from Northern
missionary societies and abolitionist groups, like the Quakers, who for years after the war sent
down white teachers. But the contribution of African Americans themselves was crucial, from
African American groups in the north who sent down funds and textbooks. to literate black
Southerners who taught in the Freedmen s schools (Butchart, Freedmen s Education during
Reconstruction). The demand for education was insatiable: illiterate former slaves wanted
education not just for their children, they wanted to learn to read and write themselves. All over the
South, the Bureau encouraged night classes and Sabbath schools for working adults.

Causes Of Chinese Stock Market Crash Essay
Chapter 2: Causes of the Chinese stock market crash
In the previous chapter, the researcher has covered some basic information about the stock market.
Hence, in this chapter, the current situation that the Chinese stock market is suffering from and
factors contributing towards this crisis will be analysed. At the end of this chapter, readers will
have an idea how a market which was stable for many years could become unsteady within such a
short period of time.
2.1.The definition of a stock market crash
A stock market crash represents a steep fall in the value of market prices and it is often the
factor creating economic depression (Galbraith, 1988). However, the value of the drop that can
be considered as a predictor for the crash is debatable. On one hand, Mishkin (1990) argues that
the stock market crash only occurs when there was a 20 percent fall in stock price across crucial
cross sections of a market. On the other hand, Patel and Sarkar (1998) define a stock market
crash as a fall of more than 35 percent of the market s stock value. No matter how large the
percentage of a drop in the price of stocks is on the stock market, both theories agree that the most
devastating crashes are usually consequences of an overly inflated market, which is also known as
a bubble (Mishkin, 1990; Pater Sarkar, 1998).
2.2.The definition of a bubble in the stock market
A bubble in a stock market is an investing phenomenon involving the excessive expectation of
investors concerning

Analysis Of Dorothy Parker s One Perfect Rose
One Perfect Rose, is a short poem from Dorothy Parker s first book of poetry Enough Rope (1926).
Parker cohesively explores two major themes throughout the poem; frustration and disappointment.
The two themes are conveyed in the narrative by the narrator who ultimately outlines a
dissatisfaction with the cliched conventions of romance and courtship. The projection of these
themes are outlined through three dominant modes of discourse which I will be engaging with
throughout the literary commentary; structure, voice and the use of metaphor. The commentary
will address these discourses in relation to an adaptation of the original poem into prose, taking into
consideration the implications of textual adaptation. This textual intervention... Show more content

However, in the process of adapting the poetic form into prose fiction conceptual complications
arise. Furthermore, in written prose, structure is less symbolic as there are less prior connotations
and conventions associated with a novel s aesthetic structure. Whereas, a poem s form is dictated
by the structure, such as a sonnet form; identified by having fourteen lines of poetry and following a
strict rhyme scheme. In contrast to this, the structure of a novel form is defined through narrative,
plot and setting. Therefore, in adaptation from poetry into prose the significance of structure has to
be substituted by narrative in order to reinstate the same irony which Parker achieves structurally
through her text. The type of irony would also have to be altered in order to fit the adapted text. In
the prose version, verbal irony depicted through the narrative form is the most effective way of
reproducing the irony in the original. Parker s poem, employs situational irony, which is where the
actions in a situation have the opposite effect and consequences from the original intention.
Ambiguous narration and voice is established in the poems inception, as the author states that she
had received a single flow r . The plural nature of the adjective single creates uncertainty around the

Leadership And Cinematic Themes Of The Film And Media
Introduction Leadership is commonly defined as an act of leading an organization or a group of
people for some cause or purpose. In every field of life, reflection of leadership is evident,
whether it s an organizational environment or some other social setting (Stewart, 2010). Humans
live and work together to progress, and in this respect, one of the individuals has to take the lead
and drive others too towards achieving success (Lintz, 2003). Similarly, the film and media also
play a role in teaching the general public about how leadership is important and exercised in a
setting. That being said, this purpose is aimed at presenting a leadership in film reflection through
highlighting different leadership and cinematic themes. The reflection will primarily develop
appreciation of the film through leadership in action. In this respect, the paper will talk about
distinguishing the artistic means of music, imagery, costume, and historical footage etc. The
paper will also talk about how the direction has used these elements to signify leadership bias and
other issues. The effect of leader on organizational culture and vice versa will also be discussed,
which will then be followed by a conclusion. The scholarly evidence will also be provided while
presenting analysis. The film chosen for this purpose is Patton, which was released in 1970.

