Ecology And Evolution Reflection Paper
Personal Reflection after Ecology and Evolution Being raised as an Evangelical Free Christian,
evolution was considered somewhat of a dirty word. This being said, I knew that there were parts
of evolution that were undeniably true. I also thought that science usually pointed towards evidence
of there being a God. I was never really a Young Earth Creationist. However, I still thought that
Young Earth Creationists could be right because in my opinion, God is omnipotent, and the flood
could have happened further back in history than estimated. The flood then could answer why the
continents look the way they do today compared to pangea, and it could also answer some other
geological problems with Young Earth Creationism. Although I thought it was still possible, I
thought it extremely unlikely. Instead, I thought that the Earth was created much longer ago, but
that God still created creatures in their own kinds , and that these kinds diverged into even more
species by natural selection. I knew evolutioncould change a species a little bit at a time to the
point where there would be two different species, but I wasn t sold on the whole idea that
Evolution could cause a fish to become a human. However, there were two major things that started
to change my mind. The first was the Harvard study with the petri dish that contained different
levels of antibacterial properties. This study showed that mutations can cause a significant change
in a species, and led to me thinking it

1.1 Identify the regulatory requirements, codes of practice and relevant guidance for managing
concerns and complaints in own area of work
The regulations that govern our company are Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated
Activities) Regulations 2010 and the Care Quality Commission (Registration) Regulations 2009
which are implemented by CQC. Specifically Regulation 19 of the Health and Social Care Act
2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2010 relates to complaints.

A Representative from the Board of Directors will then deal with the complaint at this stage and will
acknowledge the complaint within 5 working days. A written response will be sent to the
complainant within 28 days addressing any actions that have been taken including any internal
investigations that are deemed necessary. At any stage should a complainant feel they need to
contact an outside body they can contact the Social Worker and or CQC.
An audit trail of documentation and decisions reached are kept on file. As previously stated,
complaints can be made verbally, through sign language or in writing. If complaints are verbal or
through sign language then these conversations are documented in writing so as to provide an audit
trail of complaint.
As previously stated service user, family, social worker, neighbours and anyone else who
requires a copy is given a copy of the complaints procedure. This gives them the timescales and
procedure for making a complaint. It also tells them who will be dealing with the complaint. This
will be someone not involved in the complaint, ie if the complaint is about the Manager then this
stage will be skipped and the Senior Manager will deal with the complaint.
3.1 Promote a person centred approach to addressing concerns and complaints

role (or one that you are familiar with) can you identify at least 2 examples of when to seek help
from others? One example should refer specifically to dealing with poor standards. Example
When to seek help from others Would like to attend deaf and disability awareness course.
Discuss with team leader to book me onto course and make me available on the rota to attend
while ensuring all roles are covered. Police called department asking for details about a patient
who attended our clinic. Unsure if able to give information. Contacted information governance
guardian to ask for advice. Colleague constantly late for work. Clinics affected as no one to book
in patients. Raised concerns with team leader. 3. In your job role (or one that you know well),
why is it important that you seek help and report issues to others? State your answer below. If a
patient makes an enquiry and you are unsure of it is better to seek the correct information from a
colleague than to give the wrong information. It is important to report issues to others as you can
then ensure that you have taken the correct course of action. This person will also be able to

The New Way Of Life And Culture On The Lower East Side...
It goes without saying that all things, miniscule or monumental, are bound to become subject of
change. Change can be caused by a number of things, but for the women who s tales were
recanted in Immigrant Women in the Land of Dollars: Life and Culture on the Lower East Side
1890 1925 written by Elizabeth Ewen, change was especially imminent as they were forced to
exchange the old ways of their native countries for the new ways of America. Immigrant women s
lives were completely altered, as they had to adjust to American culture in an innumerable amount
of ways; they specifically saw change in how they perceived leisure and luxury, their views on
marriageand roles as wives, and also their expectations as daughters.
The first, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On a trip to the Upper East Side, Maria Ganz, a Jewish girl who had been growing up in a Jewish
tenement community, saw the stark differences between the two sides of Manhattan; the contrast she
saw between uptown wealth and ... the tenement districts led her to see things in new ways
(Ewen 21). The social environment of America was drastically different than what these
immigrant women were used to; in America there were distinct social classes that were
completely defined by how much money one had, or didn t have; while in Europe they had of
course dealt in money, but also dealt in barter or kind (Ewen 23) while in America everything was
measure in money terms (Ewen 23). This is not to say that middle class immigrant women did not
have their own form of luxury; while their day to day lives were still reminiscent of nineteenth
century life, many women indulged in meals at tasteful restaurants, shopping at department stores,
and finding more affordable variations of Fifth Avenue inspired fashion looks. While immigrant
women and families may have been discouraged to find that a life of extravagance and ease, as the
American dream had promised, may not be a viable option; it was certainly not impossible for
these women to adapt to the American culture and find their of versions of luxury.
Immigrant women in this era also saw a change in how the idea of romance and marriage correlated
as well as how they were expected to act as wives.

The Woman At Point Zero
The woman occupies a unique role in the process of exchange. She has a dual relation to
capitalist culture as she both consumes it herself, but is physically used as a commodity in it as
well (Roberts 88). Due to this dual relation , she is able to move through the classes in a manner
similar to a commodity. Her mobility is performative and relies on surface appearances. In Woman
at Point Zero, Firdaus explains to the woman interviewing her that because of the wealth she
earned in prostitution she purchased expensive beauty products that allowed her to play the part
of an upper class woman despite her middle class education and lower class background
(Sadaawi Point Zero 14). As an object, a simple manipulation of her appearance can alter her
value. However her position is twofold. Not only is she a commodity, but she is a laborer as well,
performing a service for the acquisition of money. Firdaus equates all femaleworkers to prostitutes
(Sadaawi Point Zero 124). In the eyes of the patriarchy women are instruments of pleasure, passion,
and sexual satisfaction, or receptacles for bearing children, or commodities to be bought and sold in
the marriagemarket (Sadaawi Hidden Face 77). A woman worked is still under the patriarchal
control of the management and due to the oversexed culture, her body is still abused. The female
employee offers up her body to men above her within the company for job security or a minimal
pay raise. Firdaus resists objectifying herself in

How Harry Is A Moral Figure During A Time Of War
Choices that Harry makes often lean him into dangerous situations and endanger other people, yet
his intentions are always in an attempt to help and it is their actions after a situation goes bad that
truly shows how Harry is a moral figure during a time of war. During Deathly Hallows, Harry,
Ron, and Hermione use the Polyjuice Potion to sneak into the Ministry of Magic to retrieve a
Horcrux, and in doing so, jeopardize the lives of the three employees, and the Cattermole family.
Harry and his friends good intentions were there they never expected that they would cause a
ruckus and endanger someone s life. However, once they realized this, they did as much as they
could to warn the family and the other families waiting to be tried about what was coming, and
warned them to run. Their intentions were pure, and they made a choice that they believed to be
safe for the impersonated party and when they realized the danger, they accepted the
consequences and sought to rectify the situation for all parties impacted: It s been decided that
you should all go home and go into hiding with your families, Harry told the Muggle borns, who
were dazzled by the light of the Patronuses and still cowering slightly. Go abroad if you can. Just
get well away from the Ministry. That s the er new official position. Now, if you ll just follow the
Patronuses, you ll be able to leave from the Atrium. (Deathly Hallows 264).

