Difference Between Nominal And Nominal Scale
Nominal Scale
Nominal scale is also known as labels. It is most commonly used for labelling variables without any
quantitative values assigned to it. In this classification of data is done without any measurement.
Example:
We can understand the nominal scale in more detail with below example:
A normal question asked to a boy that what is the colour of his hairs and below options are given to
him.
a.) Black b.) Brown c.) Gray d.) Blonde e.) Other
If you notice in above example all the mentioned options are mutually exclusive which means no
overlap and even none of them carry any numerical significance. The best way to remember is that
nominal seems more like a name and the nominal scale seems like labels.
Let s take one more example:
What is your gender?
a.) Male b.) Female
In this case, the nominal scale has only 2 categories i.e., male and female and this kind of nominal
scale are known as dichotomous.
Sometimes in statistical analysis, non numeric variables are given numeric values. For example,
students who eat healthy breakfast are +1, the students who eat an unhealthy breakfast are 0 and the
students who do not eat breakfast are 1. This is the way to get who is in which group but don t really
have value.
Ordinal Scale
An Ordinal scale is a measurement which looks at the variables where order matters but the difference
does not matter. While thinking of the ordinal you must think about the word order. Hence, it is easy
to remember as in this scale only order

Apple In China Case Study Essay
1. Introduction
With the economic globalization, More and more multinational enterprises expanded their business
abroad by using different market entry strategy. As Lechner and Boli (2012) claimed that the world
economic trends and cycles of the past two decades have made it increasingly apparent that the
production and distribution of goods take place in complex global networks that tie together groups,
organizations, and regions. In this paper, we focus on the IT Industry which is more and more popular
in China, and then analyzed four giant IT guys: Apple, IBM, Dell and Samsung. They entered Chinese
market during the different period. Even though some of their businesses are similar, their growth path
and the strategies they used are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among these are competitive strategy, political and social ideology, institutional, and cultural barriers
that are difficult for Western firms to overcome. (Yaprak, 2012).
In sum, the key to effective entry into emerging markets appears to lie in overcoming both the soft
entry barriers through advancing managerial understanding of the institutional contexts of these
markets, and surmounting the hard entry barriers, both structural, such as cost, capital, and product
differentiation advantages established by the incumbents, and strategic, such as those that are
purposefully erected by the incumbents. (Yaprak, 2012).

What Are The Causes Of The War Of 1812 Essay
Robins, Josh
Mr. Sundermeier
World Studies 9
April 8. 2016
The War of 1812
In this essay I will be discussing the major events and battles that took place during the War of 1812.
It started in 1812 and lasted until the spring of 1815. There were three main causes for the war taking
place, America trading with parts of Europe(France), the Impressment, and the possible desire on the
part of the United States to annex Canada, The War of 1812 ended as a stalemate in the spring of
1815. The War of 1812 was a war that never should have been fought.
America Trading With France

America hated this because the British were literally taking american people and making them fight
for someone else.
Why did America want to annex Canada
America wanted to annex Canada because it had a lot of resources that America would have loved to
get there hands on the great amount of resources that America could have used. America also wanted
to annex canada because it would have been a huge amount of territory gain for america and it would
have made America a super country, it would have been a metaphorical spit in the face to Great
Britain.
How did the war end?
The war of 1812 ended as a stalemate in 1814 when the downfall of Napoleon allowed the British to
distribute more military resources to the war, Washington D.C., fell to the British in August. While In
Washington, British troops burned the White House down, and other buildings in retaliation for the
earlier burning of government buildings in Canada by the US soldiers. The British soon retreated, and
Fort McHenry in Baltimore harbor withstood a massive British continuous attack and inspired Francis

Features And Functions Of Information Systems Essay
Features and functions of information systems
Features
Data
Data needs to be inputted into an information system so it can be managed and processed. Once
processed, the end product is information, this is called an output. Data is generated by all parts of a
business but can also be received via external sources. Data must be accurate or else the output
information will be wrong.
People
People are involved in obtaining data and processing it to create information for specific purposes
relevant to the business. Staff need to have the correct training and skills to get the most out of
information systems and make them effective employees to get information and process it properly.
Hardware
The hardware used in information systems must be capable of using software used in the business, as
well as handle the grand amount of data and information processed and stored on it as well. The
hardware must be up to date to enable storage and use of data and information in the future.
Software
Software used by the business and its staff must have the correct features and functionality needed to
produce and use information created by the business. It must also have the correct features to enable
staff to correctly and efficiently do their job such as analysing and processing data and reports.
Functions of information systems
Information systems perform functions such as gathering input data, storing it, processing it and then
producing output information. They also control this

Classical Vs. Keynesian Models Essay
Classical vs Keynesian models
Two economic models of thought are classical and Keynesian models. Each model takes a diverse
approach to the economic education of financial policy, buyer behavior, and government spending.
The classical model, which traces its origins to the 1770s, was the first systematic attempt to explain
the determinants of the price level and the national levels of real GDP, employment, consumption,
savings, and investments. Classical economist Adam Smith and others assumed that all wages and
prices were flexible and that competitive markets existed throughout the economy. Classical economic
theory is fixed in the theory of an (no government) unrestrictive economic market. This model
especially its focus toward macroeconomics relies on four major assumptions: pure competition exists,
wages and prices are flexible, people are motivated by self interest, and people cannot be fooled by
money illusion.
Flexible Prices are the prices of everything; supplies, employment (incomes), property (rent), etc.
must be mutually ascending and descending. However, in truth, it has been perceived that these prices
are not as freely elastic downwards as they are upwards, due to a multiplicity of market limitations,
resembling unions, and laws. Flexible prices confirm that markets regulate to equilibrium and
decrease deficiencies and overages. Say s Law proposes that the aggregate production in an economy
must generate an income enough to purchase all the economy s

