Osmosis In A Decalcified Egg Lab Report
Osmosis in a Decalcified Egg to Determine the Glucose Content of an Egg
Tovah King

7/5/2017
Abstract: Diffusion is the transfer of molecules from an area that has a higher concentration to an area
that has a lower concentration. Osmosis is the diffusion of water. The purpose of this experiment was
to study the process of osmosis. In order to test osmosis, eggs that had been soaking in vinegar were
taken and placed in four beakers of solution with different levels of glucose. Using this experiment we
were able to determine the rate of osmosis of different solutions, with various amounts of glucose,
through eggs. In the results of this lab it was found that the eggs were either hypertonic or hypotonic
and that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The eggs were each individually placed in one of the beakers and were taken out and weighed every
15 minutes for 60 minutes. Weighing the eggs helped to test the process of osmosis by finding out the
mass before and after soaking in water, this will dictate whether water has moved in or out of the egg.
Materials and Methods Procedure is found on pages 235 to 236 in the BIOL 110 Lab Manual.
Results
Four eggs that were previously soaked in vinegar were placed into four beakers with different levels of
a glucose solution. The four beakers were filled with distilled water, 0.5M glucose, 1.5M glucose and
2.0M glucose. After the eggs were placed in the solutions, they were left for 60 minutes but weighed
every 15 minutes to record whether there was an increase or a decrease in mass. The various masses
were recorded as well as the percent change in mass. These were then recorded as line graphs. From
this it was able to be determined if the egg had been in a hypotonic, hypertonic or isotonic solution,
thus being able to determine if osmosis had occurred.
Conclusion When the 4 eggs were weighed it was found that out of the 4 solutions, 2 were hypotonic
and 2 were hypertonic. The mass of 2 of the eggs increased and the other 2 decreased after 60 minutes
in the various solutions. Out of the 4, the most hypotonic solution was the distilled water; and the most
hypertonic solution was the solution with 2.0M glucose. The

Lucille if she would join him in Uganda to work as the hospital s first and only surgeon. They
travelled to Gulu, Uganda, to practice medicine and to help those in need. She was the only doctor
there so she saw lots of patients and lots of surgery in hard conditions sometimes. But this glorious
work she did would kill her by contracting aids, she was told that she would die in two years still

Exxon Mobil Resources and Capabilities Essay
Exxon Mobile is one of the most successful companies in the oil and energy industries today. But what
makes them so successful? In an effort to answer this question, a thorough internal investigation can
be helpful in determining what aspects of this company are making it an industry leader. Two aspects
of this internal analysis of Exxon Mobile are the company s resources and capabilities.
Resources
One of the most reputable resources that Exxon Mobil has today is a strong brand name. Exxon Mobil
operates all over the world and is recognized in every part of the world (Datamonitor, 2008). When
people all over the world know who a company is, what they do, and where they are located, the
company gains a unique competitive advantage over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another important resource that Exxon possesses is the presence of human expertise capital
throughout the company (Datamoitor, 2008). Exxon employs many scientists and engineers that are
researching and finding new ways to gain access to more energy resources and make the new
innovations less harmful to the environment (Annual Report, 2007). This human capital has proven to
be a very important resource for the company as shown by their development of new ways to increase
liquid natural gas supplies and enhancing heavy oil recovery (Annual Report, 2007). Using the
VRINE model again, I will assess this resource.
In analyzing the value of the human expertise capital, again we must consider whether this resource
helps the company meet market demand and can eliminate some uncertainty. In this case, I believe
that the unique research department that houses these scientists and engineers is one that gives the
company a great capability to compete in the market, and even excel within the industry. I believe it
also eliminates some uncertainty because while the company is researching and developing cutting
edge technology, it keeps them knowledgeable about all the new innovations and ideas that are
throughout the industry. This makes the resource very valuable.
Next, the rarity of the resource must be analyzed. I believe that this resource is rare because of the
entire department (the Upstream Research Center)

Compare And Contrast The Salem Witch Trials And The...
People often fear the history that the world has had because history often repeats itself. The Salem
Witch Trials and The Rosewood Incident occurred in two different time periods but had many things
in common such as innocent deaths due to hate and the need for revenge.
The Salem Witch Trials occurred in January of 1692 and 1693 in Salem, Massachusetts(Salem Witch
Trials). The main child of the trials was Abigail Williams who accused many innocent people of
witchcraft(Salem Witch Trials). Abigail knew the consequences of the accusations would be to hang
the people doing the witchcraft(Salem Witch Trials). Abby then convinced her friends to follow the
accusations and because of them, the girls became cold blooded murderers(Salem Witch Trials). Now
the girls didn t directly kill them, they accused the innocent people of witchcraft and got those people
killed(Salem Witch Trials). Bridget ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Rosewood Incident was also known as the Rosewood Massacre(Rosewood Massacre). A rumor
claimed a white woman was raped by a black man(Rosewood Massacre). Before the rape a white
teacher was killed in school(Rosewood Massacre). Jesse Hunter was a black man and was thought to
be the killer he was also accused of the rape allegations(Rosewood Massacre). From these incidents
white men took matters into their own hands(Rosewood Massacre). A white mob suspected Aaron s
cousin, sylvester carrier, a Rosewood resident of harboring the fugitive, Jesse Hunter(Rosewood
Massacre). On January 4, 1923 a group of twenty to thirty white men approached the carrier home and
shot the family dog(Rosewood Massacre). When sylvester s mother Sarah came to the porch to
confront the mob they shot and killed her as well(Rosewood Massacre). Sylvester them defended his

Mass Media and Its Influence
Mass Media and Its Influence Spoken, written, or broadcast communication whose medium may

Internet becomes a mass media that affects our society s perception of ourselves and others and
influences the structures of our society as well as the reactions of the individual. Americans perceive
the political, economic, class, educational, and other structures of American society because of, by,
and through the media. The American understanding of these structures within its society as well as
those structures outside of the United States are manipulated and directed by the media. Similarly, the

Television and its self directed version, cable, allow for the mass influence of these elements in both
positive and negative ways. The positive aspects of violence and competition within the socially
accepted structures of competitive youth sports and athletics promoted on TV and in video games and
equally, in the fashion, dance, and young love seen in sitcoms, movies, and MTV music videos.
Conversely, the use of junk foods, cigarettes, drugs, and alcohol combined with irresponsible, casual
sex, excessive and explicit violence dominate much of the negative influence of media on America s
youth. Joseph Dominic concludes, that youngsters that are heavy TV viewers would display a pattern
of beliefs and perceptions consistent with media portrayals (Dominick, 446). Regarding violence in
mass media, again the young are exposed to a culture of violence reflected in the media. How the
media sells or promotes those perceptions is the reality of the media. From a war somewhere in the
world to the wars in someone s home, the media directs the interpretation of what is necessary,
correct, moral, and immoral. From what is happening, is not happening, should happen, might and will
happen, and what is and is not the cost the media influences our realities and reactions. This has
resulted in Saturday morning cartoons that are as full of

