Essay Against Capital Punishment
At 8:00 p.m. it was nearing the end of John Evans last day on death row. He had spent most of the day
with his minister and family, praying and talking of what was to come. At 8:20 he was walked from
his cell down to the long hall to the execution room and strapped in the electric chair. At 8:30 p.m. the
first jolt of 1900 volts passed through Mr. Evans body. It lasted 30 seconds. Sparks and flames erupted
from the electrode tied to Mr. Evans leg. His body slammed against the straps holding him in the chair
and his fist clenched permanently. The electrode then burst from the strap holding it in place. A large
puff of gray smoke and sparks pored out from under the hood that covered his face. An overpowering
stench of burnt flesh and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The truth of the matter is, the United States should cease the use of capital punishment in both federal
and state prisons. Capital punishment is immoral and unethical; it degrades society, and lowers the
value of a human life. It does not deter murder, it is not economically efficient, and its effects are
irreversible. There is not one good reason to keep executing wrongdoers in the United States or
anywhere else.
Capital punishment goes against the morals and standards that our country is based upon. A
punishment that inflicts harm on a person can hardly be good or moral if it is purposeless. A
punishment may be given to a wrongdoer for one or a combination of the following reasons: (1) to
protect the community from the criminal returning to previous activity, (2) to rehabilitate the offender;
and (3) to restore the moral order breached by the violation. Capital punishment is not required to
accomplish any of these purposes. Other alternatives work better or at least as well (Robinson, 1999,
October 7). Killing is not the answer (Bender amp; Leone, 1987 p. 63). Recently some states have
been implementing life without parole as an alternative to death. This has proven just a successful as
the death penalty for punishment. It prevents criminals from returning to society, and is less expensive
than capital punishment (Vila amp; Morris, 1997, p.255). Another study shows that over 80% of those
serving life sentences will never commit another crime, and well

ABSTRACT
Observed meteorological data collected by two different types of automatic weather stations (AWS)
were statistically analysed in order to verify if there were a difference in the measurements due to the
different sensor types. The hypothesis is that the different types of AWS s will not be statistically
different. Data from January 2014 to February 2016 for six places in South Africa were analysed.
Significant differences were observed for rainfall totals, temperatures and wind speeds by using the
Wilcoxon Mann Whitney test.
1. Introduction
The objective of this study was to compare observed rainfall amounts, maximum air temperature,
minimum air temperature and maximum wind speeds at daily periods from two different types of
automatic weather stations. An automatic weather station (AWS) is defined by the WMO (1992a) as a
meteorological station where observations are made and from which the data is transmitted
automatically. The AWS was designed to accurately measure and record standard meteorological
variables. The design of AWS s may vary from measurement rates, methods on how the data is
retrieved or the intervals of when the data is reported (Tanner, 1990).
All functional AWS s must consist of certain specific features. These

An Overview and Commentary on Course Objectives Essay
Note to the reader: This essay is somewhat of an experiment. I am well aware of the standard
guidelines within which a student must present and argue ideas, and the implications of
nonconformity. However, if I have learned anything in this course, it is that genres and forms are
continually under scrutiny, being molded and changed, discarded and exchanged, for sake of efficacy,
veracity, adherence to ideology, or in reaction to otherwise unforeseen forces. Consider this as just
such a reaction; more accurately, it is my only recourse. In setting out to write this essay, I had a clear
objective. My task was to critically engage materials that were covered this term, and where possible
reflect, compare, contrast, and analyze those theories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a contemporary sense, there is an involvement between the reader and the text. This denies the
Formalist stance that the text is the sole source of meaning. Proponents of this theory fall onto a
spectrum, where at one pole the interpretive strategy of the reader entirely determines the text (Stanley
Fish), at the other pole is what falls into the realm of Formalism (text dominant), and in between is a
bi active stance, where the reader is both active and passive during the reading process (Wolfgang
Iser). Iser talks of an actual reader and an implied reader. The actual reader is one who brings to the
text all their knowledge and experience, what Barthes would term their déjà lu. The implied reader is
one which text itself attempts to shape or condition. For Iser, the reading process is one which is
gradually unfolding. The reader assimilates various facets of the text, and through this process dictates
(in part) the essence of the text. However, unlike some of Fish s earlier works where the reader is
effectively in creative control, Iser states the text imposes some constraints upon the reader. The
reader cannot make the text mean what they like, as the text provides a skeleton of meanings, norms,
and values that shape and control the reader s response. Thus, the convergence of text and reader
brings the literary work into existence (Iser 189). He goes on further to state that the text provokes
certain expectations which in

My Position As A First Year Composition Student
I am in a unique position as a First year Composition student in his mid thirties: I have a vast amount I
would like to say about myself and the world, yet I lack the technical and rhetorical prowess to
express myself efficiently. So, while I may have a lot to say, I don t have the skills necessary to say
much of anything. At least, this was my position in August of this year, at the start of the semester and
at my introduction to college level writing.
For as long as I can remember, I have always been a big proponent of the written word. I have been a
lover of books and writing for my entire life, and learned the Dos and Don ts of writing through my
exposure to books. Which is to say, I might be a damn good reader, but good
readers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But I was still by no means an
expert in rhetoric. Ten years later, despite a decade of professional, full time employment as a
technical writer, I am still severely lacking in any real rhetorical or literary expertise. At the start of
this semester, I could not differentiate between simple and complex sentences, nor explain a transitive
vs. intransitive verb, nor did I understand any but the most simplistic rhetorical devices. In other
words, I lacked the rhetoric of rhetoric.
Consider this: you bring your vehicle to an auto mechanic to resolve an issue, and you are attempting
to explain in mutually understood terms where the problem lies. The mechanic may have the most
advanced knowledge possible in his or her field. He or she will be able to diagnose your issue using
expensive, specialized equipment, and be able to draw upon years of experience to do so. Yet, as the
owner of the vehicle, and someone with no technical knowledge in this field, it is still up to you to
attempt to explain to the mechanic where to start looking for the problem.
It makes a noise when I turn left, you might say.
What kind of noise? the mechanic asks, Like a grinding noise? A bumping or knocking sound?
You re at a loss, but stammer out, It kind of goes, Whirl whirl whirl whiiiiirl, and makes a grinding
sound, then goes away once I straighten out the steering wheel.
Without skipping a beat, the mechanic replies: It sounds like a bad wheel

Reflective Reflection In English
Throughout this course, I have grown as a writer and learned many things I was previously unaware
of. What I pictured English 101 to entail is nothing compared to what I experienced. Going into this
class, I was thinking in the most negative tone: There is no way I am going to be able to write four full
pages, There is not enough time to write papers, The work load is overwhelming, There is only four
summarize grades. However, these thoughts quickly became reversed as the year progressed as I was
pushed to limits I did not even know I had. As I began writing, I became more aware of my strengths
and weakness, enjoyments and frustrations, and future plans and goals. After exploring all papers,
there are strengths and weaknesses prevalent throughout. It is important to know these qualities and
capacities in order to leverage certain strengths and improve specific weaknesses. Using this
knowledge, I came up with one overall weaknesses throughout my writing that show up in multiple
instances. One of them would be subject verb agreement. Subjects and verbs must agree with one
another in number (singular or plural). Thus, if a subject is singular, its verb must also be singular; if a
subject is plural, its verb must also be plural. In the present tense, nouns and verbs form plurals in
opposite ways: nouns add an s to the singular form; verbs remove the s from the singular form. For
example, talking about A Good Man is Hard to Find in paper one, I wrote Children tend to