Authorship Of Hebrews
The author for the book of Hebrews is unknown, as there is no ascription or introduction given by the
author; therefore, scholars may only propose possible authors without confirming who it is. With that
said, many scholars have pushed for Pauline because in earlier manuscripts Hebrews followed
Romans which they thought warranted Pauline authorship. Some of the early church fathers believe
that there is Pauline influence, however, not Pauline authorship simply for the reason that Hebrews
seems to be written by a well educated Greek with elaborate and complex language. There are other
suggestions made by scholars, most of which they are unable to support. Pricilla is one example, it
would be fitting for her authorship of Hebrews based on her being in Paul s inner circle and the book
having Pauline influence, however, one would have to look past the strong presence of the authors
masculine self reference. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, Luke translates Barnabas to mean son of consolation which ties into Hebrews being a word
of consolation (Johnson). He is also described as interacting with Paul through missions, which Paul
confirms in his letters, however, this does not confirm his authorship as there are also various things
that would not agree with his authorship. Lastly, there is discussion concerning Apollos as the author
of Hebrews, there are many connections that have been made, such as, Apollos being a Jew and
Hebrews showing strong knowledge of Judaism, Apollos being well learned in the Scriptures and the
intricate scriptural citations used in Hebrews, among other things. Though there are many aspects that
agree with Apollos authorship, it must only be speculation due to the disagreements that also arise in
the argument for his

Effects Of CAI On Students With Disabilities
STUDENT AT RISK AND WITH DISABILITIES Recently, CAI has become an acceptable
instructional strategy to provide several academic outcomes for at risk students and those with
disabilities. Even though there has been research on the effects and implications of CAI on students
without disabilities, there is limited research evidence about the effects of CAI on students with
disabilities. Ross et al., (1991) assessed the effects of CAI on students attitudes toward school, grades,
computer skills, standardized test scores, and teacher evaluations using the Apple Classroom of
Tomorrow (ACOT) program. Subjects were at risk seventh grade students. Results showed that the
CAI group was successful in math and reading compared to the control group. However, they reported
that some academic achievements were lost and students remained at risk because of lack of on going
computer use and limited access to computer lab after the two year experiment. Considering the
importance of time and on task behaviors in CAI, Salerno (1995) examined the mathematics
achievements of at risk fifth graders. In this study, students were randomly assigned to three groups:
extended computer time; extended time on task, and control group. All students participated in CAI,
but the extended time computer group used an extra 60 minutes per week with CAI, and the extended
time on task group used special workbooks with an equal amount of instructional time independently.

The Legal Counsel At Baylor University
As an entity that caters to a vast array of individuals including students, faculty, staff, visitors, and
many more, colleges and institutions of higher education are highly vulnerable to be faced with
lawsuits. To provide legal counsel for the institution and those who are considered a part of the
institution, colleges and universities employ a general counsel. The general counsel at Baylor
University is tasked with, managing and supervising all legal affairs for the University (General
Counsel, N.D.). Two of the current lawsuits against the university are regarding alleged Title IX
violations based on how the university acted or failed to act when students reported sexual assault
claims. The purpose of this paper is to provide a brief overview of the Title IX cases that are currently
pending against Baylor University, examine the issue from a local standpoint while comparing the
University of Iowa and Baylor University s general counsels, and finally to discuss the impact of the
lawsuits at a broader level.
Baylor University is currently facing three separate Title IX lawsuits, all stemming from the university
s alleged inaction and mishandling of sexual assault reports (Perez, 2016). One lawsuit was filed by
one individual, while the second lawsuit was filed by three individuals, and the third was filed by one
individual. The five individuals filing the lawsuits are female identifying students and former students
at Baylor University. All five individuals felt as

coming from too many sides the Texans couldn t defend themselves that good. Most of the women and
children were huddled inside when the walls of the fort were breaded. Outside the main plaza the
battle had entered a different phase that they could no longer keep the Mexicans out. One man
burrowed under the bush while another man hid beneath the bridge spanning the San Antonio River
shooting up to the Mexicans. Travis had prepared for this order small holes pounded through the walls
of some rooms that luckily no people were in. The Mexican offers ordered The Alamo cannon, turned

middle of the dark landscape. Texans were now awake and at their positions. From the cannon nearest
to the Travis, he sent nearly fifty men including one of their captains. The Gen. Cos column had
suffered forty men who were severely killed. The Mexicans cannons were super silent they were
afraid that they would hit their own soldiers. While all of this was happening on the north side of the

Dutch Golden Age Essay
From the late sixteenth century up until the end of eighteenth century, Dutch Republic attracted
numerous migrants from other European countries (Van Lottum, 2007). The province Holland became
a global center for trades, culture and science during this period, which is what we call Dutch Golden
Age now. A reflection of the flourishing economy in Holland is the Dutch East India Company
(VOC), which was sponsored by not only the government but also Dutch citizens. It raised 6.5 million
guilders at that time about three million euros which were worth billions at the time. With the money,
they started the company and overseas expansion. Moreover, in 1609, the first stock exchange was

