A Brief Note On Ann Landers, An American Advice Columnist...
Ann Landers, was an American advice columnist and eventually a nation wide media celebrity. A 1978
World Almanac Survey named her the most influential woman in the United States. She had once
mentioned that Television has proved that people will look at anything rather than each other. It means
that people would rather look that a screen than facing towards to people. This reminds me of a time in
my life when I was alone in both freshman and sophomore years. There were any times when I have
nowhere to go for lunch. No one really talked to me. It was really dreadful for me. As the years go by I
eventually improve my interaction significantly. Now to the present day, I know why I was like that.
Sense I had some experience with social media and how I see my older cousins change over the time.
It turned out that I was antisocial, I eventually notice that I don t really open up. I don t really got out
of my comfort zone. That was my problem in school, but in my older cousins case. It was going the
opposite direction, on what I have notice, we all have different interpretations on how we view certain
things, and I think thats is the major cause on why we don t have that type of connection, with each
other. But what doesn t make sense to me is that we are family we should be able to communicate with
each other without judging our differences, but that was just my own perspective on what family
should be. Anyway, I will do my best to find a way to get to know my cousins once

The Korean Wave
Trending Worldwide: Korean Wave
Rosanna Danica B. Maguad
TRENDING WORLDWIDE: KOREAN WAVE Unlike in the past, Philippine Media is now a
combination of various Asian entertainments. It imports TV series and movies from neighboring Asian
countries. Imported movies are then dubbed in Filipino and streamed in our country. ABS CBN, one
of the top TV stations in the country, started to explore foreign TV series last 2003. This was Meteor
Garden, a Taiwanese drama series. Because of the boom of the said series, GMA 7, a rival of ABS
CBN, made the same move. They also brought in various teleseryes from other Asian countries. They
were the first one to air Korean dramas. Although, both stations tried Japanese, Thailand, and
Taiwanese series, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Korean Towns brought by Korean diaspora in the Philippines provided additional jobs for Filipinos.
Also, Koreans seek to learn English in Philippines. Since the Philippines is an English speaking
country, anyone could teach basic English to them. As the interest in Korean wave continues, the
discrimination of zainichi or the Korean residents in Japan decreases. Zainichi have closer affinity to
Japan than Korea because they were born and raised there. However, they are still discriminated for
being non Japanese national. But when the Korean culture started to trend, the zainichis are now more
appreciated. There is even a Zainichi character who starred in a Japanese television (Brasor, 2004).
Negative effects and criticisms accompanied continuing success of Korean wave. One of these is the
rise of Korean Tribe. This term refers to Korean wave followers who are wanna be of their favorite
Korean stars. Most of them are women. They would imitate the fashion, hairstyles, make up, gestures
or even all the way up in having plastic surgeries ( The Korean Wave , n.d.). In the article South Korea
Culture Wave Spreads across Asia written by Louisa Lim, Dr. Chung Jong Pil pointed out that there is
30% increase of foreigners who went to Korea to undergo plastic surgery. He added that these are
mostly Chinese and Japanese who wanted to make their looks more like

Rivers And Streams Receiving Urban Runoff Essay
Introduction
Rivers and streams receiving urban runoff have been shown to be toxic to aquatic species (e.g. H.
azteca), due to the presence of pyrethroids (Budd et al., 2007; Weston and Lydy, 2010; Weston et al,
2014). These pyrethroids are greatly toxic, with acute species mortality possible at even small
concentrations of one part per trillion (Weston and Jackson, 2009), yet urban runoff regularly contains
concentrations greater than 20 parts per trillion (Weston and Lydy, 2012). A significant part of the
runoff from urban areas encompassing Sacramento, California flows to the American River. Thus, the
toxic level of the rivers and tributaries of the American River and its sensitivity to aquatic species has
been studied through modeling efforts (Jorgenson et al, 2013). Urban runoff, which contains a
considerable amount of bifenthrin, a subset of pyrethroids, makes up a large portion of the river flow
after a storm event. Due to increased use of bifenthrin in Sacramento County, bifenthrin concentration
can be as high as 0.018 ppb, which is more than 5 times the 96 h middle effective concentration
(EC50) for loss of motion to most aquatic species (Weston et al., 2009; Holmes et al., 2008; Hintzen et
al., 2009; Weston and Lydy, 2010). The aggregated sum of pyrethroids active ingredient (A.I.) used by
licensed professional pesticide applicators in Sacramento County, California, was estimated as
4,025,246 lbs. in 2014, and among this, structural pest control and landscape

The Incidence Of Alzheimer s Disease Essay
Etiology
The incidence of Alzheimer s disease is 36 million people worldwide as of 2010, making it the most
common cause of senile dementia. 1This number is expected to nearly double, to 65.7 million by
2030.1AD is accompanied by pathological features consistent with brain atrophy and neural cell
death. 1The inflammatory response of the brain, that is commonly found in AD, is linked to several
factors. 1Amyloid B, inflammatory cytokines, and sphingolipids are some of the known factors
associated with AD. 1Uncontrolled inflammation, from ongoing or chronic complement activation is
theorized to impact Alzheimer s disease, among other diseases. 2 Recent GWAS shows strong
evidence that complement receptor CR1 is linked to the development of AD, although the mechanistic
basis for the CR1 risk remains largely unknown.2
Pathogenesis
Emerging evidence demonstrates neuroinflammation as a crucial pathophysiology of AD, specifically
impacted by microglia and astroglia. 3 The microglia are distributed evenly across the brain and are
activated by protein aggregation and neuronal cell death. 3 Specifically related to AD, the two chief
proteins involved are amyloid B and tau.3 An accumulation of microglia around amyloid B plaques
has been documented in post mortem human brains and in animal models with AD.3 Research has yet
to clearly determine if microglial activation plays a beneficial or detrimental role in the progression of
AD..3 Some reports suggest that microglia are attracted to

