Introduction to Cyber Crime
The first recorded cyber crime took place in the year 1820! That is not surprising considering the fact
that the abacus, which is thought to be the earliest form of a computer, has been around since 3500
B.C. in India, Japan and China. The era of modern computers, however, began with the analytical
engine of Charles Babbage. Cyber crime is an evil having its origin in the growing dependence on
computers in modern life. In a day and age when everything from microwave ovens and refrigerators
to nuclear power plants is being run on computers, cyber crime has assumed rather sinister
implications. Major cyber crimes in the recent past include the Citibank rip off. US $ 10 million were
fraudulently transferred out of the bank and into a bank ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

sends obscene messages to all her acquaintances. Since the e mails appear to have originated from
Pooja, her friends could take offence and relationships could be spoiled for life. Email spoofing can
also cause monetary damage. In an American case, a teenager made millions of dollars by spreading
false information about certain companies whose shares he had short sold. This misinformation was
spread by sending spoofed emails, purportedly from news agencies like Reuters, to share brokers and
investors who were informed that the companies were doing very badly. Even after the truth came out
the values of the shares did not go back to the earlier levels and thousands of investors lost a lot of
money.

sophisticated computers, printers and scanners. Outside many colleges across India, one finds touts

quality scanners and printers. In fact, this has becoming a booming business involving thousands of
Rupees being given to student gangs in exchange for these bogus but authentic looking certificates.

Resources And Capabilities Of Dunkin Donuts
Nowadays, businesses endeavor to achieve a competitive advantage and so an outstanding
performance by applying different strategies and examining various strategic analyses. Key role for
this strategy is the manager s contribution, as he is the one to defy the company s objectives. The
manager is responsible in order to exploit the firm s available resources and strengthen its
competencies in order to produce competitive goods and services. The resources and capabilities are
among the fundamental sources a manager can use, when he structures the strategic management.
Resources are all the elements that a firm allocates and are divided in three categories. Tangible,
intangible and human resources.
Tangible resources are the assets that have physical form such as (land, cash, inventory, equipment,

The Recession Of The Housing Crisis
Several years ago, many of us could not imagine mortgage meltdown ending. It seemed as if the
foreclosures/short sales were increasing and the American dream of buying a home was decreasing.
Many people felt hopeless and cheated when it came to the economy s poor status due to the housing
crash. Many lessons were learned from the collapse and although it may seem hard to believe, there
were silver linings in the mistakes made during the mortgage meltdown. Today, real estate buyers are
benefiting from the past mistakes and have more confidence in their home buying purchases. The bad
times endured came with a slew of lessons that were learned. Now that the economy has recovered
fairly well, we can look back and analyze in depth what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you are financed for a higher dollar amount than expected, do not automatically increase your new
home price search on this number. Learn from homebuyers during the market boom those who were
financed for a higher amount than they could financially keep up with. Learn about interest rates and
adjustable mortgages. Learn about taxes and homeowner s insurance. Learn what you can truly afford
and all of the costs that go into having a home not just the principal mortgage payment. The third
lesson stems from the second lesson in regards to interest rates. Personally, I have never heard of
adjustable interest rates until the housing boom. I heard people gasping over their new monthly
mortgage payment that quadrupled once their first year or so of payments were up. Learn what fixed
rate mortgages are and what adjustable rate mortgages are. Adjustable rate mortgages appealed to
those who wanted the lowest possible interest rates and expected to be able to either sell their homes
or refinance them before their payments ballooned. Once their expectations didn t pan out, they were
stuck with an outrageously high interest rate. Do not blindly sign a 30 year contract; understand your
payments and agreements you have with your lender and expect to stick with it long term. If it is too
good to be true, it probably is. The fourth lesson is to do

The Pregnancy Of The Fetal Heart Rate
As technology progresses, it has become more important in our daily lives. Obstetricians and hospital
s rely on technology more than ever to flag potential problems during pregnancy, labor, and delivery
(1). Continuous recording of the fetal heart rate come into being in the 1970 s and is likely a big
contributor to the increase in Caesarean sections(1). Continuous monitoring allows doctors to make a
decision on what birthing method should be used: natural birth or caesarean. The benefits of natural
birth outweigh the risks of a Caesarean section to mother and baby. Pregnancy occurs when a sperm
and egg unite, this is called conception. A zygote is created, in one week the zygote attaches itself on
the uterine wall, and in two weeks becomes an embryo. Week 10 of pregnancy the embryo turns into a
fetus. The fetus develops more and more for 28 weeks. Around 39 40 weeks, a woman can go into
labor. Labor is when the mother starts having contractions, and the baby s head starts dropping into the
cervix. The cervix dilates and thins out. As the cervix is fully dilated at 10 centimeters the mother
beings pushing. Vaginal birth entails less discomfort after delivery (9). Vaginal birth babies can go
home with their babies sooner (9). Vaginal births take roughly one or two weeks for recovery (1).
During natural birth the baby gets a squeeze. This forces mucus and fluid out of the baby s airway.
With the Caesarean, the baby does not get the beneficial squeeze like vaginal

Psychodynamic Approach To Psychology
Behaviourists explain maladaptive behaviour in terms of the learning principles that sustain and

contrast to a psychoanalytic one
In this essay I will first of all explain the main principles and theories that underpin the behaviourist
approach to psychology. I will subsequently outline how behaviourist theory can provide therapists
with some insight into both the causes of maladaptive behaviour and how that behaviour might be
sustained and maintained. Having discussed the main behaviourist principles and how they relate to
maladaptive behaviour, I will then compare and contrast the behavioural approach with the

