Commerce Is Creating Wealth For Society
The among the many functions of commerce is creating wealth for society. However, it is questionable
if the firm in Margin Call follows through with its role acting in the interests of society in its bleak
predicament. Once it is revealed that there is a high probability of the firm being devalued beyond
market capitalization, the employees of an unnamed company attempt to formulate a solution to the
imminent crisis. Although there is some dissent from Sam Rogers, Head of Sales and Trading, CEO
Tuld promptly decides to liquidate the firm s toxic assets onto the market. Despite the unanimous
direction the firm moves in, there are various sources of internal tensions between the firm s
employees in that they individually represent differing perspectives within the social context of the
firm. Through the various rationales the executives possess as well as the relationships between the
employees and the firm itself, Margin Call illustrates the conviction that although the role of
commerce is to engender a certain lifestyle for the public, the executives in the firm have warped this
belief into a justification for the extreme measures they lead the firm to take in the name of their profit
and their survival. In the first scene of Margin Call, the social hierarchy of the firm is staunchly
established as Will himself is nonchalant about the layoff because he holds a relatively senior position
in the firm and it s evident that he has survived through other layoffs. In

The price has been rising, not simply due to the price of coffee itself, but because of the supply chain
and the current economic situation around the world. Last year Starbucks had to raise prices globally,
but especially in the United States and China, due to rising prices for coffee and other ingredients, but
this year they are taking the hit from the rising coffee prices for the consumers (Baertlein, 2011).
Although the prices of coffee had to be raised globally due to the high demand of the product and the
cost of producing it, there is still a strong outlook for the coffee industry because of the large
consumer base of the industry. The coffee industry is expected to continue growing through at least
the year 2015 and even longer in other emerging markets around the world (Lingle, 2007). Even if the
market in the United States begins to decline, there are other emerging markets for the specialty coffee
industry. Due to Brazil s rising economy, it is set to be the biggest coffee drinking country in the world
with recent coffee consumer growth of 39% from 2000 to 2009 (Murphy, 2011). With Brazil s upper
and middle classes expanding, it has more money to spend on specialty coffee and other superfluous
items. Brazil could be

The X92 Press [Case Study 15.1]
Introduction The key issues of this case are the salesperson is lack of understanding customer, lack of
preparation before interview, and lack of understanding the product itself. And solutions are required
to solve is problem the salesperson in order to salvage the sale. 1. What mistaken did Susan make? 2.
How should she have handled this sale? According to the case, one of the mistaken that Susan did is
lack of understanding her customer. She did not know the customer s problem and needs deeply, but
she only knows how to provide specification the product as well as list out the better result of the new
product comparing to the old ones. Even though she satisfied purchasing manager (Arthur Speddon),
however, she did not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case, production is refused to use PPM Ltd. s product again as he experience the problem of
control before. Besides, most of the buyer would make decision based on their need on their position
(Ingram, LaForge, Avilla, Schwepker, and Willams (2006), pg. 64). For example, purchasing manager
make decisions based on the needs of the company, also the value, benefits, features or technology and
price of the product (Ingram et al. 2006, pg. 85). On the other hand, production manager make
decisions by how to handling or control the product (Ingram et al. 2006, pg. 85). The decision of
production manager is essential because he understands the product of PPM Ltd more than purchasing
manager as he experienced the problems of the product but not purchasing manager (Ingram et al.
2006, pg. 85). Thus, similar to the case of Learning the ropes (Rix, Buss Herford 1999, pp. 302 304),
purchasing officer should make decision by accept the recommendation of the production manager
due to the production manager is the key person would affect final decision of sale as well as called
buying point. 4. What should Susan do now to try to salvage the sale? According to the case, it is
obvious that the production manager is lack of trust to PPM Ltd. s product due to his previous bad
experience of PPM Ltd. s product. In order to salvage the sale, Susan should have second interview
with production manager. Before that,

Why Is Chivalry To Build A Better World
In a time where vulgar diseases and vile wars were rampant, people needed something to live by, they
needed a purpose, chivalry. Today, we have looming towers, hospitals, structure, and government.
There are no viral diseases like those of the dark ages but, the ideas of chivalry could still help the
world today. Although chivalry has codes for warfare, it encourages the prevention of crime and
warfare. If people abide by this and don t commit crime then the rising crime rates will decrease and
people will have better lives. Since 2015 there was a 4.1% increase in the crime rate. This number
could be decreasing rather than increasing if people followed the codes of chivalry. Abiding by
chivalry could decrease tension between countries because it encouraged honor and no desire for war.
A great example of how this could help is by looking at Germany in the early 1900 s, later the
Germans lost WWI and were in massive debt then they started WWII and lost, which put them even
more in debt. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chivalry has codes for helping others. For example, last year, hurricane Harvey devastated parts of
Houston. In response, a professional player named J.J. Watt did a chivalrous act. He began with a
100,000 dollar goal, and with the kindness and generosity of others, he raised an astounding 37
million dollars. Chivalry also gives a guideline between right and wrong. Everyday, people are put in
situations between right and wrong and the easiest response is usually the wrong one. This is where
chivalry would help those that struggle with doing the right

Visiting The Milwaukee Art Museum From Jane Bradley Pettit
While visiting the Milwaukee Art Museum the art piece that stood out to me the most was Union II by
Yaacov Agam in 1977, a gift to the museum from Jane Bradley Pettit. This art piece was created with
Oil on a piece of wood with a repeated upside down V texture. It stood out to me the most because of
how it surprised me when I looked at it in a different perspective and the painting changed, being 3
paintings in one. The art piece is viewable in the appendix section at the end of the Analysis. Looking
at each of the art angles we see that only the front view shows implied lines with the separation of
colors between the texture s slopes. This texture is created by an upside down V hump throughout the
artwork, which can be seen in the Enhanced View in the appendix. Moving from Left Side to Right
Side the other artworks are shown at only certain angles, we see here lines become complete rather
than implied, becoming more abstract; this also shows that the element of motion is from the viewer is
needed to see this artwork completely. From the front view the artwork shows implied shape, the left
side, shows shape with objects with curved edges and lines, and the right side shows objects with
straight/sharp edges. We can also say that, overall, this piece of artwork has form due to the necessity
for the artist to create these 3rd Dimensional V humps to show the other artworks at their angles. This
work of art also employed value as shown in all 3 angles, we can see that at

For the Lord laid down His life to give new life to the...human race and unify it so that they all may be

unity spoken of is a sharing in the divine nature via the Eucharist. It is this unity that the baptized are

