When thinking of TV shows (I really did want to say old) that dealt with moral dilemmas, it did
not take but a few seconds to think of the Andy Griffith Show. I really enjoyed these rerun show
growing up. The episode I thought of was Season 8 Episode 19 Opie s Drugstore Job. Opie is
trying to earn money to purchase a new electric guitar. After unsuccessful attempts of finding an

This poem is a formal verse ballad which uses simple sentences that create a steady meter giving the
poem a catchy jazz like quality. Although the poem is short, it packs a powerful message about
youth. Gwendolyn Brooks centered her works predominately around the African American
consciousness. During the 1960 s when the poem was written, many teens especially young
African American men felt misunderstood and like the world was set up for them to fail. On
the surface, it appears this poem is a mere description of young adults that are misjudged. The
deeper message of this poem addresses the dangers of peer pressure, and its detrimental effects

Today s generation of teenage would much rather watch reality television shows then be forced
to reader plays written almost more than half a millennium ago. Author Alexandra Petri ask the
question Why do we keep dragging class after, kicking and screaming, through the wilds of
Romeo and Juliet ? High schooler are just uninterested in Shakespeare he use complex old
English words and talks about completely irrelevant things. Students would much rather be
doing anything other than reader Shakespeare against their will. An example of the complexity
