A Minor Disorder That Some Women Can Experience While...
This assignment is to research and review a minor disorder that some women can experience while
being pregnant. By understanding facts and demonstrating the physiological changes and adaptions
that occur in relation to pregnancy can create empathetic midwives. Focusing on education and
support through woman centered care and displaying primary health practices in a professional
setting.
Nausea and vomiting in pregnancy (NVP) is common in the first trimester of pregnancy, it can be an
unbearable condition that affects several women. By the end of the first trimester 60% of cases
resolve, with 91% settling by 20 weeks of gestation. (Herrell, H. E.2014). Hyperemesis gravidarum is

Both men and women can feel anxiety of parenthood and when woman are having symptoms of NVP
this can result in absent work time, incomplete daily routines, managing to see friends or family and
caring for other children in the home. Pregnant women can be left feeling exhausted and unhappy, this
can then have some negative effects on family relationships, and some couples connections can feel
strained. If the woman is working she may also need to tell her employer about the pregnancy, this
may possibly be earlier then the women would have liked too. Generally this can be hard for some
women. Asking for help is also difficult as a result of this women can become stressed, which can lead
to sleep deprivation. Nausea can become worse if women are not getting adequate time for rest. Whilst
women feel unwell they may experience some weight loss, this is not uncommon especially if women
can not keep any food or fluids down. Weight gain will increase once the women can eat normally
again, if women feel unsettled about weight loss they can talk to a dietitian who may suggest specific
supplements.
It is unknown what the exact underlying pathophysiology of NVP is but it s believed to be
multifactorial and includes endocrine, gastrointestinal, cultural, psychosocial and environmental
factors. Reduced gastric esophageal pressure and delayed gastric emptying due to the effects of the
hormone progesterone (Jarvis S,

Mexicans, Chicanos, Mexican Americans
Mexicans, Chicanos, Mexican Americans, Indigenous, and more are just a few of the terms used to
refer to people of Mexican descent. Many Hispanics attempt to enter the United States in search of a
better life and to have an enjoyable way of life. However, living in constant fear of being deported and
consistently being judged simply because of one s color, or the inability to communicate in English;
that does not sound like the American dream. Typically, people have real reasons to emigrate to the
United States, and it is in great part due to necessity. Most people have families they leave behind
because they need money in order to survive and have food on the table every day, they see the United
States as the solution to their problem. On another note, the 1960 s movements emerged during the
Civil Rights era, in order to earn justice and rights for Mexican Americans in the United States. After
years of being ignored, Mexicans decided to take a stand through the help of activists, hoping to attain
victories for the Chicano community. Overall, after constant oppression, Chicanos fought back all the
harsh treatment through the Chicano Movement arguing for a broad section of issues; however,
nowadays many racial problems continue to exist, such as SB 1070 and HB 2281, which were
polemical bills classified as racial attacks; they were directly aimed towards Mexicans. The Chicano
Movement arose during the Civil Rights era; it was a cultural and political movement, in order to

Essay on The Redemption of King Lear
The Redemption of King Lear?
Shakespeare s play, King Lear is quite renowned and the folly of the ancient King is a
great example of how not to handle family relationships. The question has been proposed
if King Lear is redeemed when reunited with Cordelia. King Lear does achieve a kind of
redemption when he is reunited with Cordelia in Acts IV and V of the tragedy. What kind
of redemption he achieves is open to interpretation. In order to understand the King s
redemption, it must be determined what the King is redeemed from. Once this sin is
established, an analysis can be made as to when the King is redeemed, and how. ... Show more content

The Stanford Prison Experiment And Jonestown
Follow the Leader Human beings perform actions that are often deemed illogical or detrimental. The
activities are regularly enforced, encouraged, and compounded by others. The actions can be related to
categories such as authority pressure, peer pressure, and situational pressure. In looking at articles like
The Stanford Prison Experiment and Jonestown , the categories above can be confirmed. The articles
show how people conform to the circumstances that surround them and provide little or no objection
to the situation. The use of a tobacco product is a prime example of a detrimental action that people
participate in due to the pressures placed on them or innuendos that are implied through authority,
peers, or situations. Authoritative pressure could be defined as a type of coercion that is imposed by an
individual in a supervisory or authoritarian role within a workplace or industry. Similar to the
experiment that Mills discusses Stanley Milgram, PhD conducting in More shocking results: New
research replicates Milgram s findings , supervisors replace teachers and new employees replicate
students. In my experience, a large portion of men employed on construction sites participate in the
use of some form of tobacco, most notably, chewing tobacco. Construction workers often begin their
initial employment in the industry as general laborers or construction helpers. The general progression
for advancement leads each employee to a more specialized and skilled position,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Air Transport
Using the right type of transport is very important in the supply chain. As we have learnt earlier the
use of the transport mode is of strategic importance to stock holding decisions. Air transport is much
quicker but the costs are high as opposed to shipping by boat or rail. Sea or rail transport requires
having higher levels of inventory in house to meet quick customer demands. Most importantly,
customer service levels must be met, and this often determines the mode of transport used.
The options for consideration include: rail, road, water (sea and river) or air transport.
Rail
Railway offers the logistics manager cost effective, energy efficient mode of transport for large
quantities of goods over long distances. Though often associated with the movement of low value/
high volume cargo like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Air
Air transport is often viewed as a premium, emergency type service that is used when all else fails.
The most expensive of all the modes of transport, airfreight offers the logistics manager fast, on time
service, but at a relatively high price. However, for firms supporting global markets, air may in fact be
the most cost effective mode of transport when inventory and customer service issues are considered.
Air transportation is best suited to moving relatively small high value / low volume items long
distances, although things as diverse as livestock and automobiles routinely move by air as well. The
best example of air transport is jewellery, watches, diamonds, gold and gemstones. Like trucking, air
transport industry is made up of many small companies dominated by a few large airlines.
Transportation of goods by air is regulated by appropriate rules. Commodities are shipped in
appropriate air containers. There is also a set of special equipment

Sense And Sensibility In The Novel By Jane Austen
Sense and Sensibility written by Jane Austen is a novel that does not only deal with two sister s love
matters, but how two dissimilar personalities respond to society and love. The theme of society vs.
sense is existed throughout the novel because it is concerned with the ruling of one s feelings, or the
incapability to do so. Declaring love for someone, nurturing one s self and not caring what people
think is important in expressing this kind of social duty. (Pam Morris, 43) This kind of theme is
always present, with some dramatization, within Emma Thompson s 1995 film adaption. Literary
critic Deborah Kaplan argues that Thompson s film adaption demonstrates harlequinization , where
the narrative structure of the mass market structure , where a lot of people really like them, it focuses
on a hero and a heroin s courtship at the expense of the other characters and experiences. Kaplan is
stating that the film is negative because some characters are underrepresented. She s right, but at the
same time it is to be expected because it is a film adaption. I argue that Kaplan is right, the film
adaption does demonstrate this harlequinization to the point where it ignores all the important scenes
within the novel such as how the Dashwood sisters are represented, Marianne s rescuers Willoughby
and Colonel Brandon in contrast to the novel. With all of Jane Austen s novels, Sense and Sensibility
gives the readers an insight of the personal lives of nineteenth century women, Marianne and Elinor
Dashwood are the examples of heroines, sisters with dissimilar personalities. Marriage is a way to
alter wealth for women, it is always a central theme within Austen s novels. In the novel, the
Dashwood women are left poor because the fortunes of their father was inherited by their brother. The
women leave their home and move to a home in Devonshire which belongs to John Middleton, who is
Mrs. Dashwood s cousin. This is what introduces possible suitors for the two eldest Dashwood sisters,
Marianne and Elinor. Edward Ferrars and Elinor fall in love and Marianne falls for John Willoughby.
In the film, the Dashwood sisters seen as so poor after their father passed away. For example, in one
scene, the Dashwood women cannot

Assess The Difference Between Post-Humanism And...
In my theme, there is including the concept of Post humanism and Trans humanism. There are some
difference between Post humanism and Trans humanism. Post human is the specie that no longer as a
human being which means it is beyond human such as alien. Nick Bostrum mention that Post human
would no longer be a human being, having been so significantly altered as to no longer represent the
human species. (Roden, 2015, p. 9) Underlying this worldview is a core belief that the human species
in its current form does not represent the end of our development, but rather its beginning. (Roden,
2015, p. 10). On the other word, it mean the humanism would come to an end and the new specie will
replace human and dominate the world. I may cause by the evolution ... Show more content on

