Advantages And Disadvantages Of Kidney Dialysis Machine
KIDNEY DIALYSIS MACHINE: A INVENTION OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING
Kidney dialysis machines often called as artificial kidneys are used to treat patients who have lost
their kidneys during an accident or diseases they suffered.
PRINCIPLE the machine is a mass transfer device that cleanses patient s blood to remove dirty salts,
excess fluids and metabolic waste products. The dialyser is a large tank that contains thousands of
small membrane fibres. During the use of dialyser patient s blood is passed through these membrane
fibres, where it works as a cleansing fluid that helps to separate unwanted constituents from the
blood, once this is complete clean blood is returned to the body. Chemical engineers uses mass
transport phenomena and diffusion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To increase both safety and to make drug delivery easy within the body, chemical engineering and
biomedical communities have devised a variety of improved drug delivery techniques. To design
methods that can guarantee the delivery of precise, dosages to minimize the risk for overdose or
insufficient dosing are some of the challenges of chemical engineers. A chemical engineer Robert
Langer, and his colleagues discovered that when there is mixing of hydrophobic polymers such as
ethylene acetate and lactic glycolic acid under appropriate conditions, highly porous structures can be
formed by which specific molecules can be released for hundred days. In recent years targeted drug
delivery has become an issue of discovery in biomedical and chemical engineering departments.
Principle of chemical engineering related to polymer processing, diffusion and mass transfer
phenomena have played an integral part in the design development, manufacture and use of novel
drug delivery vehicles which are based on biocompatible, biodegradable polymers.

The functionalists approach explains or support the idea that each part is important for the progress
and function of the society as a whole. The Interactionist Perspective mainly focuses in the individual
actions with each other in a daily basis and what their actions means. The emphasis on everyday
behavior is the focus on Interactionist perspective which offers two explanations of crime; Cultural
Transmission and Routine Activities Theory. (Schaefer, 2010, p175) Cultural Transmission could be
interpreted as the way that humans passes their culture and set of values from one generation to next
one within a society, since the culture is something that is learn through the interaction of individuals
in social situations. Cultural transmission does not have anything to do with genetics instead it is the
way in which people interact with others. The term Differential Association was used by Edwin
Sutherland to describe the process through which exposure to attitude leads to the violations of rules
Research also adds to non criminal deviant acts such as smoking, truancy and early sexual behavior
(Schaefer, 2010, p175). For instance, if a girl meets with other girls that demonstrate bad habits like
go to malls and robber in the stores things like earrings, small accessories sooner or later she will
commit the same actions. Lastly, Conflict Theory supports the idea that it is necessary inequality
among groups (powerful economic class and lower class) in the

Media Kill Anthropology
An image captures a person s physical attributes, but others subject the image to flawed
interpretations. When the media defamed the Syrian s dignity, the Abounaddara collective started
producing videos to convey the proper way of representing their people. The combination of the
Abounaddara exhibition and the articles written about the collective trigger many dormant and
undeveloped ideas. For one thing, this combination elicits ideas that relate to media and a person s
image. In media, a need to fulfill a voyeuristic nature in humans establishes itself as an issue through
the Abounaddara s videos, Media Kill and Kill Them!. In addition, this voyeuristic element involving
the electronic image can associate itself with Chris Burden s Velvet ... Show more content on

When examining the media, their consistent flawed representations speak volumes, especially with the
Syrians. The Abounaddara collective started creating videos to speak for the people of Syria because
the media s representations belittled them. Evidence from the exhibit and articles about the
Abounaddara collective contribute to the ideas pertaining to the voyeuristic and pornographic ways of
the media. Media Kill and Kill Them! expresses Abounaddara s disdain for the media and its method.
Not only do those methods convey the media s selfish intentions, but also demonstrates a voyeuristic
need within humans. Even, Chris Burden s popularity proves a voyeuristic because the need to watch
him complete such terrorizing acts. The evidence also engenders the idea that revolves around how
individuals can create flawed interpretations of their own images. With Peter Campus experiment, the
focus on the self provides a message of an inner self hiding away before its notice and can

Dealing with My Mom s Pancreatic Cancer
My mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer stage IV last July. I could believe what was happening

We became angry because we thought that my mom didn t deserved that. The doctors were confident,
even though stage IV of pancreatic cancer has 1% of survival rate in the US. In addition to that, my
mom s tumor couldn t be removed because the cancer spread to distant organs. I tried to find out
everything I could about my cancer. When I first browsed pancreatic cancer on the internet, I got
worried. The results, news and statistics are scary, I tried to keep a positive mind and told myself that I

and that gave her a positive mind.
My mom started chemotherapy in october 2013. She needed six cycles of two chemos every two
weeks. Although she felt weak, sick and her nervous system got affected, she successfully completed