Leadership Colin Powell Essay example
Ret. General Colin Powell
As a Non Commissioned Officer in the Pennsylvania Army Nation Guard, I realize the importance
and value of good leadership. A leader has to be able to understand and support their men, have
initiative, be quick on their feet, and accept responsibility for their actions. The personal traits that I
look for in a leader are courage, commitment, candor, competence, and integrity. Out of these the most
important one to me, is integrity. A man s word is his bond and the most important leadership trait
there is. Looking back, the man I see as a great leader that possesses these traits is Ret. General Colin
Powell. Colin Powell is one of the greatest military leaders in this country s history. He served this

This shows how respected he was among the Washington staff. This also shows the competence,
candor, and integrity Powell posses throughout his term in Washington D.C. Colin Powell continues to
advance through the ranks and through the staff jobs he was appointed to. He then served as senior
military aide to Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger, helping to coordinate the invasion of
Granada and the bombing of Libya (Biography.com, 2010). To help coordinate these attacks would
have to take great courage, because there s always a chance of casualties. He commits to these plans
and excels with both operations. Then, in 1991 Colin Powell was appointed to the Chairman of the
Joint Chiefs of Staff under President George H.W. Bush. In this position he excelled to a national
figure during Desert Shield and Desert Storm, because of the speed of the operations forcing Saddam
Hussein s forces out of Kuwait (Biography.com, 2010). Once again, it shows the courage,
competence, and commitment needed to fulfill the plan of the operations. He also was reappointed to
the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs under President Clinton. He remained in this position until he
disagreed with President Clinton s policy about homosexuals in the military. Powell later
compromised with President Clinton with the Don t ask, don t tell policy (Biography.com, 2010).

The Infectious Agent That Caused The Outbreak Of...
Outbreak at Watersedge game was a fun experience that allowed me to assimilate the epidemiological
process, which I used in order to find the infectious agent that caused the outbreak and to identify the
disease, caused by that agent. The process I went through in order to start my investigation started at
the Watersedge Department of Health, where I visited as a new intern. At first I met Leslie Hernandez,
the Health Planner, who directed me to Shoua Shinde, the epidemiologist and department detective ,
whose areas of expertise were biology, microbiology, biostatistics, and knowledge of communicable
diseases ( Outbreak at Watersedge, 2004). She informed me that there were many people in the
hospital with severe diarrhea and other symptoms and asked for my help in order to understand what
is going on. She introduced me to Terry Tower, the public health nurse, who offered me to analyze and
map the results of the interview for the first five patients. After mapping the results of five interviews I
pinpointed a place to start, which was the Thompson Park, because all five people aside from the other
activities and places went there on the same day to participate in Thompson Park cleanup. Then Shoua
asked me to go to the park, to explore and take notes of what I think could be important. Meanwhile
the number of reported cases increased to 20. In the park I met Mai, the Environmental Health
Specialist, whose areas of expertise was toxicology, biology, chemistry, water

What Is The System Of A Computerized System
According to the E R diagram shown as above, the new computerised system would establish four
different tables in the database. In addition, those four different tables would be used to store the
information or data which is about riders, staff, horses and the attendance of different riders. The first
entity in this diagram is the rider. To support the daily operation of the whole organisation and get
ready for the annual statistic report for the NZRDA, the HGRDA s database would store the riders
personal information. The personal information about riders would involve riders first name, riders
last name, date of birth, ethnicity, disability detail, additional information and gender. Also, the table
of riders in the HGRDA s database ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Besides, the third entity in the E R diagram shown above is the horse. Because the main business of
the HGRDA is providing different horse riding lesson with clients, the HGRDA has a demand in using
the computerised system to manage the horse. As a result of this, the database would have a horse
table to store all the information about the horses owned by the HGRDA. In the horse table, a large
variety of information would be stored, which includes horses names, ages, heights and status. In
addition, to identify different data or information stored in the horse table, each horse would have its
own unique id. Additionally, the fourth entity is the staff. To manage the employee in the HGRDA in a
more efficient way, the information about the staff would be recorded in the database. The HGRDA s
employees are not only made up of full time staff, but also some volunteers. Because of this, there are
two different staff types and the database would have two independent tables to store data. For the
paid people, the table of paid people would be used. In this table, the information about the staff s first
name, last name, phone number, email address, and work position would be stored. Then, for the
volunteer, another table called the volunteer table would be used. This table would record the similar
information as the paid people table. Then, to identify different rows of data in the table easily, each
staff would have a unique id. However, there

Classifying Countries Of The Modern World
Classifying Countries of the Modern World The ocean is a vast pool with many different kinds of fish,
no fish is exactly the same. You can say the same about the countries of the world, but the best way to
put all these countries into groups is by judging whether they are developed or developing. Countries
develop at their own pace and geographers use the stage of their development to categorize them. For
example, take Japan and Ghana. Both countries are very different in almost every aspect of life, Japan
is a developed country, and Ghana is a developing country. Ghana differs from Japan in population
and its growth, as Ghana has a younger population and more difficulties in maintaining the health of
their population. Ghana also differs from Japan in its land use and agriculture by having more
subsistence farming, while Japan concentrates more on commercial farming. Developed countries,
such as Japan, have older and more stable populations than developing countries. One of the statistics
that helps define the growth of a population is the total fertility rate(TFR) which is the number of
children born per woman. Japan has a very low TFR of 1.4 births per woman which shows that Japan
s population is decreasing and will continue to decline because their TFR is well below replacement
level. The replacement level fertility rate is 2.1 births per woman and would keep a population
completely stable because it accounts for a man, a woman and a small percentage of people who don t

