The Junction
Introduction
The area I have chosen for this report is the center section of The Junction . The Junction is located on
Dundas St. W between Runnymede Road and Keele Street, but for this report, I will be focusing on
the section between St. John s Place and Pacific Avenue. The Junction dates back to the 19th century
and is known for its railway tracks. It has been its own independent village until it joined the City of
Toronto in 1909 [1]. Today, the Junction still has a charming historical aura with many of its original
historic buildings while it continues to develop as a thriving modern community.
The Local Scale
Gentrification is a serious problem for many communities. Fortunately, it has not occurred in this area
and correspondingly, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This area was first home to a strong European population, especially the Maltese. But as time
progressed, many historical events occurred and new transportation technologies were introduced
(Massey s concept of time space compression), more immigrants started to settle in the Junction [6].
Currently, approximately 29% of the population are from visible minority, mostly Chinese and South
Asians [2]. As a result, the Junction became more multicultural and it is reflected in our local
businesses, examples includes: The North of Bombay an Indian restaurant and Pho Huong and Ro
House restaurants which serve Vietnamese delicacies. Additionally, with the development of new
transportation and communication technologies, it has enabled the Junction to connect with the rest of
the world [6]. For example, the grocery stores have fruits from all over American, and many of stores
use and sell products that are manufactured from oversea. Furthermore, the easiness to share
information and to travel attracts and informs people everywhere about the Junction, making it more
thriving and busy than it already is. For example, the Junction is so well known that even the New
York Times has recognized it as a hip and stylish community

Salt Spring Island Research Paper
This is a brief introduction about the place where I m living at this moment: Salt Spring Island.
I will talk about the Island and the people as far as I am able, given my short residence here (I just
arrived 4 months ago).
The Island is located in the Gulf Islands, in the Juan de Fuca Strait between Vancouver and Victoria in
British Columbia, Canada.
Warm weather, virgin nature, beautiful beaches, and colorful people make this place very unique.
The most recent census of the island reports almost 10,000 permanent residents. This number
increases during the summer with lots of tourists and temporary residents.
Most of the people who moved to the island in the 60 s and 70 s were peace activists: U.S. draft
dodgers refusing to serve in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It`s a good place to discover yourself, thus many visitors come to get inspired by the people living
here. There is a special healing energy that you can breathe in everywhere.
The cultural life is surprisingly rich for such a small community; there is a film festival in March,
many concerts and events at the Artspring, a modern theatre. The cinema is located in an old Church,
which is very charming.
There are very interesting and open minded people to talk to everywhere: in the coffee shops, waiting
in the post office line, or walking on a beach.
Saturday s Market is always well attended by locals, tourists and even people from other parts of BC;
you can find incredible produce there as the island has more than 110 farms, most of which are
organic. Moreover, artisan cheeses, breads, beers, and specialty foods can be purchased from the local
artisans. Paintings, sculptures, woodcarvings, pottery, jewelry, bees wax candles and handmade
clothing are also available for

___________________________________ Vickie Lee Roach was a prisoner whose ability to vote
had been taken away by Commonwealth legislation. She argued that the legislation breached her
constitutional rights and argued her case in the High Court. Roach s disqualification from voting

Both the judges also banned under 21 and most women not to vote, many states imposed property or

governments, and the parliamentary establishment as a whole, with substantial flexibility to wind back
voting rights. The outcome of the case was successful, for the legal system in terms of recognising that
there is constitutionally protected right to vote in Australia. Although Vickie Lee was in prision for

Advantages Of Pesticides In Agriculture
M. Salman Anwar Research Proposal
Title:
BIODEGRADATION OF PESTICIDES IN SOIL ENVIRONMENT
Introduction:
Wise use and preservation of the soil recourses of a country can transform a poor society into a
prosperous one (Miller and Donahue 1992)
Agriculture is a key sector in the world economy where the competition between the countries is of
great importance in terms of the production. It also contributes about 25% of GDP of Pakistan and
provides livelihood directly to 70% of its rural population. In these conditions, pesticides are
commonly used to reach a definite quantity and quality of agricultural productions. Their generalised
use is attributed to (i) increase the quantitative and qualitative yields (ii) limit the irregularities of crop
production linked to the great parasitic catastrophe (iii) protect the food reserves and many more. It
has been estimated that about 3000 5000 tones of pesticides are used predominately only in Cotton
growing areas of Pakistan (ESCAP Virtual Conference June 16, 2007). According to a report of IFEN,
pesticides are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Previous studies concerning the pesticide degradation highlighted the microbial degradation as a
primary mechanism of pesticide dissipation from the soils (Cox et al., 1996; Pieuchot et al., 1996).
Along with this degradation of pesticide, these micro organisms also perform many other beneficial
functions like decomposition of organic matter, release of certain enzymes and plant growth
regulators, with having no destructive impact on soil fertility and structure that some more vigorous
conventional technologies may have, such as acid extraction and soil washing. So Biodegradation
should be used to reduce increased soil and underground water pollution caused by excessive use of

The Day I Go To Jail
Why are you surprised? What would you expect from a person like me. My parents abandoned me
when I was 16. I was of my own and had to fend for myself in the City of Cleveland. I had no
money,no home, and no direction. I had no one to take care of me. One day I decided I had to do
something in order to change my situation, and I didn t care what the consequence would be. While
walking back to the alley where I slept and kept my belongings, I had passed a dry cleaners. I decided
at that moment this was where my plan was going to happen. Now I know, that if I was to rob the
little, old ladies dry cleaners, I would most likely get sent to jail for five years. However at that time I
didn t care because jail was better than what I had back ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the people garden, he was watching like a hawk. He cames up to me and said, Hey there, haven t ever
seen you around here before. My name is Sam. You seem like you are looking for someone. Yeah, I
am. I am looking for a little old lady, she runs the dry cleaners down the street. Oh you must be talking
about Sae Young. Did you hear that she had gotten robbed a couple years back? She ain t really come
out of her house that much because of it. This just confirmed even though I already knew how my
actions changed someone s life so dramatically. I felt at that moment I had no choice but to admit that
to Sam that I was the one who robbed Sae Young. After I told Sam, I expected him to run just like Sae
young or grab me but he didn t. He said that it was a brave thing for me to admit and that I obviously
seemed remorseful and horrible about what I had done, but that I had changed. He said that it was
important for me to try to talk to her because it could make such a difference in her life. Sam told me I

The National Missile Defense System is the First Step to Another Cold War and the United States
Should Not Do It
As we begin the twenty first century, an increasing number of states around the world are acquiring
nuclear capabilities. The sense of insecurity by individual governments is driving many states into
developing and testing ballistic missiles. In the mean time, the United States finds itself in a position
to develop new technology that will protect themselves against these potential missile strikes. The
development of a national anti ballistic missile defense system has sparked many controversies around
the United States. Advocates of the system argue that it is only a defensive measure, but they fail to

