Stanza 5 Of Tao Te Ching s
Stanza 5 of the Tao Te Ching tells us of desires and their limits. The first half of the stanza reference
actions of survival (filling the bowl and sharpening the knife), and that although these actions are
needed, there comes a point where we clearly stepped over a limit. The second half references desires
(wealth and approval) that blind us as we chase them. A fault of today s society is the need to overfill
our bowls and chase fortune , born from humanity s persistence in wanting improvements. This
persistence is a flaw and a strength, that has brought to us poverty and innovation. Do your work, then
step back. The only path to serenity. Perhaps if we could find fulfillment in the average, then we may
be faced with less problems. Stanza

Cancer Screening
Care Services and Cancer Screenings
There are a wide variety of cancer types. They all have several things in common, however. Each
cancer starts with cells that become abnormal or cancerous. These cells reproduce and form a mass of
cancerous cells. This mass is called a tumor. When the cancerous cells spread, or metastasize, they can
impact other tissues, organs, and systems of the body. A second commonality among cancers is that
when they are detected early, they are easier to treat and the treatments are more likely to work. In
many cases, a cancer that is caught early can be completely destroyed.
The primary way to detect cancer is through cancer screenings. Screening are simply routine checks
that take place prior to body showing signs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The benefits far outweigh those risks, but it is still important to be informed. Some of the risks of
cancer screenings include false positive results that lead to great emotional turmoil and/or needless
treatment; false negative results, which give a person undue confidence in their health when they
actually have a serious condition; and actual damage to the body during the test, such a punctured
colon during a colonoscopy.
It is also important to remember that screenings can only detect cancer. They are not a cure, and even
if the cancer is detected, it does not mean that the cancer will always be eradicated. Early detections
does significantly increase the odds of success, however.
Senior care services can help your senior loved one keep up on their annual exams and schedule
screenings as necessary. Further, they are able to provide the transportation to and from appointments.
This is particularly important with screening such as a colonoscopy where anesthesia is used. Senior
care personnel can also be there to provide care for your loved one while they are recovering from
these procedures, as some can be quite

Analysis Of Forrester s Cloud Computing Essay
AUTHORS: SATYAJEET BINWADE ROLL NO.: 1941 (FE9) ASHISH MOKASHI ROLL NO.:
1913 (FE9) INTRODUCTION Forrester defines cloud computing as: A pool of abstracted, highly
scalable and managed compute infrastructure capable of hosting end customer and applications billed
by consumption. As the name suggests, cloud computing is a way of storing the data on a server
instead of a hardware so that we can access the data from the compatible devices. This method gives
us more ease of accessibility and we can also secure our data by giving limited access through a
username and password to the server being used. Nowadays, most of the people use mobile phones
which have an internal memory of 8 GB or 16 GB. If we need extra memory then we shall have to
extend it using a memory card. If the inbuilt memory of mobile phone would be more, the cost of
production will increase, resulting in decrease in market of the device. And as we all know, the
support to external storage like memory card is also limited for a phone. It is problematic to carry a
pen drive along with us everywhere. The other problem is the data stored is vulnerable to viruses. To
overcome these problems, cloud computing was introduced. This gives freedom to access or share
data without hardware. Cloud services exhibits of online file storage, social networking sites, web
mail and online business applications. These are the services which changed the face of networking.
By this facility we can upload,

Common Themes In Kurt Vonnegut s Harrison Bergeron
Research Harrison Bergeron In Kurt Vonnegut short story Harrison Bergeron , he shows a theme
where people are perfectly equal by normalizing everyone to the point of no freedom for the talented.
The story tells a tale that warns Americans of the dangers of creating a truly equalitarian society in
which its citizens sacrifice their individuality and freedom to the government in order to create a place
where all men are created equal. Equality is a beloved principle enshrined in America s Declaration of
Independence in the phrase All men are created equal, but Vonnegut suggests that the ideals of
egalitarianism can be dangerous if they are interpreted too literally. One of the points that Vonnegut
show is when the government is given far too much power and due to the handicap radio the people
are passive and ignorant. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

However after he make all that display and strip them of their handicap and allowed them to be what

main character George and his wife Hazel don t seem to recalled that event despite watching it in front

how Vonnegut story is very similar to the Cold Wars where America was against Soviet Russia.

General Mechanism: i) Hello Packets: Used in order to establish relationships with the neighboring
routers in a topology. On multi access segments ad point to point segments, the default time to send
hello packets is every 10 seconds and for non broadcast multi access (NMBA) segments like frame
relay, the default time is every 30 seconds. ii) Dead Intervals: Wait period for an OSPF router before
termination the relationship with its neighbor is called as Dead interval and is 4 times the hello
interval. iii) Router Id: Identification of each OSPF router in an OSPF routing domain is exclusively
by the router id. OSPF router can chose highest IP address of its loopback interface incase router id is
not configured. IP address will be chosen by the OSPF router of any of its physical interfaces in
absence of loopback interfaces. iv) Area Id: In OSPF routing domain the areas are defined as
backbone routers also known as area 0, area border routers (ABR), which connect the backbone
routers to any other areas in the OSPF routing domain and autonomous system border routers
(ABSR), which are located between OSPF autonomous system and non OSPF autonomous system.
All OSPF routers in the same routing domain must receive and maintain the same link state
information. OSPF routing domain must be designed with a backbone area and all the other areas

