How Does Harper Lee Use Symbols In To Kill A Mockingbird
Harper Lee is a famous author who wrote To Kill A mockingbird. She uses symbolism throughout her
story. Symbolism is a literary device where the author uses an object to represent an idea. The main
symbol throughout the story is the symbol of a mockingbird. The mockingbird stands for innocence.
Harper Lee uses Tom, Atticus and Scout as mockingbirds.
First Harper Lee uses Tom as a mockingbird. Tom is a African American and haves a poor family.
Tom is a mockingbird because he haves a broken arm but yet, was convicted of choking a girl with
two hand and convicted of rape. Another reason Tom is a mockingbird is because Atticus proved he
was innocent and Tom still was convicted. Scout narrates the useless one fell off the bible on pg (225).

Atticus is a lawyer, and his family is not poor and lives in a racist neighborhood. Atticus is a
mockingbird because he doesn t harm nobody , only thing he do is his job and take care of his family.
Atticus was harassed physically and verbally for sticking up for a black man.
People in his neighborhood started to talk about him because the case he took on (tom). I wish Bob
Ewell wouldn t chew tobacco on pg (291) said Atticus. Bob spat tobacco on him because Atticus
embarrassed him by proving Tom was innocent . This shows that he was a mockingbird because he
was treated bad for doing his job in court .
The last mockingbird is scout. Scout is Atticus daughter ,Scout is also a Tom boy. She is a
mockingbird because she don t do major harm to anyone but yet, bullied because her dad is the one
that stuck up for a black man. Bob Ewell also tried to kill her but her costume saved her. Scout finch is
defending niggers said Cecil Jacobs. Cecil said this because Atticus took on Tom case. Scout is a
mockingbird because she was teased for a situation she didn t know anything about.
In conclusion Harper Lee uses Tom, Atticus, and Scout as mockingbirds. A mockingbird is a symbol
of innocence in the story to kill a mockingbird. These are people that never meant any harm to
nobody, but yet they was harmed in some

The Four Types Of Organic Molecules
An organic molecule is a molecule that must have Carbon and Hydrogen. They are important because
they act as a backbone for all living matter. Without Carbon and Hydrogen, life would not exist. A
monomer is one subunit or building block of a larger molecule. The four types of organic molecules
are carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids.
Carbohydrates have two functions which is, provides short term energy and structure in some
organisms. They have an atomic makeup of Carbon, Hydrogen, and Oxygen, with a 2:1 ratio of
Hydrogen to Oxygen. The monomer is a monosaccharide which contains a single sugar. A couple
examples of this would be glucose, fructose, and deoxyribose which is found in DNA. Yet, foods with
this monomer in it would be mostly fruits, candy, and soda. Carbohydrates also have a polysaccharide
which is a polymer made of many monosaccharides strung together. Some examples of these are
starch, glycogen, cellulose, and chitin. A starch is storage from glucose in plants(potatoes, pasta,
waffles, and toast). Glycogen is storage from glucose in animals. Cellous is structure in plants (cell
wall). Chitin is structure in animals (exoskeleton). Proteins have two main functions as well, but
which is, build a cell or body structure and control all cell and body functions. Examples of cell or
body structure is hair, muscle, bone, tendons, and skin. Examples of proteins controlling cell and body
functions are motion, support, metabolism, transport, defence, and

Emily Dickinson s A Still-Volcano-Life
Emily Dickinson, like most writers, had various styles of writing that she utilized in her work. Among
these styles was the way that she created a persona for her poems. She gave a voice to her poems
which both brought them to life and gave them meaning. Such is the case in her poem, A Still Volcano
Life. The essence of this poem is the element of surprise. Volcanos are big, beautiful creations that are
usually seen, and not heard. The dormant volcanos are sometimes ignored and treated as mountains; as
still and never changing. Emily Dickinson employs the strategy of analogy in order to compare
volcanos to women. In the time period in which Dickinson was writing, it was rare that women had a
say in public affairs, literature being one of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She made use of the fact that she knew what it was like to be a woman and injected that all throughout
both of these poems. Employing techniques such as allusion and analogies, she fights to get her points
across. Although these poems are somewhat short, there is meaning in every word that Dickinson
wrote. She exploded the confines of traditional poetry with her unconventional ways of writing, using
unusual capitalization and punctuation, and infused her work with her introspective thoughts. In both
A Still Volcano Life and I m ceded I ve stopped being Theirs, these thoughts permeate throughout.
Dickinson spent much of her time by herself, which lead to her being pensive. This is yet another
persona that is heard through her words; the voice of a thoughtful, educated and intelligent person who
is recounting the story of her life. Her words are not obvious in their meanings all of the time because
she wanted readers to really think when they read her work; her poems are riddles to be solved. She
wrote in a manner that invited a sense of intimacy with her words. The riddles that her poems are force
readers to become close to the words, to analyze them, turn them inside out to get the meaning. This is
where Dickinson s artistry shines through because she was the type of writer that could stimulate such
participation on the side of her

The End Of
This takes place after the break up I hugged Gerard a little to rough from the top of the amps. He
staggered back before shoving me away and pushing me onto the floor. We had stopped playing an I
saw Ray shoot us a WTF guys look. I felt hurt. We rolled around a bit but for different reasons. Gerard
wanted to fucking strangle me and I wanted to get him off of me. I liked him a bit but I guess he was
getting tired of the stage gay thing. He got off of me and we continued to the next song. In the whole
event he had thrown my guitar behind me. (This actually happened.) I remember that like it was
yesterday. I also remember what It was like, crying while Gerard was getting married. I remember the
breakup as well. That band meant the world to me and it was gone. Gone forever. I remember him
saying that the whole frerard thing was over. Guys, I can t keep going on with this whole My chemical
romance thing... We all stood up. Mikey s expression was unreadable and Ray looked upset. I felt
terrible. Wh what do you mean? My voice came out like if I was sick, but at that moment I felt like
throwing up. This band needs to.. I found the words and rushed them out. Gee can we talk alone? He
tensed up at the nickname but nodded. I took his hand and his expression turned dark. I pulled him
into the dressing room, locking the door. Why did you lock the door? I shrugged and he stared at me
again. What did you want to talk about? he asked me, his expression a

How Has Middle School Influenced Me
Over my life I have been influenced many times, but over the past year I have been influenced a
couple times already this year. One of the ways I have been influenced was moving from Eastside (an
elementary school) to the Middle School. Another way I have been influenced was making new
friends that had gone to a different schools then me. The last way I have been influenced was by my
family.
To move from an elementary school to a middle school it was a huge change. Such as, more
people(from different elementary schools), meaner people, new friends, new teachers, lockers, and new
school. It is the middle of the first year of middle school and I still haven t fully gotten used to it all.
Middle school has influenced me so much it has helped

Awakening Into A World Of Foul Beasts
Awakening into a world of foul beasts that hide in every corner is no easy thing for a beginner Hunter.
Don t worry, clearing the City of Yarnham in Bloodborne will be an easy thing to do once you know
where to go, how to get the checkpoints and how to defeat the bosses in Yarhnam. As soon as the
game starts, you re forced to create a contract that allows you to customize your own character to fight
against the bloodthirsty beasts of this world. There are different classes of warriors in these options,
but the most powerful to start with is the troubled past class; giving you a boost in strength and agility
in the game. Once the contract is set, head down the stairs of the clinic to find a lycanthrope. I know it
s tempting, but don t do anything, let the beast kill you. Once this happens you ll awaken in a place
called Hunter s Dream. In this place, find the messengers on the floor and choose whatever weapons
fit you best. Head back to Yosefka s Clinic through the tombstones and defeat the lycanthrope. With
your new weapons, head out to explore Yarnham. Turn right, go up the street and slay whatever
monster is in your way to acquire blood echoe. Blood echoes are the currency you will use to better
your character, making him stronger to defeat bigger beasts and improve your other stats. Keep going
until you find the ritual circle in the main city. Don t worry about missing it, you won t. Take out the
enemies on higher ground before charging in to deal with the beasts