At first the rat would run up blind alleys in the maze but with experience it gradually learned how to
negotiate the maze to find the food more quickly.
Behaviourists like Skinner believed that the principles involved in these learning processes were
applicable to people and underpin complex human behaviour. Skinner proposed that behaviour
changes as a result of its consequences and that behaviour is also reinforced by reward. Behaviour that
is reinforced will also increase in frequency Skinner suggested. Similarly, he argued, negative
reinforcement works in the same way as positive re inforcement. For example, if a loud noise is made
every time a rat pokes its nose through its cage, the rat would stop doing it. He promoted the idea that
as humans are just another species, giving praise for desirable behaviour in a child would reinforce
that behaviour in the same way that getting food by pressing a lever in a box would reinforce
behaviour in a rat.
Skinner went further by suggesting that there is no such thing as free will; he called it the principle of
determinism, the assertion that all human behaviour is determined by what went before. Skinner s
hypotheses created widespread debate amongst psychologists and not surprisingly, his critics pointed
out that humans are very different to animals and that results from experiments conducted on rats in a
laboratory couldn t just be applied to human behaviour. Behaviourist critics reasoned

Apollo vs. The Palette of Narmer Essay example
The two works of art that have been chosen to compare and contrast are The Palette Of Narmer and
Apollo of Veii. The Palette Of Narmer dates back to the Hierakonpolis Dynasty 1 in 3100 BCE. The
Palette of Narmer is interesting because it is the oldest historic work of art that names a person, and is
the earliest piece of art that uses hieroglyph. This artwork depicts the dawn of a new age of man and
his use of writing and pictographs in art. The statue of Apollo, from Veii comes from the Etruscan art
period Apollo was created around 500 BCE. It was created by a very popular sculpture of his time, by
the name of Vulca. The delicate technique of firing clay is fascinating. A sculptor of Vulca s ability

Many scholars believe that palettes decorated with animals, birds, and human figures had some sort of
ceremonial function. On the palette, Narmer s name appears in pictographs a horizontal fish translated
Nar and a vertical chisel translated Mer. These hieroglyphs appear three times on this piece of art. The
king appears as the main character in various scenes on both sides of the palette, he also appears in
hierachical proportion representing the status of individuals in a highly stratified society. The
significance of the ruler appearing larger than other human figures indicates importance and divine
status. On one side of the palette Narmer appears with the White Crown of Upper Egypt signifying
that it has been tamed. On the opposite side he wears the Red Crown of Lower Egypt signifying that it
also had been tamed. These images amongst other images of conquest proclaim him to be the great
unifier, protector, and leader of the Egyptian people.
The statue of Apollo is made of painted Terra cotta, which is also known as baked clay. It is the same
material used for pottery containers. It stands at a height of five feet ten inches, and is recognized by
the statues archaic smile, well developed massive body, quick stride, and expressive power. Apollo is
partially concealed by a robe that cascades down in knife edged pleats to his knees. Apollo is shown
striding forward which to our eyes appears that he is stepping

The ability a substance has of dissolving is known as, solubility. Solute, is the substance being
dissolved, while solvent is the substance in which the solute is being dissolved in. The final product of
a solute and solvent mixing together is known as, a solution. Considering the fact that the research
question states that the purpose of this experiment is to understand how the mass of brown sugar
effects the time it takes to dissolve in 50ml of water, the solute of this experiment would be brown
sugar, while the solvent would be the 50ml of water. Five different masses of brown sugar will be

One of the main purpose of any type of sugar is to act as sweeteners, therefore they are found in many
kitchens throughout the world. Sugar also plays a huge part in reactions occurring, since it assists in
important chemical reactions that take place whist cooking and/or baking. Sugar has the ability to act
as a solute in many solutions, for example they have the ability to dissolve in water, therefore they are
soluble. This is because when sugar is placed in water, the sucrose molecule start breaking from the
sugar crystal, and begin to immediately get surrounded by water molecules, and eventually bond with
the water molecules. The fact that the negative and positive areas on the sucrose molecules attract the
polar water molecules, is also why sugar dissolves in water. Therefore in theory, the larger the
amount(mass) of sugar placed in water, the longer the sugar should take to dissolve completely, since
there would be more sucrose molecules to bond with the water molecules. The concept of brown sugar
dissolving in water is relevant to real life, due to the fact that this solution is constantly created by
numerous people as a part of their daily

Christianity In China
In the 17th century, European missionaries and trade were allowed in China because of their scientific
and technological knowledge. Because of their stay in China, many missionaries and traders began to
adopt Chinese customs and mix them with Catholicism. A group called The Society of Jesus served at
the Imperial court because of their knowledge of astronomy and mechanics (). Although the primary
goal of the Jesuits was to spread Catholicism, they were greatly influenced by the Chinese Confucian

customs in managing households and governments should not be interfered with. Only Chinese

any of the traditions or customs became contradictory, they were not tolerated under any

Single Shot Essay
A single shot. A single shot is all it takes to freeze time, and create a standstill that will last for
generations. A single shot can transport people to a point in time, to let them remember an occasion
that they may have otherwise forgotten; not because it is unimportant, but rather in the scheme of life
sometimes the small moments may go unnoticed. The brain continues to amaze people day by day the
fact that an object so easily created, and so easily destroyed. It can resurface every emotion that was
present in that moment: in the ice age of time. By looking at photography s emotional impact, one can
see the effect on people s perspective on life and the world; this is important because it brings
attention to the exclusivity of pictures, image use in news events, and the personal memoirs that they
create. A picture cannot be measured in words, money, or tangible objects, it is a priceless piece of a
person s history. Nothing in the world compares to a photograph, an authentic view into the past that is
only accessible through the lens of a camera. Drawings and paintings are tweaked by an artist s bias
on how they remember a moment, videos take away interpretation, which can keep people from
thinking, and cause them to only focus on watching. Snapshots are the only representation that exist in
the world that isolate a moment in time and let the mind wander back to the time when it took place.

