Essay The Elizabethan Monarchy
The Elizabethan Era was from 1533 (the birth of Queen Elizabeth 1) till 1603 (her death). Queen
Elizabeth was the one who was responsible for what happened to the country during this era. For
Queen Elizabeth, being part of the Elizabethan Royalty was a tough and challenging task. She
played an important role within the religious conflicts for power between England and it s
neighboring countries, had the constant pressure to produce a successor, and had to endure sexual
discrimination for being a woman on the throne of England without a male counterpart. After King
Henry 8th s death, there was a dispute over who should rule over England, Queen Elizabeth or
Mary Queen of Scots. Who were both his daughters by different spouses. Queen... Show more

These people were closely associated with Mary Queen of Scots for it included Mary s mother,
Mary of Guise. At the time the Guises had bigger problems to worry about than the Elizabethan
throne. This is when the Scottish Factor came into action. For Elizabeth s good fortune the Scottish
Presbyterian Church had despised Catholicism and therefore gave Queen Elizabeth their support of
her claim to the throne. With the support that Queen Elizabeth needed she was able to start planing
a military intervention to Scotland which would end up in a war with France. An intervention is the
interference by a country in another s affair. Elizabeth signed a treaty with Scottish rebels in which
she agreed to have an open intervention if the Scottish Protestant lords would protect Elizabeth in
the event that the French invaded. In March of 1560 war began and the months that followed
France had threatened to ally with Spain if England refused to surrender. It wasn t until thousands
had lost their lives did the religious war end with a treaty, the Treaty of Edinburgh. The treaty was
signed July 6, 1560, confirming Queen Elizabeth s right to the throne. It was through this struggle
that Queen Elizabeth was even able to get to claim her birth right. Her decisions did not only affect
her country but also the neighboring countries. The importance of a successor during the
Elizabethan Era was tremendous. When Queen

Paracetamol Lab Report
The first step in the extraction of paracetamol was to crush the tablets. If I didn t do this then it
would have been difficult to dissolve them. To weigh them, we had to make sure that we used
the most accurate scales as possible as accuracy could be an issue. The spirit level should be
calibrated so that we can rule out the issue of accuracy. Another problem we could have had in
the practical was the method of filtering. The filter paper could have been too small so the filtrate
could have gotten over the top of the funnel and then we would have had insoluble impurities.
Also when doing this, we had to be careful that none of the filtrate ran down the beaker or we
would have lost some yield. The filter paper could have been poor quality

Question No 1:
The project management field has developed in the previous 20+ years. Until the1980 s, project
management basically centered around giving timetable and asset information to top management in
the military .
Presently the field has extended and has included more noteworthy obligation. I don t think there
are numerous fields out there that don t use some type of project management to actualize or
redesign new gear, thoughts, or programming.
Question No 2:
A project is a brief attempt grasped to make a stand out item, administration, or result .
Fundamentally, it s an errand that can be expansive or little and can utilize little or numerous
assets to finish. It can require a little investment or can be a long procedure to finish contingent
upon the current workload. Projects are unique in relation to what individuals do amid their
everyday lives in light of the fact that a day by day routine is a piece of the operation of their
business. It s something that will dependably be done to finish their every day work. A project is
something that is interim and is utilized to enhance the business. The triple requirement is the three
primary bits of a project that have set restrictions. Degree, time, and cost objectives are those three
primary pieces. Despite the fact that they

Why Is American Samoa s Unhealthy Culture
In contrast, American Samoa is the country with the highest obesity rate, with 74.9% of the total
population classified as obese. The country has cultivated an unhealthy culture. Since most healthy
and natural ingredients are imported from other countries to the island, they are often more
expensive. Fast food restaurants offer cheaper, more easily accessible alternatives. In addition, the
traditional foods of the islands such as fresh fish, meat, and local fruits and vegetables have been
replaced by rice, sugar, flour, canned meats, canned fruits and vegetables, soft drinks and beer. The
diet is high in calories and with little nutritional value. According to cdc.gov, research shows that
actions to promote healthy eating, such as providing calorie information, were rare among
restaurants. This site... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, in both grocery and convenience stores, several of the healthier option items were more
expensive than the corresponding regular (less healthy) option items. The majority of both
providers also had signs/displays that encouraged less healthy eating (e.g., promotional signs
encouraging purchase of canned corned beef). In addition, costs of healthier items were more
expensive than less healthy items in American Samoa restaurants. Healthier entrГ©es and side
items were more expensive than the less healthy entrГ©es and side items. There were also minimal
efforts to promote healthy eating, such as providing calorie or other nutrition information,
identifying healthy items with menu labeling on menus, and having menu notations that encourage
healthy requests. The absence of government intervention, regulation, and public awareness in
relation to the rate of obesity and levels of nutrition suggests a correlation between the efforts of
food providers and healthy

Emergency Department Ratios
Soleimanpour et. al (2011) explained that patient satisfaction is an essential component in the
Emergency Department (ED) because it is the entrance for patients to receive their initial
treatments. The most important and single possible cause for ED patients flow problem is the
availability of inpatients beds (Peck et. al, 2012). The American College of Emergency
Physicians (ACEP) (2011) explained that the primary cause of ED overcrowding is boarding;
which was defined as holding patients in the ED after the admission had been completed due to
unavailability of inpatient beds. Lutheran Medical Center faced this problem and in his paper will
discuss analysis of the problem, determination of possible quality lapses, identification of
performance measures, designing and evaluation of the interventions and reporting of the results.
The quality improvement tool which would be used to analyze the problem is the Root Cause
Analysis (RCA), which is a post hoc process to evaluate a problem after its occurrence (Lighter,

Pre Assessment Of Student Interest
Pre Assessment of Student Interest: To assess student interest in planning a school dance, I would
use a bubble map. I would ask the students Have they ever attended a school dance? Then I would
ask If you have attend a school dance write down what you liked about the dance. If you haven t
attend a schooldancewrite down what you think you might like to have at a school dance. Example
of bubble map: Students may add more off shoots bubbles if they need to. My PBLBubble
Map.docx
As students complete their bubble maps, I would ask them to come up to one of the six poster
papers hanging on the wall, and write one or two of their likes that they had written down. Once
all students had a chance to write down a like on one of the poster papers, the class as a whole
would compare the six list and discuss what they had in common and uncommon with their
classmates as far as what they would like to have at a school dance.
Project Hook: The day that I am pre assessing student interest, with the bubble map and the poster
papers, the classroom will be decorated with balloons, decorations, and streamers. I will call the
principal to my class and she will unveil the project by explain what services she is requesting for
the school dance by the party planning company. The company winning the bid will provide a
demonstration dance for the class.
Driving Questions: How can you plan and budget for a school dance while working within a fixed
budget and make a profit?

Harry Connick Research Paper
The life of Harry Connick Jr. leads an entirely different arc. Harry Connick Jr. is entirely the
opposite of James Carroll Booker III as he leads a drug free lifestyle, is married and incredibly
famous. Harry is known as an actor, musician, producer and American Idol host: he has become
a household name among most Americans. However, what they share is their indentured
servitude to the belief, playing styles and traditions that unite them as New Orleans pianists.
Born on September 11, 1967 in New Orleans, LA, Joseph Harry Fowler Connick, Jr was born into a
family of lawyers. His mother, Anita Frances, who was a lawyer, judge and later a Louisiana
Supreme Court justice and his father, Joseph Harry Fowler Connick, Sr., who served from 1973

Harry Connick Jr. began much like James Booker in the sense that they began at a prodigal

Essay On Online Shopping
Introduction
Online shopping or online retailing is a form of electronic commerce whereby consumers directly
buy goods or services from a seller over the Internet without an intermediary service. An online
shop, eshop, e store, Internet shop, webshop, webstore, online store, or virtual store evokes the
physical analogy of buying products or services at a bricks and mortar retailer or shopping centre
As we know that online shopping is the easy way shopping but also there are certain advantages as
well as disadvantages. To overcome the technological challenges as well as global challenges most
of the business organizations are running towards ecommerce or e business.