Art Museum Analysis
When walking into the freshly built art museum of West Virginia University one can
automatically feel a sense of serenity. The spacing of the art pieces and the way the light hit
them makes you want to take your time and examine every detail each work has to offer. It gives
you no other choice but to give your full, undivided attention to one piece at a time. The way this
museum was designed made it so I almost forgot about the rest of my day. Where I had to be
later, what class I had, when I had to be in for work, all of those everyday thoughts and worries
seemed to disappear when walking through those doors.
The piece that really stood out to me was a work by Thomas Cole. Cole s piece caught my eye
due to the simplicity of it. He took something as simple as a landscape and made it extremely
detailed and organic. If you take the time to look closely you can almost see where he made each
individual brush stroke. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though those seem to be bold, you can see the delicate detail put into each section making the
piece flow beautifully. His strokes are smooth, yet uneven, giving the piece an interesting twist.
The background offers a somewhat ominous sky, using what seems to be only whites and greys.
The background seems to be the most muted part of the piece whereas the middle ground really
grabs your attention with its vibrant colors. Cole uses yellow and muted brown to pop against the
hues of green in the trees. These pops of color among the tree scape really make this the focal
point of the piece. The foreground offers a very earthy feel with a simplistic pasture. Broken
colors of green and brown are used to display the ongoing naturalistic feel this work displays.
Towards the right of the piece you can see some sort of animal. Cole being a famous American
landscape artist would make it only obvious to have animals in some of his

Diane Arbus
Diane Arbus was originally born Diane Nemerov on March 14, 1923 to David Nemerov and
Gertrude Russek Nemerov. She was the daughter of a wealthy New York businessman. Her
family owned Russeks department store on Fifth Avenue, allowing Dian a pampered childhood.
As a member of a prominent New York family, she grew up with a strong sense of what was
prohibited and what was acceptable in high society. Diane s world was a protected one, with
little adversity; yet this very lack of adversity made her feel as thou she was living in ungrounded
world. As funny and different as it may seem, the ability to have a comfortable life was somehow
painful for her. An extremely shy child, she was often fearful but told no one of her scary

herself increasingly attracted to nontraditional people, people on the fringes of normal society.
This new avenue provided a release from the oppression felt in the fashion world. During this
time of her life she also suffered from recurring bouts of depression. Due to her mental state in
1957 the couple decided to make a drastic change. He would continue to run their fashion studio,

Joseph Smith or Brigham Young s Contributions to the Mormon Movement
Many settlers travelled east, but the most important religious group to travel east was the
Mormons. The Mormon religion was started by a person called Joseph Smith. A Smith grew up
on his farm, angles appeared telling him there was a book (written upon golden plates) on a
hillside near Manchester, New York. Once dug up, the plates were published in a translated
version, which contained statements of his father and brothers saying they had seen the plates.
Smith started to preach his new religion. He started off with five settlers which then grew to

After the death of the Mormon leader, a new leader called Brigham Youngwas introduced. Young
was convinced that the Mormons would not live in peace anywhere in the east. He had
guidebooks about the Oregon Trail, which contained the most reserved place in the entire west
which was near the Great Salt Lake. Young was an excellent organiser (he organised the move to
Nauvoo), a down to earth man, and was a determined man. He decided to move west and left
Nauvoo in the spring of 1846. The Mormons prepared for the great journey. As they entered the
South pass, they met a person called Jim Bridger, which warned Young Salt Lake Cityis not the
place to grow corn, as it gets cold at night. Young simply ignored him. As soon as the Mormons
arrived, they started the creation of there new city. The Mormons achieved a lot, but did not know
what was happening in the world around them. In 1848, America defeated Mexico in war. A large
amount of the Mexican territory was handed over to the US (which included Deseret, the new name
though by Young for the Mormon city). However, the US refused to recognise Deseret. After

La Belle Dame sans Merci Analysis Essay
La Belle Dame sans Merci, written by famous romantic poet John Keats in 1819, has been
declared one of Keats s greatest works due to the ambiguous boundaries it sets between
imagination and reality [Kelly]. Throughout the poem, the reader always questions the reality
presented by the poem, creating many facets that the readers have discussed for years and still
have not established a definite answer as to their true meaning. La Belle Dame sans Merciembodies
Keats s negative capability perfectly. Keats believed that people of great intellectual prowess must
retain the ability to accept that everything might not have a clear cut value and that there is not

The fantasy portion of the poem is created through the knight s tale, which envelopes the remainder
of the poem.
Stanzas IV through IX entail the quick relationship between the knight and the faery s child.
Stanzas IV through VI focus on the knight, showing his actions ( I met a lady, I made a garland, I
set her. ) The focus changes in stanzas VII through IX to the lady ( She found me roots, She took
me, She lulled me. ) This transference of leadership in action indicates a seduction of the knight and
that the lady is starting to become the one in control [Melani], contrasting from that presented by
stanzas IV through VI. The lady also seduces the knight with roots of relish sweet / and honey wild,
and manna dew, drawing the knight further into her grasp with her mystic and whimsical
mannerisms.
However, there is an inconsistency from the rest of the encounter that stands out. In stanza VIII,
the lady takes the knight to her elfin grot where she wept, and sigh d fill sore. This contrasts from
the cheerful and magical tone created in the preceding stanzas pertaining to the couple s time
together. This event could be the cause of the knight s expulsion from the lady s home and the
force behind the dream from the induced sleep. This

The Untimely Meditations Of 19th Century Germany
Contrarily to Lear, Nietzsche clearly underlines that the failure to become ourselves has not
simply to do with whether we live up to our ideals, but also with the fact that our ideals are bad
ones. Accordingly, these stand as obstacles to our way to achieve sagehood. Hence, in the first of
the Untimely Meditations Nietzsche does not criticize the cultural philistine of 19th century
Germany simply because he fail to be a man of culture . Indeed, the roots of Nietzsche s argument
lie in the fact that the cultural philistine s representation of life as a fully achieved man of culture
is wrong , insofar as it renders him unable to be in contact with all creative there is, and therefore is
cut off from the possbility of developing true culture.