Gfe3 Synthesis
In a recent study, researchers report a novel and easy way to hijack the brain s natural processes. This
technique, which involves the fusion protein GFE3, interferes with the inhibitory synapses between
neurons resulting in an overall rise in the brain s electrical activity.
The team, led by Don B. Arnold, professor of biological sciences at the University of Southern
California, used GFE3 which is a fusion of two proteins: E3 ligase, which degrades proteins; and
FingR, which recognizes and binds to proteins in inhibitory synapses.
Arnold explains: Rather than a cell deciding when a protein needs to be degraded, we sort of hijack
the process.
Synapses can either be excitatory or inhibitory, depending on whether the postsynaptic neuron is ...

For this, they used the zebrafish as an animal model.
They created genetically modified zebrafish by injecting the zygotes with the GFE3 construct that was
further modified to be expressed only in the spine.
Consistent with their earlier results, imaging techniques show the absence of the inhibitory proteins in
the spines of the zebrafish. Interestingly, they also found that zebrafish injected with GFE3 had
sharply reduced motor coordination described by poor tail flicking motions.
Perhaps most remarkably, however, is that the team was able to show that the effects of GFE3 were
reversible; something that other similar techniques do not have. The team did this by further
modifying GFE3 to be expressed only when the chemical dox is present.
When they removed dox, the team observed that GFE3 disappeared and the inhibitory proteins
returned.
This study represents one of the first few studies that have focused on a protein centric approach to
controlling neurons and synapses. According to Arnold, further studies could contribute to therapies
and drugs predicated on the ability to finely tune the brain. This is especially useful in diseases caused
by altered brain chemistry like schizophrenia and

The Two Fridas
In 1889, soon after her divorce from Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo produced the self portrait The Two
Fridas. This emotionally disturbing, surreal painting features two symmetrically composed women
seated on a sickly green bench. The holding of hands between the women emphasizes their unison. A
stormy sky of distressed grey clouds ominously consumes the background of the portrait. Cool tones
of color fill the frame to mimic the cold gazes of the women. The two Fridas, while otherwise
identical, employ diverging styles and anatomical features. A white, highly embellished dress adorns
the first Frida. Lace covers her shoulders and neck, and ruffles gather at the bottom of the dress. Her
hairstyle appears slightly more lavish than the other Frida. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These two artists expose their inner turmoil in response to personal tragedy. Kahlo utilizes symbolism,
human anatomy, and composition as tools to convey her emotions; in contrast, van Gogh utilizes
texture and color as tools to communicate his temperament. Kahlo implements a palette of cool colors
such as white, grey, blue, and green to heighten the condition of solemnity and despair. The viewer
observes these hues in the cool blue grey of the clouds as well as the cool tones used in the coloring of
the garments. On the other hand, van Gogh applies warmer colors and contrasting complementary
hues. In particular, the vivid green coat of the subject juxtaposes the blood red background directly
behind the subject. The clash of these varied hues enhances the sense of tension and anxiety of the
image. The use of color between these artists differs in order to portray their different

car crash and died. This was the turning point for the whole show because Derek was another main
character. The morning of his death date he stopped on his way to work and helped some people who
were in a car accident. He called the ambulance, and they got it taken care of.

Book Thief Book Report
The first thing most young readers will notice about the novel, The Book Thief, written by Markus
Zusak is its thickness. This book is made up of 550 compelling yet devastatingly sad pages. This book
may be hard to read for some people as it is a story about a young girl and her family during the time
of Nazi Germany. Although this is a sensitive topic for many, Markus found a way to creatively allow
it to be tolerable for everyone. The book is so intense that it is actually narrated by Death. I personally
did not pick up on this concept that Death was the narrator. I was actually told by a couple of friends,
and ended up appreciating that they had told me. This concept may be hard for less observant readers
to pick up on, but it is a big ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her thievery begins when she steals her first book at her brother s funeral shortly before she arrives at
the Hubermann s. The book is titled The Grave Digger s Handbook, fitting for a funeral. The thievery
would continue throughout the story, and she would learn to read and write because of them. Her love
for books helped her cope with her losses but sometimes sidetracked her in school. Books took
everything off of her mind. She would continue to steal books, and once she had built a relationship
with the mayor s wife, she capitalized on that as well, stealing from her library. Reading had built her
relationships, and had conforted her along with many other families and people on Himmel Street. In
times of terror, when the town was bombed, she began to read to the families in the bomb shelters.
This eventually benefitted her family when she is asked to read a weekly chapter to the neighbor Frau
Holtzapfel, and receiving coffee beans in return. Frau Holtzapfel is also dealing with a loss as one of
her sons who is in the army died in combat. Her love for reading seems to be what keeps her going
and helps her appreciate the new life she was given. Her thievery does go beyond books, as she and
her best friend Rudy (who actually has a crush on Liesel), join a thievery group that steals food. This
was a move of desperation for when times got really tough and food and money got tight. Her true
love for thievery was always and will always be connected to

Concert Jazz Report Essay

Jazz Concert Report The concert I decided to go to was held in Valley Brewing Company. The event
was called Take 5, Jazz at the Brew . I went to the show July 11, 2013. The group I saw didn t have a
name. It was just a group of people performing together. The concert hall was a very nice venue. It
was on an extended closed off area past the common area at the bar. The area was very dim lit and was
decorated very fancy and elaborate. The music that was played that night was Jazz. The group had 4
people in the group and they all came from different backgrounds. The Drummer was a young African
American male that was very talented. The trumpet player was a heavy set Caucasian male that looked

The song was called Funk Indeed Free . The texture to this song was very soft. Not all the instruments
were competing with each other like the last song. The song had some form to it aside from the
trumpet. The trumpet was very wild and had many different ranges. The melody was the same
throughout the song aside from the trumpet as well. There was a steady flow throughout the whole
song. The dynamic of the song was very calm and quiet aside from the trumpet. I didn t appreciate that
because it was so distracting. The tempo was at a mild pace. Not all the instruments were played
during this song. It was only 2 instruments played at a time during the whole time. The next song on
the playlist was called Everything Happens To Me . The texture to this was very soft as well. The
instruments were playing off each other but it was still a freestyle type of song. I think jazz is
generally played like freestyle. There was no melody to this song. The rhythm was not existent as
well. It was more of a free flowing song. This song had a very quiet dynamic. It sounded very
romantic like something out of a movie. The tempo of the song was very slow and mild but the
trumpet was going very fast. The cello and the drums had a portion of the song where they fed off
each other s energy and the trumpet was doing its own thing. The last song on the set list was called
Talk About It . The texture was very thick because all the instruments were playing over

