The Importance And Uses Of Wastewater Treatment
Wastewater treatment is important in many ways. One reason that it is so important is because, at the
plant, they water and other things as well. In the Middle Ages in London people had laws and
regulations about waste treatment (O Neill, 2013). Without wastewater treatment most species of
animals would be extinct because the water in lakes and oceans would be polluted with human waste.
Wastewater treatment is important because it keeps the Earth clean, it recycles more than just water,
and it saves animal species from becoming extinct.
Wastewater treatment keeps the Earth clean because without it humans would not have a steady source
of drinking water. Back in the Middle Ages people were concerned about water treatment. People
were heavily fined if they were caught dumping sewage into the streets. Instead, the people would
take their buckets filled with raw sewage and dump it into nearby rivers and streams. This was
extremely unsanitary. The bacteria, or decomposers, would break down the waste but there was so
much that it took a long time. The people didn t know how disease was spread by waste. They thought
that it was by its odors (O Neill, 2013). People who owned larger houses had people come and clean
their enclosed latrines. Even further back, the Aztecs had a waste system where all of the human waste
would be used as fertilizer for their crops (Medina, 2014). Then the saprophytic bacteria would do the
rest, consuming the decomposing matter. Saprophytic bacteria

Objective Racism
Objective Racism:
An essay on how segregation affected the USA, and its lingering effect on the nation
The United States of America is one of the best countries in the world. The country considers its start
as a nation to be 1776, and since then, America has stood for freedom all around the world. The USA
has had military supremacy for years; considered one of the only superpowers in the world currently.
Most importantly, however, is that it is a melting pot of different ethnic groups and cultures. Sadly,
most places in America do not contain this important standard of no prejudice. After the Plessy v.
Ferguson case, subtle racism became more abundant throughout the south, and although the
government resolved main problem in the 60 s, racism still abides on both ends today. In 1863,
President Abraham Lincoln issued the emancipation proclamation. This act freed thousands of slaves,
and enacted the abolition of slavery after the north won the Civil War. In turn, legislation passed many
amendments prohibiting any discrimination of blacks. In 1883, the Supreme Court ruled against this
amendment, they ruled that, The 14th Amendment did not give Congress authority to prevent
discrimination by private individuals. So when the states got the power to decide, most states decided
to pass laws known as Jim Crow laws. These laws segregated blacks and whites in almost all ways of
life, from schools to railroad carts. In 1892, Homer Plessy, a mixed man, sat in a white

Camus Arguments Against The Great Replacement
In 2015, the Syrian civil war has displaced more than 4 million to refugee camps in neighbouring
countries like Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon. Refugees have since began their journey, seeking
rumoured employment opportunities and social benefits in destination countries, on boats or pay
smugglers without any guarantee on safety and welfare. The influx of refugees on EU s shores stunned
its members with pressures of uncontrolled migration and rising political, security and social issues.
The current crisis exposed EU s incompetence in creating swift and unanimous decision from its states

national sovereignty through solidarity movements and protests such as the Great Replacement, as
issue of their identity as citizens in the crisis is in turmoil. The Great Replacement, a concept by
French author Renaud Camus, is the process by which native citizens are replaced within their
homeland by foreigners is now an active movement across Europe on the rise against the crisis of
refugees. In Vienna, Austria (2015), the Great Replacement movement took place and used slogans
like Today we show tolerance. Tomorrow we are strangers in our own land. for the EU leaders in
protest against the refugees integration into the nation (BoltonBNP, 2015). In Finland, a protester said,
Finns need to be helped first. Everything has been taken from the unemployed, the poor and the sick.

Explain The Differences Between The Hayward Gallery
Explain the differences between the Hayward gallery (1968) and its South Bank neighbour, the Royal
Festival Hall (1951) in terms of their planning and finishing and in the different ways they relate to
their urban context. While there are many similarities between the Hayward Gallery and Royal
Festival Hall, there also are a number of differences in terms of planning and finishing in relation to
urban context. Higgs and Hill built the Hayward Gallery, which opened on The 9th of July. It is an art
gallery located in the Southbank Centre, which is a key arts venue in Central London. Until early 2011
the gallery was simply known as the Hayward. The Royal Festival Hall is situated adjacent to the
Hayward Gallery. It is a famous dance, concert and talks venue with a capacity of 2500. It was the
first the post war building to listed as a Grade 1 building. The Hall officially opened on 3rd May 1951
and was built as part of the Festival of Britain for the London County Council. Planning plays an
integral role in the procedure to achieve any given outcome. Without any planning it would be
extremely challenging for the architects to succeed with their desired outcome. Nonetheless the
finishing of any project is equally important as the planning. The finishing refers to materials that are

Rawls Theory of Justice
The conventional accounts of Justice normally begin by stating a fundamental rule of Aristotle Justice
is to treat equals equally and unequals unequally, and that unequal treatment should be in proportion to
the inequality. In everyday life though, justice is seen as an attribute of law, while all laws are not
necessarily just. Many great socio political movements of the world have focused from time to time on
unjust laws eg Apartheid laws in South Africa and
Caste laws in India. Impartiality and fairness are understood to be the two aspects of justice. But it
would be misleading to suggest that Justice refers solely to the fair application of a rule. Some rules,
though fairly applied, may produce results repugnant to our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Rawls assumes that these hypothetical people would be conservative risk takers and in a situation of
uncertainty would opt for the least disadvantageous outcome in any choice presented to them and they
would choose those principles that would maximize the position of the worst off, for just in case they
should be the worst off.
The two principles of justice that such people choose are:
1. Each person is to have an equal right to the most extensive liberty compatible with a similar liberty
to others. 2. Social and economic inequalities are to be arranged so that they are both
a) to the greatest benefit of the least advantages
b) attached to offices and positions open to all under conditions of fair equality and opportunity.
These principles are arranged by Rawls in a specific order and are subject to the priority rule, ie the
first principle has to always precede the second and 2a should always come before 2b. Rawls
commitment to equality, his passionate defense of liberty and his acceptance of inequality only when
it brings advantages to the least advantaged are the basic principles of his theory. Thus Rawls
advocates a constitutional democracy as the arrangement for upholding these principles. Although this
theory seems like a foolproof and universal arrangement in favour of justice and

