Thanks For Accepting Famousdebater And Good Luck My Friend
Thanks for accepting Famousdebater and good luck my friend!
Framework:
Based on the definitions given in round one, we see this debate rests on ethics. That is, whether the
individual or society is ethically paramount. Thus, it should be obvious that the framework for this
debate could only reasonably be set on how morality is determined. Once determined all that is left is
to apply ethics to our question.
An Intro To Ethics: Utilitarianism
Famousdebater and I Identify as Utilitarian s, and as it is widely accepted moral world view. Here is a
basic overview of utilitarian ethics.
Ethics delves into what ought to be rather than what is. Henry Sidgwick rightly points out a typical
flaw made when determining what ought to be done, or in other words, what is ethical. we frequently
prescribe that this or that `ought to be done or aimed at without any express reference to an ulterior
end, (1) As John Stuart Mill says All action is for the sake of some end. In order to determine what we
ought do we must observe what the results will be from that action. What ends are produced? all the
rules of conduct which men prescribe to one another as moral rules are really though in part
unconsciously prescribed as a means to the general happiness of mankind, Henry Sidgwick (2)This is
basic utilitarianism, The Greatest good for the greatest number. As Utilitarianism is the ethic both my
opponent and I subscribe to and is a sound moral philosophy, it ought to be the

Walmart Swot Analysis
3.4 SWOT Walmart s supply chain management has proved to be very effective, which has led the
company to success. This case study analyzes the company s strengths and weaknesses, and factors in
what threats they face, as well as what opportunities that they can exploit. 3.4.1 Strengths Walmart is a
very powerful retail brand that represents affordability. Their number one strength is their efficient
supply chain network. They offer Everyday Low Prices and have a consistent level of inventory.
Walmart achieves this through their bargaining power with their suppliers. These suppliers offer just in
time delivery of merchandise to Walmart locations. These strengths help maintain Walmart s market
share and maintain customer loyalty. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Walmart needs to continually develop effective strategies to withstand the threats of substitutes and
new entrants. And, strategies that address the bargaining power of buyers and suppliers. 3.5.1
Competitive Rivalry The following external factors are the most significant for Walmart to consider
regarding competition: There is a large number of organization in the retail market with a large variety
of retail products and services they provide with high aggressiveness they saw the efficiency of what
Walmart is doing and they copied their supply chain strategy. Thus, Walmart experiences the strong
force of these external factors in competitive rivalry in the retail industry environment. 3.5.2
Bargaining Power of Buyers Walmart faces a low bargaining power of buyer because the large
population of buyers are individuals that buys small purchases that makes it difficult for them (buyers)
to impose significant pressure on retail firms. So, in effect, the bargaining power of buyers is weak in
influencing Walmart and other retail firms. 3.5.3 Bargaining Power of Suppliers Walmart s suppliers
bargaining power is low. Since they used the Vendor Managed Inventory which meant their suppliers
managed their own inventory at Walmart at the price Walmart wants which helps secure the lowest
prices from its suppliers to sustain its everyday low price. Thus, the bargaining

Interpreter Of Maladies Analysis
The literary fiction The Interpreter of Maladies gives us insight on the human condition which tells us
as readers that communication is important but it is often of human nature to misinterpret the
interactions. After Ms. Das called his job as an interpreter romantic , Mr. Kapasi developed a fantasy
where Mrs. Das is the perfect companion who would reveal the disappointment of her marriage, and
he in his. (92). The quote explains the misinterpretation because of Mr. Kapasi s relationship with his
wife who had little regard for his career as an interpreter. (90). Unlike Mrs. Kapasi, Mrs. das shows
some interest in Mr. Kapasi s occupation which makes Mr. Kapasi believe that it could more than a
fabricated fantasy, which cannot really happen, mainly because Mr. ... Show more content on

Das tells Mr. Kapasi her secret. Mrs. Das Was tired of feeling so terrible all the time and hoping
you[Mr. Kapasi] could help me feel better, say the right thing. (99). However, Mr. Das doesn t think
that he should help her because he felt insulted that Mrs. Das should ask him to interpret her common,
trivial little secret. (99). Both characters illustrate misinterpretation because Mr. Kapasi thought of
Mrs. Das a romantic companion, but Mrs. Das assumed Mr. Kapasi as someone who could help her
with her problem because he worked as an interpreter. A last example of misinterpretation in
communication is shown when Mr. Kapasi obliges to Mrs. Das request and the answer he gives asks if
what Mrs. Das felt was really pain or if it was just guilt. It s Mrs. Das who demonstrates the
misinterpretation when she glared at Mr. Kapasi....opened the car door and began walking up the path

mentioned before, Mrs. Das thought that Mr. Kapasi who was an interpreter must have understood or

Federal Budget Analysis
Reading the Federal Budget The federal budget is a vital part of every country because the future
spending totally depends on the number of money earned by the country during the year. The
governments create a special commission that is obliged to form a well established government, with
the fair distribution of money. The National Priorities Project (NPP) is a unique non profit
organization that presents the budget system to ordinary citizens and makes it fully transparent and
accessible, so everyone who wants can see where do the government collect money, and the spend it
during the fiscal year. The two main questions about the federal budget that are important for the
overall understanding of economics and the government role in the formation ... Show more content

They created a system with numerous taxes and fees that affect every part of human life, so even when
somebody buys a little sandwich, some amount of money also goes to the budget. This system of taxes
and fees was created with the early establishment of the country and develops from year to year.
Sometimes when the government needs more money to spend, they just create an additional tax that
will raise enough money. According to the National Priorities Project (NPP), the federal government
raises trillions of dollars in tax revenue each year, and for example, during the 2015 fiscal year, the
government earned $3.18 trillion. So, the main sources of American budget are taxes and other fees,
but they also differ from each other. According to the National Priorities Project (NPP), the three main
types of taxes are, income taxes paid by individuals, payroll taxes paid jointly by workers and
employers, and corporate income taxes paid by businesses. Between these three types of taxes, the
income taxes play the biggest role (near 50%), so it is clear that national budget is formed by ordinary
citizens who pay their taxes. Some of the citizens are not satisfied with such distribution and believes,
that corporations and business owners should play the biggest role in taxation, while ordinary citizens
should pay lower taxes. Despite this controversy, the modern taxation system was formed many years
ago, and nowadays it performs well, so there is no direct reason to change