We can see that, human will evolve according to their environment. However, under the big change of
the environment and the criminal affect, human body may have a great change due to the gene
mutation. Trans human is to strengthen or enhance their mental and physical by a scientific way. Nick
Bostrum defined trans humanism as the intellectual and cultural movement that affirms the possibility
and desirability of fundamentally improving the human condition through applied reason, especially
by using technology to eliminate aging and greatly enhance human intellectual, physical, and
psychological capacities. (Cole Turner, 2011, p. 11) On the other side, under the great change of the
environment, we may find different man made system to help us keep survive. We may have an
artificial life in the future. Steve and Veronika said that (Fuller Lipinska, 2014, p. 64) Transhumanism

The Dj Essay
The Dj Essay, Research Paper
The DJ
About fifteen years ago a culture was born. In Europe a new type of music was being created.
Something new, something fresh. A music fueled by throbbing beats over rattling bass. This is
electronic music. The mastermind behind this whole up and coming culture was and is the DJ. In the
past five years have become more and more popular everyday. Some people who are not aware of this
music or this culture might argue that being a DJ is not a serious profession for various reasons.
Throughout this paper I will prove these notions false. As support I will provide the history of the DJ,
what exactly it is, insight from various DJ s and much more.
It all began about fifteen years ago. In towns in Europe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rock music absorbed House and Techno, and DJ s and electronicists began to tour and act like rock
stars. As one century tipped into another, dance music was still a primary source of interest and
creativity as Trance, a futuristic blend of technology and House and Techno, became a chart topping,
globe girdling sensation ( Prendergast pg 367). Another great more specific example of this is Paul
Oakenfold as written in Last night a DJ saved my life, When Paul Oakenfold plays records in a club,
every person on the dance floor will be facing him. Just like they d face a rock band on a stage. There
s not much to see: a baseball cap maybe, a studious face leaning into a pair of headphones, some
minimal arm movements as he slides in another flawless mix. Occasionally he might throw his hands
up in excitement, smile out in response to a particularly grand track, or share a wink with some
energetic fan, and when he does, there ll be a sea of hands aloft, a breakout of waving and grinning, an
ocean of smiling dancers mirroring his every gesture. For he is a superstar ( Brewster pg 384). Along
with these tours came annual festivals. Huge festivals every year with sometimes over a hundred
thousand people in attendance. Some of these are Love Parade and Gatecrasher(
www.loveparade.com) ( www.gatecrasher.com). Just like any music industry this one soon started
having conventions. The biggest one is the Winter Music Conference(

Unless you live under a rock, I am sure you are aware of President Donald Trump s ongoing feud with
the media. It always seems as if Mr. Trump is to blame for everything... but can you really blame him
for not wanting the media around when all they do is give him bad press? During the election and
even after he won the election the media will just not give him a break. There is always something he
has done wrong or something he said that offends someone, well guess what you are going to be
offended your whole life, and not just by Donald Trump. Are you going to write a news article or

Trump is an angel but neither is anyone else. He has said things that are a little out there but people
blow them way out of proportion. Like that time that Jewish guy said he was going to ask a simple
question. His question took about three minutes to explain and that was before Mr. Trump interrupted
him. The guy was bringing up important issues but, like always, he was basically blaming Mr. Trump
for every issue. Saying there have been 48 bomb threats at synagogues across the United States . Now
that may be true, and it is an issue, but how is that Mr. Trumps fault? Mr. Trump had to go and defend
himself like any person would and he said Number one, I am the least anti semitic person that you
have ever seen. That is the line everyone is freaking out about. The reason everyone is freaking out
over that comment is because they think he has been very rude to Jewish people but the people
freaking out about this probably could not give you one rude comment he has said about Jewish
people. To see for myself I was doing a little research to see if he has every said anything about Jewish
people because if he has you know it would be out there because anytime the media can make Mr.
Trump look bad they jump of that chance. Now I found comments regarding Jewish people but
nothing offense. Isn t it crazy that if one person says something to someone you don t like you will

Abstract In this paper we propose a methodology based on data mining andself evaluation in order to
predict whether an instructor will or will not accept the students proposed marks in a course. This is an
on going work in which we have evaluated the usage of classification techniques and cost sensitive
corrections. We have carried out several experiments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
II. METHODOLOGY
The methodology that we have used in this study is as follows.During the course, students are
evaluated by means of a multiple choice testing that is an effective assessment technique. Before the
final exam date, all students are requested to self grade. Students propose the mark/grade that they
think they should get for the course. Then, the instructor accepts or declines the proposed mark of
each student as the final mark for the course. This way, only students whose score was declined by the
instructor will have to sit the final exam. Finally, we try to predict the instructor s decision of
accepting or declining the score proposed by students.
We have used two different (initial and new) data mining approaches (see Figure 1).
Figure 1. Approaches for predicting instructor s decision.
The initial approach uses three numerical variables: the scoreobtained by students in the course s
activities, the proposed scores by students and the difference between these two previous scores.
Then, it applies traditional classification algorithms for predicting the instructor s decision about
whether to accept the proposed students scores (YES) or not (NO). The new approach uses the three
previous variables as well as a self evaluation questionnaire as another source of information. Then, it
applies cost sensitive classification [2] that is normally used for obtaining

Stereotypes Of Dracula In Bram Stoker s Dracula
Bleh Bleh Bleh What does the notorious bloodsucking Dracula have in common with the attractive
vampires that are shown in the movie Twilight? A lot actually, not only do they share the same name
of Vampire or Undead , they also share the same powers and needs. The vampire genre has gone a
long way, specifically with books like Bram Stoker s Dracula. It first started out as folklore and then it
turned into a popular topic of writing in early European culture. Bram Stoker then combined what he
could into one classic vampire that is widely known today. Even in today s modern generation, Bram
Stoker s widely known character Dracula continues to be used as the classic vampire that is an
example of a basis for the undead . In Bram Stoker s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Clarson makes a point of talking about the fangs being sharp, proving that it is a way to identify a
vampire such as the Count. This continues to persist throughout the genre, a vampire has the need for
blood so it turns to a victim and takes advantage of them, while also turning the victim into a vampire
as well. This shows that Bram Stoker has successfully created a stereotype of fangs that are used to
feed off the blood of victims that continues through this genre. There is something about burning red
eyes of a blood hungry undead that just manages to stick with the whole vampire stereotypes. Despite
not knowing that it was dracula, Jonathan Harker had met up with Dracula and had taken a lot of
acknowledgement to the dark fire like eyes of the Count. Jonathan describes the scene of him meeting
the count for the first time, I could only see the gleam of a pair of very bright eyes, which seemed red
in the lamplight, as he turned to us (Stoker 10). This proves that the eyes are a first expression that
comes to Harkers mind when he first sees the Count. The stereotype of vampires having red eyes is
probably one of the most known stereotypes when it comes to the undead and the vampire genre. The
burning red eyes show a sense of character in the vampires, giving them an evil quality that strikes
fear into those who look into them. Another

Life Changing Experience In Life
For many, a life changing moment comes in the form of a tragedy or a hard earned revelation. Mine
came in the form of a five year old girl named Sofia. Sofia spent most of her time in the oncology
ward of the hospital where I volunteered. Her days consisted of sterile hospital rooms, scans, and
chemotherapy. She was losing her hair because of chemo when most girls her age were learning how
to braid theirs. She played with a doll (Mr. Buttons) in her hospital room instead of playing with other
children. Sofia wasn t lonely in the traditional sense. Family, friends, and even strangers visited the
little girl, but could barely interact with her. Most of the time, she was too tired to play and, when she
finally mustered the energy, she found herself behind a glass panel. The doctors thought it best to keep
Sofia isolated, to minimize her chances of falling ill in her already feeble condition. And, indeed, this
is how I interacted with Sofia for a month. Week after week, hour after hour, I d go to the glass wall to
see if she had awoken and would spend an hour that felt like seconds, playing with her. I suppose that
s relativity for you. Sofia was both the highlight and heartbreak of my week. Comments like, Poor
thing and It s just not fair were heard as often as the incessant beeping of the monitors. Talk is cheap,
and pity doesn t make progress. I had to do something. It is very rare to come across an opportunity to
make a fundamental change in the lives of thousands. I

