Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bio-Materials
BIO MATERIALS Bio materials are materials that are employed for biological purposes. They come
under the category of ADVANCED MATERIALS i.e. materials that have high tech applications.
According to the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), a bio material is one
which is exploited in contact with living tissues, organisms, and/or micro organisms. Bio materials are
not a separate class of materials. Rather, they are common materials naturally occurring or
synthetically manufactured that are deemed suitable for use in living organisms in general and humans
in particular. Polymers, metals and ceramics are all examples of common biomaterials that are used in
day to day medical procedures without complications. Sometimes, naturally occurring proteins such as
collagen are also used as bio materials with slight modifications, if required. Bio materials have lots of
uses in the field of medicine. They can be used for purposes as simple as a stent in cardiovascular
surgery or as complex as a pacemaker or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

pseudo elastic i.e. they can vastly alter their shape by changes in temperature and upon application of
minimal stress. They are used in fire alarm systems. Magneto restrictive materials They change their
shape upon change in magnetic field. Electro luminescent materials These materials give out light
when electric current is applied to them. Chromogenic materials Chromogenic materials exhibit

Symbols Used In Ground Zero Cross
Among one of the most famous symbols used in Ground Zero is the Ground Zero Cross. It represents
the spiritual and physical healing this country desperately needed. After the attacks on 9 11, Fr. Brian
Jordan OFM, a Roman Catholic Franciscan priest, said it was a symbol of hope... [a] symbol of faith...
[a] symbol of healing. Symbols are very important and influential to everyone. Symbols holds a
hidden meaning that, in most cases, are more influential than telling it blunt. Yes, sometimes telling it
bluntly works but putting it as a symbol shows a deeper meaning and relevance to what you, your
community, or your nation stands for. This symbol, the Ground Zero Cross, reveals that our country
believes in freedom for all. Focusing on religious freedom, we see how this cross shaped symbol
shows that even when hit, literally or figuratively, for our beliefs we can still fight, move forward, and
survive. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The previous name for one of the monuments honoring 9 11 was Freedom Tower before it was
changed to One World Trade Center . Another trait is that even when hit in difficult times, the people
in a nation can join forces and bring their country back to its feet. Volunteers, firefighters, policemen
and dogs all worked together to help clear the rubble from the twin towers and help save lives. This
memorial is a tribute to 9 11 by showing the younger generations, who weren t around or too young to
remember, all about the terrorist attacks on 9 11. By displaying things found in the rubble at the
Ground Zero Museum it shows a walk through of what happened on that day. From the Ground Zero
Cross to the names etched around the pools where the towers once stood, it s a remembrance striving
to make sure we never forget what happened on the horrible

How Does Sherlock Holme Use Deductive Reasoning
Compare/Contrast Essay
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle s character, Sherlock Holmes, once said I consider that a man s brain
originally is like a little empty attic, and you have to stock it with such furniture as you choose. This
quote can be found in A Study in Scarlet and relates to how Sherlock feels about knowledge. Sherlock
even seems to use this to help him reason and understand the characteristics of people who cross paths
with him. Both The Great Mouse Detective (GMD) and Sherlock Holmes (SH) use characteristics,
from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle s short stories, but they are depicted and intertwined into the stories very
differently.
In the movies The Great Mouse Detective and Sherlock Holmes, deductive reasoning is the main tool
used to solve cases. Sherlock Holmes, the lead detective in SH, uses deductive reasoning to decipher
how the antagonist pulls off the illusions. Basil of Baker Street, the lead detective in GMD, uses
deductive reasoning in a similar way to figure out the antagonist s evil scheme. While deductive
reasoning is used in both films, Sherlock Holmes seems to use it more uniformly, as opposed to Basil
who appears to use deductive reasoning more sporadically. Sherlock also tends to rely less on others
own reasoning, and more on their abilities to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

They are good people that wish to help others, but they often need the lead detective to explain how

story, including the fact they have seen war. Dr. Watson from SH, is a skinnier guy with well groomed
facial hair, and he doesn t put up with drivel from Sherlock Holmes. Dr. Dawson, however, is a
chubby man with less well groomed facial hair, and he is a lot more patient with Sherlock s outlandish

White Tailed Deer And Gray Squirrel Psychology
When it comes to both white tailed deer gray squirrels it is important to understand their behavior
during all of the seasons. For both of these species they remain active year round, which is helpful
when managing for them. The season that both white tailed deer gray squirrels are hunted is during the
fall. Since they are both hunted during the same season, more management techniques are required to
ensure the population stays at a healthy abundance.
Deer are normally browsing on similar food throughout the seasons, but it depends if the food is
available. During majority of the seasons white tailed deer are getting food from hard mast, these hard
mast consists of acorns, beech nuts, and hickory nuts. Since their diet mainly consists of

Michael Apted s Treatment Of Amazing Grace

In Michael Apted s treatment of Amazing Grace, he focuses on a young abolitionist in a pro slavery
society. In the thesis, Apted and I examine how, tɦʀօʊɢɦ tɦɛ քօաɛʀɖʊʟ ʍɛssaɢɛ օʄ tɦɛ ɦʏʍռ Aʍaʐɨռɢ
Gʀaċɛ,William Wilberforce strives to stand up for what he believes is morally right when escaping
from political pressures, even if it means being humiliated. Throughout the film three types of history
occurred: political, economic, and military. The conclusion of the paper will be a restatement of the
main ideas, and my personal opinion on the film.
In the beginning of the movie, Michael Apted introduces William Wilberforce as a young abolitionist.
William lives in a society that is racist and prejudice to anyone not of their skin color. Great Britain in
the late 1700 s, was a society dominated by the upper class who opposed changes in their way of life.
To achieve this they lived a glamorous life, looking down on those below them in the social order. At
first William does not outright show his feeling about slavery but subtly shows it by being a worker of
God. To him a worker of God was one who made decisions and based their actions upon what they
believed God wanted. In the beginning of the film, As a game of poker occurs with other members of
Parliament in a bar, William plays against the Duke of Clarence a strong believer in slavery. The duke
gambles off his young black coach driver, and Wilberforce slams down his cards in anger and storms
off. Although he

Factors Affecting The Airline Industry
Introduction:
The September 11 attacks left a major impact that the airline industry is yet to recover from. Extended
recession and increasing oil prices are the other major factors affecting the growth of the airline
industry. At this scenario, the airlines operating with unoccupied seats make huge losses and
sometimes the airliner even goes bankrupt; for instance, the kingfisher airlines in India has gone
bankrupt due to failure in managing the unoccupied seats and inefficient management in their ticket
pricing strategies. Even the recent disappearances of aircrafts from Malaysian airlines have
unfavorably affected the global airline industry leaving airlines operating with vacant seats.
It is very important for every airliner to create value for their shareholders; ticket pricing is the main
source that an airliner can make revenue from. Therefore, airliners should have strategies that help
them to be sustainable in the industry. I think that my research is on a problem that most of the
airliners are facing today. Especially domestic airliners and the airlines with limited destinations are
making more losses due to improper pricing strategies. This research focusses on creating a value to
the airliner that I will be working for. It also creates value to the shareholders and stakeholders of the
company. As every business is based on the customer satisfaction, my research is achievable if I could
make a good analysis of customers needs and wants.