3.Conclusion/ Recommendation
Based on the project leading individuals to reallocate their time and money resources, this study
examined the time and cost attributes of shopping modes, and explored the tradeoff between these
two attributes, i.e., the value of time, by assuming that consumers were faced with a shopping
mode choice between physical store shopping and e shopping. The final estimated value of time
include two types: the value of travel time to shopping places, physical stores as far as this study
concerned, and the value of waiting time for the delivery of purchased products.
Of course consumers concern toward e shopping is not only about time and cost. Some
psychological aspects, such as information uncertainty and transaction security, have been playing
an important role in dominating consumers e shopping behavior, and have been even more widely
discussed in the literature. However, ecommerce continues to advance, in speed and security in
particular, it is generally believed that online information will be to a great extent improving both in
quantity and quality in the near future. By that time, consumers negative perceptions towards e
shopping, such as information uncertainty and transaction security, may fade away. If this is going
to be true, then consumers psychological concern over e shopping may gradually be disappearing in
the future.
On the other hand, the economic concern over the travel problem; i.e.,

A White Heron Literary Analysis
Countless stories of various heroes and heroines have all followed the same cycle from the
beginning to the conclusion of a hero s life. The cycle begins from an event affecting the hero s
life leading them on a quest that is typically filled with some form of adventure. The hero is
equipped for the quest with a type of power or aid from the supernatural to support them against
trials. Typically, the trials are used to prove a heros worth and even bring a change of behavior
within the character. A difficult sacrifice is then made by the hero as they near the end of their
journey, and will come to experience either physical or metaphorical death, to which they are
rewarded significantly. The short literature titled A White Heron, written by Sarah Orne Jewett
, fits
the hero archetype by the main character experiencing a sudden adventure full of trials to the
reward of the quest s completion.
Within the story, A White Heron, the reader is first introduced to the young main character,
Sylvia, whose everyday life is interrupted by an unexpected event. As Sylvia is leading her cow
home through the forest, she hears an unusual whistle. Her curiosity leads her to meeting a
seemingly lost, yet handsome man she had never seen before. Sylvia learns that the man is a
hunter, and especially has a passion for hunting birds. The hunter claims he is specifically looking
for a white heron and he is willing to give Sylvia and her grandmother 10 dollars if she finds its
nest for him.

How Does Elie Wiesel Use Dramatic Irony In Night
The number of students in the Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools District could be multiplied by
five hundred to reach the number of Jewish deaths during the Holocaust. This number would
equal six million lives. Of these six million, one million were at the Auschwitz complex, where
the family of Elie Wiesel was killed. Known as the world s largest graveyard, Auschwitz was the
last place many Jewish people knew, including Elie s mother and sister, who were killed
immediately upon arrival. Elie was only 15 when he was taken from his home in Sighet, Hungary
to the concentration camp of Auschwitz Birkenau in 1944, but the persecution of the Jews began as
early as 1933. Many have speculated why the victims of the Holocaustdid not see their fate... Show

This situational irony is used to show how the blinding optimism and denial of the Jews
contradicts what will actually happen to them. One source of situational irony shows how the
expectations differed from reality when The families arrived in Auschwitz with their most
treasured possessions packed into suitcases. On the outside of each case, the unsuspecting
owners wrote their names and dates of birth, believing their things would be returned (Winfrey
Wiesel). The fact that the Jews are being forced into cars meant for animals and taken to what
would be most of their deaths is so different from what the Jewish people expected. The Jews
believe they are being taken to eastern Europe, and this journey is just a small relocation, so
they can live in safety until the war is over. They pack their finest possessions for their stay,
when their belongings would actually be taken from them as soon as they get to the camps. This
optimistic look on the deportation is responsible for the unpreparedness of the Jews. Their
expectations differ from their new reality, and they are unsure of what they can do to help
themselves once they get there. Situational irony is also shown in Night as the Jews attempt to
pack for the camp with food, and Elie describes, The women were cooking eggs, roasting meat,
baking cakes, and making knapsacks (Wiesel 25). The Jewish

Down Syndrome Case Study
What is her age adjusted risk for Down Syndrome? Per ACOG Practice Bulletin #88, (2007) her
risk for Down Syndrome is 1:267, whereas her risk for any chromosomal abnormality at this age
is 1:148. This also translates as the risk of not having a baby affected by Down Syndrome is
266:267 and not having any chromosomal abnormality as 147:148. How does this compare to the
risk of diagnostic testing? At 11 weeks, her risks of pregnancyloss from invasive testing are greater
than those of finding the anomaly. Non invasive testing, such as Nuchal fold testing and Beta hCG
and PAPP A can be done at this point with no risk to the fetus

What are the differences between diagnostic and screening tests? Diagnostic tests actually diagnose
a condition by finding the chromosome involved in the defect. Screening tests look for markers that

Shopping Is A Popular Pastime For Americans
Shopping is a popular pastime for Americans; it is a way to relieve stress, bond with friends, and
keep up with new trends. Shopping can be a method of therapy for those who need to lift their
spirits; however, with low self control it can become an impulse shopping addiction Impulse
shopping is the act of purchasing goods without prior planning as a result of sudden desire. It can
be an addictionbecause hedonic products bought impulsively induce an exciting rush, which turns
into a cycle to recreate the pleasure. Of course, not all people become impulse shoppers, there are
different types of shoppers, with varying emotions, psychological conditions and genders. What all
shoppers have in common is that they are all targeted by consumer culture, businesses want them to
buy their products and they know how to do it. Businesses constantly expose people to advertising
in every form such as TV, Internet, magazines, and in public communities. Marketing strategies are
developed, achieved through studies on shoppers, to entice customers to impulse shop. New
technology such as TV and Internet shopping makes impulse shopping accessible right at our
fingertips. It s easy to impulse shop due to the constant reminder of shopping and how it can
improve our mood. Customers that are emotional stressed are likely to impulse shop due to lack of
self restraint. Businesses know that people want instant gratification and take advantage of
customer s emotional state. Ultimately, because

Electronic Medical Records
Computer Based Medical Records Abstract In the medical field there have been a lot of
technological advances and making health records electronic is one of them. The days of having
a paper health record are almost obsolete. An electronic health record keeps a patient s medical
information and history on a computer which is accessible to more people in less time. I will
explain how the continuity, communication, coordination and accountability of the electronic
health record can help the medical office. I will explain what can be included in the electronic
health record. As an advocate of the electronic health record I will also explain some disadvantages
to the electronic system. Computer Based Medical Records Electronic... Show more content on

All the patients files should be backed up at least on a weekly basis to ensure that none of the
information is lost. (HIPAA, 2011) Another way for accountability of the electronic health
record is to have each person in the office has a key card or password to access the system. This
will allow for the physician to check back and see if anyone is releasing information or making
changes that are not authorized. This also allows for physicians to find out who made changes
to a patients record if information is inaccurate. (HIPAA, 2011) Electronic Health Records will
include the same information as the paper record. This includes basic patient information such as
demographics, medical history, medications, allergies, laboratory results, radiology images, and
billing information. (2006) Each individual doctor can specialize their system and what they
want it to include. They can add different components to the electronic health record that are
important to them and needed in their practice. (2006) Even though I am an advocate for the
electronic health record there are drawbacks to the system. Each individual physician will have
to determine if the drawbacks are worth the advantages of the system. One of the drawbacks to
the system is privacy. Privacy will always be a big factor. Some patients may not like the idea of
having their medical information easily accessible by almost anybody. (The HWN Team, 2009)

How Did The Black Death Affect Europe
The condition that Europe was in before the Black Death struck was ultimately one of the main
reasons for the disease s quick spreading. One bad condition that helped to make the Black Death
even more deadly was the population boom of Europe in the Thirteenth and Fourteenth Centuries
(Kagan et al. 292). Another pre existing condition that hurt the health of Europe was the multiple
famines that would come to be known at the Great Famine (Kagan et al. 292). The last cause of the
Black Deathbeing able to spread so rapidly was the economic depression that occurred shortly
before the plague began. With all of these conditions combined, many Europeans citizens were
weakened so much that the Black Death easily killed many of them and in some cases,... Show

This depression can be attributed to many different things, one being the Great Famine. The
Great Famine helped to cause the depression because of the crop failures that it created. Farmers
could not produce enough crops to support themselves or trade in the market, and the economy
suffered as a result. In addition, the changes made to the economic system by Philip IV would
later hurt Europe substantially (Rothbard). One of these changes includes when Philip started
the system of taxation in France, issuing a strong sales tax on Champagne (Rothbard). He began
to really take control of France, virtually taking over the Catholic Church and the papacy.
Blinded by power, Philip IV early in the Fourteenth Century began to attack England (Rothbard).
The Hundred Years War was almost fully commenced by Philip IV and the effect that this brutal
war would have on France, England and Europe was palpable (Rothbard). Because of the war,
the initial taxes that Philip IV put in place were raised, and several other new types of taxes such
as ad valorem were issued as well (Rothbard). The high taxes that were put in place caused an
inflation in France s currency, and the cost of the war was quite high as well. The Hundred Years
War severely hurt both the English and French economies in numerous ways, and caused an
economic depression that further weakened Europe before the Black Death would even begin. This
economic depression exposed Europe additionally due to the fact that many Europeans were unable
to afford the food and goods that they needed to keep their health up and

