Gordie is the smart and sensible one of the group and devises a plan to go find the boy s body. Some
of the film techniques are short shot and long shot. A short short contains only one of the characters.
In the dog chase scene they used lots of film technique such as medium shot low angle and high angle.
The medium shot is a general, all purpose shot. Medium shots are used for dialogue sequences, and
they allow the viewer to pick up on the character s movements and gestures. Body language is
important to conveying emotion, and the medium shot remains close enough to capture that emotion.
The dog chase scene is about when the four boys stop at the junkyard to get some water and Gordie is
made to go to the shops to get some food and drinks. When gordie is coming back from the shop he
looks around and can t see his friends anywhere. When Gordie looks ahead he sees them jumping a
fence, he doesn t know what is happening but then he sees the junkman looking straight at him.
Gordie is scared and runs as fast as he can as the junkman s dog chases him, Gordie jumps the fence
and the junkman comes up to the boys on the other side and starts making fun of Teddy s dad.
When the boy s find the dead body they are shocked because they have never seen a dead body before.
Gordie realises that he no longer wants to be a hero as he feels sorry for the dead boy. The older gang
boys want to be the heros so they threaten Chris s life with a knife to his throat but his best

Canadian Football Game Analysis
There were no Canadian teams in the playoffs For the first time in 46 seasons, there were no Canadian
teams in the NHL playoffs. The last time this occurred was 1969 1970 season where there were only
12 teams in the league and two from Canada being the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs.
The league has grown to 30 teams (and is in the process of expanding), with seven of them being
north of the border. Although there are only seven teams representing the red and white, it surprising
to think that none of them qualified, considering that last season five out of the the seven teams were
in playoffs (except for Toronto and Edmonton). Each team had their reasons for why they didn t make
it. Toronto s first season under Mike Babcock was one to forget since they are in the rebuilding
process and finished 30th overall with 69 points. The Leafs also traded away star players Phil Kessel,
captain Dion Phaneuf, and James Reimer in order to start from scratch and create a new team identity.
They are looking to improve after securing the first overall pick in the upcoming draft and will most
likely take prospect Austun Matthews to help get them back to the playoffs after being out since the
2012 2013 season. Edmonton finished one point above Toronto and are still looking to make it to the
postseason after ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The team went from being a team who missed out on the playoffs last season to appearing in the
Stanley Cup Final, a notable turnaround under first year coach Peter DeBoer. The games were thrilling
considering two games went to overtime and neither team was blown out. In the end San Jose was
unable to match the speed that Pittsburgh had and Matt Murray was able to make the necessary saves
to win games and became the fifth rookie in NHL history to lead his team to the Stanley

12 Bar Blues Progression Essay
12 bar Blues progression is 12 measures long (I, IV, and V chords of a key). A bar is measuring the
music against its rhythm. A bar is a vertical line that is drawn through a musical staff. The rhythm is
usually one two three four. When you put stress on the two and four you get your blues progression
basic beat. Speeding up or slowing down this beat will set the tempo of the song. The theme is in the
first four line and then repeated in the fifth through eight lines. Then the closing four bars have the
original theme, but with improvisational endings adding up to twelve lines. This gives you the 12 bar
Blues progression.
In the introduction Armstrong starts with an improvise cornet solo over harmonium. On 0 14 the first
chorus starts with When I was Young... which is Bessie singing. When the final two measures of the
first chorus comes on 0 51 Armstrong does an improvisation with his cornet as a fill that indicates the
chord progression. Then the second chorus kicks in with then I am growing old which is Bessie
singing on 0 57. In the final two measures of the second chorus 1 31 Armstrong improvised a fill with
his cornet. One the first chorus Bessie repeats some of the vowels to give a more rhythmic sound to

Leadership Theory, Transformational, And Transactional Theory
Leadership Theories
Unit 3
PSF8603 Management and Leadership Theory
Instructor Steven Kline
Capella University
Ann Marie Cameron
Introduction
There are a few leadership theories, but for this research I will only focus on four of these theories.
The theories that will be discussed are Situational leadership theory, Contingency theory,
Transformational, and Transactional theory. The theory Transformational is pondered by several to be
the theory improvement for transactional leadership theory, and it appears to have a cumulative
number of research studies that are supporting the benefits of this theory. Because, in an ever changing
organization, there are many who suggest that maybe transactional and transformational ... Show more