A World Of Difference In James Sire s The Universe Next Door
A World of Difference (Introduction): In the book The Universe Next Door written by James Sire
begins with a brief explanation of what a Worldview is. As stated in the book by Sire, The essence of a
worldview lies deep in the inner recesses of the human self. A Worldview involves the mind, but it is
first of all a commitment, a matter of the soul. It is spiritual orientation more than it is a matter of
mind alone (pg.20, Sire). The author states that it is from the heart that all one s thoughts and actions
proceed. The basis of the introduction of Sire s book is answering the seven basic questions of
worldview, including what is prime reality the really real? what is the nature of external reality, that is,
the world around us? what is a human being? what happens to a person after death? Why is it possible
to know anything at all? And finally, how do we know what is right and wrong? (pg.22). Also, the
author asserts that by being able to answer some or many of the seven worldview questions that an
individual has, then people can form their own worldviews for themselves. Sire discusses nine
different worldviews by answering those seven questions, explaining them and depicting what each
worldview system believes and does not. Thus, Sire closes the introduction of the book with two
questions, Which is your universe? And Which are the universes next door? (pg. 24 Sire). A Universe
Charged with The Grandeur of God (Christian Theism): Sire begins chapter one discussing

Apocalypse Now, Apocalypse Forever
Apocalypse Now, Apocalypse Forever
Francis Ford Coppola s magnum opus Apocalypse Now was ladened with problems and difficulties
before and after filming. These problems ranged from those having to do with the cast and crew, to
those having to do with the circumstances surrounding the filming, to those having to do with the
script, to those dealing in direct regard to the very sanity of all of those involved with Apocalypse
Now. Despite the myriad of problems that contributed to this acclaimed film s failure, Apocalypse
Now still became a success in its own right, and a true classic by any director s standards.

He chose to set a feel for his scenes unknown , then have the actors improvise what was going to
happen (Behr). Coppola also had these actors make lists of what they felt that their characters should
do in different situations (Behr). This caused an effect of the script writing itself, as well as creating a
deeper rift between it and the source material. Marlon Brando, who portrayed Kurtz, fed the fire of
deep confusion where the script was concerned. Both Heart of Darkness, and Milius original script, as
well as Coppola s later interpretation of these, called for the character of Kurtz to be a frail, sickly, and
dying man. Brando, however, refused to get into shape as Coppola had requested. Brando was in fact
so fat during filming that he was shy about it (Behr). Coppola first suggested that he rewrite the script
to accommodate the character to Brando by setting him up as a gluttonous, man consumed by his own
evil excesses (Behr). Brando refused to be undignified in his portrayal, so the filming, as well as the
writing remained stagnant for days on end. In the end Coppola merely set Brando and Sheen free to
improvise for three weeks, leaving him with an incoherent batch of footage that, with the exception of
the death lines of The Horror! The Horror! (Conrad) had little to do with the script, or the novel. Time

Power Of Music Research Paper
The Power of Music
Everyone knows the story of the Piped Piper of Hamelin. He had the ability to hypnotize people with
his flute by playing the most enchanting music. But he s just myth, right? No one has the power to
charm people with music. Well, you d be surprised. Throughout history, music has always been
recognized for its calming and almost hypnotic effects on the human mind, and for its ability to rouse
and inspire the spirit. Only recently has science uncovered the truth about music. Researchers have
long suspected that music affects the brain in the most profound ways, and now they finally have
evidence to back up that theory. Such an interesting topic definitely deserves further exploration.

Music s calming effects can extend to children as well, as directors at Young Imaginations have seen
for themselves. Young Imaginations is a private arts agency that provides music programs for 30
California schools. Executive director Marianne Locke speaks of their findings: When we play
traditional Japanese and Chinese music or other slow pieces and pair them with movements, such as
yoga and T ai Chi, the children become calmer and more able to focus their attention. (Cassidy 48)
Following up on this observation, the organization is setting up an independent study to determine if
children are calmer and perform better on certain learning tasks when exposed to slower and calmer
pieces of music. In a separate and totally unrelated study, Harvard researcher Jerome Kagan reported a
very interesting finding. If you present an interesting visual stimulus to a baby, it becomes aroused and
begins to move its arms and legs, Kagan noted. [However,] if you play some music that interests them,
they do the opposite they quiet down. There is a very different psychological reaction to sound. (Knox
A6) Music s affect on children have only recently been documented and published. Although the
aforementioned calming effects of music have not been explained by scientists, they now know that
the brains of infants are capable of extraordinary feats. New research shows that brain development is
largely unfinished at birth and that the stimuli a

The Holocaust and Nazi Germany
Introduction (150 words)
As a result of the Holocaust, a clear link can be made between Nazi racial ideologies and Hitler s
foreign policy. Firstly, Nazi ideologies were a fundamental facet to the Holocaust, as it included the
philosophies of who constituted as a Jew, and the consequent treatment of those diagnosed as Jews.
Secondly, Hitler s foreign policies were another significant aspect of the holocaust, as it was a
fundamental part in the construction of Hitler s ultimate goal. Thirdly, the foreign policy and racial
ideologies are revealed to be inextricably linked through the invasion of Poland in 1939. Fourthly it is
evident that these foreign policies and racial ideologies contributed to Germany s involvement in
World War Two. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, as outlined in the Nazis racial ideologies, Hitler desire to reclaim ethnic Germans, or
Volksdeutsche back into the Reich who were living outside of Germany could not be achieved without
the extension of the Reich land, therefore making Poland a good target. Furthermore, Poland had over
3 million Jews, and of those 3 million, 2 million Jews came directly under Nazi rule, meaning
Germany could relocate those Jews, freeing up many houses for the relocated of the Volksdeutsche .
Thus, it is evident that the Nazis foreign policy had multiple incentives and were significant facets of
Hitler s ultimate goal.
Paragraph 3: How they are linked in relation to Poland invasion: Initally treatment of Jews (300

In this context, it can be observed that the Nazis racial ideologies and foreign policies are intimately
link, revealed primarily in their invasion of Poland. The invasion of Poland took place in September
1939, and was occupied by Germany until early 1945. As revealed in the Nazi foreign policy, Poland
had 3 million Jews, and one of the chief leaders who executed the treatment of Polish Jews after the
invasion was Heydrich . Heydrich was ordered by Hitler to ensure the final return into the Reich of
ethnic and racial Germans abroad, including the creation of settlement areas for them . As a result of

