The Components Of Starbucks Organizational Culture
Recommend the key components of Starbucks Organizational Culture that add to its accomplishment
in a worldwide economy. Demonstrate administration s part with making and managing the
authoritative society.
Hierarchical society has a huge effect on the general execution of an organization. Authoritative
society is the arrangement of imparted, underestimated verifiable presumptions that a gathering holds
and that decides how it sees, contemplates, and responds to its different surroundings (Barney, 1986).
In this paper, I will inspect the components of Starbucks hierarchical society that added to its
accomplishment in a worldwide economy, survey the adequacy of its administration choices in giving
imaginative offerings to its clients, focus one key administration competency, and theorize on whether
the organization would accomplish long haul supportability as a worldwide pioneer in the espresso
business without the association s CEO, Howard Shultz.
On account of the accomplishment of Starbucks, its hierarchical society has been driven and engaged
by the originator and CEO, Howard Schultz. Howard needed to grow the organization and when he
went to Italy before the redesign of the first Starbucks he needed to reflect the ideas of the cafΓ©s in
Italy. The key viewpoint to acknowledge here is that hierarchical society influences execution.
Howard Schultz turned into the CEO of Starbucks in 1987. As a business person, he was powerful in
persuading financial specialists

Theme Of Midaq Alley
Midaq Alley by Naguib Mahfouz is a story of love, ambition, hope, and their corruptions. Through
each member of the alley each of these ideas are explored, and a truth is revealed about the meanings
of these emotions and how they impact the way humans interact with one another. The stories of
Midaq Alley are each individual, but they come together to weave a bigger picture, a reflection on
both Western and Traditional Egyptian and Arab culture. Through the character of Hamida, a foster
daughter, the role of women and the ideas of power and corruption are all explored. The pimp,
Ibrahim Faraj, is the only man of her who is able to dominate her because he is the only male who did
not offer control and wealth in the form of marriage, enabling ... Show more content on

who is out of the alley, as her deepest desire is to leave. A foreigner , his mystery and her curiosity
lead Hamida into situations that she cannot predict the outcome of, weakening her as a female
character and opening her up to be manipulated. Ibrahim is the one character that can really seduce

SDLC
Great ideas turn into action by first creating a plan of action. There are many decision making methods
than can be used. The SDLC is an excellent way to implement a plan and help make decisions.
Brainstorming and using other decision making tools can also help an idea to grow into action. There
are a lot of ways to end an excellent plan. Poor decision making skills and mismanagement can
destroy any hopes of a plan reaching its goal. This was true in our scenario. The problem with the
employees being in the wrong training class is a good example of a great idea being halted. The
remarkable idea to have the business officers decide which classes their employees needed did not

A well thought out evaluation will provide benefits no matter what the results are. By the simple virtue

She Wept She Railed Poem
She Wept, She Railed
She Wept, She Railed by Stanley Kunitz is a poem that focuses on woman and violence. Kunitz details
the way women are treated by men in the 1st and 2nd stanza and then provides examples of powerful
women in history where violence was a major component of their life. The last stanza describes a
sexual experience with one of his past partners. The 1st stanza Kunitz discusses the cruelty that men
bestow upon women and the reaction of women. The woman that is weeping and railing is being
forced into sexual actions. The meat Men toss into a muslin cage is referring to a penis hidden by
cloth. To make their spineless doxy bleat refers to men engaging in rough sexual activity with a doxy
or promiscuous woman. Bleat means to scream and rail, the man that is forcing this woman into
sexual activity has caused other woman to scream in pain. The entire 1st stanza is characterizing men
as harsh forcing women into sexual activity. The 2nd stanza emphasizes the idea of virginity. The

bible where Judith killed Holofernes in a tent. Helen by the crackling wall refers to Helen of Troy, the
woman that the Trojan War revolves around. She isn t the actual source of violence, but because of her
violence took place. Cressida was the first cheater she fell in love with one man, Tolius, and then
when she was traded to the Greek army she fell in love with another man. Lastly, Kunitz introduces
Catherine on the holy wheel. She challenged a great emperor and was sentenced to be tortured on a

Walt Disney Corporation
Founded in 1923, the Walt Disney Company has predicated itself as the world s best in the family
entertainment business. After 80 years in the business, who could argue with that statement? Today,
Walt Disney Corporation dominates the market of family entertainment. An unparalleled experience is

Current stock prices are hovering around $30 per share ( The Walt Disney Company, 1996). Walt
Disney Corporation can contribute much of its success to a large number of resources, superior
experience, and its low cost strategy. The company has developed a well known brand name that has
lead to high brand loyalty. This has given the organization the ability to adapt when product line sales
decrease. At the same time, financial stability has allowed Walt Disney Corporation to extend its
product line and services into home video, film, merchandise, radio broadcasting, network television,
and theme parks ( The Walt Disney Company, 1996). As product line sales declined in the US, Disney
has effectively expanded its operations to Japan and Europe. Overall, financial stability is one of Walt
Disney s primary internal strengths, giving the firm flexibility to submerge into a variety of different
markets and expand operations globally. Innovative thinking by Disney employees has been critical to
the company s success. Employees have highly contributed to several box office hits in Disney
productions. Creative and unique ideas this firm continually produces has overshadowed much of the
competition. In an industry where extreme amounts of capital investments are required for new market
entrants, Walt Disney has intimidated many new market entrants by dominating the market of

Warehouse Advantages And Disadvantages
3. Type of warehouse
3.1 On the basis of Structure
Warehouse are built in different ways to meet the special requirement for storage. Different
warehouses are constructed for specific goods. While selecting the types of warehouse, one has to take
into consideration the factors like the nature of goods, the quality and the climatic condition. From the
point of view of structure, the following types of warehouses are found:
 Classical Warehouses
 Silo
 Bins
 Elevator
 Portable Warehouse
 Automatic Warehouse
3.1.1 Classical Warehouses

A public warehouse is also known as duty paid warehouse.
Public warehouses are very useful to the business community. Most of the business enterprises cannot
afford to maintain their own warehouses due to huge capital Investment. In many cases the storage
facilities required by a business enterprise do not warrant the maintenance of a private warehouse.
Such enterprises can meet their storage needs easily and economically by making use of the public
warehouses, without heavy investment.
Public warehouses provide storage facilities to small manufacturers and traders at low cost. These
warehouses are well constructed and guarded round the clock to ensure safe custody of goods. Public
warehouses are generally located near the junctions of railways, highways and waterways.
They provide, therefore, excellent facilities for the easy receipt, despatch, loading and unloading of
goods. They also use mechanical devices for the handling of heavy and bulky goods. A public
warehouse enables a businessman to serve his customers quickly and economically by carrying
regional stocks near the important trading centres or markets of two