The Negative Effects Of Globalization
After reading the history of this person, I experienced different feelings in the first pride that in this
world there are still such people, secondly the sadness that I as a person still failed to do something
extraordinary for this world. From what I have read, I have noticed, to a large extent, the positive
aspects of globalization. Even Samir himself speaks about this that they greatly influenced him
Globalization has had a very strong effect on me. It has allowed me to live with my friends and

fast food and coffee, about which we could read, but nevertheless the knowledge of the language at a

the world is different. In the sense that globalization can influence us in terms of thinking, because we
thought at home differently than when we are in another country, and we have to think and act
differently.
We could read above how the globalization of the pop industry influences the world, the young
generation s world that movies and TV shows dictate to the world how we live and dress. The world
of music I want to talk about it and about how music affects globalization. After all, every nation and
people has and has the roots of musical style and sound (its folk music) but the tendencies of the new
world are changing everything and the US is one of the biggest industries that influence it. We
remember how the first emo, Goths and other fans of these themes appeared. And the fact that music
affects us on our feelings, because under every mood we listen to different music. When sad we listen
to the sad and etc. Everyone has his own idol which we end up trying to please. As a result, the
younger generation forgets the style and sound that was inherent in its people. I also want to touch on
the theme of books that foreign books have become

Ancient Near East History

How did the Persian kings control/govern the various parts of their realm? Consider at least three
different geographical areas
The origins of Cyrus the Great are rather unclear and highly disputed. Multiple accounts range from
him being the grandson of the Median King Astyages to being the son of a poor Persian family of a
disreputable clan. Although there can be no certainty, as with most everything from the ancient world,
it is widely believed that, by heredity, he became the sub king of a Persian land called Persis, under
the rule of the Median king Astyages. (Cook 1983, 25 26) He quickly expanded his power by unifying

After conquering Media, Babylonia, and Egypt, for instance, Cyrus The Great and Cambyses II would
make a personal union with the peoples of these countries. They would crown themselves according to
the local customs, and created normal conditions for the development of the economy and transit
trade. They retained, with moderate altercations, the local political structures in these countries, and
offered the peoples a large degree of local self government. These first two kings proved to have not
created a very well structured empire, however, which led to the multiple uprisings from 523 521
BCE. (Gershevitch 1985, 502 504) From there, Darius I, the King who proceeded Cambyses II, found
a more stable balance by putting in place a more organized administrative system that would not
undergo any fundamental changes up until the demise of the Achaemenid Empire.
The system that Darius I put in place split the empire up into roughly twenty satrapies that would be
governed by satraps. The satraps were responsible for collecting the annual tribute set by the king,
drafting people to the army, and maintaining justice and security within their satrapy. The satraps
would also have an armed force at their disposal to keep everybody within their satrapy in line.
(Gershevitch 1985, 267) Inspectors would also periodically visit each satrapy to

individual and falls within the first amendment in the constitution along with eight more! So how can
we legally ban smoking from a whole college campus? In the end, the individual is going to do what
he/she pleases if there is no enforcement. Smoking should be banned from college campus, except
where there is a designated smoking area away from others on the campus! Smoking is the use of

mountain dew without any nicotine. Although research shows that bystanders aren t exposed to the
secondhand smoke, they are still being exposed to the nicotine! (Keilman) The American Lung
Association s found the chemicals formaldehyde and acetone in the e cigarette vapor that is exhaled.
(Keilman) Should the use of e cigarettes be allowed in a public smoke free zone? If you took a
moment to consider the facts about the many harmful chemicals inside of cigarette smoke and what it
does, not only to the smoker s body, but to those around them as well, could you see why smoking is
banned from many places such as: restaurants, schools, shopping centers, and most public places?
Although, there is one place in particular where officials are attempting to get smoking banned, but
haven t fully done it yet, college campuses! College campuses are a prime place for encountering
someone who smokes considering the fact that people of all ages attend college.
Now, one could argue that to ban smoking from a college campus is against their constitutional rights.

It is easy to presume that that person is in the position they are in because of money, connections or an
extraordinary intellect. We may suppose that any adversity or problems that this type of person has
encountered are on another level to those that we face. Perhaps we don t imagine that there were
private obstacles to overcome, personality traits that needed adjustment or adaptation, that private
insecurities or personal failings had to be surmounted. It is simplest to assume that the role of
leadership was cut out for him/her alone. More often than not, one imagines that the leader in an
individual emerges early on in life, apparent from an early age: a bright child with above average
intelligence, active in all walks of life, successful in anything that he puts his/her hand to, popular with
peers and admired by elders. But nothing is that simple. Take Eleanor Roosevelt: Eleanor Roosevelt

The Positive And Negative Aspects Of Hospitalization
Healthcare is an issue that affects people all around the world. Many countries have adopted different
perspectives on how to solve this problem. Two of the main solutions to the healthcare problem are a
free market healthcare system or a national healthcare system. Both of these positions have positive
and negative attributes that come into play when they are compared with one another. These systems
create an environment where the majority of people receive healthcare but in different ways.
Healthcare is something that allows people to use hospitals and other facilities at a reduced cost. This
enables people to get check ups and immunizations without paying for the full cost of the visit. In the
case where hospitalization occurs healthcare covers a large portion of the costs to stay in the hospital
and the procedures that you may undergo while you are in the hospital. Healthcare becomes very
important to individuals all around the world with the price of hospitals and other facilities rising. This
rise in prices is making it hard for people to get the appropriate care they need without having
insurance companies pay for part of the expenses. A national healthcare system, also called universal
healthcare, is one where every citizen is provided with some healthcare coverage whether it be from
the government or private industries. Some, but not all, of national healthcare systems are single payer
healthcare systems. A single payer healthcare system is where one agency,