Racial Segregation And Racial Discrimination
Race has been a major line of American society since the colonies century playing a powerful role in
the political system throughout United States government. The terminology race has been changed
repeatedly throughout history. African American history of racial segregation created a clear view of
how most racial minorities have been treated throughout history and views and differences amount
racial majority. This paper primarily focus will be the treatment or experience racial minority faced
throughout this historical revolution. African American are not the only racial minority who has been
treated inequality or racial oppression, Chinese American and Native American but African American
illustrates a direct view of racial inequality throughout history which is the reasons why this paper
focuses on African American racial inequality. During the 1700s, African who was shipped to
American were slaves. Slaves were served to white American to work on rice and sugar plantation.
African were primarily located in the south, having to deal with the racial segregation of the southern
state, passing law to separate people based on color. As Senator Barack Obama said, In the late fifties
and early sixties, a time when segregation was still the law of the land and opportunity was
systematically constricted (Obama, 2008). As a matter of fact, the term slavery was never discussed
until 1808, It were doubtless to be wished, that the power of prohibiting the importation of

The Weight Of One Of The World s Most Dominant Religions
Jesus as a Figure in History: a Wealth of Information for Those Already Informed
Jesus Christ is one of the most recognizable figures in the modern world. And the legacies of few
people have sparked as many wars, built as many nations, and changed as many individual s lives, as
Jesus of Nazareth. Understandably, scholars and spiritualists alike have striven to answer one central
question, who was this Jesus? To some, He is known as the Son of God, who overcame death and sin,
offering salvation through His resurrection for all who place their faith in him. To others, He was
merely a carpenter from the small town of Nazareth, living in the early years of the Common Era. And
trying to figure out much else about Jesus is one of the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In antiquity, historical thought was not what we would recognize as history today. Those who lived
alongside Jesus, or wrote about Him in contemporary times were not concerned so much with what
was but with what ought to have been. They wrote biographies with some sort of pre conceived
posture of who Jesus was, and molded the story to present that character. This was not seen as
dishonest in ancient times; in fact, it was considered the truest of histories.
But in the age of the Enlightenment, scholars began concerning themselves with the historical validity
of the subjects they studied. This began the first wave of historical Jesus scholarship. At this time,
various scholars became intent on discovering the historical Jesus, and began writing various works,
presented as the life of Jesus. But these writings suffered from an integral flaw, which has infected
historical Jesus scholarship until today. Rather than being works of discovery, they were truly projects.
Powell argues well, in his first chapter on the history of the historical Jesus movement, that a life of
Jesus would typically impose some grand scheme or hypothesis upon the material that allowed
everything to be interpreted in accord with a consistent paradigm... [and] exclude material in the
Gospels that did not fit with this paradigm... (Powell, 12) Powell takes a

How Changing The Speed Of A Toy Car
Paragraph 1: Me and the person i m working with, (thang) had to pick a project. So I suggested we
should drop a car down a track and see how the terrain effects the effects how long it takes the toy car
to go down the binders. We liked this idea because we could apply it to real life when you re driving
places. Also who doesn t want to play with toy cars it sounds fun. The question we are trying to
answer is how does the terrain effect the speed of a toy car. With four terrains rainy, sandy, normal,
and bumby. Changing the terrain will change the friction changing the speed of the toy car. My
independent variable is the surface the toy car is sliding down on top of the binder. Some of the
materials that will be on the binder are the following, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So changing the terrain would change the time to finish the race. The sand will cause more friction,
the dents will act like a hill and speed it up just to slow it down going up the hill. But the water would
act as a lubricant. The dependent variable is the amount of time to finish the length of the two binders
(or the race,) to track how long it takes for the car to finish the race. The reasoning why this variable is
going change is because of different amounts of friction will slow the toy car down. This is the
variable I will get my data from.the way the amount of friction affects the speed of the toy car because
the amount of friction slows the speeds of moving objects this happens because the force of friction
causes a opposes the motion of an object causing it to lose speed. The less speed the toy car has the
longer the car will take to travel the distance of the two binders.Water is a lubricant a lubricant is
something that lessens friction therefore it should make the toy car insell in speed making it go

Cosplay Imperialism
Cosplay, short for costume play , is a performance art in which people called cosplayers wear
costumes and specific accessories and props to represent or portray a specific fictional character. It is a
unique Japanese form of art which, playing upon the identificatory fantasy, it enables the western
participants to assume identities and to differentiate themselves in ways which western culture cannot.
The average cosplayer is not just putting on a costume; the experience is one of rebirth, an identity
transformation. Daniel s (2010) paper determines whether cosplay is a demonstration of cultural
imperialism of cultural hybridity. Lotecki (2012) and Hale s (2014) paper examines the creative,
emotional, social, and behavioural processes in which cosplayers participate while interpreting and
constructing their characters, including the differentiation between fiction and reality, and ... Show

help people with low self esteem by improving communication skills, creativity, and the perception of
body image.
Cosplay can increase confidence through social interaction and communication. Modern trends of
declining community interaction and a fading sense of social belonging have created gaps that fan
cultures are able to fill by providing a space for community and acceptance. Cosplay is a social
activity that takes place in specific environments, such as anime, manga, and sci fi conventions, club
meetings, karaoke events and so on. These events are socially defined sites of activity for cosplayers,
where one can find peers with similar interests, sign up in a variety of performances, and actively
participate within the community. Conventions hold certain events that are made specifically for
cosplayers: the Masquerade and the Hall Contest. Dressing up allows individuals to

Schneider, Whitehead, LoBiondo Woo, Haber (2012) propose that is it essential for midwives to

midwives have a duty to women they care for. Midwives need to care for them using the most up to

Publication
A publication can be judged in a number of ways. A rigorous selection procedure for publication of
articles, a low approval rate for manuscripts and how often the journal is cited by published scholars
in other journals; (known as the impact factor). These are all influences that lead to what is seen to be
a more superior journal. Consequently this means greater belief in the data present in the publication.
The Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) uses statistics to calculate a journal s impact factor ,
which as stated is a suggestion of the influence an article exercises on other researchers in a similar
research field (Locke, Silverman, Spirduso, 2010). Other areas that will indicate the trustworthiness of
a publication is the quality of the editorial board. A good board would consist of researchers that
belong to a university and who are experienced in the subject field of the journal (Locke, Silverman,
Spirduso, 2010). Many research journals have a

Essay Ad Management and the Recent Turmoil in Financial...
There is a need for high level of consultation, co ordination and co operation in every organization or
business. To this effect, managers all over the world are often faced with the dilemma of effectively
deploying human, material, technological, natural and financial resources to achieve desired
organizational goals and objectives.
The collapse of the financial markets, touching off reverberations in the real economy in the last
months of 2008 has inevitably been described as the worst economic catastrophe since the great
depression of the 1930s. To this effect, many observers have raised several questions such as; which
parties had a hand in the creation of the financial and emerging economic crisis? Who is to blame;
people, systems ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The misalignment of the interest of managers with those of the shareholders led to compensation
systems that emphasized on short term returns which lead to harmful behaviors like manipulation of
stock prices and excessive risk taking. This reward system encouraged high risk taking with a myopic
focus on short term revenue and even incentivized manager for their failures. A particular insight can
be drawn from the United Bank of Switzerland (UBS) report of 2008 which showed how employees
were compensated with strong incentives to use UBS capital to invest in high yielding mortgage
backed securities. Whilst this was, they failed to provide sufficient incentives to protect the company,
hence, mismatching priorities. This would not have proved costly if only the senior managers of the
firm were wise enough to put in place strong risk measurement and control system.
Another issue, particularly in the line of managing objectives and misalignment of incentive structure
is that of the two major financial institutions in the US; Federal National Mortgage Association
(Fannie Mae) and Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac). These institutions,
although government sponsored to stabilize the housing and mortgage market in the US, but also

