Genetic Disorders Should Not Be Allowed To Have Children...
So, even if you didn t recognize the disease as genetic, you ve certainly run into someone with a far
reaching genetic disorder. A disorder that left them borderline unable to function, perhaps a disorder
that left their ability to think or remember things severely limited, a disorder that hindered them in all
aspects of their lives, or even a disorder that lead to such frailty, that they could die within the next ten
years. Everyone has seen someone like this, whether family or not, now should they be able to have a
chance to spread their disorder further, through having children? Using common sense, and various
government websites detailing the multitude of genetic disorders and how easily and randomly they
can be inherited, anyone can come to the quick conclusion that they shouldn t be able to. Now, this
view that people with debilitating genetic disorders shouldn t be able to reproduce comes not out of a
place of hatred, but truly and honestly out of sympathy. People with such awful disorders shouldn t be
allowed to have children. Now, if someone were to examine the research, ... Show more content on

It just makes sense, if no one with life threatening genetic disorders had children, then we would stop
seeing most of these genetic disorders appear. No more would be the sorry sights of the horribly
impaired, and no longer would you be forced to learn of the deaths of young infants from such ruthless
disorders. Now, some might say that this is highly immoral, they might ask who has the right to tell
someone that they are or aren t allowed to have children. However, isn t letting someone, old or
young, suffer and die a painful death, or letting someone ignorantly glide through life without any
ounce of understanding of what they are even doing, even more morally bankrupt? It s only common

The Fourth Amendment Of The Fourth Amendment
When the colonists established the bill of rights in the 18th century, the fourth amendment seemed
unambiguous. The government needed to respect the right for people to be secure in their persons,
house, papers and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures and not be violated, and no
warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause. The difference between today and eighteenth century is
that many more situations have come up that weren t around during the eighteenth century. New
technologies, new threats and new circumstances have risen that may diminish the restriction on the
fourth amendment. In order to protect society from new threats and circumstances in America, the
Supreme Court expands their understanding of the fourth amendment to apply it to the new world. The
idea of the respect for privacy antedates American law. Over one thousand years ago a Roman
statesman by the name of Cicero says that there is nothing that should be less dishonored than the
home of man and it is immoral to violate his place of safety. Although this may true, government has
always had a thirst for information. One major example of this is between the English kingdom and
the thirteen colonies. Until 1768 there was something known as the salutary neglect were Britain wasn
t enforcing many of their laws. Due to the major debt from the French and Indian war, laws involving
taxes and controlling American smugglers, needed to be put in place. One key aspect that helped
enforce these

Interaction with the Web site
A retailer s Web site is the primary contact point in an online transaction, where customers can
ascertain a great deal of information about an organization s attention to detail and emphasis on
customer satisfaction. If a Web site is hard to use and visually distracting, customers will often switch
to another retailer that makes the shopping experience easier. Five attributes influence how customers
evaluate the quality of their Web site interactions.
Ease of Use When customers access a retailer s Web site, they often find that no formal instructions
are provided. Instead, online retail settings frequently require customers to learn by doing. This means
that a Web site must be extremely intuitive and easy to use, regardless of how much computer
experience a customer has. In an online setting, customers associate ease of use with freedom from
significant mental effort.3 One of the strengths of online retailing endless shelf space can quickly turn
into a weakness if a Web site is difficult to use. Customers want easy to use search engines that allow
them to find products quickly. For instance, Amazon.com Inc. has a wide variety of products spanning

Christina Rossetti s A Triad
Individuals in society are compelled and feel restricted to follow certain social rules, but for some,
their emotions towards the restrictions are negative. Many find different ways to release their
constrained emotions, such as art, writing, music and physical activity. In like manner, Christina
Rossetti releases her feelings and opinions about restrictions and situations occurring around her,
which is evident in her sonnet A Triad. Christina Rossetti s Petrarchan sonnet, A Triad, was published
in the 1800s; during this period, the image and presentation of women was strict and had to be upheld.
In A Triad, Rossetti is expressing the lack of variety, labels and freedom of women through the three
women illustrated in the poem. The three women are categorized under married and lack of love, ideal
woman, and promiscuous. Rossetti s expressions about the society s restrictions on women are evident
in her use of symbolism of colours and words that are chosen to rhyme. Rossetti s use of symbolism
elaborates on the restriction and lack of freedom women possess. The three women are categorized
into their labels and are structured in the poem one after the other. The symbolism of colours is
exemplified in the descriptions of the three women; the colours presented are red, blue, and white. The
symbolism of red and blue possess an opposition in meaning: Red symbolizes passion, lust and love,
whereas blue signifies sadness and despair. One woman is labelled as promiscuous with

The During The Age Of Reformation Essay
During the Age of Reformation people were greatly against the abuses that existed in the Roman
Catholic Church. A couple of abuses that were greatly stressed were the selling of indulgences,
simony, and nepotism. It was some of these same abuses that prompted German reformist Martin
Luther to write his 95 Theses. And for the Council of Trent to later address them in a series of
meetings. The most criticized abuse of the Roman Catholic Church was the selling of indulgences by
the pope. Indulgences permitted people to buy release from time in purgatory for both themselves and
their deceased loved ones. They were papers sold in order to bring remission of punishment due to
sins. Another common abuse that existed in the Church was simony. Simony is the act of selling of
Church positions. The Church had permitted important ecclesiastical posts to be sold to the highest
bidders and had left residency requirements in the religious community unenforced. A last abuse of the
Church is nepotism. Nepotism is the act of giving jobs to family members instead of giving it to more
qualified workers. This was a common problem where a well trained and dedicated worker was
needed and not just anyone. In 1517, when reformist Martin Luther wrote an indictment of the abuses
of the Roman Catholic Church called the 95 Theses, he appealed to many people across Europe. In his
indictment he greatly criticized and addressed the selling of indulgences above all. At first, a person
would have to do work

Is Helen To Blame For The Trojan War
Creative Title Although Aphrodite gave Helen to Paris without her consent, Helen s nonetheless guilty.
Hecuba gave Helen the opportunity to escape Troy, and Helen denied this offer. Helen did not scream
when she was being abducted. If she really was being taken against her will, she would ve at least
tried to fight back and scream for help. This 10 year war could ve have been at least shortened if
Helen would ve changed her actions . In this book
Helen s famously labeled as the face that launch d a thousand ships and also the one to blame for the
bloody 10 year Trojan War. Helen betrays her country and her people, resulting in Helen being guilty
of treason. Helen was known around the world for her unbelievable beauty. People despised Helen for
the woes her beauty caused and how many lives it took. For she ensnares the eyes of men, overthrows
their towns, and burns their houses, so potent are her witcheries Hecuba. Of course Helen s abduction

Secondly, these shops profitability is very much affected by fierce pressure on margins imposed by
powerful suppliers. Consequently, due to this downturn, the weaker manufacturers exit the industry
and the remaining manufacturers gain market shares and become more powerful which create a
vicious circle.
An option to turn these threats into opportunities could be to manage to set up agreements with
smaller shoe manufacturers. The manufacturers activity would be sustain by producing some on order
shoes while the independent retails would benefit from both higher margins and better opportunity to
differentiate the offer.
However, in order to be successful, this project requires advanced shoes development and design
knowledge and strong trust relationships between the entities.