The Genesis Of The Business Model Canvas
The genesis of the Business Model Canvas (BMC) consists of nine building blocks that describe a
business model. They are: Customer Segments, Value Propositions, Customer Relationships,
Channels, Revenue Streams, Key Partners, Key Activities, Key Resources and Cost Structure.
(Osterwalder, A., Pigneur, Y, 2010) One of the unique features of the approach of the Business Model
Canvas is that this tool allows for easy, visual representation for decision makers to think about. The
tool provides a dissection of the major concerns impacting the business and also represents the
direction the organization is taking through its business model. As author Dan Roam states, visual
thinking to solve complex problems is what the BMC is all about. The Business Model Generation
does have it strengths and weaknesses. Perhaps the main asset of the BMC is the visual illustration.
One main drawback is the limited aim of an organization; that is, it targets profit generation and for
non profit purposes of an organization. The benefits will be touched on below, but the
Osterwalder/Pigneu business model leaves out one key ingredient. Omitting the basic fact that
competition is not mentioned in this theory seems to be a glaring omission. Advancement springs from
competition and so does better customer service. In our reading, the business model canvas is a great
tool that fosters understanding, discussions, creativity and analysis. The nine basic blocks demonstrate

Furthermore, she expresses the theme in her writing through the characters actions and words. Pam
Muñoz Ryan told the story of Ivy Maria Lopez, who is the daughter of a farm worker and who

A Study On Child Development Essay
Introduction Observing a child will increase the knowledge on how child react in different situations;
also, comparing to other cases, there might be some similarities, but there must be differences. In these
observations, we are focused on the social relationships, reactions, language, and emotion. Based on
what we have learned in the class, I know children a bit more than usual. Some children might be
more mature than their ages, but some children might not be on their ages yet. For example, asking
children to solve the same problem that some children can finish it very quick, but some of them finish
it slower or cannot finish it at all. I have done several observations before using running record, time
sampling, and other observation system. Even though case studies provide child development major
students a lot of examples, it cannot be sure that every child will act the same way. From the previous
experiences, the child I observed was active and had good social relationships with her peers and
teachers. She gave me a feeling like she was not only five years old. Based on we could not talk to the
child while observing that prevent us to get more information we needed. Collecting data from the
target child is only from what we saw and what we heard that made me not able to get the information
which was on the assignment sheets. Additionally, there was time limit for every observation. Since I
did not know the child well, it was challenge to understand why the child had

Play Offers Children Rich Learning Environments
Play is the most common activity in childhood. Trough play children can learn, create, and, socialize
at the same time it helps children to increase their knowledge. That is why Crowther states, In
summary, play offers children rich learning experiences that enhance all levels of development
(Crowther, 2016, p. 12). In this particular observation, Clara and Maria agreed to play the roles of
mother and daughter when they started to play. For that reason, I consider that the stage which is the
most appropriate to that style of activity is cooperative play. In her book, Creating Effective Learning

as repetitive play or practice play (Crowther, 2016, p. 6). It was obvious when Jairo repeated the
alphabet that he was very capable of doing it. Section 4
Environment and Materials In general, people believe that the atmosphere has a big role in the
learning environment. It is not an exception in the preschool room of my field placement centre. The
children are encouraged to play because the environment is adequate and has maximized learning
spaces, indoor space and storage. First, in terms of space maximization there is not too much room to
have many learning centres. According to Crowther, One way to maximize space is by placing centres
that are linked closer together so that the space and many of the materials can be shared effectively
(Crowther, 2016, p. 38). It is one of the most amazing things that they do in this preschool room. The
children can play with sand or water in the sensory centre. The inconvenience is that children cannot
play with sand and water at the same time. However, this does not really matter. The ECE plans

We tend to think that whether one ought to be retained in a particular job position depends on whether
they are qualified for the job, rather than whether they are a generally decent person. Suggesting that
Tiger, Kobe, Magic, or Jordan should not be allowed to pursue their profession in virtue of their
personal indiscretions would amount to a unique kind of discrimination. From the standpoint of
employment qualifications, one s sexual behavior is usually an irrelevant consideration. This brings us
to the second consideration concerning punishment in one s professional life based on actions in one s
personal life. We tend to think that there is an important separation between one s public life and one s
private affairs. When one is a celebrity like Tiger Woods, this line is blurred considerably, and one
might claim that the loss of this distinction is the price one pays for fame. However, this imposes an
arbitrary constraint on a person s individual freedoms. If one has a right to the maintenance of a public
and a private sphere, the fact that a person is famous is not obviously a reason for violating this right.
THE COMPANIES THAT DROPPED TIGER WOODS The second ethical question raised by the
Tiger Woods affair scandal concerns whether it is ethical to break a professional contract based on a
person s actions in their personal life. This is a complicated question, and I will limit the discussion to
one pertinent facet of it. If Tiger

Descriptive Essay On A Tridaday Morning
Wednesday Morning
It is a typical Wednesday morning, the middle of the week, and I m running late to school. It s 7:43
and most students are making a mad dash to beat the morning bell, others linger around the green
courtyard, catching up with friends, dreading going to class. I make my way through the maze of
students, and I catch my best friend, Lauren, in the stairwell at the top of A building, both on our way
to the history class we have together. We do not say a word, just share a look that says we want to go
home and we need more coffee, before we head into class.
Our class is always in chaos in the mornings. The boys compare what they have for breakfast today
and discuss last night s baseball game play by play, while the girls get together and share a bit of
gossip they heard last night and begin to make plans for the weekend. Today was no exception. Just as
the tardy bell rings, I sit in my seat at the corner of the room and notice that Kaylin, who sits behind
me, is crying. Her face is red and blotchy and she is staring at her phone. I choose to act like I do not
notice, because it must have been a rough morning and I would not want anyone bothering me if I
were in her position. Then Abbie, who sits in the desk beside Kaylin, comes in a few minutes late, also
crying. Lauren and I exchange confused glances, and I suddenly realize our teacher, Mrs. Hendrix, isn