Alexander IIi Of King Of Ancient Greece
Alexander III of Macedon or commonly known as Alexander the Great was a King of Ancient Greek
kingdom Macedon and a member of the Argead dynasty. He spent most of his ruling years on an
extraordinary military campaign through Asia and northeast Africa and by the time he was 30 he had
created one of the largest empires of the Ancient world, stretching from Greece to Egypt and into
northwest India. Alexander is thought to be by most people as the greatest military command that ever
lived however this wasn t always the case. Many historians argue that Alexander was in fact the
opposite to what he perceived to be. This essay will essentially focus on the good and bad side of
Alexander s campaigns and through the study of various sources we will be able to determined the real
truth behind his leadership. The Persians and the Greeks had been at conflict for hundreds of years
before the time of Alexander. Ancient accounts say that Alexander was at war with both Persia and
their King Darius III and used the Persian Invasion of Greece in 5th century BC as an excuse for his
actions. Many of Alexanders greatest battles were fought against the Persians and is where the
ambitious young king began to conquer the known world. The first major battle that he won was the
Battle of the Granicus in 334 BC where he defeated a said 20,000 Persian horsemen and an equal
number of foot soldiers by Arrian. This was soon followed by another victory at the Battle of Isus in
333 BC led by their King

Texting Shortcuts No Threat For Children s Developing...
Texting shortcuts no threat to children s developing language skills, study finds This article from The
Mercury investigates a study conducted in collaboration with researchers in England and Tasmania.
The study examines the relationship between the use of texting language and language skills in young
students. There has been a general consensus that the overuse of electronic devices must impair the
language ability. However the research found no negative relationship between formal writing skills
and the use of textisms . Furthermore the study suggests that texting can actually have a positive
effect. The article suggests that the reason this study reached conclusions that differ from previous
studies was that this was the first time students were followed up on their formal test results a year
later . Topic 1: Research methods The procedure of the study was comprised of three components.
Firstly, participants were asked to complete a questionnaire in order to collect data about the
participant s texting habits and their demographic information (De Jonge Kemp, 2012). Next
participants were instructed to translate Standard English sentences from two lists into texting
language; one list was typed into their phone and the other was written on paper (De Jonge Kemp,
2012). Finally the participants were instructed to complete a literacy test in order to collect data on
their language, reading and spelling skills (De Jonge Kemp, 2012). A general trend showed that

Essay on Friar Lawrence
Friar Lawrence is a character in William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet that served as a mentor for
Romeo and Juliet, the two star crossed lovebirds. He served as a mentor and a friend throughout the
entire play, and because of it, his life was forever changed. In the beginning of the story, we meet the
friar and can see that he is a happy go lucky guy, frollicking through the fields and giving advice to
Romeo. However, the friar has to deal with quite a bit more than a two lovestruck teens, and it
changes him for the worse. By the end of Act V, all of the drama that had taken place had taken it s toll
on Friar Lawrence and he was very upset and seemed to have been broken by the events of the week.

Friar s loving and caring personality. As happens with most people when they carry a load that is too
much for them to bear, Friar Lawrence starts to break emotionally. His light hearted spirit disappeared
after a bloody battle between Romeo, Tybalt, and Mercutio, resulting in two murders. Romeo wallows
in the floor, moaning about his punishment, banishment, and the Friar has obviously had enough, for
he says, O deadly sin, O rude unthankfulness! Thy fault our law calls death, but the kind prince, taking
thy part, hath rushed aside the law and turned that black word death to banishment. This is dear mercy,
and thou seest it not. (Act III.iii.25 30) The kind spirit in Friar Lawrence has been worn out by the
stupidity of Romeo and it is easily noticeable due to the way that the friar speaks in attempt to get
Romeo to pick himself up off of the floor. Art thou a man? Thy form cries out thou art. Thy tears are
womanish; thy wild acts denote the unreasonable fury of a beast. Unseemingly woman in a seeming

How Is Portia Presented In Julius Caesarce
In Scene 1, Portia converses with the Prince of Morocco very politely and even invites him to dinner
before he chose the casket, which seems like she is in favour of having the Prince of Morocco as her
suitor. However, in Scene 7, after he chooses the wrong casket and leaves, Portia says A gentle
riddance , which shows us that she is very happy that the Prince of Morocco is not going to be her
husband.
Through these scenes, I learn about Portia s gracious character and her tact in using her appearance to
deceive her suitors. This is because she does not want to hurt the feelings of the suitors, but at the
same time, she is witty enough to dupe them, without them knowing that she is doing so. This reveals

The Conflicts Between Good and Evil Found in To Kill and Mockingbird by Harper Lee
In her book, To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee uses many different characters and parts of the plot to
show how deeply the conflict between good and evil can affect everyday life in a small Alabama town
in the 1930 s. The setting of her book is Maycomb, Alabama. Racism between white and black people
was a very big problem in Maycomb. The white people did not like the blacks and thought they were
bad people. The two main characters are Atticus Finch and Tom Robinson. Atticus is an important
lawyer, and he has two children, Scout and Jem. The conflict of racism explodes when Tom is set up

At first, the Sheriff acted like most of the people in the town, even though his conscience started to
bother him.
At the end of the book, Bob Ewell tried to hurt Scout and Jem in the forest because he wanted revenge
on Atticus. During Tom s trial, Atticus made Bob Ewell very angry at the questions he asked and the
evidence and Bob Ewell wanted revenge. Boo Radcliff killed Bob Ewell and the Sheriff saw it, but he
changed the story to say that it was an accident because he knew Bob Ewell was evil and that Boo was
a good man. The Sheriff s decision was another reminder about the titled of the book, To Kill a
Mockingbird because Boo was a Mockingbird character just like Tom.
Harper Lee also showed a conflict between good and evil by using the characters in her story. She
showed the conflict inside a man s own conscience when Atticus had the courage to stand up for Tom.
The Sheriff also had goodness in his heart when he decided to not tell anyone what he really saw when
the Boo Radley killed Bob Ewell. Another example of conflict within Atticus heart was his fear for his
children s safety versus his belief that it was the right thing to do to be Tom s