Benefits Of Tahini Sesame Paste
Recently I bought some tahini sesame paste for a recipe I found in a cookbook.
For those of you, who are new to this, tahini comes from crushed sesame seeds.
It is one of the world s healthiest foods to eat.
I went to the local shops to buy some, there were two jars, hulled and unhulled.
My instincts told me to get the unhulled which I did, although I was concerned the unhulled tahini
sesame paste would not taste as sweet.
Unhulled is stronger in flavour, a little bitter in taste, and darker in colour. However, you soon get used
to the taste and after a while, it actually tastes really good.
If you are not sure of the taste you can always add some raw organic honey.
Now, it was time to look into tahini benefits. And could I use it more often? ... Show more content on

My anti aging regime is already jam packed, nevertheless, there is always room for one more.
Your complexion will glow from all the vitamins and minerals, it is probably the best for looking
younger.
It contains all the B vitamins and zinc you need for healthy skin and hair.
Tahini sesame paste unhulled, has two fantastic compounds, sesamolin, and sesamin.
As a result, these two compounds enhance absorption of vitamin E in the body.
This is important, as air pollution alone can cut the amount of vitamin E in the body, and in turn
causes wrinkles.
Sesamolin and sesamin compounds are of great benefit to a healthy heart, and hormonal health.
These compounds will protect the liver from toxic damage and help lower high blood pressure.
Do you have arthritis in your knees? If you do, eating a couple of tablespoons daily of tahini sesame
paste will help reduce pain.
Researchers discovered this is as good as taking Tylenol, if not better, and certainly

False Christian Teaching
Many people can teach the Gospel, but few can present it in a way of compelling and authentic
manner. Through his teachings to the Ephesians, Ignatius provides beneficial concepts for Christianity
that are crucial for the Church to pursue. He commends the Ephesians to live in unity and communion
with God, respect the authority placed over them, and stray from false teachings. His thought
provoking ideas are absent from believers today and should be more vividly displayed in the lives of
Christians.
For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same
function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others
(New International Version, Romans 12:4 5). Christians ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ignatius praised the Ephesians for staying strong in their faith when false teachers came to cripple
their beliefs. Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep s clothing, but inward they are
ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits (New International Version, Matthew 7:15). It is
difficult when a convincing person attempts to change your hopes and beliefs because they can be so
sly and can twist thoughts. However, sticking to what is true, holy, and pleasing to God is the only
way to dodge the destruction of the Christian mind. False prophets and teachers have no place in the
lives of Christians and should not be able to sway strong beliefs and claims. The Church today is
victim to fictitious instruction and must remain faithful to what they know is true in God the Father.
Ignatius teachings to the Ephesians will ultimately benefit the Church if they are lived out everyday.
He instructed them to live as one in Christ Jesus, to respect the authority over them, and to stray from
false prophets who seek to corrupt their minds. If Christians today began to pursue these ideas, the
world as a whole would benefit greatly because Christ would shine so brightly in and through them.
Ignatius teachings not only left an impact on the Ephesians, but continue to impact the Church as they
are applied to Christians everyday

UNCG-Guarantee Program Analysis
Before Christmas break I went to an event at UNCG called the Spartan Showcase, and there were
three particular programs that captured my attention; UNCG in 3, Lloyd Honors College, and UNCG
Guarantee. The representatives at the Guarantee table were amiable and they seemed to stand apart
from the rest of the programs in the room, and when I approached the table they took time to explain
and describe the program to me. After the explanation, I was convinced that I would like to apply, in
fact, I was so ready that one of the student representatives went ahead and gave me a future scholar
sticker. Before leaving, I made sure to get the application deadlines and the information so that I could
further look up the program when I returned home. Now, after my acceptance into the Honors College,

The Use Of Media And Media During The French Revolution
Media and propaganda have helped establish free societies, overthrow governments, and incite wars
throughout history. Revolutionaries utilized each to inspire and unite the populace during the French
Revolution. Persuasive newspapers and pamphlets featured opinion pieces that convinced commoners
of the drastic economic, social, and political changes needed to improve their quality of life, role in
society and potential for social advancement. Revolutionaries used art in museums and mass
distributed prints as propaganda to rally the masses with nationalistic themes of heroism, martyrdom
and the power of the people. Music and festivals also contributed by infusing the masses with passion
to unite against the monarchy and fight for the revolution. The use of media and propaganda in the
French Revolution systematically distributed revolutionary ideas to the people and drastically altered
the course of the movement.
The French Revolution officially began in 1789, but the monarchy made a series of disastrous earlier
decisions which created the perfect conditions for the movement to thrive and engulf the country in
chaos. King Louis XVI dedicated funds to assist the American colonists in their fight for
independence against the British. While the French succeeded in their goal, the war left France with a
depleted treasury. Peasants became dissatisfied with the government after a series of droughts and
poor harvests. Tensions were further inflamed by the high taxes the monarchy

Boston Marathon Bombing Essay
Boston Marathon Bombing On April 15, 2013 during the Boston Marathon in Copley Square, two
bombs exploded near the finish line killing at least three and injuring over 170 people. This bombing
sent the nation in an uproar and it was immediately recognized as a terrorist attack. When the Federal
Bureau of Investigation took over, a few days later a surveillance video and photographs of the two
suspects were released. After the suspects were named, Dzhokar Tsarnaev, 19, and Tamerlan Tsarnaev,

