Why Is Tony Harding Unfair
Everyone here has heard something about the biggest figure skating scandal there was in the world.
Whether you saw the new movie starring Margot Robbie or heard in recent months on the news about
this event that took place twenty years ago. I am talking about Tonya Harding. She was a curvy,
blonde, woman who was rather poor. Over the many years of her skating career many people in The
United States Figure Skating Association have tried to ostracize Tonya from the skating community
because she chose music she wanted and was different. I think Tonya Harding was tried unfairly
because she was not the ideal female skater at the time because of her weight, because she was female,
and because she was poor.
First a little backstory, Tonya Harding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a recent documentary it was noted that anyone who proceeded to skate with Tonya would have to
resign from the United States Figure Skating Association. The United States Figure Skating
Association ostracized Tonya from the rest of the community. Tonya Harding s relationship with Jeff
Gillooly, was an abusive one, but she kept coming back to him. She says in interviews that he always
saying the right things to get me back, and I d be stupid enough to go back and get beat up again. Jeff
Gillooly was not the only abusive person in her life. Her mother was also abusive. Tonya Harding
came from an abusive family that did not have a lot of money. Tonya Harding could not afford to get
private ice the same as Nancy Kerrigan did. Even after proceeding to get second place at the 1994
Olympics Kerrigan made many mistakes such as talking rudely about Oksana Baiul who had won first
place that year. and the Disneyland Parade float she was on calling it corny and stupid . To today
Kerrigan who was an ideal female figure skater was forgiven for her mistakes that she

Art 111
29th September, 2017
Art is another form of language, that artists use to explain something or express their feelings. I
believe that through art, communication is more passionate and thoughtful. In paintings, artist have
their own techniques in which they use to convey the messages in their work. The piece In the Studio
c by William Merritt Chase 1889 1916, he connects with his viewers through expression of lines,
space and depth, light and color, texture and design. This painting was also donated by Mary Reynolds
Babcock Foundation, ARCA Forsyth 1967 2.4.
Viewing the painting, I found that William uses a variety of lines. I found a good amount of thick and
thin contoured line in the body and the clothing of the woman sitting in the chair. Contoured lines help
to add volume and to mold into something. The pure contour lines in the woman chest helps her
character appear more feminine, as well as the curvy and thin lines in her dress and shoes. The curved
outline in her body gives a visual gesture and communicates body language. We all know that body
language is a nonverbal form of communication, it can say a lot, and cause different reactions. The
artist incorporated implied line in the figures painted on the dresser. The Buddha statue appears to be
looking down at the women, and the man looking statue appears to be looking away from the woman.
This puts the focal point on the woman. She also has implied lines that makes her appear to

The Influence Of Zoonosis
It appears that zoonosis has added another means of infecting humans to its arsenal. A veterinarian at a
New York City animal shelter where cats were infected with a strain of bird flu was also infected by
the strain of flu that the cats had. As we all know zoonosis is a disease that can be transmitted to
humans from animals. In this case it was the cats housed in the shelter. Fortunately, as reported by the
New York City health department, only the veterinarian was infected. The vet only had a mild illness
from the virus, called H7N2. More than 160 Animal Care Centers of NYC employees and volunteers,
including several people who had similar exposure to sick cats, were screened by the Health
Department and not found to have an infection with the H7N2 virus, ... Show more content on

Normally we think of zoonosis origins that are associated with the production of food. This case is
slightly different because felines are not part of the usual American diet. However, there are several
conditions that fostered a favorable habitat for a zoonotic event to occur. The first stage no doubt
began with much earlier events, perhaps when pigs first caught the flu and infected humans. In turn
people infected pigs with the flu. Each brewed a unique and mutated version of the virus to spread to
the next host. The second stage possibly began with the central housing of multiple felines from
assorted origins and with varied health conditions. These animals once adopted are distributed into a
wide geographical into homes of owners who interact in close proximity of their pet, and come in
contact with body fluids and fecal matter of their pets. In addition to the other variables, the people
who receive these pets have a wind range of overall levels of health too. This formula creates a perfect
equation for the door to open for the next emergence of a new pandemic strain to seize the lives of
humans and felines

Medical Logistics Ordering Problem Solution Essay
1. Problem. To determine if reducing the number of Medical Logistics Ordering systems to two main
systems is the best course of action for the Army.
2. Recommendation. Recommend Possible Solution PS 1 to determine the most effective method to
reduce the number of systems currently used in the Army to order Medical Supplies from multiple
systems down to two. PS 1 best establishes this emphasis by currently incorporating procedures
already in use by the Army Medical Department, and the Medical Logistics community. 3.
Background. Logically, the Army Medical Logistics should have connectivity with all systems
currently in used throughout Department of Defense including Operational Forces, Generating Forces,
United States Navy Logistics, and the United States Air Force Logistics. However, most systems do
not interact with each other due to firewall issues and network security connectivity.
4. Facts.
a. According to survey conducted, military personnel from the Army, Navy and Air Force, determine
that 55% is proficient on the use of the Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS), 34%

The Conditions Of The Marine Environment
Introduction:
The conditions of the marine environment place special demands on the design and use of a camera
(ERT Task Sheet, 2015). An average above surface camera cannot simply be made waterproof using a
camera housing in order to operate effectively underwater. There are special demands created by
various aspects of the marine environment for example, the lens must be designed specifically to
recorrect the distortion created by refraction and strobes must be placed away from the camera to
avoid backscatter. Refraction mainly occurs when underwater photographers use a flat port (Deep
Ocean Diving Underwater vision, n.d.). These factors would be the reason as to why the camera would
not produce accurate or high quality photographs of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to calculate the refractive index, this formula will be used: n_(1 2)=n_2/n_1 . For medium 1,
n_1 is the absolute refractive index and for medium 2, n_2 is the absolute refractive index (Refraction
of Light, 2015). When a light ray enters different medium, all molecules in that medium absorbs the
light and re emits it. This is why the light ray take longer to pass through. The more molecules the
more time the light will be absorbed and re emitted and therefore the longer it will take to pass
through. Due to this difference in densities and amount of time the light ray takes to pass through,
refraction occurs. This is when the light ray bends when it travels through two different mediums. This
affects underwater photography as refraction occurs and the object is distorted (Underwater Holdings,
2015).
Optical Underwater Issue: Refraction in Waterproof Camera Housing Underwater
Figure 2: Flat Port and Dome Port Underwater Refraction is one of the major issues when it comes to
underwater photography. Refraction is the apparent change in the speed of the light ray which results
to a change in the direction of the ray (Kwon, 2015). Once light travels from air to water, it slows
down as it come across the denser medium. This is a problem if all light rays could cross the dividing
line at right angles. Refraction can be encountered when light travels from air to