Second Wave Of Feminism
Feminism is the fight for equality among the sexes. It can be dated back to the mid 19th century with
women like Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony. The first wave feminist procured the right
to vote for American women. The following second and third waves built upon what the founding
feminists created. The second wave of feminism was set off by the disenchantment women across
America were experiencing. This disenchantment was caused by the nuclear family, and the roles that
the women in the 1950s were thrust into. The second wave is said to have lasted from the 1960s
1980s. Sometime after the 1980s, most likely the early to mid 1990s, third wave feminists began to
rear their heads. The third wave build on the advancements made by the first and second waves. There
has been controversy regarding the thought that the third wave is actually just an extension of the
second. This paper will explore the second and third waves of feminism as well as their relationship
between themselves. The second wave of feminism is said to have been born in 1963 with the
publication of the Feminine Mystique by Betty Friedan. Friedan s ground breaking novel took an
introspective look into the life of a woman in the 1950s. It questioned all of the roles that women were
expected to portray. The 1950s woman was supposed to be a wife first, a mother second, and a
somewhere much further down the list. Friedan made this women question if they were really okay
with living in the margins. The second wave took what the first wave had done and ran with it. They
were fighting for equality among sexes, reproductive rights for women, women s role in the work
place, and domestic violence, and they established the crisis surrounding rape in America. There were
many key events that occurred during the second wave of feminism. In 1960 the Pill was approved by
the FDA. In 1961, President John F. Kennedy established the President s Commission on the Status of
Women. He appointed Eleanor Roosevelt the chair of the commission. JFK also signed into law the
Equal Pay Act of 1963. Then, in1964 Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964. After
the creation of the National Organization for Women (NOW), an executive order was issued by

The Hardest Pieces Of Meat
One of the hardest pieces of meat to cook is the Tri tip steak roast, because most are three pounds and
many tend to burn the outside of the meat while the middle is stone cold raw. I like my meat cooked to
a nice medium temperature, I feel the best way to cook a Tri tip steak is on an outdoor briquette
barbeque, anything other than this is just not doing this piece of meat any justice.
Let s start with the grocery store, to have the best meat that will melt in your mouth, always start with
a nice piece of raw beef. Meat is graded on a scale according to marbling effects. Nice Restaurants
only used USDA Prime. You and I can t buy Prime meat in the grocery store. The USDA grades meat,
and Prime is young, well fed cattle and has an abundant marbling. Most grocery stores can carry
USDA Choice meat, and this is my recommendation of what to buy; it is less marbling but is still very
tender and juicy. You have to be careful, some stores don t carry this and try to sell the lowest grade
which is USDA Select. Select is fairly less tender, less marbling , less on flavor and juiciness. Stay
away from USDA Select. Vons carries a nice USDA Choice meat, so I recommend it.
Seasoning the meat is a crucial element of this process. I like to bring my roast out of the refrigerator
and season it, letting it sit on the counter so it comes to room temperature, while my briquettes are
getting ready on the barbeque. Allowing the meat come fully up to temperature will help the meat

Figurative Language In MLK Jr. s I Have A Dream
Martin Luther King Jr. was the man who wrote the speech entitled I have a dream and presented it to
nearly 250,000 people on August 23, 1963. In that speech, MLK Jr. used several different types of
figurative language/rhetorical devices in order to convey his message to the people on a deeper level.
These devices include personification, allusion, symbolism, hyperbole, metaphor, simile, and
anaphora. Personification is a form of figurative language that gives an object human qualities. One
example of this in MLK Jr. s writing would include I have a dream that one day this nation will rise
up, live out the true meaning of its creed . Here, MLK Jr. gives the U.S. the human qualities of being
able to rise up from the ground as well as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of just straight up telling the audience the name of something, MLK Jr. was able to show the
reader who he ment with the use of context clues. Afterall, if any author can inform their audience of
the person or thing they are referencing without telling the audience who or what it actually is, they
can keep the audience in the mind set they want to have their audience in instead of having their mind
wander off, thinking about other things in which that person or object was or is currently involved in.
MLK Jr. took advantage of this by only referencing Lincoln through Emancipation Proclamation,
which was related to the topic at hand, racial equality of people of color. Symbolism itself is the use of
a symbol (like an object or fact) to represent an idea or quality that is not what the symbol itself
physically is. MLK Jr. used symbolism as a way to show the reader or listener to his speech his ideas
or his point in a clearer manner. One example of symbolism he used would be, Now is the time to rise
from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of justice. In that quote MLK talks
about a dark and desolate valley of segregation and the sunlit path of justice. The dark and desolate
valley of segregation is referring to the U.S. at that point in time. People were separated based on their
skin color and there was no social or legal justice for the people of dark colored skin. It was a horrible
time to live in. When MLK Jr. talks

The Goffman s Theory Of Dramaturgy
Pretend you are playing the role of a character named Jordan, while discussing Erving Goffman s
theory of dramaturgy. Jordan finally made it. Jordan finally graduated university and has been lucky
enough to receive an offer for an interview at the institution that he had been working towards his
entire university career, an interview at the top law firm in all of Toronto. Now it is time to prepare. It
is time for Jordan to show the firm that he is meant to be there. To show the firm that this position was
meant for him, he must be the best version of himself. Jordan is competing against hundreds of other
university graduates, but he must show them that he is the one. Jordan s first impression matters, he
must show them the qualities that they want to see to ensure that he receives the position at the law
firm. While attending this interview in the role of Jordan, you want to put forward the best version of
yourself, it is expected by all to do so. If you want the job you are going to show the interviewers
exactly what they want to see to ensure that you get the position. While doing this you are engaging in
what Goffman calls impression management. Impression management refers to the verbal and
nonverbal practices we employ in an attempt to present an acceptable image of our self to others
(Goffman, 2012, pg. 469). You portray a certain, expected image to the audience and hope that they
see that image the way that you intended. In association with the term impression

A Comparison Between Neanderthal And Modern Human Dna
Introduction
Homo heidelbergensis was an early human species that lived around 700,000 to 200,000 years ago.
These pioneers were the first to live in colder climates, hunt large animals with wooden spears, and
utilize fire. They were also our first ancestors to construct simple shelters out of wood and rock.
Interestingly a comparison between Neanderthal and modern human DNA suggests the two lineages
diverged from a common ancestor, most likely Homo heidelbergensis!
Discovery
On October 21, 1907, Daniel Hartmann spotted a jaw while working in a sandpit in Mauer, near
Heidelberg, Germany (49.3389Β° N, 8.7986Β° E.) The jaw had human like teeth but was very large and

H. 2000), which were found together with stone tools and the remains of more than 10 butchered
horses. This evidence shows they flourished in a rich and diverse cooling epoch called the Pleistocene,
which was a cooling period with intermittent glaciers covering North America and Europe (Eldredge
2000) and deserts spread over northern Africa separating the populations of plants and animals,
including humans (Zuk 2013). These cooling and recurrent glaciations led to the physical adaptation
of shorter and wider bodies in an attempt to conserve heat in this cooler climate.
Dating
Many fossils of this species have been dated with various methods. One such was by sequencing
mitochondrial DNA from a femur bone found at the Sima de los Huesos ( pit of bones ) in northern
Spain by Svante Paabo, a biologist at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology. After
sequencing, researchers compared the result with genetic information from Neanderthals and
Denisovans and dated them to over 300,000 years (Meyer 2013).
Description
The first preserved bones for this species was a lower jaw with teeth, found near Heidelberg,
Germany. Other fossils include 5,500 bone fragments from 28 individuals found in The Pit of Bones ,
Spain, and possibly a fossilized skullcap discovered in northern India s Narmada Valley that currently
represents the easternmost occurrence (Meyer 2013).

