Sustainability and Business Need to Come Together
Sustainability and business are not always looked as a good functioning pair. Businesses often struggle
to implement sustainability measures, as they think that it is costing money to shareholders/investors.
However, due to increasing pressure from the public, businesses are being forced to reconsidering at
adopting sustainability and good business practice. In today s interconnected global economy, the long
term goals and success of business are inevitably connected by embedding the environmental, social
and governance issues into corporate management, operations and supply chain. While corporate
sustainability recognizes that, though the corporate growth and profitability are vital, it also requires
the corporation to pursue societal goals, particularly those relating to sustainable development like;
safeguarding environmental, social equality and economic development. (Wilson, 2003) Corporate
sustainability can also be named as a new and evolving corporate management paradigm. The term
paradigm is used extensively, where the corporate sustainability is an alternative to the traditional
growth and profit maximization model. Sustainability is good for businesses both as a long term
strategy to improve employee trust, and as a short term abide to government legislation. Businesses
with sustainability practices are also more attractive to the ethical investors, and recover the costs of
managing sustainability through government grants and from increased sales. Ethical

Personal Finance Lessons Learned
While taking the personal finance course this past spring, I learned many valuable lessons that will
greatly assist me throughout my life. One lesson I learned is the importance of paying yourself first.
To put this into action, I will save money in an emergency fund to have enough money to live
comfortably for 3 to 6 months, in case of emergency. Furthermore, this course has taught me the
importance of budgeting. Using budgeting, I will make a plan for my money, so I can avoid over
drafting and bouncing checks. Another lesson personal finance taught me is to pay all bills and loans
on time to develop a good FICO credit score, which is what companies use to evaluate the risk of
loaning to an individual. Knowing this information will help me ... Show more content on

By using a CD instead of a savings account, I will be able to make more money off of the award due
to CDs having higher interest rates since the money cannot be withdrawn until the end of the term.
This would not be problematic for me because if I were to receive the award, I would use the money
for college expenses to invest in my human capital, so I would not need it for two years. Going to
college will give me a financial advantage in the long run because according to what I learned in
personal finance, people with degrees tend to have higher paying jobs. Additionally, with this award
and scholarships, I might get through college debt free. This too would be extremely beneficial to my
financial situation throughout life because I would not have to worry about paying off student loans
and could instead invest in stocks or in my retirement funds. Furthermore, I love volunteering and
giving back to my community, so I also want to invest in nonprofit organizations to help others find
their way in life and allow them the opportunity to go to college, get a well paying job, and hopefully
continue the cycle of giving back. Therefore, the money from this award would benefit me for the rest
of my life along with the community I will invest

The Squirrel Monkeys
Squirrel Monkeys
Since 1970 the population of Squirrel Monkeys has gone down from 200,000 to 5,000. Squirrel
Monkeys have the largest brains of any other living thing. They have 23 different calls. There can be
up to 500 Squirrel Monkeys in a group. The Squirrel Monkey is intriguing because of where it lives,
how it survives, and how it has been impacted by humans.
The Squirrel Monkeys live in rainforests.Squirrel Monkeys are the most abundant primate in riverside
forests in the Guianas and Amazon River basin. The most common Squirrel Monkeys have olive or

Of Nervous Conditions By Chinua Achebe s Nervous Conditions
THE AUTHENTICITY OF AFRICAN STORIES
Africa has been viewed as the antithesis of Europe. It has been undermined as some may say it is
underdeveloped. It has been portrayed as the exact opposite of civilised Europe as it is viewed as
uncivilised. Africans have been eliminated as a human factor and seen as animals. In this essay I will
outline how African literature have been able to reclaim African stories through their authenticity. I
will use the novel Nervous Conditions by Tsitsi Dangarembga and two short stories A Private
Experience by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and The Prophetess by Njabulo Ndebele to show how
Africa has been successfully reclaimed from the stereotypical view of Europeans drawing as a basis
for further development from Chinua Achebe s article, An Image of Africa. I will first analyse the
novel Nervous Conditions under the theme of gender and patriarchal oppression. The short story A
Private Experience will focus on class divisions whilst The Prophetess will focus on beliefs.
According to Chinua Achebe, Joseph Conrad in his novella, Heart of Darkness represents Africa in an
opposite way to what Africa really is. He says Conrad depicts Africa as different and unknowable in
contrast to Europe. He views it as the exact opposite of Europe. Africa is viewed as uncivilised.
Joseph Conrad s novella eliminates Africans as a human factor and represents Africa as a blank stage
where Europeans enter an implicitly dangerous zone which functions as a plot

Decline in Water Supply in India
Introduction
The available water in India has declined drastically over the past several decades due to the rise in
demand for water sources across almost every industry. This shortage has greatly affected all activity
in India, including the agricultural industry and the available drinking water for domestic life. The
Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, or the FOA, believes that India will literally
run out of water if certain steps are not taken to replenish India s aquifers. To fully grasp the matter, an
explanation of the problem is below.
The main cause for concern is that India s flourishing agricultural industry uses the 91% of water
throughout the country leaving aquifers at lower levels every year. ... Show more content on

This type of depletion has experts exhausting resources to halt the progression of groundwater
extraction and to move to better innovations of irrigation enforcement.
Lack of Social Economic Stability from Overuse The overuse of water has raised concerns across
India and in some cases farmers have taken their lives from the poverty caused by the lack of
necessary water for their crops to prosper.
Fluorosis Epidemic in India Fluoride is a geologic material that lies underneath most of India. As
water tables decrease, farmers are forced to drill deeper into aquifers to unsafe zones containing
dangerous levels of fluoride. In India, the Fluorosis and Rural Development Foundation have
estimated that over 60 million people suffer from diseases caused by the overexposure of fluoride in
drinking water from underground aquifers.
Split in Surface Groundwater Hydrologic Connections With the continued overuse of aquifers,
sigmaxi.com states that In the Maheshwaram watershed of Andhra Pradesh chronic depletion of
groundwater has lowered the water table 15 m below the ground surface . This causes the streams and
springs once fed by groundwater to disappear. Basically, natural tanks that once held water have no
way to collect water anymore because the pathways