The Role Of Playing Game ( Mmorpg )
Runescape is one of the first massive multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) that many
gamers have started with. Released in 2001, there were no games like it out there for its time. For
many of us gamers, Runescape was the beginning of an amazing journey. The game was free to play
on your web browser, no download necessary. Once your account was created you were able to start
your adventure in the exploration of Runescape, there is no better game you can get lost in. Runescape
is the missing piece of achievement, adventure, and connection that you are searching for. The concept
of the game was revolutionary from the questing to the combat system. Players would have complete
control on what they wanted to do. There was a ray of activities such as what type of combat, crafting,
merchanting, cooking, mining, hunting, and many others. With each milestone you hit a player would
feel a sense of accomplishment. The longer it took to reach that goal the more satisfying it was. This
sense of achievement was what all of us craved. For many players this system of gameplay at this
level was never seen before. We were used to the console games such as Zelda or Super Mario that
had a set storyline to follow and a goal to reach, once completed the game was over. Unlike the typical
game of the time Runescape was a never ending story. There was always something to achieve and
conquer within the game setting it apart from Zelda and Super Mario. Each day there is always

Musical Exoticism In Britten s Death In Venice
Music 15: Paper #2 In the late nineteenth century, France forged a new path in music and ushered in
the practice of musical exoticism. Pieces, such as operas, began to be characterized by their use of
exotic elements including: music, makeup, clothing and props. Ralph P. Locke in, Musical Exoticism:
Images and Reflections, expanded upon this notion stating that the purpose of musical exoticism was
to evoke a place that is perceived as different from one s home (Locke, p.47). Elaborating from this
definition a spectrum of musical exoticism was contrived; with pure exoticism, intended to other the
exotic elements, and transcultural composing, intended to provide a hybrid of musical styles,
representing the two extremes on opposing ends (Locke, p.44, 228) . Benjamin Britten in his opera,
Death in Venice, uses exotic elements Gamelan music in a nontraditional sense that does not adhere
stringently to the conditions of pure exoticism or transcultural composing. Some pieces, such as
Britten s Death in Venice, blur the lines of distinction between each end of the musical exoticism
spectrum and are open to subjective interpretation by the listener. Thus, through analyzing the use of
exotic elements and their intended purpose in Britten s Death in Venice, it is my opinion that the piece
falls more in accordance with pure exoticism rather than transcultural composing, due to Britten s use
of the exotic elements to effectively other the homosexual attraction of opera s main character.
Musical exoticism is the use of non western elements in western music for the purpose of defining and
representing exotic elements or othering, that is to label a group or place as different from one s own
(Locke, p.45). Musical exoticism is a diverse genre, and pieces can adopt a variety of forms.
Therefore, musical exoticism is regarded as a spectrum rather than definitive categorization. On one
end of the spectrum is pure exoticism and on the other is transcultural composing. Pure exoticism is
used to represent an exotic subject through the use of othering that is to present a people, place or
group in contrast to the audience s home so that the audience perceives the exotic element as different
from themselves

How Does Lady Macbeth Affect The Jacobean
Fear is defined as an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous,
likely to cause pain, or a threat. Fear itself is terrifying, it leaves one feeling helpless; like they are left
with only one or no options. The rise of Hitler and the Holocaust rampaged because due to fear of a
Jewish Bolshevik conspiracy to take over the world. Fear has left the land of immigrants, the United
States of America, feeling as it need to put up tall walls. Fear makes people feel like they need to do

She is, and forever will be one of the most dominant female figures in literature. She depicts intensity,
moxie, ambition, and ruthlessness throughout the start of the play. Lady Macbeth is the epitome of
what King James I feared in women. King James feared women like Lady Macbeth because her power
came from within herself. She understood that she could achieve anything with or without anyone by
her side. He feared women who threatened the natural order, showed aggressive tendencies, and were
capable of being independent (Smith). Shakespeare used Lady Macbeth as a subtle imitation for the
historical women King James persecuted (Moir). The Weird Sisters used methods like image magic on
the world around them to injure. While others in Shakespeare s England were executed for witchcraft
that never engaged in any practices associated with witchcraft or magic at all (Smith). Lady Macbeth
did not need magic to persuade Macbeth to kill the king, she did that all herself. Her power hungry
self goes on to say, Glamis thou art, and Cawdor, and shalt be/ What thou art promised. Yet do I fear
thy nature;/ It is too full o th milk of human kindness To catch the nearest way. Thou wouldst be

the quote above she is explaining how even though her husband does not have the guts to kill Duncan,
he will be able to because he has her. Shakespeare understood that the women of the Jacobean era

How Important Is Having A Clear Process
How important is having a clear process in regards to informing a design outcome?
Setting up progressive goals and rules helps a designer in making everything more clearly and
efficiently, so as to achieve the anticipated and satisfactory design outcome. What designers need to do
is to first provide a rudimentary design map, covering different small processes, explaining what are
their specific operations as well as their importance in contributing to the final outcome. Secondly,
designers need to follow these preset processes, assuring each step is correctly followed. But on top of
that, they could definitely add in some spontaneous and creative personal ideas during the
implementation of the plan, which will hopefully make the project more like their own s, other than a
robotic, emotionless work.
In the first place, having a clear process enables designers to understand the concepts in greater depth.
This could later facilitate and guide the development and implementation of design projects. To
comprehend the topics, designers need to define the meanings of the topics, outline related fields and
think about the project purposes.
Our group was assigned to the topic boundaries (Bruce studio), which required us to determine and
understand the criteria in deciding whether an area is bound or unbound . To start with, we viewed
boundary as the line between the space we live inside and outside. We developed a model and used