Essay on Ernest Rutherford and The Gold Foil Experiment
Ernest Rutherford was a New Zealand born British physicist who is famously known for splitting the
atom. His work on the gold foil experiment contributed greatly to the model of the atom and helped
develop the standard model of the atom to what we now use today. Without his contributions we
would still be using the Plum Pudding model, an out dated and incorrect model, and we would have
less of an understanding of how atoms form the world around us.
Before Rutherford s Geiger Marsden experiment the most popular model of the atom was the plum
pudding model developed in 1904 by the person who also discovered the electron in 1897, J.J.
Thompson. It was the most common model of the atom and stated that electrons (plum) floated around

He positioned a variety of metal foil in the route of the alpha rays, including gold, silver, tin, copper
and aluminium (at different times) to observe whether the flashes of light moved, spread out, or
changed at all. He found that as the various metals disrupted the paths of the rays the flashes become
more spread out. This result indicated that alpha particles were being deflected as they passed through
the metals. Rutherford wanted to know if alpha particles could be deflected at a larger angle, as the
current tool developed by Geiger could only measure deflection of up to a few angles.
Geiger was joined by Ernest Marsden to create a new instrument to detect whether alpha particles
could be deflected at greater angles. This device was different from the previous in the way that the
gold foil and radium were both inside a metal cylinder, which was fixed to a swivel. The microscope
attached penetrated the wall of the cylinder. The lens of the microscope was covered in a zinc sulphide
screen and the microscope could be moved in a full circle around the foil so Geiger could tally the
flashes of light from every possible angle. He observed alpha particles deflecting by as much as 150°.
The results of this experiment proved the plum pudding model of the atom to be incorrect as some of
the alpha particles (helium atoms) deflected meaning the atom has a dense centre of positive charge.
Particles either hit the positive

The Cafe Of The Store
The café in the center of the store is actually a little Starbucks coffee shop, but due to the food that
they service it is more of a café than anything else. The food is not really a wide selection, but it is
enough that anyone is, required to play host, and in which all feel at home and comfortable.
(Oldenburg, page 22) With the decent food and Starbucks, anyone that has an order does not need to
remain at the tables to finish it. You can still be able to browse the shelves and read anything that you
desire. Which is why many families come to the store with their children in tow.
Most people can arrive at this location with no worries and may come and go whenever they please,
with no worries about arriving too late. For the bookstore has very long hours of operation, but the
store is not accessible in its off hours as Oldenburg states on page 32. Yet B N has a sort of an
interesting circumstance. For on a weekly basis B N is open from 9am to 10pm and during the
weekends the building doesn t close until 11pm. All in all people, it is easy to understand why so
many families come to B N instead of a library.
For most libraries do have a children s section, but you still have to be quiet, even if it is story time. As

birth control Implanon was the best birth control for me only because it is convenient, mess free, and
it last for up to three years. People around the world have used birth control methods for thousands of
years. These methods include things such as condoms, pills, shots, and many other things that have
advanced though out the years. Today, the world has many safe and effective birth control methods
available to us, however all birth controls do not work the same for everyone. Birth control which is
also formally known as contraception or fertility control are methods or devices used to prevent
pregnancy. Birth control methods have been used for many years dating back all the way to ancient
times. In fact Egypt has some of the earliest documented birth controls. For example the women there
would use honey, acacia leafs and also lent to stuff up their vaginas to block the male sperm from

only agrees with natural family planning however there are a number of Catholics whom accept and
agree with modern birth control methods. Also according to allaboutbirthcontrol.com Muhammad,

These can also help determine criminal activity made by their drivers. Most of these situations can
also help people stay safe. Most people could also program personalities into the car. Most times a

could be programmed to help check the destination and routes to the location to determine if they are

The Swot Analysis And Summaries Of The SWOT Analysis
Section 2: SWOT Analysis
The theory of the SWOT analyses
The SWOT analysis aims to provide a short overview of a business s current strategic situation by
analyzing its internal factors, being strengths and weaknesses, alongside its external factors that might
have an impact on the businesses strategic choices, being the entity s opportunities and threats (Anja
Böhm, 2009: 1). The SWOT analysis is ultimately a tool which is used to analyze a business s current
situation in the market place and aims to identify a strategy for successful development using the
overlap between the internal and external factors. The acronym SWOT simply stands for strengths,
weaknesses, opportunities and threats (Nadine Pahl Anne Richter, 2009: 27).

help a business with their strategic decisions, and cannot produce the final decision by itself. A full
SWOT analysis often ends up producing long extensive lists of the strengths, weaknesses,
opportunities and threats which are not arranged in any particular way that could reflect priorities. It
does not rank the factors by importance. This can be a problem because some effects of certain
threats/weaknesses can be more serious and harmful to the businesses competitive advantage than
others but the SWOT analysis does not make this clear. It doesn t highlight or single out any of the
more important strengths and opportunities and this can sometimes lead to favorable opportunities
being lost among other mediocre ones. One of the problems that often arises when conducting a
SWOT analysis is that the same factor could be placed in two different categories. This problem of
ambiguity can cause disputes and confusion. An example of this would be locating a retail store on the
high upmarket streets of a big city. This is a strength as it puts the store out there to lots of potential
customers, but the weakness to this is that it would have very high

The Network Structure Is Called Learning Beyond
Organization Description
The organization we will be working for to organize and implement their network structure is called
Learning Beyond. It is a small educational program that students can attend after school in place of the
after school child care. It provides a fun educational environment for students who are in need of
additional tutoring in certain subjects, or who wish to expand their knowledge beyond the school day.
As of right now, it is fairly small, but we would like room for additional growth as the program gains
popularity. The basic requirements are two main instructor computers, 10 student laptops, and one
wireless printer. Internet access will be needed for each of these computers as well. An additional
building will later be provided at an alternate location that will need to be connected to this main
network. A Juniper Router will be needed, since the operating system the computers will be running
will be JUNOS. We will configure the network to be run on the IPv6 addressing system, to prevent the
need of reconfiguration when the mass crossover to IPv6 occurs. The network needs to be configured
to add any additional devices that will be needed in the future as the program grows.
Configuring IPv6 on a Juniper router A router on the network will provide the ability to connect
multiple local area networks (LAN) together in order for them to communicate. In this case, we will
be using a Juniper router to accommodate the JUNOS operation system.

Essay on Bacons Rebellion
Bacon s Rebellion
quot;Where we do well know that all our causes will be impartially heard and equally justice
administered to all men, quot; as stated by, Nathaniel Bacon. 1 In
1676 an uprising known as Bacon s Rebellion occurred in Virginia. The immediate cause of this revolt
was the dissension between the planters and the Indians.
Because Sir William Berkeley, the Governor of Virginia had willingly denied support to the farmers,
Bacon assumed leadership of an unauthorized expedition against the Indians. When Bacon learned
that Governor Berkeley was rising a force against him, he turned away from the Indians to fight with
Berkley. This had now become a serious problem for the governor. When news of this revolt had

Unfortunately Governor Sir William Berkeley was not living up to those standards.
Berkeley did not care about the farmers. It was obvious that the only thing he cared about was making
money. The event that sparked the rebellion occurred when the Indians attacked the farmers. Normally
these farmers were expecting to receive help from the governor. They became irritated when the
governor did not support them. Through the eyes of the freemen this was seen as a big mistake.
Because the governor did not give them the support, they had to take matters into their own hands.
After defeating the Indians, the unofficially elected
Nathaniel Bacon took charge. When he led his men into town to form an assembly, it would be the
first assembly in fifteen years. After the long struggle and hard fought battle these freemen received
their gift. They were finally able to appeal a law that denied their right to vote. They were now
considered legal voters. Another important aspect of democracy is social equality. During the
17th century in Virginia, people were either wealthy or poor. The proprietors held the wealth, while
the plantation workers in Virginia were poor. In addition the farmers had no rights. The freemen had to
be taxed and there was nothing they could do about it. It did not hurt the rich to be taxed because they
could afford it. When the lower class

It s summer, and there you are, drinking a refreshing beverage in the great outdoors when suddenly

