Marine Science Application Essay
Re: Application for Staff Scientist Position in Marine Science Dear Dr. Torchin, I am very excited
about the possibility of joining at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI)) in the position
of Staff Scientist in Marine Science, as advertised in Naturejobs. My research interests fit extremely
well with the requirements of this post and with existing staff scientists associated with the STRI. I
have extensive research experience in the interdisciplinary field of Marine Sciences (including
biological diversity, environmental chemistry, physical sciences, climate change) with diverse
institutions globally (Japan, Germany, Hong Kong, Canada, South Korea, Monaco) funded by
competitive fellowships and external research ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I discovered 11 new proteins which are decisive factors in the biological formation of invertebrates.
The functions of proteins allowed us to understand how a huge number of invertebrates interact with
the environment and how they respond to global climate change. Because of my discovery and
outstanding achievements in the doctoral and postdoctoral programs, I received President Award from
the University of the Ryukyus and many awards from international scientific forums. Using these
emerging environmental innovative approaches, I performed whole proteomics analyses in calcifying
marine invertebrates and discovered how and which extracellular proteins (e.g., ECMP 67) are
responsible for making calcite mineral in their skeletons and subsequently explored how some
invertebrates (e.g. octocorals) defy their environments (see http://www.asbmb.org/news.aspx?
id=14312 ; http://www.en.uni muenchen.de/news/newsarchiv/2011/2011_rahman_corals.html ).
Throughout my doctoral and post doctoral research programs following the environmental proteomics
approach, I identified key functional new proteins (including Ca2+ binding and glycosylation
proteins), genes and enzyme which are involved in the biological process of the chemical formation of
calcium carbonate skeleton in corals. These findings are very important for understanding the
biodiversity of ecosystems, calcification process, chemistry of the oceans, and environmental change
signals. Using

Nest Dragon Research Paper
Least Dragon s Behavioral Patterns
Least Dragon is one of the most fascinating species in Thrag Island, the small dragon which has a gray
green coloration with frills that turn red when extended, and is one of the few non fire breathing
species. Its displays of behavior such as ritualized aggression, and reproductive courtship and also the
defense mechanisms that this species uses makes this species s survival one of the most fascinating in
the island.
For starters, territoriality plays an important role in the dragon reproductive behavior as the male
dragons react to the approach or the song of another male, as a potential rivalry, which then starts a
display of ritualized aggression between them, as they continued to make rough cheech noises while
displaying their blood red frills (which is an example of sexual dimorphism as ... Show more content

If there is a predator close to the dragon, the reptile will camouflage itself with the surrounding leaves
and mosses of the area or will try to hide in its nest as its coloration provides an advantage against
most predators, especially flying ones such as eagles.
Likewise, draconologists have been trying to explain the reason behind why this dragon species do not
breathe fire, the most accepted explanation is that the dragon short size will not produce a large flame
similar to its relatives (Westerosi dragons), which will not be enough protection against predators, and
also if used for reproductive purposes the flame would likely provide the location of the male, as it
would contrast with the greenish background of the forest and will leave a scent that could be tracked
easier than the different pitch

Theme Of Fate In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold
The novella, chronicle of a Death Foretold ,raises the question of (whether fate controls our lives more
than we think). Fate is an important theme in this novel because it can not be changed. Marquez
believes that even if you know your fate, you can not change the outcome. Marquez shows that people
cannot alter their fate through the plight of the characters Santiago Nasar, Angela Vicario and the twin
brothers. Foremost, Marquez starts the first line of the book on the day they were going to kill him,
Santiago Nasar got up at five thirty in the morning to wait for the boat the bishop was coming on
(Marquez 3) to illustrate our fate is decided before we are born. Marquez lets the reader know that
Santiago Nasar was going to die but the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and she only talk to other women and had distrust of men and their intentions No one would have
thought, or did anyone say, Angela Vicario wasn t a virgin . (37). Angale was destine to not have
Bayardo as her husband until Santiago Nasar died because he was fated to be killed by the Victoire
twins and the only that could have happened if something important was at stake and at this time
virginty was very important to abtain honor in the society. The fact of the matter is she did not chose
to be not a virgine but fate was planned which is beyond her control. In addition, when the twins
demand the name of her lover or the man who took her virginity She looked for it in the shadows, she
found it at first sight among the many... (47). This quote illustrate that she did not gave much thought
to who took her virginty but said what came to her mind which fate is responsible. Basically Marquez
wants the reader to make the connection that fate uses people or absurdity to achieve it s purpose.
Likewise, Angela had the option to fake her virginity but refuses to do it They taught her old wives

In A House Besieged By Lydia Davos
In the short story In A House Besieged by Lydia Davos, the entire story serves as a metaphor for the
fact that our language is not as complex and detailed our thoughts and emotions are, as well as how
terrifying that can really be. As is with this short story, although two people may hear, see, or feel
similar things, they may express them differently and both feel misunderstood and lonely. The woman
in the story tries to express her fear and confusion in terms of classical literature, such as the wind and
the rain . On the other hand, the man uses words that are much less poetic and that all include forceful
terms, such as hunters or armies . Perhaps the man in the story saw that the word besieged included
armies, attackers, hunters,

Analysis Of New Investment Plans Of An Existing Company
Global business environment is a world renowned subject in today s era and is being practised by
almost all major companies in the world. Understanding of business in a bigger perspective and
analysing the perplex situations of todays dynamic world are its key issues. The two new skills, which
were identified for the first time during the class, were: 1) Critical analysis of new investment plans of
an existing company. 2) Practising Cause and effect strategy through varied research and study.
Explanation: 1) Critical analysis of new investment plans of an existing company was not only a new
experience but also provided a detailed picture on how things work in today s global business world.
The analysis was dependent upon studies and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The above mentioned approaches helped in building a firm base and helped in identifying the key
tools used in the global business environment. The practise enabled us to realize the investment goal
research that was deployed to us. One of the key findings was that in order to understand the
complexity of today s business world, one has to have an approach covering all the aspects of business
and corporate world so as to have a correct finding and conclusion. Identifying aspects in an altered
fashion promotes growth and consistency in the business world. Investment decisions are perplexed.
However, developing insights into an overall concept that helps us in understanding the internal and
external environmental issues can build our concrete and practical judgements. 2) Cause and Effect is
a tool in order to monitor and analyse the major reasons of why things happened. Therefore
subsequently we can use this tool to alter these effects in a way that can create a difference not only
for the organization but also the business culture. Analysis of causes helps an organization set up
regulations to work in a disparate fashion rather than following the same old methods. Analysing
causes further helps in realisation of goals by moving forward and making the required changes in the
planning and output process. Individuals behaviours and motivations mainly come from their

Canada Is An Example Of A Mixed Economy
Canada is an example of a mixed economy. A mixed economy sits between the planned and market
economy on the economic continuum. It is usually considered the best type of economy since it
distributes control equally between individuals and the government. Unlike planned economies in
which the government is given primary control over certain aspects of life, the mixed economy gives
the government less control and regulation. This allows sellers and private markets to be able to
expand and grow their business without any interruptions. Of course, the government has to step in
once in a while to ensure that there is no illegal activity going on and that work environments are
being kept safe, but for the most part, the owner has the right to be

Examples Of Binary Opposition In The Hunger Games
Binary opposition is not only a vital concept in linguistics, but it also plays a significant role in the
fields of anthropology, sociology, literature and art as it is believed that things only mean something in
relation to one another, like the ever existing concept of good and evil. They serve as labels to
identifying certain ideas but what makes them opposites is that fact that they cannot coexist and this
creates boundaries between groups, leading to discrimination, inequality and injustice. This is very
much present in The Hunger Games in which two opposite groups are created based on the same idea
of presence and absence (of power) and the weaker group fears the stronger and ends up obeying
whatever the dominant has to say. This not only creates prejudices, bias and disparity between groups
but also leads to the us and them distinction, where the dominant ... Show more content on