Essay on In Defense of Historical Fiction
The genre of historical fiction novels can be subdivided into many categories and often crosses genres,
such as historical mysteries and romances. The traditional definition of the historical fiction genre is
fiction set in the past where the author is writing from research rather than personal experience. This
definition leaves a lot of room for interpretation, controversy, and contradiction. Critics in the media,
even when they praise individual historical novels in their reviews, somehow manage to turn this
praise into criticism of the genre as a whole. In 1950, author Howard Fast, a historical novelist
himself, wrote: This is an era of many historical novels, few of them good and very few indeed which

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain is a classic example of a successful historical
fiction novel depicting the life and adventures of youthful boys in the Mississippi River town of St.
Petersburg, Missouri and various locations along the river through Arkansas. Readers of this novel are
confronted with difficult themes such as slavery and revolution in the south before the Civil War. In
chapter 6 of the novel we see Huck s father, Pap, confronted with a finely dressed and educated free
African American. As the man passes Pap states, There, now that s a specimen. They call that a
govment that can t sell a free nigger till he s been in the State six months. Here s a govment that calls
itself a govment, and lets on to be a govment, and thinks it is a govment, and yet s got to set stock still
for six whole months before it can take a hold of a prowling, thieving, infernal, white shirted free
nigger. (Twain 151). This little speech by Pap shows that he s a blatant racist who treats African
Americans as though they are not at all human beings. This novel is full of authentic points of view
from the various characters Huck encounters on his adventures. Twain uses dialog such as this to
educate readers about past conflicts such as the Civil War and slavery. Although highly controversial,
this novel has been used as an educational tool in English literature classrooms for years. The point is

Junie B Jones Character Analysis
The Destructive Influence of Junie B. Jones The Junie B. Jones series has become extremely popular
over the years. There are many people that love the stories because of how witty Junie B. is. It is also
true that a large number of children can connect with her since Barbra Park created the series with
Junie B. speaking in first person as the narrator. However, there are a lot of concerns with the amount
of disrespect seen by Junie. Additionally, there could be an educational confusion for children who are
trying to learn to read and pronounce words correctly. The Junie B. Jones series basically glorifies
being bad, not listening to adults and using language that a five or six year old should not be using.
The ruthless actions and improper usage of communication by Junie B. in the Junie B. Jones series can
be very confusing and misleading for the young children that are expected to read these books.
Character Choices The different types of characters in Junie B. Jones and a Little Monkey Business
play important roles in the story. The diverse age groups help to show how Junie B. is disrespectful to
all of those that surround her. The main characters are Junie B. Jones, Mother, Daddy, Grampa Miller,
Grandma Miller, Lucille, that Grace, Mrs., that mean Jim, Ollie and the principle. These characters are
very effective because they add to the story in their own individual ways. They were made to help
keep the audience laughing, but in reality they just help by adding more people that Junie B. is
disrespectful to in the story.
Ruthless Actions
Junie B. is characterized as an ungrateful and spoiled child. With that being said, many people believe
that the actions of Junie B. Jones are minor and can be seen as fun and playful since her age. However,
these are not the average actions of the well mannered six and seven year olds that may be reading the
books. The way that the story is written makes children think that it is okay to have unacceptable
behavior at a very young age. Junie B. continuously acts out and is regularly disobedient. The series
more or less makes light of bad behavior. It is supposed to be funny when Junie B. does not respond to
her parents when they are trying to speak to her, or when she

Essay on Evolution of the Keyboard
The Physical Evolution of the Keyboard: From Monochord to Harpsichord
Since the first person heard the wind whistle through the trees or the sea in a seashell humans have
been drawn to sound. Being the oppressive and ingenious species that we are we felt the need to
capture these sounds and any others that we could to keep for our own. Eventually people like
Pythagoras and gods such as Apollo found that by stretching materials and picking/plucking them that
they would produce sounds and that the tighter you stretched these strings the higher the sound would
go. These were the early beginnings of the pianoforte.

of the case, as does the keyboard, which sits off center to one end or the other. At the opposite end of
this rectangle is the soundboard. The soundboard is a box taking up one quarter of the total length of
the instrument. It is usually made of softwood with an f shaped hole cut in it to amplify the sound
coming from the strings, which are situated just above it. The keys sit on a simple rocker mechanism
and strike the strings with brass blades called tangents. Under normal circumstances the strings are
deadened by felt dampers lying very near to on end of the strings. As the key is depressed it strikes the
string just past the felt damper and creates a temporary bridge for that string allowing it to vibrate. For
the note to continue to vibrate the player must keep the key depressed. Also, due to the nature of the
mechanism on the clavichord it is possible for the player to create vibrato by varying the amount of
pressure put on a key once it has been depressed. Unfortunately due to the size and construction of the
clavichord it has an extremely soft sound making it impossible to be heard in noisy surroundings.
The church had always been the center of the musical world and as music gained complexity the need
arose for a keyboard instrument that could be used in the

Panic Disorder And Anxiety Disorder
Introduction According to Torpy (2011), Panic Disorder refers to an overwhelming fear, terror, or
fright that is usually referred to as panic, one that happens to an individual several times in his or her
life. She goes on to describe panic as a situation that is short lived and frequently related to a terrifying
event that happens in an individual s life. The purpose of this paper, therefore, is to provide a detailed
discussion that shows a definitive picture of panic disorder. In order to enhance one s understanding
on what a panic disorder is, it will be necessary to examine some things like the symptoms and
prevalence rate of panic disorder, how different cultures views panic disorder, the age at which the
onset of panic disorder comes, some of the gender features in relation to panic disorder with emphasis
on whether it manifests differently in boys as it does in girls. It is also necessary to discuss the
etiology of panic disorder, the course and prognosis of the condition, as well as, a differential
diagnosis that appears similar to panic disorder. Finally, there will be a need to describe the social
effects of panic disorder in order to show how an individual with panic disorder gets affected socially.
Panic Disorder Statistics from the American Psychological Association (2015) indicate that one person
out of every 75 people might be suffering from panic disorder. Referring to it as a serious condition,
they go on to explain that panic disorder is a common

Sadness seems like a stretch when you first read the poem, there isn t even a single word that brings
down the carefree, joyous tone but when you analyze the poem you ll find the sadness. It surrounds
Gary and his girl throughout the poem, winter or perhaps the world,in the foreground we see bright,
intense, young love that ll eventually burn out and when it does we are left with a cold, harsh, cruel
world. Growing up is apparent in this poem in the first few line we know this is an important moment
because it s his first time taking a girl on a date, it s him growing up, he takes one step to manhood.
Love runs the show in this poem it stands out and demands your attention, when Soto takes the time to
look at his girl and see how her face burns with crimson I don t think any friend would notice that he
seems to be paying plenty attention to her. I don t think Soto is trying to convey a specific message he
s just talking about his first date nothing more, nothing less. Maybe he s trying to convey a message
about love but he doesn t give much insight. Sotos purpose was to tell you a lovey dovey story that ll

How Shahrazad Changes King Shriyar
Shahrazad changes King Shahriyar by telling him the tales from the Thousands and One Nights, as
well as showing him her motherly love for the children they have together while she told him the tales.
With all of her intelligence and braveness, she was able to save her life, her children s lives, as well as
changing the King from a cold hearted person to a gentle, caring man of her own. King Shahriyar was
heartbroken by the fact that his wife betrayed him for the slaves and how she did not stay faithful to
him, while he loves her so much. He started to doubt love as he and his brother set out to find if other
kings also have their wives like that. They found a jinnee with a young lady, in which they were
forced to mount her for their lives.