Ritual and Vows of Christian Marrage and Their Influence on the Differing Ways that Couples
Approach Marraige and Marital Breakdown
Most people see marriage as a sacrament that should be intended for life. It is often thought of as a
deep way of sharing between a couple. Most people get married because it s a lifelong commitment, it
s a way of bringing up children in a secure and loving home, a way to control and direct the sex
instinct and a way of gaining a friend and companion for life.
The main reasons for marriage and the attitudes towards marriage have changed in the last four
hundred years. In the seventeenth century, the main reason for marriage was so that the couple could
have children. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The exchange of rings follows the exchange of vows. The vows used in the Christian marriage reflect
the idea of a long lasting and un selfish relationship. A vow that is used in most Christian marriage
ceremonies is:
I take you to be my husband / wife,
To have and to hold
From this day forward,
For better, for worse,
For richer, for poorer,
In sickness and in health,
To love and to cherish
Till death us do part,
According to God s Holy law.
And to this I pledge myself.
This vow shows how you should look after your partner whatever the circumstances, i.e. if he/she is
ill. Both partners make this promise so it is a shared responsibility. After this promise has been said,
the ring is placed on the third finger of the woman s hand and the man and the women both say
separately:
With this ring I thee wed;
With my body I thee honour and all my worldly goods with
Thee I share
In the name of the Father, the son and the Holy Spirit.
This vow gives the idea of a deep form of sharing between the couple and how all their possessions
are now shared. The prayer of the faithful follows which may also include personal prayer by the
couple. The mass concludes with the Lord s prayer and a Blessing. There may also be a candlelight
blessing. In the Catholic tradition the candle flame is a symbol of Christ, the light of

Thanksgiving Conflict Essay
With six people living in a small house conflicts do arise. Things like who is using all the hot water,
eating the last of the leftovers, and fighting for a spot to sit in front of the television. The one conflict
that seems to stand out the most was an argument over sugared cereal. Earlier that day Grandma was
up from Oregon and she left the house a box of Frosted Flakes. The box of cereal that my grandma
gave us wasn t even full, but I called at least one bowl. My older sister Danielle was bent on getting
some cereal, and sure enough, she ate the rest of the box. She was on her third bowl and my siblings
came up and called her out for it and it morphed into an aggressive and tense argument. While they
were arguing I looked into the bowl and there were a bunch of tiny black ants floating in her cereal
bowl. They were helplessly drowning in a bowl of sugar and milk. Danielle freaked out, and that was

Controversy Surrounding the Use of Contraception
Introduction
From the time when it became available the near the beginning of the 1960s, oral contraceptives,
commonly called the pill, have opened possibilities that had were shut to females for all of times gone
by. Possibly more than any other sole factor, the pill has made it likely for women to be in charge of of
their own lives and to attain their prospects. Nowadays, 100 million women all over the world use the
pill. Nonetheless, there are emergencies ensuing from rape or failure to use contraceptive plans. There
are in addition emergencies ensuing from accidental consensual sex. In spite of everything, the human
sexual desire was fashioned by evolution to guarantee procreation, and it works extremely fine. Given
the correct psychological stimulants, pretty much everyone, counting presidents of the United States
and well known religious leaders, will jeopardize it all for an illicit sexual rendezvous (Drazen, et al.
2004). To be adamant that society rely exclusively on self restraint more willingly than contraception
is to refute a nature beside which the gods themselves are unable to compete. The whole history of
humanity can be interpreted as evidence to the influence of that nature.
Plan B was produced to cover emergencies, no matter what their reason. It turned out to be obtainable
by prescription in 1999. Millions of women have ever since found Plan B to be harmless and efficient
if ingested after intercourse but sooner than a spermatozoon enters the membrane

a. I will be working with student on their targeted number for this student. We made a number line
starting at zero and then counting up to their practice number. I then started by stating that we were
going to create a rainbow. I asked the student if they could find two number in the number line that
could equal their practice number. Usually, they states their practice number and zero and if you add
them together you get the practice number. Then I encouraged the student to look for another pair of
number that would equal the practice number. I will prompt thee student to keep looking for pair of
number until they have found all the pair then I ask them to draw a line connecting the two numbers in
the pair. After the student had created the rainbow I will have them color the rainbow. After they have
colored it I had the student write number sentences using the number pairs to equal the practice
number. After they have written the student has finished creating the number sentences I reviewed the
sentences with the student.

What Ford is saying is that the students just don t really care to complete the course and just quit.
These students are very unmotivated to complete the course. Ford goes on to say when talking about
an algebra class offered online, 90 percent of those coming directly from high school failed the course
(134). Early Ford mentioned that this algebra class was offered for 150 dollars. Not only are the
classes inexpensive but they allow students to take the class whenever, whenever, if ever.
One of the biggest concerns about online education today is something that Thomas Friedman calls
the ambition gap (354). The new American generations are becoming less motivated and less
ambitious than the rest of the world. Not only is sending american jobs to other countries cheaper but

Causes Of Rising Student Debt
For many in the middle class student debt has a strong and relentless grasp on their economic future.
In their article Why Free Higher Ed Can t Wait Jeje Biola and Belinda Rodriguez state that, Student
debt has reached a record total of over $1.3 trillion (6). This has left many people wondering where
this is coming from and wanting change. This number is just too high in the minds of the average
American. In the last few years free college tuition has been a hot topic in American politics, as
recently as the 2016 presidential race. Candidates such as Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton proved
to be a huge push for free tuition. The raising college tuition rates effect all Americans in some form

These have been hot topics for sometime now but little seems to have happened so far in regards to
legislation and actual action. In the eyes of many free college is nothing more than a dream at the
moment and who could blame them, for alas the government is taking their time, in no hurry to swiftly
respond to the pleas of citizens. However there was a plan in the works that Catherine Morris
describes in her article Pay It Forward . She states, Obama proposed funding Americas College
Promise to the tune of $60 billion and paying for it with a series of taxes including one controversial
and short lived proposal to tax 529 college savings plans (13). This shows that the government has
some willingness to approach the issue, but most likely they have found that it is going to be more
difficult than imagined to apply reform in this area. Another plan that is currently in use and has a
controversial funding method is the Tennessee Promise which supports college students who are going
to attend community colleges for shorter lengths such as two years. The gray areas start to come in
with the funding. Scholarships for four year students are cut to help students who will be in college for
less time and who will subsequently acquire more debt. Despite these criticisms they are a step in the
right direction even if they lay on some unsteady framework.

Compare And Contrast Ronald Reagan And The Conservatives
Ronald Reagan is a different kind of conservative compared to the conservatives of the roaring
twenties because he brought up the fact that the government had trouble balancing their budget and
they were spending money they did not have to spend. And he also brought up that the reliance of
policy elites to prescribe social solutions. He thought that the percentage of GDP that the government
was taking from the economy was worrisome. Reagan did his best to fix government spending. During
his presidency, the recession ended. Reagan accepted the active state. He believed that the government
was lazy, and something needed to be done about it. Reagan was for the active state; previous
conservatives were against it. Previous conservatives were

Homeless Youth Research Paper
The effect of homelessness among teens
Transitioning to adulthood is a difficult point in time for adolescences under the greatest of conditions.
It is an occasion when adolescents are developing their freedom and individuality. These
psychological changes influence cognitive processing and behavior. Homeless youth not only have to
make new decisions concerning how and where to be in this world but they must also make these
decisions when their decision making and problem solving skills are still budding (National Alliance
to End Homelessness, 2005). Homeless teens need the financial, social, and emotional capital to
sufficiently supply for their personal requirements, and this can direct to hazardous consequences.