Was it a bee? Or a wasp? Maybe a hornet, or yellowjacket?
If you didn t get a good look at the tiny assassin, you could always you know, carefully try following
it home, because it turns out you can learn a lot about a winged stinger by looking at it s nest.
But before we get into why that is, I want to talk a little bit about wasps versus bees.
First up, you should know that yellowjackets and hornets are basically types of wasps. They re all
members of the Vespidae family, which includes a lot of solitary species, but also social nest building
types. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Honeybees couldn t make their hives out of paper even if they wanted to, because they lack the proper
mouthparts, but that s cool because they have way better building materials on hand.
They secrete a durable, waxy substance from their abdomens and with it construct the hexagonal
honeycomb cells they use to store honey and pollen, and raise larvae.
These hives are sturdy and perennial. They re built to last for years, and even when one becomes
overcrowded and half the colony leaves to start a new hive, the rest remain, many of them
overwintering in the hive.
And honey bee colonies are huge supporting tens of thousands of members, in part because it takes
that many to accumulate the estimated 60 pounds of honey they ll need to get through the winter.
Most wasp colonies tend to be a lot smaller, and some paper wasp nests hold fewer than 100
individuals. Aside from the queen, wasps may only live a few weeks, and as predators they don t
really store food for any real length of time.
Basically their nests need only provide shelter for a season s worth of offspring, at least in temperate
areas, and they don t need to and often can t build the kind of hive that keeps bees safe and well fed

Elephant Symbolism In The Good Braider
Cecelia Ahern, author of Love, Rosie once wrote, Home isn t a place, it s a feeling . This relates to the
main character of The Good Braider by Terry Farish, because for Viola, home is more of a feeling of
stability rather than a place. The Good Braider is a harrowing and eye opening novel depicting the
story of Viola, a teenage girl whose life changes drastically when she flees her home in favor of safety.
Viola leaves life as she knows it in war ravaged South Sudan with her mother and brother on the path
to a better life in Portland, Maine. In Juba, she endured rape, fear, and apprehension. However, she
survived these circumstances with the symbolic help of elephant bone given to Viola by her mother.
As time went on and she immigrated to America, the elephant came to symbolize a connection
between her life back home and her new life in Portland. Towards the end of the novel, the elephant
becomes a symbol of comfort in stressful situations. As you can see, over the course of The Good
Braider, the elephant symbol changes as Viola does; what was once a symbol of strength at the
beginning of Viola s journey transforms into a connection between Juba and Maine, and finally
becomes a form of comfort.
In the beginning of Viola s journey, she faces rape, fear and apprehension in her homeland. She
survives life with the help of a piece of elephant bone given to her by her mother, Yumis. When Viola
was initially given the elephant bone, she notes, When it s dark and the power has gone off, my
mother presses something hard into my palm. I can t see it, but she says it s a bit of elephant bone she
found among the stones farther north on the Nile... No animal can kill the elephant (23) This quote
shows the original meaning of the elephant bone. It symbolizes strength in that no one can kill the
elephant, which comes into play throughout Viola s life. For instance, in part one of the novel, Viola is
raped by a soldier. She says, I knew the butt of his perik would slam into my head. But then the
elephant appeared to me. Be still, she warned (35). This detail exhibits how in one of the most grim
ordeals of her life, Viola was able to survive because of the symbolic presence of the elephant.
Because she visualized it,

Political Movements Like The No Child Left Behind
Intro Political movements like the No child left behind , have in turn placed political pressures on
teachers. This is largely impart because teachers are intimately integrated into a larger political fight,
that of educational reform. When considering educational reform, teacher tenure reform becomes the
hot topic under scrutiny. According to Greenwald (2010), ...teacher tenure represents all that is wrong
with the system protecting ineffective and unprofessional teachers (p.20). However, statements like
this take a one size fits all approach, which is generally a path of ignorance. Teacher tenure was
created from a fight for First Amendment protections and freed teachers from harsh administrators,
protected teachers from principals who could simply hire and fire at their own whim (Greenwald,
2010). Schools that are located in areas with high poverty and crime are usually underfunded and good
teachers are not attracted by what they are being paid for those positions. Should teachers get special
treatment and pay, because they are educators? The recruitment efforts of hiring new teachers into bad
impoverished areas should be offset by higher salaries and combat pay to compensate for the risk of
working in that type of environment. Teacher tenure was created from a fight for First Amendment

Yeats and John Hughes. Although George Russell attended a number of schools up until the age of 18,
moving more and more towards the direction of visual art, he never attended university and he seems
to be mostly self taught after his early school years.
It was in 1884 that George Russell first started taking an interest in the mystical world and the occult,
which also can be seen in his paintings and poems. This also led up to the creation of his pseudonym
Æ. After painting a series of pictures that shown the development of man, George Russell was haunted
for a name for his paintings. One night in a dream, he heard a voice saying Call it the birth Aeon
(Aön), After looking up the word in a library, George Russell found out that the word Aeon was used
by the Gnostics to represent the first created men. For a while he then started using Aeon as a
signature on his work, but later shortening it to Æ, which is how he s now more commonly known.
The first works with Æ as signature appeared in 1888.
From pictures and drawings of Æ Russell that I ve studied, his physical appearance in early years was

fairly tall, well proportioned but also heavy built man. Most of his life he wore a beard and in my view

Compare And Contrast English Colonization And Spanish...
From the mid 1500 s to the 1700 s, people from all over Europe flocked to the vast lands of North
America. Spain and England quickly became the most dominant European presences in the Americas.
Citizens of the two countries had very different experiences in the New World. This was partially due
to their different interactions with Native Americans, religions and their different motivations for
coming to the New World. Although rivals at the time, Spain and England s colonization efforts shared
many similarities. Motivation for coming to the New World greatly influenced Spanish and British
colonization. The Spanish are said to have had three distinct reasons; God, glory and gold. God
meaning the conversion of natives, glory meaning the claiming of new land for the Spanish empire
and gold meaning the desire to find gold to bring wealth back to Spain. The British colony of
Jamestown shared the desire to find gold. Unlike the Spaniards, the British didn t plan on permanently
settling in America. However, these plans changed and Jamestown became a settlement. ... Show more

Indians became tired of being treated so poorly, and launched attacks on the Spaniards. In contrast,
British colonists initiated the aggression towards the Algonquians after the Algonquians withdrew all
contact. As you can see, the British had a positive and equal relationship with the natives for the most
part. While the Spaniards always had a negative and controlling relationship with the natives. Both the

Human Science And Natural Science
Disagreement may aid the pursuit of knowledge in the natural and human sciences because
disagreement leads to new discoveries. Disagreement is about gathering reliable knowledge as well as
using this newfound knowledge, and occurs when a group fails to reach a consensus over the logic of
an argument. Knowledge is composed of facts, information, and skills acquired by a person through
experience or education. Two areas of knowledge that are impacted by disagreement are human
science and natural science. Human science is the study of human behavior and how humans gather
information. Natural science is a branch of science that deals with the physical world. In order for a
disagreement to occur, one must be familiar with the subject and have his or her own prediction that is
different from the norm. Therefore, to advance knowledge in the areas of human and natural science,
people must disagree. The roles of logic, reason, and emotion will be investigated to see how they are
used to help gain new knowledge in both human and natural science. Many knowledge claims in
human and natural science are based on theories. Jean Lamarck proposed the theory of evolution in
1801. The theory of evolution proposed by Lamarck was based on the idea that organisms had to
change their behavior to survive. For instance, if a giraffe stretched it neck for a long period of time to
reach the leaves as the top of the tree, then a nervous fluid would flow in the neck and make it longer.

helps anyone who studies the Holocaust have a sense of how precious life. In the true book,
Auschwitz: True Tales from a Grotesque Land by Sara Nomber Przytyk, I will discuss two subjects
the book, the terrible pains of Auschwitz, finding beauty in the worst of places, and I will also talk
about why I personally chose this book to read. Like every book, Sara Nomber Przytyk shows a
subject that is deep in their heart. In this case, the authors subject is her own personal story and
experience in Auschwitz during the Holocaust. As the book begins to continue, Sara is exposed to
starvation, anger, and death within Auschwitz. She continues to tell her story through urological
events happening to hand around her. Nomber Przytyk makes sure to not to leave anything out. She is
sure to tell the brutality the Nazis had her go ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She often intentionally comments on details she sees upon other girls in the camp such as physical
appearance and innocence inside of them. When girls encounter the author makes sure the reader gets
enough detail to bring a face in mind. By doing this she makes the story more humane helping the
reader to gain more feelings than if she did a simple description. She wants to give the feeling of
sadness just as she felt when they had left her. Sara Nomber Przytyk often refers to the facial features
of the girls such as freckles, hair, and height. She does this on purpose to create a point that even
though she was in the worst place imaginable beauty was still around her she just had to look for