Essay on Parkinson Disease (PD)
Introduction
Parkinson disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized mainly by physical
and psychological disabilities. This disorder was named after James Parkinson, an English physician
who first described it as shaking palsy in 1817 (Goetz, Factr, and Weiner, 2002). Jean Martin Charcot,
who was a French neurologist, then progressed and further refined the description of the disease and
identified other clinical features of PD (Goetz, Factr, and Weiner, 2002). PD involves the loss of cells
that produce the neurotransmitter dopamine in a part of the brain stem called the substansia nigra,
which results in several signs and symptoms (Byrd, Marks, and Starr, 2000). It is manifested clinically
by tremor, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although many theories and hypotheses were raised as to why this happens, there is no solid
information supporting the physiological cause of this, but it is surely one of various factors that may
lead to the development of PD.
Neuroanatomy of the Basal Ganglia It has been known that PD is a disorder affecting the basal
ganglia. The term basal ganglia is generally applied to a collection of nuclei situated deep within the
cerebral hemispheres, lying laterally to the thalamus (Gazzeniga, George, and Mangun, 2008). The
basal ganglia are important subcortical structures. They are composed of five nuclei: caudate,
putamen, globus pallidus, subthalamic nucleus, and substantia nigra. These nuclei are not thought of a
single anatomical entity; rather, they form a functional unity whose contribution is greatly to motor
control. Interestingly, this system does not influence movement through spinal cord pathways, but
rather acts as part of a feedback loop to all areas of the cerebral cortex, with primary input into motor
areas (Aird, 2000). A number of excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitters are what control this
whole process, and a balance of both is required to ensure that smooth, purposeful movement takes
place. In order to understand the pathways of which the basal ganglia take part in, it is essential to
know the input and output connections of the basal ganglia. The input

Ictober Research Papers
The ink left nothing untouched, staining and smudging the table, scratch paper, and even my hand. A
mess of paper and ink surrounded me, but only one area was left organized. My sketchbook that I
filled with meticulous work and effort for the past 30 days stared back at me. Thirty days of work
filled the sketchbook to the brim, both the good and bad. I finally finished the final piece I had
completed InkTober.
InkTober is a social media phenomenon that took the artist world by storm. For every day of October,
you are to make one drawing that incorporates ink in its media. The theme or subject of drawing is
completely up to the artist, as long as the piece has ink colored or black then it fits right into InkTober.
Then, once you re satisfied ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of my pieces consisted of fanart or simple original pieces exploring inking styles. I admittedly
favored one series, Love Live!, over the others, but I was grateful for the inspiration. Some drawings I
practiced perspective and colors, like the first and fourth day respectively, others I tested styles of
shading and texture. Going from a pencil sketch, to simple lining, and finally to detailed inking was a
fulfilling experience.
I would finish inking the drawing for the day and quickly sketch an outline for the following day in
pencil. This schedule was helpful and time efficient since the most time consuming part of drawing is
figuring out what to draw and how to start it. However, I could only do this due to the leniency of my
school schedule and sparse amount of homework at that time. So when work started picking up at
school two weeks into October, it became a struggle to finish one day s drawing, not to mention
preparing for the following days.
The output and quality of my art in the middle of the month took a drop as I began studying for tests,
in class writings, and the PSAT. It was at this time that Inktober became a real challenge. Not only do
you have to plan and compose a drawing, but you have to manage your schedule and make time to do
so. Unlike professional artists or people with flexible jobs, students are hard pressed with their school
schedule and extracurricular

Alcohol Expectancy Questionnaire
Impact of Alcohol
1. None of the categories in the Alcohol Expectancy Questionnaire are sufficient reasons to consume
alcohol throughout the day; however, many individuals do look at the use of alcohol in the ways listed
in the categories. As unfortunate as it is, there are many different reasons people pick up a drink but
they all ultimately believe the alcohol will help whatever situation they are in. What those individuals
fail to realize is how alcohol works against those problems. In questions 1 5 they view it as a
transforming agent by making the future seem brighter but alcohol only does that by impairing the
cerebral cortex of the brain and causes them to make careless choices because alcohol tells them
everything will be okay. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When considering alcohol, marijuana, and cocaine, it is actually hard to classify them all as the same
thing because they all have their own individual effects on the body. The classmate was correct when
saying marijuana and alcohol have similar effects on behavior, but even then, they are only similar to a
certain extent. Alcohol and marijuana are similar because they both act as a depressant on the body s
nervous system when entered into the blood stream. Both substances cause the individual to become
impaired in one way or another and lose the ability to do some of the things sober people can do.
However, alcohol causes the body to lose balance, alter the individuals to speak properly, impairs their
sleep cycle, and at times causes aggressive behavior. Marijuana, on the other hand, over activates the
cannabinoid receptors causing a disruption of memory, alters perceptions in regards to sound and
movement by slowing it down, and numbing portions of the body as a whole. When adding cocaine
into the equation, that s where the comparison is thrown off completely. Cocaine does the complete
opposite and acts as a stimulant by blocking the removal of dopamine in the synapses of the brain
(National Institute of Drug Abuse) . Cocaine causes the consumer to be energetic, talkative, and
mentally alert which later leads to them crashing and hitting an extreme low. Cocaine causes
tachycardia, arrhythmia, abdominal pain, and possible strokes/seizures due to the long term respiratory
problems. Though they are all different, the biggest problem in their statement was that they all should
be legalized. In my opinion none of them should be legal because they are all drugs which are

The Role of Sight, Scent, and Sound by the White-tailed Deer
Use and relative role of sight, scent, and sound by white tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) to locate
and select between different types of foods
Introduction
The foraging habits of white tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus; hereafter deer) have been
extensively researched. Studies have evaluated seasonal influence as well as other environmental
influences on forage selection by deer (Moen 1981, Rogers et al. 1981, McCullough 1985, and
others). However, no such research has ever tested to determine what senses deer use to locate and
select between different food types or the relative importance of each sense involved in that process.
We are missing much of the basic knowledge of physiology and anatomy related to the sensory
capabilities of deer (D Angelo et al. 2006). Information from this type of research is becoming
increasingly important to wildlife biologists, as they can use it to improve other forage selection
studies aimed at reducing crop depredation or other wildlife damage. So little is known about the role
of sight, smell, and sound in deer ability to locate and select between forage types, therefore
quantitative information in this area of research needs further attention (Sayre et al. 1992). By
understanding the importance of each sense in the location and selection of different food types by
deer, new studies can be set up that focus on the most important sense, while also considering what
effects the other senses have on their behavior. As

Taking a Look at Body Art
Research Assignment (Body Art) Body painting is a certain form of art that continued with humans
through the ancient times to the modern day times, where artists use the human body as canvasses to
show beauty like no other style of artwork can. African, European, Asia, and Australian tribes have
shown records that body painting was used. The tribes were using pigments from plant leaves and
fruits to decorate themselves because body art was an important part of their lives. Body art would
represent qualities of the people, goals for life, gods, and many war themes. The first full body
painting arose in 1933 of a naked model in Chicago. Body painting spread out during the 1960 s when
hippies began the movement in the United States. It is important to clarify that body painting is not
just applied to nude bodies, but also can be applied to pieces of skin. Alexa Meade is a very skilful
artist and has a certain style and view of body painting herself. Alexa was born and raised in 1986 in
Washington, D.C. In 2009, Meade graduated from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY majoring in
political science. Meade received her bachelor s degree, but never attended art school. Meade was
forced to teach herself how to paint, which started at the age of 15. When interviewed, Meade stated, I