Disturbed by the Rumsfeld report, Capital Hill responded immediately by passing two bills. The first
bill known as S. 257 stated, It is the policy of the United States to deploy as soon as is technologically
possible an effective National Missile Defense system capable of defending the territory of United
States against limited ballistic missile attack . The S.257 was followed by a second bill named H.R. 4
passed in March of 1999 that stated, It is the policy of the United States to deploy a national missile
defense. (Policy.com)
The proposal of the National Missile Defense System by Capitol Hill is a clear example of the
international security dilemma, where the United States desire to become more secure compromises
other states security. By setting up a missile defense to escape the power of other states, this will only
create insecurity in the international arena that will prompt other states to react with their own missile
defense system. This dynamia can also be seen through the prisoner s dilemma diagram (Figure 1).
The United States fears for the worst possibility so it arms itself to increase its protection. It does not
trust the other players in the international community and does not want to

I am new to the hobby of keeping and maintaining an aquarium. My boyfriend, Andrew, gave me an
aquarium for my birthday two months ago. I was very excited. When I was little, my family had two
goldfish in a small, round bowl. Watching my mother clean out the tank was the extent to which I
knew how to care for fish. The aquarium that Andrew gave me is an Eclipse 6; a six gallon aquarium
equipped with a bio wheel filtration system. The bio wheel system is a three step filtration system: the
water is sucked out of the aquarium into a tube, passed along a carbon filter, and then into a chamber
that houses a bio wheel a small rotating filter that absorbs impurities from the water. Finally, the water

It was very hard at first but I finally caught on. The first challenge that I had to overcome was the
intimidation factor that the computer and the Internet caused. I was constantly worried that I would
inadvertently damage a program, or a file, and I was therefore hesitant and apprehensive. I realized
that allowing myself to experiment with things was the only way that I would truly learn to get around
the web.
And the search began. Since I was not familiar with what was available to people on the Internet, I
began playing around while searching for my topic of interest: aquariums. I searched the web by
typing key words in a search engine like Yahoo or Lycos. This took me to several sites on the topic of
fish keeping. I ran across the FAQ s web site called The Aquaria. This site gave me tons of helpful
information regarding the steps I needed to follow to start up and keep a healthy aquarium. I learned
that the gravel should be rinsed thoroughly before going into the tank something I had not done and,
thinking back, how I introduced disaster into my first attempts at setting up a tank. I also learned that
the aquarium needed to run for at least a week without any fish in it so that the many levels of
chemicals in the water could have a chance to stabilize. After looking at several other sites, I finally
felt that I too could keep a healthy aquarium and

Black Lives Matter ( Blm )
Introduction
Black Lives Matter (BLM) is a loosely‐coordinated, nationwide movement dedicated to ending police
brutality that rose to prominence in late 2014. It takes its name from a hashtag started by three Black
feminist activists Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza, and Opal Tometi but the movement and the hashtag
are not identical (Freelon, McIlwain, Clark, 2016). BLM has achieved national reputation through
their online and offline organizing, obtaining extensive news media coverage and glowing references
in music and entertainment television. Based on a horrendous incident that sparked a concern for a lot
of Black people across the world, the sudden need for a social movement was born called BLM. Black
Lives Matter is a national organization working for the validity of Black life and also working to
rebuild the Black liberation movement. Black Lives Matter broadens the conversation and highlight
the incidents around state violence to include the ways in which Black people are intentionally left
powerless at the hands of the state. This referring to the ways in which Black lives are deprived of
basic human rights and dignity. According to the article The Murder of Walter Scott, which talks about
race and class, African Americans are less than 13% of the U.S. population yet they are nearly 50% of
those killed by the police. North Charleston has a population of 104,000, 47% Black and the police
force is 80% white (Miah, 2015) .

The Impact Of Japanese Immigrants In America
Japanese immigrants and the following generations had to endure discrimination, racism, and
prejudice from white Americans. Two months after the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor, the
President Franklin D. Roosevelt authorized the United States government to forcibly removed
thousands of Japanese American citizens who lived on the West Coast. They would relocate them to
concentration camps in remote parts of Arizona, California, Idaho, and other states in the West
because of an unfair reason from white Americans due to fear and ignorance. The relocation of
Japanese Americans into internment camps was one of the most flagrant violations of civil liberties in
American history. Approximately, 130,000 Japanese immigrants were relocated to these interment
camps, lost their businesses, forced to give up their homes and assets in addition to their freedom.
Most of the population were long standing immigrants (Issei) who arrived before 1924 or American
born children of immigrants (Nisei) who were solid members of the community and loyal to their
country. The reasons for immigration to the land of opportunity called America in the early years of
this country are explicit. America was seen as a place where an individual could start over with an
equal chance of success or failure, provided jobs requiring arduous labor and it did not matter what
country that person came from. However, this was not the same for many of the Japanese immigrants.
One of the many challenges that Japanese

Wilson And Myrtle s Power In The Great Gatsby
Secrets can serve as powerful weapons, which Fitzgerald proves to be true throughout the novel and
Chapter Eight in particular. Daisy is the one driving the yellow car when it fatally hits Myrtle.
Although Daisy chooses to be with Tom over Gatsby, Gatsby still protects her. He lets Tom and
eventually Wilson think that he was the one driving, and Daisy does not tell anyone that she was the
one actually driving the car when it struck Myrtle. The only other person who knows who was really
driving the car is Nick, who does not tell anyone that Daisy was the one driving. Wilson is furious that
his wife is dead and also that she cheated on him, and seeks revenge for Myrtle s death. Wilson thinks

and was cheating on him with Tom. Wilson also thought that Gatsby was the one who was in a
relationship with Myrtle, and that he is the one who killed Myrtle. I find it interesting and disturbing
the lengths the characters went to either protect the ones they love, or to keep themselves from being
alone. Gatsby was in love with Daisy, and did not cease to protect her even after she chose to be with
Tom. He did not want Daisy to get in trouble for killing Myrtle, and would rather take the blame than
have Daisy face the consequences of her actions. However, I am not sure if Gatsby did this because he
loved her, or because he was still clinging onto the hope that Daisy would choose to be with him.