Ethical And Moral Behavior And Christian World View
This is a study about one s ethical and moral behavior and Christian World View as related to
personal and professional growth and development. This study examines my personal views of
moral behavior and Christian World View as it relates to my expectation of what a manager in a
leadership position should posses and why. Growing up in a African American Baptist church
and ultimately landing in a diverse Christian Church has shaped my life and viewpoint when it
comes to values and beliefs. There are 5 characteristics that I believe a Manager should possess:
Authenticity, transparency, empowering, trustworthy and competence. These five

asking for help, complaining, apologizing, giving instructions, asking permission, standing up
for your rights, and setting a goal. Next he gives the youth a chance to try the skill by role

weeks, many skills are acted out. Gradually, the adolescent becomes comfortable using new
social skills, and is more likely to use them effectively in real life to avoid trouble (Glick, 1996).
In the fourth step, the adolescent is expected to use the skill in actual situations where he or she
might otherwise have resorted to violence (Glick, 1996). Glick s program also teaches specific
ways to handle anger. The adolescent must learn the following skills. Identifying triggers: external

Jane Goodall s books, Through a Window, In the Shadow of Man, and The Chimpanzees of

Through a Window, she gives her account of thirty years with chimpanzees in the village of

These would include Melissa, Figan, Gilka, Gigi, Jomeo, and Goblin. Although these characters
develop and change throughout the story, I feel that the more important development lies in the
narrator, Jane Goodall. During the course of these thirty years, she has scientific as well as personal
epiphanies. I suggested that the chimpanzees probably passed their tool using traditions from one
generation to the next, through observations, imitation and practice... (Goodall 19). She also
empathizes with the female chimps in what it is like to be a mother.
Goodall uses surprisingly easy syntax and word choice throughout the book. Although she is very
intelligent, she wanted an easy read for not only other scientists, but also for others wanting to learn
more about chimps. The simple language also becomes part of the theme that monkeys are
comparable to humans. She uses words that normally would describe a human child or adolescent
or adult, and uses them to portray a monkey also in the time in its life.
The order of chapters in Through a Window is extraordinarily choppy and irregular. Goodall hops
around from a chapter about a certain chimp, to a chapter about the power struggle within the
group, and back to another character, and so on. It doesn t impair the flow of the book, seeing that
if it was written in chronological order, it would be difficult to comprehend and follow.
The main purpose of Jane Goodall s

There is chaos and violence surrounding him, claiming justice to be perverted, and that
essentially, Yahweh is allowing the wrong to happen. This is not uncommon for prophets to
complain to God about their justified sense of pain. The thing that bothers Habakkuk is whether
or not God wants to save them, or even can in order to show that he is a God true to his values of
justice and righteousness. The main chunk of the prophecy is really delivered in Habakkuk 1:5
11, through the voice of Yahweh. It is that the Babylonians, a people that God is not
commending (Habakkuk 1:6) is going to rise up and seize the lands, and that they are
immensely powerful as well. They mention that they are going to rule with some resemblance
of justice, but it is justice according to their own standards, in response to Habakkuk s cry of
justice. It is not the ideal solution that anyone would look for in this situation. During the second
complaint that Habakkuk brings up, he says that God has made the people like fish, where there
is no ruler, and it would be contradictory to let the wicked whom are designed by Yahweh for His
purpose to take over those who are more righteous. Habakkuk says there is no warrant for them to
continue to seize nations with nothing to rely on besides their own excessive strength and pride.
However, God s response is to write down what he is going to say, in that God calls for patience

umbrella stroller. This type of stroller is typically the one parents envision when they consider a
second stroller that is compact enough to take on the go. This type of stroller is generally basic
and does not include any extras that are common on full sized strollers. The other type of
lightweight stroller is a bit bigger than an umbrella stroller but not as big as a standard stroller.
This type of lightweight stroller generally is more comfortable and has a few conveniences such
as under seat storage and larger sunshades. Budget As with most items you buy, price is always a
consideration. Lightweight strollers have a wide price range, depending on the features you are
looking for. It is not hard to find a lightweight stroller to fit any budget, and it is equally as easy
to find one that will break your bank account. So, it is a good idea to set your budget before you
start looking for a stroller so you can easily eliminate some choices right off the bat. Durability
Just as lightweight strollers come in a variety of price ranges, they also vary in their durability.

This medium level risk is mitigated by dedicating a network solely to dealing with the needs of the
secondary server.
There is also the risk of data confidentiality at the third level with the CSP. This is also a medium
level risk, which is mitigated by ensuring the contract drawn with the CSP enforces strict data
access level measures.
The business continuity plans guards Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability at all times. Ensure
confidentiality by enforcing access to the backups to only the disaster response team and the
system administrators in charge. Ensure integrity by verifying and validating the backup snapshots
after the backup is completed. Ensure availability by providing dual power to the backup servers
so that the business would not be disrupted at any time due to data center disasters.
CONCLUSION
Disasters are unforeseen circumstances and the only way of tackling them is to be thoroughly
prepared for the impact. The prime aim of having a Disaster Recovery and a Business Continuity
Plan is to have minimal impact on day to day businesses. The Three tiered business continuity plan
suggested above considers many aspects of unanticipated problems and shows readiness to work
around these

La Bahia Meaning
1.LA BAHГЌA. La BahГa, literally the bay, is a term with multiple meanings in Texas history.
Various sites on the Gulf Coast were so designated. The Spanish came to use the name as a short
form of La BahГa del EspГritu Santo, or Bay of the Holy Spirit, now called Matagorda Bay and
Lavaca Bay, bounded by present Calhoun, Victoria, Jackson, and Matagorda counties. (In 1519
Alonso ГЃlvarez de Pineda called the Mississippi Riverthe RГo del EspГritu Santo, and others
extended the name to the bay.) The official application of the name to Matagorda and Lavaca bays
occurred during the Spanish search for the French colony planted by RenГ© Robert Cavelier, Sieur

The Pond Is Healthy Or Unclean Essay
Introduction ~ Throughout the course of about a week, the 9th grade class at CEEC took
samples of the pond at UNCC for an experiment to determine whether or not if the pond is in a
safe or in a harmful environment and if the pond is healthy or unclean. University of North
Carolina Charlotte and its health is an important factor to the survival of the animals around it.
North Carolina is a southern US state with landscape ranging from the atlantic ocean to the
appalachian mountains. Charlotte is the state largest city it is home to the NFL s Carolina
Panthers and the Nascar Hall of Fame UNCC s campus has a early college program named the
Charlotte Engineering Early College, with a pond located to the left of CEEC.This pond is the
home to many animals such as fish, ducks, tadpoles, canadian geese, turtles, and cattail, and is a
source of water for the university. In order to be able to use this water, the pond health must be
healthy. However, what makes a pond really healthy?
Pond health is determined by its pH levels, its levels of biodiversity, its dissolved oxygen levels, its
temperature, its range of tolerance, its air temperature, and its amount of nitrogen. In order for a
pond to be healthy it must have the correct amount of each on of these things.
One significant factor to pond health is pH. pH stands for hydrogen of power, which is the
measurement of the hydrogen ion in the experiment you have to complete. pH is normally scaled
of based off of whether it is basic

Alabama Child Support Case Study
The non custodial parent (NCP), Mr. Pugh s testimony revealed that the bank account is in his
name, but the money in the account belongs to his wife. The dispute is regarding the money that
was frozen in the account. The money was from his wife s 401k retirement account. The NCP
verified that the account is a joint account, the money belongs to his wife, and he would not touch
her money. Mobile County DHR representative s testimony revealed that on June 26, 2003,
Georgia Child Support sent a request to Alabama Child Support to establish an order of support
against the NCP. Alabama courts established support for the child on August 23, 2004; setting
child support at a rate of $390.00 a month effective September 1, 2004. On December 8, 2008,...