A Critical Analysis Of Edinburgh Fringe Festival
My aim is to conduct a critical analysis on the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, an annual event with the
purpose of providing a platform for unjuried theatrical performances. This event is an established one
and has been held in Edinburgh every August since 1947, when eight theatre groups turned up
uninvited at the Edinburgh International Festival and decided to perform their shows at the fringe of
the festival. (Edinburgh Festival Fringe, [Accessed: 23/05/2016])The Fringe began to grow every year
as more and more performers turned up and performed their own fringe shows. In 1985, the Festival
Fringe Society was created as a facility to formalise these performances and create a central box
office. The society decided to draft a constitution that ensured that whilst they governed the logistics
of the event, they still operated within the ethos of the founding members of the fringe. Therefore the
society maintains a policy that they have no part in vetting the performances for the festival.
(Edinburgh Festival Fringe, et al.)This means that anyone with a creative act can perform over the
three weeks in which the festival takes place. So, the Fringe Festival has come to be known for
hosting thousands of shows across hundreds of venues catering for a variety of tastes and interests.
The Fringe has succeeded in creating an outlet for many people who wouldn t have had the
opportunity to otherwise perform in front of thousands of accredited journalists, art industry
professionals in

Shellfish Allergies
Shellfish can cause an Allergic Reaction. These reactions can be caused by certain species of shellfish
or all shellfish, you can be allergic to fish and not shellfish or vice versa. In the following pages I will
cover shellfish allergies, shellfish species, the types of reactions and the treatment options as well as
coping with the allergy.
What is a Shellfish Allergy?
A shellfish allergy is an allergic reaction caused by contact with or consumption of shellfish. An
allergic reaction to shellfish can range from mildly uncomfortable to life threatening and while some
food allergies diminish or go away with age a shellfish allergy is typically a lifelong allergy that can

A Shellfish Allergy can affect your life in many ways. When going out to eat the sufferer must be
aware of their surroundings if they are sensitive to the proteins in steam from cooking shellfish as well
as cross contamination. Avoiding all contact is the best way to avoid a reaction. According to FAAN,
There appears to be no cross reactivity between fish and shellfish, but an individual can be allergic to
both. Fish and shellfish allergic individuals should avoid touching fish or shellfish, going to a fish
market, and being in an area where fish or shellfish are being cooked. Fish and shellfish protein can
become airborne in the steam released during cooking and can cause an allergic reaction....To avoid
seafood allergic reactions avoid eating in seafood restaurants if you are allergic to fish or shellfish,
even if you intend to order a meat or poultry dish. The chance of cross contact between the food
makes these restaurants high risk places (The food allergy , anaphylaxis network; nonprofit food

The Use of Literary Devices, Imagery, and Tone in Krapp’s...
The Imagery Tone of a Play:
The Use of Literary Devices Imagery Tone in Krapp s Last Tape
In the play Krapp s Last Tape, there is one protagonist who is described as sitting at a small table,
listening to tapes. Krapp is an impaired and broken down elderly man who spends his time listening to
his younger voice on tapes. He is egotistical and subjective towards his younger self and critiques the
way he acted in a certain place or time. He is lonely, but okay with it as he would rather focus on
things that he has already experienced, rather then engage in new ones. He is essentially stuck in the
past. The essay written below disputes the literary devices of imagery and tone in order to provide
background and symbolism in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Imagery plays a big part in describing the character s appearance and actions in order to show what a
character is like and how they respond to differing situations. It can also shape the story and reveal to
the reader the background of a person, place, or thing. In Krapp s Last Tape, the only character is
given much detail and description in order to start the play at a point where the reader already knows
some information about this elderly man. The literary convention of imagery provides insight into the
character that will lead the play.
Krapp, the main protagonist in Krapp s Last Tape is given a good amount of description, leading into
the beginning of dialogue. His raggedy grey hair, disheveled clothes, and death ridden face give the
reader an image of a character that has lived through many years. It is as if he has given up on life and
is preparing for what is to come. The fact that he is also hard of hearing and has a cracked voice,
seems to have intensified the distaste towards his character. Krapp s descriptive appearance helps to
foreshadow his cynical and confined personality.
Krapp also remains motionless for most of the play. The only actions that do take place are of him
eating a banana in the very beginning and the loading of the three tapes that Krapp focuses on in the
dialogue. This imagery of him loading the tapes and sitting at his table depicts

(Kotler,2003 cited in Cooper,Fletcher,Fyall,Gilbert,Wanhill,2005). Market management is to 3 choose
a target market, then keeping the customer and making more customers by sending them product they
want. The product of tourism and hospitality industry is different from other product. It is called
service product. The characteristics of the service product determine that the marketing for tourism
will face more difficulties than others. Intangibility is the first feature of the service product. It means
that the product can not be seen, assessed and showed before buying it. To attract customer, the
marketer could print brochures, make videos, broadcast advertisement to make the product more
concrete. Perishability is the second feature. It means that the product in tourism such as
accommodation can not be stored like other items. The product needs to be sold as soon as possible
because it can not be used for future sale. Therefore, marketers devise pricing policy to promote the
product. For example, in peak season, the hotel increase room charge to gain more profit, while in off
season, discount should be offered to attract more customers. The marketing activity for perishability
is to make the turnover stable, avoid huge ups and