As mentioned in the very first chapter of this study, the type of control that the Capitol has is
technological in nature. From the very beginning of the story, we are told that it is not safe to talk
against the Capitol as they have eyes and ears everywhere. Katniss Everdeen, the narrator, mentions it
that she goes to hunt in the forest to keep her family from dying and even in the middle of nowhere
(Quote 18, line 3), she worries somebody might overhear her (Quote 18, line 4). For this reason, she
explains that she learned (Quote 18, line 7) not to talk about the Capitol in public and avoid tricky
topics such as the reaping, or food shortages or the Hunger Games (Quote 18, line 11 12). She is so
cautious that she tries to turn her features into an indifferent mask so that no one could ever read her
thoughts (Quote 18, line 8). From this example, we can understand how malicious the nature of
Capitol s control

Check The Roof Research Paper
Buying a Home in Calgary, Alberta? Remember to Check the Roof!
Your Roofing Contractor in Calgary Tells You How
When you are shopping for a home, there are so many factors to consider. One detail you should not
overlook is the roof. This is a major feature of any house, and it must be given proper attention before
and after your purchase. If you have found a property that you love, but the roof is not in good shape,
you may well be able to convince the seller to lower the asking price. Alternatively, you might not
wish to purchase a place that will likely require a replacement in a year or two.
You may be able to catch some issues simply by looking at the structure. However, we recommend a
professional inspection before you agree to buy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The following are some of the primary issues to look for and questions to ask when scrutinizing the
roof of a home for sale:
Shingles: Take a good look at the shingles. Are they curling or buckling? If so, an entire replacement
could be imminent. Shingles that are losing granules might be nearing the end of their lifespan. If
there are shingles missing in places, this means that either repairing or replacing the roof will be
necessary.
Daylight: When you are in the attic or elsewhere indoors, can you detect daylight though the boards?
This could indicate that the structure has been weakened due to moisture damage.
Moss and Mold: If you can see moss, lichens, or mold, this is a sign that decay may be taking place.
Such organisms thrive in damp environments, which is not what you want your roof to be.
Gutters: You may already have checked the shingles for evidence of missing granules, but be sure to
look in the gutters. The missing granules are likely to follow the force of gravity and accumulate in the
gutters. If you see them there, you may need to consider a roof replacement after you buy the

Conclusion
In this study, a polymer inclusion membrane was prepared and succevally applied for the removal of
citric acid from synthetic wastewater. The mixture of CTA and CA was found to be the optimum base
polymer for quantitative transport of citric acid. Moreover, the nature of carrier especially alkyl chain
length, stirring rate, and pH of feed phase are also important factors affecting the increased rate of
citric acid transport. Hence, from results obtained it can be seen that the investigated
calix[4]resorcinarene are effective extractants for citric acid and that their extraction abilities depend
on the alkyl chain length of the substituent in the macrocycle. Choosing the appropriate length of alkyl
chain, very selective system can be designed. The excellent efficiency for the citric acid transport by
the proposed PIM system reveals its potential application for the selective removal, concentration and
purification of citric acid from different media.

Comparing The Cities Of New Zealand And New York
The city has never stopped its pace of development since new technologies bought the city a new lease
of life. As a reason, it created many opportunities associated with transport, infrastructure,
manufacturing that influence people s lifestyle in terms of urban form and population. The purpose of
this paper is to compare the consequences of similarities and differences from Auckland (New
Zealand) and New York (America). Although, these two cities indicates two different urban form.
There are similarities at the same time and they shows the general trend of the spread of cities.
The industrial revolution happened between 1760 and 1830 that significantly changed the way of
production and how people live. It began in England and spread to America in the 1800 s (Bellotto,
2008). Since then, the improvement of machinery speed up the expansion of New York. For one thing,
it bought new technology that has improved transportation in many aspect. Such as canal, roads,
waterways, rail roads. New York has one of the oldest subway in the world and metro system. The
first subway and underground transit system in New York was opened in 1870. Since then, the
underground transportation gradually developed and ramified all over the city. In the 1880, with road
construction and innovations from new technology, Workers were able travel around conveniently by
cars, subway, and railway. As a metropolitan area, New York became an ideal place for employment.

Monotheistic Religion In The Paleolithic And Neolithic Period
Paleolithic: The Paleolithic period lasted from about 200,000 b.c. to about 10,000 b.c. It was the early
phase of the Stone Age; and encompassed a steady development of stone tools, antler and bone
artifacts, engraving on bone and stone, and paintings on the walls of caves and rock structures. There
was not much structure built or agriculture done in this period as the people lived a nomadic lifestyle,
migrating with the herds of animals they hunted for food.
Neolithic: The Neolithic period lasted from about 9000 b.c. to about 8000 b.c. It was the last phase of
the Stone Age; and encompassed the domestication of animals, the development of agriculture, and
the manufacturing of pottery and textiles. During this period people were beginning to settle and
develop a more sedentary way of life. With this type of life style came territorial issues, meaning that
because of the idea of settling and claiming land people would be more likely to protect it or fight for
it.
Monotheism: The basic definition of monotheism is the belief in one God. The opposite of
polytheism, which is the belief in many Gods, who each serve a different purpose. However, for a
monotheistic religion, the God is all knowing, all seeing and all powerful; this God would be the sole
creator and provider. There are three major religions associated with monotheism, Judaism,
Christianity and Islam.

Through the text we have in infer a lot and there were many clues in the story that helped us infer that
this story was about divorce. We have to infer the conflict and what the character are like. They must
be not getting along at this point in life because she is doing something behind his back and the mom
thinks he has also done things behind her back. The same things go with the dialog. Although there is
not much dialog in the story, when there is, it is really meaningful and it serves a good purpose in the
story and it helps advance the plot. If there was no dialog the story would not have ended up the way it
did. For example, He laughs. Momma, you forgot me already! I think if the little boy would never had

The Human Body System Is Not Immune For Pathological...
Our body system is not immune to pathological deficiencies. There exist numerous identified
pathologies which compromise the regular functioning of a heart, but all heart related pathologies are
narrowed to a single condition known as Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS). This is the term formally
used in reference to the different identified clinical entities threatening the cardiovascular system. ACS
is the result of the progressive or complete sudden blocking of the arteries or veins; this prevents an
appropriate blood flow through the circulatory system, and as a consequence, the body is unable to

In a hospital setting, anticoagulants and antiplatelets are widely prescribed by physicians because of
their greater benefits in changing the physiological homeostasis of the cardiovascular system.
Anticoagulants and antiplatelets play a fundamental role in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases as
they are very effective at counteracting the different symptoms cardiovascular diseases present.
Today, suggested treatments depend on patients health and type of ACS condition. Such treatments
range from invasive surgery for high risk patients to prescribed medications for low risk patients. The
medications vary in function and purpose. For example, thrombosis is the fast forming of an abnormal
blood clot in an artery or vein. Therefore, it must be treated with a fast acting anticoagulant which
could be Heparin or Fondaparinux (Hyers, 2005). Atrial fibrillation is an abnormal heartbeat and is
frequently treated with another type of anticoagulant, Warfarin. Finally, unstable angina is a chest
discomfort caused by the lack of blood flow through the heart and in most cases is treated with the
most common antiplatelet medication, Aspirin.
Anticoagulants are given to prevent blood from clotting or prevent an existing clot from more

creativity within the creative industries
This essay will discuss about the creativity within the creative industries and creative economy .
Creativity is the new word and the new value in economy. A class of creative people is replacing white
and blue collars changing the way the world used to define the society in the last centuries. Creative
industries can flourish in dense populated areas where are possible multiple and continued connections
between creative people. Although governments are trying to introduce the teaching of creativity in
the educational system to foster the growth of the creative economy, creativity is sometimes
suppressed due to the high risk of the investments that creative industries requires.
According to Teresa Amabile, the main definition of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More deeply, the whole idea of creative industries describes the convergence of the creative arts
(represented by the individual talent) with the cultural industries (represented by mass scale), linking
them in the new context of the media technologies. Moreover in the creative industries the individual
creative worker is simultaneously involved with large creative enterprises. Often these corporates are
also a mix of public and private partnership. Indeed government agencies and universities are involved
in the growth of some of the biggest creative clusters, such as the Silicon Valley and the creative
industries of London.
According to Howkins and Florida, creative industries can flourish in dense populated areas, like big
cities, where people are free to share ideas. Howkins takes Hollywood as an early example of a
creative city, where, in the late 1920s, people from all over the world moved to take part to the growth
of this media giant. Landry describes London as one of the best example of city where the economic,
commercial and cultural situation have nurtured the growth of the creative industries nowadays.