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is on the Raise Essay
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is defined as mental health disorder triggered by a terrifying
event (Mayo Clinic). This ordeal could be the result of some sort of physical harm or threat to the
individual, family members, friends or even strangers (NIMH). While PTSD is typically associated
with someone who has served in the military, it can affect more than just that genre of individuals. It
could affect rape victims, victims in a terrorist or natural disaster incident, nurses, doctors, and police
and fire personnel and bystanders. PTSD can manifest itself in many forms. The primary signs and
symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder include but are not limited to re experiencing symptoms

2013). A study was done on 810 nurses from a University hospital by having them fill out a detailed
questionnaire. Of the 810 nurses, 332 responded by completing their questionnaire. The results
showed that 22% had symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and 61% met the diagnostic criteria
of PTSD (Depressed Anxiety, 2009). This study shows a high rate of PTSD among nurses but the
percentages could be higher due to many not reporting or admitting they have symptoms. Another
study done in Australia showed that nurses in remote areas are more likely to experience violent
crimes in the workplace which can lead to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. In this study 349 nurses
working in remote areas of Australia responded. 88.5% were female in the age range of 20 68 years. In
the 12 months preceding the survey, the workplace violence incidents that were the highest are verbal
aggression (79.5%), property damage (31.6%), and physical violence (28.6%) (trends in workplace
violence in remote areas). This survey provides a statistically significant correlation between
workplace violence and PTSD symptoms. It is no surprise that Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is on
the rise and is considered an occupational hazard for nurses. The National Institute of Mental Health
calculates that 7.7 million adults or 3.5 % of the adult population

Leadership Theories
LEADERSHIP THEORIES.
1. Great Man Theories:
Have you ever heard someone described as born to lead? According to this point of view, great leaders
are simply born with the necessary internal characteristics such as charisma, confidence, intelligence,
and social skills that make them natural born leaders.
Great man theories assume that the capacity for leadership is inherent that great leaders are born, not
made. These theories often portray great leaders as heroic, mythic and destined to rise to leadership
when needed. The term Great Man was used because, at the time, leadership was thought of primarily
as a male quality, especially in terms of military leadership.
2. Trait Theories:
Similar in some ways to Great Man theories, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
5. Behavioral Theories:
Behavioral theories of leadership are based upon the belief that great leaders are made, not born.
Consider it the flip side of the Great Man theories. Rooted in behaviorism, this leadership theory
focuses on the actions of leaders not on mental qualities or internal states. According to this theory,
people can learn to become leaders through teaching and observation.
Behavioral theories focus on how leaders behave. For instance, do leaders dictate what needs to be
done and expect cooperation? Or do they involve their teams in decision making to encourage
acceptance and support?
In the 1930s, Kurt Lewin developed a framework based on a leader s behavior. He argued that there
are three types of leaders:
1. Autocratic leaders make decisions without consulting their teams. This style of leadership is
considered appropriate when decisions need to be made quickly, when there s no need for input, and
when team agreement isn t necessary for a successful outcome.
2. Democratic leaders allow the team to provide input before making a decision, although the degree
of input can vary from leader to leader. This style is important when team agreement matters, but it
can be difficult to manage when there are lots of different perspectives and ideas.
3. Laissez faire leaders don t interfere; they allow people within the team to make many of the
decisions. This works well when the team is highly capable, is motivated, and doesn t need

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Research Paper
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow became one of the most beloved poets because of his exceptional
writing skills and has largely impacted America today in many ways. The way in which he presented
his style within his writings is unique and remarkable, and the reason why he is widely popular. Henry
Wadsworth Longfellow was one of America s most prolific poets of his time, and helped shape
American character through his manipulation of the English language. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
was born on February 27, 1807 in Portland, Maine to Stephen Longfellow and Zilpah Wadsworth
(Gartner). Longfellow was born into a wealthy family of lawyers and was sent to school at the young
age of three, preparing him and his brothers for college. ( Henry Wadsworth Longfellow ). By the time

One of Longfellow s famous poems, A Psalm of Life, includes many distinctive literary devices that
he consistently used throughout his works. One device, rhythm, is Longfellow s signature throughout
all of these poems. In A Psalm of Life, the rhyme scheme is presented as a simple ABAB. This can be
seen in phrases such as, Tell me not in mournful numbers...for the soul is dead that slumbers. ( A
Psalm of Life ). Rhyming is a prominent literary device throughout his poems as he did write lyric
poems which focused on emotions and had songlike qualities.
The legacy and influence of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was not short lived. In fact, many English
teachers teach on his poetry today because they believe it is easier to understand, and more effective at
preparing students for understanding complex poetry. Longfellow is also known for the various
catchphrases we use today, such as, footprints on the sands of time

Romance In Nathaniel Hawthorne s Blithedale Romance
Nathaniel Hawthorne s Blithedale Romance, rather than being considered a novel, should be
considered with the distinction of a romance. The beginnings of the book are heavily laden with
symbols and allusions to the supernatural along with romantic interests, both characteristic of a
romance. Coverdale consistently discusses the Veiled Lady and claims Zenobia is an enchantress,
actually saying in Chapter Six that Zenobia is an enchantress! He continues, she is a sister of the
Veiled Lady! That flower in her hair is a talisman. If you were to snatch it away, she would vanish; or
be transformed into something else (45)! The presence of the supernatural is anything but lacking in
this romance. Coverdale in his narration believes Zenobia s