Homelessness Under The Mckinney Vento Homelessness...
Homelessness is one of the oldest problems that exist, fast forward almost 40 years since it s been
recognized as one and still there has been no avail to finding a real solution. The definition of
homelessness under the McKinney Vento Homelessness Assistance Act is defined as an individual:
who lacks a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence; and a person who has a nighttime
residence that is supervised publicly or privately operated shelter, and c) an institution that provides a
temporary residence for individuals intended to be institutionalized, or a private or public place not
designed for, a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings.
Homelessness is basically another form of poverty except more extreme, yet society treats it as if it
was on another spectrum of problems. Some in society stigmatize this population by saying things
like: they re homeless because they are drug addicts, alcoholics, they don t want to work and just live
off the government for free. What many forget to think about are the factors that have these people on
the street, or the fact that they are not only experiencing personal hardship by being without a
permanent residence but emotional ones as well. Add the fact they are sometimes discriminated
against and excluded by society, and you will realize you are looking at one of the most vulnerable
populations.
This homelessness population consists of people from all age groups: infants, children, adolescents,
adulthood, and the

Grutter V. Bollinger
My area of interest is behavior analysis but for the purpose of this discussion I chose this case. Is it
illegal for graduate schools to refuse admittance to their program in preference of a different race that
meet the same qualifications? Our state and federal legislatures, executive bodies, and our courts have
been involved in many aspects of testing assessment. Courts have been grappling with the role of
diversity in criteria for admission to colleges, universities, and professional schools (Cohen, 2013). In
the case of Grutter v. Bollinger (2002) was a highly divided decision, the U.S. Supreme Court

Student Athletes Paid
Students who attend college as athletes face the everyday struggles of being a full time athlete and a
full time student. It has been long debated whether or not time restricted athletes should be
compensated for the work they do on the field. Student athletes should be paid for their work as
athletes, but because of NCAA amateurism rules, they are left with a busy training schedule, no athlete
compensation if injury occurs, and no steady income.
Student athletes have highly active training schedules and therefore have no time to get a job and
support themselves with a steady income. While regular students are able to have part time jobs to

However, scholarships can go away at anytime if the athlete is injured or is not eligible to play the

providing the athlete with money and by paying college players, they will have the money to pay for
treatment, hospitalization, rehabilitation and other expenses when it comes to injuries (Green Garage).
In this case they would be able to see professionals about injuries, and this could further their chance
of an easy recovery, so no scholarship has to be revoked. There are many other downsides to athletes
receiving a scholarship but no side income. Lauren Deutsch is a college student who writes news for
her college news site called The Crimson White. She reminds us in a Should College Athletes be Paid

able to work a job therefore not only has no money but no way to pay for school the following year

under any circumstance. That way this will provide them for the hard work they did, but also be there
as an emergency or when their scholarship is gone. Ultimately, athletes have no income and stand on

The consistency of the video was also at question. The film shows decent quality color video inside of

video footage was leaked from NASA by accident. When the video footage was leaked conspiracy
theorist dissected the footage and made a hypothesis of how the footage was produced. NASA says

The moon landing was highly motivated by the space race between the United States, and the Soviet

The Impact of Mental Illnesses and Health Problems from Work Related Stress on Employees in
Office Jobs
Introduction
Year after year a behavioral change began to impact her life; she became irritable, fatigued and gained
almost fifty pounds. She was no longer fun to be around and isolated herself away from everyone. Her
kids would ask if she was okay and knew something was wrong. The work related stress and
harassment she received from her bosses triggered symptoms of depression. The job took place at
Unknown Healthcare where she was an administrative assistant. An office job that paid fairly well,
however, was stressful because of the rigorous demands from the bosses and the abusive behavior in
which they treated her. She was working 9 5 everyday with some days of overtime while being a
single parent with two young kids. She decided it was in her best interest to quit the job and find
something where she would be happier and healthier. However the damage was already done as she
currently, to this day, suffers from chronic depression. After leaving the job she began taking anti
depressants and found a job that she loves. You can see a huge improvement in behavior, as she has
more energy and is enjoyable to be around again. She will be interviewed in a different segment with
regards to the study. Stress in the workplace is a common safety and health issue in the 21st century
and can lead to mental illnesses such as depression if untreated for years. Not only

In both his works of fiction, A Good Man Is Hard To Find and Greenleaf , Flannery O Conner paints a
rather grim picture. The protagonists in both the short stories share several common traits. In the story,
A Good Man Is Hard To Find , the Grandmother, who remains unnamed throughout, is a vile woman,
who is also selfish and a complete hypocrite. Yet, she continues to judge other people for what she

followed by her tragic death. In Greenleaf, the author directs a similar protagonist. The protagonist, an
elderly lady in this one too, is Mrs. May the proprietor of a farm. She is a conceited woman who
believes that her farm is profitable and sustaining only because of her efforts, discarding the efforts
put in by the rest of the family and the farm help. Her rise from penury to the success of her farm

The American mink s scientific name is Neovison vison and is a semiaquatic, carnivorous animal.

economic reasons, but some of the minks escaped into the wild and started breeding. It took them 30
years to establish after they escaped. When the otter s population dropped the minks started to grow in

The Oppression Of Girls
I feel that girls encounter more obstacles and provisions, thus growing up is more difficult for them.
For one, society put a lot of emphasis on how a girl should behave and how she should look like. This
puts so much pressure on girls to conform to what society expects them to be. This often affects a girl
s self image resulting in low self esteem and insecurities.
I also feel that girls have the burden to work harder in various areas (not just in academics) to prove
that they are as capable, and that they can be as successful as the boys. In a gender biased society,
boys are often favored as the torch bearers, and girls feel the need to perform comparatively well to
prove that they are not the weaklings society viewed them to be. The

