Just-in-Time Supply Chain Managment Systems and Chrysler Auto
In the article, Chrysler Averts a Parts Crisis, by Jeffrey Ball, in the Wall Street Journal, readers get a
small glimpse of how major businesses utilize just in time systems and how they may be impacted
during a national crisis such as September 11th. Just in time is getting the right quantity of goods to
the right place exactly at the right time. The goal is to get products at a certain place not too early and
not too late, instead, just in time.(1) Just in time systems is an inventory strategy that is relatively
simple to explain and understand. In order to fully understand just in time systems we must thoroughly
define it and answer a couple key questions. First, how does a just in time system minimize
warehousing costs? Second, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
JIT minimizes quality problems that can result when parts sit around for a long time. JIT stresses the
importance of minimizing waste. A company that uses JIT is from the school of though of feeling like
they have a need for continuous improvement. The JIT viewpoint on improvement is if it s not perfect,
make it better instead of it s good enough. JIT minimizes quality problems by using pull quick setups
and small lots and by using flexible resources and efficient facility layouts. If parts aren t sitting
around wasting space and money then there is less of a chance for the parts to go bad. JIT systems
depend heavily on transportation networks. Everything from trucks, boats, and planes help to deliver
time sensitive parts to factories that use JIT. In the article, Chrysler Averts a Parts Crisis, it exposed
how sensitive a JIT operation can be to a disrupted transportation network. On September 11th and the
days following, airplanes were grounded and trucks were stuck in eighteen hour lines at U.S. border
crossings. Since, in just in time systems, manufacturing parts are delivered to assembly plants a few
times throughout the day in small batches, instead of less frequent deliveries in huge piles that require
warehousing, this effected assembly lines and auto plants very badly. The JIT system works to
minimize warehousing costs as well as quality problems

Article Review On Donald Trump
Among the websites that were listed for us to examine were some that focused on certain topics such
as the salaries of our congressmen and the happenings of the US treasury, and others that were broad
and covered many topics. I found myself spending more time on these websites that covered many
topics. The Daily Caller is one of these broad websites that featured the current events in politics, the
international community, entertainment, sports and business. The political section on the Daily Caller
seems to favor a more conservative stance, but is by no means a conservative website. Donald Trump
of course was making news, with his words that were directed to North Korea during his speech at an
airbase in Japan. These soldiers in Japan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People have been pushing for a more background checks and calling for convicted domestic abusers to
not be allowed guns. The Daily Caller reported that there is in fact already such a law in place. In 1996
there was a federal law passed that prohibits people who have been charged with domestic violence
from purchasing or possessing guns. In 2016 the Supreme Court upheld this law. Gun control is a
touchy subject, and I personally feel that the laws that the government enacts can always be
circumvented. For example, this Devin Kelley should never have been allowed to buy a gun, and yet
he did. The increase in recent years of mass shootings is not due to a more readily available supply of
guns and ammo or laxer laws, rather it is the people. These nut jobs are the crux of the problem, and I
don t have a solution to fail safely prevent mentally disturbed persons from acquiring guns. That being
said, I do think that laws are effective, although not foal proof. I m confident that there has been
several shooting prevented by denying certain persons guns, and that s why I m for gun control laws.
While the world section of the Daily Caller covers many avenues of new, a large portion of it seems to
be focused on conflicts in the international community. North Korea is suffering under the heaviest
sanctions that have been placed on them. A former North Korean financial official has stated that he is
unsure if North Korea will be able to survive

Bananas. The one item every minion wants. These adorable, yellow, Tic Tac like creatures depicted in
the hit movies Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2, and Minions work hard and don t expect much in
return.Their work ethic has received praise from esteemed figures such as Barack Obama, who says
that minions stand for every ideal that America was built on (Kevin 53). The problem is that minions
only work for villains with nefarious plans of taking over the world. In American society, studies
found that 99% of the people feel like henchmen to the biggest companies in all sectors of society,
from Walmart to Wall Street (Bob 17). The relationship between the minions and villains bears many
similarities to the modern economic and political system of America. The Despicable Me movie
franchise is a comprehensive representation of capitalism in America. In the Despicable Me movies,
there are many more minions than villains; however, the minions have significantly less power. This
represents how the richest CEOs of America are greatly outnumbered by the general population, yet

Nike generic strategy for competitive advantage emphasizes product mix diversity. Nike
analyzes what products should be handled and what characteristics should meet to aim success.
When applying a competitive strategy, the product plays a role as a link between supply and
demand, so the success is determined by the ability of the company to overtake the competition
and of course, by the quality of the product from the client s perspective. Nike adapts their
products to different markets, striving for diversity and reaching all kind of consumers. To keep

Sustainability and Organic Foods Essay
Sustainability and Organic Foods
People nowadays are getting into the go green lifestyle while others continue to live without thinking
about the effects they have on the environment. Why do people go green? It can save you money, it is
the right thing to do, it is healthier because there are less toxins and less illness, it is helping future
generations, and it is a chance to connect with the local community and spread the word. To go along
with this lifestyle and its benefits, catering companies are pushing to become more environmentally
sustainable and have more local and organic food options. Although everyone is experiencing this
push, it can be easier or more difficult depending on the position each caterer is in currently. ... Show

Un served food products would be donated to local charities and fryer grease would be collected and
recycled (Shock, 2011, p. 134). I could maybe consider solar panels or reducing the use of paper by
having reusable menus for example. Becoming more sustainable and having healthier and fresher
options comes with a price. Depending on how much you want to change can affect the financial
impact, but generally more efficient equipment and organic foods are more expensive. So generally if
you are eventually upgrade the building, appliances, and food options to be eco friendly and organic
the financial impact will be large but also positive because overtime you should be making your
money back and more as well as helping the environment. Organic and local foods always come at a
higher price because they are naturally grown rather than artificially with chemicals at a faster rate.
Organic farmers work hard to grow their foods naturally at a much slower pace so they need to
increase their prices to make it worthwhile. If a catering company is buying more expensive foods, it
impacts the prices on the menu and causes them to rise so they can still make profit. These days I
believe a company can still be competitive with higher prices because many people are looking for on
premise caterers who offer these healthier options. Many people are worried about the increasing
obesity rates and staying healthy so they are willing to pay more for those options. Like stated