Explain Why Cell Biology Embodies All The Principles Of Life
1. Cell biology embodies all the principles of life
2. Cells are small because they are limited by the surface area to volume ratio. The volume of the cell
allows for the total number of chemical activity it carries out during an amount of time. The surface
area of a cell determines the number of substances that go into the cell from the outside of the cell. It
is also determined by the number of waste products that are able to go to the environment. The cell
must be a certain volume in order to allow for a big enough surface area to volume ratio which lets
substances in and out of the cell as well as allowing chemical reactions to occur.
3. The plasma membrane is important to cells because it is a selectively permeable barrier which does

Arctic Tundra Research Paper
The Arctic Tundra
The Arctic formally encompasses all of the Earth s land and ocean areas north of the Arctic Circle, but
the Arctic region describes a larger area with linked ecosystems and similar ecological challenges
(Gale Encyclopedia). The arctic tundra has one of the coldest and longest winters and a very short
summer, but event then there is only a brief period of time where the sun shines and the temperatures
are mild. The arctic tundra is home to few different species and organisms because the temperatures
cause issues for organisms that need to maintain a certain body temperature. A few of the organisms in
the Arctic tundra are penguins, Polar bears, fox, and different species of birds, as well as caribou,
wolves, and grizzly bears. The Arctic Tundra forces many species to fight for survival and adapt to the
environment but these adaptations cause changes to the environment and the other species living in it.

The legs, effectively used as oars, are set wide apart and connect rather far back to the long and
rounded body. Short, glossy feathers cover its body to form a dense, fur like covering, which is
waterproof and helps keep the bird warm (Gale Encyclopedia). Penguins eat many types of fish, krill,
and plankton, which helps to keep the water less polluted by algae and prevent deadly red tides.
Penguins adapted to the need for food and the lack of it in the Arctic. By having hunting and mating
seasons, where the females lay eggs and give them to the men to watch over and protect before it
hatches, while the women go and hunt in search of food for the men and the baby, penguins have
created a system to survive the cold and harsh winter weather. Penguins have evolved into creatures
that are protected from the cold by their own fur and can move around by sliding on their bellies since
they cannot fly. Without being able to fly penguins are vulnerable to attack from

The Man And Legend Essay
Can We Attain an Equal America? ;
Can we really achieve equality? I do believe it is possible but it is obvious that there is no single
answer to such a question. Everyone has their own opinion in regards to this question, however those
opinions are useless unless they are actually carried out. According to W.E.B. DuBois racial equality
can be achieved through the talented tenth, ; an African American elite that would be leaders and role
models for the rest of the black community. In The Future of the Race, Henry Louis Gates, Jr., and
Cornel West address the topic of Dubois 1903 essay The Talented Tenth. ; When it comes to achieving
equality among all races I don t particularly agree with DuBois idea of a Talented Tenth. ; I ... Show

Malcolm X declares that if it is right for America to draft us and teach us how to be violent in defense
of the country, then isn t right for you and me to do whatever is necessary to defend our own people
right here in this country. ;(89) Consequently, he believed that only through revolution and force could
blacks attain their rightful place in society. In one of his speeches Malcolm X encouraged blacks to
hate whites and to revolt against them. He claims that revolution is bloody, revolution is hostile,
revolution knows no compromise, revolution overturns and destroys everything that gets in it way. ;
However, when he later broke free from the black Muslim movement began emphasizing unity and
change through black pride and respect for oneself rather than through hate and revenge. He told
blacks that if they had any chance of blacks attaining equality, then their first priority would be to gain
self respect and join together in a group effort to combat racist views. (253)
I believe that there is one main problem that hinders the idea of having a group effort to achieve
equality. That is that our minds seem to support and defend our own reasoning and actions, whether
they are right or wrong. We have to learn how to admit being wrong. I simply can t believe that people
find racism as a way of life. However, it all comes down to what you learn when you re a child.
Generations of the future must be taught

Analysis Of The World We Have Lost
History is a collection of stories, and stories can often differ from the facts. This is because the past
can often be distorted and only show certain aspects deemed important. Historian Peter Laslett is
frustrated by this and describes in his paper The World We Have Lost how the pre industrial society
has been forgotten. Society has mostly been patriarchal in human history. Each household contained
roughly 10 20 people, ran by a male master, housing his wife, children, apprentices, and servants. The
group was considered a family and usually worked together producing a singular product as well as
maintaining the household. Land owning men ran the world and hired those who were less fortunate.
Today however, families now consist of related individuals that live separate lives with separate
beliefs. Should patriarchy stay in the past or should it be adopted into modern life? I believe that
Laslett s lost world was abandoned for a reason and should stay lost due to the modern ideas of
choice, change, and culture. Choice is the best part of today s society. The life I am living today would
not be possible in patriarchal society. I am living on my own, attending university a thousand miles
away from home in a completely different field of my father. If I was living in the lost world , I would
be raised to inherit my father s trade like woodworking, farming, etc. I would not have choice and my
life would basically be decided before I was born. The power of choice is

Essay on compare and contrast visions and values
In this essay I will aim to compare and contrast two case studies in terms of the visions and values of
health they demonstrate. To do this I will look at the examples of the case studies we have looked at,
these were of Brain and Samuel both have type 2 diabetes with similar age and their own set of life
stresses. This will draw on the contrasts between the biomedical model and the social model within
healthcare. The biomedical model is focused on the body, not the person. The Social model is focused
on the person as a whole and letting the individual self manage their condition.
When we look at both case studies provided, we start to see that both promote two different types ...

which he can t do on his own. So, he could also feel an increase in severity of his condition as he s

Samuel is offered support to help him self manage his condition and his doctor offering him leaflets
and information about groups and offered him to go see the nurse about self care routines and healthy
eating. He leaves the surgery feeling relived, supported and free of concern after talking to his GP.
Brian leaves feeling worried, he feels he should have mentioned his move to the doctor but he feels as
though his GP is authoritative and his feelings are irrelevant. He knows he has no support from the
nurses until two weeks time when he moves in and feels pressure for his blood sugar levels to improve
otherwise he will have to get insilin injections. As we can see the approaches from the doctors leaves
the patient feeling differently when leaving the surgery.
Brain s case study demonstrates he was being treated using the Biomedical model. This is considered
to be the dominant and the modern way for health care professionals to diagnose and treat a condition
in most Western cultures but It does not account for psychological factors that could have a role in the