It also struck me when I saw that they had planned another bombing in New York, this interested me
especially since it is so close to home. Now there are reports that the attack was supposed to be done
on the Fourth of July. This raises curiosity about security during the holiday and if we will all be safe.
I believe that everyone, at the time, was worried about there safety and anyone would have chose this
topic to do research on since it was still in the public eye. I learned quite a bit about the psychological
impact of the Boston Marathon Bombing. After researching the effects, I realized how much trauma
these innocent people went through during a moment that was supposed to be joyous. People that were
healthy and filled with life were either severely injured or had there life taken away by a senseless act.
Some of the injured victims will never be able to walk again, others, never able to see their loved ones
again. Martin Richard, an 8 year old boy whose life was taken during the attack, will never get to see
his family one more time. The amount of grief the Tsarnev brothers caused can never be taken back
and it has left a psychological effect on the viewers and the victims runners, adults and children.
Viewers across the nation are affected by the social media causing stress on the subject by bombarding
the public with media stories, rumors and a sense of mass panic . Victims have to relive that horrible

The Pit Of Human Depravity Essays
The holocaust was a catastrophic event that killed millions of innocent people and showed the world
how inhuman mankind can be. This dark period in world history demonstrated unmatched violence
and cruelty towards the Jewish race that led toward genocide. Genocide did not begin with the
Holocaust; nor was it a spontaneous event. Many warning signs within world events helped provide
Germany and Adolf Hitler the foundation to carry out increasing levels of human depravity (Mission
Statement). These warning signs during the Holocaust include; Anti Semitism, Hitler Youth, Racial
profiling, the Ghettos, Lodz, Crystal Night, Pogroms, and Deportation. However, their exposure

This soon led to an increase of Jewish deportations to concentration camps where they would face
numerous hardships and cruelty; the majority of them were lucky if they lasted a month. The sum of
these events helps provide the foundation and road map to genocide during the holocaust. A better
understanding of the magnitude and complexity of genocide will come to light by examining these
events which served as warning signs that the world stood by and allowed to happen. Most
importantly, while many agree that genocide should never have happened to any race, by breaking
down genocide from its many elements and events, valuable knowledge and understanding will result
on how not to let it happen again.
To begin, Anti Semitism was a huge thing with an enormous impact on all of these events. Anti
Semitism was a pretty common phenomenon around the holocaust era, but it could have never been
made clearer how much dislike the Germans had for the Jews than by having the holocaust. The
holocaust was the most extreme method of showing contempt toward a person. The tragic point is that
they became convinced and determined they were doing all of Germany a favor by getting rid of the
Jews because they were just another flaw in the country; and Germans came to believe that. In his first
Anti Semitic writing of 1919, Hitler demonstrated this desire to rid Germany of the Jews, The ultimate
objective [of such legislation] must, however, be the irrevocable removal of the Jews

A Worn Path Analysis
In A Worn Path , by Eudora Welty, we join Phoenix Jackson on her routine voyage to town for the
medicine her grandson needs to survive. Throughout this short story, it is obvious that there are themes
of persistence, struggle, and love. This struggle to the town is made apparent and is emphasized by the
stories setting along with the use of symbolism, and mood/atmosphere of the story. The driving force
behind the plot is this theme of persistence through the struggles and the idea that love conquers all,
adds to Jackson s journey to the town to get the medicine. As Jackson makes her way she faces
hurdles that would make a normal person turn back, such as the barbed wire fence (Welty, 503). But
instead, Jackson carries on. I personally interpret that as a great statement of love. Jackson was willing
to go through barbed wire fences to help her grandson. In addition, she not only was willing to go
through the barbed wires but also was willing to beg so that she could get her grandson a toy. Nothing
stopped Jackson from doing all that she could for her family and to me that means more than anything.
Symbolism plays a large part in the telling of this story. Symbolism can be found in Phoenix Jackson s
name just as much as in the small toy she buys her grandson. The name Phoenix is referencing a
mythical bird that is believed to live in the desert and is capable of living up to 600 years. The Phoenix
is said to set itself on fire only to rise once again from its ashes. The symbol of the Phoenix expresses
the endurance and resilience of Phoenix Jackson. As she makes her way down the path she is
embodying the long lasting characteristic of the Phoenix. In addition, Jackson is constantly picking
herself back up, and keeping herself together. Just like the mythical bird, Jackson manages to continue
on the harsh and tortuous path, rising from her own ashes, all out of love for her grandson. While the
symbol of the phoenix is obvious, one might skip over the message behind the small toy Jackson
bought for her grandson. The pinwheel, or windmill as Jackson called it, is a circular collection of
blades that are pushed and turned in a continuous circular pattern by either wind or force (Welty, 507).

The Triumph of Les Misérables Essays
The Triumph of Les Misérables
Les Misérables (1862), a novel set in early nineteenth century France, presents a story of obsessions in
honor, love, and duty, and through it redemption and salvation. It is the story of the poor Jean Valjean,
condemned to an unfair amount of time in prison and a life on the run for stealing a loaf of bread for
his starving family. The kind act of forgiveness from a Bishop with whom Jean Valjean stays one
night, changes the course in which he chooses to live his life. Under a different identity, he becomes

Even though the character s fate is leading them to lives of misery, their obsession to have a perfectly
complete and happy life in their eyes is prevailing. In Victor Hugo s novel Les Misérables he uses the
character s obsession to portray the hardships people are willing to endure to obtain what they truly
desire in their lives.
Jean Valjean, the main character of the book, has two obsessions throughout the novel; living by the
Bishop s word (becoming a man of God s will,) and protecting and raising Cosette away from the evils
of the world. In the beginning of the story, Jean Valjean can not find anyone to take him in for the
night. Because he is a convict, marked by a yellow passport, the Bishop s home is the only door open
to him. A convict may leave the galleys behind, but not his condemnation (26). Despite the Bishop s

far from the Bishop s house, Jean Valjean is captured and returned to the Bishop, who tells the police
he gave the silver to the convict. Once the police excuse themselves, the Bishop says, Jean Valjean,

no longer to evil, but to good. It is your soul that I am buying for you. I give it to God! (33). From that