In the seventeenth century, the German accounted for 43% of all immigrants in Holland cities
(Lucassen, 2002, cited in Van Lottum, 2007). The Thirty Years War between 1618 and 1648 had a
devastating influence on Germany. Many Germans were deprived of homes and even of lives. The
German mark devalued by 25% just between 1619 and 1622, while prices of goods such as wheat and
wine went up by as much as 300%. Combined with falling wages for German workers, this led to a
steep decline in quality of life (Kamen, 1968). That s why many Germans left their home and settled
in new places like the Netherlands. Most German immigrants to the Netherlands were actually
refugees due to Thirty Years War. The priority for them when arriving in the Netherlands was to find a
job to make a living. In Amsterdam, Typical occupations for not Amsterdammers represented in the
marriage registers were unschooled laborers in the construction trades (96%), tailors (92%), bakers

Germans. (Phillips, 2008) German immigrants did the physically demanding and lowly paid job in the
Netherlands and became a huge source of cheap labor, which has a positive effect on the Dutch
financial success at the time. German immigrants also made a great contribution to Dutch maritime
trade. Dutch Republic was a seaborne empire, so

The Ascent Ron Rash Analysis
In the story The Ascent, Ron Rash begins the story with vivid imagery to set the calm, yet slightly
unsettling scene of a young boy playing with his imaginary friend(s). Jared initially can be perceived
as the average curious boy searching for the one thing no one else could find, a missing airplane. His
imagination and situational aspects led to his decisions in the story. Jared was lost not physically, but
mentally; he had no one to comfortably confide in and trust. His life was not an easy one as he dealt
with both peer pressure and seclusion from home and school; he only felt safe behind the barriers of
his mind and the misplaced airplane. Jared s drug addicted parents had a negative effect on Jared s
mental and physical livelihood, resulting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His parents attempted to show some displays of affection towards Jared but his response to these signs
of affection seem to be distant and not caring as he ignored their efforts. His mother would attempt to
speak to him and instead of responding Jared carried on like they did not exist. An example of this
would be his mom making the comment, Don t you like it, honey? , and Jared responding by eating
his food then returning upstairs to close himself into his bedroom (291). Jared most likely developed a
form of spite towards his parents due to their preference of drugs over caring for their child. Walker
states, these people may have started out using drugs in moderation, but gradually, their life becomes
centered on getting and using the substance being abused (20). His parents lived a life led by drugs
and not by doing what is best for their son; the effects on Jared proved to be detrimental. Yet their
attempts to make Jared home life seem normal are admirable even in their condition. They did things
like get him a mountain bike for Christmas and buy his favorite cereal to make things seem normal in
their household. It shows that their love for their son manages to surpass their addiction enough to still
want to do things for him. For example, the narrator described the makeshift Christmas tree that his
low budgeting parents replaced with one to please their beloved son. His mother stated that they were
going to find the best Christmas tree ever ; therefore, Jared and his parents walked up a ridge to find
Fraser fits and white pines as their new Christmas tree (292 293). This exemplifies the effort of his
parents to give Jared a semi normal life despite their faults; Jared parents cared about his satisfaction
enough to attempt to interact with

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), High levels of nitrogen and phosphorus in our lakes, rivers,
streams, and drinking water sources cause the degradation of these water bodies and harm fish,
wildlife, and human health. In the 2000 National Water Quality Inventory, states reported that
agricultural nonpoint source (NPS) pollution was the leading source of water quality impacts on
surveyed rivers and lakes, as well as the second largest source of impairments to wetlands, and a
major contributor to contamination of surveyed estuaries and groundwater. Agricultural activities that
cause NPS pollution include poorly located or managed animal feeding operations; overgrazing;
plowing too often or at the wrong time; and improper, excessive or poorly timed application of
pesticides, irrigation water and fertilizer. Since the 1960s, the high input of agriculture production has
resulted in the surplus of nitrogen and phosphorus in farm fields, which run off into surface waters.
High concentrations of nitrates and phosphates in surface waters could lead to eutrophication and
instability of the aquatic ecosystems. Eutrophication is caused by the over enrichment of water with
phosphates and nitrates, a problem that has become a widespread in rivers, lakes, estuaries, and coastal

Carl Jung s Theory Of Personality And Psychological Types
In the 1920 s, a Swiss psychologist named Carl Jung devised a theory. Jung didn t accept the idea that
the behaviors of people were random. Instead, he was a firm believer that the differences between
individuals were a result of how people use their brains. Jung claimed that what appears to be random
behavior is actually the result of differences in the way people prefer to use their mental capacities.
(The Myers Briggs Foundation). Jung realized that people typically function in one of two ways, take
in information or make decisions, and that people usually are more comfortable alone or around
others. With all these observations, Jung wrote a book titled Psychological Types, which introduced

Introverts are people who spend time thinking and reflecting before they act. Their motivation is
internal, which might end up closing them off from the world around them. Introverts usually prefer
one to one relationships, and only express intimacy with a few family members or close friends.
Introverts also love doing activities that allow them to be put in an organizational position.
Occasionally, introverts will shut down and close off from all of those around them. Personally, I
believe that is a completely accurate description of myself. I also plan out my days ahead of time, and
I love being able to put things together. While I sometimes I think that it is a negative thing, I do tend
to close off from my circle, which happens to be very small. If I do get to meet my goal of being a
teacher, my introversion definitely yields to potential for problems. Getting out of my shell would be a
challenge, without a doubt. That being said, my introversion is mostly geared towards others my age. I
am usually very comfortable around people that are older or younger than I am, which makes me
believe I would probably be okay. Other than having to overcome the challenge of opening up, being
an introvert does have upsides, such as having an urge to get things done. The next part of my INFJ
combination is that I am intuitive. Being intuitive means that I able to feel things that seem true by a
feeling that is similar to instinct. The intuitive brain wants to be able to