Philadelphia Art Museum Essay
The exhibit that I viewed at the Philadelphia Museum of Art was one about European Art between

Medieval and Early Renaissance as well as objects from the Middle East. This exhibit was an
important part of the history of the Philadelphia Museum of Art because for the first time, Italian,
Spanish, and Northern European paintings from the John G. Johnson collection were shown. It

The cloister stood in the heart of a medieval abbey or monetary. The example that I saw was based
on the elements of the cloister located at Abbey of Saint Genis des Fontaines in the Roussillon, a

centuries . The cloister was the center of the abbey; which connected the living quarters to the
church.
I also observed many paintings in this gallery. One painting that caught my eye was titled, The
Mocking of Christ by Hieronymus Bosch. It was an early 16th century, oil on wood painting.
Christ was seen in the upper right next to Pilate and was surrounded by figured who looked more
like friends than enemies that would crucify him. These so called friends of Christ were holding
weapons and wearing bizarre headgear. In the painting, Jesus had a saddened look on his face
while the others looked jollier. Another painting that I observed was a painting by Defendate
Ferrari which showed the enthroned Virgin Mary breastfeeding the baby Jesus with Saint John the
Evangelist, Catherine of Alexandra, Anthony Abbot, and a saint reading a book. I was attracted
to this painting because I would never have thought to have seen a picture of Mary feeding Jesus
in that way. This painting was originally an oil and gold on wood and was transferred to canvas.

Rain Or Snow By Thomas C. Frost

AP Eng. Lit. Period 3

Rain or Shine
Weather was used as a literary technique throughout the novel of Thomas C. Foster. It is not yet
explained until the ninth chapter titled Its More Than Just Rain or Snow . He begins with a very
common line among stories; It was a dark and stormy night. This ensures the same response from
all readers. Rain can be used to add dramatic effects to a scene which is why we all have the same
negative reaction to the phrase. The main idea Foster is trying to explain is that rain never means
rain. We sense that rain is always to be associated with negative feelings and or outcomes. Foster
explains that there is much more to it.
Rain can be used as a way to show ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would be the lesser side of snows purpose to literature. It can also be used as a source of hope.
Snow actual can be useful if you are to bury yourself in it. It works as an insulator which can be
used to give a positive vibe by the written scenes involving it.
We have covered rain and snow. There s one that has been left out; fog. So far we have been
blessed with both rain and snow having negative and positive reflections on the scene. That is
not the case with this one. Fog is used to express uncertainty. The thicker the fog the less you can
see literally but in a figurative way an author can use it to show a tough decision needing to be
made by a character or an undetermined future or path. It can spark fear in the eyes of those
surrounded by it. We, being human, re scared of the unknown. Fog is the perfect way to display
this lack of knowledge through the use of weather. It blocks the light. We know that all things bad
lie within darkness but the problem is that we do not know what specifically is within it. This
gives the author a chance to direct the story in a new direction. It is an escape route in a way.
Authors can use fog to divert the characters in a different direction which results in an overall
change of the plot.
There s more to weather than just cloudy days. The sun can be used to describe a sort of
happiness given off by a character. It can be used to show a positive take on an altered path. You

Why People Go Bald Research Paper
Why Do People go bald ?
Have you ever gone down the street and seen a bald* person and ever wondered why is that
person bald . Baldness is sometimes known as alopecia* which means hair loss to the head or the
body. But there can be many reasons for why people go bald and some reasons are that hair
accessories have an effect on hair and chemotherapy, shaving for cancer or a family gene.
Hair Accessories !
Hair accessories may be super cute to wear and to make your hair nice and pretty. But these
super cute accessories can be a nightmare ! These accessories can be a reason why you are going

Some people who have enough courage shave all their hair off to raise money for cancer patients
and all that money is goes to one of their loved ones or a complete stranger . Also people who
shave their hair for cancer must have great courage to do this generous thing to help one person .
But some are actually going through a similar thing because cancer patients loose hair from
chemotherapy and people shave hair for cancer.
Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy is a treatment to fight against cancer but some people who go through
chemotherapy start to loose . People with cancer who start chemotherapy* start to loose hair within
a month . People who have chemotherapy start to lose hair in chunks after radiation therapy and
thats when chemo* patients come to their senses and they shave the remaining chunks of hair off.
Family Gene
Some people who are bald may get the baldness from another family member which may include
Grandparents and Parents who may be bald. So which means you inheriting a look from a family

Volkswagen Business Ethics Essay
Abstract
In this paper, we will look at the business ethics controversy that was caused by Volkswagen and
the company had to pay up to $15 billion dollars to settle a civil court case. The controversy was
caused when it was found out that Volkswagen had installed a device in their diesel engine cars.
This device reduced pollution caused by the engine when it was being tested for emissions. This
resulted in cheating the authorities and promoting Volkswagenas an environmentally friendly car
when it was not actually one. It had these devices installed on most of its car models. The
company initially had an increase in sales but then was eventually caught and had to pay a large
sum of money as mentioned above to settle a lawsuit.
Keywords: Volkswagen, business ethicscase, lawsuit, leadership
Volkswagen Business Ethics
On September 18, 2015 Volkswagen hit the news with a scandal relating to unethical practices
involved in the production of its diesel cars (McHugh, 2015, October 12, para. 3). Volkswagen
used a device to pass the emissions test when the emissions on these cars were higher than the
allowed levels; thereby the company cheated the system.
Emissions Device The company declared that it had a cheat device installed on its 11 million
diesel operated cars. What the device did was that it lowered the engines emissions when it was
going through an emissions test. The car easily passed the emissions test and later the device
returned emission levels back to normal,

Policy Changes In Social Work
Today s social workers are faced with an array of challenges that demands them to act effectively
and efficiently. Having the ability to apply certain skills and knowledge concerning policy, as
well as advocating for policy changes make for a successful social worker. However, it may be
difficult to advocate for certain policy changes due to barriers that protect some laws and policies.
Implications for practice suggest social workers should consider the micro, mezzo, and macro levels
that impact clients they serve. Locating resources and implementing programs can allow social
workers to meet the immediate needs of their clients. The juvenile population for example, suffers
from mental health issues, trouble building relationships, school performance,

Transitioning For A Child
The process of transitioning for a student who is approaching transition age is important because
a child is moving on to their next phase in life and that can be difficult, even for a child without
ID. However, a child that has ID needs to have steps and guidance in order to be prepared for what
is to come. A childwith disabilities will fail or even fall beyond if certain things are not in place.
In order for the student to succeed the educational system must provide transition services which
should be tailored to the student and their needs. What this looks like is having annual goals and
objectives in order to get to the annual goals. This will allow the student to be able to succeed. The
areas of the student s future life outside

Disney, an Irish Canadian, who was a building contractor, and his mother, Flora Call Disney, was
German American, who was a public school teacher. Walt was one of five children, four boys
and a girl. He lived most of his youth in Marceline, Missouri, where he began painting, drawing,
and selling pictures to neighbors and family friends. In 1911, his family moved to Kansas City,
where Walt acquired a love for trains. His uncle, Mike Martin, was a train engineer who worked
the route between Fort Madison, Iowa and Marceline. Later, Walt would work a summer job
selling snacks and newspapers to travelers at the railroad. (Grice, 2013) In 1917 the Disneys

drawing and photography classes and was a contributing cartoonist for the school paper. At
night, he took courses at the Chicago Art Institute. When Walt was 16, he dropped out of school
to join the Army but was rejected for being underage. Instead, he joined the Red Cross and was
sent to France for a year to drive an ambulance. (Editors) Early Cartoons Walt returned from
France in 1919. He moved back to Kansas City and became a newspaper artist. His brother Roy

In the end, the action game players were up to 25 percent faster at making conclusions and were
just as accurate as the other group. This study concludes that action video game players brains are
more efficient at collecting visual and auditory information and make faster and just as accurate
decisions (Video Games Lead to Faster Decisions). The study stated that the reason why action
video gameplayers can make faster decisions is because they use a process that is probabilistic
inference. According to the same article, probabilistic inference is when the brain continuously
gathers multiple small pieces of visual or auditory information as a person looks at a scene,