This theory states that neither a transformational leadership model, nor a transactional model of
leadership is going to work all the time and in all situations.
Therefore, the philosophy of a leader should be flexible enough to adapt to situations and changing
times, and we will have to use a combination of transformational and transactional leadership
techniques to get the job done ( Pros and Cons of , n.d., para. 9). The rudimentary idea behind
Situational theory is that we need to adapt our strategy to the changing of conditions.
Contingency theory
The contingency theory is a theory that states that to be an effective leader we should rely on not only
on the style of leading but, on the control over a situation, so there needs to be a good leader member
relations ( Fiedler s Contingency Theory , n.d., para. 3), and must have a task in mind with a clear
procedure and goals, and the skill for rewards and punishments when needed. If these are not in the
right combination and context in any way will result in failure for the leader. This theory in general
state that effectiveness will depend on the nature of the task, situation, leader s personality, make up of
the group being led, and the factors involved.
Transformational theory
To use the transformational leadership theory, we need to understand what it is. Transformational
leadership theory is the process that

Disegno, which means drawing, was the most important element in attempting to achieve perfection.
Disengo was found not only in painting, but also in all areas of Florentine art. The importance of
nature in Florentine resulted in the study of the natural world, anatomy, and movement. Artists would
develop their concepts in detail on separate parchment paper and then transfer them. A work that
represents disegno would be Leonardo Da Vinci, The Fetus and Lining of the Uterus. Leonardo used
his technique of hatched shading and careful contours to create careful contours to describe volume
and movement in two artfully posed figures (Sorabella 1). His drawings placed sensitivity on shading
and the tones.
In Venice, artists used the colorito, defined as color, to create work with a sense of life. The color
palette used by Venetians was a slightly less vivid then Florentine palette, but the colors were layered
and blended to achieve a glowing richness. Venetian artists gradually softened their coloring until their
manner equaled nature. Venetians attempted to equal nature through the use of light and how light will
affect the body. And unlike Florentine painting, compositions were placed directly on the canvas
through colored brushstrokes. Titan s Venus and Adonis, is a good example of how Venetian artists
used color to recreate nature. Titan is able to create the mood through intense color and

The Baseball Team At Oklahoma Baptist University
Dear Mr. Davenport, Director of Athletics at Oklahoma Baptist University
As you very well know, Oklahoma Baptist University competes in twenty one varsity sports at the
NCAA Division II level. Every year, approximately 500 student athletes from all around Oklahoma,
the United States, and the globe come to Bison Hill to compete on one of those twenty one teams. As a
member of the Bison baseball team, I ve been very blessed to meet and play with a diverse group of
guys. Over the first couple of months that I ve been at OBU, however, I ve noticed a barrier that
student athletes place between their team and other students. Generally, most student athletes solely
hang out with their teammates of the sport they play. Now it s important for teammates to build
chemistry with one another, but at the same time it causes a feeling of division among other students.
The most effective way to solve this problem is by putting student athletes in a position to feel unified
with the rest of the university through activities that form and strengthen relationships, student clubs
and organizations, and groups that encourage growth in Christ.
Over the course of a school year, student athletes spend a majority or their time with their teammates.
In offseason, they might spend an hour or so with their teammates, plus another hour or two in study
hall with them. Whereas during season, they could spend up to a full day or two with their teammates
on a road trip. When athletes aren t on the field,

Essay on Racism, Racial Profiling and Segregation in America

As I walked into the State University Student Center one morning, a disturbing sight immediately
struck me. The sight that lay before my eyes was not only very disturbing but also very common at
State University. Although the Supreme Court in 1954 in Brown vs. The Topeka Board of Education

White supremacy and black inferiority have been an epidemic in our nation since the founding of our
country. Our country is said to be one of the greatest democratic countries of all time; nevertheless, we
have faced great problems such as slavery and unfair distribution of wealth. Our Constitution has
helped to shape one of the greatest democratic countries, but it can simultaneously be deprecated for
its promotion of institutional racism. People such as Thomas Jefferson, who owned slaves, wrote the
Constitution. As a result, our country was founded on white supremacist beliefs. Our founding fathers
were supposed to be drafting one of the greatest democratic documents ever written, but at the same
time they were taking away from blacks certain freedoms and unalienable rights, rights and freedoms
that they themselves had fought for against the British. Our founding fathers spoke of equality and the
right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, but at the same time, they owned slaves and viewed
them as property. Because slave owners such as Thomas Jefferson were our founding fathers, our
country was founded not only on the idea of democracy, but white supremacy.
Unfortunately, our country has had to struggle since the writing of the Constitution to amend these
ideas of white supremacy. Charles W.