What Is The Essence Of Christian Worldview
When it comes to defining what is the true essence of the Christian worldview, it must be noted that
there is not a single point of which serves as the essence but rather the essence of Christianity comes
from many of its key points. The first point that serves as part of the foundation that creates the
essence of the Christian worldview would be the belief in God s existence. This may seem quite
obvious since one of the key tenets of any theistic worldview is the belief a higher power but this
should not be overlooked since it is an extremely vital part. Such a belief in a higher power is
extremely important since it creates a worldview that is extremely different from those within the
Atheistic family. This is because the assumption that

Austria, where Sigmund Freud and Alfred Alder also grew up (Klingberg, 2014). He was the middle
child out of three children. His older brother, Walter was two and a half years older, and his younger
sister, Stella, was four years younger. His mother was Elsa Frankl, was a polish woman from Prague
with a gentle manner. His father, Gabriel Frankl, had been a hard working man who was the Director
of Social Affairs (Redsand, 2006). By the time Frankl was four years old he knew he wanted to be a

encourages one to image themselves pushing into their fear rather than running from it, such as a
patient suffering from insomnia (Pg.112, Frankl, 2006). Instead of focusing on falling asleep the
patient would be asked to focus very hard on staying awake. The success of the paradoxical intention
is called dereflection, which is when the patient is focused back on the task. He met his wife, Tilly
Grossner, a nurse at the hospital, and they were married in 1941, and she was pregnant shortly after. In
1942 he was granted a visa to the United States, which would get him safely away from the
concentration camps; however the visa was only good for him. He went to his father who had a block
of marble from the ruins of a burned down synagogue. The marble had an etching of part of one of the
Ten Commandments, which Viktor inquired about. The marble represented the commandment Honor
thy father and mother that thy days may be long upon the land. (Pg.11, Frankl, 2006). Upon hearing
this Viktor decided to stay with his family. The Nazis had forced Tilly to have an abortion as Jews

Analysis Of Ethical Decision And Scandal
Analysis of ethical reaction to scandal Introduction The reputation of an organization is crucial.
Therefore, being a leader of an organization has to be able to react efficiently and effectively when
there is a threat to organization s reputation. Occasionally, a leader has to face a dilemma, whereby
one has to decide how to deal with the scandals in the organizations. On one hand, some organizations
treat their customers as a mean to gather the profits. On the other hand, other organizations regard
their customers as an end, whereby the organizations really consider about customers interests as an
ultimate goal of their services. Nonetheless, only the companies that mad the ethical actions survived.
Lacking a focus on the welfare of their customers, some propaganda techniques, aiming to cover up
the scandals, usually don t work well. Instead, successful public relationship management techniques
generally treat their customers welfare as an end not just a mean. For example, a successful crisis
management usually contains the honesty and quick reaction. Enron Corporation is a great example to
illustrate how damaging it is if company leaders try to hide up the scandals and lie to the public. From
Kant s perspective, customers, who are human beings objected to the service provided by
organizations, should be treated with dignity, as every rational being exists as an end in himself and
not merely as a means to be arbitrarily used by this or that will (Kant 428). Indeed,

substances within the ancient Maya civilization.
How and why did the Maya use these hallucinogenic substances?
What hallucinogens Did the Maya use?
What hallucinogenic substances were available in the Maya region or via trade routes? The following
substances are the most widely documented substances used by the ancient Maya. Drugs, drinks, and
ritual enemas were used all across the Maya region. Using or mixing different psychoactive plants
with intoxicating preparations was also a common practice. Consumption of many of these substances
dates back to the Olmec era (1200 400 BCE). But there is limited evidence to support this. However,

Essay on Beethoven
Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany, in 1770. He came from a family of musicians.
His father and grandfather worked for the Electors of Cologne. The grandfather, Lodewyk van
Beethoven came from Mechelen, Belgium and joined the court orchestra in Bonn as a bass player. He
eventually became the conductor. His son Johann was a professional tenor at the court in Bonn and
also played piano and violin. As Beethoven began to exhibited his outstanding musical talent at a
young age, his father pushed for him to become a child prodigy. Johann gradually gave up when
Beethoven s recitals were only marginally successful. Beethoven s mother then died when he was in

movement to his ninth symphony he was very uncertain as to how to introduce the voice. ... there are
reports of him striding up and down his room trying to solve this problem ( Pike 70). Although some
of the ideas used in the Ninth Symphony appear in sketches of 1817 18, Beethoven only began
concentrated work on the score in 1822. It occupied him throughout 1823, and he completed it in
February 1824. The first performance took place at the Karntnerthor Theater in Vienna on May 7,