(Administration for Children Families, 1995). The exchange of sex for shelter, food, drugs, or money
is one of the most damaging consequences of homelessness. Adopting abnormal strategies can place
adolescents at a greater risk for life threatening victimization (Eugene, 1997). It is complicated to get a
practical image of the everyday life of an unaccompanied and homeless youth. The data of homeless
youth is rising, but this subgroup of the homeless population remains one of the least understood, most
vulnerable, and most convoluted to attain. Once on the street, adolescents are victimized as they are
exposed to dangers that equal or exceed the home situations they sought to escape. Ways in which
youth are most likely to become homeless include running away, being thrown away, or transitioning
out of systems care without stable placement. While many episodes of homelessness may be short in
duration or located in relatively protective settings such as shelters other episodes are potentially more
serious (e.g., spending the night outside or in an abandoned building). Living life on the street leaves
adolescents very vulnerable to victimization, exploitation, substance abuse, and a multitude of other
physical, mental, and emotional problems, many of which

Preventing Complications From Gestational Diabetes
Promotion of a Healthy Lifestyle to Prevent Complications from Gestational Diabetes
Gestational diabetes, glucose intolerance with onset or first recognition occurring during pregnancy, is
a problem more pregnant women are facing. The exact prevalence rate of gestational diabetes mellitus
is unknown but in the United States it is estimated to affect anywhere from one to 14 percent of
pregnancies (Desisto, Shin, Sharma, 2014). There are several risk factors which increase a woman s
risk for gestational diabetes. Some of these risks include: family history of diabetes mellitus, previous
history of gestational diabetes, advanced maternal age, previous infant weighing 9 pounds or more at
birth, glycosuria, polycystic ovary syndrome, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Complications to the fetus include: macrosomia, hypoglycemia, neural tube defects, preterm delivery,
shoulder dystocia, hyperbilirubinemia, and being large for gestational age (Elkins Smith Taylor, 2013)
(Kim, 2010). So, the purpose of this paper is to discuss the care management strategies to promote a
healthy lifestyle in obese pregnant women diagnosed with gestational diabetes mellitus, to control
their gestational diabetes mellitus without the intervention of insulin treatment and to prevent
complications from gestational diabetes mellitus.
Care Management Process
Expected Outcomes Gestational diabetes is a significant diagnosis in pregnancy but it is expected that
obese women diagnosed with gestational diabetes will be able to control their diabetes without the
intervention of insulin treatment. They should be able to do this through lifestyle changes. By
controlling their gestational diabetes mellitus, the women will be able to reduce the risk or even
prevent maternal complications and fetal complications associated with gestational diabetes mellitus.
Assessments
The first step in managing gestational diabetes to reduce risks of maternal and fetal complications, one
must be diagnosed with it. To be diagnosed women go through a screening process. The American
College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Diabetes Association recommend that
all women should have their initial screening

Will The Yeast Fermentation Of Yeast Fermentation Of Glucose
Will the rate of yeast fermentation of glucose increase as pH levels increase? To test this, 4 trials of
two pH level solutions were prepared in order to obtain an average amount of CO2 produced. Twelve
mL of yeast, 12 mL of glucose, and 4 mL of either a pH 2 solution or pH 10 solution were prepared in
eight beakers, 4 per pH, and then poured into a flask, where the rate of fermentation was then
measured in millimeters every 2 minutes for a total of 20 minutes. It was hypothesized that the rate of
yeast fermentation of glucose would increase as pH increased. Our data results from the 8 flasks
showed no statistical significance between yeast fermentation of glucose in a pH of 2 or pH of 10
solution. Using the final CO2 production level measured after 20 minutes, a t Test assuming equal
variances was performed which supported our observations of no significant difference in the rate of
yeast fermentation, which led us to accept our null hypothesis stating that a change in pH would have
no effect on the rate of yeast fermentation of glucose.

Why Is Shakespeare Still Relevant Today
William Shakespeare is one of the most famous authors in history. After celebrating the 400th
anniversary of his death just last year, many people came to realize just how influential and important
his works are to people. Even after all these years, Shakespeare s work is still so present and relevant
today. What if Shakespeare didn t write any of the plays he has his name on, however? What if
William Shakespeare was never who we thought? That is what some people believe. Shakespeare did
not write any of the plays, and they were all written by the 17th Earl of Oxford, Edward De Vere.
Although some people think that Edward de Vere wrote the plays, William Shakespeare did write all
the plays under his name.
This crazy conspiracy of the plays of William Shakespeare being written by the 17th Earl of Oxford
was started by one man, Thomas Looney. Published in 1920, Looney s book Shakespeare Identified

Leadership Styles From The Point Of View
Comparative Analysis
The articles under analysis explore leadership styles from the point of view of their relation to gender
(Merchant, 2012) and personality (Yahaya et al., 2011). Merchant (2012) provides a valuable research,
which is focused on gender as the major determinant of leadership styles in individuals. Providing an
analysis of literature, Merchant (2012) indicates that many studies analyzing the intersection of gender
and influence tactics have resulted in mixed finding (p. 24). It proves the argument that gender
stereotypes play a major role in attributing particular roles for females and males on the basis of their
biological sex and what is expected of them. Whereas Merchant (2012) does not present a particular

I happened to work under both female and male leadership, and I should admit that the difference
between them is not evident everything depends on personality, and dissimilarities in influence tactics
are attributed to situational circumstances such as individual setting (Merchant, 2012, p. 26).
Personal Leadership Style
My leadership style is both Participative and Democratic, and it is influenced by the three variables
gender, personality, and age. Democratic Leader makes the final decision, only after receiving the
input and recommendations of all team members, (Goetsch, 2002). I focus on getting to the bottom of
the problem with working through it.
Effect of Gender
Though gender is a contradictory variable in affecting leadership styles, I should note that gender does
play an important role in the way I influence other people. In this aspect, I should agree with Merchant
(2012), who indicate, women value cooperation [...] and have a less clear focus on where the
boundaries of their friendships end and their individual identities begin (p. 18). As a female, I feel I
have to work harder than a male doing the same job. Even though, I feel that I have to work harder
than a man, I also think that it s not always about your gender, but how a person is a leader. Kanter,
argues that males and females who occupy the same organizational role theoretically differ very

Sociology Impression Management
To quote Essentials of Sociology, impression management is preparing for the presentation of one s
social life. Simply meaning controlling other people s perceptions. Impression management is a
process where people aim to control the perception of other people. It could be their perception of you,
something you own, etc. In the video, you notice how politicians speak and represent themselves has a
significant influence on the way we view them. Appearances and the way they speak are some of the
many reasons we choose this politician versus that politician. This is a form of impression
management. There have been numerous times where I have used impression management and it
came in handy. Mainly because you never get a second chance to make