The shoe industry seems to regain some stability after the dim past years of recession. The industry is
a mature market undergoing some crucial changes that players need to consider carefully. On one
hand, players who miss the online transition may certainly loose market shares. On the other hand,
players who manage to rethink the way they operate and to redefine a consistent corporate identity

A Theory Of Justice By John Rawls Essay
In my discussion of this piece of text I will attempt to present an argument which suggests rational
individuals behind a veil of ignorance would assent to the two primary principles of justice found in
Rawls A theory of justice . I will also analyse the extract, in particular debating whether various
propositions made by Rawls in this extract are true. Initially it is important to situate the extract of
discussion. Section 3 of A theory of justice is the opening of Rawls argument in A theory of justice ,
where he introduces his original position , stating how rational individuals in a hypothetical scenario,
behind a veil of ignorance, would agree to two principles of justice which would determine the way
social institutions would be organised and how primary goods would be distributed. This section also
shows Rawls agreement with the idea of hypothetical consent , an idea which suggests that because
free and rational individuals behind a veil of ignorance would agree to Rawls two principles of social
justice; they hypothetically consent to the principles of the social contract .
Initially I will analyse this extract in detail, focusing the claims and propositions made by Rawls.
Rawls claims that no society can...be a scheme of cooperation which men enter voluntarily . Rawls
belief in this leads to his agreement with the idea of hypothetical consent, however, what if it is
possible for society to be a scheme of voluntary consent, perhaps taking part in a vote

British Cuisine
Some time ago Somerset Maugham said that ‘to eat well in England, you should have breakfast three
times a day. To be perfectly honest, most British food was considered by many people as terrible. It
included overcooked vegetables, boring sandwiches and greasy sausages. It was definitely not an
enjoyable experience. However, these are now only stereotypes. Things have changed a lot and food
has become very important in British culture. Not only TV cooks are more famous than writers, but
also their recipes and books are well known across the Europe. The ‘New British cuisine is changing

Many people like Italian pizza and pasta dishes.
Even though many people believe that there is nothing like typical traditional English dish and that
Britain has the fast food reputation, the traditional cuisine has survived. It is practiced mainly in the
countryside and among the British upper classes. It includes: roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, toad in
the hole, pie and mash, black pudding, roast chicken, roast lamb, bangers and mash, bubble and
squeak ploughman s lunch, hotpot, shepherds pie, Welsh faggots, syllabub, cock a leekie,
mulligatawny soup and many other. What is worth mentioning here is that some world known food
was invented in Britain. For instance, mayonnaise, HP sauce, marmite or simple sandwich. Many
people also believe that steaks originated in the USA. However, they are so much British that in the
past times British ‘elite troops were referred to as beefeaters. Additionally, Britons try to guard their

Palm Oil Growth And Sustainability
Palm Oil Growth in Peru Slows as Land Suitability and Sustainability Take Top Priority
Palm is a tree crop suited to cultivation in climatic conditions similar to those of the tropical
rainforest. From 1999 to 2009, global production more than doubled. Thirty years ago, palm oil
accounted for less than 2 percent but now accounts for 37 percent of vegetable oil consumption
worldwide, and palm has displaced soy as the world s most important vegetable oil. Palm oil is used
as a biofuel, for cooking, and in a wide range of other items, including food products, cosmetics, soaps
and detergents.
Malaysia and Indonesia produce 85 percent of the world s palm oil. Expansion in these two countries
is expected to diminish by 2022, however, as land suitable for additional palm oil production
dwindles. As an alternative, developers are looking to other regions for expansion, including Latin
America. Estimates suggest that Peru has the second largest area potentially suitable for increased oil
palm production within this region.
Area Expansion
In 2003, the Peruvian government announced that the production of biofuels, including palm oil,
would be a priority. Before 2006, palm expansion in Peru was slow and occurred mainly on already
cleared land (mostly pastures and secondary growth forests, as opposed to old growth forests.)
Between 2006 and 2010, however, area doubled, and about 70 percent of all new palm plantations
during this time were established by old growth clearing.

Short Essay On Vampires
For over the years vampires have changed from the beginning of Dracula to more modern day
vampires like Twilight. Some people may even believe in them. So, which is realistic? How do they
keep changing over time? A vampire is a human that survives off human blood and has fangs. Now
vampires don t need to survive off human blood, and some of them even have some power where they
can see into the future and read minds. Nothing can kill a vampire unless you drive a stake through his
or her heart. Vampires can t come out in the day, but only at night. Now some of them come out in the

Not only do they have every aspect other vampires do, but they have powers. They all don t have the

sparkle in the sun. The boys are muscular and are what every girl would want. They have fast reflexes
and can run faster than a cheetah. Crucifixes and garlic do not bother these vampires. The only way to
kill these vampire are a stake through the heart. The Cullen s are the vampires who drink the blood of
animals not humans. They have to learn to control themselves around human blood. The other
vampires they do not get along with drink the blood from humans, and that is why they don t get
along. Edward falls in love with a girl named Bella. She ends up finding out what him and his family
really is, but loves him anyways. He cares about her and would never do anything to hurt her or her
family. For some reason Edward can not read Bella s mind. He also loves the scent of her. Not only is
there vampire in this book, but there are werewolves. Vampires do not get along with the werewolves.
Bella is the reason the vampires and werewolves got along. Later on in Bella and Edwards relationship
Bella ends up pregnant with Edwards baby. It is highly rare vampires can have babies. In order for
Bella and the baby to survive is to drink blood. Since the baby is a vampire it feeds off Bella from the
inside if it is hungry and needs blood. Bella becomes sick and her bones brake while she is pregnant.

The 1960 s began a new Psychedelic Era. It was filled with hippies who is someone who is free

It later transformed into what would be called psychedelic rock.
Experimenting with marijuana and LSD became an active attribute to the lives of teenagers. Drugs let
them disconnect from their parents and live freely for a period of time. There has been a survey done
to show relatively the amount of students in school who had taken pot and acid;
By 1969, 31 percent of students said they had smoked pot, and between 10 and 15 percent had
experimented with LSD. At least 10 to 12 million smoked marijuana and between 1 and 2 million
dropped acid. (Bromell, Tomorrow Never Knows)
Music and hippies are two ideal images that come to mind when hearing about the 1960 s. It is no
surprise, the majority of the popular music was composed by those hippies. Marijuana was being used
by major musicians in the early to mid sixties.
1964 was a year that paved the way for music history. It was the first time that The Beatles smoked
pot, being introduced to it by Bob Dylan. In the next year, Dylan released his iconic album Highway
61 Revisited. This erupted into the psychedelic mindset of teenagers and adults. Having his albums be
heavily influenced by the use of pot lead the way for the future of folk and rock n roll music. Having
marijuana offer an insight into the musician s own mind and expand their creative abilities into realms

Big Rock Candy Mountain
Today I was given a set of poems to read and choose one to analyze. I decided I would use Big Rock
Candy Mountain as my poem of choice. I recognize this poem as a song written by Harry McClintock
in 1928. The song is one of the few that can still make sense in today s culture and society and in my
opinion is the mark of a truly great writer. The speaker of the poem is a hobo that was hiking on the
trails. Given that the poem was written in 1928, during the Great Depression, he sounds wistful and
hopeful of the mystical Big Rock Candy Mountains. He is talking to some folks he happened to pass
by on his way down the track. The speaker ultimately sounds like someone who is down on their luck
and only has hope left. Without taking the time frame in which the poem was written, you can feel an
undertone of depression and longing. Throughout the poem, the hobo speaks about this perfect
paradise in the Big Rock Candy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only word that is never rhymed is the word Mountains which is the last line of every stanza. I feel
the writer chose not to rhyme it to further set the Big Rock Candy Mountains apart as paradise on
Earth. The title of the poem as well as it being the last line of each stanza further emphasizes this.
The Big Rock Candy Mountain is the hobo s version of paradise on Earth. The theme for this poem is
dreams and wishful thinking. The author illustrates this by having the poem have a nice upbeat tone to
it. Where all your hopes and dreams will come true and you can just spend your day how you may.
Poems like these are still written in today s society but are expressed through different mediums than
the poetry of old. While this song was originally released in 1928, it didn t gain popularity until 1939.
In today s society, poems are found more often in music than in a book, although those are common
too. Song s in today s society often rhyme or tell a story and can be analyzed just as poetry

Question Two. Ed Organization Task Functions Are A Set
Question two
ED organization task functions are a set of strategies needed to achieve short and long term goals.
Generally, task functions include identifying community problems, providing technical and analytical
assistance, determining the resources necessary to meet the economic development needs of a
situation, developing networks among individuals and institutions, and stimulating interaction among
diverse groups to achieve common objectives (J, Leigh, and Blakely 2013, p. 108)
The Beacon Council s work lines up with what we know about the task functions of ED organizations
in many aspects. President and CEO Larry K. Williams identified Miami s transit system as a potential

Williams, Beacon Council president and CEO, the diversity of Miami Dade County s industries and
economy is already a strong advantage for attracting and keeping businesses (Wooldridge, 2016), and
the educational environment encourages entrepreneurship.
The book advised analyzing employment data with a location quotient, a ratio of industries
represented locally to one of a reference economy. This is a valuable equation for determining industry
growth at a fixed period. When the OCOG chose target industries for Miami, the specialized index
would have assisted analysts in predicting future economic changes and which sectors will provide the
most employment opportunities across all skill and income levels. As discussed in the Cincinnati,
Ohio Cluster Case study, after the LQ, analysts would determine the occupational LQ to assess the
skill base of the current workforce. Measuring job growth rates by sector and comparison with
national trends would predict areas with healthy economies and those expected to grow. Furthermore,
cluster identification uses input/output analysis and local and national reports to unmask growing
industries and relate dependency or competitiveness between businesses while identifying industries
statistically inclined to grow.
Question five
Of the planning approaches outlined in the course text pages 123 129, the OCOG appears to address
contingency planning, which is interactive, and strategic planning, a proactive form effective and

Grand Rapids First Church Center Of The Church
On Sunday, May 14th 2017 at 9:00am, I attended a worship service at Grand Rapids First Church.
Grand Rapids First Church s auditorium seats about 3000 people. The interior space of the church is
circular with the podium somewhat in the center. I believe that this places God at the center of the
church. Additionally, there are crucifixes on walls throughout the church. These crucifixes serve as
anamnesis of Christ s death and resurrection. Furthermore, there is a huge crucifix right in front of the
main entrance of the auditorium; in my opinion, this helps believers to shift their focus [from the
world] to Jesus as they enter God s presence. The sanctuary, with the crucifixes, serve as a beachhead
of holiness in space.