The Effect Of Plasma On The Membrane Performance
Introduction When put under stress, at some point materials begin to decline and perform poorly. Cell
membranes are no different. The specific design and structure of plasma membranes allows for the
regular function of cells through transportation, facilitating reactions, and several other tasks carried
out by the cell membrane and endomembrane system. When put under physical or chemical stress,
however, the plasma membrane begins to falter and will eventually become unable to perform its
tasks, which are necessary to cell life. Using beet root tissue, the relationship between membrane
performance and temperature was tested. 3 samples of beet were prepared and placed in a 50%
methanol solution and exposed to temperatures above, below, and at room temperature. The
membrane s performance in repelling an unwanted solution in adverse conditions was measured by
the amount of damaged membranes, which resulted in increases in released pigments. This lab s
hypothesis is: varying temperature will have an inverse effect on the membrane performance. The
membrane will perform more poorly under increased heat than increased cold, but both changes in
temperature will negatively affect the performance of the membrane. This will be measured by
amount of light reflected by the spectrophotometer, reflecting how much pigment was given off, and
therefore how many membranes were compromised. The independent variable is the temperature the
sample is put through, and the controlled variables

Character Rank In Society in The Canterbury Tales by Chaucer
The Canterbury Tales can be understood as a Chaucerian satire according many readers. Chaucer sets
out to deliberately upset the social order present at that time and to mock the faults present in the
characters. Although he baffles about the complexity of the characters, Chaucer also praises and
condemns characters for their unique qualities. Chaucer further gives us feedback of what actions the
characters are taking in their lives. Many of the pilgrims are headed off to Canterbury, to worship the
relics of Saint Thomas Becket. Thomas Becket was murdered by his friend King Henry and soon
Canterbury became a pilgrimage site for people to pray for their healings. As for Chaucer, he observed
both high and lower social class to get a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Line 73) The Knight, according to Chaucer takes the code of chivalry very seriously and straight
forth. He based his values on the code of chivalry and doesn t intend to break it. His attire also
contributes to why Chaucer thinks highly of him. His clothes are made from a coarse cloth and his
coat is rust stained. We can infer that the Knight isn t very wealthy but regardless, when compared to
the other characters, he lives the best life of all. The Merchant is a high figure in society because he is
a part of the wealthy class. Although he may seem unmoral because being part of the wealthy class,
Chaucer s perception is very different. Chaucer believed he was a worthy man because he governed all
[his] trade affairs well. (Lines 282 283) Chaucer admires the way the Merchant handles his business,
doing what it takes to get his job done. He borrows money and disguises himself well if and never he
is in debt. Looking at the Merchant physically, we can see that he has nice things such as his elegant
boots [and] Flemish beaver hat. (Lines 272 273) Again, it seems as though he cares immensely over
material possession, but he does it to look more sophisticated in his business plans. Even though the
Merchant is already classified a member of the higher class, Chaucer also puts him in the higher ranks
because of his intelligence in trade and business. Chaucer s principle

Goldman Sachs Case
It was announced Friday April 16, 2010 that Goldman Sachs is now under review by the SEC
regarding fraudulent practices. The short of it is that Goldman Sachs may have been one of the biggest
players in the sub prime mortgage decline, due to their lending of these types of loans. An
investigation is being launched to see if and how they may have defrauded customers.
Unfortunately, the investigation is going to take time, so anyone who had dealings with Goldman
Sachs is not going to find an instant decision that betters their life. If someone had a mortgage from
this company or somehow through the company, it may be possible to get some sort of reparation.
While you wait, you might be thinking about payday loans and what a cash advance ... Show more

The question is, Is this the right decision? Should you be betting your personal finances on loans that
are considered every bit as bad as a fraudulent mortgage company loan?
Here is why you might want to avoid the payday loans if you are in dire debt troubles. A payday loan
is a short term loan with little regulation. In other words, the companies have found a loop hole that
allows them to charge you high interests in a short period of time. There is also a fee associated with
the cash advance. If you are in a situation where you cannot pay the loan back on the due date, and in
full, you are just creating more debt for yourself.
On the other hand, if it is possible to pay it all back and avoid the hefty interest fees, it could be a
sound decision to get you through the month. The reality is that most individuals seeking payday loans
are already behind in payments and obtaining this type of loan could make it even worse. You have
other personal finance decisions you could make. You could seek a debt consolidation loan through a
bank or consolidation loan company. You could sell your car to raise the needed

Obesity In America Research Paper
The United States of America, a nation that is known for it s power, independence, and obesity. In the

government should increase the sales tax on fatty and high sugar junk food to encourage healthy
eating and help the American people. The revenue raised could be used to support greater causes and
pay for health care reform. This might be the solution this country needs. Admittedly, two out of every
three Americans are considered to be obese or overweight. The centers for disease control, predict that
nearly half of the population will be obese by 2030. Obesity rates have more than tripled in the past

How The French View The Natives In Black Robe
Black Robe is a film that greatly exemplifies the views the Natives and the French held of one another
during the 1600s. Both groups help impressions of each other that influenced how they interacted
together. During the Native and French encounters in Black Robe, it was apparent that Natives viewed
the French as incompetent, weak, but also interesting; the French had their own impressions that the
Natives were savages and in need of salvation. It is with the Algonquins that one can see the interest
they held in their view of the French. In Black Robe, there is a scene with the Natives sitting in a
church like building watching a clock. The Algonquins were enticed with the mechanism and asked
the French questions about it. They were perplexed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From beginning to end, any mention of the Natives by the French was usually linked to the word
savages. This was shown in several scenes in the film. Towards the beginning, before Father Laforgue
and Daniel leave on the Hurons mission, two men are talking to one another about how they would not
go on such a mission with savages. Another example of this reference is near the end of the film when
Father Laforgue finds Father Jerome in the Huron village and even Father Jerome refers to the ailing
Natives as savages when speaking about them. Father Laforgue s mission in the film clearly represents
the French s view that Natives were in need of salvation. Father Laforgue s main goal throughout the
film was to convert or save the Natives (the Algonquins and Hurons) and have them believe in
Christianity. A great example of this is during the scene of Chomina s death. Even as he is dying,
Father Laforgue begs him to allow himself to be baptized and saved in order to attain Christian
paradise. Chomina s response to this no, because he says his family will not be there. Father Laforgue
does eventually achieve his mission to convert the Natives to Christianity in the Huron village at the
end of the film, but he does so with a different mindset after all he had been through with Daniel and