Mandatory Influenza Vaccine Essay
As employees and health care works of well known organizations, we have an ethical and moral
obligation to make decisions and choices that reflect the best interest of the health of our patients.
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (2010), mandatory programs should be enforced
for health professionals justifying the need for employees to receive the influenza vaccine. The Joint
Commission believes that an estimated 80% or higher of influenza immunization rates are crucial for
providing the necessary immunity needed to protect and reduce influenza infections or health related

Immunization rates still remain low and hospitals that have voluntary programs in place, are not
seeing the results they would if mandatory vaccine programs were put in to place. A mandatory
influenza vaccine policy is the best solution to this issue and long overdue. Health care associated
influenza occurrences are becoming more common as it contributes to patient mortality and morbidity
(The American Academy of Pediatrics, 2010). Thus, proving even further the need to prevent and
control influenza by putting the health and safety of our patients first. Mandating medical
interventions should never be imposed abruptly, as the rights of health professionals need to be
respected as well. Prominent organizations other then the Infectious Diseases Society of America
(IDSA) have jumped on board and supported the policy of fulfilling a mandatory influenza
immunization policy. Other organizations such as The Joint Commission, the Centers for Disease

this policy (Sullivan, 2009). Many individuals have common fears and

Budgeting, Planning, And Controlling Management
A budget is a detailed plan that states how resources will be acquired and used. The budget records the
events that occurs before they occur. Budgeting and accounting both involve planning, allotting and
distributing financial resources. Budgeting involves more planning and preparing a financial blueprint,
but, these planning depend on the accounting of past and current year expenses and profits. The
accounting system focuses on documenting and interpreting each financial transaction. After the
budget is established, the accounting system is used to monitor and if necessary, correct any variation
from the budget (Bremser 8). Many companies use a budgeting committee comprising of delegate
from most operating areas of the organization; an effective budgeting system facilitates control
(Bremser 18). The purpose of the budget is to: Prepare the future plan of the organization.
Communicate the operational plan into financial term. Properly allocate resources within the
organization. Budgeting is an important key in the management process. It is essential in the planning,
organizing, and controlling. Ultimately the budget function as a control technique not just for cost, but

A Brief Note On The Aviation Safety Agency
With ICAO s leading, aviation safety has been developed internationally. As mentioned before, FAA
and ICAO worked together to provide safer operations in the airports globally. ICAO published their
Safety Management Manual(SMM) for providing acceptable safety performance throughout the
world. Civil aviation authorities get benefit out of these manuals and shared data. SMS requirements
provided by ICAO paved a path for every aviation organization to develop safety policies and safety
procedures. In February 2009 European Aviation Safety Agency(EASA) met with FAA, ICAO and
Transport Canada Civil Aviation(TCCA). The meeting was set to spread SMS throughout Europe and
America. Participants agreed on sharing SMS knowledge and established Safety Management
International Collaboration Group(SM ICG). SM ICG was set to meet semiannually and also with
teleconferences to develop SMS with projects and research groups. Each organization works
voluntarily for collaboration and affiliation to spread SMS knowledge all over the world. During
establishment of SM ICG, it is agreed that there would be interference with stakeholders in the
aviation industry. It is also agreed that CAST and ECAST which is European Commercial Aviation

What went well with our simulation was that it was engaging. Due to the timed component of each

focus and attention to the activity. In addition, since there are two communes competing against each

Essay on The Stranger and the Alchemist
THE STRANGER and THE ALCHEMIST
Belief and Response Essay As one would make it through The Alchemist or The Stranger they would
start to notice a clear separation of what each of these books portray. On one side you have The
Alchemist which represents more of a positive outlook on life and following your dreams. On the
other you have The Stranger which depicts more of a negative connotation on life. Although these two
accounts seem far from each other, they present themes throughout the text that show up in both
novels. A theme commonly noticed in both books is love and its effects on each books main character.
Another is the meaning of life , which explains why we are here on this earth. The last is the idea of
destiny/fate , which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The meaning of life also shows up a lot in both of these books. In The Alchemist the meaning of life is
stated as finding your personal legend and following your dreams. ...whoever you are, or whatever it is
that you do, when you really want something, it s because that desire originated in the soul of the
universe. It s your mission on earth. (pg. 22) Melchizedek states this saying, follow what the universe
is telling you to do. That is what you were put on the earth to do. We see The Stranger s view in the
very last lines of the novel... As if that blind rage had washed me clean, rid me of hope; for the first
time, in that night alive with signs and stars, I opened myself to the gentle indifference of the world.
Finding it so much like myself so like a brother, really I felt that I had been happy and that I was
happy again. For everything to be consummated, for me to feel less alone, I had only to wish that there
be a large crowd of spectators the day of my execution and that they greet me with cries of hate. (pg.
122 123) Meursault finally accepts that death is inevitable and he can t avoid it. He also comes to a
conclusion that life in general lacks meaning and order no matter who you are. At a ripe age of 18 and
still much to learn, I seem to think life isn t based on finding your personal legend. Life is life, and I
play it by year and go with the flow. I wasn t put on this earth for

The Red Tent By Anita Diamant
The Red Tent An Unforgettable Testimony to Women s Strength and Power
The Red Tent by Anita Diamant illuminates one of the greatest testimonies to women s strength:
childbirth. On a creative level, Diamant did something extraordinary. She took a small passage from
the Bible about the character Dinah, and made her story into an unforgettable testimony to women s
strength and power. Overlooking women s role in Biblical life is easy because there is practically
nothing written by or about women. Even though Diamant s story is fictionalized, there is truth in
showing that women did exist, that there was a very important role played by women of that time
period, and in showing the power and strength of women in a way that can never be ... Show more