Apple Behavior Analysis
There are several different research designs that are used frequently in Applied Behavior Analysis.
These different research designs are very helpful to the behavior analyst in several ways. Behavior
analysts look at the behavior that is to be changed, but more so, they look at the close relationship
between the stimuli and the behavior that is being changed, as well as the individual whose behavior is
being changed (Richards, Taylor, Ramassamy, Richards, 1999). These methods help the behavior
analyst determine whether a particular behavior plan is working well for that individual or whether it
needs to be modified. Since the analysts wish to encourage valuable behaviour, the behavior that is
being targeted will be one that will continue to be reinforced and maintained even after the
experimental conditions of the design are withdrawn (Richards, et al, 1999). One such design is the
changing criterion design. This design looks at and evaluates the effects of a treatment on the gradual
and systematic increase/decrease of a single target behavior (Richards, et al, 1999). This is done by
changing the levels necessary to meet contingencies to increase or decrease a behavior. So, the
intervention is shown to be effective when the target behavior changes to the predetermined criterion
level. There is a baseline phase where baseline data of the behavior to be changed is collected. Then
the intervention/treatment phase is divided into subphases, each with its own criterion

Case Study Bronfenbrenner s Model Of Child Development
Wellness paper
I chose Urie Bronfenbrenner s bioecological model of child development to reflect on my stages of
development. In the microsystem of Bronfenbrenner s model, my early childhood family structure
included my uncle, his wife and their five children. I went to live with my uncle after my mother
passed away. By middle childhood, my uncle and his wife migrated to the United Sates and I went to
live with one of his daughters( Erica) and her two children. They became my construct of what a
family represent. Although I was welcomed in Erica s family, I felt as if I did not belong in their
family. The only place I felt accepted was at school. The classroom represented a place where I
expressed my feelings without being ignored or judged by my peers. Also, I had very observant and
understanding teachers who had the best of my interest. I had one teacher , Mr. Francis, who believed
that I was capable of improving academically. At the end of his class, he noted in my report card that I
had potential to be academically competent, however, I needed to settle down and apply myself to
learning. His comments motivated me to do my best throughout elementary school. During elementary
school, I maintained healthy relationships with my peers. There were never any reports of misconduct
of any misunderstanding amongst my peers. In fact, interactions with them thought me how to engage
in fair play, wait my turn, build trust and explore my environment. In exploring my environment, I

Was Tsar Nicholas Emperor Unfit
Tsar Nicholas II of Russia: An Emperor Unfit to Rule Ravaged Russia At the end of the nineteenth
century, Tsar Nicholas II of Russia reluctantly took command of an empire overflowing with
revolutionaries who were seeking change in response to hardships that their nation was facing. His
timid personality, coupled with his lack of political education and military experience, made him unfit
to calm the war fueled chaos that would soon envelop Russia. Nicholas series of unfortunate,
unprepared and uninformed decisions began with his marriage and eventually ended with his decision
to abandon the capital to lead his armies, ultimately leading to the demise of his imperial family s
three hundred year dynastic tradition. The turn of the century illuminated Russia, commonly labeled
as backwards by the other European powers, as the last remaining European autocracy. Russian
society still operated on the estate system, which was characterized by an enormous gap between the
upper class nobility and the lower class peasantry. Peasants comprised eighty percent of the population
and only a fraction were educated. They had little understanding of government and were highly
patriarchal. Many served as serfs. It was not until the 1860s that these serfs were freed from legal
bondage by Nicholas grandfather, Alexander II. However, this was not enough to satisfy Russian
citizens newfound taste of freedom. In the years following, they demanded he establish an elected

End Of Conventional Oil As A Fuel Source
End of Conventional Oil
In our recent history, oil has been the driver of the global economy. The advance of modern industrial
civilizations was facilitated by cheap and abundant energy in form of fossil fuels. At present, oil
accounts for about 40% of the primary energy source and natural gas contributes 23%. This statistic
shows how much the world is dependent on oil. The dependence on oil is majorly in the industrial,
transportation, and agricultural sectors. The use of oil as a fuel source is seen to have increased by
around 50% over the last century. The energy needs have been observed in the daily activities of
industry, private life, and commerce. The supply of economical oil in the world is limited. Most of the

Approximately5 6 million people are employed by the global O G industry. A direct effect of the
future oil crisis will be on the employment level globally. Rising unemployment will be a knock on
effect of the collapse of this industry as many other support industries are dependent on this industry.
Oil producing and exporting industries will take the major hit. All other countries of the world will
also be hit hard due to our dependence on oil to run most of our industries. I expect the challenge of
finding meaningful employment to be even greater for me in the engineering sector. Some of the
engineers directly employed in the O G industry include civil engineers, petroleum engineers,
mechanical engineers, chemical engineers, industrial engineers, analysts and traders, and oil drillers.
The combination of rising unemployment and rising cost of living will lead to increased recession and
higher poverty levels. A crisis in the oil industry eventually leads recessionary effects. Recessionary
effect in turn lead to a vicious cycle of poverty, starvation, and bankruptcy. Agricultural industries are
highly dependent on the cheap energy provided by crude oil. Lower agricultural productivity due to
effects of the oil crisis and higher energy costs will make food prices higher. The world may face more
serious hunger and famine problems. We will observe effects of bankruptcy and poverty due to bad
debts