The Ethical And Moral Issues Of The Adoption Essay
With adoption there are often many issues that can arise. The issues during an adoption can range
from ethical, moral, to legal issues. One might think there could be many legal issues when it comes to
an adoption, but not many may think of the ethical and moral issues that can come about in the
adoption process. Ethical issues can arise in the post adoption process by the way of wrongful
adoption liability. This issue pertains to two categories, fraud as the basis for wrongful adoption, and
negligence as the basis for wrongful adoption. This issue has been decided in many court cases. In
many of these cases the mother uses one of these arguments as a basis to try to revoke the adoption,
and gain back their parental rights. The fraud as a basis for wrongful adoption is deliberately
providing inaccurate material background information. (AFFCNY, 2016) While the negligence basis is
carelessly not providing material, and background information. At least 17 states and the District of
Columbia have adoption laws providing a specified number of days after signing a relinquishment
(ranging from three to 30 days) during which birthparents can revoke their decisions without having to
prove fraud or best interests of the child. (Smith, 2006) The next ethical issue that commonly comes
up is the best interests of the child. When a mother petitions to get her rights returned to her as a
parent after relinquishing her rights the main issue the judge will look at if they deem that the

The Slavery Of The South
The South, on the other hand, was highly dependent upon the institution of slavery. It was still
primarily an agricultural society that needed as many laborers as possible in order for the plantation
owners to make ends meet. According to historian Douglas Harper, In 1793 came the cotton gin,
which brought a 50 fold increase in the average daily output of short staple cotton, promoted the rapid
expansion of a cotton kingdom across the Deep South, and made large scale slavery profitable.
Because of this, the slave became an essential tool to the farmers of the south; more money became
invested in slavery rather than in industrial improvements. Based upon the 1860 U.S. Census, there
were almost a whopping total of four million slaves in the South alone. In fact, the more slaves an
owner had, the more prestige. Most slave owners owned fewer than five slaves, and only 12 percent of
Southerners had twenty or more slaves. Many whites who had no slaves looked with envy upon the
wealthy, and to a degree admired them. This hierarchy had a clearly defined social structure which
created distinctions between rich and poor whites as well as racial segregation. This agricultural
society and its strict hierarchy only increased the social and racial disparities found in the southern
region of the United States.
These differences in cultures inevitably led to the difference in Bible interpretations. These different
interpretations occurred primarily in response to the moral debate

Spoiled, but Not a Brat
Diquan Lamar Hubbard Introduction to College Writing Professor Sophie Bradford October 19, 2012
Spoiled, but not a Brat The ideal spoiled child does not come to mind easily. I observed people around
campus, but I think one of the perfect examples of a spoiled child is Angelica Pickles from the popular
Nickelodeon show Rugrats. Angelica showed characteristics that made her stand out as an antagonist.
She would refer to the other characters as dumb babies. Angelica would show how selfish she was by
convincing the other characters to do plans that would only benefit her, which set her up most of the
time as the antagonist in each episode. She would receive gifts to her heart s desire and not be the least
bit thankful. Her parents set ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

constantly being taught things from her father that will make her into a well off college student. She
explained that she had to do the same things as most other normal kids and that she got this
philosophy from her father who did not start out as an oil tycoon, but worked his way up. I have also
seen a counter example in a people that may not be rich, but they were brats. I was in program called
Upward Bound, while I was in high school. Upward Bound was created for at risk teens that may not
have come from the wealthiest of homes and they are usually first generation college students. While I
was in Upward Bound it was common to see people with nice things, but they had worked for them.
They wore expensive clothes; they had all kinds of expensive technology like MacBook s and iPads. A
lot of them worked too and they would off set the cost of a lot of their things. There were some that
didn t; that acted like they deserved to have things given to them just for being present. In Upward
Bound they would help us by giving us checks for our mileage and gifts all of the time. There were

his younger self (Jude Law) stayed at the title hotel. At the time of his stay, the legendary hotel was

the important characters as vehicles to convey the theme familial love and support. This is shown
when the theme is set up through Maggie and Frankie having broken relationship with their families,

become isolated and unsatisfied. Therefore, by coming together, they express a similar familial love

Cronulla Beach is a popular tourist attraction and attracts many beachgoers from all over Sydney. It is
located on a southern Sydney peninsular, surrounded by Botany Bay to the north, Bate Bay to the east,
Port Hacking to the south, and Gunnamatta Bay to the west. On the 14th of March 2011, year 10 went
to Cronulla Beach to investigate how people use and interact with the coastal environment. We
investigated three main things and they were: * What impacts local residents and businesses have on

Because of the cost involved, beach nourishment is only used where other strategies prove to be
ineffective. Beach Nourishment: Beach nourishment is the physical transfer of sand from an area of
excess to where it is being eroded. This often involves dredging and transport of sand by truck or
through pipeline. Because of the cost involved, beach nourishment is only used where other strategies
prove to be ineffective. 1. What impacts have local residents and businesses had on Cronulla Beach?
The real impact regarding local residents and businesses on Cronulla beach is their influence on the
government as well as their input and suggestions on points of improvement for the Beach. After all,
these are the people that are going to be affected the most from any changes occurring. For example
the sea wall at Cronulla Beach is not the most attractive thing, yes it is highly beneficial but the local
residents and businesses that have to look at it all the time, may not be as pleased as the government is
with the idea. It also needs to be taken into consideration that future development doesn t impact on
their property value, access to the beach or coastal views. 2. How are people using Cronulla Beach?

