Limitations Of Regulation Of Private Insurance Systems
Limitations to Regulation Advocates of private insurance systems argue that flaws in the system can
be remedied with regulation of the market or through government subsides to help the poor afford the
insurance (NEED SOURCE). Even with the attempt at regulation of the private finance system in the
US (the ACA and existing Medicaid program), patients still have limited coverage and accessibility
(White, 2013; Garfield and Damico, 2015; Smith and Medalia; 2015). Regulation through expanding
Medicaid has fallen short due to state autonomy upheld by the Supreme Court ruling; as of September
2015, 20 states refused to adopt the ACA expansion of their Medicaid programs (Garfield and
Damico, 2015). Since ACA envisioned that the expansion of Medicaid would cover an increasing
number of families and childless adults at a certain percentage of the poverty line, it does not provide
financial assistance to people below poverty for other coverage options (ibid.). The result is a
coverage gap where many adults do not qualify for Medicaid but are below the lower limit for
marketplace premium tax credits (ibid.). Currently, it is estimated that more than 3 million adults fall
into this gap indicating that patching a system of inequity and limited access still results a larger in
problems for lower income people to gain access to healthcare (ibid.). Though the ACA is still the
early stages, it appears that even a radical change in private healthcare financing in the US is not
enough to

American Fashion Industry in 21st Century
American Fashion in 21st Century Fashion is the need to adapt to ever changing styles; to dress in
distinctive and current trends and a means for one to express their individuality. Fashion refers to
keeping every aspect of one s body up to date for varying reasons. Some people prefer a simple life
style with modest attire whereas most passionately follow the fashion industry and rapidly change
accordingly. This increase in demand for individually tailored items including everything from
clothing and footwear to makeup and body piercings is what gave birth to the fashion industry. The
roots of this business can be traced to America in the nineteenth century where it grew rapidly and
spread across the globe to become the highly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What is more, this completion extends to designers as well since they strive to differentiate their
products introduce innovative styles which can result in an inefficient use of resources and illegal
business practices. This need for cost minimization is one of the reasons as to why the fashion
industry exploits cheap foreign labor. The glamor, the runways and the exhibitions are just the front of
a dark background. This industry works on the basis of subcontracting, where designers place orders
with manufacturers who then hire sub contractor to complete their orders. Since this industry is highly
competitive subcontractor are given only take or leave option with often less payment compared to
amount of work which forces them to resort to employing cheap labor in their own workshops which
often end up resembling sweat shops. Even if this is not the case, designer brands have their own units
to produce their goods. Recently many of the fashion retailers have been accused of underpaying their
workers and violating international labor laws by running sweatshop. These involve extremely low
wages, long working hours and poor working conditions. Earlier this month, factories in Cambodia
were investigated for possible violation labor laws. These factories produced clothing for the fast
fashion retailer H amp;M which was found to be paying their workers a measly wage of $61 a month

Franklin and Theodore Roosevelt Essay
Franklin and Theodore Roosevelt
Throughout the ages there have been many great leaders. These leaders are powerful in many ways,
with a strong control over the people, and a place in history. But who would have guessed that two
cousins would be some of the greatest government figures ever? Franklin Delano Roosevelt and
Theodore Roosevelt, both American presidents, both American Heroes. Without these dignitaries, the
American advancement into the present day would be incomplete and/or impossible. They gave
people hope through hard times and the spirit to protect their country and one another.

Roosevelt took advantage of his presidential powers to bust into foreign affairs in Latin America and
resolved the Russo Japanese war. This valiant act earned him a Nobel Peace Prize.
Roosevelt felt strongly about trade throughout the world. In 1904 the Isthmus of Panama was first
broken by American shovel. After months of negotiation, the Latin American government allowed the
creation of the Panama Canal. The U.S. military and other volunteers did most of the work. But
because of Yellow Fever and Malaria , few workers returned. In 1914 the Canal Zone was finished and
for the first time the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans were flowing together.
As Roosevelt s second term was coming to an end, he picked William Howard Taft as his successor.
Taft preached his ideas to the public, criticizing Roosevelt in his speeches.
Roosevelt, hearing about his partner s insulting speeches, broke from the Republican s and formed a
third party which he called the Progressive Party. The two duked it out in The most remarkable

Influence Of Greek Folk Song
Greece sits at the crossroad between the Eastern and Western cultures of Asia and Europe. Being at
this critical junction, Greece has experienced the ebb and flow of two cultural currents which
subjected and allowed her to assimilate creatively diverse influences. Once Constantinople fell in
1453, completing the collapse of the Byzantine empire, there followed four hundred years of slavery
which greatly hindered the natural development of Hellenism and restricted its spiritual evolution.
This period was particularly harsh and had an inhibitive influence on Greek music. From the twelfth
or thirteenth century forward, an economically exhausted Byzantium was slowly collapsing due to
years of factional rebellion, religious disputes, western crusades and eastern invasions. While the new
technique of polyphony was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As early as the first century A.D., ancient Greek tragedy, which at its peak of harmonious unity,
incorporated poetry, music and dance, had disintegrated into its component elements.
Actor tragedians continued to perform only certain parts of the dialogue of the tragedies, while others
with good voices sang the vocal parts. There also arose a gesticulator whose purpose was to illustrate,
with pantomimic gestures, what the actor tragedian was singing. This gradually transformed the old
Attic style of tragedy and comedy into the tragic pantomime style of the imperial Byzantine years that
included dance, mime, recitation and song. The reactions of the Church Fathers and the stream of
condemnatory decisions and excommunications issued by ecumenical synods indicate the popularity
of these spectacle concerts in multi ethnic Byzantium and the influence of the mime performances on
the austere moral code of the Christians for many centuries to

This unit was about pickleball. I had never heard of pickleball before this unit.We were asked to study
it and played it several times in our lessons. It was quite fun as we played and learned all the rules too.
Pickle ball can be a two player game or a four player game. It uses a wooden paddle and a plastic ball
and a net. The plastic ball is light weight and empty so that it doesn t sink down really quick. We
played two player games and four player games. At first I found it quite fun,I was paired with my

Anne Hutchinson And The Persecution Of The Puritans
From 1629 to 1640, approximately 200,000 Puritans escaping King Charles I s persecution of them in
connection to the Anglican Church fled England in what was referred to as the Great Migration.
Around 21,000 of these religious refugees sailed to the northeastern coast of North America and
established the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Through ruthless cultural preservation, not only did
Massachusetts grow into the most prosperous colony of English America, but the sentiments of its
formation were also echoed by the establishment of other two most successful colonies, both of which
were founded by persecuted religious groups; Pennsylvania by the Quakers and Virginia by Royalist
Anglicans. Due to their previous experiences, the settlers of Massachusetts built a culture that centered
around the preservation and growth of their own religious practices, through the notions of order and
unity. Ironically, the means they used in order to carry out said order were often violent and through
the persecution of those who were not Puritan, similar to the way the Anglicans treated them. One of
the most notable examples of this institutional violence was that of Anne Hutchinson. Hutchinson was
a preacher who challenged the fundamental concept of predestination, which was the principle that
God had already selected those who were going to heaven and those who were going to hell. While
many Puritans considered predestination to mean that they had to live a pious life in the event that