Examples Of False Identification
The witness is not visible to those in the lineup. The witness is asked to identify which, if any, of the
individuals committed the crime. A lineup places greater demands on the memory of the witness than
does a viewing of a single suspect, and is believed to reduce the chances of a false identification. For
example, assume a witness saw a man with a beard and a cap run across an alley near a crime scene. If
the police show this witness one man who has a beard and a cap, the witness might make a positive
identification. If they instead show the witness several men with a beard and a cap, the witness must
make a more detailed identification and may not identify the same man. Identification procedure have

I was suspended academically by SMCC in the spring 14 15 year for poor academic performance.
This was eye opening because I had just transferred from Saint Joseph s College as a pre med student

because I thought that SMCC s curriculum was nowhere compared to Saint Joseph s college, I was
wrong. I was working two jobs the entirety of the year and I put school aside, even though I was a full

How Does Toni Morrison Use Biblical Allusions In Song Of...
Toni Morrison utilizes biblical references and symbolization to depict the imprisonment of African
American people after slavery in her novel, Song of Solomon. Particularly, Morrison s characters each
fall victim to themselves as a result of societal expectations in a way that parallels the actions of the
people that a character s name corresponds with. Accordingly, each character deals with their
oppression in a way that corresponds with their biblical counterparts, and in some cases, to prevent
themselves from the oppression in which their biblical counterparts fall victim to. Morrison first
depicts Ruth Dead in correspondence with Ruth of the Bible in order to characterize the oppression by
which women of color had endured preceding slavery. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Corinthians is first depicted to the reader as a child, playing with rose petals with her sister, Lena,
right as a doctor, Mr. Smith, attempts to fly and jumps off of the roof of Mercy Hospital. The fake rose
petals that Corinthians is playing with at this time connect her to Mr. Smith as both characters pursue
dreams of freedom; in Corinthians case, pursuing love with others to escape societal oppression, and
in Mr. Smith s case, pursuing flight to escape racism. The rose petals, therefore, begin to symbolize
the pursuit of love for Corinthians and its impossibility. Corinthians, however, also takes on the
symbolism of Paul s letter to the people of Corinth in the Bible as like them, she would [violate her
own sense of morality] to escape the velvet. (Morrison 198) Corinthians first chance at love comes in
the form of, Henry Porter, a poor landworker who pays rent to Corinthians father, Macon Dead II.
Although he admits his love for her, she is initially willing to forsake her dreams of finding love to fit
in with society because having a relationship with a poor man would diminish her image to her family.
Corinthians willingness to discriminate and forsake morality parallels the actions that the people of
Corinth exhibited in First Corinthians of the New Testament as Paul, the writer of First Corinthians,
writes the book to criticize the people of Corinth for hypocritically exhibiting prejudice towards their
own people. Particularly, Paul noted that they were rude and discourteous to poorer Christians similar
to how Corinthians rejects Henry Porter due to his lack of wealth. However, Corinthians eventually
forsakes her prejudice towards the poor and has an affair with Porter which she hides from her family.

Cognitive distortions are basically negative and inaccurate thoughts that our minds convince us of
being true. Everyone gets these kinds of thoughts whether we realize it or not and for some people
they occur more often than others. A simple example of this is someone who fails at one thing and
then thinks or believes that they are failure at everything. Some of these thoughts may be much more
subtle but still have a huge effect on us and our thought process. It s an important topic to discuss
because as we learn more about the different kinds of cognitive distortions we can learn how to
prevent them or change the thoughts. By learning to refute these thoughts we can replace them ...

Impact of the Cognitive Distortion
The immediate impact this negative thought has on me is feeling like a failure and just giving in. I feel
pretty defeated and upset at myself for not being stronger and avoiding temptation . After this kind of
thought occurs and once I m done eating, I initially feel so letdown and angry at myself but the next
day I use it as a motivation to go forward and not repeat it, though I do find myself occasionally
coming back to it, almost as a cycle.
Automatic Negative Thought
Another negative thought(s) I find myself having often is not being good enough. This is something
that I usually find myself thinking a lot about after an altercation or disagreement with someone.
There have been a few instances in my life when I m put in a position where someone I care for picks
someone else over me, this being both emotional and not. I have found that this is thought I have a lot
in my personal relationships and many times I have this thought after a small incident or argument. I
think this is tendency I have a lot, to think negatively about myself, when small problems occur.
Cognitive Distortion
This would fall under over generalization. I believe that me taking a small argument or incident that
many times has nothing to do with myself, and turning on to negative thought about myself not being
good enough for other person is something I definitely

Informed Consent In Research
Informed Consent:
Diener and Grandall (1978) defined the notion of informed consent as the procedures within which
informants have the choice to take part in the research under investigation after providing them with
facts that would impact their decisions (Cited in Morrison, Cohen, and Manion, 2011, p. 51). This
definition includes four major principles, which are competence, voluntarism, complete facts, and
comprehension. Thus, it is really necessary to consider the informed consent before starting to gather
data. This involves preserving and respecting the participants rights and it is also vital to mention that
the participants have the right to refuse to participate or to withdraw once the research has started

The involvement of deception can lead to harmful and detrimental consequences, hence, ethical
consideration should be highlighted right from the beginning. As a matter of fact, Kelman (1967) has
developed three techniques to deal with this issue. These are:
The increase of active awareness among the researchers.
Decreasing the negative impacts of deception by providing appropriate feedback in the end of the
research meeting.
Ensuring that new procedures are established. (Cited in Cohen, Manion, and Morrison, 2011).
In essence, in my research project, my intentions will be addressed before I start my data collection
and I will make sure that anonymity and confidentiality of my potential research participants are
protected. Additionally, I will tell the whole truth to my potential research subjects about what I intend
to do before commencing data gathering to avoid betrayal and