The Quality Risk Management Plan
The quality risk management plan for this case study scenario includes identifying areas of risk and
healthcare errors, in order to protect future patients from having their safety compromised. The case
study describes two patients who received wrong site surgery; which is considered a sentinel event
preventable and should never occur. According to a report by the Agency for Healthcare Research and
Quality (AHRQ) Patient Safety Network (2015) titled Wrong Site, Wrong Procedure, and Wrong
Patient Surgery, wrong site surgery is the most frequent type of sentinel event. It is approximated that
wrong site surgeries take place forty times per week in America (Clark, 2011).
Wrong site surgery has been identified as a top priority in improving quality of care and increasing
patient safety. As such, The Joint Commission 2015 Hospital National Patient Safety Goal includes the
prevention of mistakes in surgery. The goal is to perform the correct surgery on the correct patient at
the correct site, prior marking of the surgical site, and performing a time out just prior to
commencement of the surgery. The purpose of this paper is to create a root cause analysis, present
recommendations for improvement, present recommendations to prevent wrong site surgery, identify
the stakeholders and role players, present root cause analysis charts, and provide an overall of lessons

Causes And Conpects Of Child Labour In The Caribbean
Child labour in the Caribbean
Children have an important place in our society. Investing financial resources is crucial for ensuring
children can reach their potential.
Childhood is a unique stage in our development. The quality of food, water, affection and education
that children receive can impact on their subsequent lives and their potential to become engaged and
productive citizens. This time presents a unique opportunity for governments and organisations to
level the playing field for children from poorer backgrounds through investments.
Many businesses across the Caribbean recognise this and create opportunities to benefit millions of
children across the region. Most recently, The Sandals Foundation, the non profit arm of Sandals
Resorts International, announced a new collaboration with School Specialty, Inc. for the Pack for a
Purpose program. This partnership will further assist travellers to Sandals Resorts and Beaches
Resorts, who wish to bring along much needed supplies for local schools across the Caribbean
supported by the company. The partnership comes at a crucial time following the effects Hurricane
Matthew which has caused many problems regionally.
Unfortunately, childhood can be robbed from children when they become involved in child labour.
Child labour is work that deprives children of their childhood, their potential and their dignity and that
is is harmful to their development.
The ILO has defined child labour as a form of abuse and

It Starts With Little Annoyances
It starts with little annoyances, such as loud stomping from upstairs and the occasional sounds of loud

But nothing could have prepared him for this.
Jeon Jungkook, your average sophomore in university, with barely sufficient grades and a ton of
snarky remarks, had been living in an apartment for nearly two years. The apartment just above his

Defender Of The Faith And Good Country People Summary
In Defender of the Faith and Good Country People , the problem of identity is key to the story, for it is
something that can be pondered over or quickly answered. In Defender of the Faith , Marx is seen
struggling to identify himself by his actions, his religion, and his duty. In Good Country People ,
Pointer is quickly identified as a good country person yet this perception isn t accurate. Identity can be
formed through a number of things, like family, friends, school, religion, and etc. This is basic
sociology, yet there is more to this simple list. It is the individual that chooses to be influenced. An
individual chooses who he or she interact with, one may say an individual can t choose his or her
biological parents, however, an individual can choose who to call mom and dad. One can even argue
that an individual can be identified by the choices he or she have turned down. There are many

The Juvenile System
For over an era of time, states have thought that the juvenile system was a way to protect the
community by producing a method that reacts to children who are growing into adulthood. States
know that children who are young offenders and commit crimes are not the same as adults. The
children are less responsible, and they have a bigger ability for transformation. To react to these
changes, states have recognized that a detached court for juveniles from adults. They have formed a
separate, children constructed service provision system that is dissimilar than what is delivered to
adults. In history there were three types of juvenile organizations started to appear in the USA

Erik The Red s Role In Viking History
Erik the Red was a Norwegian Viking that was born in the 10th Century C.E, and his life contributed
significantly to the outstanding legacy of the Vikings through his explorations. It is through the
discovery of Greenland and its later settlement that cast Erik the Red s legendary adventures into
folklore. These two events are how Erik the Red played his role in Viking history, not through warfare,
but through explorations. The adventures undertaken, and the feats achieved by Erik the Red cement
his place in Viking History.
In 982 C.E, Erik the Red sailed west from Iceland after being banished for murder, discovering a new
land which he named Greenland. After exploring the newly discovered land for two years, naming

Examples Of Rogerian Argumentation
Rogerian is a style of argumentation that does not take an adversarial approach. This style of
argumentation moves away from a combative stance. The Rogerian argument consists of four parts:
the introduction, context, writer s position, and benefits to the opponent. In Is the College Use of
American Indian Mascots Racist, Jane Willy does a great job of not taking a particular side and
promoting ethical growth. Therefore, Willy effectively uses Rogerian argumentation to enhance his
argument. In Willy s introduction, he introduces the controversy of how there are differing views

This is supposed to show the opponent how they would benefit by agreeing with the writer s position.
Willy proposes that he thinks The voice of the Indians is the voice that should, finally, be listened to

the Indians the right to determine if the names of the mascots are racist. Also, Willy finds common
ground between the opposing viewpoints and provides a compromise. He brings up the controversy
regarding the North Dakota Fighting Sioux. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is
considering taking this name away from them because of differences among the community. Will
proposes that If it can, and if the Sioux then agree to let the university use their image, the NCAA