Born in 1896 and although died, insane and in poverty in 1948, Artaud lived an influential life. All his
attempts to create a theatre of magic, of beauty and power that would change the hearts of people,
ended in failure. He was the father of the Theatre of Cruelty. Although his views and practices are

Questions On Faults And Degradation
section{Simple POdtSHS System Example} label{sec:shsexample} Since we are interested in faults
and degradation, the system will have three modes and one continuous state, i.e.: egin{itemize} item
$mathcal{Q}={q_1,q_2,q_3}={mathrm{OK},mathrm{FAULTY},mathrm{BROKEN}}$ item
$n(q_1)=n(q_2)=n(q_3)=1$ end{itemize} The modes signalize the faults of the system, with $q_1$
being the faultless mode, $q_2$ denoting a fault in the system that compromises its operation and
finally $q_3$ denoting completely broken system that is incapable of operating at all. The continuous
state $x$ denotes the degradation level of the equipment and can have any value from interval
$[0,100]$. The outputs will be observed degradation level and observed mode. Thus the observation
vector will be a two element vector $y=(y_1,y_2)$ with $y_1in,[0,100]$ meaning an observed
(estimated) level of degradation, e.g. from computing some key performance indicator (KPI) from
sensor measurements. The $y_2in{mathrm{OK},mathrm{FAULTY},mathrm{BROKEN}}$ is again
observed (or estimated) mode, e.g. from some fault detection engine in place which itself aggregates
and transforms sensor readings into this one discrete signal. The outputs are subject to sensor noise
etc., so they do not perfectly correlate with the true system state. The actions will depict the system
maintenance and thus the action space $mathcal{U}$ will be a three element set ${u_1,u_2,u_3}$
with the first element meaning doing no maintenance action, the

Social Norms And Deviance In Football
Deviance as a word refers to any behavior regarded as odd or unacceptable. However, from a
sociological point of view, deviance refers to any action or behavior that runs contrary to social norms
(Macionis and Gerber 200). This includes crimes, which are violations of formally enacted rules, as
well as violation of the socially accepted norms. Norms refer to the rules as well as the expectations
that guide the conventional behavior of human beings (Macionis and Gerber 204). Thus, deviant acts
arise from non conformance with these norms. Deviance is relative, to both the time and the place.
This is because an act that may appear deviant in a particular context may not be deviant in another.
For example, fighting at school is a deviant behavior, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Plato s The Nicomachean Ethics
In the Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle presents the reader with a guide to living a good life. He claims
the highest good is happiness, and the way to obtain it is through the use of reason. In order to better
comprehend Aristotle s ideas regarding happiness, we will explain his conception of eudaimonia and
excellence through rational activity. Then, we will examine this concept of rational activity in relation
to the aristotelian concept of self sufficiency. At the end of the Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle offers a
seemingly divergent point of view. However, we will argue that these final reflections on happiness
describe the best way to experience a good life.
All individuals are in search of some good. Every one of our actions, skills and choices has an aim,
and this aim is defined as the good of that particular activity (1094a1 3). While these activities are
distinct, some may be classed into broader faculties. For example, ethics, metaphysics, aesthetics,
logic and epistemology are all activities that fall under the more general faculty of philosophy. As a
result, the individual ends of the former all work towards the superior good of the latter. (1094a9 16).
However, such ends are incomplete they are not pursued for their own sake, but for the sake of another
superior goal. As we examine the categorization of activity, is important to distinguish between
instrumental value and intrinsic value. An action or skill with instrumental value is not pursued for its

Five Most Important Events in U.S. History
First thing that I chose for my project is, 9/11. This was a dark time for all of America at the time. 9/11
took place November 11, 2001. It was organized by 19 al Qaeda terrorists. The terrorists hijacked 4
commercial planes. Two of the four headed to the World Trade Center while the third headed for the
Pentagon. After learning the actions of the three planes, the fourth crash landed in an empty field
somewhere in Western Pennsylvania. This is considered the largest number of fatalities that were
caused by a foreign attack that happened on American soil which resulted in almost 3,000 deaths.
When the people of America found out the events, millions went to help fight and protect against
anymore attacks. Next I chose the Manhattan Project. The Manhattan project was a project that
brought the world into the nuclear age/era. In the year 1939, we learned that German physicians had
learned the secret to splitting the uranium atom. This was extraordinary. When Albert Einstein fled to
America, he brought information about the German s capability to create a bomb capable of mass
destruction. Einstein was accompanied by Erico Fermi, who escaped fascist Italy. The two thought
they should tell President Roosevelt. They wrote a letter to him urge him to establish an atomic
research project. Roosevelt agreed but didn t want everyone to know about it. He called it the
Manhattan Project. The main facility they built was in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Nearly two billion

Abstract
My hypothesis is that if I add different amounts of sugar to the same amount of boiling water and
allow it to be cooled, than the one with the additional cup of sugar will be the one that grows more
crystals. I determined that my hypothesis was correct. The glass I chose to add the pure cane sugar did