Moralism In The Movie High Noon
High Noon, the shocking American film from the 1950 s, shines light on the true nature of one
standing their ground when the world is against them. This movie was written to represent the Red
Scare, when Hollywood members were falsely accused of being communist. These actors were forced
to give names of others who they thought were communists or else they would be punished. If the
communist actors gave out names, however, they would be ruining other s careers. Some of the people
refused to give names. Like the Marshall in the movie High Noon, these brave actors stood up for
what they believed in. Nevertheless, the other members of Hollywood around were not very willing to
support. They were like the townspeople in High Noon. They didn t want to risk their own reputation
and safety. In the film, Zinnemann successfully revealed the hardships of those falsely convicted, and
exposed the hearts of those who saw the false conviction, but did nothing about it in order to protect
themselves. Directed by Fred Zinnemann, this thrilling motion picture s main character is a marshal
named Cain, played by the actor Gary Cooper. He s asked by the townspeople to relocate because a
few villains plan to kill him at high noon. Instead of heeding to the advice of the townspeople, Cain
stands up for what he believes in, and stays to fight all four of the villains. People slowly remove
themselves from him, and refuse to fight by his side. He has to face his enemies alone.
High Noon is like many other works of literature which praised heroes who fought the fight alone.
Helen Hannah, in the movie Judgment was mocked and put on trial for her religious beliefs. Tousle, in
the novel Straw into Gold, broke out of the crowd, and spoke on behalf of innocent people being
claimed as rebels. These heroes were ready and willing to put their life on the line for what they
believe. However, it was not easy for any of them. Just like the other authors, Zinnemann wanted the
audience to see the internal struggle the hero was having. The look on the marshal s face, the
weariness in his gait, and his conflicting thoughts when he walked into the bar, and punched one of the
men in the face, and was about to leave on the horse, but changed his

geography helped shaped their initial isolationist policies. Due to their location in the Bay of Bengal,
the island helps strengthen their isolationist principles. i. Since it is an island, the shore of North

Acute coronary syndrome is a term used for any condition brought on by sudden, reduced blood flow
to the heart. Acute coronary syndrome symptoms may include the type of chest pressure that you feel
during a heart attack, or pressure in your chest while you re at rest or doing light physical activity
(unstable angina). The first sign of acute coronary syndrome can be sudden stopping of your heart
(cardiac arrest). Acute coronary syndrome is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Your doctor will probably order several tests to figure out the cause of your chest pain. These tests
may include a blood draw to check your cholesterol and blood sugar levels. If you need these tests,
you ll need to fast to get the most accurate results. Your doctor will tell you if you need to fast before
having these tests, and for how long.
Your doctor may also want to perform imaging tests to check for blockages in your heart and the
blood vessels leading to it
Tests and diagnosis
If you have signs and symptoms of acute coronary syndrome, your doctor may run several tests to see
if your symptoms are caused by a heart attack or another form of chest discomfort. If your doctor
thinks you re having a heart attack, the first two tests you have are:
Electrocardiogram (ECG).This is the first test done to diagnose a heart attack. It s often done while
you re being asked questions about your symptoms. This test records the electrical activity of your
heart via electrodes attached to your skin. Impulses are recorded as waves displayed on a monitor or
printed on paper. Because injured heart muscle doesn t conduct electrical impulses normally, the ECG
may show that a heart attack has occurred or is in progress.
Blood tests. Certain heart enzymes slowly leak into your blood if your heart has been damaged by a
heart attack. Emergency room staff will take samples of your blood to test for the

The Photograph, Two Beds
The photograph, Two Beds, Two Windows taken by Jack Leigh is a silver gelatin print from 1981. In
this era of color photography, a photograph like this with black, white and grey hues is a novelty,
especially for the younger generation. On first glance, the exhibit appears to be a simple photograph of
a cabin with two beds and two windows giving a view of a coastline and an ocean in the distance.
Even then it does manage to strike a chord and one can identify with The Conflict Within the human
mind. It is a perfect metaphorical representation of the two sides of the human mind. On seeing the
photo for the first time one can conclude that it shows the interior of a bedroom in a cabin and that it is
located on the coast. The room has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whereas outside the windows, one can see some shrubbery followed by a coastline and an endless
ocean stretching up to the horizon outside. Its vastness is compelling. There are two beds inside the
room. The bed to the left is covered with a ruffled bed sheet of indistinct and dull print. It even has a
pillow flung on top of it. The other is covered neatly with a bright bed sheet having a flower print
design. Here the pillow is tucked away beneath the sheet. Out of the two windows in the room, the one
on the left has the shutter half way down and the one to the right has the shutter wide open. But both
windows are shut and at the top, light can be seen streaming in mainly through the unshuttered
window. It helps brighten, mostly the right side of the room. Windows and beds are separated by
chasms of dark shadows. The walls are made of horizontal planks of wood. Outside the window, one
can see shrubs causing a barricade like appearance. This is followed by the coastline and the ocean
waves crashing against it. In the distance one can see the sky meeting the ocean at the horizon.
This photograph of a bedroom overlooking the coastline in grey hues immediately sets one in a
reflective mood. The use of sharp lines and the closed space in the cabin is strikingly similar to a
closed human mind. The bedroom, a place of leisure and rest can be considered a representation of the
subconscious mind. Here one s

The Language And The Origin Of The English Language
According to David Crystal, linguistics professor at the University of Wales, approximately 20 percent
of the world can speak English. With English being the predominant language in the United States as
well as many other parts of the world, it is undoubtedly one of the most significant languages in
modern times. But have you ever wondered about the origins of the language you speak every day?
Where did it come from? Did someone invent it? And why are some rules of the English language so
weird? For example, why is geese the plural of goose? To get a better understanding of English, it is
useful to learn about its long and complex history, and how the language the majority of us know and
use today formed and evolved over time. To learn the history of the English language, we must first go
back in time to Great Britain at about 50 BCE. According to Alastair Kane, writer for Communicaid
business English courses, people here during this time period spoke in what is known as Celtic, but
eventually, Latin also became an influence on their language because of commerce between Great
Britain and Rome. Kane also writes that Latin further shaped the language of Great Britain after it was
invaded by the Romans under Emperor Claudius. Although remnants of this English prototype can be
observed in our modern language, the people of Great Britain certainly weren t speaking what could
be considered actual English. Philip Durkin, principal etymologist at Oxford Dictionaries claims that

A Brief Explanation Of The Prisoner s Dilemma
Purpose: Introduction/background of problem
The purpose of this discussion is to give a brief explanation of the Prisoner s Dilemma
game, the notion of dominant strategy, and the concept of Nash equilibrium and cooperation.
The Prisoner`s Dilemma game helps us understand what governs the balance between
cooperation and competition in business, in politics, and in social settings (Dixit Nalebuff,
2008). An example, of a traditional method of this game is how a school principal resolve
student conflicts by talking to both parties involved to determine the circumstance of the event
that occurred. The strategy in this method is to try and determine the truth by listening to two
conflicting stories of events. The Prisoner`s Dilemma in economics can be applied when we look
at competing business and how they market their products to receive the best possible revenue.
An example of this is the automobile industry and how to compete with one another for customer
sale through competitive pricing and incentives. The notion of dominant strategy is the notion
that one strategy is better than the other and this notion could typically give one side an
advantage over another. This is great information to have but it all depends on how this
information is implemented in a company s business practices. The concept of Nash equilibrium
and cooperation is a concept that was developed by a mathematics graduate named, John Forbes
Nash. The idea of the Nash

Kudler Fine is evaluating their current network and creating a logical design document that will show
what needs to be done to upgrade or install a new network system to meet the goals set out to achieve.