Earned Income Tax Case Study
For many years low income families have been stigmatized due programs destined to provide welfare.
Most of the families that are in need of economic support undergo a scrutinized agenda, which most of
the time, question by question undresses recipients by stripping their dignity. In my childhood we used
something similar to food stamps. We were a family of 12 members, parents and 10 children. I
remembered my mother crying full of anger and frustration when the government sent a letter saying:
Your case is under revision. Even if revision looked like a positive reason (it could mean an increase
of benefits), this meant checks would be delayed at least for two months... Two studies are present in

The rate of participants is high compared with other income support programs. Federal and State
governments are trying to encourage feedback from recipient programs and involvement of qualified
participants. According to Beecroft (2012), the Virginia s IRS has initiated a campaign to improve
outreach to individuals who can benefit from those services. Same program has been implemented to
reach families located in New York and California. The Virginia government contracted a private
agency to prepare mailing notices and perform phone calls to instruct qualified candidates to use EITC
benefits. This study makes two main contributions to existing research by providing: rigorous
evidence on the impacts of low cost outreach for the EITC, including a simple cost benefit analysis;
and more recent estimates of EITC take up rates for recipients of public assistance, based on accurate
data sources. This study also uses large sample sizes even though they are only for Virginia (a starting
population of close to 500,000 households, including 225,000 EITC eligible households) (Beecroft

Why The US Should Put An End To The Refugee Crisis
Currently there is a refugee crisis . People from different places are fleeing their countries to survive
and escape the violence where they live. The best solution for this crisis would be for the U.S. to
accept refugees (way more than they already do) and help them out. There are many reasons why this
is the best solution. One of the reasons being that we shouldn t commit the same mistakes that we
have made in the past. Besides most people in the U.S already want to help. Refugees aren t even a
problem problem in the U.S.
During world war II, the U.S committed one of the biggest mistakes known in history, but it s not too
late we can learn from it and not commit the same mistake. According to the document titled The

the U.S.. According to the statistics on a table found on the website, Whitehouse.gov, zero syrian
refugees that have resettled in the U.S. have been arrested or removed on terrorism charges. These
statistics obviously show that the refugees that we have let into our country have not even caused one

Family And Love In Begin Again By John Carney
In the director John Carney s film, Begin Again, there are many elements that connect to the theme of
family, love, and most importantly, music. The main concept of the film is ending what happened in
the past and moving forward to a new start or a new beginning. As conflict arises amongst the
characters, they come to a crossroads of whether they should pursue their desired passions and love
interests. The main characters in the film express their love for family and relationship through music.
Music in the film is a way of communication with each other without having to actually come face to
face to discuss it. Music and family come in connection because add something to continue this
thought about family being connected through music. The film doesn t just focus on blood relation, it
also involves the relationship the music industry forms through their passion for music. In particular,
the film depicts broken familial relationships that are later mended through the realization of ones
mistakes.
In the film, Family means that no matter what happened in the past or in the present moment, it is
never too late to forgive and forget. The unconditional love that Dan has for Miriam proves that no
matter who is at fault of a break up, family still comes first. The body language seen in the film amid
the characters reveals their emotions to the audience. Facial expressions of concern, misery, and of
want, are worn by individuals throughout the production. The interactions that

Meno Hidden Virtue Analysis
Hidden Virtues
As we already know from reading other works by Plato, Virtue is not a cut and clean object with a
distinct definition that is more correct than another definition. When Socrates asks, what is virtue? ,
Meno comes up with three definitions. However, none of his replies are true answers, but rather define
parts of what helps to create virtue. Meno s replies are scattered and he is unable to give the reader a
true definition of what virtue is. Meno fails to give a common factor in all definitions of virtue, but
rather gives the reader many different outlooks with nothing connecting each example. In this paper, I
will discuss the exchanges between Meno and Socrates and the attempts made by Meno to describe
virtue as well as Socrates arguments against them.
As stated above, Meno comes up with three attempts at defining virtue. While reading it can be
assumed that virtue is not easily defined. A key element in creating a sound definition is knowing the
nature of an object. If the nature of said object is unknown, there cannot be judgement of any quality
of the object itself. Meno first attempts to describe virtue by giving examples of ... Show more content

Based solely upon what is stated in the dialogue between Meno and Socrates, we see Meno repeatedly
try to define virtue unsuccessfully. He claims to know what virtue is but fails to define it correctly.
Socrates uses counterexample after counterexample to break down Meno s arguments and proves that
Meno lacks the knowledge of a true definition. I believe that Socrates does not do this to dishearten
Meno, but rather to have him reevaluate his knowledge of virtue. After analyzing the story as a whole,
I believe that even if virtue is known innately, there is no way to give a single definition that allows us
to truly teach the concept of

Marketing Strategy
Although the amount of money UK people spending on flower and plant is increasing, only £28 has
been spent on flowers per person per year. It follows that most people are not willing to spend loads of
money on buying flowers. According to the finance situation of Bradford citizens whose incomes are
lower compared to the Britain average one, the core strategy for the shop to follow should be the cost
focus strategy of Porter s Generic Strategies. With reality, the M S in Broadway brings new threats to
the business. The M S s fresh and high quality bouquets may catch our loyalty customers attention.
But as the cost focus strategy provides a greater margin for profit, the price would be much lower
comparing with other stores selling flowers such as Sainsbury s, Tesco and M S. The price advantage
we got could attract more customers. In reaching our expected target market of customers aged of 20
50, we will choose five marketing communication mix methods: Personal selling, Direct marketing,
Merchandising, Sales promotion and Non traditional media.