The frequently used speaking tasks by teachers are: interview, picture description and oral
presentation. All three tasks have certain similarities that according to Lee (2004) they are close to
everyday life situations; enable the students to use as much L2 as possible. On the other hand, Sook
(2003) research in Korean schools shows that teachers opt for such speaking assessment tasks that
gave less psychological burden to students, were less time consuming and did not demand the teacher
to take the role of interviewer etc. Teachers function as a rater only, scoring students responses,
therefore they mostly used activities such as answering questions and describing a realia to assess the
students speaking ability. Recently Xiaole, Meng and Manli (2012) utilized questionnaire to conduct a

teachers randomly selected from 39 universities China through PPS (probability proportional to size)

the teachers were confined to traditional methods of assessment. In addition to the above study Yang

Steve Jobs Leadership Style and Analysis
Whether you loved Steve Jobs or hated him, whether you are a Mac or a PC user, whether you are an
iPhone or an Android owner, there is one thing that there s little doubt about: Steve Jobs was an
amazing leader who expected and got the most out of those who worked for him.
With his recent passing and the release of his biography, other leaders have gotten a chance to take a
closer look at how Steve Jobs lived, thought, and ran his company. It s an interesting opportunity to
look at the inner workings of one of the tech world s most private men.
So what lessons can leaders glean from Steve Jobs? There are too many to choose but here are five of
the critical lessons one can learn from Steve Jobs life and success.

A review of various definitions finds that a vision differs from other forms of direction setting in
several ways: A vision has clear and compelling imagery that offers an innovative way to improve,
which recognizes and draws on traditions, and connects to actions that people can take to realize
change. Vision taps people’s emotions and energy. Properly articulated, a vision creates the
enthusiasm that people have for sporting events and other leisure time activities, bringing this energy
and commitment to the workplace.
The key properties of a vision seem to be inspirational possibilities that are value centered, realizable,
with superior imagery and articulation. Visions should be able to create possibility that are
inspirational, unique, and offer a new a order that can produce organizational distinction.
A vision is likely to fail if it doesn’t offer a view of the future that is clearly and demonstrably
better for the organization and its members. Desirable visions fit the times and circumstances and
reflect the uniqueness of the organization. People in the organization must also believe that the vision
is attainable. It should be perceived as challenging yet doable. Also, visions that have clear articulation
and powerful imagery are more easily grasped and accepted.

had something that looked like a map of the world and a rolling combination lock. I pressed a couple

The Intersection Of Social Movements And Art
The intersection of social movements and Art is one that can be observed throughout the civil right
movements of America in the 1960 s and early 1970 s. The sixties in America saw a substantial
cultural and social change through activism against the Vietnam war, women s right and against the
segregation of the African American communities. Art became a prominent method of activism to
advocate the civil rights movement. It was a way to express self identity as well as the struggle that
people went through and by means of visual imagery a way to show political ideals and forms of
resistance. To examine how a specific movement can have a profound effects on the visual art, this

Romare Bearden, started his artistic career being an abstractionist, however the civil right movement
had an impact on his art which lead him to the creation of the group called spiral. With the help of
other black artists, Bearden sought to reflect how they could portray their connection to the civil right
movement through their arts as a racial group minority. Ralph Ellison (1977), mentions the
anachronism of the American social experience of minority artists which could then be used to
understand the motivation behind the art of Bearden. This anachronism refers to; The imbalance in
American society which leads to a distorted perception of social reality, to a stubborn blindness to the
creative possibilities of cultural diversity, to the prevalence of negative myth, racial stereotypes and
dangerous illusion about art, humanities and society. (Ellison: 1977 : pp.673) It is then argued that
many artists are often majorly influenced by the power of this anachronism, as their culture as well as
the freedom of representing their self identity through aesthetic technique of self expression that are
already existing. This, then restrict their attempt to seek change of the complex social situation they
experience. Meanwhile, it is said that Bearden attempt not to follow the anachronism in is art by

History has constantly brought upon leaders and individuals who stands up against the corrupt society

others that are too afraid to speak out. One of the most notorious writers in American history and is
known for his transcendental ideals. However, today s society lacks individuals who parallels with
Whitman. Lupe Fiasco represents the Modern American voice speaking out against the degrading

In the song, Fiasco portrays the manipulation that many are often affected by. He suggests that others
should, like him, ignore what others think and act purely on what you believe. Fiasco uses the analogy
of slaves to describe the similar effects of losing one s individuality. The experiences one would face
if he/she succumbs into the negative influences of others would be similar to that of African American
slaves. Because of human nature, jealousy exists amongst every individual and by allowing others to
control aspects of your life, he/she will be able harm those dependent variables of one s life. Similarly,
Whitman states that one should freely ...give alms to everyone that asks, stand up for the stupid and
crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience
and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown or to any man or
number of men, go freely with powerful uneducated persons and with the young and with the mothers
of families... (Leaves of Summer, Preface) Whitman again describes the idea of individualism. People
fear of the higher power and often let that fear consume them, eventually eliminating the individual s
ability to act freely. He implies that people should ignore those circumstances and without

Ramjet Engine Advantages And Disadvantages
These turbines are connected to the compressor and also the fan. So basically when turbines rotate, the
compressor and the fan also rotate. What happens is that the airflow coming from the combustion
chamber makes the turbines rotate and as the turbines rotate, they also make the fan and the
compressor spin. Finally the gases exit through the nozzle. So a turbofan gets some of its thrust from
the core of the engine while some of its thrust from the fan. The ratio of the air that goes around the
engine to the air that goes from inside the core is called the bypass ratio.
Advantage
Some of the advantages of a turbofan engine over other air breathing engines are:
Quieter due to lower exhaust speed and greater mass flow.

Advantages
Some of the advantages of a ramjet engine over other engines are:
It has no moving parts.
Uses common jet fuel.
Efficient up to Mach number 6.
Efficient up to minimum speed of 600 mph.
High thrust to weight ratio.
Light in weight.
Examples
Examples of aircrafts that use ramjet engines are SR 72 and X 15.
Scramjet Engine
Scramjet stands for Supersonic Combustion Ramjet.
It works pretty much like the ramjet engine. It takes in air through air inlet but instead of slowing it
down to subsonic speed, it compresses the air to a supersonic speed. After compression, the air is
combusted but instead of using normal jet fuel like other engine, the scramjet engine uses hydrogen
for combustion. After combustion, the air is let out through the exhaust. The increase in air s
temperature and pressure, causes acceleration in the aircraft and thrusts it forward.
The scramjet engine starts working once it reaches the speed Mach 5. The scramjet engine works at
very high speeds and it can achieve extremely high speeds.
Disadvantages or Scramjet Engine
Some of the disadvantages of scramjet engine are:
Scramjet engines are still in