As stated in the novel (Anaya Page 22) It was to be said after one made his confession to the priest,
and as the last prayer before death. Did God listen? Would he hear? And where was Lupito s soul
winging to? . This proves to be a pivotal moment in the novel the backbone to the questions that cling
on to Antonio soul like an anchor that gradually drowns him in his search for answers to his
paradoxical questions. He starts to question God and whether he would forgive Lupito s actions or
send his soul to an eternity of damnation. This is a key aspect to evaluate as he starts to question
authority of the all supreme ruler which is ever so impressive coming from somebody as young as
Antonio who is still naïve and gullible to what the Catholic church tells him. Another example of how
death played a pivotal role in shaping his religious ambivalence we must look at the death of Narciso.
To give some perspective on to why Narciso death was so devastating for Antonio we must first look
at another character named Tenorio. The dynamic between Tenorio and Narciso is the classic Good vs
Evil matchup. Tenorio is introduced as the father of the town witches who cast a curse on Antonio s
Uncle. To make a long story short after the events of the curse transpire one of Tenorio s daughters die

vengeance. Narciso is far from the model hero having been cast in the

Strategies For An Employee From A Tax Perspective
ISOs are often preferred by startups as it s supposed to be better for an employee from a tax
perspective. This assumes that (1) AMT won t be triggered and (2) you ll get low long term capital
gains rate by holding the stock for the appropriate holding periods. However, often you either run
afoul of the AMT trap, or don t hold the stock long enough with the complicated 1 year + 2 year
requirement, or the spread at exercise is zero or small, so the difference wouldn t matter anyway.
NSOs do have a slightly higher tax because of the employment taxes. Overall, it s not clear the ISO is
that much better for employees, so many people argue for NSOs instead. Even more confusingly, ISOs
can make it harder to meet the long term capital gains holding period. Many people expect early
exercise together with an 83(b) election will help them hold the stock longer, to qualify for long term
capital gains. While this is true for NSOs, there is a murky part of the rules on ISOs that implies that
even with an 83(b) election, the capital gain holding period does not begin until the shares actually
vest. So, if you want to immediately exercise an option and file an Section 83(b) election, and you
might have liquidity soon, it s better if you can have it be an NSO.

African Americans Freedom Summer Essay
Freedom Summer The 1960s was a very hostile time for African Americans, especially in one
particular state. In Mississippi, only 7% of the African American population was registered to vote,
while other southern states had about 50% 60% of the black community participating in elections.
Though preventing someone from voting based on their skin color was unconstitutional, many towns
in Mississippi made it almost impossible for anyone of color to enter the voting booth. Many efforts to
try to encourage voting in African Americans failed due to the fear of what would happen after the
attempt. The possible consequences for those who pursued in the right to vote was having their name

African Americans were taught to be second class citizens compared to white people, bowing to white
men and having to be respectful to all the unlawful rules of segregation. The Klu Klux Klan was never
causing the mayhem in Mississippi; an organization called the Citizens Council was the group
generating the strife against the black community. The Citizens Council was running the state because
it involved many political leaders, those in charge of voting registration, the police force, and mass
amounts of citizens. Efforts were made by bold African Americans to increase the number of black
voters in Mississippi, but people were too afraid to challenge the white community and those that did
try to register to vote were simply denied. Many times, the poor black community did not receive food
during the wintertime as a punishment for defying the white man by trying to register to vote; this was
the last straw. In the summer of 1964, the campaign called Freedom Summer, or also known as the
Mississippi Summer Project, was launched in order to bring awareness to the hateful and backwards

Counterarguing Coleman s Allegations that Global Warming...
The argument put forward by John Coleman, in his article Global Warming Greatest Scam in History!
, is flawed mainly due to numerous logical fallacies. Ad Hominem , Guilt by Association , Red
Herring , Appeal to Irrelevant Authority , Hasty Generalization , and Genetic Fallacy are some of the
logical fallacies that can be observed to prevail in Coleman s argument. As a consequence, the
soundness, validity, clarity, reasoning and consistency of the whole article are insubstantial. Coleman s
premises fail to support his proposition that global warming is a scam, making the whole argument
distorted and faulty.
The first defective premise that Coleman uses to support his claim, is that the scientists are dastard ,
manipulative and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is trying to argue that because the scientists want to become rich and popular, their findings must
automatically be untrustworthy. This is fallacious logic in that the scientists intentions have no
influence on their findings weight. This is another case of Coleman s baseless premise.
The second flawed premise in the argument is that PHD students are more likely than not, part of that
single minded culture. In this case, Coleman is saying that all PHDs are of the same type, their only
aim is money and glory. Coleman uses hasty generalization and genetic fallacy to support it, which are
both faulty logics. First of all, hasty generalization can be observed as Coleman reasons that because
he got his PHD, all other PHDs must be like him, which follows that since all PHDs he knows are
single minded, all PHDs must also be single minded. This generalization in itself is shaky since the
sample group of students is far too small to be used as a generalization of the whole population.
Furthermore there is not enough evidence to support this generalization; various important variables
such as university attended, age and gender are not taken into account. Coleman does not have any
evidence to hold this generalized proposition, rendering it void.
In an attempt to put more weight to this proposition, Coleman also states

Red Dog Film Analysis
The world is a funny place, no? Sometimes you pick your dog. Sometimes your dog picks you. Good
morning ladies and gentlemen for the AFC, and the quote you have just heard is from the Australian
film Red dog and is stated to be one of the most powerful quotes in Australian theatre. Australian film
has been around for many years and of those years there have been many examples of what some
might like to call a masterpiece. Some of these films include the Mad Max series, Gallipoli, Crocodile
Dundee but of these films, the film that stands out the most to audiences is the movie Red dog. Red
dog is directed by Australian producer Kriv Stenders and was made in 2011. The story takes place
during the 1970 s so one would expect to view various counts of racism and sexism but there was no
evidense of these themes ever showing as the dialogue had been written for a G rating. It was as if the
whole production has had its mouth washed out with soap by there mother for cursing. The reason this
film was successful to most was because of the message it portrayed as the movie was based around a
young Australian Kelpie named Red dog and how he united a fractured community while searching
for his master. The movie is highly regarded today as of the best Australian films as it brings all
Australian values to the table. The main reason for the audiences love for this film is because of its
portrayal of a character s loyalty, mateship and the Australian Landscape and this is what occurs
throughout the film.
Mateship is a big part of Australian culture as us as Australians live and breathe the words of
friendship and that is why this film is so successful, because it brought an un unlikely hero and made
the character bond with an entire town. As Australians, we love a good animal story and due to the
bond between the main character John and his companion Red dog was so strong it was as if the pair
were inseparable. The Australian notion of mateships is portrayed in the film when the character Joko
is talking about the type of man that should have a statue for all to admire as he states It should be
somebody who lives and breathes desolation, somebody that has red dust stuck up their nose and in
their eyes and in their ears

Disadvantages Of Online Dating
Adults, we live much busier lives than generations before us. Finding a person to date, marry and
build a family with is simply is not done the same was as traditionally done. Many couples met in
school and married young. Finding a mate was easy with classmates and friends of classmates.
However, these day couples are not getting married as young as previous generations. With women
especially, students leave high school to pursue a career by attending college and traveling the world.
Today, young people are looking to experience all they can out of life while they are young therefore
the average age of a young American s first marriage is rising steadily. When a young American
begins to settle down by finding a career, buying a home and begin true adult responsibilities they are
finding that the only thing missing in their lives is someone to share it with. That is why online dating
has become attractive option for many reasons. Many adults have found great success dating online
however many have some outcomes that can be simply devastating. There are only some online sites
screen users and run them against a National Sex Offender Database, but some sites do not screen at
all which those are mostly the free sites. People face many different types of dangers when they are
associated with online dating as anyone can create a false profile. These false profiles or
misrepresentations of one s self lead to letdowns; predators and criminals use these sites to find
victims which