Revenge In The Tempest
Imagine someone embarrassing you in front an audience, what would you do? Normally in situations
like these, we would try and get back at them to feel what we ve felt.Instead of trying to get back at
them we should be able to forgive and forget because in reality it probably wasn t their
intentions.Forgiving someone is something that helps us in many ways. While some may argue that
vengeance teaches people their lesson, there is more value in forgiveness than vengeance because it
helps you with your well being, correlation, and makes you feel empowering. Some argue that
vengeance educates people on what they shouldn t do. In the play The Tempest written by William

Reflection About Technology
How do you relate to technology? You might have been asked this question before, but even if you
haven t this is a question that everyone could answer; there just might be different ways to answer. For
me, when people ask how I relate to technology my mind cannot help but go to my iPhone and all the
apps that I scroll through all the time, and yes, even when I am in the restroom. (we have all done this
before). My favorite part about my cell phone and the applications that I am offered is the question
itself; they allow me to relate a technology that everyone has some knowledge about to something that
I am passionate about, the gospel. There are many apps on my cell phone that I enjoy, but only a few
can keep me so entertained that I can hardly put my phone down to go to sleep at night. Usually, when
I am bored, I quickly scroll through my phone to see an application that is going to satisfy me for the
next 20 minutes of my life. Until, I get bored of that as well, but when it comes to the applications that
are teaching me about God, I become deeply Intrigued and encouraged by what I am reminded. It s
like a buffet, I start at the salad line and keep walking hoping there is something else that is better, and
when I get to the dessert boy am I the happiest girl in the world!
We have all made a phone call at one point our lives, and if you haven t, you probably know someone
who has. Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced FaceTime on June 7, 2010, in conjunction with the iPhone

Netflix Case Study
The Big Red Monster vs. The Theatres The arrival of Netflix and other streaming services have had an
enormous impact on the Television and Movie industries. With these changes that have happened
comes drastic opinions on economic utility. Economic utility is the amount of satisfactory a customer
is granted from a product or service. On one hand you have the customer that would rather stay home
and watch a movie on Netflix. On the other hand you have a customer that would go to the theatre to
watch the newest movies. These are the movies that people on netflix can t experience yet. In this
project I am going to discuss the impact that Netflix has had on the movie and television industries.
There are four different variables of economic utility that have evolved with the arrival of Netflix.
These include product form, time, place, and product possession. First off, I m going to talk about the
impact the movie industry had on economy before the arrival of Netflix. Before Netflix, movie
theatres had different competitors. Some of these include sporting events, restaurants, and clubs.
People would have to decide what they wanted to do during their free time. One of the economic
utilities that was very different before Netflix was place. Unless people were using the internet to
watch videos they would have to go to the theatres or rent a movie to take home. They were not able
to just pull up the Netflix app and start watching a movie. Before there were few options for actually

Supernatural Elements Of The Supernatural
Transformation scares readers by possibly using some of the following: the supernatural, the unknown
and death. People may be scared of clowns or the dark. A scene can be bright and happy then go to
something dark and scary. This relates to the topic because someone can go from alive to dead, which
could be a supernatural element. Also because change will create fear for the reader. Here s a quote
that may give an easier understanding She remembered who she was and the game changed. (Lalah
Deliah). This can be used to relate because someone will be scared, but then it will kick in that it s not
real. A form of transformation is the element of the supernatural. Ghosts for example. We read the
story House Taken Over it states in the story The sound came through muted and indistinct, a chair
being knocked over onto the carpet or the muffled buzzing conversation. (Cotazar pg39). This shows
how a character may have been doing something then suddenly here s something then or scared or
startled. Another example would be possession. In the movie The Exorcist made in 1973 A girl was
possessed. During the movie it says I have dreams of a rose and falling down a long flight of steps
(William the exorcist ). Thinking of roses then suddenly falling down a flight of stairs? The shows a
different type of fear. Lastly moving objects. In the movie Paranormal Activity a lot of this happens.
Something goes from one side of the room to the other. You re unsure why or how this kind of thing
could happen. That isn t something you see on a daily basis so it causes you to be scared.
Another way transformation can be shown in the story is by the unknown. In the story Where is There
a stranger is outside, and the family is unsure why. It says here So in the chill, damp, dampening dusk
the stranger wandered around the property while the mother set the dining room table and the father
appeared covertly out the window (Oates pg69). Being unsure of what a strangers doing at your house
makes you nervous and fearful he will do something to your family. There is then dreams. Have you
ever had a bad dream? Waking up in the middle of the night when you re young. Even getting a dream
catcher because you think it ll help stop bad

Social Networking Disadvantages
Social networking Social networking can be a fantastic source to set up cold calls. And, pending how
your networking conversation goes the call may not be as cold as the rest. Social network usually does
not get into direct sales. I have only seen one instance where three people moved to a secluded table
and started filling out a purchase order. Most contacts share information and set up future
communications. The main advantage of social networking and cold calls are that you have names of
contacts. They also have a good idea of your magic. In some instances, they have already mentioned
an interest in more information (see following note). You should already have an idea of the
organization and their activities. You will make specific notes on upcoming events they might
mention. NOTE: In the social networking environment I view everyone s time equally. Social
networking is used to make contacts. A little qualification conversation takes place that is needed to
set up future communications. When those goals are met the people move onto more contacts. The
entire event is used to make friends, generate leads and get your name out to as many people as you
can. It is not a good idea to attempt to go into your pitch there. If you do, you are taking away other
networking potentials both for you and the person you are speaking with. If I am asked, I politely
mention that I have two others I need to speak with and get permission to contact them later. If the

Professors Bergland s main point about the 1880 1920 s was the fascination and exploration with
nature and death. In the poems that Professor Bergland showed us, Emily Dickson wrote about nature
and her thoughts on how nature affected the world and science. My understand of the period from
1880 to1920 was that education was not mandatory for females. When females attended college, they
were taught science and math because it did not have a role in society. Males on the other hand
learned literature and politics because they would go on to graduate and have an active and high role
in society. At the college Dickson attended, Mount Holyoke, religion was heavily stressed. Not many
females finished college, majority dropped out before entering