Ellen Degeneres Heritage And Clayman
B) Examine how organisation of talk (Heritage Clayman) influence authenticity. Ellen DeGeneres was
the 2012 recipient of the Mark Twain prize which recognises individuals who have made significant
contributions to American humour. The authenticity of DeGeneres speech is explored by looking at
only the extent to which the party orients to the overall structural organisation, (Dimensions of
Institutional Talk in Heritage Clayman, 2010, pp. 43). DeGeneres speech follows the general
conventions of an acceptance speech: showing appreciation for her recognition and the people who
have given her their support; stating how honoured she is and mentioning award by name; sharing
thoughts about being awarded; saying something inspiration, which in DeGeneres case, was
recounting how her trials and tribulations have made her the person she is today. However, she
manages to personalise her speech with her usual stream of consciousness style of delivery, bold
references to her sexuality and quips that challenges the audience s expectations, thereby rendering her
authentic. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her sentences are punctuated by ah , uh and um , together with quick turns of thoughts. Transitions are
often abrupt, such as the lines: (Money was) really all I wanted. This ah to everyone who flew out,
first of all, to be here, uh uh I thank you. While these elements approximate spontaneous conversation
and make her speech seem unplanned and personal in contrast to the usual concise, or otherwise
stylised structuring of acceptance speeches that sound contrived, simulated or performed
(Montgomery, pp. 402), it can also be argued that the tendencies identified are merely an attempt at
synthetic personalisation (Fairclough cited in Montgomery, 2010, pp. 403) to index

How To Promote Diabetes System
Introduction When it comes to healthcare, any change of services within the systems like new
products have to go through the process of procurement to make sure that the Health Authority is

Ryder Wells Undefinable Personality
The first thing you notice about 13 year old Ryder Wells is his hair. He s got a lot of it. Dirty blond, a

personality is undefinable and different from the rest.
To start, he has unusually quirky attitude that contradicts his devoted love towards his pets. For

kittens on his notebook. It s this quirkiness that people like Lila Renke people notice, He is always

Stereotypes Of Women In Beowulf
As for social issues, the stereotypes of women are fairly apparent. Women seem to have a definite
roles and expectations. In one instance, it is mentions in the book that women are often married off in
order to settle tense relations between factions. One textual example read as:
Hrothgar will give her
To Ingeld, gracious Froda s son;
She and that ripening soldier will be married,
The Danes great lord and protector has declared,
Hoping that his quarrel with the Hathobards can
Be settled. (2023 2028)
This shows how women were used as an object, but most men in the epic were personified as warriors
or kings. In addition to this, Beowulf mentions how Grendel s mother could not be as strong as him
simply because she was a women. From the poem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At another level, it is also a mode of analysis and politics, committed to freeing all women of gender
based oppressions (805). This ties into the theme of downplaying and obedience of women throughout
the epic. There is no mention of men walking throughout the mead halls serving the other men, but
Hareth s daughter took them through the hall, / Carried ale to her husband s comrades (Beowulf 1981
1982). There seems to be a de facto state of women as the lesser sex during this time. This may be due
to the warrior culture that was apparent warrior culture that the characters of Beowulf lived by. Lee
and Daly s essay proposes the concept of universal female subordination, of man the hunter, and
woman the nurturer (30). It would be logical to assume that one explanation for the patriarchal society
of Beowulf would be the warrior culture. Even in today s culture, it is not common for women to be a
soldier. Lee and Daly concede that two parts are social inequality and militarism (30). This may
suggest that the positions of power that militarism often grants men creates social inequality. This
would seem to be even more painfully apparent during a time such as the eighth century because it
was the time of nights and

Barbie Doll Marge Piercy Analysis
In the story barbie doll by Marge Piercy it s about a young normal girl growing up playing with dolls
and pretend make up. It takes a shocking turn when she is made fun of during her youth adulthood, for
have a big nose and fat legs. Futher into the poem she cut off her legs and nose and a very unusual
illustration of her laying in a casket with an conclusion that express to every woman a happy ending .
Within society a women desire to be flawless when it comes to looks. There s so much pressure and
eagerness when it comes to a female fulfilling that image of looking like barbie. There is proof to this
statement with the poet s use of irony, imagery and the impact of words having a bad outcome on the
self esteem of females.
Piercy s use of irony is detected within the title itself barbie doll . I envision it to revolve around the
ideal barbie image alot of people make great efforts to achieve. However, this is where the true irony
comes in. Barbies are popular for their unnatural slim bodies and perfect features and because they are
played with by little girls, that image becomes the image teenagers and girls look for. Yet, in the poem
the girl does not have barbie doll features. a fat nose on thick legs, (835) is what she was being teased
about because she hit puberty. Then in the magic of puberty Puberty is when your body begins to
change into an adult and there s nothing magical about that, especially for the little girl because it
caused her to be teased for her appearences.
In the last few lines of the poem, piercy refers to a happy ending it is a depressing thought.
Consummation at last. To every woman a happy ending (24 25) is very sarcastic and pessimistic. She
is basically saying that at last the end has come and its a feeling of pleasure since the girl got her wish,
but at what cost did she become a barbie.
The poet s use of imagery is all over the poem when we reflect on the girl childhood and how she was
teased for her fat nose on thick legs she doesn t resemble a barbie doll with perfect nose and legs. Her
good nature wore out like a fan belt. (15 16) There s imagery in this line because a fan belt breaks
quickly when it comes in contact with oil. So the on going disapproval

If, for example, money must be converted to another currency to make a certain investment, any
changes in the currency exchange rate cause that investment s value to either increase or decrease
when the investor sells and converted back into the original currency. This is a crucial concept that
cannot go undiscussed every time a foreign direct investment subjects. This is especially for a foreign
country because changes in the currency rates of the investment target country, where an international
enterprise invests, translates into changes in the value of the investment
The world of business has it that it is almost impossible for a unified entity or corporation to
determine or manipulate the exchange rates of a country or between countries. This is because the
factor contributes of currency exchange movements are numerous and include the forces of demand
and supply, oil prices and even politics! A corporation, however, can strive as hard as it can, to protect
itself from the risks involved in such currency exchange movements. The strategies involved help
reduce risks for the corporation.
When buying or selling foreign currency, a corporation can either do it as and when it needs to, at the
prevailing exchange rate, or try to transact when the currency exchange rate is at an advantage. A
remarkably simple form of currency hedging is exchanging the currency in parts. If the corporation is