people are using Cronulla Beach. We noticed the public were using the beach for a wide range of

Big Bang
it is important to understand what Big Bang Theory (BBT) is and is not. Contrary to the common
perception, it is not a theory about the origin of the universe. Rather, it describes the development of
the universe over time. This process is often called cosmic evolution . Over the last several decades
the basic picture of cosmology given by BBT has been generally accepted by astronomers, physicists
and the wider scientific community. However, no similar consensus has been reached on ideas about
the ultimate origin of the universe. This remains an area of active research and some of idea current
ideas are discussed below. That said, BBT is nevertheless about origins
In addition to being a theory about the origins of the basic building ... Show more content on

In both cases, the model implies that the universe is expanding into some larger, pre existing volume.
In fact, the theory says nothing like that. Instead, the expansion of the universe is completely self
contained.
People often have difficulty with the idea that space itself expands . An easier way to understand this
concept is to think of it as the distance between any two points in the universe increasing. First, the
distance between A and B is a function of time and second, the distance is always increasing.
To really understand what this means and how one would define distance in such a model, it is
necessary to have some idea of what Einstein s theory of General Relativity (GR) is about: Space tells
matter how to move, matter tells space how to curve. Another way of describing GR would be
something like: Energy determines the geometry and changes in the geometry of the universe, and, in
turn, the geometry determines the movement of energy .
So, given this, how does one get BBT from GR? The basic equations come directly from Einstein s
GR equation under two key assumptions: First, that the distribution of matter and energy in the
universe is homogeneous and, second, that the distribution is isotropic. A simpler way to put this is
that the universe looks the same everywhere and in every direction = cosmological principle.
If we adopt these simple assumptions, the implications for the geometry of the universe are quite
profound. First, one

The Film, Boys Don’T Cry, Is A Commercial Film Based On
The film, Boys don t cry, is a commercial film based on a true story, which portrays the hellish life of
a young female to male transgender named Brandon, originally named Teena Brandon. The film
reveals the hardship and discrimination a transgender can, and most likely will, experiences in the
American society. With the film, Andy Bienen, co author, and Kimberly Peirce, co author and director
thought provokingly portray the deeply rooted homophobia and stigmatization of gays, lesbians, and
transgenders found in America. Both Bienen and Peirce bring to the audience s attention that
Heteronormativity results in stigmatization of gays and lesbians, that Sexual Preference implies a

This illustrates how homosexuals and transgenders have lost the innate human right to love and be
with who they want to. The brother, as a result of heteronormativity perpetuated by society, identified
being transgender as wrong and therefore tried to punish Brandon for his natural attraction.
Another important scene is when Brandon goes to a bar and meets a group of people who quickly
become his friends. In the bar he meets, Candance, John, Tom, and it is the first time he sees Lana. He
quickly makes friends with the guys and charms all the girls, as they ve never met anyone so sensitive.
He becomes part of the group and soon starts to date Lana. However, He neglects to tell his new group
that he is wanted in another city for GTA and other crimes of the sort and he also neglects to tell them
that he is transgender. The fact that he lies and hides this important part of his life is another example
of the stigmatization caused by heteronormativity. Additionally, it is an example of how homophobia
stems from the same roots as other prejudices. Brandon has neglected to tell his friends that he is
wanted and is transgender because both things will stigmatize him and

Imagery Pattern of Clouds in the Portrait of an Artist by...
The Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce is widely recognized by New Critics as one
of the greatest novels of its age for its aesthetic artistry. In the Portrait, a powerful autobiographical
novel of bildungsroman, commonly known as a coming of age story, that follows the life of Irish
protagonist Stephen Dedalus, Joyce portraits his momentous transition to adulthood as a passage of
psychological struggle towards his ultimate philosophical awakening and his spiritual rebirth as an
artist. Most visibly in Chapter Four of the novel, Stephen Dedalus, after the denial of his own
priesthood, goes on to seek his artistic personality through his secluded journey amongst a myriad of
natural elements. Dramatizing the Stephen s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He heard a confused music within him as of memories and names which he was almost conscious of
but could not capture even for an instant; then the music seemed to recede, to recede, to recede, and
from each receding trail of nebulous music there fell always one longdrawn calling note, piercing like
a star the dusk of silence. Again! Again! Again! A voice from beyond the world was calling. (107)
Here, Stephen instantly displays a strong intimacy with the wafting clouds as they draw his attention
away from the pressing commandments posed by the Christian decree. Personifying the clouds as the
wanderers with spirits as his companions, Stephen takes refuge amongst the aimless cloud to drift
across the boundless sky. Dappled and seaborne, Stephen admits himself not so purified and free of
desires as devoted Christian brothers, as well as his earthly origin that he is inevitably composed of.
Consequently, Stephen finds imagination to be his key towards his own enlightenment; just like the
capricious clouds, Stephen follows his imaginations and brings the perpetual beauty out of the
sluggish matter of the earth to its sublimity across the clear sky (108). Joyce also portraits clouds as
the mild framers of the sunlight, an indirect contrast with the conventional square framed windows at
the church that Stephen

Private Health Insurance
The United States is currently a mess when it comes to health insurance. Everyone needs health
insurance, but we need to remain at private health insurance because if we don t have the money to
fund for it then we d be without health insurance. Research shows that we aren t getting our money s
worth when it comes to health insurance. The United States need health insurance and there are many
different types of health insurance that you may find suitable for you. For instance a single payer