The Sport Of Soccer And Football
Today, there are many popular sport which involved players getting injured during the game. The most
talked about sport of all time are soccer and football. They are the number one sport in the world.
They are both loved by people around the world and everybody enjoy every minute of watching the
player play the sports. The problem is that the player always seem to get injured from this sport but
the cause of their injured are different from each other. Between soccer and football, the most common
injuries are knee and ankle injured. Soccer players often get injured more often than football players,
whenever they are on the field. In between this two sport, it seems like someone always get injured
whenever the event is held.
First, the cause of the injured between soccer and football different from each other. Both the soccer
and football player would twist their ankle and hurt their knee during the game. For soccer players, the
cause of their injured are running and kicking the ball all over the field and sometimes twist their
ankle while running. Sometimes for soccer players while they have the ball the other team would sly
kick the ball and miss; but when that person missed, the sly kick would hit the other player knee or
ankle and it would result in the other person getting injured. However for football players, the only
way to get injured is they would have to be tackle down by other players; if they want to get injured.
Their chance of getting injured are very low

Anger And Forgiveness In The Film Smoke Signals
In the film Smoke Signals written by Sherman Alexie, anger and forgiveness play a major part in the
lives of the Native Americans who live in the Coeur d Alene Indian Reservation. Forgiving oneself or
forgiving others proves to be a hard battle to conquer. As you view throughout the movie the changes
that take place in each character, think about yourself and what feats you have overcome with anger
and forgiveness. The main characters in the film include Arnold Joseph, Victor Joseph, Thomas Builds
the fire, and Suzy Song. There are multiple areas within the film where offering forgiveness would
hold the key to finding inner peace, the question is do any of the characters actually reach inner peace?
Arnold Joseph battles within his own conscience throughout the film and it isn t obvious whether he
ever forgives himself for what he did. Victor Joseph goes through life with a lot of anger towards his
father, Arnold. He struggles to forgive him for abandoning him as a child, for his alcoholism, and the
physical abuse him and his mother were subjected to. Victor also shows anger towards Thomas Builds
the fire because of their differing views of Arnold Joseph. The only one who doesn t express anger and
is very forgiving is Thomas Builds the fire. He of all people has a right to be angry, after all, he has
lost the most at the hands of another, whether on purpose or by accident. But, he goes through life as a
happy go lucky person, an imaginative storyteller, and above all a caring individual to others.
Interesting enough, the character who changes the most as the movie goes on is Victor Joseph. It isn t
easy for him to forgive, but, as he grows as a person and learns the truth about his fathers actions he
eventually finds peace.
The setting for the majority of the movie takes place at the Coeur d Alene Indian Reservation in Idaho,
but changes when Thomas and Victor travel together to Arizona later in the movie. The movie begins
on July 4th, 1976 and sets the initial conflict early on. It quickly advances to 1998 when the boys are
grown, but, shows excerpts from the past throughout the movie as they reminisced. The Reservation is
portrayed well, showing how Native American societies lived and

I Love Lucy Stereotypes
A sitcom is a situational comedy, which is when the same setting and same characters appear in every
episode. In terms of sitcoms much has changed between time and a good example of that is, I Love
Lucy and The Simpsons. I Love Lucy first premiered in 1951 and for television viewers of the fifties;
Lucy and Ricky could have been well known neighbors from down the street. Many people are able
relate to this young couple, the Ricardo s, who were experiencing the hard times and trails of marriage
as typical Americans were. They lived in a brownstone in Manhattan with common struggles such as
paying the rent and affording household materials. The humor and jokes came along when ordinary
situations were amplified as Lucy managed to get herself into trouble time and time again, and ...

The Simpsons introduces us to their main characters as stereotypes. As an example, in an opening
sequence we see Homer at work, which is what a stereotypical father s role is. We are also shown
Homer going against the stereotype because he takes radioactive waste with him showing proof that
he is incautious. Also, Marge is shown shopping and taking care of the baby Maggie. Marge is the
perfect example of a stereotypical mother, in the sense that she is playing a role of a housewife and
takes care of the house. On the other hand, Marge frequently goes against the stereotype because she
appears to be the authority figure of the family and this is what the man of the house is supposed to
do. The Simpsons show contains parody pieces of truth that are magnified to absurdity. As you can see
sitcoms today reflect reality, in other words television now contains more pieces of truth than it did
before. The problem is that most of today s sitcoms are so busy enhancing the dysfunctional aspects of
society in an attempt to be realistic that they often miss the

Sexual Selection Is A Powerful Evolutionary Process
Mate selection
Sexual Selection is a powerful evolutionary process, for those unable to attract or gain access to the
opposite sex, risk being eliminated from the population (Apostolou). The theory of sexual selection
was introduced by Charles Darwin in his book The Descent of Man, in which he explains, that
selecting a mate is not a random process, and it is key to evolution, for it depends on which
individuals have advantage over the rest of the same specie (Stanford 99). In sexual selection, males
compete between one another to gain access to a mate, and females choose particular promising mates
that demonstrate trait variability, so that their future offspring will have a higher chance of survival
(Stanford 99). Male individuals have to demonstrate power, who can conquer the most, ability to
survive and provide protection, among other characteristics that will make him the right mate for a
female. And Females, must consider their options, since they want high quality genes for their future
children (Angeloni 77). Therefore, as a female, I am seeking for specific characteristics in a mate,
such as a lean body build, healthy white teeth, and height he must be over 5 6. I seek for those traits in
a mate to further add trait variability in my future offspring, which will help adapt, live longer, and
reproduce in the future.
Females are the choosing sex, for they are usually the ones who invest more in their offspring from the
birth to the nurturing (Stanford 100). Second,