Students Should Be Taught In Schools
With the results of the wonderful benefits it provides, it brings a question to mind; what do these
teaching methods do that benefit our education? As a future educator and being in a school where
these practices and techniques have been implemented, to me I feel that this teaching style has a huge
impacted on how students should be taught. I believe that this trend should be continued to be used in
all schools because this process really dives into the fundamentals of teaching. It also gets the students
involved with their education and in my opinion, that creates an environment where the students can
take control of their learning and they can be accountable for their education. I believe some schools
forget that it is the student s job ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the bond between students and teachers is stronger and students feel more safe and comfortable
in their environment, then they will be more willing to seek help. Gina Badalaty, has two daughters
who have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), multiple learning disabilities and speech language
challenges. When the school her daughters attended moved into the responsive teaching approach, she
was nervous for what would come. To summarize Badalaty s experience with the new changes at her
daughter s school, she said, ...they are both performing exceptionally well at age appropriate
academics. Most importantly, they actually enjoy school, doing their coursework, and seeing their
friends. I m convinced that responsive classroom is an educational approach that benefits teachers,
students, and parents by creating an inclusive atmosphere in which children can learn and thrive
(Badalaty). From Gina Badalaty s experience, it is easy to see that the teaching approach in which
schools use to promote learning is benefiting children in many ways. Students with dyslexia and
dyscalculia also can benefit immensely from the responsive teaching approach. Dyslexic students can
benefit from active teaching since the teacher presents first and then explains what was just presented.
With this students with dyslexia have more time to organize, prioritize and filter new information
(Stevens). Students with dyscalculia can really benefit from the student practice, instructor guided part
of responsive teaching. Here students with dyscalculia can use manipulatives, have more space to
write out problems and even be able to talk out the problem (Morin). Students with ADHD can also
benefit from this learning style. Teachers that have students with ADHD can simplify the instructions
and can post classroom rules on the wall so it is very clear what is expected of them (Weaver

Essay on Supersonic Flight
In 1943, Theodor Von Karman, in response to a request by US Air Force headquarters, claimed that

The fear of breaking the sound barrier was finally removed in 1947, when the Captain Yaeger flew the

sonic boom (caused by an impulsive pressure change created by the sonic waves detaching from the
aircraft), music for the scientists attending that historical moment, but current nightmare for the 21st

The B 58 itself showed to the world that the possibility of a civilian SST was at least worthy of
accurate investigation and capital investments. Although the large bomber implemented the supersonic
efficient area ruling design first introduced by Whitcomb (mid 1950s [1]) and therefore it could
deliver a nuclear payload cruising at Mach 2 for about two hours, the light and thin wings, designed
for high altitude flight and inefficient close to the ground at subsonic speed, highlighted a new set of
primary technical challenges to be addressed by a commercial SST: the realization satisfactory
structural design, the optimization of the wing aerodynamics for subsonic flow, and related to the last
point, the improvement of takeoff and landing performance. A deadly crash at 1961 Paris air show
summed up all the concerns about safety issues related to a not optimal overall design [4].
Three civilian SST programs started in the 1960s: the successful Anglo French Concorde, the
somewhat failed Russian TU 144 and the short ten year long attempt of the USA SST, all belonging to
the category of what today is referred as first generation supersonic transport.

Summary Of Judas At The Jockey Club

Judas at the Jockey Club written by William H. Beezley provides an accurate description of a
struggling and developing Mexico while during the rule of president Porfirio Diaz up until 1910.
Being divided into three sections such as Sport Recreation (elite class), Rocks Rawhide in Rural
Society (lower class) and the title itself Judas at the Jockey Club. Beezley covers the changing class of
Mexico through the view of sports and leisure activities. I believe Porfirio Diaz allowed the social
tensions to occur causing Mexicans to separate from unity even though destruction and chaos reigned
much of Mexico before him. During the presidency of Porfirio Diaz its often remembered as a period
of oppression and social degradation of freedoms in Mexico. Diaz has also been associated with the
general decline of quality of life of an average Mexican and the decline of social welfare institutions.
Diaz was a liberal whose sole goal was to modernize Mexico and put a stop to any ethnic uncivilized
actions. Mexico during that time was in a crossroads of two very different cultures: the industrial and
the traditional.
This separation in cultures impacting Mexico can be described as backwards in a sense because the
world around them was moving on to bigger and better things. According to Beezley, many had
concluded that Mexico had yet to advance beyond chipped rocks as utensils. (Beezley, 67). Mexico

Differences Between Nature Vs Nurture Essay
Throughout this paper, we will be comparing similarities and differences between our seven members
based on the Big Five Inventory test results to our Zodiac sign attributes. Each member of Psychology
101 Group 14 was required to take the OCEAN Big Personality Quiz, and then compare the results to
the other members of the team. Then after looking at the results individual members compared their
scores to their Zodiac signs to see if they could identify similarities. To begin, while looking at our
comparatives scores of the OCEAN Big 5 Personality quizzes, we found that a few group members
were similar, although there was many differences in the group too. For example, Gabe and Damon
were similar in Openness, with a score of 41 and 35 respectively. On the other hand, Socoro and
Vivianna were outliers in the group, with Vivianna having a score of 5, and Socoro with a score of 59.
We believe while the scores are closely related, our reasons for being close together in Openness value
more shows the debate between nature vs nurture. Gabe s belief on being in the 35th percentile is how
he was raised throughout his family environment similar to Kaitlyn in the 41st percentile, while
Damon s belief for being in the 41st percentile was more so being born into the statistic rather than
recalling any events that contributed to his score. Rachael scored in the 16th percentile, which
indicates a preference of a more regular schedule. She believes that this is because of how she

backgrounds leading up to the commercial plane crash. However, as the series progresses, characters
once believed to have little impact in the show, are highlighted in a single episode and shed light on
topics never previously thought about. The 23rd Psalm, the tenth episode in season two, demonstrates
this aspect of the series very well. The science fiction characteristic of the series is toned down to
bring attention to the drug trading in Africa, specifically Nigeria. The 23rd Psalm attempts to inform
people around the world how organized crime in Nigeria has affected the lives of many who live there,
what they have to do to survive, and the sphere of influence drug trafficking has around the world. The
episode begins with Eko (Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje) finding out that Charlie Pace (Dominic
Monaghan) has in his possession a Virgin Mary statue. Eko demands to see the statue only to break in
open and revealing the heroin inside. Eko then demands that Charlie take him to the location where he
found the statue, which happens to be a small plane crash site farther inland on the island. The plane

He propounds his ideas with great precision and clarity and his thoughts are brimful in logic and

prose style encyclopedic. He has employed a very wonderful style to present his premise for poetry.
He has garnered unabated praise for his outstanding prose style. His style is neither prolix like that of
Montaigne, nor so proverbial like that of Bacon but his prose style has some formidable similarities
like those of Bacon on the basis of philosophical wisdom and aphoristic strain. His style is larger than

Walt Disney Concert Hall Critical Essay-When Art and...
Why can t we have those curves and arches that express feeling in design? What is wrong with them?
Why has everything got to be vertical, straight, unbending, only at right angles and functional?
¾Charles, Prince of Wales. (Quotes) Three years ago I was studying high school in Los Angeles, and
during vacation I travelled around and explored the city. I still remember out of all the locations that I
have toured, Walt Disney Concert Hall probably is the one that stands out most in my memory.
Although I didn t visit the interior of the Concert Hall, the exterior appearance left a profound impact