Judith Butler The Values Of Efficiency Summary
In Judith Butler s article The Values of Difficulty , in which she wrote in response to Denis Dutton s
article Language Crimes: A Lesson in How Not to Write, Courtesy of the Professoriate , she argues
that complex ideas require complex language to develop societal change and challenge common
sense. Butler shows how difficult language us useful, but I disagree with her overall claim. I do not
think that intricate wording is needed for a logical point to be made. Judith Butler wrote this article to
argue against the belief that scholarly writing is overcomplicated just to boast intelligence. Butler
begins by explaining how scholars, whose work topics focus on he humanities, are accused of bad
writing by the journal Philosophy and Literature. She believes that intellectuals in such fields should
explain how their work interplays in everyday life, but that these intellectuals should also create new
ways of looking at the world. A more socially just world would be possible if common sense were to
be challenged. Butler s definition of common sense is different than traditionally thought of. While
common sense may be defined as having good judgment in practical matters to most, she seems to
define it as an old way of thinking, stating that, Many quite nefarious ideologies pass for common
sense. For decades of American history, it was common sense in some quarters for white people to
own slaves and for women not to vote. (p.147) She thinks that for society to improve,

The Political System And The United Kingdom Essay
The political systems in the United States of America, and the United Kingdom are fairly different due
to several policies. The most predominant difference that could be deducted from their policies is the
difference in selecting their government. The United States base their elections off of what is known
as the Electoral College. The Electoral College is a process that was created by the founding fathers,
written in the Constitution. Not only is it a compromise made between the election of the President by
a vote in Congress, but also the election of the President due to popular vote of eligible citizens. In
total, there are 538 electors that make up the Electoral College. However, for the President to be
elected there is a required majority of 270 electoral votes that need to be won. If you obtain the most
votes within a state, then you will win the seats of that state that help the potential President to get 270
electoral votes. The way in which the number of seats in each state is decided is through
Congressional delegation; there is one for each member of the House of Representatives, and two
others for the Senators. The Electoral College is particularly interesting due to the reason that even if
you win the popular vote, you may not necessarily be elected as President. The most recent example
of this is the 2016 presidential election between democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, and republican
Donald Trump. Clinton did in fact receive more votes than Trump; however,

Essay on Columbus and Indians
Regarding the article, Columbus, the Indians, and Human Progress, Dr. Howard Zinn argues that there
is another perspective to consider as to Christopher Columbus adventures. Dr. Howard Zinn s position
is that history books have omissions of slavery, death and innocent bloodshed that accompanied the
adventures of Christopher Columbus. In the following statements Dr. Howard Zinn describes his
perspective; The writer began the history, five hundred years ago, of the European invasion of the
Indian Settlement in the Americas. That beginning, when you read Las Casas even if his figures are
exaggerations (were there 3 million Indians to begin with, as he says or 250,000, as modern historians
calculate) is conquest, slavery, and death. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were willing to trade everything they owned. They were will built, with good bodies and
handsome features. They would make fine servants.... With fifty men we could subjugate them all and
make them do whatever we want . In this quote, Dr. Zinn gives what he believed to be another
motivation of Columbus, which was the motivation to make the Indians into slaves for monetary gain.
Dr. Zinn believed this to be the motivation of what he termed the Europe of the Renaissance . Dr Zinn
states; theses traits, speaking of the Arawak, did not stand in the Europe of the Renaissance,
dominated as it was by the religion of popes, the government of kings, the frenzy for the money that
marketed Western civilization and its first messenger to the Americas, Christopher Columbus.
Dr. Zinn references numerous accounts of innocent bloodshed, cruelty and the enslavement of Indians
by Columbus and his soldiers from De Las Casa s books prior to Columbus return to Spain. Dr. Zinn
records the following statements from De Las Casa book in which he says; Endless testimonies ...
prove the mild and pacific temperament of the natives. But our work was to exasperate, ravage, kill,
mangle and destroy; small wonder, then, if they tried to kill one of us now and then.... The admiral, it
is true, was blind as those who came after him, and he was so anxious to please the King that he

Varying Methods To Improve Facets and Overall Methods of CPR
Since its development in the early 1950s, CPR has become the cornerstone for cardiac arrest
treatment. Incorporating a variating ratio of chest compressions and ventilations, CPR has consistently
demonstrated an improvement of outcomes when promptly and precisely administered to cardiac
arrest victims. The American Heart Association (A.H.A) provides constant guideline updates as more
current, more advanced research is made available. The most recent A.H.A update was released in
2005. At that time A.H.A introduced a new change in compression to ventilation ratios, switching
from 15:2 to 30:2. This was done with the intent of increasing oxygen perfusion to starved tissues in
adult victims. (1st Source) Their have been other innovative ideas about improving CPR, of which

However, everything changed once the election results began to favor Trump. I learnt of the changes
as I shared a meal with my friends after they voted. The terror and despair we each felt reminded me
of the hyper reality Baudrillard foretold in his works about the postmodern society. In Simulation and
Simularca, Baudrillard cites the evidentiary changes observable in the postmodern era, marked mainly
by the emergence of the simulation society (McQueen, 2014, p.8). The defining aspect Baudrillard
notes of this period is the subjection, acceptance and adaptation of the hyper reality presented in forms
of media, art and photography that ultimately define the culture of this period, effectively becoming
the means of discerning and prescribing codes and models that define everyday life for people
(Baldwin, 2015). He believed that the images and spectacles immensely mesmerize the media
saturated consciousness in postmodern society that the meaning behind the depictions becomes less
significant for the people and eventually dissipates into oblivion (Deuz, 2012, p.366). In essence,
media is increasingly becoming the dictator of reality for the postmodern society and Baudrillard
believed the only means of awakening people to this fact would be through an extreme representation
of reality to the point the

The True Meaning Of Freedom In The United States
Freedom? What is that? What is the true meaning of the word, freedom ? According to Webster s
Dictionary, freedom is the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action (Webster).
Even though that is the formal definition of freedom, others may their own meaning of the word
freedom . For some people, freedom is acting as one pleases. And for others, freedom is always
feeling joyful. For most, freedom plays a positive role in their life. When people have more freedom,
this generally means more rights, choices, and opportunities. In the United States, citizens have the
freedom to worship, congregate, speak, and vote. Americans often take these freedoms for granted.
Unfortunately, this situation is not the case in other parts of the world. Freedom has many years of
history, has many causes and effects, and has its own meanings of negation.
Unfortunately, millions of people worldwide lack the freedom they deserve. For instance, African
Americans faced significant racial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

African Americans were free, it felt like an increase in population. Jobs were being fulfilled,
friendships were being made, and the world was becoming a much happier place. Following the Civil
Rights movement, there were a number of events that fought for freedom in different ways.
Fortunately, many of them had positive endings. Like all other events, there are some negative effects.
One particular negative effect is not having another person tell one what to do, and that particular
independency may frighten some people. Even though some may disagree on the idea of freedom, it

Blackfish Documentary Analysis
Documentaries and perspectives To start talking about the blackfish Documentary. We have to know

Failures Of The New Deal
The New Deal was not a failure, it was only a limited success because it gave Americans hope and
created some improvement. The New Deal inspired hope into Americans and created some important
acts that are still in place today. Franklin Delano Roosevelt s had a plethora ideas for ending the
Depression. Roosevelt was willing to try anything to try and end the depression. Congress passed
many acts and there were fifteen major acts passed in the first Hundred Days of Roosevelt s
presidency. To think of new ideas Roosevelt took advice from people that had many different
backgrounds. The New Deal made Americans optimistic about progress towards the end of the