The Impact Of Technological Change On The British...
Technological change was at the heart of driving the British Industrial Revolution over the late 18th
and early 19th century. A series of significant inventions such as steam engines, spinning jenny and
water frame had precipitated British economy s evolution from pre modern to sustained economic
growth. To explain the radical change in technology, two competing factors are highlighted in
literature. Economists like Sir John R.Hicks outlined that the real reason for the predominance of
labour saving inventions is surely that ... a change in the relative prices of the factors of production is
itself a spur to innovation and to inventions (). In contrast, Joel Mokyr argued that it was the right
combination of useful knowledge generated by scientists, engineers and inventors to be exploited by a
supply of skilled craftsmen in an institutional environment that produced the correct incentives for
entrepreneurs (Crafts, 2010, p155 156). By comparing the impacts of factor prices and institutions on
technological change in Industrial Revolution, the former is evidently more important than the latter.
Britain s peculiar wage and price structure was decisive in motivating dramatic technological change
over industrial revolution. The abundance of coal s supply made energy very cheap (Allen, 2009,
p82). Other than that, the relative price of labour to capital and energy had been surging from the mid
17th century (Allen, 2009, pp171 172). Due to the factor price structure of British

Obasan Theme Essay
Prompt: The most important themes in literature are sometimes developed in scenes in which a death
or deaths take place. Choose a novel or play and write a well organized essay in which you show how
a specific death scene helps to illuminate the meaning of the work as a whole. Avoid mere plot
summary. The novel Obasan, by Joy Kogawa, is a historical fiction novel that takes place in multiple
settings, yet they all have one thing in common: they were based mostly on War World II. Throughout
this novel, a frequently brought up topic is death: it s shown to be one of the main ideas in this novel,
both literal and figurative. The first death to be introduced was the death of Naomi s uncle, Sam. It
shows in the novel that uncle Sam is a big part of Naomi s life, as she grew up with him and Obasan
instead of her parents. The death of her uncle had been unexpected, as Obasan had said, There was no

Why I Started Middle School Essay
Whenever I first began middle school, I was well aware of the new and divergent obstacles I would
come across. The classes would become more advanced, teachers more strict, and lunches more
disgusting. During my 6th grade year, this change became clear. As my homework was piling up, so
was my stress. Balancing school, sports, and family time had never been an unchallenging task, but I
never have and never will let that be the reason for my grades to drop. The immense amount of effort I
put into school is one consistent quality I possess that will never disintegrate, as opposed to what one
teacher said. Sometime during my 6th grade year, parent teacher conferences were arriving. I was used
to them at this point. I was expecting my mom to come home from the conference and give me the
same report from my teachers as usual that I worked hard, received good grades, and was a well
behaved student. However, this time, I heard entirely different feedback. When my mom walked into
the kitchen that evening, where I was doing homework, she gave me a funny look. She was grinning,
but still looked puzzled.
Minorly concerned, I asked her, How did the parent teacher conferences go?
She quickly responded, Your sisters meetings went great, as usual.
Right after she said that, she went silent. I wondered why she was not mentioning anything about her
meeting with my teacher, Mr. Frick. I became very anxious, even though I could not recall a time
when Mr. Frick had gotten

Types Of Treatment For Anxiety Disorders
Introduction Anxiety disorders are distressing, and impairing conditions, associated with significant
social costs (Palazzo, Altamura, Stein, Baldwin, 2014). There are many different types of treatment for

published literature on health literacy about psychotropic medications. The study also includes some
difference between public beliefs and clinicians opinions. It is said that anxiety symptoms and
disorders often lead to the development of other mental and physical disorders. It was proved that
mental literacy is effective in encouraging a help seeking attitude. Unfortunately little is known about
how to enhance knowledge about psychotropic medications. Depression and an anxiety disorder in
young patients and in clinicians opinions showed that there are difference between public beliefs and
clinicians opinions. Norton, Abbott, Norberg, and Hunt (2015) studied mindfulness and acceptance
based treatments for social anxiety disorders. The advancement of mindfulness and acceptance has
been associated with psychological supplementary wellbeing. Individuals avoid or endure situations
with intense anxiety, which leads to impairment in life functioning.