Justice System In Robert Louis Stevenson s Just Mercy
In the first half of Stevenson s Just Mercy, he depicts this almost binary system within his experiences
in the justice system: a majority class and a vulnerable class, with a few outliers in between. The
majority class operates for those in power and actively against the vulnerable. By attacking the
vulnerable, it performs as almost a fuel for those within the system who have ambition to ascend its
ranks. For example, by Alabama using elections to select its judges (70), this allows the system to
uphold the desires and opinions of those in the majority, without any checks and balances on the
equity of the system and its integrity to the law. The system, in a sense, becomes an arm of the
majority, not an institution grounded in equitable justice

The Impact Of Digital Media On The Cinema Industry
Technological innovations have brought about significant changes in in almost every aspect of the
society. The proliferation of the Internet and new media has changed the way people live, work and
entertain. Long time forms of entertainment, such as music, games or movies have been changed
accordingly. Within the entertainment industry, the cinema sector is experiencing dramatic
transformations. Consumers are now provided with a wide range of ways to access their products.
Traditional practices of enjoying movies, especially going to the cinema, are said to be diminished by
the use of digital media. From this, there are two contradictory points of view about the future of
cinema. Some observers concern that digital developments are posing ... Show more content on

This transformation is demonstrated by the number of theater screens with recognized international
standards, and the enormous revenue earned by movie theaters daily. While there are great potentials
to further develop, the current local cinema market is facing several major problems.
It is vital to recognize the significance of digital technologies in the contemporary media environment.
Digital media have changed the production, distribution and reception of movies, therefore affected
the business of all institutions. On a larger scale, major issues emerging from these transformations
can lead to long time, critical problems for the whole industry. Acknowledging and understanding
those issues, therefore, can be advantageous to develop necessary measures to avoid or resolve the
problems. In this context, the combination of spreadable media and digital disruption theories can be
employed as the conceptual framework, within which to analyze these alterations.
Structure
The structure of this paper is as follows: first, it reviews the current literature of the media and
technological development, within the paradigm of media convergence and its related concepts. Next,
it investigates the shifts in the movie industry as a result of digitization. The potential consequences of
the digital disruption will also be explored.
The methodology will examine two case studies in

Evidence And Physical Evidence
INTRODUCTION
Evidence plays a major role usually in trail of a case. Several types of evidence can be used. Evidence
can be divided into two categories Testimonial evidence and Physical evidence. Physical evidence is
one type of such evidence; this evidence can be brought to court room for observation during trails.
This is the most important evidence. Physical evidence is also known as real evidence, they consist
tangible article from tiny microscopic to macroscopic evidence from large building to molecules in air.
It can be in solid, gas or liquid form. Advances in forensic science have increased the use of physical
evidence
Physical evidence helps to narrow down a case. This evidence cannot ... Show more content on

Fixed or immovable evidence : The evidence that cannot be moved or removed from crime scene
because of its nature, size or shape. This type of evidence should examine from the crime scene itself
or should be lifted using specific techniques. Some of the examples are

Tire marks on dust, floor or mud
Door frame
Window frame
Walls
Telephone poles
Physical evidence has certain physical dimensions like shape, size, width, state, pattern etc. Such
evidence can be recorded, collected, preserved by using different techniques. Physical evidence can be
also called as material, indirect, circumstantial evidence based on different context.
TYPES OF PHYSICAL EVIDENCES
It s impossible to list down the physical evidence because this evidence depends upon the nature,
manner and the location of the crime committed. But few physical evidences r listed out with can be

The Accomplishment Of One s Goal
Success is something people want but don t know how to achieve.Success is the accomplishment of
one s goal. Certain habits however need to be developed in life that help insure success. Many of the
three stated as habits to be successful in life are resilience, self motivation and setting goals. In order
to be successful the habits that can be encounter are resilience which turn your greatness into success
after a difficult experience, which we need to be self motivated which helps to embrace the pain that
can be a part of the success and allows us to set goals for ourself. Resilience is the key to success that
enables people to move through hardship and become better. No one escapes pain, fear and suffering.
Yet from pain can come wisdom, from fear can come courage, from suffering can come strength. A lot
of people misunderstand It s not about bouncing back. Resilient people do not bounce back from
hardship. We cannot bounce back because we cannot go back in time. You will not be the same person

The Magnetic Field Of A Permanent Magnet

Task 3.1
a) The magnetic field of a permanent magnet causes the atoms to move around uniformly in the same
direction. This may vary depending on the electrons of the atoms causing a variety of atoms to be able
to do this and few which can hold a permanent magnetic field. It is an invisible field and it is also
called a vector because of the forces specified direction and magnitude. The arrow displays the
direction of the force and also how the forces are. The closer the lines are together it shows how much
stronger it is also the further away they are it shows how much weaker they are.

If the magnet is withdrawn, the direction of the current is reversed. Such currents are called induced
currents. The current flows in the conductor as a result of an electromotive force that is induced the so
called induced EMF
The effect of conductor moving through a magnetic field is that it would cause a electromagnetic field
which is used in transformers to change current and voltage.
Mutual inductance is the magnetic field generated by a coil of wire which induces a voltage in the
other coil of wire. A transformer is an object constructed of multiple numbers of coils in close
proximity to each other, with the express purpose of creating a condition of mutual inductance
between the coils.
Transformers Having a different number of coils between two coils of wire can cause a decreas of
voltage of AC currents in applications. Transformers are based on Faraday s Law of electromagnetic
induction and mutual induction; the transformer has the first wire coil that emits a magnetic flux that
has a EMF in a secondary wire coil with aid of a high magnetic permeable core.

Process Of Negotiation Essay
Negotiation is a fundamental process used in resolving conflicts, making business deals, and in
managing working relationships with others. Negotiations occur for two reasons: (1) to resolve a
problem or dispute between parties, or (2) to create something new that neither party could do on its
own. Negotiating is a critical, every day skill that is essential anytime it is necessary to create short
term or long lasting agreements. For example: In 1996, Juwan Howard signed a contract worth over
$100 million with the Miami Heat and nearly became the highest paid NBA player during the 96 97
NBA season. However, his contract was voided by the NBA citing that the Heat exceeded its salary

Relationship Between Job Accessibility And Labor Market...
Answer: We added recent studies in our literature review. Several current studies also have attempted
to explore the relationship between job accessibility and labor market outcomes. Stoll and Covington
(2012) identified that racial segregation especially between Blacks and Whites are the primary
determinant in spatial mismatch. Barton and Gibbons (2015) found that the concentration of different
forms of transit is associated with changes in neighborhood median household income. However, Hu
(2015) argued that inner city poor job seekers do not face spatial mismatch because their job
accessibility is greater than that of job seekers in suburban areas. As mentioned above, they did not
directly address endogeneity between accessibility and labor market outcomes. 3. Page 9, line 9: data