Why Is Flag Burning Illegal
Flag burning Johnny Cash once quoted the statement, I love the freedoms we got in this country, I
appreciate your freedom to burn your flag if you want to, but I really appreciate my right to bear arms
I can shoot you if you try to burn mine . Flag desecration became an issue in the early 1900s which
caused a controversy of whether flag burning is right or wrong. Some people believe that they have
the right to burn the flag and others believe that its is offensive. While some will say a flag burning
law will restrict their first amendment right, it is very disrespectful to those who risk their lives for the
country, it creates a controversy in the community, and it is an ignorant way to protest. Although
protesting divides the community

Professional Presence and Influence YOT Task 1 Hellen C. Adebowale Models of Health and Healing
Two of the three models of health and healing discussed by Dossey (1999) were Era II Body/Mind
Model of the 1950s and Era III Body/Mind/Spirit Model of the 1990s. According to Dossey (1999),
post World War II the Medical Doctors noticed that there was proof that the functioning of the human

Misconceptions In The Movie Glory
Were the Cinemas ready for Glory? The movie classic Glory released in 1989 wanted to capture the
harsh atmosphere of the Civil War from a different perspective (3). The perspective from a white
officer overseeing the 54th regiment of black soldiers. At this moment in History the emancipation
proclamation, written and passed by Abraham Lincoln, gave motivation towards the slaves and black
people to move north and fight for the Union. The Massachusetts 54th regiment became the first
regiment to employ black soldiers and give them a chance to fight for an opportunity at becoming
citizens of the United States. The true determination shown by the soldiers in the movie is really what

Surprisingly that just simply is not the case. Most of the men that joined, volunteered as free men from
the North. Most of these men have been dealing with stereotypes and slavery all their lives, and now
because of Abraham Lincoln, these men believe they have a something to fight for. The reason many
men volunteered was because of Lincoln s words and actions, it rallied the men in such a way that
motivated others to contribute to the cause of ending the war, white or black. Throughout the whole
movie, the men kept having doubts about their orders. They had to burn a village down to the ground,
watch one of their fellow men be flogged in front of them, and other things that did not help keep up
morale. Like I described earlier, the Civil War era was something Americans have not experienced, it
was total war. Regardless the regiment stuck together and kept training until their first battle. Up unto
this point, they have not had the chance to fight, they ve mainly been working on labor and building
projects. The men feeling uneasy, want to fight and they are tired of not getting the opportunity to
show themselves. Finally they get assigned to join the front in South Carolina. During the first battle,
Shaw is injured, but saves the man that saved him earlier in the movie and earns the respect of his
men. This scene/battle arguably was the motivation that would bring demise to the 54th

Hip hop began in the 1970s in the south Bronx of New York and served a cathartic purpose for the

Hip hop was created, the cathartic use has been abused through the increased use of misogynistic

Key Determinant Of A Parent Child Language
Background to the study
CRUCIAL DETERMINANT of a child s progress in language is the quality of the parent child
language interaction during the first three years (Hart
Risley 1995). Maternal behaviours such as maternal responsivity, contingency and stimulating
interactions have been found to be predictive of subsequent language performance of the child.
Optimal parenting behaviour is reciprocal, supports the child s interests and recognises the child s
need for autonomy (Landry et al., 1997; Murray
Hornbaker, 1997). Cognitive ability level in early childhood has been found to be associated with
stimulating and contingent parentinfant interactions (Olson, Bates Kaskie,
1991; Sylva et al., 2011). Children s preschool language performance can be predicted from the
quality of maternal involvement (Olson, Bates Bayles, 1984).
Maternal responsivity the way in which the mother provides for, interacts or responds to their child
creates an environment which has an impact on the language development of their child (Brady,
Warren Sterling,
2009; Hirsh Pasek Burchinal, 2006; Masur,
Flynn Eichorst, 2005). A large UK cohort study examined maternal responses rated at
12 months during an observed motherinfant interaction and found that positive maternal responses and
infant development were associated at 18 months (Pearson et al.,

In the early 1980 s, Denver experienced significant economic growth due to the booming oil, real

Stapleton Airport. Up to 1970, the Stapleton Airport was able to accommodate the demands of Denver
but in subsequent years it was unable to meet the ever growing needs of the city. The Stapleton Airport
was seen as a liability and limited the attractiveness of businesses that were swarming to it. Issues
with handling high traffic volume, disruptions in connection schedules, and an overall poor airport

While BAE was already working on United s baggage system, the PMT recognized the need for a
fully integrated baggage handling system for all of DIA. Since no other airlines were emerging with
plans to develop their own baggage system, airport planners and consultants drew up plans for an
airport wide baggage handling system and sent out request for bids to several different companies.
Initially BAE declined to bid on the project due to one main reason; the technology required to operate
a system of such a large size and complexity should be determined very early in the project life cycle.
BAE had the technology that was needed (destination coded vehicles moving at high speed) but
implementing this technology into such a complex project would have required much more time then
was available. Going against their better judgment, BAE presented the city of Denver with a proposal
to develop the most intricate automated baggage system ever built. The plan was to be very effective
in delivering baggage quickly, reliable in its operation, and extremely flexible. This type of system
would save ground time, decrease close out time for hub operations, and reduce time in sorting and
handling baggage. Although more expensive than an uncomplicated tug and baggage cart system,

Union organizers were dismissed and union meetings forbidden as indicated by Fossum (2012) who
writes that employers used security forces to police the workforce, forcibly kept out organizers, or
ferreted out internal union activists or sympathizers from the late 1800s to World War II (p. 196). The
fact that many US employers look down on, discourage, and blatantly combat unionization is not a
recent occurrence as successful organization thereof can result in decreased profits and inflated
personnel costs. Fossum (2012) argues that employers have long resisted attempts to unionize (p. 215)
and implemented various strategies to remain union free and greedily persist in their efforts toward
heightened profitability through utilization of unfair labor practices. Lawful Strategies for Union
Avoidance Although Hoffa and the Teamsters faced stark resistance from employers concerning
unionization, the resulting creation and evolution of employment legislation has since improved
working conditions and impacted the type of strategies implemented by employers to avoid
organization. Employers are taking more proactive and less historically barbaric approaches to address
employee job satisfaction and union avoidance. Godard and Delaney (2000) argued that traditional
collective bargaining agreements among unions have been replaced with innovative high performance

the complicated negotiations in Bali. President Yudhoyono aspired to acquire the United Nations
Secretary General s position for the 2017 to 2022 term, so the Pittsburgh twenty six to forty one

contributes to Indonesia s eagerness to get involved on climate change internationally is universal

international climate negotiations, following on from its diplomatic success with the 2007 UN climate

Indonesia is eager to address this global problem and has been very forward in expressing the vast

who could make something that could preserve food. So Nicolas Appert ended up inventing the