Hamlet And Ophelia Do Not Believe In Hamlet
Hamlet was written during a time of religious conflicts. The people of (figure out where they are from)
were living in confusion of what was real and what wasn t. William Shakespeare took this conflict and
created the famous play Hamlet. He created this to help people feel secure with what they believed in,
whether it was different from their neighbor s idea, or family members. Crediting Shakespeare for his
creativity of bringing forward insanity into the play brings a portrayal of what people could believe
and what others may not believe. At the end of the play, we see Hamlet s true feelings for Ophelia.
Comparing Hamlet and Ophelia, by observing their relationship, and seeing their similarities, could
one say they were meant to be? Crediting Shakespeare for his creativity of bringing forward insanity
into the play brings a portrayal of what people could believe and what others may not believe.
Analyzing Hamlet s and Ophelia s relationship, felt as if it were to be forbidden. Why is this? In the
beginning of the play, Act 1, Scene 3, Laerates and Ophelia had a conversion about Hamlet. Laerates

Analyzing the conversation of the ghost of Hamlet s father with Hamlet, Hamlet is pleaded to seek
vengeance for his father death. Hamlet swears to this plead causing him to pretend he has gone insane.
With Hamlet knowing the information the ghost told him, he began to speculate his mother s
relationship with Claudius. Did she help Claudius kill his father? Did Claudius kill Hamlet s father to
be with Gertrude? Hamlet felt pain and betrayal thinking this, causing him to actually become insane.
His insanity fabricated him to believe he was betrayed by his mother, coming to a sense of Ophelia
potentially hurting him as well. One can understand his questioning on women since he felt betrayed
by the women who gave birth to

Artificial Neural Networks And Predictive Policing
Sir, please come with me, we deny your access to this building based on the data we received, and we
need you to go through an interrogation with us. How would a person react if he/she is suspected to
commit a crime? How would that person feel if the police just randomly show up and ask for the
intention of whatever that makes him/her suspicious? This is what will happen, frequently, if artificial
neural networks are used as a mean for predictive policing. First, just to clarify, predictive policing is
seeking to prevent future harm and reduce crime rates by analyzing information and patrolling areas
based on the result. The police are able to predict when, where, and what crime is likely to happen
with the help of this emerging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People often think that if there s science that supports the systems, it would be accurate. However, the
information the systems take in is not just at all. In order to support my argument, I want to point out
that there are cases where colored people are in a disadvantage for more likely to be accused even
though the white are doing the same thing. For instance, the police has always targeted more on black
people than on white people on trafficking. Because the crimes that took place in the past are not in
favored of black people, there are more cases against them. Therefore, the systems sort through the
data and conclude that black people are more likely to commit the same type of crime, and suggesting
the police put more attention on them. If the read in information is not bias free, how can the
prediction be just to everyone? My second argument is that neural networks violate people s privacy
when they collect information from social media or any other means without their consent. Although
some predictive policing software only allow the police to predict the type, time, and location of a
crime, other police systems are used without protecting people s right for privacy. Our data, posts,
information, and pictures are being looked over by the predictive policing systems without us knowing
or agreeing upon it. Therefore, it is not fair for the police to search our

Formal Approach to Thomas Gray s Elegy (Eulogy) Written in a Country Churchyard
Thomas Gray s poem Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard is a very structured poem with a set
number of lines per stanza, and a specific rhyme scheme throughout the entire poem. The poem
focuses on Gray s thoughts while he visits a country churchyard, and ends with an epitaph written on
one of the tombstones in the churchyard. The setting of a country churchyard automatically gives way
to a small and unknown graveyard, and those that inhabit the graveyard are not going to be well
known people in the community or in American history. Gray s form and style allow for the reader to
see the churchyard he is in, and the metaphors and symbolism he uses open ... Show more content on

Gray uses not only the form of the poem as symbolism, but he also uses the text to evoke images into
the reader minds. Where heaves the turf in many a mould ring heap... (14). Grey s word choice in this
line evokes an image of the graveyard and the different plots around him, and the aging of each of the
graves in the graveyard. The molding of the plots gives the image of a piece of bread that has aged and
become green and black with the mold. Grey also uses metaphors to get across the message of the
poem:
Full many a gem of purest ray serene The dark unfathom d caves of ocean bear: Full many a flower is
born to blush unseen, And wastes its sweetness on the desert air.(53 56)
This stanza becomes one of the focal points of the entire elegy. It is taking the metaphor of a bright
object hidden behind a larger darker object. This metaphor shows that in life that the greatest things in
life might never be seen or experienced, because they are never noticed or are so hidden from society
so they will never become a part of society. This holds true for the greatest things in life whether it is a
flower, gem, or person. Those things will not be noticed by society because they are so hidden in life
that no one ever takes the time to stop and realize the beauty or full potential of that object.
The point of view in the poem is form Gray s perspective as to what

Anna Sofia Martin s The Undetected Influence Of Gen X
Generations After interviewing my grandmother I discovered that she is a child of the great
depression. Her father was in the Army and served in France, leaving her and her mother here in the
state of Kentucky in a small community with little to no means of income to fend for themselves. My
grandmother describes this era as a time of difficulty, uncertainty, and heartfelt hurt due to the fact that
her father was gone and her mother had little or no education in order to help support them. My great
grandmother worked in a local supermarket to provide food for them. Clothes were something that she
did not worry about thinking about. She explained that her attire consisted of dresses that were made

Italy s Political And Economic On Going Crisis
Question 1 Italy will be hosting a Renzi fied constitutional referendum this upcoming 4th of
December and expect their voters to decide whether they approve of altering the constitution to
restructure the legislative process by effectively reducing the upper chamber s power.
Constitutional reform, with an exact motive to deprive the Senate of power, has been a desired goal
since WW2. Italy s political and economic on going crisis has incentivized the Parliament to
implement new enactments and thus far none of these laws have been effectively executed because of
the legislatures intracameral conflict. Italy s method of navette has failed to resolve policy differences
within the legislature with a never ending shuttle back and forth and thus has held the country captive
in an ungovernable state. Ergo, Renzi believes the right path in his plan to stabilize the government is
to change Italy s 56 year old constitution.
Italy s parliament is structured under a symmetrical bicameral legislature with two chambers:
Chamber of Deputies(hereafter referred to as lower house) and the Senate of the Republic(upper
house). In order for a bill to be implemented, both houses have to approve the bill similarly, therefore
without the confidence of both houses, attempts at implementing laws will continuously fail. Italy s
bicameral system is placed in the upper left of the two dimensional chart because of the Senate s
position as a frail political actor, therefore marking its system as

Hawaiian Hula Dancing
The strong presence of military occupation resulted from a bottom up process in which settler s
desires for the economic prosperity and opportunity compelled them to migrate and stake their claim
to these territories. Interactions between the local Hawaiians, international tourists, and the US
military shaped the theory of settler colonialism. Trask writes Just five hours away by plane from
California, Hawai i is a thousand light years away in fantasy . She continues saying Hawai i is the
image of escape from the rawness and violence of daily American life. Hawai i the word, the vision,
the sound in the mind is the fragrance and feel of soft kindness. Above all, Hawai i is she , the Western