Philosophy of Literacy Instruction
Literacy Defined
Literacy embraces reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Integrating all of these into a literacy
program is key. Teachers must provide endless and ongoing opportunities for their student to read,
write, listen, and speak.
There are many components that make up literacy. In order to effectively teach students these
components the teacher must model the concept for the students. As teachers, we can t expect or
assume that the student already knows what we expect of them. Modeling gives students a basis of
what to go by. Modeling is the first and most important step in order for the students to gain mastery
of a concept. A teacher must also undergo guided practice with the students. A teacher should always

For every area of development that I need to address with a student I will make sure that I have at least
two positives to go along with it. This will not bring a child down.
Another important part of my literacy program will be communication with home. I will send home
newsletters and have school meetings where the parents are invited to attend. I will always keep the
parents/guardians informed on everything we are doing in class. I will send home praise notes rather
than just negative notes on students.
In my classroom I will have a specific outline as to what a literacy lesson will look like. Each lesson
will focus on reading, writing, speaking, and listening. I will have a set behavior management plan
that will be followed at all times. I will always introduce a lesson by activating prior knowledge,
motivating the student, and by stating the objectives. I will always model for the students what it is
that they are expected to do. The students will always undergo guided practice before they set off on
their own to do something. Then when I am sure that the students understand I will have them
independently practice. Once the concept is mastered I will assess each student to be sure that they can
apply what they have learned.
When my students pick up a book they will automatically know what to do. I will teach the students to
always predict before they read. I will have the students look at the title and the picture on the

that National Aeronautic Space Administration (NASA) and Kennedy Space Center are presented with

The authors Pielke R. Jr and Byerly R. of the article Shuttle Programme Lifetime Cost , discuss in

how much the Space Administration spent for each separate Space Shuttle launch. During the
operational years from 1982 to 2010, the average cost per launch was about $1.2 billion. Over the life
of the programme, this increases to about $1.5 billion per launch (p. 38). This source brought a new
perspective into my thought process about how costly the space programs can be. The authors of the
article presented the information though graphs as well, which I intend to include in my final research
paper. This source also had me eager to look up how much the National Government has funded
NASA over the past years. Researching the topic of NASA s budget presented alarming evidence
about the shrinking government funding that the agency receives. According to NASA Budget ,
published in 2012, the following monetary amounts show the decrease in the amount of funding the
National Government is providing NASA $553.8 million in fiscal 1995, $155.5 million in fiscal 1996,
$131.7 million in fiscal 1997, $61 million in fiscal 1998, $51.3 million in fiscal 2000, $10.8 million in

reasons to doubt. It goes without saying that, as a unified movement, we barely have any control over

The purpose of this essay is to look at the long history of the Welfare State in Britain and the evolving

the Second World War which was the turning point (watershed) in British History. The freshly

or lack, during the post war a lot of the British people were in need, they had no basic financial
support and health care to keep them alive as well as keeping them above the poverty line by which
income does not cover necessities. Due to lack of financial support people could not afford education
and this resulted in lack of knowledge which is referred to as Ignorance, this was due to poor
education. To make matter worst there was no national health care because, this had to be paid for, but
there was no money and medical care was not free and this led to the outbreak of many diseases such
as cholera, this was also linked to want, no money no medical care. Nevertheless, there were hospitals
and only the rich in society could afford medical treatment, however, today the welfare state had made
medical treatment available for all regardless of employment status. People were living in slums

banning the sell and consumption of alcohol would better protect the lives of people as well as make

if the workers could remain sober. The Volsted Act was passed shortly after the Eighteenth

The Unconverted Self By Jonathan Boyarin Essay
In The Unconverted Self, author Jonathan Boyarin reexamines the relationship between Christian
Europe and the world around it, especially in the context of interreligious dialogue as a means of
defining Christian identity. The common school of thought, as presented in this book, is that European
identity reaches modernity after 1492 with the discovery of the radically different culture of
Indigenous Americans (p. 9). Boyarin argues that this is untrue, as this belief operates under the
incorrect assumption that the European people were a homogenous population (p.9). Instead, Boyarin
seeks to move beyond the concept of two separate Europes, and proposes instead that this othering
that was so critical to define Christian identity was already occurring in pre contact Europe (p. 1). For
this, Boyarin looks to the Jewish and Muslim populations of Europe as a replacement for the
Indigenous American peoples. He asserts that this sense of the other threatening Christendom existed
far before 1492, and outlines the ways in which this conflict in religious dimensionality was vital to
the formation of Christian identity. Boyarin s volume presents a concise read that reexamines existing
scholarship and recontextualizes historical events to create a convincing argument, as well as provide
questions for future scholarship to build upon. However, there were aspects in this book that were
lacking, causing it to be an almost tedious read at parts. The Unconverted Self uses the history

Negative Effects Of Advertising
Firstly, advertisements have negative impacts on young people. Media has played a major role in
influencing people s perception of the differences between male and female expectations. For
example, sex appeal in advertising can have negative effects on youth s self esteem, body image and
can brainwash their young minds to purchase the company s products. Advertisements have always
used sex appeal to gain attention and persuade people to buy that certain product. The media creates
an unrealistic body image, and women are often shown as sexy, thin and beautiful. These images can
pressurize young people to look and behave this way. Also, it can impact them physically and
mentally and decrease their self esteem/self worth. A tool that is used ... Show more content on

For instance, youngsters that don t buy branded clothes or shoes may feel bad about themselves and
might start to believe that they don t fit in the group. Advertisements can encourage people to buy
products and make them think that purchasing and consuming are a major part of their lives.
Therefore, advertisements can alter an individual s way of thinking and force them to believe and feel
in a certain way. Secondly, there is a lack of equal representation in video games. Women are often
represented as submissive and subordinate characters that depend on men. They are oftentimes
categorized in four groups of characters like sex objects or prizes, victims, feminists and heroes
(Dupon). For young people that are still developing their perception about women, these stereotypes
can be detrimental and create a misrepresentation on women. Female roles in video games are
presented as sexual objects and victims, but male gender roles are shown as heroes, villains and as
overly aggressive and violent. In video games, female characters are excessively under represented
and are mainly given secondary roles in relation to men. For examples Mario Brother s popular
princess Peach Toadstool was present in the early video games, but the players could not choose to
play her character. She was a damsel in distress that the brothers were attempting to rescue . Women in
video games are shown scantily clad and used as