Great Palace In Constantinople Analysis
The second mosaic image from the Great Palace in Constantinople (500AD) is a very absorbing piece
that brings up many questions when you first look at it. Because Constantinople had a strong tie with
Chariot Racing, specifically at the Circus of Constantinople in the 6th century, it can be assumed that
this image has a connection to that. The first link is the two legs that look like horse hooves in the top
right area of the image, although you cannot tell for sure because the image is cut off. Another
association is the palm branches off to the right, which were a staple in Chariot races as one of the
prizes the victors would be able to hold and wear. The fact that there is a lot of empty space in the
middle signifies that this place had an area which the horses would be able to run the races. ... Show

The wheels the two males are pushing or moving in the image could very well be chariot wheels, and
it is also a possibility that the man on the right is wheeling out replacement wheels as the one on the
left is taking in the damaged ones, or perhaps the man on the right is wheeling out something to bring
back the charioteers body on. Although there is certainly more evidence for helpers on the track that
assisted in clearing up crashes, which this definitely could be an example of, I don t think that we
should discredit the fact that this could also be men assisting in a wheel change, similarly to what
happens in Formula One Racing, and the post could have very likely been a station that held each
racers replacement parts. This is the main struggle when interpreting images such as these with no real
inscriptions and pieces missing. One can never truly know what exactly an image is showing, and
there could be many variables as to what the artist was trying to

National Curriculum Of Physical Education
Smith (1991) explains that the way in which the pupils understand the value and purpose of PE may
influence the way in which the lesson is delivered and what pupils achieve. Papaioannou and

see the lesson objectives and learning outcomes as purposeful.
Pupils who don t understand the benefits of PE and therefore don t value it are likely to not participate

What features of the graph would you need for the expected proportionality to be verified? In other
words, what should the graph look like to verify the inverse square law? (2 marks) The inverse square
law states, that the intensity of the luminosity is inversely proportional to the square of the distance
from the source. The graph would require features such as; evidence that the increase in distance away
from the source results in the reduction of light exposure as well as, the contrast between the

Ultimately, we may have collected inaccurate data due to the excess of light. The instrument used to

Christianity And Religion In Beowulf And The Canterbury Tales
Throughout the Middle Ages, religion was a major theme in the literature of that time. Works such as
Beowulf and The Canterbury Tales are examples of this theme in action, but in very different ways.
God is seen purely as goodness in Beowulf, and everything that God approves of is good as well.
Contrarily, The Canterbury Tales satirizes religion by showing members of the church in a negative
manner and debating the teachings of the Bible, the latter particularly in The Wife of Bath s Prologue.
Despite these different takes on Christianity, the characters in both stories sin, yet are defended. Both
Beowulf and The Wife of Bath s Prologue contain different defenses of the protagonist s sin, to
varying degrees of success.
Beowulf s sins revolve around personality traits, namely his boastfulness and greed, however the
author does not acknowledge this sin. First and foremost, it must be made clear that these sins truly
exist in Beowulf and are in opposition to Christian morals, regardless of whether or not the author
condemns them. Upon his arrival in Heorot, Beowulf s conversation with Unferth demonstrates how
his pride and boastfulness is integral to his reputation. Unferth asks, Are you the Beowulf who took on
Breca / in a swimming match on the open sea, / risking the water just to prove that you could win? / It
was sheer vanity made you venture out / on the main deep, (Beowulf 506 510). Considering that this is

Autism In Autistic Children
Disorders bring along a lot of other factors, like, the mental trauma in parents worrying for their kids
and a child missing out on the normal living like many other children of his/her age live. Therapies are
invented by the specialists especially for the kids affected by various disorders, but these can make a
difference to them only if they are handled with care and affection.
Precautions are always better to stay away from any kind of health related issues, but what can one do
if the disorder or the disability in an individual appears during pregnancy, while birth or after birth.
Physical disabilities can be recognized immediately so as to be rectified, but mental disabilities would
take time to get cured, as it is not all that easy to handle the mental related issues in a child since it can

The Hurricane Movie Essay
Norman Jewison s Movie The Hurricane
The problem of racial discrimination has been portrayed in many films in the last 15 years. However,
The Hurricane does a masterful job at addressing this issue, and will leave audience members
clenching their fists in anger at the injustice that happened to a man named Rubin Hurricane Carter.
The movie demonstrates the racial inequity that can be found in our judicial system through the
impressive acting by Denzel Washington and the direction of Norman Jewison. The Hurricane makes
you wonder who else has been wrongfully accused in the past 30 years.
The Hurricane creates moments of amazing heartfelt punches dealt by Denzel Washington (Rubin
Hurricane Carter), Vicellous Reon Shannon (Lezra ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He then pores over documents about his case and compiles them into a book. The manuscript then
lands in the hands of Lezra Martin. Moved by Rubin s words, Lezra makes it his mission and the
mission of his three Canadian friends to bring justice for the Hurricane .
At his weakest hour Rubin finds hope via these four newfound friends. Through the support of the
Canadians along with the legal work of two volunteer lawyers they take Rubin s case to the New
Jersey Supreme Court. After 20 years, of wrongful imprisonment, Rubin Hurricane Carter is restored.
The film s powerful message comes alive through its main actor s magnificent performances and the
anger and frustration that they evoke. In particular, Denzel Washington proved this throughout the film
with his representation of Rubin Carter. He is known for films and works such as: Glory, The Pelican
Brief, Philadelphia, Courage Under Fire, and a new must see release Remember the Titans. The
Hurricane is no exception for his list of stellar performances. However, aside from Denzel Washington
s stunning portrayal, the other actors are one sided and faceless. Vincent Della Pesca (Dan Hedaya)
establishes himself throughout the film as an evil presence with an insane desire to put Rubin behind
bars. His motivation is left to the imagination of the audience. This antagonist appears to be self
motivated without any clear sense of

The Human Mind In George Eliot s I Grant You Ample Leave
Imagine a person is asked to flip a coin. He is given three chances to guess whether the coin will land
on heads or tails. The first two flips, he guesses heads and both times the coin lands on tails. Certainly
the third time, the guesser believes, the coin must land on heads. He follows his instinct, and he is
wrong again. This scenario is just one example of the human mind attempting to impose a pattern on a
random phenomenon. People love patterns and order, so we create societies, institutions, and artificial
concepts like time. The human brain sees a man on the moon and seeks out information confirming its
hypotheses (and ignores support for the oppositions). George Eliot critiques this beneficial, but also
limiting, skill of the human mind. In I Grant You Ample Leave, she argues that humans perceive
pattern and connection where there is none. Line 6 of I Grant You Ample Leave asserts that You link
false inference with, the Since so (Eliot, 6). Within these few words, Eliot describes her audience with
an emphatic pronoun. She then retains her audience s attention using unorthodox styles such as
enjambment and blank verse. Finally, she employs a logogram, the ampersand, as a symbol of her
poem s argument.
With the first word of the line You, Eliot yanks the reader s attention to who her audience is. The
reader s eyes drift calmly from the end of the previous line to be startled by the capitalized and
enjambed pronoun You. Eliot capitalized the first