Quality In Healthcare

The most important measure of success in any kind of organization is quality. Quality is extremely
crucial in all organizations whether it is within healthcare or not because, it is a symbol that is
representing the main image of an organization. A quality of an organization is based on the facts
that they are always remarkably meeting the expectations of their customers, if not even doing
more. It also means that such organization is always striving to find the unsatisfied areas of the
customers in which to improve. When every organization ensures that it is producing quality

customers waiting too long before being provided care, not only will that contribute to losing
customers but it could result severely in worse cases such as deaths. Lastly, health care
organization should be efficient, which means they should seek to remove waste from the
facilities as soon as possible and the cost of services should be capable to afford. And the sixth
tells us that health care should be equitable, this means to be known for a great quality in a health

One of the many things that attracted me to nursing was the variety of positions a nurse can be

the Life Care Center of West Bridgewater. It is a skilled nursing home and rehabilitation center
that is divided into long and short term floors. There, I can grow and gain experience as an LPN,

have to do an internal transfer from the Life Care in West Bridgewater to the one in Fitchburg. I
could work nights 11 7 part time and go to class afterwards. Being that it is a three year program,
I would like to get this done as soon as possible. I plan to take classes throughout my winter and
summer breaks. I would like to work all throughout my time during the program. After I am done
and take the NCLEX RN, my goal is to be working in hospice. Five years from now, my dream is
to have gotten my BSN and work as a hospice nurse. With the experience that I would have
gained during those five years working in long term care, I would teach as a nursing professor.
Even though I would eventually need a master s in education, teaching students that love nursing
as much as I do sounds interesting. With the nursing shortage at it s all time high, it s important
for new, incoming nurses to have dedicated and caring professors. I consider myself lucky to
have been accepted into a program that offers just that. Being a professor would be my way of
giving back of what has been given to me. On the contrary, I have had my fair share of bad
experiences with nursing professors.

four attacks within the United States left our nation in complete shock. According to the Final
Report of the National Commission, More than 2,600 people died at the World Trade Center; 125
died at the Pentagon; 256 died on the four planes. The death toll surpassed that at Pearl Harbor in
December 1941. Although, I was only two years old, 9/11 had a huge impact on my childhood and

President Bush had to give a speech to a nation that was terrified. That speech was dedicated to

Inventory And Inventory Control System
INTRODUCTION:
The more inventory a company has... the less likely they will have what they need. Taichi Ohno
What is Inventory?
Inventory is considered to be the raw materials, work in process goods or completely finished
goods that are a portion of a business s assets that are ready for use or will be ready for sale to
customers.
Possessing huge amount of inventory for longer period of time is not considered to be usually
good for a business because of inventory storage, obsolescence and spoilage costs. On the other
hand, we also need to consider that possessing too little inventory isn t good either, because the
business runs the risk of losing out on potential sales and potential market shares. (1)
In any organization, Inventory Management is a very important concept that is been followed and
there is a dedicated team that looks after the planning, scheduling and flow of inventory. Typically
there are two standard inventory control systems that are followed within organizations for
effective Inventory Management:
Push System: The main ideology of push inventory control systems is forecasting inventory needs
to satisfy customer demands. Here, companies should make a prediction as to which product the
customers would purchase and also determine the quantity of products that will be purchased.
Everything in a push system is decided on basis of a prediction and forecasting and that is the
major flaw in the system. These forecasts are often inaccurate as well as

How Is Harry Potter Related To Religion
The mind is not a book, to be opened at will and examined at leisure. Thoughts are not etched on
the inside of skulls, to be perused by an invader. The mind is a complex and many layered thing.
(Severus Snape, Book five.) The book series entitled Harry Potter has Biblical themes hidden
beneath all of the spells, charms, and enchantments. Harry Potter, in my own opinion, is very Christ
like and I feel like the book series could be looked at like a modernized version of the bible. He
resembles Jesus Christ in multiple ways. J.K Rowling has subtly featured religious symbolism in
her books such as, Harry dying for the wizarding world much like Jesus died willingly for our sins.