Grand Rapids first is an Assemblies of God church. As a result, its theology is closely related to that of
the pentecostal denomination. Also, the worshippers varied from toddlers to the elderly. Because of
this context, worship was very diverse. The worship team sang songs that were familiar to both the
youth and to the elderly. Also, the words of the songs were projected on a screen for people who were
not conversant with the songs. Additionally, Pastor Sam preached in a way that was applicable to both
the old and young. During his preaching, he gave quality examples that resonated with everyone s life,
no matter the age difference.
An example of cross cultural sharing I appreciated was the use of contemporary Christian songs. Back
at home, in Ghana, I attend a nondenominational, charismatic church. At my home church, we sing
lots of foreign gospel music; Hillsong, Bethel music, Chris Tomlin to mention but a few, are artists
whose music are frequently used during the church s worship service. As such, it was nice to hear
familiar songs when worshiping with Grand Rapids First church. It made me more comfortable and I
was able to experience both the expressive and formative aspects of worship. A countercultural
witness that I think is needed in Grand Rapids First, is the attitude of praying out loud. When I say

Taking a Look at Sedum or Stonecrop
Sedum (Sedum spp.), or stonecrop, is a resilient succulent that consists of about 400 species that can
grow pink, white, red or yellow, butterfly attracting, star shaped flowers. Although some varieties can
thrive in warmer zones, most are hardy to U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 3
through 9. Because these zones can experience sometimes unexpected cold temperatures and frost,
knowing which type of stonecrop to grow is essential to your success. (See References 1 and 2)
About Sedums
Sedums varieties can range in height; some low growing varieties reach no more than 2 inches in
height, while some tall varieties can reach up to 2 feet or more. The low growing varieties work well
in rock gardens and make good ground cover, while the tall varieties work well in borders or as cut
flowers. The origin of the variety you choose to grow greatly determines whether it will survive in
your climate. Without proper protection, sedums that originate from tropical or desert like climates
won t tolerate cool, frost prone areas, while sedums that stem from cooler areas, won t tolerate heat.
(See References 1, p. 54 and References 3, p. 190)
Freeze Hardy Sedum Varieties
Sedums with finer, smaller leaves are generally more cold hardy and less heat tolerant than those with
large leaves. (See References 3) Some frost tolerant varieties that are hardy to USDA hardiness zones
4 through 9 include the 4 inch tall tasteless stonecrop (S. sexantulare), which grows yellow flowers

Adverse Selection Research Paper
Adverse selection Individuals who are sick are more likely to purchase health insurance than healthy
people. This sicker population might utilize a significant amount of healthcare services. In order to
cater to this demand insurance companies will resort to raising the premiums, dissuading healthy
people from buying insurance. As the pool of people covered by insurance becomes sicker it continues
to drive up costs leading to a vicious cycle where each year fewer and fewer healthy individuals obtain
insurance. This process is called adverse selection. By implementing the individual mandate, we
introduce healthy people into the insurance pool. The healthy individuals mitigate the cost of sicker
individuals. As a result of requiring people

Famine In Russian Civil War
inevitable social unrest. The Russian civil war was accompanied by a famine that swept the nation up
until the end of the war. A number of ecological difficulties such as drought contributed to the famine,
but it was grain requisitioning imposed by the Bolshevik regime and the government s decision to hide
the true severity of the famine that made the it truly detrimental to Russia. Struggling to deal with the
civil war and the famine unfolding in Russia, the Bolsheviks imposed a grain requisitioning policy
called Prodrazvyorstka on the Russian people. The grain that was confiscated would then be
distributed in order to feed the starving cities, and perhaps more importantly in the eyes of the
Bolsheviks; feed the Red Army. Forced requisitioning was often used on the Russian ... Show more

In his academic journal on agricultural policies in civil war era Russia, research associate of the
Ukrainian Research Institute of Harvard University Kazuo Nakai touches on the destructive effects of
the Bolshevik requisitioning policies on Russia during the civil war. He says, The process of grain
requisition was crazy and the real amount of grain held by middle class peasants was not taken into

of grain requisitioning (Nakai 49). Not only was grain requisitioning sloppily advised and executed, it
also created a strong feeling of resentment towards the Bolshevik regime, only furthering the mindset
that caused civil war to begin with. Anti Soviet feeling among Russian peasants could only add fuel to
the fire of the civil war, having detrimental effects on Russia as the nation sunk deeper into war and
desperation. In order for grain requisitioning to be successful, Bolshevik officials had to confiscate
grain from the Russian peasantry and then parcel out the supplies to the armed forces and starving

The Effect Of Fructose On The Growth Of Fructose
Introduction
Fructose is a hexose carbon sugar that is a major carbohydrate in fruits. Although it is one of three
sugars with same chemical formula C6H12O6, along with glucose and galactose, they all have diverse
chemical structures. Fructose can be derived from fruits and several vegetables, as well as from honey
and flowers. While there are various sources of dietary fructose, other sugar have been introduced into
our diet.
Sucrose is a disaccharide by two simple sugars, fructose and glucose, bonding. It is commercially
derived from cane sugar, sugar beets and corn, which go through refinement processes such as
bleaching and crystallisation, and lacks in vitamins and minerals. The consumption of fructose
throughout history has remained at a stable low level, however humans grew accustom to the addition
of sucrose in their diet as it became extensively accessible. With new technologies of the 1960s, the
development of high fructose syrup was implemented and introduced into the market. This
inexpensive mixture containing approximately 55% of fructose and 45% of glucose, became an
enticing alternative to sucrose derived from cane sugar. Today, a large portion of our fructose intake is
sourced from these two forms of sugar.
The arguments made that sugar is toxic is dependent on type of sugar and how the body processes it.
By definition, a toxin is a poison produced by a living organism, which has a negative impact on the
effected organism s metabolic function. Glucose can

World Gains From Optimism
What the world gains from Optimism:
Usually, when you think of an optimist, you might think of a bright cheery person wearing bright
happy colors skipping happily down a sidewalk, right? And while that sounds like a wonderful way to
live, that s not quite how optimism always looks. (But hey, if it works for you, be my guest!)
Optimism is often overlooked and misunderstood in today s society. We really have no idea how
beneficial the effects of optimism are for us. From healthier hearts to even living longer, optimism
sure is a helpful tool that s easily accessible and makes the journey of life a lot more fun!
Optimism shockingly, has a direct correlation to physical health as seen in many researches conducted
by multiple people. A healthier ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Researchers actually found that individual factors like age, income level, education, gender, etc. had a
smaller than expected impact on optimism, and that national factors like GDP and life expectancy didn
t really have an impact on optimism at all. So really no matter how harsh the circumstances, we all can
be positive.
Findings from a study conducted a few years ago by neuroscientist Elizabeth Phelps suggest that
directing our thoughts of the future toward the positive is a result of our frontal cortex communicating
with subcortical regions deep in our brain. The frontal cortex, a large area behind the forehead, is the
most recently evolved part of the brain. It is larger in humans than in other primates and is critical for
many complex human functions such as language and goal setting. We just have to use that frontal
cortex and decide to choose the positive route.
So now we know how beneficial it is for us to use that daily optimistic thinking. From heart health,
boosted immune systems, and longer lives optimism can do it all for us. Lots of people in our society
don t always adapt to this system because of older primal habit, but as proven, anyone can change to
the positive side as long as their willing. So are you ready to smile nonstop, wear bright clothes, and
skip everywhere? Let s be

