An Analysis Of The Erotic Power
I m writing to you to discuss your essay The Erotic, the Exotic, and the Space Inbetween: The Race
for Feminist Waves. I thought that your essay was not only an interesting application of Audra Lorde s
notion of The Erotic as Power, but also the exploitation of the erotic in traditional wave models of
feminist movements. One of the aspects of your essay that I found really strong are the concrete
examples of women reclaiming their erotic power. I find that I have trouble understanding erotic
power due to the vague nature of that power. Furthermore, due to the fact that I ve been conditioned to
associate the female erotic power with female sexualty, I also have trouble disassociating those two
things. When I first read your essay, I still ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just as the wave model of feminism exploits the erotic, I personally feel that sex positive feminism
amplifies that exploitation. There is a cultural notion that women should not embrace their erotic
power unless it serves the needs of men often manifesting itself as sex and sensuality. Thus,
heteronormative sex positive feminism often works within that power structure under the guise of
unleashing erotic power while failing to destabilize that power structure itself. In my Arab American
Feminism class we read a piece entitled Sex and the Muslim Feminist by Rafia Zakaria in which she
argues that she has been made invisible and is left out of sex positive feminist discourse. In it, she
describes her experience in a course on feminism, noting that It would be impossible...to explain that
my oppositions were not at all to sex or sexual pleasure, but to its construction as unproblematic, un
colonized by patriarchy, the entire measure of liberation. I think that this quote gets to the heart of my
issue of sex positive feminism that in an effort to unleash the power of the erotic, that erotic power
often becomes exploited while the problematic implications of this movement are left unnoticed

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Mergers In Banks
INTRODUCTION
Banking industry plays a very important role in the economic growth of a country. Mergers and
Acquisitions have become a positive way for growth in the size of banks which in turn play a
significant role in entering the competitive global financial market. The Indian banking sector can be
divided into two eras, the pre liberalization era and the post liberalization era. In pre liberalization era
government of India nationalized 14 Banks on 19 July 1969 and later on 6 more commercial Banks
were nationalized on 15 April 1980. In the year 1993 government merged The New Bank of India and

commercial banks in Nigeria. Gross earnings, profit after tax and deposit profile was chosen as
financial efficiency parameters for the purpose of study. The findings indicated an enhanced financial
performance leading to improved financial efficiency.
Devarajappa S (2012) in their research explored various motives of merger in the Indian banking
sector. It further compared pre and post merger financial performance of merged banks by using
various financial parameters. The result suggested that post merger, the financial performance of the
banks have improved, particularly, the return on equity, debt equity ratio and Gross Profit ratio have
shown significant improvement after the merger.
Saluja Rajni, Sharma Sheetal, Dr. Lal Roshan (2012) evaluated the impact of merger on the financial

Mammy Archetype
All African Americans have been portrayed in stereotypical roles since their arrival into American
society for the entertainment and amusement of others. Many people find it difficult to appreciate the
diversity of the African American women. So instead of trying to do this, they create identities based
on negative stereotypes. There are several negative stereotypes associated with the African American
woman. The Mammy archetype is the one chosen to be analyzed in this essay. Collins described the
mammy as the faithful, obedient domestic servant. Created to justify the economic exploitation of
house slaves and sustained to explain Black women s long standing restriction to domestic service...

Mammy is also seen as a very loyal and faithful woman to the one she cares for, but still not respected.
Like the traditional mammy figure, the modern day mammy is almost always large, asexual, and wise.
One factor that might separate the modern day mammy from the traditional mammy is that the modern
day mammy seems to have a little more attitude or sass. She also comes in many different skin tones,
but still not light skin.
Mabel Madea Simmons is a fictional character created and played by Tyler Perry himself. The
character is a tough elderly black woman. Madea gets even, mostly in a bad way. Madea is also highly
overreactive. She is seen willingly threatening the use of deadly weapons, destroying property, using
physical violence, and she loves to take on the law. Because of her overreactive ways, Madea has
repeatedly landed herself in court, anger management classes, house arrest, and even prison.
Despite some of the negative traits that she does possess, Madea does exhibit the traits of the Mammy
such as: being a nurturer, a caregiver, and a protector, while also maintaining the basic appearance of a
Mammy. Historically, Mammy was shown to have extreme loyalty to the white family that she cared
for and showed devotion towards them while not showing a lot of attention to her own family, if she
even had one at all. Madea does this but in her own way. She has the same loyalty and dedication but

Art As An Obscenity
Art as obscenity and the argument
What defines something as obscene? More over, what does the term obscenity mean? The
interpretation of the word has differed in communities; styles and scenes whether it is unacceptable or
favorable a great deal of arguable queries have arisen not only in the art community but most of the
population. Obscenity is a constitutionally unprotected form of speech (About Us Art Law Library:
Obscenity. Avaliable at: http://ncac.org/resource/art law library obscenity) although obscenity may be
examined cautiously by few, the issue around the interpretation is deliberated in today s court system
regularly. The Hicklin or also known as the Roth test first declared a legal examination in 1868 to be
conducted for obscenity, the court held that all material tending to deprave and corrupt those whose
minds are open to such immoral influences was obscene, regardless of its artistic history. (Ducat, C.R.
(2008) p.540) It was also decided that to be declared obscene one must or ones work must lack serious
literary, artistic, political, or scientific value (Waxman, O. (2016) Time) The later decision to retire the
Hitchin law reasoning stated by Justice William, J. Brennan JR settled that the opinion of obscenity is
utterly without redeeming social importance (West s Encyclopedia of American Law, edition 2. The
Gale Group) which in response to that meant it was no longer protected by the First Amendment. 1996

Classifying Dads
Everyone knows about that dad at their kids sporting events. I ve played basketball on all sorts of
teams with all sorts of players and because of my younger brother I had the opportunity to see even
more of those dads in a variety of sports. I, luckily don t have one of those dads, but I know lots of
those dads and constantly shake my head when I see one at a game. The three dads from most
annoying to least annoying types of sports dads are the chill dad, the coach dad and the know it all
dad. Everyone has encountered these dads at some point in time or maybe their dad is one of these
types. At games he sits down in the back or out of the way by himself, doesn t talk to refs, players or

doesn t shut up. At games he will be yelling at the refs, coaches and players. He always thinks his son
is the best on the team like the coach dad and makes sure to tell yell at him what to do while he s

his son from team to team because he never thinks the coach is using his son right. He always picks
fights with the coaches and expressed publicly what he thinks of the coach which usually isn t good
things. The know it all dad could also be the coaching dad, but his teams aren t together long because
players and parents can t stand being around him too long. These three dads are easy to spot. Just look
in the stands and wait for the dad that stands up or yells the most and they will be spotted quickly.
Although some sports dads are more annoying than others it might be the dad some people need. The
know it all dad would be so annoying to some people that it would motivate them to shut him