Reaction Paper On Joan Of Arc
Joan of Arc was an illiterate and extremely religious woman born into the peasant family of her father
Jacques d Arc, a farmer in the village of Dorémy, and her mother Isabelle Romée in Lorraine on the
6th of January in 1412. In her own time, she earned the title of heroine by assisting Charles VII, the
current monarch of France, in reclaiming France from English ownership during a late phase of the
Hundred Years War, a prolonged conflict between England and France for the domination of Western
Europe. She was sent to provide support at the siege of Orléans, which resulted in a victory for France
after nine days of Joan s presence. She met her fiery demise at the stake on the 30th of May, 1431 after
being captured on the 23rd of May a year prior by Burgundian faction, whom was allied with the
English. Despite this, Joan of Arc was what would be considered an outcast in her time period. At the
time, women weren t seen as war heroes, but rather maids and housewives. Joan breaks this status
quota because she believed to be required to drive the English out of France out of God s will. In the
end, Joan was successful in her mission at the Siege of Orleans and was dubbed a heroine of France.
However, Joan was tasked with overcoming the struggles of reaching a position to serve her mission,
as well the battles she was tasked to lead soldiers of France into, which in turn made her a figure
which generations to come would look up to.
Joan of Arc faced hardships far before she lead the successful Siege of Orleans, but she did not let this
prevent her from serving her divine mission. For example, when Joan was in her youth her village was
antagonized by the very force she was set to overcome: England s dominance over France, which led
to people who lived in her village being, Forced to abandon their homes under threat of invasion, (
Joan of Arc ). Additionally, shortly after she was given her God sent mission, she decided to protect
her chastity, although she had difficulty keeping this promise when her father made an attempt to
arrange a marriage to serve her original purpose as a thoroughly educated housewife when Joan
became 16 years of age. Fortunately, she was able to attain the assistance of a local court to

Summary Of Flight Of Persephone By Claudia Kuran
Throughout the history, art has played an irreplaceable role in shaping the culture by allowing human
beings to express themselves. Art is a great tool to thoroughly explore and understand the story of
humanity. Specifically, the oldest artifact was found in Africa, where humanity initiated. This artifact
was dated to 30,000 BC, when humans struggled to survive in harsh nature, yet a sense of creativity
was still kindled in them. Since then, art has become a timeless story teller of human civilizations,
including the Egyptian, Greek and Roman. Furthermore, art also witnessed glorious time periods in
human history, such as the Renaissance. Ancient art was not only a key milestone in human evolution,
but also a limitless source of inspiration for modern artists. In other words, a contemporary piece of
artwork can reflect ideas of art from the past in several ways. For instance, Flight of Persephone by

Review Of Jonathan Franzen s The Corrections
Author s Life: Jonathan Franzen was born August 17, 1959 in Western Springs, Illinois. He grew up in
Webster Groves, Missouri, raised by his two parents, Irene and Earl T. Franzen. Growing up, his
passion for writing was never praised in his household, especially by his parents. In a recent interview
held in an office at the University of California, Santa Cruz, Franzen was asked by interviewer
Stephen J. Burn, if his work was ever encouraged at home. Franzen responded, Mostly not, no. I hate
the word creative, but it s not a bad description of my personality type, and there was no place for that
in my parents house... it was actively discouraged as a serious pursuit. My parents were dismayed and
perplexed and angry when my older brother Tom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With little luck in Boston, the two moved to New York a few years later where Franzen sold his first
novel. The Twenty seventh City was his debut novel and was published in 1988 marking the
beginning of his career as a writer. In 1992, Franzen published his second novel, Strong Motion,
followed by eight years of hard work on his third novel, The Corrections, which was published in
2001. The Corrections was a huge success and became an international bestseller, got nominated for
several major book prizes, and was awarded the National Book Award. As well as being a phenomenal
novelist, Franzen also spends his time writing essays for the New Yorker magazine. The multiple
essays he had contributed to the New Yorker he later configured into his fourth novel, How to Be
Alone, which consists of fourteen of Franzen s essays. He published a memoir, The Discomfort Zone,
in 2006, followed by a 2010 novel by the name of Freedom. Freedom was a huge success, winning the
2011 John Gardner Prize for fiction and the Heartland Prize as well as leading Franzen to make an
appearance on the cover of Time magazine under the headline Great American Novelist. This
appearance is a huge honor as it was only the second time in the last decade that a living writer has

Evaluation Of The Performance Appraisal
Performance appraisals are used in business today as a means of providing critical feedback to
employees on their performance in the workplace. In a global environment, particular care needs to be
exercised to ensure the message delivered and received by employees is sensitive to the cultural
differences between the parties. This document will be discussing a situation where unintended
consequences arose during a performance appraisal. The document will provide for a synopsis of the
case study, background information, and some of the strengths and weaknesses of the performance
appraisal. A review of if the situation could have been avoided and should the supervisor have
anticipated the employee reaction will also be discussed. Finally, a review of culture sensitivity in
performance evaluations will be analyzed and to determine if the interaction style between the parties
was the reason for the ultimate outcome.

The Short Happy Life Of Francis Macomber
In Ernest Hemingway s short story The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber, Hemingway uses the
author s craft of perspective, along with dialogue and internal dialogue to create a multi part claim that
develops an overall negative characterization of the three main characters. Hemingway develops the
characterization of Wilson, Margaret, and Francis by using multiple perspectives as he threads a
negative tone throughout the story.
All throughout the story, readers are given the chance to look inside the mind of Wilson and see his
judgmental and self righteous personality. Readers are able to witness as he lays blame while avoiding
it himself, and how easily his judgment can change based off the situations he s in. At the beginning of