Government In Brave New World
The government within the novel Brave New World goes to extreme measures to legitimize itself. It s
most extreme form of legitimization is going to great lengths to create significant class divides
amongst its citizens. From the beginning of an individual s life within this society their embryo is
exposed to different genetic enhancers and more or less oxygen depending on where they are
supposed to be in the caste system. Later on, as infants, certain castes are taught to dislike and fear
certain things. The government even goes to the lengths of sleep hypnosis to ensure the divide
amongst individuals in society. The conditioning of people also enhances this divide or separation
between people so that they don t fall in love with others, or

Critical Analysis OfMoney, By Roger Waters
Money, it s a hit
Don t give me that do goody good bullshit
I m in the high fidelity first class traveling set
And I think I need a Lear jet (Waters 9 12)
Money by Pink Floyd is a song written by Roger Waters and released in May of 1973. The main focus
of the song beyond the obvious (money) is the subtle commentary the singer makes on the capitalist
system. At the time of its release, the post World War II Soviet Union s economy was booming, and
massive periods stagflation in America began to force citizens to question the validity of the regulated
brand of capitalism made popular in the decades following Roosevelt s New Deal. The song, a
representation of American pop culture at the time, appears at first glance to be a sardonic
condemnation of the wealthiest members of society. However, a closer analysis reveals that the true
interpretation of the song is a literal one; Money is undoudbetdly a praise of capitalism. Waters
linguistic choices and overall message are unequivocally meant to simultaneously affirm a capitalist
system and glorify wealth. Most important in analyzing the passage is the overall meaning intended by
the speaker, Waters, and the structure of the song is paramount in determining it. In the first line, he
glorifies wealth and de facto the institutions from which it is produced. Money, it s a hit he claims,
whilst the baseline jauntily echoes his painfully obvious positive attitude (Waters 9). His next
statement is a response to an implied

Return of Martin Guerre
Starting with the premodern society and moving on to our modern society I will compare and contrast
the two societies. In the film The Return of Martin Guerre, the people lived on a pre modern society.
They lived in a agricultural society and this was shown by many reasons. First they had permanent
homes and used animals as well as tools to work their crops. They also used a crop rotation instead of
burning the land. This is just a basic outline of the society that Martin lived in. Looking deeper into
their social structure their society was much different than a modern one. As far as statuses and roles,
Martins society believe that status was more ascribed than achieved. This meant that being an older
person or a parent meant you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Events such as marriage were shared and talked about and doing things as an individual wasnot
common, like Martin originally leaving the village. Another example is that when the travelers came
into town they were not seen as trustworthy even though they claimed that the person they called
Martin was Arnaud. became suspicious not only of the strangers but also Arnaud. Going onto our
modern society there is a clear contrast but some similarities between now and the premodern society.
First, looking at the type of society we live in it is considered a information society. Unlike
agricultural, which was based off of growing crops and creating a food surplus, we create and store
information. We divide our labor like the ag. society but it is highly specialized work. People in an
information society also have a permanent settlement, instead of living in a village we live in suburban
residences outside of large cities. Included in this is commuting for work which means people now
have to travel farther distances to work. The main social focus is based off of consumption not
production like agricultural. Finally, children are seen more as expensive not a helping hand or
insurance when you get older like the premodern societies. Going to statuses and roles in a modern
society, there are very little similarities to the premodern. Unlike premodern,

Late Night Show Satire
Just a few years ago, late night shows were a way for celebrities to promote their new movie, TV
series, or music. The host would just conduct light hearted interviews and harmless, interactive games.
Jimmy Kimmel has had guests read hate tweets; James Corden has sang karaoke while driving guest
stars; Jimmy Fallon has competed in lip sync battles against guests; SNL has invited guests to
temporarily replace Pandora. Now, instead of simple comedy, some hosts are injecting political
commentary in their news updates and monologues. Over the last year, late night television ratings
have shifted. Fiery shows like Full Frontal with Samantha Bee and The Late Show with Stephen
Colbert have seen an influx of viewers; whereas the apolitical Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon has
begun to decline. TV preferences, show content, and social dynamics have transitioned to be more
political, demonstrating that our society is becoming more tribal, more group oriented. Last year, pre
Trump, Jimmy Fallon had the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For one, Donald Trump is not their president (Lang). Retorts like these have earned Noah and Colbert
nine hundred forty thousand and 3.31 million viewers, respectively (Welch). The people that watch
this political satire may find that it is enjoyable, even therapeutic, to laugh at the (ridiculous) news.
The desire to watch someone with the same opinions as us has encouraged comedians to alter their
content. Furthermore, they have become more overt in their beliefs because of the viewers. If viewers
did not want to see someone bashing Trump, they would not tune in. But people choose to watch.
They want to see someone make fun of Trump. They want to laugh at the comedians sarcastic
comments. They want to know how the hosts feel about the current events. This trend of like
mindedness has not only shifted TV ratings, it has also changed the dynamic of our

Compare And Contrast Thoreau And Walden
A Literary Analysis of works by Mary Oliver Henry David Thoreau
Author, Henry David Thoreau and Mary Oliver are both very passionate about nature and what it has
to offer in life, as well as the symbolism behind nature and its creatures in their works of literature, in
Walden , and The House of Light , Both authors discuss their views of nature and the beauty of the
world that they want to make familiar to their audience. In this essay, I ll provide my reasoning behind
this statement.
In Walden , Thoreau talks about his experience living at Walden pond for what he said was two years,
two months and two days where he for the most part, isolated himself from civilization and supported
himself with the help of no one else. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We talk slowly, two women trying/ in a difficult time to be wise./ Roots in the cellar drains,/ I say, and
she replies/ that the leaves are getting heavier/ every year, and the fruit/ harder to gather away. (7 14)
Mary Oliver was symbolizing this tree as something more than just a tree. I feel that the roots in the
drain that were mentioned were symbolized as her family s roots that are connected to that tree, and
when she says the roots are in the cellar drains, to me that meant that those roots go back to a very
long time ago, maybe as far back as to when the tree was planted or when the house that it stands over
was built.
I really liked Thoreau s belief that the mainstream American lifestyle along with the technology of it
all has really lessened our overall experience of life itself. We re so caught up in wanting the newest
iphone or fanciest car, instead of taking time to enjoy life as it is, without the unnecessary accessories
or what we see as necessities. The quote from Walden that says The mass of men lead lives of quiet
desperation...a stereotyped but unconscious despair is concealed even under what are called

recommended that family members start taking it. With some of the side effects, I would be cautious
giving it to a child with ADHD. I feel that the people who learned of the benefits of ginko biloba
should be compensated. I also feel that the workers who harvest ginko biloba should be compensated.

Marble And Depicting 10 Individual Reliefs
The piece, Sarcophagus of Junius Bassus, is constructed of marble and depicts 10 individual reliefs,
separated by columns. The figures in each subsection occupies most of the frame , with each figure s
head nearing the top of the low hanging ceiling . This height leads to non idyllic proportions
throughout the piece, with some people standing only 5 heads tall and with heads thicker than their
torsos. This disproportion leads to the belief that human anatomy was not the priority of the sculptor,
but rather the narrative of the overall piece, with no individual subsection dominating the composition.
The first subsection in the top left shows a bearded man and his right hand outstretched to the left side
of the canvas, with his other hand hovering over a kneeling child, with another man standing behind
him and some small animal, possibly a lamb, standing beneath the outstretched hand. According to
Stokstad, this may be a depiction of the Binding of Isaac, in which Abraham passes the test of faith
and willingly goes to sacrifice his firstborn son, Isaac, before divine intervention gives him a lamb as a
replacement (Stokstad 168). This conclusion is consistent with the depiction, allowing the viewer to
conclude that the outstretched hand is likely holding a knife and the figure present in the background
is an angel, delivering the lamb in tribute. The subsection below the Binding of Isaac shows a seated
man with a face of anguish, with two others standing over him, apparently

Essay about Women in The Workplace
Women in The Workplace
Gender plays a huge role in workplace success and can be a big challenge especially if the employee
is a woman in a male dominated workplace or career. No matter how hard nosed, ruthless, workaholic
a woman may be, or how much personal success she achieves, there will always tend to be some type
of obstacle to keep her from getting completely to the top of the corporate ladder. She must also still
fight stereotypes that undermines her confidence or limits her potential. Since the early 20th century,
women and minorities have sought equal opportunities in education and in the labor force with little
success. These obstacles or barriers are all known as the glass ceiling.