The Hero’s Journey Essay
The Hero s Journey
Watching a film, one can easily recognize plot, theme, characterization, etc., but not many realize
what basic principle lies behind nearly every story conceived: the hero s journey. This concept allows
for a comprehensive, logical flow throughout a movie. Once the hero s journey is thoroughly
understood, anyone can pick out the elements in nearly every piece. The hero s journey follows a
simple outline. First the hero in question must have a disadvantaged childhood. Next the hero will find
a mentor who wisely lays out his/her prophecy. Third the hero will go on a journey, either literal or
figurative, to find him/herself. On this journey the hero will be discouraged and nearly quit his/her
quest. Finally, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

famous for writing one book, a masterpiece, and then falling from the public eye, never to write again.
The unlikely pair, mentor each other in this film, Forrester turning Jamal into a well developed writer,
and Jamal helping Forrester break out of his protective bubble and experience life again. Throughout
the movie the odd couple each must face tests and tribulations, culminating in a spectacularly moving
finale. Although the film does not fall into the epic/action category, the hero s journey surely can be
found.
The hero s journey usually follows a certain rubric with little variation. These films are no exceptions.
In Star Wars, Luke Skywalker is without a doubt a disadvantaged youth. His parents have died, and he
lives under his aunt and uncle who spurn his attempts to leave the farm and make it on his own.
Through a chance meeting, Luke finds himself a mentor, the wise recluse, Ben Kenobi. Kenobi tells
Luke of amazing battles throughout the galaxy, sparking his inborn interest in the stars. Later in the
film, after his aunt and uncle are murdered, Luke finds himself thrust into an ongoing intergalactic war
between the evil Empire and the rebellion. It is here that Luke

Hrm Labor Relations Paper
Being an HR manager in any company requires a lot of carefulness and tact. The HR manager is
responsible for hearing out the employees and making sure that the work environment is conducive for
them. There are always problem to foresee. For example, when there is talk of unionizing and the HR
manager hears about this, something has to be done immediately. This is the case with these four
companies. Acme Auto Parts, The Zinnia, School District 273 and Woodville Healthcare are all
relatively small companies that seem to be compensating their employees properly. However, there
have been talks about unionizing. There are even petitions being signed. As an HR manager, these

The article, The Concession Trap: Auto Worker Givebacks and Labor s Future, talks about how the
UAW failed to get their requests because the Big Three companies has had financial problems. The
employees also need to be informed about this. They need to know the background and history of the
union that is trying to contact them. I know this is an attempt to form a union because the first step
involves initiating an organizing drive. There could be three initiators: one or more employees, a
union or an employer. In this particular case, the union is trying to initiate the organization. They are
trying to contact employees of Acme Auto Care and are trying to convince them to unionize. These are
some the justifications I would use to explain to upper management the importance of immediate
action regarding the matter. Similarly, The Zinnia is a 300 room hotel in the central business district of
a major Midwestern metropolitan area (Budd 2013). They are a nonunion company. It seems that
employees are happy with their wages and benefits. In comparison to the other unionized hotels, The
Zinnia employees are compensated fairly. Many of the city s major hotels are unionized. The local
union is not afraid to organize union activity and to loudly vocalize their concerns through marches
and demonstrations. Normally, this would not be a concern but I recently received a notice from the
NLRB that a petition was filed by the local hotel union requesting an election covering

Tanguy s Painting The Earth And The Air
The earth and the air is an oil painting by the French Surrealist Yves Tanguy. It is one of the modern
art paintings in the Cone Collection, in the Baltimore Museum of Art. It is created by Tanguy in 1941.
It is about 30 x 40 wide with a wooden frame. The background colors divide the piece into mainly two
sections, the top and the bottom part. The top part is about 3/5 of the whole piece. It is painted in blue
and white, like a watercolor like sky without any subject matters. It has a dreamy feeling because the
colors blend smoothly.
There is no clear horizon line in the painting but it is still possible to separate the ground and the sky
by the background colors or the compositions. The top part is in mainly blue and white while the ...

The larger pieces are in the front while the objects in the back are smaller. Also the cast black shadows
of the objects are distinct with clear edges and more than one light spots are found in the painting.
Therefore there are several light sources coming from the right hand corner of the painting and shine
to the objects.
It is assumed that the main focus of the painting is the bottom part because the objects are placed there
and they draw viewers attention first. They are realistic but abstract and evenly distributed on the
page. They look like modern sculptures not only with alien shapes but also innovative colors. There
are a group of building like shapes on the most front of the painting. They are connected at the bottom
part so they can be described as a group. They have different dimensions and one of them has a very
sharp part pointing upwards to the melting land between the ground and the sky. There are several
alien objects around the main group, which some of them are really tiny but still are painted precisely.
There is a transparent object in between the middle ground and the background on the left hand side of
the painting. The whole shape blends into the background because of its transparency. Also it is
because there is not enough light shinning to the object to make it easily visible. One of the interesting
about the painting is there are two super tiny spots near the transparent object. They are painted clearly
and you can see them only on closer

Peter Singer And John Arthur s Views On Famine And Affluence
Peter Singer and John Arthur s views on Famine and Affluence
All living things need four basic elements for survival: food, water, shelter, and fire. There are
portions of the world that have difficulty finding some or all of these four basic elements for survival.
The United States is the top affluent country in the world, which often creates issues regarding
morality. America is known as the land of opportunities where someone could attain a job to afford
housing, food, warmth, and so on for their families and themselves. The fact that Americans are able
to afford to supply themselves beyond the essentials puts us in a position that can be disputed: should
we supply for others who cannot attain basic elements for survival? In a piece by Peter Singer entitled,
Famine, Affluence, and Morality, Singer argues that Americans should prevent atrocious situations to
arise but, we also should not sacrifice something of equal importance while doing so. Moreover, in the
piece by John Arthur, World Hunger and Moral Obligation: The Case Against Singer, Arthur disagrees
with Singer; he believes that we should help the poverty stricken but, it is not morally imperative to do
so. The main point Singer is trying to show his audience is that we should try to prevent unfortunate
circumstances to arise for others but we should do so without losing something of equal importance to
us. This means that we should help the less fortunate but without putting ourselves

Lessons For Women By Zhao B The Lament Of Chinese Women

The Lament of Chinese Women
China, as one of the four ancient civilizations, has a long history and thus people there have always
been emerging in a full complex set of ethical codes under the influence of Taoism and Confucianism.
Like many people from other civilizations, Chinese people share a traditional patrilineal society and
therefore creates a whole set of gendered stereotypes to classify the social roles of men and women.
Till now, those understandings still somehow affect how people act within the community, however, in
a negative way.
Many women are trapped in those outdated comprehensions of gender roles and thus living in
restrained lives. In the past day, women are always instructed to be a gentle wife who serves her
husband intimately and sexually, a conservative family member who don t listen or talking about
politics or any kinds of men s activities, and the most important things, a mother who can take care of
the children in her husband s family and raised them to their work age. These harsh social tasks are
incredibly essential for women to follow in the old time.
In the book Lessons for Women by Zhao Ban, a series of intelligible moral identities for women are
illustrated as well as a stringent list of pros and cons for daily life are exhibited. The book is the family
teaching that Zhao, as a mother, writes to her daughters to have them success in their future lives as
wives and mothers. In the book, she