Confucianism, Daoism, and Legalism
In ancient China, many different rulers tried to unify and rule the country using a variety of methods
Confucianism, Daoism, and Legalism to name a few. Each philosophy had its own set of rules of how
people should act both in public and privately. The overall goal of each philosophy was to set a
standard of acceptable living that would ensure harmony and success for the society. However, each
was different and thus had different results. The best way for the people of China to succeed in a
harmonious, respectable society occurred when both Confucianism and Legalism were combined.
Confucianism resulted from a Chinese philosopher named Kongfuzi (551 479 B.C.E), also known as
Confucius, becoming disheartened with the way the government ... Show more content on

If there is dissent and it is not dealt with using corrective measures, then the government, and thereby
society, will fall apart. One such example of this can be found in the Han Feizi document. It says, The
law alone leads to political order. If laws are adjusted to the time, there is good government. If
government fits the age, there will be great accomplishment. Therefore, when the people are naïve, if
you regulate them with fame, there will be good government; when everybody in the world is
intelligent, if you discipline them with penalties, they will obey. While time is moving on, if laws do
not shift accordingly, there will be misrule; while abilities are divers, if prohibitions are not changed,
the state will be dismembered...Indeed, if the state is orderly, the people are safe; if affairs are
confused, the country falls into peril...Yet everybody s likes and dislikes should be regulated by the
superior.
It is no surprise that the philosophy of legalism did not last long. Once the emperor died, people began
to dissent and voice their opinions of being treated in such a manner. The next emperor, Emperor
Gaozu of the Early Han Dynasty, determined that by combining Confucianism and Legalism would
ensure a more accepted and obeyed political system. By allowing the people to follow certain rules
that prescribed their status obligations while altering the laws created by Legalism, the society ran
more smoothly for

How To Stop Animal Cruelty Persuasive Essay
Animal Cruelty is becoming a very large problem that needs to be taken care of. Animal Cruelty is
largely in certain activities , such as circuses, dog shows, dog fighting, and even zoos. Although
people find this to be entertaining, interesting, and something out of the ordinary, it is still something
that is causing harm to these animals and needs to be stopped. These wild animals are still animals,
animals that have feelings, ones that don t deserve to be tortured. How would you feel if someone
locked you in a cage for the rest of your life, forced you to perform in front of crowds, whacked you
when you weren t doing what you were supposed to, hit you when you messed up? People watch dog
shows/ beauty pageants but don t realize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People that think these animals were meant to do this kind of stuff, that this is why they are bred, why
they are even here. Even places such as zoos, they consider being important, even if a lot of us totally
disagree on that matter.
Konwiser was a zoo keeper who was killed by a Malayan tiger. This animal was in confinement,
something animals should not be in, especially wild animals. You never know when one of those
animals are going to strike, they are wild animals, we don t know about the behavior of wild animals
as well as we do with animals that we have as pets. Animals in confinement are like ticking time
bombs, Carney Anna Nasser, a senior counsel with the Animal Legal Defense Fund, told The Post
hours after Konwiser died. (Milian Jorge)
Granted, a lot of these animals are born in captivity and wouldn t be able to survive on their own. That
also means that their parents were taken out of the wild and put into captivity, or that they are breeding
these animals. Which is also a very bad thing for these poor animals. For starters, Hanna said that 98
percent of animals kept at more than 200 zoos across the United States were born in captivity and
would find it impossible to live on their own. They don t come from the wild, Hanna said. (Milian

Spiral of Silence Theory
Spiral of Silence Theory Elizabeth Noelle Neumann s spiral of silence is a theory that was developed
in 1974 and as the founder and the director of the Public Opinion Research Center in Allensbach in
Germany; she has found evidence of how the spread of public opinion is formed. The term spiral of
silence refers to the increasing pressure people feel to conceal their views they think they are the
minority. People will be unwilling to publicly express their opinion if they are in the minority and they
will also be more vocal if they believe they are a part of the majority. Thus, the more marginalized you
become, the less you speak and so you spiral into a fully marginalized position. Neumann s claim are
based on previous collaborative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is used to reveal a series of factors that measures the likelihood that people will voice their opinions.
There are six factors and the first one is the most important: 1. Those who favor the majority position
are willing to express their voice more comfortably. Feeling in harmony with the spirit of the age
loosens the tongue. [Griffin, Em. Spiral of Silence. A First Look at Communciation Theory. 7th ed.
N.p.: McGraw Hill, n.d. N. pag. Print. 2. If perception of the present opinon does not match the
climate of the conversation, the willingness to speak will depend on how well the conversation
continues on. 3. People are more willing to speak if their views match their counterparts than to those
who disagree. 4. Low self esteem will cause a person to mute their opinion more often than others. 5.
Males, young adults, and people of the middle and upper classes tend to speak out more easily. 6.
Existing law encourages people to express their opinion when they feel outnumbered. The Supreme
Court s Roe v Wade is a good example. Now that we know the building blocks of the spiral of silence,
we can get to root of Noelle Neumann s model of her theory leading to her main point and the last
factor, fear of isolation. The fear of isolation is the centrifugal force that accelerates the spiral of
silence. Essentially, people fear becoming social isolates and thus take measures to avoid such a
consequence. Her assumption is drawn