In the midst of labor, she anguishes over a secret of womanhood revealed only in childbirth; a secret
that inspired my piece of visual art, Dinah:
Why had no one told me that my body would become a battlefield, a sacrifice, a test? Why did I not
know that birth is the pinnacle where women discover the courage to become mothers? But of course,
there is no way to tell this or to hear it. Until you are the woman on the bricks, you have no idea how
death stands in the corner, ready to play his part. Until you are the woman on the bricks, you do not
know the power that arises from other women even strangers speaking an unknown tongue, invoking
the names of unfamiliar goddesses. (Diamant 224)
A pregnant woman is thrown into this other realm, where her strength is tested. No woman can
prepare for the battle her body goes through, or for the strength and power that arises innately from an
unknown place within, which cannot be known to exist until the experience of childbirth.
In an atmosphere of fire and torment, Dinah features a woman prevailing despite the symbolic
environment of the image. She is looking up, a sign of hope and faith, with body language
exemplifying strength and power. Not only overcoming the physical pain of birth, this woman, who
could be Dinah or any other mother, is enduring the psychological pain that society oppresses upon
women. The goal of Dinah is to represent mothers in Dinah s world and in Sethe s world; and even the

Thus, Gross Working Capital = Total Current Assets. * Net Working Capital: It refers to the difference
between current assets and current liabilities. Current liabilities refer to those claims which are

current liabilities exceed current assets. Net Working Capital = Gross Working Capital or Current

interesting concepts of working capital: * Zero Working Capital: Zero Working Capital = Inventories

major constituents of current assets which affect sales. Further, suppliers finance inventories through
accounts payable. * Permanent Working Capital: It refers to a certain minimum level of current assets
which is essential for the firm to carry on its business irrespective of the level of operations. This is

Small Round Lenses Research Paper
There is a trick that makes high prescription lenses for nearsighted vision thinner. You can use it to
minimize the lens thickness of even low index lens materials such as standard CR 39 plastic. The trick
is buying small round lenses. The lens curvature of a minus prescription (for nearsightedness) is
concave. That is, the lens is thin at the center and gradually thickens until you reach the edge where it
s thickest. If you made the lens thin at the edge, it would be too thin at the center, which would make
the lens too fragile. Therefore, these lenses have an absolute minimum thickness at the center to
ensure its strength. This means that large lenses with a high minus prescription can have very thick
edges. The lower the lens material ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
High index lenses are compatible with a huge number of frame styles, which allows you to wear
glasses you feel good about. A large selection is necessary to find a frame style that works best with
the shape of your face. Not all styles are compatible with all types of faces. This is also true of frames
made for small round lenses. Small round lenses may work for people with angular features because
they soften their appearance. They also work for oval faces because any lens shape works for this type
of face. However, these lenses can make people with round faces look cartoonish, and can look out of
place on people with square faces. If you re physically active, your choice of sport frame styles is
greatly diminished. They Provide Less UV, Glare, and Wind Protection If you spend lots of time
outdoors, your eyes should be protected from ultraviolet. Avoiding UV associated eye problems
require consistent use of glasses or sunglasses that block the sun s UV radiation. Lenses that block UV
are less effective if they don t completely cover the eyes. UV light can enter the eyes by going around
the lenses. In other words, the smaller the lens, the bigger the gap through which UV reaches the eyes.
That s why sun glasses tend to be either large or tend to wrap around the

Should Americans Learn a Second Language? Lots of people have many different opinions on if

Karl Marx Karl Marx is often called the father of communism, but his life entailed so much more. He

Pierre Joseph Proudhon s The Philosophy of Poverty and a critique of French socialist thought. These
works laid the foundation for Marx and Engels most famous work, The Communist Manifesto. Later
that year, Europe experienced tremendous revolutionary upheaval. Marx was arrested and expelled

France, and invited Marx to return to Paris, where he witnessed the revolutions in France firsthand. He

The Basic Principles Of Biological Criminology
The basic principle of biological criminology comes from the belief people are born criminal through
genetic inheritance or physiological predisposition to crime as written by Mclaughlin and Muncie
(2013, p. 26). Early theorists such as Cesare Lombroso identified criminals by their distinctive
physical features such as by their Large cheekbones, thick eyebrows and flat nose . Lombroso (1897)
claimed in his later work only a third of criminals were actually born criminal which means we should
be able to spot a criminal by looking at them because of their features. Lombroso classified criminals
into 4 major categories including born criminal . Studies have been carried out to isolate the genetic
factor and theory assuming people are born criminals due to genetic inheritance. The types of research
that were carried out to test whether we inherit criminal genes which cause us to offend are twins
studies (identical and fraternal), adoptees and family studies. Several attempts were made to test
biological and genetic theories. A study of 3000 prisoners in London in 1910 s found a strong link
between criminality of spouses and between children, siblings and their parents. It was then greatly
argued that criminality was passed down through an individual s inherited genes. Further study from
the Cambridge study in Delinquent Development established in 1960 s suggested crime did run in
families. Studies showed the link between one convicted family member leading to another

Victor Hugo Essay
Description
Victor Hugo describes a strong need for social reform, especially in the prison system, in France
during the post Renaissance period (1815 mid 1800 s). Hugo, in symbolizing this theme, refers to a
broad spectrum of historical events in France such as the Battle of Waterloo where Napoleon was
defeated.
In the beginning Jean Valjean, the protagonist of the novel, is a criminal on parole. The day he is
released from prison he is wandering looking for a place to stay. No one will take him in except for a
Bishop, M. Myriel. M. Myriel is more than willing to help Valjean . Valjean is shocked by the bishop s
benevolence and trust, but remembers his hatred towards society for imprisoning him for 19 years.