Student Apathy In Education
The Problem
Because kids come from different cultural and economic backgrounds, it is difficult to engage all
students 100% of the time. Furthermore, many students, to help their parents financially, work after
school or misses school entirely to take care of their siblings while Mom and Dad work many parents
cannot afford daycare. Some students are homeless, living on the street or with relatives for a week or
two at a time. Moreover, our refugee students (from war torn countries) suffer from both Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder and anxiety caused by the process of acculturation. Students who have
normal home lives may suffer abuse, neglect, and may have family addicted to drugs and alcohol.
Stress and anxiety levels are at an all time high for today s youth; therefore, it is not surprising that
they are apathetic about learning. While this general apathy in education has increased rapidly over the
last few years, there is good news. We already have the remedy and it costs nothing. De Lay (2014),
suggests that student apathy is a by product of mediocre teaching and the absence of a learning
purpose. At its best, the current educational system is archaic. As a result, students are taught to think
in a linear fashion that is wholly unlike the world in which they live (Robinson, 2010). Educational
practices brought into the 21 century will encourage students to feel the excitement of learning. Not
only is it important for students to become lifelong learners, but

Children s Cognitive And Socio Emotional Development

Another example of cognitive development is joining other in observing and discussing about
butterflies. According to Gonzalez Mena (2010), teachers should ensure children s cognitive
development is given plenty of opportunities to be nurtured and extended through small collaborative
groups. After the discussions Sarah was still interested in the butterflies, and while in the art area used
her reflection skills to create a drawing depicting a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis. Therefore,
creativity is important in promoting cognitive development and should be either planned or
spontaneous (Gonzalez Mena Widmeyer Eyer, 2012). Thus, ensuring the learning environment
stimulate and encourages a child s curiosity, and allows for free exploration. In Piaget s theory of
cognitive development, it is emphasise that children learn through exploring and creating their world.
The theory viewed cognitive development as stages. Based on those ideas in the theory a four year
olds cognitive development is viewed as the preoperative stage, where a child is able to use symbols
or words to represent objects, places and events through speech and are (Gonzalez Mena Widmeyer
Eyer, 2012). Therefore, both observations three and four have can be used as a reflection of Sarah s
preoperative learning and thinking. For example, in observation three Sarah is able

Where Have You Gone, Joe Dimaggio And Garfunkel s Song...
Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio, Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you, (Simon
Garfunkel, 1968). This famous song lyric from Simon and Garfunkel s song Mrs. Robinson has
sprung up much controversy in America, since it was released in the year 1968. Many tragedies and
changes had happened in the years between when Joe DiMaggio retired from his baseball career and
when this song was written. People wanted a happier time in the United States, like when Joe
DiMaggio was a major icon among the American people. Joe DiMaggio left behind a legacy in the
history of America, giving hope to not only Americans, but immigrants as well who were seeking the
American dream. He continues to lead MLB players for hitting streaks to this day, he led men in the
United States Army Air Forces, and he also established the Joe DiMaggio
Children s Hospital Foundation.
The lyric that was pulled from the song Mrs. Robinson, may be short but I think it tells a lot about
who Joe DiMaggio was as a person and how people viewed him at him at the time. Joe
DiMaggio was looked at as an idol when he was playing baseball. People thought that he was the
perfect example of the American dream. His parents were Italian immigrants and were very poor, so
seeing him become so famous gave many other immigrants a sense of hope for a better life. Between
the time that Joe DiMaggio ended his baseball career and the time that the song Mrs. Robinson was
written, many things had changed in America over the 17 year

The Strengths and Weaknesses of the Cosmological Argument...
The Strengths and Weaknesses of the Cosmological Argument for the Existence of God
The cosmological argument seeks to prove the existence of God by looking at the universe. It is an A
posteriori proof based on experience and the observation of the world not logic so the outcome is
probable or possible not definite. The argument is in three forms; motion, causation and being. These
are also the first three ways in the five ways presented by Aquinas through which he believed the
existence of God could be shown. Aquinas regarded Aristotle as the principal philosopher so many of
these concepts originate in the thinking of Aristotle.
One example of the cosmological argument is the argument of ... Show more content on

Therefore, it is more believable that the universe had a beginning and a personal creator.
The third of Aquinas ways is the argument of contingency. The world consists of contingent items
items that have a property are items referred to as being. These items are generated and perish; they
have a beginning and an end. There must have once been a time when nothing existed. But then how
did these items come into being? There must be something or someone able to bring other items into
being without itself being brought into being. This necessary being is God.
These arguments are strong ones for the existence of God, built upon clear and apparently true
observations of the world around us. However, there are many criticisms. Hume argued that both
Thomas Aquinas and William Lane Craig contradict themselves by firstly denying the possibility of
the infinite, but then claiming that there must have been an infinite being. How can this be so?
Supporters of the argument could use the idea that God is unique and outside the laws of nature. But
even so, this point weakens the argument as there is no proof of the attributes of God.
Many may ask these questions: Why does the universe have to be caused? Why cannot it always have
been there? The human mind seems incapable of comprehending the idea of infinity, yet we accept the
idea of an immortal being. A

Childhood Parents And Special Education
Introduction/ Problem Statement As children grow, they are expected to meet milestones along the
way to ensure proper development is taking place. When a child fails to meet the developmental
milestones for their age, interventions are often put into place in efforts to help the child perform as
close to the expectations for his or her age as possible. These early interventions can help rectify the
child s deficiency; but at times, the child may need to receive long term assistance or accommodation;
particularly when entering school. These children can be recommended for special education. Being
placed in special education affords children the opportunity to learn at their own pace with all the
specific support they need. The children s needs are met with guidance, patience, and scaffolding.
Early childhood parents often have negative perceptions towards special education; resulting in the
delay or impediment of their child receiving services. In this author s experience as a classroom
teacher, approximately half of all the parents whose child was identified as special needs resisted or
delayed their child s participation in services or special education because of their perceptions towards
special education. It is necessary to understand what contributes to the perceptions in order to provide
parents support they need to not only accept, but embrace their child s needs to ensure the child
performs at his or her full potential.