It emerges as a symbol to reflect the diverse culture, unique characteristic and hot climate of
downtown Los Angeles (Dal Co 442). The hospitable nature of Walt Disney Concert Hall also
initiated from Gehry s desire to create a synergy via intimacy and inclusion within and outside
(Leigh). He hopes the musicians and performers will be able to feel comfortable and easy on stage and
the orchestra and the audience would have an intimate connection with each other (Leigh). Under this
goal, Gehry makes use of modeled Douglas fir and cedar to surround the auditorium and concave
wood panels to generate the audience seat. As a lot of timber materials are placed inside, it results in a
perception of vibrating sound, enlivening the musical performance. Thus, any small sound from the
audience will be amplified and intermingled with the actual orchestra. Moreover, the stage is designed
a bit higher than the orchestra seats in order to provide a better view for the audience. It seeks to
provide a cozy and intimate acoustic experience (Leigh). The usual concert halls normally provide
private boxes appealing to the promising and affordable audience, but Gehry eliminates this design as
he believes every seat in the Hall provides a different sensational experience (Leigh). Once

Friedman vs Freeman
This paper will have a detailed discussion on the shareholder theory of Milton Friedman and the
stakeholder theory of Edward Freeman. Friedman argued that neo classical economic theory suggests
that the purpose of the organisations is to make profits in their accountability to themselves and their
shareholders and that only by doing so can business contribute to wealth for itself and society at large .
On the other hand, the theory of stakeholder suggests that the managers of an organisation do not only
have the duty towards the firm s shareholders; rather towards the individuals and constituencies who
contribute to the company s wealth, capacity and activities. These individuals or constituencies can be
the shareholders, employees, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequently, the model of stakeholder by Edward Freeman has broadly considered as the strongest
theory regarding responsibilities of a company towards society where the company is located
(Freeman 2008 pp. 162 165). Nevertheless, Friedman pointed out that the profits has taken the firms in
to the hand of business intellectuals by which Friedman recommend that the financial system by
which the organisation run its business is in the restricted responsibility protection which makes the
organisations to privatise their profits (Friedman 1970 pp. 177 184). Friedman also suggested that
according to him the shareholder theory in terms of socially responsible can only increase the profit.
But on the other hand shareholder theory of Edward Freeman completely support the theory of
shareholder towards its role to be socially responsible in the society and maximising the profits for the
benefits of shareholders within the firms and society as well (Freeman 2008 pp. 162 165). According
to Cosans (2009 pp. 391 399) with the taking of limited liability (restricted responsibility) Friedman
must have taken the business in a way to be socially affiliated and well established as well which also
leads and supports the ethical and logical roots of CSR and for the re establishment of the reliability to

Andy Warhol s The Last Supper
Andy Warhol was the revolutionaire who led America and the rest of the world into an era of pop art
with his iconic style. For many his ascent echoes one of pop art s ambitions, to bring popular styles
and subjects into the exclusive salons of high art. His crowning achievement was the elevation of his
own persona to the level of a popular icon, representing a new kind of fame and celebrity for a fine
artist (The Art Story). Although very famous in later life, he had a simple childhood; he was often
sickly and he would spend time at home. Since he had a lot of time to himself he would start to use
that time to learn about pop culture, and this is when he began to have an interest in art. He

The Hard Boiled Private Eye
The hard boiled private eye is a mysterious protagonist who is a professional investigator. With a first
look at Oedipus Rex in Sophocles Oedipus the King and Jake Gittes in Roman Polanski s Chinatown
they seem to be very different from each other. Jake Gittes is a busy detective that lets solving cases
consume his life and Odeipus Rex is a brand new King in the city of Thebes whose is cursed with a
fate that cannot be changed. After reading Oedipus the King and watching Chinatown, it s clear that
both stories share similar characteristics such as corruption, lies and even incest.
Oedipus the King is a tragedy by the ancient Greek playwright Sophocles, that follows the story of
King Oedipus of Thebes as he discovers that he has unwittingly killed his own father, Laius, and
married his own mother, Jocasta. When Oedipus was a baby his parents were told by a prophet that the
baby would grow up to kill his father and marry his own mother. Oedipus mother and father sent him
away to be hanged by his ankles until death. Oedipus was later found and taken to a queen and king in
another kingdom where he would grow up thinking they were his real parents. When Oedipus get
older he gets told by a drunken man that he is a bastard child and this sends him on a mission to find
out the truth. Oedipus goes to the bind prophet for answers and after threating the prophet s life he

Elasticity of Labour Demand Essay example
Elasticity of Labour Demand Labour is a derived demand realised by the demand for the product that
the labour will be producing. The theory of labour demand explains the behaviour of the firm with the
key principle being to achieve the optimal amounts of labour employers will want to utilise at
different wage levels. We must make several assumptions when describing how the long run labour
demand is derived. Firstly we must assume that firms are profit maximisers and therefore will attempt
always to minimise any costs incurred. Further assumptions to simplify analysis of labour demand are
that there are no costs of employment other than hourly wages and productivity of labour is
independent of time worked. I.e. Labour is homogenous. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If this equation was rewritten, the slope of the isoquant would be found. The slope of the isoquant can
be formulated by the marginal rate of technical substitution. (†K/ †L) = (MPL /MPK) As previously
mentioned, a profit maximising firm will always wish to minimise costs. A budget constraint will
signify the fixed sum that a firm can spend on inputs. It is the financial constraint of a firm. Capital
can be given a charge of r (per unit bought) and labour can be given a price, w (wage rate per hour).
Cost of Production = wL + rK If a firm were to spend its total budget on capital, it could purchase C/r,
and similarly, to spend all its funds on labour, C/w could be hired. The slope of the firms financial
constraint, or isocost, will hence be w/r, and all other points along the line show the various purchases
they could make of the inputs. Criteria: · An isocost line will give combinations that are equally costly
· A higher isocost line is associated with a larger budget · The slope is linear and is the negative of the
ratio of input prices ( w/r) Diagram Isocost Long run choice of inputs The long run labour demand
curve is derived from the isocost isoquant analysis. The point where the isocost is tangential to the
isoquant is where the maximum output is

The Past And Present Defining Characteristics Of The Sami...
Evidence suggests human presense in parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland, and even Russia over 9,000
years ago (Joessefson, 142). However, it would not be until thousands of years later that a highly
unique and successful tribe would form, known as the Sami. While many Sami have assimilated into
modern European culture, central traits still exists within this indigiouns group native to the Sapmi
region. Some Sami still practice modes of subsistence, systems of marriage, kinship, social
organization, and religion common to their ancestors. However, today, the Sami are faced with social
issues distinct from those of their predesesors, such as pressures to conform to modern society,
economic struggles, and in some cases, loss of community. It is important to evaluate both the past
and present defining characteristics of the Sami peoples to fully understand their culture. One of the
most well known characterisitics of the Sami is their skill in reindeer pastoralism. Though, pastoralism
was not their initial mode of substiance, instead, the Sami began as a hunter gatherer society. As
northern Europe is subject to extreme and lengthy winters, the Sami caught and harvested what they
could. Beaver, reindeer, and fish were among the most commonly hunted by the Sami (Bergman, other

diet (Loeffler, 70). As well, geographical positioning distinguished the diets of some Sami bands