Essay On Surgical Site Wound Closure
A critical literature review exploring the effectiveness of using skin staples as opposed to sutures or
skin adhesive as closing materials after orthopaedic surgery.
Aim: This paper considers the effectiveness of different methods of closure materials after surgery
looking primarily at complications such as infection rates and dehiscence of wounds. Secondary
outcomes measured include cosmetic scar evaluation, patient satisfaction, and cost, ease of use and
speed of application.
Background. Surgical site wound closure can play a key part in the recovery of patients post
operatively. The use of closure material is usually according to the preference of the surgeon and is a
frequently debated issue.
Method. A review of English language literature ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly in the study by Gupta et al (2015), a higher incidence of wound infections were found when
using staples compared to patients receiving a nylon suture. The nylon suture is different from the
vicryl suture and as a non absorbable material and have different properties to that of the vicryl suture.
This however was a much bigger sample size of 513 patients, randomised into two groups, 262
patients receiving a nylon suture and 241 patient s staples as closure material for their wounds after
orthopaedic surgery. It was concluded that as many as 36 patients in the staple group contracted
infections compared to the 14 patients in the nylon suture group. Also recorded in this study was the
incidence of wound dehiscence and a higher number were found in the patients that received staples at
29 patients compared to 25 in the nylon suture category. Murphy et al (2004) mentions that removing
the nylon sutures were more painful to patients and took longer than having skin staples removed.
Nylon sutures are non braided and have a reduced risk of infection as it lacks the grooves and rough
surface for pathogens to attach

The Civil War And The 19th Century Essay
The 19th century was one of the most troubling times in human history. Things like the civil war, child
labor and even slavery helped shape the literary culture from 1850 1900. The civil war was a war
fought between the Northern and Southern States in the United States of America. Among the 34
states in January 1861, seven Southern slave states individually declared their secession from the
United States of America and formed the Confederate States of America. The first state to secede was
south carolina after the election of president lincoln in 1860. After South Carolina seceded, the cotton
states of Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas followed, seceding in January
and February 1861. Union and Confederate leadership and fighting soldiers on both sides believed that
slavery caused the Civil War. Union men mainly believed the war was to emancipate the slaves.
Confederates fought to protect southern society, and slavery as a part of it. Sectionalism refers to the
different economies, social structure, culture and customs and values of the North and South. While
the south based their economy off of slave labor and plantation agriculture, the North was urbanizing,
industrializing and had feigned slavery out of existence. Southern slaveholding states, because of their
low cost labor, had little need for industrialization. While the North highly invested in its
industrialization, could not compete with the industries of Europe in offering high prices

The Role Of A Nurse And Social Services
This essay aims to consider the role of a nurse in relation to the care of an elderly patient, this can be
planned using the care planning cycle both whilst in hospital and before discharge. It will also look at
the role social services play when deciding on the patients future care needs. The role of the nurse and
social services can be explained by looking into the bio medical and socio medical models of health.
Good communication is vital when taking care of an elderly patient and this will be discussed within
the communication cycle. It is important to consider the disease processes in old age and how the
support and treatment relates to the care value base and rights of the client along with the NMC code
of conduct and legislation in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It made the task of personal care very difficult. Mr Williams still appears disinterested and has not
been eating much at all. However he appears to have struck up a bond with a day time nurse who he is
happy to engage with and seems to trust. Mr Williams has been assigned a Social Worker whose role
is to assess and decide whether he is in a safe position to return home or if it would be beneficial to
him to be placed within a care home.
This essay will discuss all aspects of Mr Williams stay within hospital and his options with regards to
future care beyond discharge.
On admission to hospital a nurse would implement a care plan to help Mr Williams through his time in
hospital. A care plan aims to meet the individual needs of a patient and one highly used approach can
be defined as a person centered. This was first developed by Dr Carl Rogers between the 1940s and
1960s and was considered radical and at the time revolutionary. His theory pushed towards the
individual to seek out and fulfil their own personal potential whilst the therapist would create an
environment where a person would psychologically and physically feel free from any threat, this
would ultimately be achieved by a positive, genuine and empathetic setting created by the therapist.
These ideas have since been transferred to many roles where people are in relationships such as
childcare, teaching and patient care as is the case with Mr

This demographic segment was not only aging, but also increasing in spending power, and thus
willing to spend its disposable income on wine, at least up until the global financial crisis began in
2008.
Wine consumption in the United States increased every year from 2000 2008, according to the U.S.
Department of Commerce and Adams Wine Handbook, the latter an industry trade publication, as
shown in the analysis presented in Exhibit 1. Domestically produced wine, predominantly from
California, made some inroads into the
United States market. From 2000 2008, the consumption of domestically produced table wine grew 22
percent, while over the same period inroads made by wine imports led to expansion in that category
approximately 74 percent. By comparison, however, imported table wine, which accounted for 10.3
percent of total United States wine consumption in 1991, accounted for 23.5 percent by 2008. Also,
share of imports by volume, which was 14.5 percent in 1991, grew to 25.6 percent in 2008, according
to the U.S. Department of Commerce and Adams Wine Handbook.
Exhibit 2 presents an analysis of wine imports from 2003 2008 by country of origin, showing that
Italy and Australia led in total exports to the United States. Exhibit 3 shows the analysis of sales and

Emperors Club And The Emperor s Club
The man s character is his fate that was Mr. Hundert said played by Kevin Kline in Emperor s Club.
The Emperor s Club is a heart touching story. It tells the story of a teacher who teach in a boy s school
for elite and changed the result of an academic competition. He allows the student to get away with
cheating and he kept it until the end of the story. The film presents him as a great educator. The chief
curiosity of the film is how it seems to present one view of a teacher, but cannot prevent itself from
revealing another.
The film will not be naturally interpreted in this way, and will be hailed in the latest of a series of
sentimental portraits of great teacher, which include The prime of Miss Jean Brodie and Mr. Holland s
Opus . Both films are enjoyable, but none of them have the courage to risk into the tricky ethical
situations of The Emperors s Club. The movie is too organize or methodical, but it doesn t avoid the
hard question.

it again? Yes, he loses it again and at the second time around he cheated again, and his son hears
everything. The interesting about the movie is that Mr. Hundert is fully aware of his shortcoming or
demerit in the matter of young Sedgewick. He does not provide the kind of ending that Martin Blythe

The Dance Rehearsal And Swing Class
When I observed the dance rehearsal and technique classes, I saw interesting and informative
keynotes. The technique class that I went to was a Beginning Lindy and Swing class. The rehearsal
class that I watched was a Choreography Three class. Even if the two types of dance classes were very
different, they still had little bits and pieces that were similar and incorporated important concepts that
coincided with both of the two classes. Before this class, I had never seen a Beginning Lindy and
Swing technique class before, nor a Choreography Three class. In general, I had never seen an
instructor so passionate about expressing and teaching their craft to their students.
I chose to observe the Beginning Lindy and Swing class first and foremost, because it was the only
class that I could watch that did not overlap with my personal and academic schedule. The second
reason why I chose this class was because, I had the notion that this genre of dance class would be
interesting and historical to watch. This dance is also bold and pungent to look at. This style of class is
interesting because the dance choreography has multiple kicks and jumps which are repeated
consecutively throughout the performance. The reason I choose to watch the choreography three class
is because I wanted to see the students design their own choreography, and observe how it presented
cohesively to the audience.
In the technique class I expected to see male and female students in Lindy shoes and wearing