Issues and Ideas of Polygamy by Aisha B. Lemu
Issues and ideas of Polygamy by Aisha B. Lemu
In the essay of Defense of Polygamy by the british, feminist, activist and writer Aisha B. Lemu,
explains why polygamy could be a great solution for many women without partners or for many
women with partners but with difficulties in their relations. She explain why because of the large
numbers of men dying in war, and others violent confrontation groups, a huge group of widows,
fiancés, and women in general, have left alone without any protection for themselves or their children.
The quantities in general of men in these days are low and have left a large group of women alone
with no or difficult chances to get married or have a partner. Therefore, she states that most of women

What will happen then in the future or into a few more years where the disorder of sexes will may be
so dramatic that for every man twelve women will be shared? Then what? Polygamy will maybe not
be a truth solution and then maybe we will have to attack the true problems of violence and deaths of
men. Another point that the author exposed is the circumstances where the wives are sick and the
husbands can t manage it or where wives are unable to have children while the husband very much
wants them . This argument represents a more logical thought, although not entirely correct in my
opinion and own personal believes. I just can t still understand why it is necessary to go get another
partner just for the benefit of a baby, when you could solve it renting a belly without resorting to
commitments with other woman. But even if it happens or not, I think that the choices of a couple are
personal choices and if the wife agrees then is her own personal choice. The other point that exposes
is the cases where a marriage has not been very successful and the husband loves another woman. The
author also express some things about when a husband need to divorce from the first wife to be with
the second wife, but the first wife doesn t want to be divorce for the secure of the marriage, for herself
and their children . Before starting to explain anything else I do think is quite understandable the
worry that a wife could have for the economical and physical securities

The Discovery Of Ancient Egyptian Art
The first time I saw this topic on Unit 2:Egypt, a beautiful quote came to my mind from Pablo Picasso.
He once said that Painting is just another way of keeping a diary , and even though, we know a little
bit about Nebamun, by what I perceived from the paintings or frescoes found in his tomb is that,
Nebamun was a nobleman during the new kingdom. And to understand Ancient Egyptian art it must
be viewed from the point of Ancient Egyptians noblemen. My goal of this essay is to tell my readers
what mean the frescoes in the Tomb of Nebamun and how two of the frescoes found in the Tomb of
Nebamun: hunting birds and Female musicians and dancers entertaining guests at a meal tell us about
Egyptian daily life. To achieve this goal, I have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before I begin explaining about the frescoes, I would like to explain the technique used in the
paintings found on the Tomb of Nebamun. It is called Fresco and according to Sayre is a technique
used for painting on walls. The wet plaster is applied to a section of a wall that is small enough to stay
wet while the artist works on it. Then the artist mixes pigments or dry color with limewater and
applies the paint to the wet wall. The wet plaster soaks up the wet pigment, so the painting becomes
part of the wall. (Cave Paintings to Picasso 15). Now that we have learned about the frescoes, it is
time to focus our attention on the first section, Thebes is the Greek name for a city in Ancient Egypt,
known as Waset, located about 800 km south of the Mediterranean, on the east bank of the river Nile.
In this place, we can find at least 415 known and unknown tombs of the Egyptians, and most of them
are painted with beautiful frescoes. According to Sporre, the painted tombs of Thebes provide most of
our knowledge of Egyptian painting for the period of the New Kingdom, which lasted from around
1575 to 1000 B.C.E (39). This, like almost all Egypt art, compromises funerary art, and it reinforces
the concept of religion as a pervasive force in Egyptian life. For the first time in history, we find in
Theban tombs representations of the gods. The paintings also portray the vivacity and humor of daily
life. Theban tombs portray workmen and peasants differently

The Super Power s Role in Fueling the Dispute in the...
The Middle East is a region to which the superpowers attached great significance and in which they
evidenced great attention. The United States and the Soviet Union became the main external powers of
significance in the Middle East in the period since the end of World War II but mostly since the mid
1950s and the withdrawal of British and French influence from the region. The superpowers had
conflicting and similar interests and their policies often clashed, but they avoided direct conflict while
their respective clients were occupied in war. The Arab League, an organisation that represented all of
the Arab countries, promised its support for Nasser and Arab enmity towards Israel amplified still
further. There were also key changes in other parts of the Middle East, which had conventionally
supported the West. The pro western system in Iraq was overthrown in 1958 and Syria and Libya both
began to look to the Soviet Union for military aid. In 1958 Syria and Egypt created the United Arab
Republic, this lasted for three years until a revolution in Syria in 1961. Nasser had hoped that this
would be the foundation for the Pan Arab movement that he dreamed of. In 1964 Nasser supported the
starting up of the Palestine Liberation organisation. A few incidents, such as the Suez Crisis led to
Superpower involvement in the Middle East on a large scale. From being a Middle Eastern concern,
relations between Israel and its Arab neighbors became a potential global crisis point. To try to

Cultural Dimensions of Theology An examination of Israelite theology goes beyond finding
similarities and differences, it should articulate the relationships which existed and clarify the cultural
context. Otherwise, the mere interpretation of text may lead to interpretation with a theological
significance based on our understanding. Scope of Comparative Study Academic attention in
comparative studies focused on either individual features or literary preservation of traditions.
Comparative research can be divided into three categories: 1) individual elements, 2) worldview
concepts, and 3) literary preservation. Conclusions Walton listed ten principles for performing
comparative studies and stated four goals for undertaking background studies. CHAPTER 2:
COMPARATIVE STUDIES, SCHOLARSHIP, AND THEOLOGY Comparative study is employed by
critical scholars in the critical study of historical and literary texts and is also used in confessional
contexts. This chapter will look at the roles comparative studies play in both the critical and
confessional contexts as well as how it is utilized for polemic purposes. Comparative Study and

Integrating Instructional Technology Essay

Integrating Instructional Technology
Jimmy L. Burnett, Jr.
Grand Canyon University: EDU 225 Instructional Technology
July 22, 2012
Technology of the past 20 years has become a focal point of teaching and learning. As a teacher, it is
my job to facilitate the learning for an individual by creating an environment that not only conducive
for learning, but also places the child in a position to discover and learn them for themselves.
Technology has given teachers to opportunity to take learning beyond the classroom, and has begun to
reshape their role in the learning process. In the past, teachers were looked upon as the purveyor of all

There are a litany of interactive products that can be implemented, but I lean more towards the use of
Smart Boards and Mimio Interactive Products. Mimio and Smartboards give all your students the
opportunity to become actively engaged in the lesson being taught. In addition to the engagement, it
also eliminates any anxieties that a child may have in terms of standing in front of the class, because it
allows them to interact or participate within the comforts of their own desk. Plus it s fun, and who
doesn t like having fun, even if it s in school. Pros and Cons According to Huff Post Education, part of
the Huffington Post internet newspaper that caters to the world of education, companies such Google,
Verizon and Microsoft are pouring in million upon millions of dollars to provide schools with the
latest in new gadgets and devices. The schools are in return, are looking for technology to revive
student performances in the classroom (Contributing writer to the Huffington Post, 2010). As I
mentioned earlier, my goal is to produce lifelong learners. I want my students to be just a captivated in
my class as they are to latest music video by their favorite artist. Engagement is the true issue here,
and begs the question, Does technology foster engagement or inhibit it?, (Ain, 2011). I for one,
believe that technology can do what is it purposed to do, and that is to foster engagement and enable
critical and creative thinking (Ain,