One example was the condemnation of Fantine. She was forced by the evilness of society to have
someone else take care of her kid (rather poorly) by paying large sums of money. In order to pay these

commited relationship, she was outcast from her job at Valjean s factory. She was then forced to do

Shadow In Chad, Africa
In the beginning, prior to the establishment of time and space there was a man named Shadow.
Shadow was the servant of a king by the name of Alexander. King Alexander was a very cruel king,
who found joy in abusing his power. One day, Shadow was ordered to go on a prolonged journey to
the edge of what is now Chad, Africa to deliver a letter to a man who called himself Salvatore
Orlando. King Alexander specifically demanded Shadow to not open the letter. Shadow, like the
obedient servant he was, packed his belongings and headed on to the lengthy voyage ahead of him.
After a few miles of walking, Shadow came across a young woman who was clothed in rags with two

variables must have an interval scale of measurement. Relationships of 1.00 and +1.00 have strong
respective positive or negative correlations. A relationship of zero identifies a weak relationship
between the two variables being analyzed. Primary and Secondary Data Sources The retention of Wal
Mart employees has been a problem. A quantitative correlational study to access job pay satisfaction,
turnover intentions, and leadership styles will be discussed. The primary data consisted of
questionnaire surveys. If required, informal interviews can be included. The primary data research was
to determine whether satisfaction with supervisor or overall job pay satisfaction is more significantly
related to turnover intentions. The primary data was coded for a quick analysis and was verifiable by
re questioning. Secondary data was extracted from published statistics such as census, housing and
social security data. Other secondary data was retrieved from similar industry models, internal

Edward Teddy Daniels, a U.S. Marshal in 1954 is heading to Shutter Island a remote island accessible
only by boat, home to Ashecliffe, a secure psychiatric facility with his newly assigned partner Chuck,
to search for a missing patient. As Teddy looks more into the disappearance of the patient, strange
things begin to happen all around him. After his partner s disappearance, he then comes across a
former doctor living in a cave on the side of the island, who tells Teddy that the doctors are
performing experimental surgery in the island s lighthouse. This causes Teddy to take precarious
measures to investigate the lighthouse. Upon reaching the lighthouse, Teddy is met by the lead
psychiatrist and his missing partner, and is told that this was an elaborate role play, and that he
suffered from mental illness following the death of his children and him murdering his own wife.
Teddy comes back to reality as Andrew Laeddis and decides he cannot live with his reality. Andrew
Laeddis (Edward Teddy Daniels) was a middle aged, Caucasian man, who had a wife and three
children before they were murdered. Laeddis was formerly part of the liberation of the Dachau
concentration camp as a soldier in the United States military, then became a U.S. Marshal after the
war had ended. Edward Daniels is an anagram for Andrew Laeddis, which is Teddy s real identity,
which he learns when he has a moment of clarity. He had been admitted to the secure psychiatric

Walmart needs to continually develop effective strategies to withstand the threats of substitutes and
new entrants. And, strategies that address the bargaining power of buyers and suppliers. 3.5.1
Competitive Rivalry The following external factors are the most significant for Walmart to consider
regarding competition: There is a large number of organization in the retail market with a large variety
of retail products and services they provide with high aggressiveness they saw the efficiency of what
Walmart is doing and they copied their supply chain strategy. Thus, Walmart experiences the strong
force of these external factors in competitive rivalry in the retail industry environment. 3.5.2
Bargaining Power of Buyers Walmart faces a low bargaining power of buyer because the large
population of buyers are individuals that buys small purchases that makes it difficult for them (buyers)

Descriptive Basketball Game
When you re stressed out where do you go? We all have a place where we can go and relieve our
stress. Whether it s a physical place or a state of mind we all have a place where we feel untouchable.
Where the never ending piles of class work and the constant nagging of friends seem to dissolve like
kool aid in water until left with nothing but a smooth mixture of me, myself, and I. For me this place
is the court: the basketball court. When I open the doors of the gym I am met with the familiar sound
of squeaking shoes and balls bouncing on the hardwood floors. I go to sit on the aged wooden
bleachers and watch the game that is currently taking place. The weight my worries are being lifted a
little as I get wrapped up in the game. The guard is bringing the ball up the court his eyes scanning for
an opening to either pass or shoot the ball. The opposing team has every man covered leaving little to
no room for the guard and his teammates to set up the play. As soon as the guard sets foot pass half
court two defenders go to trap him. Wrong move. The guard quickly, almost effortlessly sidesteps one
of the defenders and dribbles the ball through the leg of the other and proceeds to pass the ball to one
of his teammates who take the ball straight to the rim. I can t help but smile at this perfectly executed
play as the game continues. There are several more plays like this made on both sides but, they all
seem to dull in comparison with the first one.
While their game is coming to an end, my problems slowly begin to creep their way back into my
mind as I begin to stretch. Loosing up my body for the intense workout that is coming. As they get off
the court I decide to begin my workout with some basic ball handling drills. Through the left leg,
behind the back, around the right, switch, through the right leg, behind the back, around the left leg,
repeat. The ball flowing smoothly through my legs like water as I continue to increase the pace until I
ve done this ten times on each leg. As I continue my problems are beginning to matter less and less.
Next, I start my shooting drills and I am soon welcomed by the feeling of the ball leaving my hand.
And like when an archer releases his arrow from his bow and is