throughout his school years, has to obliviate her parents minds because she doesn t want them
getting hurt. Her mother and father are both muggles, therefore Voldemort would find them and

The Role Of Escapism In The 2000 s
However, these concepts were thought of in the early 90 s, the world has gone under the most

similar to that of the industrial revolution. The internet revolution or the information age has
fundamentally changed the way the world is run in every facet. Every industry has adapted or been

Therefore, the internet is itself, a hyperreality. Baudrillard feared the era of hyperreality as the

Personal Narrative-A Humorous Journey
As I sit on the stage of the most prestigious music hall in the world, Carnegie Hall, with my cello
in between my legs and bow in hand, the conductor raises his baton. He cues me along with 150
symphony players dressed in uniform black tuxedos and gowns. I was unbelievably nervous,
sitting second chair for hundreds to see; we opened with, The Marriage of Figaro composed by
Mozart. I had been preparing for this contest, this moment, all year and now it was finally upon me.
When I was in the third grade, our districts high school orchestra teacher accompanied by a few
high school players, came to my elementary class to inform us about stringed instruments
because the next year was the first year I could play in the orchestra. It never crossed my mind
that I wanted to play in orchestra until that day. I recall hearing the mellow, eloquent sound of the
cello and absolutely falling in love with it. I knew I wanted to be just like the high schoolers and
wanted to become just as good as them. When I first began to play the cello, it was difficult. I had

The Turks were so in love with the coffee, that they would actually par boil the beans, so they
could not be transported to other parts of the world and re planted. It is said though, that an Indian
named Baba Budan smuggled beans to India in his stomach and that the Dutch eventually got hold

Europe.
The beans eventually made their way to Java and by 1683 Mocha and Java were the most popular

Effects Of Social Learning Theory On Juvenile Delinquency
Abstract This paper will be going over social learning theory and how it affects juveniles and its
relation to Juvenal delinquency. Social learning theory states that learning social behaviors happens
through observation and learning from others. This paper will be explaining how family, friends,
and socialization affect the child s behaviors in relation to juvenile delinquency. Also going over the
strengths and weaknesses of the social learningtheory.
What is social learning theory In 1961, the infamous Bobo doll experiment was conducted by
Albert Bandura, leading him to create social learning theory. This experiment entailed a group of
adults beating up a Bobo doll while children watched. After the adults were finished, the children
were let into the room with the Bobo doll. It was observed that the children were copying the adult
s behavior beating the Bobo doll. SOURCE. This experiment that Bandura conducted shows that we
humans learn social behaviors from observing others. This theory has been applied to criminal
justice in that juvenals learn deviant behavior from others actions that they observe. According to
Siegel Welsh (2015). Social learning theory suggests that adolescents learn the techniques and
attitudes of crime from close and intimate relationships with the delinquent peers; delinquency is a
learned behavior (p. 155). This means that the Juvenal, depending on what behaviors of crime and
delinquency that their friends and family have will

Nazi Germany And The Nazi Party
Throughout Nazi Germany in the period 1928 through to 1941, racism was utilized by Hitler,
and in turn his Nazi party, firstly to secure Hitler s position as a dictator, and secondly to unite
the German people against a common enemy, which would lead to a united powerful state, ready
and able to exert its national will. Whether or not his aims were oppressive in nature is debatable
but, his aims for racial purification and domination over Eastern Europe are made obvious
before Hitler s assumption of power, primarily in the racist crude writings of Mein Kampf, and
even from Moellers Des drittes Reich from the 1920s. It can be said, therefore, though Hitler may
not have been successful in achieving an oppressive state, he may certainly have desired it.
Constantly, it is made obvious, through his use of racism in both Domestic and foreign policy that
Hitler s ultimate aim, was total power, both for himself and his master race the Volksgeminschaft.
Hitler s use of racism is continually evident from the beginning of his comings to power, through
till his attack on the Soviet Union in June of 1941. Racism, was initially used by Hitler to identify
his sympathizers, and most predominant to unite the German people again public internal enemy

In the year 1998, Clinton was investigated and then accused of improperly using money from the

what made the public hostile towards Clinton would have to be the discovery that he possibly had
an affair with White House Intern, Monica Lewinsky. He even lied about it under a presidential

demand to impeach President Clinton arose. When it came down to the final vote of the Senate in