The controls aren t as simple as you would think: for example, you have to time breaking through the
gates. It isn t a button masher at all, but the controls are a bit complicated, and the same can be said
with the mechanics. You need to control your horse s speed by tapping on the up arrow on the screen
and make sure it stays in the good area of the speed bar. You may also change your horse s direction in
the track, but be sure to stay near the rails!
Despite being a freemium game and having numerous microtransactions, the game doesn t shove it
into your face. Moreover, the overall aesthetics and presentation are satisfactory, but not excellent.
The user interface also shines, considering you won t find navigating through the tabs difficult at all,
but it will need some time getting used to. The recommended section is also there to help guide you

Compared to other horse racing games on mobile platforms, iHorse Racing shines in the racing and

of the sport and casual gamers. Despite the steep learning curve, the racing mechanics are simple
enough and can provide countless hours of fun and

Polyethylene Terephthalate Vs. PLA
PET(Polyethylene Terephthalate) vs PLA(Polylactide), which one is better or worse than the other?
Both of these polymer is used in the world today. PET is perhaps the more famous one because of its
cheap prices and many uses. 30 % of the global demand for PET happens to be plastic bottles. PLA
the other type of polymer is just now gaining momentum being used as a bottle in the market today. It
is derived from renewable resources (corn) that we can regrow a lot easier than the polymer that we
harvest from trees. In my opinion I think there are a few more pros for PET then there are for PLA.
We use some sort of PET merchandise every day. Polyethylene Terephthalate is a strong, lightweight
plastic resin and form of polyester that closely resembles glass in clarity .... PET is commonly used in
food packaging due to its strong barrier properties against water vapor... PET is also shatter resistant,
slightly flexible and easy to recycle (Alpha). As stated above we use PET in everything that you can

They are made by Fermenting corn to produce lactic acid, which is then polymerized to make
polylactic acid (Hitachi). It can be made into almost anything that PET can be made into. It also does
it with about 68 percent less fossil fuel resources. Making it one of the few green material. PLA also
shares a lot of the same characteristics as PET. One that only PLA has is that it is bio degradable. The
con of PLA is that it is not recyclable everywhere. There are only a few places that are capable of
breaking down the polymer. One would think that it can just degrade anywhere; however, they require
special chemicals to allow it to break down. So you cannot just throw it out in your yard and expect it
to be gone within weeks or months. Being bio degradable still makes it better for the environment then
PET. Especially if both the PET and PLA are not

A Experiment On Actin And Myosin
Abstract
Research was conducted on Actin and Myosin protein; chains of amino acid residue responsible for
muscle contraction in muscle cells. Through phosphorylation, which causes changes in enzyme
activity as result of an alteration in protein conformation, the Myosin Light Chain ½ stimulates and
subsequently contracts the smooth muscle. Concentrations of the protein were determined and
analyzed among Catfish, Atlantic Salmon, Sockeye Salmon, Shrimp, Red Tuna, Red Snapper, Tilapia,
and Wild Cod. Electrophoresis provided a method of visualization of the samples, where
Immunodection was then used to identify Actin/Myosin Light Chain ½ proteins. Wild Cod expressed
the most Myosin LC ½ protein, whereas Shrimp expressed the least. Furthermore, both Wild Cod and
Shrimp differed considerably in comparison to the determined volume intensity of the other seafood
samples, which were closer in expression levels with one another. Animal behavior and habitat are
factors that have overtime resulted in the overall amount and subsequent use of muscle. Thus
analyzing the variance in Actin/Myosin ½ light chain protein expression serves as a tool in
understanding adaptation and evolution among species.
Introduction Actin and Myosin proteins serve the primary role of producing muscle contraction.
Myosin molecules will create pressure in the skeletal muscle, where ATP hydrolysis causes Myosin to
bind to Actin. A conformational change of the molecule then result in Myosin being

Chronic Acalculous Cholecystitis
When a patient comes with abdominal pain, it can be due to different causes. The pain may be
visceral, somatoparietal or referred pain as an indicator of a wide variety of systemic and local causes.
Visceral pain is from abdominal distention or stretching of the muscle fibers, carried by sympathetic
nerve fibers, presents as dull, poorly localized pain in the mid areas of the abdomen. Somatic pain
occurs once the parietal peritoneum is inflamed or irritated, and passed by sensory fibers. Somatic
pain is better defined and more localized, high intensity, and also associated with tenderness and
spasm of the localized muscle groups.

Communist Mainitarianism In George Orwell s Animal Farm
Communists Come Calling
George Orwell, the author of Animal Farm, was a soldier in both World War II and the Spanish Civil
War. Throughout both of these wars, he had gone through many tough situations. He did not agree
with much that was going on during this time, including the communism that was starting to take
place, as well as some people that were starting to believe in capitalism (Menand 084). Writing this
book allowed him to show his feelings towards what was happening and what he agreed with /
disagreed with. Orwell was known as a man who had a special pleasure with confronting his confreres
(Rodden and Rossi 16 21), which brought him to write this book making sure that he could express his
opinions on their beliefs to them. Starting off the book with everything being happy and interesting
caught the attention of the readers, and their attention was kept by portraying different people through
the different type of people and animals. Keeping the reader s attention was the main goal for Orwell,
because of the fact that he was replaying situations that had already happened before, so he wanted
people to know what he lived through. Wanting to keep it as real as possible but not boring was one of
the largest factors that had played a part in his writings. George Orwell s Animal Farm analyzes the
communist political system through the functioning use of a farm, reflecting on Joseph Stalin, Leon
Trotsky, and Adolf Hitler.