Developing Technology Systems From Cyber Criminals
In our growing global world companies rely heavily on their IT infrastructure to accomplish critical
business functions. To effectively compete in a fast paced, multifaceted, global economy,
organizations are employing new technologies at an unprecedented rate. In most cases, either ignoring
or not fully understanding the increased exposure to their business. The difficulty s facing
organizations today in this global market is how they will protect new technology systems from cyber
criminals.
The challenges that organizations face today lays in security both physical and logical. Having good
physical security in place is just as important as having those logical controls. Organizations today
need both having one without the other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There could also be a power failures that can disrupt operations. The intention of every organization
should be to have a contingency plan in place throughout its business units to help enterprise business

In addition to continuity planning organizations must maintain a current security policy that enforces
employee training. Human threats either intentionally or unintentional can have a significant effect on
an organization. Physical security is only half the battle organizations must also have those logical
controls in place. Threats come from outside influences that want to penetrate the business the reasons
range from stealing data to hacktivism. As corporations continue to face new risks they also have to
contend with the difficult task of protecting both internal and external customers against identity theft.
Logical controls are used to safeguard against unauthorized access to computing resources. Logical
controls are a combination of hardware and software used to detect and prevent intruders on the
corporate network. There are also detection systems that focus on suspicious activity on the host based
to fight against insider threat. When a company has systems in place to monitor network behavior, it
can flag anomalies in traffic traversing the network. Target Corporation had this type of software

Wonder Character Analysis Essay On Julian Character
Evaluations What characters did you like/dislike? In the book Wonder, there are many interesting
characters like any person there a great things about them and things that are not so great. One of the
main characters in Wonder is Julian. In the book, he is constantly making August feel less then human.
He is always beating him down and making him feel like he is a freak. Throughout the whole book, he
really is (for lack of a better word) a huge jerk! Not only does he bully Auggie but also he bullies Jack,
even is rude to many of his other classmates, who really have not done anything wrong to him.

Stepper Motors
1. Introduction
This is the first in a series of articles on using Forth to interact with the real world. We will explore
how to control motors of various types (such as servomotors and stepper motors), switch power to
devices, and sense the environment. Each article will present a project that can be used to demonstrate
the ideas we are going to discuss.
In this first article, I want to lay the foundation for the future columns and discuss the use of the PC
parallel port to control stepper motors. We will adopt the fantasy that we are working on some
microprocessor based control application and will be using the PC parallel port as a proxy for the
digital I/O channels on our controller. To the extent possible, the code will be ... Show more content

The control is relative, meaning that there is no way to determine the shaft position directly. You can
only command the motor to rotate a certain amount clockwise or counter clockwise from its current
position. These commands consist of energizing the various motor coils in a particular sequence of
patterns. Each pattern causes the motor to move one step. Smooth motion results from presenting the
patterns in the proper order.
Features that stepper motors provide include:
* Excellent rotational accuracy * Large torque * Small size * Work well over a range of speeds * Can
be used for motion or position control
There are two types of stepper motors:
* Bipolar motors, with two coils. These have four wires on them (see Figure One a). They are tricky to
control because they require changing the direction of the current flow through the coils in the proper
sequence. We will discuss these motors further when we get to the topic of DC motor control. *
Unipolar motors, with two center tapped coils which can be treated as four coils (see Figure One b).
These have six or eight (or sometimes five) wires, and can be controlled from a microprocessor with
little more than four transistors (see Figure Two).

Literary Analysis Of Romeo And Juliet
Formal Literary Analysis Romeo and Juliet To be wronged is nothing, unless you continue to
remember it. In Romeo and juliet by Shakespeare we see two households being torn apart by an
ancient grudge, but is almost resolved due to Romeo, a Montague and Juliet, a Capulet. Shakespeare
uses the destructive nature of holding grudges in Romeo and Juliet to further the plot of the story, and
and to also further character development. Shakespeare uses the destructive nature of holding grudges
in Romeo and Juliet to further the plot and character development. Early in the play the reader sees
that both the Capulets and the Montagues have an Ancient Grudge . this is seen when Tybalt, of house
capulet starts a fight with the Montagues. Tybalt says What, drawn, and talk of peace? I hate the word,
As I hate hell, all Montagues, and thee. Have at thee, coward! (1.5.60 62). Tybalt starts to put tension

more effectively the theme of Carpe Diem than the other poem. To the virgins, to make much time, it
talks about that young women should go and get married because time passes fast. They should go and

Comparing The Sixth Sense And The Shining
What if you had a unique ability? What would you do with it? How would you use it? In the movies,
The Sixth Sense and The Shining, that is just what the main characters have the ability to achieve, a
supernatural ability. The Shining revolves around five year old Danny Torrance. Danny s father, Jack,

Both The Shining and The Sixth Sense share a common theme. A theme that is found in both movies
is a supernatural theme. When an event occurs that is supernatural, it is most times perceived as a
frightening, almost terrifying event. In both movies there were many supernatural occurrences. For
instance, in The Shining, when Jack enters room 237 he sees a young woman sitting in the tub, a
ghoul. Upon seeing Jack, the ghoul slowly pushes back the curtain and immerges from the tub
walking towards Jack. Jack seeing a, sexual invitation, advances towards the women. The women
grabs his face and begins kissing him. Jack notices in the mirror that the women is rotting and
becomes frightened, and runs away while the ghoul laughs hysterically. This is bizarre for the reason
that the only humans in the Overlook hotel are Danny, his mother Wendy, and his father Jack.
Therefore it can be concluded that the ghoul is a ghost in the hotel. There are also scenes towards, the
end of the movie, that display to the viewer that the hotel is aiding Jack in killing his wife Wendy. For
example, when Wendy is escaping the Overlook Hotel towards the end she meets up with the ghost
with a bloody hand as a way of stalling her from escaping before her son is killed. Both these
instances, along with many more, prove the theme of supernatural in the movie The

Forecasting Using Eviews
Data The variables of interest are oil imports to Germany, and temperature in Germany. The latter is
used as a leading indicator for the former, to improve on the forecast obtained by the univariate model.
Both variables are collected over a time range from January 1985 until and including December 1997,
whereas the last year is not used for constructing the optimal forecast, obtained by fitting a model
through the data until the end of 1996. This will enable us to forecast the year 1997 using our model,