Music Final Essay

In my thinking, starting an up tempo will affect the former track because track need to adhere to a
certain rhythm so the audience can easily enjoy the music like if a track plays with fast and slow
rhythms erratic will make the listener feel uncomfortable, and have a difficult time to following the
beats. In addition, there is a section that the sound is getting faded in the 0:19s in the first performance
and then return to normal sound. That section just happens for a little bit and the second performance
is opposite, the time of the section is a little bit longer. Besides, the observe both tracks from start to

Prosthetic Valve Endocarditis
We read with great interest the paper by Richard van Valen and his colleagues that evaluated patients
with prosthetic valve endocarditis (PVE) due to opportunistic bacterial pathogen Propionibacterium
acnes (P. acnes). The authors should be congratulated for publishing the largest single centre series to
date on the topic, as thus far the literature was dominated by single case reports. We would like to add
some thoughts on the microbiological aspects of PVE caused by this facultative anaerobic species.
Diagnosis of PVE caused by this microorganism is often delayed due to oligosymptomatic and
nonspecific presentation, hence microbiological confirmation is pivotal for adjusting treatment.
Unfortunately, aside for establishing positivity of blood and/or tissue cultures, there is no further
elaboration on the microbiological techniques employed to diagnose P. acnes in this study, probably
due to its retrospective design. It would also be interesting to know the incidence of neurologic
symptoms in this case series of 13 patients, as these are more commonly observed in P. acnes PVE
than in any other type of infective endocarditis (x). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

issues of implementing such technology in the diagnostic

Steve Jobs Influence
Steve Jobs: A Inspiring and Influential Businessman
The iPod, iPad, iMac, and iPhone all share one thing in common other than their elegant design. Their
creator, Steve Jobs, oversaw the creation of many of these extremely personal and innovative
electronics. He thought of technology and devices we did not know we needed or wanted because we
never knew they existed. Although he was often called crazy, but his different ideas and rebelling
personality drove him beyond what many expected of him as he built Apple and other companies.
Steve Jobs is most admired for his co founding of Apple and NeXT, as well as his involvement in
Pixar.

thousand dollars just to have NeXT s logo created. (Lakin 118). NeXT was not the only company he
would become involved in, and Jobs bought Pixar Animation Studios from George Lucas ( Steve Jobs
). He was fascinated with the relationship between their software and hardware, and most of all Pixar s
software amazed him . Most importantly, he took Pixar in a different direction, allowing it to become a

Employee Act Case Study
In 1998, Congress passed the IRS Reconstructing and Reform Act after hearings held by Congress in
1996 and 1997. There were many changes to the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. Relating to
individuals, the act states that people who fail to provide their taxpayer identification numbers are not
allowed to take the earned income credit for the year in which the failure occurs. Individuals can
deduct interest expense paid on certain student loans. Also the exclusion, from income, of gain on the
sale of a principal residence is prorated for certain taxpayers. And the use of a continuous levy must be
specifically approved by the IRS before the levy is effective.

The most effective check or balance on the bureaucracy is the legislative branch s power of oversight

Alcohol Tax Impact
The Impact of Alcohol Taxes and Prices on Consumption
Introduction
In the United States, the consumption of alcoholic beverages including beer, wine, and liquor is quite
prevalent throughout the nation s population. Approximately 87.6 percent of people ages 18 or older
have reportedly consumed alcohol at some point in their lifetime, 71 percent have consumed alcohol
within the past year, and 57 percent have consumed alcohol within the past month in 2014 (National
Institute of Health, 2016). Alcoholic beverages are intended for adults who are of legal drinking age;
however, teenagers and young adults under 21 years may also be under the influence of alcohol
through illegal means. From the data presented above, it appears that alcoholic beverages ... Show

Social Structure And Hierarchy At The Gym
For the deviance assignment I decided to break the social norms that are prevalent in the gym while
working out. Cal Poly has a very active campus that uses the gym very regularly. The gym has its own
set of rules and norms that are followed by everyone. I personally do not spend a lot of time in the
gym so to prepare I watched 30 minutes of YouTube videos and read multiple lists of unwritten gym
rules and things not to do at the gym. The social structure and hierarchy at the gym is different than
real life. The gym social structure is based on how much muscle the person has and for how long the
person has been lifting. Therefore, I was at the bottom due to the fact that I am rail thin and do not
work out regularly. As someone at the bottom of the social order I was for the most part ignored,
similar to how one ignores the poor and homeless. The only way to get a reaction out of people was to
act out and disturb the social order. No one offered to help me and spend time with me to improve out
of the goodness of his or her heart, most people stick to themselves. The only way to be noticed is to
act out, similar to how poor people and homeless act out to get attention because they do not know
any other way. The only person to talk to me and tell me that I was messing around was a male in his
30 s who was very muscular and was a workout regular. He, in the social structure, is much higher and
the advice is similar to a teacher speaking down to a student. He told me that