DHR s Response: Based on the NCP s allegation of a mistake of fact the money taken out of
account ending in XXX528 is a joint account. The Child Support Enforcement Division
reviewed the facts and determined that $6,353.26 will be refunded to joint account owner,
Charlene Pugh. If the bank has already submitted the funds, a check will be mailed to Mrs.

to file a Notice of Lien against real and personal property of any NCP who resides or owns

Credit risk is the possibility that the actual return on an investment or loan extended will deviate

Symbolism In Go Tell It On The Mountain
In Go Tell It on the Mountain, James Baldwin works with themes of gender, violence, and
change. He does this through Florence, Gabriel, and the symbol of morning. The author is trying
to say people s decision can be determined by external factors. Florence is treated differently
because she is girl. Education is not offered to her, but to her brother who hates to learn. And he
needed the education that Florence desired far more than he, and that she might have got if he had
not been born. She should take all the responsibilities and do all the works at home as a woman.
And she [mother] wanted Florence, also, to be content helping with the washing, and fixing meals
and keeping Gabriel quiet... Florence was a girl, and all the duties of a woman; and this being
so, her life in the cabin was the best possible preparation for her future life. Her mother has
different attitudes toward her and her brother. Gabriel was the apple of his mother s eye. If he
had never been born, Florence might have looked forward to a day when she would be released
from her unrewarding round of labor, when she might think of her own... Show more content on

to leave her home and pursue freedom. And this became Florence s deep ambition: to walk out
one morning through the cabin door, never to return. The morning is a turning point of Elizabeth s
life because she is going to lose her love and hope. And on Monday morning he was not at work.
She left during the lunch hour to go to hid room. He was not there. His landlady said that he had

Nick starts of the evening s main event with this statement: Abhi and Andrea Dutt, are a couple

monastic community known as TaizГ©. There will be elements of guided meditation, centering
prayer and beautiful music. Abhi begins to play the guitar well before he starts singing, and the
our chorus of voices join his as we catch on to the lyrics. There is sheet music somewhere but the
idea is to listen to the repetitive ballads with your eyes closed so you can focus within. His wife
Andrea also begins to play her instrument, the cello. Another important aspect of TaizГ© is that
the group leads because of this each ballad can last from three to five minutes depending on how
many people continue to sing. At first I thought it would be hard for us to stop all at the same

everyone stopping when they wanted to it created a pleasant echo effect. The service overall was

The Effects Of Multitasking On College Students
While the consequences for teens who multitask during school time are severe, Luke 3 multitasking
also results in an excessive amount of wasted time. It takes several tenths of a second for the
cerebral cortex to switch from one task to another, and those tenths are what cause teens problems
(Kuchinas, Why MultitaskingIsn t Efficient ). The timeit takes to switch tasks decreases focus,
which makes teens slower in their activity ( Keim, Is Multitasking Bad For Us?). An experiment
conducted by Isenburg placed 89 college students in three different groups, assigning them to read
a psychology text. One group received instant messages before reading, one group received them
after, and one group received no instant messages while reading. The results of the procedure
revealed that the groups which read the instant messages took considerably longer to read the text
than those who didn t receive messages (46, 47).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Multitasking not only wastes time, but creates habits of speed and switching for teens. Speed is
the modern, natural high, asserts Dr. Edward Hallowell (Kuchinas, Why Multitasking Isn t

popular. This atmosphere can become problematic in the real world, since there are many times
when teens will have to focus on one activity. As PhD David Meyer states, Doing several tasks
simultaneously may seem like the height of efficiency and it would be, if a person had more than
one brain. In the real world, multitasking actually wastes time and reduces work quality ( Why

Compare And Contrast David And Goliath
The story of David and Goliath from the Old Testament has been told not just from the Bible, but
also from art. The people of Florence identified themselves with David because they shared the
belief that they defeated their own enemy with the help of God. Three artists sculpted a portrayal of
David; Donatello, Michelangelo, and Bernini. Within each period, a different sculpture was created
of Davidto represent new art ideas and techniques. Artists from the early Renaissancestrived to
portray lifelike human forms with accurate proportions and realistic clothing. They developed new
techniques to give paintings a more three dimensional form in an effort to better understand their
subjects. Donatello s bronze statue of David is the first free standing nude sculpture since the
Roman Era. It depicts David with a slight smile, posed with his foot on Goliath s head after the
defeat. The statue is completely naked, adding a hat and boots which shows a... Show more content

Teleological Argument
The Teleological Argument, God s Attributes, and Miracles: A Compounded Contradiction
Introduction
Some Abrahamic theists claim that the harmony of the universe is proof of an intelligent designer.
This argument is known as the teleological argument and has evolved from classical philosophy to
modern theology. In addition, subscribers of the Abrahamic religions also hold that Godhas
attributes that include omniscience, omnipotence, and benevolence. Fundamentally, God is all
knowing, all powerful, and all good. In contrast, God created a perfect universe that is in harmony,
but occasionally practices miracles. Can the teleological argument, miracles, and God s attributes
coexist in a rational universe? This essay s goal is to demonstrate that ... Show more content on

One would assume that this final solution would not be attractive to theists, because of the negation
of God s predicates of omnipotence, omniscience, and benevolence. In contrast, some Abrahamic
theists may be satisfied with the reasoning that there cannot be miracles. However, this contradicts
fundamental aspects of their faith. For example, the story of the Virgin Mary is a miracle that is
fundamental to Christian and Muslim faith. According to the story, Mary was selected to be the
giver of birth to God s son, the angel Gabriel delivered the news to her. She was impregnated by the
Holy Spirit and then gave birth to Jesus Christ as a virgin. If a theist is willing to disregard the
Virgin Mary being a virgin, then this may disrupt fundamental aspects of Christian and Muslim
faith. Moreover, this would mean either that Jesus was not the son of God and thus he would not
have divine attributes such as the ability to work miracles, or that Jesus never existed at all.
Consequently, Jesus would have never died for humanity s sins and thus all humans would be
damned to hell. Therefore, Abrahamic theists cannot accept argument (a) without disrupting
fundamental aspects of their faith, and argument (b) demonstrates that God cannot have certain
attributes and create

identical across the different forms of media. Unlike her blue coated portrayal in the earlier

We Real Cool Gwendolyn Brooks Analysis
We Real Cool, by Gwendolyn Brooks is a fervent short poem that tells a story of teenage rebellion.
This poem is a formal verse ballad which uses simple sentences that create a steady meter giving the
poem a catchy jazz like quality. Although the poem is short, it packs a powerful message about
youth. Gwendolyn Brooks centered her works predominately around the African American
consciousness. During the 1960 s when the poem was written, many teens especially young
African American men felt misunderstood and like the world was set up for them to fail. On
the surface, it appears this poem is a mere description of young adults that are misjudged. The
deeper message of this poem addresses the dangers of peer pressure, and its detrimental effects
to self identity because of the disconnect between society and youth of that time. Peer pressure
can take place whenever people gather and spend frequent time together. Most people are subject
to its effects and often experience it because of shared experiences or they share the same
perspective on life. This becomes dangerous when a group has enough influence to dictate an
individual s way of thinking or behavior. When an individual is desperate to find a place to
belong, they will follow the crowd even if they know that they are participating in something
immoral; this is demonstrated in We Real Cool. As the poem begins, the reader is introduced to the
subjects of the poem, The Pool Players. Seven at the