Film Films Of Alfred Hitchcock
Films of Alfred Hitchcock
Humans have an insatiable urge for entertainment, part of which is often satisfied through watching
movies. Whenever a movie is written and subsequently produced, there are a couple of themes that
accompany it. Though all movies have a significant amount of simulated actions, many of the themes
do occur in the real life. Writers tend to have a particular thought to develop into a plot, which is often
inspired by real life events. Then, when a movie is being written and produced, the relevant personnel
decide which genre to adopt. Horror, science fiction and action are some of the categories for movies.
In this paper, the focus lies on a 1960 Alfred Hitchcock film, Psycho where a theme comprising of
violence, sex ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As noted with the other movies, there is hardly a film with a single theme; many have more than even
two, and Psycho is no exception. Even though it has a number of these, this paper, as already indicated
will primarily focus on sexuality, violence and phallic of proxy. When Crane decides to vanish with
her employer s money, the boss unfortunately, sees her. Consequently, this causes her to be nervous,
and makes wrong decisions in the process. After overcoming the seemingly opposition fronted by a
police officer who finds her asleep, Crane continues to a motel called Bates motel, belonging to a Mr.
Norman Bates(Smith, p14).
Up to that point, one can see several themes including that of symbolic economy. First, when Crane
decided to steal the money, the financial pressure she was experiencing catalyzed the decision. It is not
always that horror movies are used in relation to money related issues, and especially in matter of
debts. Yet, movies have a way of affecting people in a number of positive ways especially when the
plot resonates with the normal life. According to Breslin (p.176), the media, especially through the
movies influence and influence the human behavior significantly. When showing a woman who
decides to elope with the employer s money, the Psycho captures the mind of the viewers as it related
with the cases they face each day.
The issue of symbolic economy in the movie is not limited to the theft

Conch Shell In Lord Of The Flies
In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, a plane crashes on an island and a group of

By keeping the fire going they hope to get the attention of people passing who will rescue them.
Because it is linked so closely with the boys return it becomes a connection to civilisation. For
example, the quote The fire is the most important thing on the island. How can we ever be rescued
except by luck, if we don t keep a fire going? Is a fire too much for us to make? Look at us! How
many are we? And yet we can t keep a fire going to make smoke. Don t you understand? Can t you see
we ought to ought to die before we let the fire out? (Pg 80 81) is an example of how important the
signal fire was. In order to stay connected to civilization, the group of boys had to keep the fire going
because it was their only hope for survival. In the early parts of the novel the boys want to maintain
the fire and keep it going which shows the boys want to be able to go home to order and civilization.
However, when the fire is allowed to go out this shows the boys becoming savages. It is ironic that at
the end of the novel a fire does attract a ship, but it is not the signal fire it is the fire that Jack and his
group use to kill Ralph. When the boys let the fire go out they become savages which shows the signal
fire being a form of civilization. When the fire dies out so does any sense of

the brain. Moreover, ADHD diagnosed patients have been proven to be positively affected by the drug
and have demonstrated more effective functioning.
Although adderall is advantageous for individuals with the disorder, the drug is not recommended for
recreational purposes. Over the recent years, adderall abuse has become increasingly popular amongst
eager college students looking to focus better in their studies and ultimately perform better

commonly the drug is misused. It is said by the National Institute on Drug Abuse that for individuals
with ADHD, medications such as adderall can be calming, whereas others taking the drug without the

For those individuals prescribed adderall or attempting to take the drug for recreational purposes must

Geology Personal Statement

My interest in Geology encouraged me to join the Liverpool Geological Society and attend several

how Geology affects different societies, even those at the remotest corners of the world. I have also
attended two recent Herdman symposiums at Liverpool University and particularly appreciated the

What Are The Six Abiotic Factors That Affect Coral Reefs
Six abiotic factors that affect the organisms living in the ecosystem are sunlight, temperature, the
density, the buoyancy level, the salinity level, and the penetration of light. The sunlight entering the
ecosystem allows the process of photosynthesis to continue. This process provided nutrients, food, and
energy to the plants and animals in the area, allowing the food chain to be secure. The temperature of
the water should be between 68 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit. If the temperatures go lower than the range,
or higher, some organisms who use the coral reef as a habitat may not be able to adapt or survive in
the new conditions. The density of the coral reef affects the communities of animals and other biotic
factors since some of them can only survive between certain depths of the water. The buoyancy level
of the water in the coral reef contributes to the ability to move for the animals. Buoyancy is the force
that supports an organism s weight. The salinity level in a coral reef is greater than the salinity in a
freshwater ecosystem. If the salinity levels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of In The Time Of The Butterflies By Julia Alvarez
In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez fictionalizes the harrowing lives of the Mirabal sisters,
who came to represent an underground resistance against the dictator of their native Dominican
Republic, Trujillo. Though the Mirabal sisters were indeed real and parts of Alvarez s novel reflect
true events, this is a fictionalized account of what these sisters faced throughout their lives. Readers
know from the beginning that three of the four sisters will not survive the regime, but they were
shown to be noble warriors for their people throughout the novel regardless. Alvarez utilizes
immersion, tension, and point of view to weave a unique story of survival and strength in the face of
opposition. Perhaps the most important tool that Alvarez uses to convey the story of the Mirabal
sisters is immersion. Readers are thrust into the world of the Trujillo dictatorship and though they can
only grasp the experiences through the eyes of the sisters, their lives are more than enough to
exemplify the cruelty of this dictator. From the beginning of the novel, DedΓ© is silently judging an
American woman for her lack of understanding about Dominican culture. Through small details like
the fact that there are no street signs because most people can t read, there are revelations about the
country in itself without just stating facts and statistics. Alvarez uses many other tools to immerse her
readers and she notably uses Spanish words and sentences throughout this English novel. Some
sentences are translated throughout but she does choose to leave some words untranslated both in
dialogue and in the general narration from the sisters. Though this is a simple idea, it reinforces the
setting of the Spanish speaking Dominican Republic and assists in immersing readers with only a few
words. How and when three of the four Mirabal sisters died is established before the book is even
opened as it was a true event and it is identified in any summary of the novel. Yet the story is partially
told by these three sisters anyway, creating an unbearable sense of tension throughout the book as
readers wonder when they will read of their deaths. They also continually interact with Trujillo, each
scene making the family s

Lewis Mere Christianity
Lewis discusses the difficult topics of atonement and the Christian life within chapters four and five of
Mere Christianity. Lewis maintains his mere Christianity explanation of the topics by not focusing on
the multiple theories, by not diving deeper into explanations that will never be fully adequate for
Earthly beings, and by focusing on what is true across all denominations of Christianity; he focuses on
what is true for mere Christianity. I find his approach to the doctrines of atonement and the Christian
life to be strong. He does not give those who doubt an escape from accepting the truth. Lewis does not
focus on the multiple theories and warns the reader against focusing on the theories and not on what
all Christians agree upon. He states The central Christian belief is that Christ s death has somehow put

Plutarch s Life Of The Heroes
Plutarch was a son of the philosopher named Aristobulus. He was born in 46 AD in Chaeronea,
Boeotia; and he died in 120 AD. Plutarch was also known as a historian, essayist and biographer who
had left a huge literary heritage for humanity. By traveling abroad to other countries such as Egypt,
Greece..., Plutarch assembled lots of information about the heroes of the Roman and Greece
mythology. After that, he used that information to write about lives of heroes. He gathered all
fascinating biographies in his massive books: Plutarch Greek Lives , Plutarch Roman Lives and The
Parallel Lives of Plutarch . Those books bring a reputation to Plutarch and he became a famous
biographer at that time. In his books, he wrote the lives of the heroes in order of time to show his
respects to those people of both countries. The short biographies in his books are about childhood,
achievements and deaths of the heroes. Besides that, he also added some interesting stories and
lessons in those biographies to educate his readers. His books were translated into many different
languages and they have great influences to modern historians and modern biographers. After reading
the book Greek Lives of Plutarch, I was impressed by the biography about Lycurgus. Lycurgus was
written as the father of Sparta. He was legislator who wrote many constitutions to build up and
maintain the strength and power of Sparta during 500 years. There are some differences between the
biography of Lycurgus and