One of the biggest factors that video games have impacted is peoples health. Video games have
good and bad factors to peoples health. For example some problems that video games have
impacted are obesity, aggressive behavior and cognition, sleep deprivation and many others.
They have also impacted the problem of addiction. One would figure out after researching this
subject that just being a male gender increases addiction of video games. Video games can also
be a healthy and therapeutic. Games also change how people think and how peoples brain
works. They have enhanced peoples visual skills and actually make it easier to create new
sensorimotor skills. Peoples thought process have also been impacted because of video games.
People that play action video games are proven to have faster decision making but as accurate as
people that do not play video games. Video game players interpret the world differently than non
video game players. Nolan Bushnell once stated, Video games foster the mindset that allows
creativity to grow (Colzato). This quote is stating that video games promote creativity and help

How Does Josie Change Throughout The Novel
Josie Jessop, the main character in Sylvia Olsen s thought provoking book, White Girl, would be a
good fit at St. Ignatius because she possesses many characteristics which are beneficial for an SI
student, such as her ethnicity, her ability to adapt to new surroundings and situations, and the fact
that she is not easily intimidate. These characteristics are present in many SI students and would
allow Josie to jump right into the flow of things at St. Ignatius.
Josie could fit into the St. Ignatius scene for many reasons, but likely the biggest and most obvious
reason is her ethnicity. Josie, A.K.A Blondie, has blond hair and blue eyes. This description is not

Josie adapts to changes in a relatively short period of time which allows her to thrive in many
different areas. In the prologue, the readers learn that the life altering move to the reservation
was basically just sprung upon Josie and her opinion was seemingly disregarded: That s how it
was when we lived in the city, where almost everyone was like me I blended in. Then with one
move, I became a white girl, painted like a picket fence plain as day, whiter than white
(Prologue). By no means was Josie s life pre reservation easy, her economic/social status placed
her and her mom as white trash, yet it was easier in the big city then on the res. In the city
everyone looked like her, everyone talked like her, and did similar things, but on the res no one
looked like her. On the reservation she was the outcast, different from everyone but that didn t stop
her from making friends or going to school. Josie s mom, Lenore is the one who has more trouble
adapting to the new surroundings, and this results in Josie taking the lead in terms of upholding
the family image and making new family friends. At the end of the book, Josie sounds as if she
has lived on the reservation her whole life: June 21 was mom and Martin s first anniversary... An
open invitation, to the family, and anyone else who wanted to attend... And I want you to invite
your friends, I want everyone to come (Chapter 17). At the beginning of the book, Josie

The Island President Jenid Research Paper
Former President Mohamed Nasheed of the Maldives Islands once said, If we do not act now,
my island nation will be submerged by the sea . In his 2011 documentary, The Island President,
President Nasheed voices his concern for the rapid impact of climate change on his country. The
Maldives are beginning to face their future as sunken islands, and if nothing is done to prevent
rapid sea level changes, the islands will face destruction. President Nasheed recognized this, but
following a political coup d Г©tat, on February 2, 2012, he was forced to resign and was replaced
by President Abdulla Yameen. Unlike Nasheed, President Yameen lacks the sturdy political
leadership that is necessary to fight climate change, and due to this, the Maldivian economy,
society, and ecosystem will collapse.
Mohamed Nasheed became President in October 2008 in the first free presidential election in the
Maldives. He quickly became known worldwide for his efforts to help his country, broadcasting
his hope for the Maldives to become the world s first carbon neutral nation by the year 2020
(Gregerson). Furthermore, he passed numerous bills and programs related to climate change. Not
only was Nasheed an advocate for his nation s climate, but he also wanted to make an impact on
the world, stating that, if we are unable to save countries like the Maldives, it may be too late to
save the rest of the world from the apocalyptic effects of self reinforcing, runaway global warming

The total DFPR production time for an order was determined to be 47.40 minutes, which
equated to a daily capacity of 10.13 orders (81 boards). Further analysis of DFPR production times
(as shown in Exhibit 6) revealed that production time increases at a decreasing rate as order size
increased. Additionally, daily DFPR capacity, as measured in number of boards, increases at an
increasing rate as the order size is increased (See Exhibit 7). This correlates to DFPR production
time per board being significantly reduced as the order size is increased.
Thus, it is easy to see why a bottleneck might sometimes occur in the DFPR area of there are
several small orders going through back to back. If viewed in the same manner as costs in
economics, the setup time in this operation can be viewed as a fixed cost incurred regardless of
production amount. The rum time can be viewed as variable costs that are incurred at an
incremental rate as production is increased. Thus, smaller orders have a higher percentage of their
production time represented by setup time (fixed) as opposed to run time (variable).
Question 4
A last useful analysis is to examine the standard labor times required for various order sizes.
Exhibit 8 displays the total standard labor times for order sizes of 1 board, 8 boards, and 200

The Total Cost Of Ownership
Total Cost of Ownership (TCO, or total ownership cost TOC), is a concept that is progressively
used in business worldwide. The principle of the concept is that the full costs of a conclusion
should be assessed, rather than concentrating on the original purchase price of software and
hardware, for instance. The Total Cost of Ownershipterm is somewhat new but the methodology is
comparable to concepts of life cycle costsand other valid economic principles for appropriately
evaluating business decisions. Total Costof Ownership is at times used to define the full costs of
one choice. In other occasions, Total Cost of Ownership is used to label the contrast of full costs of

Let us consider the present value, there are numerous ways to contemplate organizing or
categorizing the relevant costs.
Some analysts acclaim ascertaining direct costs such as things like: software and hardware
purchase price v. indirect costs such as: training and relocation costs. One could see it beneficial
to also contemplate about costs the initial costs equally obvious direct in addition to indirect costs.
Some of the reason this discrepancy is important is that a conclusion should not depend on the
nominal sum of the costs, but instead on the present value of the costs. A dollar now has more
value than a dollar one year from now; revenue today is more imperative revenue one year in the
future. The pertinent interest rate or discount rate is the businesses marginal cost of capital
conforming to a level of risk corresponding with the venture.
Consider a small business is planning on applying a new billing system. The key components of the
system will be: software, hardware, preliminary training, additional transition costs, successive
software upgrades, subsequent training, constant operations and maintenance. It has zero salvage.
The billing system is anticipated to last 3 years. The businesses investment company advises that
the forward thinking cost of principal is 15%. The calculations in the table assume initial purchase

Racial Barriers In Baseball
Introduction Over the first few decades after the breaking of the racial barrier in baseball by
Jackie Robinson the number of African American in professional baseball stayed on a rise,
unfortunately the numbers over the most recent decades have been going the opposite direction.
The color barrier was broken in Major League Baseball(MLB) by Robinson on April 15, 1947 when
he was called to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Robinson broke way for African Americans in
baseballand they took advantage of it as the number increased every year after. The purpose of
this study is to find out why the percentage of African Americans playing in the MLB has been
on a steady decline the past few decades. This percentage is dropping every year and there does
not seem to be much of a change in the future. While the numbers of African American
professionals are much higher in football and basketball and not at risk of dropping soon, what
is it that is making baseballs number slowly diminish. In this research I will examine numbers
that have been put together and analyze interviews that were performed with some professionals
as well as highly accredited sports journalist. Although I will focus on professional baseball I
will also provide some insight on youth baseball to see what the future may hold as far as the
possibility of another increase in the percentage of African Americans in the pros. As the years
gone on there has also been an increase in latin baseball players throughout professional baseball,
as well as a decrease in whites. Some questions regarding the topic are what is causing the decline
in the percentage? What initiative is being taken by Major League Baseball to help try to increase
the percentages? What is significant about baseball compared to other sports (football, basketball)
that makes them different and less attractive to African American youth?
Literature Review In all articles read all journalist mentions the same thing. One major contributor
to the decline in African Americans in baseball is because of the cost to be good. Most of the
highly talented players now come from travel ball and not your stand park rec. league. To compete
at the highly level of travel ball has the potential to be

Similarities And Differences Between Confucianism And...