Every industry has its own version of an apprenticeship and the simple way to determine the boundary
of apprenticeship is to find where in a particular company or organization, the line is that must be
crossed before an individual is ?in the pack? to be considered for management or leadership.
According to the ?Sorcerer?s Apprentice to Through the Looking Glass,? women in every industry
and profession report that sexual harassment is most common during apprenticeship. Sexual
harassment is frequently defended as being just part of the normal hazing that is meted out to
apprentices. It is one of the most important mechanisms that implement the glass ceiling at the level of
apprenticeship. Although it may sound trivial to say that sexual harassment has a dramatically greater
effect on women than men, it is important to understand that its use may be the difference in how well
women perform during apprenticeship, and even whether they complete the apprenticeship at all.
One effective effort that an organization can make to eliminate the glass ceiling would be for an
organization to delineate its own apprenticeship, and pay particular attention to the fact that the
apprentices are almost certainly underreporting the problem of sexual harassment. This does not men

Characteristics Of The Biochar Derived From Pine Fruit...
Characteristics of the biochar
The characteristics of the biochar derived from pine fruit residue are shown in Table 1. The adsorptive
properties of sorbent are greatly dependent on their particle size and distribution throughout the mass.
Effective size and uniformity coefficient are the two important parameters for treatment of
contaminated water using adsorbent as filtering media in column operation where control of particle
size is critical. The effective size corresponds to the sieve size through which 10% of the material will
pass, and the uniformity coefficient is the ratio of the sieve size that will just pass 60% of the material
to the effective size. Generally, the rate of adsorption get enhanced as the particle size decreases due
availability of increased surface area. Therefore, the adsorbent with smaller effective sizes provide
better adsorption capacity due to better the access to the surface area and faster the rate of adsorption.
The typical range of effective size and uniformity coefficient for activated carbon as adsorbent media
practiced satisfactory is D10 = 0.15 0.35 mm and Cu = 2 3 respectively. In our case, Table 1 shows
that the biochar prepared have an effective size of 0.055 mm and uniformity coefficient 2.87. The
more uniform adsorbent media is expected to provide the slower head loss buildup and therefore,
careful consideration of particle sized distribution is must for dynamic column design.
The Cd(II) adsorption capacity of biochar depends upon