#61557; Faster Checkout Response
#61557; Collect Customer Data
#61557; Track Customer Data and Purchases
#61557; Ensure the security of their customers personal data
Review of Current Network
The current network is a fairly early design called an Ethernet Bus network. A bus network Topology

Reliability and Uptime
Network reliability is the ability of a network to maintain or restore an acceptable level of
performance during network failures by application various restoration techniques and prevention of
service outages from network failures by applying preventative techniques. (Network Survivability,
2001). Computing the reliability of a network is quite difficult; therefore estimation by means of
simulation is a popular choice for determining network reliability.
System Response Time
System response time is the interval between the instant a request is entered which requires a response
from a remote networked node and the instant that response is received. Most of the network nodes on
the system are Pentium II PC s with Windows 98 operating systems. There is one Pentium III
Windows NT server located at Del Mar and La Jolla. Del Mar and La Jolla employ the use of one print
server at each location, while the Encinitas location does not.
The 56K modem between sites severely impacts the system response time for Kudler s network nodes.
Information that is traveling across sites at that low of a speed means that response times are going to
be rather lengthy. The

Princess Culture And Gender Stereotypes In Princess Movies
From a young age, princess culture has impacted the lives of numerous people. Some individuals may
have spent their childhood in the attire of their favorite Disney princess while they put on their best
rendition of the character they admired most. Other children went seemingly unfazed by the
phenomenon, as their peers remained spellbound by the magical world of princesses. With Disney s
debut of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, princess movies provided the defining factor of the
Disney entertainment empire for years to come. From this, fairy tales embarked into a territory that
would touch the lives of many in a new way. However, since princess culture has considerably grown,

By doing so, Disney princess culture increases gender roles and affects how young girls view

Bartyzel s wide array of evidence to support her claim that princess culture narrowly defines what
femininity means to young consumers makes her argument compelling. She used Disney s unfitting
princess makeover of the character Merida from Brave who desperately fought against princess ideals
in the movie as an example of how Disney has a habit of backtracking their own progress. Bartyzel
also provided accounts from mothers who support her claim by expressing that their daughters
behavior had been shaped by princess culture. Additionally, Disney routinely overshadows the
darkness of traditional fairy tales with overly idealistic narratives and has a history of depicting
harmful racial stereotypes, problematic female characterizations, and unrealistic storylines (Bartyzel,
2015). Bartyzel examined these stereotypes and problematic characterizations with the design
alterations made to Disney princesses; specifically, princesses of color. Finally, Bartyzel reinforced her
argument by conveying that women are diverse and to overlook these differences affects how young
girls view themselves. Bartyzel s professional presentation, the various forms of evidence, her counter
arguments, and her examination of the different issues tied to princess culture helped convey a strong
argument.
Bartyzel is not the only one who believes that Disney has a

Abstract The main idea of this experiment was to correctly identify the unknown bacteria, #3.
Identification of unknown bacteria yields multiple benefits in many different areas in the research of
microorganisms. In this experiment I performed many different test dealing with things such as the
presence of enzymes, fermentation abilities and different chemical reactions. Observations made from
the tests were then compared to a gram negative unknown chart in order to identify the bacteria. Based

In the Voges Proskauer test, I inoculated the tube with bacteria from my TSA plate and incubated the
tube at 37 degrees Celsius for 3 days. After three days I placed some Barrits Reagent A and Barrits

which tells you that the organism is a butanediol fermentor. For the Urease test, I incoluated my Urea
test tube with my unkown bacteria from a TSA plate using and inoculating loop. The Urea tube was
then incubated at 37 degrees Celsius for 8 days to observe for a color change. The Urea tests for the
ability of a bacteria grown in urea broth produces urease. This medium contains the pH indicator
phenol red. If urease is produced the pH of the media will raise thus causing the phenol red to change
from yellow to a pink color. I used an inoculating needle to stab the SIM test tube and then incubated
it at 37 degrees Celsius for 24 hours. The SIM test was used to test whether an organism has the
ability to reduce sulfur to hydrogen sulfide. Iron salts in the media reacts with the hydrogen sulfide to
form a black precipitate called ferric sulfide. If sulfur can be reduced than a black color will be seen in
the tube. This test also sees if an organism is and indole producer. Indole producers are bacteria that
produce the enzyme trytophanase which can hydrolyze tryptophan to pyruvate, ammonia and indole.

Pronouns, while seemingly minute, remain an aspect of language that embraces equality by allowing
for implications of one s speech to denote possession or relationship. Unlike the men Janie previously
married, Tea Cake demonstrates a marriage founded on unity, rather than ownership. Such equality

Here, Tea Cake demonstrates his desires as he hopes for Janie to remain united with him. Tea Cake
also acquires the input of his wife by asking questions demonstrating a genuine interest in her
opinions. His approach in speech allows for Janie to counter argue freely as an equal, rather than battle

experience freedom from persecution by filling old thoughts with new words ... to fit [these