The Fungal Diseases Of Pea
Pea is liable to be attack by many bacterial, fungal, viral, nematode diseases in addition to
physiological disorder. However, fungal diseases, especially rust is considered one of the major
destructive diseases affecting the crop yield (Hagedron, 1984 and Kraft, and Pfleger, 2001),
especially in the north and middle parts of the Delta in Egypt and several countries in the world
(Abada et al., 1997; Gupta and Shayam, 1998 and Parilli et al., 2015). The fungus Uromyces pisi

The nectar contains fungal gametes (spermatia) that are transferred by nectar feeding insects
(including bees and ants) from one fungal mating type to another. Once fertilization has occurred,
aeciospores are released which infect leguminous host plants including field peas. Managing plant
diseases with fungicides sometimes gives good results. However, improper use of fungicides leads
mostly to environmental pollution, disasters throughout the world and the phenomena of resistance
to the causal pathogens (Brewer and Larkin, 2005). Therefore, to overcome these difficulties, it is
urgent to apply alternative safe efficient methods against such disease or at least rationalization
their application. Biological control is considered an important approach of agricultural
biotechnology in recent years for controlling many fungal plant pathogens. Both Bacillus and
Trichoderma spp. are the most promising and effective bioagents against various plant pathogenic
fungi (Deshmukh et al., 2010; Barakat et al., 2014 and Ragab et al., 2015). Trichoderma as
antagonist is much more complex, that is nutrient competition, hyperparasitism, antibiosis, space
and cell wall degrading enzymes (Abd El Khair et al., 2010 and Junid et al., 2013). It was also
found that there is a large variety of volatile secondary metabolites produced by Trichoderma spp.

The Four Classifications Of Minority Serving Institutions
Before I began researching, I thought there were only four different designations for Minority
Serving Institutions. I was wrong. There is a range of designations for universities qualifying as
minority serving. Under Title III and V of the Higher Education Act of 1965 between sections, 316
and 320 there are six different categories. In this paper, we will begin with the overarching point of
understanding Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs). We will then break apart the primary four
MSIs, the meaning, the purpose, and the progress and expansion of minority serving institutions.
The designation given to these institutions may seem like an alphabet soup but are really important
in understanding the different audiences that these institutions serve, and the ways they function.
Historically are represented by four of the most known classifications consisting of Hispanic

Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AANAPISI), and Tribal Colleges and

Basso continuo is relative only to the baroque era. In the classical era, basso continuo was
completely forgotten and the composers focused more on the melodic aspects of music.
Classical music focused on the technical sides of music rather than the sound. Classical is very
structured and has one main melody with accompanied parts, making it very simple music.
Haydn s Symphony no. 94 is a great representation of the structured and simple music that makes
up the Classical era. Everyone plays a similar and quite simple part, nothing differs too
significantly and every individual part is complimentary of the other parts. The lack of rhythm
variety among the various parts lead the piece to sound very well organized and put together

rather it should be something that measures the ultimate value of your life and how well you have

The importance to repeat experiments is to make sure that the results can be replicated, and that the
experiment results were not flawed. For the most accurate measurements, the highest and lowest

A pattern emerged with our results, the bigger the cube surface area, the less the cube diffused in
the acid. With only one exception the 2CM block of agar (error). The results emerged shows with
a block with larger surface area, the less it diffuses in this experiment, the acid.
Conclusion
From the results of this investigation agar blocks with higher surface to volume ratio will diffuse
slower than ones with lower surface to volume ratio. This is done by the process of diffusion. The
hypothesis was correct, as the bigger the cube was the less it diffused and the agar had a chemical
reaction with the sulphuric acid. The chemical reaction caused the agar to change its purple colour
to almost transparent.