Why is Hubel and Wiesel s Description of the Classical...
The ultimate goal for a system of visual perception is representing visual scenes. It is generally
assumed that this requires an initial break down of complex visual stimuli into some kind of discrete
subunits (De Valois De Valois, 1980, p.316) which can then be passed on and further processed by the
brain. The task thus arises of identifying these subunits as well as the means by which the visual
system interprets and processes sensory input. An approach to visual scene analysis that prevailed for
many years was that of individual cortical cells being feature detectors with particular response
criteria. Though not self proclaimed, Hubel and Wiesel s theory of a hierarchical visual system
employs a form of such feature detectors. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Applying this notion to mammalian vision is however problematic; humans for example, are capable
of visually perceiving greater detail and variety than a frog and would thus require considerably more
of these uniquely coded feature detectors. The notion of a grandmother cell was thus introduced to
highlight the entailment of such a theory; if every unique stimulus requires its own feature detector
cell, an absurdly high number of neurons would be required for humans to represent the vast variety of
visual scenes encountered in a lifetime.
Aware of this shortcoming, Hubel and Wiesel (1962,1965,1968) were cautious not refer to feature
detectors when examining the receptive fields of the mammalian visual cortex of live cats (Hubel
Wiesel, 1962) and monkeys (Hubel Wiesel, 1968). Nonetheless, it is now widely accepted that Hubel
and Wiesel s theory of simple, complex and hyper complex cells remains a form of the original feature
detector theory, albeit formulated into a more economical hierarchical structure. (Lennie, 2003;
Martin, 1994) Hubel and Wiesel (962, 1965) concluded that vision involved a hierarchical process
starting in the retina, continuing through the lateral geniculate body, the primary visual cortex and
possibly even into areas V2 and V3. As sensory information travels further up the hierarchy, it passes
through progressively higher order cells that become increasingly

Pope Vs. Illinois Case Study
For this weeks discussion post I chose the Supreme Court case of Pope v. Illinois (1987). This case has
several values that make it significant in the field of obscenity and the First Amendment. Referring
back to Miller v. California and how it set the standard for identifying obscene material not protected
by the First Amendment, some portions are a bit more obscure than others. Take the third or value
prong of the three part test to determine whether the work, taken as a whole, lacks serious literary,
artistic, political, or scientific value. Prior to this case it was unclear how to exactly assess whether a
work lacked serious literary, artistic, political or scientific value, but when two attendants at adult
bookstores were charged with obscenity under Illinois law by selling certain magazines to undercover
police, they moved to dismiss on grounds that the then current version of the Illinois obscenity statute
violated the First and Fourteenth Amendments. The judge in both trials instructed the jury that in ...

be considered a valid restriction of speech under Illinois state law because they claim it unnecessary
and of no interest for the general public, or community standard, to perches the magazines. The irony
in it all is that the Supreme Court overturned the initial ruling that the community standard was
inappropriate for determining whether a work had value . Another twist is that this is considered
symbolic speech as the clerks are expressing their political opinions of freedom of speech by selling
what would be considered obscene

benefits to the industry by cost effectiveness, empowering a mobile workforce, plant security with

always offered free and simple access to application upgrades from their websites (4). Its technology
has been implemented from the field to the control room. The one wireless device has a self
discovering and self organizing managed and secure wireless field instrument mesh network. They
talk to each other and bridge the wireless network together. They use the IEEE 802.11 standard that
increases the network performance and improve air quality. The instruments in the field send data
through neighboring instruments back to the gateway device. This is used for non critical monitoring
and they do not require a fast update rate. The more the instruments the faster the update rate, this
could be as fast as one a second. There is a pitfall to these devices and that is battery life, but this can
be alleviated with adding more access points. Most of the time users get three years battery life from
their field instruments while using a one second update rates.

of the very important messages he empatizes on are the societies influence on people, the essence of

Essay on The Theme of Knowledge in Gilgamesh and Genesis
Ancient world literature and early civilization stories are mostly centered on human s relationship with
higher beings. Ancient civilizations were extremely religious, holding the belief that their very lives
were in the hands of their almighty god or goddess. This holds true for both the people of biblical
times as well as those of the epic era. However, their stories have some differences according to
cultural variation but the main structure, ideas, and themes are generally found correlative. It is hard to
believe that one work did not affect the others. The first great heroic epic poem of Gilgamesh and the
Old Testament are parts of two cultures that are hundreds of years apart. Whereas Gilgamesh is a myth

In the Book of Genesis, the idea of knowledge emerges throughout punishment. This theme is most
apparent when Adam and Eve deceive God by eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
When they do this, they are immediately given the ability to discern between right and wrong. The
Old Testament states, The woman saw that the tree was good for food, pleasing to the eyes, and
desirable for gaining knowledge (Genesis 3:6). Promptly Adam and Eve gain knowledge and realize
their nakedness as punishment from God. Likewise in Gilgamesh, Enkidu, was a wild man before he
was seduced by a harlot from Uruk. After his encounter with harlot he notices his abilities have been
greatly suppressed. Enkidu was grown weak, the narrator tells us, for wisdom was in him, and the
thoughts of a man were in his heart. The woman says to him, You are wise, Enkidu, and now you have

What Role Did Wonder Woman Play In The Women s Rights...

Cultural influence of the temple of Hera
It is very clear that ancient buildings can be a part of the evidence to show what happed in the history.
As a part of ancient culture, architectural languages have the significant vale in both culture and
construction. The temple of Hera, which becomes the sign of Greek classic architecture even the
whole Europe, plays an important role in the Greece history and culture . This essay will start an
analysis from the structure and component of the temple of hera to present that how can cultural
factors affect the form and functions of a building. The temple of hera is located in the site of
Olympia, in a valley in the Peloponnesus. As a Doric construction with a size of 50.01 by 18.76 m
with three platforms, some of the walls in the temple of hera was designed to paint for recording
stories happened in earlier times while some of them was used to depict mythological events. Thus it