Fahrenheit 451 Book Report
For the last month or so I ve been reading Fahrenheit 451. Fahrenheit 451 is a science fiction novel
that was written by Ray Bradbury. It was originally written in 1953. It is about a dystopian universe
where it is illegal to read or own books. In the book the characters are Guy Montag (a firefighter who
burns books), Mildred (Montag s wife), and Beatty (Montag s boss who is also a firefighter).
I like the concept and plot of the book, but I don t like the book itself. It s extremely hard to follow the
book because of the way the words are written and the flow of the words. While in a way, you must
appreciate how well an author Mr. Bradbury was. The book was beautifully detailed.

Clarisse is a young bright girl who is introduced in the beginning of the book. She s my favorite

she thinks it will show if you re in love with someone or not. She refuses to conform. It s interesting
the way Montag interacts with Clarisse. He s perplexed about her and unsure how to respond to her,

Headstone V. Collins Analysis
In observing Headstone´s more genuine and honest attitude towards marriage, it is clear that his
proposal is more convincing than Collins´. In Collins proposal, he speaks of his patroness, Lady
Catherine de Bourgh, whom he relies on very heavily for advice. She says that marriage is for [her]
sake; and for [Collins], showing the selfish intentions behind Collins proposal. His self interested
goals of marrying Bennet are insincere and not as persuasive, making her less likely to empathize with

he makes his argument, he states that he does not know that [he] could say more if [he] tried. He
knows that he has said all that he can to persuade her, and it is up to Hexam now to decide. By giving
Hexam freedom to choose her response, she will most likely appreciate this and be more inclined to
accept. However, Collins makes several assumptions about Bennet s response. He goes on to state
several different aspects of his to be marriage to her, even including that she will find [his patroness ]
manners beyond anything [he] can describe. By using the word will , there is an inference that Collins
has made, an inference with a tone of finality that more or less makes it seem like Bennet has already
accepted his proposal. This eager assumption may be off putting to Bennet and may negatively affect
her actual response to the proposal. However, in Headstone s phrases like if you would return a
favorable answer to my offer, he uses conditional words like if and would to show that he does not
expect Hexam to accept his proposal, and that his thoughts are simply hypothetical, adding to the
effective freedom of Hexam in choosing her

Quantitative Article Summary
In this article, the researchers used the quantitative method by distributing a structural clinical
interview and life events checklist to one hundred and fifty nine women who had dealt with assault
trauma in their lifetime. With this in mind, the researchers were able to gather statistics from the data
these women provided for them.
Moreover, the quantitative method is used by researches who want to discover statistics and facts by
analyzing data in a numerical way. Unlike this article, the qualitative method is used by researches
who want to gather data through observations and interviews based on what the participants say or do.
The qualitative method seeks to explore and collect opinions and motivations on the research topic
instead of collecting numerical data.

clarify the factors that could affect resilience in women exposed to PTE s. After that research is

In the group collaboration, we did have a discussion about qualitative vs. quantitative research and
how the article could be difficult in some sections to asses which method the researches performed.
Other than that, hypothetically, an opposing view could come up from someone questioning the results
based on how data was accumulated since the study could not determine how supportive relationships
could affect the outcome of the diagnosis of each woman.
This research was performed to help identify psychological factors that affect the outcome of women
who are exposed to assault related PTE s. In return, those findings could enhance clinical

Essay on The Media Should NOT Define our Self-Image

Media shapes the world we live in, through advertisements. Most women are working mothers today.
It is a frequent occurrence for a man to help out with daily chores; cooking dinner, cleaning, and
watching the children after school. Yet, many advertisements still depict women taking care of the
children, cleaning house and cooking dinner for the family. Many dads are picking their children from
school, taking them to sports practice, and picking them up afterwards. The van commercial shows a

taking his stress out on the road. While mom is hauling the kids around dad is out having fun off