The Importance Of Setting In Cress By Meyer
The setting in a book is so important it can make the plot more exciting or very long and dreary. The
setting can make or break the characters in the book. When the author does not explain the setting
every well it can make the reader confused as to what else is going on in the plot. In Cress there are
examples of an exciting setting, how the characters develop, and how the great detail of the setting is
explained.
In Cress, Meyer the author, shows the diversity of a setting can keep the reader on their toes. Meyer
tells the stories of old fairytales that we all know and makes them new. We follow Cinder and Captain
Thorn out of Bajine out to outer space to save Cress that is in a satellite and then to the middle of the
sahara desert. Her shoulder collided with Niels and she started to fall backward, but then he was
gripping her by the elbow and hauling her against him. (Meyer 328). In this Cress has been captured
and brought to the doctor that likes to test the Lunar to get a cure for the plague. But Cress would have
never gotten taken if Thorn had left her at the hotel then she would still be safe. The reader never gets

taking the reader to many places that they would dream about and it is the author s job to give that to
the reader. Making sure that the author does this they should be able to read what they have written
without any confusion about what is happening in the setting. The setting gives the reader a hint about
character development, keeping the reader s interest and giving a clear image of the setting to the

Misconceptions Of Grief Essay
3 Dangerous Misconceptions About the Phases of Grief
Everyone reacts and processes events in life differently. For example, to miss the train while you are
leaving for a weekend getaway could make some people go into a panic and it could even ruin their
entire weekend by having this rough start. While the next person might look at it as a minor setback
that just makes the trip more interesting.
Another example could be a breakup or divorce from a long term significant other. While one person
may be excited about starting a new chapter in life, another may find it hard to embrace their sense of
identity without the other person in their life any more.
Or the loss of a job, one person may simply move on looking for the next job trusting fate has
something else in store, while another may shut down and turn to drugs or alcohol for comfort as they
cannot see themselves in a different kind of role. The human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Misconception #1: You are Done Grieving Once You Complete all the Phases
KJSomehow the idea spawned from the five phases of grief that by working through this process, you
will at some point be done grieving. That s it. You re healed. You will no longer experience the
emotions of grief.
Wrong. Nothing can ever replace that loved one. Throughout life, there will be forever moments that
bring back the stages of grief that will come and go.
A thought of your loved one could trigger emotions that feel like depression.
Just thinking about how different your life is after their death may still seem unreal, as it did during
the initial shock stage.
Remembering how their life was at the very end while they were dying can trigger thoughts of what
you could have done differently, or what you would give to have them back, which is consistent with

Difference between a Mutual Fund and an Index Fund
Mutual Funds vs. Index Funds New Imperatives for the small individual investor and the general
public BY: Allen Jackson Document outline: Introduction How does this issue relate to public
finance? What is a mutual fund? What is an index fund? Shortcomings of the mutual fund Why index
funds are better long term investments Conclusion Introduction To begin, the stock market has been an
arena notorious for its extreme wealth creation. In today s news, the small investor is inundated with
information regarding particular countries, individual companies, and future macroeconomic
predictions in regards to the stock market. With all this information, the small investor is left hopeless
to sift through it all, in hopes of finding the particular asset that can secure retirement, pay for a child s
education, or provide a stable life. To the small investor s detriment however, many of them do not
have the time, expertise or inclination to study individual companies in hopes of determining which
one merits his or her hard earned money. Even more important, the few dollars the investor does have
to invest must be invested in a manner that does not lose him or her any money. In such instances, the
investor must now work even harder to cover any loses incurred and still afford to live comfortably in
retirement. As such, the investor forgoes this headache of stock picking and elects to give his money
to a mutual fund manager. This action on the surface seems correct,

Mao Zedong And The Great Leap Forward
Did you know that Mao Zedong is in fact the greatest mass murderer in world history? On the other
hand, did you know that without Mao Zedong, China would not be the world power with a leading
economy that it is today? These seemingly contradictory statements are only part of the persistent
dispute about Mao s complicated and controversial legacy. The leadership of Mao Zedong in China
from 1921 1976, including the Great Leap Forward, his Five Year Plans, and the Cultural Revolution,
significantly impacted China in both positive and negative ways, leaving him with a very controversial
legacy that is still debated today.
Throughout most of its long history, China was ruled through a series of dynasties characterized by
alternating periods of unity and fragmentation. After the Chinese people overthrew the Qing dynasty
in 1911 during the Chinese Revolution, China became a republic, known as the Republic of China
(Gay 14). In 1921, Mao Zedong became one of the founding members of the Chinese Communist
Party. Through a series of military and political successes, The Chinese Communist Party grew in
power until 1949 when Mao Zedong proclaimed the People s Republic of China, a communist party
led country with himself as its sole ruler.
Once Mao Zedong rose to power, he began implementing his vision of China as an industrialized
nation built on Communist ideals. For example, to further enhance China s reputation and world
presence, Mao signed a treaty with the world s only other

Income inequality is highly prevalent throughout Canada, affecting the health of its citizens, and over
burdening its health care system. The growing gap between incomes is largely in part to the economic
neoliberalism taking place within Canada. The stress placed on lower and middle income families
through various social determents of health is taking its toll on society and its individuals. The

This income inequality started with Canada s most recent recession, but as we left this recession
income inequality continued to rise. The Gini coefficient is the most widely used measure of
inequality, comparing the dispersion of income throughout a nations citizens. Over the past few years
the Canadian Gini coefficient has been steadily increasing. In a study completed by Picot, G and Hou,
F of Statistics Canada it was found that Income inequality typically rises in recessions, as it did in the
early 1980s and 1990s, and therefore might be expected to fall in economic expansions. But this did
not occur in the late 1990s expansion, and this period instead displayed the largest rise income
inequality in the past three decades. This rise in income inequality continues to burden Canadian
residents, increasing social determents of health within the country. The government has placed the
responsibilities of housing, child care, education, retirement and much more on the individual. With
all of the stress and responsibility placed on individuals, the Canadian government continues to make
cuts to public expenditure on government aids. Depriving citizens of any safety nets and blaming them
for being unable to acquire these underfunded social services. All of this stress has a significant impact
on one s overall health and wellness. From cancer to child mortality, nearly every

there have been many crucial discoveries at the Cavendish Laboratory, including DNA, the electron,

would be useful in the process of studying DNA. James Watson attended a lecture by Wilkins on the

Francis Crick, who was working on his dissertation on the x ray crystallography of hemoglobin, was

obtained x rays taken by Rosalind Franklin that they realised DNA had a double helix shape. These x
rays were obtained without Franklin s permission and were crucial to the discovery of the shape of
DNA. Watson and Crick s first article on their discoveries regarding the double helix shape appeared
in an issue of the journal Nature, along with other articles on DNA by other scientists. Watson, Crick,

Tiger Vs Tiger Essay
Did you know that comparing the merit of lions and tigers has been a popular discussion amongst
hunters? While lions and tigers are both ferocious animals, people have often wondered if the two
animals were to fight, who would win, the lion, or the tiger. In ancient Rome, the tiger versus lion face
off wasn t uncommon. Tigers are considered the largest wild cats in the world, whereas lions are the
second largest big cat. Tigers are heavier than lions and can weigh up to 800 pounds. Meanwhile,
Lions only weigh up to 550 pounds. Tigers and lions are both mammals and also excellent hunters.