Confucianism and Christianityare significant. Their teachings have aided to form the value systems

Christ s teaching tells us to treat others as we would like to be served. There are also similarities in
their lessons about humanity; Christianity holds family sacred, reveres the past and respects order.
Hence, it embraces the truth and goodness of Confucius doctrines. Rishmawy states that he has
learned a different way of viewing Jesus teachings with the help of Confucius (D. Rishmawy 2015).
Before he read Confucius, he had a mentality that loving your enemy involves treating them
precisely as you would entertain your friends. After going through it, he understood that this was
unwise in some situations that required one to protect themselves from such kind of people.
Consequently, through such incidences of both ideologies complementing each other, one can be
both a Confucian and a Christian at the same time. Despite the similarities between the two,
differences that may prevent one from being both a Christian and a Confucian exist. According to
Huang (2009), differences between them are seen in their ways of thinking. One of the apparent
striking differences is in their beliefs. Christians have faith in a single God who created everything
in the universe. God is considered to be distinct from human beings. God is purely spiritual, unlike a
human being who has a physical and spiritual segment. Nevertheless, Confucians have no particular
person as their god (Doyle and Chang, 2014). Confucius never

Igor Stravinsky, a Russian Composer
Igor Stravinsky is known as one of the most important and influential composers of the twentieth
century. Igor was born in Lomonosow, Russia on June 17, 1882 to Anna Kholodovsky and
Fyodor Stravinsky. When Stravinsky was only three he witnessed a musician at a Russian fair
singing, clicking his tongue, and making armpit noises. Igor was so excited to go try it at home.
This was one of Stravinsky s first memory of music. Igor s childhood was not a good memory for
him. He felt hated and neglected. Igor recalled that his schooldays no one had real attraction for
him and he was always lonely. The only thing that got him through it was music and his piano
lessons. In 1890, Igor heard his first orchestral performance The Sleeping Beauty. He was
awestruck at the grace of the piece. That performance fueled his interest in music even more.
When he was fifteen, he had mastered Mendelssohn s Piano Concerto in G minor. Stravinsky
also finished a piano reduction of a string quartet by Glazunov, who allegedly thought that Igor
was unmusical and considered him to have poor skills. His parents saw how much he loved
music but didn t want him to pursue it as a job. They enrolled him in the University of Saint
Petersburg in 1901. Stravinsky was told to become a lawyer. Vladimir Rimsky Korsakov, son of
composer Nikolai Rimsky Korakove, was a fellow student at Saint Petersburg. Igor s father died in

Eastern and Western Medicine Essay
Eastern and Western Medicine
The complex structure and foreign nature of Tibetan medicine makes it difficult to relate its
practices to Western medicine, making it difficult to determine the clinical efficacy of Eastern
medical practice. Several clinical analysis studies have recently been performed in order to
determine the efficacy of the holistic practices of Eastern cultures. Whether the studies show

Tibetan medicine practices the belief that methods must be practiced as equally as they are

difficulties in relating Eastern and Western principles. Some Westerners feel that all you need to
practice medicine in the East is a strong sense of compassion to help people, without having any
real knowledge of the medical practices: A few weekend courses and all the good intentions in
the world it would seem is all that is thought to be necessary. (Dummer p. 11). This, however, is
not the case at all. Eastern practitioners spend years learning medical procedures and techniques
before going into practice. They are also fully educated in the spiritual aspects of medicine as
well, as for religion plays a significant role in Eastern practices. Inadequate training may result in
improper care and detrimental diagnosis to those who may be seriously ill or suffering from
undiagnosed diseases.7
Eastern medicine also differs from Western practices in the way in which the human body is

It is a form of intelligence that is said to be derived from decadence through heredity.

Diet, the intake of a proper balanced diet containing a variety of different foods is necessary for
the physical development of an individual within a society. If an individual does not develop

Dinitrogen Research Paper
A catalytic route to ammonia from dinitrogen has been one of the most intensively researched areas
of chemistry in the last 50 years. Nitrogen gas constitutes 78% of Earth s atmosphere, and is easily
accessed through the fractional distillation of air. Despite this enormous potential for use as a
chemical feedstock to synthesize ammonia, the inert nature of elemental nitrogenmakes it
extremely difficult for most practical purposes. Currently, ammonia is synthesized via the Haber
Bosch process, which uses nitrogen, hydrogen, and an iron catalyst at an excess of 200 В°C and
300 atm. The enormous energy demands of this process consume approximately 2% of the world
s annual energy supply. Despite this high cost, the Haber Bosch process has been invaluable as a
chemical process over the last century because it has solely allowed the agricultural industry to
keep up with the rising food demand of the modern world by enabling the large scale production of
nitrogen based fertilizers. Still, a more efficient route to ammonia would remove a huge burden
from the worlds energy supply. Despite our struggles to efficiently reduce dinitrogen,... Show more

What Is The Objective Function Of Svtm
. Support Vector Machines: SVM is a state of the art machine learning algorithm which is used in
text analysis. They are universal learners. They exist is various forms linear and non linear. It
uses function called kernel. They are not dependent on the dimensionality of feature space.
Using an appropriate kernel, SVM can be used to learn polynomial classifiers, radial basic
function(RBF) [35]. The goal of SVM is to find the large margin hyperplane that divides two
classes. Equation of hyperplane is wT.x+b where class is yПµ{1, 1} depending on features space
is x. If the data is linearly separable, the optimal hyperplane maximizes the margin between the
positive and negative classes of the training dataset. This line splits the data into... Show more

There are several benefits of SVM High Dimension Input space Since the classifier does not
depend on number of features, SVM can handle high dimension space [35]. More importantly, in
sentiment analysis, many features are available. Document Vector Space Text categorization is
linearly separable [34]. Most document contain few non zero elements. SVM classifiers worked
the best in majority of papers. In this project, SVM classifier with linear kernel is used. 3.3.3
Rule Based: This technique was one of the first few methods used for text classification. Human
created logical rules are applied to categorize the text [39]. Most sentiment analysis use Machine
Learning techniques. Rule based method can detect sentiment polarity. The issue with Rule Based
methods is, it is difficult to update and the rules and the rules may not be able to cover every
scenario [37]. A rule consists of antecedent and its consequent. It has if else relation [40]. For
instance, Antecedent = consequent Antecedent defines the condition of the rule. It can be sequence
of tokens or just a token. Multiple tokens or rules are concatenated by the OR operator ^ . This
token could be word or proper noun. The target term represents terms within the context of the text
such as person, company name, brand name etc. Consequent is the sentiment which could be
positive, negative or neutral. It will be the result of the antecedent. The rule looks like: {happy} =
positive {angry} = negative VADER

Essay On Squash In Pakistan
Squash is the only Single player s Sports in which Pakistan has made its presence recognized at the
international level. Squash has made the country famous. For the better part of five decades,
Pakistan has completely dominated squash like no other place in the world. Between 1950 and
1997, Pakistan managed to win more than 30 British Open titles, 14 World Open titles, and many
PSA professional titles. During the supremacy of Jahangir Khanand Jansher Khan in the 80s and
90s, squash in Pakistanreached incredible heights of success, although they were hardly the first
players to excel in the game.
Hashim Khan, a former squash coach in the British Army, was the first Pakistani to dominate the
sport. When Pakistan gained independence, Hashim ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since 1998, however, after Jansher s defeat in the British Open final, the game of Squash in
Pakistan has fallen from its dizzying heights. Although Pakistanis still make up a considerable
percentage of players in both men s and women s games, but none of the Pakistani has qualified for
the final of either the British or World opendespite of the fact that Pakistan has a number of
coaching/training centers in major cities of the country. Pakistan has never won any athletic medal
in Olympics. Her athletes do not get chance to participate in World Athletic Cup competition due to
poor standard.
But Pakistan has been a force to be reckoned with in the Asian Games, the SAF Games and the
Commonwealth Games. Many Pakistani athletes won medals and even held records for many
years in these prestigious competitions. The fifties were the golden time of the Pakistani athletics
when Pakistan produced a number of very good athletes, who ruled the Asian athletic scene for
many years. Some of them created the Asian Games records. These records were broken after a lot
of struggle by the other Asian athletes. The one time Fastest man of Asia Abdul Khaliq was a

Torsion Garage Door Spring
Unlike extension springs which must work in pairs, the torsion garage door spring can be used
singly or in pairs. The short answer to whether you should use one or two torsion springs is that
two springs are your best bet. One exception is when you have a very light weight door such as a
single car garage doormade of aluminum. Here are three considerations when choosing between one
or two torsion springsfor your garage door.
Safety
This is the most important reason for using two springs. Since it isn t likely that two springs will
break at the same time, then the second spring serves as a backup should the other spring break.
This means the door won t slam shut as violently when one spring breaks. It may still come down
fast but it will

The Music Of The Song
A repetition of an upbeat piano piece, cheerful drum beats, and laughter from the audience, the
beginning of this song might lead you to believe this is a classic show tune. Nina Simone, the
songwriter and performer, certainly wants you to think this song is innocuous. She goes as far as
to describe this song as a show tune in the beginning of the lyrics. I believe, at Carnegie Hall back
in 1964, she focused on this aspect of the song to let the white audience s guard down just long
enough to surprise them with a powerful message.
The song s instrumental is purposely deceptive, it s lively and repetitive. There is one subtle but
significant change in the chords during the song. As she reveals in her lyrics and tone that this is