The Book Of Haggah By Zechariah
The author of the book is Zechariah, he whom the lord remembers. The book was written to the Jews
in Jerusalem that had returned from their captivity in Babylon. The book was written in and around
520 B.C. The major theme of the book, is rebuilding the Temple, only the first step. When we read
Zechariah, it is almost like reading Haggai all over again. The messages are very similar and they are
written around the same time. There was said to be a year between the two and their message of
encouragement. The biggest difference of the two writings is that in Zechariah s account, words like
Messiah and Kingdom appear. There is more prophecy in Zechariah s account than there was in
Haggai. There is nothing negative about this; I liken it unto ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Like Israel, we too loose focus a lot, in our day to day lives. There are so many distractions; I truly

puts us in the mind set of an Revelation or Daniel. It s hard not to get caught up in the apocalyptic
style of writing. The writer sucks you in to this almost dream world before you have to pull back and
reexamine were you were and the real message that he s conveying. To keep it simple his message was
about encouraging the people to finish what they had started. Rebuilding the temple, throwing in the
golden nuggets about the Messiah would come. After the temple was completed, Zechariah gave
several prophecies about Israel s future. It vividly describes the first and second coming of our lord
and Savior Jesus Christ. This book contains more about the person, work, and glory of Christ than any
other minor prophets combined. Israel s king would come, but his people would reject him. They
would later repent and be restored to God. The king is going to come again for the Judgment, we pray
that when he comes again that we have been faithful and he will find us pure in his sight. The building
of the temple is important here. Our bodies are our temple and we must continue to work on them
until Christ comes again to claim us, the Church the people of

a ship comes by at some point; try to sail across Drake s Passage in a 22 foot lifeboat while battling

Cooking Is The Art And Science Of Cooking
Introduction:
Cooking is the art and science of preparing food for eating by the application of heat . It includes full
range of culinary techniques: preparing raw, cooked foods for the table; final dressing of meats, fish,
and fowl; cleaning, cutting fruits, vegetables; preparing salads; garnishing dishes, planning meals.
Origins of cooking are obscure. Primitive humans have savored roast meat, flesh of beast killed in
forest fire was found to be more palatable and easier to chew and digest than the customary raw meat.
However roasting spitted meats over fires remained virtually the sole culinary technique until the
Paleolithic Period, when the Aurignacian people of southern France began to steam their food over hot
embers by wrapping it in wet leaves. Aside from such hard procedures as toasting wild grains on flat
rocks and using shells, skulls, or hollowed stones to heat liquids, no further culinary advances were
made. So advancement in cooking techniques made culinary methods improved with the introduction
of earthenware and introduction of pottery during Neolithic Period . The cooking techniques of
boiling, stewing, braising, and perhaps even incipient forms of pickling, frying, and oven baking were
added. Early cooks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Mandatory Audit Firm Rotation – a Literature Review Essay
Mandatory Audit Firm Rotation A Literature Review

Since the passing of the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002, much debate has occurred concerning
mandatory auditor rotation for publicly held companies. Most corporate scandal involves dishonest or
questionable accounting. This realization has brought about the priority to take more measures are
taken to assure companies disclose the most reliable financial information. It is believed that a lack of
auditor independence may be to blame for fraud as we have seen in recent years. The Sarbanes Oxley
Act of 2002 ordered an investigation of whether or not implementation of a mandatory auditor rotation
policy could be beneficial. If this were to take effect it would require that ... Show more content on

Changing auditors can be very costly for companies. Research has shown that when companies
change auditors, they also often end up filing a restatement shortly after. Possibly this is because it has
a new set of eyes looking at the information. At any rate, these restatements are shortening the money
supply of companies (Daniels, 2009).
Conversely, there are many research based arguments that support mandatory auditor rotation. Some
claim that this is simply because extensive auditor tenure allows room for both auditor and clients to
become lenient with policies. There has also been an ongoing concern that true auditor independence
cannot be achieved because auditors are chosen and paid by the client company s management
(Raiborn, 2006).
Additionally, many times the auditors are dealing directly with those in management while conducting
their audit. This relationship is thought to create a conflict of interest which makes this type of reform
much more complex than a requirement to change audit firms at regular intervals. Some also believe
that increase turnover of auditors could affect the quality of companies audits.
As stated earlier, there are increased restatements with an increase in auditor turnover. However, it is
believed that if auditor rotation were adopted, over time the number of restatements should decrease
as auditors will become more

The Positive Side Of The Internet
HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT 1
Right from the inception of the Internet in 1969, there has been a drastic increase in its growth. Over
the years the world has become more and more dependent on the internet due to its ease in
accessibility, reduced cost and tons of information in all fields. As there are two sides to coins, there
are two sides to this both positive and negative with respect to its impact on people. The positive side
to the internet with reference to Dr.Leonard Klienrock lecture at infocom 2006 is that it has removed
the barrier in between the people, increased the speed of interaction and reduced cost of receiving
access to the technology. This has increased to a larger extent in the past 9 years; from receiving a data
speed from 50kbps to 1Gbps or maybe beyond is a noticeable example of advancement in the Internet.
The internet was basically invented to transfer resourceful information among a group of researchers.
Over the years humans have begun looking at it in a different angle which has made it a part of our
lives. The internet has affected the people personal, economic and social life profoundly. An example
more than 1.5 billion people (apart from the rest use the internet)as of today use Facebook which
surely proves two things, one nearly 25% of the world s population have access to the internet and
two, 25% of the people can interact with each other with just a click. The internet has brought people