Focusing on education and support through woman centered care and displaying primary health practices in a professional setting. Nausea and vomiting in pregnancy (NVP) is common in the first trimester of pregnancy, it can be an unbearable condition that affects several women. By the end of the first trimester 60% of cases resolve, with 91% settling by 20 weeks of gestation. (Herrell, H. E.2014). Hyperemesis gravidarum is a severe case of vomiting in pregnancy, it is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both men and women can feel anxiety of parenthood and when woman are having symptoms of NVP this can result in absent work time, incomplete daily routines, managing to see friends or family and caring for other children in the home. Pregnant women can be left feeling exhausted and unhappy, this can then have some negative effects on family relationships, and some couples connections can feel strained. If the woman is working she may also need to tell her employer about the pregnancy, this may possibly be earlier then the women would have liked too. Generally this can be hard for some women. Asking for help is also difficult as a result of this women can become stressed, which can lead to sleep deprivation. Nausea can become worse if women are not getting adequate time for rest. Whilst women feel unwell they may experience some weight loss, this is not uncommon especially if women can not keep any food or fluids down. Weight gain will increase once the women can eat normally again, if women feel unsettled about weight loss they can talk to a dietitian who may suggest specific supplements. It is unknown what the exact underlying pathophysiology of NVP is but it s believed to be multifactorial and includes endocrine, gastrointestinal, cultural, psychosocial and environmental factors. • 3. Mexicans, Chicanos, Mexican Americans Mexicans, Chicanos, Mexican Americans, Indigenous, and more are just a few of the terms used to refer to people of Mexican descent. Many Hispanics attempt to enter the United States in search of a better life and to have an enjoyable way of life. However, living in constant fear of being deported and consistently being judged simply because of one s color, or the inability to communicate in English; that does not sound like the American dream. Typically, people have real reasons to emigrate to the United States, and it is in great part due to necessity. Most people have families they leave behind because they need money in order to survive and have food on the table every day, they see the United States as the solution to their problem. On another note, the 1960 s movements emerged during the Civil Rights era, in order to earn justice and rights for Mexican Americans in the United States. After years of being ignored, Mexicans decided to take a stand through the help of activists, hoping to attain victories for the Chicano community. Overall, after constant oppression, Chicanos fought back all the harsh treatment through the Chicano Movement arguing for a broad section of issues; however, nowadays many racial problems continue to exist, such as SB 1070 and HB 2281, which were polemical bills classified as racial attacks; they were directly aimed towards Mexicans. Shakespeare s play, King Lear is quite renowned and the folly of the ancient King is a great example of how not to handle family relationships. The question has been proposed if King Lear is redeemed when reunited with Cordelia. King Lear does achieve a kind of redemption when he is reunited with Cordelia in Acts IV and V of the tragedy. What kind of redemption he achieves is open to interpretation. In order to understand the King s redemption, it must be determined what the King is redeemed from. • 5. The Stanford Prison Experiment And Jonestown Follow the Leader Human beings perform actions that are often deemed illogical or detrimental. The activities are regularly enforced, encouraged, and compounded by others. The actions can be related to categories such as authority pressure, peer pressure, and situational pressure. In looking at articles like The Stanford Prison Experiment and Jonestown , the categories above can be confirmed. The articles show how people conform to the circumstances that surround them and provide little or no objection to the situation. The use of a tobacco product is a prime example of a detrimental action that people participate in due to the pressures placed on them or innuendos that are implied through authority, peers, or situations. Authoritative pressure could be defined as a type of coercion that is imposed by an individual in a supervisory or authoritarian role within a workplace or industry. Similar to the experiment that Mills discusses Stanley Milgram, PhD conducting in More shocking results: New research replicates Milgram s findings , supervisors replace teachers and new employees replicate students. As we have learnt earlier the use of the transport mode is of strategic importance to stock holding decisions. Air transport is much quicker but the costs are high as opposed to shipping by boat or rail. Sea or rail transport requires having higher levels of inventory in house to meet quick customer demands. Most importantly, customer service levels must be met, and this often determines the mode of transport used. The options for consideration include: rail, road, water (sea and river) or air transport. • 7. Sense And Sensibility In The Novel By Jane Austen Sense and Sensibility written by Jane Austen is a novel that does not only deal with two sister s love matters, but how two dissimilar personalities respond to society and love. The theme of society vs. sense is existed throughout the novel because it is concerned with the ruling of one s feelings, or the incapability to do so. Declaring love for someone, nurturing one s self and not caring what people think is important in expressing this kind of social duty. (Pam Morris, 43) This kind of theme is always present, with some dramatization, within Emma Thompson s 1995 film adaption. Literary critic Deborah Kaplan argues that Thompson s film adaption demonstrates harlequinization , where the narrative structure of the mass market structure , where a lot of people really like them, it focuses on a hero and a heroin s courtship at the expense of the other characters and experiences. Kaplan is stating that the film is negative because some characters are underrepresented. She s right, but at the same time it is to be expected because it is a film adaption. I argue that Kaplan is right, the film adaption does demonstrate this harlequinization to the point where it ignores all the important scenes within the novel such as how the Dashwood sisters are represented, Marianne s rescuers Willoughby and Colonel Brandon in contrast to the novel. With all of Jane Austen s novels, Sense and Sensibility gives the readers an insight of the personal lives of nineteenth century women, Marianne and Elinor Dashwood are the examples of heroines, sisters with dissimilar personalities. Marriage is a way to alter wealth for women, it is always a central theme within Austen s novels. In the novel, the Dashwood women are left poor because the fortunes of their father was inherited by their brother. The women leave their home and move to a home in Devonshire which belongs to John Middleton, who is Mrs. Dashwood s cousin. This is what introduces possible suitors for the two eldest Dashwood sisters, Marianne and Elinor. Edward Ferrars and Elinor fall in love and Marianne falls for John Willoughby. Before the final exam date, all students are requested to self grade. Students propose the mark/grade that they think they should get for the course. Then, the instructor accepts or declines the proposed mark of each student as the final mark for the course. This way, only students whose score was declined by the instructor will have to sit the final exam. Finally, we try to predict the instructor s decision of accepting or declining the score proposed by students. We have used two different (initial and new) data mining approaches (see Figure 1). A lot actually, not only do they share the same name of Vampire or Undead , they also share the same powers and needs. The vampire genre has gone a long way, specifically with books like Bram Stoker s Dracula. It first started out as folklore and then it turned into a popular topic of writing in early European culture. This continues to persist throughout the genre, a vampire has the need for blood so it turns to a victim and takes advantage of them, while also turning the victim into a vampire as well. This shows that Bram Stoker has successfully created a stereotype of fangs that are used to feed off the blood of victims that continues through this genre. There is something about burning red eyes of a blood hungry undead that just manages to stick with the whole vampire stereotypes. Despite not knowing that it was dracula, Jonathan Harker had met up with Dracula and had taken a lot of acknowledgement to the dark fire like eyes of the Count. Jonathan describes the scene of him meeting the count for the first time, I could only see the gleam of a pair of very bright eyes, which seemed red in the lamplight, as he turned to us (Stoker 10). This proves that the eyes are a first expression that comes to Harkers mind when he first sees the Count. Sofia spent most of her time in the oncology ward of the hospital where I volunteered. Her days consisted of sterile hospital rooms, scans, and chemotherapy. She was losing her hair because of chemo when most girls her age were learning how to braid theirs. She played with a doll (Mr. Buttons) in her hospital room instead of playing with other children. Sofia wasn t lonely in the traditional sense. Family, friends, and even strangers visited the little girl, but could barely interact with her. Most of the time, she was too tired to play and, when she finally mustered the energy, she found herself behind a glass panel. Week after week, hour after hour, I d go to the glass wall to see if she had awoken and would spend an hour that felt like seconds, playing with her. I suppose that s relativity for you. Sofia was both the highlight and heartbreak of my week. Comments like, Poor thing and It s just not fair were heard as often as the incessant beeping of the monitors. His work on the gold foil experiment contributed greatly to the model of the atom and helped develop the standard model of the atom to what we now use today. Without his contributions we would still be using the Plum Pudding model, an out dated and incorrect model, and we would have less of an understanding of how atoms form the world around us. Before Rutherford s Geiger Marsden experiment the most popular model of the atom was the plum pudding model developed in 1904 by the person who also discovered the electron in 1897, J.J. Thompson. He found that as the various metals disrupted the paths of the rays the flashes become more spread out. This result indicated that alpha particles were being deflected as they passed through the metals. Rutherford wanted to know if alpha particles could be deflected at a larger angle, as the current tool developed by Geiger could only measure deflection of up to a few angles. Geiger was joined by Ernest Marsden to create a new instrument to detect whether alpha particles could be deflected at greater angles. This device was different from the previous in the way that the gold foil and radium were both inside a metal cylinder, which was fixed to a swivel. The microscope attached penetrated the wall of the cylinder. The lens of the microscope was covered in a zinc sulphide screen and the microscope could be moved in a full circle around the foil so Geiger could tally the flashes of light from every possible angle. He observed alpha particles deflecting by as much as 150°. The results of this experiment proved the plum pudding model of the atom to be incorrect as some of the alpha particles (helium atoms) deflected meaning the atom has a dense centre of positive charge. A full SWOT analysis often ends up producing long extensive lists of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats which are not arranged in any particular way that could reflect priorities. This can be a problem because some effects of certain threats/weaknesses can be more serious and harmful to the businesses competitive advantage than others but the SWOT analysis does not make this clear. It provides a fun educational environment for students who are in need of additional tutoring in certain subjects, or who wish to expand their knowledge beyond the school day. As of right now, it is fairly small, but we would like room for additional growth as the program gains popularity. The basic requirements are two main instructor computers, 10 student laptops, and one wireless printer. Internet access will be needed for each of these computers as well. An additional building will later be provided at an alternate location that will need to be connected to this main network. A Juniper Router will be needed, since the operating system the computers will be running will be JUNOS. Essay on Bacons Rebellion Bacon s Rebellion quot;Where we do well know that all our causes will be impartially heard and equally justice administered to all men, quot; as stated by, Nathaniel Bacon. 