Perpetuating Hawaiian hula dancers as a feminine, yet immoral, and concurrently portraying
American men as respectable and honorable demonstrates the influence of American presence in the
Hawaiian Islands. The exotification of hula dancing as a function of the white male gaze facilitated
settler colonialism. Hula dancers, as an example of sexual violence and exploitation, behave in a
manner that is smutty and salacious rather than powerfully erotic. The distance between the smutty
and the erotic is precisely the distance between Western culture and Hawaiian culture (Trask, 191).
Among military men, the mere act of cultural and sexual expression is translated into pleasurable
entertainment for the male consumer. In turn, the cost of turning hula dancing into accessible
entertainment allows military men to establish their superiority and dominance by marginalizing
Hawaiian women who are seen as weak and submissive entertainers. An ancient form of dance with
deep spiritual meaning, has been made ornamental, a form of exotica for the white male

Richard Hoover Little Miss Sunshine
Little Miss Sunshine
Little Miss Sunshine directed by Valerie Faris and Jonathon Dayton, is a film about the dysfunctional
Hoover family, who along their journey to California, learn that supporting their family is more
important than personal success. The director s purpose was to show the audience that people cannot
be defined as winners or losers. Instead it was to demonstrate how family relationships are important
for our own happiness. A character who was used to develop this message was Richard Hoover. In the
beginning of the film, Richard is all about winning and following his 9 step plan on being a winner .

sequined dress with big poofy hair, makes Richard realise that Olive is not like those girls and she has
no chance of winning. This realisation makes him question his own beliefs. He goes back stage where
he and Dwayne tell Sheryl that they don t want Olive to go on stage. A two shot of Dwayne and
Richard standing together, draws attention to how these two characters, who never seem to get along,
are now working together to protect Olive. This makes the viewer aware that Richard has changed, as
he is more focused on being a father and protecting Olive than he has been throughout the film. He no
longer cares about Olive winning a beauty pageant. When Olive performs her scandalous dance,
Richard is the first one to go on stage to support and protect her. A shaky, hand held camera is used
when Richard runs onto the stage, emphasizing the spontaneous decision. This positions the viewer to
feel impressed at how Richard is protecting his daughter. Richard dances on stage in an embarrassing
act of failure; he is willing to be a loser if it means supporting Olive. From Richards act of support the
audience is reminded that family and accepting who you are, is important for our own

Dormant Commerce Clause
The decision of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals should be affirmed. The state of Eastland s waste
disposal regulation is neither discriminatory nor protectionist. Historically, businesses and
professionals know that licensing requirements and authority belongs solely to states and local
governments. A state government does not violate the commerce clause when it sets licensing
requirements for incineration and interment of fetal tissues pursuant to its autonomy and police

A state or local authority does not necessarily violate the commerce clause when having created a
market through a state funded program requires out of staters to pay a minimal percentage as their fair
share to participate in the program. McBurney v. Young, 133 S. Ct. 1709 (2013). While this
requirement might seem protectionist in a loose sense, it simply reflects the fundamental function of a
state government to maintain an even handed and fair access to state services for the benefit of all
residents. The fee in question is to be applied to an activity with a substantial nexus with Eastland, it is
minimal and fairly apportioned, and it is nondiscriminatory. Furthermore, there is an undeniable
rational relationship between the fee and the activity covered. Trinova Corp. v. Mich. Dep t of
Treasury, 498 U.S. 358 (1991). The citizens of Eastland has already paid their fair quota through the
state tax, which out of staters did not pay. It is only fair that they contribute their fair share to benefit
from the program. Additionally, the money will cover the extra cost necessary to maintain the routine
and proper inspection of the out of state disposal services. Even if, concededly, there is any burden on

Reflection Paper On Drills
When I was assigned as the Assistant Convoy Commander, while deployed in Iraq, my duties were
comprised of giving the mission operations brief before convoys, after action reviews (AAR), teaching
battle drills, rollover drills, vehicle recovery, reaction to Improvised Explosive Device (IED), reaction
to small arms fire, and additional weapon maintenance. (11. BNOCC I and Phase II, and ANOCC, and
5. Drill Sergeant School). In battle drills I taught the proper actions to take in different situations for
battle. Rollover drills class consisted of how to basically protect yourself as the vehicle is rolling. This
drill was practiced until it was second nature and consisted of bracing techniques and how to extract
yourself from the rolled vehicle. In vehicle recovery, my soldiers learned how to do combat recovery
of a vehicle in a hostile environment. (12. Combat Action Badge and 14.Bronze Star Medal).
Communication related to the reaction of the IED s include communicating with those in the vehicle,
to check for injuries. If there were injuries we formed a perimeter, secured the area, and called for
medical evacuation. If there were no injuries, we established if the vehicle was okay to drive, checked
with the others in the convoy for injuries and disabled vehicles. My job was ensuring the safety of our
people, and those we were transporting to their destination. Our mission was to keep them out of harm
s way, not to engage, but to keep moving. We only stopped

Single Parents And Socioeconomic Status
Background Information Children who are raised from birth in two parent families have better
cogitative and behavioral outcomes compared with children who have ever lived in single parent
families, more than 80% of which are headed by single mothers (Jaffe, Moffitt Taylor, 2003, pg. 109).
Children develop a different personality development when they grow up with no Father or with a
father. The percentage is higher than 50% of people who are single mothers and may be increasing.
The socioeconomic status plays an important role because single mothers have lower educational
attainment, less social support, and poorer psychological well being (Jaffe, Moffitt Capsi, 2003, pg.
109). On the other hand, two parent have a better socioeconomic status and their children have better
educational achievement and adjustment because the kids have the support of both of their parents and
the two parents are supporting each other to give the best for their kids (Jaffe, Moffitt, Taylor, 2003,
pg. 109).
One candidate psychological feature which might mediate a relationship between father absence and
early coitus is impulsivity. Impulsivity has been linked not only with aggressive behavior, but also
with willingness to engage in casual sex with multiple partners (Boothroyd Cross, 2017, pg. 2). The
Father absence may play different roles for each gender. When a child who is a boy grows up, they
could become aggressive or may think in a feminine way. According to Boothroyd and