Urvashi Butaliaia After Partition
Recent feminist historiography by scholars like Urvashi Butalia has demonstrated that amid Partition,
abducting women from the other group turned into a typical approach to shame the
Muslim/Hindu/Sikh other; the apportionment of ladies from the other group was an approach to
influence the collective honor, religious sentiment and the physical propagation of that group. This
was the condition of the state after Partition. Nationalist discourse not just developed women as agents
of ethnic community and honor; they additionally just valorised the Hindu/Sikh woman who, under
danger of assault or kidnapping, conferred suicide and in this way shielded her honor. As obvious in
Chand s remark, it was the subjectivity of women who submitted suicide

Technology And The Future Of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
The package comes, but there is no deliverer. A tractor is plowing the field after a successful harvest,
but there is no driver. This is the future of technology, and more specifically, unmanned aerial
vehicles. UAVs, more commonly referred to as drones, have been advancing for decades now. Their
advancement has not come without opposition though, and while this argument is concentrated behind
drones role in technologies machination over society, the true reality is a shift to mechanization, a
progression the United States has seen before. Historically, many economic shifts have affected the
US, including the shift from agrarian society to industrialization in the Gilded Age, periods which
allowed the US to dominate the world economy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, farmers who are subject to working conditions along with the simple nature of human
abilities which detract from their ability to inspect a field compared to technology, are eliminated in
UAV practices of inspection. The benefit transfers down the line of agriculture when the product the
farmer was able to grow has ended up at the grocery store, and by the same means, the support for the
drones integration is bound to follow.
More acute compared to the agricultural and rural sectors, is the commercial interest of drones through
manufacturers and retailers like Amazon. These have come in headlines labeled as an innovation and
as an intrusion, bringing more opposition than other areas of use. In an article by Trevir Nath, it is
estimated that every year integration is delayed; the US loses $10 billion in financial growth (Nath 2).
This is undermined by the citizens of Syracuse who believe that as the nation becomes more
accustomed to drones...fewer people will oppose their use in war and in commercial application that
intrude upon American s privacy (Semuels 2). Such strong arguments have came to light because of
the growing drone hub in their area. They worry about the local economy as well, and more
importantly jobs. Dave Kashmer, a protestor, falls under the opposition, and stated It s not going to

Database Systems From The Point Of View Of The Architecture
2.9 CLIENT/SERVER ARCHITECTURE
So far in this chapter we have been discussing database systems from the point of view of the
architecture in Fig. 2.3. In this section we offer a slightly different perspective on the subject.
The overall purpose of a database system is to support the development and execution of database
application. From a high level point of view, therefore, such a system can be regarded as having a very
simple two part structure, consisting of a server, also called the back end, and a set of clients, also
called the front end (refer to Fig. 2.5). Explanation:
1. The server is just the DBMS itself. It supports all of the basic DBMS functions discussed in Section
2.8 data definition, data manipulation, data security and integrity, and so on. In other words, server in
this context is just another name for the DBMS.
2. The clients are the various applications that run on top of the DBMS both user written applications
and built in application (i.e., applications provided by the DBMS vendors or some third party). As far
as the server is concerned, of course, there is no difference between user written and built in
applications; they all use the same interface to the server namely, the external level interface discussed
in Section 2.3. (We note as an aside that, as mentioned in Section 2.5, certain special utility
applications might constitute an exception to the fore going, inasmuch as they might sometimes need
to operate directly at the internal level of

Difference Between Democracy And Democracy
There are many forms of government all over the world. Governments are very important to how they
allow the population to work together. Two of the most popular forms of government are a
dictatorship and a democracy. Both these governments have their own properties and are unique in
every country they are present in. Democracy is a form of government controlled by the whole
population or all the eligible members of the state, usually through elected representatives. A typical
representative democracy means it s the elected representative s job to represent their voters. A
democracy is seen in some of the most powerful states in the world.
Great Britain is one of the original democratic states. They ve been a democratic regime for many
years and have been a great role model for the rest of the world. Great Britain has shown that
democracy not only brings freedom but peace. Most democratic states are very peaceful.
Singapore had fought for its independence from the colonial grip of Great Britain. It is also a very
egalitarian and liberalized country. It has been one of the biggest trading posts in the world and has
become very wealthy. The (PAP) or People s Action Party was the first universal suffrage movement.
It s led the country for many years, provided many social welfare programs and the people are very
supportive of it. The party has been known for imprisonment and harassment but no known
disappearances.
Dictatorships are mostly a bad thing but

Mixed Culture And The Criminal Justice System
Culture concerns and influences, in conjunction with mixed culture, have a great effect on the justice
system we see in place today. Throughout this paper, these topics, as well as contemporary methods
that are used in societies of mixed culture and their relatedness and effect on nondiscrimination
policies will be analyzes and discussed. The nine principles related to Sir Robert Peel s position on
policing and the implications his theory may or may not have on organizing a police department in
America in today s day and age will also be examined. America has been deemed, and has always
been, a melting pot cultures, and with this mixing of very diverse cultures comes many different

Because it is unreasonable to think that every member of the criminal justice system was raised with
exposure and understanding of all cultures, it is imperative that the officer (or any form of
government) makes an effort to become culturally competent, especially in the cultures that they
primarily work with. The direct effect the mixing of so many cultures has on the justice system is that
it is constantly being challenged, reformed, and changed. When trying to create a black and white set
of laws, it is nearly impossible to encompass multiple cultures, for example many European countries
are doing away with capital punishment, which has been in practice for thousands of years, because of
the cultural shift deeming it as cruel and unusual punishment and while in America there are still states
that utilize capital punishment, it is obviously there is a similar trend here in its decline of supporters.
There are many contemporary methods used in societies of mixed cultures. There are many motions
set into place to create a fair and level justice system for all of the people who may come into contact
with it. On the most basic level, there is a trial given to those accused of a crime in front of a jury of
their peers, with emphasis on a jury of peers. This is important because it allows the jurors to have an
understanding of the

Nonprofit health care organizations are primary responsible and accountable to the communities and
populations they serve. They are legally and ethically bound to do good for the benefit of their
communities. Their governing bodies are comprised of leaders from the communities they serve. The
earnings and reserves of nonprofit health care organizations are reinvested to benefit the community.

III. Definition of Profit Health Care Organization.
For profit health care and organizations have a misconception that this automatically means higher
costs and a lower level of quality. There are several studies that directly contradict this assumption. In
a study that was conducted by Blue Cross, the findings showed that there was not an increase in costs
and that there was not a negative effect on the availability of health care.
For profit providers look at health care as a business, with a financial bottom line producing profits
that can be distributed to shareholders. Supporters of for profit health care say that increased
competition can produce a more efficient, effective, less expensive health care system. Since the
1980s, for profit health care facilities have proliferated, including national hospital chains, health

Eclipse Is An Open Source Integrated Development...
Milestone 12: Case Study Eclipse
Yujia Xie
I. Introduction
Eclipse is an open source Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for almost every computer
programming language over a dozen platforms (Mac, Linux, Windows, etc.). In fact, it is one of the
most popular IDEs nowadays for multiple programming languages, especially Java. Back in 2001,
Eclipse 1.0 came out as a framework, a flexible architecture that served as the building tool for
developers, providing a variety of accessible toolkits, private or public, to ease to process of
programming. Over the course of time, Eclipse takes in developers feedbacks and enhances its
accessibility and usability, releasing new versions with more functionality (i.e. Java Development
Tools, Plug in Development Environment, Rich Client Platform, etc.).
One of the core ideas behind Eclipse is to allow users (in this case developers) to write and share
modules (i.e. toolkits), different from the previous IDEs that hides their individual building classes.
For example, the pioneer Plug in Development Environment (PDE) for Eclipse was designed
specifically for this purpose, allowing developers to build and test their own plugins that would later
benefit the performance of Eclipse. Eclipse provide an environment that individual users can
manipulate the framework to facilitate their daily work. Like most of the open source software,
originally, Eclipse was written by a group of paid, full time developer, setting up the fundamental
structure at