They have eighteen claws , five on each front foot and four on each back foot. Tigers are more
aggressive than lions are. A single tiger will regularly take on game that is much stronger and far
larger than even the lion. On the contrary, the lion will require the help of the pride to take out large
game. Tigers are fast and brutal fighters. When a tiger fights, he fights for the kill, not just to push
another animal aside. Tiger s tend to go for the throat to kill whereas a lion would rather not fight. A
lion would rather roar and just pound the tiger and try to scare off his opponent if he can.
Rome s Colosseum was built in the first century A.D., and held thousands of gladiator games. Lions
and tigers and other animals were made to fight against each other and humans. Ancient paintings of
the event usually showed the tiger winning. In addition, in the late 1800 s the Gaekwad of Baroda, an
Indian ruler, arranged a fight between the tiger and the lion. Before the fight began people bet that the
tiger would win, and it did. Furthermore, in 2011 , a tiger killed a lion at the Ankara Zoo. The tiger
found a gap in the fence separating their cages and severed the lion s jugular vein with just one stroke
with the paw. Craig Saffoe, a biologist and the curator of great cats at the Smithsonian Zoo in

  • 2. Commerce Is Creating Wealth For Society The among the many functions of commerce is creating wealth for society. However, it is questionable if the firm in Margin Call follows through with its role acting in the interests of society in its bleak predicament. Once it is revealed that there is a high probability of the firm being devalued beyond market capitalization, the employees of an unnamed company attempt to formulate a solution to the imminent crisis. Although there is some dissent from Sam Rogers, Head of Sales and Trading, CEO Tuld promptly decides to liquidate the firm s toxic assets onto the market. Despite the unanimous direction the firm moves in, there are various sources of internal tensions between the firm s employees in that they individually represent differing perspectives within the social context of the firm. Through the various rationales the executives possess as well as the relationships between the employees and the firm itself, Margin Call illustrates the conviction that although the role of commerce is to engender a certain lifestyle for the public, the executives in the firm have warped this belief into a justification for the extreme measures they lead the firm to take in the name of their profit and their survival. In the first scene of Margin Call, the social hierarchy of the firm is staunchly established as Will himself is nonchalant about the layoff because he holds a relatively senior position in the firm and it s evident that he has survived through other layoffs. Last year Starbucks had to raise prices globally, but especially in the United States and China, due to rising prices for coffee and other ingredients, but this year they are taking the hit from the rising coffee prices for the consumers (Baertlein, 2011). Although the prices of coffee had to be raised globally due to the high demand of the product and the cost of producing it, there is still a strong outlook for the coffee industry because of the large consumer base of the industry. The coffee industry is expected to continue growing through at least the year 2015 and even longer in other emerging markets around the world (Lingle, 2007). Even if the market in the United States begins to decline, there are other emerging markets for the specialty coffee industry. Due to Brazil s rising economy, it is set to be the biggest coffee drinking country in the world with recent coffee consumer growth of 39% from 2000 to 2009 (Murphy, 2011). With Brazil s upper and middle classes expanding, it has more money to spend on specialty coffee and other superfluous items. And solutions are required to solve is problem the salesperson in order to salvage the sale. 1. What mistaken did Susan make? 2. How should she have handled this sale? According to the case, one of the mistaken that Susan did is lack of understanding her customer. She did not know the customer s problem and needs deeply, but she only knows how to provide specification the product as well as list out the better result of the new product comparing to the old ones. In this case, production is refused to use PPM Ltd. s product again as he experience the problem of control before. Besides, most of the buyer would make decision based on their need on their position (Ingram, LaForge, Avilla, Schwepker, and Willams (2006), pg. 64). For example, purchasing manager make decisions based on the needs of the company, also the value, benefits, features or technology and price of the product (Ingram et al. 2006, pg. 85). On the other hand, production manager make decisions by how to handling or control the product (Ingram et al. 2006, pg. 85). The decision of production manager is essential because he understands the product of PPM Ltd more than purchasing manager as he experienced the problems of the product but not purchasing manager (Ingram et al. 2006, pg. 85). Thus, similar to the case of Learning the ropes (Rix, Buss Herford 1999, pp. 302 304), purchasing officer should make decision by accept the recommendation of the production manager due to the production manager is the key person would affect final decision of sale as well as called buying point. 4. What should Susan do now to try to salvage the sale? According to the case, it is obvious that the production manager is lack of trust to PPM Ltd. s product due to his previous bad experience of PPM Ltd. s product. • 6. Why Is Chivalry To Build A Better World In a time where vulgar diseases and vile wars were rampant, people needed something to live by, they needed a purpose, chivalry. Today, we have looming towers, hospitals, structure, and government. There are no viral diseases like those of the dark ages but, the ideas of chivalry could still help the world today. Although chivalry has codes for warfare, it encourages the prevention of crime and warfare. If people abide by this and don t commit crime then the rising crime rates will decrease and people will have better lives. Since 2015 there was a 4.1% increase in the crime rate. This number could be decreasing rather than increasing if people followed the codes of chivalry. Abiding by chivalry could decrease tension between countries because it encouraged honor and no desire for war. A great example of how this could help is by looking at Germany in the early 1900 s, later the Germans lost WWI and were in massive debt then they started WWII and lost, which put them even more in debt. ... Watt did a chivalrous act. He began with a 100,000 dollar goal, and with the kindness and generosity of others, he raised an astounding 37 million dollars. This is where chivalry would help those that struggle with doing the right ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Visiting The Milwaukee Art Museum From Jane Bradley Pettit While visiting the Milwaukee Art Museum the art piece that stood out to me the most was Union II by Yaacov Agam in 1977, a gift to the museum from Jane Bradley Pettit. This art piece was created with Oil on a piece of wood with a repeated upside down V texture. It stood out to me the most because of how it surprised me when I looked at it in a different perspective and the painting changed, being 3 paintings in one. The art piece is viewable in the appendix section at the end of the Analysis. Looking at each of the art angles we see that only the front view shows implied lines with the separation of colors between the texture s slopes. This texture is created by an upside down V hump throughout the artwork, which can be seen in the Enhanced View in the appendix. Moving from Left Side to Right Side the other artworks are shown at only certain angles, we see here lines become complete rather than implied, becoming more abstract; this also shows that the element of motion is from the viewer is needed to see this artwork completely. From the front view the artwork shows implied shape, the left side, shows shape with objects with curved edges and lines, and the right side shows objects with straight/sharp edges. We can also say that, overall, this piece of artwork has form due to the necessity for the