The National Liberation Army (ELN)
The National Liberation Army (ELN) was established July, 4th 1964 by college students and a group
of radical, Catholic clergy that were inspired by the revolution that took place in Cuba (Stanford,
2012). Since its inception, the ELN have had an ongoing rivalry with the Revolutionary Armed Forces
of Columbia (FARC), due to a constant power struggle between the two groups. The ELN operate in
Columbia additionally, they have ties to Cuba, as well as other Latin American countries. The
objective of the ELN is to topple the current Colombian government and establish a communist model
(Stanford, 2012). The ELN s motivation stems primarily from the revolution in Cuba, as well as a
large Catholic influence. Historically, Colombia has opposed the ELN and their attempts at gaining
power within the country. However, there has been corruption by government and military officials.
The corruption comes in the way of support for the ELN (Stanford, 2012). Regardless of the
corruption, the Colombian government is currently making strides to begin peace talks with the ELN
in 2014; however, no specific dates have been established. (Insight crime, n.d.).
The ELN operates as a paramilitary force with many different tactics, techniques, and procedures
(TTP s), like that of other guerilla forces. One primary offense tactic for the ELN is to employ
improvised explosive devices. In the past the ELN has used the explosive devices to bomb oil
pipelines as a show of force (Insight Crime, n.d.).

The rationale behind this is that high risk weights associated with commercial property loans and
mortgage serving assets have led to quitting business by small banks ( Regulating America s banks ,
2017). Based on the issue discussed in this article whereby households are making fewer borrowings
due to much regulations imposed by the Dodd Frank act `s Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
making borrowing stringent due to many requirements and higher lending rates that make the
households to shun from taking mortgage loans, it is imperative to make changes to the national
budget so as to stimulate lending. Accordingly, the national budget should cut taxation on a financial
institution, especially on the mortgage. This will, in turn, compel the financial institutions to also
lower their lending rates to their customers. This will stimulate more borrowing from the households
who will, in turn, invest their borrowed amount in viable projects that will stimulate the economic
growth. Nonetheless, this lending ought to be monitored so that the money borrowed is invested in
worthy projects that can produce significant returns and also to avoid the effect of inflation. Besides,
the national budget should cut down on taxes charged on construction materials. This will enable the
investors to invest in real estate by either using their savings or by borrowing from financial
institutions. The aggregate effect will be economic growth and increased Gross Domestic Product. The

What Make An American Essay
Throughout history, many countries have had tyrannical, corrupt, control of its citizens, either through
religion or a long line of greedy ambitious rulers. America, the new world, has changed that. By
fighting for liberty and becoming independent from European powers, America showed its instinct
originality from the rest of the world. Together, each American citizen has their own right to
individuality, right to pursue anything they seem fit, and roots tying them into who they are. These are
what make an American. Freedom of speech, religion, possessions are all in the very first amendment
of the American Constitution stating Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of
religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech[.] Giving the
people the power to freely express who they are individually. Whether that be religion, education,
travel, and the ability to uphold who they will grow up to be in the future. Loyalty, devotion, ambition,
expectation, willingness to go further, to pursue whatever seems fit and motivated to learn and to
grow, to go for what they believe in, to accomplish whatever task lay before them. Sense of self being
and right to choose. Many Americans go to school, college, to be something great like a Doctor, ...

What makes them unique and offset. Family ties to who they are whether that be African American,
Asian American, or Native American. What makes them dynamic, what makes special. America is
diverse, each with opinions, ideas, and beliefs. Together this is what makes America as a whole
powerful. As each individual citizen builds up America with cultural ideas and ways. Many
immigrants come from all over the world to come to America to seek its freedom and attain their right
to be who they are meant to be, but it always gives them a sense of who they already are and where
they come from that makes it

The National Aeronautics And Space Administration Essay
Since the dawn of time, the human race has gazed up at the stars, in both wonder and amazement.
Curiosity is one of the best traits that humanity possesses. It serves to drive us forward and seek a
more efficient way of using our skills that are unique to us. We as humans continued to evolve through
the millennia, and so too did our intelligence and understanding of our small world. We began to
socialize and congregate. We formed small tribes near local water sources as we left our caves. This
would spark some of the first cases of conflict among the human race damning us with a future littered
with warfare as we created a society of haves and have nots as nations and empires rose and fell. This
remains true even today, but our desire to explore and increase our knowledge has never diminished.
With that being said, we must re evaluate the established paradigm that the National Aeronautics and
Space Administration s (NASA) role in the Cold War. NASA did not exist for the sole purpose to beat
the Soviet Union into space and establish a monopoly of power in space. This was a byproduct. NASA
s genesis was a genuine intention to increase the knowledge of mankind. In many ways NASA can be
seen as a miracle of mankind because it was born out of a state of war, but evolved into an
organization shaped for peace and discovery. By looking at NASA, it is an exemption from the
warlike nature of the Cold War. We can observe this evolution from its wartime genesis, and its
transition

The World Wildlife Fund For Nature
In the future I would like to become a leader in my field, a leader in helping heal and preserve the
world we live in, particularly working with endangered species. Helping to maintain, and boost their
numbers in the wild, as well as possibly working on a preservation, where I could work closely with
others to ensure that my grandchildren will be able to see wildlife. THis being said I believe that the
World Wildlife Fund for Nature is the best place for me to be. The World Wildlife Fund for Nature is
dedicated to saving endangered wildlife, conserving and protecting ecosystems around the world,
reducing the impact humans have on the earth, and teaching humans to work with nature. There are
many offices around the globe in operation, so there is a large chance I would be able to travel while
working with the Wildlife Fund for Nature, but there is not one singular headquarters, although the
central secretariat which is a close to a main headquarters as the organization gets, is in Gland
Switzerland. There are many different important offices, one in every region. In North America, the
headquarters is in Washington DC. World Wildlife Fund is an international organization that has
employees, and volunteers throughout the world, as well as those people who donate money that
cannot physically help. There is approximately 6200 full time staff members, and roughly 5 million
supporters around the globe. Being that there are many offices and stations around the world, there

Neutral Bathrooms In Schools
In my junior AP Class, my teacher assigned us a project in which we would come up with an idea that
would improve the quality of our school, and then create a proposal that we would take to the school
board in hopes of getting it actually implemented into the high school. My group was made up of
roughly six other students, and we were working towards adding gender neutral bathrooms to the
school. The idea was mine, and was mine because it s an issue that affects me and many of my friends.
I am transgender, I identify as nonbinary, as neither a boy nor a girl. Having to choose between two
incorrect gendered bathrooms to use can sometimes be emotionally taxing, and stressful. The
bathrooms would help not only me and other nonbinary students, but also binary transgender students
who feel uncomfortable or unsafe in the other bathrooms. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People thought it was a waste of time, money, and resources. They didn t think that transgender
students deserved to have special privileges , they didn t want to expose people to transgender
students, they thought that cisgender students would use the bathrooms in order to have sex, they
thought that if a person was truly transgender, then they should be able to use their gender s bathroom
without a problem. There was a lot of ignorance and transphobia flying around that made writing our
proposal and plans difficult. We had to address everyone s issues with the idea, and I admittedly had a
lot of trouble dealing with