Without Hemingway s use of Wilson s inner dialogue readers wouldn t know what his thoughts on the
affair are, neither would they know about his biased and role giving ways. Despite his prior judgments
of Francis, near the end of the story Wilson shows a shift in his judgment when Francis, filled with
anger, chases down and kills some buffalo. He says that Francis would Be a damn fire eater now and
that Francis had his Fear gone like an operation. Because Francis gains the courage to hunt the buffalo
without falter, Wilson believes that he is a real man now. This shows the shift in Wilson s judgment of
Francis, as well as how he perceives the role that Francis should fill. He views Francis as a coward
who had never truly came of age before the buffalo hunt, which shows that Wilson believes that men
should be fearless and able to hunt. Without Wilson s perspective readers wouldn t realize the amount
of shift Wilson had in his judgment, nor would they have as much insight on Wilson s ideals and
standards. By allowing the readers to view multiple perspectives, the author allows the readers to see
the judgmental, self biased, and role giving side of Wilson. He shows the growth of Wilson

Definition Of Effective Leadership And Leadership
Scripture has much to say in regards to leadership and those in positions of leadership. The Bible tells
us that leaders are to lead with integrity and values that govern the heart. So he shepherded them
according to the integrity of his heart, and guided them with skillful hands. (Psalm 78:72 NKJV)
Unfortunately, that is not the practice of many in leadership, often leaders operate with a public set of
values that differs from that of their private life. The definition of effective leadership has changed
from character driven leadership to results oriented leadership and is now determined by the results a
leader produces, as long as the leader is producing good results, the private life of a leader has no
bearing on the situation. (Rima, 2000) While it is true, that leaders can, for a time, engage in a quality
practice of leadership that differs from their personal life and produce positive results, eventually, the
destructive behaviors of their personal life will affect and influence their public life and may result in
failure and scandal.
The dangers of this dichotomy are leaders that are emotionally or psychologically unhealthy and the
end result is leaders that lack integrity and depth of character. The consequence of this philosophy is
failed businesses and churches, ineffective governments, broken marriages and families. This
disconnect between the public and private life has led to a major distrust and wariness of public
leaders. Rima believes that the root cause

Robespierre Accomplishments
Maximilien Marie Isidore de Robespierre was born on May 6, 1758 in Arras, France. He was born to a
wealthy lawyer and went on to take on the same profession. Unlike his father, he also played a key
part in the Jacobian party and the French Revolution. Robespierre became popular due to his
opposition of the King Louis XIV of France but once he gained power, he was instantly unpopular. He
issued the arrest of more than 300,000 suspected enemies of the Committee and about 27,000 of those
prisoners died to either neglect or execution. This ushered in the time known as the Reign of Terror. In
May 1789, Maximilien Robespierre was elected the representative of the Arras commoners in the
Estates General, which was a parliament like organization that didn t hold any real power. During his
time with this, he gained popularity by his public disagreement with the king and his advocacy for
reforms. He became an influential member of the Revolution when the Third Estates established itself
as the National Assembly. Robespierre became known as the incorruptible due to his immense
dedication to the importance of civic morality. In April 1790, Robespierre was elected the leader of the
Jacobians, which was an organization of peasants and priests who were horrified by ... Show more

Elaine Riots Essay
The Elaine Riots The Elaine Massacre was one of the most destructive racial dispute that had taken
place in Arkansas history and perhaps, the bloodiest racial rivalry in the history of the United States.
While its inmost origin lies in the United States dedication to white superiority, the events in Elaine
were emanated from strained race affiliates and expanding sympathy regarding the labor unions. A
firing incident that took place at a meeting of the Progressive Farmers and the Household Union
inflated into throng brutality on the part of the white people in Elaine and the nearby areas. Despite,
the perfect number is unidentified, a huge number of African Americans were killed by the white s
territory that was around hundreds; and five white people lost their lives. The strife had taken place on
the night of September 30, 1919, when nearly hundreds of African Americans, essentially peasants on
the plantations of white landlords, organized a meeting for the Progressive Farmers and the Household
Union of America at Hoop Spur, that was three miles north of Elaine. The motive of the meeting was
that the black peasants in the Elaine area for the past few months were attaining better refund for their
cotton crops from the white ranch owners who managed the area during the Jim Crow era. Black
peasants were often abused, ill treated in their attempts to collect a pension for their cotton crops.
During the past few months, a racial dispute had taken place in

Dating Profile Essay
Dating Profile
Literature analysis includes creative character analysis, which takes a critical view of a story s
character. Sometimes this is the protagonist, the antagonist, or the study might focus on a minor
character as circumstance dictates (Robison, 2006). One method of exploring a character s interior
workings is to create a dating profile, as one might post to an online dating website. Building on what
is known of a character, the exercise describes their attributes, qualities, interests, passions, and
direction, a self summary synthesis that makes new connections and creates a deeper understanding of
the concept of the character... (Szewczyk, n.d., p. 5).

Women Athletic Trainers in the NFL
Women in the National Football League The NFL is a man s world where each and every man is out
on the field to show off his athleticism. Every aspect of the game, whether it is on the field or on the
side lines, is predominately male. However, there is an area of the NFL that women could become a
part of. Women could become athletic trainers for the NFL. An athletic trainer is a health care
specialist that focuses on prevention of injury and rehab to recuperate athletes (Summary). Currently
there are no women employed in the NFL although one woman used to work for the Pittsburgh
Steelers (Mihoces). There are many people that agree that women should be able to work in the NFL,
but there are also many people that do not believe women ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is unnerving to have a woman in the same room while players are showering and changing. It is also
awkward for the female athletic trainer to be present when men all around her are changing and
showering. A second argument for those who oppose is that women are seen as pushovers in the
training room. Stereotypically, women are seen as dainty, elegant people that cannot stand up in an
authority position over the gigantic football brutes. Likewise, it is awkward for a female athletic
trainer to demonstrate her power over the coach. If the athletic trainer believes that the team needs a
water break, it is his or her obligation to inform the coach, and sometimes it can get pretty dicey
between the athletic trainer and the coach. Also, if an athletic trainer will not clear a player to be able
to return to play, the coach and the athletic trainer can become very argumentative and irrational. If the
athletic trainer is female, the coach believes that she will hold grudges like most other females they
know. The final argument is that women can be a distraction to the players. If there is a female on the
field, the players could get distracted and not be able to focus clearly on the task at hand. Almost
following the same line, there is a big hazard potential. Sexual harassment is a big issue in any work
environment, but imagine how much more of a hazard this would be. The hazard potential of sexual
harassment