The 1990 s Take Off and Beyond
The early 1990s is when the modern day began. In 1992, and Oxford University computer scientists
named Tim Berners Lee developed the World Wide Web. This was a data sharing space that anyone
with an internet connection can access. Not just government research centers and scientists with
access to top of the of the line equipment. As the 1990 s continued, the Internet continued to globalize.
In 1992, Erwise was the first successful Internet browser due to the graphical user interface software it
supplied. Erwise paved the way for Mosaic and eventually Netscape which accounted for 90 percent
of all internet browsing activity. As the Internet started to grow faster, companies such America Online
and Compuserve offered Internet through a dial up network connection. This allowed anyone with a
home phone line access to the Internet. The Internet was now expanding into residential homes and

The Influence Of Physically Abusive Relationships
How to tell if you re in an emotionally abusive relationship. First off you need to realize that not all
abusive relationships are physically, emotionally abusive relationships are a very real thing. 1. Your
spouse or significant other find pleasure in humiliating you or embarrassing you constantly and
continues even after multiple pleas to stop. When going out with friends they make you the joke,
weather they are making fun of your appearance or how you act, it makes you feel like you must
change for them. They are just a bully. 2. No matter what you re doing, they constantly put you down,

break something. You end up apologizing for a fight, they started, or worse. These are all big factors in
determining if you re in an abusive relationship. They are a real thing, take it from someone who
knows. So what can you do if you are in one? 1. Get out of it. As fast and as soon as possible, the
scary thing about emotionally abusive relationships is they eventually turn into physically abusive
relationships. 2. Cut them off, block them on everything, move out, get rid of their stuff, and do not
contact them. 3. Go to therapy and yes, it may sound weird, but most abusive relationships leave you
feeling worthless and you will eventually go back to that chaos or find a worse one without mental
help. 4. If they begin to threaten you or stalk you, get a hold of the police and file a restraining order if
necessary. 5. Move on, you may have thought you loved them, but they have brainwashed you into
thinking that how they treated you was okay. IT S NOT OKAY. Find someone who can understand
what you ve been through and help you recover. 6. Remember, it s not your fault, they manipulate you

The Death Penalty And The Fifth Amendment Summary
In the article The Death Penalty and the Fifth Amendment written by Joseph Blocher, several concepts
surrounding the death penalty and its relation to the Fifth Amendment. Blocher is a law professor at
Duke University. His academic interests include constitutional law, the First and Second Amendments,
capital punishment, and property rights.
Blocher notes a particular argument: the death penalty must be constitutional because the Fifth
Amendment clearly allows it. However, Blocher takes a side on the issue and explains reasons why
this is not necessarily true. One of those reasons is that the death penalty was allowed and
constitutional at the time the Constitution was being written. The author comes to the conclusion that
there may be good arguments for the constitutionality of the death penalty, but the Fifth Amendment is
not one of them. Throughout the article Blocher explains his reason for believing that the Fifth
Amendment does not supply enough evidence to support the use of the death penalty. However,
Blocher also includes evidence that supports opinions that people who disagree with him may have.
He writes: Justice Scalia argued that the Fifth Amendment afforded a textual basis for the capital
punishment s continued constitutionality: The reason is obvious: It is impossible to hold
unconstitutional that which the Constitution explicitly contemplates. The Fifth Amendment provides
that [n]o person shall be held to answer for a capital . . . crime, unless on a

Importance Of Social Location
In sociology, social location is defined as the spaces that people occupy due to their location in
society, which also refers to how groups in a society experience the interactive effects of intersecting
social hierarchies. In other words, social location is the sum effect of various factors, including social
class, race, gender, and geographic location on an individual s experience, life chances and worldview.
Like most people, my social location is greatly affected by the intersection of my race, gender, social
class, however, what contributed the most to my social location is my family, especially my mother.
The reason I choose my mother as a determining factor of my social location is because of the fact that
my social class as of now is based on that of the value my mother has given me. To my point of view,
the environment that one s growing up plays a great role in shaping one s identity. My mother spent
most of her life with her mother who had been divorced by her husband when she was still very
young. As the only workforce of her family, started working as a laborer in farms, where she had to
compete with strong male workers, in 1970s after the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution in China,
where farmers gains were based on their labor force. Then she got married to my father, who had five
younger siblings and disabled parent, in 1987. The upward intergenerational mobility that my mother
has experienced had shaped her worldview. Although she had been through all

How Is The Monster A Monster
The drama filled novel, Monster, by Walter Dean Myers begins with the main character, Steve
Harmon, sitting in his jail cell awaiting his trial in court. His possible sentencing is Twenty five years
to life in prison. Steve is only sixteen years old, so one can only imagine how terrified he must be. To
deal with his trial as well as the viciousness of prison, Steve records his experience in a journal in the
form of a screen play. The case is about a crime that was committed a few days before Christmas in
which a drugstore owner, Alguinaldo Nesbitt was robbed and brutally murdered. Four main witnesses
are called to the stand to give their testimonies. Richard Bobo Evans, a known thug in the
neighborhood (who was already doing time for selling drugs) admits that he has known James King

This is when Steve writes in his journal his thoughts about the events that take place in court, as well
as thoughts about himself. The question that disturbs him most is: Am I truly a monster? He is
depicted as a monster by some of the witnesses in court, and he believes the jury and even his own
lawyer sees him as a monster as well.
Nonetheless, the trial does come to an end with verdicts that prove James King guilty and Steve not
guilty. He is thrilled that he is found innocent, but five months later Steve is still troubled about who
he really is. He seeks answers by continuing to record his thoughts, filming himself, and examining
his reflection in the mirror.
The major theme surrounding Monster is awareness. This theme can be easily compared in several of
the actual recognized, American literary works. In nearly every novel that we have read, the main
character has encountered experiences that have changed his or her outlook on life as a whole or a
certain aspect of life in some significant

The performances also play a crucial role. Matthew McConaughey performance work excels with a
demanding part that asks him to do a little bit of everything: action heroics, a commanding presence,

In Nolan s work, AI is subservient to man, and does more than just aid him in his quest. In fact,
mankind as a whole is saved more than once by the onboard bots that resemble Kubrick s monolith in
shape and form. It is my contention that the film advocates a form of transhumanism, where the
mysterious they are not just the humans of the future as Cooper states, but advanced AI human hybrids
of the future. Several clues are given to support this thesis. First, the beginning of the film shows the
museum footage of Murphy and the elderly recounting history on smaller versions of what look like
monolithic bots. Just as the monolith bots store the history of man, they store the history of Murph and
Cooper, as demonstrated when Cooper is in the Tesseract. Second, when the drone lands and Cooper
and Murphy are discussing harnessing it, Murphy gives a big clue no one seems to have picked up on,
pleading, It isn t hurting anyone, can t we let it go? Murph speaks of the old Indian Air Force drone as
if it were alive. Third, when Cooper passes the event horizon having travelled beyond space and time,
the means by which humanity will transcend those final boundaries is revealed as the agents who, like
angelic guardians throughout the film, consistently save the humans. Just as the solution to the
problem of gravity was only achieved by both

Heathcliff are one in the same. He manages to wish her great pain while still mournful and distraught
over the idea of her impending death. Heathcliff hates Catherine for what she did to him but at the

Understanding Child and Young Person s Development
Unit 3 Understand Child and Young Person s Development
All children are unique and a lot of their developmental milestones happen naturally as they get older,
however some can be affected by different life factors, such as health, environment and background
and more specific skills can be learnt and encouraged. There is an expected pattern of development
but all children are individual and therefore the rate will vary.
There are four categories of development:
Physical Development (Birth 1 year) The development of control over one s own body in both gross
and fine motor skills is the infant s primary physical task, culminating toward the end of the first year
in walking.