The Interpretation Of A Human

The Interpretation of a Human
How do a creature s actions portray them as human or monstrous? In what way do those who are not
human act or look and if not human, then what are they? In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, it is
observed that humans are characterized by showing compassion towards others and having character
flaws, but Victor s creature s grotesque physical appearance causes society to abandon him. Humans
will always have flaws and make mistakes, and this makes them human, but also shows one of the
weaknesses that humans have. When Victor has destroyed the second creature in spite of his first
creation, the malevolent creature shows up and foreshadows that something bad will happen on Victor
s wedding night. This leads Victor to narrate, The prospect did not move me to fear; yet when I
thought of my beloved Elizabeth, of her tears and endless sorrow, when she should find her lover so
barbarously snatched from her (Shelly 156). Victor thinks about himself and is blind to the notion that
his wife might possibly die. This proves that Victor s display of self centeredness is a trait that makes
him human. After Victor had discovered that his creation had been the real murderer of his relative,
William, he is shocked to find out that his cousin Justine Moritz had been accused and he says, My
tale was not one to announce publicly; its astounding horror would be looked upon as madness

The Issue Of Racial Healing
Wrong, Wrong! I did not! Excuse me! Those were some essential phrases heard in the debate. The first
presidential debate in 2016 was extremely intense. The debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald
Trump had a little bit of everything. At times both candidates agree but most of the time they disagree.
During the debate both candidates were very stubborn because they did not open up to listen to the
other candidate s perspective. The topics covered by Lester Holt were also very interesting. The three
topics were income inequality, racial healing, and cyber security. The main question I will focus on
will be the question of racial healing. From the question of racial healing Trump strongly believes that
law and order is the best solution to reduce crime. He believes that if we do not have law and order we
will not have a country. Trump believes that African Americans and Hispanics are living in hell since
the streets are very dangerous. You walk down the street, you get shot are some of the words Trump
said in the debate. Mr. Trump believes this is happening because their is many illegal immigrants that
are members of gangs that are out in the streets. He also believes that taking away guns from people
could be a good solution since many African Americans are being killed. Trump firmly believes that
African Americans are let down by politicians and that we need to start a good relationship with time

Comparison Between Optical Telescope Systems And Modern...
Background knowledge:
The topic of this investigation is to compare and contrast three different optical telescope systems that
are used in modern day times. The three main telescope systems that will be focused on in this report
will be reflecting, refracting and cassegrain which is a combination of both and how different types of
error such as aberration effect the telescopes ability to capture an image and the quality of the image it
produces.
Reflecting telescopes use mirrors to reflect incoming light rays onto a secondary mirror which
magnifies it through an eye piece to form an image. (BBC, 2015)
When light rays come in contact with the mirror they are called the incident ray and then when the ray
reflects back off the mirror it is then called the reflected ray. As the light rays hit and leave the mirror
at particular angles these are titled angle of incidence and angle of reflection which can be seen in the
figure 2 below.
By the first law of reflection it is assumed that the angle of reflection is equal to the angle of
incidence. This would only be true for totally reflective flat surfaces.
When light rays come into contact with convex and concave mirrors parallel to the normal they are
reflected onto a focal point . To find the focal point of a mirror, the mirror formula can be used.
1/f=1/u+1/v
Where f is the focal length, u is the objects actual distance away from the mirror and v is the distance
the image is formed from the mirror.

Theme Of Duality In Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde
Gothic novels tackle many aspects of the Victorian era which was between 1837 to 1901. Such aspects

Mystery, Suspense, Rationalism Vs Irrationalism and Supernatural beings Vs Human Beings and