Behavioural Change
Theory of Behaviour Change Theories of behavioural change are used during program planning
because they help explain and predict how individuals go through change. Understanding how and
why people change is useful in the selection of program activities and outcomes (Hodges Videto,
2011). Theory Guiding Program Plan The Social Cognitive Theory will be used to guide the program
plan. This theory describes change at the interpersonal level. This means that the beliefs and actions of
friends, family, peers and co workers can influence why one changes (Hodges Videto, 2011). What is

it is quite different from the program we have planned. This study does describe the participants, and

A Late Encounter With the Enemy by Flannery O’Connor

of the past upon the present, particularly with respect to the lost ideals of a dispossessed Southern

theme that O Connor brings to the table in A Late Encounter with the enemy, along with The

The Grandfather is the grotesque character in the short story for his age and for his experiences, and is
a link to a past that America wants to dissociate itself with. Since the grandfather is one hundred and
four years old and is a living relic of the civil war, specifically a piece of confederate memorabilia, his
granddaughter and most of the townspeople come close to worshipping him. The man is paraded
around, and then displayed in a roped off area to be shown to people during their confederate holiday
(O Connor 89). In truth the grandfather has no recollection of the civil war and most of his life in fact
he had probably been a foot soldier; he didn t remember what he had been; in fact, he didn t remember
that war at all. This is symbolic of a time that was long ago in the south that people boast about, but no
one truly remembers what really went on, and what is truly historically accurate. People call the man
The General but truly he was not a general but a foot solider that was lucky enough to live to the point
that he has. Not even his uniform was the same as what he had worn in the civil war it was no more
than a movie prop that was given to him to inflate his fame,(O Connor 88) and to make him a larger

Causes Of Learned Helplessness
Learned helplessness is approximately seen as cognitive individual variables that mirrors the habitual
manner where students exhibit the causes of bad events that occur them (Peterson Barrett, 1987; Lin
Peterson, 1990). Therefore, there are three causes that can impact students achievement because of the
bad events that students face which are internal against externality, stability against instability, and
globality against specificity. Thus, students who clarify bad events with the three causes internal,
stable, and global causes manifests more acute debilitation in their wake, passivity, and poor problem
solving. Indeed, these causes are called explanatory style, so explanatory style tends to be depressive
style. Nevertheless, explanatory

Amendments Of The 14th Amendment
During the period after the Civil War, in the Reconstruction era, the United States adopted three
amendments. These three amendments are the 13th, 14th, and 15th. In 1865, the ratification of the
13th amendment abolished slavery (Berlin). The 14th amendment protects privileges and immunities
from abridgement, assures due process of law prior to deprivations of life, liberty, or property, and
prohibits denials of equal protection of the laws (Steiker). The 15th amendment granted African
American men the right to vote. All three of these amendments, known as the Civil Rights
amendments, gave rights and ensured equality to recently emancipated slaves. The law granted rights
to African Americans and protected them from explicitly race based capital codes (Steiker). African
Americans, although had more rights at this point, were still treated with extreme racial hostility,
especially in the Southern states. The law was complicit, as it still allowed for discriminatory
behavior. In The American Death Penalty and the (In)Visibility of Race, Carol Steiker writes, Race
continued to influence the application of facially neutral capital statutes through prosecutorial
discretion, all white sentencing juries, and the practice of extrajudicial execution by lynch mobs. What
this means is that laws were being created in ways that African Americans would still not receive
equal treatment. In certain circumstances law enforcement officers even handed over blacks to lynch
mobs.

Mussolini Invasion Of Italy
While Mussolini focused on his expansion goals, he failed to create an efficient and popular domestic
policy. His programs, aimed at improving financial conditions for the average Italians, resulted in a
decrease in the Italian standard of living (Duggan, 2013). However, by the time his programs were
revealed as failures, Mussolini had already accomplished a totalitarian takeover of the government.
Dissent was not permitted. The secret police and other governmental organizations suppressed dissent
among adults, and a government controlled media strictly monitored what news Italians received
(Duggan, 2013). In 1934, Mussolini engaged in more direct attempts at expansionism. Abyssinia was
next to the Italian colony Somalia, in the African desert. In 1934, Italian soldiers attacked British and
Abyssinian troops at Wal Wal, in the preparation of an Italian invasion of Abyssinia (Duggan, 2013).

My Role Model In My Life
Most life changing events happen with someone whom you truly trust. It is easy to ignore people,
withdraw, and not form relationships built on love and reliance. I have truly grown closer to my role
model in my life. Matt Harp, my role model, is a man of truth, integrity, love, selflessness, and
compassion. Many different times he surprised me with how he acted, spoke and thought. I clearly
saw the Lord lead his life, and his actions revealed as much. I wanted to follow his example. He led
me through junior high, what was definitely the toughest part of my life. Looking back, I can only
imagine what would have happened in my life if I had not grown to trust this honorable man. There
are many different times where Matt taught me a life lesson, but these three are the most prominent.
He taught me how to be unique, be yourself, always be willing to share, and to never give up, even
when you are tired. As a groovy guy, my small group leader always wore what the coolest clothes. I
loved to talk to him about it. I said I love your style. Where do you buy your clothes? Many different
times, I wore similar clothes to him. I started wearing unique socks, colored jeans, and many other
things. He took more notice than I realized. One day he took me aside and said You don t have to live
exactly like someone else, you just need to be you. He insisted, saying don t just copy me because you
like the way that I dress, find your own groove. I took these small statements to heart.

We ve created a mash up of The Wizard of Oz and The Princess Bride. The Wicked Witch of the West,

Hopping Merlino, has stolen her ruby slippers. The film follows the Witch in her attempt to track

Dorothy who challenges the Witch to a battle of the wits. Our goal was to create a comedic homage to
two of our favorite movies. We were limited in terms of location due to a snowstorm that decided to
roll in the weekend we had planned for filming. We then picked locations around campus that had
minimal background noise. Because of the location and our film budget,