Road Visit To Goa Essay
Road Trip from Pune to Goa!!!
For years I have been dreaming of a long road trip from Pune to Goa. Our engagement gives us an
opportunity to go to Goa and that was our next destination after this engagement. I and my fiancée
Srishti planned for a road trip of 4 days to Goa in my car. Rather that visiting the whole Goa, we
decided to visit only the north part of Goa.
We planned to visit one of the best cities, Goa and planned all things to make this trip a memorable
one. North Goa covers half of Goa. Goa is famous for magnificent scenic beauty, old houses,
churches, temple and beautiful golden sand beaches and exciting culture. The best road to reach north
Goa in all aspect is from Pune NH4 Kolhapur Nipani (Karnataka state) Sankeshwar (Karnataka ...

Now my car s control was in Srishti s hand. I was aware about the bad condition of Nipani Ajara road,
so we took the road which is 10 14 Km extra than Ajara road. Sankeshwar Gandhinglaj road was wide
and smooth enough to save journey time. We stop for some time at Amboli Ghat and then moved
ahead for next destination, Baga. It took 5 hours to reach Baga and it was around 12 noon. So we
search for a decent hotel for freshen up and rest. We booked a room at Relax Holiday Home in Arpora
for next 3 days. It is a nice hotel with swimming pool, gym and other amenities. After getting fresh,
we went for lunch as both were hungry. We had our lunch at the hotel restaurant and the food was
delectable. We had a power nap at the hotel after lunch. Then we went to Chapora Fort that played an
important role in history in defending the Portuguese from the attacks of Marathas. After spending
some time at the top of the fort we headed towards the Vagator beach. It s a small and beautiful beach
with a very less crowd. We spend some quality time together and saw the lovely sunset over the sea.
We had some lovely conversation that realizes me how special she is for me. At 7pm we went towards
Arpora Saturday night bazaar which is a very famous night bazaar. It is filled with many shopping
stalls, food stalls, drinks, live music show, etc. and you will enjoy walking through these. We spend 3

Italian Immigration Research Paper
Autobiography Hello readers, I am Paul Michael Dowdell, better known to my friends or hockey
teammates as Sugar. Now, as you could guess, my interesting nickname most definitely has an
interesting backstory; I ll come back to that later. Well, I come from German and Italian ancestors, as
my last name might show. Most of my fellow peers can tell that I am German because of my
stereotypical blonde hair and blue eyes, and you could also guess that I am Italian as I eat a lot of
pasta, and one of my favorite foods is pasta fagioli, plus, I LOVE pizza. Especially white pizza with a
garlic sauce and pepperoni and as Matthew Denis stated, Throughout the world, Italy is known for its

When I was in kindergarten, the first of many schools I would attend, I made quite a few friends that
year including some that I still know today. One of the friends that I made in kindergarten was a girl
named Amelia. From kindergarten to 6th grade, we were good friends. Then, everything seemed to fall
apart. Now, she seems to almost despise me for reasons that I do not know and hope to find out. Well
from kindergarten to the end of third grade I was at St. Bridget s in Watervliet. Then, from fourth
grade to the first three weeks of sixth grade I was at St. Ambrose. Most of my friends from St. Bridget
s went to St. Ambrose after St. Bridget s closed in third grade; so, I didn t really need to make a lot of
new friends or worry about being shy, because at that time in my life I was very shy. While I was at St.
Ambrose, I made a friend name John, whom I still know and happens to go to CCHS Catholic Central
High School (My current school) too. While I was at St. Ambrose, I pretty much did most of the
bulletin board designing for my fourth grade teacher, Mr. Balcavage. He was really tall and he had
huge hands. Some times in class he would pat some of us on our heads, and for most of us, his hand
could have palmed our heads. While I was in fourth grade, my class and I were doing a project on the

Essay about The Treaty of Versailles and Its Effects
The Treaty of Versailles and Its Effects
In 1914 the First World War was started. Sadly it cost millions of lives. In 1918 the war ended leaving
many countries in debt. The Treaty of Versailles was meant to stop future wars. In the end it was the
cause of the Second World War. Looking back it is clear the treaty caused more problems than it
solved.
======================================================================
Germany and Austria Hungary, being the losers of the war, where not allowed to go to Versailles at the
conference to decide what should happen in the treaty. Present at the meeting were The Big Four

France had undoubtedly suffered the most since most of Northern France had been a battlefield.
Germany had invaded her for the second time since 1870 when Alsace Lorraine had been taken over
by Germany. Georges thought that by stripping Germany of everything he would make sure that there
was not another war again. He had three main demands: Germany must return Alsace Lorraine to
France, pay reparations to France to cover the cost of rebuilding the parts of France that had been
damaged and to take possession of Rhineland to stop Germany attacking France in the future.
Woodrow Wilson had bought over the Fourteen Points which was a list of things to happen in Europe,
which he hoped, would prevent a future war. Two of these include parts of countries to be made into
new countries and for a League of Nations to be set up.
Orlando was not happy about the way he was treated at Versailles. After the Secret Treaty of London,
Italy had been promised the Adriatic Coast. He expected France and Britain to keep their promise
when he arrived at Versailles and wanted his fair share of the spoils of war after changing sides in
1915.
Many people expressed their beliefs through cartoons to change other s opinions. Most of them were
against the treaty but some were for it such as the poster launched by the B.E.U. Not many paid

Summary Of A Child s Journey Through Placement
Summary and Evaluation Baby Jack displays a healthy attachment to mom, while Alice shows clear
indicators of a strong and healthy bond with Jack. As indicated in the above chart, Jack is displaying
all the behaviour expected for this stage of development (from 6 12 months), and accordingly, as
related to attachment, he was friendly with me as long as mom was close, and vigilant in ensuring he
was always aware of her location. The fact that Alice is able to soothe Jack quickly and consistently
and that he is able to adjust to a new stranger so well points to development of the confidence that
Vera Fahlberg (2012) maintains in her text, A Child s Journey through Placement, as intrinsically tied

Freud s theory of personality examined the interplay between the primitive, instinctual urges the id ;
the practical and rational ego ; and the morally attuned superego ; object relations refer to the object of
an instinct , which is the agent through which the instinctual aim is achieved most often a person and,
according to Freud, most often the mother (Ainsworth 1969, p. 1). The psychosexual development
theory that Freud launched reduces our behaviour to mechanistic responses to an instinctive need for
pleasure fueled by the libido and barriers or distortions to the gratification of the libido at various
delineated stages of development were responsible for later problems in life (Kail Zolner 2012, p. 5).
Erik Erikson later added depth to the approach by including more humanistic elements to Freud s
stages and including more periods of development (p.