Rock candy is a simple scientific experiment made at home from sugar and water. Rock candy can be
made up of different types of sugar. I used pure cane granulated sugar. Rock candy is formed when
sugar is dissolved in boiling water and is cooled and placed in a glass jar with the wooden skewer.
When the water evaporates the sugar crystal will start to grow overtime. The water and sugar is a
saturated solution, meaning that water could only hold sugar if both were very hot. By cooling the
water, the sugar comes out of the solution and forms crystals on the skewer and around the glass. The
hypothesis for my experiment was that the more sugar you use the more crystals will form. My
question is if you add more sugar, will more crystals?
Experimental Procedure Question: If you add more sugar will more crystals form? Hypothesis: If I
add more sugar to the same amount of boiling water, it will grow more crystals. Materials:
Observation 1; 1 cup of water, 2 cups of sugar, 1 glass jar, 1 wooden skewer, 1 plate and 2 clothespins.
Observation 2; 1 cup of water, 3 cups of sugar, 1 glass jar, 1 wooden skewer, 1 plate, 5 drops of red
food coloring, and one plate. Procedure: I. Gather all the materials together. II. Label the glasses, 1
will be observation 1 and the other observation 2. III. For observation 1 and 2, pour 1 cup of water
into a pan and place on stove on high heat. For observation 2 add

Successful Open Marriages In Opening Up By Alfred Kinsey
Open marriages are a form of relationship first brought into the public eye by Alfred Kinsey in the
1960s. Since then, the idea of approved extra martial affairs have become even more popular, despite
the uneducated critics hollering about it being an insult to the institution of marriage, or a way to
justify cheating on one s significant other. As open marriages start to become a more feasible option
for couples looking to explore their sexuality, a common question always seems to come up; this
inquiry, in fact, will be the purpose of the following text. To begin, I use examples from the 2004
biographical film Kinsey, directed by Bill Condon and produced by Gail Mutrux. While integrating
discussion from Tristan Taormino and her book Opening Up: A Guide to Sustaining Open
Relationships, I introduce the concept of sociosexuality with the help of Lars Penke s Sociosexual
Orientation Inventory. In creating discussion with the above names, I aim to demonstrate just what
does make for a successful open relationship.
In the film Kinsey (Condon Mutrux, 2004), there is a clear divide between what constitutes a
successful and unsuccessful open relationship. Alfred Kinsey and his wife Clara Macmillan both
engage in extramarital affairs, yet remain close physically, emotionally, and sexually. Alternatively,
Clyde Martin (whom, it is worth noting, at one time engaged in an affair with both Kinsey and his
wife) starts a fight with another man, Paul Gebhard, after finding out Mrs.

Educating The Gifted Through Ability
Educating the Gifted Through Ability Grouping in Elementary Schools
1) What is Ability Grouping? How does it seek to further the educational needs of a diverse group of
students in a classroom or a school?
a) Ability grouping refers to the grouping of students of the same ability or according to their
demonstrated performance or readiness level (Misset et al)
(1) Using groups according to ability creates a homogenous environment for students to learn with
others at a pace that matches the needs of the whole group. This seeks to inhibit the loss of interest for
students who learn more quickly and ensure that students who need more time and assistance in
certain academic areas will receive additional instruction.

evaluations that are given by education professionals. One such determination is a child who has an IQ
of 130 or higher, or who places in the top ten percentile in standardized testing.
(i) Anne Wheelock states in her interview that labeling students by ability tends to be more associated
with pace of learning than capacity to learn (Bozzone, 1995)
2) Formative assessment is encouraged to better help instructors understand and assist students in
accelerated learning.
a) Black and William derived guidelines for effective formative assessment: The assessment must be

on identifying strengths and weaknesses of students in comprehension and/or in application of the
subject matter, and formative assessment should be used to make adjustments in the curriculum to
improve learning prior to the unit summative assessment. Formative assessments should also produce
data relating to measurable attributes of learning within a unit, data on the performance level achieved
by a student on that attribute, and data that allow the teacher to

Analysis Of Stop All The Clocks
W. H. Auden s poem, Stop all the clocks, expresses the meaning of massive grief, a tragic loss, and a
tireless hopelessness best represented in the last lines, For nothing now can ever come to any good.
Personally the mood of the poem felt a bit depressing and a sadness that I know all too well. The title
and first line of the poem explains the author s heartbroken grief by including the audience to do
something which we all know is not possible, Stop all the clocks. This itself let us know that time
could not be stopped, yet when a loved one has pass it feels like at that particular time we don t want
to believe that the love of our life is gone. So we want the clocks to stop. The time could also signify
to the death and shortness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The funeral parade described in lines 7 and 8 serves to further represent both the importance of the
deceased and the grief caused by this person s death. The third verse, especially lines 9, 10, and 11,
again bring the closeness of the relationship between the author and the deceased. The author shows
great respect for this person by using overstatement, figure of speech to imply how important this
person meant to the author. In line 9, He was my North, my South, my East and West, indicates the
intimacy between the two individuals and incorporated with the next line, My working week and my
Sunday rest, indicates their relationship to be of a very devoted nature. This is also stated in line 12, I
thought that love would last forever: I was wrong. This can be interpreted to represent the speaker s
unawareness toward an inescapable death. The author s love for this man is very rare as he can
describe it, to the points of end of time. This love between them is so strong that anyone reading this
poem would believe their love will last forever, but as you read on you realize not until the death of
this person that he loved; was the realization made that this thing called love, like everything else,
must and will come to an end. The last verse mainly line 16 states the hopelessness of the

Drought As A Recurring Extreme Climate Event
Drought as a recurring extreme climate event can be defined from various perspective, including
meteorological, hydrological, agricultural and socio economic aspects. Materials and Methods Study
area Iran has an area of 1,648,000 km2, is situated in the south western part of Asia. The climate is
influenced by Iran s location between the subtropical humidity of the eastern Mediterranean area, the
subtropical aridity of the Arabian desert areas and its topographical features like presence of the
Zagros Chain and the Elburz Chain in the west and the north of this country respectively, two large
deserts (the Lut desert and the Kavir desert) in the central Plateau and intensive elevation variability
(from −25 m in coastal regions of the Caspian Sea to 5,600 m in central Elburz Chains) (Fig. 1).
Because of its geographical location and topographical features, Iran has a variable climate however
arid and semi arid climate cover the majority of this country. This climate characterized by long, hot,
dry summers and short, cool winters (Ganji 1968).The average annual precipitation in Iran is
approximately 250 mm (Moradi, 2004). The major exceptions are the higher mountain valleys of the
Zagros and the Caspian coastal plain, where precipitation averages at least 500 mm annually. In the
western part of the Caspian, annual precipitation exceeds 1,000 mm and is distributed relatively