Anxiety And Social Anxiety
Fear is a common emotion exhibited by people who stutter (PWS). The fear of negative evaluation is
commonly displayed by PWS (Fjola, 1246); when this fear is significantly excessive, the PWS may
meet the criteria for a clinical diagnosis of social anxiety (Brundage, Winters, Beilby, p. 499). Social
anxiety frequently causes PWS to isolate themselves from social interactions, and, when in situations,
to utilize safety behaviors to prevent stuttering and reduce anxiety. Safety behaviors consequently
maintain social anxiety in PWS rather than exacerbate the disorder (Lowe et al., 2017, pp. 1246 1247).
More is known regarding the development of social anxiety is adults who stutter (AWS) than the
information pertaining to children who stutter (CWS) and their fear of negative evaluation which
results in social anxiety (Iverach, Menzies, O Brian, Packman, Onslow, 2011, p. 228). The difference
in available information may be due to the thought that social anxiety is a short term effect in CWS
but a life long effect in AWS (Iverach, Jones, McLellan, Lyneham, Menzies, Onslow, Rapee, 2016, p.
15).
Social Anxiety Social anxiety is a disorder in which individuals assume that they will be negatively
evaluated. This results in an extreme fear of social situations or performance based situations (Iverach,
Rapee, Wong, Lowe, 2017, p. 542) for a period of time lasting longer than six months (Brundage et
al., p. 498). Those with social anxiety fear negative judgement during

Extended Definition Of Success
When it comes time to defining success there are plenty of ways that success can be put into a
definition. The main definition that I go by for the word success is that if you aren t doing a career that
makes you happy no matter what they pay grade is then you have not reach success. The definition
that I provided means that it doesn t always have to be about making a certain wage but what you are
doing in life it needs to be a career you are excited to do every morning. You a person become
successful or have success you will see it in their face because they will be more than happy to work
at any time or even work over time, if they have too. Success is something that, you, as a human have

Acute Respiratory Failure
Mechanical ventilation is the treatment for patients who show the sign of acute respiratory failure.
Patients would get acute respiratory distress from inadequate oxygenation or ventilation that
associated with hypoxemia without or with hypercapnia. Mechanical ventilation is used for these
patients based on when the patients partial pressure of oxygen in arterial (PaO2) is less than 50 mm
Hg and partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO2) greater than 50 mm Hg.1 Under normal condition,
when patients are breathing normal or spontaneous the diaphragm contracts on inhalation, moving

Andersonville Prison epitomized the ultimate crime against humanity. The atrocities that transpired in
this confederate prison sparked reaction and outrage at the conclusion of the Civil War. During the
American Civil War, a prisoner of war was a person who was captured and imprisoned by the enemy.
Both the Union and the Confederates had to deal with such matters of prisoners of war. According to
Gabor S. Boritt, both the North and the South each had approximately 30 prison camps that held about
194,000 Union soldiers and about 214,000 Confederate soldiers during the Civil War. (Boritt 1989)

it still had much better supply flow into its walls. Alton, Illinois Federal prison was one of the first

Territorial Expansion DBQ
Manifest destiny and territorial expansion divided the United States from 1830 to 1860 through views
on Texas, disagreements regarding whether or not it was justifiable to travel west for land, and how to
handle the war that may have arisen as a result of territorial expansion. There was much division
among Americans regarding what should be done with Texas. Some argued that it should join the
other states so that there could be peace between them and Texas (Document F) and that it would
make the slaves more comfortable by providing them with more land and support (Document C.)
However, others argued that annexing Texas would create a dangerous imbalance of slave and free
states. In Document B, Reverend William Ellery Channing claimed that By annexing Texas, we shall
not only create [slavery] where it does not exist, but breathe new life into it, where its end seemed to
be near. In other words, by including Texas as a free state, slavery would only continue to spread for a
longer amount of time than it would have originally. This would, of course, extend the entire conflict
of whether or not slavery was just. This controversy over Texas greatly divided the states amongst
themselves. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Three Alones Of Reformation Theology
Question 1. What are the three alones of Reformation theology? How do they relate to one another in
Luther s theology? How does Luther s use of them respond to the dominant question of the sixteenth
century: How can I know that God is favorable to me?
The three alones in Reformation theology refer to that which is needed for justification or salvation
favorableness in the sight of God. Luther describes them as 1) Christ, or the Gospel of Christ
(Scripture), alone, 2) faith alone, and 3) grace alone. Each of these three are essentially united in
Luther s theology.
Christ is the most important factor in the three, because without Christ and without His Word, as
recorded in Scripture, one cannot begin to have faith or hope to receive the necessary grace that comes
with faith and guarantees salvation. As Luther states, One thing, and one alone, is necessary for life,
justification, and Christian liberty; and that is the most holy word of God, the Gospel of Christ
(Luther, p. 9). Through Christ and the preaching of His Word comes belief. If one believes, that is has
faith, which implies trust and commitment, then one is justified and has found favor in God s eyes:
For faith alone, and the efficacious use of the word of God, bring salvation (Luther, p. 9)
Luther downplays the importance of works in the justification of man and instead emphasizes the
place of faith and the grace that goes with it: For the word of God cannot be received and honoured by
any works,

Analysis Of Donald Trump s Campaign
In an effort to control mentioning of Donald Trump, close examination of popular media outlets with
large audiences will enable the campaign to see changes to rhetoric or schedule of statement releases
(there are, on average, over 200,000 mentions every month). (Politico Staff, 2016) Campaign staff as
well as Trump himself will be speaking with media in a manner that promotes a tight hold on
delegates over the course of the election. Rallies will require significant control efforts because of
protesters. Press conferences will enable the campaign to release accurate information at appropriate
times. This helps keep information circulating in the public to be favorable. Social media is now a

The Impact of Acronyms Use in Facebook on Language
Based on the observations and results that I gathered for 2 weeks, I found out that most of my
participant who uses Facebook daily uses acronym to update their status, provide feedback or

Facebook. For my research, I found out 5 most common acronyms used by my participants which are
BT, FYI, TQ, BTW, and FB. When asked about this, my sample gives out different opinion and reason
on why they tend to use this acronym when using Facebook.
In my view, they use acronym to shorten the sentence when they update their status in Facebook via
Facebook mobile as well as to reduce the time taken to type the full sentence. When asked about
whether using acronym limited the use and application of languages, they did not think about it at all.
For example, Mr. K from Evidence 4 stated that he does not care about language when he update his
status or chat with his friend in Facebook. For him, he only cares about using correct form of language
when he was in a formal environment, as an example, speaking to his English lecturer.

order to narrow my observation. However, I will discuss the 5 acronyms more in the view of semantic.