Double Strand Breaks In Dna Essay
Abstract:
Double strand breaks in DNA (DSB) constitute one of the greatest threats to cell viability. In
eukaryotes DSBs are mainly repaired thanks to the process called Non homologous end joining
(NHEJ), and consists of the direct ligation of the generated ends after the break without the need for a
template . The objective of this paper is to discuss the different mechanisms available to correct DSBs
in DNA. The components that participate in these repair mechanisms play a fundamental role in
maintaining genomic stability (Specially in NHEJ). Furthermore, these mechanisms participate in
programmed DNA breaks that mediates biological processes such as V(D)J recombination. During
NHEJ the Ku protein binds to the generated ends and lays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But the intracellular environment offers other dangers to DNA integrity. The largest of these is
oxidation, which in the long run produces more damage than any of the above processes. The
reactions that take place in the mitochondria generate, as oxygen is reduced to water, a series of highly
reactive intermediates. These are reactive oxygen species (ROS): superoxide ion, hydrogen peroxide
and hydroxyl radical (De Bont R, 2004). These species can leave the mitochondria and oxidize the
DNA bases. As a consequence, single strand DNA (ssDNA) ruptures, double strand breaks (DSB) are
generated, and loss of bases or covalent DNA protein bonds can occur.
Despite its potential dangers to the genome, evolution has created differentiation and development
processes using DSB as intermediates of its recombination reactions. Thus DSBs are generated to
enable recombination between homologous chromosomes during meiosis or as intermediates during
somatic (or V (D) J recombination) and recombination of class switch recombination (CSR) in
lymphocytes (Tonegawa, et al. 1987). At the beginning of meiosis, each chromosome recognizes its
homologue and is placed side by side along the whole length. This arrangement allows the exchange
of DNA between homologous sequences and thus increases the genetic diversity of the gametes.
During the V (D) J and CSR processes ruptures are introduced in a controlled