McCarthy abused his power over the people however. It shows how the senator became the public

The Red Scare campaigns of the Western media were presented on every applicable media source. The
use of print with easily de codable and emotive images helped to redefine national identity as a
virtuous and patriotic America, against a dangerous and destructive socialist east. The media
distributed extreme propagandist slogans such as Better Dead than Red! This type of politicized
propaganda served to cause hysteria over communism and nuclear war (Bernhard). It worked to
subdue any domestic sympathy for the enemy or resistance to the conflict that usually occurs during
war. It was a calculated action to maintain public antagonism towards the enemy and rejection of their
political and economic policies. The media extended the propaganda to every aspect of western life,
from radio, film, television and print to even schools. The film Red Nightmare was taught as part of
the standard curriculum and is evidence of the media providing state sanctioned indoctrination of the
populace. This act of media manipulation to create mass fear and paranoia cannot be undervalued, it
was the conscious effort of the powerful to marginalize unpopular opinion and spread the dominant
agenda. It also assisted in the solidification and polarization of cultural differences and reinforced

Reflective Essay On Academic Performance
This most recent semester at Saint Joseph s University was not the best for me personally and
academically. I struggled academically this semester due to a few personal incidents in my life as well
as my own reaction to the slightest bit of failure. A week before fall break, both of my cousins were in
a severe car accident in delaware. I found out right before an english quiz and went after i took the
quiz. Over that friday and the weekend proceeding it, I was helping my aunt and uncle with anything
they needed while they waited in the hospital. Two days later I found out one of my two cousins that
were in that car accident passed away. The funeral arrangements were set during the weekend before
fall break. That time and the week after were very tough emotionally for me and I was able to talk
about it to my therapist near campus but it affected me for quite some time afterwards. After then a
couple of my grades came back from after fall break that were very poor. This was due to my own
complacent attitude beforehand and afterwards I panicked. I did not react properly to my own slight
failures in the academic realm and with that my personal care fell apart as well. Around the middle of
November, I went to Lakenau Medical center because I was passing a kidney stone. I was not taking
care of myself physically and it affected my academic performance. I was not able to dig myself out of
my academic hole by the time finals came around and that leads us to where I am right now,

Essay about Back Bay Battery
SIMULATION FOREGROUND READING
Back Bay Battery, Inc.
Overview
The battery industry is enormous, with worldwide revenues of approximately $45 billion. It is highly
fragmented with at least 20 major manufacturers in each technology segment. Because of the wide
range of applications of batteries, companies have tended to specialize in a particular technology or
market application. Disposable batteries, such as the widely available carbon zinc and alkaline cells,
are available in standard sizes such as AA, C, and D, and they are a fast moving consumer good
category with emphasis on manufacturing efficiency and scale, marketing and branding, and
distribution efficiency.
One of the earliest forms of rechargeable battery was the wet ... Show more content on

Back Bay Battery, Inc., in 2012
Back Bay Battery is one of over 20 major manufacturers of NiMH batteries. The field is crowded, but
manufacturers have been riding rising a tide of demand from consumers for portable electrically
powered devices.
Though the technology is relatively mature, the company is anticipating continuing strong volume
growth rates, primarily due to rapid consumer adoption. The worldwide market is projected to grow at
9.0%. Pricing pressure is significant, though, as more East Asian competitors continue to drive
commoditization of NiMH cells. Back Bay s sales manager has learned to track the market pricing
closely, as being out of step with the market can cause dramatic market share changes in a relatively
short time.
Li ion batteries have pretty much replaced NiMH in the market for laptop computer batteries.
The first commercial Li ion battery was produced by Sony in 1991. Li ion batteries are favored for
mobile devices because they can store a high density of energy for a given weight. They can be
fabricated in many shapes,

Comparing The Third Wish And The Monkey s Paw
Some people think that if they could only change one aspect of their lives, it would be perfect. They
do not realize that anything that is changed could come with unintended consequences. The Monkey s
Paw by W.W. Jacobs and The Third Wish by Joan Aiken both illustrate this theme. They demonstrate
this by granting the main character three wishes, but with each wish that is granted, brings undesirable
consequences. The main idea of this essay is to compare and contrast The Monkey s Paw and The
Third Wish. Although the The Monkey s Paw and The Third Wish are both fantasies and have similar
themes, they have different main characters, wishes, and resolutions. A good story, whether it is true,

Although regretting wishing another wish, Mr. White wishes Herbert, his son, to be alive again.
Unfortunately, Mr. White realizes that Herbert will return in his mutilated form, so he quickly wishes
for Herbert to return to the grave before his wife is traumatized. As Mr. White and his wife look out at
an empty street, awaiting Herbert s arrival, they are heartbroken knowing that they will probably never
see Herbert again. Unlike Mr. White s first wish, Mr. Peters wishes for a wife as beautiful as the
forest. However, Mr. Peters apprehends that Leita, his wife, will never be satisfied being a human,
because she longs to be with her swan sister. So, for his second wish, he wishes her back to swan
form. Now, without Leita Mr. Peters, as well as Mr. White, is heartbroken and a lonely man, once
again. Now, understanding that wishes only lead to misfortune, he decides not to use the third wish.
The end of a story, when all loose ends are tied and the reader knows what happens to the character(s),
can be described as the resolution. The theme of a story often goes along with the resolution as well.
The Monkey s Paw resolution is rather dark. Mr. White and his wife are heartbroken staring at an
empty street, knowing that they will never see their son again. The theme is if fate ruled people s lives,
and those who interfere with it do to their own sorrow. Overall, The Third Wish is much more of

Entrepreneurship and firm creation generate jobs
The creations of new businesses and the contraction or exit of less productive firms are key elements
in the dynamism of modern economies. New firms attract resources to new activities, and when they
prosper and are able to grow rapidly, they generate significant numbers of new jobs. Empirical work at
the OECD indicates that entry of new firms in most countries is similar to exit of existing firms, and
perhaps surprisingly, there do not appear to be great differences in entry and exit rates across
countries. On the other hand, young firms seem likely to grow