artist to create these 3rd Dimensional V humps to show the other artworks at their angles. This work of art also employed value as shown in all 3 angles, we can see that at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is this unity that the baptized are born into, for there is one Body, and one Spirit dwelling within. The power for humanity to share in the Divine Nature was entrusted, by Christ, to the College of the Twelve , with Peter, the rock on whom the Church is built, who possesses the keys of the Kingdom, whom Christ entrusted the sheep to be confirmed in faith and sheppard in perfect unity. • 9. Explain Why Cell Biology Embodies All The Principles Of Life 1. Cell biology embodies all the principles of life 2. Cells are small because they are limited by the surface area to volume ratio. The volume of the cell allows for the total number of chemical activity it carries out during an amount of time. The surface area of a cell determines the number of substances that go into the cell from the outside of the cell. It is also determined by the number of waste products that are able to go to the environment. The cell must be a certain volume in order to allow for a big enough surface area to volume ratio which lets substances in and out of the cell as well as allowing chemical reactions to occur. 3. The arctic tundra has one of the coldest and longest winters and a very short summer, but event then there is only a brief period of time where the sun shines and the temperatures are mild. The arctic tundra is home to few different species and organisms because the temperatures cause issues for organisms that need to maintain a certain body temperature. A few of the organisms in the Arctic tundra are penguins, Polar bears, fox, and different species of birds, as well as caribou, wolves, and grizzly bears. Malcolm X declares that if it is right for America to draft us and teach us how to be violent in defense of the country, then isn t right for you and me to do whatever is necessary to defend our own people right here in this country. ;(89) Consequently, he believed that only through revolution and force could blacks attain their rightful place in society. In one of his speeches Malcolm X encouraged blacks to hate whites and to revolt against them. He claims that revolution is bloody, revolution is hostile, revolution knows no compromise, revolution overturns and destroys everything that gets in it way. ; However, when he later broke free from the black Muslim movement began emphasizing unity and change through black pride and respect for oneself rather than through hate and revenge. He told blacks that if they had any chance of blacks attaining equality, then their first priority would be to gain self respect and join together in a group effort to combat racist views. (253) I believe that there is one main problem that hinders the idea of having a group effort to achieve equality. That is that our minds seem to support and defend our own reasoning and actions, whether they are right or wrong. We have to learn how to admit being wrong. • 12. Analysis Of The World We Have Lost History is a collection of stories, and stories can often differ from the facts. This is because the past can often be distorted and only show certain aspects deemed important. Historian Peter Laslett is frustrated by this and describes in his paper The World We Have Lost how the pre industrial society has been forgotten. Society has mostly been patriarchal in human history. Each household contained roughly 10 20 people, ran by a male master, housing his wife, children, apprentices, and servants. The group was considered a family and usually worked together producing a singular product as well as maintaining the household. Land owning men ran the world and hired those who were less fortunate. Today however, families now consist of related individuals that live separate lives with separate beliefs. Should patriarchy stay in the past or should it be adopted into modern life? I believe that Laslett s lost world was abandoned for a reason and should stay lost due to the modern ideas of choice, change, and culture. Choice is the best part of today s society. The life I am living today would not be possible in patriarchal society. I am living on my own, attending university a thousand miles away from home in a completely different field of my father. This will draw on the contrasts between the biomedical model and the social model within healthcare. The biomedical model is focused on the body, not the person. Vision taps people’s emotions and energy. Properly articulated, a vision creates the enthusiasm that people have for sporting events and other leisure time activities, bringing this energy and commitment to the workplace. What happens is that the airflow coming from the combustion chamber makes the turbines rotate and as the turbines rotate, they also make the fan and the compressor spin. Finally the gases exit through the nozzle. So a turbofan gets some of its thrust from the core of the engine while some of its thrust from the fan. After compression, the air is combusted but instead of using normal jet fuel like other engine, the scramjet engine uses hydrogen for combustion. After combustion, the air is let out through the exhaust. The increase in air s temperature and pressure, causes acceleration in the aircraft and thrusts it forward. During the operational years from 1982 to 2010, the average cost per launch was about $1.2 billion. Over the life of the programme, this increases to about $1.5 billion per launch (p. 38). This source brought a new perspective into my thought process about how costly the space programs can be. The authors of the article presented the information though graphs as well, which I intend to include in my final research paper. • 38. The Unconverted Self By Jonathan Boyarin Essay In The Unconverted Self, author Jonathan Boyarin reexamines the relationship between Christian Europe and the world around it, especially in the context of interreligious dialogue as a means of defining Christian identity. The common school of thought, as presented in this book, is that European identity reaches modernity after 1492 with the discovery of the radically different culture of Indigenous Americans (p. 9). Boyarin argues that this is untrue, as this belief operates under the incorrect assumption that the European people were a homogenous population (p.9). Instead, Boyarin seeks to move beyond the concept of two separate Europes, and proposes instead that this othering that was so critical to define Christian identity was already occurring in pre contact Europe (p. 1). For this, Boyarin looks to the Jewish and Muslim populations of Europe as a replacement for the Indigenous American peoples. He asserts that this sense of the other threatening Christendom existed far before 1492, and outlines the ways in which this conflict in religious dimensionality was vital to the formation of Christian identity. Boyarin s volume presents a concise read that reexamines existing scholarship and recontextualizes historical events to create a convincing argument, as well as provide questions for future scholarship to build upon. However, there were aspects in this book that were lacking, causing it to be an almost tedious read at parts. The Unconverted Self uses the history ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What is a mutual fund? What is an index fund? Shortcomings of the mutual fund Why index funds are better long term investments Conclusion Introduction To begin, the stock market has been an arena notorious for its extreme wealth creation. In today s news, the small investor is inundated with information regarding particular countries, individual companies, and future macroeconomic predictions in regards to the stock market. With all this information, the small investor is left hopeless to sift through it all, in hopes of finding the particular asset that can secure retirement, pay for a child s education, or provide a stable life. To the small investor s detriment however, many of them do not have the time, expertise or inclination to study individual companies in hopes of determining which one merits his or her hard earned money. Even more important, the few dollars the investor does have to invest must be invested in a manner that does not lose him or her any money.