  • 2. Why Is Tony Harding Unfair Everyone here has heard something about the biggest figure skating scandal there was in the world. Whether you saw the new movie starring Margot Robbie or heard in recent months on the news about this event that took place twenty years ago. I am talking about Tonya Harding. She was a curvy, blonde, woman who was rather poor. Over the many years of her skating career many people in The United States Figure Skating Association have tried to ostracize Tonya from the skating community because she chose music she wanted and was different. I think Tonya Harding was tried unfairly because she was not the ideal female skater at the time because of her weight, because she was female, and because she was poor. First a little backstory, Tonya Harding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a recent documentary it was noted that anyone who proceeded to skate with Tonya would have to resign from the United States Figure Skating Association. The United States Figure Skating Association ostracized Tonya from the rest of the community. Tonya Harding s relationship with Jeff Gillooly, was an abusive one, but she kept coming back to him. She says in interviews that he always saying the right things to get me back, and I d be stupid enough to go back and get beat up again. Jeff Gillooly was not the only abusive person in her life. Her mother was also abusive. Tonya Harding came from an abusive family that did not have a lot of money. Tonya Harding could not afford to get private ice the same as Nancy Kerrigan did. Even after proceeding to get second place at the 1994 Olympics Kerrigan made many mistakes such as talking rudely about Oksana Baiul who had won first place that year. and the Disneyland Parade float she was on calling it corny and stupid . To today Kerrigan who was an ideal female figure skater was forgiven for her mistakes that she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of In The Studio Poem Savona Huff Mrs. Barnes Art 111 29th September, 2017 Art is another form of language, that artists use to explain something or express their feelings. I believe that through art, communication is more passionate and thoughtful. In paintings, artist have their own techniques in which they use to convey the messages in their work. The piece In the Studio c by William Merritt Chase 1889 1916, he connects with his viewers through expression of lines, space and depth, light and color, texture and design. This painting was also donated by Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation, ARCA Forsyth 1967 2.4. Viewing the painting, I found that William uses a variety of lines. I found a good amount of thick and thin contoured line in the body and the clothing of the woman sitting in the chair. Contoured lines help to add volume and to mold into something. The pure contour lines in the woman chest helps her character appear more feminine, as well as the curvy and thin lines in her dress and shoes. The curved outline in her body gives a visual gesture and communicates body language. We all know that body language is a nonverbal form of communication, it can say a lot, and cause different reactions. The artist incorporated implied line in the figures painted on the dresser. The Buddha statue appears to be looking down at the women, and the man looking statue appears to be looking away from the woman. This puts the focal point on the woman. She also has implied lines that makes her appear to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Influence Of Zoonosis It appears that zoonosis has added another means of infecting humans to its arsenal. A veterinarian at a New York City animal shelter where cats were infected with a strain of bird flu was also infected by the strain of flu that the cats had. As we all know zoonosis is a disease that can be transmitted to humans from animals. In this case it was the cats housed in the shelter. Fortunately, as reported by the New York City health department, only the veterinarian was infected. The vet only had a mild illness from the virus, called H7N2. More than 160 Animal Care Centers of NYC employees and volunteers, including several people who had similar exposure to sick cats, were screened by the Health Department and not found to have an infection with the H7N2 virus, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Normally we think of zoonosis origins that are associated with the production of food. This case is slightly different because felines are not part of the usual American diet. However, there are several conditions that fostered a favorable habitat for a zoonotic event to occur. The first stage no doubt began with much earlier events, perhaps when pigs first caught the flu and infected humans. In turn people infected pigs with the flu. Each brewed a unique and mutated version of the virus to spread to the next host. The second stage possibly began with the central housing of multiple felines from assorted origins and with varied health conditions. These animals once adopted are distributed into a wide geographical into homes of owners who interact in close proximity of their pet, and come in contact with body fluids and fecal matter of their pets. In addition to the other variables, the people who receive these pets have a wind range of overall levels of health too. This formula creates a perfect equation for the door to open for the next emergence of a new pandemic strain to seize the lives of humans and felines ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Conditions Of The Marine Environment Introduction: The conditions of the marine environment place special demands on the design and use of a camera (ERT Task Sheet, 2015). An average above surface camera cannot simply be made waterproof using a camera housing in order to operate effectively underwater. There are special demands created by various aspects of the marine environment for example, the lens must be designed specifically to recorrect the distortion created by refraction and strobes must be placed away from the camera to avoid backscatter. Refraction mainly occurs when underwater photographers use a flat port (Deep Ocean Diving Underwater vision, n.d.). These factors would be the reason as to why the camera would not produce accurate or high quality photographs of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to calculate the refractive index, this formula will be used: n_(1 2)=n_2/n_1 . For medium 1, n_1 is the absolute refractive index and for medium 2, n_2 is the absolute refractive index (Refraction of Light, 2015). When a light ray enters different medium, all molecules in that medium absorbs the light and re emits it. This is why the light ray take longer to pass through. The more molecules the more time the light will be absorbed and re emitted and therefore the longer it will take to pass through. Due to this difference in densities and amount of time the light ray takes to pass through, refraction occurs. This is when the light ray bends when it travels through two different mediums. This affects underwater photography as refraction occurs and the object is distorted (Underwater Holdings, 2015). Optical Underwater Issue: Refraction in Waterproof Camera Housing Underwater Figure 2: Flat Port and Dome Port Underwater Refraction is one of the major issues when it comes to underwater photography. Refraction is the apparent change in the speed of the light ray which results to a change in the direction of the ray (Kwon, 2015). Once light travels from air to water, it slows down as it come across the denser medium. This is a problem if all light rays could cross the dividing line at right angles. Refraction can be encountered when light travels from air to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Effect Of Plasma On The Membrane Performance Introduction When put under stress, at some point materials begin to decline and perform poorly. Cell membranes are no different. The specific design and structure of plasma membranes allows for the regular function of cells through transportation, facilitating reactions, and several other tasks carried out by the cell membrane and endomembrane system. When put under physical or chemical stress, however, the plasma membrane begins to falter and will eventually become unable to perform its tasks, which are necessary to cell life. Using beet root tissue, the relationship between membrane performance and temperature was tested. 