This grievous happening dramatically influenced Simone s views and music. She believed that
non violence was the correct way to fight prevalent racism. However, in her autobiography she
mentions how she attempted to make a home made pistol and kill somebody responsible after she
saw the incident on the news. The influence on her music was also significant. Before the bombing,
Simone concentrated her music career on folk and show tunes. However, enraged by the killings,
she wrote her first protest song, Mississippi Goddam. She wrote the song in an hour, which clearly
explains the raw rage, disappointment and disgust she displays in the lyrics (Cleary Simone, 1992).
Can t you see it? Can t you feel it? she asked to the white audience at Carnegie Hall, where the
song premiered. She expresses how she has lost faith in white America in the first verses, I don t
belong there. I ve even stopped believing in prayer. Her bluntness comes to a climax when she
sings, oh, but this whole country full of lies. You are all gonna die and die like flies. And then
Simone desperately pleads for the civil rights blacks have been denied for so long by saying, you
don t have to live next to me. Just give me my equality.
The audience and the nation was indubitably surprised by Simone s performance. Not only because

Absurdism In Albert Camus s The Myth Of Sisyphus
In his novel, The Stranger, Albert Camus frames his philosophy of the absurd through the lens of a
character facing impending death. In Camus mind, the absurd is born of [the] confrontation
between the human need and the unreasonable silence of the world (The Myth of Sisyphus,
Camus). Absurdism asserts that the world is complex and chaotic and that searching for meaning of
any kind is futile. This suggests that life itself is meaningless given the indifference of the universe
towards human existence. To understand absurdism, one must, as Camus does, reject all notions of
god and allow that the significance of human life is only understood through acceptance of human
mortality. This is reflected in the main character, Meursault, as the... Show more content on

Here, he specifically denies the existence of god and thus the ideas of right and wrong. It is
when he shoots one of the Arabs out of confused self defence that he is overcome with the feeling
of what s done is done . He has no regrets over his actions even though it means he will go to jail
and, ultimately, receive the death penalty. Throughout his trial, Meursault endlessly frustrates the
court with his nihilistic thinking. He spends the trial concerned with the meaninglessness of the
justice system and views any attempts to rationalize his actions as ridiculous. In turn, the
prosecutor casts Meursault as a threat to social convention suggesting that he is an abyss
threatening to swallow up society (63). When he eventually receives the death penalty, he
describes its certainty as being arrogant . Perhaps to end the charade of trial or as an expression
of hopelessness, Meursault denies his right to appeal. Soon after, he is visited in prison by the
chaplain and, for the second time, appears to consider the meaning of life but this time, in the light
of his impending death. He admits his fear to the chaplain, yet holds that he does not believe in
heaven. The chaplain, shocked, returns again and again in attempts to convert Meursault before it
is too late. Meursault continually refuses him stating that he [doesn t] want to waste on God (74)

Doe Fandom
Fandom is one of the defining concepts in the modern society. But what exactly makes it so
important? The answer is fairly simple. Fans. „It is fans who identify and build an audience
(Branston and Stafford, 2006). The people, who, out of their own free will participate and create
communities which are based around a certain artefact of their choosing. These communities then
proceed to debate and often create their own content, which is subordinate to their chosen text,
such as any fan work fanfiction and fan art or memes (Slade, Narro and Givens Carroll, 2015).
While any work created by fan originates from its source, many create their own endings,
surroundings and in some cases decide to rewrite the original with them as a main character or a
character with supporting role to the main protagonist, sometimes even adding themselves as a
romantic interest. Another way of expressing their feelings is a cosplay costumes created and
perfected to resemble their favourite characters. Although, cosplays are actually a combination of
the costume itself and role playing, so that the fan can resemble the character as similarly as
possible. They then proceed to be photographed and perform as said character. But while most of
these interactions happen outside, it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The story is important but so are cultural references. It must have a basis, be grounded in something
shared and commonly understood (Stasi in Slade, Narro and Givens Carroll, 2015:298). Now, there
are several ways how these fans articulate inside their chosen communities. A common way used to
be gatherings, or simple email corresponding. But in the last ten years the most prominent way was
certainly the online fandom gatherings. Slade, Narro and Givens Carroll states, that digital fandom
strengthen fans sense of belongingness due to the fact that online communities exhibit a deeper
connection (Slade, Narro and Givens Carroll,

The Chinese New Year Essay
Chinese New Year is the most widely celebrated tradition in Asia. The tradition is usually
celebrated on the first day of the first month on the Chinese Lunar calendar. This tradition is
rooted in centuries old customs and is one of the most popular public holidays in China. Apart
from China, this tradition is also celebrated in many Asian countries like Korea, Taiwan,
Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan. There are many values and rituals tied with this
tradition. For example, people would wear red clothing, decorate the house with red paper, and
give children lucky money in red envelopes. According to legend, it is said that red can drive
away bad luck, which is why the color red is highly emphasized. In myths, our ancestors would...

According a popular myth, the origin of this day lies in the fight against Nian, a beast in
Chinese mythology. The beast would visit cities and eat cattle, crops, and even people. In order
for families to protect themselves from the beast, they would place food at their doorsteps so
that the beast would not harm them. One day during a family dinner, the family noticed how the
beast was startled by seeing the color red. Word of this spread to other friends and family. Soon,
from then on, on the first day of every New Year, people would hang red paper lanterns and other
red objects to scare off the beast. They would also light bamboo stalks in order to scare the beast
away. After some time, the beast stop coming to the city all together. However, by this time
relatives and family had already adopted the habit of getting together to protect each other from the
beast.
Looking back at ancient civilization, fireworks, elaborate performances, or decorations had not
been invented or developed. These rituals that are associated with the tradition today were added
throughout the years. It was because of time that people started incorporating ideas that were added
on along with the festival. Therefore you were lucky and fortunate to spend Chinese New Yearwith