My Love Letter
The sole qualification for writing a love letter is that you feel the love and want to express it. That s
the beauty of it. But it would be trite and probably false to say that as an expat, I can love Canada
more truly (observe: Gord Downie). I think it interesting, however, that my love for Canada has grown
up become richer, more intentional and more constant since I left.
I moved with my family from Toronto to New York in 2014 to take a job teaching philosophy a
fantasy job, a world class city.
The months before leaving were a time of pre emptive nostalgia, but I thought the pain I was feeling
and its peculiar sweetness were for the rites of passage ahead. Leaving the city where my children
were born. Leaving my friends as they were leaving me, all leaves on the wind of the horrid academic
job market. Leaving my student days behind.
All that was real.
I was raised, as is any self respecting Northwestern Ontarian, to hate Toronto. But, I loved Toronto
passionately, completely. My husband, from Montreal and similarly brought up, was equally smitten.
Of course, it was hard to leave. Of course, it would be sad. We went back for my convocation at the
University of Toronto a few months after moving to New York and it was wrenching the geographical
version of seeing your gorgeous ex too soon after the breakup.
But two things happened that made me realize the bittersweet quality of our departing days wasn t just
about Toronto, or the life we had built there.

Purpose For A Retirement Plan
RETIREMENT PLANNING
CASE STUDY (PART 3)
Purpose for a Retirement Plan
Retirement Planning is the process of determining retirement income goals and the actions primary to
achieve those goals. It includes identifying the sources of retirement income, estimating future
retirement expenses, managing the assets and implementing a savings plan. A future cash flow
statement is prepared to determine whether the goals can be achieved or not. The primary purpose of a
retirement plan is to provide financial stability so people can leave their full time jobs after retirement.
Financial planning is a 6 step process and also examines 6 components. The 6 steps are as follows:
1. Establishing and defining the client planner relationship: The planner informs the client about the
services to be provided and defines his or her responsibilities along with the responsibilities of the
client.
2. Gathering client data and determining goals: The planner learns about the client s financial
situation, goals and risk tolerance. This primarily involves gathering all the data.
3. Analyzing and evaluating client s financial status: The planner analyses the client s financial
situation and determines what must be done in order to achieve the goals of the client.
4. Developing and presenting alternatives to the client: The planner provides the clients with various
alternatives to achieve the goals, based on the information provided by the client. The planner then
reviews the alternatives with the client

Virginia Woolf Research Paper
Virginia Woolf, born January 25th 1882, was an unorthodox British author and feminist who had an
immeasurable impact on women, those with mental illnesses, and the LGBT community. She was self
educated and even though her father a literary critic didn t condone women going to college he still
helped educate and influence Virginia. Woolf is believed to have revolutionized the english essay,
because she never learned how to write a set essay in school she came up with her own way. Virginia
Woolfs childhood was cloaked with chaos and darkness. Her father was very temperamental and
brooding. This only worsened after her mothers death in 1895 causing her father to withdraw into his
studies. Woolf had also been being sexually abused by her half brothers from her mothers previous
marriage. This abuse continued even after her mothers death into her young adulthood. Her mothers
death along with her sexual abuse was to highly conductive to Virginia; causing her to have her first of
many breakdowns at only 13. Virginia s father died ten years after her mother, shortly after Virginia
had another breakdown and made her first suicide attempt. There has been much controversy about the
causes of her chronic breakdowns. Some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She released her first essay and began teaching literature at Morley college. Virginia claims that if her
father lived she would have never became a writer. Woolf was very noncommittal towards marriage
and turned down various suitors. Beginning in 1910 Woolf became an advocate for Women rights.
Virginia liked to think of herself as very independent and in 1911 she rented a house which was a big
deal for the time period. The idea of women having their own space to create was exceedingly
important to her and so she wrote A Room Of Ones Own which is now considered a masterpiece of
political propaganda and the bible of what is called the second wave of the women s movement