Comparison Between Optical Telescope Systems And Modern...
Background knowledge:
The topic of this investigation is to compare and contrast three different optical telescope systems that
are used in modern day times. The three main telescope systems that will be focused on in this report
will be reflecting, refracting and cassegrain which is a combination of both and how different types of
error such as aberration effect the telescopes ability to capture an image and the quality of the image it
produces.
Reflecting telescopes use mirrors to reflect incoming light rays onto a secondary mirror which
magnifies it through an eye piece to form an image. (BBC, 2015)
When light rays come in contact with the mirror they are called the incident ray and then when the ray
reflects back off the mirror it is then called the reflected ray. As the light rays hit and leave the mirror
at particular angles these are titled angle of incidence and angle of reflection which can be seen in the
figure 2 below.
By the first law of reflection it is assumed that the angle of reflection is equal to the angle of
incidence. This would only be true for totally reflective flat surfaces.
When light rays come into contact with convex and concave mirrors parallel to the normal they are
reflected onto a focal point . To find the focal point of a mirror, the mirror formula can be used.
1/f=1/u+1/v
Where f is the focal length, u is the objects actual distance away from the mirror and v is the distance
the image is formed from the mirror.

Hemophili Genetic Disorders In Children
Case Study
When you see a child with bruises, you may think that they have gotten injured from playing soccer or
riding a bike or, in worst case, that they are suffering from physical abuse. However, in this case, their
son is getting bruises even at the slightest touch. He also has joint pains and frequently bleeds for no
reason. The following symptoms, make it clear that the parents did not harm the child. I will explain
why I feel this way.
Based on the information given, the child s probable diagnosis is Hemophilia. Hemophilia is a genetic
disorder that prevents blood from clotting properly. Clotting helps stop bleeding after a cut or injury.
Without clotting, a wound can bleed too much either internally or externally. ( Bleeding Disorders in
Children, n.d.) According to Griffin (Griffin, 2015) Hemophilia mostly affects boys (about one in
every 5,000 10,000). Girls who inherit the gene rarely get the condition, but become carriers of the
gene and may pass it on to their children.

Pornography Pros And Cons Essay
No Harm in Moderation: The Benefits of Pornography Pornography, sexual acts designed to draw
arousal from its audience recorded by some medium, is one of the largest industries in America and on
the Internet. Porn having such a prevalent position in society understandably evokes some anxiety and
questions about the harms of participating in the industry as a consumer. Using the Epicurean belief of
reasonable indulgence, I argue that these harms only come with overindulgence and when used in
moderation, pornography offers many personal benefits and positive contributions to society. My
argument will begin with a discussion of Epicureanism and its beliefs of pleasure as the greatest good
and of limiting desires. I will then follow this with examples of personal and societal pleasures and
advantages afforded by pornography when consumed within reasonable limits. Epicureanism revolves
around the pursuit of pleasure and avoidance of mental and physical pain with pleasure being
considered the greatest good and pain the greatest evil (Stephens 45). Its principles focus upon the
naturalness and necessity of desires, some of which have natural limits; desires without natural limits
are considered dangerous as they can cause anxiety and frustration, however, Epicurus encourages
indulging in these limitless desires on occasion within reason and the law (46 52). If the indulgence is
lawful, reasonable, and does not disrupt society, then there is no ethical problem with anything done

New Testament Reflection Paper
Transitioning to the New Testament which contains parables showing human attitudes were created in
the course of several decades, therefore it is much more coherent than the Old Testament, which was
created in the course of a dozen or hundreds of years. Jesus Christ taught parables. This made it easier
for people to understand what Jesus was teaching them. The parables were literal, applicable, and easy
to comprehend. It was a convenient way of transmitting information. An important parable that Jesus
told was the parable of the merciful Samaritan. A man was attacked by a couple robbers while
traveling. They beat him severely, however, no one came up to help him despite the fact that he was
being passed by many people including a priest and a Levite. Shortly, the only person that took the
man and helped him was a Samaritan. He was the one that showed mercy and helped the man in need.
God was pleased with the Good Samaritan. Within the New Testament, we also experience the love of
God that embraces all the people who believe in it, regardless of their suffering, nationality and
previous beliefs. By reading the whole Bible we can find patterns to follow and live by so that our
lives become better. By reading the parables and letters, we learn to look differently and we can even
gain a new perspective from the outside. The New Testament consists of four Gospels (Matthew,
Mark, Luke, and John). These Gospels contain narratives of life, the teachings, as well as the

the nineteenth and twentieth century there was the same connection between countries even

Communism In America
In the words of Abraham Lincoln, Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves.
Freedom has been a topic of many meetings of Congress over the past few centuries, as it is one of the
main American ideals that formed our great nation. However, in the last seventy years, there have
been many attacks upon the American people that instill fear in the hearts of many. Fear in a large
group of people leads to rash decisions that could eventually precipitate the loss of the common man s
freedom. Losing freedom due to fear shies away from all of the traditional American ideals of our
forefathers, one of which was opportunity and freedom of the common man. In the late 1940s and the
early 1950s, United States citizens were left in tumult when they caught wind of the impending