The Cask Of Amontillado Chapter 1 Summary
This story tells about premature murder. Poe uses first person viewpoints because in a first person
view human weakness is apparent. The action and dialogue of the charters add a great deal of value to
the plot. Montresor tells the story of the night when he took his revenge on Fortunato, a fellow
nobleman. Angry over some vague insult, he plans to murder his friend during Carnival, a celebration
like Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Montresor chooses to wait until Fortunato is drunk and cannot
understand what is going on. Montresor attracts him into the catacombs to try a cask of amontillado

Doctors in many different fields believe admitting you made a mistake is unethical but admitting you
made a mistake can only help yourself and others. When people share their mistakes with others it
allows them to learn from your failures preventing future mistakes of the same nature, it can relieve
stress revealing actions that you may regret or hold against yourself. Doctors should learn from errors
to learn better techniques or ways to double check their conclusions because it does not just affect the
doctor it also affects the patient. Many doctors suffer from fatigue or overcrowded emergency rooms,
some feel the effects and others do not but we still need to allow others to double or triple check

When somebody shares their errors this allows others to learn how to prevent these same mistakes as

The Madonna Or Virgin Mary
The Madonna or Virgin Mary was a popular theme for many Middle Age and Renaissance period
artists. I will be writing with a view of exploring the following pieces. The first is Madonna Enthroned
with Angels and Prophets. [Fig 1] This work was by a prominent artist named Cimabue, or Cenni di
Pepo, and was created in Florence, Italy. It is believed to have been done in the Middle Ages from
1280 1290 A.D. and the medium is tempura on wood. At dimensions of 12 7 X 7 4 it is quite large and
is currently on display in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy. As is implied by its title, the subject
matter of this piece is the Virgin Mary and Christ. The second work is The Madonna of the Pinks [Fig
2] by Raphael. Raphael was also a prominent artist of his time, and has often been compared to
Leonardo and Michelangelo. This work of oil paint on yew, or fruitwood, was created during the High
Renaissance circa 1506 7 A.D. Also created in Florence, Italy, it is a small work, measuring just 27.9
cm X 22.4cm, currently housed as The National Gallery in London. The subject matter of this piece is
also that of the Virgin Mary and Christ. Both of these works are excellent examples of why their