British Colonialism And British Imperialism
The empire on which the sun never sets is name familiar to all, this was the name given to the British
Empire in 1921 after a period of rapid growth and ceaseless land acquisition. With such a wide range
of power, one would think that imperialism was seen as beneficial to all involved, with the exception
of the natives whose land was slowly being destroyed. A common theme in literature around this time
was the condemnation of british imperialism. Some writers wrapped up their opinions in neat yet
artistic lines, simply hinting at their disapproval while others went out of their way to make their voice
heard and their opinion crystal clear. This style of writing, no matter how the author went about it, was
known as postcolonialism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Orwell doesn t bother with winding metaphors or flowery imagery to disguise his view on
imperialism, a little more than a paragraph into Shooting an Elephant the reader is presented with
Orwell s opinion, presented in a way that leaves little room for multiple interpretations. I had already
made up my mind that imperialism was an evil thing and the sooner I chucked up my job and got out
of it the better (Orwell) The bold diction used is important because while the words evil and chucked
up very clearly state Orwell s dislike of the very cause he served, these also reveal just how strongly
he felt. Writers tend to avoid the word evil as it runs the risk of coming off as over dramatic and thus
loses its significance. Orwell simply hates British Imperialism which is a strong feeling because to
simply hate something is to hate it wholeheartedly. Orwell almost feels as if the topic is worth little
time, so he describes it exactly as he views it evil. Both Orwell and Conrad also employ the use of
syntax to get across their subtler points on British Imperialism, using rhythm to set the mood for the
reader. The first thing one might notice in Orwell s essay is the switch from long sentences explaining
his

The Pros And Cons Of Football
What is football? Football is a sport where you can shine and show your potential talent. For most
people football is not just a game; it is more than that, it is a job as much as it is a lifestyle. For most
athletes, when you step out onto the field you forget what is really going on in your life. However, for
a professional quarterback, you cannot just forget about the world and play the sport. The quarterback
has many responsibilities since they are the most valuable player on the field, so they cannot lose their
mind in the chaos of the game. Being a quarterback is already a hard role, which is why there are
limited amount of great quarterbacks in the National Football League. There are many great
quarterbacks in the spotlight, which is why they get all the blame for the wrongdoing. However, out of
all the quarterbacks in the National Football League, the real question is which can prove himself to
be the best player, Peyton Manning or Tom Brady?
Peyton Manning is 6 5 and 230 pounds at the age of 39 and has 18 seasons as a quarterback in the
Nation Football League( Peyton Manning Biography para.1). He has broken all kinds of National
Football League records. Tom Brady is 6 4 and 225 pounds at the age of 38 and has 16 seasons as a
quarterback in the National Football League(Tom Brady Body Measurement Height Weight Shoe Size

In the western world the terms president, and prime minister means, for lack of a better term, the head

Back in the Eastern world of Western Europe, France was the first major European country to adopt a
semi presidential system giving them both a prime minister and a president to oversee it all (Allen et
al. 109). This is accomplished by giving the president the power of political figure head for the
country and allowing the Prime Minister and the government to ...determine and direct the policy of

The Definitions Of Malpractice And Malpractice

discussing compensatory negligence. Liability issues Parties involved and who should be sued
Defenses of the parties Documents used by the Plaintiff s side will ask for and how they will be used
Standards of care Duty, breach, damages, and proximate cause Insurance issues Risk management

adverse events are caused by malpractice. Despite what may be a common societal belief, not all

provider. The law identifies that much of nursing care requires clinical judgment. Therefore, a patient