Gilgamesh Human Relationship
The Relationship Between Humans With the Natural World The epic Gilgamesh was originally from
2000 B.C. and the story at first was told orally. The first written form of the story was from ancient
Sumerian in cuneiform on clay tablets. It was later translated by Herbert Mason in 2003. This poem is
about a king named Gilgamesh, who wants to have supremacy and authority over everything in his
environment. During the his journey he learns important lessons about the outcomes of this yearning
for power over life. Furthermore, the book Ishmael written by Daniel Quinn in 1995, discusses the
concepts of authority that relate to people s appetite for control. Gilgamesh s quest demonstrates that
humans find that control is necessary to succeed on the voyage of existence. It also displays that
curiosity is a key trait that drives humans to push boundaries. Gilgamesh learns that the ability of
humans to overpower their surroundings may have unintended consequences. According to this epic,
humans seek to conquer and subdue the natural world, and make it fit to human needs and desires,
which ends up destroying the world. On the expedition to accomplishment, humans think it is
necessary to have domination. Humans, from the beginning of their existence, have learned that the
only way to acquire what they desire is to conquer it. When conquering humans find it necessary to
show force. This can be seen in American history with the first European settlers that came to North
America. The settlers at first had enough land to satisfy them; however, as the population grew, these
settlers needed more land. As a result of needing more land, the settlers took land until they had
complete authority over it. Having complete command over the land they acquired lead the settlers to
have successful communities. The achievement obtained relates to Gilgamesh s belief that if he has all
the rule, nothing could get in his way. In this poem, Gilgamesh wants to display to the people of his
kingdom that he is powerful by deciding to go on an expedition to kill Humbaba. We go to kill the
Evil One, / Humbaba. We must prove/ Ourselves more powerful than he (Mason 27). This first
quotation emphasizes the idea that Gilgamesh believes that to gain

Comparative Analysis of Vertigo, North by Northwest and Notorious by Alfred Hitchcock
The British master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock, made the cinematographic history by the unique
auteur approach. His own vision of the story, uncommon manner of shooting, and challenging ideas
formed his style and made him recognizable. The genius of the 50 s and 60 s, he provided the rich
legacy for the future generations and set the pace for the directors all over the world. This paper is
going to trace the specific features of Alfred Hitchcock through the analysis of three of his world
known masterpieces, namely Vertigo, North by Northwest and Notorious. The discussion of the films
will be based on three cinematographic elements: genre, use of motifs, and camera set ups.
Genre
Alfred Hitchcock is fairly referred to as the pioneer of the psychological thrillers. Though such genre
did not exist in the 50 s, it would soon be transformed from the so called suspense films (Thompson
41). The director was obviously a true master of making his audience feel afraid and anxious all his
innovative techniques and auteur approach were directed to create a genuine feeling of suspense. The
genre always implied psychoanalytical elements as well as those of violence and murders.
All the films under consideration make a good example of the plot including mystery and murders.
Presented in artistic visual form, they can be defined as the typical suspense films by Hitchcock. In

My Papa s Waltz Tone
Waltzing Was Not Easy
In My Papa s Waltz written by Theodore Roethke, the speaker describes his childhood memory as a
beautiful bonding experience. The speaker met the whiskey on his father s breath as they waltzed into
the kitchen. The mother watching nearby began to feel anger because they knocked the pans from the
shelves. His strong hands held the boy s wrist tightly as the waltzing continued. When the whiskey
missed a step, his right ear scraped father s belt buckle. While clinging to his father s shirt, the boy is
waltzed off to bed. In reality, the reader experiences negative imagery and tone between the father and
son relationship. A person such as the poet would use ambiguity to describe an abusive childhood
memory because the speaker is incapable to view reality and is forced to only look at the good to
escape fear.
In the first stanza, the poet does not include any physical abuse, but he does include substance abuse.

think the father beat time on the child s head with his hand at a hard force. Since the father was drunk,
he is incapable of feeling or knowing how much force he exerted on the child. At the end while the

Postmodernism And Its Influence On Modern Society
Postmodernism is a complex term that has tried to be describes by many different theorist in many
different ways. Some say that it is so hard to define because it is an idea that emerges across and
variety of disciplines. In its most basic form Postmodernism can be describes at departure from
modernism and is characterized by the self conscious use of earlier styles and conventions, a mixing
of different artistic styles and media, and a general distrust of theories (Oxford Dictionary, 2010). So
with this definition in mind we must look at modernism and the movement away from this to
postmodernism. We will also look at the characteristic of postmodernism and how it is represented in
the media culture.
The phrase postmodernism was used to depict a style in architecture in the early 1960 s, this style used
components from the past architectural styles and combined them to create buildings. This term was
coined and used by cultural and political theorist to express contemporary Western and global society,
two of theorists which will be discussed is Fredric Jameson and Linda Hitcheon who have apposing
views on the theory.
Fredric Jameson is an American literary critic and Marxist political theorist. Jameson argues that a
shift in the economic society began in the late 1960 s, and that the world is moving into a phase he
calls late capitalism. Jameson view is that there is a link between the economic changes that has lead
to a postmodern style of living, however that it

Many people believe Cannibalism should be legal world wide, but only have reasoning s of culture
and religions. Cannibalism should be illegal because of immorality, diseases , and murder by eating
someone s flesh. The History of Cannibalism is small, yet widely spread around the world. The
Korowai Tribe has been around since 1974, they are known for killing outsiders, and to be afraid of
pale skinned people (Raffaele). If Cannibalism stays legal, the isolated tribes could possibly expand,
and want to kill any pale skinned person, or anyone not from their tribe. The Carib tribe was the first
known tribe to commit acts of cannibalism to their enemies, which became increasingly rare once the
introduction of Christianity was introduced in the area (Mind Q). Once the human race became more
active in moral behavior, Cannibalism was outcast, giving it no reason to be legal within our current
society. The Aztecs are known as one of the most brutal tribes to date, the Aztecs would commit
thousands of human sacrifices a year (Mind Q). When you have Cannibals eating live hearts (Mind
Q), and making human bodies into multiple dishes just after ripping their

Effective Management Of Operations And Supply Chain
Introduction Effective management of operations and supply chain is a crucial source of competitive
advantage for any business in a rigorously competitive environment. Operations management
generally denotes the process of managing a firm s resources with the ultimate aim of delivering value
to the customer (Krajewski, Ritzman Malhotra, 2013). To stay ahead of the competition, an
organisation must constantly strive to transform its operations it must seek to eliminate inefficiencies
in the supply chain. This report compares the operations of 99p Stores and Sainsbury s fulfilment
process. Sainsbury, which was founded more than one and a half centuries ago, is one of the most
popular retailers in the UK, commanding the third largest market share after Tesco and Asda (Christie,
2013). 99p Stores is also a retailer that operates in the UK, though it is quite smaller compared to
Sainsbury. While Sainsbury has been doing online retailing since 1996, 99p Stores is currently in the
process of testing the viability of online retailing.
Operations Transformation The primary aim of any transformation process is to deliver value to the
customer. From primary activities such as raw material acquisition and marketing to support activities
such as procurement and human resource management, an organisation aims to create value for the
end consumer. Transforming these operations is vital for survival in an environment characterised by
stiff competition. Some of the operations