The Road That Led African Americans
The road that led African Americans to freedom in the United States was definitely not an easy road
by any means. It was indeed a stony road, and the chastening rod is used here to describe the
harshness associated with slavery and the masters cracking the whip, or rod. So much blood was shed
during this point in time, before Reconstruction (during the Civil War), and after Reconstruction and
the period leading up to the Harlem Renaissance. In fact, even after African Americans had gained
their freedom they still experienced abuse, inequality, and suffering at the hands of their White
counterparts. The Jim Crow Laws were enacted and in effect in the South, which led to the mass
migration to the North, and even in the North, Blacks still experienced some indifference, though not
on the same scale as they had in the South. In Lift Every Voice and Sing, Johnson uses rhyming which
of course is standard of most poetry. He also uses simile in line five with his comparison of how the
sound of joy should be loud like that of the rolling sea. Lift Every Voice and Sing is both carefully and
craftily composed, and uses vivid imagery as well as religious theme, which is also prevalent in a
majority of Johnson s works, again displaying his strong Christian faith. This poem has become so
well known, and so popular, that it was recited by Reverend Joseph E. Lowery at the Inauguration
ceremony of President Barack Obama in 2009. In 2008 Rene Marie, a jazz musician substituted the

Essay Growing Up
When I Grow Up.. Being grown up isn t as fun as the idea of growing up. AmberGrace Seguin
Remember when we were young and all we could think of was growing up and getting to do grownup
things? We spent our whole childhood thinking of what we would do when we finally grew up , and
here we are, almost completely grown up and we still haven t made up our mind of what it is we will
do when we grow up. We ve painted this pretty little picture in our head of what it ll be like when we
eventually do grow up, and when it finally comes for the picture to be taken off the wall and put into
action, it s not nearly as fun as creating the painting. Growing old is mandatory, growing up is
optional. Anonymous We all have the choice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The day the child realizes that all adults are imperfect, he becomes an adolescent; the day he forgives
them, he becomes an adult; the day he forgives himself, he becomes wise. Alden Nowlan As we
continue to grow up, we learn that being grown up is not as we imagined it. We once convinced
ourselves that growing up was the goal to achieve, and life would be much better once we were in fact
grown up. When we in fact do grow up, we think back at our youth and laugh because we thought
growing up was the most wondrous thing to accomplish, but now, more than ever, we crave for our
youth; for the days we would sit in the grass and daydream of what we are to become when we grow
up; and finally for the days when life was simple and we could imagine it any which way we wanted it
and no one could do a thing about it. A grownup is a child with layers on. Woody

Value Chain Analysis Of Perforce Helix
While Git is easily most popular choice for many developers in a range from small or large companies
around the world, there is an alternative enterprise orientation version control that offers much better
capabilities and that is called Perforce Helix. Because Helix is entirely flexible, it offers its own native
distribution version control features, security restrictions based on the file level of user access, lock
digital assets (or files) that cannot be merged, and supports your favorite tools (applications and
plugins). It is the only enterprise DVCS (Distributed Version Control) that is straight out of box for
any developers to take advantage of all power of the tool (without consume time to download external

Renewable Energy Policies Operating At The Level Of The...
The world today, as we know it, acknowledges the impact of the carbon emission on the surrounding
environment with devastating effects such as global warming, rise of the ocean levels and destruction
of animal and vegetal life. Therefore, it started shifting towards more green sources of energy such as
renewable energy, ones that are more sustainable and more friendly to the environment. European
Union, one of the most advanced democratic models of our time, is one of the key players at the
global level which understands the need for this change in perspective and constantly advocates for
more elaborate policies and joined plans of action. The aim of this essay is to analyse the three main
renewable energy policies operating at the level ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The feed in tariffs could be explained simply by taking the cost of a particular system, dividing that
figure by the number of kilowatt/hours that the system can reasonably be expected to generate over its
service life (generally 20 years), and the result is the cost of that system per kilowatt hour. Now, tack
on whatever return on investment (ROI) is desired, and a feed in tariff had been obtained. This
approach allows a distinction to be made not only between different renewables technologies (solar,
wind, etc), but also between different system sizes. As an example a big wind farm will undoubtedly
produce more energy than the power collected from a certain amount of solar rooftops. With offering
different feed in tariffs for various system sizes, one can ensure the economic viability of the various
applications, thereby preventing windfall profits for large projects.
1.2. Secondly, in the coming decades, the trend of liberalising energy markets will have to be
combined with ambitious environmental goals within the European Union (EU). Currently prevailing
incentive schemes (such as trade in tariffs) for renewable energy might not be in line with
liberalisation of international energy markets. A good example might be the disadvantage that an
operator which is situated near a greater renewable energy potential area, having to accept all the

Heart Of Darkness By Joseph Conrad Essay
One of the biggest fallacies one could make is believe with certainty that humankind is only one way
(good or bad) without taking into account that ascertaining the precise percentage of how good and
how bad humanity is almost inconceivable. The only thing one can infer is that every human and
everything created by humans has two sides to it: the form and the substance. Joseph Conrad s novella
Heart of Darkness shows precisely how dangerous it is to put our trust in a concept, for example:
colonization, without realizing that most of the time one only gets to see the form and not the
substance.
In this essay, my purpose is to demonstrate that Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad is mainly a
novella about the discrepancy between substance and form. In order to prove my point I will bring
into discussion the matter of colonization and two of the characters: the General Manager and Kurtz.
Firstly, in Heart of Darkness colonization is perceived from two different perspectives: the first
perspective of the ones not involved directly, the second one of the ones who had an active role in the
action. In regard to this, the form is represented by how colonization was considered by the outsider,
namely the one who believed it to be an act of kindness and an attempt to bring light in the land of
darkness. For instance, Marlow s aunt, who was the one who helped him fulfil his dream of going to
Africa, maintained that her nephew was: like an emissary of light, something like a lower

Growing Up In The Central African Republic

people and make things better. Now, I saw all of the opportunities that Americans have and often take
for granted. I saw this in a simple thing like voting. The Civil Rights movement and Dr. Martin Luther