  • 2. Limitations Of Regulation Of Private Insurance Systems Limitations to Regulation Advocates of private insurance systems argue that flaws in the system can be remedied with regulation of the market or through government subsides to help the poor afford the insurance (NEED SOURCE). Even with the attempt at regulation of the private finance system in the US (the ACA and existing Medicaid program), patients still have limited coverage and accessibility (White, 2013; Garfield and Damico, 2015; Smith and Medalia; 2015). Regulation through expanding Medicaid has fallen short due to state autonomy upheld by the Supreme Court ruling; as of September 2015, 20 states refused to adopt the ACA expansion of their Medicaid programs (Garfield and Damico, 2015). Since ACA envisioned that the expansion of Medicaid would cover an increasing number of families and childless adults at a certain percentage of the poverty line, it does not provide financial assistance to people below poverty for other coverage options (ibid.). The result is a coverage gap where many adults do not qualify for Medicaid but are below the lower limit for marketplace premium tax credits (ibid.). Currently, it is estimated that more than 3 million adults fall into this gap indicating that patching a system of inequity and limited access still results a larger in problems for lower income people to gain access to healthcare (ibid.). Though the ACA is still the early stages, it appears that even a radical change in private healthcare financing in the US is not enough to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. American Fashion Industry in 21st Century American Fashion in 21st Century Fashion is the need to adapt to ever changing styles; to dress in distinctive and current trends and a means for one to express their individuality. Fashion refers to keeping every aspect of one s body up to date for varying reasons. Some people prefer a simple life style with modest attire whereas most passionately follow the fashion industry and rapidly change accordingly. This increase in demand for individually tailored items including everything from clothing and footwear to makeup and body piercings is what gave birth to the fashion industry. The roots of this business can be traced to America in the nineteenth century where it grew rapidly and spread across the globe to become the highly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What is more, this completion extends to designers as well since they strive to differentiate their products introduce innovative styles which can result in an inefficient use of resources and illegal business practices. This need for cost minimization is one of the reasons as to why the fashion industry exploits cheap foreign labor. The glamor, the runways and the exhibitions are just the front of a dark background. This industry works on the basis of subcontracting, where designers place orders with manufacturers who then hire sub contractor to complete their orders. Since this industry is highly competitive subcontractor are given only take or leave option with often less payment compared to amount of work which forces them to resort to employing cheap labor in their own workshops which often end up resembling sweat shops. Even if this is not the case, designer brands have their own units to produce their goods. Recently many of the fashion retailers have been accused of underpaying their workers and violating international labor laws by running sweatshop. These involve extremely low wages, long working hours and poor working conditions. Earlier this month, factories in Cambodia were investigated for possible violation labor laws. These factories produced clothing for the fast fashion retailer H amp;M which was found to be paying their workers a measly wage of $61 a month by a Swedish TV program called Kalla Fakta (Keilla 1). These leaders are powerful in many ways, with a strong control over the people, and a place in history. But who would have guessed that two cousins would be some of the greatest government figures ever? Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Theodore Roosevelt, both American presidents, both American Heroes. In 1904 Roosevelt was re elected for a second term in office. In 1906, he passed the Pure Food and Drug act. This group of laws protected American consumers from harmful food, drugs, and cosmetics. Roosevelt took advantage of his presidential powers to bust into foreign affairs in Latin America and resolved the Russo Japanese war. This valiant act earned him a Nobel Peace Prize. Roosevelt felt strongly about trade throughout the world. In 1904 the Isthmus of Panama was first broken by American shovel. After months of negotiation, the Latin American government allowed the creation of the Panama Canal. The U.S. military and other volunteers did most of the work. But because of Yellow Fever and Malaria , few workers returned. In 1914 the Canal Zone was finished and for the first time the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans were flowing together. As Roosevelt s second term was coming to an end, he picked William Howard Taft as his successor. Taft preached his ideas to the public, criticizing Roosevelt in his speeches. Roosevelt, hearing about his partner s insulting speeches, broke from the Republican s and formed a third party which he called the Progressive Party. • 5. Influence Of Greek Folk Song Greece sits at the crossroad between the Eastern and Western cultures of Asia and Europe. Being at this critical junction, Greece has experienced the ebb and flow of two cultural currents which subjected and allowed her to assimilate creatively diverse influences. Once Constantinople fell in 1453, completing the collapse of the Byzantine empire, there followed four hundred years of slavery which greatly hindered the natural development of Hellenism and restricted its spiritual evolution. This period was particularly harsh and had an inhibitive influence on Greek music. From the twelfth or thirteenth century forward, an economically exhausted Byzantium was slowly collapsing due to years of factional rebellion, religious disputes, western crusades and eastern invasions. While the new technique of polyphony was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As early as the first century A.D., ancient Greek tragedy, which at its peak of harmonious unity, incorporated poetry, music and dance, had disintegrated into its component elements. Actor tragedians continued to perform only certain parts of the dialogue of the tragedies, while others with good voices sang the vocal parts. There also arose a gesticulator whose purpose was to illustrate, with pantomimic gestures, what the actor tragedian was singing. This gradually transformed the old Attic style of tragedy and comedy into the tragic pantomime style of the imperial Byzantine years that included dance, mime, recitation and song. The reactions of the Church Fathers and the stream of condemnatory decisions and excommunications issued by ecumenical synods indicate the popularity of these spectacle concerts in multi ethnic Byzantium and the influence of the mime performances on the austere moral code of the Christians for many centuries to ... It was quite fun as we played and learned all the rules too. Pickle ball can be a two player game or a four player game. It uses a wooden paddle and a plastic ball and a net. The plastic ball is light weight and empty so that it doesn t sink down really quick. We played two player games and four player games. At first I found it quite fun,I was paired with my friend. • 7. Anne Hutchinson And The Persecution Of The Puritans From 1629 to 1640, approximately 200,000 Puritans escaping King Charles I s persecution of them in connection to the Anglican Church fled England in what was referred to as the Great Migration. Around 21,000 of these religious refugees sailed to the northeastern coast of North America and established the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Through ruthless cultural preservation, not only did Massachusetts grow into the most prosperous colony of English America, but the sentiments of its formation were also echoed by the establishment of other two most successful colonies, both of which were founded by persecuted religious groups; Pennsylvania by the Quakers and Virginia by Royalist Anglicans. Due to their previous experiences, the settlers of Massachusetts built a culture that centered around the preservation and growth of their own religious practices, through the notions of order and unity. Ironically, the means they used in order to carry out said order were often violent and through the persecution of those who were not Puritan, similar to the way the Anglicans treated them. One of the most notable examples of this institutional violence was that of Anne Hutchinson. Hutchinson was a preacher who challenged the fundamental concept of predestination, which was the principle that God had already selected those who were going to heaven and those who were going to hell. While many Puritans considered predestination to mean that they had to live a pious life in the event that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Ellen Degeneres Heritage And Clayman B) Examine how organisation of talk (Heritage Clayman) influence authenticity. Ellen DeGeneres