The Characteristics Of Aborigines In The Secret River By...
In The Secret River, the emancipists that have been transported to Australia continuously mistreat and
disrespect the Aborigines, who are presented as the foundation of Australia. The Aborigines are forced
into hidden parts of Australia where they are massacred by poison they are tortured in a foreign way
by foreign people without cause. For over thousands of years, the Aborigines have lived in peace on
land that belonged to everybody, in a peaceful community. Grenville presents the Aborigines to be
strongly linked to nature. Grenville portrays the Aborigines as beautiful and empowered symbolised
by physical features. Oppositely the Aborigines are presented as vulnerable, animal like and Grenville
uses the novel to convey a message that the use of Australia as a penal colony has a negative effect on
the Aborigines and their culture. Throughout the novel, the Aborigines are presented as powerful
which is reflected in their very rigid facial features. Thornhill says the Aborigine s rock of his face
shaped itself around the big mouth, the imposing nose, the folds of his cheeks. . The adjectives big and
imposing emphasise the power and size of the face, Grenville conveys a message to the reader that the
Aborigine is extraordinary, she uses the to name the Aborigine s features instead of his which suggests
that the facial features are too substantial to belong to one person especially a person of lower status
than the emancipists. Grenville uses a metaphor, rock

Benefits Of Organ Replacement Using Cloning Technique
1. Counter argument: It has a great contribution to organ replacement. When scientists are dealing
with organ replacement using cloning technique, they no longer use Reproductive Cloning Technique
(RCT) but they use Therapeutic Cloning Technique (TCT). Both techniques require the same
laboratory procedures just that in RCT, they will insert the cloned embryos into the womb to grow
until birth and in TCT, they will kill the cloned embryos for the stem cell. This stem cell is what the
scientists get interested in because they could use this stem cell to generate and harvest new and
healthy organs that are entirely functioning. In the context of biology, the stem cell is very useful
because it just like the ultimate mother for every cell. It can differentiate into whatever cell when the
body needs. Therefore, when organ transplant is necessary for the patient, and there is no organ donor,
scientists could use the stem cell to produce the same organ for transplant and save life. Considering
the huge number of people on the organ donation waiting lists, this is extremely beneficial.
2. Supporting details: Embryonic stem cells act as an alternative source of cells because stem cell, can
differentiate into any desired tissues or cells. Combining tissue engineering and cloning technique,
replacement of organ by using the patient s own stem cell is possible at all stage.
3. Example: In the past few years, scientists and researchers have successfully cloned cardiac muscle

Airbus vs. Boeing
Stuart Taylor Chris Tillmanns November 13, 2002
The airline manufacturing industry consists of only two firms, Airbus in Toulouse, France and the
Chicago based Boeing. Two recent research and development moves at the two firms offer an insight
into the positioning strategy that each is taking in the future market place. It seems the two firms are
accenting two niche markets with a pair of flagship products, neither of which are in direct
competition with each other. This will allow for the firms to stave off price competition in the short
term by differentiating product lines, which is desirable given the recent increase in buyer power
gained by lowcost airlines.

Current Aircraft Market
The airline industry is in a downturn. In 2001, the International Air Transport Association had a net
loss of $17 billion, which is more than the industry has made in its entire history. 3 This has led to a
grim short term outlook for the airline manufacturers, and subsequently Boeing has cut 2002
production in half4 and Airbus by one fourth. 5 This, however, is not necessarily a good measure of
the industry s condition, since both companies have an extensive backlog that can be used to maintain
these new targets. Although the total backlog of 2,783 planes is worth an estimated $172 million
dollars6 it is also somewhat uncertain due to lax cancellation penalties negotiated by the airlines
during the boom years. Furthermore, the rise of low cost airlines does not directly translate into a
larger market for aircraft due to the fact that the success of low end carriers tends to reduce the
demand for aircraft by the large carriers.7 It is important to note however, that this is not a permanent
depression in the market, but a reflection of the cyclical nature of the industry.
Future Airline Industry Outlook

with the firms forecasting average annual growth of revenuepassenger kilometers at 4.2 and 4.9%

Powerful Women of The Faerie Queene and Paradise Lost Essay
Two very powerful female figures are presented in Error of The Faerie Queene, and Sin of Paradise

Error is by far the most disgustingly described of the two monsters. In Book 1, Canto 1, she is the first

feet, leaps as lyon fierce upon the flying pray,(146) and keeps here there to fight. This further shows
that the knight is just looking for a fight to impress the fair Una. After he strikes the beast with his

the knight gets himself into with the other evil female character, Duessa, who, figuratively, holds him

The Leadership Practice Of A Nursing Student
As a nursing student, I have had great success forming therapeutic relationships with my clients and
have received positive feedback from clinical instructors about my patient communication. However, I
experience uncertainty when interacting with peers or colleagues. My lack of confidence translates
into difficulty forming effective professional relationships. This assessment is reflected in my Clinical
Leadership Survey as a deficit in the leadership practice of Encouraging the Heart. This practice
includes behaviors such as recognizing contributions, celebrating accomplishments, and providing
feedback (Patrick, Laschinger, Finegan, and Wong, 2011).
The results of my baseline survey support the theory that my weakness is in interprofessional
communication. Alternatively however, I recorded equal strength of fourteen out of fifteen in the other
four leadership practices. Each of these four practices incorporates an element of Emotional
Intelligence and reflective practice. Based on my clinical experiences and feedback from instructors, I
agree with these results and can identify that interprofessional communication is the skill I must
develop to become an effective leader.

Ghosts And Spirits By Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

The average person may think of ghosts and spirits as something disguised in a white sheet with holes
for eyes, a ragged figure dragging chains and moaning. In addition, something floating through the air
and that can enter and exit rooms without the need to open doors. This is an example of the way
ghosts and spirits are usually described in stories or depicted in movies. It has been said that ghosts
and spirits are souls that cannot pass into the next world or dimension once they have died on earth.
Although, truth be told that all ghosts and spirits have a purpose to be able to travel through two

It is also not uncommon to meet former family at the time of death that delivers help to the afterlife.
All of these guides will normally always create a successful transition in and out of the world.
Pursuing this further, Elisabeth Kubler Ross describes that it is important to know that every single
human being, from the moment of birth until the moment when they make the transition and end this
physical existence, is in the presence of guides or guardian angels that will give you aid to the
transition from life after death . Basically, the psychopomp is another way to help the spirits get
through to the other side (animals, friends, former family and guardian angels). The psychopomp is a
person that is born with this talent in guiding with the transitions. It is also a skill that can be leant, the
primary function is not to reconnect the living with the dead, but to help the spirits cross over.

Analysis Of Ronald Harry Coase s The Marginal Cost...
Ronald Harry Coase, an Emeritus Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago Law School.
Dr. Couse was awarded a Nobel Prize in Economics in 1991 for his work in the field of the Theory of
Market Institutions contributing to the line between economics, law and organization. The foundations
of Couse s beliefs were that serious economists should not study theoretical markets and instead
should concentrate all their efforts on real world markets. Dr. Coase is best known for two well
established articles The Nature of the Firm (1937) and The Problem of Social Cost (1960). The book
itself if a collection of these two critically acclaimed articles and three additional articles; The
Marginal Cost Controversy (1946), Industrial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Coase s main points brought together in his introduction and additional notes, but drawn from his
scholarly articles begin with the concept that the choice between how a firm is organized and how the
market is organized is varied and will continue to be varied, but not because of changes in technology.
Instead, both individual firms and the market as a whole are organized so that each attempts to
minimize or economize inherent transaction costs. Coase goes on to explain that the study of these
tangible and material transaction costs is actually a study of opportunity cost. Charlie Munger, Warren
Buffet s less media attention grabbing partner, explains opportunity costs very succinctly and points a
finger in the eye of economic professors; Everything is based on opportunity costs. Academia has
done a terrible disservice: they teach in one sentence in first year economics about opportunity costs,
but that s it. In life, if opportunity A is better than B, and you have only one opportunity, you do A.
This is Coase s point, that firms and the market deal with the information at hand and make decisions
in a world of scarce resources. Given a choice between A and B, then the one with the maximized
value will be logically chosen every time. If in the real world study of a firm or market that the logical
choice wasn t chosen, then the economist has not values all the tangible benefits and costs that were
weighed by decision makers,

The Workforce Is Growing Older As The Population Ages
The workforce is growing older as the population ages. The elderly in this generation are living
significantly longer. The amount of older workers is increasing due to the baby boomer generation.
The number of older workers over 55 is projected to grow at nearly four times the rate of the overall
labor force (Shultz, pg.7) Many older workers are choosing to stay in the workforce. An increasing
amount of older workers are choosing to prolong retirement. Population aging will significantly
increase the amount of older workers. Between 1977 and 2007, employment of workers 65 and over
increased 101 percent, compared to a much smaller increase of 59 percent for total employment (16
and over). The number of employed men 65 and over rose 75 ... Show more content on