Agile And Agile Software Development
Agile Agile software development refers to a group of software development methodologies e.g.
Dynamics System Development Model, Crystal Methods and Extreme programming (XP
methodology). Agile methods attempt to minimise the risk in software in short time boxes called
iterations. Every iteration includes all the tasks necessary to release the mini increment of new
functionality: planning, requirements analysis, design coding, testing and documentation. At the end
of every iteration the priorities will be evaluated. Agile methods emphasise real time communication,
preferably face to face instead of written documents. Agile methods also emphasise working software
as the primary measure of progress. Agile methods produce very little documentation compared to
other methods. Most Agile teams are located in a bullpen and include all the people necessary to finish
the software. (1) (3) Crystal Methodology Crystal Methodology is one of the most lightweight and
adaptable approaches to software development which focuses on people, interaction, community,
skills and talents and communications. Crystal is actually made up of a family of agile methodologies
such as Crystal Clear, Crystal Yellow, Crystal Orange and others. This refers to the underlining core
which represents values and principals. The principal is that each team has a different set of talents
and skills and each team should use a process uniquely tailored to it. (1) Dynamic Systems

Most Influential Jazz Singer, Billie Holiday
Billie Holiday The Harlem Renaissance was an African American cultural movement specifically in
creative arts such as music and literature. Jazz represented the flavor and zest of African American
culture in the 1920s 1940s. Billie Holiday had a great impact on the Harlem Renaissance because she
was one of the most influential jazz singers of all time. She performed with other great jazz musicians
such as Louis Armstrong, Teddy Wilson, Jo Jones, and Henry Allen. Her career as a jazz singer was an
incredible and thriving one, however, it was shortened because of her battle of substance abuse.
Despite the drug use and the loss of her mother, the only thing she could turn to was her music. Billie
Holiday s legacy will always live on when the discussion of the Harlem Renaissance is present. Billie
Holiday was born on April 7, 1915 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania under her birth name, Eleanora
Fagan. Billie Holiday was an American jazz singer, from the 1930s to the 50s. All her life she lived
with her mother because she did not know her biological father. She grew up in Baltimore, Maryland
until her mother, Sadie Fagan, decided to move to New York in search of a better job. In New York,
Holiday found a job at a Harlem nightclub. This job will encourage her to pursue a career in music and
go on tour with other great artists. She borrowed her professional stage name from her favorite screen
star, Billie Dove. Holiday s career started off on a good note by performing at jazz

Onna Daigaku Women
Women during the Tokugawa period were expected to be good Confucian wives and were restricted in
many aspects of their life. Although multiple expectations were bent in real life situations. In Onna
Daigaku, Kaibara Ekiken writes on how a woman should and should not act in public. He also writes
several different reasons why a woman should be divorced. This primary source is important in
understanding what was expected out of women during this period and helps us apply it to other
readings. An example of how one can apply the Onna Daigaku to The Doctor s Wife is the way Otsugi
acts repeatedly throughout the book. The Onna Daigaku states The five worst infirmities that afflict
the female are indocility, discontent, slander, jealously, and silliness. One of the bigger issues that
Otsugi has in becoming a good Confucian wife is that she bears a lot of jealousy and discontent with
her daughter in law Kae. At first, Otsugi was pleasant towards Kae and even stated how the two must
have been mother and daughter in a past life; but once Seishu comes back from Kyoto, Otsugi
becomes very critical of Kae and does not allow the daughter in law near her precious son. Also, the
reader gets an underlying sexual vibe from Otsugi towards her son. But whenever Seishu pinched his
wife s thigh to test the anesthetic, feelings of jealously raged within her and, at these moments she
hated Kae sufficiently to wish for her death. At one point of the book, Otsugi gets even more enraged