The last time this occurred was 1969 1970 season where there were only 12 teams in the league and two from Canada being the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs. The league has grown to 30 teams (and is in the process of expanding), with seven of them being north of the border. Although there are only seven teams representing the red and white, it surprising to think that none of them qualified, considering that last season five out of the the seven teams were in playoffs (except for Toronto and Edmonton). Each team had their reasons for why they didn t make it. Toronto s first season under Mike Babcock was one to forget since they are in the rebuilding process and finished 30th overall with 69 points. The Leafs also traded away star players Phil Kessel, captain Dion Phaneuf, and James Reimer in order to start from scratch and create a new team identity. They are looking to improve after securing the first overall pick in the upcoming draft and will most likely take prospect Austun Matthews to help get them back to the playoffs after being out since the 2012 2013 season. • 9. 12 Bar Blues Progression Essay 12 bar Blues progression is 12 measures long (I, IV, and V chords of a key). A bar is measuring the music against its rhythm. A bar is a vertical line that is drawn through a musical staff. The rhythm is usually one two three four. When you put stress on the two and four you get your blues progression basic beat. Speeding up or slowing down this beat will set the tempo of the song. The theme is in the first four line and then repeated in the fifth through eight lines. Then the closing four bars have the original theme, but with improvisational endings adding up to twelve lines. This gives you the 12 bar Blues progression. This theory states that neither a transformational leadership model, nor a transactional model of leadership is going to work all the time and in all situations. Therefore, the philosophy of a leader should be flexible enough to adapt to situations and changing times, and we will have to use a combination of transformational and transactional leadership techniques to get the job done ( Pros and Cons of , n.d., para. 9). The rudimentary idea behind Situational theory is that we need to adapt our strategy to the changing of conditions. Contingency theory The contingency theory is a theory that states that to be an effective leader we should rely on not only on the style of leading but, on the control over a situation, so there needs to be a good leader member relations ( Fiedler s Contingency Theory , n.d., para. 3), and must have a task in mind with a clear procedure and goals, and the skill for rewards and punishments when needed. If these are not in the right combination and context in any way will result in failure for the leader. This theory in general state that effectiveness will depend on the nature of the task, situation, leader s personality, make up of the group being led, and the factors involved. Disegno, which means drawing, was the most important element in attempting to achieve perfection. Disengo was found not only in painting, but also in all areas of Florentine art. The importance of nature in Florentine resulted in the study of the natural world, anatomy, and movement. Artists would develop their concepts in detail on separate parchment paper and then transfer them. A work that represents disegno would be Leonardo Da Vinci, The Fetus and Lining of the Uterus. Leonardo used his technique of hatched shading and careful contours to create careful contours to describe volume and movement in two artfully posed figures (Sorabella 1). His drawings placed sensitivity on shading and the tones. In Venice, artists used the colorito, defined as color, to create work with a sense of life. The color palette used by Venetians was a slightly less vivid then Florentine palette, but the colors were layered and blended to achieve a glowing richness. Venetian artists gradually softened their coloring until their manner equaled nature. Venetians attempted to equal nature through the use of light and how light will affect the body. The Baseball Team At Oklahoma Baptist University Dear Mr. Davenport, Director of Athletics at Oklahoma Baptist University As you very well know, Oklahoma Baptist University competes in twenty one varsity sports at the NCAA Division II level. Every year, approximately 500 student athletes from all around Oklahoma, the United States, and the globe come to Bison Hill to compete on one of those twenty one teams. As a member of the Bison baseball team, I ve been very blessed to meet and play with a diverse group of guys. Over the first couple of months that I ve been at OBU, however, I ve noticed a barrier that student athletes place between their team and other students. Generally, most student athletes solely hang out with their teammates of the sport they play. Now it s important for teammates to build chemistry with one another, but at the same time it causes a feeling of division among other students. The most effective way to solve this problem is by putting student athletes in a position to feel unified with the rest of the university through activities that form and strengthen relationships, student clubs and organizations, and groups that encourage growth in Christ. Over the course of a school year, student athletes spend a majority or their time with their teammates. In offseason, they might spend an hour or so with their teammates, plus another hour or two in study hall with them. Whereas during season, they could spend up to a full day or two with their teammates on a road trip. When athletes aren t on the field, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Our country is said to be one of the greatest democratic countries of all time; nevertheless, we have faced great problems such as slavery and unfair distribution of wealth. Our Constitution has helped to shape one of the greatest democratic countries, but it can simultaneously be deprecated for its promotion of institutional racism. People such as Thomas Jefferson, who owned slaves, wrote the Constitution. As a result, our country was founded on white supremacist beliefs. Our founding fathers were supposed to be drafting one of the greatest democratic documents ever written, but at the same time they were taking away from blacks certain freedoms and unalienable rights, rights and freedoms that they themselves had fought for against the British. Our founding fathers spoke of equality and the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, but at the same time, they owned slaves and viewed them as property. • 16. The Impact Of Technological Change On The British... Technological change was at the heart of driving the British Industrial Revolution over the late 18th and early 19th century. A series of significant inventions such as steam engines, spinning jenny and water frame had precipitated British economy s evolution from pre modern to sustained economic growth. To explain the radical change in technology, two competing factors are highlighted in literature. Economists like Sir John R.Hicks outlined that the real reason for the predominance of labour saving inventions is surely that ... a change in the relative prices of the factors of production is itself a spur to innovation and to inventions (). In contrast, Joel Mokyr argued that it was the right combination of useful knowledge generated by scientists, engineers and inventors to be exploited by a supply of skilled craftsmen in an institutional environment