1. Do such programs promote the use of alcohol or illicit drugs, or just limit the harm forced
upon society through the abuse of these chemicals? Depending on a person s point of view and
moral values there exists an argument for both sides of HR programs. On one hand, proponents
against HR programs may state that by promoting the means the ends will ultimately be met.
Allowing such programs to exist could be viewed as advocating for the very thing they are
attempting to eliminate from society. And they may very well be correct with their assumption:
Perhaps abstinence is the best policy. On the other hand, while proponents for HR programs seem
to have conceded defeat against some of the perils of society and accept the fact that substance
use and abuse, as well as other demoralizing acts are inevitable, this does not mean they have
given up hope of someday eliminating the problems altogether . The choice for HR programs may
appear to be a rationalization of sorts; accepting the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
173). There is definitely a correlation here that could be integrated with the implementation and
continuation of HR programs. Lewis (2014) states, Progress means not just changing, but
changing for the better (p. 5). If HR programs assist people in minimizing their drug use or better
yet, completely eradicating it from their lives, or if HIV contractions can be minimized by the
employing of a needle exchange program, and if pregnancies can also be minimized due to a
condom distribution program, then I would have to say that this sounds like not just change, but a
change for the better. Turning a blind eye or expecting complete abstinence from both sex and
drugs users seems to be an unrealistic perspective to take which is why I am a proponent of the HR

Gender Roles in Alice Munro s Boys and Girls
In Alice Munro s short story Boys and Girls, our narrator is a young farm girl on the verge of
puberty who is learning what it means to be a girl. The story shows the differing gender roles of
boys and girls specifically that women are the weaker, more emotional sex by showing how the
adults of the story expect the children to grow into their respective roles as a girl and a boy, and
how the children grow up and ultimately begin to fulfill these roles, making the transition from
being children to being young adults.
The adults in the story expect the children to grow into the gender role that their sex has assigned to
them. This is seen in several places throughout the story, such as when the narrator hears her mother

Neither child has an interest in the work of their parent of the same gender; Laird runs off to play
instead of helping with the foxes, and the narrator escapes from the kitchen the first chance she
gets (Munro 495). Later in the story, however, Laird begins to take an interest in the men s work
of hunting and killing the horse, and the narrator, while not yet embracing the work of her
mother, is disengaging herself from her father s work and turning toward the more feminine
work of decorating her room. Neither of them sing songs anymore, even though the narrator
continued to enjoy it, Laird said it sounded silly, so she stopped (Munro 501); this is an example
of both Laird becoming more masculine, because he no longer wants to take part in frivolous
things such as singing Jingle Bells at night, and the narrator becoming more feminine, because she
so easily bows to her brother s opinion. Laird has started to accept the role of leader instead of just
being young and obedient, (Munro 499) and the narrator is taking other people s opinions into
consideration when deciding her actions, instead of just doing whatever she wants to do.
From the beginning to the end of the story, the narrator undergoes a transformation from a child of
the farm to a young woman. From my perspective, she does not start out as particularly masculine;
she is more of a blank slate that is trying to rebel against what she views as

Analysing Mcdonalds (Fast Food Outlets) Using the Porters...
Introduction McDonalds Corporation truly began in 1954 when Ray Kroc decided that he would
turn the successful Californian store owned by the McDonald brothers into a chain. Today
McDonalds is the world s largest restaurant chain, worth over $70 billion (Yahoo7Finance 2008).
McDonalds has grown via constant refinement of business practices and by knowing their
customers needs. They have placed great importance on their long term relationships with suppliers
and their aim is to ensure customers receive a consistent product quality. Analysis of McDonalds
Corporation using the Porters 5 forces model to asses its competitive position in the fast food

This health option has served to give McDonalds are point of difference from its competitors.
Power of Suppliers Suppliers are essential to business have greatest power when are no substitute
products or it is costly for a business to change suppliers (Porter five forces model). To assist
with maintaining control over supply and quality, McDonalds uses suppliers which have
systems dedicated to production for the company (McDonalds Australia Corporate Social
Responsibility Report 2007 ). In this way McDonalds can stipulate quality and it becomes very
costly for the supplier to cease its contract with McDonalds. This leaves McDonalds in a
commanding position regarding suppliers. Power of Buyers Buyers can exert control over an
industry when, there is little differentiation over a product and substitute products can easily be
found, customers are sensitive to price and switching to another product is not costly (Porter five
forces model). Substitute products of similar price and quality are easily found in the fast food
industry, giving buyers great power and influence. There are a number of programs which
McDonalds engages in to help set its self apart from others. They have there own charity
organization Ronald McDonald House, they say