Scout Reflection
On Saturday, the 28th of October, I presented Earth Rocks to Cub Scouts who were earning their Merit
Badge. As I now reflect on the two sessions I taught that day, I wonder if I could have ever been truly
prepared for them. I believed I had everything lined out and timed to take us right up to the time their
session was over. However, that was not the case because the scouts knew a considerable amount
more about the subject than I realized. I feel honored to have been able to work with such intelligent
groups of scouts. During the first session, I quickly realized that these Cub Scouts knew an impressive
amount about the information I was presenting, so I forced myself to change how I was presenting the
material. I engaged the scouts into the material by asking each one tons of questions about what they
already knew. Then I made sure they stayed busy with hands on activities that really engrossed them
into the material. I believe that when I had to change my lesson plans on the spot, I did decently well.
I was able to better grab the scouts attention and help them learn more information than before they
walked into the session. One of the most challenging ideas I tried to teach to the scouts would have to
be about geographical surroundings and the geographical materials that make up the buildings. I feel
as if I did not know enough about the subject matter, or how to present it correctly in a way that was
truly benefiting the scouts. However, the scout leaders were

Biotechnology Affected The Making Of Beer
The term biotechnology defines itself. Bio means life and technology refers to the application of
scientific knowledge for practical purposes. Therefor, biotechnology is the manipulation of organisms
primarily in the fields of agriculture, food science, and medicine to modify and enhance products,
plants, and animals as well as develop other microorganisms to invent useful things or solve problems.
Beer is one of the oldest beverages humans have produced, likely dating back to the dawn of cereal
agriculture around 10,000 B.C.E. in ancient Mesopotamia, the region of southwest Asia currently
occupied by Iraq. No one is completely sure how the process of beer making was discovered, or who
first discovered it, but the alcoholic commencement is considered to have transpired when an early
Sumerian farmer stumbled upon some starchy or sugary material like fruit juice or bread that got wet
and began to ferment within a few days resulting in an inebriating brew. The reason someone would
have thought to taste food that had been decomposing for days was most likely because during that
time period, no one would have dreamed of wasting any food, even if it smelled a bit funny. If there
was a way to make it edible and it didn t kill you or make you sick, people would do it to avoid waste.

Explain How The Circulatory And Respiratory System
The Living body
Task 2: Use the results from experiments 1 and 2 and research, to explain how the circulatory and
respiratory systems work together to maintain the function of the cells and the body as a whole.
In the human body, the circulatory system consists of the heart, blood vessels, arteries, veins and
capillaries. The heart pumps blood around the body via the veins.
The circulatory system works when nutrients and oxygen are distributed to every cell in the human
body by the blood. The Circulatory system also gets rid of waste products such as carbon dioxide and
urea. The heart and blood vessels together make up the cardiovascular system.
The respiratory system provides the blood with oxygen from the lungs while at the same time the
respiratory system gets rid of carbon dioxide in the blood.

The Shootings On College Campuses
Introduction In this past year alone there have been 23 shootings on college campuses, not including
incidents that have occurred at other grade level schools. Innocent students and teachers have been
injured or killed in each of these shootings. School shootings are not restricted to one geographic area;
they are spread across the United States, from Arizona to Florida to every thing in between. There is
no way to tell when or where events like this will occur, so many wonder how to prevent traumatic
events like this. In the United States all 50 states have passed laws to allow concealed carry, but only
under certain restrictions and mandates. Concealed carry allows individuals the ability to carry certain
concealed firearms in public. In order to carry a concealed weapon qualified individuals must obtain a
permit from a designated government authority. Certain states demand different requirement, as well
some do not allow Non residents permits. Some state regulations may ban concealed weapons in
specified places, like churches and schools. Due to recent shootings occurring at educational
institution, a number of people are asking whether this restriction is rational: Should states permit
concealed weapons on college campuses? Are guns on campus a deterrence to school shootings? The
purpose of this report is to determine if allowing carry concealed weapons on college campus is a
beneficial asset. After doing substantial research on this controversial question my

How Did Chinese Culture Influence The Development Of Art...
Chinese culture and art flourished in many ways during the Ming dynasty (1368 1644). Scholar
painters (Southern School), also known as the literati, thrived in many artistic aspects during this
period, largely changing the creative world of imperial China. The medium of choice for these artists
was a brush, monochromatic ink, and various scrolls. The intentions of the literati painters weren t to
illustrate environments realistically; instead they were more focused on producing art in ways to
express their opinions and views. Some artwork was formed near nonrepresentational. Literati
paintings customarily depicted sceneries containing explorers and scholars admiring landscapes.

Forensic Accounting Essay examples
In the present day forensic accounting plays a huge role in many of the court cases publicized by the
media. With the spotlight on the profession, this is a good opportunity to discuss the following topics:
1) Five skills that a forensic accountant needs to possess.
2) The role of a forensic accountant within a courtroom environment.
3) Analyze the legal responsibility a forensic accountant has while providing service to a business.
4) Examine two cases where forensic accountants have provided vital evidence in a case, summarizing
their importance to the case.