Minimum Legal Drinking Age Should the drinking age be lowered from 21 to a younger age? Ever
since the end of prohibition in 1933 the United States government has placed the issue of minimum
legal drinking age sensitively in the hands of the states, letting each decide for itself what the
minimum age should be. At that time all agreed that the minimum legal drinking age should be 21,
where it remained for all states until 1970.Between 1970, and 1975 a number of states played around
with the idea of lowering that age to 20, 19, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also argue of the lowering the MLDA argue the teens have not yet reached an age where they
can handle alcohol responsibly, and thus are more likely to harm or even kill themselves and others by
drinking prior to 21. They contend the traffic fatalities decreased when MLDA increased. The repeal
of alcohol prohibition by the 21st amendment on December 5, 1933 allowed each state to set its own
alcohol consumption law. In the time, some states established the minimum legal drinking age for
alcohol at 21 years old. However, two states set a minimum legal drinking age of 21 for men and 18
for woman.
In the U.S. Supreme Court Casa Craig V. borne ruled 7 2 that his age difference violence violated the
equal protection clause of the 14th amendment, which lowered the legal voting age from 21 to 18
years old. 30 U.S. states lowered the MLDA to 18, 19, or 20 by 1982, on 14 states still had MLDA of
21. Some of the consumption of alcohol by people under 21 is generally legal across the United States.
However, 45 states have set exceptions that allow underage drinking consumption of alcohol in certain
circumstances. For example, underage drinking is allowed in 29 states if done on private premises
with parental consents, 25 states if for religious purposes and two states if for educational purposes.
The discrepancy between the MLDA and the age of majority and many responsibilities and authorities

A New Drug Development Process
Introduction: A new drug development process starts with animal testing, before it is been tested in
humans. These animal studies are designed to ensure that the drug is effective and safe in animals.
Moreover, the results obtained should be reproducible. But even the reproducible results on animal
studies cannot provide relevant prediction of the safe and effectiveness of a new drug. Scientists often
stipulate the structural and physiological similarities between human and animals as a reason for
performing animal testing and then relating or extrapolating the results for the first in human clinical
testing, also known as Phase I clinical trials. Although, it is very clear that the human life expectancy
is much higher compared to animals, because of the way things metabolize in human body, or to the
environment a human body is exposed to or due to the minute genetic difference between human
species and some other species. Also, diseases which are imposed by genetic engineering into the
animals during animal studies differ significantly than the natural occurrence of a disease. Scientists
are aware of these flaws that come with the use of animal model testing, like drugs that may be safe
and effective in animals might not necessarily be safe and effective in humans. One such example is
Thalidomide , which was used in 1950 s as a sedative product and was used to treat morning sickness
of pregnant women. This drug was totally safe and effective in animals, but when used