Olympic Games And Its Impact On Society
Sports have played a major role in society for as far back as dated history goes. Today s greatest
sporting events capture the interest of billions of people. No one sporting event is greater than the
Summer Olympic games, for it brings together athletes from all across the globe to compete and
represent their respected nations. Winning an Olympic gold medal can create a widespread feeling of
patriotism and unite a nation. Unfortunately, the events of the 1972 Olympic Games were a
catastrophic disaster. Consequently, the following will reveal the 1972 Munich Summer Olympic
Games tragedy and the ramifications of its build up, the event, and the lasting effects on society.
The events that occurred at the 1972 Olympics were the result of a long conflict between Palestinian
Arabs and Israeli Jews dating to the end of the nineteenth century. The two nations have contrasting
religious beliefs and conflict broke out between them for who had the ownership of a strip of land that
both states considered to be holy. From the end of World War I until 1948, the area that both groups
claimed was known internationally as Palestine. Following the war of 1948 1949, this land was
divided into three parts: The State of Israel, the West Bank (of the Jordan River) and the Gaza Strip. It
is a small area approximately 10,000 square miles, or about the size of the state of Maryland. Both
nations cited historical religious evidence for why the land should belong to them and no solution

Why High School Students Dropout
High School Dropouts Dropout is a broad term used to classify a person who has abandoned their
class or field of study. A great number of the teens that drop out of school are thought of as being in
the same category, but there are countless different reasons why students drop out of high school. Be it
living in low poverty areas and having to quit school to work and help the family out. Struggling with
learning disabilities and being in special education or even rebelliousness and pregnancy. Among the
abounding states in our country, Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana have the highest high school
dropout rates.
Poverty stricken areas have high dropout rates. One of the main reasons for this is the need for a teen
of working age to help ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Teen birth rates were high in the same states with the poverty and special needs issues. With Louisiana
teen birth rate at 47.5 births per 100, ages 15 19(Wright). This means almost 50% of the children born
during this time frame were born to underage mothers entering high school or just graduating.
Typically, when a teen gets pregnant in high school they drop out. This is either due to having to get a
job and support her now new family or even the embarrassment of her situation. In the south,
particularly many teens are made to marry at young ages due to pregnancy and forced to grow up.
This situation is avoidable if parents would push their children to finish their high school education
and recognize how important receiving their diploma is.
I am hopeful as we enter a new time that the dropout rates in these southern states will become less
and less. That we can break the cycle on families having to depend of the government for different
programs to survive, so that we can begin to pour money into the school system to help the teens with
learning disabilities make it through school. I am hopeful that in these new times teens are not forced
to marry and stop pursing their education. I am optimistic one day everyone will realize how
important completing high school is and the rates we see now will soon be

Using A Stock Trading System Based On Prediction Models...
The dissertation project addresses the problem of trying to build a stock trading system based on
prediction models obtained with daily stock quotes data. We will apply different models to predict the
returns of IBM stocks at the New York Stock Exchange. These predictions will be used together with a
trading rule that will generate buy and sell signals. This chapter addresses several new data mining
issues: (1) how to use R to analyze data stored in a database; (2) how to handle prediction problems
where there is a time ordering among training cases (usually known as a time series); (3) and the
consequences of wanting to translate model predictions into actions.
3.1 Problem description and objectives
Stock market trading is an application domain with a big potential for data mining. In effect, the
existence of an enormous amount of historical data suggests that data mining can provide a
competitive advantage over human inspection of this data. On the other hand there are authors
claiming that the markets adapt so rapidly in terms of price adjustments that there is no space to obtain
profits in a consistent way. This is usually known as the efficient markets hypothesis. This theory has
been successively replaced by more relaxed versions that leave some space for trading opportunities.
The general goal of stock trading is to maintain a portfolio of stocks based on buy and sell orders. The
long term objective is to achieve as much profit as possible from these trading

Burmese Python
Have you ever heard of a Burmese Python? The Burmese python is a magnificent and powerful
animal. These snakes do not have venom, but they catch their prey and squeeze very hard. The
Burmese python is twenty three feet and can weigh up to two hundred pounds. Chemical receptors in
their tongues and heat sensors along the jaws compensate for their poor eyesight and allow them to
hunt in the dark. To kill their pray, they first grasp it with their back curving teeth. When the animal
tries to pull away, the snake s teeth only sink down further. These snakes are very, very dangerous.
They have made changes in local animals, people, and the Everglades. This is why the Python
Challenge occurred.

In source four, the text states that it is not enough to say Let s go out and shoot some pythons. These
animals are in Florida because we brought them here. We must do a better job of educating people
about the effect their careless have on ecosystems here in Florida and around the world. In source two,
it says that a growing population of Burmese pythons many pets turned loose by their owners when
they became too big is threatening the ecosystem of Florida s Everglades. Many people like snakes
because of their beautiful skin, but their rapid growth rate, and their generally docile disposition is not
a thing to like about. Like I said before, after they grow too big, they let them go in the wild and when
Hurricane Andrew hit, it never did help matters. In source four, the text states that an exotic pet dealer
s warehouse that housed nearly nine hundred Burmese pythons was destroyed, and many of its
pythons escaped. As I conclude, the Burmese pythons has effected local animals, people, and the
Florida Everglades. In conclusion, these pythons can be very dangerous. Even though they do not
have venom, they squeeze and swallow animal s whole. The Florida Everglades is a very dangerous
place to be right now. Tens of thousands of Burmese pythons are estimated to be living in the
Everglades, where they thrive in the warm, humid climate. People can tell each other to go shoot some