The Performance Challenges Of Electra Products Success Essay
1. INTRODUCTION
Electra Products, who was an industry leader in the manufacture and retail of electrical supplies for
many years, is today experiencing a declining market share amidst growing competition. This
challenges the company to be innovative and adaptable as it seeks to rediscover its competitive
advantage. Unfortunately, the organisation is characterised by low levels of employee engagement and
trust which makes it resistant to change.
Commissioned by Ms Russel, the aim of this report is to analyse the performance challenges limiting
Electra Products success and to provide recommendations for workplace development.
The insight this report provides is limited by the information supplied on Electra Products which
pertained mainly to the monthly meeting introducing a new era of empowerment. Assumptions have
therefore been made for the purposes of completeness. Giving consideration to the history of
downsizing it is assumed that the organisation is pursuing a no growth to low growth business model
(Cameron, 1994) while looking to improve flexibility and market responsiveness in a bid to rediscover
their competitive advantage in response to the drop in market share (Porter, 2011). Further
assumptions are that Harry is representative of a significant portion of the company s workforce, and
that workplace trust and staff retention were historically good.
A review of the organisational behaviour at Electra Products identified a common goal between
management and

Neisseria Essay
Neisseria are fastidious Gram negative cocci that require nutrient supplementation to grow in
laboratory cultures. To be specific, they grow on chocolate agar with carbon dioxide. These cocci are
facultatively intracellular and typically appear in pairs (diplococci), in the shape of coffee beans. Of
the eleven species of Neisseria that colonize humans, only two are pathogens. N. gonorrhoeae is the
causative agent of gonorrhea (also called The Clap ) and is transmitted via sexual contact.[2]
Neisseria is usually isolated on Thayer Martin agar (or VPN agar) an agar plate containing antibiotics
(vancomycin, colistin, nystatin, and trimethoprim) and nutrients that facilitate the growth of Neisseria
species while inhibiting the growth of contaminating bacteria and fungi. Further testing to differentiate
the species includes testing for oxidase (all clinically relevant Neisseria show a positive reaction) and
the carbohydrates maltose, sucrose, and glucose test in which N. gonorrhoeae will oxidize (that is,
utilize) only the glucose.
N. gonorrhoeae are non motile and possess type IV pili to adhere to surfaces. The type IV pili operate
mechanistically similar to a grappling hook. Pili extend and attach to a substrate that signals the pilus

gonorrhoeae has surface proteins called Opa proteins, which bind to receptors on immune cells. In so

gonorrhoeae can also evade the immune system through a process called antigenic variation, in which
the N. gonorrhoeae bacterium is able to alter the antigenic determinants (sites where antibodies bind)
such as the Opa proteins[4] and Type IV pili[5] that adorn its surface. The many permutations of
surface proteins make it more difficult for immune cells to recognize N. gonorrhoeae and mount a

UTRGV Case Study
The current business process of UTRGV, specifically, of course delivery is to deliver classes via two
main means. They are the traditional method of face to face and virtually through Blackboard.
However, this current process is in need of great improvement after the UTPA and UTB merger. That
is, due to the vast distance separating both campuses, students are in need of a third course delivery
option. Students need an option that enables them to take all their classes from one single location. As
of right now, students must decide to take their classes face to face at the Edinburg and/or
Brownsville. However, the problem is that some classes are exclusively offered at one and not both
campuses. Currently, the way around this problem is to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is where information technology can be used to improve such process. Currently, students must
choose from two primary methods. They are face to face and online respectively. Yet, with the use of
information technology, UTRGV is able to implement and offer students a third option. This option
will be better suited to meet the needs of two across both the Edinburg and Brownsville campuses. It
is through the usage of the online meeting and videoconferencing application WebEx that a third
course delivery method is able to be offered. Through WebEx, professors are able to live streamed
(and record) their lectures across both campuses. Specifically, professors are able to share their
screens and hold an interactive lecture where all the students (even those 70 miles away) are able to
contribute and ask questions. Without question, this is of great advantage to students especially when
only one course section is being offered. It will eliminate unnecessary travel time and costs which
could be put to better productive use elsewhere. For a visual representation of the new business
process, please see Figure 1: Business Process Analysis of UTRGV Course

Interning as the financial analyst at Terma North America Inc. (Terma) and as the accounting intern at
Howard, Moore, and McDuffie (HMM) has been a great learning experience. This summer I have
been able to apply theory and participate in real world scenarios. At the beginning of my internships, I
met with my supervisors to create goals that I would strive to achieve by the end of the summer. At
Terma, my goal was to prepare and present summary financial status reports to management and
customers. I was able to exceed this goal by working with the IT department to design and create a

At Terma, I have been able to expand my knowledge about not only accounting but finance as well. As
a financial analyst intern I had the opportunity to work closely with the financial manager. The tasks I
performed related to accounting, but included a variety of financial duties. I have always enjoyed
accounting and finance; however, I believe a background in accounting will further assist me if I
chose to work in the finance department of a company. While at Terma, I was able to experience
working in administration, human resources, accounting and finance, and even engineering. HMM
was different, and their focus and expertise is accounting. At HMM I have completed tasks that
involved accounts payable, accounts receivable, and tax. These are topics I have read about in school,
but have yet to have the opportunity to actually work on a real account. Through tutorials and many
training sessions, I also learned new concepts that will prepare me for future accounting classes and
employment. My internships this summer have amplified my knowledge of accounting, and have
helped me realize that all of my hard work and dedication to my studies were well worth it. Mercer
taught me the basics, and my internships allowed me to apply concepts and gain the skills that many
entry level accounts do not have. In one year, I will be entering the accounting

There are over 100 million sharks in the world, and around 440 known species of sharks. Some sharks

humans. Because of this, many people are terrified of sharks and when they go to the beach they don t
even want to get into the water. Are people actually even in danger of being killed by a shark? In this
research paper I will be talking about that. Where do shark attacks happen? How often do shark