The era of modern computers, however, began with the analytical engine of Charles Babbage. Cyber crime is an evil having its origin in the growing dependence on computers in modern life. In a day and age when everything from microwave ovens and refrigerators to nuclear power plants is being run on computers, cyber crime has assumed rather sinister implications. It seemed as if the foreclosures/short sales were increasing and the American dream of buying a home was decreasing. Many people felt hopeless and cheated when it came to the economy s poor status due to the housing crash. Many lessons were learned from the collapse and although it may seem hard to believe, there were silver linings in the mistakes made during the mortgage meltdown. Today, real estate buyers are benefiting from the past mistakes and have more confidence in their home buying purchases. The bad times endured came with a slew of lessons that were learned. If you are financed for a higher dollar amount than expected, do not automatically increase your new home price search on this number. Learn from homebuyers during the market boom those who were financed for a higher amount than they could financially keep up with. Learn about interest rates and adjustable mortgages. Learn about taxes and homeowner s insurance. Learn what you can truly afford and all of the costs that go into having a home not just the principal mortgage payment. The third lesson stems from the second lesson in regards to interest rates. Personally, I have never heard of adjustable interest rates until the housing boom. I heard people gasping over their new monthly mortgage payment that quadrupled once their first year or so of payments were up. Learn what fixed rate mortgages are and what adjustable rate mortgages are. Adjustable rate mortgages appealed to those who wanted the lowest possible interest rates and expected to be able to either sell their homes or refinance them before their payments ballooned. Once their expectations didn t pan out, they were stuck with an outrageously high interest rate. Do not blindly sign a 30 year contract; understand your payments and agreements you have with your lender and expect to stick with it long term. If it is too good to be true, it probably is. • 8. The Pregnancy Of The Fetal Heart Rate As technology progresses, it has become more important in our daily lives. Obstetricians and hospital s rely on technology more than ever to flag potential problems during pregnancy, labor, and delivery (1). Continuous recording of the fetal heart rate come into being in the 1970 s and is likely a big contributor to the increase in Caesarean sections(1). Continuous monitoring allows doctors to make a decision on what birthing method should be used: natural birth or caesarean. The benefits of natural birth outweigh the risks of a Caesarean section to mother and baby. Pregnancy occurs when a sperm and egg unite, this is called conception. A zygote is created, in one week the zygote attaches itself on the uterine wall, and in two weeks becomes an embryo. Week 10 of pregnancy the embryo turns into a fetus. The fetus develops more and more for 28 weeks. Around 39 40 weeks, a woman can go into labor. Labor is when the mother starts having contractions, and the baby s head starts dropping into the cervix. The cervix dilates and thins out. As the cervix is fully dilated at 10 centimeters the mother beings pushing. Vaginal birth entails less discomfort after delivery (9). Vaginal birth babies can go home with their babies sooner (9). Vaginal births take roughly one or two weeks for recovery (1). During natural birth the baby gets a squeeze. This forces mucus and fluid out of the baby s airway. With the Caesarean, the baby does not get the beneficial squeeze like vaginal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Discuss this statement and show how a behaviourist s approach to therapy is in stark contrast to a psychoanalytic one In this essay I will first of all explain the main principles and theories that underpin the behaviourist approach to psychology. I will subsequently outline how behaviourist theory can provide therapists with some insight into both the causes of maladaptive behaviour and how that behaviour might be sustained and maintained. Having discussed the main behaviourist principles and how they relate to maladaptive behaviour, I will then compare and contrast the behavioural approach with the psychoanalytic (Freudian) ... Behaviourists like Skinner believed that the principles involved in these learning processes were applicable to people and underpin complex human behaviour. Skinner proposed that behaviour changes as a result of its consequences and that behaviour is also reinforced by reward. Behaviour that is reinforced will also increase in frequency Skinner suggested. Similarly, he argued, negative reinforcement works in the same way as positive re inforcement. For example, if a loud noise is made every time a rat pokes its nose through its cage, the rat would stop doing it. He promoted the idea that as humans are just another species, giving praise for desirable behaviour in a child would reinforce that behaviour in the same way that getting food by pressing a lever in a box would reinforce behaviour in a rat. Skinner went further by suggesting that there is no such thing as free will; he called it the principle of determinism, the assertion that all human behaviour is determined by what went before. Skinner s hypotheses created widespread debate amongst psychologists and not surprisingly, his critics pointed out that humans are very different to animals and that results from experiments conducted on rats in a laboratory couldn t just be applied to human behaviour. The Palette Of Narmer dates back to the Hierakonpolis Dynasty 1 in 3100 BCE. The Palette of Narmer is interesting because it is the oldest historic work of art that names a person, and is the earliest piece of art that uses hieroglyph. Many scholars believe that palettes decorated with animals, birds, and human figures had some sort of ceremonial function. On the palette, Narmer s name appears in pictographs a horizontal fish translated Nar and a vertical chisel translated Mer. These hieroglyphs appear three times on this piece of art. The king appears as the main character in various scenes on both sides of the palette, he also appears in hierachical proportion representing the status of individuals in a highly stratified society. The significance of the ruler appearing larger than other human figures indicates importance and divine status. On one side of the palette Narmer appears with the White Crown of Upper Egypt signifying that it has been tamed. On the opposite side he wears the Red Crown of Lower Egypt signifying that it also had been tamed. These images amongst other images of conquest proclaim him to be the great unifier, protector, and leader of the Egyptian people. The statue of Apollo is made of painted Terra cotta, which is also known as baked clay. It is the same material used for pottery containers. It stands at a height of five feet ten inches, and is recognized by the statues archaic smile, well developed massive body, quick stride, and expressive power. One of the main purpose of any type of sugar is to act as sweeteners, therefore they are found in many kitchens throughout the world. Sugar also plays a huge part in reactions occurring, since it assists in important chemical reactions that take place whist cooking and/or baking. Sugar has the ability to act as a solute in many solutions, for example they have the ability to dissolve in water, therefore they are soluble. This is because when sugar is placed in water, the sucrose molecule start breaking from the sugar crystal, and begin to immediately get surrounded by water molecules, and eventually bond with the water molecules. The fact that the negative and positive areas on the sucrose molecules attract the polar water molecules, is also why sugar dissolves in water. Therefore in theory, the larger the amount(mass) of sugar placed in water, the longer the sugar should take to dissolve completely, since there would be more sucrose molecules to bond with the water molecules. The concept of brown sugar dissolving in water is relevant to real life, due to the fact that this solution is constantly created by numerous people as a part of their daily ... (). Although many Chinese practices and customs were banned to Christians, not every tradition or custom was considered heathen to the Catholic church. Pope Clement XI stated that the Chinese customs in managing households and governments should not be interfered with. Only Chinese customs and traditions that did not contradict with Catholic beliefs could be practiced by Christians. If any of the traditions or customs became contradictory, they were not tolerated under any circumstance. Because of Pope Clement s decree, the Kangxi emperor became very angry and banned Christian missionaries in China. In 1721, the Decree of Kangxi was published and this document expressed the emperor s anger. Reading this proclamation, I have concluded that the Westerners are petty indeed. • 16. Single Shot Essay A single shot. A single shot is all it takes to freeze time, and create a standstill that will last