  • 3. Symbols Used In Ground Zero Cross Among one of the most famous symbols used in Ground Zero is the Ground Zero Cross. It represents the spiritual and physical healing this country desperately needed. After the attacks on 9 11, Fr. Brian Jordan OFM, a Roman Catholic Franciscan priest, said it was a symbol of hope... [a] symbol of faith... [a] symbol of healing. Symbols are very important and influential to everyone. Symbols holds a hidden meaning that, in most cases, are more influential than telling it blunt. Yes, sometimes telling it bluntly works but putting it as a symbol shows a deeper meaning and relevance to what you, your community, or your nation stands for. This symbol, the Ground Zero Cross, reveals that our country believes in freedom for all. Focusing on religious freedom, we see how this cross shaped symbol shows that even when hit, literally or figuratively, for our beliefs we can still fight, move forward, and survive. ... By displaying things found in the rubble at the Ground Zero Museum it shows a walk through of what happened on that day. How Does Sherlock Holme Use Deductive Reasoning Compare/Contrast Essay Sir Arthur Conan Doyle s character, Sherlock Holmes, once said I consider that a man s brain originally is like a little empty attic, and you have to stock it with such furniture as you choose. This quote can be found in A Study in Scarlet and relates to how Sherlock feels about knowledge. Sherlock even seems to use this to help him reason and understand the characteristics of people who cross paths with him. Both The Great Mouse Detective (GMD) and Sherlock Holmes (SH) use characteristics, from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle s short stories, but they are depicted and intertwined into the stories very differently. In the movies The Great Mouse Detective and Sherlock Holmes, deductive reasoning is the main tool used to solve cases. Sherlock Holmes, the lead detective in SH, uses deductive reasoning to decipher how the antagonist pulls off the illusions. Basil of Baker Street, the lead detective in GMD, uses deductive reasoning in a similar way to figure out the antagonist s evil scheme. While deductive reasoning is used in both films, Sherlock Holmes seems to use it more uniformly, as opposed to Basil who appears to use deductive reasoning more sporadically. Sherlock also tends to rely less on others own reasoning, and more on their abilities to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To achieve this they lived a glamorous life, looking down on those below them in the social order. At first William does not outright show his feeling about slavery but subtly shows it by being a worker of God. To him a worker of God was one who made decisions and based their actions upon what they believed God wanted. In the beginning of the film, As a game of poker occurs with other members of Parliament in a bar, William plays against the Duke of Clarence a strong believer in slavery. The duke gambles off his young black coach driver, and Wilberforce slams down his cards in anger and storms off. Although he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Factors Affecting The Airline Industry Introduction: The September 11 attacks left a major impact that the airline industry is yet to recover from. Extended recession and increasing oil prices are the other major factors affecting the growth of the airline industry. At this scenario, the airlines operating with unoccupied seats make huge losses and sometimes the airliner even goes bankrupt; for instance, the kingfisher airlines in India has gone bankrupt due to failure in managing the unoccupied seats and inefficient management in their ticket pricing strategies. Even the recent disappearances of aircrafts from Malaysian airlines have unfavorably affected the global airline industry leaving airlines operating with vacant seats. It is very important for every airliner to create value for their shareholders; ticket pricing is the main source that an airliner can make revenue from. Therefore, airliners should have strategies that help them to be sustainable in the industry. I think that my research is on a problem that most of the airliners are facing today. Especially domestic airliners and the airlines with limited destinations are making more losses due to improper pricing strategies. This research focusses on creating a value to the airliner that I will be working for. It also creates value to the shareholders and stakeholders of the company. As every business is based on the customer satisfaction, my research is achievable if I could make a good analysis of customers needs and wants. Most importantly this ... • 9. A World Of Difference In James Sire s The Universe Next Door A World of Difference (Introduction): In the book The Universe Next Door written by James Sire begins with a brief explanation of what a Worldview is. As stated in the book by Sire, The essence of a worldview lies deep in the inner recesses of the human self. A Worldview involves the mind, but it is first of all a commitment, a matter of the soul. It is spiritual orientation more than it is a matter of mind alone (pg.20, Sire). The author states that it is from the heart that all one s thoughts and actions proceed. The basis of the introduction of Sire s book is answering the seven basic questions of worldview, including what is prime reality the really real? what is the nature of external reality, that is, the world around us? what is a human being? what happens to a person after death? Why is it possible to know anything at all? And finally, how do we know what is right and wrong? (pg.22). Also, the author asserts that by being able to answer some or many of the seven worldview questions that an individual has, then people can form their own worldviews for themselves. Sire discusses nine different worldviews by answering those seven questions, explaining them and depicting what each worldview system believes and does not. Thus, Sire closes the introduction of the book with two questions, Which is your universe? And Which are the universes next door? (pg. 24 Sire). Coppola also had these actors make lists of what they felt that their characters should do in different situations (Behr). This caused an effect of the script writing itself, as well as creating a deeper rift between it and the source material. Marlon Brando, who portrayed Kurtz, fed the fire of deep confusion where the script was concerned. Both Heart of Darkness, and Milius original script, as well as Coppola s later interpretation of these, called for the character of Kurtz to be a frail, sickly, and dying man. Brando, however, refused to get into shape as Coppola had requested. Brando was in fact so fat during filming that he was shy about it (Behr). Coppola first suggested that he rewrite the script to accommodate the character to Brando by setting him up as a gluttonous, man consumed by his own evil excesses (Behr). Brando refused to be undignified in his portrayal, so the filming, as well as the writing remained stagnant for days on end. In the end Coppola merely set Brando and Sheen free to improvise for three weeks, leaving him with an incoherent batch of footage that, with the exception of the death lines of The Horror! Music s calming effects can extend to children as well, as directors at Young Imaginations have seen for themselves. Young Imaginations is a private arts agency that provides music programs for 30 California schools. Executive director Marianne Locke speaks of their findings: When we play traditional Japanese and Chinese music or other slow pieces and pair them with movements, such as yoga and T ai Chi, the children become calmer and more able to focus their attention. (Cassidy 48) Following up on this observation, the organization is setting up an independent study to determine if children are calmer and perform better on certain learning tasks when exposed to slower and calmer pieces of music. In a separate and totally unrelated study, Harvard researcher Jerome Kagan reported a very interesting finding. The traditional definition of the historical fiction genre is fiction set in the past where the author is writing from research rather than personal experience. This definition leaves a lot of room for interpretation, controversy, and contradiction. Critics in the media, even when they praise individual historical novels in their reviews, somehow manage to turn this praise into criticism of the genre as a whole. In chapter 6 of the novel we see Huck s father, Pap, confronted with a finely dressed and educated free African American. As the man passes Pap states, There, now that s a specimen. • 16. Junie B Jones Character Analysis The Destructive Influence of Junie B. Jones The Junie B. Jones series has become extremely popular over the years. There are many people that love the stories because of how witty Junie B. is. It is also true that a large number of children can connect with her since Barbra Park created the series with Junie B. speaking in first person as the narrator. However, there are a lot of concerns with the amount of disrespect seen by Junie. Additionally, there could be an educational confusion for children who are trying to learn to read and pronounce words correctly. The Junie B. Jones series basically glorifies being bad, not listening to adults and using language that a five or six year old should not be using. The ruthless actions and improper usage of communication by Junie B. in the Junie B. Jones series can be very confusing and misleading for the young children that are expected to read these books. Character Choices The different types of characters in Junie B. Jones and a Little Monkey Business play important roles in the story. The diverse age groups help to show how Junie B. is disrespectful to all of those that surround her. The main characters are Junie B. Jones, Mother, Daddy, Grampa Miller, Grandma Miller, Lucille, that Grace, Mrs., that mean Jim, Ollie and the principle. These characters are very effective because they add to the story in their