  • 3. Thanks For Accepting Famousdebater And Good Luck My Friend Thanks for accepting Famousdebater and good luck my friend! Framework: Based on the definitions given in round one, we see this debate rests on ethics. That is, whether the individual or society is ethically paramount. Thus, it should be obvious that the framework for this debate could only reasonably be set on how morality is determined. Once determined all that is left is to apply ethics to our question. An Intro To Ethics: Utilitarianism Famousdebater and I Identify as Utilitarian s, and as it is widely accepted moral world view. Here is a basic overview of utilitarian ethics. Ethics delves into what ought to be rather than what is. Henry Sidgwick rightly points out a typical flaw made when determining what ought to be done, or in other words, what is ethical. we frequently prescribe that this or that `ought to be done or aimed at without any express reference to an ulterior end, (1) As John Stuart Mill says All action is for the sake of some end. In order to determine what we ought do we must observe what the results will be from that action. What ends are produced? all the rules of conduct which men prescribe to one another as moral rules are really though in part unconsciously prescribed as a means to the general happiness of mankind, Henry Sidgwick (2)This is basic utilitarianism, The Greatest good for the greatest number. However, Mr. Das doesn t think that he should help her because he felt insulted that Mrs. Das should ask him to interpret her common, trivial little secret. (99). Both characters illustrate misinterpretation because Mr. Kapasi thought of Mrs. Das a romantic companion, but Mrs. Das assumed Mr. Kapasi as someone who could help her with her problem because he worked as an interpreter. A last example of misinterpretation in communication is shown when Mr. Kapasi obliges to Mrs. Das request and the answer he gives asks if what Mrs. Das felt was really pain or if it was just guilt. It s Mrs. Das who demonstrates the misinterpretation when she glared at Mr. Kapasi....opened the car door and began walking up the path (99). Federal Budget Analysis Reading the Federal Budget The federal budget is a vital part of every country because the future spending totally depends on the number of money earned by the country during the year. The governments create a special commission that is obliged to form a well established government, with the fair distribution of money. The National Priorities Project (NPP) is a unique non profit organization that presents the budget system to ordinary citizens and makes it fully transparent and accessible, so everyone who wants can see where do the government collect money, and the spend it during the fiscal year. They created a system with numerous taxes and fees that affect every part of human life, so even when somebody buys a little sandwich, some amount of money also goes to the budget. This system of taxes and fees was created with the early establishment of the country and develops from year to year. Sometimes when the government needs more money to spend, they just create an additional tax that will raise enough money. According to the National Priorities Project (NPP), the federal government raises trillions of dollars in tax revenue each year, and for example, during the 2015 fiscal year, the government earned $3.18 trillion. So, the main sources of American budget are taxes and other fees, but they also differ from each other. According to the National Priorities Project (NPP), the three main types of taxes are, income taxes paid by individuals, payroll taxes paid jointly by workers and employers, and corporate income taxes paid by businesses. Between these three types of taxes, the income taxes play the biggest role (near 50%), so it is clear that national budget is formed by ordinary citizens who pay their taxes. Some of the citizens are not satisfied with such distribution and believes, that corporations and business owners should play the biggest role in taxation, while ordinary citizens should pay lower taxes. Despite this controversy, the modern taxation system was formed many years ago, and nowadays it performs well, so there is no direct reason to change ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Ethical And Moral Issues Of The Adoption Essay With adoption there are often many issues that can arise. The issues during an adoption can range from ethical, moral, to legal issues. One might think there could be many legal issues when it comes to an adoption, but not many may think of the ethical and moral issues that can come about in the adoption process. Ethical issues can arise in the post adoption process by the way of wrongful adoption liability. This issue pertains to two categories, fraud as the basis for wrongful adoption, and negligence as the basis for wrongful adoption. This issue has been decided in many court cases. In many of these cases the mother uses one of these arguments as a basis to try to revoke the adoption, and gain back their parental rights. The fraud as a basis for wrongful adoption is deliberately providing inaccurate material background information. (AFFCNY, 2016) While the negligence basis is carelessly not providing material, and background information. At least 17 states and the District of Columbia have adoption laws providing a specified number of days after signing a relinquishment (ranging from three to 30 days) during which birthparents can revoke their decisions without having to prove fraud or best interests of the child. (Smith, 2006) The next ethical issue that commonly comes up is the best interests of the child. • 9. The Slavery Of The South The South, on the other hand, was highly dependent upon the institution of slavery. It was still primarily an agricultural society that needed as many laborers as possible in order for the plantation owners to make ends meet. According to historian Douglas Harper, In 1793 came the cotton gin, which brought a 50 fold increase in the average daily output of short staple cotton, promoted the rapid expansion of a cotton kingdom across the Deep South, and made large scale slavery profitable. Because of this, the slave became an essential tool to the farmers of the south; more money became invested in slavery rather than in industrial improvements. Based upon the 1860 U.S. Census, there were almost a whopping total of four million slaves in the South alone. In fact, the more slaves an owner had, the more prestige. Most slave owners owned fewer than five slaves, and only 12 percent of Southerners had twenty or more slaves. Many whites who had no slaves looked with envy upon the wealthy, and to a degree admired them. This hierarchy had a clearly defined social structure which created distinctions between rich and poor whites as well as racial segregation. This agricultural society and its strict hierarchy only increased the social and racial disparities found in the southern region of the United States. These differences in cultures inevitably led to the difference in Bible interpretations. These different interpretations occurred primarily in response to the moral debate ... Spoiled, but Not a Brat Diquan Lamar Hubbard Introduction to College Writing Professor Sophie Bradford October 19, 2012 Spoiled, but not a Brat The ideal spoiled child does not come to mind easily. I observed people around campus, but I think one of the perfect examples of a spoiled child is Angelica Pickles from the popular Nickelodeon show Rugrats. Angelica showed characteristics that made her stand out as an antagonist. She would refer to the other characters as dumb babies. Angelica would show how selfish she was by convincing the other characters to do plans that would only benefit her, which set her up most of the time as the antagonist in each episode. She would receive gifts to her heart s desire and not be the least bit thankful. Her parents set ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She is constantly being taught things from her father that will make her into a well off college student. She explained that she had to do the same things as most other normal kids and that she got this philosophy from her father who did not start out as an oil tycoon, but worked his way up. I have also seen a counter example in a people that may not be rich, but they were brats. I was in program called Upward Bound, while I was in high school. Upward Bound was created for at risk teens that may not have come from the wealthiest of homes and they are usually first generation college students. While I was in Upward Bound it was common to see people with nice things, but they had worked for them. They wore expensive clothes; they had all kinds of expensive technology like MacBook s and iPads. A lot of them worked too and they would off set the cost of a lot of their things. Rather, it describes the development of the universe over time. This process is often called cosmic evolution . Over the last several decades the basic picture of cosmology given by BBT has been generally accepted by astronomers, physicists and the wider scientific community. However, no similar consensus has been reached on ideas about the ultimate origin of the universe. This remains an area of active research and some of idea current ideas are discussed below. In both cases, the model implies that the universe is expanding into some larger, pre existing volume. In fact, the theory says nothing like that. Instead, the expansion of the universe is completely self contained. People