The child evaluates their worth by their ability to perform. Self esteem is largely derived from one s
perceived abilities.
(12 19 years) The early adolescent is strongly identified with the peer group. They depend upon their
peers for emotional stability and support and to help mould their emerging identity. Self esteem is
greatly affected by acceptance of peers.
Adolescents will suffer frequent mood swings. They are very vulnerable to emotional stress.
Factors that affect development:
Diet
A child s diet makes a difference to growth and well being. A good diet makes a difference to a child s
ability to concentrate and therefore to learn.
Sleep
Sleep is important to a child s development. It is vital for cognitive function and growth to take place.
Tiredness will affect a child s relationships with other as they will be unable to control their emotions
and behaviour.
Stimulation
Stimulation is vital in all age groups in order for their brain to develop and to create opportunities to
physically use their body. Children will achieve these by playing, trying new tastes, meeting others
and learning new skills.

1993, these problems caused the worst sales slump in decades, and the luxury carmaker lost money for

system complexity, and established simultaneous engineering programs with suppliers.

For example, many automotive experts believed the superior handling of MB products resulted from
manufacturing the best automobile chassis in the world. Thus, each class within the MB line met strict
standards for handling, even though these standards might exceed customer expectations for some
classes. MB did not use target costing to produce the lowest price vehicle in an automotive class. The
company s strategic objective was to deliver products that were slightly more expensive than
competitive models. However, the additional cost would have to translate into greater perceived value
on the part of the customer.
Throughout the project realization phase, the vehicle (and vehicle target cost) remained alive because
of changing dynamics. For example, the market moved toward the luxury end of the spectrum while
the AAV was under development. In addition, crash test results were incorporated into the evolving
AAV design. For these reasons, MB found it beneficial to place the design and testing team members
in close physical proximity to other functions within the project to promote fast communication and
decision making. Sometimes new technical features, such as side air bags, were developed by MB.
The decision to include the new feature on all MB lines was made at the corporate level because
experience had shown that customers reactions to a vehicle class can affect the entire brand.

The Railroad Earth Summary
In the poem The RailRoad Earth Jack Kerouac, a pioneer of the Beat Generation, narrates his daily life
as a railroad worker in the 1960 s. He begins his story in an alley behind the Southern Pacific Station
anticipating the coming commuter frenzy at the station. He offers a unique perspective as a bystander
that looks upon the city and the two conflicting cultures that divide it. He puts on display not just the
everyday hustle and bustle of corporate America, but exposes the low down and dirty underbelly of
the city. He uncovers a layer to the city that is deeper than its corporates exterior. One of poverty and
hopelessness that swallows the city like a pothole yet ultimately lets light to a valuable idea of
freedom and self expression. In his poem The RailRoad Earth , Kerouac presents the real San
Francisco. He disregards the city s fancy and sophisticated corporate image that many believe it to be
for the real and raw, poverty stricken city it is.
In fact the corporate exterior is composed of commuters, who are not native to the city, while the soul
of the city lies in the hands of the homeless and low income people of color who actually live there.
These commuters are businessmen who come from the railroad earth , the outside lands connected to
the city by the railroad. The men of the railroad earth manifested in San Francisco because of the

Imagine every night being the blackest of nights, where even the police do not stop the criminals
lurking in the corners. This is the world in Anthony Burgess s A Clockwork Orange, where a
dystopian society in which juvenile delinquents roam free to terrorize the night is chronicled. Your
Humble Narrator, Alex DeLarge, is a member of this appalling culture of teenagers. Over the course of
the novel, he performs unspeakable acts of ultraviolence with his droogs, which land him behind bars
in Staja, the state jail, for a prescribed fourteen years. After failing to reform, Alex receives an
experimental corrective cure called Ludovico s Technique, which induces a vicious physical reaction
to acts of violence. When finally healed of his violent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Alex DeLarge displays immorality through flagrant acts of evil, the Minister of the Interior
takes a more subtle approach with his wrongdoings. The curing of delinquents by Ludovico s
Technique is the primary action that presents the Minister s immorality. Although the citizens in the
dystopia believe the new method will aid in criminals reform, it is clearly only a tactic for the Minister
of the Interior to regain his position in the government by netting public support. The reform is so
heavily advertised that Alex refers to the newspaper as the Government paper. While reading he sees
the policy for what it really is, which is portrayed by, ...it was this Minister of Inferior or Interior. It
seemed that he had been doing a bit of boasting, looking forward to a nice crime free era... (Burgess
149). It is fitting that one of the Minister s victims would be one to see through the man s façade of
morality. The fake guise put on to fool the public into support is a clear example of The Minister of
the Interior s immorality. Between Alex s heinous acts and the Governments clear lies, human
immorality is an obvious theme in this novel. The theme of fate also makes an indistinguishable
appearance in A Clockwork Orange, which is brought to life by the outcomes of Alex DeLarge s
raucous life. The first demonstration of fate is the result Alex s criminal

Symptoms And Treatment Of Psychosis
Typical and Atypical Medication
The first major development in the treatment of psychosis was first generation antipsychotics, which is
known as typical antipsychotics (Guzman Farinde, 2015). In essence, these medications are used to
treat schizophrenia and other associated psychotic disorders. In additions, some of the medications of
the first generation include Haldol, loxitane, orap, mellaril, navane, and trilafon to name a few.
Furthermore, these antipsychotics are considered cheaper than the second generation antipsychotics,
which make them valuable when treating psychotic disorders. Lieberman, Stroup, MsEvoy, Swartz,
Rosenheck, Perkins, and Hsiao (2005) describe the first generation as the best treatment for psychotic
symptoms, because the dopamine receptors elevate similarity in antagonists. The second generation
antipsychotics are consider more effective when it involves serotonin blockers and construct different
levels of blockade in dopamine (Preston, O Neal, Talaga, 2013). In addition, second generation
antipsychotics, which are also called atypical, are prescribe to clients, because they can tolerate them
especially when they decrease certain side effects. Moreover, atypical medication decrease
neuroanatomical changes lessen symptoms that are negative, and enhance cognition. Some of the
second generation medication includes ziprasidone, olanzapine, paliperdone, and clozapine.

Imagined Community, Orientalism and Moral Panic Concepts
Imagined community, Orientalism and Moral Panic Concepts, underlying Post 9/11 US Presidential
Speeches Introduction George W. Bush s administration and American mass media mounted a
sustained project in post 9/11 era to save US intact identity and delegitimize critical thoughts about
Middle East, Islam and Arabs. This project was implemented by inducing a picture of Self or White as
of Americans versus Others as of Arabs and Muslims. In the project, American society is surrounded
by borders being threatened by Others . Therefore, perceived threat and heightened security alerts
abound in daily media coverage and also political speeches of G.W. Bush and his supporters in this

He frames the sketch of this imagined community of civilization through Orientalism concept, where
the superior civilized world is being threatened by enemies . As he puts it, this Civilization will be
defended by We who are waging a war to save it. Therefore, the two actors are the traditional
components of us and them , as can be deduced from the following statements by him: Every civilized
nation here today is resolved to keep the most basic commitment of civilization: We will defend
ourselves and our future against terror and lawless violence (Bush, 11 November 2001). As stated
earlier, the members of an imagined community must share common interests. Interestingly, Bush
implies that universally accepted standards of humanity and war on terror are two common interests of
members of this civilized world : The civilized world is now responding. We act to defend ourselves
and deliver our children from a future of fear. We choose the dignity of life over a culture of death. We
choose lawful change and civil disagreement over coercion, subversion and chaos. These
commitments hope and order, law and life unite people across cultures and continents (Bush, 11
November 2001). Orientalism and imagined communities concepts are also embodied in Bush s State
of Union speech in 2002, where he again uses the term Civilized world at the beginning of his speech:
The civilized world faces unprecedented danger. Yet, the state of Union has never been

Bystander Effect Research Paper
While couples are waiting anxiously for Valentine s Day to spend it with the ones they love, Nikolas
Cruz was waiting on that day for something else.
On February 14 2018, Broward Police Department received a call notifying a school shooting at
Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland Florida. 19 year old Nikolas Cruz went into the
high school with an AR 15 killing 17 people and injuring others. Although others were familiar with
the things that he posted no one stepped up to say anything. Nikolas had been giving numerous hints
of his fascination with guns, yet none of the police officers bothered to pay attention to the reports
they got about him. Cruz was a former student that got expelled for disciplinary reasons (Florida
School). Many believe that the hatred from being expelled the was his last motivation to go to the
school and express his rage.