  • 2. A Brief Note On Ann Landers, An American Advice Columnist... Ann Landers, was an American advice columnist and eventually a nation wide media celebrity. A 1978 World Almanac Survey named her the most influential woman in the United States. She had once mentioned that Television has proved that people will look at anything rather than each other. It means that people would rather look that a screen than facing towards to people. This reminds me of a time in my life when I was alone in both freshman and sophomore years. There were any times when I have nowhere to go for lunch. No one really talked to me. It was really dreadful for me. As the years go by I eventually improve my interaction significantly. Now to the present day, I know why I was like that. Sense I had some experience with social media and how I see my older cousins change over the time. It turned out that I was antisocial, I eventually notice that I don t really open up. I don t really got out of my comfort zone. That was my problem in school, but in my older cousins case. It was going the opposite direction, on what I have notice, we all have different interpretations on how we view certain things, and I think thats is the major cause on why we don t have that type of connection, with each other. But what doesn t make sense to me is that we are family we should be able to communicate with each other without judging our differences, but that was just my own perspective on what family should be. Anyway, I will do my best to find a way to get to know my cousins once ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Korean Wave Trending Worldwide: Korean Wave Rosanna Danica B. Maguad TRENDING WORLDWIDE: KOREAN WAVE Unlike in the past, Philippine Media is now a combination of various Asian entertainments. It imports TV series and movies from neighboring Asian countries. Imported movies are then dubbed in Filipino and streamed in our country. ABS CBN, one of the top TV stations in the country, started to explore foreign TV series last 2003. This was Meteor Garden, a Taiwanese drama series. Because of the boom of the said series, GMA 7, a rival of ABS CBN, made the same move. They also brought in various teleseryes from other Asian countries. They were the first one to air Korean dramas. Although, both stations tried Japanese, Thailand, and Taiwanese series, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Korean Towns brought by Korean diaspora in the Philippines provided additional jobs for Filipinos. Also, Koreans seek to learn English in Philippines. Since the Philippines is an English speaking country, anyone could teach basic English to them. As the interest in Korean wave continues, the discrimination of zainichi or the Korean residents in Japan decreases. Zainichi have closer affinity to Japan than Korea because they were born and raised there. However, they are still discriminated for being non Japanese national. But when the Korean culture started to trend, the zainichis are now more appreciated. There is even a Zainichi character who starred in a Japanese television (Brasor, 2004). Negative effects and criticisms accompanied continuing success of Korean wave. One of these is the rise of Korean Tribe. This term refers to Korean wave followers who are wanna be of their favorite Korean stars. Most of them are women. They would imitate the fashion, hairstyles, make up, gestures or even all the way up in having plastic surgeries ( The Korean Wave , n.d.). In the article South Korea Culture Wave Spreads across Asia written by Louisa Lim, Dr. Chung Jong Pil pointed out that there is 30% increase of foreigners who went to Korea to undergo plastic surgery. He added that these are mostly Chinese and Japanese who wanted to make their looks more like ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Rivers And Streams Receiving Urban Runoff Essay Introduction Rivers and streams receiving urban runoff have been shown to be toxic to aquatic species (e.g. H. azteca), due to the presence of pyrethroids (Budd et al., 2007; Weston and Lydy, 2010; Weston et al, 2014). These pyrethroids are greatly toxic, with acute species mortality possible at even small concentrations of one part per trillion (Weston and Jackson, 2009), yet urban runoff regularly contains concentrations greater than 20 parts per trillion (Weston and Lydy, 2012). A significant part of the runoff from urban areas encompassing Sacramento, California flows to the American River. Thus, the toxic level of the rivers and tributaries of the American River and its sensitivity to aquatic species has been studied through modeling efforts (Jorgenson et al, 2013). Urban runoff, which contains a considerable amount of bifenthrin, a subset of pyrethroids, makes up a large portion of the river flow after a storm event. Due to increased use of bifenthrin in Sacramento County, bifenthrin concentration can be as high as 0.018 ppb, which is more than 5 times the 96 h middle effective concentration (EC50) for loss of motion to most aquatic species (Weston et al., 2009; Holmes et al., 2008; Hintzen et al., 2009; Weston and Lydy, 2010). The aggregated sum of pyrethroids active ingredient (A.I.) used by licensed professional pesticide applicators in Sacramento County, California, was estimated as 4,025,246 lbs. in 2014, and among this, structural pest control and landscape ... The Incidence Of Alzheimer s Disease Essay Etiology The incidence of Alzheimer s disease is 36 million people worldwide as of 2010, making it the most common cause of senile dementia. 1This number is expected to nearly double, to 65.7 million by 2030.1AD is accompanied by pathological features consistent with brain atrophy and neural cell death. 1The inflammatory response of the brain, that is commonly found in AD, is linked to several factors. 1Amyloid B, inflammatory cytokines, and sphingolipids are some of the known factors associated with AD. 1Uncontrolled inflammation, from ongoing or chronic complement activation is theorized to impact Alzheimer s disease, among other diseases. 2 Recent GWAS shows strong evidence that complement receptor CR1 is linked to the development of AD, although the mechanistic basis for the CR1 risk remains largely unknown.2 Pathogenesis Emerging evidence demonstrates neuroinflammation as a crucial pathophysiology of AD, specifically impacted by microglia and astroglia. 3 The microglia are distributed evenly across the brain and are activated by protein aggregation and neuronal cell death. 3 Specifically related to AD, the two chief proteins involved are amyloid B and tau.3 An accumulation of microglia around amyloid B plaques has been documented in post mortem human brains and in animal models with AD.3 Research has yet to clearly determine if microglial activation plays a beneficial or detrimental role in the progression of AD..3 Some reports suggest that microglia are attracted to ... My instincts told me to get the unhulled which I did, although I was concerned the unhulled tahini sesame paste would not taste as sweet. Unhulled is stronger in flavour, a little bitter in taste, and darker in colour. However, you soon get used to the taste and after a while, it actually tastes really good. • 9. False Christian Teaching Many people can teach the Gospel, but few can present it in a way of compelling and authentic manner. Through his teachings to the Ephesians, Ignatius provides beneficial concepts for Christianity that are crucial for the Church to pursue. He commends the Ephesians to live in unity and communion with God, respect the authority placed over them, and stray from false teachings. His thought provoking ideas are absent from believers today and should be more vividly displayed in the lives of Christians. For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others (New International Version, Romans 12:4 5). Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep s clothing, but inward they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits (New International Version, Matthew 7:15). It is difficult when a convincing person attempts to change your hopes and beliefs because they can be so sly and can twist thoughts. However, sticking to what is true, holy, and pleasing to God is the only way to dodge the destruction of the Christian mind. False prophets and teachers have no place in the lives of Christians and should not be able to sway strong beliefs and claims. The Church today is victim to fictitious instruction and must remain faithful to what they know is true in God the Father. Ignatius teachings to the Ephesians will ultimately benefit the Church if they are lived out everyday. He instructed them to live as one in Christ Jesus, to respect the authority over them, and to stray from false prophets who seek to corrupt their minds. If Christians today began to pursue these ideas, the world as a whole would benefit greatly because Christ would shine so brightly in and through them. Most importantly, while many agree that genocide should never have happened to any race, by breaking down genocide from its many elements and events, valuable knowledge and understanding will result on how not to let it happen again. To begin, Anti Semitism was a huge thing with an enormous impact on all of these events. Anti Semitism was a pretty common phenomenon around the holocaust era, but it could have never been made clearer how much dislike the Germans had for the Jews than by having the holocaust. The holocaust was the most extreme method of showing contempt toward a person. The tragic point is that they became convinced and determined they were doing all of Germany a favor by getting rid of the Jews because they were just another flaw in the country; and Germans came to believe that. • 16. A Worn Path Analysis In A Worn Path , by Eudora Welty, we join Phoenix Jackson on her routine voyage to town for the medicine her grandson needs to survive. Throughout this short story, it is obvious that there are themes of persistence, struggle, and love. This struggle to the town is made apparent and is emphasized by the stories setting along with the use of symbolism, and mood/atmosphere of the story. The driving force behind the plot is this theme of persistence through the struggles and the idea that love conquers all, adds to Jackson s journey to the town to get the medicine. As Jackson makes her way she faces hurdles that would make a normal person turn back, such as the barbed wire fence (Welty, 503). But instead, Jackson carries on. I personally interpret that as a great statement of love. Jackson was willing to go through barbed wire fences to help her grandson. In addition, she not only was willing to go through the barbed wires but also was willing to beg so that she could get her grandson a toy. Nothing stopped Jackson from doing all that she could for her family and to me that means more than anything. Symbolism plays a large part in the telling of this story. Symbolism can be found in Phoenix Jackson s name just as much as in the small toy she buys her grandson. The name Phoenix is referencing a mythical bird that is believed to live in the desert and is capable of living up to 600 years. The Phoenix is said to set itself on fire only to rise once again from its ashes. The symbol of the Phoenix expresses the endurance and resilience of Phoenix Jackson. As she makes her way down the path she is embodying the long lasting characteristic of the Phoenix. In addition, Jackson is constantly picking herself back up, and keeping herself together. Just like the mythical bird, Jackson manages to continue on the harsh and tortuous path, rising from her own ashes, all out of love for her grandson. While the symbol of the phoenix is obvious, one might skip over the message behind the small toy Jackson bought for her grandson. The pinwheel, or windmill as Jackson called it, is a circular collection of blades that are pushed and turned in a continuous circular pattern by either wind or force (Welty, 507). This symbol ... • 30. A Experiment On Actin And Myosin Abstract Research was conducted on Actin and Myosin protein; chains of amino acid residue responsible for muscle contraction in muscle cells. Through phosphorylation, which causes changes in enzyme activity as result of an alteration in protein conformation, the Myosin Light Chain ½ stimulates and subsequently contracts the smooth muscle. Concentrations of the protein were determined and analyzed among Catfish, Atlantic Salmon, Sockeye Salmon, Shrimp, Red Tuna, Red Snapper, Tilapia, and Wild Cod. Electrophoresis provided a method of visualization of the samples, where Immunodection was then used to identify Actin/Myosin Light Chain ½ proteins. Wild Cod expressed the most Myosin LC ½ protein, whereas Shrimp expressed the least. Furthermore, both Wild Cod and Shrimp differed considerably in comparison to the determined volume intensity of the other seafood samples, which were closer in expression levels with one another. Animal behavior and habitat are factors that have overtime resulted in the overall amount and subsequent use of muscle. Thus analyzing the variance in Actin/Myosin ½ light chain protein expression serves as a tool in understanding adaptation and evolution among species. Introduction Actin and Myosin proteins serve the primary role of producing muscle contraction. Myosin molecules will create pressure in the skeletal muscle, where ATP hydrolysis causes Myosin to bind to Actin. A conformational change of the molecule then result in Myosin being ... Throughout both of these wars, he had gone through many tough situations. He did not agree with much that was going on during this time, including the communism that was starting to take place, as well as some people that were starting to believe in capitalism (Menand 084). Keeping the reader s attention was the main goal for Orwell, because of the fact that he was replaying situations that had already happened before, so he wanted people to know what he lived through. The Interpretation Of A Human Edmund Carnevale Mister Lister English Survey of British Literature 30 October 2016 The Interpretation of a Human How do a creature s actions portray them as human or monstrous? In what way do those who are not human act or look and if not human, then what are they? In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, it is observed that humans are characterized by showing compassion towards others and having character flaws, but Victor s creature s grotesque physical appearance causes society to abandon him. Humans will always have flaws and make mistakes, and this makes them human, but also shows one of the weaknesses that humans have. When Victor has destroyed the second creature in spite of his first creation, the malevolent creature shows up and foreshadows that something bad will happen on Victor s wedding night. This leads Victor to narrate, The prospect did not move me to fear; yet when I thought of my beloved Elizabeth, of her tears and endless sorrow, when she should find her lover so barbarously snatched from her (Shelly 156). Victor thinks about himself and is blind to the notion that his wife might possibly die. This proves that Victor s display of self centeredness is a trait that makes him human. After Victor had discovered that his creation had been the real murderer of his relative, William, he is shocked to find out that his cousin Justine Moritz had been accused and he says, My tale was not one to announce publicly; its astounding horror would be looked upon as madness ... • 37. Comparison Between Optical Telescope Systems And Modern... Background knowledge: The topic of this investigation is to compare and contrast three different optical telescope systems that are used in modern day times. The three main telescope systems that will be focused on in this report will be reflecting, refracting and cassegrain which is a combination of both and how different types of error such as aberration effect the telescopes ability to capture an image and the quality of the image it produces. Reflecting telescopes use mirrors to reflect incoming light rays onto a secondary mirror which magnifies it through an eye piece to form an image. (BBC, 2015) When light rays come in contact with the mirror they are called the incident ray and then when the ray reflects back off the mirror it is then called the reflected ray. As the light rays hit and leave the mirror at particular angles these are titled angle of incidence and angle of reflection which can be seen in the figure 2 below. By the first law of reflection it is assumed that the angle of reflection is equal to the angle of incidence. This would only be true for totally reflective flat surfaces. When light rays come into contact with convex and concave mirrors parallel to the normal they are reflected onto a focal point . To find the focal point of a mirror, the mirror formula can be used. 1/f=1/u+1/v Where f is the focal length, u is the objects actual distance away from the mirror and v is the distance the image is formed from the mirror.