  • 2. Essay Against Capital Punishment At 8:00 p.m. it was nearing the end of John Evans last day on death row. He had spent most of the day with his minister and family, praying and talking of what was to come. At 8:20 he was walked from his cell down to the long hall to the execution room and strapped in the electric chair. At 8:30 p.m. the first jolt of 1900 volts passed through Mr. Evans body. It lasted 30 seconds. Sparks and flames erupted from the electrode tied to Mr. Evans leg. His body slammed against the straps holding him in the chair and his fist clenched permanently. The electrode then burst from the strap holding it in place. A large puff of gray smoke and sparks pored out from under the hood that covered his face. An overpowering stench of burnt flesh and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The truth of the matter is, the United States should cease the use of capital punishment in both federal and state prisons. Capital punishment is immoral and unethical; it degrades society, and lowers the value of a human life. It does not deter murder, it is not economically efficient, and its effects are irreversible. There is not one good reason to keep executing wrongdoers in the United States or anywhere else. Capital punishment goes against the morals and standards that our country is based upon. A punishment that inflicts harm on a person can hardly be good or moral if it is purposeless. A punishment may be given to a wrongdoer for one or a combination of the following reasons: (1) to protect the community from the criminal returning to previous activity, (2) to rehabilitate the offender; and (3) to restore the moral order breached by the violation. Capital punishment is not required to accomplish any of these purposes. Other alternatives work better or at least as well (Robinson, 1999, October 7). Killing is not the answer (Bender amp; Leone, 1987 p. 63). Recently some states have been implementing life without parole as an alternative to death. This has proven just a successful as the death penalty for punishment. It prevents criminals from returning to society, and is less expensive than capital punishment (Vila amp; Morris, 1997, p.255). Another study shows that over 80% of those serving life sentences will never commit another crime, and well ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Comparing Observed Meteorological Data From Two Different... Comparing observed meteorological data from two different types of automatic weather stations Petro Burger 11048990 HONOURS REASEARCH PROJECT WKD 763 2016 DEPARTMENT OF GEOGRAPHY, GEOINFORMATICS AND METEOROLOGY UNIVERSITY OF PRETORIA ABSTRACT Observed meteorological data collected by two different types of automatic weather stations (AWS) were statistically analysed in order to verify if there were a difference in the measurements due to the different sensor types. The hypothesis is that the different types of AWS s will not be statistically different. Data from January 2014 to February 2016 for six places in South Africa were analysed. Significant differences were observed for rainfall totals, temperatures and wind speeds by using the Wilcoxon Mann Whitney test. 1. Introduction The objective of this study was to compare observed rainfall amounts, maximum air temperature, minimum air temperature and maximum wind speeds at daily periods from two different types of automatic weather stations. An automatic weather station (AWS) is defined by the WMO (1992a) as a meteorological station where observations are made and from which the data is transmitted automatically. The AWS was designed to accurately measure and record standard meteorological variables. The design of AWS s may vary from measurement rates, methods on how the data is retrieved or the intervals of when the data is reported (Tanner, 1990). All functional AWS s must consist of certain specific features. These ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. An Overview and Commentary on Course Objectives Essay Note to the reader: This essay is somewhat of an experiment. I am well aware of the standard guidelines within which a student must present and argue ideas, and the implications of nonconformity. However, if I have learned anything in this course, it is that genres and forms are continually under scrutiny, being molded and changed, discarded and exchanged, for sake of efficacy, veracity, adherence to ideology, or in reaction to otherwise unforeseen forces. Consider this as just such a reaction; more accurately, it is my only recourse. In setting out to write this essay, I had a clear objective. My task was to critically engage materials that were covered this term, and where possible reflect, compare, contrast, and analyze those theories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a contemporary sense, there is an involvement between the reader and the text. This denies the Formalist stance that the text is the sole source of meaning. Proponents of this theory fall onto a spectrum, where at one pole the interpretive strategy of the reader entirely determines the text (Stanley Fish), at the other pole is what falls into the realm of Formalism (text dominant), and in between is a bi active stance, where the reader is both active and passive during the reading process (Wolfgang Iser). Iser talks of an actual reader and an implied reader. The actual reader is one who brings to the text all their knowledge and experience, what Barthes would term their déjà lu. The implied reader is one which text itself attempts to shape or condition. For Iser, the reading process is one which is gradually unfolding. The reader assimilates various facets of the text, and through this process dictates (in part) the essence of the text. However, unlike some of Fish s earlier works where the reader is effectively in creative control, Iser states the text imposes some constraints upon the reader. The reader cannot make the text mean what they like, as the text provides a skeleton of meanings, norms, and values that shape and control the reader s response. Thus, the convergence of text and reader brings the literary work into existence (Iser 189). He goes on further to state that the text provokes certain expectations which in ... • 5. My Position As A First Year Composition Student I am in a unique position as a First year Composition student in his mid thirties: I have a vast amount I would like to say about myself and the world, yet I lack the technical and rhetorical prowess to express myself efficiently. So, while I may have a lot to say, I don t have the skills necessary to say much of anything. At least, this was my position in August of this year, at the start of the semester and at my introduction to college level writing. For as long as I can remember, I have always been a big proponent of the written word. I have been a lover of books and writing for my entire life, and learned the Dos and Don ts of writing through my exposure to books. Which is to say, I might be a damn good reader, but good readers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But I was still by no means an expert in rhetoric. Ten years later, despite a decade of professional, full time employment as a technical writer, I am still severely lacking in any real rhetorical or literary expertise. At the start of this semester, I could not differentiate between simple and complex sentences, nor explain a transitive vs. intransitive verb, nor did I understand any but the most simplistic rhetorical devices. In other words, I lacked the rhetoric of rhetoric. Consider this: you bring your vehicle to an auto mechanic to resolve an issue, and you are attempting to explain in mutually understood terms where the problem lies. The mechanic may have the most advanced knowledge possible in his or her field. He or she will be able to diagnose your issue using expensive, specialized equipment, and be able to draw upon years of experience to do so. Yet, as the owner of the vehicle, and someone with no technical knowledge in this field, it is still up to you to attempt to explain to the mechanic where to start looking for the problem. It makes a noise when I turn left, you might say. What kind of noise? the mechanic asks, Like a grinding noise? A bumping or knocking sound? You re at a loss, but stammer out, It kind of goes, Whirl whirl whirl whiiiiirl, and makes a grinding sound, then goes away once I straighten out the steering wheel. Without skipping a beat, the mechanic replies: It sounds like a bad wheel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Reflective Reflection In English Throughout this course, I have grown as a writer and learned many things I was previously unaware of. What I pictured English 101 to entail is nothing compared to what I experienced. Going into this class, I was thinking in the most negative tone: There is no way I am going to be able to write four full pages, There is not enough time to write papers, The work load is overwhelming, There is only four summarize grades. However, these thoughts quickly became reversed as the year progressed as I was pushed to limits I did not even know I had. As I began writing, I became more aware of my strengths and weakness, enjoyments and frustrations, and future plans and goals. After exploring all papers, there are strengths and weaknesses prevalent throughout. It is important to know these qualities and capacities in order to leverage certain strengths and improve specific weaknesses. Using this knowledge, I came up with one overall weaknesses throughout my writing that show up in multiple instances. One of them would be subject verb agreement. Subjects and verbs must agree with one another in number (singular or plural). Thus, if a subject is singular, its verb must also be singular; if a subject is plural, its verb must also be plural. In the present tense, nouns and verbs form plurals in opposite ways: nouns add an s to the singular form; verbs remove the s from the singular form. For example, talking about A Good Man is Hard to Find in paper one, I wrote Children tend to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Leadership Colin Powell Essay example Ret. General Colin Powell As a Non Commissioned Officer in the Pennsylvania Army Nation Guard, I realize the importance and value of good leadership. A leader has to be able to understand and support their men, have initiative, be quick on their feet, and accept responsibility for their actions. The personal traits that I look for in a leader are courage, commitment, candor, competence, and integrity. Out of these the most important one to me, is integrity. A man s word is his bond and the most important leadership trait there is. Looking back, the man I see as a great leader that possesses these traits is Ret. General Colin Powell. This shows how respected he was among the Washington staff. This also shows the competence, candor, and integrity Powell posses throughout his term in Washington D.C. Colin Powell continues to advance through the ranks and through the staff jobs he was appointed to. He then served as senior military aide to Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger, helping to coordinate the invasion of Granada and the bombing of Libya (Biography.com, 2010). To help coordinate these attacks would have to take great courage, because there s always a chance of casualties. He commits to these plans and excels with both operations. Then, in 1991 Colin Powell was appointed to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under President George H.W. Bush. In this position he excelled to a national figure during Desert Shield and Desert Storm, because of the speed of the operations forcing Saddam Hussein s forces out of Kuwait (Biography.com, 2010). Once again, it shows the courage, competence, and commitment needed to fulfill the plan of the operations. He also was reappointed to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs under President Clinton. He remained in this position until he disagreed with President Clinton s policy about homosexuals in the military. Powell later compromised with President Clinton with the Don t ask, don t tell policy (Biography.com, 2010). After this incident Powell ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Outbreak at Watersedge game was a fun experience that allowed me to assimilate the epidemiological process, which I used in order to find the infectious agent that caused the outbreak and to identify the disease, caused by that agent. The process I went through in order to start my investigation started at the Watersedge Department of Health, where I visited as