There are a few new really good inventions that could prevent shark attacks without the human not
even having to worry about all those small things. One of them being a camouflaged wetsuit or
surfboard graphics. These scientific patterns essentially make people invisible to the sharks due to the
inability that sharks have of seeing colors. Using these patterns on your wetsuit in conjunction with
the bottom of your board will make it harder for the shark to identify you. Another great invention that
prevents shark attacks is called The Clever Buoy. The Clever Buoy uses sonar, a system for the
detection of objects under water by emitting sound pulses and detecting their return after being
reflected, to detect the size and swimming pattern of a fish near any beach that the buoy is. When the
buoy picks up a signal, it wirelessly sends the information to lifeguards for them to monitor. Next, an
app that will allow you to search for occurrences of shark attacks world wide. It allows you to see any
past shark encounters and details about the encounter. Including the date, location, the type of shark,
and the results of the occurrence. This helps because it could help you decide whether or not you
would like to go out into the water or not. Lastly, drones called Little Rippers. These drones cost
$250,000 and they come with an inflatable raft and a GPS that can be dropped to the person in danger.

The Matter And Procedure At 3 Pemberton Square
The Matter and Procedure
On Friday, September 23, 2016, I visited the Suffolk Superior Courthouse located at 3 Pemberton

The case was about a woman, Meaghan Fitzpatrick, suing Wendy s, JBM Souderton (Wendy s meat

Wendy s, which caused her having to go through multiple oral surgeries, pain, and years of

The case continued from Thursday and started with the defendant s attorney, Christopher Duggan,

testified about the meat making process in JBM, and was then cross examined by the plaintiff s
attorney, Matthew Fogelman. Mr. Fogelman then called the plaintiff, Meaghan Fitzpatrick, to the
witness stand. She testified about what happened after she bite the burger and what she had go through
afterwards. The trial then proceeded to closing statements.
The Witnesses
The defendant s witness was a JBM manager with decades of experience in the industry. He testified
that the process of meat making in JBM is extremely rigorous with multiple level of inspection and

Abstract: Agriculture uses 85% of available freshwater resources worldwide and this percentage will
continue to be dominant in water consumption because of population growth and increased food
demand. In India agriculture, primarily depends on the monsoon, which is not a sufficient source of
water. So irrigation is employed in the agriculture area. This paper targets to offer a cloud based drip
irrigation system to aid the farmers. The proposed system uses a microcontroller, sensors, and a cloud
server to provide real time network with field over a Wi Fi network. The proposed system aims to
conserve water up to a large extent by providing automatic and manual modes of irrigation. The
system can be monitored by the user on an android application.

The Globe Theater Architecture based on the structures similar to The Coliseum in Ancient Rome.
Architecture on a grand size would house a capacity between 1500 to 3000 people. Classic Greek and
Romans admired by the Elizabethans and sometimes great columns included the architecture. The

up the frames. The walls filled with entwine wattle and plastered over. Thatcher s or tillers covered the

June 27, 1613 a fire broke out at the Globe Theatre by the cannons that were used for special effects. It
filled with gunpowder and wadding. The thatched roof caught fire and the Globe Theatre burned to the
ground. In 1614 the Globe Theatre rebuilt again and back in business. (3 7)

Sherman Alexie s The Lone Ranger And Tonto Fistfight
Sherman Alexie s The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven is a collection of short stories about
the lives of the people who live on the Spokane Indian Reservation. The central protagonist of the
story is Victor Joseph who we see in many short stories and thus see the plight Native Americans go
through in modern day America. The novel shows us the many trials that the people of the Reservation
go through and addresses the many serious problems that modern Native Americans face, such as
racism, alcoholism, poverty, limited educational opportunities, and being geographical isolated.
Ultimately the state of affairs that the modern Native American race goes through stems from the
historical events of European colonialism as well as modern day popular culture.
One of the major problems that modern Native Americans face are the Americanization or white
washing of their culture. This is caused by technology as well as the isolation of the reservation
compared to the outside world. Still, Indians have a way of surviving. But it s almost like Indians can
easily survive the big stuff. Mass murder, loss of language and land rights. It s the small things that
hurt the most. The white waitress who wouldn t take an order, Tonto, the Washington Redskin (The