Students Overall Learning Environment And Negatively...
Certain schools around the United States have researched many books that could be disruptive to
students overall learning environment and negatively impact teen s transitions into adulthood. A
banned book or challenged book is book that the government thinks the contents inside are wrong for
the minds of the person. Some books are banned by the government or school systems due to what
students are able to read. Books can be banned due to sexual reference, controversial religious
viewpoints, and the use of drugs. For these reasons, schools are banning many books. Even though
themes presented in books are not relative to what schools actually teach, schools may still decide to
ban certain books. Stories in some banned books can show students great adventures, such as Into the
Wild by Jon Krakauer, and motivate readers to live their lives while they can, which is especially
relevant in today s society where technology can run people s lives. Even though Into the Wild by Jon
Krakauer is considered too controversial of a book because of its anti authority and adult themes; but,
the story it tells should still be taught to students because it is a valuable coming of age book for teens.
Jon Krakauer was born in 1954 in Brookline, Massachusetts, and then moved to Corvallis, Oregon,
when he was two years old. He is known for writing in the genre of nonfiction, and some of his major
works include: Into the Wild (1996), Into Thin Air (1997), Under the Banner of Heaven: A Story of

The Impacts of Child Sexual Abuse
Child Sexual Abuse Introduction Child abuse has currently become a major societal issue because of
its high predominance and the devastating impacts victims. Children who have been sexually
mishandled frequently show depressive symptomatology, elevated anxiety, school problems, anger,
sleep difficulties, inappropriate sexual behaviors, social withdrawal and nightmares. Physiological
side effects like migraines and stomachaches might be part of the sequelae of child sexual abuse
(Smith, 2008). For a percentage of victimized children, these gushing and behavioral side effects
continue to show themselves for a couple of years. In different expressions, trauma identified
aggravation ought not to be rejected as something that is fleeting and clinically immaterial. Numerous
studies affirm that a huge extent of sexually abused children meet indicative criteria for PTSD when
assessed clinically. Assessment and medication systems are crucial to manage these youngsters and
their families effectively. From a cognitive behavioral perspective and directing variables, we
specifically conduct a review of child sexual abuse (Hudson, 2009). Embracing a cognitive behavioral
viewpoint, we accept this is a comprehensive analysis to be conducted on sexually mishandled
children. Sexually abused children might show symptoms, which reflect the specifics of their misuse
and how they cope with it. Suspicion is elevated when such a child gives some pointers especially

Graham Greene s Use of Characterization in A Little Place off the Edgware Road
In A little place off the Edgware Road there are two focal characters. We learn the name of only one of
these characters and the other remains unnamed throughout the story. This is the first interesting thing
about Greene s use of characterization. By not naming one of the characters we see him as more
mysterious and it helps us to realise at the end that he is just a figment of Craven s imagination.
Greene writes in the third person rather than giving us the ultimate insight into Craven s head by
writing in the first person. This also gives us a certain distance from Craven and this is much like real

Recent research on the life of Graham Greene has shown that he hired many prostitutes. This is
reflected in Craven s view that you need money for love, which is what Greene also believed.
Craven is also losing his faith in God.. He asks himself, Why should he be asked to believe in the
resurrection of this body he wanted to forget? We also get the impression from this Craven might be
old and his body decaying. But this decay of his body is not merely in the physical sense. It has a
spiritual meaning too. In the Christian religion resurrection of the body upon the return of Christ is an
important theme. Again this is interesting because it gives us another insight into Greene himself. He
came from a very strict Catholic background which he rebelled against. Consequently much of his
work is about guilt, conscience and the effects of straying from godliness.
Craven finds posters advertising a theatre which is showing a film. This theatre is much like Craven.
Old, decaying and tired. The film he goes to see is about death and suicide. I think that the fact that
this is the only film that is showing is meant to show that death is inevitable and unavoidable and there
is no choice about it, it just happens. There is an interesting line from the film Craven is watching
which says, I am not afraid of death, Lucius in your

Borderline Personality Disorder And Mental Health Disorder
Borderline Personality Disorder There are many disorders in our world that affect us every day. Some
of these disorders can be manageable by simple changes in daily activates and others need extensive
treatments and yet will never be cured . Borderline personality disorder is one that affects a person so
radically that the person may consider suicide or even commit it. Extensive therapy and even
sometimes drugs are needed to lead a healthy life. BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER
(BPD) is a mental health disorder that affects how a person processes information and his or her
ability to understand and cope with different social situations. (Dolecki, 2012) People who suffer from
BPD don t really understand the ways of relationships (friends, family, intimate). They see concrete
ways and barely see the abstract of society. They are not very reliable or dependable and have
problems keeping jobs, friends and even paying bills. People with this disorder are usually impulsive
and do not always make thoughtful decisions . (Dolecki, 2012) Emotions can rage through the person
which can confuse them to think that they possibly are Bipolar. There are many symptoms that can be
expressed in a person who has borderline personality disorder. The symptoms can be general with
things such as mood and emotion swings, impulsive acting, low self esteem, and outbursts. Many of
these are common signs of teens going through puberty, but if they are the signs of a person with

Persuasive Essay On Watch For Children
For most parents it is easy to make the common mistake of not providing enough attention to their
kids, especially in large places such as Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Kids are easily distracted
and in matter of seconds they will run off their parent s sight which is where it is possible for the kids
to end up lost. I believe kids as well as parent should take more responsibility when it comes to family
trips, therefore parents should stress more to their children about the dangers of populated locations.
When I was a kid I had a terrible experience at Disney world. When I was about eight years old my
family took me to Disney World which is where I was lost and I was scared for over half the day. I had
no clue that going to that trip would turn out to be my worst nightmare. As a result, it is important to
be in watch for children and parents should be extra careful when it comes to keeping an eye out for
their kids. For kids, being lost in Disney World can be frightening, or life threatening therefore, it is
vital for parents to always be on watch for their children.
On the way over to Orlando, Florida where Disney world is located, I could almost count the minutes
to be there. I was impatient to be there already. As a child, me and my close friends would get together
and watch cartoons right after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. From that point on I developed an
enthusiasm for some Disney characters and hoped to one day visit Disney World and live the full

Science Engineering, And Biomedical Applications
Nanotechnology has been fast expanding in the past decade. This field comprises of technologies that
largely involve materials of sizes ranging from 1 to 100 nm. These minute materials may display
distinct characteristics as compared to the same material of a larger form. Due to the smaller size,
altered shape, arrangement, or increased surface area, these nanomaterials may exhibit unique
properties like enhanced strength, flexibility, reactivity, or improved electrical conductivity and
absorption.1 As advanced nano materials are produced and commercialized for extensive use in
research areas like electronics, materials science engineering, and biomedical applications, there is
also an increasing need to develop an effective environmental health and safety (EHS) risk
management system for nanoscale particles. Therefore, an accurate determination of EHS risks of
nanomaterials could be achieved by understanding nanoparticle interaction with other systems as well
as integrating nanomaterials hazard and exposure datasets.
Since nanoscale particles are orders of magnitude smaller than many larger organic molecules which
are transported through cellular membranes and barriers, these particles are not subjected to the same
degree of regulation and thus have far more potential to enter cells and tissues to cause damage.
Nanoparticles can indeed exhibit greater toxicity than a larger sized particle of the same toxicant.2
There are several known mechanisms for nanoparticle toxicity,

The Healing of a Centurian s Servant
Luke 7:1 10
After he had finished speaking in the hearing of the people, he entered into Capernaum.
A certain centurion s servant, who was dear to him, was sick and at the point of death.
When he heard about Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him to come and save his
servant.
When they came to Jesus, they begged him earnestly, saying,
He is worthy for you to do this for him, for he loves our nation, and he built our synagogue for us.

saying to him,
Lord, don t trouble yourself, for I am not worthy for you to come under my roof.

Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.
Woman, Jesus replied, believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this
mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do

On Nuclear Disarmament Rhetorical Analysis Essay
Our challenge is to reconcile, not after the carnage and the mass murder, but instead of the carnage
and the mass murder. Carl Sagan s speech On Nuclear Disarmament is a powerful call to save
humanity by putting an end to weapons of mass destruction. Sagan claims that he does not know if we
are ever going to come to a complete peace, or if we will kill ourselves in the meantime. The claim
made throughout On Nuclear Disarmament is both compelling and thoroughly expressed. Sagan
presents his claim with rhetorical devices such as parallel structure, hyperbole, and repetition drawing
the listener to act upon his plea to prevent senseless carnage. Carl Sagan s use of parallel structure
illustrates that without peace we will not survive as a species. He says, A house divided against itself
cannot stand. Let me vary it a little: A species divided against itself cannot stand. A planet divided
against itself cannot stand. This type of rhetorical device moves the listener gradually from a house
divided to a planet divided, demonstrating the effect on every living person. When Sagan speaks of the
inscription on the Eternal Light Peace Memorial, A World United in the Search for Peace, I feel that
more attention should have been drawn to this point. He could have gone one step further by
emphasizing the hypocrisy of that statement when nuclear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This forces the listener to realize that accidents cannot be predicted and that promises are often empty.
The speech states, In the preceding year, confident assertions were made by officials of both nations
that no accidents of that sort could happen. We were not to worry. The experts would not permit an

Media s Negative Effects On Young Girls
How the media negatively impacts young females
There is no doubt that the media powerfully influences modern society today. Whether it is television,
magazines, celebrities or musicians, the world of pop culture creates role models for society to look up
to, whether or not those influences are good or bad. The impact media and pop culture has on young
girls also proves to be very significant, as young females are affected by wanting to be the ideal girl in
the modern world, and fulfill those standards in order to feel happy about themselves. Articles such as
Wonder Woman by Gloria Steinem, Escape from Wonderland: Disney and the Female Imagination by
Deborah Ross, and The Globalization of Eating Disorders by Susan Bordo, all represent that ... Show

Gloria Steinem expresses her ideas and views on the character of Wonder Woman through her article
Wonder Woman. Steinem is a credible source on the character of Wonder Woman, as she grew up
being influenced by this comic book character, has written several articles on the topic of the
superhero, and has appeared on PBS s Independent Lens, in which she expresses her individual
perspective on Wonder Woman. Steinem argues in Wonder Woman: The problem is that the
superheroes who perform magical feats indeed, even moral heroes who are merely competent are
almost always men. A female child is left to believe that, even when her body is as big as her spirit,
she will still be helping with minor tasks, appreciating the accomplishments of others, and waiting to
be rescued, ( Wonder Woman 456). This argument expressed by Steinem exemplifies the common and
most perceived role of a woman in a superhero comic, as men are usually perceived as being dominant
and powerful, while woman are distinguished as being submissive and vulnerable. As Steinheim
states, female children are left to think that they will not be able to accomplish such important tasks
that Superman or Batman accomplish and therefore may feel less confident in themselves, may feel
that they can be of

Phantom Tamer Case
This phantom sticker that supposedly left residue in the shape of a heart on the duct tape found at the
crime scene, was brought up in the trial by the prostitution even though a sticker was never found.
According to an article (Goddard, 2011), Elizabeth Fontaine, a forensic examiner in the FBI s Latent
Print Unit, testified in court that they were unable to find any fingerprints on the duct tape, but during
the examination, an outline of a heart appeared on one of the corners and edge, that was approximately
the size of a dime. Fontaine compared the heart shaped outline to the outline of debris that gathers
around the edges of a used Band Aid. The Phantom sticker showed up during the examination of the
duct tape under a special lighting tool

Paris Vs. Helen
The story of Paris and Helen is captivating in that they both play different roles and accumulate
different levels of blame in each different retelling of the story. In some, they are the destructive
lovers, whose all consuming desire obliterates Troy and costs many great Greek warriors their lives. In
others, Helen is the victim of Aphrodite s enchantment and Paris s lust; and in some, Paris is portrayed
as a generally weak man who tries to do the right thing, and often fails miserably at it. One question
that often comes up when analyzing their relationship is: how much agency did they both characters
have over their lives and how are we meant to view their relationship and the destruction it causes.
One common thread that always is deeply ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of Paris most unpleasant scenes occur when Aphrodite attempts to defend the injured Paris to
Helen after Paris flees from his battle with Menelaus: You would not think that he came from fighting
against a man; you would think he was going rather to a dance, or rested and had been dancing lately
(The Iliad, 127). Although Aphrodite intends this as a compliment, there is no doubt that this is a very
condescending view of Paris worth. Despite the fact that he has embarrassed himself and his city by
fleeing from battle like a coward, he is reduced even further to his most basic qualities: his looks. This
is very demeaning for a character who is already an outsider in his own community; additionally, Paris
life has arguably been completely dismantled by his looks. Aphrodite sees Paris through a superficial
lens because she is a goddess; she has little concept of human emotion or empathy for Paris
humiliation. She truly believes he lives a charmed life because of her and fails to see the darkness and
pain that everyone, including Paris, has suffered because of her. Paris now has to return to battle
knowing that he will never overcome the shame of failing his people and of bucking under the weight
of his cowardice, and she will never understand that burden; she doesn t have to. The other heroes all
seek glory in battle; yet Paris is still on the outside looking in, as it is clear to him that glory in battle
will never his path. It is a moment of painful clarity for

Essay On Amelia s Reading Comprehension
Plan/Goal:
My goal was to focus on Amelia s reading comprehension. I had planned to conduct an additional
running record, however I had hoped to engage Amelia in retelling the text, and answering literal and
inferential comprehension questions. I had planned to meet with Amelia twice during the week; once
being, after she went book shopping in the class library and then the next day to focus on her
comprehension on one the books she had chosen. I had planned to have a list of questions for Amelia
and I to discuss verbally. I had plan for my questions to have Amelia thinking within the text, thinking
beyond the text and thinking about the test.

Why did she think that? What characters does she think might be in this story? What was she
wondering about as she looked at the cover and back of her books?
Amelia referenced the back of the book and told me that Dolphin Adventure is recommended for
animal lovers, which she reminded me that she is. Amelia return to the cover of the book to elaborate
that the story may be about how a diver helps dolphins or maybe the dolphins helps the diver. As
Amelia looked at the back of the book more closely now, she asked if she could change her answer,
she now knew the book would be about how a diver helps a family of dolphins who get were asking
for his help.
Amelia shared with me that that Superfudge is a book series and she is familiar with some of the
characters such as Fudge and Peter. Amelia this time made a reference to the back of the book to reply
to me that this book is about Peter and Fudge s family moving, only for a year apparently, but a new
baby is on the way too. Amelia emphasized apparently because why would a family move if they
more space and now adding a new baby would mean their old house would not fit three kids and two
adults.
The next day I had followed up with Amelia and asked her which book had she been reading? She
excitedly showed me how much she had read in Superfudge. She was almost done with chapter 10. I
asked if she would mind reading aloud the last few pages of the chapter she was on. Amelia was polite

Loyalty In Beowulf
Literature in a certain time period can reflect the ideals and values of the people who existed during
the time period. values such as loyalty, heroism, and paganism conflicted with Christianity. Many of
these deals from the Anglo Saxon period can easily be compared to the situations in the epic poem
Beowulf
Uniquely, loyalty is a highly valued ideal in the Anglo Saxon period. In Beowulf, loyalty is shown in
the kingdom that Beowulf helps. Along with the fact that the village would celebrate often. This
vividly paints a picture of how even though the Anglo Saxons are barbaric they value the family unit,
tribal loyalty, and the kingdom as a whole. In the poem Beowulf it states all of Beowulf s band had
jumped from their beds, ancestral swords raised and read and determined (Burton Raffel 31). This
expresses that a large band of people were loyal to Beowulf when they rushed over to join the cause.
This contributes that love and loyalty in the kingdom. Notable this reflects how loyalty was valued to
the Anglo Saxons.
Comparatively, heroism is another valued ideal in the Anglo Saxon period. Heroism can be shown in
Beowulf because of the themes of courage and skill in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of the pagan ideas stayed and both are depicted in the poem. Omens are something pagan that
the poem mentions. The omens were good and they urged the adventure on. So Beowulf chose the
mightiest men he could find. Omens are general something more associated with a pagan religion.
This is one aspect of the poem where the values of paganism shine through. On the other hand,
Christianity is also themed in the poem. For example the quote The almighty making the earth and
shaping these beautiful plains marked off by oceans. Then proudly setting the sun and the moon. The
almighty refers to god in the Christian religion. The rest of the quote describes slightly a creation story