I choose the topic Racism in today s society because it is a topic that dramatically effects our way

everyone.
My position on the topic of racism is that it s a negative faction in our society that results in death

The importance of racism in America.
Racism in the U.S. is important and should be know because it is an important part in our history
that shaped America. People are not born racist, people who are racist were usually raised in an
atmosphere that embraced it. Racism is a negative faction in our society that affects you and

Oedipus The King, By Sophocles
Shakespeare said about leaders, Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and others have
greatness thrust upon them. In the story of Oedipus the King, written by Sophocles, Oedipus
fits Shakespeare s description of leaders in many ways. He was born in royalty then discarded by
his family. Oedipus rose in life to achieve greatness and because of a series of events had
greatness thrust upon him. The same series of events eventually became his downfall, but
Oedipus was a good leader. He had traits similar to leaders of today. Oedipus was a dedicated
moral leader and did his best while looking for truth like Merkel, in addition similar to Trump
and Schwarzkopf, he was confident and acted swiftly to reach his goals. Oedipus is moral,
dedicated, and works to save the city while trying to find the truth about the death of King Laius.
Oedipus was told of the prophecy that he would kill his father and marry his mother. In the story,
Oedipus decides to leave his home and parents to avoid taking a chance that the prophecy will
come true. Oedipus makes the decision based on what he knows, like many good leaders, to be
proactive to a potential problem. He believes by leaving his home and parents, he will avoid all
chances of a causing something with tragic consequences that morally he cannot live with.

What Led To Progressivism Dbq
What led to progressivism was the Industrial Revolution. This brought prosperity to America but
at a great cost. While the big businesses were booming and making America a stronger country
the middle and lower class was suffering. This was called the Gilded Age because when an
outside country would look at America it would assume they are fine but on the inside it isn t. This
all changed however when the people had enough of bad working conditions, unfair wages,
dangerous machines, and child labor. Through the persistence of the people and the help of two
very progressive presidents named Theodore Rooseveltand Woodrow Wilsonthey changed the
country for the better. Progressivism was effective on a national level for some aspects but not all.
The people also wanted to have a more safe and fair working environment. Before progressivism
there was no laws on food or product production making it very unsafe for the consumer to know
what he is buying. Journalists called muckrakers would call attention to this by writing about the
horrible conditions in factories. One of these muckrakers named Upton Sinclair wrote a book called
The Jungle which talked about the unsanitary atmosphere the meat was produced in. This book
brought so much attention that the Meat Inspection Act was passed in 1906 by president Roosevelt.
This act made strict cleanliness requirements for meatpackers to ensure the general people a healthy
meal.(Document B). Another act that was passed at this time

Compare And Contrast Vampires And Zombies
Vampires V. Zombies
When people combine their fears and imaginations, they end up with some fascinating, yet
horrifying, creatures. Killers of the night, such as vampires, or the extinction of the human race,
usually due to a zombie outbreak. Vampires and zombies are both fictional beings who have made
their way into society through years of storytelling, novels, and media. However, what sets them
apart from each other? While they are both products of our eerie imagination, which one s
existence is more believable?
What are vampires and zombies? Vampires suck the humanblood at the time of night. But their
brains are pretty much functional. On the other hand, zombies are brain dead and they feed on
human flesh at any time of the day (ReComparison.com). Vampires are intelligent and cunning,
using their wisdom to attract prey. A common behavior of vampires is seduction; this is because
vampires are usually attractive. It helps with getting an easy meal; they don t have to deal with too
much of a fight, unlike zombies. Zombies don t have much wit and must chase after their prey.
With their brainless behaviors, zombies don t have individual personalities. They are all similar and
act on the same instinct. Vampires are full of their individual... Show more content on

Vampires and zombies are both fictional. However, one does have more of a possibility of being
real. The origin story of vampires is that they were the dead rising from hell to wreak havoc; this
makes it hard to believe they could exist, considering not everyone believes in an underworld. On
the other hand, bacteria are all around us and spread viruses all over the world. This is the origin
of the modern day zombie, they are no longer the dead becoming the living, instead, it s a highly
contagious virus that spreads throughout the world. There is even a type of fungus that has been
known to zombify ants. Making the chance of a zombie invasion even more

From 1842, Charles and his family began to travel throughout the world. Initially visiting Canada
and the United States. He later travelled to Italy, Switzerland and France.
After his tour of the US and Canada, he published American Notes which didn t go down well in
the US, being that, at that time, it was a relatively new nation and hadn t developed much of an
attitude or sense of humour to anti slavery. Alternatively it could have been that Charles expressed
an offensive attitude towards tobacco chewing, which, by his own account was practiced widely.
In 1845, Dickens founded an amateur theatrical company which he continued until the end of his
life and was to take up a great deal of his time. He later travelled with Wilkie Collins and Augustus
Egg, the former of which co wrote the play The Frozen Deep with Dickens.
In 1856, Dickens bought an estate that he had held a high regard for since childhood, Gad s Hill.
Hans Christian Anderson, visited the family there regularly until he out stayed his welcome.
First public paid readings began in 1858 and continued until three months before he died in 1870.
These readings became enormously popular, after all, no one was able to portray the characters
better than the author himself. These performances took place in many locations throughout
England, Scotland, Ireland,

Taking a Look at Sports Drinks
Sports drinks are drinks consumed by athletes and professional sports men and woman to
rehydrate and replace energy. Sports drinks contain varying levels of fluid, electrolytes and
carbohydrate which all play a role in rehydrating and replenishing the body after strenuous
physical activity. There are three types of sports drinks on the market; isotonic, hypotonic and
hypertonic. Isotonic drinks provide the athlete with fast fluid replacement which was lost by
sweat, these drinks provide a boost of carbohydrate, this type of drink is the most preferred by
athletes as these contain glucose which is the body s preferred source of energy. Hypotonic drinks
are the same as isotonic but don t contain the carbohydrates this is ideal for athletes who want fast
hydration but don t need the energy boost. Hypertonic sports drinks are said after exercise to top up
muscleglycogenstores using carbohydrates. The thing that all these different types of sports drinks
have In common is that they are designed to improve or maintain athletic performance, and prolong
dehydration. The isotonic and hypotonic drinks both contain electrolytes potassium and sodium;
electrolytes are very important in the body with many functions.