Because of the need for forensic accountants in deciphering and analyzing liability and damages, their
role in the courtroom, as businesses have continued to evolve, has expanded rapidly as well. While in
the past, forensic accountants have conducted investigations into the assets of parties involved in
divorce, or in supporting claims in construction disputes, now the list of roles has expanded to include
antitrust cases, intellectual property disputes, securities litigation, and professional negligence
lawsuits.(Tucker, 2011)
As laws and regulations continue to grow and become more complex, the need for forensic
accountants is sure to continue growing as well. An example of how regulations have grown
(mirroring the demand for forensic accountants) can be seen by comparing the scope and length of the
Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002, at 66 pages, to the 849 page Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and
Consumer Protection act of 2009.(Tucker, 2011) It is the environment created by such complex
regulations and oversight committees that has hedged the need for accounting experts who can help
demonstrate both the effects of individual companies on overall markets, as well as the opposite
effects of market happenings on individual firms. This complicated data, made comprehendible by a
talented and effective forensic accountant, can serve as the determining factor in a case. Ultimately,

Linguistic Relativity Essay
Introduction:
Linguistic relativity is the notion that language can affect our thought processes, and is often referred
to as the Sapir Whorf hypothesis , after the two linguists who brought the idea into the spotlight.
Whorf writes how Language is not merely a reproducing instrument for voicing ideas but rather is
itself the shaper of ideas, the program and guide for the individual s mental activity (1956:212), and I
will explain how it is able to do so. In this essay I will argue that certain ways of mental
categorization, spatial cognition and reality interpretation, based on the characteristics of our specific
variety of language, influence our perception of the world. I will discuss how languages divide up

Dirven and Verspoor note how the English differentiation is entirely forced on these children by the
contrast between the English prepositions in and on (1998:140), whereas in Korean, Kkita (glossable
loosely as fit ...) is indifferent to whether the Figure goes into, onto, over, or together with the Ground,
as long as it leads to a tight fit (Choi and Bowerman 1991:90).
The fact that the tested children grouped the actions in accordance with the grammatical structure of
their respective language is evidence for linguistic relativity, as both groups of children construe(d) the
relations between objects in the world on the basis of their language specific categories, and not on the
basis of some universal, conceptual categories (Dirven and Verspoor 1998:140 141). This suggests
that the children from the two linguistic communities will partly see the world in a different way,
being inclined to categorise the things they see in contrasting fashions.
Certain features are deemed important enough to warrant a category, and different languages prioritise
different qualities. What this means is that when we say something belongs to a certain set, e.g. that
putting toys into a container falls into an in group, we are focussing on some, but neglecting other
details of the situation, such as the tightness of the fit. The framework of our language

Ethical Dilemma Case Study
An ethical dilemma is a situation by which it s difficult to determine whether a situation is can be
handled without disappointing both sides. Therefore, an ethical dilemma exists when the right thing to
do is clear or when members of the healthcare team cannot agree on the right thing to do. Ethical
dilemmas require negotiation of different points of view (potter, Perry, Stockert, Hall 2011pg 78).
The case study briefly explains a situation between daughter and father regarding the father s health.

become a more open listener. Knowing the situation at hand, it s important to offer some solutions
such as offering education and resources such as in home care services that can help manage chronic
health issues. And when faced with financial expenses the nurse should explore possible ways for him
to obtain coverage or to find primary providers that provide licensed care at a lower cost. When
looking at Emilio S point of view, he enjoys gardening, going to church and doing small projects
around the house. As a nurse, I would consider that his independence means a lot to him. Trying to

commonplace, complex, and require critical thinking skills that are honed through practice, and

American Revolution Social Factors
There are many different social, political and economic factors which brought about the American
Revolution, but it was largely the economic factors namely the taxes imposed by the British upon the
colonists, and it was these taxes which caused the colonists to revolt and wage war after years of
oppression and economic injustices. The American Revolution grew out of increasing economic,
authoritarian restrictions placed upon the colonies by the British. The colonists lost their land, their
businesses and trade with other countries. The first major economic factor was the French Indian war,
which lasted 9 years. The British victory came at a high price with the British deeply in debt and
demanding more revenue from the colonies. With ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The duties posed an immediate threat to established traditions of colonial self government, especially
the practice of taxation through representative provincial assemblies. These taxes were resisted
everywhere with verbal and physical protests, deliberate evasion of duties, renewed nonimportation
agreements among merchants, and overt acts of hostility toward British enforcement agents, especially
in Boston. The uproar coupled with the instability of the British ministries, resulted in the taxes being
repealed on March 5 1770, the same day as the Boston Massacre. A small tax was left on tea and was
known as the Tea Act. It was introduced to save the East India Company from bankruptcy by
removing all duties on tea shipped, therefore making the price of British tea much lower than the
colonial tea. Colonists did not like the fact that this act was taking business away from the local
merchants and of course the tea merchants could not compete and were put out of business. The
colonists viewed the act as yet another example of taxation tyranny and resulted in tensions increasing
to an all time high. In December 1773 in protest of the Tea Act, The Sons of Liberty planned the tea
party and boarded a British East India ship and dumped 400 crates of Tea, worth between £10,000 and

the throne from Charles II in a relatively strong position. However, James was known to be a catholic
by many and this caused a lot of worry amongst many people. The people in general feared
catholicism and what it would come to bring. It can be seen that James II bought the 1688 Glorious
revolution upon himself. There were many factors which brought about the downfall of James II,
some which were of his own fault and some which were not.