This may happen for the reason known as diffusion of responsibility . Psychologists have proven that
people are less likely to intercede in a situation if there are more people present. For example, John
Darley and Bibb Latane have done many experiments proving the bystander effect. One experiment is
called The Smoke Filled Room Experiment where they take in random person and put a smoke
machine in another room. Darley and Latane put more people in the same room that the targeted
person is in and turn on the smoke machine. They observe if the targeted person will react if nobody
else does. Almost every time the targeted person would look around to see if anybody was doing
anything, notice that the others didn t react, and stay seated knowing that their life could be in danger.
Furthermore, people always depend on someone else to make the first decision before following after
them. This evidence is proof of the psychological phenomenon of Bystander

This approach to risk assessment is amplified by Joseph and Dianne Devanney (2002),
It is not enough to just design pleasant and attractive surroundings. In developing the necessary
proactive protections against lawsuits, everyone has to be as diUgent as possible and try to foresee
how the design could lead to accidents. Other articles also recommend that course owners put out
highly visible signs in areas where golf cart users must, cross public roadways or make slow turns, etc.
Make sure you have great signage and poUce it, he says. If you see someone violating that rule, stop
them and get them out of the cart.
The attorneys dted also mentioned incidences where golf carts have been struck by automobiles with
the parties being severely injured. Such situations can create catastrophic liability exposures for a golf
course. If they have golf cart paths that cross public roadways, they really need to be well marked
rumble sticks, stop signs. Golf clubs really need to do a good job making that a more defensible
situation.
Safety measure implementation and recent areas of injury

American history it was know as the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire. It was a disaster that took the lives of
146 young immigrant workers. A fire that broke out in a cramped sweatshop that trapped many inside
and killed 146 people.

As well as this exert from My First Job by Rose Cohen, Seven o clock came around and everyone

Frankenstein Vensor Frankenstein And The Modern Prometheus...
Titan or Theif In Greek Mythology, there is a tale where a Titan named Prometheus stole fire from the
gods and put it in the clay to make man. Like in the Greek Mythology, Mary Shelley has Victor
Frankenstein steal life from nature. As Mary Shelley states in the title of her book Frankenstein, or the
Modern Prometheus, she parallels Victor Frankenstein to the Titan Prometheus. As Mary Shelley
states in Frankenstein the pursuit of unknown knowledge is dangerous. So much has been done... I
will pioneer a new way, explain unknown powers, and unfold to the world the deepest mysteries of
creation( Chapter 3). . This quote means that Victor wants to explore dangerous areas that should not

Prometheus punishment for stealing fire from the Greeks Gods was an eternal hell where a bird will
rip out his liver daily for eternity. For Victor Frankenstein, his punishment was similar to Prometheus
s. For Victor Frankenstein, his punishment was similar to Prometheus s. He too suffered daily as a
reminder of what he did. Victor Frankenstein s punishment is also similar to Prometheus because he
too has something ripped away from him. Prometheus had his liver ripped away and Victor
Frankenstein had his love ones taken away from him. Both Prometheus and Victor Frankenstein suffer
by playing God, . Prometheus crafts man while Victor crafts the daemon. In Paradise Lost by John
Milton, Satan and his legion of followers were cast out of Heaven and put into Hell. Satan was cast
out because he challenged the authority of God. Like Victor Frankenstein and Prometheus the Titan,
Satan did something that caused him to lose his title. Victor Frankenstein was a smart young man that
had a lot of promise and potential. He lost all of it because he tampered with nature s authority.
Prometheus was a powerful Titan that stole the right to make life from Zeus; he too stole the power
from a higher authority. All three characters, Satan, Prometheus, and Victor, ended up in their own
personal Hell. For Satan, he was thrown out of Heaven and was chained to the burning lake in Hell.

What Is The Strategic Management Of Tesco
The retail sector dealing in food and drink reflects the largest industry operating in the United
Kingdom through which more than two million people are provided with employment in production,
manufacturing, and retailing. Recently, the UK supermarkets have increased the scrutiny related to
their treatment of suppliers apart from the fact that the strategic supply networks are still considered as
the important element of supermarket strategies. For the purpose of this paper, Tesco is selected for
the analysis of strategic management using some of the models or frameworks (Ndungu, 2014). The
paper is providing a detailed insight into the selected supermarket emphasising on the external
environment analysis along with the analysis of the organisation s resources and competence. The
future strategic options are also suggested for the Tesco regarding its resource based strategies.

The most influential factors on the economic aspect include the higher levels of unemployment due to
which the effective demand for products may decline and further influencing the demand required for
production of products and services. These economic factors are beyond control of the organisation
but the influence on performance and the marketing mix can be observed. It is obvious that the
international business is increasing and it is expected to contribute sufficient amounts to the profits of
Tesco over next few years. Considering all such aspects, the organisation is found to be highly
dependent on the market of the Unite Kingdom. Therefore, Tesco would be adversely influenced by
any sort of decline in the food market of the United Kingdom leading to the exposure to the market

Cold War And Communism Essay
The collapse of both the Soviet Union and socialism was a ceremony, yet to others, it was a failure. To
the everyday people who wanted rights to express, to live their life independent, and to vote, this was
a great accomplishment. To the individuals who were with the power, who did not oppose to such
policies, they remained oppressed by so a fall, especially communist bureaucrats. This large fall was
the origin of the ending of the Cold War. That was an ending to multiple catastrophic incidents that got
a point during, before, and later the Cold War. There are many cases to why the Soviet Union and
socialism in East Europe fell. The three top reasons were, the first being the Soviet s economic decline
from military spending, another being Gorbachev s perestroika and glasnost methods, and the three
being some neighboring nations of the Soviet Union were quickly facing socialism and taking fighting
against their regime. All these matters slowly and eventually led to the crumbling of the Soviet Union
and socialism in Eastern Europe. The Cold War began as tension arose due to the political competence
of communism versus democracy during the post war ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These objectives changed the lives of many people. The lives of many Eastern Europeans was never
pleasant during the Cold War, for it was regulated and restricted by communists who were fixed on
developing such a system throughout the world. The Soviet Union needed to reach an extent wherever
they were the only leaders and always in control. It is maybe due to this wish and wants that their
policies and system, in the end, are lost. The Soviet s economic decline due to military spending,
Gorbachev s perestroika and glasnost management, and the quick opposing of surrounding nations of
the Soviet Union toward their government were the primary causes of the death of communism in
Eastern Europe and the dissolving of the Soviet