John M Barry Rhetorical Analysis Essay
Throughout the passage, John M. Barry uses a variety of methods to describe the process of scientific
research. The author gives us long metaphor where a scientific investigator is like a pioneer in an
unexplored region of the world. The author also gives us a little bit of background information on
characterizations needed for scientific research. Starting with the background knowledge and
miscellaneous information that gives us a better understanding of what goes on in scientific research,
Barry gives us a comparison between certainty and uncertainty. Describing certainty, the author uses
words with good connotation, Certainty creates strength. Certainty gives one something upon which to
lean. The words to be looking at here are strength and an action that can be done with certainty that
feels supportive. When describing uncertainty the author uses words with a bad connotation, sort of
making connotation seem the better option, Uncertainty creates weakness. Uncertainty makes on

a small policy analysis on this topic and regardless of how poorly the DNR has handled the issuing of

harvest numbers have been very consistent. It is viewed positively in the state. Georgia, Mississippi,

As displayed in the show, without these factors the fate of, not only the individual but, the group is at
stake. In this zombie infested world, the zombies themselves can be seen as a metaphor for the
Marxist criticism of capitalism. In a similar manner to that of which capitalism seeks profit for
individual s own sake, these zombies desperately pursue and starve for human flesh. The events that
occur in The Walking Dead can help illustrate the principles that Karl Marx and Marxism founded at
the time. Much like it is for the characters in the show, Marxism s ultimate priority is simply to
survive. However, much like the disease infesting the city of Atlanta, capitalism withholds a desire to
expand. It bases itself on risk, causing unnecessary obstacles for people to reach their end goal, which
should be to sustain themselves.
A major point made by Karl Marx seemed to be the abandonment of private property. For Rick s
surviving group the implementation of this concept is a must. In their zombie filled world it is
important that the survivors keep on the move and detach themselves from any useless items. The
group never settles, always residing in temporary homes like farmhouses, camps, shops, and prisons;
knowing that claiming private property could be a liability or futile.
Within the Communist Manifesto, Marx also encourages the abandonment of the family

Balanced scorecard is a measurement system that takes into financial as well as non financial

found that senior executives do not rely on one set of measures.
As mentioned above, the balanced scorecard consists of four perspectives and this measures link
together to create a tool for senior managers to assess the overall performance of the company. In

The strategy should be communicated to lower employees, so they have a clear target for actions,
decisions and improvement activities. Therefore information system plays an important role. With a
good information system, unfavourable results can be tracked to the person or activity responsible.
Hewlett Packard uses a metric called breakeven time (BET) to measure the effectiveness of its product
development cycle. ( Klapan and Norton, 1992 )
If companies can improve their operations and satisfy customers, they create a platform to penetrate
new markets or increase their existing market share. Other companies would prefer to manufacturing
new products rather than improving the manufacturing of existing products, it is important to achieve
stability in the manufacturing of new products. If the company chooses to improve the manufacturing

Hester Prynne
D.H. Lawrence, an English novelist and literary critic, pens his essay On the Scarlet Letter critiquing
the novel The Scarlet Letter and its portrayal of American society. Lawrence argues that Hester
Prynne, the novel s protagonist, is not a victim, but rather, the product of evil and sin in American
society. D.H. Lawrence is effective in portraying his harsh perception on Hester Prynne by the use of
clever diction, thoughtful allusions, and choppy syntax. The clever diction utilized by Lawrence in his
essay aid in achieving his purpose as a writer. D.H. Lawrence begins his critique by introducing his
cynical perspective that the greatest triumph a woman can have, especially an American woman is
seducing a man, especially if he is pure (Lawrence). This hyperbole helps to better communicate
Lawrence s view of Prynne throughout his analysis of her character. By making such a controversial

Lawrence s selection of choppy syntax communicates his stance on Hester Prynne. Through concise
alliteration, such as Adulteress! The great Alpha. Alpha! Adulteress! The new Adam and Adama!
American! , Lawrence demonstrate that Hester is not a worthy woman, but rather a poison to the
society she surrounds herself with (Lawrence). The repetition of referencing Hester as an adulteress
emphasizes the consequences of her sinful actions, which Lawrence wants to highlight for the reader.
Additionally, describing Prynne as the alpha , and Adama connects her back to Eve in the Garden of
Eden, who was the first human being to sin. In short, Lawrence wants to expand on the presence of
Hester s sin and its grip on her life. D.H. Lawrence continues this broken syntax as he writes, Flop.
Flop goes spiritual love (Lawrence). This onomatopoeia is a distinct contrast with the previous
passage that Lawrence writes which is lengthy and substantive. Prynne s choppy, shortsighted, sinful
path becomes the trajectory for which Lawrence parallels in his writing

The Chang Aa Brew
DAYSTAR UNIVERSITY PSYCHOLOGY (PSY 111T) GROUP PROJECT: CHANG AA THE
DEADLY KILLER. PRESENTED BY: ANGELA OMONDI KEVIN CHAVERA CHANG AA: THE
DEADLY KILLER. 1. Introduction Chang aa is a popular alcoholic drink commonly found in Kenya
and it was once illegal, but was recently legalized. According to online encyclopedia Wikipedia, the
literal meaning of chang aa is kill me quick. It is a clear liquor which announces itself with a fierce
burn and an after taste of soil when consumed. Chang aa is distilled from grains like maize and
sorghum. Other additives that are usually added to the drink during its preparation to make it have a
more lasting effect on the drinker are the ones which make it lethal. This paper will discuss ... Show