Strength And Limitations Of The International Catcher Theory
The International Fisher Effect
The international fisher effect is based upon two theories, The first is the purchasing power parity
and the second is the general fisher effect. The purchasing power parity mentions that exchange
rates would move in ordered to offset the differential in the inflation rate of the country, while the
fisher effect states that the expected real rate of return and rate of inflation can been seen in the
nominal interest rate. The fisher effect and the international fisher effect are connected, but they are
not the same. The international fisher effect is an expansion of the fisher effect, where the theory
suggests that the changes in exchange rate would of a country is proportional to the difference in
nominal interest rate between the two countries. So international fisher effect analyses the current
interest rate and future interest rate between countries to predict the foreign exchange movements.
The international fisher theory suggests that countries that have high interest rate will have a high
nominal interest rate (as it reflects the countries inflation) and the currency of the country would
weaken (depreciate). .
Strengths and limitations of the International Fisher Effect
The IFE can be utilized to clarify and demonstrate the connection between a nations inflation rate,
Interest rate and exchange rates. The IFE hypothesis can be utilized as a part of anticipating the
exchange rates between nations over the long run

Gran Torino Ethos
We have seen Clint Eastwood many times before Gran Torino. Over a long career, he has
portrayed many distinctive roles that have included cowboys, police officers and boxing managers.
Even though the roles differed in time and place, they were often characterized by a strong sense of
independence and commitment to seeing difficult challenges through to the end. The end often
meant the death of villains. Eastwood s many roles have created an Eastwood ethos, or philosophy,
that his fans have been able to count on in each movie, no matter their genre or historical context.
Gran Torino is a departure from the Eastwood ethos, however, because of the way that Walt deals
with the villains. Walt s miming the shooting of the gangbangers with his fingers... Show more

The scenes occur mostly in and around Walt s and Thao s homes over the course of a film.
Editors often use fade ins and fade outs to indicate changes in time, especially when the
locations remain the same. The editors used straight cuts rather than fades in expressing its
story. In the scene when Walt tells Thao to dig up a neighbour s tree, the editor uses various
alternating scenes of Walt smoking and watching while Thao digs in the rain. The cameras
shots of Walt and Thao are separated by various dissolves. What gives the film its strength is the
way Eastwood shows Walt struggling with his prejudices and coming to terms with a changing
world and with his inner demons, many of the latter stemming from the horrors he witnessed in
the Korean War. Finally, it turns into a kind of modern western, with Walt preparing for a finale.
At the end of the film I have picked up a flaw and it appears when Walt takes Thao to get a job
and to see how true American friends of different backgrounds work together. They do this
through racial insults, calling each other wops and polack s, and there s a very funny scene with
Walt s pal, an Italian American barber. making jokes of race suggests an unlikely mocking self
awareness on Walt s part that makes his social isolation seem

Difference Between Pharmacy And Clinical Pharmacy
Retail vs. Clinical Pharmacy
Options abound in the field of pharmacy. Two popular paths in pharmacy are clinical (or hospital)
pharmacy and retail (or community) pharmacy. Retail pharmacists work either at a pharmacy in a
store or at an independently owned pharmacy, while clinical pharmacists work directly with
physicians and patients in a hospital or other health care facility ( What Pharmacists Do ). Both
clinical and retail pharmacy jobs have their specific benefits and drawbacks, but retail pharmacy is
more advantageous to a recent pharmacy graduate pursuing this career.
Retail pharmacy involves less stress than clinical pharmacy. In retail, the pharmacist s main task is
issuing medication to customers ( What Pharmacists Do ). They stock and label medications, fill
prescriptions, direct customers about the use of the drugs, give them general medical advice, and
answer questions they might have about over the counter medicine ( What Pharmacists Do ).
Likewise, clinical pharmacists work with customers, which are in this case the patients, but they
also interact personally with doctors; in the hospital, some pharmacists may even go on patient
rounds with them ( What Pharmacists Do ). Clinical pharmacy entails consulting with doctors
about medications and recommending a course of action, not just filling prescriptions ( What
Pharmacists Do ). Both clinical and retail pharmacy jobs require patience and a love for helping
people, but a clinical position may be more stressful

The Dutch Republic Downfall Essay
Within 1650 to 1713 the Dutch Republic underwent a formidable transformation, which changed its
status as a major influence in Europe. The Dutch Republic was a political union of seven provinces
that was not only an impressive banking and commercial capital, but the Dutch also had a great
navy as well. Additionally, the center of flourishment in the Dutch Republicwas Amsterdam, which
was the foremost trading and banking center in all of Europe. The changing environment of the late
seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries forced the Dutch Republicinto a position of conflict and

Additionally, another major conflict of militaristic means was against the English, in which
approximately 2,000 to 2,700 Dutch ships were seized by the English in the three Anglo Dutch
Wars, (Doc. 3). This document primarily showed that Dutch had major troubles with their security
to other foreign nations. England was the main competitors of the Dutch for trade during this time
period, and these seizing of ships made perfect sense if the English wanted to come out on top. For
example, these conflicts are shown on a map of the naval battles between the English and Dutch,
during the years 1652 1674, (Doc. 1). On the map the most battles occurred between the Dutch trade
route that went through waters close to England, which ended up being one of the biggest
challenges to the Dutch republic militarily. Marquis de Pamponne, French ambassador to the Dutch
Republic, reported to the French government that the wars between the English and Dutch were
primarily over trade and obtaining trade routes, (Doc. 11). This document was written by a foreign
opinion to the French government because the French were obviously curious about these conflicts
that were occurring. More importantly, this document showed trade routes were a major cause of
challenges on the military on the Dutch, which caused an increase

Today s generation of teenage would much rather watch reality television shows then be forced

question Why do we keep dragging class after, kicking and screaming, through the wilds of
Romeo and Juliet ? High schooler are just uninterested in Shakespeare he use complex old
English words and talks about completely irrelevant things. Students would much rather be
doing anything other than reader Shakespeare against their will. An example of the complexity
language used by Shakespeare is the scene in Romeo is describing Juliet voice. In the scene it
says She speaks. O, speak again, bright angel, for thou art As glorious to this night, being o er