Analysis Of What s Eating Gilbert Grape
Introduction: Communication competence is defined as Achieving one s goals in a manner that ideally,
maintains or enhances the relationship in which it occurs. (Adler Proctor, 22) This means that
successful communication is getting what you want in a way that improves your relationship with that
person. Their is no ideal way to communicate because there are many different methods that can be
effective for communicating in different situations. Competence is situational because everyone we
communicate with is different from everyone else. Therefore we use different communication styles
for each person. Communication can also be learned. Competent communicators have several

Say it like that Gilbert. (What s eating Gilbert Grape) Gilbert replies in a forceful tone Arney get
down! (What s Eating Gilbert Grape) In this scene Gilbert does not use effective communication. He
is not using empathy, which is Feeling and experiencing another person s situation. (Adler Proctor, 26)
When Arney says this Gilbert is angry because the people in town laughed at his mother. Gilbert is not
considering that Arney didn t understand what was happening when the people were laughing at their
mom. This is ineffective communication because Arney doesn t get down and it doesn t help the
relationship between them. Another instance of ineffective communication is after Arney eats the cake
and Gilbert gets angry. Gilbert forces Arney into the bath and Arney fights against him. Gilbert then
hits Arney in the face multiple times.(What s Eating Gilbert Grape) This is a demonstration of
incompetent communication. Gilbert is not using self monitoring, which is Paying close attention to
one s behavior, and using these observations to shape the way one behaves. (Adler Proctor, 26) Gilbert
doesn t change is behavior towards Arney when he realizes that Arney isn t understanding. He gets
frustrated and loses his temper which doesn t achieve what Gilbert wants and it hurts their
relationship. The final characteristic of a good communicator is commitment. This is the idea that
People who seem to care about relationships communicate better then those who don t. (Adler Proctor,
26) Throughout the movie Gilbert is very committed to his relationships. Still there is one scene where
his commitment falters. When Gilbert brings the cake home Arney asks what is in the box. Gilbert
replies Don t touch it, if you touch it I m gonna kill you. (What s Eating Gilbert Grape) In this scene
Gilbert is not showing full commitment to the relationship

Reflection On Classroom Management
Throughout the course of this semester, my abilities in certain areas increased quite a bit. One major
area that I feel I gained a lot of knowledge in is classroom management. The classroom management
course I am in gave me so much useful information as to how to respond to students, maintain control
of the classroom, and prepare myself for the beginning of the year. I still don t feel completely
confident in this area because I am missing the practice piece. However, I feel that I have the
knowledge I need to prepare me for situations in the classroom. I also feel more prepared to work with
diverse populations after my field experience in an ELL classroom this semester. I am closer to
reaching several of my goals that I created at the beginning of the semester. In regards to creating
curriculum, my goal was to create lessons each day that are fun and engaging for students. This
semester I have written 15 20 lessons that I feel satisfied to use in the classroom. I also have been
starting a lesson plan binder with lesson plans, worksheets, and handouts organized by course and
sequence. This is the organization format that I hope to use while I m student teaching. I have also
accomplished my goal of putting together a professional wardrobe. I feel that I have clothing that will
help me to look less like a teenager and set me apart as the teacher. This wardrobe will help me to look
more put together and hopefully create an image of professionalism to administrators. Another

Essay On The Babylonians
The Babylonian civilization existed from around 3000 BC until 539 BC. The civilization has its roots
to Mesopotamia, a plain between the Tigris River and the Euphrates River, which is now in modern
day Iraq. The Babylonians are notoriously famous in their discoveries and inventions, most of which
we still use today. The civilization developed ideas such as astronomy, in which they created the Saros
Cycle, a cycle used to predict solar and lunar eclipses. The Babylonians were also masters in
architecture, constructing buildings like the Hanging Gardens using innovative techniques including
glass covered bricks and adornments of gold and bronze. However, despite many of these discoveries
being forgotten or lost, their advancements in mathematics have been kept for centuries, and have
brought modern ideas of angles, quadratic equations and even knowledge about the Pythagoras
theorem, before Pythagoras himself existed.
One modern day use of mathematics and quadratic equations, created by Babylonians, was the
collection of taxes. Mesopotamia was a very fertile land; therefore there were a high number of
farmers in the Babylonian Empire. Because of the high number of farmers, tax collectors and
mathematicians had to develop a new and more efficient way of calculating the ... Show more content

The Big Bang Theory Of The Universe Essay
Evidence pointed towards that the universe was expanding, but this was not enough to separate the
Big Bang theory from its rivals. A few decades after the redshift concept was discovered, scientists
detected groundbreaking evidence that was considered the smoking gun. Arno Penzias and Robert
Wilson detected the remnants of radiation created from the Big Bang. This cosmic background
radiation was the thermal radiation left over from the Big Bang. It was collected in the form as
omnidirectional microwaves, which was red shifted because of the expansion of the universe. While
they were not able to detect large quantities of cosmic background radiation, the principle of
overdetermination allowed them to make claims from this evidence. They deduced that this radiation
must of come from a Big Bang event were protons and neutrons formed hydrogen atom. This was the
smoking gun to the beginning of the universe, it revealed that only an event like the Big Bang could
create this radiation. All the evidence collected suggested that an event like the Big Bang would be the
only explanation to what scientists had collected. The Big Bang theory became the most probable
theory against its rivals, but scientists were tasked with an even more difficult problem. They needed
to be able to explain how the Big Bang resulted in the unique universe we observe around us. With the
Big Bang theory established, scientists needed to understand how this theory could create our