Personal Statement For The Greek Debt Crisis
Debt is a problem that everyone fears. When a person owes money to someone else, you are in fear,
worry and pain. The biggest debt crisis I witnessed was the Greek debt crisis. It started back in 2009
and continues now. The problem is rooted back to when the Greek government borrowed money from
external sources on a regular basis to pay for unproductive government projects and luxurious social
welfare schemes for its people and came to a point where the Greek government could not pay back
their loans and all their expenditures after the global financial crisis in 2008. When I first read about
the crisis, I became interested. I researched and slowly understood the basics of economics and
finance and how captivating it was. At that time, I had a mindset that my career path would be geared
towards finance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These subjects exposed me to the business world and highlighted my interest and strengths in each of
those subjects. I started leaning towards Accounting and Finance after learning Accounting and
realising how important accounting is to a nation. I learned that the debt crisis in Greece was a result
of insufficient high quality government financial information. This motivated me to pursue this degree
so that I can assist Malaysia in boosting its economy and not making the mistakes of the Greek
government. Besides that, I also favored accounting because of my passion towards mathematics and
numbers. Throughout my schooling, I have always had a zeal for mathematics. Since accounting
revolves around numbers, mathematics and calculations, it is ideal for

Stereotypes In Dungeons And Dragons
Dungeons and Dragons is a role playing game that requires time, patience, and a relatively good
imagination. Society has grown up with this game for several decades and yet the majority has no
knowledge of its works and rules other than the misconceptions of stereotypes and confused
explanations. When asked about the game, certain social groups are targeted as the player when, in
truth, the quantity is much larger than previously thought. Dungeons and Dragons is a game that is
more than a game. It is a bonding experience with many personal properties, overcomes the
stereotypes, and that everyone can try or witness at least once in their life.
This massive, medieval timed, role playing game can be easily misunderstood for good reason; ...

Some players like the imagination the game requires and using the power of their mind to create a
fantasy world where they can start and end wars, create civilizations, battle monsters, and trek on an
epic adventure. Not only is the game based on the creativity of the player, but structure is a key
element just like it is in the human language or in music. For example, a young man who has played
soccer and enjoyed the sport for most of his life may find a liking to the structure of the game and
creating his own ideas in context. Another likely aspect to admire is the social requirement; you
cannot play this game alone. It requires at least two people, but most parties have five to eight players.
This provides a face to face interaction that can lead to bonding and friendships. An example is when a
younger adult who enjoys spending his time with technology is given a chance to have contact with
other people on a similar subject, there is always the chance of making new friends. The game is also
built around performance of characters, based on dice rolls and abilities obtained, and problem solving
skills that the Dungeon Master creates during the game play. Because of it s many parts, Dungeons
and Dragons can attract many different people to enjoy the

Of Hospitality By Jacques Derrida
Jacques Derrida created controversy and theories that have influenced philosophy, literature,
linguistics, anthropology and a number of other fields. The scope of his work is so large that some
argue it unreasonable to accept his word as legitimate in0 certain fields. In Of Hospitality, Derrida
describes and brings to the forefront one of the primary issues of cosmopolitan ethics; what is the
appropriate approach to extending and receiving hospitality and what are the implications of such
action? Through an intensive understanding of this work, Derrida eventually reaches the conclusion
that the balance between being absolutely hospitable and conditionally hospitable is completely
necessary. Is it more just and more loving to question or not to question? (Of Hospitality, 29). Each
has the ability to corrupt the other but both are needed in order for hospitality and, in general, socially
responsible behavior.
Why this is important
Hospitality cannot be practically applied without the host establishing some set of limits, but at the
exact time these limits are created, the visitor/guest is put into a position of wanting in freedom. This
is the aporia that Derrida is concerned with. According to Niall Lucy in A Derrida Dictionary; Aporia
is a Greek term denoting a logical contradiction. The word choice here is interesting because
contradiction implies an issue that is resolvable in a certain light as well as being a foundation on
which to build. As Derrida puts