  • 2. Sustainability and Business Need to Come Together Sustainability and business are not always looked as a good functioning pair. Businesses often struggle to implement sustainability measures, as they think that it is costing money to shareholders/investors. However, due to increasing pressure from the public, businesses are being forced to reconsidering at adopting sustainability and good business practice. In today s interconnected global economy, the long term goals and success of business are inevitably connected by embedding the environmental, social and governance issues into corporate management, operations and supply chain. While corporate sustainability recognizes that, though the corporate growth and profitability are vital, it also requires the corporation to pursue societal goals, particularly those relating to sustainable development like; safeguarding environmental, social equality and economic development. (Wilson, 2003) Corporate sustainability can also be named as a new and evolving corporate management paradigm. The term paradigm is used extensively, where the corporate sustainability is an alternative to the traditional growth and profit maximization model. Sustainability is good for businesses both as a long term strategy to improve employee trust, and as a short term abide to government legislation. Businesses with sustainability practices are also more attractive to the ethical investors, and recover the costs of managing sustainability through government grants and from increased sales. • 3. Personal Finance Lessons Learned While taking the personal finance course this past spring, I learned many valuable lessons that will greatly assist me throughout my life. One lesson I learned is the importance of paying yourself first. To put this into action, I will save money in an emergency fund to have enough money to live comfortably for 3 to 6 months, in case of emergency. Furthermore, this course has taught me the importance of budgeting. Using budgeting, I will make a plan for my money, so I can avoid over drafting and bouncing checks. Another lesson personal finance taught me is to pay all bills and loans on time to develop a good FICO credit score, which is what companies use to evaluate the risk of loaning to an individual. Knowing this information will help me ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By using a CD instead of a savings account, I will be able to make more money off of the award due to CDs having higher interest rates since the money cannot be withdrawn until the end of the term. This would not be problematic for me because if I were to receive the award, I would use the money for college expenses to invest in my human capital, so I would not need it for two years. Going to college will give me a financial advantage in the long run because according to what I learned in personal finance, people with degrees tend to have higher paying jobs. Additionally, with this award and scholarships, I might get through college debt free. This too would be extremely beneficial to my financial situation throughout life because I would not have to worry about paying off student loans and could instead invest in stocks or in my retirement funds. Furthermore, I love volunteering and giving back to my community, so I also want to invest in nonprofit organizations to help others find their way in life and allow them the opportunity to go to college, get a well paying job, and hopefully continue the cycle of giving back. Therefore, the money from this award would benefit me for the rest of my life along with the community I will invest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Of Nervous Conditions By Chinua Achebe s Nervous Conditions THE AUTHENTICITY OF AFRICAN STORIES Africa has been viewed as the antithesis of Europe. It has been undermined as some may say it is underdeveloped. It has been portrayed as the exact opposite of civilised Europe as it is viewed as uncivilised. Africans have been eliminated as a human factor and seen as animals. In this essay I will outline how African literature have been able to reclaim African stories through their authenticity. I will use the novel Nervous Conditions by Tsitsi Dangarembga and two short stories A Private Experience by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and The Prophetess by Njabulo Ndebele to show how Africa has been successfully reclaimed from the stereotypical view of Europeans drawing as a basis for further development from Chinua Achebe s article, An Image of Africa. I will first analyse the novel Nervous Conditions under the theme of gender and patriarchal oppression. The short story A Private Experience will focus on class divisions whilst The Prophetess will focus on beliefs. According to Chinua Achebe, Joseph Conrad in his novella, Heart of Darkness represents Africa in an opposite way to what Africa really is. He says Conrad depicts Africa as different and unknowable in contrast to Europe. He views it as the exact opposite of Europe. Africa is viewed as uncivilised. Joseph Conrad s novella eliminates Africans as a human factor and represents Africa as a blank stage where Europeans enter an implicitly dangerous zone which functions as a plot ... • 6. Decline in Water Supply in India Introduction The available water in India has declined drastically over the past several decades due to the rise in demand for water sources across almost every industry. This shortage has greatly affected all activity in India, including the agricultural industry and the available drinking water for domestic life. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, or the FOA, believes that India will literally run out of water if certain steps are not taken to replenish India s aquifers. To fully grasp the matter, an explanation of the problem is below. The main cause for concern is that India s flourishing agricultural industry uses the 91% of water throughout the country leaving aquifers at lower levels every year. ... This type of depletion has experts exhausting resources to halt the progression of groundwater extraction and to move to better innovations of irrigation enforcement. Lack of Social Economic Stability from Overuse The overuse of water has raised concerns across India and in some cases farmers have taken their lives from the poverty caused by the lack of necessary water for their crops to prosper. (http://www.sigmaxi.org/programs/issues/Tancig_Jawitz.pdf) Fluorosis Epidemic in India Fluoride is a geologic material that lies underneath most of India. As water tables decrease, farmers are forced to drill deeper into aquifers to unsafe zones containing dangerous levels of fluoride. In India, the Fluorosis and Rural Development Foundation have estimated that over 60 million people suffer from diseases caused by the overexposure of fluoride in drinking water from underground aquifers. Split in Surface Groundwater Hydrologic Connections With the continued overuse of aquifers, sigmaxi.com states that In the Maheshwaram watershed of Andhra Pradesh chronic depletion of groundwater has lowered the water table 15 m below the ground surface . • 7. A Critical Analysis Of Edinburgh Fringe Festival My aim is to conduct a critical analysis on the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, an annual event with the purpose of providing a platform for unjuried theatrical performances. This event is an established one and has been held in Edinburgh every August since 1947, when eight theatre groups turned up uninvited at the Edinburgh International Festival and decided to perform their shows at the fringe of the festival. (Edinburgh Festival Fringe, [Accessed: 23/05/2016])The Fringe began to grow every year as more and more performers turned up and performed their own fringe shows. In 1985, the Festival Fringe Society was created as a facility to formalise these performances and create a central box office. The society decided to draft a constitution that ensured that whilst they governed the logistics of the event, they still operated within the ethos of the founding members of the fringe. Therefore the society maintains a policy that they have no part in vetting the performances for the festival. (Edinburgh Festival Fringe, et al.)This means that anyone with a creative act can perform over the three weeks in which the festival takes place. So, the Fringe Festival has come to be known for hosting thousands of shows across hundreds of venues catering for a variety of tastes and interests. The Fringe has succeeded in creating an outlet for many people who wouldn t have had the opportunity to otherwise perform in front of thousands of accredited journalists, art industry professionals in ... The Imagery Tone of a Play: The Use of Literary Devices Imagery Tone in Krapp s Last Tape In the play Krapp s Last Tape, there is one protagonist who is described as sitting at a small table, listening to tapes. Krapp is an impaired and broken down elderly man who spends his time listening to his younger voice on tapes. He is egotistical and subjective towards his younger self and critiques the way he acted in a certain place or time. He is lonely, but okay with it as he would rather focus on things that he has already experienced, rather then engage in new ones. He is essentially stuck in