Internal And External Factors Of Global Trade
1. What are the major factors one must consider when going global? As we all know, global trade is no
easy, companies cannot just ship their products to another country and sell it in the foreign market,
there are many factors need to be considered and analysis. In my point of view, the factor can be
separate into internal and external factors. Internal factor: Does the product sell well in the home
country? If the product is not doing good in the home country, why we should try to go global? May
be some boss may think the foreign country will be adopting the product better compare to the home
country, and I think this is wrong. The Product is the company s core. Do the company has enough

Companies need to follow the rule to playing the game in a foreign country. Furthermore, government
is another part the CEO needs to think about it, some government will stop or against some products
unless under their control. The most well known examples will be the Facebook and Google in China.
Google China was founded in 2005 as the google subsidiary corporation and shut down the service in
2010 by not cooperate with the Chinese government. In the main while, the Facebook CEO puts lots
effort dealing with the Chinese government, but still unable to entry the Chinese market. Economic
and the currency: first of all, every business is trying to avoid risk, therefor, the economic status of a
foreign country is what the company looking for, they want the low unemployment rate, inflation rate
and stable economic environment. Furthermore, the currency difference will change the product price
strategy. the local competition. Most cases fail because those companies underestimate the local
competitor. When the Alibaba found, they are goal is beat the companies like Amazon and Ebay. There
is no one believe Alibaba will achieve their goal during that time and no one try to make some barrier
to stop their expansion. This underestimation help Alibaba became one of the heavyweight company
in the world and Ebay lost the entire market in China. 2. Why is CULTURE so critical to the

Two Associated Systems
Two Associated Systems:
Two associated systems with the eye are the nervous and muscular systems. The eye is a part of the
nervous system because it is responsible for sending, receiving, and processing information sent
through the nerve impulses. The optic nerve is a part of the eye and part of the central nervous system.
As humans, we see something through our eyes and react to it. If we see someone is going to hit us,
we flinch. If we are reading something, or seeing a picture, we see it and process it. By seeing the
world through our eyes, it allows us to react and process our surroundings. The eyes are also
associated with the muscular system; it has a special system of muscles that allow the eyes to move.

If you are born with it, you will have to live with it. However, there is medical research going on to try
to cure color blindness. They are using gene therapy on monkeys to get them to see color. Researchers
hope that one day this will help humans too. Gene therapy helps repair the damaged chromosome that
causes color blindness. If color blindness is caused by something else; like an injury to the eye, old
age, glaucoma, or certain medication side effects, you must treat the underlying cause to fix the non
genetic colorblindness.
Prevention of Diseases: To prevent glaucoma a person should first off know about their family history.
If glaucoma runs in the family, a person can be more likely to develop it. Some other preventative
measures are to go to the eye doctor regularly, take prescribed eye drops, wear eye protection, and
exercise safely. In order to prevent corneal disease one must avoid smoke, wear protective eye gear,
take frequent breaks from computer use, eat food that promote eye health (leafy greens and fish), and
have the eyes screened regularly. By following these preventative measures, not only can a person
reduce the chance of getting this disease, but they can also support good eye

America in the 1950 s Essay
America in the 1950 s
Society in America during the 1950 s was one that portrayed men and women in very different, but
rigid roles. Women were housewives, secretaries, and mothers. Men were providers, war heroes, and
businessmen. Television, newspapers and magazines played an important role as well in determining
ways men and women should behave. Advertisements for real estate were designed to sell to the All
American family. For example; Dad would be the returned home veteran who is now running the
company, Mom is an ideal housewife who works a couple days a week for extra vacation cash, little
Billy likes baseball and his sister Susie plays with dolls. Houses designed with this type of family in

A perfect home for a perfect All American family. Another attractive feature that Green Acres was able
to offer were low cost loans that were only available to veterans and their families. This neighborhood
was designed as a community for middle class families, who could live a solid, humble, happy life
around other families that wanted the same. It was affordable for the average American family to
purchase a home in this subdivision. Automobile manufacturers during this time also used the same
campaign as many advertisers did. They put phrases like coming home and it s going to be all right in
their ads to lure veterans coming home. Some companies played on the fact that they were creating
jobs for Americans. Therefore the automobile makers were keeping America s economy strong and
prosperous. By purchasing your vehicle through a company that provides Americans with jobs and
opportunities, you were doing your part to keep America s economy going strong. The advertising was
designed to put a sense of patriotism in veterans returning home as well as the average consumer.
Women who worked during the fifties might have found it difficult looking for a job outside of being a

Similarities Between John Proctor And The Crucible
Arthur Miller wrote The Crucible in order to show the similarities between the Salem Witch Trials and
The Second Red Scare, which happened from 1947 through 1957. The Salem Witch Trials occurred
from February 1692 to March 1632, a full year of prosecutions and hearings caused by the accusations
of witchcraft. Similarly, the Second Red Scare befell as a time of continuous imputations of
communism. Presumably, Miller relates to the tragic hero in his play. Arthur Miller, like John Proctor,
faced some social problems. Some accused Miller of sympathizing with communist and he
consequently became blacklisted. Ultimately, John Proctor and Arthur Miller are both slightly rejected
by society due to their affairs and opposition to the accusations of

Yorktown Battle Analysis
General Washington now had a combined force of over 16,000 American and French Soldiers ready to
begin a siege of Cornwallis and his British force of only 7,500 Soldiers. The French Navy had
decisively defeated the British Navy. There was no chance of escape for the British, both land and sea
routes were blocked. On September 29, 1781, the Battle of Yorktown began. As Washington moved
his Army closer to the British, the British would engage them from their defensive positions. Over the
next 6 days, the French and Americans would establish their trenches needed to begin the siege. The

Ready confirms, On October 14, Washington ordered an attack on two British redoubts separated from

positions of the British Army. The redoubts must be captured, and by the capture, they would all but
force the surrender of the British Army, as they would now be in an indefensible position. The
Americans would attack redoubt 10. Seventy British Soldiers held it. The French would attack redoubt
9. One hundred twenty British and German Soldiers held it. At 1830, Washington employed a scene of
deception. He has ordered troops movement which would appear as if an assault on Yorktown it was
about to occur. Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Hamilton (Commanded attack on redoubt 10) told his
men not to load their guns. Using only the bayonets at the end of their muskets, Hamilton and his men
captured redoubt 10 (Middleton, 2012, pg.385). The French simultaneously assaulted redoubt number