Evaluation Of Audit And Assurance Standards Board
Title
The title of the proposed research is as follows; A review of auditors approach to audit risk in the UK
Introduction
As defined by the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) audit risk is The
risk that the auditor expresses an inappropriate audit opinion when the financial statements are
materially misstated (IAASB, 2009). The purpose of the auditors is to obtain reasonable assurance that
financial statements are prepared in accordance with an applicable financial framework, are free from
material misstatements and show a true and fair view of the company. This is to ensure shareholders
are able to make rational decisions regarding their investment through reliance on the financial
statements. The proposed research would provide a better insight into available rules and procedures
designed to aid auditors in the assessment of audit risk, but more importantly, examine their own
approaches. It would be interesting to see how companies use their own judgement to identify audit
risks, measure their significance and deal with the findings. Additionally, awareness of the process and
approaches used by auditors to identify audit risks would enable shareholders to raise their
understanding about the accuracy of an audit opinion and so the extent to which it can be relied on.
Literature Review
One of the key sources will be the information on audit risk, the procedures and processes provided on
the websites by some of the UK audit companies

Delaware Horses History
There is a trail down the road in Delaware where I enjoy taking my dog for a walk. It is a beautiful,
five mile loop traversing cornfields, thick patches of forest, steep hills and flowing streams; a
wonderful place to escape the hustle and bustle of the suburban lifestyle and spend some time amongst
the peacefulness of nature. It is not a complete escape, however, for I am not the only person that
knows of the trail it seems to also be a favorite of horseback riders. Often times I will encounter a
rider or two at some point during my walk and, without fail, I will be in awe of the size and majesty of
the horse. What an incredible, gentle beast it is. Standing next to a horse, you cannot help but gawk at
the bulging, toned muscles and long, agile legs. It is truly an athlete with a rare combination of
strength and speed. Yet, they are gentle and kind and have therefore been joined at the hip with
humans; today, nearly all horses have been domesticated. So I find myself ... Show more content on

From its early stages as a 40 cm tall, 25 kg Eohippus to its current state as a 1.6 meter tall, 500 kg
beast, every step can be traced through an abundance of fossils located mostly right here in the United
States. While the changes in equids from their beginnings until now are drastic, I found it interesting
that it was not necessarily gradual. Most of the changes in size, structure and teeth did not happen
until the Miocene, upon which the development was rapid. Figure 5 shows the mass of Equid genera
in comparison to when they lived. For the first half of equid development, barely any change occurred.
This displays how important environmental factors are in the evolution of species; without the
emergence and prominence of open grasslands in the Miocene, horses as we know them today would

Descriptive Essay About My Journey
My journey the day I left my home country in search of a better life was not as pleasurable or exciting
as I expected. Although it was not a long flight, the accumulation of unexpected vicissitudes during
the trip made my dream of traveling an absolute nightmare. Not only my sadness to be leaving my
family behind, the uncertainty to fly alone and for the first time, or my inexperience with the
procedures at the airport contributed to this calamity, but even my neighbor on the plane added his bit
of sand in the affair. All this situation was such traumatic to me that I even considered never daring to
fly again.
The nightmare began long before I even set foot on the plane. To start, I was traveling from the
international airport of Havana, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This event caused an enormous fuss at the airport, and I could feel the heat of my red face boiling of
shame for being the center of attention at that moment. Once the clutter of the corrupt employee
quieted down, I went to check my luggage. Although the line was not so long, it took an eternity for
me to receive assistance, since the only two clerks available at the time for that function had a lively
talk and did not appear to be in any hurry to attend the line of impatient travelers. Finally, my turn
came! The young woman took my documentation with such slow movements that her arms gave the
impression of having five pound weights attached to each hand, and then she asked me to put my
luggage on a digital scale to my side. I did not have much in my suitcase, only clothes for a week, a
couple of family photos, and a small, fluffy, pink bag with my makeup, body lotions, and my favorite
perfume that smelled like the ocean in Hawaii impregnated with the exotic fragrance of the Plumerias.
Since everything was in order with the weight, they tagged my luggage and put it on the baggage belt
while my eyes followed it until it disappeared behind the curtains.
Throughout the check in process, I tried to show myself steady and calm; I did not want my relatives
there to perceive the pain and sadness reflected in my face for leaving them behind. When the time to

Impact Of Technology On The Music Industry
Over the years, music has become portable, starting with the transistor to a set of headphones.
Technology has allowed us to create a diverse musical culture. Music will always have an effect on
one s culture, and it has definitely mad a huge impact on the use of technology. Cultural diversity is
about bringing people closer together though the World Wide Web. Many music publishers are the key
to cultural diversity when it comes to publishing all genres. They will increasingly continue to play a
part in promoting diversity by bringing music of all kinds and forms to the music market. The way we
access and listen to music has changed a lot in the music industry. For some, it may seem easier to
download your favorite song from your favorite artist, but there are rules to the file sharing and
downloading of music. Before there was file sharing, people would gather in concert halls for
impressive music from some of the best known composers of all time. Today, there has been an
abundance of ways to access and listen to music, in writing this paper, my goal is to discuss copyright
laws, file sharing, and the progression of how we access music.
Before we reached the electronic musical era, there was good old fashion concert halls. People would
gather together in the concert halls to see many different composers perform, all from which were in
different eras; the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic era. By the year 1877, Thomas Edison had
discovered how to record and reproduce sound

Corporate Finance Analyst Of The Investment Bank
Introduction:
The corporate finance analyst of the investment bank is required to compute the fair price of the bond
and to estimate the number of bond issuing. The computation is based on the yield to maturity, which
measures the return that an investor would expect to receive by holding a bond until maturity.
The Yield Curve, also known as term structure of interest rate, is a commonly used financial tool that
tracks the relation between the yields and the time to maturity of a bond. Estimating the yield on a non
currently traded bond and identifying mispriced bonds are the purposes of using the yield curve. It
could, furthermore, be used to forecast future performance of the yield on a bond. (Harris, 2014) The
yield curve could be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Fig. 1)
Knowing that, the A rated bond, which was required to issue for the purpose of raising five million
dollars debt, had a coupon rate of 5.5%, a maturity of 15 years and one $1000 face value .
Results:
Considering the third order polynomial method with using the OLS regression, gave the values of
estimated parameters. (Table 1) Thus, the function of fitted yield curve, which estimated the
relationship between the yields and the time to maturity, could be determined. ( Fig. 2) Given that the
time to maturity of required issuing bond was 15 years, which could therefore gave the yield of
5.005% according to the fitted yield curve function. Consequently, this would give the bond price of
$1051.748 and the number of bond that investment bank should issue to raise debt was 4754. For a
more precise estimation, the sub data set of the A rated bonds that had the coupon rate ranging from
5% to 6% could be picked out and calculated with the same procedure applied as before. This would
then gave the the yield to maturity of 4.957%, bond price of 1056.979 and the number of issuing bond
of 4730. (Table 2)
Limitation:
The third order polynomial fitted yield curve approach gives the estimated relationship between yields
and maturities, however, the fitted trend is not capable enough to explain the variation in bond yields
perfectly. If the required issuing