  • 2. How Does Harper Lee Use Symbols In To Kill A Mockingbird Harper Lee is a famous author who wrote To Kill A mockingbird. She uses symbolism throughout her story. Symbolism is a literary device where the author uses an object to represent an idea. The main symbol throughout the story is the symbol of a mockingbird. The mockingbird stands for innocence. Harper Lee uses Tom, Atticus and Scout as mockingbirds. First Harper Lee uses Tom as a mockingbird. Tom is a African American and haves a poor family. Tom is a mockingbird because he haves a broken arm but yet, was convicted of choking a girl with two hand and convicted of rape. Another reason Tom is a mockingbird is because Atticus proved he was innocent and Tom still was convicted. Scout narrates the useless one fell off the bible on pg (225). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Atticus is a lawyer, and his family is not poor and lives in a racist neighborhood. Atticus is a mockingbird because he doesn t harm nobody , only thing he do is his job and take care of his family. Atticus was harassed physically and verbally for sticking up for a black man. People in his neighborhood started to talk about him because the case he took on (tom). I wish Bob Ewell wouldn t chew tobacco on pg (291) said Atticus. Bob spat tobacco on him because Atticus embarrassed him by proving Tom was innocent . This shows that he was a mockingbird because he was treated bad for doing his job in court . The last mockingbird is scout. Scout is Atticus daughter ,Scout is also a Tom boy. She is a mockingbird because she don t do major harm to anyone but yet, bullied because her dad is the one that stuck up for a black man. Bob Ewell also tried to kill her but her costume saved her. Scout finch is defending niggers said Cecil Jacobs. Cecil said this because Atticus took on Tom case. Scout is a mockingbird because she was teased for a situation she didn t know anything about. In conclusion Harper Lee uses Tom, Atticus, and Scout as mockingbirds. A mockingbird is a symbol of innocence in the story to kill a mockingbird. • 3. The Four Types Of Organic Molecules An organic molecule is a molecule that must have Carbon and Hydrogen. They are important because they act as a backbone for all living matter. Without Carbon and Hydrogen, life would not exist. A monomer is one subunit or building block of a larger molecule. The four types of organic molecules are carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids. Carbohydrates have two functions which is, provides short term energy and structure in some organisms. They have an atomic makeup of Carbon, Hydrogen, and Oxygen, with a 2:1 ratio of Hydrogen to Oxygen. The monomer is a monosaccharide which contains a single sugar. A couple examples of this would be glucose, fructose, and deoxyribose which is found in DNA. Yet, foods with this monomer in it would be mostly fruits, candy, and soda. Carbohydrates also have a polysaccharide which is a polymer made of many monosaccharides strung together. Some examples of these are starch, glycogen, cellulose, and chitin. A starch is storage from glucose in plants(potatoes, pasta, waffles, and toast). Glycogen is storage from glucose in animals. Cellous is structure in plants (cell wall). Chitin is structure in animals (exoskeleton). Proteins have two main functions as well, but which is, build a cell or body structure and control all cell and body functions. Examples of cell or body structure is hair, muscle, bone, tendons, and skin. Examples of proteins controlling cell and body functions are motion, support, metabolism, transport, defence, and ... • 4. Emily Dickinson s A Still-Volcano-Life Emily Dickinson, like most writers, had various styles of writing that she utilized in her work. Among these styles was the way that she created a persona for her poems. She gave a voice to her poems which both brought them to life and gave them meaning. Such is the case in her poem, A Still Volcano Life. The essence of this poem is the element of surprise. Volcanos are big, beautiful creations that are usually seen, and not heard. The dormant volcanos are sometimes ignored and treated as mountains; as still and never changing. Emily Dickinson employs the strategy of analogy in order to compare volcanos to women. In the time period in which Dickinson was writing, it was rare that women had a say in public affairs, literature being one of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She made use of the fact that she knew what it was like to be a woman and injected that all throughout both of these poems. Employing techniques such as allusion and analogies, she fights to get her points across. Although these poems are somewhat short, there is meaning in every word that Dickinson wrote. She exploded the confines of traditional poetry with her unconventional ways of writing, using unusual capitalization and punctuation, and infused her work with her introspective thoughts. In both A Still Volcano Life and I m ceded I ve stopped being Theirs, these thoughts permeate throughout. Dickinson spent much of her time by herself, which lead to her being pensive. This is yet another persona that is heard through her words; the voice of a thoughtful, educated and intelligent person who is recounting the story of her life. Her words are not obvious in their meanings all of the time because she wanted readers to really think when they read her work; her poems are riddles to be solved. She wrote in a manner that invited a sense of intimacy with her words. The riddles that her poems are force readers to become close to the words, to analyze them, turn them inside out to get the meaning. This is where Dickinson s artistry shines through because she was the type of writer that could stimulate such participation on the side of her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We had stopped playing an I saw Ray shoot us a WTF guys look. I felt hurt. We rolled around a bit but for different reasons. Gerard wanted to fucking strangle me and I wanted to get him off of me. I liked him a bit but I guess he was getting tired of the stage gay thing. He got off of me and we continued to the next song. In the whole event he had thrown my guitar behind me. The Weight Of One Of The World s Most Dominant Religions Jesus as a Figure in History: a Wealth of Information for Those Already Informed Jesus Christ is one of the most recognizable figures in the modern world. And the legacies of few people have sparked as many wars, built as many nations, and changed as many individual s lives, as Jesus of Nazareth. Understandably, scholars and spiritualists alike have striven to answer one central question, who was this Jesus? To some, He is known as the Son of God, who overcame death and sin, offering salvation through His resurrection for all who place their faith in him. To others, He was merely a carpenter from the small town of Nazareth, living in the early years of the Common Era. And trying to figure out much else about Jesus is one of the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In antiquity, historical thought was not what we would recognize as history today. Those who lived alongside Jesus, or wrote about Him in contemporary times were not concerned so much with what was but with what ought to have been. They wrote biographies with some sort of pre conceived posture of who Jesus was, and molded the story to present that character. This was not seen as dishonest in ancient times; in fact, it was considered the truest of histories. But in the age of the Enlightenment, scholars began concerning themselves with the historical validity of the subjects they studied. This began the first wave of historical Jesus scholarship. At this time, various scholars became intent on discovering the historical Jesus, and began writing various works, presented as the life of Jesus. But these writings suffered from an integral flaw, which has infected historical Jesus scholarship until today. Rather than being works of discovery, they were truly projects. Powell argues well, in his first chapter on the history of the historical Jesus movement, that a life of Jesus would typically impose some grand scheme or hypothesis upon the material that allowed everything to be interpreted in accord with a consistent paradigm... So I suggested we should drop a car down a track and see how the terrain effects the effects how long it takes the toy car to go down the binders. We liked this idea because we could apply it to real life when you re driving places. Also who doesn t want to play with toy cars it sounds fun. The question we are trying to answer is how does the terrain effect the speed of a toy car. With four terrains rainy, sandy, normal, and bumby. Changing the terrain will change the friction changing the speed of the toy car. My independent variable is the surface the toy car is sliding down on top of the binder. The sand will cause more friction, the dents will act like a hill and speed it up just to slow it down going up the hill. But the water would act as a lubricant. The dependent variable is the amount of time to finish the length of the two binders (or the race,) to track how long it takes for the car to finish the race. The reasoning why this variable is going change is because of different amounts of friction will slow the toy car down. This is the variable I will get my data from.the way the amount of friction affects the speed of the toy car because the amount of friction slows the speeds of moving objects this happens because the force of friction causes a opposes the motion of an object causing it to lose speed. The less speed the toy car has the longer the car will take to travel the distance of the two binders.Water is a lubricant a lubricant is something that lessens friction therefore it should make the toy car insell in speed making it go ... Cosplay Imperialism Cosplay, short for costume play , is a performance art in which people called cosplayers wear costumes and specific accessories