often have difficulty with the idea that space itself expands . An easier way to understand this concept is to think of it as the distance between any two points in the universe increasing. First, the distance between A and B is a function of time and second, the distance is always increasing. To really understand what this means and how one would define distance in such a model, it is necessary to have some idea of what Einstein s theory of General Relativity (GR) is about: Space tells matter how to move, matter tells space how to curve. Another way of describing GR would be something like: Energy determines the geometry and changes in the geometry of the universe, and, in turn, the geometry determines the movement of energy . So, given this, how does one get BBT from GR? The basic equations come directly from Einstein s GR equation under two key assumptions: First, that the distribution of matter and energy in the universe is homogeneous and, second, that the distribution is isotropic. A simpler way to put this is that the universe looks the same everywhere and in every direction = cosmological principle. If we adopt these simple assumptions, the implications for the geometry of the universe are quite profound. First, one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce is widely recognized by New Critics as one of the greatest novels of its age for its aesthetic artistry. In the Portrait, a powerful autobiographical novel of bildungsroman, commonly known as a coming of age story, that follows the life of Irish protagonist Stephen Dedalus, Joyce portraits his momentous transition to adulthood as a passage of psychological struggle towards his ultimate philosophical awakening and his spiritual rebirth as an artist. Again! Again! Again! A voice from beyond the world was calling. Personifying the clouds as the wanderers with spirits as his companions, Stephen takes refuge amongst the aimless cloud to drift across the boundless sky. Dappled and seaborne, Stephen admits himself not so purified and free of desires as devoted Christian brothers, as well as his earthly origin that he is inevitably composed of. Consequently, Stephen finds imagination to be his key towards his own enlightenment; just like the capricious clouds, Stephen follows his imaginations and brings the perpetual beauty out of the sluggish matter of the earth to its sublimity across the clear sky (108). Reaction Paper On Joan Of Arc Joan of Arc was an illiterate and extremely religious woman born into the peasant family of her father Jacques d Arc, a farmer in the village of Dorémy, and her mother Isabelle Romée in Lorraine on the 6th of January in 1412. In her own time, she earned the title of heroine by assisting Charles VII, the current monarch of France, in reclaiming France from English ownership during a late phase of the Hundred Years War, a prolonged conflict between England and France for the domination of Western Europe. She was sent to provide support at the siege of Orléans, which resulted in a victory for France after nine days of Joan s presence. She met her fiery demise at the stake on the 30th of May, 1431 after being captured on the 23rd of May a year prior by Burgundian faction, whom was allied with the English. Despite this, Joan of Arc was what would be considered an outcast in her time period. At the time, women weren t seen as war heroes, but rather maids and housewives. Joan breaks this status quota because she believed to be required to drive the English out of France out of God s will. In the end, Joan was successful in her mission at the Siege of Orleans and was dubbed a heroine of France. However, Joan was tasked with overcoming the struggles of reaching a position to serve her mission, as well the battles she was tasked to lead soldiers of France into, which in turn made her a figure which generations to come would look up to. Joan of Arc faced hardships far before she lead the successful Siege of Orleans, but she did not let this prevent her from serving her divine mission. The Bible tells us that leaders are to lead with integrity and values that govern the heart. So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, and guided them with skillful hands. (Psalm 78:72 NKJV) Unfortunately, that is not the practice of many in leadership, often leaders operate with a public set of values that differs from that of their private life. The definition of effective leadership has changed from character driven leadership to results oriented leadership and is now determined by the results a leader produces, as long as the leader is producing good results, the private life of a leader has no bearing on the situation. (Rima, 2000) While it is true, that leaders can, for a time, engage in a quality practice of leadership that differs from their personal life and produce positive results, eventually, the destructive behaviors of their personal life will affect and influence their public life and may result in failure and scandal. The dangers of this dichotomy are leaders that are emotionally or psychologically unhealthy and the end result is leaders that lack integrity and depth of character. The consequence of this philosophy is failed businesses and churches, ineffective governments, broken marriages and families. If the athletic trainer believes that the team needs a water break, it is his or her obligation to inform the coach, and sometimes it can get pretty dicey between the athletic trainer and the coach. Also, if an athletic trainer will not clear a player to be able to return to play, the coach and the athletic trainer can become very argumentative and irrational. If the athletic trainer is female, the coach believes that she will hold grudges like most other females they know. The final argument is that women can be a distraction to the players. If there is a female on the field, the players could get distracted and not be able to focus clearly on the task at hand. Almost following the same line, there is a big hazard potential. Sexual harassment is a big issue in any work environment, but imagine how much more of a hazard this would be. The hazard potential of sexual harassment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ever since the end of prohibition in 1933 the United States government has placed the issue of minimum legal drinking age sensitively in the hands of the states, letting each decide for itself what the minimum age should be. At that time all agreed that the minimum legal drinking age should be 21, where it remained for all states until 1970.Between 1970, and 1975 a number of states played around with the idea of lowering that age to 20, 19, and ... They also argue of the lowering the MLDA argue the teens have not yet reached an age where they can handle alcohol responsibly, and thus are more likely to harm or even kill themselves and others by drinking prior to 21. They contend the traffic fatalities decreased when MLDA increased. The repeal of alcohol prohibition by the 21st amendment on December 5, 1933 allowed each state to set its own alcohol consumption law. In the time, some states established the minimum legal drinking age for alcohol at 21 years old. However, two states set a minimum legal drinking age of 21 for men and 18 for woman. In the U.S. Supreme Court Casa Craig V. borne ruled 7 2 that his age difference violence violated the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment, which lowered the legal voting age from 21 to 18 years old. 30 U.S. states lowered the MLDA to 18, 19, or 20 by 1982, on 14 states still had MLDA of 21. Some of the consumption of alcohol by people under 21 is generally legal across the United States. However, 45 states have set exceptions that allow underage drinking consumption of alcohol in certain circumstances. For example, underage drinking is allowed in 29 states if done on private premises with parental consents, 25 states if for religious purposes and two states if for educational purposes. • 33. A New Drug Development Process Introduction: A new drug development process starts with animal testing, before it is been tested in humans. These animal studies are designed to ensure that the drug is effective and safe in animals. Moreover, the results obtained should be reproducible. But even the reproducible results on animal studies cannot provide relevant prediction of the safe and effectiveness of a new drug. Scientists often stipulate the structural and physiological similarities between human and animals as a reason for performing animal testing and then relating or extrapolating the results for the first in human clinical testing, also known as Phase I clinical trials. Although, it is very clear that the human life expectancy is much higher compared to animals, because of the way things metabolize in human body, or to the environment a human body is exposed to or due to the minute genetic difference between human species and some other species. Also, diseases which are imposed by genetic engineering into the animals during animal studies differ significantly than the natural occurrence of a disease. Scientists are aware of these flaws that come with the use of animal model testing, like drugs that may be safe and effective in animals might not necessarily be safe and effective in humans. One such example is Thalidomide , which was used in 1950 s as a sedative product and was used to treat morning sickness of pregnant women. This drug was totally safe and effective in animals, but when used ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