1 In 1676 an uprising known as Bacon s Rebellion occurred in Virginia. The immediate cause of this revolt was the dissension between the planters and the Indians. Because Sir William Berkeley, the Governor of Virginia had willingly denied support to the farmers, Bacon assumed leadership of an unauthorized expedition against the Indians. When Bacon learned that Governor Berkeley was rising a force against him, he turned away from the Indians to fight with Berkley. This had now become a serious problem for the governor. Berkeley did not care about the farmers. It was obvious that the only thing he cared about was making money. The event that sparked the rebellion occurred when the Indians attacked the farmers. Normally these farmers were expecting to receive help from the governor. They became irritated when the governor did not support them. Through the eyes of the freemen this was seen as a big mistake. Because the governor did not give them the support, they had to take matters into their own hands. After defeating the Indians, the unofficially elected Nathaniel Bacon took charge. When he led his men into town to form an assembly, it would be the first assembly in fifteen years. After the long struggle and hard fought battle these freemen received their gift. They were finally able to appeal a law that denied their right to vote. They were now considered legal voters. Another important aspect of democracy is social equality. During the 17th century in Virginia, people were either wealthy or poor. The proprietors held the wealth, while the plantation workers in Virginia were poor. In addition the farmers had no rights. The freemen had to be taxed and there was nothing they could do about it. It did not hurt the rich to be taxed because they could afford it. When the lower class ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If you didn t get a good look at the tiny assassin, you could always you know, carefully try following it home, because it turns out you can learn a lot about a winged stinger by looking at it s nest. But before we get into why that is, I want to talk a little bit about wasps versus bees. First up, you should know that yellowjackets and hornets are basically types of wasps. Honeybees couldn t make their hives out of paper even if they wanted to, because they lack the proper mouthparts, but that s cool because they have way better building materials on hand. They secrete a durable, waxy substance from their abdomens and with it construct the hexagonal honeycomb cells they use to store honey and pollen, and raise larvae. These hives are sturdy and perennial. They re built to last for years, and even when one becomes overcrowded and half the colony leaves to start a new hive, the rest remain, many of them overwintering in the hive. And honey bee colonies are huge supporting tens of thousands of members, in part because it takes that many to accumulate the estimated 60 pounds of honey they ll need to get through the winter. Most wasp colonies tend to be a lot smaller, and some paper wasp nests hold fewer than 100 individuals. Aside from the queen, wasps may only live a few weeks, and as predators they don t really store food for any real length of time. • 31. Elephant Symbolism In The Good Braider Cecelia Ahern, author of Love, Rosie once wrote, Home isn t a place, it s a feeling . This relates to the main character of The Good Braider by Terry Farish, because for Viola, home is more of a feeling of stability rather than a place. The Good Braider is a harrowing and eye opening novel depicting the story of Viola, a teenage girl whose life changes drastically when she flees her home in favor of safety. Viola leaves life as she knows it in war ravaged South Sudan with her mother and brother on the path to a better life in Portland, Maine. In Juba, she endured rape, fear, and apprehension. However, she survived these circumstances with the symbolic help of elephant bone given to Viola by her mother. As time went on and she immigrated to America, the elephant came to symbolize a connection between her life back home and her new life in Portland. Towards the end of the novel, the elephant becomes a symbol of comfort in stressful situations. As you can see, over the course of The Good Braider, the elephant symbol changes as Viola does; what was once a symbol of strength at the beginning of Viola s journey transforms into a connection between Juba and Maine, and finally becomes a form of comfort. In the beginning of Viola s journey, she faces rape, fear and apprehension in her homeland. She survives life with the help of a piece of elephant bone given to her by her mother, Yumis. When Viola was initially given the elephant bone, she notes, When it s dark and the power has gone off, my mother presses something hard into my palm. I can t see it, but she says it s a bit of elephant bone she found among the stones farther north on the Nile... No animal can kill the elephant (23) This quote shows the original meaning of the elephant bone. It symbolizes strength in that no one can kill the elephant, which comes into play throughout Viola s life. For instance, in part one of the novel, Viola is raped by a soldier. She says, I knew the butt of his perik would slam into my head. But then the elephant appeared to me. Be still, she warned (35). This detail exhibits how in one of the most grim ordeals of her life, Viola was able to survive because of the symbolic presence of the elephant. Because she visualized it, ... Schools that are located in areas with high poverty and crime are usually underfunded and good teachers are not attracted by what they are being paid for those positions. Should teachers get special treatment and pay, because they are educators? Spain and England quickly became the most dominant European presences in the Americas. Citizens of the two countries had very different experiences in the New World. This was partially due to their different interactions with Native Americans, religions and their different motivations for coming to the New World. Although rivals at the time, Spain and England s colonization efforts shared many similarities. Motivation for coming to the New World greatly influenced Spanish and British colonization. The Spanish are said to have had three distinct reasons; God, glory and gold. God meaning the conversion of natives, glory meaning the claiming of new land for the Spanish empire and gold meaning the desire to find gold to bring wealth back to Spain. Disagreement is about gathering reliable knowledge as well as using this newfound knowledge, and occurs when a group fails to reach a consensus over the logic of an argument. Knowledge is composed of facts, information, and skills acquired by a person through experience or education. Two areas of knowledge that are impacted by disagreement are human science and natural science. Human science is the study of human behavior and how humans gather information. Natural science is a branch of science that deals with the physical world. In order for a disagreement to occur, one must be familiar with the subject and have his or her own prediction that is different from the norm. Therefore, to advance knowledge in the areas of human and natural science, people must disagree. The roles of logic, reason, and emotion will be investigated to see how they are used to help gain new knowledge in both human and natural science. Many knowledge claims in human and natural science are based on theories. Jean Lamarck proposed the theory of evolution in 1801. The theory of evolution proposed by Lamarck was based on the idea that organisms had to change their behavior to survive. The main focus of the song beyond the obvious (money) is the subtle commentary the singer makes on the capitalist system. At the time of its release, the post World War II Soviet Union s economy was booming, and massive periods stagflation in America began to force citizens to question the validity of the regulated brand of capitalism made popular in the decades following Roosevelt s New Deal. The song, a representation of American pop culture at the time, appears at first glance to be a sardonic condemnation of the wealthiest members of society. However, a closer analysis reveals that the true interpretation of the song is a literal one; Money is undoudbetdly a praise of capitalism. Waters linguistic choices and overall message are unequivocally meant to simultaneously affirm a capitalist system and glorify wealth. Most important in analyzing the passage is the overall meaning intended by the speaker, Waters, and the structure of the song is paramount in determining it. This trend of like mindedness has not only shifted TV ratings, it has also changed the dynamic of our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Compare And Contrast Thoreau And Walden A Literary Analysis of works by Mary Oliver Henry David Thoreau Author, Henry David Thoreau and Mary Oliver are both very passionate about nature and what it has to offer in life, as well as the symbolism behind nature and its creatures in their works of literature, in Walden , and The House of Light , Both authors discuss their views of nature and the beauty of the world that they want to make familiar to their audience. In this essay, I ll provide my reasoning behind this statement. In Walden , Thoreau talks about his experience living at Walden pond for what he said was two years, two months and two days where he for the most part, isolated himself from civilization and supported himself with the help of no one else. ... We talk slowly, two women trying/ in a difficult time to be wise./ Roots in the cellar drains,/ I say, and she replies/ that the leaves are getting heavier/ every year, and the fruit/ harder to gather away. (7 14) Mary Oliver was symbolizing this tree as something more than just a tree. I feel that the roots in the drain that were mentioned were symbolized as her family s roots that are connected to that tree, and when she says the roots are in the cellar drains, to me that meant that those roots go back to a very long time ago, maybe as far back as to when the tree was planted or when the house that it stands over was built. I really liked Thoreau s belief that the mainstream American lifestyle along with the technology of it all has really lessened our overall experience of life itself. We re so caught up in wanting the newest iphone or fanciest car, instead of taking time to enjoy life as it is, without the unnecessary accessories or what we see as necessities. • 46. Benefits Of Ginko Biloba I have heard of ginko biloba and the benefits of taking it. My wife s aunt his early onset Alzheimer s her doctors recommended that she try ginko biloba first to see if it helped with her memory. They also recommended that family members start taking it. With some of the side effects, I would be cautious giving it to a child with ADHD. I feel that the people who learned of the benefits of ginko biloba should be compensated. I also feel that the workers who harvest ginko biloba should be compensated. I had no idea that Periwinkle can be used for many ailments. I think my wife bought some for ground cover. I wonder why expecting women and lactating women cannot use it. And if the FDA considered it unfit for human consumption how is it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Marble And Depicting 10 Individual Reliefs The piece, Sarcophagus of Junius Bassus, is constructed of marble and depicts 10 individual reliefs, separated by columns. The figures in each subsection occupies most of the frame , with each figure s head nearing the top of the low hanging ceiling . This height leads to non idyllic proportions throughout the piece, with some people standing only 5 heads tall and with heads thicker than their torsos. This disproportion leads to the belief that human anatomy was not the priority of the sculptor, but rather the narrative of the overall piece, with no individual subsection dominating the composition. The first subsection in the top left shows a bearded man and his right hand outstretched to the left side of the canvas, with his other hand hovering over a kneeling child, with another man standing behind him and some small animal, possibly a lamb, standing beneath the outstretched hand. According to Stokstad, this may be a depiction of the Binding of Isaac, in which Abraham passes the test of faith and willingly goes to sacrifice his firstborn son, Isaac, before divine intervention gives him a lamb as a replacement (Stokstad 168). This conclusion is consistent with the depiction, allowing the viewer to conclude that the outstretched hand is likely holding a knife and the figure present in the background is an angel, delivering the lamb in tribute. The subsection below the Binding of Isaac shows a seated man with a face of anguish, with two others standing over him, apparently ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Essay about Women in The Workplace Women in The Workplace Gender plays a huge role in workplace success and can be a big challenge especially if the employee is a woman in a male dominated workplace or career. No matter how hard nosed, ruthless, workaholic a woman may be, or how much personal success she achieves, there will always tend to be some type of obstacle to keep her from getting completely to the top of the corporate ladder. She must also still fight stereotypes that undermines her confidence or limits her potential. Since the early 20th century, women and minorities have sought equal opportunities in education and in the labor force with little success. These obstacles or barriers are all known as the glass ceiling. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Every industry has its own version of an apprenticeship and the simple way to determine the boundary of apprenticeship is to find where in a particular company or organization, the line is that must be crossed before an individual is ?in the pack? to be considered for management or leadership. According to the ?Sorcerer?s Apprentice to Through the Looking Glass,? women in every industry and profession report that sexual harassment is most common during apprenticeship. Sexual harassment is frequently defended as being just part of the normal hazing that is meted out to apprentices. It is one of the most important mechanisms that implement the glass ceiling at the level of apprenticeship. Although it may sound trivial to say that sexual harassment has a dramatically greater effect on women than men, it is important to understand that its use may be the difference in how well women perform during apprenticeship, and even whether they complete the apprenticeship at all. One effective effort that an organization can make to eliminate the glass ceiling would be for an organization to delineate its own apprenticeship, and pay particular attention to the fact that the apprentices are almost certainly underreporting the problem of sexual harassment. This does not men that sexual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Characteristics Of The Biochar Derived From Pine Fruit... Characteristics of the biochar The characteristics of the biochar derived from pine fruit residue are shown in Table 1. The adsorptive properties of sorbent are greatly dependent on their particle size and distribution throughout the mass. Effective size and uniformity coefficient are the two important parameters for treatment of contaminated water using adsorbent as filtering media in column operation where control of particle size is critical. The effective size corresponds to the sieve size through which 10% of the material will pass, and the uniformity coefficient is the ratio of the sieve size that will just pass 60% of the material to the effective size. Generally, the rate of adsorption get enhanced as the particle size decreases due availability of increased surface area. Therefore, the adsorbent with smaller effective sizes provide better adsorption capacity due to better the access to the surface area and faster the rate of adsorption. The typical range of effective size and uniformity coefficient for activated carbon as adsorbent media practiced satisfactory is D10 = 0.15 0.35 mm and Cu = 2 3 respectively. In our case, Table 1 shows that the biochar prepared have an effective size of 0.055 mm and uniformity coefficient 2.87. The more uniform adsorbent media is expected to provide the slower head loss buildup and therefore, careful consideration of particle sized distribution is must for dynamic column design. The Cd(II) adsorption capacity of biochar depends upon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