  • 2. Osmosis In A Decalcified Egg Lab Report Osmosis in a Decalcified Egg to Determine the Glucose Content of an Egg Tovah King C62 7/5/2017 Abstract: Diffusion is the transfer of molecules from an area that has a higher concentration to an area that has a lower concentration. Osmosis is the diffusion of water. The purpose of this experiment was to study the process of osmosis. In order to test osmosis, eggs that had been soaking in vinegar were taken and placed in four beakers of solution with different levels of glucose. Using this experiment we were able to determine the rate of osmosis of different solutions, with various amounts of glucose, through eggs. In the results of this lab it was found that the eggs were either hypertonic or hypotonic and that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The eggs were each individually placed in one of the beakers and were taken out and weighed every 15 minutes for 60 minutes. Weighing the eggs helped to test the process of osmosis by finding out the mass before and after soaking in water, this will dictate whether water has moved in or out of the egg. Materials and Methods Procedure is found on pages 235 to 236 in the BIOL 110 Lab Manual. Results Four eggs that were previously soaked in vinegar were placed into four beakers with different levels of a glucose solution. The four beakers were filled with distilled water, 0.5M glucose, 1.5M glucose and 2.0M glucose. After the eggs were placed in the solutions, they were left for 60 minutes but weighed every 15 minutes to record whether there was an increase or a decrease in mass. The various masses were recorded as well as the percent change in mass. These were then recorded as line graphs. From this it was able to be determined if the egg had been in a hypotonic, hypertonic or isotonic solution, thus being able to determine if osmosis had occurred. Conclusion When the 4 eggs were weighed it was found that out of the 4 solutions, 2 were hypotonic and 2 were hypertonic. The mass of 2 of the eggs increased and the other 2 decreased after 60 minutes in the various solutions. Out of the 4, the most hypotonic solution was the distilled water; and the most hypertonic solution was the solution with 2.0M glucose. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Exxon Mobil Resources and Capabilities Essay Exxon Mobile is one of the most successful companies in the oil and energy industries today. But what makes them so successful? In an effort to answer this question, a thorough internal investigation can be helpful in determining what aspects of this company are making it an industry leader. Two aspects of this internal analysis of Exxon Mobile are the company s resources and capabilities. Resources One of the most reputable resources that Exxon Mobil has today is a strong brand name. Exxon Mobil operates all over the world and is recognized in every part of the world (Datamonitor, 2008). When people all over the world know who a company is, what they do, and where they are located, the company gains a unique competitive advantage over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another important resource that Exxon possesses is the presence of human expertise capital throughout the company (Datamoitor, 2008). Exxon employs many scientists and engineers that are researching and finding new ways to gain access to more energy resources and make the new innovations less harmful to the environment (Annual Report, 2007). This human capital has proven to be a very important resource for the company as shown by their development of new ways to increase liquid natural gas supplies and enhancing heavy oil recovery (Annual Report, 2007). Using the VRINE model again, I will assess this resource. In analyzing the value of the human expertise capital, again we must consider whether this resource helps the company meet market demand and can eliminate some uncertainty. In this case, I believe that the unique research department that houses these scientists and engineers is one that gives the company a great capability to compete in the market, and even excel within the industry. I believe it also eliminates some uncertainty because while the company is researching and developing cutting edge technology, it keeps them knowledgeable about all the new innovations and ideas that are throughout the industry. This makes the resource very valuable. Next, the rarity of the resource must be analyzed. I believe that this resource is rare because of the entire department (the Upstream Research Center) ... • 9. The Genesis Of The Business Model Canvas The genesis of the Business Model Canvas (BMC) consists of nine building blocks that describe a business model. They are: Customer Segments, Value Propositions, Customer Relationships, Channels, Revenue Streams, Key Partners, Key Activities, Key Resources and Cost Structure. (Osterwalder, A., Pigneur, Y, 2010) One of the unique features of the approach of the Business Model Canvas is that this tool allows for easy, visual representation for decision makers to think about. The tool provides a dissection of the major concerns impacting the business and also represents the direction the organization is taking through its business model. As author Dan Roam states, visual thinking to solve complex problems is what the BMC is all about. The Business Model Generation does have it strengths and weaknesses. Perhaps the main asset of the BMC is the visual illustration. One main drawback is the limited aim of an organization; that is, it targets profit generation and for non profit purposes of an organization. The benefits will be touched on below, but the Osterwalder/Pigneu business model leaves out one key ingredient. Omitting the basic fact that competition is not mentioned in this theory seems to be a glaring omission. Advancement springs from competition and so does better customer service. In our reading, the business model canvas is a great tool that fosters understanding, discussions, creativity and analysis. The nine basic blocks demonstrate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. A Study On Child Development Essay Introduction Observing a child will increase the knowledge on how child react in different situations; also, comparing to other cases, there might be some similarities, but there must be differences. In these observations, we are focused on the social relationships, reactions, language, and emotion. Based on what we have learned in the class, I know children a bit more than usual. Some children might be more mature than their ages, but some children might not be on their ages yet. For example, asking children to solve the same problem that some children can finish it very quick, but some of them finish it slower or cannot finish it at all. I have done several observations before using running record, time sampling, and other observation system. Even though case studies provide child development major students a lot of examples, it cannot be sure that every child will act the same way. We tend to think that whether one ought to be retained in a particular job position depends on whether they are qualified for the job, rather than whether they are a generally decent person. Suggesting that Tiger, Kobe, Magic, or Jordan should not be allowed to pursue their profession in virtue of their personal indiscretions would amount to a unique kind of discrimination. From the standpoint of employment qualifications, one s sexual behavior is usually an irrelevant consideration. This brings us to the second consideration concerning punishment in one s professional life based on actions in one s personal life. We tend to think that there is an important separation between one s public life and one s private affairs. When one is a celebrity like Tiger Woods, this line is blurred considerably, and one might claim that the loss of this distinction is the price one pays for fame. However, this imposes an arbitrary constraint on a person s individual freedoms. If one has a right to the maintenance of a public and a private sphere, the fact that a person is famous is not obviously a reason for violating this right. It s 7:43 and most students are making a mad dash to beat the morning bell, others linger around the green courtyard, catching up with friends, dreading going to class. I make my way through the maze of students, and I catch my best