  • 2. Iranian Sexual Revolution Although family law and official discourse still remain patriarchal, however, globalization, women s movement activities, improving levels of education, improving new communication technologies and the implementation of modernization s policies, have led Iranians to confront dominant sexual discourse through a modern life style and they also try to customize the traditional perceptions of sexuality with new attitudes. These transformations are remarkable enough to some scholars who called it a kind of sexual revolution. For instance, Pardis Mahdavi (2007) after her long time investigation on the private life style of a part of the urban youth in Iran, stated that in spite of legal prohibitions against pre marital sex, homosexuality, dancing parties and alcohol consumption, contemporary youths in Iran oppose these constrains and make their own definitions of life style and relationships. The writer proposed a kind of revolution to represent the new changes. Mahdavi (2007) argued that the sexual revolution they believe, they are engaging in, is about changing sexual discourse, pushing the limits with regards to restrictions on social behaviors (such as style of dress, youth congregation, drinking and dancing) and attacking the fabric of morality under which the ... Today women are active everywhere, in different areas of social, political and economic dimensions. The traditional model of the family in which male authority is the core of relationships is going to be abolished and women are challenging their traditional maternal roles. It seems that gender division of roles and duties are no longer as established as before. Family values are being replaced by individualism and pre marital relationships are increasing (Iran, Parlement report, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Delivery Of Punishment In Australia Delivery of Punishment Jordan T. Sharp Charles Sturt University Word Count: Australia s colonial beginnings can be described as a penal settlement where our population grew due to the result of the punishment of offenders through transportation from England and Ireland. Australia early penal settlements are described as brutal places for most convicts, for many. Transportation was less onerous than the life of a pauper in the British Isles. In the early nineteenth century there was a potential deterrent effect of an uncertain voyage and an indeterminate fate that had been tempered by the system of assignment, tickets of leave and emancipation. However the authorities in England believed this system gave to much liberty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Were a man is sent to compulsory labour in the colonies he may become a reformed man but this would usually only occur by an accident not a design. The chief interest of those for whom he laboured was to get work out of him, not to amend his morals. The plot is that a group of friends receive a letter telling each person to do a different dangerous, risky task. The person who wrote these letters, signed as Caretaker knows about a crimethey committed, when they were all together that only the group members know about. For all these reasons, it s clear how the 4G is success more than the 3G networks, and the same thing will happen to the 4G after lunching the 5G in the near future. In this paper, I will try to describe the 4G networks and 5G networks in contest of future of mobile communications. What are their drawbacks and what are the main differences between these different generations along with the issues that make the new network take over that network. 2 Background: A look back in the history, the first generation of telephony (1G) started in the early of 1980s. This network was designed to carry analog voice data. The (1G) networks were based on these standard TACS, NMT, C Nets and AMPS. In the early of 1990s the (2G ) networks came as a digital network comparing to the analog in (1G). That was the first digital cellular network after the switches that were supported digital calls by using actual 0s and 1s. The (2G) networks were supported by these standards D AMPS, Code Division Multiple Access One (CDMAOne) and Global System of Mobile Communication (GSM). The second generation of telephony (2G) was offered a higher capacity, improved security and improved the voice quality. The (2G) technology was offered a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. My Personal Christian Beliefs Here at Colorado Christian University, we are all self proclaimed Christians, but it seems that everyone believes something different whether it be related to the age of the Earth, if the Bible is infallible or not, or whether things like alcohol are sinful or not. This is no different when we talk about the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In the next several pages, I will outline my beliefs about the Work of Christ, the Person of Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the Trinity, as well as back my beliefs on these things with Scripture and other theological writings. Starting off, I believe that Christ came to the Earth as fully God and fully man and performed miracles, ranging from casting out demons to raising the dead. The main verse that I use to support this claim is Acts 10:38 which states, How God anointed Jesusof Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. For me, this verse shows us that it was God who gave Jesus his power, which he forfeited when He became human, so that Jesus could deliver people and show them the love and power of God. Likewise, this verse is one of the only verses that explicitly states that Jesus was given His power from God. This must mean that, at some time, Jesus had His power taken from Him. As I mentioned before, I believe giving away His power was one