Langston Hughes Silhouette
Many writers of the past and even today have attempted to openly talk of African American racial
biases, hatred and aggression issues. Langston Hughes was very successful in shinning the light in this
subject through his poem Silhouette which was written in 1949. Through his selective yet literal
choice of words Hughes created a powerful and haunting image of African American injustice and
atrocities.
The original context of Silhouette was an indirectly stated and strong outcry that persuaded the reader
to openly view the injustice towards blacks, in this case the event of hanging a black man. The poem
was really powerful in part because of the hostile era during the early and late 1940s where being near
white women was forbidden and for which several African Americans especially in the South were
lynched or brutally punished. This aspect grabbed the essential audience and created the perfect
atmosphere to deliver his message through the poem, because all ... Show more content on

Hughes seems to do intentionally to be sarcastic because in a respectful and pleading manner he tells
the white lady not to tempt a black man because of the outcomes. As well, do not swoon could be
interpreted in many different ways but it seems to exonerate the white gently lady from the actions
taken against this man. The poem is very straightforward, literal and bold by explicitly narrating and
portraying the hanging of a black man for the protection of a white woman. Hughes is blatant in his
imagery, they ve hung a black man/In the dark of the moon and they ve hung a black/ To a road side

John Locke s Views On Private Property And Politics
Each Philosopher in the early modern world has different perspectives regarding private property and
politics in society. Although John Locke, Niccolo Machiavelli, and Karl Marx/Frederick Engels are
from different times their criticism are crucial onto the world. Being from different eras gives them a
unique perspective of how one should rule or govern. Each philosopher displays his own ideas and can
seemingly disagree with one another in their methods of government. Therefore when issues of
malicious rulers, private property, and politics arise, each philosopher handles these situations
differently in which they criticize their method to what they believe is the right way.
Locke s views in the social environment would criticize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Machiavelli did not view all men equal. He believed that some men were a better fit to be rulers than
others. Machiavelli felt this because of the corrupt government that was taken in action at that time so
he knew that the government needed a ruler who can ensure stability and can properly manage it.
These are the characteristics that the Prince had in Machiavelli s book. An example from the book can
be seen as the Judeo Christian values as faulty in the state s success. Such visionary expectations, he
held, bring the state to ruin, for we do not live in the world of the ought, the fanciful utopia, but in the
world of is .(Machiavelli) The role of The Prince was not to gain integrity or virtue, but to guarantee
security within the government.
John Locke has a dissimilar opinion than Machiavelli. He is basically against Machiavelli because he
believes that an authoritarian government is unlawful and unjust to society. (Locke) John Locke
believes that all men are created equal, have the right to own property and are naturally moral and
rational. Locke believed in a natural right to life, liberty, and property; inherent rights to freedom and
self governance that no one can take away from people. (Locke) He thinks that people should govern
themselves and be accountable for their actions. Locke describes political power as the right to make
the laws for the