3 samples of beet were prepared and placed in a 50% methanol solution and exposed to temperatures above, below, and at room temperature. The membrane s performance in repelling an unwanted solution in adverse conditions was measured by the amount of damaged membranes, which resulted in increases in released pigments. This lab s hypothesis is: varying temperature will have an inverse effect on the membrane performance. The membrane will perform more poorly under increased heat than increased cold, but both changes in temperature will negatively affect the performance of the membrane. This will be measured by amount of light reflected by the spectrophotometer, reflecting how much pigment was given off, and therefore how many membranes were compromised. The independent variable is the temperature the sample is put through, and the controlled variables ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Character Rank In Society in The Canterbury Tales by Chaucer The Canterbury Tales can be understood as a Chaucerian satire according many readers. Chaucer sets out to deliberately upset the social order present at that time and to mock the faults present in the characters. Although he baffles about the complexity of the characters, Chaucer also praises and condemns characters for their unique qualities. Chaucer further gives us feedback of what actions the characters are taking in their lives. Many of the pilgrims are headed off to Canterbury, to worship the relics of Saint Thomas Becket. Thomas Becket was murdered by his friend King Henry and soon Canterbury became a pilgrimage site for people to pray for their healings. As for Chaucer, he observed both high and lower social class to get a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Line 73) The Knight, according to Chaucer takes the code of chivalry very seriously and straight forth. He based his values on the code of chivalry and doesn t intend to break it. His attire also contributes to why Chaucer thinks highly of him. His clothes are made from a coarse cloth and his coat is rust stained. We can infer that the Knight isn t very wealthy but regardless, when compared to the other characters, he lives the best life of all. The Merchant is a high figure in society because he is a part of the wealthy class. Although he may seem unmoral because being part of the wealthy class, Chaucer s perception is very different. Chaucer believed he was a worthy man because he governed all [his] trade affairs well. (Lines 282 283) Chaucer admires the way the Merchant handles his business, doing what it takes to get his job done. He borrows money and disguises himself well if and never he is in debt. Looking at the Merchant physically, we can see that he has nice things such as his elegant boots [and] Flemish beaver hat. (Lines 272 273) Again, it seems as though he cares immensely over material possession, but he does it to look more sophisticated in his business plans. Even though the Merchant is already classified a member of the higher class, Chaucer also puts him in the higher ranks because of his intelligence in trade and business. Chaucer s principle ... • 10. Goldman Sachs Case It was announced Friday April 16, 2010 that Goldman Sachs is now under review by the SEC regarding fraudulent practices. The short of it is that Goldman Sachs may have been one of the biggest players in the sub prime mortgage decline, due to their lending of these types of loans. An investigation is being launched to see if and how they may have defrauded customers. Unfortunately, the investigation is going to take time, so anyone who had dealings with Goldman Sachs is not going to find an instant decision that betters their life. If someone had a mortgage from this company or somehow through the company, it may be possible to get some sort of reparation. While you wait, you might be thinking about payday loans and what a cash advance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The question is, Is this the right decision? Should you be betting your personal finances on loans that are considered every bit as bad as a fraudulent mortgage company loan? Here is why you might want to avoid the payday loans if you are in dire debt troubles. A payday loan is a short term loan with little regulation. In other words, the companies have found a loop hole that allows them to charge you high interests in a short period of time. There is also a fee associated with the cash advance. If you are in a situation where you cannot pay the loan back on the due date, and in full, you are just creating more debt for yourself. On the other hand, if it is possible to pay it all back and avoid the hefty interest fees, it could be a sound decision to get you through the month. The reality is that most individuals seeking payday loans are already behind in payments and obtaining this type of loan could make it even worse. You have other personal finance decisions you could make. You could seek a debt consolidation loan through a bank or consolidation loan company. You could sell your car to raise the needed ... Both groups help impressions of each other that influenced how they interacted together. During the Native and French encounters in Black Robe, it was apparent that Natives viewed the French as incompetent, weak, but also interesting; the French had their own impressions that the Natives were savages and in need of salvation. It is with the Algonquins that one can see the interest they held in their view of the French. In Black Robe, there is a scene with the Natives sitting in a church like building watching a clock. From beginning to end, any mention of the Natives by the French was usually linked to the word savages. This was shown in several scenes in the film. Towards the beginning, before Father Laforgue and Daniel leave on the Hurons mission, two men are talking to one another about how they would not go on such a mission with savages. Another example of this reference is near the end of the film when Father Laforgue finds Father Jerome in the Huron village and even Father Jerome refers to the ailing Natives as savages when speaking about them. Father Laforgue s mission in the film clearly represents the French s view that Natives were in need of salvation. Father Laforgue s main goal throughout the film was to convert or save the Natives (the Algonquins and Hurons) and have them believe in Christianity. A great example of this is during the scene of Chomina s death. Even as he is dying, Father Laforgue begs him to allow himself to be baptized and saved in order to attain Christian paradise. Chomina s response to this no, because he says his family will not be there. This assumes that (1) AMT won t be triggered and (2) you ll get low long term capital gains rate by holding the stock for the appropriate holding periods. However, often you either run afoul of the AMT trap, or don t hold the stock long enough with the complicated 1 year + 2 year requirement, or the spread at exercise is zero or small, so the difference wouldn t matter anyway. NSOs do have a slightly higher tax because of the employment taxes. Overall, it s not clear the ISO is that much better for employees, so many people argue for NSOs instead. Even more confusingly, ISOs can make it harder to meet the long term capital gains holding period. Many people expect early exercise together with an 83(b) election will help them hold the stock longer, to qualify for long term capital gains. While this is true for NSOs, there is a murky part of the rules on ISOs that implies that even with an 83(b) election, the capital gain holding period does not begin until the shares actually vest. So, if you want to immediately exercise an option and file an Section 83(b) election, and you might have liquidity soon, it s better if you can have it be an NSO. The Citizens Council was running the state because it involved many political leaders, those in charge of voting registration, the police force, and mass amounts of citizens. Efforts were made by bold African Americans to increase the number of black voters in Mississippi, but people were too afraid to challenge the white community and those that did try to register to vote were simply denied. The second flawed premise in the argument is that PHD students are more likely than not, part of that single minded culture. In this case, Coleman is saying that all PHDs are of the same type, their only aim is money and glory. Coleman uses hasty generalization and genetic fallacy to support it, which are both faulty logics. First of all, hasty generalization can be observed as Coleman reasons that because he got his PHD, all other PHDs must be like him, which follows that since all PHDs he knows are single minded, all PHDs must also be single minded. This generalization in itself is shaky since the sample group of students is far too small to be used as a generalization of the whole population. • 22. Red Dog Film Analysis The world is a funny place, no? Sometimes you pick your dog. Sometimes your dog picks you. Good morning ladies and gentlemen for the AFC, and the quote you have just heard is from the Australian film Red dog and is stated to be one of the most powerful quotes in Australian theatre. Australian film has been around for many years and of those years there have been many examples of what some might like to call a masterpiece. Some of these films include the Mad Max series, Gallipoli, Crocodile Dundee but of these films, the film that stands out the most to audiences is the movie Red dog. Red dog is directed by Australian producer Kriv Stenders and was made in 2011. The story takes place during the 1970 s so one would expect to view various counts of racism and sexism but there was no evidense of these themes ever showing as the dialogue had been written for a G rating. It was as if the whole production has had its mouth washed out with soap by there mother for cursing. The reason this film was successful to most was because of the message it portrayed as the movie was based around a young Australian Kelpie named Red dog and how he united a fractured community while searching for his master. The movie is highly regarded today as of the best Australian films as it brings all Australian values to the table. The main reason for the audiences love for this film is because of its portrayal of a character s loyalty, mateship and the Australian Landscape and this is what occurs throughout the film. Mateship is a big part of Australian culture as us as Australians live and breathe the words of friendship and that is why this film is so successful, because it brought an un unlikely hero and made the character bond with an entire town. As Australians, we love a good animal story and due to the bond between the main character John and his companion Red dog was so strong it was as if the pair were inseparable. The Australian notion of mateships is portrayed in the film when the character Joko is talking about the type of man that should have a statue for all to admire as he states It should be somebody who lives and breathes desolation, somebody that has red dust stuck up their nose and in their eyes and in their ears ... In order to