the past. The essay written below disputes the literary devices of imagery and tone in order to provide background and symbolism in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Imagery plays a big part in describing the character s appearance and actions in order to show what a character is like and how they respond to differing situations. It can also shape the story and reveal to the reader the background of a person, place, or thing. In Krapp s Last Tape, the only character is given much detail and description in order to start the play at a point where the reader already knows some information about this elderly man. The literary convention of imagery provides insight into the character that will lead the play. Krapp, the main protagonist in Krapp s Last Tape is given a good amount of description, leading into the beginning of dialogue. His raggedy grey hair, disheveled clothes, and death ridden face give the reader an image of a character that has lived through many years. It is as if he has given up on life and is preparing for what is to come. The fact that he is also hard of hearing and has a cracked voice, seems to have intensified the distaste towards his character. Krapp s descriptive appearance helps to foreshadow his cynical and confined personality. Krapp also remains motionless for most of the play. The only actions that do take place are of him eating a banana in the very beginning and the loading of the three tapes that Krapp focuses on in the dialogue. This imagery of him loading the tapes and sitting at his table depicts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Market management is to 3 choose a target market, then keeping the customer and making more customers by sending them product they want. The product of tourism and hospitality industry is different from other product. It is called service product. The characteristics of the service product determine that the marketing for tourism will face more difficulties than others. Intangibility is the first feature of the service product. It means that the product can not be seen, assessed and showed before buying it. To attract customer, the marketer could print brochures, make videos, broadcast advertisement to make the product more concrete. Perishability is the second feature. It means that the product in tourism such as accommodation can not be stored like other items. The product needs to be sold as soon as possible because it can not be used for future sale. Therefore, marketers devise pricing policy to promote the product. For example, in peak season, the hotel increase room charge to gain more profit, while in off season, discount should be offered to attract more customers. • 11. Homelessness Under The Mckinney Vento Homelessness... Homelessness is one of the oldest problems that exist, fast forward almost 40 years since it s been recognized as one and still there has been no avail to finding a real solution. The definition of homelessness under the McKinney Vento Homelessness Assistance Act is defined as an individual: who lacks a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence; and a person who has a nighttime residence that is supervised publicly or privately operated shelter, and c) an institution that provides a temporary residence for individuals intended to be institutionalized, or a private or public place not designed for, a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings. Homelessness is basically another form of poverty except more extreme, yet society treats it as if it was on another spectrum of problems. Some in society stigmatize this population by saying things like: they re homeless because they are drug addicts, alcoholics, they don t want to work and just live off the government for free. What many forget to think about are the factors that have these people on the street, or the fact that they are not only experiencing personal hardship by being without a permanent residence but emotional ones as well. Add the fact they are sometimes discriminated against and excluded by society, and you will realize you are looking at one of the most vulnerable populations. This homelessness population consists of people from all age groups: infants, children, adolescents, adulthood, and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Is it illegal for graduate schools to refuse admittance to their program in preference of a different race that meet the same qualifications? Our state and federal legislatures, executive bodies, and our courts have been involved in many aspects of testing assessment. Courts have been grappling with the role of diversity in criteria for admission to colleges, universities, and professional schools (Cohen, 2013). In the case of Grutter v. The Impact of Mental Illnesses and Health Problems from Work Related Stress on Employees in Office Jobs Introduction Year after year a behavioral change began to impact her life; she became irritable, fatigued and gained almost fifty pounds. She was no longer fun to be around and isolated herself away from everyone. Her kids would ask if she was okay and knew something was wrong. The work related stress and harassment she received from her bosses triggered symptoms of depression. The job took place at Unknown Healthcare where she was an administrative assistant. An office job that paid fairly well, however, was stressful because of the rigorous demands from the bosses and the abusive behavior in which they treated her. She was working 9 5 everyday with some days of overtime while being a single parent with two young kids. She decided it was in her best interest to quit the job and find something where she would be happier and healthier. However the damage was already done as she currently, to this day, suffers from chronic depression. After leaving the job she began taking anti depressants and found a job that she loves. You can see a huge improvement in behavior, as she has more energy and is enjoyable to be around again. She will be interviewed in a different segment with regards to the study. Meno s replies are scattered and he is unable to give the reader a true definition of what virtue is. Meno fails to give a common factor in all definitions of virtue, but rather gives the reader many different outlooks with nothing connecting each example. In this paper, I will discuss the exchanges between Meno and Socrates and the attempts made by Meno to describe virtue as well as Socrates arguments against them. As stated above, Meno comes up with three attempts at defining virtue. While reading it can be assumed that virtue is not easily defined. • 30. Supernatural Elements Of The Supernatural Transformation scares readers by possibly using some of the following: the supernatural, the unknown and death. People may be scared of clowns or the dark. A scene can be bright and happy then go to something dark and scary. This relates to the topic because someone can go from alive to dead, which could be a supernatural element. Also because change will create fear for the reader. Here s a quote that may give an easier understanding She remembered who she was and the game changed. (Lalah Deliah). This can be used to relate because someone will be scared, but then it will kick in that it s not real. A form of transformation is the element of the supernatural. Ghosts for example. We read the story House Taken Over it states in the story The sound came through muted and indistinct, a chair being knocked over onto the carpet or the muffled buzzing conversation. (Cotazar pg39). This shows how a character may have been doing something then suddenly here s something then or scared or startled. Another example would be possession. In the movie The Exorcist made in 1973 A girl was possessed. During the movie it says I have dreams of a rose and falling down a long flight of steps (William the exorcist ). Thinking of roses then suddenly falling down a flight of stairs? The shows a different type of fear. Lastly moving objects. In the movie Paranormal Activity a lot of this happens. Something goes from one side of the room to the other. You re unsure why or how this kind of thing could happen. That isn t something you see on a daily basis so it causes you to be scared. Another way transformation can be shown in the story is by the unknown. In the story Where is There a stranger is outside, and the family is unsure why. It says here So in the chill, damp, dampening dusk the stranger wandered around the property while the mother set the dining room table and the father appeared covertly out the window (Oates pg69). Being unsure of what a strangers doing at your house makes you nervous and fearful he will do something to your family. There is then dreams. Have you ever had a bad dream? Writers tend to avoid the word evil as it runs the risk of coming off as over dramatic and thus loses its significance. Orwell simply hates British Imperialism which is a strong feeling because to simply hate something is to hate it wholeheartedly. Both Orwell and Conrad also employ the use of syntax to get across their subtler points on British Imperialism, using rhythm to set the mood for the reader. The first thing one might notice in Orwell s essay is the switch from long sentences explaining his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