  • 2. An Analysis Of The Erotic Power I m writing to you to discuss your essay The Erotic, the Exotic, and the Space Inbetween: The Race for Feminist Waves. I thought that your essay was not only an interesting application of Audra Lorde s notion of The Erotic as Power, but also the exploitation of the erotic in traditional wave models of feminist movements. One of the aspects of your essay that I found really strong are the concrete examples of women reclaiming their erotic power. I find that I have trouble understanding erotic power due to the vague nature of that power. Furthermore, due to the fact that I ve been conditioned to associate the female erotic power with female sexualty, I also have trouble disassociating those two things. When I first read your essay, I still ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Just as the wave model of feminism exploits the erotic, I personally feel that sex positive feminism amplifies that exploitation. There is a cultural notion that women should not embrace their erotic power unless it serves the needs of men often manifesting itself as sex and sensuality. Thus, heteronormative sex positive feminism often works within that power structure under the guise of unleashing erotic power while failing to destabilize that power structure itself. In my Arab American Feminism class we read a piece entitled Sex and the Muslim Feminist by Rafia Zakaria in which she argues that she has been made invisible and is left out of sex positive feminist discourse. In it, she describes her experience in a course on feminism, noting that It would be impossible...to explain that my oppositions were not at all to sex or sexual pleasure, but to its construction as unproblematic, un colonized by patriarchy, the entire measure of liberation. I think that this quote gets to the heart of my issue of sex positive feminism that in an effort to unleash the power of the erotic, that erotic power often becomes exploited while the problematic implications of this movement are left unnoticed and/or ... • 3. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Mergers In Banks INTRODUCTION Banking industry plays a very important role in the economic growth of a country. Mergers and Acquisitions have become a positive way for growth in the size of banks which in turn play a significant role in entering the competitive global financial market. In pre liberalization era government of India nationalized 14 Banks on 19 July 1969 and later on 6 more commercial Banks were nationalized on 15 April 1980. Many people find it difficult to appreciate the diversity of the African American women. So instead of trying to do this, they create identities based on negative stereotypes. There are several negative stereotypes associated with the African American woman. The Mammy archetype is the one chosen to be analyzed in this essay. Like the traditional mammy figure, the modern day mammy is almost always large, asexual, and wise. One factor that might separate the modern day mammy from the traditional mammy is that the modern day mammy seems to have a little more attitude or sass. She also comes in many different skin tones, but still not light skin. Mabel Madea Simmons is a fictional character created and played by Tyler Perry himself. The character is a tough elderly black woman. Madea gets even, mostly in a bad way. Madea is also highly overreactive. She is seen willingly threatening the use of deadly weapons, destroying property, using physical violence, and she loves to take on the law. Because of her overreactive ways, Madea has repeatedly landed herself in court, anger management classes, house arrest, and even prison. Despite some of the negative traits that she does possess, Madea does exhibit the traits of the Mammy such as: being a nurturer, a caregiver, and a protector, while also maintaining the basic appearance of a Mammy. Historically, Mammy was shown to have extreme loyalty to the white family that she cared for and showed devotion towards them while not showing a lot of attention to her own family, if she even had one at all. • 7. Art As An Obscenity Art as obscenity and the argument What defines something as obscene? More over, what does the term obscenity mean? The interpretation of the word has differed in communities; styles and scenes whether it is unacceptable or favorable a great deal of arguable queries have arisen not only in the art community but most of the population. Obscenity is a constitutionally unprotected form of speech (About Us Art Law Library: Obscenity. Avaliable at: http://ncac.org/resource/art law library obscenity) although obscenity may be examined cautiously by few, the issue around the interpretation is deliberated in today s court system regularly. The Hicklin or also known as the Roth test first declared a legal examination in 1868 to be conducted for obscenity, the court held that all material tending to deprave and corrupt those whose minds are open to such immoral influences was obscene, regardless of its artistic history. (Ducat, C.R. (2008) p.540) It was also decided that to be declared obscene one must or ones work must lack serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value (Waxman, O. (2016) Time) The later decision to retire the Hitchin law reasoning stated by Justice William, J. Brennan JR settled that the opinion of obscenity is utterly without redeeming social importance (West s Encyclopedia of American Law, edition 2. The Hero’s Journey Essay The Hero s Journey Watching a film, one can easily recognize plot, theme, characterization, etc., but not many realize what basic principle lies behind nearly every story conceived: the hero s journey. This concept allows for a comprehensive, logical flow throughout a movie. Once the hero s journey is thoroughly understood, anyone can pick out the elements in nearly every piece. The hero s journey follows a simple outline. First the hero in question must have a disadvantaged childhood. Next the hero will find a mentor who wisely lays out his/her prophecy. Third the hero will go on a journey, either literal or figurative, to find him/herself. On this journey the hero will be discouraged and nearly quit his/her quest. Finally, the ... I know this is an attempt to form a union because the first step involves initiating an organizing drive. There could be three initiators: one or more employees, a union or an employer. In this particular case, the union is trying to initiate the organization. They are trying to contact employees of Acme Auto Care and are trying to convince them to unionize. It is assumed that the main focus of the painting is the bottom part because the objects are placed there and they draw viewers attention first. • 12. Peter Singer And John Arthur s Views On Famine And Affluence Peter Singer and John Arthur s views on Famine and Affluence All living things need four basic elements for survival: food, water, shelter, and fire. There are portions of the world that have difficulty finding some or all of these four basic elements for survival. The United States is the top affluent country in the world, which often creates issues regarding morality. America is known as the land of opportunities where someone could attain a job to afford housing, food, warmth, and so on for their families and themselves. The fact that Americans are able to afford to supply themselves beyond the essentials puts us in a position that can be disputed: should we supply for others who cannot attain basic elements for survival? In a piece by Peter Singer entitled, Famine, Affluence, and Morality, Singer argues that Americans should prevent atrocious situations to arise but, we also should not sacrifice something of equal importance while doing so. Moreover, in the piece by John Arthur, World Hunger and Moral Obligation: The Case Against Singer, Arthur disagrees with Singer; he believes that we should help the poverty stricken but, it is not morally imperative to do so. The main point Singer is trying to show his audience is that we should try to prevent unfortunate circumstances to arise for others but we should do so without losing something of equal importance to us. This means that we should help the less fortunate but without putting ourselves ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Lessons For Women By Zhao B The Lament Of Chinese Women Nelson Huang Professor Wang FYS 13 November 2017 The Lament of Chinese Women China, as one of the four ancient civilizations, has a long history and thus people there have always been emerging in a full complex set of ethical codes under the influence of Taoism and Confucianism. Like many people from other civilizations, Chinese people share a traditional patrilineal society and therefore creates a whole set of gendered stereotypes to classify the social roles of men and women. Till now, those understandings still somehow affect how people act within the community, however, in a negative way. Many women are trapped in those outdated comprehensions of gender roles and thus living in restrained lives. In the past day, women are always instructed to be a gentle wife who serves her husband intimately and sexually, a conservative family member who don t listen or talking about politics or any kinds of men s activities, and the most important things, a mother who can take care of the children in her husband s family and raised them to their work age. These harsh social tasks are incredibly essential for women to follow in the old time. In the book Lessons for Women by Zhao Ban, a series of intelligible moral identities for women are illustrated as well as a stringent list of pros and cons for daily life are exhibited. The book is the family teaching that Zhao, as a mother, writes to her daughters to have them success in their future lives as wives and mothers. In the book, she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Student Apathy In Education The Problem Because kids come from different cultural and economic backgrounds, it is difficult to engage all students 100% of the time. Furthermore, many students, to help their parents financially, work after school or misses school entirely to take care of their siblings while Mom and Dad work many parents cannot afford daycare. Some students are homeless, living on the street or with relatives for a week or two at a time. Moreover, our refugee students (from war torn countries) suffer from both Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and anxiety caused by the process of acculturation. Students who have normal home lives may suffer abuse, neglect, and may have family addicted to drugs and alcohol. Stress and anxiety levels are at an all time high for today s youth; therefore, it is not surprising that they are apathetic about learning. While this general apathy in education has increased rapidly over the last few years, there is good news. We already have the remedy and it costs nothing. De Lay (2014), suggests that student apathy is a by product of mediocre teaching and the absence of a learning purpose. At its best, the current educational system is archaic. As a result, students are taught to think in a linear fashion that is wholly unlike the world in which they live (Robinson, 2010). Educational practices brought into the 21 century will encourage students to feel the excitement of learning. Not only is it important for students to become lifelong learners, but ... This famous song lyric from Simon and Garfunkel s song Mrs. Robinson has sprung up much controversy in America, since it was released in the year 1968. Many tragedies and changes had happened in the years between when Joe DiMaggio retired from his baseball career and when this song was written. People wanted a happier time in the United States, like when Joe