and props to represent or portray a specific fictional character. It is a unique Japanese form of art which, playing upon the identificatory fantasy, it enables the western participants to assume identities and to differentiate themselves in ways which western culture cannot. The average cosplayer is not just putting on a costume; the experience is one of rebirth, an identity transformation. Daniel s (2010) paper determines whether cosplay is a demonstration of cultural imperialism of cultural hybridity. These are all influences that lead to what is seen to be a more superior journal. Consequently this means greater belief in the data present in the publication. The Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) uses statistics to calculate a journal s impact factor , which as stated is a suggestion of the influence an article exercises on other researchers in a similar research field (Locke, Silverman, Spirduso, 2010). To this effect, managers all over the world are often faced with the dilemma of effectively deploying human, material, technological, natural and financial resources to achieve desired organizational goals and objectives. The collapse of the financial markets, touching off reverberations in the real economy in the last months of 2008 has inevitably been described as the worst economic catastrophe since the great depression of the 1930s. This reward system encouraged high risk taking with a myopic focus on short term revenue and even incentivized manager for their failures. A particular insight can be drawn from the United Bank of Switzerland (UBS) report of 2008 which showed how employees were compensated with strong incentives to use UBS capital to invest in high yielding mortgage backed securities. Whilst this was, they failed to provide sufficient incentives to protect the company, hence, mismatching priorities. This would not have proved costly if only the senior managers of the firm were wise enough to put in place strong risk measurement and control system. Another issue, particularly in the line of managing objectives and misalignment of incentive structure is that of the two major financial institutions in the US; Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae) and Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac). Great Palace In Constantinople Analysis The second mosaic image from the Great Palace in Constantinople (500AD) is a very absorbing piece that brings up many questions when you first look at it. Because Constantinople had a strong tie with Chariot Racing, specifically at the Circus of Constantinople in the 6th century, it can be assumed that this image has a connection to that. The first link is the two legs that look like horse hooves in the top right area of the image, although you cannot tell for sure because the image is cut off. Another association is the palm branches off to the right, which were a staple in Chariot races as one of the prizes the victors would be able to hold and wear. Although there is certainly more evidence for helpers on the track that assisted in clearing up crashes, which this definitely could be an example of, I don t think that we should discredit the fact that this could also be men assisting in a wheel change, similarly to what happens in Formula One Racing, and the post could have very likely been a station that held each racers replacement parts. Woodhouse (1996): Green (1998); Penney (1999) imply that, the National Curriculum of Physical Education, objectives and general requirements are not fully appreciated and understood by pupils whom it is designed for. Harris (1994); Macdonald et al (2005) studies have shown that young people value PE for the cathartic function it can provide and because it was seen as enjoyable subject where the pupils can have fun and be with friends (Harris, 1994:145) while playing team games (Macdonald et al., 2005). Flintoff Scraton (2001:10) explain from their study that pupils see the key purpose of PE as a break from academic work . Jones Cheetham, (2001:90) also found this as a key theme in their study with pupils explaining how PE is a break from other academic subject such as English and maths . In other words, what should the graph look like to verify the inverse square law? The graph would require features such as; evidence that the increase in distance away from the source results in the reduction of light exposure as well as, the contrast between the ascending distance and descending LUX, in which forms an X within the graph in order to verify the proportionality expected. • 20. Christianity And Religion In Beowulf And The Canterbury Tales Throughout the Middle Ages, religion was a major theme in the literature of that time. Works such as Beowulf and The Canterbury Tales are examples of this theme in action, but in very different ways. God is seen purely as goodness in Beowulf, and everything that God approves of is good as well. Contrarily, The Canterbury Tales satirizes religion by showing members of the church in a negative manner and debating the teachings of the Bible, the latter particularly in The Wife of Bath s Prologue. Despite these different takes on Christianity, the characters in both stories sin, yet are defended. Both Beowulf and The Wife of Bath s Prologue contain different defenses of the protagonist s sin, to varying degrees of success. Beowulf s sins revolve around personality traits, namely his boastfulness and greed, however the author does not acknowledge this sin. First and foremost, it must be made clear that these sins truly exist in Beowulf and are in opposition to Christian morals, regardless of whether or not the author condemns them. Upon his arrival in Heorot, Beowulf s conversation with Unferth demonstrates how his pride and boastfulness is integral to his reputation. Unferth asks, Are you the Beowulf who took on Breca / in a swimming match on the open sea, / risking the water just to prove that you could win? / It was sheer vanity made you venture out / on the main deep, (Beowulf 506 510). The first two flips, he guesses heads and both times the coin lands on tails. Certainly the third time, the guesser believes, the coin must land on heads. He follows his instinct, and he is wrong again. This scenario is just one example of the human mind attempting to impose a pattern on a random phenomenon. People love patterns and order, so we create societies, institutions, and artificial concepts like time. The human brain sees a man on the moon and seeks out information confirming its hypotheses (and ignores support for the oppositions). George Eliot critiques this beneficial, but also limiting, skill of the human mind. In I Grant You Ample Leave, she argues that humans perceive pattern and connection where there is none. Line 6 of I Grant You Ample Leave asserts that You link false inference with, the Since so (Eliot, 6). Within these few words, Eliot describes her audience with an emphatic pronoun. She then retains her audience s attention using unorthodox styles such as enjambment and blank verse. Finally, she employs a logogram, the ampersand, as a symbol of her poem s argument. Blocher is a law professor at Duke University. His academic interests include constitutional law, the First and Second Amendments, capital punishment, and property rights. Blocher notes a particular argument: the death penalty must be constitutional because the Fifth Amendment clearly allows it. However, Blocher takes a side on the issue and explains reasons why this is not necessarily true. One of those reasons is that the death penalty was allowed and constitutional at the time the Constitution was being written. The author comes to the conclusion that there may be good arguments for the constitutionality of the death penalty, but the Fifth Amendment is not one of them. Throughout the article Blocher explains his reason for believing that the Fifth Amendment does not supply enough evidence to support the use of the death penalty. However, Blocher also includes evidence that supports opinions that people who disagree with him may have. He writes: Justice Scalia argued that the Fifth Amendment afforded a textual basis for the capital punishment s continued constitutionality: The reason is obvious: It is impossible to hold unconstitutional that which the Constitution explicitly contemplates. In the late nineteenth century, America was considered as a patriarchal society. Where males had all control and women worked as their slave. • 40. The Railroad Earth Summary In the poem The RailRoad Earth Jack Kerouac, a pioneer of the Beat Generation, narrates his daily life as a railroad worker in the 1960 s. He begins his story in an alley behind the Southern Pacific Station anticipating the coming commuter frenzy at the station. He offers a unique perspective as a bystander that looks upon the city and the two conflicting cultures that divide it. He puts on display not just the everyday hustle and bustle of corporate America, but exposes the low down and dirty underbelly of the city. He uncovers a layer to the city that is deeper than its corporates exterior. One of poverty and hopelessness that swallows the city like a pothole yet ultimately lets light to a valuable idea of freedom and self expression. In his poem The RailRoad Earth , Kerouac presents the real San Francisco. He disregards the city s fancy and sophisticated corporate image that many believe it to be for the real and raw, poverty stricken city it is. In fact the corporate exterior is composed of commuters, who are not native to the city, while the soul of the city lies in the hands of the homeless and low income people of color who actually live there. These commuters are businessmen who come from the railroad earth , the outside lands connected to the city by the railroad. The men of the railroad earth manifested in San Francisco because of the trains, buses, and cars that merely pass through the city. The reform is so heavily advertised that Alex refers to the newspaper as the Government paper.