The number of workers between the ages of 65 and 74 and those aged 75 and up are predicted to soar
by more than 80 percent. By 2016, workers age 65 and over are expected to account for 6.1 percent of
the total labor force, up sharply from their 2006 share of 3.6 percent (U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics,
2008). The majority of older adults remain in the workforce due to the economic downturn and not
being able to afford retirement. Older adults continue to work in order to gain financial stability. Many
workers age 65 and older are unprepared for retirement.
Older workers are working longer due to the decrease in financial assets, low interest rates, shift to
401(k) s, higher social security retirement age, and longevity. There has been a significant decrease in
the value of retirement assets. With the shift away from defined benefit and towards defined
contribution pensions like 401(k)s, changes in financial markets have a more direct effect on many
workers retirement savings (Orszag, 2009). Financial assets have lost value because of the financial
crisis. Many older adults lost a large amount of their financial assets because they withdrew funds
from their financial accounts in order to survive the financial crisis. Some 62 percent of people
between ages 45 and 60 experienced at least a 20 percent decline in the value of their financial assets
since the beginning of the crisis, compared with only 42 percent in 2010, according to the Conference

Land Of Opportunity In British Columbia
The reasons that British Columbia was not a land of opportunity were the physical landscape of BC
was inhospitable for migrants, the weather in BC was terrible, and the gold source was depleting due
to over mining. This statement, with supporting evidence presented in this essay will show that due to
the gold rush many people arrived in BC, but when the gold source started to deplete, many migrants
soon found out BC was not a land of opportunity. First, the reason that made BC not a land of
opportunity was the harsh physical environment. In the document by C. Gardiner, he talked about he
has encountered many physical barriers when he was traveling along the Fraser River. In addition, he
also encountered the Red Skin Indians where they stole

Jamaica Kincaid A Small Place
A Small Place Analytical Essay
Jamaica Kincaid s text A Small Place, is structured in four untitled sections. In the first section, we
hear Kincaid s narration of how the reader would feel going to Antigua, as a hypothetical tourist. She
tells us what we she, how we witness the beautiful natural island. She then; proceeds through the text
to give us some inside information, like how the majority of the cars are imported from Japan, and are
expensive and poorly running. She also tells or gives us brief views, of the mansions located on the
island, which was made through criminality or corruption. She mentions a library, which took damage
from an earthquake many years ago, and that it is awaiting to be repaired. Our tour ends at the hotel, ...

These questions are about if she thinks, that the island actually was better in the old days as a colonial.
She starts talking about the old damaged library again, and how it has been forced to be moved on top
of a store. Kincaid then, starts missing the old library as it was, and recalled her sitting and reading in
the beautiful library as a child. Also, she remembers that the librarian suspected her stealing, but that
he s now trying to collect funds to rebuild the old library. She then, tells that the wealthy members of
the Mill Reef club, have more than enough money to help rebuild it, but won t do so. Kincaid then,
briefly talks about some of the politics of Antigua, as an example, how ironic it is that there s a
minister of culture in Antigua, while she doesn t think there s an original culture left. After this, she
shortly talks about the education level of Antigua, and that it has been worsened over the years, so
much that the youth don t really know how to speak proper.
Kincaid examines the way Antiguans encounter the progression of time, and associates this to their
strangely withdrew perspective of the defilement of their

Elizabethan England Women
The Elizabeth era is a unique period in Western European history as it is characterized by a woman
being in a charge of a successful reign. During Queen Elizabeth s monarchy, Renaissance became
more widespread and more of the nobility became educated in a humanist manner. Also, because
Protestantism was the official religion of the reign, more men of lower scales received an education as
well. William Shakespeare was one of those men. Theatre hit a hit point during Elizabethan England
and Shakespeare wrote many plays, including As You Like It. Although the play is a comedy, many
aspects from the story reflect trends of the England s Elizabethan period. Within the theme of
education in the nobility, the girls Rosalind and Celia are highly educated. ... Show more content on

Oliver plots to kill Orlando and Duke Frederick steals the throne from Duke Senior, while in real life
England, her cousin Mary queen of Scots plots to kill Elizabeth and take her place in the throne.
Spielvogel says that during her years of house arrest under Elizabeth s watch, Mary was involved in
many Catholic plots intended to kill the Queen and restore Catholicism in an England led by Mary
herself (397). On the other hand, Orlando s loyalty and care for Adam in the forest and the risking of
his life to save his brother Oliver from a lioness can be compared to Elizabeth s loyalty to her people,
her throne, and all it represented. Spielvogel recalls a passage from the Queen s speech, where she
says ...I assure you, I do not desire to live to distrust my faithful and loving people

Description Of A Static Ip Address
A static IP address is an IP address that was manually configured for a device, verses one that was
assigned via a DHCP server. A static IP address is called static because it doesn t change. This is the
exact opposite of a dynamic IP address, which does change. Static IP addresses are also sometimes
referred to as fixed IP addresses or dedicated IP addresses. A different technique to think about a new
static IP target is actually to think about such as an email target, or possibly a bodily property target.
These address tend not to actually adjust there re static also it tends to make getting in touch with or
perhaps discovering somebody super easy. In the same manner, a new static IP target is advantageous
when your number an internet site from home, have a very document server inside your circle, are
applying networked models, usually are owning a produce server, or perhaps if you utilize a new out
of the way accessibility program. Just because a static IP target never adjustments, different devices
constantly realize exactly how to contact a tool that uses one particular. For example, declare people
set up a new static IP target pertaining to one of many pcs at home multilevel. In the event the
computer has a unique target associated with it, it is possible to set up your current router to be able to
constantly forward a number of incoming asks for straight to that computer. Definitely not having a
static IP target using a new dynamic IP that may change would likely be

Call Of The Wild Transformation
In The Call of the Wild, by Jack London, the protagonist, Buck, is a dog who has been kidnapped
from his home in Santa Clara Valley in California and forced to join various dogsled teams being led
across Alaska and Northern Canada. Over the course of the book, Buck undergoes a change from
being a domesticated dog to a wild dog, learning how unforgiving and cruel the world is. After being
wronged and experiencing many upsetting moments, Buck finds that his primitive instincts start to
take over, dominating his civilized side and turning him into a feral dog. In the end, when his last bond
with the human world is broken, Buck succumbs completely to the call of the wild.
Buck is introduced to the reader as a somewhat pampered, domesticated ... Show more content on

Although he learns quickly and pulls the sled well, Buck has a problem when he eats his food. Not
only is the portion of fish he is given is too small, he eats too daintily which leads to other dogs
stealing his food. Buck starts eating more quickly but the amount of fish he gets is still too scanty. He
was so hungry that he started to steal food from the men when they were not looking, a skill he picked
up by watching one of the other dogs. In fact one day he steals an entire chunk of bacon and watches
as another dog get punished for his crime. This first theft marked Buck as fit to survive in the hostile
Northland environment. . . . It marked, further, the decay or going to pieces of his moral nature, a vain
thing and a handicap in the ruthless struggle for existence. It was all well enough in the Southland,
under the law of love and fellowship, to respect private property and personal feelings; but in the
Northland, under the law of club and fang, whoso took such things into account. . . would fail to
prosper. (P. 22) In other words, this is where Buck starts to make his change from a domesticated dog
to a wild dog, as his primitive instincts