own individual ways. They were made to help keep the audience laughing, but in reality they just help by adding more people that Junie B. is disrespectful to in the story. Ruthless Actions Junie B. is characterized as an ungrateful and spoiled child. With that being said, many people believe that the actions of Junie B. Jones are minor and can be seen as fun and playful since her age. However, these are not the average actions of the well mannered six and seven year olds that may be reading the books. The way that the story is written makes children think that it is okay to have unacceptable behavior at a very young age. Junie B. continuously acts out and is regularly disobedient. The series more or less makes light of bad behavior. It is supposed to be funny when Junie B. does not respond to her parents when they are trying to speak to her, or when she ... It is usually made of softwood with an f shaped hole cut in it to amplify the sound coming from the strings, which are situated just above it. The keys sit on a simple rocker mechanism and strike the strings with brass blades called tangents. Under normal circumstances the strings are deadened by felt dampers lying very near to on end of the strings. As the key is depressed it strikes the string just past the felt damper and creates a temporary bridge for that string allowing it to vibrate. For the note to continue to vibrate the player must keep the key depressed. Also, due to the nature of the mechanism on the clavichord it is possible for the player to create vibrato by varying the amount of pressure put on a key once it has been depressed. Accordingly, each character deals with their oppression in a way that corresponds with their biblical counterparts, and in some cases, to prevent themselves from the oppression in which their biblical counterparts fall victim to. The rose petals, therefore, begin to symbolize the pursuit of love for Corinthians and its impossibility. Corinthians, however, also takes on the symbolism of Paul s letter to the people of Corinth in the Bible as like them, she would [violate her own sense of morality] to escape the velvet. • 29. Moralism In The Movie High Noon High Noon, the shocking American film from the 1950 s, shines light on the true nature of one standing their ground when the world is against them. This movie was written to represent the Red Scare, when Hollywood members were falsely accused of being communist. These actors were forced to give names of others who they thought were communists or else they would be punished. If the communist actors gave out names, however, they would be ruining other s careers. Some of the people refused to give names. Like the Marshall in the movie High Noon, these brave actors stood up for what they believed in. Nevertheless, the other members of Hollywood around were not very willing to support. They were like the townspeople in High Noon. They didn t want to risk their own reputation and safety. In the film, Zinnemann successfully revealed the hardships of those falsely convicted, and exposed the hearts of those who saw the false conviction, but did nothing about it in order to protect themselves. Directed by Fred Zinnemann, this thrilling motion picture s main character is a marshal named Cain, played by the actor Gary Cooper. He s asked by the townspeople to relocate because a few villains plan to kill him at high noon. Instead of heeding to the advice of the townspeople, Cain stands up for what he believes in, and stays to fight all four of the villains. People slowly remove themselves from him, and refuse to fight by his side. He has to face his enemies alone. High Noon is like many other works of literature which praised heroes who fought the fight alone. Helen Hannah, in the movie Judgment was mocked and put on trial for her religious beliefs. Tousle, in the novel Straw into Gold, broke out of the crowd, and spoke on behalf of innocent people being claimed as rebels. These heroes were ready and willing to put their life on the line for what they believe. However, it was not easy for any of them. Just like the other authors, Zinnemann wanted the audience to see the internal struggle the hero was having. The look on the marshal s face, the weariness in his gait, and his conflicting thoughts when he walked into the bar, and punched one of the men in the face, and was about to leave on the horse, but changed his ... In this era of color photography, a photograph like this with black, white and grey hues is a novelty, especially for the younger generation. On first glance, the exhibit appears to be a simple photograph of a cabin with two beds and two windows giving a view of a coastline and an ocean in the distance. Even then it does manage to strike a chord and one can identify with The Conflict Within the human mind. It is a perfect metaphorical representation of the two sides of the human mind. Its vastness is compelling. There are two beds inside the room. The bed to the left is covered with a ruffled bed sheet of indistinct and dull print. It even has a pillow flung on top of it. The other is covered neatly with a bright bed sheet having a flower print design. Here the pillow is tucked away beneath the sheet. Out of the two windows in the room, the one on the left has the shutter half way down and the one to the right has the shutter wide open. But both windows are shut and at the top, light can be seen streaming in mainly through the unshuttered window. It helps brighten, mostly the right side of the room. Windows and beds are separated by chasms of dark shadows. The walls are made of horizontal planks of wood. Outside the window, one can see shrubs causing a barricade like appearance. This is followed by the coastline and the ocean waves crashing against it. In the distance one can see the sky meeting the ocean at the horizon. This photograph of a bedroom overlooking the coastline in grey hues immediately sets one in a reflective mood. • 34. The Language And The Origin Of The English Language According to David Crystal, linguistics professor at the University of Wales, approximately 20 percent of the world can speak English. With English being the predominant language in the United States as well as many other parts of the world, it is undoubtedly one of the most significant languages in modern times. But have you ever wondered about the origins of the language you speak every day? Where did it come from? Did someone invent it? And why are some rules of the English language so weird? For example, why is geese the plural of goose? To get a better understanding of English, it is useful to learn about its long and complex history, and how the language the majority of us know and use today formed and evolved over time. To learn the history of the English language, we must first go back in time to Great Britain at about 50 BCE. According to Alastair Kane, writer for Communicaid business English courses, people here during this time period spoke in what is known as Celtic, but eventually, Latin also became an influence on their language because of commerce between Great Britain and Rome. Kane also writes that Latin further shaped the language of Great Britain after it was invaded by the Romans under Emperor Claudius. Although remnants of this English prototype can be observed in our modern language, the people of Great Britain certainly weren t speaking what could be considered actual English. • 36. A Brief Explanation Of The Prisoner s Dilemma Purpose: Introduction/background of problem The purpose of this discussion is to give a brief explanation of the Prisoner s Dilemma game, the notion of dominant strategy, and the concept of Nash equilibrium and cooperation. The Prisoner`s Dilemma game helps us understand what governs the balance between cooperation and competition in business, in politics, and in social settings (Dixit Nalebuff, 2008). An example, of a traditional method of this game is how a school principal resolve student conflicts by talking to both parties involved to determine the circumstance of the event that occurred. The strategy in this method is to try and determine the truth by listening to two conflicting stories of events. The Prisoner`s Dilemma in economics can be applied when we look at competing business and how they market their products to receive the best possible revenue. An example of this is the automobile industry and how to compete with one another for customer sale through competitive pricing and incentives. The notion of dominant strategy is the notion that one strategy is better than the other and this notion could typically give one side an advantage over another. This is great information to have but it all depends on how this information is implemented in a company s business practices. The concept of Nash equilibrium and cooperation is a concept that was developed by a mathematics graduate named, John Forbes Nash. The idea of the Nash ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bartyzel s wide array of evidence to support her claim that princess culture narrowly defines what femininity means to young consumers makes her argument compelling. She used Disney s unfitting princess makeover of the character Merida from Brave who desperately fought against princess ideals in the movie as an example of how Disney has a habit of backtracking their own progress. Bartyzel also provided accounts from mothers who support her claim by expressing that their daughters behavior had been shaped by princess culture. Additionally, Disney routinely overshadows the darkness of traditional fairy tales with overly idealistic narratives and has a history of depicting harmful racial stereotypes, problematic female characterizations, and unrealistic storylines (Bartyzel, 2015). Bartyzel examined these stereotypes and problematic characterizations with the design alterations made to Disney princesses; specifically, princesses of color. Finally, Bartyzel reinforced her argument by conveying that women are diverse and to overlook these differences affects how young girls view themselves.