friend, Lauren, in the stairwell at the top of A building, both on our way to the history class we have together. We do not say a word, just share a look that says we want to go home and we need more coffee, before we head into class. Our class is always in chaos in the mornings. The boys compare what they have for breakfast today and discuss last night s baseball game play by play, while the girls get together and share a bit of gossip they heard last night and begin to make plans for the weekend. Today was no exception. Just as the tardy bell rings, I sit in my seat at the corner of the room and notice that Kaylin, who sits behind me, is crying. Her face is red and blotchy and she is staring at her phone. I choose to act like I do not notice, because it must have been a rough morning and I would not want anyone bothering me if I were in her position. Then Abbie, who sits in the desk beside Kaylin, comes in a few minutes late, also crying. Lauren and I exchange confused glances, and I suddenly realize our teacher, Mrs. Hendrix, isn t in the room. These three amendments are the 13th, 14th, and 15th. In 1865, the ratification of the 13th amendment abolished slavery (Berlin). The 14th amendment protects privileges and immunities from abridgement, assures due process of law prior to deprivations of life, liberty, or property, and prohibits denials of equal protection of the laws (Steiker). The 15th amendment granted African American men the right to vote. All three of these amendments, known as the Civil Rights amendments, gave rights and ensured equality to recently emancipated slaves. The law granted rights to African Americans and protected them from explicitly race based capital codes (Steiker). African Americans, although had more rights at this point, were still treated with extreme racial hostility, especially in the Southern states. The law was complicit, as it still allowed for discriminatory behavior. In The American Death Penalty and the (In)Visibility of Race, Carol Steiker writes, Race continued to influence the application of facially neutral capital statutes through prosecutorial discretion, all white sentencing juries, and the practice of extrajudicial execution by lynch mobs. What this means is that laws were being created in ways that African Americans would still not receive equal treatment. In certain circumstances law enforcement officers even handed over blacks to lynch mobs. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Anxiety And Social Anxiety Fear is a common emotion exhibited by people who stutter (PWS). The fear of negative evaluation is commonly displayed by PWS (Fjola, 1246); when this fear is significantly excessive, the PWS may meet the criteria for a clinical diagnosis of social anxiety (Brundage, Winters, Beilby, p. 499). Social anxiety frequently causes PWS to isolate themselves from social interactions, and, when in situations, to utilize safety behaviors to prevent stuttering and reduce anxiety. Safety behaviors consequently maintain social anxiety in PWS rather than exacerbate the disorder (Lowe et al., 2017, pp. 1246 1247). More is known regarding the development of social anxiety is adults who stutter (AWS) than the information pertaining to children who stutter (CWS) and their fear of negative evaluation which results in social anxiety (Iverach, Menzies, O Brian, Packman, Onslow, 2011, p. 228). How does Luther s use of them respond to the dominant question of the sixteenth century: How can I know that God is favorable to me? The three alones in Reformation theology refer to that which is needed for justification or salvation favorableness in the sight of God. Luther describes them as 1) Christ, or the Gospel of Christ (Scripture), alone, 2) faith alone, and 3) grace alone. Each of these three are essentially united in Luther s theology. Christ is the most important factor in the three, because without Christ and without His Word, as recorded in Scripture, one cannot begin to have faith or hope to receive the necessary grace that comes with faith and guarantees salvation. As Luther states, One thing, and one alone, is necessary for life, justification, and Christian liberty; and that is the most holy word of God, the Gospel of Christ (Luther, p. 9). Through Christ and the preaching of His Word comes belief. If one believes, that is has faith, which implies trust and commitment, then one is justified and has found favor in God s eyes: For faith alone, and the efficacious use of the word of God, bring salvation (Luther, p. 9) Luther downplays the importance of works in the justification of man and instead emphasizes the place of faith and the grace that goes with it: For the word of God cannot be received and honoured by any works, ... The Impact of Acronyms Use in Facebook on Language Based on the observations and results that I gathered for 2 weeks, I found out that most of my participant who uses Facebook daily uses acronym to update their status, provide feedback or comment, chatting with other users, to give out information or to post personal details through Facebook. For my research, I found out 5 most common acronyms used by my participants which are BT, FYI, TQ, BTW, and FB. When asked about this, my sample gives out different opinion and reason on why they tend to use this acronym when using Facebook. In my view, they use acronym to shorten the sentence when they update their status in Facebook via Facebook mobile as well as to reduce the time taken to type the full sentence. When asked about whether using acronym limited the use and application of languages, they did not think about it at all. For example, Mr. K from Evidence 4 stated that he does not care about language when he update his status or chat with his friend in Facebook. For him, he only cares about using correct form of language when he was in a formal environment, as an example, speaking to his English lecturer. Moving on, from the findings or results that I have gathered, I place my focus on only 5 acronyms in order to narrow my observation. However, I will discuss the 5 acronyms more in the view of semantic. Semantically, all five acronyms mentioned in my research have different meaning. As I set my observation throughout the 2 weeks period of time, I place my studies of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Why Children Appeal To Tobacco Throughout the course of this project finding credible sources was challenging at times. My question going in was Why are children to appealed to tobacco conducting research regarding that question I found numerous different answers. One answer I didn t find surprising at all was that children are more appealed to tobacco due to the different kinds of flavors that are on the market. Swisher cigars are flavored and can smell the scent of the flavor as well. Now when a sixteen or seventeen year old gets ahold of those things they re going to be more attracted to it due to the flavoring. Another possible answer that I believed was most accurate to my question is that children are exposed to tobacco products through numerous different ways. Celebrities ... • 37. Gilgamesh Human Relationship The Relationship Between Humans With the Natural World The epic Gilgamesh was originally from 2000 B.C. and the story at first was told orally. The first written form of the story was from ancient Sumerian in cuneiform on clay tablets. It was later translated by Herbert Mason in 2003. This poem is about a king named Gilgamesh, who wants to have supremacy and authority over everything in his environment. During the his journey he learns important lessons about the outcomes of this yearning for power over life. Furthermore, the book Ishmael written by Daniel Quinn in 1995, discusses the concepts of authority that relate to people s appetite for control. Gilgamesh s quest demonstrates that humans find that control is necessary to succeed on the voyage of existence. It also displays that curiosity is a key trait that drives humans to push boundaries. Gilgamesh learns that the ability of humans to overpower their surroundings may have unintended consequences. According to this epic, humans seek to conquer and subdue the natural world, and make it fit to human needs and desires, which ends up destroying the world. On the expedition to accomplishment, humans think it is necessary to have domination. Humans, from the beginning of their