Upon James return to England William of Orange was determined that his return would be short lived.
James is quoted in W.A Specks writings as saying if I do not retire, I shall certainly be sent to the
Tower, and no King ever went out of that place but to his Grave . This could indicate that William of
Orange forcefully removed and wanted to rid of James II and that James downfall was as a result of
William. James fled to France after his request to leave the capital. James downfall may also have
been due to fear that their would not be a protestant succession after an heir to the throne was
produced. Instead, many were hoping that James protestant daughter Mary would be the successor of
the throne, but when the birth of a male heir came about in 1688 all hopes of this happening were lost.
This may have been another factor which led to James downfall and something which may have
further influenced William of Orange s decision into intervening. Edward Valance argues that another
reason for William intervening was his wish to bring England into a war with France. William
therefore assumed that a free parliament would have more intent to support this objective. James
downfall can therefore be seen as a result of William of Orange rather than of his own doing in this

In contemporary society modern medicine usually takes on a curative role, it attempts to cure.
Complementary therapy however takes on a very different role; it is used to maintain wellbeing and
health as well as a helping to restore wellbeing to before illness or poor health. These therapies are
usually used in conjunction with modern medicine. This is usually to relieve symptoms that traditional
medicine fails to help with or to boost a person s emotional or physical health.
Reflexology
There have been many studies conducted into what kind of effect reflexology can have on various
conditions.
One area that has had many studies conducted regarding the effects reflexology is Cancer treatment.
The role of complementary therapy in this instance is to help manage a client s symptoms that they
may be experiencing from the aggressive cancer treatment. In 2000 Hodgson found using 12 patients
who were in the palliative stage of cancer that there was 100% improvement in many areas of the lives
of the participants within the group who were given reflexology, whereas the participants within the

Analysis Of Unnatural Causes
Why do some of us tend to get sicker more often or die sooner, and what factors causes us to even
become sick in the first place? This series called Unnatural Causes is a timely, informative and
passionately made documentary. It convincingly connects all the dots between health, race, class,
economics and social policy and comes to the conclusion that capitalism is making us sick. This is a
documentary that will provoke anger, discussion, and debate. That is a good thing, because there are
over 47 million uninsured in America and the crisis in health care is at the top of the domestic agenda.
On average, people at the top live longer, healthier lives. Those at the bottom are more disempowered,
get sicker more often and a lot of times, die sooner. We also see how racial inequality imposes an
additional risk burden on people of color which takes place in Louisville, Kentucky . (Unnatural

documentary, we see her trying to support her three children as well as her husband on disability. She
also has health complications of her own that prevents her from working. Mary lives her life on a tight

been rooted in increasing student performance in the hope of boosting economy and to please the
citizens. (Murphy and Adams, 1998)