Demonstrate administration s part with making and managing the authoritative society. Hierarchical society has a huge effect on the general execution of an organization. Authoritative society is the arrangement of imparted, underestimated verifiable presumptions that a gathering holds and that decides how it sees, contemplates, and responds to its different surroundings (Barney, 1986). In this paper, I will inspect the components of Starbucks hierarchical society that added to its accomplishment in a worldwide economy, survey the adequacy of its administration choices in giving imaginative offerings to its clients, focus one key administration competency, and theorize on whether the organization would accomplish long haul supportability as a worldwide pioneer in the espresso business without the association s CEO, Howard Shultz. On account of the accomplishment of Starbucks, its hierarchical society has been driven and engaged by the originator and CEO, Howard Schultz. Howard needed to grow the organization and when he went to Italy before the redesign of the first Starbucks he needed to reflect the ideas of the cafΓ©s in Italy. The key viewpoint to acknowledge here is that hierarchical society influences execution. Howard Schultz turned into the CEO of Starbucks in 1987. • 8. Second Wave Of Feminism Feminism is the fight for equality among the sexes. It can be dated back to the mid 19th century with women like Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony. The first wave feminist procured the right to vote for American women. The following second and third waves built upon what the founding feminists created. The second wave of feminism was set off by the disenchantment women across America were experiencing. This disenchantment was caused by the nuclear family, and the roles that the women in the 1950s were thrust into. The second wave is said to have lasted from the 1960s 1980s. Sometime after the 1980s, most likely the early to mid 1990s, third wave feminists began to rear their heads. The third wave build on the advancements made by the first and second waves. There has been controversy regarding the thought that the third wave is actually just an extension of the second. This paper will explore the second and third waves of feminism as well as their relationship between themselves. The second wave of feminism is said to have been born in 1963 with the publication of the Feminine Mystique by Betty Friedan. Friedan s ground breaking novel took an introspective look into the life of a woman in the 1950s. It questioned all of the roles that women were expected to portray. The 1950s woman was supposed to be a wife first, a mother second, and a somewhere much further down the list. Friedan made this women question if they were really okay with living in the margins. The second wave took what the first wave had done and ran with it. They were fighting for equality among sexes, reproductive rights for women, women s role in the work place, and domestic violence, and they established the crisis surrounding rape in America. There were many key events that occurred during the second wave of feminism. In 1960 the Pill was approved by the FDA. In 1961, President John F. Kennedy established the President s Commission on the Status of Women. He appointed Eleanor Roosevelt the chair of the commission. JFK also signed into law the Equal Pay Act of 1963. The Hardest Pieces Of Meat One of the hardest pieces of meat to cook is the Tri tip steak roast, because most are three pounds and many tend to burn the outside of the meat while the middle is stone cold raw. I like my meat cooked to a nice medium temperature, I feel the best way to cook a Tri tip steak is on an outdoor briquette barbeque, anything other than this is just not doing this piece of meat any justice. Let s start with the grocery store, to have the best meat that will melt in your mouth, always start with a nice piece of raw beef. Meat is graded on a scale according to marbling effects. Nice Restaurants only used USDA Prime. You and I can t buy Prime meat in the grocery store. The USDA grades meat, and Prime is young, well fed cattle and has an abundant marbling. Most grocery stores can carry USDA Choice meat, and this is my recommendation of what to buy; it is less marbling but is still very tender and juicy. You have to be careful, some stores don t carry this and try to sell the lowest grade which is USDA Select. Select is fairly less tender, less marbling , less on flavor and juiciness. Stay away from USDA Select. Vons carries a nice USDA Choice meat, so I recommend it. Seasoning the meat is a crucial element of this process. I like to bring my roast out of the refrigerator and season it, letting it sit on the counter so it comes to room temperature, while my briquettes are getting ready on the barbeque. • 11. Figurative Language In MLK Jr. s I Have A Dream Martin Luther King Jr. was the man who wrote the speech entitled I have a dream and presented it to nearly 250,000 people on August 23, 1963. In that speech, MLK Jr. used several different types of figurative language/rhetorical devices in order to convey his message to the people on a deeper level. These devices include personification, allusion, symbolism, hyperbole, metaphor, simile, and anaphora. Personification is a form of figurative language that gives an object human qualities. One example of this in MLK Jr. s writing would include I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up, live out the true meaning of its creed . Instead of just straight up telling the audience the name of something, MLK Jr. was able to show the reader who he ment with the use of context clues. Afterall, if any author can inform their audience of the person or thing they are referencing without telling the audience who or what it actually is, they can keep the audience in the mind set they want to have their audience in instead of having their mind wander off, thinking about other things in which that person or object was or is currently involved in. MLK Jr. took advantage of this by only referencing Lincoln through Emancipation Proclamation, which was related to the topic at hand, racial equality of people of color. Symbolism itself is the use of a symbol (like an object or fact) to represent an idea or quality that is not what the symbol itself physically is. MLK Jr. used symbolism as a way to show the reader or listener to his speech his ideas or his point in a clearer manner. One example of symbolism he used would be, Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of justice. In that quote MLK talks about a dark and desolate valley of segregation and the sunlit path of justice. The dark and desolate valley of segregation is referring to the U.S. at that point in time. These cooling and recurrent glaciations led to the physical adaptation of shorter and wider bodies in an attempt to conserve heat in this cooler climate. This disorder was named after James Parkinson, an English physician who first described it as shaking palsy in 1817 (Goetz, Factr, and Weiner, 2002). Jean Martin Charcot, who was a French neurologist, then progressed and further refined the description of the disease and identified other clinical features of PD (Goetz, Factr, and Weiner, 2002). It is manifested clinically by tremor, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although many theories and hypotheses were raised as to why this happens, there is no solid information supporting the physiological cause of this, but it is surely one of various factors that may lead to the development of PD. Neuroanatomy of the Basal Ganglia It has been known that PD is a disorder affecting the basal ganglia. The term basal ganglia is generally applied to a collection of nuclei situated deep within the cerebral hemispheres, lying laterally to the thalamus (Gazzeniga, George, and Mangun, 2008). The basal ganglia are important subcortical structures. They are composed of five nuclei: caudate, putamen, globus pallidus, subthalamic nucleus, and substantia nigra. These nuclei are not thought of a single anatomical entity; rather, they form a functional unity whose contribution is greatly to motor control. Interestingly, this system does not influence movement through spinal cord pathways, but rather acts as part of a feedback loop to all areas of the cerebral cortex, with primary input into motor areas (Aird, 2000). A number of excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitters are what control this whole process, and a balance of both is required to ensure that smooth, purposeful movement takes place. In order to understand the pathways of which the basal ganglia take part in, it is essential to know the input and output connections of the basal ganglia. The input ... Going from a pencil sketch, to simple lining, and finally to detailed inking was a fulfilling experience. When considering alcohol, marijuana, and cocaine, it is actually hard to classify them all as the same thing because they all have their own individual effects on the body. The classmate was correct when saying marijuana and alcohol have similar effects on behavior, but even then, they are only similar to a certain extent. Alcohol and marijuana are similar because they both act as a depressant on the body s nervous system when entered into the blood stream. Both substances cause the individual to become impaired in one way or another and lose the ability to do some of the things sober people can do. However, alcohol causes the body to lose balance, alter the individuals to speak properly, impairs their sleep cycle, and at times causes aggressive behavior. Marijuana, on the other hand, over activates the cannabinoid receptors causing a disruption of memory, alters perceptions in regards to sound and movement by slowing it down, and numbing portions of the body as a whole. When adding cocaine into the equation, that s where the comparison is thrown off completely. Cocaine does the complete opposite and acts as a stimulant by blocking the removal of dopamine in the synapses of the brain (National Institute of Drug Abuse) . The Role of Sight, Scent, and Sound by the White-tailed Deer Use and relative role of sight, scent, and sound by white tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) to locate and select between different types of foods Introduction The foraging habits of white tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus; hereafter deer) have been extensively researched. Studies have evaluated seasonal influence as well as other environmental influences on forage selection by deer (Moen 1981, Rogers et al. 1981, McCullough 1985, and others). However, no such research has ever tested to determine what senses deer use to locate and select between different food types or the relative importance of each sense involved in that process. We are missing much of the basic knowledge of physiology and anatomy related to the sensory capabilities of deer (D Angelo et al. 2006). Information from this type of research is becoming increasingly important to wildlife biologists, as they can use it to improve other forage selection studies aimed at reducing crop depredation or other wildlife damage. So little is known about the role of sight, smell, and sound in deer ability to locate and select between forage types, therefore quantitative information in this area of research needs further attention (Sayre et al. 1992). By understanding the importance of each sense in