existence, have learned that the only way to acquire what they desire is to conquer it. When conquering humans find it necessary to show force. This can be seen in American history with the first European settlers that came to North America. The settlers at first had enough land to satisfy them; however, as the population grew, these settlers needed more land. As a result of needing more land, the settlers took land until they had complete authority over it. Having complete command over the land they acquired lead the settlers to have successful communities. The achievement obtained relates to Gilgamesh s belief that if he has all the rule, nothing could get in his way. In this poem, Gilgamesh wants to display to the people of his kingdom that he is powerful by deciding to go on an expedition to kill Humbaba. We go to kill the Evil One, / Humbaba. We must prove/ Ourselves more powerful than he (Mason 27). This first quotation emphasizes the idea that Gilgamesh believes that to gain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. My Papa s Waltz Tone Waltzing Was Not Easy In My Papa s Waltz written by Theodore Roethke, the speaker describes his childhood memory as a beautiful bonding experience. The speaker met the whiskey on his father s breath as they waltzed into the kitchen. The mother watching nearby began to feel anger because they knocked the pans from the shelves. His strong hands held the boy s wrist tightly as the waltzing continued. When the whiskey missed a step, his right ear scraped father s belt buckle. While clinging to his father s shirt, the boy is waltzed off to bed. In reality, the reader experiences negative imagery and tone between the father and son relationship. A person such as the poet would use ambiguity to describe an abusive childhood memory because the speaker is incapable to view reality and is forced to only look at the good to escape fear. In the first stanza, the poet does not include any physical abuse, but he does include substance abuse. The speaker submits alcoholism in these lines: The whiskey on your breath / Could make a small boy dizzy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this line: You beat time on my head suggests that the speaker is being forced to go to bed when he really does not want to. (13) The reader is obligated to think the father beat time on the child s head with his hand at a hard force. Since the father was drunk, he is incapable of feeling or knowing how much force he exerted on the child. • 41. The Eistads Research Paper With six children and four adults spending all day on one confined houseboat, it was less than peaceful. My family did not know what we were getting ourselves into spending a week with The Eistads. They were a pleasant group of people, but our families were very different. They lived in a small town surrounded fields, and The Eistads did not care much for hygiene. Lice were uncovered on day three, and on day four there was the poop on the wall incident. The Eistads were a country bunch and did many daily activities differently compared to my family. Finally, the ciaos had become too much for my mother, Amy Eistad, and me, so we decided to take the rickety pull behind boat out for an outing and hopefully bring back some dinner. A little determination from Amy finally got the motor to start, and we crawled around with our lines in the water. Amy was the most experienced at controlling a motor, so she guided us around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My mother and I hauled our fish into the boat and then relieved Amy of her motor duties. Three fish in the boat was an accomplishment that we all beamed over. The sun was starting to set, so we decided to head back to the houseboat and boast about our catch to the others over dinner. Just as were all packed up, it started to down pour. The rushing winds and gushing waves filled our tiny tin boat quickly. We were on the brink of being capsized. Grab the buckets, bellowed Amy. My mother and I hastily grabbed the buckets, and we started to move the water back where it belonged. Then it happened. The motor puttered for a few minutes and then ultimately died. The smoke from the motor filled our noses. I looked around and realized that we were stuck in the middle of the lake, in pouring rain, with no motor. Basically, we were sitting in an electric conducting death trap. I glanced over at Amy who was buckled over in laughter at the back of the boat ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Postmodernism And Its Influence On Modern Society Postmodernism is a complex term that has tried to be describes by many different theorist in many different ways. Some say that it is so hard to define because it is an idea that emerges across and variety of disciplines. In its most basic form Postmodernism can be describes at departure from modernism and is characterized by the self conscious use of earlier styles and conventions, a mixing of different artistic styles and media, and a general distrust of theories (Oxford Dictionary, 2010). So with this definition in mind we must look at modernism and the movement away from this to postmodernism. We will also look at the characteristic of postmodernism and how it is represented in the media culture. The phrase postmodernism was used to depict a style in architecture in the early 1960 s, this style used components from the past architectural styles and combined them to create buildings. This term was coined and used by cultural and political theorist to express contemporary Western and global society, two of theorists which will be discussed is Fredric Jameson and Linda Hitcheon who have apposing views on the theory. Fredric Jameson is an American literary critic and Marxist political theorist. Jameson argues that a shift in the economic society began in the late 1960 s, and that the world is moving into a phase he calls late capitalism. • 43. The Horrors of Cannibalism Cannibalism to say the least is a very taboo word. Cannibalism is known to be very disturbing and sets off a certain set of powerful emotions when spoken about. One thing about cannibalism is that it used to be considered a normal part of life, and has only recently been seen as taboo in the recent centuries. Many people believe Cannibalism should be legal world wide, but only have reasoning s of culture and religions. Cannibalism should be illegal because of immorality, diseases , and murder by eating someone s flesh. The History of Cannibalism is small, yet widely spread around the world. The Korowai Tribe has been around since 1974, they are known for killing outsiders, and to be afraid of pale skinned people (Raffaele). If Cannibalism stays legal, the isolated tribes could possibly expand, and want to kill any pale skinned person, or anyone not from their tribe. The Carib tribe was the first known tribe to commit acts of cannibalism to their enemies, which became increasingly rare once the introduction of Christianity was introduced in the area (Mind Q). Once the human race became more active in moral behavior, Cannibalism was outcast, giving it no reason to be legal within our current society. The Aztecs are known as one of the most brutal tribes to date, the Aztecs would commit thousands of human sacrifices a year (Mind Q). • 44. Effective Management Of Operations And Supply Chain Introduction Effective management of operations and supply chain is a crucial source of competitive advantage for any business in a rigorously competitive environment. Operations management generally denotes the process of managing a firm s resources with the ultimate aim of delivering value to the customer (Krajewski, Ritzman Malhotra, 2013). To stay ahead of the competition, an organisation must constantly strive to transform its operations it must seek to eliminate inefficiencies in the supply chain. This report compares the operations of 99p Stores and Sainsbury s fulfilment process. Sainsbury, which was founded more than one and a half centuries ago, is one of the most popular retailers in the UK, commanding the third largest market share after Tesco and Asda (Christie, 2013). 99p Stores is also a retailer that operates in the UK, though it is quite smaller compared to Sainsbury. While Sainsbury has been doing online retailing since 1996, 99p Stores is currently in the process of testing the viability of online retailing.