DiMaggio was a major icon among the American people. Joe DiMaggio left behind a legacy in the history of America, giving hope to not only Americans, but immigrants as well who were seeking the American dream. He continues to lead MLB players for hitting streaks to this day, he led men in the United States Army Air Forces, and he also established the Joe DiMaggio Children s Hospital Foundation. The lyric that was pulled from the song Mrs. Robinson, may be short but I think it tells a lot about who Joe DiMaggio was as a person and how people viewed him at him at the time. Joe DiMaggio was looked at as an idol when he was playing baseball. People thought that he was the perfect example of the American dream. His parents were Italian immigrants and were very poor, so seeing him become so famous gave many other immigrants a sense of hope for a better life. The Strengths and Weaknesses of the Cosmological Argument for the Existence of God The cosmological argument seeks to prove the existence of God by looking at the universe. It is an A posteriori proof based on experience and the observation of the world not logic so the outcome is probable or possible not definite. The argument is in three forms; motion, causation and being. These are also the first three ways in the five ways presented by Aquinas through which he believed the existence of God could be shown. Aquinas regarded Aristotle as the principal philosopher so many of these concepts originate in the thinking of Aristotle. One example of the cosmological argument is the argument of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, it is more believable that the universe had a beginning and a personal creator. The third of Aquinas ways is the argument of contingency. The world consists of contingent items items that have a property are items referred to as being. These items are generated and perish; they have a beginning and an end. There must have once been a time when nothing existed. But then how did these items come into being? There must be something or someone able to bring other items into being without itself being brought into being. This necessary being is God. These arguments are strong ones for the existence of God, built upon clear and apparently true observations of the world around us. However, there are many criticisms. Hume argued that both Thomas Aquinas and William Lane Craig contradict themselves by firstly denying the possibility of the infinite, but then claiming that there must have been an infinite being. How can this be so? Supporters of the argument could use the idea that God is unique and outside the laws of nature. But even so, this point weakens the argument as there is no proof of the attributes of God. Many may ask these questions: Why does the universe have to be caused? Why cannot it always have been there? The human mind seems incapable of comprehending the idea of infinity, yet we accept the idea of an immortal being. A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Childhood Parents And Special Education Introduction/ Problem Statement As children grow, they are expected to meet milestones along the way to ensure proper development is taking place. When a child fails to meet the developmental milestones for their age, interventions are often put into place in efforts to help the child perform as close to the expectations for his or her age as possible. These early interventions can help rectify the child s deficiency; but at times, the child may need to receive long term assistance or accommodation; particularly when entering school. These children can be recommended for special education. Being placed in special education affords children the opportunity to learn at their own pace with all the specific support they need. The children s needs are met with guidance, patience, and scaffolding. Early childhood parents often have negative perceptions towards special education; resulting in the delay or impediment of their child receiving services. In this author s experience as a classroom teacher, approximately half of all the parents whose child was identified as special needs resisted or delayed their child s participation in services or special education because of their perceptions towards special education. It is necessary to understand what contributes to the perceptions in order to provide parents support they need to not only accept, but embrace their child s needs to ensure the child performs at his or her full potential. Another point that the author exposed is the circumstances where the wives are sick and the husbands can t manage it or where wives are unable to have children while the husband very much wants them . This argument represents a more logical thought, although not entirely correct in my opinion and own personal believes. I just can t still understand why it is necessary to go get another partner just for the benefit of a baby, when you could solve it renting a belly without resorting to commitments with other woman. But even if it happens or not, I think that the choices of a couple are personal choices and if the wife agrees then is her own personal choice. • 22. The Discovery Of Ancient Egyptian Art The first time I saw this topic on Unit 2:Egypt, a beautiful quote came to my mind from Pablo Picasso. He once said that Painting is just another way of keeping a diary , and even though, we know a little bit about Nebamun, by what I perceived from the paintings or frescoes found in his tomb is that, Nebamun was a nobleman during the new kingdom. And to understand Ancient Egyptian art it must be viewed from the point of Ancient Egyptians noblemen. My goal of this essay is to tell my readers what mean the frescoes in the Tomb of Nebamun and how two of the frescoes found in the Tomb of Nebamun: hunting birds and Female musicians and dancers entertaining guests at a meal tell us about Egyptian daily life. To achieve this goal, I have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before I begin explaining about the frescoes, I would like to explain the technique used in the paintings found on the Tomb of Nebamun. It is called Fresco and according to Sayre is a technique used for painting on walls. The wet plaster is applied to a section of a wall that is small enough to stay wet while the artist works on it. Then the artist mixes pigments or dry color with limewater and applies the paint to the wet wall. The wet plaster soaks up the wet pigment, so the painting becomes part of the wall. (Cave Paintings to Picasso 15). Now that we have learned about the frescoes, it is time to focus our attention on the first section, Thebes is the Greek name for a city in Ancient Egypt, known as Waset, located about 800 km south of the Mediterranean, on the east bank of the river Nile. In this place, we can find at least 415 known and unknown tombs of the Egyptians, and most of them are painted with beautiful frescoes. According to Sporre, the painted tombs of Thebes provide most of our knowledge of Egyptian painting for the period of the New Kingdom, which lasted from around 1575 to 1000 B.C.E (39). This, like almost all Egypt art, compromises funerary art, and it reinforces the concept of religion as a pervasive force in Egyptian life. For the first time in history, we find in Theban tombs representations of the gods. The paintings also portray the vivacity and humor of daily life. • 23. The Super Power s Role in Fueling the Dispute in the... The Middle East is a region to which the superpowers attached great significance and in which they evidenced great attention. The United States and the Soviet Union became the main external powers of significance in the Middle East in the period since the end of World War II but mostly since the mid 1950s and the withdrawal of British and French influence from the region. The superpowers had conflicting and similar interests and their policies often clashed, but they avoided direct conflict while their respective clients were occupied in war. The Arab League, an organisation that represented all of the Arab countries, promised its support for Nasser and Arab enmity towards Israel amplified still further. There were also key changes in other parts of the Middle East, which had conventionally supported the West. The pro western system in Iraq was overthrown in 1958 and Syria and Libya both began to look to the Soviet Union for military aid. In 1958 Syria and Egypt created the United Arab Republic, this lasted for three years until a revolution in Syria in 1961. Nasser had hoped that this would be the foundation for the Pan Arab movement that he dreamed of. In 1964 Nasser supported the starting up of the Palestine Liberation organisation. The purpose of the auditors is to obtain reasonable assurance that financial statements are prepared in accordance with an applicable financial framework, are free from material misstatements and show a true and fair view of the company. This is to ensure shareholders are able to make rational decisions regarding their investment through reliance on the financial statements. The proposed research would provide a better insight into available rules and procedures designed to aid auditors in the assessment of audit risk, but more importantly, examine their own approaches. It would be interesting to see how companies use their own judgement to identify audit risks, measure their significance and deal with the findings. Additionally, awareness of the process and approaches used by auditors to identify audit risks would enable shareholders to raise their understanding about the accuracy of an audit opinion and so the extent to which it can be relied on. Corporate Finance Analyst Of The Investment Bank Introduction: The corporate finance analyst of the investment bank is required to compute the fair price of the bond and to estimate the number of bond issuing. The computation is based on the yield to maturity, which measures the return that an investor would expect to receive by holding a bond until maturity. The Yield Curve, also known as term structure of interest rate, is a commonly used financial tool that tracks the relation between the yields and the time to maturity of a bond. Results: Considering the third order polynomial method with using the OLS regression, gave the values of estimated parameters. (Table 1) Thus, the function of fitted yield curve, which estimated the relationship between the yields and the time to maturity, could be determined. ( Fig. 2) Given that the time to maturity of required issuing bond was 15 years, which could therefore gave the yield of 5.005% according to the fitted yield curve function. Consequently, this would give the bond price of $1051.748 and the number of bond that investment bank should issue to raise debt was 4754. For a more precise estimation, the sub data set of the A rated bonds that had the coupon rate ranging from 5% to 6% could be picked out and calculated with the same procedure applied as before. This would then gave the the yield to maturity of 4.957%, bond price of 1056.979 and the number of issuing bond of 4730. Langston Hughes was very successful in shinning the light in this subject through his poem Silhouette which was written in 1949. Through his selective yet literal choice of words Hughes created a powerful and haunting image of African American injustice and atrocities. The original context of Silhouette was an indirectly stated and strong outcry that persuaded the reader to openly view the injustice towards blacks, in this case the event of hanging a black man. The poem was really powerful in part because of the hostile era during the early and late 1940s where being near white women was forbidden and for which several African Americans especially in the South were lynched or brutally punished.