was the 2012 recipient of the Mark Twain prize which recognises individuals who have made significant contributions to American humour. The authenticity of DeGeneres speech is explored by looking at only the extent to which the party orients to the overall structural organisation, (Dimensions of Institutional Talk in Heritage Clayman, 2010, pp. 43). DeGeneres speech follows the general conventions of an acceptance speech: showing appreciation for her recognition and the people who have given her their support; stating how honoured she is and mentioning award by name; sharing thoughts about being awarded; saying something inspiration, which in DeGeneres case, was recounting how her trials and tribulations have made her the person she is today. However, she manages to personalise her speech with her usual stream of consciousness style of delivery, bold references to her sexuality and quips that challenges the audience s expectations, thereby rendering her authentic. ... Transitions are often abrupt, such as the lines: (Money was) really all I wanted. This ah to everyone who flew out, first of all, to be here, uh uh I thank you. While these elements approximate spontaneous conversation and make her speech seem unplanned and personal in contrast to the usual concise, or otherwise stylised structuring of acceptance speeches that sound contrived, simulated or performed (Montgomery, pp. 402), it can also be argued that the tendencies identified are merely an attempt at synthetic personalisation (Fairclough cited in Montgomery, 2010, pp. 403) to index ... • 10. Character Analysis Of Ryder Wells Ryder Wells Undefinable Personality The first thing you notice about 13 year old Ryder Wells is his hair. He s got a lot of it. Dirty blond, a little curly at the end. He also wears bronzy silver amulet around his neck every day. It is from my dad s friend, who used to sell them at a local Telluride store call Picaya. • 11. Stereotypes Of Women In Beowulf As for social issues, the stereotypes of women are fairly apparent. Women seem to have a definite roles and expectations. In one instance, it is mentions in the book that women are often married off in order to settle tense relations between factions. At another level, it is also a mode of analysis and politics, committed to freeing all women of gender based oppressions (805). This ties into the theme of downplaying and obedience of women throughout the epic. There is no mention of men walking throughout the mead halls serving the other men, but Hareth s daughter took them through the hall, / Carried ale to her husband s comrades (Beowulf 1981 1982). There seems to be a de facto state of women as the lesser sex during this time. This may be due to the warrior culture that was apparent warrior culture that the characters of Beowulf lived by. Lee and Daly s essay proposes the concept of universal female subordination, of man the hunter, and woman the nurturer (30). It would be logical to assume that one explanation for the patriarchal society of Beowulf would be the warrior culture. Even in today s culture, it is not common for women to be a soldier. Lee and Daly concede that two parts are social inequality and militarism (30). This may suggest that the positions of power that militarism often grants men creates social inequality. It takes a shocking turn when she is made fun of during her youth adulthood, for have a big nose and fat legs. Futher into the poem she cut off her legs and nose and a very unusual illustration of her laying in a casket with an conclusion that express to every woman a happy ending . Within society a women desire to be flawless when it comes to looks. There s so much pressure and eagerness when it comes to a female fulfilling that image of looking like barbie. There is proof to this statement with the poet s use of irony, imagery and the impact of words having a bad outcome on the self esteem of females. Piercy s use of irony is detected within the title itself barbie doll . I envision it to revolve around the ideal barbie image alot of people make great efforts to achieve. However, this is where the true irony comes in. Barbies are popular for their unnatural slim bodies and perfect features and because they are played with by little girls, that image becomes the image teenagers and girls look for. Yet, in the poem the girl does not have barbie doll features. a fat nose on thick legs, (835) is what she was being teased about because she hit puberty. Then in the magic of puberty Puberty is when your body begins to change into an adult and there s nothing magical about that, especially for the little girl because it caused her to be teased for her appearences. In the last few lines of the poem, piercy refers to a happy ending it is a depressing thought. Consummation at last. To every woman a happy ending (24 25) is very sarcastic and pessimistic. She is basically saying that at last the end has come and its a feeling of pleasure since the girl got her wish, but at what cost did she become a barbie. The poet s use of imagery is all over the poem when we reflect on the girl childhood and how she was teased for her fat nose on thick legs she doesn t resemble a barbie doll with perfect nose and legs. Her good nature wore out like a fan belt. (15 16) There s imagery in this line because a fan belt breaks quickly when it comes in contact with oil. So the on going disapproval ... As a future educator and being in a school where these practices and techniques have been implemented, to me I feel that this teaching style has a huge impacted on how students should be taught. I believe that this trend should be continued to be used in all schools because this process really dives into the fundamentals of teaching. Most importantly, they actually enjoy school, doing their coursework, and seeing their friends. I m convinced that responsive classroom is an educational approach that benefits teachers, students, and parents by creating an inclusive atmosphere in which children can learn and thrive (Badalaty). From Gina Badalaty s experience, it is easy to see that the teaching approach in which schools use to promote learning is benefiting children in many ways. Students with dyslexia and dyscalculia also can benefit immensely from the responsive teaching approach. Dyslexic students can benefit from active teaching since the teacher presents first and then explains what was just presented. With this students with dyslexia have more time to organize, prioritize and filter new information (Stevens). Students with dyscalculia can really benefit from the student practice, instructor guided part of responsive teaching. Being divided into three sections such as Sport Recreation (elite class), Rocks Rawhide in Rural Society (lower class) and the title itself Judas at the Jockey Club. Beezley covers the changing class of Mexico through the view of sports and leisure activities. I believe Porfirio Diaz allowed the social tensions to occur causing Mexicans to separate from unity even though destruction and chaos reigned much of Mexico before him. During the presidency of Porfirio Diaz its often remembered as a period of oppression and social degradation of freedoms in Mexico. Diaz has also been associated with the general decline of quality of life of an average Mexican and the decline of social welfare institutions. Diaz was a liberal whose sole goal was to modernize Mexico and put a stop to any ethnic uncivilized actions. Mexico during that time was in a crossroads of two very different cultures: the industrial and the traditional. This separation in cultures impacting Mexico can be described as backwards in a sense because the world around them was moving on to bigger and better things. Each member of Psychology 101 Group 14 was required to take the OCEAN Big Personality Quiz, and then compare the results to the other members of the team. Then after looking at the results individual members compared their scores to their Zodiac signs to see if they could identify similarities. To begin, while looking at our comparatives scores of the OCEAN Big 5 Personality quizzes, we found that a few group members were similar, although there was many differences in the group too. For example, Gabe and Damon were similar in Openness, with a score of 41 and 35 respectively. On the other hand, Socoro and Vivianna were outliers in the group, with Vivianna having a score of 5, and Socoro with a score of 59. We believe while the scores are closely related, our reasons for being close together in Openness value more shows the debate between nature vs nurture. Friedman also suggested that according to him the shareholder theory in terms of socially responsible can only increase the profit. But on the other hand shareholder theory of Edward Freeman completely support the theory of shareholder towards its role to be socially responsible in the society and maximising the profits for the benefits of shareholders within the firms and society as well (Freeman 2008 pp. 162 165). The theory of labour demand explains the behaviour of the firm with the key principle being to achieve the optimal amounts of labour employers will want to utilise at different wage levels. We must make several assumptions when describing how the long run labour demand is derived. Firstly we must assume that firms are profit maximisers and