It is easy to embrace someone who is lovable, but it is much more difficult to accept a more
challenging child. I would start by demonstrating grace and patience with them, which would include
forgiving their mistakes and starting with a clean slate every day. In addition, I plan to provide
positive solutions which would benefit both the class and the student. I would never give up on them.
Next, I would lead by example by being receptive to each child s personal space and needs. This
would include looking for facial cues and evaluating their actions to determine what a child would
benefit from. Responsibility can be demonstrated by being accountable for both my successes and
mistakes. For example, if I realized that I gave incorrect information, I would be honest about it to my
students. Lastly, service can be displayed by going above and beyond the call of duty on a regular
basis. This could mean staying before or after school to mentor a student, or making a point to give
constructive positive feedback to every student.
I am grateful for the YMCA program I attended at age nine that started me on this journey towards my
goal of becoming an art teacher. Programs such as the ones that the YMCA offers can have a profound

  • 2. Difference Between Nominal And Nominal Scale Nominal Scale Nominal scale is also known as labels. It is most commonly used for labelling variables without any quantitative values assigned to it. In this classification of data is done without any measurement. Example: We can understand the nominal scale in more detail with below example: A normal question asked to a boy that what is the colour of his hairs and below options are given to him. a.) Black b.) Brown c.) Gray d.) Blonde e.) Other If you notice in above example all the mentioned options are mutually exclusive which means no overlap and even none of them carry any numerical significance. The best way to remember is that nominal seems more like a name and the nominal scale seems like labels. Let s take one more example: What is your gender? a.) Male b.) Female In this case, the nominal scale has only 2 categories i.e., male and female and this kind of nominal scale are known as dichotomous. Sometimes in statistical analysis, non numeric variables are given numeric values. For example, students who eat healthy breakfast are +1, the students who eat an unhealthy breakfast are 0 and the students who do not eat breakfast are 1. This is the way to get who is in which group but don t really have value. Ordinal Scale An Ordinal scale is a measurement which looks at the variables where order matters but the difference does not matter. While thinking of the ordinal you must think about the word order. Hence, it is easy to remember as in this scale only order ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Classical Vs. Keynesian Models Essay Classical vs Keynesian models Two economic models of thought are classical and Keynesian models. Each model takes a diverse approach to the economic education of financial policy, buyer behavior, and government spending. The classical model, which traces its origins to the 1770s, was the first systematic attempt to explain the determinants of the price level and the national levels of real GDP, employment, consumption, savings, and investments. Classical economist Adam Smith and others assumed that all wages and prices were flexible and that competitive markets existed throughout the economy. Classical economic theory is fixed in the theory of an (no government) unrestrictive economic market. This model especially its focus toward macroeconomics relies on four major assumptions: pure competition exists, wages and prices are flexible, people are motivated by self interest, and people cannot be fooled by money illusion. Flexible Prices are the prices of everything; supplies, employment (incomes), property (rent), etc. must be mutually ascending and descending. However, in truth, it has been perceived that these prices are not as freely elastic downwards as they are upwards, due to a multiplicity of market limitations, resembling unions, and laws. Flexible prices confirm that markets regulate to equilibrium and decrease deficiencies and overages. With that said, many scholars have pushed for Pauline because in earlier manuscripts Hebrews followed Romans which they thought warranted Pauline authorship. Some of the early church fathers believe that there is Pauline influence, however, not Pauline authorship simply for the reason that Hebrews seems to be written by a well educated Greek with elaborate and complex language. There are other suggestions made by scholars, most of which they are unable to support. Effects Of CAI On Students With Disabilities STUDENT AT RISK AND WITH DISABILITIES Recently, CAI has become an acceptable instructional strategy to provide several academic outcomes for at risk students and those with disabilities. Even though there has been research on the effects and implications of CAI on students without disabilities, there is limited research evidence about the effects of CAI on students with disabilities. Ross et al., (1991) assessed the effects of CAI on students attitudes toward school, grades, computer skills, standardized test scores, and teacher evaluations using the Apple Classroom of Tomorrow (ACOT) program. Subjects were at risk seventh grade students. Results showed that the CAI group was successful in math and reading compared to the control group. However, they reported that some academic achievements were lost and students remained at risk because of lack of on going computer use and limited access to computer lab after the two year experiment. Considering the importance of time and on task behaviors in CAI, Salerno (1995) examined the mathematics achievements of at risk fifth graders. In this study, students were randomly assigned to three groups: extended computer time; extended time on task, and control group. Jared initially can be perceived as the average curious boy searching for the one thing no one else could find, a missing airplane. His imagination and situational aspects led to his decisions in the story. Jared was lost not physically, but mentally; he had no one to comfortably confide in and trust. His parents attempted to show some displays of affection towards Jared but his response to these signs of affection seem to be distant and not caring as he ignored their efforts. An example of this would be his mom making the comment, Don t you like it, honey? , and Jared responding by eating his food then returning upstairs to close himself into his bedroom (291). Jared most likely developed a form of spite towards his parents due to their preference of drugs over caring for their child. Walker states, these people may have started out using drugs in moderation, but gradually, their life becomes centered on getting and using the substance being abused (20). His parents lived a life led by drugs and not by doing what is best for their son; the effects on Jared proved to be detrimental. Yet their attempts to make Jared home life seem normal are admirable even in their condition. They did things like get him a mountain bike for Christmas and buy his favorite cereal to make things seem normal in their household. It shows that their love for their son manages to surpass their addiction enough to still want to do things for him. For example, the narrator described the makeshift Christmas tree that his low budgeting parents replaced with one to please their beloved son. His mother stated that they were going to find the best Christmas tree ever ; therefore, Jared and his parents walked up a ridge to find Fraser fits and white pines as their new Christmas tree (292 293). This