  • 2. Stanza 5 Of Tao Te Ching s Stanza 5 of the Tao Te Ching tells us of desires and their limits. The first half of the stanza reference actions of survival (filling the bowl and sharpening the knife), and that although these actions are needed, there comes a point where we clearly stepped over a limit. The second half references desires (wealth and approval) that blind us as we chase them. A fault of today s society is the need to overfill our bowls and chase fortune , born from humanity s persistence in wanting improvements. This persistence is a flaw and a strength, that has brought to us poverty and innovation. Do your work, then step back. The only path to serenity. • 3. Cancer Screening Care Services and Cancer Screenings There are a wide variety of cancer types. They all have several things in common, however. Each cancer starts with cells that become abnormal or cancerous. These cells reproduce and form a mass of cancerous cells. This mass is called a tumor. When the cancerous cells spread, or metastasize, they can impact other tissues, organs, and systems of the body. A second commonality among cancers is that when they are detected early, they are easier to treat and the treatments are more likely to work. In many cases, a cancer that is caught early can be completely destroyed. The primary way to detect cancer is through cancer screenings. Screening are simply routine checks that take place prior to body showing signs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The benefits far outweigh those risks, but it is still important to be informed. Some of the risks of cancer screenings include false positive results that lead to great emotional turmoil and/or needless treatment; false negative results, which give a person undue confidence in their health when they actually have a serious condition; and actual damage to the body during the test, such a punctured colon during a colonoscopy. It is also important to remember that screenings can only detect cancer. They are not a cure, and even if the cancer is detected, it does not mean that the cancer will always be eradicated. Early detections does significantly increase the odds of success, however. Senior care services can help your senior loved one keep up on their annual exams and schedule screenings as necessary. Further, they are able to provide the transportation to and from appointments. This is particularly important with screening such as a colonoscopy where anesthesia is used. Senior care personnel can also be there to provide care for your loved one while they are recovering from these procedures, as some can be quite ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of Forrester s Cloud Computing Essay AUTHORS: SATYAJEET BINWADE ROLL NO.: 1941 (FE9) ASHISH MOKASHI ROLL NO.: 1913 (FE9) INTRODUCTION Forrester defines cloud computing as: A pool of abstracted, highly scalable and managed compute infrastructure capable of hosting end customer and applications billed by consumption. As the name suggests, cloud computing is a way of storing the data on a server instead of a hardware so that we can access the data from the compatible devices. This method gives us more ease of accessibility and we can also secure our data by giving limited access through a username and password to the server being used. Nowadays, most of the people use mobile phones which have an internal memory of 8 GB or 16 GB. If we need extra memory then we shall have to extend it using a memory card. If the inbuilt memory of mobile phone would be more, the cost of production will increase, resulting in decrease in market of the device. And as we all know, the support to external storage like memory card is also limited for a phone. It is problematic to carry a pen drive along with us everywhere. The other problem is the data stored is vulnerable to viruses. To overcome these problems, cloud computing was introduced. This gives freedom to access or share data without hardware. Cloud services exhibits of online file storage, social networking sites, web mail and online business applications. These are the services which changed the face of networking. Common Themes In Kurt Vonnegut s Harrison Bergeron Research Harrison Bergeron In Kurt Vonnegut short story Harrison Bergeron , he shows a theme where people are perfectly equal by normalizing everyone to the point of no freedom for the talented. The story tells a tale that warns Americans of the dangers of creating a truly equalitarian society in which its citizens sacrifice their individuality and freedom to the government in order to create a place where all men are created equal. Equality is a beloved principle enshrined in America s Declaration of Independence in the phrase All men are created equal, but Vonnegut suggests that the ideals of egalitarianism can be dangerous if they are interpreted too literally. One of the points that Vonnegut show is when the government is given far too much power and due to the handicap radio the people are passive and ignorant. The ... While PTSD is typically associated with someone who has served in the military, it can affect more than just that genre of individuals. It could affect rape victims, victims in a terrorist or natural disaster incident, nurses, doctors, and police and fire personnel and bystanders. PTSD can manifest itself in many forms. The results showed that 22% had symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and 61% met the diagnostic criteria of PTSD (Depressed Anxiety, 2009). This study shows a high rate of PTSD among nurses but the percentages could be higher due to many not reporting or admitting they have symptoms. Another study done in Australia showed that nurses in remote areas are more likely to experience violent crimes in the workplace which can lead to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. In this study 349 nurses working in remote areas of Australia responded. 88.5% were female in the age range of 20 68 years. In the 12 months preceding the survey, the workplace violence incidents that were the highest are verbal aggression (79.5%), property damage (31.6%), and physical violence (28.6%) (trends in workplace violence in remote areas). This survey provides a statistically significant correlation between workplace violence and PTSD symptoms. According to this point of view, great leaders are simply born with the necessary internal characteristics such as charisma, confidence, intelligence, and social skills that make them natural born leaders. Great man theories assume that the capacity for leadership is inherent that great leaders are born, not made. These theories often portray great leaders as heroic, mythic and destined to rise to leadership when needed. Behavioral Theories: Behavioral theories of leadership are based upon the belief that great leaders are made, not born. Consider it the flip side of the Great Man theories. Rooted in behaviorism, this leadership theory focuses on the actions of leaders not on mental qualities or internal states. According to this theory, people can learn to become leaders through teaching and observation. Behavioral theories focus on how leaders behave. For instance, do leaders dictate what needs to be done and expect cooperation? Or do they involve their teams in decision making to encourage acceptance and support? In the 1930s, Kurt Lewin developed a framework based on a leader s behavior. He argued that there are three types of leaders: 1. Autocratic leaders make decisions without consulting their teams. This style of leadership is considered appropriate when decisions need to be made quickly, when there s no need for input, and when team agreement isn t necessary for a successful outcome. 2. Democratic leaders allow the team to provide input before making a decision, although the degree of input can vary from leader to leader. This style is important when team agreement matters, but it can be difficult to manage when there are lots of different perspectives and ideas. 