a new intern. At first I met Leslie Hernandez, the Health Planner, who directed me to Shoua Shinde, the epidemiologist and department detective , whose areas of expertise were biology, microbiology, biostatistics, and knowledge of communicable diseases ( Outbreak at Watersedge, 2004). She informed me that there were many people in the hospital with severe diarrhea and other symptoms and asked for my help in order to understand what is going on. She introduced me to Terry Tower, the public health nurse, who offered me to analyze and map the results of the interview for the first five patients. After mapping the results of five interviews I pinpointed a place to start, which was the Thompson Park, because all five people aside from the other activities and places went there on the same day to participate in Thompson Park cleanup. Then Shoua asked me to go to the park, to explore and take notes of what I think could be important. Meanwhile the number of reported cases increased to 20. In the horse table, a large variety of information would be stored, which includes horses names, ages, heights and status. In addition, to identify different data or information stored in the horse table, each horse would have its own unique id. Additionally, the fourth entity is the staff. To manage the employee in the HGRDA in a more efficient way, the information about the staff would be recorded in the database. The HGRDA s employees are not only made up of full time staff, but also some volunteers. Because of this, there are two different staff types and the database would have two independent tables to store data. For the paid people, the table of paid people would be used. In this table, the information about the staff s first name, last name, phone number, email address, and work position would be stored. • 10. Classifying Countries Of The Modern World Classifying Countries of the Modern World The ocean is a vast pool with many different kinds of fish, no fish is exactly the same. You can say the same about the countries of the world, but the best way to put all these countries into groups is by judging whether they are developed or developing. Countries develop at their own pace and geographers use the stage of their development to categorize them. For example, take Japan and Ghana. Both countries are very different in almost every aspect of life, Japan is a developed country, and Ghana is a developing country. Ghana differs from Japan in population and its growth, as Ghana has a younger population and more difficulties in maintaining the health of their population. Ghana also differs from Japan in its land use and agriculture by having more subsistence farming, while Japan concentrates more on commercial farming. Developed countries, such as Japan, have older and more stable populations than developing countries. One of the statistics that helps define the growth of a population is the total fertility rate(TFR) which is the number of children born per woman. Japan has a very low TFR of 1.4 births per woman which shows that Japan s population is decreasing and will continue to decline because their TFR is well below replacement level. The replacement level fertility rate is 2.1 births per woman and would keep a population completely stable because it accounts for a man, a woman and a small percentage of people who don t ... Things like who is using all the hot water, eating the last of the leftovers, and fighting for a spot to sit in front of the television. The one conflict that seems to stand out the most was an argument over sugared cereal. Earlier that day Grandma was up from Oregon and she left the house a box of Frosted Flakes. The box of cereal that my grandma gave us wasn t even full, but I called at least one bowl. My older sister Danielle was bent on getting some cereal, and sure enough, she ate the rest of the box. She was on her third bowl and my siblings came up and called her out for it and it morphed into an aggressive and tense argument. In spite of everything, the human sexual desire was fashioned by evolution to guarantee procreation, and it works extremely fine. Given the correct psychological stimulants, pretty much everyone, counting presidents of the United States and well known religious leaders, will jeopardize it all for an illicit sexual rendezvous (Drazen, et al. 2004). To be adamant that society rely exclusively on self restraint more willingly than contraception is to refute a nature beside which the gods themselves are unable to compete. The whole history of humanity can be interpreted as evidence to the influence of that nature. Plan B was produced to cover emergencies, no matter what their reason. It turned out to be obtainable by prescription in 1999. To test this, 4 trials of two pH level solutions were prepared in order to obtain an average amount of CO2 produced. Twelve mL of yeast, 12 mL of glucose, and 4 mL of either a pH 2 solution or pH 10 solution were prepared in eight beakers, 4 per pH, and then poured into a flask, where the rate of fermentation was then measured in millimeters every 2 minutes for a total of 20 minutes. It is defined as menstrual loss of more than 80 mL. This translates to menses that continues for more than seven days or the use of more than 10 pads or tampons per day. It is most commonly associated with perimenopause. (1) Although menorrhagia is not fatal, it can cause chronic anemia, pelvic pain and cramping. Similar to the first generation TRUCLEAR, the second generation MyoSure system depends on a suction based, mechanical energy, rotating tubular cutter system rather than the high frequency electrical energy historically used by resectoscopy systems to eliminate intrauterine tissue.(20) Once placed inside the uterine cavity, the device shaves off and immediately suctions out any excised tissue that might impair visibility. The ability to remove and instantly suction out tissue fragments means the hysteroscopy and morcellator are inserted only once, for initial entry. This is a huge advantage from both the physician s and the patient s point of view. For the physician, the immediate removal of tissue through the probe makes surgery much simpler to perform and requires less surgical time. The advantage for the patient is a much safer treatment. Shorter operating time means less exposure to general anesthesia and puts the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Poor colonists had to settle outside of the English Colony and into the frontier where the Natives had control. • 44. The Civil War And The 19th Century Essay The 19th century was one of the most troubling times in human history. Things like the civil war, child labor and even slavery helped shape the literary culture from 1850 1900. The civil war was a war fought between the Northern and Southern States in the United States of America. Among the 34 states in January 1861, seven Southern slave states individually declared their secession from the United States of America and formed the Confederate States of America. The first state to secede was south carolina after the election of president lincoln in 1860. After South Carolina seceded, the cotton states of Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas followed, seceding in January and February 1861. Union and Confederate leadership and fighting soldiers on both sides believed that slavery caused the Civil War. Union men mainly believed the war was to emancipate the slaves. Confederates fought to protect southern society, and slavery as a part of it. Sectionalism refers to the different economies, social structure, culture and customs and values of the North and South. While the south based their economy off of slave labor and plantation agriculture, the North was urbanizing, industrializing and had feigned slavery out of existence. Southern slaveholding states, because of their low cost labor, had little need for industrialization. On admission to hospital a nurse would implement a care plan to help Mr Williams through his time in hospital. A care plan aims to meet the individual needs of a patient and one highly used approach can be defined as a person centered. This was first developed by Dr Carl Rogers between the 1940s and 1960s and was considered radical and at the time revolutionary. His theory pushed towards the individual to seek out and fulfil their own personal potential whilst the therapist would create an environment where a person would psychologically and physically feel free from any threat, this would ultimately be achieved by a positive, genuine and empathetic setting created by the therapist. It tells the story of a teacher who teach in a boy s school for elite and changed the result of an academic competition. He allows the student to get away with cheating and he kept it until the end of the story. The film presents him as a great educator. The film will not be naturally interpreted in this way, and will be hailed in the latest of a series of sentimental portraits of great teacher, which include The prime of Miss Jean Brodie and Mr. Holland s Opus . The technique class that I went to was a Beginning Lindy and Swing class. The rehearsal class that I watched was a Choreography Three class. Even if the two types of dance classes were very different, they still had little bits and pieces that were similar and incorporated important concepts that coincided with both of the two classes. Before this class, I had never seen a Beginning Lindy and Swing technique class before, nor a Choreography Three class. In general, I had never seen an instructor so passionate about expressing and teaching their craft to their students. I chose to observe the Beginning Lindy and Swing class first and foremost, because it was the only class that I could watch that did not overlap with my personal and academic schedule. The second reason why I chose this class was because, I had the notion that this genre of dance class would be interesting and historical to watch. This dance is also bold and pungent to look at. This style of class is interesting because the dance choreography has multiple kicks and jumps which are repeated consecutively throughout the performance. The reason I choose to watch the choreography three class is because I wanted to see the students design their own choreography, and observe how it presented cohesively to the audience. • 49. Double Strand Breaks In Dna Essay Abstract: Double strand breaks in DNA (DSB) constitute one of the greatest threats to cell viability. In eukaryotes DSBs are mainly repaired thanks to the process called Non homologous end joining (NHEJ), and consists of the direct ligation of the generated ends after the break without the need for a template . The objective of this paper is to discuss the different mechanisms available to correct DSBs in DNA. The components that participate in these repair mechanisms play a fundamental role in maintaining genomic stability (Specially in NHEJ). Furthermore, these mechanisms participate in programmed DNA breaks that mediates biological processes such as V(D)J recombination. During NHEJ the Ku protein binds to the generated ends and lays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But the intracellular environment offers other dangers to DNA integrity. The largest of these is oxidation, which in the long run produces more damage than any of the above processes. The reactions that take place in the mitochondria generate, as oxygen is reduced to water, a series of highly reactive intermediates. These are reactive oxygen species (ROS): superoxide ion, hydrogen peroxide and hydroxyl radical (De Bont R, 2004). These species can leave the mitochondria and oxidize the DNA bases. As a consequence, single strand DNA (ssDNA) ruptures, double strand breaks (DSB) are generated, and loss of bases or covalent DNA protein bonds can occur. Despite its potential dangers to the genome, evolution has created differentiation and development processes using DSB as intermediates of its recombination reactions. Thus DSBs are generated to enable recombination between homologous chromosomes during meiosis or as intermediates during somatic (or V (D) J recombination) and recombination of class switch recombination (CSR) in lymphocytes (Tonegawa, et al. 1987). At the beginning of meiosis, each chromosome recognizes its homologue and is placed side by side along the whole length. This arrangement allows the exchange of DNA between homologous sequences and thus increases the genetic diversity of the gametes. During the V (D) J and CSR processes ruptures are introduced in a controlled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