  • 2. The Junction Introduction The area I have chosen for this report is the center section of The Junction . The Junction is located on Dundas St. W between Runnymede Road and Keele Street, but for this report, I will be focusing on the section between St. John s Place and Pacific Avenue. The Junction dates back to the 19th century and is known for its railway tracks. It has been its own independent village until it joined the City of Toronto in 1909 [1]. Today, the Junction still has a charming historical aura with many of its original historic buildings while it continues to develop as a thriving modern community. The Local Scale Gentrification is a serious problem for many communities. Fortunately, it has not occurred in this area and correspondingly, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This area was first home to a strong European population, especially the Maltese. But as time progressed, many historical events occurred and new transportation technologies were introduced (Massey s concept of time space compression), more immigrants started to settle in the Junction [6]. Currently, approximately 29% of the population are from visible minority, mostly Chinese and South Asians [2]. As a result, the Junction became more multicultural and it is reflected in our local businesses, examples includes: The North of Bombay an Indian restaurant and Pho Huong and Ro House restaurants which serve Vietnamese delicacies. Additionally, with the development of new transportation and communication technologies, it has enabled the Junction to connect with the rest of the world [6]. For example, the grocery stores have fruits from all over American, and many of stores use and sell products that are manufactured from oversea. Furthermore, the easiness to share information and to travel attracts and informs people everywhere about the Junction, making it more thriving and busy than it already is. For example, the Junction is so well known that even the New York Times has recognized it as a hip and stylish community ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I will talk about the Island and the people as far as I am able, given my short residence here (I just arrived 4 months ago). The Island is located in the Gulf Islands, in the Juan de Fuca Strait between Vancouver and Victoria in British Columbia, Canada. Warm weather, virgin nature, beautiful beaches, and colorful people make this place very unique. The most recent census of the island reports almost 10,000 permanent residents. This number increases during the summer with lots of tourists and temporary residents. The cinema is located in an old Church, which is very charming. There are very interesting and open minded people to talk to everywhere: in the coffee shops, waiting in the post office line, or walking on a beach. Saturday s Market is always well attended by locals, tourists and even people from other parts of BC; you can find incredible produce there as the island has more than 110 farms, most of which are organic. Salman Anwar Research Proposal Title: BIODEGRADATION OF PESTICIDES IN SOIL ENVIRONMENT Introduction: Wise use and preservation of the soil recourses of a country can transform a poor society into a prosperous one (Miller and Donahue 1992) Agriculture is a key sector in the world economy where the competition between the countries is of great importance in terms of the production. It also contributes about 25% of GDP of Pakistan and provides livelihood directly to 70% of its rural population. In these conditions, pesticides are commonly used to reach a definite quantity and quality of agricultural productions. Their generalised use is attributed to (i) increase the quantitative and qualitative yields (ii) limit the irregularities of crop production linked to the great parasitic catastrophe (iii) protect the food reserves and many more. The aquarium that Andrew gave me is an Eclipse 6; a six gallon aquarium equipped with a bio wheel filtration system. This site gave me tons of helpful information regarding the steps I needed to follow to start up and keep a healthy aquarium. I learned that the gravel should be rinsed thoroughly before going into the tank something I had not done and, thinking back, how I introduced disaster into my first attempts at setting up a tank. • 9. Black Lives Matter ( Blm ) Introduction Black Lives Matter (BLM) is a loosely‐coordinated, nationwide movement dedicated to ending police brutality that rose to prominence in late 2014. It takes its name from a hashtag started by three Black feminist activists Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza, and Opal Tometi but the movement and the hashtag are not identical (Freelon, McIlwain, Clark, 2016). BLM has achieved national reputation through their online and offline organizing, obtaining extensive news media coverage and glowing references in music and entertainment television. Based on a horrendous incident that sparked a concern for a lot of Black people across the world, the sudden need for a social movement was born called BLM. Black Lives Matter is a national organization working for the validity of Black life and also working to rebuild the Black liberation movement. Black Lives Matter broadens the conversation and highlight the incidents around state violence to include the ways in which Black people are intentionally left powerless at the hands of the state. This referring to the ways in which Black lives are deprived of basic human rights and dignity. • 10. The Impact Of Japanese Immigrants In America Japanese immigrants and the following generations had to endure discrimination, racism, and prejudice from white Americans. Two months after the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor, the President Franklin D. Roosevelt authorized the United States government to forcibly removed thousands of Japanese American citizens who lived on the West Coast. They would relocate them to concentration camps in remote parts of Arizona, California, Idaho, and other states in the West because of an unfair reason from white Americans due to fear and ignorance. The relocation of Japanese Americans into internment camps was one of the most flagrant violations of civil liberties in American history. Approximately, 130,000 Japanese immigrants were relocated to these interment camps, lost their businesses, forced to give up their homes and assets in addition to their freedom. Most of the population were long standing immigrants (Issei) who arrived before 1924 or American born children of immigrants (Nisei) who were solid members of the community and loyal to their country. The reasons for immigration to the land of opportunity called America in the early years of this country are explicit. America was seen as a place where an individual could start over with an equal chance of success or failure, provided jobs requiring arduous labor and it did not matter what country that person came from. However, this was not the same for many of the Japanese immigrants. One of the many challenges that Japanese ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Judith Butler The Values Of Efficiency Summary In Judith Butler s article The Values of Difficulty , in which she wrote in response to Denis Dutton s article Language Crimes: A Lesson in How Not to Write, Courtesy of the Professoriate , she argues that complex ideas require complex language to develop societal change and challenge common sense. Butler shows how difficult language us useful, but I disagree with her overall claim. I do not think that intricate wording is needed for a logical point to be made. Judith Butler wrote this article to argue against the belief that scholarly writing is overcomplicated just to boast intelligence. Butler begins by explaining how scholars, whose work topics focus on he humanities, are accused of bad writing by the journal Philosophy and Literature. She believes that intellectuals in such fields should explain how their work interplays in everyday life, but that these intellectuals should also create new ways of looking at the world. A more socially just world would be possible if common sense were to be challenged. Butler s definition of common sense is different than traditionally thought of. While common sense may be defined as having good judgment in practical matters to most, she seems to define it as an old way of thinking, stating that, Many quite nefarious ideologies pass for common sense. For decades of American history, it was common sense in some quarters for white people to own slaves and for women not to vote. (p.147) She thinks that for society to improve, ... • 15. The Political System And The United Kingdom Essay The political systems in the United States of America, and the United Kingdom are fairly different due to several policies. The most predominant difference that could be deducted from their policies is the difference in selecting their government. The United States base their elections off of what is known as the Electoral College. The Electoral College is a process that was created by the founding fathers, written in the Constitution. Not only is it a compromise made between the election of the President by a vote in Congress, but also the election of the President due to popular vote of eligible citizens. In total, there are 538 electors that make up the Electoral College. However, for the President to be elected there is a required majority of 270 electoral votes that need to be won. If you obtain the most votes within a state, then you will win the seats of that state that help the potential President to get 270 electoral votes. The way in which the number of seats in each state is decided is through Congressional delegation; there is one for each member of the House of Representatives, and two others for the Senators. The Electoral College is particularly interesting due to the reason that even if you win the popular vote, you may not necessarily be elected as President. The most recent example of this is the 2016 presidential election between democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, and republican Donald Trump. Clinton did in fact receive more votes than Trump; however, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on Columbus and Indians Regarding the article, Columbus, the Indians, and Human Progress, Dr. Howard Zinn argues that there is another perspective to consider as to Christopher Columbus adventures. Dr. Howard Zinn s position is that history books have omissions of slavery, death and innocent bloodshed that accompanied the adventures of Christopher Columbus. In the following statements Dr. Howard Zinn describes his perspective; The writer began the history, five hundred years ago, of the European invasion of the Indian Settlement in the Americas. Dr. Zinn believed this to be the motivation of what he termed the Europe of the Renaissance . Dr Zinn states; theses traits, speaking of the Arawak, did not stand in the