  • 2. Genetic Disorders Should Not Be Allowed To Have Children... So, even if you didn t recognize the disease as genetic, you ve certainly run into someone with a far reaching genetic disorder. A disorder that left them borderline unable to function, perhaps a disorder that left their ability to think or remember things severely limited, a disorder that hindered them in all aspects of their lives, or even a disorder that lead to such frailty, that they could die within the next ten years. Everyone has seen someone like this, whether family or not, now should they be able to have a chance to spread their disorder further, through having children? Using common sense, and various government websites detailing the multitude of genetic disorders and how easily and randomly they can be inherited, anyone can come to the quick conclusion that they shouldn t be able to. Now, this view that people with debilitating genetic disorders shouldn t be able to reproduce comes not out of a place of hatred, but truly and honestly out of sympathy. People with such awful disorders shouldn t be allowed to have children. Now, if someone were to examine the research, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It just makes sense, if no one with life threatening genetic disorders had children, then we would stop seeing most of these genetic disorders appear. No more would be the sorry sights of the horribly impaired, and no longer would you be forced to learn of the deaths of young infants from such ruthless disorders. Now, some might say that this is highly immoral, they might ask who has the right to tell someone that they are or aren t allowed to have children. However, isn t letting someone, old or young, suffer and die a painful death, or letting someone ignorantly glide through life without any ounce of understanding of what they are even doing, even more morally bankrupt? • 3. The Fourth Amendment Of The Fourth Amendment When the colonists established the bill of rights in the 18th century, the fourth amendment seemed unambiguous. The government needed to respect the right for people to be secure in their persons, house, papers and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures and not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause. The difference between today and eighteenth century is that many more situations have come up that weren t around during the eighteenth century. New technologies, new threats and new circumstances have risen that may diminish the restriction on the fourth amendment. In order to protect society from new threats and circumstances in America, the Supreme Court expands their understanding of the fourth amendment to apply it to the new world. The idea of the respect for privacy antedates American law. Over one thousand years ago a Roman statesman by the name of Cicero says that there is nothing that should be less dishonored than the home of man and it is immoral to violate his place of safety. Although this may true, government has always had a thirst for information. One major example of this is between the English kingdom and the thirteen colonies. Until 1768 there was something known as the salutary neglect were Britain wasn t enforcing many of their laws. Due to the major debt from the French and Indian war, laws involving taxes and controlling American smugglers, needed to be put in place. One key aspect that helped enforce these ... • 7. Christina Rossetti s A Triad Individuals in society are compelled and feel restricted to follow certain social rules, but for some, their emotions towards the restrictions are negative. Many find different ways to release their constrained emotions, such as art, writing, music and physical activity. In like manner, Christina Rossetti releases her feelings and opinions about restrictions and situations occurring around her, which is evident in her sonnet A Triad. Christina Rossetti s Petrarchan sonnet, A Triad, was published in the 1800s; during this period, the image and presentation of women was strict and had to be upheld. In A Triad, Rossetti is expressing the lack of variety, labels and freedom of women through the three women illustrated in the poem. The three women are categorized under married and lack of love, ideal woman, and promiscuous. Rossetti s expressions about the society s restrictions on women are evident in her use of symbolism of colours and words that are chosen to rhyme. Rossetti s use of symbolism elaborates on the restriction and lack of freedom women possess. The three women are categorized into their labels and are structured in the poem one after the other. The symbolism of colours is exemplified in the descriptions of the three women; the colours presented are red, blue, and white. The symbolism of red and blue possess an opposition in meaning: Red symbolizes passion, lust and love, whereas blue signifies sadness and despair. One woman is labelled as promiscuous with ... • 9. The During The Age Of Reformation Essay During the Age of Reformation people were greatly against the abuses that existed in the Roman Catholic Church. A couple of abuses that were greatly stressed were the selling of indulgences, simony, and nepotism. It was some of these same abuses that prompted German reformist Martin Luther to write his 95 Theses. And for the Council of Trent to later address them in a series of meetings. The most criticized abuse of the Roman Catholic Church was the selling of indulgences by the pope. Indulgences permitted people to buy release from time in purgatory for both themselves and their deceased loved ones. They were papers sold in order to bring remission of punishment due to sins. Another common abuse that existed in the Church was simony. Simony is the act of selling of Church positions. The Church had permitted important ecclesiastical posts to be sold to the highest bidders and had left residency requirements in the religious community unenforced. A last abuse of the Church is nepotism. Nepotism is the act of giving jobs to family members instead of giving it to more qualified workers. This was a common problem where a well trained and dedicated worker was needed and not just anyone. In 1517, when reformist Martin Luther wrote an indictment of the abuses of the Roman Catholic Church called the 95 Theses, he appealed to many people across Europe. In his indictment he greatly criticized and addressed the selling of indulgences above all. At first, a person would have to do work ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. A Theory Of Justice By John Rawls Essay In my discussion of this piece of text I will attempt to present an argument which suggests rational individuals behind a veil of ignorance would assent to the two primary principles of justice found in Rawls A theory of justice . I will also analyse the extract, in particular debating whether various propositions made by Rawls in this extract are true. Initially it is important to situate the extract of discussion. Section 3 of A theory of justice is the opening of Rawls argument in A theory of justice , where he introduces his original position , stating how rational individuals in a hypothetical scenario, behind a veil of ignorance, would agree to two principles of justice which would determine the way social institutions would be organised and how primary goods would be distributed. This section also shows Rawls agreement with the idea of hypothetical consent , an idea which suggests that because free and rational individuals behind a veil of ignorance would agree to Rawls two principles of social justice; they hypothetically consent to the principles of the social contract . Initially I will analyse this extract in detail, focusing the claims and propositions made by Rawls. Rawls claims that no society can...be a scheme of cooperation which men enter voluntarily . Rawls belief in this leads to his agreement with the idea of hypothetical consent, however, what if it is possible for society to be a scheme of voluntary consent, perhaps taking part in a vote ... • 14. Palm Oil Growth And Sustainability Palm Oil Growth in Peru Slows as Land Suitability and Sustainability Take Top Priority Palm is a tree crop suited to cultivation in climatic conditions similar to those of the tropical rainforest. From 1999 to 2009, global production more than doubled. Thirty years ago, palm oil accounted for less than 2 percent but now accounts for 37 percent of vegetable oil consumption worldwide, and palm has displaced soy as the world s most important vegetable oil. Palm oil is used as a biofuel, for cooking, and in a wide range of other items, including food products, cosmetics, soaps and detergents. Malaysia and Indonesia produce 85 percent of the world s palm oil. Expansion in these two countries is expected to diminish by 2022, however, as land suitable for additional palm oil production dwindles. As an alternative, developers are looking to other regions for expansion, including Latin America. Estimates suggest that Peru has the second largest area potentially suitable for increased oil palm production within this region. Area Expansion In 2003, the Peruvian government announced that the production of biofuels, including palm oil, would be a priority. Before 2006, palm expansion in Peru was slow and occurred mainly on already cleared land (mostly pastures and secondary growth forests, as opposed to old growth forests.) I recognize this poem as a song written by Harry McClintock in 1928. The song is one of the few that can still make sense in today s culture and society and in my opinion is the mark of a truly great writer. The speaker of the poem is a hobo that was hiking on the trails. Given that the poem was written in 1928, during the Great Depression, he sounds wistful and hopeful of the mystical Big Rock Candy Mountains. He is talking to some folks he happened to pass by on his way down the track. The speaker ultimately sounds like someone who is down on their luck and only has hope left. The theme for this poem is dreams and wishful thinking. The author illustrates this by having the poem have a nice upbeat tone to it. • 20. Taking a Look at Sedum or Stonecrop Sedum (Sedum spp.), or stonecrop, is a resilient succulent that consists of about 400 species that can grow pink, white, red or yellow, butterfly attracting, star shaped flowers. Although some varieties can thrive in warmer zones, most are hardy to U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 3 through 9. Because these zones can experience sometimes unexpected cold temperatures and frost, knowing which type of stonecrop to grow is essential to your success. (See References 1 and 2) About Sedums Sedums varieties can range in height; some low growing varieties reach no more than 2 inches in height, while some tall varieties can reach up to 2 feet or more. The low growing varieties work well in rock gardens and make good ground cover, while the tall varieties work well in borders or as cut flowers. • 21. A Comparison Of Mi Familia And Fools Rush In For my comparison I watched the 1997 movie Fools Rush In, written by Katherine Reback and Joan Taylor. This film features Matthew Perry (playing the role of an white architect from NY) and Salma Hayek (playing Isabel Fuentes a Mexican American photographer). Alex and Isabel hit it off at first sight and end up having a one night stand. Isabel gets pregnant from that night, and the two ends up trying to make a relationship work despite their vastly different cultural backgrounds. The parents of the two young lovers have extremely different values and family ideals which lead to confrontation. Long story short, Alex and Isabel work through their differences and get married with full support of both families in the