of the many prices He had to pay to become human, but God gave this power back to Him at this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Causes Of Chinese Stock Market Crash Essay Chapter 2: Causes of the Chinese stock market crash In the previous chapter, the researcher has covered some basic information about the stock market. Hence, in this chapter, the current situation that the Chinese stock market is suffering from and factors contributing towards this crisis will be analysed. At the end of this chapter, readers will have an idea how a market which was stable for many years could become unsteady within such a short period of time. 2.1.The definition of a stock market crash A stock market crash represents a steep fall in the value of market prices and it is often the factor creating economic depression (Galbraith, 1988). However, the value of the drop that can be considered as a predictor for the crash is debatable. On one hand, Mishkin (1990) argues that the stock market crash only occurs when there was a 20 percent fall in stock price across crucial cross sections of a market. On the other hand, Patel and Sarkar (1998) define a stock market crash as a fall of more than 35 percent of the market s stock value. No matter how large the percentage of a drop in the price of stocks is on the stock market, both theories agree that the most devastating crashes are usually consequences of an overly inflated market, which is also known as a bubble (Mishkin, 1990; Pater Sarkar, 1998). 2.2.The definition of a bubble in the stock market A bubble in a stock market is an investing phenomenon involving the excessive expectation of investors concerning ... Parker cohesively explores two major themes throughout the poem; frustration and disappointment. The two themes are conveyed in the narrative by the narrator who ultimately outlines a dissatisfaction with the cliched conventions of romance and courtship. The projection of these themes are outlined through three dominant modes of discourse which I will be engaging with throughout the literary commentary; structure, voice and the use of metaphor. The commentary will address these discourses in relation to an adaptation of the original poem into prose, taking into consideration the implications of textual adaptation. This textual intervention... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, in the process of adapting the poetic form into prose fiction conceptual complications arise. Furthermore, in written prose, structure is less symbolic as there are less prior connotations and conventions associated with a novel s aesthetic structure. Whereas, a poem s form is dictated by the structure, such as a sonnet form; identified by having fourteen lines of poetry and following a strict rhyme scheme. In contrast to this, the structure of a novel form is defined through narrative, plot and setting. Therefore, in adaptation from poetry into prose the significance of structure has to be substituted by narrative in order to reinstate the same irony which Parker achieves structurally through her text. The type of irony would also have to be altered in order to fit the adapted text. In the prose version, verbal irony depicted through the narrative form is the most effective way of reproducing the irony in the original. Parker s poem, employs situational irony, which is where the actions in a situation have the opposite effect and consequences from the original intention. In every field of life, reflection of leadership is evident, whether it s an organizational environment or some other social setting (Stewart, 2010). Humans live and work together to progress, and in this respect, one of the individuals has to take the lead and drive others too towards achieving success (Lintz, 2003). Inventory is considered to be the raw materials, work in process goods or completely finished goods that are a portion of a business s assets that are ready for use or will be ready for sale to customers. Possessing huge amount of inventory for longer period of time is not considered to be usually good for a business because of inventory storage, obsolescence and spoilage costs. On the other hand, we also need to consider that possessing too little inventory isn t good either, because the business runs the risk of losing out on potential sales and potential market shares. Typically there are two standard inventory control systems that are followed within organizations for effective Inventory Management: Push System: The main ideology of push inventory control systems is forecasting inventory needs to satisfy customer demands. This experiment entailed a group of adults beating up a Bobo doll while children watched. After the adults were finished, the children were let into the room with the Bobo doll. It was observed that the children were copying the adult s behavior beating the Bobo doll. SOURCE. This experiment that Bandura conducted shows that we humans learn social behaviors from observing others. This theory has been applied to criminal justice in that juvenals learn deviant behavior from others actions that they observe. According to Siegel Welsh (2015). Social learning theory suggests that adolescents learn the techniques and attitudes of crime from close and intimate relationships with the delinquent peers; delinquency is a learned behavior (p. 155). This means that the Juvenal, depending on what behaviors of crime and delinquency that their friends and family have will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Whether or not his aims were oppressive in nature is debatable but, his aims for racial purification and domination over Eastern Europe are made obvious before Hitler s assumption of power, primarily in the racist crude writings of Mein Kampf, and even from Moellers Des drittes Reich from the 1920s.