The Economist also reports that when the police recently carried out raids on chang aa dens in
Nairobi, decomposing rats and women s underwear were found in servings of chang aa. The writer
adds that the price and the potency of the drink are more tempting than the heavily taxed bottles of
beer that are the staple of richer Kenyans. The effects of chang aa are varied. They include blindness,
psychological effects, loss of control, rampant spread of HIV/AIDS, poverty, and in extreme cases,
death. Methanol in the drink is believed to be the one that causes blindness. Ten milliliters of methanol
can burn the optic nerve and the higher the dose, the more fatal the effects. Because of excessive
drinking of chang aa, the drinkers often lose control of themselves and engage in sexual relations
without protection, thus facilitating the spread of HIV/AIDS. Chang aa drinking also contributes to
poverty because the drinkers do not look after their families and the little money they get, they spend
on the drink. Joy Wanja reports that the women in Murang a are deeply saddened by the harm that
cheap liquors has caused to their sons and husbands. Money earned by the young men hardly reaches
home because they spend their wages on alcohol, leaving their children and wives in hunger and
desperation. Some high octane

  • 2. The Importance And Uses Of Wastewater Treatment Wastewater treatment is important in many ways. One reason that it is so important is because, at the plant, they water and other things as well. In the Middle Ages in London people had laws and regulations about waste treatment (O Neill, 2013). Without wastewater treatment most species of animals would be extinct because the water in lakes and oceans would be polluted with human waste. Wastewater treatment is important because it keeps the Earth clean, it recycles more than just water, and it saves animal species from becoming extinct. Wastewater treatment keeps the Earth clean because without it humans would not have a steady source of drinking water. Back in the Middle Ages people were concerned about water treatment. People were heavily fined if they were caught dumping sewage into the streets. Instead, the people would take their buckets filled with raw sewage and dump it into nearby rivers and streams. This was extremely unsanitary. The bacteria, or decomposers, would break down the waste but there was so much that it took a long time. The people didn t know how disease was spread by waste. They thought that it was by its odors (O Neill, 2013). People who owned larger houses had people come and clean their enclosed latrines. Even further back, the Aztecs had a waste system where all of the human waste would be used as fertilizer for their crops (Medina, 2014). Then the saprophytic bacteria would do the rest, consuming the decomposing matter. Saprophytic bacteria ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Objective Racism Objective Racism: An essay on how segregation affected the USA, and its lingering effect on the nation The United States of America is one of the best countries in the world. The country considers its start as a nation to be 1776, and since then, America has stood for freedom all around the world. The USA has had military supremacy for years; considered one of the only superpowers in the world currently. Most importantly, however, is that it is a melting pot of different ethnic groups and cultures. Sadly, most places in America do not contain this important standard of no prejudice. After the Plessy v. Ferguson case, subtle racism became more abundant throughout the south, and although the government resolved main problem in the 60 s, racism still abides on both ends today. In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln issued the emancipation proclamation. This act freed thousands of slaves, and enacted the abolition of slavery after the north won the Civil War. In 1883, the Supreme Court ruled against this amendment, they ruled that, The 14th Amendment did not give Congress authority to prevent discrimination by private individuals. In everyday life though, justice is seen as an attribute of law, while all laws are not necessarily just. Many great socio political movements of the world have focused from time to time on unjust laws eg Apartheid laws in South Africa and Caste laws in India. The two principles of justice that such people choose are: 1. Each person is to have an equal right to the most extensive liberty compatible with a similar liberty to others. 2. Social and economic inequalities are to be arranged so that they are both a) to the greatest benefit of the least advantages b) attached to offices and positions open to all under conditions of fair equality and opportunity. These principles are arranged by Rawls in a specific order and are subject to the priority rule, ie the first principle has to always precede the second and 2a should always come before 2b. Rawls commitment to equality, his passionate defense of liberty and his acceptance of inequality only when it brings advantages to the least advantaged are the basic principles of his theory. The continuous state $x$ denotes the degradation level of the equipment and can have any value from interval $[0,100]$. The outputs will be observed degradation level and observed mode. The $y_2in{mathrm{OK},mathrm{FAULTY},mathrm{BROKEN}}$ is again observed (or estimated) mode, e.g. from some fault detection engine in place which itself aggregates and transforms sensor readings into this one discrete signal. The outputs are subject to sensor noise etc., so they do not perfectly correlate with the true system state. He claims the highest good is happiness, and the way to obtain it is through the use of reason. In order to better comprehend Aristotle s ideas regarding happiness, we will explain his conception of eudaimonia and excellence through rational activity. Then, we will examine this concept of rational activity in relation to the aristotelian concept of self sufficiency. At the end of the Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle offers a seemingly divergent point of view. However, we will argue that these final reflections on happiness describe the best way to experience a good life. All individuals are in search of some good. Every one of our actions, skills and choices has an aim, and this aim is defined as the good of that particular activity (1094a1 3). While these activities are distinct, some may be classed into broader faculties. For example, ethics, metaphysics, aesthetics, logic and epistemology are all activities that fall under the more general faculty of philosophy. As a result, the individual ends of the former all work towards the superior good of the latter. (1094a9 16). Since then, the idea of approved extra martial affairs have become even more popular, despite the uneducated critics hollering about it being an insult to the institution of marriage, or a way to justify cheating on one s significant other. As open marriages start to become a more feasible option for couples looking to explore their sexuality, a common question always seems to come up; this inquiry, in fact, will be the purpose of the following text. To begin, I use examples from the 2004 biographical film Kinsey, directed by Bill Condon and produced by Gail Mutrux. While integrating discussion from Tristan Taormino and her book Opening Up: A Guide to Sustaining Open Relationships, I introduce the concept of sociosexuality with the help of Lars Penke s Sociosexual Orientation Inventory. In creating discussion with the above names, I aim to demonstrate just what does make for a successful open relationship. In the film Kinsey (Condon Mutrux, 2004), there is a clear divide between what constitutes a successful and unsuccessful open relationship. Alfred Kinsey and his wife Clara Macmillan both engage in extramarital affairs, yet remain close