  • 2. Essay The Elizabethan Monarchy The Elizabethan Era was from 1533 (the birth of Queen Elizabeth 1) till 1603 (her death). Queen Elizabeth was the one who was responsible for what happened to the country during this era. For Queen Elizabeth, being part of the Elizabethan Royalty was a tough and challenging task. She played an important role within the religious conflicts for power between England and it s neighboring countries, had the constant pressure to produce a successor, and had to endure sexual discrimination for being a woman on the throne of England without a male counterpart. After King Henry 8th s death, there was a dispute over who should rule over England, Queen Elizabeth or Mary Queen of Scots. Who were both his daughters by different spouses. Queen... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These people were closely associated with Mary Queen of Scots for it included Mary s mother, Mary of Guise. At the time the Guises had bigger problems to worry about than the Elizabethan throne. This is when the Scottish Factor came into action. For Elizabeth s good fortune the Scottish Presbyterian Church had despised Catholicism and therefore gave Queen Elizabeth their support of her claim to the throne. With the support that Queen Elizabeth needed she was able to start planing a military intervention to Scotland which would end up in a war with France. An intervention is the interference by a country in another s affair. Elizabeth signed a treaty with Scottish rebels in which she agreed to have an open intervention if the Scottish Protestant lords would protect Elizabeth in the event that the French invaded. In March of 1560 war began and the months that followed France had threatened to ally with Spain if England refused to surrender. It wasn t until thousands had lost their lives did the religious war end with a treaty, the Treaty of Edinburgh. The treaty was signed July 6, 1560, confirming Queen Elizabeth s right to the throne. It was through this struggle that Queen Elizabeth was even able to get to claim her birth right. Her decisions did not only affect her country but also the neighboring countries. The importance of a successor during the Elizabethan Era was tremendous. When Queen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To weigh them, we had to make sure that we used the most accurate scales as possible as accuracy could be an issue. The spirit level should be calibrated so that we can rule out the issue of accuracy. Another problem we could have had in the practical was the method of filtering. The filter paper could have been too small so the filtrate could have gotten over the top of the funnel and then we would have had insoluble impurities. Also when doing this, we had to be careful that none of the filtrate ran down the beaker or we would have lost some yield. The filter paper could have been poor quality ... The country has cultivated an unhealthy culture. Since most healthy and natural ingredients are imported from other countries to the island, they are often more expensive. Fast food restaurants offer cheaper, more easily accessible alternatives. In addition, the traditional foods of the islands such as fresh fish, meat, and local fruits and vegetables have been replaced by rice, sugar, flour, canned meats, canned fruits and vegetables, soft drinks and beer. In addition, costs of healthier items were more expensive than less healthy items in American Samoa restaurants. Healthier entrГ©es and side items were more expensive than the less healthy entrГ©es and side items. There were also minimal efforts to promote healthy eating, such as providing calorie or other nutrition information, identifying healthy items with menu labeling on menus, and having menu notations that encourage healthy requests. Emergency Department Ratios Soleimanpour et. al (2011) explained that patient satisfaction is an essential component in the Emergency Department (ED) because it is the entrance for patients to receive their initial treatments. The most important and single possible cause for ED patients flow problem is the availability of inpatients beds (Peck et. al, 2012). The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) (2011) explained that the primary cause of ED overcrowding is boarding; which was defined as holding patients in the ED after the admission had been completed due to unavailability of inpatient beds. Lutheran Medical Center faced this problem and in his paper will discuss analysis of the problem, determination of possible quality lapses, identification of performance measures, designing and evaluation of the interventions and reporting of the results. The final estimated value of time include two types: the value of travel time to shopping places, physical stores as far as this study concerned, and the value of waiting time for the delivery of purchased products. Of course consumers concern toward e shopping is not only about time and cost. Some psychological aspects, such as information uncertainty and transaction security, have been playing an important role in dominating consumers e shopping behavior, and have been even more widely discussed in the literature. • 10. A White Heron Literary Analysis Countless stories of various heroes and heroines have all followed the same cycle from the beginning to the conclusion of a hero s life. The cycle begins from an event affecting the hero s life leading them on a quest that is typically filled with some form of adventure. The hero is equipped for the quest with a type of power or aid from the supernatural to support them against trials. Typically, the trials are used to prove a heros worth and even bring a change of behavior within the character. A difficult sacrifice is then made by the hero as they near the end of their journey, and will come to experience either physical or metaphorical death, to which they are rewarded significantly. The short literature titled A White Heron, written by Sarah Orne Jewett , fits the hero archetype by the main character experiencing a sudden adventure full of trials to the reward of the quest s completion. Within the story, A White Heron, the reader is first introduced to the young main character, Sylvia, whose everyday life is interrupted by an unexpected event. As Sylvia is leading her cow home through the forest, she hears an unusual whistle. Her curiosity leads her to meeting a seemingly lost, yet handsome man she had never seen before. Sylvia learns that the man is a hunter, and especially has a passion for hunting birds. The hunter claims he is specifically looking for a white heron and he is willing to give Sylvia and her grandmother 10 dollars if she finds its nest for him. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. How Does Elie Wiesel Use Dramatic Irony In Night The number of students in the Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools District could be multiplied by five hundred to reach the number of Jewish deaths during the Holocaust. This number would equal six million lives. Of these six million, one million were at the Auschwitz complex, where the family of Elie Wiesel was killed. Known as the world s largest graveyard, Auschwitz was the last place many Jewish people knew, including Elie s mother and sister, who were killed immediately upon arrival. Elie was only 15 when he was taken from his home in Sighet, Hungary to the concentration camp of Auschwitz Birkenau in 1944, but the persecution of the Jews began as early as 1933. Many have speculated why the victims of the Holocaustdid not see their fate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This situational irony is used to show how the blinding optimism and denial of the Jews contradicts what will actually happen to them. One source of situational irony shows how the expectations differed from reality when The families arrived in Auschwitz with their most treasured possessions packed into suitcases. On the outside of each case, the unsuspecting owners wrote their names and dates of birth, believing their things would be returned (Winfrey Wiesel). The fact that the Jews are being forced into cars meant for animals and taken to what would be most of their deaths is so different from what the Jewish people expected. The Jews believe they are being taken to eastern Europe, and this journey is just a small relocation, so they can live in safety until the war is over. They pack their finest possessions for their stay, when their belongings would actually be taken from them as soon as they get to the camps. This optimistic look on the deportation is responsible for the unpreparedness of the Jews. Their expectations differ from their new reality, and they are unsure of what they can do to help themselves once they get there. Situational irony is also shown in Night as the Jews attempt to pack for the camp with food, and Elie describes, The women were cooking eggs, roasting meat, baking cakes, and making knapsacks (Wiesel 25). Shopping can be a method of therapy for those who need to lift their spirits; however, with low self control it can become an impulse shopping addiction Impulse shopping is the act of purchasing goods without prior planning as a result of sudden desire. It can be an addictionbecause hedonic products bought impulsively induce an exciting rush, which turns into a cycle to recreate the pleasure. Of course, not all people become impulse shoppers, there are different types of shoppers, with varying emotions, psychological conditions and genders. • 16. How Did The Black Death Affect Europe The condition that Europe was in before the Black Death struck was ultimately one of the main reasons for the disease s quick spreading. One bad condition that helped to make the Black Death even more deadly was the population boom of Europe in the Thirteenth and Fourteenth Centuries (Kagan et al. 292). Another pre existing condition that hurt the health of Europe was the multiple famines that would come to be known at the Great Famine (Kagan et al. 292). This depression can be attributed to many different things, one being the Great Famine. The Great Famine helped to cause the depression because of the crop failures that it created. Farmers could not produce enough crops to support themselves or trade in the market, and the economy suffered as a result. In addition, the changes made to the economic system by Philip IV would later hurt Europe substantially (Rothbard). One of these changes includes when Philip started the system of taxation in France, issuing a strong sales tax on Champagne (Rothbard). He began to really take control of France, virtually taking over the Catholic Church and the papacy. Blinded by power, Philip IV early in the Fourteenth Century began to attack England (Rothbard). The Hundred Years War was almost fully commenced by Philip IV and the effect that this brutal war would have on France, England and Europe was palpable (Rothbard). Because of the war, the initial taxes that Philip IV put in place were raised, and several other new types of taxes such as ad valorem were issued as well (Rothbard). The high taxes that were put in place caused an inflation in France s currency, and the cost of the war was quite high as well. The Hundred Years War severely hurt both the English and French economies in numerous ways, and caused an economic depression that further weakened Europe before the Black Death would even begin. Foster. It is not yet explained until the ninth chapter titled Its More Than Just Rain or Snow . He begins with a very common line among stories; It was a dark and stormy night. This ensures the same response from all readers. Rain can be used to add dramatic effects to a scene which is why we all have the same negative reaction to the phrase. The main idea Foster is trying to explain is that rain never means rain. We sense that rain is always to be associated with negative feelings and or outcomes. So far we have been blessed with both rain and snow having negative and positive reflections on the scene. That is not the case with this one. Fog is used to express uncertainty. The thicker the fog the less you can see literally but in a figurative way an author can use it to show a tough decision needing to be made by a character or an undetermined future or path. It can spark fear in the eyes of those surrounded by it. We, being human, re scared of the unknown. Fog is the perfect way to display this lack of knowledge through the use of weather. It blocks the light. We know that all things bad lie within darkness but the problem is that we do not know what specifically is within it. This gives the author a chance to direct the story in a new direction. It is an escape route in a way. Authors can use fog to divert the characters in a different direction which results in an overall change of the plot. There s more to weather than just cloudy days. • 21. Volkswagen Business Ethics Essay Abstract In this paper, we will look at the business ethics controversy that was caused by Volkswagen and the company had to pay up to $15 billion dollars to settle a civil court case. The controversy was caused when it was found out that Volkswagen had installed a device in their diesel engine cars. This device reduced pollution caused by the engine when it was being tested for emissions. This resulted in cheating the authorities and promoting Volkswagenas an environmentally friendly car when it was not actually one. It had these devices installed on most of its car models. The company initially had an increase