(Act III.iii.25 30) The kind spirit in Friar Lawrence has been worn out by the stupidity of Romeo and it is easily noticeable due to the way that the friar speaks in attempt to get Romeo to pick himself up off of the floor. However, in Scene 7, after he chooses the wrong casket and leaves, Portia says A gentle riddance , which shows us that she is very happy that the Prince of Morocco is not going to be her husband. Through these scenes, I learn about Portia s gracious character and her tact in using her appearance to deceive her suitors. Once your account was created you were able to start your adventure in the exploration of Runescape, there is no better game you can get lost in. Runescape is the missing piece of achievement, adventure, and connection that you are searching for. The concept of the game was revolutionary from the questing to the combat system. With each milestone you hit a player would feel a sense of accomplishment. The longer it took to reach that goal the more satisfying it was. This sense of achievement was what all of us craved. For many players this system of gameplay at this level was never seen before. We were used to the console games such as Zelda or Super Mario that had a set storyline to follow and a goal to reach, once completed the game was over. • 17. Musical Exoticism In Britten s Death In Venice Music 15: Paper #2 In the late nineteenth century, France forged a new path in music and ushered in the practice of musical exoticism. Pieces, such as operas, began to be characterized by their use of exotic elements including: music, makeup, clothing and props. Ralph P. Locke in, Musical Exoticism: Images and Reflections, expanded upon this notion stating that the purpose of musical exoticism was to evoke a place that is perceived as different from one s home (Locke, p.47). Elaborating from this definition a spectrum of musical exoticism was contrived; with pure exoticism, intended to other the exotic elements, and transcultural composing, intended to provide a hybrid of musical styles, representing the two extremes on opposing ends (Locke, p.44, 228) . Benjamin Britten in his opera, Death in Venice, uses exotic elements Gamelan music in a nontraditional sense that does not adhere stringently to the conditions of pure exoticism or transcultural composing. Some pieces, such as Britten s Death in Venice, blur the lines of distinction between each end of the musical exoticism spectrum and are open to subjective interpretation by the listener. Thus, through analyzing the use of exotic elements and their intended purpose in Britten s Death in Venice, it is my opinion that the piece falls more in accordance with pure exoticism rather than transcultural composing, due to Britten s use of the exotic elements to effectively other the homosexual attraction of opera s main character. Musical exoticism is the use of non western elements in western music for the purpose of defining and representing exotic elements or othering, that is to label a group or place as different from one s own (Locke, p.45). Musical exoticism is a diverse genre, and pieces can adopt a variety of forms. Therefore, musical exoticism is regarded as a spectrum rather than definitive categorization. On one end of the spectrum is pure exoticism and on the other is transcultural composing. Pure exoticism is used to represent an exotic subject through the use of othering that is to present a people, place or group in contrast to the audience s home so that the audience perceives the exotic element as different from themselves ... He feared women who threatened the natural order, showed aggressive tendencies, and were capable of being independent (Smith). Shakespeare used Lady Macbeth as a subtle imitation for the historical women King James persecuted (Moir). The Weird Sisters used methods like image magic on the world around them to injure. While others in Shakespeare s England were executed for witchcraft that never engaged in any practices associated with witchcraft or magic at all (Smith). Setting up progressive goals and rules helps a designer in making everything more clearly and efficiently, so as to achieve the anticipated and satisfactory design outcome. What designers need to do is to first provide a rudimentary design map, covering different small processes, explaining what are their specific operations as well as their importance in contributing to the final outcome. Secondly, designers need to follow these preset processes, assuring each step is correctly followed. But on top of that, they could definitely add in some spontaneous and creative personal ideas during the implementation of the plan, which will hopefully make the project more like their own s, other than a robotic, emotionless work. In the first place, having a clear process enables designers to understand the concepts in greater depth. This could later facilitate and guide the development and implementation of design projects. To comprehend the topics, designers need to define the meanings of the topics, outline related fields and think about the project purposes. Our group was assigned to the topic boundaries (Bruce studio), which required us to determine and understand the criteria in deciding whether an area is bound or unbound . The authors should be congratulated for publishing the largest single centre series to date on the topic, as thus far the literature was dominated by single case reports. We would like to add some thoughts on the microbiological aspects of PVE caused by this facultative anaerobic species. Diagnosis of PVE caused by this microorganism is often delayed due to oligosymptomatic and nonspecific presentation, hence microbiological confirmation is pivotal for adjusting treatment. Unfortunately, aside for establishing positivity of blood and/or tissue cultures, there is no further elaboration on the microbiological techniques employed to diagnose P. acnes in this study, probably due to its retrospective design. We will apply different models to predict the returns of IBM stocks at the New York Stock Exchange. These predictions will be used together with a trading rule that will generate buy and sell signals. This chapter addresses several new data mining issues: (1) how to use R to analyze data stored in a database; (2) how to handle prediction problems where there is a time ordering among training cases (usually known as a time series); (3) and the consequences of wanting to translate model predictions into actions. 