end. The mothers have no say in the argument, reinforcing that the male is the voice and authority of the family. This sicker population might utilize a significant amount of healthcare services. In order to cater to this demand insurance companies will resort to raising the premiums, dissuading healthy people from buying insurance. As the pool of people covered by insurance becomes sicker it continues to drive up costs leading to a vicious cycle where each year fewer and fewer healthy individuals obtain insurance. This process is called adverse selection. By implementing the individual mandate, we introduce healthy people into the insurance pool. The healthy individuals mitigate the cost of sicker individuals. A number of ecological difficulties such as drought contributed to the famine, but it was grain requisitioning imposed by the Bolshevik regime and the government s decision to hide the true severity of the famine that made the it truly detrimental to Russia. Struggling to deal with the civil war and the famine unfolding in Russia, the Bolsheviks imposed a grain requisitioning policy called Prodrazvyorstka on the Russian people. The grain that was confiscated would then be distributed in order to feed the starving cities, and perhaps more importantly in the eyes of the Bolsheviks; feed the Red Army. • 24. The Effect Of Fructose On The Growth Of Fructose Introduction Fructose is a hexose carbon sugar that is a major carbohydrate in fruits. Although it is one of three sugars with same chemical formula C6H12O6, along with glucose and galactose, they all have diverse chemical structures. Fructose can be derived from fruits and several vegetables, as well as from honey and flowers. While there are various sources of dietary fructose, other sugar have been introduced into our diet. Sucrose is a disaccharide by two simple sugars, fructose and glucose, bonding. It is commercially derived from cane sugar, sugar beets and corn, which go through refinement processes such as bleaching and crystallisation, and lacks in vitamins and minerals. The consumption of fructose throughout history has remained at a stable low level, however humans grew accustom to the addition of sucrose in their diet as it became extensively accessible. With new technologies of the 1960s, the development of high fructose syrup was implemented and introduced into the market. This inexpensive mixture containing approximately 55% of fructose and 45% of glucose, became an enticing alternative to sucrose derived from cane sugar. Today, a large portion of our fructose intake is sourced from these two forms of sugar. The arguments made that sugar is toxic is dependent on type of sugar and how the body processes it. By definition, a toxin is a poison produced by a living organism, which has a negative impact on the effected organism s metabolic function. Glucose can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So really no matter how harsh the circumstances, we all can be positive. Findings from a study conducted a few years ago by neuroscientist Elizabeth Phelps suggest that directing our thoughts of the future toward the positive is a result of our frontal cortex communicating with subcortical regions deep in our brain. The frontal cortex, a large area behind the forehead, is the most recently evolved part of the brain. It is larger in humans than in other primates and is critical for many complex human functions such as language and goal setting. We just have to use that frontal cortex and decide to choose the positive route. So now we know how beneficial it is for us to use that daily optimistic thinking. Database Systems From The Point Of View Of The Architecture 2.9 CLIENT/SERVER ARCHITECTURE So far in this chapter we have been discussing database systems from the point of view of the architecture in Fig. 2.3. In this section we offer a slightly different perspective on the subject. The overall purpose of a database system is to support the development and execution of database application. From a high level point of view, therefore, such a system can be regarded as having a very simple two part structure, consisting of a server, also called the back end, and a set of clients, also called the front end (refer to Fig. 2.5). Explanation: 1. The server is just the DBMS itself. It supports all of the basic DBMS functions discussed in Section 2.8 data definition, data manipulation, data security and integrity, and so on. In other words, server in this context is just another name for the DBMS. 2. The clients are the various applications that run on top of the DBMS both user written applications and built in application (i.e., applications provided by the DBMS vendors or some third party). As far as the server is concerned, of course, there is no difference between user written and built in applications; they all use the same interface to the server namely, the external level interface discussed in Section 2.3. Two of the most popular forms of government are a dictatorship and a democracy. Both these governments have their own properties and are unique in every country they are present in. Democracy is a form of government controlled by the whole population or all the eligible members of the state, usually through elected representatives. A typical representative democracy means it s the elected representative s job to represent their voters. A democracy is seen in some of the most powerful states in the world. Great Britain is one of the original democratic states. They ve been a democratic regime for many years and have been a great role model for the rest of the world. Introduction Eclipse is an open source Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for almost every computer programming language over a dozen platforms (Mac, Linux, Windows, etc.). In fact, it is one of the most popular IDEs nowadays for multiple programming languages, especially Java. Back in 2001, Eclipse 1.0 came out as a framework, a flexible architecture that served as the building tool for developers, providing a variety of accessible toolkits, private or public, to ease to process of programming. Over the course of time, Eclipse takes in developers feedbacks and enhances its accessibility and usability, releasing new versions with more functionality (i.e. Java Development Tools, Plug in Development Environment, Rich Client Platform, etc.). One of the core ideas behind Eclipse is to allow users (in this case developers) to write and share modules (i.e. toolkits), different from the previous IDEs that hides their individual building classes. For example, the pioneer Plug in Development Environment (PDE) for Eclipse was designed specifically for this purpose, allowing developers to build and test their own plugins that would later benefit the performance of Eclipse. Eclipse provide an environment that individual users can manipulate the framework to facilitate their daily work. For over thousands of years, the Aborigines have lived in peace on land that belonged to everybody, in a peaceful community. Grenville presents the Aborigines to be strongly linked to nature. Grenville portrays the Aborigines as beautiful and empowered symbolised by physical features. Oppositely the Aborigines are presented as vulnerable, animal like and Grenville uses the novel to convey a message that the use of Australia as a penal colony has a negative effect on the Aborigines and their culture. Throughout the novel, the Aborigines are presented as powerful which is reflected in their very rigid facial features. Thornhill says the Aborigine s rock of his face shaped itself around the big mouth, the imposing nose, the folds of his cheeks. . The adjectives big and imposing emphasise the power and size of the face, Grenville conveys a message to the reader that the Aborigine is extraordinary, she uses the to name the Aborigine s features instead of his which suggests that the facial features are too substantial to belong to one person especially a person of lower status than the emancipists. • 36. Benefits Of Organ Replacement Using Cloning Technique 1. Counter argument: It has a great contribution to organ replacement. When scientists are dealing with organ replacement using cloning technique, they no longer use Reproductive Cloning Technique (RCT) but they use Therapeutic Cloning Technique (TCT). Both techniques require the same laboratory procedures just that in RCT, they will insert the cloned embryos into the womb to grow until birth and in TCT, they will kill the cloned embryos for the stem cell. This stem cell is what the scientists get interested in because they could use this stem cell to generate and harvest new and healthy organs that are entirely functioning. In the context of biology, the stem cell is very useful because it just like the ultimate mother for every cell. It can differentiate into whatever cell when the body needs. Therefore, when organ transplant is necessary for the patient, and there is no organ donor, scientists could use the stem cell to produce the same organ for transplant and save life. Considering the huge number of people on the organ donation waiting lists, this is extremely beneficial. 2. Supporting details: Embryonic stem cells act as an alternative source of cells because stem cell, can differentiate into any desired tissues or cells. Although the total backlog of 2,783 planes is worth an estimated $172 million dollars6 it is also somewhat uncertain due to lax cancellation penalties negotiated by the airlines during the boom years. Furthermore, the rise of low cost airlines does not directly translate into a larger market for aircraft due to the fact that the success of low end carriers tends to reduce the demand for aircraft by the large carriers.7 It is important to note however, that this is not a permanent depression in the market, but a reflection of the cyclical nature of the industry. Instead, both individual firms and the market as a whole are organized so that each attempts to minimize or economize inherent transaction costs. Coase goes on to explain that the study of these tangible and material transaction costs is actually a study of opportunity cost. Academia has done a terrible disservice: they teach in one sentence in first year economics about opportunity costs, but that s it. In life, if opportunity A is better than B, and you have only one opportunity, you do A. This is Coase s point, that firms and the market deal with the information at hand and make decisions in a world of scarce resources. Given a choice between A and B, then the one with the maximized value will be logically chosen every time. If in the real world study of a firm or market that the logical choice wasn t chosen, then the economist has not values all the tangible benefits and costs that were weighed by decision makers, ... The majority of older adults remain in the workforce due to the economic downturn and not being able to afford retirement. Older adults continue to work in order to gain financial stability. There has been a significant decrease in the value of retirement assets. With the shift away from defined benefit and towards defined contribution pensions like 401(k)s, changes in financial markets have a more direct effect on many workers retirement savings (Orszag, 2009). Financial assets have lost value because of the financial crisis. Many older adults lost a large amount of their financial assets because they withdrew funds from their financial accounts in order to survive the financial crisis. Some 62 percent of people between ages 45 and 60 experienced at least a 20 percent decline in the value of their financial assets since the beginning of the crisis, compared with only 42 percent in 2010, according to the Conference Board ...