  • 2. Ecology And Evolution Reflection Paper Personal Reflection after Ecology and Evolution Being raised as an Evangelical Free Christian, evolution was considered somewhat of a dirty word. This being said, I knew that there were parts of evolution that were undeniably true. I also thought that science usually pointed towards evidence of there being a God. I was never really a Young Earth Creationist. However, I still thought that Young Earth Creationists could be right because in my opinion, God is omnipotent, and the flood could have happened further back in history than estimated. The flood then could answer why the continents look the way they do today compared to pangea, and it could also answer some other geological problems with Young Earth Creationism. Although I thought it was still possible, I thought it extremely unlikely. Instead, I thought that the Earth was created much longer ago, but that God still created creatures in their own kinds , and that these kinds diverged into even more species by natural selection. I knew evolutioncould change a species a little bit at a time to the point where there would be two different species, but I wasn t sold on the whole idea that Evolution could cause a fish to become a human. However, there were two major things that started to change my mind. The first was the Harvard study with the petri dish that contained different levels of antibacterial properties. This study showed that mutations can cause a significant change in a species, and led to me thinking it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The New Way Of Life And Culture On The Lower East Side... It goes without saying that all things, miniscule or monumental, are bound to become subject of change. Change can be caused by a number of things, but for the women who s tales were recanted in Immigrant Women in the Land of Dollars: Life and Culture on the Lower East Side 1890 1925 written by Elizabeth Ewen, change was especially imminent as they were forced to exchange the old ways of their native countries for the new ways of America. Immigrant women s lives were completely altered, as they had to adjust to American culture in an innumerable amount of ways; they specifically saw change in how they perceived leisure and luxury, their views on marriageand roles as wives, and also their expectations as daughters. The first, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On a trip to the Upper East Side, Maria Ganz, a Jewish girl who had been growing up in a Jewish tenement community, saw the stark differences between the two sides of Manhattan; the contrast she saw between uptown wealth and ... the tenement districts led her to see things in new ways (Ewen 21). The social environment of America was drastically different than what these immigrant women were used to; in America there were distinct social classes that were completely defined by how much money one had, or didn t have; while in Europe they had of course dealt in money, but also dealt in barter or kind (Ewen 23) while in America everything was measure in money terms (Ewen 23). This is not to say that middle class immigrant women did not have their own form of luxury; while their day to day lives were still reminiscent of nineteenth century life, many women indulged in meals at tasteful restaurants, shopping at department stores, and finding more affordable variations of Fifth Avenue inspired fashion looks. While immigrant women and families may have been discouraged to find that a life of extravagance and ease, as the American dream had promised, may not be a viable option; it was certainly not impossible for these women to adapt to the American culture and find their of versions of luxury. Immigrant women in this era also saw a change in how the idea of romance and marriage correlated as well as how they were expected to act as wives. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Woman At Point Zero The woman occupies a unique role in the process of exchange. She has a dual relation to capitalist culture as she both consumes it herself, but is physically used as a commodity in it as well (Roberts 88). Due to this dual relation , she is able to move through the classes in a manner similar to a commodity. Her mobility is performative and relies on surface appearances. In Woman at Point Zero, Firdaus explains to the woman interviewing her that because of the wealth she earned in prostitution she purchased expensive beauty products that allowed her to play the part of an upper class woman despite her middle class education and lower class background (Sadaawi Point Zero 14). As an object, a simple manipulation of her appearance can alter her value. However her position is twofold. Not only is she a commodity, but she is a laborer as well, performing a service for the acquisition of money. Firdaus equates all femaleworkers to prostitutes (Sadaawi Point Zero 124). In the eyes of the patriarchy women are instruments of pleasure, passion, and sexual satisfaction, or receptacles for bearing children, or commodities to be bought and sold in the marriagemarket (Sadaawi Hidden Face 77). A woman worked is still under the patriarchal control of the management and due to the oversexed culture, her body is still abused. The female employee offers up her body to men above her within the company for job security or a minimal pay raise. Firdaus resists objectifying herself in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. How Harry Is A Moral Figure During A Time Of War Choices that Harry makes often lean him into dangerous situations and endanger other people, yet his intentions are always in an attempt to help and it is their actions after a situation goes bad that truly shows how Harry is a moral figure during a time of war. During Deathly Hallows, Harry, Ron, and Hermione use the Polyjuice Potion to sneak into the Ministry of Magic to retrieve a Horcrux, and in doing so, jeopardize the lives of the three employees, and the Cattermole family. Harry and his friends good intentions were there they never expected that they would cause a ruckus and endanger someone s life. However, once they realized this, they did as much as they could to warn the family and the other families waiting to be tried about what was coming, and warned them to run. Their intentions were pure, and they made a choice that they believed to be safe for the impersonated party and when they realized the danger, they accepted the consequences and sought to rectify the situation for all parties impacted: It s been decided that you should all go home and go into hiding with your families, Harry told the Muggle borns, who were dazzled by the light of the Patronuses and still cowering slightly. Go abroad if you can. Just get well away from the Ministry. That s the er new official position. Now, if you ll just follow the Patronuses, you ll be able to leave from the Atrium. • 8. Art Museum Analysis When walking into the freshly built art museum of West Virginia University one can automatically feel a sense of serenity. The spacing of the art pieces and the way the light hit them makes you want to take your time and examine every detail each work has to offer. It gives you no other choice but to give your full, undivided attention to one piece at a time. The way this museum was designed made it so I almost forgot about the rest of my day. Where I had to be later, what class I had, when I had to be in for work, all of those everyday thoughts and worries seemed to disappear when walking through those doors. The piece that really stood out to me was a work by Thomas Cole. Cole s piece caught my eye due to the simplicity of it. He took something as simple as a landscape and made it extremely detailed and organic. If you take the time to look closely you can almost see where he made each individual brush stroke. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though those seem to be bold, you can see the delicate detail put into each section making the piece flow beautifully. His strokes are smooth, yet uneven, giving the piece an interesting twist. The background offers a somewhat ominous sky, using what seems to be only whites and greys. The background seems to be the most muted part of the piece whereas the middle ground really grabs your attention with its vibrant colors. Cole uses yellow and muted brown to pop against the hues of green in the trees. These pops of color among the tree scape really make this the focal point of the piece. The foreground offers a very earthy feel with a simplistic pasture. Broken colors of green and brown are used to display the ongoing naturalistic feel this work displays. Towards the right of the piece you can see some sort of animal. Cole being a famous American landscape artist would make it only obvious to have animals in some of his ... Her family owned Russeks department store on Fifth Avenue, allowing Dian a pampered childhood. As a member of a prominent New York family, she grew up with a strong sense of what was prohibited and what was acceptable in high society. Diane s world was a protected one, with little adversity; yet this very lack of adversity made her feel as thou she was living in ungrounded world. In the 1950s she also found herself increasingly attracted to nontraditional people, people on the fringes of normal society. This new avenue provided a release from the oppression felt in the fashion world. During this time of her life she also suffered from recurring bouts of depression. Due to her mental state in 1957 the couple decided to make a drastic change. He would continue to run their fashion studio, leaving her free to find and photographic subjects of her own choosing. In 1958 Arbus enrolled in a class, Model was offering at a New School. It was during this period Diane decided, what she really wanted to pursue photographing the different. She saw her camera as a sort of all access pass, that allowed her to be curious, nosy, and to explore the lives of others. Gradually she overcame her shyness. Young was an excellent organiser (he organised the move to Nauvoo), a down to earth man, and was a determined man. He decided to move west and left Nauvoo in the spring of 1846. The Mormons prepared for the great journey. As they entered the South pass, they met a person called Jim Bridger, which warned Young Salt Lake Cityis not the place to grow corn, as it gets cold at