that produced the correct incentives for entrepreneurs (Crafts, 2010, p155 156). By comparing the impacts of factor prices and institutions on technological change in Industrial Revolution, the former is evidently more important than the latter. Britain s peculiar wage and price structure was decisive in motivating dramatic technological change over industrial revolution. The abundance of coal s supply made energy very cheap (Allen, 2009, p82). Other than that, the relative price of labour to capital and energy had been surging from the mid 17th century (Allen, 2009, pp171 172). Due to the factor price structure of British ... There are many different types of treatment for anxiety disorders. Some are more effective than others. The studies within this paper will further tell us about anxiety disorder, different types of treatments, and treatment effectiveness. The Purpose of the Studies The purpose of the study by Palazzo, Altamura, Stein, and Baldwin (2014) was to find published literature on health literacy about psychotropic medications. The study also includes some difference between public beliefs and clinicians opinions. It is said that anxiety symptoms and disorders often lead to the development of other mental and physical disorders. It was proved that mental literacy is effective in encouraging a help seeking attitude. Unfortunately little is known about how to enhance knowledge about psychotropic medications. Depression and an anxiety disorder in young patients and in clinicians opinions showed that there are difference between public beliefs and clinicians opinions. If perception of the present opinon does not match the climate of the conversation, the willingness to speak will depend on how well the conversation continues on. 3. People are more willing to speak if their views match their counterparts than to those who disagree. 4. Low self esteem will cause a person to mute their opinion more often than others. 5. Males, young adults, and people of the middle and upper classes tend to speak out more easily. 6. Existing law encourages people to express their opinion when they feel outnumbered. The Supreme Court s Roe v Wade is a good example. Now that we know the building blocks of the spiral of silence, we can get to root of Noelle Neumann s model of her theory leading to her main point and the last factor, fear of isolation. The fear of isolation is the centrifugal force that accelerates the spiral of silence. Essentially, people fear becoming social isolates and thus take measures to avoid such a consequence. Her assumption is drawn ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Fahrenheit 451 Book Report For the last month or so I ve been reading Fahrenheit 451. Fahrenheit 451 is a science fiction novel that was written by Ray Bradbury. It was originally written in 1953. It is about a dystopian universe where it is illegal to read or own books. In the book the characters are Guy Montag (a firefighter who burns books), Mildred (Montag s wife), and Beatty (Montag s boss who is also a firefighter). I like the concept and plot of the book, but I don t like the book itself. It s extremely hard to follow the book because of the way the words are written and the flow of the words. While in a way, you must appreciate how well an author Mr. Bradbury was. The book was beautifully detailed. I feel conflicted towards Montag. He burns books and he s actively part of a society that instead of respecting knowledge and education, they would much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Clarisse is a young bright girl who is introduced in the beginning of the book. She s my favorite because she s immensely interesting. I love how unique she is from all the other characters. It s interesting the way Montag interacts with Clarisse. He s perplexed about her and unsure how to respond to her, but simultaneously, he can t stop thinking about her because she s different from all the people he surrounds himself with. In the book, Clarisse asked him, Are you happy? It s a very simple question but it s sad that she noticed his discontent with life when everyone who knew him longer and better didn t even see his that he was depressed. • 30. Headstone V. Collins Analysis In observing Headstone´s more genuine and honest attitude towards marriage, it is clear that his proposal is more convincing than Collins´. In Collins proposal, he speaks of his patroness, Lady Catherine de Bourgh, whom he relies on very heavily for advice. She says that marriage is for [her] sake; and for [Collins], showing the selfish intentions behind Collins proposal. His self interested goals of marrying Bennet are insincere and not as persuasive, making her less likely to empathize with Collins and accept his proposal. He is merely proposing to Bennet for the purpose of pleasing his patroness, unlike the romance fueled marriage perspective clearly shown in Headstone s proposal. Contrary to Collins, Headstone appeals to an honest and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He knows that he has said all that he can to persuade her, and it is up to Hexam now to decide. By giving Hexam freedom to choose her response, she will most likely appreciate this and be more inclined to accept. However, Collins makes several assumptions about Bennet s response. He goes on to state several different aspects of his to be marriage to her, even including that she will find [his patroness ] manners beyond anything [he] can describe. By using the word will , there is an inference that Collins has made, an inference with a tone of finality that more or less makes it seem like Bennet has already accepted his proposal. This eager assumption may be off putting to Bennet and may negatively affect her actual response to the proposal. However, in Headstone s phrases like if you would return a favorable answer to my offer, he uses conditional words like if and would to show that he does not expect Hexam to accept his proposal, and that his thoughts are simply hypothetical, adding to the effective freedom of Hexam in choosing her ... Angry over some vague insult, he plans to murder his friend during Carnival, a celebration like Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Montresor chooses to wait until Fortunato is drunk and cannot understand what is going on. Montresor attracts him into the catacombs to try a cask of amontillado and then seals him away to die there. The first is Madonna Enthroned with Angels and Prophets. [Fig 1] This work was by a prominent artist named Cimabue, or Cenni di Pepo, and was created in Florence, Italy. It is believed to have been done in the Middle Ages from 1280 1290 A.D. and the medium is tempura on wood. At dimensions of 12 7 X 7 4 it is quite large and is currently on display in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy. As is implied by its title, the subject matter of this piece is the Virgin Mary and Christ. The second work is The Madonna of the Pinks [Fig 2] by Raphael. Raphael was also a prominent artist of his time, and has often been compared to Leonardo and Michelangelo. This work of oil paint on yew, or fruitwood, was created during the High Renaissance circa 1506 7 A.D. Also created in Florence, Italy, it is a small work, measuring just 27.9 cm X 22.4cm, currently housed as The National Gallery in London. The subject matter of this piece is also that of the Virgin Mary and Christ. Both of these works are excellent examples of why their artists are considered among the greatest of their respective time periods.