for generations. A single shot can transport people to a point in time, to let them remember an occasion that they may have otherwise forgotten; not because it is unimportant, but rather in the scheme of life sometimes the small moments may go unnoticed. The brain continues to amaze people day by day the fact that an object so easily created, and so easily destroyed. It can resurface every emotion that was present in that moment: in the ice age of time. By looking at photography s emotional impact, one can see the effect on people s perspective on life and the world; this is important because it brings attention to the exclusivity of pictures, image use in news events, and the personal memoirs that they create. A picture cannot be measured in words, money, or tangible objects, it is a priceless piece of a person s history. Nothing in the world compares to a photograph, an authentic view into the past that is only accessible through the lens of a camera. Drawings and paintings are tweaked by an artist s bias on how they remember a moment, videos take away interpretation, which can keep people from thinking, and cause them to only focus on watching. Snapshots are the only representation that exist in the world that isolate a moment in time and let the mind wander back to the time when it took place. • 18. Gfe3 Synthesis In a recent study, researchers report a novel and easy way to hijack the brain s natural processes. This technique, which involves the fusion protein GFE3, interferes with the inhibitory synapses between neurons resulting in an overall rise in the brain s electrical activity. The team, led by Don B. Arnold, professor of biological sciences at the University of Southern California, used GFE3 which is a fusion of two proteins: E3 ligase, which degrades proteins; and FingR, which recognizes and binds to proteins in inhibitory synapses. Arnold explains: Rather than a cell deciding when a protein needs to be degraded, we sort of hijack the process. Synapses can either be excitatory or inhibitory, depending on whether the postsynaptic neuron is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For this, they used the zebrafish as an animal model. They created genetically modified zebrafish by injecting the zygotes with the GFE3 construct that was further modified to be expressed only in the spine. Consistent with their earlier results, imaging techniques show the absence of the inhibitory proteins in the spines of the zebrafish. Interestingly, they also found that zebrafish injected with GFE3 had sharply reduced motor coordination described by poor tail flicking motions. Perhaps most remarkably, however, is that the team was able to show that the effects of GFE3 were reversible; something that other similar techniques do not have. The team did this by further modifying GFE3 to be expressed only when the chemical dox is present. When they removed dox, the team observed that GFE3 disappeared and the inhibitory proteins returned. This study represents one of the first few studies that have focused on a protein centric approach to controlling neurons and synapses. According to Arnold, further studies could contribute to therapies and drugs predicated on the ability to finely tune the brain. This is especially useful in diseases caused by altered brain chemistry like schizophrenia and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This emotionally disturbing, surreal painting features two symmetrically composed women seated on a sickly green bench. The holding of hands between the women emphasizes their unison. A stormy sky of distressed grey clouds ominously consumes the background of the portrait. Cool tones of color fill the frame to mimic the cold gazes of the women. The two Fridas, while otherwise identical, employ diverging styles and anatomical features. A white, highly embellished dress adorns the first Frida. The viewer observes these hues in the cool blue grey of the clouds as well as the cool tones used in the coloring of the garments. • 24. Apple Behavior Analysis There are several different research designs that are used frequently in Applied Behavior Analysis. These different research designs are very helpful to the behavior analyst in several ways. Behavior analysts look at the behavior that is to be changed, but more so, they look at the close relationship between the stimuli and the behavior that is being changed, as well as the individual whose behavior is being changed (Richards, Taylor, Ramassamy, Richards, 1999). These methods help the behavior analyst determine whether a particular behavior plan is working well for that individual or whether it needs to be modified. Since the analysts wish to encourage valuable behaviour, the behavior that is being targeted will be one that will continue to be reinforced and maintained even after the experimental conditions of the design are withdrawn (Richards, et al, 1999). One such design is the changing criterion design. This design looks at and evaluates the effects of a treatment on the gradual and systematic increase/decrease of a single target behavior (Richards, et al, 1999). This is done by changing the levels necessary to meet contingencies to increase or decrease a behavior. So, the intervention is shown to be effective when the target behavior changes to the predetermined criterion level. There is a baseline phase where baseline data of the behavior to be changed is collected. Then the intervention/treatment phase is divided into subphases, each with its own criterion ... Anger And Forgiveness In The Film Smoke Signals In the film Smoke Signals written by Sherman Alexie, anger and forgiveness play a major part in the lives of the Native Americans who live in the Coeur d Alene Indian Reservation. Forgiving oneself or forgiving others proves to be a hard battle to conquer. As you view throughout the movie the changes that take place in each character, think about yourself and what feats you have overcome with anger and forgiveness. The main characters in the film include Arnold Joseph, Victor Joseph, Thomas Builds the fire, and Suzy Song. There are multiple areas within the film where offering forgiveness would hold the key to finding inner peace, the question is do any of the characters actually reach inner peace? Arnold Joseph battles within his own conscience throughout the film and it isn t obvious whether he ever forgives himself for what he did. Victor Joseph goes through life with a lot of anger towards his father, Arnold. He struggles to forgive him for abandoning him as a child, for his alcoholism, and the physical abuse him and his mother were subjected to. Victor also shows anger towards Thomas Builds the fire because of their differing views of Arnold Joseph. The only one who doesn t express anger and is very forgiving is Thomas Builds the fire. He of all people has a right to be angry, after all, he has lost the most at the hands of another, whether on purpose or by accident. But, he goes through life as a happy go lucky person, an imaginative storyteller, and above all a caring individual to others. Interesting enough, the character who changes the most as the movie goes on is Victor Joseph. It isn t easy for him to forgive, but, as he grows as a person and learns the truth about his fathers actions he eventually finds peace. The setting for the majority of the movie takes place at the Coeur d Alene Indian Reservation in Idaho, but changes when Thomas and Victor travel together to Arizona later in the movie. The movie begins on July 4th, 1976 and sets the initial conflict early on. Sexual Selection Is A Powerful Evolutionary Process Mate selection Sexual Selection is a powerful evolutionary process, for those unable to attract or gain access to the opposite sex, risk being eliminated from the population (Apostolou). The theory of sexual selection was introduced by Charles Darwin in his book The Descent of Man, in which he explains, that selecting a mate is not a random process, and it is key to evolution, for it depends on which individuals have advantage over the rest of the same specie (Stanford 99). In sexual selection, males compete between one another to gain access to a mate, and females choose particular promising mates that demonstrate trait variability, so that their future offspring will have a higher chance of survival (Stanford 99). Male individuals have to demonstrate power, who can conquer the most, ability to survive and provide protection, among other characteristics that will make him the right mate for a female. And Females, must consider their options, since they want high quality genes for their future children (Angeloni 77). Therefore, as a female, I am seeking for specific characteristics in a mate, such as a lean body build, healthy white teeth, and height he must be over 5 6. I seek for those traits in a mate to further add trait variability in my future offspring, which will help adapt, live longer, and reproduce in the future. At the end of every iteration the priorities will be evaluated. Agile methods emphasise real time communication, preferably face to face instead of written documents. Agile methods also emphasise working software as the primary measure of progress. Agile methods produce very little documentation compared to other methods.