3.1 Problem description and objectives Stock market trading is an application domain with a big potential for data mining. In source four, the text states that an exotic pet dealer s warehouse that housed nearly nine hundred Burmese pythons was destroyed, and many of its pythons escaped. As I conclude, the Burmese pythons has effected local animals, people, and the Florida Everglades. In conclusion, these pythons can be very dangerous. Even though they do not have venom, they squeeze and swallow animal s whole. The Florida Everglades is a very dangerous place to be right now. Tens of thousands of Burmese pythons are estimated to be living in the Everglades, where they thrive in the warm, humid climate. People can tell each other to go shoot some snakes or something, ... • 33. Reflection On Classroom Management Throughout the course of this semester, my abilities in certain areas increased quite a bit. One major area that I feel I gained a lot of knowledge in is classroom management. The classroom management course I am in gave me so much useful information as to how to respond to students, maintain control of the classroom, and prepare myself for the beginning of the year. I still don t feel completely confident in this area because I am missing the practice piece. However, I feel that I have the knowledge I need to prepare me for situations in the classroom. I also feel more prepared to work with diverse populations after my field experience in an ELL classroom this semester. I am closer to reaching several of my goals that I created at the beginning of the semester. In regards to creating curriculum, my goal was to create lessons each day that are fun and engaging for students. This semester I have written 15 20 lessons that I feel satisfied to use in the classroom. I also have been starting a lesson plan binder with lesson plans, worksheets, and handouts organized by course and sequence. This is the organization format that I hope to use while I m student teaching. I have also accomplished my goal of putting together a professional wardrobe. I feel that I have clothing that will help me to look less like a teenager and set me apart as the teacher. This wardrobe will help me to look more put together and hopefully create an image of professionalism to administrators. Another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Essay On The Babylonians The Babylonian civilization existed from around 3000 BC until 539 BC. The civilization has its roots to Mesopotamia, a plain between the Tigris River and the Euphrates River, which is now in modern day Iraq. The Babylonians are notoriously famous in their discoveries and inventions, most of which we still use today. The civilization developed ideas such as astronomy, in which they created the Saros Cycle, a cycle used to predict solar and lunar eclipses. The Babylonians were also masters in architecture, constructing buildings like the Hanging Gardens using innovative techniques including glass covered bricks and adornments of gold and bronze. However, despite many of these discoveries being forgotten or lost, their advancements in mathematics have been kept for centuries, and have brought modern ideas of angles, quadratic equations and even knowledge about the Pythagoras theorem, before Pythagoras himself existed. One modern day use of mathematics and quadratic equations, created by Babylonians, was the collection of taxes. Mesopotamia was a very fertile land; therefore there were a high number of farmers in the Babylonian Empire. Because of the high number of farmers, tax collectors and mathematicians had to develop a new and more efficient way of calculating the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 35. The Big Bang Theory Of The Universe Essay Evidence pointed towards that the universe was expanding, but this was not enough to separate the Big Bang theory from its rivals. A few decades after the redshift concept was discovered, scientists detected groundbreaking evidence that was considered the smoking gun. Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson detected the remnants of radiation created from the Big Bang. This cosmic background radiation was the thermal radiation left over from the Big Bang. It was collected in the form as omnidirectional microwaves, which was red shifted because of the expansion of the universe. While they were not able to detect large quantities of cosmic background radiation, the principle of overdetermination allowed them to make claims from this evidence. They deduced that this radiation must of come from a Big Bang event were protons and neutrons formed hydrogen atom. This was the smoking gun to the beginning of the universe, it revealed that only an event like the Big Bang could create this radiation. All the evidence collected suggested that an event like the Big Bang would be the only explanation to what scientists had collected. The Big Bang theory became the most probable theory against its rivals, but scientists were tasked with an even more difficult problem. They needed to be able to explain how the Big Bang resulted in the unique universe we observe around us. With the Big Bang theory established, scientists needed to understand how this theory could create our observable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Essay On Community Nursing Community Health Nursing Reflection NUR/405 August 7, 2012 Community Health Nursing Reflection According to Phyllis Meadows (2009), Community health nurses are valued for their adaptability and willingness to provide care in many settings, including community health clinics, churches, homeless shelters, and schools, (p. 19). Community health nurses aim to improve health outcomes and improve the infrastructure used to monitor and manage disease within the community. Healthy People 2020 has established benchmarks and monitored progress over time to improve health outcomes. Because of diverse populations it is important that community nurses develop cultural competence and are educated and prepared to address these differences within the community. Nursing diagnosis and interventions appropriate to use within this community include: Nutritional deficiency related to lack of access to grocery stores. Interventions may include nutritional assessment, identification and referrals to help resources (e.g., WIC or assistance office), and education regarding appropriate foods needed to meet nutritional needs. A diagnosis of risk for fluid volume deficit related to farming during high temperatures includes interventions such as educating and emphasizing the need for adequate fluid intake during times of increased activities and high temperatures and how to recognize signs of dehydration. Nursing interventions for a diagnosis of risk for injury related to work environment/occupation or environmental wastes may include educating on proper body mechanics and ensuring equipment in use is working properly and individuals are trained how to use such equipment. Another diagnosis of risk of poisoning related to chemicals associated with place of employment, high possibility of drinking water contamination, and presence of lead paint. Nursing interventions for this diagnosis can include labeling chemicals ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