therefore will attempt always to minimise any costs incurred. Further assumptions to simplify analysis of labour demand are that there are no costs of employment other than hourly wages and productivity of labour is independent of time worked. I.e. However, it would not be until thousands of years later that a highly unique and successful tribe would form, known as the Sami. While many Sami have assimilated into modern European culture, central traits still exists within this indigiouns group native to the Sapmi region. Some Sami still practice modes of subsistence, systems of marriage, kinship, social organization, and religion common to their ancestors. However, today, the Sami are faced with social issues distinct from those of their predesesors, such as pressures to conform to modern society, economic struggles, and in some cases, loss of community. It is important to evaluate both the past and present defining characteristics of the Sami peoples to fully understand their culture. One of the most well known characterisitics of the Sami is their skill in reindeer pastoralism. Though, pastoralism was not their initial mode of substiance, instead, the Sami began as a hunter gatherer society. As northern Europe is subject to extreme and lengthy winters, the Sami caught and harvested what they could. Two of the things constantly mentioned are the Federal Loyalty Security Program and the House Un American Activities Committees. Alexander Stafford, author of the article The Role of the Media During the Cold War, describes the effects of McCarthyism. Stafford explains how McCarthyism originated and how its negative connotation is the perfect example of corrupted power. This article fails to point out how exactly McCarthy abused his power over the people however. It shows how the senator became the public figure for fighting the red scare. The use of print with easily de codable and emotive images helped to redefine national identity as a virtuous and patriotic America, against a dangerous and destructive socialist east. The media distributed extreme propagandist slogans such as Better Dead than Red! This type of politicized propaganda served to cause hysteria over communism and nuclear war (Bernhard). It worked to subdue any domestic sympathy for the enemy or resistance to the conflict that usually occurs during war. It was a calculated action to maintain public antagonism towards the enemy and rejection of their political and economic policies. The media extended the propaganda to every aspect of western life, from radio, film, television and print to even schools. The film Red Nightmare was taught as part of the standard curriculum and is evidence of the media providing state sanctioned indoctrination of the populace. This act of media manipulation to create mass fear and paranoia cannot be undervalued, it was the conscious effort of the powerful to marginalize unpopular opinion and spread the dominant agenda. It also assisted in the solidification and polarization of cultural differences and reinforced political ideology ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Search terms (1 word term plus a 2 word term) 1 word term: Chemotherapy 2 word term: Childhood Cancer 2. • 34. Reflective Essay On Academic Performance This most recent semester at Saint Joseph s University was not the best for me personally and academically. I struggled academically this semester due to a few personal incidents in my life as well as my own reaction to the slightest bit of failure. A week before fall break, both of my cousins were in a severe car accident in delaware. I found out right before an english quiz and went after i took the quiz. Over that friday and the weekend proceeding it, I was helping my aunt and uncle with anything they needed while they waited in the hospital. Two days later I found out one of my two cousins that were in that car accident passed away. The funeral arrangements were set during the weekend before fall break. That time and the week after were very tough emotionally for me and I was able to talk about it to my therapist near campus but it affected me for quite some time afterwards. After then a couple of my grades came back from after fall break that were very poor. This was due to my own complacent attitude beforehand and afterwards I panicked. I did not react properly to my own slight failures in the academic realm and with that my personal care fell apart as well. Around the middle of November, I went to Lakenau Medical center because I was passing a kidney stone. I was not taking care of myself physically and it affected my academic performance. I was not able to dig myself out of my academic hole by the time finals came around and that leads us to where I am right now, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Essay about Back Bay Battery SIMULATION FOREGROUND READING Back Bay Battery, Inc. Overview The battery industry is enormous, with worldwide revenues of approximately $45 billion. It is highly fragmented with at least 20 major manufacturers in each technology segment. Because of the wide range of applications of batteries, companies have tended to specialize in a particular technology or market application. Disposable batteries, such as the widely available carbon zinc and alkaline cells, are available in standard sizes such as AA, C, and D, and they are a fast moving consumer good category with emphasis on manufacturing efficiency and scale, marketing and branding, and distribution efficiency. One of the earliest forms of rechargeable battery was the wet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Interestingly, battery makers have tended to focus in relatively narrow product segments and technologies. Disposable battery makers have typically not become major players in rechargeables, and rechargeable battery manufacturers tended to stick with a particular technology or product focus (laptop computers, mobile phones, portable power tools, etc.) Back Bay Battery, Inc., in 2012 Back Bay Battery is one of over 20 major manufacturers of NiMH batteries. The field is crowded, but manufacturers have been riding rising a tide of demand from consumers for portable electrically powered devices. Though the technology is relatively mature, the company is anticipating continuing strong volume growth rates, primarily due to rapid consumer adoption. The worldwide market is projected to grow at 9.0%. Pricing pressure is significant, though, as more East Asian competitors continue to drive commoditization of NiMH cells. Back Bay s sales manager has learned to track the market pricing closely, as being out of step with the market can cause dramatic market share changes in a relatively short time. Li ion batteries have pretty much replaced NiMH in the market for laptop computer batteries. The first commercial Li ion battery was produced by Sony in 1991. Li ion batteries are favored for mobile devices because they can store a high density of energy for a given weight. They can be fabricated in many shapes, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Comparing The Third Wish And The Monkey s Paw Some people think that if they could only change one aspect of their lives, it would be perfect. They do not realize that anything that is changed could come with unintended consequences. The Monkey s Paw by W.W. Jacobs and The Third Wish by Joan Aiken both illustrate this theme. They demonstrate this by granting the main character three wishes, but with each wish that is granted, brings undesirable consequences. The main idea of this essay is to compare and contrast The Monkey s Paw and The Third Wish. Although the The Monkey s Paw and The Third Wish are both fantasies and have similar themes, they have different main characters, wishes, and resolutions. A good story, whether it is true, made up, or somewhere in between, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although regretting wishing another wish, Mr. White wishes Herbert, his son, to be alive again. Unfortunately, Mr. White realizes that Herbert will return in his mutilated form, so he quickly wishes for Herbert to return to the grave before his wife is traumatized. As Mr. White and his wife look out at an empty street, awaiting Herbert s arrival, they are heartbroken knowing that they will probably never see Herbert again. Unlike Mr. White s first wish, Mr. Peters wishes for a wife as beautiful as the forest. However, Mr. Peters apprehends that Leita, his wife, will never be satisfied being a human, because she longs to be with her swan sister. So, for his second wish, he wishes her back to swan form. Now, without Leita Mr. Peters, as well as Mr. White, is heartbroken and a lonely man, once again. Now, understanding that wishes only lead to misfortune, he decides not to use the third wish. The end of a story, when all loose ends are tied and the reader knows what happens to the character(s), can be described as the resolution. The theme of a story often goes along with the resolution as well. The Monkey s Paw resolution is rather dark. Mr. White and his wife are heartbroken staring at an empty street, knowing that they will never see their son again. The theme is if fate ruled people s lives, and those who interfere with it do to their own sorrow. Overall, The Third Wish is much more of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