in sales but then was eventually caught and had to pay a large sum of money as mentioned above to settle a lawsuit. Additionally, daily DFPR capacity, as measured in number of boards, increases at an increasing rate as the order size is increased (See Exhibit 7). Racial Barriers In Baseball Introduction Over the first few decades after the breaking of the racial barrier in baseball by Jackie Robinson the number of African American in professional baseball stayed on a rise, unfortunately the numbers over the most recent decades have been going the opposite direction. The color barrier was broken in Major League Baseball(MLB) by Robinson on April 15, 1947 when he was called to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Robinson broke way for African Americans in baseballand they took advantage of it as the number increased every year after. The purpose of this study is to find out why the percentage of African Americans playing in the MLB has been on a steady decline the past few decades. This percentage is dropping every year and there does not seem to be much of a change in the future. While the numbers of African American professionals are much higher in football and basketball and not at risk of dropping soon, what is it that is making baseballs number slowly diminish. In this research I will examine numbers that have been put together and analyze interviews that were performed with some professionals as well as highly accredited sports journalist. Although I will focus on professional baseball I will also provide some insight on youth baseball to see what the future may hold as far as the possibility of another increase in the percentage of African Americans in the pros. This can easily brought about by many factors such as how the questions on the actual test are formulated; this creates distorted results. The factor of Stress in an examination greatly changes the reflection of ability when a student takes an exam as the stress can cause the student to not answer questions in the way he/she usually would usually do. This skews the data and makes it less representative of the students overall ability.Examinations rely on memorization not skills and knowledge of a subject. This is easily seen in exams revolving around manual skills such as written practical examinations where a student might know what to do in real life but does not know how to express himself/herself on ... • 40. Dinitrogen Research Paper A catalytic route to ammonia from dinitrogen has been one of the most intensively researched areas of chemistry in the last 50 years. Nitrogen gas constitutes 78% of Earth s atmosphere, and is easily accessed through the fractional distillation of air. Despite this enormous potential for use as a chemical feedstock to synthesize ammonia, the inert nature of elemental nitrogenmakes it extremely difficult for most practical purposes. Currently, ammonia is synthesized via the Haber Bosch process, which uses nitrogen, hydrogen, and an iron catalyst at an excess of 200 В°C and 300 atm. The enormous energy demands of this process consume approximately 2% of the world s annual energy supply. Despite this high cost, the Haber Bosch process has been invaluable as a chemical process over the last century because it has solely allowed the agricultural industry to keep up with the rising food demand of the modern world by enabling the large scale production of nitrogen based fertilizers. Still, a more efficient route to ammonia would remove a huge burden from the worlds energy supply. Despite our struggles to efficiently reduce dinitrogen,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This mechanism became recognized as the Chatt cycle, and it offered the most reasonable mechanism of biological reduction of dinitrogen under mild conditions, as well as the most promising route to a synthetic route to ammonia. Nearly every one of these intermediates was isolated and characterized11, but decades of experimental efforts to develop a catalytic pathway were almost universally unsuccessful, and the field began to grow stale. While ammonia was observed to be formed catalytically once in the literature, it suffered from a hydrazine selectivity of 10:1, and the exact pathway could never be ... • 42. What Is The Objective Function Of Svtm . Support Vector Machines: SVM is a state of the art machine learning algorithm which is used in text analysis. They are universal learners. They exist is various forms linear and non linear. It uses function called kernel. They are not dependent on the dimensionality of feature space. Using an appropriate kernel, SVM can be used to learn polynomial classifiers, radial basic function(RBF) [35]. The goal of SVM is to find the large margin hyperplane that divides two classes. Equation of hyperplane is wT.x+b where class is yПµ{1, 1} depending on features space is x. If the data is linearly separable, the optimal hyperplane maximizes the margin between the positive and negative classes of the training dataset. This line splits the data into... There are several benefits of SVM High Dimension Input space Since the classifier does not depend on number of features, SVM can handle high dimension space [35]. More importantly, in sentiment analysis, many features are available. Document Vector Space Text categorization is linearly separable [34]. Most document contain few non zero elements. SVM classifiers worked the best in majority of papers. In this project, SVM classifier with linear kernel is used. 3.3.3 Rule Based: This technique was one of the first few methods used for text classification. Human created logical rules are applied to categorize the text [39]. Most sentiment analysis use Machine Learning techniques. Rule based method can detect sentiment polarity. The issue with Rule Based methods is, it is difficult to update and the rules and the rules may not be able to cover every scenario [37]. A rule consists of antecedent and its consequent. It has if else relation [40]. For instance, Antecedent = consequent Antecedent defines the condition of the rule. It can be sequence of tokens or just a token. Multiple tokens or rules are concatenated by the OR operator ^ . This token could be word or proper noun. The target term represents terms within the context of the text such as person, company name, brand name etc. Consequent is the sentiment which could be positive, negative or neutral. It will be the result of the antecedent. The rule looks like: {happy} = positive {angry} = negative VADER ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The short answer to whether you should use one or two torsion springs is that two springs are your best bet. One exception is when you have a very light weight door such as a single car garage doormade of aluminum. Here are three considerations when choosing between one or two torsion springsfor your garage door. Safety This is the most important reason for using two springs. Since it isn t likely that two springs will break at the same time, then the second spring serves as a backup should the other spring break. • 45. The Music Of The Song A repetition of an upbeat piano piece, cheerful drum beats, and laughter from the audience, the beginning of this song might lead you to believe this is a classic show tune. Nina Simone, the songwriter and performer, certainly wants you to think this song is innocuous. She goes as far as to describe this song as a show tune in the beginning of the lyrics. I believe, at Carnegie Hall back in 1964, she focused on this aspect of the song to let the white audience s guard down just long enough to surprise them with a powerful message. The song s instrumental is purposely deceptive, it s lively and repetitive. There is one subtle but significant change in the chords during the song. As she reveals in her lyrics and tone that this is not meant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This grievous happening dramatically influenced Simone s views and music. She believed that non violence was the correct way to fight prevalent racism. However, in her autobiography she mentions how she attempted to make a home made pistol and kill somebody responsible after she saw the incident on the news. The influence on her music was also significant. Before the bombing, Simone concentrated her music career on folk and show tunes. However, enraged by the killings, she wrote her first protest song, Mississippi Goddam. She wrote the song in an hour, which clearly explains the raw rage, disappointment and disgust she displays in the lyrics (Cleary Simone, 1992). Can t you see it? Can t you feel it? she asked to the white audience at Carnegie Hall, where the song premiered. She expresses how she has lost faith in white America in the first verses, I don t belong there. I ve even stopped believing in prayer. Her bluntness comes to a climax when she sings, oh, but this whole country full of lies. You are all gonna die and die like flies. And then Simone desperately pleads for the civil rights blacks have been denied for so long by saying, you don t have to live next to me. Just give me my equality. The audience and the nation was indubitably surprised by Simone s performance. Not only because of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Absurdism In Albert Camus s The Myth Of Sisyphus In his novel, The Stranger, Albert Camus frames his philosophy of the absurd through the lens of a character facing impending death. In Camus mind, the absurd is born of [the] confrontation between the human need and the unreasonable silence of the world (The Myth of Sisyphus, Camus). Absurdism asserts that the world is complex and chaotic and that searching for meaning of any kind is futile. This suggests that life itself is meaningless given the indifference of the universe towards human existence. To understand absurdism, one must, as Camus does, reject all notions of god and allow that the significance of human life is only understood through acceptance of human mortality. This is reflected in the main character, Meursault, as the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Here, he specifically denies the existence of god and thus the ideas of right and wrong. It is when he shoots one of the Arabs out of confused self defence that he is overcome with the feeling of what s done is done . He has no regrets over his actions even though it means he will go to jail and, ultimately, receive the death penalty. Throughout his trial, Meursault endlessly frustrates the court with his nihilistic thinking. He spends the trial concerned with the meaninglessness of the justice system and views any attempts to rationalize his actions as ridiculous. In turn, the prosecutor casts Meursault as a threat to social convention suggesting that he is an abyss threatening to swallow up society (63). When he eventually receives the death penalty, he describes its certainty as being arrogant . Perhaps to end the charade of trial or as an expression of hopelessness, Meursault denies his right to appeal. Soon after, he is visited in prison by the chaplain and, for the second time, appears to consider the meaning of life but this time, in the light of his impending death. He admits his fear to the chaplain, yet holds that he does not believe in heaven. The chaplain, shocked, returns again and again in attempts to convert Meursault before it is too late. • 47. Doe Fandom Fandom is one of the defining concepts in the modern society. But what exactly makes it so important? The answer is fairly simple. Fans. „It is fans who identify and build an audience (Branston and Stafford, 2006). The people, who, out of their own free will participate and create communities which are based around a certain artefact of their choosing. These communities then proceed to debate and often create their own content, which is subordinate to their chosen text, such as any fan work fanfiction and fan art or memes (Slade, Narro and Givens Carroll, 2015). While any work created by fan originates from its source, many create their own endings, surroundings and in some cases decide to rewrite the original with them as a main character or a character with supporting role to the main protagonist, sometimes even adding themselves as a romantic interest. Another way of expressing their feelings is a cosplay costumes created and perfected to resemble their favourite characters. Although, cosplays are actually a combination of the costume itself and role playing, so that the fan can resemble the character as similarly as possible. They then proceed to be photographed and perform as said character. But while most of these interactions happen outside, it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The tradition is usually celebrated on the first day of the first month on the Chinese Lunar calendar. This tradition is rooted in centuries old customs and is one of the most popular public holidays in China. Apart from China, this tradition is also celebrated in many Asian countries like Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan. There are many values and rituals tied with this tradition. One day during a family dinner, the family noticed how the beast was startled by seeing the color red. Word of this spread to other friends and family. They would also light bamboo stalks in order to scare the beast away. After some time, the beast stop coming to the city all together. However, by this time relatives and family had already adopted the habit of getting together to protect each other from the beast.