Europe of the Renaissance, dominated as it was by the religion of popes, the government of kings, the frenzy for the money that marketed Western civilization and its first messenger to the Americas, Christopher Columbus. Dr. Zinn references numerous accounts of innocent bloodshed, cruelty and the enslavement of Indians by Columbus and his soldiers from De Las Casa s books prior to Columbus return to Spain. Dr. Zinn records the following statements from De Las Casa book in which he says; Endless testimonies ... prove the mild and pacific temperament of the natives. The terror and despair we each felt reminded me of the hyper reality Baudrillard foretold in his works about the postmodern society. In Simulation and Simularca, Baudrillard cites the evidentiary changes observable in the postmodern era, marked mainly by the emergence of the simulation society (McQueen, 2014, p.8). The defining aspect Baudrillard notes of this period is the subjection, acceptance and adaptation of the hyper reality presented in forms of media, art and photography that ultimately define the culture of this period, effectively becoming the means of discerning and prescribing codes and models that define everyday life for people (Baldwin, 2015). He believed that the images and spectacles immensely mesmerize the media saturated consciousness in postmodern society that the meaning behind the depictions becomes less significant for the people and eventually dissipates into oblivion (Deuz, 2012, p.366). In essence, media is increasingly becoming the dictator of reality for the postmodern society and Baudrillard believed the only means of awakening people to this fact would be through an extreme representation of reality to the point the ... The New Deal inspired hope into Americans and created some important acts that are still in place today. Franklin Delano Roosevelt s had a plethora ideas for ending the Depression. Roosevelt was willing to try anything to try and end the depression. Congress passed many acts and there were fifteen major acts passed in the first Hundred Days of Roosevelt s presidency. To think of new ideas Roosevelt took advice from people that had many different backgrounds. The New Deal made Americans optimistic about progress towards the end of the Depression. Roosevelt knew that in order for other acts to pass the banks can not be closed. The first bill that was passed was the Emergency Banking Relief Act. This act required licenses for banks that were financially sound. Advisers of Roosevelt told him that there was not enough regulations for banks and the stock market. Roosevelt agreed and backed the Securities Act and the Glass Steagall Act. The Securities Act created the Securities Exchange Commission which regulates stock trading and stops fraud and the Glass Steagall Act created the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation to provide government insurance for bank deposits. Surprisingly that just simply is not the case. Most of the men that joined, volunteered as free men from the North. Most of these men have been dealing with stereotypes and slavery all their lives, and now because of Abraham Lincoln, these men believe they have a something to fight for. The reason many men volunteered was because of Lincoln s words and actions, it rallied the men in such a way that motivated others to contribute to the cause of ending the war, white or black. Throughout the whole movie, the men kept having doubts about their orders. They had to burn a village down to the ground, watch one of their fellow men be flogged in front of them, and other things that did not help keep up morale. Like I described earlier, the Civil War era was something Americans have not experienced, it was total war. Regardless the regiment stuck together and kept training until their first battle. • 31. Key Determinant Of A Parent Child Language Background to the study CRUCIAL DETERMINANT of a child s progress in language is the quality of the parent child language interaction during the first three years (Hart Risley 1995). Maternal behaviours such as maternal responsivity, contingency and stimulating interactions have been found to be predictive of subsequent language performance of the child. Optimal parenting behaviour is reciprocal, supports the child s interests and recognises the child s need for autonomy (Landry et al., 1997; Murray Hornbaker, 1997). Cognitive ability level in early childhood has been found to be associated with stimulating and contingent parentinfant interactions (Olson, Bates Kaskie, 1991; Sylva et al., 2011). Children s preschool language performance can be predicted from the quality of maternal involvement (Olson, Bates Bayles, 1984). Maternal responsivity the way in which the mother provides for, interacts or responds to their child creates an environment which has an impact on the language development of their child (Brady, Warren Sterling, 2009; Hirsh Pasek Burchinal, 2006; Masur, Flynn Eichorst, 2005). Initially BAE declined to bid on the project due to one main reason; the technology required to operate a system of such a large size and complexity should be determined very early in the project life cycle. • 43. The National Aeronautics And Space Administration Essay Since the dawn of time, the human race has gazed up at the stars, in both wonder and amazement. Curiosity is one of the best traits that humanity possesses. It serves to drive us forward and seek a more efficient way of using our skills that are unique to us. We as humans continued to evolve through the millennia, and so too did our intelligence and understanding of our small world. We began to socialize and congregate. We formed small tribes near local water sources as we left our caves. This would spark some of the first cases of conflict among the human race damning us with a future littered with warfare as we created a society of haves and have nots as nations and empires rose and fell. This remains true even today, but our desire to explore and increase our knowledge has never diminished. With that being said, we must re evaluate the established paradigm that the National Aeronautics and Space Administration s (NASA) role in the Cold War. NASA did not exist for the sole purpose to beat the Soviet Union into space and establish a monopoly of power in space. This was a byproduct. NASA s genesis was a genuine intention to increase the knowledge of mankind. In many ways NASA can be seen as a miracle of mankind because it was born out of a state of war, but evolved into an organization shaped for peace and discovery. By looking at NASA, it is an exemption from the warlike nature of the Cold War. We can observe this evolution from its wartime genesis, and its transition ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The World Wildlife Fund For Nature In the future I would like to become a leader in my field, a leader in helping heal and preserve the world we live in, particularly working with endangered species. Helping to maintain, and boost their numbers in the wild, as well as possibly working on a preservation, where I could work closely with others to ensure that my grandchildren will be able to see wildlife. THis being said I believe that the World Wildlife Fund for Nature is the best place for me to be. The World Wildlife Fund for Nature is dedicated to saving endangered wildlife, conserving and protecting ecosystems around the world, reducing the impact humans have on the earth, and teaching humans to work with nature. There are many offices around the globe in operation, so there is a large chance I would be able to travel while working with the Wildlife Fund for Nature, but there is not one singular headquarters, although the central secretariat which is a close to a main headquarters as the organization gets, is in Gland Switzerland. There are many different important offices, one in every region. In North America, the headquarters is in Washington DC. World Wildlife Fund is an international organization that has employees, and volunteers throughout the world, as well as those people who donate money that cannot physically help. There is approximately 6200 full time staff members, and roughly 5 million supporters around the globe. Being that there are many offices and stations around the world, there ... • 45. Neutral Bathrooms In Schools In my junior AP Class, my teacher assigned us a project in which we would come up with an idea that would improve the quality of our school, and then create a proposal that we would take to the school board in hopes of getting it actually implemented into the high school. My group was made up of roughly six other students, and we were working towards adding gender neutral bathrooms to the school. The idea was mine, and was mine because it s an issue that affects me and many of my friends. I am transgender, I identify as nonbinary, as neither a boy nor a girl. Having to choose between two incorrect gendered bathrooms to use can sometimes be emotionally taxing, and stressful. The bathrooms would help not only me and other nonbinary students, but also binary transgender students who feel uncomfortable or unsafe in the other bathrooms. ... There was a lot of ignorance and transphobia flying around that made writing our proposal and plans difficult. We had to address everyone s issues with the idea, and I admittedly had a lot of trouble dealing with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. My Love Letter The sole qualification for writing a love letter is that you feel the love and want to express it. That s the beauty of it. But it would be trite and probably false to say that as an expat, I can love Canada more truly (observe: Gord Downie). I think it interesting, however, that my love for Canada has grown up become richer, more intentional and more constant since I left. I moved with my family from Toronto to New York in 2014 to take a job teaching philosophy a fantasy job, a world class city. The months before leaving were a time of pre emptive nostalgia, but I thought the pain I was feeling and its peculiar sweetness were for the rites of passage ahead. Leaving the city where my children were born. Leaving my friends as they were leaving me, all leaves on the wind of the horrid academic job market. Leaving my student days behind. All that was real. I was raised, as is any self respecting Northwestern Ontarian, to hate Toronto. But, I loved Toronto passionately, completely. My husband, from Montreal and similarly brought up, was equally smitten. Of course, it was hard to leave. Of course, it would be sad. We went back for my convocation at the University of Toronto a few months after moving to New York and it was wrenching the geographical version of seeing your gorgeous ex too soon after the breakup. But two things happened that made me realize the bittersweet quality of our departing days wasn t just about Toronto, or the life we had built there. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