physically, emotionally, and sexually. • 25. Analysis Of Stop All The Clocks W. H. Auden s poem, Stop all the clocks, expresses the meaning of massive grief, a tragic loss, and a tireless hopelessness best represented in the last lines, For nothing now can ever come to any good. Personally the mood of the poem felt a bit depressing and a sadness that I know all too well. The title and first line of the poem explains the author s heartbroken grief by including the audience to do something which we all know is not possible, Stop all the clocks. This itself let us know that time could not be stopped, yet when a loved one has pass it feels like at that particular time we don t want to believe that the love of our life is gone. So we want the clocks to stop. The time could also signify to the death and shortness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The funeral parade described in lines 7 and 8 serves to further represent both the importance of the deceased and the grief caused by this person s death. The third verse, especially lines 9, 10, and 11, again bring the closeness of the relationship between the author and the deceased. The author shows great respect for this person by using overstatement, figure of speech to imply how important this person meant to the author. In line 9, He was my North, my South, my East and West, indicates the intimacy between the two individuals and incorporated with the next line, My working week and my Sunday rest, indicates their relationship to be of a very devoted nature. This is also stated in line 12, I thought that love would last forever: I was wrong. This can be interpreted to represent the speaker s unawareness toward an inescapable death. The author s love for this man is very rare as he can describe it, to the points of end of time. This love between them is so strong that anyone reading this poem would believe their love will last forever, but as you read on you realize not until the death of this person that he loved; was the realization made that this thing called love, like everything else, must and will come to an end. Materials and Methods Study area Iran has an area of 1,648,000 km2, is situated in the south western part of Asia. The climate is influenced by Iran s location between the subtropical humidity of the eastern Mediterranean area, the subtropical aridity of the Arabian desert areas and its topographical features like presence of the Zagros Chain and the Elburz Chain in the west and the north of this country respectively, two large deserts (the Lut desert and the Kavir desert) in the central Plateau and intensive elevation variability (from −25 m in coastal regions of the Caspian Sea to 5,600 m in central Elburz Chains) (Fig. 1). Because of its geographical location and topographical features, Iran has a variable climate however arid and semi arid climate cover the majority of this country. This climate characterized by long, hot, dry summers and short, cool winters (Ganji 1968).The average annual precipitation in Iran is approximately 250 mm (Moradi, 2004). The major exceptions are the higher mountain valleys of the Zagros and the Caspian coastal plain, where precipitation averages at least 500 mm annually. • 27. Comparison Between Optical Telescope Systems And Modern... Background knowledge: The topic of this investigation is to compare and contrast three different optical telescope systems that are used in modern day times. The three main telescope systems that will be focused on in this report will be reflecting, refracting and cassegrain which is a combination of both and how different types of error such as aberration effect the telescopes ability to capture an image and the quality of the image it produces. Reflecting telescopes use mirrors to reflect incoming light rays onto a secondary mirror which magnifies it through an eye piece to form an image. (BBC, 2015) When light rays come in contact with the mirror they are called the incident ray and then when the ray reflects back off the mirror it is then called the reflected ray. As the light rays hit and leave the mirror at particular angles these are titled angle of incidence and angle of reflection which can be seen in the figure 2 below. By the first law of reflection it is assumed that the angle of reflection is equal to the angle of incidence. This would only be true for totally reflective flat surfaces. When light rays come into contact with convex and concave mirrors parallel to the normal they are reflected onto a focal point . To find the focal point of a mirror, the mirror formula can be used. 1/f=1/u+1/v Where f is the focal length, u is the objects actual distance away from the mirror and v is the distance the image is formed from the mirror. Pornography Pros And Cons Essay No Harm in Moderation: The Benefits of Pornography Pornography, sexual acts designed to draw arousal from its audience recorded by some medium, is one of the largest industries in America and on the Internet. Porn having such a prevalent position in society understandably evokes some anxiety and questions about the harms of participating in the industry as a consumer. Using the Epicurean belief of reasonable indulgence, I argue that these harms only come with overindulgence and when used in moderation, pornography offers many personal benefits and positive contributions to society. My argument will begin with a discussion of Epicureanism and its beliefs of pleasure as the greatest good and of limiting desires. I will then follow this with examples of personal and societal pleasures and advantages afforded by pornography when consumed within reasonable limits. Epicureanism revolves around the pursuit of pleasure and avoidance of mental and physical pain with pleasure being considered the greatest good and pain the greatest evil (Stephens 45). Its principles focus upon the naturalness and necessity of desires, some of which have natural limits; desires without natural limits are considered dangerous as they can cause anxiety and frustration, however, Epicurus encourages indulging in these limitless desires on occasion within reason and the law (46 52). If the indulgence is lawful, reasonable, and does not disrupt society, then there is no ethical problem with anything done ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. New Testament Reflection Paper Transitioning to the New Testament which contains parables showing human attitudes were created in the course of several decades, therefore it is much more coherent than the Old Testament, which was created in the course of a dozen or hundreds of years. Jesus Christ taught parables. This made it easier for people to understand what Jesus was teaching them. The parables were literal, applicable, and easy to comprehend. It was a convenient way of transmitting information. An important parable that Jesus told was the parable of the merciful Samaritan. A man was attacked by a couple robbers while traveling. They beat him severely, however, no one came up to help him despite the fact that he was being passed by many people including a priest and a Levite. Shortly, the only person that took the man and helped him was a Samaritan. He was the one that showed mercy and helped the man in need. God was pleased with the Good Samaritan. Within the New Testament, we also experience the love of God that embraces all the people who believe in it, regardless of their suffering, nationality and previous beliefs. By reading the whole Bible we can find patterns to follow and live by so that our lives become better. By reading the parables and letters, we learn to look differently and we can even gain a new perspective from the outside. The New Testament consists of four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John). Freedom has been a topic of many meetings of Congress over the past few centuries, as it is one of the main American ideals that formed our great nation.