  • 2. Marine Science Application Essay Re: Application for Staff Scientist Position in Marine Science Dear Dr. Torchin, I am very excited about the possibility of joining at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI)) in the position of Staff Scientist in Marine Science, as advertised in Naturejobs. My research interests fit extremely well with the requirements of this post and with existing staff scientists associated with the STRI. I have extensive research experience in the interdisciplinary field of Marine Sciences (including biological diversity, environmental chemistry, physical sciences, climate change) with diverse institutions globally (Japan, Germany, Hong Kong, Canada, South Korea, Monaco) funded by competitive fellowships and external research ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I discovered 11 new proteins which are decisive factors in the biological formation of invertebrates. The functions of proteins allowed us to understand how a huge number of invertebrates interact with the environment and how they respond to global climate change. Because of my discovery and outstanding achievements in the doctoral and postdoctoral programs, I received President Award from the University of the Ryukyus and many awards from international scientific forums. Using these emerging environmental innovative approaches, I performed whole proteomics analyses in calcifying marine invertebrates and discovered how and which extracellular proteins (e.g., ECMP 67) are responsible for making calcite mineral in their skeletons and subsequently explored how some invertebrates (e.g. octocorals) defy their environments (see http://www.asbmb.org/news.aspx? id=14312 ; http://www.en.uni muenchen.de/news/newsarchiv/2011/2011_rahman_corals.html ). Throughout my doctoral and post doctoral research programs following the environmental proteomics approach, I identified key functional new proteins (including Ca2+ binding and glycosylation proteins), genes and enzyme which are involved in the biological process of the chemical formation of calcium carbonate skeleton in corals. These findings are very important for understanding the biodiversity of ecosystems, calcification process, chemistry of the oceans, and environmental change signals. Using ... • 3. Nest Dragon Research Paper Least Dragon s Behavioral Patterns Least Dragon is one of the most fascinating species in Thrag Island, the small dragon which has a gray green coloration with frills that turn red when extended, and is one of the few non fire breathing species. Its displays of behavior such as ritualized aggression, and reproductive courtship and also the defense mechanisms that this species uses makes this species s survival one of the most fascinating in the island. For starters, territoriality plays an important role in the dragon reproductive behavior as the male dragons react to the approach or the song of another male, as a potential rivalry, which then starts a display of ritualized aggression between them, as they continued to make rough cheech noises while displaying their blood red frills (which is an example of sexual dimorphism as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If there is a predator close to the dragon, the reptile will camouflage itself with the surrounding leaves and mosses of the area or will try to hide in its nest as its coloration provides an advantage against most predators, especially flying ones such as eagles. Likewise, draconologists have been trying to explain the reason behind why this dragon species do not breathe fire, the most accepted explanation is that the dragon short size will not produce a large flame similar to its relatives (Westerosi dragons), which will not be enough protection against predators, and also if used for reproductive purposes the flame would likely provide the location of the male, as it would contrast with the greenish background of the forest and will leave a scent that could be tracked easier than the different pitch ... • 4. Theme Of Fate In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold The novella, chronicle of a Death Foretold ,raises the question of (whether fate controls our lives more than we think). Fate is an important theme in this novel because it can not be changed. Marquez believes that even if you know your fate, you can not change the outcome. Marquez shows that people cannot alter their fate through the plight of the characters Santiago Nasar, Angela Vicario and the twin brothers. Foremost, Marquez starts the first line of the book on the day they were going to kill him, Santiago Nasar got up at five thirty in the morning to wait for the boat the bishop was coming on (Marquez 3) to illustrate our fate is decided before we are born. Angale was destine to not have Bayardo as her husband until Santiago Nasar died because he was fated to be killed by the Victoire twins and the only that could have happened if something important was at stake and at this time virginty was very important to abtain honor in the society. The fact of the matter is she did not chose to be not a virgine but fate was planned which is beyond her control. In addition, when the twins demand the name of her lover or the man who took her virginity She looked for it in the shadows, she found it at first sight among the many... (47). • 5. In A House Besieged By Lydia Davos In the short story In A House Besieged by Lydia Davos, the entire story serves as a metaphor for the fact that our language is not as complex and detailed our thoughts and emotions are, as well as how terrifying that can really be. As is with this short story, although two people may hear, see, or feel similar things, they may express them differently and both feel misunderstood and lonely. The woman in the story tries to express her fear and confusion in terms of classical literature, such as the wind and the rain . On the other hand, the man uses words that are much less poetic and that all include forceful terms, such as hunters or armies . Perhaps the man in the story saw that the word besieged included armies, attackers, hunters, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Analysis Of New Investment Plans Of An Existing Company Global business environment is a world renowned subject in today s era and is being practised by almost all major companies in the world. Understanding of business in a bigger perspective and analysing the perplex situations of todays dynamic world are its key issues. The two new skills, which were identified for the first time during the class, were: 1) Critical analysis of new investment plans of an existing company. 2) Practising Cause and effect strategy through varied research and study. Explanation: 1) Critical analysis of new investment plans of an existing company was not only a new experience but also provided a detailed picture on how things work in today s global business world. The analysis was dependent upon studies and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The above mentioned approaches helped in building a firm base and helped in identifying the key tools used in the global business environment. The practise enabled us to realize the investment goal research that was deployed to us. One of the key findings was that in order to understand the complexity of today s business world, one has to have an approach covering all the aspects of business and corporate world so as to have a correct finding and conclusion. Identifying aspects in an altered fashion promotes growth and consistency in the business world. Investment decisions are perplexed. However, developing insights into an overall concept that helps us in understanding the internal and external environmental issues can build our concrete and practical judgements. 2) Cause and Effect is a tool in order to monitor and analyse the major reasons of why things happened. Therefore subsequently we can use this tool to alter these effects in a way that can create a difference not only for the organization but also the business culture. Analysis of causes helps an organization set up regulations to work in a disparate fashion rather than following the same old methods. Analysing causes further helps in realisation of goals by moving forward and making the required changes in the planning and output process. • 7. Canada Is An Example Of A Mixed Economy Canada is an example of a mixed economy. A mixed economy sits between the planned and market economy on the economic continuum. It is usually considered the best type of economy since it distributes control equally between individuals and the government. Unlike planned economies in which the government is given primary control over certain aspects of life, the mixed economy gives the government less control and regulation. This allows sellers and private markets to be able to expand and grow their business without any interruptions. Of course, the government has to step in once in a while to ensure that there is no illegal activity going on and that work environments are being kept safe, but for the most part, the owner has the right to be ... • 8. Examples Of Binary Opposition In The Hunger Games Binary opposition is not only a vital concept in linguistics, but it also plays a significant role in the fields of anthropology, sociology, literature and art as it is believed that things only mean something in relation to one another, like the ever existing concept of good and evil. They serve as labels to identifying certain ideas but what makes them opposites is that fact that they cannot coexist and this creates boundaries between groups, leading to discrimination, inequality and injustice. This is very much present in The Hunger Games in which two opposite groups are created based on the same idea of presence and absence (of power) and the weaker group fears the stronger and ends up obeying whatever the dominant has to say. This not only creates prejudices, bias and disparity between groups but also leads to the us and them distinction, where the dominant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As mentioned in the very first chapter of this study, the type of control that the Capitol has is technological in nature. From the very beginning of the story, we are told that it is not safe to talk against the Capitol as they have eyes and ears everywhere. Katniss Everdeen, the narrator, mentions it that she goes to hunt in the forest to keep her family from dying and even in the middle of nowhere (Quote 18, line 3), she worries somebody might overhear her (Quote 18, line 4). For this reason, she explains that she learned (Quote 18, line 7) not to talk about the Capitol in public and avoid tricky topics such as the reaping, or food shortages or the Hunger Games (Quote 18, line 11 12). She is so cautious that she tries to turn her features into an indifferent mask so that no one could ever read her thoughts (Quote 18, line 8). This is a major feature of any house, and it must be given proper attention before and after your purchase. If you have found a property that you love, but the roof is not in good shape, you may well be able to convince the seller to lower the asking price. The following are some of the primary issues to look for and questions to ask when scrutinizing the roof of a home for sale: Shingles: Take a good look at the shingles. Are they curling or buckling? If so, an entire replacement could be imminent. Shingles that are losing granules might be nearing the end of their lifespan. If there are shingles missing in places, this means that either repairing or replacing the roof will be necessary. Gutters: You may already have checked the shingles for evidence of missing granules, but be sure to look in the gutters. The missing granules are likely to follow the force of gravity and accumulate in the gutters. If you see them there, you may need to consider a roof replacement after you buy the ... As observed in Fig. 8. The initial flux of PIM shows a gradual decrease with increasing of cycle s reuse, which may be caused by the loss of carrier from membrane [37]. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conclusion In this study, a polymer inclusion membrane was prepared and succevally applied for the removal of citric acid from synthetic wastewater. The mixture of CTA and CA was found to be the optimum base polymer for quantitative transport of citric acid. Moreover, the nature of carrier especially alkyl chain length, stirring rate, and pH of feed phase are also important factors affecting the increased rate of citric acid transport. Hence, from results obtained it can be seen that the investigated calix[4]resorcinarene are effective extractants for citric acid and that their extraction abilities depend on the alkyl chain length of the substituent in the macrocycle. Choosing the appropriate length of alkyl chain, very selective system can be designed. The excellent efficiency for the citric acid transport by the proposed PIM system reveals its potential application for the selective removal, concentration and purification of citric acid from different media. • 16. Monotheistic Religion In The Paleolithic And Neolithic Period Paleolithic: The Paleolithic period lasted from about 200,000 b.c. to about 10,000 b.c. It was the early phase of the Stone Age; and encompassed a steady development of stone tools, antler and bone artifacts, engraving on bone and stone, and paintings on the walls of caves and rock structures. There was not much structure built or agriculture done in this period as the people lived a nomadic lifestyle, migrating with the herds of animals they hunted for food. Neolithic: The Neolithic period lasted from about 9000 b.c. to about 8000 b.c. It was the last phase of the Stone Age; and encompassed the domestication of animals, the development of agriculture, and the manufacturing of pottery and textiles. During this period people were beginning to settle and develop a more sedentary way of life. With this type of life style came territorial issues, meaning that because of the idea of settling and claiming land people would be more likely to protect it or fight for it. Monotheism: The basic definition of monotheism is the belief in one God. The opposite of polytheism, which is the belief in many Gods, who each serve a different purpose. However, for a monotheistic religion, the God is all knowing, all seeing and all powerful; this God would be the sole creator and provider. Society s Media has Altered the Court Experience Societies media as we know it has altered the reality of The United States law and its courts, causing the real world to become more of a blur. Media has given people somewhat of a basic aspect of the law and how it works, but little do people know what television shows such as Bones, CSI, Law and Order, Judge Judy, and etc., has inaccurate ruling of the laws and procedures. Giving a shrouded haze over our eyes in believing that the law system takes merely minutes to process. People need to understand that it is not all about the drama and the intensity of the scene, but knowledge and skills it takes for a proper court to function. Individuals need realize that our Law, which derives from our infamous constitution, is what protects and regulates not only our lives, but also everything that is justice around us. Within this paper I will be talking about three major points that I believe that are important to the readers mind. First, is to announce my views of the distortion that media has created for humanity to be less educated of the actual law and court system. Second, is to inform the readers of how law works in the real world and significant differences between the real law and what media has perceived law to look like. With readers both informed of the real and non real sides of the law, I will lastly give a brief story of my own experience of going to court. The law is here to protect our rights and freedom, yet somehow media has create a great amount profit in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Persuasive Essay On Watch For Children For most parents it is easy to make the common mistake of not providing enough attention to their kids, especially in large places such as Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Kids are easily distracted and in matter of seconds they will run off their parent s sight which is where it is possible for the kids to end up lost. I believe kids as well as parent should take more responsibility when it comes to family trips, therefore parents should stress more to their children about the dangers of populated locations. When I was a kid I had a terrible experience at Disney world. When I was about eight years old my family took me to Disney World which is where I was lost and I was scared for over half the day. I had no clue that going to that trip would turn out to be my worst nightmare. As a result, it is important to be in watch for children and parents should be extra careful when it comes to keeping an eye out for their kids. For kids, being lost in Disney World can be frightening, or life threatening therefore, it is vital for parents to always be on watch for their children. On the way over to Orlando, Florida where Disney world is located, I could almost count the minutes to be there. I was impatient to be there already. As a child, me and my close friends would get together and watch cartoons right after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. • 36. Science Engineering, And Biomedical Applications Nanotechnology has been fast expanding in the past decade. This field comprises of technologies that largely involve materials of sizes ranging from 1 to 100 nm. These minute materials may display distinct characteristics as compared to the same material of a larger form. Due to the smaller size, altered shape, arrangement, or increased surface area, these nanomaterials may exhibit unique properties like enhanced strength, flexibility, reactivity, or improved electrical conductivity and absorption.1 As advanced nano materials are produced and commercialized for extensive use in research areas like electronics, materials science engineering, and biomedical applications, there is also an increasing need to develop an effective environmental health and safety (EHS) risk management system for nanoscale particles. Therefore, an accurate determination of EHS risks of nanomaterials could be achieved by understanding nanoparticle interaction with other systems as well as integrating nanomaterials hazard and exposure datasets. Since nanoscale particles are orders of magnitude smaller than many larger organic molecules which are transported through cellular membranes and barriers, these particles are not subjected to the same degree of regulation and thus have far more potential to enter cells and tissues to cause damage. Nanoparticles can indeed exhibit greater toxicity than a larger sized particle of the same toxicant.2 There are several known mechanisms for nanoparticle toxicity, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The author,Earl Lovelace, allows even the non indigenous reader to understand, to feel the physical and psychological realities of poverty stricken Calvary Hill every sweet, twisting, hurting ache (p. 133) more intensely , more completely, through his use of paradox. Indeed, oxymorons pepper the pages of his novel, challenging our habits of thought and provoking us into seeking another sense or context in which these self contradictions may be resolved into truths, truths that are clearly universal yet at the same time inseparable from the combined colour and squalor of post World War II Trinidadian life. Graduating from the physical, however, that up downing, drop rising (p. 152) of her bottom, Aldrick will come to realize that her very desirability placed her above ordinary desiring (p. 229), the mere ownership which Guy intends, and it is at carnival that he first glimpses the future that they might share, how he might paradoxically lose himself and gain himself in her, swirling away with her until together they disappeared into the self that she was calling back, calling forth (p. 141). Echoing the Indian, Pariag, and Philo the Calypsonian, Aldrick begins to desire to simply live and love and grow, which is exactly why he has always loved Sylvia: her beauty was not a weapon, but a declaration of a faith in life and a promise of life (p. 228). He alone realizes the paradox that Sylvia is both illuminated and doomed by that aura (p. 229) of inner sainted beauty which Guy threatens to suppress by effectively sequestering her in a new home in Diego Martin. Carl Sagan s speech On Nuclear Disarmament is a powerful call to save humanity by putting an end to weapons of mass destruction. Sagan claims that he does not know if we are ever going to come to a complete peace, or if we will kill ourselves in the meantime. The claim made throughout On Nuclear Disarmament is both compelling and thoroughly expressed. Sagan presents his claim with rhetorical devices such as parallel structure, hyperbole, and repetition drawing the listener to act upon his plea to prevent senseless carnage. Carl Sagan s use of parallel structure illustrates that without peace we will not survive as a species. He says, A house divided against itself cannot stand. Let me vary it a little: A species divided against itself cannot stand. A planet divided against itself cannot stand. This type of rhetorical device moves the listener gradually from a house divided to a planet divided, demonstrating the effect on every living person. In others, Helen is the victim of Aphrodite s enchantment and Paris s lust; and in some, Paris is portrayed as a generally weak man who tries to do the right thing, and often fails miserably at it. Although Aphrodite intends this as a compliment, there is no doubt that this is a very condescending view of Paris worth. Despite the fact that he has embarrassed himself and his city by fleeing from battle like a coward, he is reduced even further to his most basic qualities: his looks. This is very demeaning for a character who is already an outsider in his own community; additionally, Paris life has arguably been completely dismantled by his looks. Aphrodite sees Paris through a superficial lens because she is a goddess; she has little concept of human emotion or empathy for Paris humiliation. She truly believes he lives a charmed life because of her and fails to see the darkness and pain that everyone, including Paris, has suffered because of her. Paris now has to return to battle knowing that he will never overcome the shame of failing his people and of bucking under the weight of his cowardice, and she will never understand that burden; she doesn t have to.