night. Young simply ignored him. As soon as the Mormons arrived, they started the creation of there new city. The Mormons achieved a lot, but did not know what was happening in the world around them. In 1848, America defeated Mexico in war. A large amount of the Mexican territory was handed over to the US (which included Deseret, the new name though by Young for the Mormon city). La Belle Dame sans Merci Analysis Essay La Belle Dame sans Merci, written by famous romantic poet John Keats in 1819, has been declared one of Keats s greatest works due to the ambiguous boundaries it sets between imagination and reality [Kelly]. Throughout the poem, the reader always questions the reality presented by the poem, creating many facets that the readers have discussed for years and still have not established a definite answer as to their true meaning. The fantasy portion of the poem is created through the knight s tale, which envelopes the remainder of the poem. Stanzas IV through IX entail the quick relationship between the knight and the faery s child. Stanzas IV through VI focus on the knight, showing his actions ( I met a lady, I made a garland, I set her. ) The focus changes in stanzas VII through IX to the lady ( She found me roots, She took me, She lulled me. ) This transference of leadership in action indicates a seduction of the knight and that the lady is starting to become the one in control [Melani], contrasting from that presented by stanzas IV through VI. The lady also seduces the knight with roots of relish sweet / and honey wild, and manna dew, drawing the knight further into her grasp with her mystic and whimsical mannerisms. However, there is an inconsistency from the rest of the encounter that stands out. In stanza VIII, the lady takes the knight to her elfin grot where she wept, and sigh d fill sore. This contrasts from the cheerful and magical tone created in the preceding stanzas pertaining to the couple s time together. This event could be the cause of the knight s expulsion from the lady s home and the force behind the dream from the induced sleep. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Untimely Meditations Of 19th Century Germany Contrarily to Lear, Nietzsche clearly underlines that the failure to become ourselves has not simply to do with whether we live up to our ideals, but also with the fact that our ideals are bad ones. Accordingly, these stand as obstacles to our way to achieve sagehood. Hence, in the first of the Untimely Meditations Nietzsche does not criticize the cultural philistine of 19th century Germany simply because he fail to be a man of culture . Indeed, the roots of Nietzsche s argument lie in the fact that the cultural philistine s representation of life as a fully achieved man of culture is wrong , insofar as it renders him unable to be in contact with all creative there is, and therefore is cut off from the possbility of developing true culture. ... I suggested that the chimpanzees probably passed their tool using traditions from one generation to the next, through observations, imitation and practice... (Goodall 19). She also empathizes with the female chimps in what it is like to be a mother. Goodall uses surprisingly easy syntax and word choice throughout the book. Although she is very intelligent, she wanted an easy read for not only other scientists, but also for others wanting to learn more about chimps. The simple language also becomes part of the theme that monkeys are comparable to humans. She uses words that normally would describe a human child or adolescent or adult, and uses them to portray a monkey also in the time in its life. The order of chapters in Through a Window is extraordinarily choppy and irregular. Goodall hops around from a chapter about a certain chimp, to a chapter about the power struggle within the group, and back to another character, and so on. The thing that bothers Habakkuk is whether or not God wants to save them, or even can in order to show that he is a God true to his values of justice and righteousness. The main chunk of the prophecy is really delivered in Habakkuk 1:5 11, through the voice of Yahweh. It is that the Babylonians, a people that God is not commending (Habakkuk 1:6) is going to rise up and seize the lands, and that they are immensely powerful as well. It is not the ideal solution that anyone would look for in this situation. It portrays David is the middle of the battle against Goliath. It was one of the first statues that involved its surroundings. Season 8 Episode 19 Opie s Drugstore Job When thinking of TV shows (I really did want to say old) that dealt with moral dilemmas, it did not take but a few seconds to think of the Andy Griffith Show. I really enjoyed these rerun show growing up. The episode I thought of was Season 8 Episode 19 Opie s Drugstore Job. Opie is trying to earn money to purchase a new electric guitar. After unsuccessful attempts of finding an afterschool job, Opie places an ad in the town newspaper as a Job Wanted ad, which caught the attention of the local Pharmacist/corner fountain store. This episode exhibited several example of moral dilemmas, ethical decisions, and consequences of unethical behavior. Example 1: Mr. Crawford the Pharmacist, lost his fountain soda employee. Mr. Crawford needed someone for the afternoons and Saturday s. He asked Andy (Sheriff Taylor) how he felt about Opie, not as a son, but as a worker. Teleological Argument The Teleological Argument, God s Attributes, and Miracles: A Compounded Contradiction Introduction Some Abrahamic theists claim that the harmony of the universe is proof of an intelligent designer. This argument is known as the teleological argument and has evolved from classical philosophy to modern theology. In addition, subscribers of the Abrahamic religions also hold that Godhas attributes that include omniscience, omnipotence, and benevolence. Fundamentally, God is all knowing, all powerful, and all good. In contrast, God created a perfect universe that is in harmony, but occasionally practices miracles. Can the teleological argument, miracles, and God s attributes coexist in a rational universe? This essay s goal is to demonstrate that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One would assume that this final solution would not be attractive to theists, because of the negation of God s predicates of omnipotence, omniscience, and benevolence. In contrast, some Abrahamic theists may be satisfied with the reasoning that there cannot be miracles. However, this contradicts fundamental aspects of their faith. For example, the story of the Virgin Mary is a miracle that is fundamental to Christian and Muslim faith. According to the story, Mary was selected to be the giver of birth to God s son, the angel Gabriel delivered the news to her. She was impregnated by the Holy Spirit and then gave birth to Jesus Christ as a virgin. If a theist is willing to disregard the Virgin Mary being a virgin, then this may disrupt fundamental aspects of Christian and Muslim faith. Moreover, this would mean either that Jesus was not the son of God and thus he would not have divine attributes such as the ability to work miracles, or that Jesus never existed at all. Consequently, Jesus would have never died for humanity s sins and thus all humans would be damned to hell. Therefore, Abrahamic theists cannot accept argument (a) without disrupting fundamental aspects of their faith, and argument (b) demonstrates that God cannot have certain attributes and create ... • 36. We Real Cool Gwendolyn Brooks Analysis We Real Cool, by Gwendolyn Brooks is a fervent short poem that tells a story of teenage rebellion. This poem is a formal verse ballad which uses simple sentences that create a steady meter giving the poem a catchy jazz like quality. Although the poem is short, it packs a powerful message about youth. Gwendolyn Brooks centered her works predominately around the African American consciousness. During the 1960 s when the poem was written, many teens especially young African American men felt misunderstood and like the world was set up for them to fail. On the surface, it appears this poem is a mere description of young adults that are misjudged. The deeper message of this poem addresses the dangers of peer pressure, and its detrimental effects to self identity because of the disconnect between society and youth of that time. Peer pressure can take place whenever people gather and spend frequent time together. Most people are subject to its effects and often experience it because of shared experiences or they share the same perspective on life. This becomes dangerous when a group has enough influence to dictate an individual s way of thinking or behavior. When an individual is desperate to find a place to belong, they will follow the crowd even if they know that they are participating in something immoral; this is demonstrated in We Real Cool. As the poem begins, the reader is introduced to the subjects of the poem, The Pool Players. Seven at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. What Led To Progressivism Dbq What led to progressivism was the Industrial Revolution. This brought prosperity to America but at a great cost. While the big businesses were booming and making America a stronger country the middle and lower class was suffering. This was called the Gilded Age because when an outside country would look at America it would assume they are fine but on the inside it isn t. This all changed however when the people had enough of bad working conditions, unfair wages, dangerous machines, and child labor. Through the persistence of the people and the help of two very progressive presidents named Theodore Rooseveltand Woodrow Wilsonthey changed the country for the better. Progressivism was effective on a national level for some aspects but not all. The people also wanted to have a more safe and fair working environment. Before progressivism there was no laws on food or product production making it very unsafe for the consumer to know what he is buying. Journalists called muckrakers would call attention to this by writing about the horrible conditions in factories. One of these muckrakers named Upton Sinclair wrote a book called The Jungle which talked about the unsanitary atmosphere the meat was produced in. This book brought so much attention that the Meat Inspection Act was passed in 1906 by president Roosevelt.