the location and selection of different food types by deer, new studies can be set up that focus on the most important sense, while also considering what effects the other senses have on their behavior. Taking a Look at Body Art Research Assignment (Body Art) Body painting is a certain form of art that continued with humans through the ancient times to the modern day times, where artists use the human body as canvasses to show beauty like no other style of artwork can. African, European, Asia, and Australian tribes have shown records that body painting was used. The tribes were using pigments from plant leaves and fruits to decorate themselves because body art was an important part of their lives. Body art would represent qualities of the people, goals for life, gods, and many war themes. The first full body painting arose in 1933 of a naked model in Chicago. Body painting spread out during the 1960 s when hippies began the movement in the United States. It is important to clarify that body painting is not just applied to nude bodies, but also can be applied to pieces of skin. Alexa Meade is a very skilful artist and has a certain style and view of body painting herself. Alexa was born and raised in 1986 in Washington, D.C. In 2009, Meade graduated from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY majoring in political science. Meade received her bachelor s degree, but never attended art school. Each article will present a project that can be used to demonstrate the ideas we are going to discuss. In this first article, I want to lay the foundation for the future columns and discuss the use of the PC parallel port to control stepper motors. You can only command the motor to rotate a certain amount clockwise or counter clockwise from its current position. These commands consist of energizing the various motor coils in a particular sequence of patterns. Each pattern causes the motor to move one step. Smooth motion results from presenting the patterns in the proper order. Features that stepper motors provide include: * Excellent rotational accuracy * Large torque * Small size * Work well over a range of speeds * Can be used for motion or position control There are two types of stepper motors: * Bipolar motors, with two coils. These have four wires on them (see Figure One a). They are tricky to control because they require changing the direction of the current flow through the coils in the proper sequence. Both The Shining and The Sixth Sense share a common theme. A theme that is found in both movies is a supernatural theme. When an event occurs that is supernatural, it is most times perceived as a frightening, almost terrifying event. In both movies there were many supernatural occurrences. For instance, in The Shining, when Jack enters room 237 he sees a young woman sitting in the tub, a ghoul. Upon seeing Jack, the ghoul slowly pushes back the curtain and immerges from the tub walking towards Jack. Jack seeing a, sexual invitation, advances towards the women. What Are The Six Abiotic Factors That Affect Coral Reefs Six abiotic factors that affect the organisms living in the ecosystem are sunlight, temperature, the density, the buoyancy level, the salinity level, and the penetration of light. The sunlight entering the ecosystem allows the process of photosynthesis to continue. This process provided nutrients, food, and energy to the plants and animals in the area, allowing the food chain to be secure. The temperature of the water should be between 68 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit. If the temperatures go lower than the range, or higher, some organisms who use the coral reef as a habitat may not be able to adapt or survive in the new conditions. The density of the coral reef affects the communities of animals and other biotic factors since some of them can only survive between certain depths of the water. • 36. Analysis Of In The Time Of The Butterflies By Julia Alvarez In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez fictionalizes the harrowing lives of the Mirabal sisters, who came to represent an underground resistance against the dictator of their native Dominican Republic, Trujillo. Though the Mirabal sisters were indeed real and parts of Alvarez s novel reflect true events, this is a fictionalized account of what these sisters faced throughout their lives. Readers know from the beginning that three of the four sisters will not survive the regime, but they were shown to be noble warriors for their people throughout the novel regardless. Alvarez utilizes immersion, tension, and point of view to weave a unique story of survival and strength in the face of opposition. Perhaps the most important tool that Alvarez uses to convey the story of the Mirabal sisters is immersion. Readers are thrust into the world of the Trujillo dictatorship and though they can only grasp the experiences through the eyes of the sisters, their lives are more than enough to exemplify the cruelty of this dictator. From the beginning of the novel, DedΓ© is silently judging an American woman for her lack of understanding about Dominican culture. Through small details like the fact that there are no street signs because most people can t read, there are revelations about the country in itself without just stating facts and statistics. Alvarez uses many other tools to immerse her readers and she notably uses Spanish words and sentences throughout this English novel. Some sentences are translated throughout but she does choose to leave some words untranslated both in dialogue and in the general narration from the sisters. Though this is a simple idea, it reinforces the setting of the Spanish speaking Dominican Republic and assists in immersing readers with only a few words. How and when three of the four Mirabal sisters died is established before the book is even opened as it was a true event and it is identified in any summary of the novel. Yet the story is partially told by these three sisters anyway, creating an unbearable sense of tension throughout the book as readers wonder when they will read of their deaths. • 40. Personal Statement For The Greek Debt Crisis Debt is a problem that everyone fears. When a person owes money to someone else, you are in fear, worry and pain. The biggest debt crisis I witnessed was the Greek debt crisis. It started back in 2009 and continues now. The problem is rooted back to when the Greek government borrowed money from external sources on a regular basis to pay for unproductive government projects and luxurious social welfare schemes for its people and came to a point where the Greek government could not pay back their loans and all their expenditures after the global financial crisis in 2008. When I first read about the crisis, I became interested. I researched and slowly understood the basics of economics and finance and how captivating it was. At that time, I had a mindset that my career path would be geared towards finance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These subjects exposed me to the business world and highlighted my interest and strengths in each of those subjects. I started leaning towards Accounting and Finance after learning Accounting and realising how important accounting is to a nation. I learned that the debt crisis in Greece was a result of insufficient high quality government financial information. This motivated me to pursue this degree so that I can assist Malaysia in boosting its economy and not making the mistakes of the Greek government. Besides that, I also favored accounting because of my passion towards mathematics and numbers. Throughout my schooling, I have always had a zeal for mathematics. Since accounting revolves around numbers, mathematics and calculations, it is ideal for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Stereotypes In Dungeons And Dragons Dungeons and Dragons is a role playing game that requires time, patience, and a relatively good imagination. Society has grown up with this game for several decades and yet the majority has no knowledge of its works and rules other than the misconceptions of stereotypes and confused explanations. When asked about the game, certain social groups are targeted as the player when, in truth, the quantity is much larger than previously thought. Dungeons and Dragons is a game that is more than a game. It is a bonding experience with many personal properties, overcomes the stereotypes, and that everyone can try or witness at least once in their life. This massive, medieval timed, role playing game can be easily misunderstood for good reason; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some players like the imagination the game requires and using the power of their mind to create a fantasy world where they can start and end wars, create civilizations, battle monsters, and trek on an epic adventure. Not only is the game based on the creativity of the player, but structure is a key element just like it is in the human language or in music. For example, a young man who has played soccer and enjoyed the sport for most of his life may find a liking to the structure of the game and creating his own ideas in context. Another likely aspect to admire is the social requirement; you cannot play this game alone. It requires at least two people, but most parties have five to eight players. This provides a face to face interaction that can lead to bonding and friendships. An example is when a younger adult who enjoys spending his time with technology is given a chance to have contact with other people on a similar subject, there is always the chance of making new friends. The game is also built around performance of characters, based on dice rolls and abilities obtained, and problem solving skills that the Dungeon Master creates during the game play. Because of it s many parts, Dungeons and Dragons can attract many different people to enjoy the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Of Hospitality By Jacques Derrida Jacques Derrida created controversy and theories that have influenced philosophy, literature, linguistics, anthropology and a number of other fields. The scope of his work is so large that some argue it unreasonable to accept his word as legitimate in0 certain fields. In Of Hospitality, Derrida describes and brings to the forefront one of the primary issues of cosmopolitan ethics; what is the appropriate approach to extending and receiving hospitality and what are the implications of such action? Through an intensive understanding of this work, Derrida eventually reaches the conclusion that the balance between being absolutely hospitable and conditionally hospitable is completely necessary. Is it more just and more loving to question or not to question? (Of Hospitality, 29). Each has the ability to corrupt the other but both are needed in order for hospitality and, in general, socially responsible behavior. Why this is important Hospitality cannot be practically applied without the host establishing some set of limits, but at the exact time these limits are created, the visitor/guest is put into a position of wanting in freedom. This is the aporia that Derrida is concerned with. According to Niall Lucy in A Derrida Dictionary; Aporia is a Greek term denoting a logical contradiction. The word choice here is interesting because contradiction implies an issue that is resolvable in a certain light as well as being a foundation on which to build. As Derrida puts ...