3. Laissez faire leaders don t interfere; they allow people within the team to make many of the decisions. This works well when the team is highly capable, is motivated, and doesn t need ... Origins of cooking are obscure. Primitive humans have savored roast meat, flesh of beast killed in forest fire was found to be more palatable and easier to chew and digest than the customary raw meat. However roasting spitted meats over fires remained virtually the sole culinary technique until the Paleolithic Period, when the Aurignacian people of southern France began to steam their food over hot embers by wrapping it in wet leaves. Aside from such hard procedures as toasting wild grains on flat rocks and using shells, skulls, or hollowed stones to heat liquids, no further culinary advances were made. So advancement in cooking techniques made culinary methods improved with the introduction of earthenware and introduction of pottery during Neolithic Period . Research has shown that when companies change auditors, they also often end up filing a restatement shortly after. Possibly this is because it has a new set of eyes looking at the information. At any rate, these restatements are shortening the money supply of companies (Daniels, 2009). Conversely, there are many research based arguments that support mandatory auditor rotation. Some claim that this is simply because extensive auditor tenure allows room for both auditor and clients to become lenient with policies. There has also been an ongoing concern that true auditor independence cannot be achieved because auditors are chosen and paid by the client company s management (Raiborn, 2006). Additionally, many times the auditors are dealing directly with those in management while conducting their audit. This relationship is thought to create a conflict of interest which makes this type of reform much more complex than a requirement to change audit firms at regular intervals. Over the years the world has become more and more dependent on the internet due to its ease in accessibility, reduced cost and tons of information in all fields. As there are two sides to coins, there are two sides to this both positive and negative with respect to its impact on people. The positive side to the internet with reference to Dr.Leonard Klienrock lecture at infocom 2006 is that it has removed the barrier in between the people, increased the speed of interaction and reduced cost of receiving access to the technology. This has increased to a larger extent in the past 9 years; from receiving a data speed from 50kbps to 1Gbps or maybe beyond is a noticeable example of advancement in the Internet. One of the most challenging ideas I tried to teach to the scouts would have to be about geographical surroundings and the geographical materials that make up the buildings. Therefor, biotechnology is the manipulation of organisms primarily in the fields of agriculture, food science, and medicine to modify and enhance products, plants, and animals as well as develop other microorganisms to invent useful things or solve problems. No one is completely sure how the process of beer making was discovered, or who first discovered it, but the alcoholic commencement is considered to have transpired when an early Sumerian farmer stumbled upon some starchy or sugary material like fruit juice or bread that got wet and began to ferment within a few days resulting in an inebriating brew. The reason someone would have thought to taste food that had been decomposing for days was most likely because during that time period, no one would have dreamed of wasting any food, even if it smelled a bit funny. The Shootings On College Campuses Introduction In this past year alone there have been 23 shootings on college campuses, not including incidents that have occurred at other grade level schools. Innocent students and teachers have been injured or killed in each of these shootings. School shootings are not restricted to one geographic area; they are spread across the United States, from Arizona to Florida to every thing in between. There is no way to tell when or where events like this will occur, so many wonder how to prevent traumatic events like this. In the United States all 50 states have passed laws to allow concealed carry, but only under certain restrictions and mandates. Concealed carry allows individuals the ability to carry certain concealed firearms in public. In order to carry a concealed weapon qualified individuals must obtain a permit from a designated government authority. Certain states demand different requirement, as well some do not allow Non residents permits. Some state regulations may ban concealed weapons in specified places, like churches and schools. Due to recent shootings occurring at educational institution, a number of people are asking whether this restriction is rational: Should states permit concealed weapons on college campuses? Are guns on campus a deterrence to school shootings? The purpose of this report is to determine if allowing carry concealed weapons on college campus is a beneficial asset. Linguistic Relativity Essay Introduction: Linguistic relativity is the notion that language can affect our thought processes, and is often referred to as the Sapir Whorf hypothesis , after the two linguists who brought the idea into the spotlight. Whorf writes how Language is not merely a reproducing instrument for voicing ideas but rather is itself the shaper of ideas, the program and guide for the individual s mental activity (1956:212), and I will explain how it is able to do so. In this essay I will argue that certain ways of mental categorization, spatial cognition and reality interpretation, based on the characteristics of our specific variety of language, influence our perception of the world. The fact that the tested children grouped the actions in accordance with the grammatical structure of their respective language is evidence for linguistic relativity, as both groups of children construe(d) the relations between objects in the world on the basis of their language specific categories, and not on the basis of some universal, conceptual categories (Dirven and Verspoor 1998:140 141). This suggests that the children from the two linguistic communities will partly see the world in a different way, being inclined to categorise the things they see in contrasting fashions. Certain features are deemed important enough to warrant a category, and different languages prioritise different qualities. What this means is that when we say something belongs to a certain set, e.g. that putting toys into a container falls into an in group, we are focussing on some, but neglecting other details of the situation, such as the tightness of the fit. American Revolution Social Factors There are many different social, political and economic factors which brought about the American Revolution, but it was largely the economic factors namely the taxes imposed by the British upon the colonists, and it was these taxes which caused the colonists to revolt and wage war after years of oppression and economic injustices. The American Revolution grew out of increasing economic, authoritarian restrictions placed upon the colonies by the British. The colonists lost their land, their businesses and trade with other countries. The first major economic factor was the French Indian war, which lasted 9 years. The duties posed an immediate threat to established traditions of colonial self government, especially the practice of taxation through representative provincial assemblies. These taxes were resisted everywhere with verbal and physical protests, deliberate evasion of duties, renewed nonimportation agreements among merchants, and overt acts of hostility toward British enforcement agents, especially in Boston. The uproar coupled with the instability of the British ministries, resulted in the taxes being repealed on March 5 1770, the same day as the Boston Massacre. A small tax was left on tea and was known as the Tea Act. It was introduced to save the East India Company from bankruptcy by removing all duties on tea shipped, therefore making the price of British tea much lower than the colonial tea. Colonists did not like the fact that this act was taking business away from the local merchants and of course the tea merchants could not compete and were put out of business. The colonists viewed the act as yet another example of taxation tyranny and resulted in tensions increasing to an all time high. In December 1773 in protest of the Tea Act, The Sons of Liberty planned the tea party and boarded a British East India ship and dumped 400 crates of Tea, worth between £10,000 and ... Upon James return to England William of Orange was determined that his return would be short lived. James is quoted in W.A Specks writings as saying if I do not retire, I shall certainly be sent to the Tower, and no King ever went out of that place but to his Grave . This could indicate that William of Orange forcefully removed and wanted to rid of James II and that James downfall was as a result of William. James fled to France after his request to leave the capital. James downfall may also have been due to fear that their would not be a protestant succession after an heir to the throne was produced. Instead, many were hoping that James protestant daughter Mary would be the successor of the throne, but when the birth of a male heir came about in 1688 all hopes of this happening were lost. This may have been another factor which led to James downfall and something which may have further influenced William of Orange s decision into intervening. Edward Valance argues that another reason for William intervening was his wish to bring England into a war with France. William therefore assumed that a free parliament would have more intent to support this objective. This series called Unnatural Causes is a timely, informative and passionately made documentary. It convincingly connects all the dots between health, race, class, economics and social policy and comes to the conclusion that capitalism is making us sick. This is a documentary that will provoke anger, discussion, and debate.