exemplifies the effort of his parents to give Jared a semi normal life despite their faults; Jared parents cared about his satisfaction enough to attempt to interact with ... Essay on The Stranger and the Alchemist THE STRANGER and THE ALCHEMIST Belief and Response Essay As one would make it through The Alchemist or The Stranger they would start to notice a clear separation of what each of these books portray. On one side you have The Alchemist which represents more of a positive outlook on life and following your dreams. On the other you have The Stranger which depicts more of a negative connotation on life. Although these two accounts seem far from each other, they present themes throughout the text that show up in both novels. A theme commonly noticed in both books is love and its effects on each books main character. Another is the meaning of life , which explains why we are here on this earth. The last is the idea of destiny/fate , which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The meaning of life also shows up a lot in both of these books. In The Alchemist the meaning of life is stated as finding your personal legend and following your dreams. ...whoever you are, or whatever it is that you do, when you really want something, it s because that desire originated in the soul of the universe. It s your mission on earth. (pg. 22) Melchizedek states this saying, follow what the universe is telling you to do. That is what you were put on the earth to do. We see The Stranger s view in the very last lines of the novel... As if that blind rage had washed me clean, rid me of hope; for the first time, in that night alive with signs and stars, I opened myself to the gentle indifference of the world. Finding it so much like myself so like a brother, really I felt that I had been happy and that I was happy again. For everything to be consummated, for me to feel less alone, I had only to wish that there be a large crowd of spectators the day of my execution and that they greet me with cries of hate. (pg. 122 123) Meursault finally accepts that death is inevitable and he can t avoid it. He also comes to a conclusion that life in general lacks meaning and order no matter who you are. At a ripe age of 18 and still much to learn, I seem to think life isn t based on finding your personal legend. Life is life, and I play it by year and go with the flow. On a creative level, Diamant did something extraordinary. She took a small passage from the Bible about the character Dinah, and made her story into an unforgettable testimony to women s strength and power. Overlooking women s role in Biblical life is easy because there is practically nothing written by or about women. You can use it to minimize the lens thickness of even low index lens materials such as standard CR 39 plastic. The trick is buying small round lenses. The lens curvature of a minus prescription (for nearsightedness) is concave. That is, the lens is thin at the center and gradually thickens until you reach the edge where it s thickest. If you made the lens thin at the edge, it would be too thin at the center, which would make the lens too fragile. After his partner s disappearance, he then comes across a former doctor living in a cave on the side of the island, who tells Teddy that the doctors are performing experimental surgery in the island s lighthouse. This causes Teddy to take precarious measures to investigate the lighthouse. Upon reaching the lighthouse, Teddy is met by the lead psychiatrist and his missing partner, and is told that this was an elaborate role play, and that he suffered from mental illness following the death of his children and him murdering his own wife. Teddy comes back to reality as Andrew Laeddis and decides he cannot live with his reality. Andrew Laeddis (Edward Teddy Daniels) was a middle aged, Caucasian man, who had a wife and three children before they were murdered. Laeddis was formerly part of the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp as a soldier in the United States military, then became a U.S. Marshal after the war had ended. • 48. Descriptive Basketball Game When you re stressed out where do you go? We all have a place where we can go and relieve our stress. Whether it s a physical place or a state of mind we all have a place where we feel untouchable. Where the never ending piles of class work and the constant nagging of friends seem to dissolve like kool aid in water until left with nothing but a smooth mixture of me, myself, and I. For me this place is the court: the basketball court. When I open the doors of the gym I am met with the familiar sound of squeaking shoes and balls bouncing on the hardwood floors. I go to sit on the aged wooden bleachers and watch the game that is currently taking place. The weight my worries are being lifted a little as I get wrapped up in the game. The guard is bringing the ball up the court his eyes scanning for an opening to either pass or shoot the ball. The opposing team has every man covered leaving little to no room for the guard and his teammates to set up the play. As soon as the guard sets foot pass half court two defenders go to trap him. Wrong move. The guard quickly, almost effortlessly sidesteps one of the defenders and dribbles the ball through the leg of the other and proceeds to pass the ball to one of his teammates who take the ball straight to the rim. I can t help but smile at this perfectly executed play as the game continues. There are several more plays like this made on both sides but, they all seem to dull in comparison with the first one. While their game is coming to an end, my problems slowly begin to creep their way back into my mind as I begin to stretch. Loosing up my body for the intense workout that is coming. As they get off the court I decide to begin my workout with some basic ball handling drills. Through the left leg, behind the back, around the right, switch, through the right leg, behind the back, around the left leg, repeat. The ball flowing smoothly through my legs like water as I continue to increase the pace until I ve done this ten times on each leg. As I continue my problems are beginning to matter less and less. Next, I start my shooting drills and I am soon welcomed by the feeling of the ball leaving my hand. And like when an archer releases his arrow from his bow and is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is easy to embrace someone who is lovable, but it is much more difficult to accept a more challenging child. I would start by demonstrating grace and patience with them, which would include forgiving their mistakes and starting with a clean slate every day. In addition, I plan to provide positive solutions which would benefit both the class and the student. I would never give up on them. Next, I would lead by example by being receptive to each child s personal space and needs. This would include looking for facial cues and evaluating their actions to determine what a child would benefit from. Responsibility can be demonstrated by being accountable for both my successes and mistakes. For example, if I realized that I gave incorrect information, I would be honest about it to my students. Lastly, service can be displayed by going above and beyond the call of duty on a regular basis. This could mean staying before or after school to mentor a student, or making a point to give constructive positive feedback to every student. I am grateful for the YMCA program I attended at age nine that started me on this journey towards my goal of becoming an art teacher. Programs such as the ones that the YMCA offers can have a profound influence on those that attend. I am proof ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