support my argument, I want to point out that there are cases where colored people are in a disadvantage for more likely to be accused even though the white are doing the same thing. For instance, the police has always targeted more on black people than on white people on trafficking. Because the crimes that took place in the past are not in favored of black people, there are more cases against them. Therefore, the systems sort through the data and conclude that black people are more likely to commit the same type of crime, and suggesting the police put more attention on them. If the read in information is not bias free, how can the prediction be just to everyone? My second argument is that neural networks violate people s privacy when they collect information from social media or any other means without their consent. • 28. Italy s Political And Economic On Going Crisis Question 1 Italy will be hosting a Renzi fied constitutional referendum this upcoming 4th of December and expect their voters to decide whether they approve of altering the constitution to restructure the legislative process by effectively reducing the upper chamber s power. Constitutional reform, with an exact motive to deprive the Senate of power, has been a desired goal since WW2. Italy s political and economic on going crisis has incentivized the Parliament to implement new enactments and thus far none of these laws have been effectively executed because of the legislatures intracameral conflict. Italy s method of navette has failed to resolve policy differences within the legislature with a never ending shuttle back and forth and thus has held the country captive in an ungovernable state. Ergo, Renzi believes the right path in his plan to stabilize the government is to change Italy s 56 year old constitution. Italy s parliament is structured under a symmetrical bicameral legislature with two chambers: Chamber of Deputies(hereafter referred to as lower house) and the Senate of the Republic(upper house). In order for a bill to be implemented, both houses have to approve the bill similarly, therefore without the confidence of both houses, attempts at implementing laws will continuously fail. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perpetuating Hawaiian hula dancers as a feminine, yet immoral, and concurrently portraying American men as respectable and honorable demonstrates the influence of American presence in the Hawaiian Islands. The exotification of hula dancing as a function of the white male gaze facilitated settler colonialism. Hula dancers, as an example of sexual violence and exploitation, behave in a manner that is smutty and salacious rather than powerfully erotic. The distance between the smutty and the erotic is precisely the distance between Western culture and Hawaiian culture (Trask, 191). Among military men, the mere act of cultural and sexual expression is translated into pleasurable entertainment for the male consumer. In turn, the cost of turning hula dancing into accessible entertainment allows military men to establish their superiority and dominance by marginalizing Hawaiian women who are seen as weak and submissive entertainers. Richard Hoover Little Miss Sunshine Little Miss Sunshine Little Miss Sunshine directed by Valerie Faris and Jonathon Dayton, is a film about the dysfunctional Hoover family, who along their journey to California, learn that supporting their family is more important than personal success. Richard wants Olive to be happy, and while watching the other girls go on stage, dressed in pretty sequined dress with big poofy hair, makes Richard realise that Olive is not like those girls and she has no chance of winning. This realisation makes him question his own beliefs. He goes back stage where he and Dwayne tell Sheryl that they don t want Olive to go on stage. A two shot of Dwayne and Richard standing together, draws attention to how these two characters, who never seem to get along, are now working together to protect Olive. This makes the viewer aware that Richard has changed, as he is more focused on being a father and protecting Olive than he has been throughout the film. He no longer cares about Olive winning a beauty pageant. When Olive performs her scandalous dance, Richard is the first one to go on stage to support and protect her. A shaky, hand held camera is used when Richard runs onto the stage, emphasizing the spontaneous decision. This positions the viewer to feel impressed at how Richard is protecting his daughter. Richard dances on stage in an embarrassing act of failure; he is willing to be a loser if it means supporting Olive. How Do Tattoos Affect Society Tattoos in Society Even though tattoos are sometimes viewed as unprofessional and offensive, tattoos are just a form of art because tattoos should not hinder someone from anything in life and people with tattoos are just as human as everyone else.Tattoos have been around for a long time and have always been a subject that causes conflicts and contradictions, both negatively and positively. Some companies do not allow their employees to have visible tattoos, some do. There are jobs out there that are strict with the dress code and grooming conduct. Historically, businesses and professionals know that licensing requirements and authority belongs solely to states and local governments. A state government does not violate the commerce clause when it sets licensing requirements for incineration and interment of fetal tissues pursuant to its autonomy and police powers in carrying out local activities that has always been its traditional functions to ensure the health and safety of its citizens. A state or local authority does not necessarily violate the commerce clause when having created a market through a state funded program requires out of staters to pay a minimal percentage as their fair share to participate in the program. McBurney v. Young, 133 S. Ct. 1709 (2013). While this requirement might seem protectionist in a loose sense, it simply reflects the fundamental function of a state government to maintain an even handed and fair access to state services for the benefit of all residents. The fee in question is to be applied to an activity with a substantial nexus with Eastland, it is minimal and fairly apportioned, and it is nondiscriminatory. Furthermore, there is an undeniable rational relationship between the fee and the activity covered. Trinova Corp. v. Mich. Dep t of Treasury, 498 U.S. 358 (1991). The citizens of Eastland has already paid their fair quota through the state tax, which out of staters did not pay. It is only fair that they contribute their fair share to benefit from the program. Additionally, the money will cover the extra cost necessary to maintain the routine and proper inspection of the out of state disposal services. • 35. Reflection Paper On Drills When I was assigned as the Assistant Convoy Commander, while deployed in Iraq, my duties were comprised of giving the mission operations brief before convoys, after action reviews (AAR), teaching battle drills, rollover drills, vehicle recovery, reaction to Improvised Explosive Device (IED), reaction to small arms fire, and additional weapon maintenance. (11. BNOCC I and Phase II, and ANOCC, and 5. Drill Sergeant School). In battle drills I taught the proper actions to take in different situations for battle. Rollover drills class consisted of how to basically protect yourself as the vehicle is rolling. This drill was practiced until it was second nature and consisted of bracing techniques and how to extract yourself from the rolled vehicle. In vehicle recovery, my soldiers learned how to do combat recovery of a vehicle in a hostile environment. (12. Combat Action Badge and 14.Bronze Star Medal). Communication related to the reaction of the IED s include communicating with those in the vehicle, to check for injuries. If there were injuries we formed a perimeter, secured the area, and called for medical evacuation. If there were no injuries, we established if the vehicle was okay to drive, checked with the others in the convoy for injuries and disabled vehicles. My job was ensuring the safety of our people, and those we were transporting to their destination. Our mission was to keep them out of harm s way, not to engage, but to keep moving. • 36. Single Parents And Socioeconomic Status Background Information Children who are raised from birth in two parent families have better cogitative and behavioral outcomes compared with children who have ever lived in single parent families, more than 80% of which are headed by single mothers (Jaffe, Moffitt Taylor, 2003, pg. 109). Children develop a different personality development when they grow up with no Father or with a father. The percentage is higher than 50% of people who are single mothers and may be increasing. The socioeconomic status plays an important role because single mothers have lower educational attainment, less social support, and poorer psychological well being (Jaffe, Moffitt Capsi, 2003, pg. 109). On the other hand, two parent have a better socioeconomic status and their children have better educational achievement and adjustment because the kids have the support of both of their parents and the two parents are supporting each other to give the best for their kids (Jaffe, Moffitt, Taylor, 2003, pg. 109). One candidate psychological feature which might mediate a relationship between father absence and early coitus is impulsivity. Impulsivity has been linked not only with aggressive behavior, but also with willingness to engage in casual sex with multiple partners (Boothroyd Cross, 2017, pg. 2). The Father absence may play different roles for each gender. When a child who is a boy grows up, they could become aggressive or may think in a feminine way. According to Boothroyd and ...