  • 2. Just-in-Time Supply Chain Managment Systems and Chrysler Auto In the article, Chrysler Averts a Parts Crisis, by Jeffrey Ball, in the Wall Street Journal, readers get a small glimpse of how major businesses utilize just in time systems and how they may be impacted during a national crisis such as September 11th. Just in time is getting the right quantity of goods to the right place exactly at the right time. The goal is to get products at a certain place not too early and not too late, instead, just in time.(1) Just in time systems is an inventory strategy that is relatively simple to explain and understand. In order to fully understand just in time systems we must thoroughly define it and answer a couple key questions. First, how does a just in time system minimize warehousing costs? Second, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... JIT minimizes quality problems that can result when parts sit around for a long time. JIT stresses the importance of minimizing waste. A company that uses JIT is from the school of though of feeling like they have a need for continuous improvement. The JIT viewpoint on improvement is if it s not perfect, make it better instead of it s good enough. JIT minimizes quality problems by using pull quick setups and small lots and by using flexible resources and efficient facility layouts. If parts aren t sitting around wasting space and money then there is less of a chance for the parts to go bad. JIT systems depend heavily on transportation networks. Everything from trucks, boats, and planes help to deliver time sensitive parts to factories that use JIT. In the article, Chrysler Averts a Parts Crisis, it exposed how sensitive a JIT operation can be to a disrupted transportation network. On September 11th and the days following, airplanes were grounded and trucks were stuck in eighteen hour lines at U.S. border crossings. Since, in just in time systems, manufacturing parts are delivered to assembly plants a few times throughout the day in small batches, instead of less frequent deliveries in huge piles that require warehousing, this effected assembly lines and auto plants very badly. The JIT system works to minimize warehousing costs as well as quality problems ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Article Review On Donald Trump Among the websites that were listed for us to examine were some that focused on certain topics such as the salaries of our congressmen and the happenings of the US treasury, and others that were broad and covered many topics. I found myself spending more time on these websites that covered many topics. The Daily Caller is one of these broad websites that featured the current events in politics, the international community, entertainment, sports and business. The political section on the Daily Caller seems to favor a more conservative stance, but is by no means a conservative website. Donald Trump of course was making news, with his words that were directed to North Korea during his speech at an airbase in Japan. These soldiers in Japan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People have been pushing for a more background checks and calling for convicted domestic abusers to not be allowed guns. The Daily Caller reported that there is in fact already such a law in place. In 1996 there was a federal law passed that prohibits people who have been charged with domestic violence from purchasing or possessing guns. In 2016 the Supreme Court upheld this law. Gun control is a touchy subject, and I personally feel that the laws that the government enacts can always be circumvented. For example, this Devin Kelley should never have been allowed to buy a gun, and yet he did. The increase in recent years of mass shootings is not due to a more readily available supply of guns and ammo or laxer laws, rather it is the people. These nut jobs are the crux of the problem, and I don t have a solution to fail safely prevent mentally disturbed persons from acquiring guns. That being said, I do think that laws are effective, although not foal proof. I m confident that there has been several shooting prevented by denying certain persons guns, and that s why I m for gun control laws. While the world section of the Daily Caller covers many avenues of new, a large portion of it seems to be focused on conflicts in the international community. North Korea is suffering under the heaviest sanctions that have been placed on them. A former North Korean financial official has stated that he is unsure if North Korea will be able to survive ... These adorable, yellow, Tic Tac like creatures depicted in the hit movies Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2, and Minions work hard and don t expect much in return.Their work ethic has received praise from esteemed figures such as Barack Obama, who says that minions stand for every ideal that America was built on (Kevin 53). The problem is that minions only work for villains with nefarious plans of taking over the world. In American society, studies found that 99% of the people feel like henchmen to the biggest companies in all sectors of society, from Walmart to Wall Street (Bob 17). The relationship between the minions and villains bears many similarities to the modern economic and political system of America. The Despicable Me movie franchise is a comprehensive representation of capitalism in America. In the Despicable Me movies, there are many more minions than villains; however, the minions have significantly less power. This represents how the richest CEOs of America are greatly outnumbered by the general population, yet still have overarching control of America, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most of these successful people either had good luck or inherited it through the generations. The passage also mentions how the villains are the ones with the ideas and influence to change the world, not so much the minions. The richest in American society have much more influence on what occurs than the working class due to their connections, lobbying, and other factors. Of course the minions have some power, they are not slaves, but it is harder for them to make a change individually than it is for someone like Gru, a man in the movies whose antics included trying to steal the moon. Depending on how much you want to change can affect the financial impact, but generally more efficient equipment and organic foods are more expensive. So generally if you are eventually upgrade the building, appliances, and food options to be eco friendly and organic the financial impact will be large but also positive because overtime you should be making your money back and more as well as helping the environment. Organic and local foods always come at a higher price because they are naturally grown rather than artificially with chemicals at a faster rate. Organic farmers work hard to grow their foods naturally at a much slower pace so they need to increase their prices to make it worthwhile. If a catering company is buying more expensive foods, it impacts the prices on the menu and causes them to rise so they can still make profit. What Is The Essence Of Christian Worldview When it comes to defining what is the true essence of the Christian worldview, it must be noted that there is not a single point of which serves as the essence but rather the essence of Christianity comes from many of its key points. The first point that serves as part of the foundation that creates the essence of the Christian worldview would be the belief in God s existence. This may seem quite obvious since one of the key tenets of any theistic worldview is the belief a higher power but this should not be overlooked since it is an extremely vital part. Such a belief in a higher power is extremely important since it creates a worldview that is extremely different from those within the Atheistic family. This is because the assumption that ... • 10. Analysis Of Ethical Decision And Scandal Analysis of ethical reaction to scandal Introduction The reputation of an organization is crucial. Therefore, being a leader of an organization has to be able to react efficiently and effectively when there is a threat to organization s reputation. Occasionally, a leader has to face a dilemma, whereby one has to decide how to deal with the scandals in the organizations. On one hand, some organizations treat their customers as a mean to gather the profits. On the other hand, other organizations regard their customers as an end, whereby the organizations really consider about customers interests as an ultimate goal of their services. Nonetheless, only the companies that mad the ethical actions survived. Lacking a focus on the welfare of their customers, some propaganda techniques, aiming to cover up the scandals, usually don t work well. Instead, successful public relationship management techniques generally treat their customers welfare as an end not just a mean. For example, a successful crisis management usually contains the honesty and quick reaction. Enron Corporation is a great example to illustrate how damaging it is if company leaders try to hide up the scandals and lie to the public. • 13. Why is Hubel and Wiesel s Description of the Classical... The ultimate goal for a system of visual perception is representing visual scenes. It is generally assumed that this requires an initial break down of complex visual stimuli into some kind of discrete subunits (De Valois De Valois, 1980, p.316) which can then be passed on and further processed by the brain. The task thus arises of identifying these subunits as well as the means by which the visual system interprets and processes sensory input. An approach to visual scene analysis that prevailed for many years was that of individual cortical cells being feature detectors with particular response criteria. Though not self proclaimed, Hubel and Wiesel s theory of a hierarchical visual system employs a form of such feature detectors. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Applying this notion to mammalian vision is however problematic; humans for example, are capable of visually perceiving greater detail and variety than a frog and would thus require considerably more of these uniquely coded feature detectors. The notion of a grandmother cell was thus introduced to highlight the entailment of such a theory; if every unique stimulus requires its own feature detector cell, an absurdly high number of neurons would be required for humans to represent the vast variety of visual scenes encountered in a lifetime. Aware of this shortcoming, Hubel and Wiesel (1962,1965,1968) were cautious not refer to feature detectors when examining the receptive fields of the mammalian visual cortex of live cats (Hubel Wiesel, 1962) and monkeys (Hubel Wiesel, 1968). Nonetheless, it is now widely accepted that Hubel and Wiesel s theory of simple, complex and hyper complex cells remains a form of the original feature detector theory, albeit formulated into a more economical hierarchical structure. (Lennie, 2003; Martin, 1994) Hubel and Wiesel (962, 1965) concluded that vision involved a hierarchical process starting in the retina, continuing through the lateral geniculate body, the primary visual cortex and possibly even into areas V2 and V3. So much blood was shed during this point in time, before Reconstruction (during the Civil War), and after Reconstruction and the period leading up to the Harlem Renaissance. Joseph Conrad s novella Heart of Darkness shows precisely how dangerous it is to put our trust in a concept, for example: colonization, without realizing that most of the time one only gets to see the form and not the substance. In this essay, my purpose is to demonstrate that Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad is mainly a novella about the discrepancy between substance and form. In order to prove my point I will bring into discussion the matter of colonization and two of the characters: the General Manager and Kurtz. Firstly, in Heart of Darkness colonization is perceived from two different perspectives: the first perspective of the ones not involved directly, the second one of the ones who had an active role in the action. In regard to this, the form is represented by how colonization was considered by the outsider, namely the one who believed it to be an act of kindness and an attempt to bring light in the land of darkness. For instance, Marlow s aunt, who was the one who helped him fulfil his dream of going to Africa, maintained that her nephew was: like an emissary of light, something like a lower ... • 27. The Performance Challenges Of Electra Products Success Essay 1. INTRODUCTION Electra Products, who was an industry leader in the manufacture and retail of electrical supplies for many years, is today experiencing a declining market share amidst growing competition. This challenges the company to be innovative and adaptable as it seeks to rediscover its competitive advantage. Unfortunately, the organisation is characterised by low levels of employee engagement and trust which makes it resistant to change. Commissioned by Ms Russel, the aim of this report is to analyse the performance challenges limiting Electra Products success and to provide recommendations for workplace development. The insight this report provides is limited by the information supplied on Electra Products which pertained mainly to the monthly meeting introducing a new era of empowerment. Assumptions have therefore been made for the purposes of completeness. Giving consideration to the history of downsizing it is assumed that the organisation is pursuing a no growth to low growth business model (Cameron, 1994) while looking to improve flexibility and market responsiveness in a bid to rediscover their competitive advantage in response to the drop in market share (Porter, 2011). Further assumptions are that Harry is representative of a significant portion of the company s workforce, and that workplace trust and staff retention were historically good. A review of the organisational behaviour at Electra Products identified a common goal between management and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Neisseria Essay Neisseria are fastidious Gram negative cocci that require nutrient supplementation to grow in laboratory cultures. To be specific, they grow on chocolate agar with carbon dioxide. These cocci are facultatively intracellular and typically appear in pairs (diplococci), in the shape of coffee beans. Of the eleven species of Neisseria that colonize humans, only two are pathogens. N. gonorrhoeae is the causative agent of gonorrhea (also called The Clap ) and is transmitted via sexual contact.[2] Neisseria is usually isolated on Thayer Martin agar (or VPN agar) an agar plate containing antibiotics (vancomycin, colistin, nystatin, and trimethoprim) and nutrients that facilitate the growth of Neisseria species while inhibiting the growth of contaminating bacteria and fungi. Further testing to differentiate the species includes testing for oxidase (all clinically relevant Neisseria show a positive reaction) and the carbohydrates maltose, sucrose, and glucose test in which N. gonorrhoeae will oxidize (that is, utilize) only the glucose. N. gonorrhoeae are non motile and possess type IV pili to adhere to surfaces. The type IV pili operate mechanistically similar to a grappling hook. • 29. UTRGV Case Study The current business process of UTRGV, specifically, of course delivery is to deliver classes via two main means. They are the traditional method of face to face and virtually through Blackboard. However, this current process is in need of great improvement after the UTPA and UTB merger. That is, due to the vast distance separating both campuses, students are in need of a third course delivery option. Students need an option that enables them to take all their classes from one single location. As of right now, students must decide to take their classes face to face at the Edinburg and/or Brownsville. However, the problem is that some classes are exclusively offered at one and not both campuses. Currently, the way around this problem is to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is where information technology can be used to improve such process. Currently, students must choose from two primary methods. They are face to face and online respectively. Yet, with the use of information technology, UTRGV is able to implement and offer students a third option. This option will be better suited to meet the needs of two across both the Edinburg and Brownsville campuses. It is through the usage of the online meeting and videoconferencing application WebEx that a third course delivery method is able to be offered. Through WebEx, professors are able to live streamed (and record) their lectures across both campuses. Specifically, professors are able to share their screens and hold an interactive lecture where all the students (even those 70 miles away) are able to contribute and ask questions. Without question, this is of great advantage to students especially when only one course section is being offered. It will eliminate unnecessary travel time and costs which could be put to better productive use elsewhere. Using these patterns on your wetsuit in conjunction with the bottom of your board will make it harder for the shark to identify you. The Clever Buoy uses sonar, a system for the detection of objects under water by emitting sound pulses and detecting their return after being reflected, to detect the size and swimming pattern of a fish near any beach that the buoy is.
